A Study of the Trans-Texas Corridor and How it Affects...
A Study of the Trans Texas Corridor and How it Affects Texans
Everything is bigger in Texas. That s what a lot of Texans what Americans and people around the
world to know you don t mess with Texas. In the 1950 s, when President Eisenhower created the first
Interstate plan for the country and implemented new roads in almost every single state, it was the
largest engineering feat in the modern world. Now, almost half a century later, Governor Rick Perry is
set to break that record, with the costliest, largest, and most incredible sized proportion Texas Trans
Corridor, dubbed the Texas Superhighway, a 4000 mile, $175 billion dollar project that won t be
completely functional for another fifty years (Perry). This project certainly ... Show more content on

Laredo contains 40% of the United States land ship import traffic. Also, any traveler on the I 35
corridor in Texas runs into hundreds of eighteen wheelers, increasing drivers awareness and causing
disarray for drivers who are trying to see the road in front of them. Perry s answer is to shift the traffic
away from metropolitan areas. If truck drivers can bypass San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas, the time to
their destination would probably save them an entire day in travel. Freight rail services could veer
away from San Antonio s railroad yard, an institution bustling with activity in the wee hours of the
morning. Also, commuter rail can solve environmental problems and help families keep in touch
anywhere in the state without the over burdening costs of driving (Perry). Perry s plan begins with the
setup itself: Six, twelve foot vehicle passenger lanes in which the vehicle can travel at 80 miles per
hour; Four, thirteen foot truck lanes; Two tracks for each of the following railroad establishments high
speed rail, commuter rail, and freight rail. No transportation facility exists like this in the modern
world. All of these integrations to modern society are completely bundled into one, and their concept
is all the same relieve traffic in urban centers and create a safe and enjoyable experience through the
Texas countryside without interruption

Hypnosis Let s face that although America is a powerful 1st world country dominant over others, it
too endures several challenges amongst the people that are living in it and some of the hardest
challenges can be prevented by a simple treatment known as hypnosis. America is ranked number one
in the charts for obesity amongst other countries, the Center for Disease Control estimated a vast 36.7

Franz Anton Mesmer was a man whom had discovered the work of Renaissance mystic physician
Paracelsus at around 1766. He tried to uncover a relationship of astrology and human health or
regeneration, combining human trials and studies at around 1775, he later became increasingly
unpopular amongst other physicians of his time then renounced and left country after country leaving
a few followers that would later be known as mesmerist who would follow his footsteps and perform
studies on patients. After his death, 2 of his followers announced great discoveries that consisted of
sleep like states humans went through using his practices; those discoveries and revelations would
later lead physicians to consider the possibility of using mesmerism as an anesthetic during surgery.
James Braid another man who became interested in mesmerism then began his own trials in
Manchester at about 1841. He is known as the father of modern hypnosis using similar methods as
mesmerism he examined subjects and got behind the science of the human brain and its reaction under
trance along with how one is hypnotized in the first place. He disproved Mesmer not wanting to be
known as a follower of him and his beliefs; he renamed mesmerism, Hypnosis , after Hypnos, the
Greek god of sleep. Hypnosis has been practiced and tried for over 3 centuries; you

Institutionalized Inequalities
Institutionalized inequalities, a societal prejudice against others through a community or organization,
is a prevalent issue within the novel, The Bluest Eye , written by Toni Morrison. The use of racial
discrimination, gender roles, and class structures construct these inequalities, and illustrates the
immoral high road that institutions in the 20th century would follow along. Pecola Breedlove, the
main character and the person who falls to victim most frequently, endures numerous setbacks and
obstacles that contribute to the analysis on how The Bluest Eye creates such disparities. As Wall
would put it, in a society ordered by hierarchies of power based on race, class, and gender, no one is
more powerless hence more vulnerable than a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of an institution that promotes internalized racism would be the school in which Claudia,
Pecola, and Frieda attend. Maureen Peal, the new kid to the neighborhood, arrives with her head held
high on top of her even higher horse. Maureen is a light skinned African American middle classed girl
who is held to the highest regard around school, and who kicks those of whom are darker and poorer
to the curb. As we have discussed before, there is a scene in which Maureen offers to walk home with
Claudia and her sister Frieda. The walk is interrupted abruptly after running into a crying Pecola in the
center of a circle of male classmates taunting her. The boys shout slurs at her about her father and her
skin tone, completely disregarding that they themselves were black, or that their father had similarly
relaxed habits (65) In regards to internalized racism, Morrison states that they seemed to have taken
all of their smoothly cultivated ignorance, their exquisitely learned self hatred, their elaborately
designed hopelessness and sucked it all up into a fiery cone of scorn that had burned for ages in the
hollows of their minds. (65) Maureen stands idly by while Claudia and Frieda help in saving Pecola
from the ruthlessness of the African American boys who hate her for something they all have in
common, but the boys finish their taunting because of the stigma surrounding Maureen and her light
skin. Maureen takes this time to console Pecola, walking the girls towards the ice cream parlor, and
pretending to be anything but sinister. The gears switch, Maureen starts bombarding Pecola with
questions of her naked father, and in the end regards Pecola as black and ugly while regarding herself
as light and cute. Exposing the African American community of a deep seeded hatred in their
community towards the blackest sheep.

CHAPTER FOUR: LOW POWER DESIGN
4.1 Introduction:
In earlier stages of VLSI circuit design the emphasis is on Area and Speed optimization giving
concerns to Packaging and Efficient designing. As the technology scales down according to
predictions of Moor s Law, it is advent that the CMOS dimensions have been scaled down drastically.
But due to increase in use of Portable Devices Such as Cellphones, Laptops, Personal Health
Monitoring systems, there has been a demand of higher battery life for Portable devices. Whereas big
data centers which contains large set of circuits consumes tremendous power and dissipates large
amount of heat which incurs huge cost to maintain. The solution for these problems is to design
circuits which consume low power which give rise to the concept of Low Power VLSI designing.

