The Effects Of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease On Obese...
Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Obese Pediatric Population In the United States, increasing
numbers of obesity in pediatric population is major concern in health care field. According to
Center of Disease Control (CDC), in the United States obesity in children from 6 to 11 years of
age in 1980 was seven percent. This rate about three times by 2008, to 20%. Adolescents obesity
from 12 to 19 years of age in 1980 was five percent and this correspondingly rate more than three
times by 2008, to 18% (CDC, 2012). The CDC accepted the measurement standards for
individuals that are overweight or obese established by the National Heart Lung and Blood
Institute; overweight is more than or equal to a body mass index (BMI) of 25% and obese is a
BMI more than or equal to 30% (National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, 2012) Fatty liver
disease is, lipid or fat buildup in liver cells contributing to the liver a yellow hue. The cellular
injury starts dysfunctional metabolic processes which can consequence in lipid collection in liver
cells (McCance, 2014). The causative metabolic processes might be: increased dispersion of fatty
acids in the liver, ineffective transformation of fatty acids to triglycerides instead of phospholipids,
failure to carry lipoproteins out of the cell, free radicals destruct the endoplasmic reticulum,
increased synthesis of fatty acids to triglyceride, decreased synthesis of apoproteins, and un
effective binding of lipids to apoproteins and

The World is Flat -Chapters 7 8 Essay example
The Right Stuff
Constant change and a flat, global competitive market landscape were described by Thomas
Friedman, author of The World is Flat, as triple convergence and was a result of the ten flatteners.
Friedman also stated that in Globalization 1.0, countries had to think globally. In Globalization 2.0,
companies had to think globally to thrive, or at least survive. In Globalization 3.0, individuals have
to think globally to thrive, or at least survive. (Friedman, 2007) The concept of needing individuals
to think globally and thrive in the market led Friedman to travel and report on various educational
cultures across the world. Friedman was determined to find the right stuff to make the youth in
future generations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first ability required in the right stuff is learning how to learn. Friedman discussed the ability to
learn as constant absorption, and self teaching techniques that manifest crystallized intelligence and
enhance the ability of the individual to new innovation. (Friedman, 2007) Life learning is essential
to being competitive individually in the new flat world. Individuals that love learning and are
motivated to search for data or self learn will be stewards of their own compounding education.
(Friedman, 2007)
Navigation, is the second required critical skill set outlined by Friedman s right stuff theory.
Information sourcing is readily available on the web. As internet availability has increased social
thinking that the source of data that flattens the world is credible and factual. However, students
and individuals need to remember that filtering of open source information is critical to
understanding the difference between information, facts and wisdom. (Friedman, 2007) The youth
of the future will need to be able to discern the difference between information and carry forward
credible information and spin it into a new innovation.
Passion and curiosity is a third ability or personality quotient of the right stuff noted by Friedman
is created by culture and an individual s innate desire to improve or self actualize. Passion and the

What Are Richard Feyman s Major Accomplishments
Tyler Swanbeck
3/5/17
Physics
Mr. Jennings
Richard Feynman Richard Feynman is heralded as one of the greatest physicists of all time. This
is mainly because of his achievements in the fields of quantum electrodynamics, and other works
while being a theoretical physicist. Feynman was also able to be recognized as one of the leading
figures in the U.S. atomic bomb program, and received many awards during his lifetime; most
famously the Nobel Prize in 1965.
One of Richard Feynman s most notable achievements was his achievements in remaking modern
day quantum electrodynamics. Quantum electrodynamics is the theory of interaction between light
and matter. Feynman did this by fixing previous mistake that he found in the overall understanding
of the entire theory. The outcome of his work helped other understand such a complex theory
through Feynman diagrams. These diagrams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was able to contribute to the project with the vast knowledge that he had gained through his life
works. He was able to contribute by determining critical masses involved with creating the bombs.
He also was able to invent the Bethe Feynman formula that allowed scientists/physicists to calculate
implosion efficiency. Also, he was able to calculate neutron equations that provided the needed
knowledge to create nuclear reactors.
Feynman was also able to become a world renowned teacher. He first started his career at Cornell as
a physics professor. Later, he then became a professor at Caltech, and his lectures were widely
listened to because of his achievements in the field of physics. Feynman recieved another
achievement in the field of physics called the Oested Medal, but it was now in the field of
teaching. This proved that Feynman was one of, if not, the greatest physicists of all time because
he was able to achieve great feats in both the world of physics as a physicist and as a

Color-Blind Racism
Sociologist define race as a socially defined category based on real or percived biological
differnces between groups of people . In the 19th century biologist came up with the three different
categories that groups the three human races: Mongoloid, Causasoid and Negroid. They belived
that different races where charaterized by biological makeup. But modern sciences have proved
that theory to be wrong because there is no such thing as a pure race. We are 99.9% genetically
idenitcal. Race is just a concept humans made up, it isn t actually real.
A minortiy group is the percentage of a ethnic group in a certain area. While dominate culture
stay dominant even if thy are technically the minorty, people of color are still considered to be
minorties. Sociologists define a minority as a group of people that are different from others in the
same society by race, nationality, religion, or language. A minortiey group is a social group that is
systematically denided access to power and resources avaible to the dominant groups of society (pg
220). Minorties tend to lack in power roles which then are subjected to certain discriminations, and
other unfair treatment. People are put into these minortiy groups because of ... Show more content

play a role in this because the goal is for people to reconize and be aware for race in our everyday

Is War Ever Justified Analysis
Is War Ever Justified Should people be persecuted for their beliefs? The Reign of Terror was a war
that had lasted for eighteen months starting with the execution of the king Louis XIV on January
21st 1793, and ending with the death of the leader of the revolution Robespierre. During those
eighteen months 20,000 to 40,00 people were killed by the guillotine, and many more were killed
by the war. The Reign of Terrorwas not justified because of the internal and external threats were
not very serious, rights were being taken away, and because there were too many deaths, During
the revolution there were some external and internal threats but they were not a major problem for
France. Prussia and Austria did invade France but throughout the war France had an advantage and
stayed winning, according to (document B) France had won the battle of Valmy in 1792, not only
that but it also shows that three years later France had defeated Prussia and Austria and took over the

