Tanta University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry, Tanta 31527, Egypt.
Abstract 2 Naphthol has been selectively oxidized to 2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone (HNQ, Lawsone)
with hydrogen peroxide in presence of
5, 10, 15, 20 tetrakis (p sulfonatophenyl)porphinatomanganese (III) chloride as catalyst in alkaline
aqueous solution. The catalytic oxidation afforded
2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone in high yield (95 %). The effect of reaction parameters on the catalytic
activity and the yield of HNQ have been investigated. UV vis spectral analysis during oxidation
reaction indicated that oxomanganese intermediate O=Mn(IV)TPPSCl was the active species in the
oxidation reaction.
Keywords: Selective catalytic oxidation; 2 Naphthol; Metalloporphyrins; 2 Hydroxy 1,4
naphthoquinone, Hydrogen peroxide.

Media Influence On History
History can be shaped and affected by many factors, and the media, is one factor which has the power
to shape and affect history to a great extent. Censorship and indoctrination are two on of the many
ways media can shape history. Firstly, the influence media has on amount of censorship, shapes
history as it occurs, affecting what information the enemies have access to and public understanding
and opinion. Secondly inaccurate and biased information presented by the media, can cause the
indoctrination of the audience, as well as making it harder for future historians to find accurate sources
of the truth. The Tet Offensive (1968), a month long attack by North Vietnam on South Vietnamese
and American forces during the The Vietnam War (1955 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effect of censorship is reflected in the Tet Offensive, where the uncensored pictures and videos
showed the brutality of the war in Vietnam. Previous to the Tet Offensive, the media had presented the
war going positively, which was backed by repeated reassurances from both the military and the
Johnson administration that the end was in sight. The Tet Offensive contradicted this, exposing the
credibility gap between what Americans were being told about the war and the reality of the conflict,
undermining the credibility of the American and political and military leadership and causing the anti
war movement to gain momentum. This is an example of the negative portrayal which was largely
responsible for stopping support for an expansion of the war and destroying the myth of the
superiority of the political system and US Army, vastly influencing American opinion and leading to
outrage, massive demonstrations and low morale. The scope of the offensive stunned the White
House, the media, and the American people. The Tet Offensive influenced Johnson s decisions to not
seek or accept re election as president stating in his speech that he was frustrated with his inability to

The Hunger Games The Capitol
In The Hunger Games the Capitol is a place of vast wealth while the districts especially the districts of
eleven and twelve are living in poverty. This wealth that the Capitol has it a type of social control
because it keeps the districts from being able to gain the ability to fight back against the Capitol due to
their poverty status. The poverty in the districts is so bad that Katniss Everdeen from District Twelve
requires that she break a law of the Capitol s, which is not leaving the fenced area. She does this in
order to keep her and her family from starving to death. Katniss states, Technically, Gale and I could
be whipped on a daily basis for poaching in the woods (Collins 202 203). This poverty is also seen in
District Eleven when Rue says, I ve never had a whole leg to myself before (202). Rue also talks about
how they grow food but they are not allowed to eat it. (202) The Capitol makes it illegal to go outside
the Districts because it could lead to the Districts to banding together and creating another rebellion
and it is a means for Katniss to keep herself fed without relying on the Capitol to survive from
starving to death. This is an issue of social control the Capitol is deliberately keeping the Districts
hunger to have ultimate power over them. They also have a system called a tesserae which allows the
children who are eligible for the reaping to get a year s supply of grain and oil for one person (13).

Analysis Of Nietzsche s On Truth And Lies In A Nonmoral Sense
In On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense , Nietzsche seeks to explain why and how humankind has
developed our own senses of truth and in the same vein, lies. He says that the process involves taking
a stimuli and creating an image metaphor for it, and then a sound metaphor to it, which results in the
creation of language. Then, the human brain categorizes the stimuli into certain categories and into
different concepts that represent the total of unequal individualized objects and then rejects everything
that the category is not as a lie. Nietzsche argues that the processes aforementioned are impervious by
nature and completely illogical. The result is that we have created our own ideas that we call truth and
we shun the lies despite the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nietzsche calls the human race artistically creating subjects because we are able to take a stimulus
whether it be an image, smell, or sound and make a metaphorical image in our minds of what the
object is by assigning characteristics to it. Then, humans assign a metaphorical sound to represent the
stimulus, which eventually becomes the basis of language. Therefore, we have created this metaphor
to the perception of a stimulus that could change from person to person; it is completely subjective.
No child is born with this knowledge of their environment, but taught by parents or guardians. For
example, color is very subjective because if a child is raised to think that the color red is actually
called blue , he would only know it as blue. This metaphorical process, along with the need to be
social, eventually produced languages between humans and gave us a sense of truthfulness and lies,
which only entails that fact that humans are purposely using the definition of something the wrong
way in order to harm. In addition, Nietzsche also points out the cases of differing foreign languages
because nothing corresponds directly to the actual nature of a stimulus. Nietzsche argues that it is
illogical because humans made the idea of language, truth, and lie and therefore, it doesn t exist in
nature. The fact that we accept anyone that accurately describes something and shun someone that
tells a lie is completely subjective and frankly wrong, according to