Civil Inattention
This chapter was an eye opener for me and very informative, but I was really interested in civil
inattention. I say this because I am sure we all experience civil inattention everywhere from just
simply walking outside, going to the movie theaters, shopping at the mall, shopping at the
supermarket, etc. I find it interesting because this is not something that we would even notice or talk
about. I know in this society, we don t regularly talk to strangers, we try to avoid eye contact as much
as possible. When people stare at you longer than what s acceptable and it doesn t take the attention in
the way it was meant to be, then anger could be a result due to misunderstanding. For example, my
nephew went to Boston for of a job opportunity and

Understanding The Historical-Cultural Context Paper
1. What can happen when people approach the Bible without any concern for the historical cultural
context? We misinterpret what God is trying to say. We need to understand what the audience was
going through in the time that God was speaking to them. We need to understand the situation so that
it can impact us the way that God intended it to impact the audience he was speaking to. One
awesome example that the author points out is the parable of the Good Samaritan. When Jesus starts
that A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho by looking at different resources to get the
historical context we can find elevation, the route, the weather patterns, and most importantly the
terrain. We would find out that Jerusalem is 2500 feet above sea level and Jericho is about 800 feet
below sea level. The route is 20 miles and the terrain is very rugged. (Duvall, 2008, p. 53) So we can
now understand that the Samaritan could have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides those examples cited in this chapter, please give and explain an example of how
understanding the historical cultural context can shed significant light on the meaning of a specific
biblical text. Cite the specific passage you are discussing in your post. (ex. Is. 40:27 30). For my
example I am going to use a different part of the Parable of the Good Samaritan the Samaritan and the
dying Man. A Priest and a Levite passed the man either because they didn t see him or because they
may have become ritually unclean. The Samaritan stopped and helped them man dying on the side of
the road. The Jews Considered the Samaritans half breeds who had intermarried with foreigners and
who were guilty of false worship. So stopping and showing compassion when the others did not would
be very humiliating to the Jews in which Jesus was speaking. Through research I found out it would
be the equivalent of an atheist homosexual married couple stopping to help a church bus that had just
had a serious accident. While another church bus drives on

The Soft Drink Manufacturing And Carbonated Beverages...
Introduction:
In the United States, The Soft Drink Manufacturing and carbonated beverages market is dominated by
three major companies. They are Coca Cola, PepsiCo, and the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group. These
companies account for 66% of the total market shares Coca Cola (28.6%), Pepsi Co Inc (26.8%), and
the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (8.6%). The carbonated soft drinks account for 65%, and noncarbonated
beverages account for 35% of the industry market. The demand for soft drinks is driven by consumer
tastes preferences and demographics. The United States soft drink manufacturing sector has 250
companies that have revenue combined with $40 billion dollars according to recent reports. The
carbonated soft drinks global sales are equal to an estimate of $350 billion dollars per year. The global
sales revenue includes nonalcoholic beverage industry as well as ice tea and bottled water.
The soft drink industry has two manufacturers that work together to bring drinks to the market. It is
flavoring syrup, and concentrate, and soft drink manufacturing. The supply chain depends on the
syrup producer as the driver of the operation. The industry is made up of flavoring syrup and
concentrate and soft drink manufacturing. The bottled soft drinks follow a product life cycle, from
sugar producer to bottle, to distributor, to merchant, and then to the final consumer. Before beverages
even reach the consumer, they may be distributed through a variety of different channels

Interracial Marriage Analysis
In the two articles Children of Interracial Marriage written by Glenn Collins and Upbeat Interracial Ad
for Old Navy Leads to Backlash. Twice. by Richard Perez Pena, there is a very solid link of a society
and how it interacts with interracial families. Starting off her article with a hearty what about the
children? , Collins grabs the reader s attention immediately before delving into what research and
respected field experts have to say on the matter of interracial families and children (Collins 1984).
Likewise, Perez Pena immediately jumps into describing the social media outrage that erupted on the
internet after a seemingly innocent ad was featured by Old Navy (Perez Pena 2016). Both articles
were based on interracial couples and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Twice, there is more of a focus on the responses and reactions of the general public. As many may be
aware, there was an out lash on social media websites, such as Twitter and Facebook, over this ad that
featured a cheerful interracial couple and their children. The whimsical, laughing family seemed
innocent enough, but there was a clear revolt among the more bigoted communities. This lead to a
powerful reaction from interracial couples and families who took the rejection of the ad personally. In
turn, they posted their own photos of their families to protest the racism and supposed white
discrimination that many complained of. This was a very important event because it brought the topic
of interracial couples into the spotlight of the media and it was clear that there was a very steady
divide between those who accepted and disapproved. While this wasn t necessarily a poll or a census,
there was a very clear message that could be concluded from the Twitter war (Perez Pena

Essay on Racism and the Enslavement of African Americans
Racism and the Enslavement of African Americans
Did Racism cause enslavement of African Americans? To answer this question you have to determine
what a slave is? And what Racism is? By my views and believes, slavery is any type of duty
somebody does for you. You own them so they work for you otherwise they will get punished. Now
Racism is a negative attitude towards another race. After these to words are cleared up you come to a
conclusion that racism in the 17th century caused enslavement of African Americans. To believe this
you have to look at the history left for us to read. The court papers, and journals of people back in the
17th century.
The first blacks arrived at Jamestown in 1619, they were from Africa and there were 20 of ... Show

John Punch was one the three servants working for a farmer and ran away to Maryland. Two were
white; one was black. They were captured in Maryland and returned to Jamestown, where the court
sentenced all three to thirty lashes. This was considered a severe punishment even by the standards of
17th century. The two white men were sentenced to an additional four years of servitude. The strong
punishment for whites, but in addition to the whipping, the black man John Punch was ordered to
serve his master or his assigns for the time of his natural Life here or elsewhere. (C Degler pg 65)
Because he was a different color John Punch no longer had hope for freedom. Why, because he was
African and was braking the law of the land at the time. The grounds for this harsh sentence
presumably lay in the fact that he was non Christian rather than in the fact that he was physically dark.
But religious beliefs could change, while skin color could not. Within a generation race, religion was
not being made the defining characteristic of enslaved Africans. Because the defining characteristics
of Africans it lead to the terrible transformation to racial slavery.
What were needed in Jamestown were laborers. Or what we call slaves to clear fields, to plant and
harvest crops. During the 1620s and 1630s, when the price of tobacco was high and English workers
had too few jobs available at home, Jamestown offered jobs to the few English workers that came
over. Then after 1660 the value of

Positive Role Model In To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee
A positive role model is an individual who possesses positive qualities, such as empathy and integrity,
and does good for the betterment of others, which, as a result, influences others to follow their
example. A role model s actions and lessons can help shape a child s views, morals and beliefs, which,
in turn, affect their identity as well as their actions and behaviour towards those around them. The
novel, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, is set in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama,
where racial discrimination and narrow mindedness run rampant. In the novel, Lee showcases the
impact and influence that role models can have on a child through the protagonist, Scout Finch. In the