The Treasure Of Lemon Brown
Every man got a treasure. While walking home in the dark streets of Harlem, Greg Ridley ran
into a downpour. Greg stopped by an abandoned building to elude the rain. He meets an old
Blues singer, Sweet Lemon Brown. Brown shows the young man how a little care goes a long
way. In the short story The Treasure of Lemon Brown, Walter Dean Myers presents the theme of
valuing the little things in life. To begin with, Greg realizes the importance of his father s lectures.
First of all, Mr. Ridley expresses the significance of his sons grades, wishing he had half the
chances Greg has at his age. Greg soon cares about his efforts in school because he wants to stay on
the school s basketball team, and not squander his opportunity... Show more content on

Ridley s lectures, Lemon Brown gets the most out of life despite living in rags. When Mr.
Brown compares Greg to his deceased son, he points out the small details about his kid. For
example, Brown recalls that his son had big eyes like Greg, and told Greg that he could Look
into them moon eyes and see anything you want (4). Appreciating the unique eyes goes to show
that Sweet Lemon Brown cherishes the critical details during his time on Earth. Additionally,
the Blues singer values seniority when he defends his treasure from intruders. For instance, after
hurling his body down the flight of stairs, Brown teaches Greg that When you get as old as
me...you say... Howdy Mr. Pain, sees you back again. Then when Mr. Pain see he can t worry
you none, he go on mess with somebody else (6). Lemon Brown shows Greg that old age comes
with life, and experience helps put fright and pain in the back of your mind and allows you to
work through it. Also, when the old man reveals his treasure to Greg, he shows the kid that
knowing someone cares is the greatest feeling you can get. Lemon shows all his clippings and beat
up harmonica to Greg, explaining how his kid, [Jesse], carrying it around with him like that told
me it meant something to him... (7). After hearing that his son treated his gift like diamonds,

The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography
The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography Americans were alternatively shocked,
alarmed and delighted when Marilyn Monroe appeared on the cover of the first Playboy magazine
in 1953. Since that time, the debate over pornography has become increasingly heated, due in large
part to critics who argue that the medium debases women and teaches young people the wrong
lessons about human sexuality. To gain some fresh insights about these issues, this paper provides
a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to determine whether pornography
should be criminalized in the same fashion and for the same reasons that hate speech is
criminalized. A summary of the research and important findings concerning these issues are
provided in the conclusion. Review and Discussion The issue of pornography has long been the
source of controversy for many Western societies, particularly with respect to its implications for
gender roles and sexuality (Lofgren Martenson Mansson, 2010). For instance, according to Griffith
and Adams (2012), Issues regarding the production and consumption of pornographic materials
continue to be an intensely debated social topic (p. 245). The social context surrounding the debate
over whether pornography should be legal or not includes various principles concerning the
importance of gender equality and compulsory sex educational courses that place a high priority on
unrestricted rights to sexuality for both men and women

resources, which helps spread the costs associated with setting up the infrastructure and running of
such initiative. вћўThe loyalty schemes try to entice new shoppers and reward existing customers.
вћўThe cost of operating such a scheme are greatly reduced due to the shared cost of having
multiple partners involved. вћўPartners in the scheme can avail themselves of a much richer
databank on their customers, analyzing their purchases across a cross section of different products,
purchased in many different outlets. вћўBy leveraging several big brands rather than focus on one

The Duty of the Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve Act was signed into law on December 23, 1913. Due to a series of financial
panics around 1907, the Federal Reserve (also referred to as the Fed ) was created by Congress to
promote a stable banking system and an active economy. The Federal Reserves greatest client and
biggest spender is the government of the United States. All proceeds from taxes generated and
disbursements are managed through the account that the United States government has set up with
the Federal Reserve. The Fed operates independently of the government; however, the Feds
jurisdiction originates from Congress and the Fed is subject to congressional supervision.
Furthermore The President nominates the members of the Board of Governors which must be
confirmed by the Senate. The salaries of the Fed are also set and appointed by the government.
Although the Fed can exercise freedom in monetary determinations, the existing relationship with
the government invites corruption particularly with the present administration and its champagne
socialists.
Thomas Jefferson in the Debate of the Recharger of the Bank Bill in (1809) warned that banking
systems would decimate America. Regardless of the original premise of good intentions, whenever
any system wields this much power manipulation and avarice ensue. Many consider the economic
approach of our forefathers as too primitive and unsophisticated; however, the laws and standards

Temperance Reform Movement
Temperance and Abolitionism The Age of Reform was a time period in the mid 1800 s where
ideals of equality, liberty and the pursuit of happiness defined democracy and spread across
America through a series of reform movements. These reform movements were based on the want
to make America a civilized utopian society. Temperance and Abolitionism were two major reform
movements that happened in this time period, I will be describing and comparing these two reform
movements. The Temperance reform movement was used to end alcohol abuseand the problems
created by it. Fathers would go home drunk and use up the money they earned for his family. It
encouraged people to abstain from consuming alcoholin order to preserve family order. Even though

This reform movement s purpose was to end racial stereotypes segregation, discrimination, and
to abolish slavery. Furthermore, many believed that slavery or owning another person, went
against one of the basic fundamentals that our country was founded on, that all men are created
equal. There was a great divide that eventually led to the civil war that changed our nation. It
divided families, politicians, and our nation. In the result of this divide some wrote newspapers,
for example, one of the most famous was the Liberator written by William Lloyd Garrison.
Delegates from both races and genders met in Philadelphia to found the American Anti Slavery
society, they believed slavery was a sin. There were many displays of hostility from the North
and South. There were violent mobs, burning of mailbags containing abolitionist literature, and
the gag rule itself. The gag rule was the blocked discussion of antislavery petitions. In conclusion,
all of these things later lead to the great civil war. These two movements were both created to
make America a more civilized and a free place to live. Where all men are created equal. But,
one dealing with a commodity, or a product, and people making their own choices. While the
other dealt with people who didn t have a choice, they didn t choose to be slaves. All in all, each
movement was significant in its own way to make America a more civilized society. But the one I
believe improved, changed, and affected the lives of Americans most was the Abolitionist reform
movement because it freed a whole race of people, no one should be able to own