There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray Bradbury
The story There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury is a story about a post apocalyptic time in the
year 2026 when all humans have perished. The question at hand is why is the house the main character
of the story, and that is the question we aim to answer. With a lack of human, animate characters Ray
Bradbury aims to personify objects and being of the house. The house is automated and functions
seamlessly without human aid despite being created by human inventors and builders. The inanimate
objects and characters of the house are characterized as one and are personified as to be the main
character of Ray Bradbury s short story. The house greats the morning by making breakfast and
turning on the sprinklers the wall where the sprinkler is nearby revealed the silhouette of a family
burnt into it, the only remnants of human life in the area. The author tells us that it is the last house
standing. The first evidence of the house being personified is when the dog enters and dies. The
robotic mice enter from the wall and clean up the remnants. The house functions effortlessly without
the necessity of human beings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theories Of Defending The Knowledge Argument

Defending the Knowledge Argument There are two main theories that make up the knowledge
argument. The first is Physicalism, (or better known as materialism) which is the thesis that All facts
are dependent upon physical processes. (Smart) The other main stance taken is property dualism. The
thesis of property dualism states that there are Non physical properties of physical substances (Calef)
or that there are physical and mental properties. In this article, I will defend the stance of property
dualism by acknowledging objections and replying to these objections to show why the argument for
property dualism works. The knowledge argument revolves around the scenario of Mary. Mary is very
wise and she knows everything there is to know about neurophysiology which has to do with vision
and understanding everything physical when people see things. She has been enclosed in a purely
black and white room her whole life and the main questions are: What will happen to Mary...[when
she sees color] and Will she learn anything or not? (Nida Rümelin) When Mary first sees a red rose for
example, she learns something new because she has a new experience for the first time. She has a new
feeling and has acquired a new knowledge. This sets up the following for the stance on substance
dualism (Gulick 369):
1. Mary before her release knows everything physical there is to know about seeing red.

with the initial one, when conche was the bottleneck with 94,08 bags, we can notice that we achieved

that the revenues created by the increasing on weekly capacity is the value of one conche multiplied
by 5*, which gives 30.000 x 5 = 150.000, we know that in case of buying the ball mill, we ll just need

The article begins by examining the notion of paradigms and worldviews as
currently used in the nursing literature and suggests that the concept of a single paradigm supports a
philosophy inconsistent with nursing s goal of building knowledge on the nature of the human
response. Next, the strength of plurality in nursing knowledge development, its warrantable evidence,
and the concept of a unity of knowledge to support knowledge development and practice is
articulated. Finally, the nursing practice implications of this perspective are discussed. Worldviews
and Paradigms Worldviews and paradigms have been accepted in nursing as essential to researchers
theoretical perspectives, delineation of research questions, and ultimately to the selection of research
methods. The search for a nursing paradigm as a means of knowledge development has been
extensively reviewed in the nursing literature (Fawcett, 1995; Keywords: knowledge development,