Heroism Essay
What is heroism? Things preformed Superman, Batman, or The Flash? This is what most people think
about when they hear the word hero or heroism. Although these characters show heroism, the
definition of heroism does not have to be narrowed to the stereotypical hero. Many people have
different concepts on heroism. A hero can be a ordinary person like a firefighter or cop. Heroism is a
attribute that a person can obtain but they have to choose actions that help others like a fearless
firefighter or cop helping others. Heroism also does not call for a reward for being heroic. Heroism is
a quality or an act in all of us that a person uses to benefit for the good of other people even if there is
a risk. Heroism makes society a better place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also shows heros care for others shown in sociocentrism instead of being egocentric. This means
that a hero is more concerned about others instead of having egocentrism and only caring for their
own wants. Heroes tone down the evil in the world by being taking more action and caring for other
people instead of themselves.
The quality of heroism can be shown in the everyday life and people. George Bernard Shaw a
playwright and a public figure said, Every reasonable man (and woman) is a potential scoundrel and a
potential good citizen. What a man is depends upon his character; what a man does, and what we think
of what he does, depends upon his circumstances (Shaw). When you see your peers they might not
look special or have superpowers that can save the whole galaxy from an evil demon. Although they
can still show heroism that you might not see or notice. In addition to heroism being in most people it
can also be faint. Arthur Ashe who was a inspiration to many from being the first black player selected
to the United States Davis Cup team states, True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is
not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost (Ashe).
This quote displays that heroism can be a subtle act that doesn t have to expressed greatly but puts
others before yourself. This also shows that heroism does not have to be publicly announced. This

Short And Long Term Effects Of The Civil War Essay
In 1776, the Civil War began. Most believe war started over the moral issue of slavery, which was a
huge conflict in society but in fact it started over the economic standpoint of slavery and political
control. A key issue though, was states rights. The South wanted authority over the federal
government so they could abolish federal laws that they didn t support. Territorial expansion was
another factor in the breakout of the Civil War. The South wanted slavery in the Western territories
while the North was committed to being against slavery. While this was going on, a republican party
was forming with members who were strongly against westward expansion of slavery, basically taking
the North s side. In 1860 when Abraham Lincoln took office, it was made clear to the South that
slavery was not going to expand westward. Therefore, the seven states in the South seceded from the
Union forming the Confederate States of America, leading to the start of the Civil War. April 12th,
1861 a battle broke out at Fort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lasting effect of the war was the emancipation of the slaves. It was inevitable that the North was
going to win for a number of reasons. To start off, the North had a demographic advantage over the
South. Since there were more civilians in the North than there were in the South, their army was
always larger. The Confederacy didn t even have a great Navy. Without a strong Navy, the
Confederacy would never be able to really hurt the Union by disrupting it s economy and blockading
its ports. Also, most of the battles took place on Northern territories so they knew the land. In 1862,
the North had captured New Orleans as well. This is important because New Orleans was the major
port for the Confederacy. So to capture it, meant that the South s economy was going to collapse soon

Gendered Societal Expectations of Appearance and Their Effects Upon the Individual
It has long been generally accepted that we as humans are influenced greatly by the things that
surround our everyday lives. These things can include friends, family, co workers, the media and even
society as a whole. The society in which people live can play a huge role in how they view themselves
and how they view others. Over the years researchers have come up with many theories as to how and
why society has such a large influence on people. Now a days there are appearance prescriptions for
everything in our society. It is not good to be too fat, but it is not good to be too skinny either. The way

This study suggests that body dissatisfaction may mediate the relationship between overweight and
depression (Chaiton, 2009). It goes on to suggest that the relationship found between obesity and
depression is differentiated by gender because of the difference in societal expectations placed on
women and men (Chaiton, 2009). The study concluded that females experience body dissatisfaction
almost solely when they believe they are overweight, whereas both males who believe that they are
under or overweight experience body dissatisfaction which can in all cases lead to some level of
depression (Chaiton, 2009).
As the aforementioned study showed societal expectations concerning appearance can, and often do,
affect men just as much as they do women (Chaiton, 2009). Our society pushes men to be big,
muscular and manly. To certain degree the more muscular a man is the more attractive he generally is
within society. A study from an international journal regarding social behavior and personality
concluded that the attractiveness of a man is more important in determining social desirability than the
age of the man in question (Perlini, 2001). Comparatively the results of these two studies add up to
say that the attractiveness of a man is one of the main factors in determining societal desirability and
one of the biggest factors in being attractive is being muscular or strong. This puts a lot of pressure on
males to be concerned

as the child gets older, he grasps the concept of his belief of right and wrong, based upon the rules of

Analysis Of Gerard Genette s Glossary Of Poetic Terms
In recent years, the term narratology has often been associated principally with European structuralism
[1], bolstered by the work of Gerard Genette, perhaps one of the most famous narrative theorists.
Rather than other theorists, such as Todorov, who s work on the influence of the protagonist on a
narrative equilibrium has too provided an insight into different forms and varieties of narratives [2],
Genette is more concerned with breaking down the mechanics and processes behind a story, shifting
away from the characters and their respective character arcs. He argues that the principalities behind
explaining narratology exist in the routine in which the story is presented. In simpler terms, his
interest is not in the story itself, but how it is told. [3} In this essay, I will use this as an analytical tool
for taking apart a selected narrative.
Any good author, playwright, or poet will always tell you that forms of literature will always contain a
message. This may be personal, or historical for instance, but underneath the visual and auditory sugar
coat of graphology and literary techniques, there always exists an underlying message to influence and
engage the reader. This could be ambiguous, or easily recognised, or perhaps in between. One
prominent branch of writing subsists in between free verse and poetry, in what is known as Prose .
More specifically, The Glossary of Poetic Terms (2006) [4] states it is a piece of writing which
features the charged language

The Methods That Are Used By The Standard Transactions
D The two methods that are used by the expert include the comparable transactions method, which
uses the multiples in the market to determine the value, and also the DCF method, which is used to
discount the future cash flows back to determine the current value of the shares. Different methods
have different strengths and weaknesses. According to Ross (2009), the comparable transaction
method is used and the strength is that it uses the historical actual transactions that are comparable to
the Woolworths transaction, so that the valuation is justified by the market conditions. In the
meantime, the weakness of the comparable transaction is that different transactions have different

do not have exactly the same products as David James. Another weakness is that the number of
comparable transactions is too small and the multiples that are used for valuation vary considerably, so
that large discrepancies are generated. The DCF method is a useful method. In this case the
assumptions that are made in the DCF method are reasonable. The DCF also includes many different
scenarios that are used for valuation. However, one of the major weaknesses of this is that the
variation of valuation is very large. Therefore, it is reasonable to believe that although both methods
are good for valuation purposes, the weaknesses generated could impact the accuracy of the results.
The growth rate that is assumed in the DCF valuation is 2.5%, which is reasonable. According to Ross
(2009), the growth rate of 2.5% matches the long term growth rate of the Australian economy and
therefore it is justified. As the company keeps growing it would finally reaches its final status. In
many situations the company is able to grow as fast as the Australian economy is able to. Very few
industries are able to grow at a faster rate than the whole economy for very long periods of time. An