Supply Chain Management Of Supply Chains
Introduction
With the acceleration of global economic integration, the 21st century has become the century of
competition in the supply chain, not just a simple competition between enterprises. In order to win
the competition in the supply chain, which means it must be through the management of the supply
chain. Currently supply chains become more integrated, more global, the high speed development
of information technology has become an important driving force. In this report will explore the
development of supply chain management technologies and important role.
Supply chain and technologies role
Supply chain is the logistic network among suppliers, manufacturing centers, warehouses,
distribution centers, retail and customers. It is about the flow and inventory of raw materials,
manufactured goods and fished goods. The core logistics supply chain management is to satisfy
customer needs. In order to meet requirements it is necessary to minimize enterprises operating
cost. It can make enterprises more competitive, and is the key point of success supply chain
management. However due to the supply chain simultaneously connect suppliers, manufacturers,
distributors and even customers, is a complex network, each link have hidden many risks, is easily
affect the supply chain companies. Therefore, the use of the necessary control measures to ensure
the smooth operation of the supply chain become preconditions to earn profit.
In order to achieve a success supply chain must to be

To What Extent Is the Conservative Party Still Committed...
TO WHAT EXTENT IS THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY STILL COMMITTED TO ITS
TRADITIONAL PRINCIPLES?
Since 1979 the conservative party has undergone significant changes from the traditional
conservative party which focused on ideas about human nature, order and pragmatism, first with
new right conservatism under Thatcher then with the current conservative party. The current
conservative party however, can be seen to still be committed to its traditional conservative
principles such as Euro scepticism and that they remain largely traditionalist. However there are
many ways in which the conservative party has changed such as taxation, education and the welfare
state.
One way the conservative party has changed is through taxation. Traditionally, the... Show more

Another way the party has deviated from traditional conservative principles is through education.
In contrast with the traditional elitist view on education by the conservatives, under Cameron
there has been a strong emphasis on the idea that everybody should be able to go to university if
their ability allows them too, supporting labours policies on scholarships to students from
disadvantaged backgrounds and also attempting to establish more apprenticeship jobs and work
experience jobs to encourage young people who perhaps wouldn t go to university to learn skills
that would provide a better future for them. However, the fact remains that the vast majority of
Cameron s conservatives graduated from private schools which does make the overview of the
party seem very elitist but, its policies and support for scholarship programmes seem to challenge
this idea and show that perhaps the conservative party has changed from that traditional view.
Another thing that shows that the conservative party has stuck to its traditional principles is the
fact that the party is still very traditionalist. The conservative party has always been very
traditionalist in its views and in many ways it still is today, little or no comment is made on social
issues such as gay adoption, the party

Slavery as a Positive Good
Slavery as a Positive Good Question
When referring to the days of slavery, it is often assumed that the south was the sole force behind
its continuance. However there were many factors which lead southerners as well as some in the
north to quietly accept slavery as a good thing. John Calhoun declared in 1837 Many in the South
once believed that [slavery] was a moral and political evil...That folly and delusion are gone; we
see it now in its true light, and regard it as the most safe and stable basis for free institutions in the
world (p. 345). This statement was justified by various reasons. There was the fundamental belief
that Africans were inferior to their white counterparts. Many saw the slave population as a labor

by her charges but as they grow they will come to see her as less than a human being. That won t
necessarily keep them from caring about her, they will simply do so in the way they would love
a cat or dog. Pro slavery advocates were also quick to point out that the great empires of history
were based on slave labor. The Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Persians and so forth were mighty
civilizations that enslaved captives of war as well as criminals. It is possible to assume that
since these societies were able to focus of innovation and thinking because of their slave work
force that the south too would flourish intellectually. Whether or not this is true is debatable. Yes
there were several southern inventors and writers of the time but to compare it to the advances of
the past would be difficult. In conclusion, the positive good argument was nothing short of a
means for whites of all classes on both sides of the Mason Dixie line to ease their own guilt over
the institution of slavery. It is human nature to put a positive spin on something we benefit from.
Wars have been waged under the precipice of uniting territories, bringing order, divine right, and
alike while the true motivations have been wealth, power and glory. The south was no different

understanding of what real demand is. Each group has control over only a part of the supply

each group is influenced by decisions that others are making. This lack of coordination coupled
with the ability to influence while being influenced by others leads to what Stanford s Hau Lee

Intrinsic Value Of The Cvs Health Corporation
Introduction
For this project analysis I will attempt to calculate the intrinsic value of the CVS Health
Corporation by conducting a two stage DCF company level valuation analysis, I will compare my
results to the current market capitalization of the company as shown on the Yahoo Finance web
page. Finally, I will perform a sensitivity analysis using variables such as free cash flow, terminal
growth rate and WACC.
Calculate intrinsic Value of your Company: Discount cash flow method This is an important
valuation method used to estimate the desirability of an investment opportunity. Discounted cash
flow (DCF) analysis uses future free cash flow projections and discounts them (using the weighted
average cost of capital) to arrive at a present value. The calculated present value is then used to
evaluate the potential for investment. For this project, the DCF analysis will be used to evaluate
the intrinsic value of the CVS health corporation ( DCF, n.d.).
Intrinsic Value of CVS Health Corporation:
The intrinsic value of a company is what the company is actually worth. As mentioned above, to
calculate the Intrinsic Value of CVS Health Corporation, I will use the two stage company level
Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) valuation model.
The intrinsic value for CVS Health (minus debt) is calculated as 78,750,096,600 dollars (78.75
Billion dollars). The intrinsic value was calculated using free cash flow, WACC for CVS, growth

Corruption In Oliver Twist
With his view on people, influenced by the faith of the goodness in humanity, Charles dickens
portrays in a compassionate way the poor and overlooked s poor conditions in the 1800 century, in
his popular novel Oliver Twist .
London, it was here the industrial revelation commenced, and it became the biggest social
alteration in history. People left their homes, and traveled from the countryside to the big city
for work at the new factories. Millions came to let time pass by, while living in miserable poverty.
Hard workers, children of the street, prostitutes, thieves and beggars where all part of the group of