Conquest Of Australia
Since the age of long established kingdoms, the strong communities would conquer weaker nations
and rule over them with an iron fist. The conquerors would often suppress the original inhabitants of
the land, by forcing them into slavery, harsh treatment and even, taking of children and young girls for
pleasure. The conquered residents would live in fear, oppression, and ill treatment in their ancestral
land. The modern era, brought about a different mode of the conquering of kingdoms, with the same
devastating effects of inhumane treatment and suffering of the indigenous persons. Accordingly, over
90% of the global nations are victims of the colonization, and likewise, Australia did not escape the
domination. The conquest of Australia brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The role of engineers is to improve the quality of the lives of the people, by the formulation of
technical solutions to issues facing the society. Although the prevalence of the engineering works with
physical artifacts, the majority of the work lies within the intellectual domain. Further, engineers offer
technical possibilities, which work to optimize the social, environmental consequences and
opportunities to the society. The hallmark of a professional engineer is to apply and make informed,
sustainable and responsible decisions. Engineers ought to uphold and own the impositions and the
consequences within considerable ethical limits of the possibilities produced. Therefore, prerequisite
understanding of what the community has encountered in the past and continued to endure formulates
the basics within which an individual should approach particular instances. The history of the
treatment of aboriginals in Australia expresses the rationale and the manner in which an engineer
should interact and make decisions about the indigenous people. Engineers should have the ability to
discern the particular setting of the people, before the imposition of ideas and proposals to the local
communities, and principally, the aboriginals. Engineers ought to understand the implications of their
actions and impactions, as well as aim to rectify the problems and issues. Engineers should build on
their critical competencies of comprehension, conceptually based understanding, and discernment as
well as knowledge. The vital skills of engineers often allude to the theoretical knowledge on how
engineers ought to conduct the affairs. However, engineers should have the ability to understand the
social settings about the issues which people have faced, and may continue to impact in the

Cultural Beliefs Of The Afterlife
Every culture has their own set of beliefs when it comes to the afterlife, what happens to our soul,
morality, fate, and also share their own version of punishment and reward. Some cultures believe there
s a life after death while others do not. For instance, the Egyptian culture do believe in an afterlife. In
fact, their culture is so deeply rooted in this that they form their whole lives around and spend their
entire lives preparing for their death and afterlife. Egyptians believe the life you have on Earth will be
the same in your afterlife. Their concept of an afterlife was a mirror world of one s life on earth. Well,
it was specifically one s life in Egypt. Therefore, one was expected to live that life well if one hoped to
enjoy the rest of one s eternal journey. The Egyptians also believed the soul left its physical body to
journey off into the afterlife. However, they believed you needed your entire body to remain intact and
pure in order to have a chance at living in paradise after this realm. So, if your arm was missing at the
time of your burial, according to their beliefs you could not transcend into the next life. You d be left
in limbo. This is why their embalming rituals were created. These rituals were created to make a body
pure to be able to transcend into the next life. Speaking of purity, the ancient Egyptians had a code of
morals and ethics which was known as Ma at. It was the ethical conceptions of truth , order and
cosmic balance . Also these

Sucker Punch Quotes
An Alice in Wonderland meets machine guns is how Zack Snyder s 2011 film, Sucker Punch can best
be described. The story revolves around the story of a girl named Baby Doll who opens the film and
sets the Ordinary World in Joseph Campbell s Hero s Journey. In the first 10 minutes of the film, the
ordinary world gets explored in which we see the background and receive some knowledge into Baby
Doll s world. Baby Doll s mother passed away which sends her stepfather into a fury after finding that
her mother s last will and testament left everything to her two daughters and nothing for him. In his
fury, the stepfather attempts to assault Baby Doll but realizes that in order to truly get at Baby Doll, he

As Dr. Gorsky states, You don t think you re strong enough? You are. You re afraid. Don t be. To me,
that quote states everyone has the capability to fight for what they want, in Sucker Punch s case, it is
freedom. Furthermore, you shouldn t doubt yourself because its in those moments where you have to
prove yourself that you can surprise yourself with how much you can push yourself to succeed.
Additionally, imagination can be an escape from reality if that is what helps you to fight your way
through life, as Baby Doll re imagines the asylum in a different environment and she becomes
stronger when she sees herself as one who can defeat samurai, steampunk Nazi soldiers, orcs with a
dragon, and sci fi robots. You too can imagine yourself as whatever you want to be in order to take on
whatever task that lies before you. You may not realize the power you hold within yourself to live
your own life the way that you want to on your own terms. You are the one who holds the key to set

Determination Of Copper Sulphate Using Colorimetry Lab Report
Finding the concentration of an unknown sample of copper sulphate using colorimetry.
In this task the concentration of an unknown sample of copper sulphate using colorimetry was used to
find the concentration. In this investigation copper sulphate was used which is CuSO4.5H20 as a
formula. To make a standard solution which was 1M, the same clean equipment was used to make up
the standard solution as used to make sodium carbonate. However there was one difference and that
was that the hot distilled water was used to dissolve the copper sulphate crystals. There had to be
enough hot water in order to dissolve the crystals into the beaker and then add cold distilled water to
cool the solution.
After this, the solution was poured into a volumetric flask just about to the 1dm3 line and then it was
left there to cool to the same temperature as the room before filling precisely to the 1dm3 line with
distilled water. The molar mass of CuSO4.5H20 was 249.5 so that means 249.5g of copper sulphate
was needed to dissolve, in order to make a standard solution, into 1dm3of distilled water. Following
this, a linear dilution of the CuSO4.5H2O was made in order to be used to make a calibration curve
after using the colorimeter to write down the absorbance of each sample. A linear dilution is diluted
with distilled water in order for it to make the concentration weaker and weaker. For this investigation,
the dilutions made ranged from 0.01 to 0.1 M/l . It was essential to only make up 10cm3

Theme Of The Birds By Alfred Hitchcock
Psycho is a classic horror/thriller directed by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock made in 1960. It
followed Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), who stole $40,000 in order to be with her lover, and stopped at
the Bates Motel, owned by the psychotic split personality Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), along the
way, and is murdered by Bates, which catalyses an investigation into Norman and his mysterious
mother. Psycho explored in depth the psychosis of its characters and how it connected to Kübler Ross
model of grief, and utilized filmmaking techniques, such as mise en scène and motifs, to demonstrate
this characteristic of its characters.
Hitchcock demonstrated his auteurism in his use of a bird focused motif, a recurring theme in not only
Psycho but also his other works, The Birds (1963) in particular, and demonstrated this motif through
use of mise en scène. Norman Bates was a hobbyist taxidermist, and took particular interest in birds.
His office was decorated with stuffed birds of both predator and prey. In close up shots of the
conversation between Norman and Marion Crane (a bird name), Norman was often framed with a
predatory bird in a low angle shot, designed to make him appear intimidating. Marion, on the other
hand, was framed alongside prey birds in a high angle shot, which showed her defenselessness. This
filmmaking technique signified the juxtaposition between Norman and Marion, where Marion was
weak preyed upon by the powerful predatory Norman Bates. This relationship is

Anterior Cruciate Ligar
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is one of the most common knee injuries in female sports
today. The ACL is a ligament that attaches the femur and tibia to the knee allowing the knee to bend
while still being stable and supporting the whole body. Dr. Russel F. Warren, a physician for the New
York Giants football team, explains, The ACL prevents the shin bone (tibia) from moving too far
forward on the thigh bone (femur) and keeps the knee from twisting inward excessively. When
athletes tear their ACL there is a greater chance that they have hurt or another ligament in their knee
such as the LCL, MCL or Meniscus; which is cartilage that absorbs shock from the body s pressure
(MedlinePlus). The ACL is strong, but one wrong move could result

Individual Autonomy Essay
In this report the tensions between the claim to individual autonomy, and the obligation to conform to
community expectations will be identified and examined. Tensions arise due to incompatible ethical
and moral principles. Personal rights, and the desire to be accepted are the main causes of these
tensions. The cornerstone of communitarianism is the individual being socialised into conforming to
the foundation beliefs which contribute to the common good . Individualism on the other hand, states
that every person is of equal standing and has the inalienable right to do with his life what he desires.
It is this belief that clashes with the principle of socialisation, this is because autonomous individuals

individuals to immunise their children in order to protect the health of the community. Individuals that
question the moral and ethical basis on which this expectation is made, do so with their right to
question the government, as opposed to communitarians that are more inclined to accept the
government s policies about immunisation as they believe the government has the best interests of the
people at mind. With this knowledge, does the search for individual notions outweigh the
communitarian expectation that it is in the best interest of the community to conform and become
subversive to the government in order to keep the community safe? These viewpoints are ethically and
morally incompatible and thus are a source of the tensions between the community and the

Relationships In Avatar
Many similar themes reflecting relationships with nature can be found in the film Avatar, the most
obvious being the flowering stick. This correlates to Home Tree and the Tree of Souls, which are the
Omaticaya people s direct connection to Ey wa, their mother spirit. The flowering stick as the center
of the nation s sacred hoop is even found in a particular scene in which the Omaticaya people are
trying to save scientist Grace Augustine by transferring her soul from her human body to her Na vi
avatar. In this scene, the Omaticaya interlock hands and are seated in circles surrounding their sacred
tree, the Tree of Souls (Cameron Avatar, 2009: 2:12:26 2:16:08). This is a very clear reference to the

A Short Story Of The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
The Scarlet Ibis is a short story written by James Hurst and was published in July of 1960. This
tragedy is placed at the time of the civil war when a boy tells the story of his brother coming into this
world. His brother was born very small and unhealthy, leading his parents to think that he will not
survive for very long. But the aunt disagrees and the baby proves her right. Once the baby is three
months, the mother and father decide to name him William Armstrong. His mother tells the brother
that he is feedable but not all there , meaning that he isn t the typical boy that can run around and play.
Brother is enraged at the fact that he won t have a playmate and decides that he wants to suffocate
William until he sees the small infant give him a smile. The brother realizes that he isn t completely
gone.
As William ages to age two, he has learned to move about and crawl around. The doctors are afraid
that if he is physically active like this, it will damage his heart. Instead of crawling, the doctors want
him to scoot or crawl backward. With William Armstrong doing this, he earns the name Doodle ,
which is given to him by his older brother who feels that it is a much more fitting name. Doodle soon
learns how to talk and feels a strong brotherhood between his brother even though he receives tough
treatment from him. As Doodle becomes older, his brother decides that he does not want a brother
who cannot walk at his age because that was embarrassing to him. The thought

Salary Caps In Professional Sports
Salary caps are a very important tool used in professional sports. All 4 major professional sports
leagues in the United States have a salary cap installed into their collective bargaining agreement
between the league and its players. Those four major sports are, the NFL, the NBA, the MLB and the
NHL. A salary cap is defined as s an agreement or rule that places a limit on the amount of money that
a team can spend on players salaries. It can be as a per player limit or a total limit for the team s roster.
It is basically put in place to help the small market teams stay competitive. It is meant so the wealthy
teams, also called big market teams, does not always stay dominant by signing the best players to very
big contracts. Salary caps are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rudyard Kipling Imperialism
England in the Victorian Era was proud to be one of the most powerful nations of the time, in control
of various territories around the world. In The Man Who Would Be King, Rudyard Kipling gives an
interesting insight into British imperialism from the perspective of an Englishman in India, one of
England s many colonies during the height of the British Empire.
Kipling appears to believe strongly in the good that the influence of the English would have on the
native people in the empire. The English claimed India as well as many other territories as theirs, but
they did not see the natives of those regions as their own people and sought to make them more
civilized. At one point the narrator even says that, Native States were created by Providence ... Show

On one side, he seemed to trumpet the glory of the English empire, such as when Daniel had claimed
that he would, hand over the crown... to Queen Victoria on my knees, and she d say: Rise up, Sir
Daniel Dravot (2356 2357). He did seek to do good by trying to civilize the people of Kafiristan.
However, Kipling gave him a hunger for power was also self serving and he began to seek more
power for himself. Daniel ignored Peachey s warning to not break their contract in order to take a wife
for a queen. His confidence and complacency in his position was his downfall. The natives eventually
realized their rulers false claims to power and dethroned them. In this way, one might perceive that
Kipling could have meant that because of their loose hold on these far lands, England did not have a
real right to power and, as happened in the story, would not be able to maintain power in all of the
lands that they controlled.
In The Man Who Would Be King, one can clearly see the pride that Rudyard Kipling had in the
strength of the British empire. However, the outcome of the story could be seen as a recognition of the
will of the native people in the lands under British rule. Overall, Kipling gave an interesting look at
the spirit of imperialism and how