Essay On Genetic Engineering Babies
The process of creating a designer baby is often questioned because of its shaky moral platform.
Though there are certainly some positive things that can be obtained from the use of genetic
engineering used on unborn babies, though there are questions on whether or not people are
choosing their babies genes for reasons relating to. This is because people will start choosing
their babies genes based on whether they want their children to be intelligent or sporty. This will

Dying Swan Analysis
The composition called The Swan performed by Yo Yo Ma, the poem called The Dying Swan by
Alfred Lord Tennyson, and the ballet of Le Cygne (The Swan) by Anna Pavlova connected to
each other clearly and meaningfully by describing how The Swan s experience connects to human
being s life cycle. The compositions musical elements connect to the poem because it starts with a
depressing and miserable sound as how the poem starts in the first stanza. Then, the composition
gives an inspiring emotion to the listener as how the poem gives inspiration to the reader.
Furthermore, the composition also connects to the ballet because it follows the rhythm and
melody of the composition by creating a dance that expresses an aching heart over people dying,
peace of the deceased, and it inspired people to accept death as the dying swan accepted its own
death. The ballerina shifted her speed with the tempo of the musicsymbolizing the meaning and
feeling of the poem. The composer s choices were effective in creating such a dramatic moment
because the composition, ballet, and poem flew along as they instilled a mournful and content joy
causing a death confronting inspiration. The instrumentation in The Swan composition is a
violincello that was transcribed by the harp and viola, and the tempo is played both slowly and
quickly. The cellois the baritone of the strings, which creates a melodious tone both deep and
dulcet. Furthermore, the other instruments that were played in the background were the harp
and violas, which are the accompaniments of the cello s solo. The harp has a ringlike sharp
tone and the viola provides a lower pitch that has a rich, complete tone. The harp and the viola
play a harmony, timbre, and rhythm for the cello s solo. Additionally, cellos are usually used to
compose classical music, which probably influenced the composer to use a cello because it will
connect better to The Dying Swan poem. The cello created a deeply inspirational sound that
other instruments would of probably have failed to produce. Moreover, the tempo of the
composition starts off by playing slowly, to give a serious or solemn feeling because the poem
starts off by giving a vivid depressed feeling to the reader. Then, in some parts of the

American Empire Vs Ottoman Empire
We have lost control of most of the land that used to make up the Ottoman Empire, our Empire is
falling apart; all we want to do is to keep what land we have for as long as we can. We have also
spent a great amount of money during the war and just want a chance to recover and stabilize.
We, the Ottoman Empire, prefer to end colonization, if the colonies of the European countries
were to become independent we could possibly make alliances with them to expand our
influence. We favor this idea because we believe we can become friends with these small
countries and we then can benefit and help each other. Also, we have less to fear from a Europe of
small countries than a Europe of large states. Although this would not bring back our Empire, it

Solar Energy Essay
Solar Energy
What do the bubonic plague in the 14th century, the influenza epidemic of the early 20th century
and the spread of HIV/AIDS in the late 20th and early 21st centuries have in common? One
answer, according to Joel B. Stronberg author of the American Solar Energy Society s Common
Sense, is that they have all been called pandemics. According to Merriam Webster.com, a pandemic
occurs over a wide geographic distribution and affects an exceptionally high proportion of the
population. Joel B. Stronberg declares that we are currently facing another pandemic. This
pandemic is the combination of the consequences of burning fossil fuels. The two major problems

The potential of solar energy is tremendous. We should take advantage of this opportunity and
make solar energy usage more common!
Since solar radiation produces so much energy, why aren t we using a lot more of it? Solar
energy does have some disadvantages. One of the major problems with solar energy is the
intermittent speed at which it arrives at the Earth s surface. This causes problems with
consistency when heating or lighting. Another drawback to solar energy is that it requires great
space to be gathered in effective quantities. This makes it difficult to place the solar panels in
areas where space is costly, valuable, or unavailable. A final reason why we are not using solar
energy is because it is quite costly. According to JC Solar Homes, it would cost a homeowner
roughly one hundred to two hundred thousand dollars to convert his or her home to solar energy.
Obviously, this is not realistic or reasonable for most people; therefore, solar energy is often
overlooked as a serious possibility for solving our approaching energy pandemic.
There are different types of commonly used solar energy conversions. Photovoltaic energy is
commonly called solar cell energy. PV is a non mechanical device that converts sunlight into
electricity. Solar thermal heat is being used in swimming pools, space heating and to heat water for
domesticated uses. Solar thermal power plants use sunlight to heat a liquid which turns into steam.

The History Of The Slave Trade
The history of the slave trade is one that most people would want to forget. Though, forgetting
such an important era in the history of the world is not only wrong but a recipe for repeating
other such mistakes. According to Capone (2007), more than 11 million Africans were taken to
the New World in the period between the 16th and mid 19th centuries. More than any other colony
in the Americas: Brazil received the largest portion of the slaves. The Brazilian coastline was
especially a major hosting ground for the new Africans who were arriving from the western African

The first European to uncover Brazil was Pedro Alveres Cabral, who made the discovery in
1500. Consequently, the Europeans settled in Brazil with the initial intention of harvesting
Brazilian wood, however, sugar was found to grow very well in Brazil. The profits of sugar went
further than those that were being reaped from the wood; which meant sugar would become the
main Brazilian export. Over time, Brazil made a name for itself as the production of not just the
best sugar, but also the main producer in the Atlantic world. Therefore, the nature of the sugar
trade and its growth created challenges within the farming process that turned out to be very labor
intensive. The reality was very few European farmers, which made it a task for them to meet the
proper labor demands while the native population was not very effective in handling the pressures
that were distinctive in the sugar plantations. This forced the sugar farmers to resort to importing
labor in the form of slaves. In the initial stages, the Portuguese were getting about 5,000 slaves
annually. These slaves were mainly gotten from Angola and in West Africa and were being sent to
Brazil (Behrendt, 1997).
As time moved on, the number of slaves being transported to Brazil continued to increase
recurrently. According to Selka (2007), more than a million slaves had been imported to Brazil by
the turn of the 18th century.

Josephine Tey s The Daughter Of Time
Until I read The Daughter of Time, I liked history. This was fortunate, since the curriculum my
mother used to homeschool me and my sisters was literature based, and as a result, we read a lot
of historical fiction. Some I enjoyed more than others, but over the years, as I grew to be quite a
voracious reader, historical fictionremained one of my most commonly read genres. And as my
reading comprehension developed, classic literature and several historical biographies slipped into
my reading list. I knew I enjoyed history, but only in a vague, half conscious manner. The fact that
many of the books I read were award winning and historically accurate was incidental.
Enter Josephine Tey and Richard III. When I was around fifteen, a friend of my mother s
recommended that we try BBC Radio. Accordingly we found the site; and the book that was
currently airing was The Daughter of Time.

A wind farm supervisory control (WFSC) is developed to generate the active power reference to
the RSC and GSC. WTG controllers then regulate each DFIG wind turbine to generate the desired
amount of active power, where the deviations between the available wind energy input and
desired active power output are compensated by the ESS. Simulation is done in Matlab for the
grid connected wind farm, the wind farm consists of 15 DFIG wind turbines each with 4MW
capacity at different and constant wind speeds. A constant active power Pref is taken at 38MW
which can be specified by the grid operator and the wind farm has to supply this constant active
power. Simulation results are studied for the active power supplied by wind farm with and without

Josef Stalin and Mao Zedong were both very similar and still quite different. Each of these great
leaders wished to transform his country into something new and powerful. Though their methods of
rule were not the same, they each were extremely effective leaders and had enormous impacts on
his own country. Russia, before Stalin, could absolutely be considered as being a weak and peasant
country. China, before Mao Zedong, was attempting, but failing, to modernize efficiently under
Nationalism. These two countries under Stalin and Mao Zedong advanced quickly and went from

Though Stalin was the main reason Russia is the strong country it is currently, countless people
died. In fact, Stalin executed more people than Hitler killed, which is a horrific amount. China,
like Russia, was not an advanced country in the least. The country was ruled by corrupt
nationalists, who despised communists and killed them. This made China s change from a
more nationalistic governing to a communist system very difficult and very bloody. Mao
Zedong was a leader in the communist party during the civil war between nationalists and
communists. He began as a strong and well loved leader, quite opposite from Stalin. Mao
Zedong would listen to others very well and try to understand their way of thinking, which made
him a very successful and loved leader. But when the communist party took over China, he
began to change into a hard headed and less understanding man. Communism under Mao
Zedong was beneficial for China. Mao Zedong pushed the citizens of China to be cooperative
with each other and share all of their belongings. He also tried to gain the trust and love of all
the lower class citizens by taking lands from the higher class citizens and giving them to lower
class citizens. He killed many landlords, which the majority of Chinese love him. He was praised
for his cruelty. So, in the end, Stalin and Mao Zedong became somewhat similar in their leadership,

Oedipus was a good leader. He had traits similar to leaders of today. Oedipus was a dedicated

The Soviet Prison Labor Camp System
Solzhenitsyn envisioned and captured the persona of the Soviet prison labor camp system by
describing as a chain of hidden islands amongst the USSR landscape. Solzhenitsyn sees himself
lifting the shroud that the Soviet regime tried to hide the gulags behind by telling his story of his
time in the gulags. Reading his book gave the reader the sense of reading a forbidden text,
something surrounded in secrecy. Solzhenitsyn develops themes throughout the book. These fetid
and morbid islands would see millions of unfortunate visitors forced to slave away at one of the
world s largest and fastest infrastructure and industrialization builds in the history of mankind
perpetuated by the will of Stalin and his secret police the NKVD. In this beautifully and
treacherously written story, Alexander Solzhenitsyn goes from his glory filled days as a
distinguished officer to just an exhausted instrument of the Soviet state. Solzhenitsyn describes
early on in the book about the cryptic nature of the gulag. No one knows and no one asks about the
gulags. The only way to get to the fabled islands is to be a member within the Ministry of
Internal Affairs, a conscripted guard, or one of the millions sent to their doom. This same
mysticism is projected well into his work, as the Gulag Archipelago was a banned piece of work
by the communist party. The reader can feel a risky nature to reading the novel.

Disillusionment In The Great Gatsby Analysis
The 1920 s were a time of peace after World War I. However, the harrowing events of the war
caused people to become disillusioned with the American Dream. F. Scott Fitzgerald demonstrates
this in his novel The Great Gatsby. Different elements of the book represent different ways in
which the American Dream declined. Tom and Myrtle s affair shows how people lacked morality,
Daisy s marriage with Tom demonstrates how people gave up happiness for money, Wilson s anger
at the billboard of T.J. Eckleberg represents how the American people felt that God was punishing
them, and Nick s final words to the reader exemplify that repetition of the past is inevitable.
Throughout the novel, Fitzgerald created situations to exhibit disillusionment with... Show more

The end of World War I was, in actuality, just a predecessor for World War II. With brief peace, the
feeling of uneasiness loomed. In Lost Generation in the 1920s: 1919 1927, Carlisle states, Thus
in Europe, World War I clearly gave birth to a set of discontents that would coalesce into World
War II, (Carlisle). This feeling resided in the minds of the people. Fitzgerald expressed this in the
last words of the novel, narrated by Nick Carraway, So we beat on, boats against the current, borne
back ceaselessly into the past, (180). The current is the inevitability of the past recurring. Fitzgerald
ends the novel this way to exhibit that all the events of the war are bound to repeat, and to cement
the idea that humanity will never morally advance. This belief of hopelessness is the last element in
the multi faceted predicament of the American people s disillusionment. F. Scott Fitzgeraldused
different components to represent the post war disenchantment with the American Dream. Myrtle s
immoral actions exemplify the lack of respect for ethics, Daisy s marriage shows the preference of
the American People of wealth over happiness, Wilson s anger reflects the feeling of punishment
from God, and the final words of the book display the inevitability of the past repeating. Given the
political context in which the novel was written, it truly represents the decline of the American

I am interested in this topic because of my plan of influence on high school student athletes as an

treatment and altering the grades of exceptional athletes. Many problems and scandals are difficult
to identify because of the secrecy surrounding the situation. Grade altering is not one of those
problems. Grade altering stories are readily available in both local and national newspapers.
There is a growing problem where much of a school s popularity and funding stems from athletic
success. Even more, if a school has a student or group of students with great athletic ability, the