Complications Of Government Corruption
Introduction: If we read the News today, we could see that the government all over the world is
corrupt. According to US Legal, government corruption is when government leaders abuse their
political power to extract and accumulate for private enrichment (US Legal, Inc.)[1]. Technically, this
is a bad thing because when government leaders use their power for their benefit, it does not
necessarily mean that it is beneficial to the public and the society. To prove or disprove this argument,
I decided to run an econometric analysis to see whether government corruption hinders or helps
economic development. Method: There were three datasets I used for this paper. The first and the main
dataset was the dataset that contained the data on government corruption, which came from the
Worldwide Governance Indicators excel file posted on World Bank. From this dataset, I pulled out one
important variable called Corruption, which is a measure of the government performance. It ranges
from 2.5 (bad government performance/corrupted) to 2.5(good government performance/not
corrupted). We need to be careful when interpreting this variable because even though this is a
corruption measure, higher positive value actually means the government is doing better and less
corrupted. The second dataset I used was Penn World Table version 9.0[3]. From this dataset, I pulled
out the variables: average hours worked (avh), human capital index, based on years of schooling and
returns to education

Short Story The Lamp At Noon And The Painted Door
In the short stories The Lamp At Noon and The Painted Door by Sinclair Ross, the use of setting is a
tool to help emphasize the relationships of both marriages in each story as well as helping support the
motifs of loneliness and isolation. However, this use of setting is much more effective in The Lamp At
Noon as opposed to The Painted Door.
In The Painted Door, the setting is a small farm which supports a man named John and his wife, Ann.
The farm on which they live is rather desolate as they are not in a very close proximity to any of their
neighbours and are often secluded to their house during the winter seasons with their only interactions
being a game of cards with their neighbour, Steven. This scenario in which these two live can be
reflected by the environment around them. The story takes place in the midst of a tremendous blizzard,
the blizzard is so powerful that Ann can t walk outside without being pushed over by the wind. This
snow covered abyss exemplifies how alone the couple is. The darkness and literal isolation from the
rest of the world are clear indicators of this. The dark and cold also represents how Ann views her
relationship with John. She yearns for his affection and his attention, but despite these needs all John
ever does is work. He works himself to the bone so that Ann can be comfortable with her place in life
failing to realize that all she s ever wanted was affection and company, which she eventually finds in
Steven. The Lamp At Noon also makes good use of its setting to help develop the themes as well as
the marriage of this story s couple, Paul and Ellen. The setting of this story is a dried up farm where
no crops grow. The whole farm is shrouded in a cloud of dust and wind. The dust fills the air of Paul
and Ellen s house completely smothering everything with dust. Ellen, coming from a richer household,
urges Paul to leave believing that they have no future here and that the crops will never grow again.
Ellen left a life of comfort and luxury for a dusty, decrepit farm, resulting in feelings of isolation,
anger and hopelessness. However, Paul is determined to stay and live off the land, he has faith that the
crops will grow and their farm will be prosperous once more. This is

Compare The Emergence Of First Financial Crisis In 1720...
The emergence of First Financial Crisis in 1720 and the stock market crash of 1929 were both the
results of speculation, but also market inflex ibilities. The South Sea Bubble of 1720 succeeding
Financial Revolution events in England, had its major shadow on European economy. The crash of
1929 in US was closely tied to post war consequences and the over op timism of Golden 20 .While
both crises were separated in time by the two centuries, similarities between them outgrow the