These are relationships in which individuals live close to each other for extended periods of time.
In a parasite host relationship, one organism benefits at the expense of the other organism.
Typically, the host organism is not killed by the parasite. A tick attaching itself to a deeris an
example of a parasite host relationship. The tick is the parasite, and the deer is the host.
In symbiotic mutualism, the two organisms benefit each other. A good example is the relationship
between some ants and acacia trees. Acacia trees have large thorns that the ants can hollow out and
live inside. The trees also excrete sweet nectar that feeds the resident ants. In return, the ants benefit
the acacia tree by attacking any insects that attempt to eat the tree.
Commensalism refers to a relationship in which one organism benefits and the other organism is
not significantly affected. The relationship between cattle and birds called cattle egrets is a good
example of commensalism. As cattle graze in grasslands, they disturb many insects that hide among
the grasses. Egrets follow the cattle and eat the insects that are disturbed by the grazing cattle. The
egrets benefit, but the cattle are not significantly affected by this

The Things They Carried written by Tim O’Brien
A Corrupted Moral In works such as the novel The Things They Carried written by Tim O Brien
and the movie Full Metal Jacket directed by Stanley Kubrick, we see the hardships soldiers had
to pass through during training and the Vietnam War. As it is stated in O Brien s book They
carried all the emotional baggage of men who might die. Grief, terror, love, longing these were
intangibles, but the intangibles had their own mass and specific gravity, they had a tangible
weight (O Brien 20). After stating all of the things they actually carried O Brien makes reference
to them carrying emotional weight, to let the reader know that there was more to the war than
fighting. They had other reasons to be there, such not wanting to be titled as cowards for not
enlisting themselves in the war. In Full Metal Jacket the emotional weight they have on
themselves is also visible throughout the whole movie. The emotional burden caused some of the
soldiers such as Private Leonard Lawrence to enlist in the training although he clearly was unfit
for the job. This resulted in an amazing turn of events since due to intrinsic motivation to not be
the source of everyone s laugh, he becomes someone completely different. At the end of the first
part of the movie Pvt. Lawrence was no longer that unfit soldier we see at the beginning, he had
changed to be a vicious person with a death wish. In both works we see the physical and emotional
struggles soldiers had to undergo causing them to develop an

The procedures of moving inputs into completed items and administrations (operation) appear to
have keep running into a few issues that require Sony s prompt consideration. In the event that the
different operation related issues specified above are not satisfactorily and immediately tended to,
they may influence the operational productivity and viability of the essential exercises (out bound
logistics, showcasing and deals and in addition administration) downstream. The absence of
between unit coordination and cooperative energies because of the organization s blend are various
organizations are legitimately the two grounds that have influenced operation proficiency and
viability. In spite of the fact that Sony has reported that it has seen an emotional increment in
inward collaboration between the equipment and programming directors, more work should be
done and persistent reconnaissance is still needed. The act of good systems administration should in
the long run turn into a society of Sony for the organization to manage its game changer.
Subsequently, driving Sony to its constraints regarding

Persuasive Essay On Clean Water
A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that falls in it drains off or goes to a
common outlet (USGS, 2016). Unknown to many, a watershed could be as small as a footprint,
but also as large as a lake. The word watershed is interchangeable with drainage basins or
catchment (USGS, 2016). Watersheds are important because it controls the flow of rivers and
the water that gets to a certain place and this is how we get our fresh water. If the watershed is
ruined or destroyed, then the price of water and clean water will then get worse, the prices will
become higher to fix damages and the water could be unsafe to drink. When I say ruined it
means that water flow and clean rivers will change path or dry up. Since the major issue is that
the bodies of water emptying into our watershed are polluted, the plan we have come up with is
to make the rivers clean by putting nets up and down the major rivers in Colorado and collecting
garbage. To be specific, a problem faced by our watershed t is the buildup of plastics and
Styrofoam. In fact, out of 50 billion bottles sold every year only 20% are recycled (Scholtus,
2009). This number is stunning due to the recyclingprograms we have and all the proper ways to
get rid of plastic water bottles (Scholtus 2009). With the excess amount of plastics and Styrofoam
that end up in our watershed, areas might end up getting clogged and thus changing the path of a
stream. Not to mention, such change in the flow of water is also

Clinical Outcomes Of Helicobacter Pylori Infection
Abstract
Background: Clinical outcomes of Helicobacter pylori infection may be associated with specific
vacA s1 subtypes.
Aim: This study examined the association between H. pylori vacA s1 subtypes and gastric biopsy
histopathology scores in the northern Canadian Aboriginal communities of Old Crow, YT and Fort
McPherson, NWT.
Methods: Isolates from 56 residents with the H. pylori vacA s1 allele were subtyped using
polymerase chain reaction. Odds ratios were calculated to assess the association between vacA s1
subtype and histopathology score.
Results: Thirty three isolates typed as vacA s1a, 10 as s1b, 4 as both s1a and s1b and 9 were
untypable. The presence of the vacA s1a allele was associated with increased odds of experiencing

pylori associated gastric pathology.
Introduction
Helicobacter pylori is an important human pathogen that chronically infects the gastric and
duodenal mucosa (1). It affects approximately 50% of the population worldwide, and is associated
with multiple gastric pathologies, including gastritis, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastric cancer
(GC) and mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma (2). While the majority of
individuals infected with H. pylori are asymptomatic, essentially all develop chronic
inflammation (3). Among infected individuals, approximately 10% develop PUD, 1 3%
progresses to GC and 0.1% develop MALT lymphoma (3). Clinical outcomes of long term
infection vary, as disease severity is thought to be related to a combination of host genetics,
environmental factors, and genetic heterogeneity of H. pylori (2). Helicobacter pylori exhibits a
much greater genetic diversity than most bacteria, and this is often attributed to the differences in
prevalence and expression of bacterial virulence factors that may impact the outcome of gastric
disease (4). Several virulence genes related to the risk of gastric disease have been identified,
including cagA, cagE, vacA, iceA, and babA2 (2). A large number of studies have shown that VacA
producing H. pylori strains are related to more severe clinical outcomes, although the genetic
mechanism(s) underlying this observed associations is not yet