That s what a lot of Texans what Americans and people around the world to know you don t mess with Texas. In the 1950 s, when President Eisenhower created the first Interstate plan for the country and implemented new roads in almost every single state, it was the largest engineering feat in the modern world. Now, almost half a century later, Governor Rick Perry is set to break that record, with the costliest, largest, and most incredible sized proportion Texas Trans Corridor, dubbed the Texas Superhighway, a 4000 mile, $175 billion dollar project that won t be completely functional for another fifty years (Perry). This project certainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Laredo contains 40% of the United States land ship import traffic. Also, any traveler on the I 35 corridor in Texas runs into hundreds of eighteen wheelers, increasing drivers awareness and causing disarray for drivers who are trying to see the road in front of them. Perry s answer is to shift the traffic away from metropolitan areas. If truck drivers can bypass San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas, the time to their destination would probably save them an entire day in travel. Freight rail services could veer away from San Antonio s railroad yard, an institution bustling with activity in the wee hours of the morning. Also, commuter rail can solve environmental problems and help families keep in touch anywhere in the state without the over burdening costs of driving (Perry). Perry s plan begins with the setup itself: Six, twelve foot vehicle passenger lanes in which the vehicle can travel at 80 miles per hour; Four, thirteen foot truck lanes; Two tracks for each of the following railroad establishments high speed rail, commuter rail, and freight rail. No transportation facility exists like this in the modern world. All of these integrations to modern society are completely bundled into one, and their concept is all the same relieve traffic in urban centers and create a safe and enjoyable experience through the Texas countryside without interruption ... Institutionalized Inequalities Institutionalized inequalities, a societal prejudice against others through a community or organization, is a prevalent issue within the novel, The Bluest Eye , written by Toni Morrison. The use of racial discrimination, gender roles, and class structures construct these inequalities, and illustrates the immoral high road that institutions in the 20th century would follow along. Pecola Breedlove, the main character and the person who falls to victim most frequently, endures numerous setbacks and obstacles that contribute to the analysis on how The Bluest Eye creates such disparities. An example of an institution that promotes internalized racism would be the school in which Claudia, Pecola, and Frieda attend. Maureen Peal, the new kid to the neighborhood, arrives with her head held high on top of her even higher horse. Maureen is a light skinned African American middle classed girl who is held to the highest regard around school, and who kicks those of whom are darker and poorer to the curb. As we have discussed before, there is a scene in which Maureen offers to walk home with Claudia and her sister Frieda. The walk is interrupted abruptly after running into a crying Pecola in the center of a circle of male classmates taunting her. The boys shout slurs at her about her father and her skin tone, completely disregarding that they themselves were black, or that their father had similarly relaxed habits (65) In regards to internalized racism, Morrison states that they seemed to have taken all of their smoothly cultivated ignorance, their exquisitely learned self hatred, their elaborately designed hopelessness and sucked it all up into a fiery cone of scorn that had burned for ages in the hollows of their minds. (65) Maureen stands idly by while Claudia and Frieda help in saving Pecola from the ruthlessness of the African American boys who hate her for something they all have in common, but the boys finish their taunting because of the stigma surrounding Maureen and her light skin. Maureen takes this time to console Pecola, walking the girls towards the ice cream parlor, and pretending to be anything but sinister. The gears switch, Maureen starts bombarding Pecola with questions of her naked father, and in the end regards Pecola as black and ugly while regarding herself as light and cute. Figure 3.6: Implementation of 8x8 Modified Booth Multiplier with HPM Reduction Method [4] The Figure.3.6 shows the implementation 8x8 modified booth multiplier using High Performance Multiplier (HPM) reduction method [4]. The modified booth algorithm is a predominant high performance multiplier which has low number of partial products row. The generation of these partial products is quite complex to implement in hardware. So in this work has used a straight forward way of implementing a Signed and Unsigned Multiplication using Baugh Wooley Algorithm with HPM reduction tree method. Baugh Wooley Multiplier with HPM reduction tree is discussed in Chapter Six. CHAPTER FOUR: LOW POWER DESIGN 4.1 Introduction: In earlier stages of VLSI circuit design the emphasis is on Area and Speed optimization giving concerns to Packaging and Efficient designing. As the technology scales down according to predictions of Moor s Law, it is advent that the CMOS dimensions have been scaled down drastically. But due to increase in use of Portable Devices Such as Cellphones, Laptops, Personal Health Monitoring systems, there has been a demand of higher battery life for Portable devices. Whereas big data centers which contains large set of circuits consumes tremendous power and dissipates large amount of heat which incurs huge cost to maintain. The solution for these problems is to design circuits which consume low power which give rise to the concept of Low Power VLSI designing. As this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Civil Inattention This chapter was an eye opener for me and very informative, but I was really interested in civil inattention. I say this because I am sure we all experience civil inattention everywhere from just simply walking outside, going to the movie theaters, shopping at the mall, shopping at the supermarket, etc. I find it interesting because this is not something that we would even notice or talk about. I know in this society, we don t regularly talk to strangers, we try to avoid eye contact as much as possible. When people stare at you longer than what s acceptable and it doesn t take the attention in the way it was meant to be, then anger could be a result due to misunderstanding. • 10. Understanding The Historical-Cultural Context Paper 1. What can happen when people approach the Bible without any concern for the historical cultural context? We misinterpret what God is trying to say. We need to understand what the audience was going through in the time that God was speaking to them. We need to understand the situation so that it can impact us the way that God intended it to impact the audience he was speaking to. One awesome example that the author points out is the parable of the Good Samaritan. When Jesus starts that A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho by looking at different resources to get the historical context we can find elevation, the route, the weather patterns, and most importantly the terrain. We would find out that Jerusalem is 2500 feet above sea level and Jericho is about 800 feet below sea level. The route is 20 miles and the terrain is very rugged. (Duvall, 2008, p. 53) So we can now understand that the Samaritan could have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides those examples cited in this chapter, please give and explain an example of how understanding the historical cultural context can shed significant light on the meaning of a specific biblical text. Cite the specific passage you are discussing in your post. (ex. Is. 40:27 30). For my example I am going to use a different part of the Parable of the Good Samaritan the Samaritan and the dying Man. A Priest and a Levite passed the man either because they didn t see him or because they may have become ritually unclean. The Samaritan stopped and helped them man dying on the side of the road. The Jews Considered the Samaritans half breeds who had intermarried with foreigners and who were guilty of false worship. So stopping and showing compassion when the others did not would be very humiliating to the Jews in which Jesus was speaking. Through research I found out it would be the equivalent of an atheist homosexual married couple stopping to help a church bus that had just had a serious accident. Starting off her article with a hearty what about the children? , Collins grabs the reader s attention immediately before delving into what research and respected field experts have to say on the matter of interracial families and children (Collins 1984). As many may be aware, there was an out lash on social media websites, such as Twitter and Facebook, over this ad that featured a cheerful interracial couple and their children. The whimsical, laughing family seemed innocent enough, but there was a clear revolt among the more bigoted communities. This lead to a powerful reaction from interracial couples and families who took the rejection of the ad personally. In turn, they posted their own photos of their families to protest the racism and supposed white discrimination that many complained of. This was a very important event because it brought the topic of interracial couples into the spotlight of the media and it was clear that there was a very steady divide between those who accepted and disapproved. • 13. Essay on Racism and the Enslavement of African Americans Racism and the Enslavement of African Americans Did Racism cause enslavement of African Americans? To answer this question you have to determine what a slave is? And what Racism is? By my views and believes, slavery is any type of duty somebody does for you. You own them so they work for you otherwise they will get punished. Now Racism is a negative attitude towards another race. (C Degler pg 65) Because he was a different color John Punch no longer had hope for freedom. Why, because he was African and was braking the law of the land at the time. The grounds for this harsh sentence presumably lay in the fact that he was non Christian rather than in the fact that he was physically dark. Positive Role Model In To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee A positive role model is an individual who possesses positive qualities, such as empathy and integrity, and does good for the betterment of others, which, as a result, influences others to follow their example. The novel, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, is set in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, where racial discrimination and narrow mindedness run rampant. Although these characters show heroism, the definition of heroism does not have to