Social Network Sites and Social Interaction
Introduction Literature Review Human beings are social beings and as such, social interaction
with others is crucial to one s definition, and perception of the self. Social interaction happens
everyday, and there are many components that work collaboratively in order to make these
encounters flow in a smooth manner (Goffman). Everyone engages in what Goffman called
impression management (IM) and this is which means that every participant in a social
interaction defines the situation with the information that is being exchanged, and this
information is modified in a way that allows individuals to obtain a desired reaction from others.
There are various tactics of IM and one of them is called self presentation. Self presentation
encompasses all of the efforts individuals make in order to influence others perceptions of
themselves (cite). Early scholars such as Goffman referred to these practices as happening on a
face to face basis. However, as society adopted SNSs, social interaction as well as IM, and self
presentation have also been adapted into the virtual world, and so all of the WEB s a stage
(cite). Social network sites is defined as web based services that allow individuals to (1) construct
a public or semi public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with
whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made
by others within the system (cite, real). Social network sites such as

The World is Flat -Chapters 7 8 Essay example The Right Stuff Constant change and a flat, global competitive market landscape were described by Thomas Friedman, author of The World is Flat, as triple convergence and was a result of the ten flatteners. Friedman also stated that in Globalization 1.0, countries had to think globally. In Globalization 2.0, companies had to think globally to thrive, or at least survive. In Globalization 3.0, individuals have to think globally to thrive, or at least survive. Individuals that love learning and are motivated to search for data or self learn will be stewards of their own compounding education. Feynman was also able to be recognized as one of the leading figures in the U.S. atomic bomb program, and received many awards during his lifetime; most famously the Nobel Prize in 1965. One of Richard Feynman s most notable achievements was his achievements in remaking modern day quantum electrodynamics. Quantum electrodynamics is the theory of interaction between light and matter. In the 19th century biologist came up with the three different categories that groups the three human races: Mongoloid, Causasoid and Negroid. They belived that different races where charaterized by biological makeup. But modern sciences have proved that theory to be wrong because there is no such thing as a pure race. We are 99.9% genetically idenitcal. Race is just a concept humans made up, it isn t actually real. A minortiy group is the percentage of a ethnic group in a certain area. The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography Americans were alternatively shocked, alarmed and delighted when Marilyn Monroe appeared on the cover of the first Playboy magazine in 1953. Since that time, the debate over pornography has become increasingly heated, due in large part to critics who argue that the medium debases women and teaches young people the wrong lessons about human sexuality. To gain some fresh insights about these issues, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to determine whether pornography should be criminalized in the same fashion and for the same reasons that hate speech is criminalized. A summary of the research and important findings concerning these issues are provided in the conclusion. The Federal Reserves greatest client and biggest spender is the government of the United States. Calculate intrinsic Value of your Company: Discount cash flow method This is an important valuation method used to estimate the desirability of an investment opportunity. Discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis uses future free cash flow projections and discounts them (using the weighted average cost of capital) to arrive at a present value. Dying Swan Analysis The composition called The Swan performed by Yo Yo Ma, the poem called The Dying Swan by Alfred Lord Tennyson, and the ballet of Le Cygne (The Swan) by Anna Pavlova connected to each other clearly and meaningfully by describing how The Swan s experience connects to human being s life cycle. The compositions musical elements connect to the poem because it starts with a depressing and miserable sound as how the poem starts in the first stanza. Then, the composition gives an inspiring emotion to the listener as how the poem gives inspiration to the reader. Furthermore, the composition also connects to the ballet because it follows the rhythm and melody of the composition by creating a dance that expresses an aching heart over people dying, peace of the deceased, and it inspired people to accept death as the dying swan accepted its own death. The ballerina shifted her speed with the tempo of the musicsymbolizing the meaning and feeling of the poem. The composer s choices were effective in creating such a dramatic moment because the composition, ballet, and poem flew along as they instilled a mournful and content joy causing a death confronting inspiration. The instrumentation in The Swan composition is a violincello that was transcribed by the harp and viola, and the tempo is played both slowly and quickly. The cellois the baritone of the strings, which creates a melodious tone both deep and dulcet. Furthermore, the other instruments that were played in the background were the harp and violas, which are the accompaniments of the cello s solo. The harp has a ringlike sharp tone and the viola provides a lower pitch that has a rich, complete tone. The harp and the viola play a harmony, timbre, and rhythm for the cello s solo. Additionally, cellos are usually used to compose classical music, which probably influenced the composer to use a cello because it will connect better to The Dying Swan poem. The cello created a deeply inspirational sound that other instruments would of probably have failed to produce. Moreover, the tempo of the composition starts off by playing slowly, to give a serious or solemn feeling because the poem starts off by giving a vivid depressed feeling to the reader. We, the Ottoman Empire, prefer to end colonization, if the colonies of the European countries were to become independent we could possibly make alliances with them to expand our influence. Solar Energy Essay Solar Energy What do the bubonic plague in the 14th century, the influenza epidemic of the early 20th century and the spread of HIV/AIDS in the late 20th and early 21st centuries have in common? One answer, according to Joel B. Stronberg author of the American Solar Energy Society s Common Sense, is that they have all been called pandemics. According to Merriam Webster.com, a pandemic occurs over a wide geographic distribution and affects an exceptionally high proportion of the population. Joel B. We should take advantage of this opportunity and make solar energy usage more common! Since solar radiation produces so much energy, why aren t we using a lot more of it? Solar energy does have some disadvantages. One of the major problems with solar energy is the intermittent speed at which it arrives at the Earth s surface. This causes problems with consistency when heating or lighting. Another drawback to solar energy is that it requires great space to be gathered in effective quantities. This makes it difficult to place the solar panels in areas where space is costly, valuable, or unavailable. A final reason why we are not using solar energy is because it is quite costly. According to JC Solar Homes, it would cost a homeowner roughly one hundred to two hundred thousand dollars to convert his or her home to solar energy. Obviously, this is not realistic or reasonable for most people; therefore, solar energy is often overlooked as a serious possibility for solving our approaching energy pandemic. There are different types of commonly used solar energy