be narrowed to the stereotypical hero. Many people have different concepts on heroism. A hero can be a ordinary person like a firefighter or cop. Heroism is a attribute that a person can obtain but they have to choose actions that help others like a fearless firefighter or cop helping others. Heroism also does not call for a reward for being heroic. Heroism is a quality or an act in all of us that a person uses to benefit for the good of other people even if there is a risk. This means that a hero is more concerned about others instead of having egocentrism and only caring for their own wants. Heroes tone down the evil in the world by being taking more action and caring for other people instead of themselves. The quality of heroism can be shown in the everyday life and people. George Bernard Shaw a playwright and a public figure said, Every reasonable man (and woman) is a potential scoundrel and a potential good citizen. What a man is depends upon his character; what a man does, and what we think of what he does, depends upon his circumstances (Shaw). When you see your peers they might not look special or have superpowers that can save the whole galaxy from an evil demon. Although they can still show heroism that you might not see or notice. In addition to heroism being in most people it can also be faint. Arthur Ashe who was a inspiration to many from being the first black player selected to the United States Davis Cup team states, True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost (Ashe). • 16. Short And Long Term Effects Of The Civil War Essay In 1776, the Civil War began. Most believe war started over the moral issue of slavery, which was a huge conflict in society but in fact it started over the economic standpoint of slavery and political control. A key issue though, was states rights. The South wanted authority over the federal government so they could abolish federal laws that they didn t support. Territorial expansion was another factor in the breakout of the Civil War. The South wanted slavery in the Western territories while the North was committed to being against slavery. While this was going on, a republican party was forming with members who were strongly against westward expansion of slavery, basically taking the North s side. In 1860 when Abraham Lincoln took office, it was made clear to the South that slavery was not going to expand westward. Therefore, the seven states in the South seceded from the Union forming the Confederate States of America, leading to the start of the Civil War. April 12th, 1861 a battle broke out at Fort ... To start off, the North had a demographic advantage over the South. Since there were more civilians in the North than there were in the South, their army was always larger. The Confederacy didn t even have a great Navy. Without a strong Navy, the Confederacy would never be able to really hurt the Union by disrupting it s economy and blockading its ports. Also, most of the battles took place on Northern territories so they knew the land. In 1862, the North had captured New Orleans as well. It goes on to suggest that the relationship found between obesity and depression is differentiated by gender because of the difference in societal expectations placed on women and men (Chaiton, 2009). The study concluded that females experience body dissatisfaction almost solely when they believe they are overweight, whereas both males who believe that they are under or overweight experience body dissatisfaction which can in all cases lead to some level of depression (Chaiton, 2009). As the aforementioned study showed societal expectations concerning appearance can, and often do, affect men just as much as they do women (Chaiton, 2009). Our society pushes men to be big, muscular and manly. To certain degree the more muscular a man is the more attractive he generally is within society. A study from an international journal regarding social behavior and personality concluded that the attractiveness of a man is more important in determining social desirability than the age of the man in question (Perlini, 2001). Analysis Of Gerard Genette s Glossary Of Poetic Terms In recent years, the term narratology has often been associated principally with European structuralism [1], bolstered by the work of Gerard Genette, perhaps one of the most famous narrative theorists. Rather than other theorists, such as Todorov, who s work on the influence of the protagonist on a narrative equilibrium has too provided an insight into different forms and varieties of narratives [2], Genette is more concerned with breaking down the mechanics and processes behind a story, shifting away from the characters and their respective character arcs. He argues that the principalities behind explaining narratology exist in the routine in which the story is presented. In simpler terms, his interest is not in the story itself, but how it is told. [3} In this essay, I will use this as an analytical tool for taking apart a selected narrative. Any good author, playwright, or poet will always tell you that forms of literature will always contain a message. This may be personal, or historical for instance, but underneath the visual and auditory sugar coat of graphology and literary techniques, there always exists an underlying message to influence and engage the reader. This could be ambiguous, or easily recognised, or perhaps in between. One prominent branch of writing subsists in between free verse and poetry, in what is known as Prose . Different methods have different strengths and weaknesses. According to Ross (2009), the comparable transaction method is used and the strength is that it uses the historical actual transactions that are comparable to the Woolworths transaction, so that the valuation is justified by the market conditions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in the comparable transaction method, the expert uses the acquisition of Saks and acquisition of Neiman Marcus as comparable transactions. The methods are correct, as both of these are retailers. However, it is also important to realize the weakness, which is that these two companies do not have exactly the same products as David James. Another weakness is that the number of comparable transactions is too small and the multiples that are used for valuation vary considerably, so that large discrepancies are generated. The DCF method is a useful method. In this case the assumptions that are made in the DCF method are reasonable. The DCF also includes many different scenarios that are used for valuation. However, one of the major weaknesses of this is that the variation of valuation is very large. Therefore, it is reasonable to believe that although both methods are good for valuation purposes, the weaknesses generated could impact the accuracy of the results. The growth rate that is assumed in the DCF valuation is 2.5%, which is reasonable. According to Ross (2009), the growth rate of 2.5% matches the long term growth rate of the Australian economy and therefore it is justified. In this task the concentration of an unknown sample of copper sulphate using colorimetry was used to find the concentration. In this investigation copper sulphate was used which is CuSO4.5H20 as a formula. To make a standard solution which was 1M, the same clean equipment was used to make up the standard solution as used to make sodium carbonate. However there was one difference and that was that the hot distilled water was used to dissolve the copper sulphate crystals. There had to be enough hot water in order to dissolve the crystals into the beaker and then add cold distilled water to cool the solution. After this, the solution was poured into a volumetric flask just about to the 1dm3 line and then it was left there to cool to the same temperature as the room before filling precisely to the 1dm3 line with distilled water. The molar mass of CuSO4.5H20 was 249.5 so that means 249.5g of copper sulphate was needed to dissolve, in order to make a standard solution, into 1dm3of distilled water. Psycho explored in depth the psychosis of its characters and how it connected to Kübler Ross model of grief, and utilized filmmaking techniques, such as mise en scène and motifs, to demonstrate this characteristic of its characters. Hitchcock demonstrated his auteurism in his use of a bird focused motif, a recurring theme in not only Psycho but also his other works, The Birds (1963) in particular, and demonstrated this motif through use of mise en scène. Norman Bates was a hobbyist taxidermist, and took particular interest in birds. His office was decorated with stuffed birds of both predator and prey. In close up shots of the conversation between Norman and Marion Crane (a bird name), Norman was often framed with a predatory bird in a low angle shot, designed to make him appear intimidating. Marion, on the other hand, was framed alongside prey birds in a high angle shot, which showed her defenselessness. According to US Legal, government corruption is when government leaders abuse their political power to extract and accumulate for private enrichment (US Legal, Inc.)[1]. Technically, this is a bad thing because when government leaders use their power for their benefit, it does not necessarily mean that it is beneficial to the public and the society. To prove or disprove this argument, I decided to run an econometric analysis to see whether government corruption hinders or helps economic development. Method: There were three datasets I used for this paper. The first and the main dataset was the dataset that contained the data on government corruption, which came from the Worldwide Governance Indicators excel file posted on World Bank. From this dataset, I pulled out one important variable called Corruption, which is a measure of the government performance. It ranges from 2.5 (bad government performance/corrupted) to 2.5(good government performance/not corrupted). We need to be careful when interpreting this variable because even though this is a corruption measure, higher positive value actually means the government is doing better and less corrupted. The second dataset I used was Penn World Table version 9.0[3]. Short Story The Lamp At Noon And The Painted Door In the short stories The Lamp At Noon and The Painted Door by Sinclair Ross, the use of setting is a tool to help emphasize the relationships of both marriages in each story as well as helping support the motifs of loneliness and isolation. However, this use of setting is much more effective in The Lamp At Noon as opposed to The Painted Door. In The Painted Door, the setting is a small farm which supports a man named John and his wife, Ann. The farm on which they live is rather desolate as they are not in a very close proximity to any of their neighbours and are often secluded to their house during the winter seasons with their only interactions being a game of cards with their neighbour, Steven. This scenario in which these two live can be reflected by the environment around them.