conversions. Photovoltaic energy is commonly called solar cell energy. PV is a non mechanical device that converts sunlight into electricity. Solar thermal heat is being used in swimming pools, space heating and to heat water for domesticated uses. Solar thermal power plants use sunlight to heat a liquid which turns into steam. The ... The first European to uncover Brazil was Pedro Alveres Cabral, who made the discovery in 1500. Consequently, the Europeans settled in Brazil with the initial intention of harvesting Brazilian wood, however, sugar was found to grow very well in Brazil. The profits of sugar went further than those that were being reaped from the wood; which meant sugar would become the main Brazilian export. Over time, Brazil made a name for itself as the production of not just the best sugar, but also the main producer in the Atlantic world. Therefore, the nature of the sugar trade and its growth created challenges within the farming process that turned out to be very labor intensive. The reality was very few European farmers, which made it a task for them to meet the proper labor demands while the native population was not very effective in handling the pressures that were distinctive in the sugar plantations. This forced the sugar farmers to resort to importing labor in the form of slaves. In the initial stages, the Portuguese were getting about 5,000 slaves annually. These slaves were mainly gotten from Angola and in West Africa and were being sent to Brazil (Behrendt, 1997). As time moved on, the number of slaves being transported to Brazil continued to increase recurrently. The value chain analysis for Sony Corporation A value chain is a situated of exercises that an organisation completes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The procedures of moving inputs into completed items and administrations (operation) appear to have keep running into a few issues that require Sony s prompt consideration. In the event that the different operation related issues specified above are not satisfactorily and immediately tended to, they may influence the operational productivity and viability of the essential exercises (out bound logistics, showcasing and deals and in addition administration) downstream. The absence of between unit coordination and cooperative energies because of the organization s blend are various organizations are legitimately the two grounds that have influenced operation proficiency and viability. In spite of the fact that Sony has reported that it has seen an emotional increment in inward collaboration between the equipment and programming directors, more work should be done and persistent reconnaissance is still needed. The act of good systems administration should in the long run turn into a society of Sony for the organization to manage its game changer. Subsequently, driving Sony to its constraints regarding ... • 43. Persuasive Essay On Clean Water A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that falls in it drains off or goes to a common outlet (USGS, 2016). Unknown to many, a watershed could be as small as a footprint, but also as large as a lake. The word watershed is interchangeable with drainage basins or catchment (USGS, 2016). Watersheds are important because it controls the flow of rivers and the water that gets to a certain place and this is how we get our fresh water. If the watershed is ruined or destroyed, then the price of water and clean water will then get worse, the prices will become higher to fix damages and the water could be unsafe to drink. When I say ruined it means that water flow and clean rivers will change path or dry up. Since the major issue is that the bodies of water emptying into our watershed are polluted, the plan we have come up with is to make the rivers clean by putting nets up and down the major rivers in Colorado and collecting garbage. To be specific, a problem faced by our watershed t is the buildup of plastics and Styrofoam. In fact, out of 50 billion bottles sold every year only 20% are recycled (Scholtus, 2009). This number is stunning due to the recyclingprograms we have and all the proper ways to get rid of plastic water bottles (Scholtus 2009). With the excess amount of plastics and Styrofoam that end up in our watershed, areas might end up getting clogged and thus changing the path of a stream. Not to mention, such change in the flow of water is also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Clinical Outcomes Of Helicobacter Pylori Infection Abstract Background: Clinical outcomes of Helicobacter pylori infection may be associated with specific vacA s1 subtypes. Aim: This study examined the association between H. pylori vacA s1 subtypes and gastric biopsy histopathology scores in the northern Canadian Aboriginal communities of Old Crow, YT and Fort McPherson, NWT. Methods: Isolates from 56 residents with the H. pylori vacA s1 allele were subtyped using polymerase chain reaction. Odds ratios were calculated to assess the association between vacA s1 subtype and histopathology score. Results: Thirty three isolates typed as vacA s1a, 10 as s1b, 4 as both s1a and s1b and 9 were untypable. The presence of the vacA s1a allele was associated with increased odds of experiencing gastric ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... pylori associated gastric pathology. Introduction Helicobacter pylori is an important human pathogen that chronically infects the gastric and duodenal mucosa (1). It affects approximately 50% of the population worldwide, and is associated with multiple gastric pathologies, including gastritis, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastric cancer (GC) and mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma (2). While the majority of individuals infected with H. pylori are asymptomatic, essentially all develop chronic inflammation (3). Among infected individuals, approximately 10% develop PUD, 1 3% progresses to GC and 0.1% develop MALT lymphoma (3). Clinical outcomes of long term infection vary, as disease severity is thought to be related to a combination of host genetics, environmental factors, and genetic heterogeneity of H. pylori (2). Helicobacter pylori exhibits a much greater genetic diversity than most bacteria, and this is often attributed to the differences in prevalence and expression of bacterial virulence factors that may impact the outcome of gastric disease (4). Several virulence genes related to the risk of gastric disease have been identified, including cagA, cagE, vacA, iceA, and babA2 (2). A large number of studies have shown that VacA producing H. pylori strains are related to more severe clinical outcomes, although the genetic mechanism(s) underlying this observed associations is not yet ... • 45. Social Network Sites and Social Interaction Introduction Literature Review Human beings are social beings and as such, social interaction with others is crucial to one s definition, and perception of the self. Social interaction happens everyday, and there are many components that work collaboratively in order to make these encounters flow in a smooth manner (Goffman). Everyone engages in what Goffman called impression management (IM) and this is which means that every participant in a social interaction defines the situation with the information that is being exchanged, and this information is modified in a way that allows individuals to obtain a desired reaction from others. There are various tactics of IM and one of them is called self presentation. Self presentation encompasses all of the efforts individuals make in order to influence others perceptions of themselves (cite). Early scholars such as Goffman referred to these practices as happening on a face to face basis. However, as society adopted SNSs, social interaction as well as IM, and self presentation have also been adapted into the virtual world, and so all of the WEB s a stage (cite). Social network sites is defined as web based services that allow individuals to (1) construct a public or semi public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system (cite, real). Social network sites such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