The Duel Essay
In reviewing John Lukacs, The Duel, I noticed that the author has other intentions in mind besides the
facts. Lukacs gives a very precise account of the actualy events during those eighty days but in my
opinion he wants the reader to grab the bigger concepts. One of these concepts is that Lukacs wants
the reader to honestly consider just how close the Allies came to losing the war. Another of these
notions is the idea that the main difference between Churchill and Hitler concerned nationalism versus
patriotism and a third idea is just how greatly history can be effected by the courageous decisions of a
few people.Lukacs makes strong mention of how close Hitler came to victory.
Hitler got everything he wanted for so long, without even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can all understand this, especially when looking back at the horror of WWII. Hitler abused the
idea of nationalism and thet is why the author made sure not to leave this footnote out of his book.
Hitler got the german people to follow him under this demented idea that Germany should be
considered better than everybody else, and yet it is astonishing that nobody seemed to noticed that
Hitler was not even a German. Lukacs wants the reader to raise these questions to themselves so they
can see how unique this entire situation was.
The idea that the entire course of history is changed by the decisions of a few people is a very
important notion in the book. The hesitance of Hitler in early July is especially important and vital to
the outcome of the war. Lukacs depicts the two men differently then one would expect. In this
evaluation, Hitler does not want to attack Britain. He wants them to simply make peace, of course on
his terms.
He was not sure if England would go for this, and if they did not, he knew that the time had come to
force them to do so. He could not shake Churchill, no matter how many other leaders crumbled. Hitler
s generals wanted to use force, but Hitler remained reluctant. The author effectively exhibits Hitler s
hesitance. He makes the evil man seem human saying that Hitler wanted to make a peace proposal on
a great and generous scale. (159). However, it

Ventricular Serptal Syndrome
A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a defect due to an abnormal connection between the lower
chambers of the heart. A heart has four chambers. There are left and right upper chambers, which are
called an atrium, and left and right lower chambers, called a ventricle. The ventricular septal defect is
a hole that occurs between the left and right pumping chambers of the heart.
This ventricular defect occurs because of problems in the early development of the heart. There is no
clear cause of a ventricular septal defect but most doctors think that genetics play a role. It s a very

Media Portrayal Of Beauty
Some people occasionally feel that their own appearance is unacceptable to society because of what
others are expecting based on published media. Those include, social media, published articles, and
even movies and TV shows. The media s portrayal of beauty has had a generational effect on
American society with young people falling victim to unrealistic standards. Failing to participate in
these ideals can lead to non acceptance, ostracization, and even bullying due to the unfounded
judgements of those who do participate in the beauty standards perpetuated by the media. As a matter
of fact, research on the impact of those ideals have been done. Many of the studies have been made
based on the outlook of people who would most likely be affected by the media, and their arguments
refute the idea that the media doesn t impact people. The concept of having or being pressured into
aiming for unrealistic visions based on what society deems acceptable is absurd and should be
addressed. Although in the past decades, women have been the center of beauty, during the present
time, the portrayal of beauty is no longer limited to females only. The vision of beauty applies to both
male and female teenagers, young adults and adults. Based on what you own, dress like, and even the
way you act determines if you are considered beautiful by the media. The ultimate goal of this paper is
to explore the reasons on why media affect people, how some feel pressured into changing just for the

Star Formation
There are many anomalies, events, planets, and stars, and many more parts of our universe. Three
anomalies, events, and astronomical objects are black holes, supernovas, and stars. Random fact, these
three are either stars or are the event caused by a star.
Stars have the ability to cause multiple events. The stars are the fundamental building blocks of our
universe, and responsible for many things. The formation of a star begins within clouds of dust.
Turbulence deep within the clouds gives a rise in speed with enough mass that the cloud can collapse
under its own gravitational pull. As the cloud collapses the core begins to heat up. This is called a
protostar, and what will one day become a star. The end of a star occurs when a star has fused all of its

The supernova is the explosion of a star and is one of the largest explosions in the universe. A
supernova can outshine an entire galaxy for days or even months depending on the size. A supernova
is formed when there is a change in the core of the star. This can occur in two ways. The first way
happens when two stars orbit the same point and steal mass from each other and the star eventually
becomes large enough that it will explode causing a supernova. The second way occurs when a star
reaches the end of its lifetime and runs out of fuel, some of its mass will flow to the center of the star
making heavier and eventually becoming so heavy it collapses in on itself and causes a supernova.
Supernovas are very helpful in telling scientists about our universe. One way is that one supernova has
shown that our universe is expanding at an increasing rate. Supernovas are also responsible for
distributing many elements. Most of the atoms in our universe are actually manufactured inside a star.
Stars have the ability to distribute elements up to iron, but to get heavier elements such as mercury,
there would have to be a

Essay about Campaign Finance Reform
Campaign finance reform has a broad history in America. In particular, campaign finance has
developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal elections
that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme Court decision
concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially
decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal
elections through unlimited independent expenditures. In order to understand how the Supreme Court
justified this decision, however, the history of campaign finance in regards to individuals must be
examined. At the crux of these campaign finance laws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, these laws are particularly important because they deal with discussion of public issues
and debate on the qualifications of candidates. This sort of speech allows citizens to make an informed
decision about which candidate they will elect. This is crucial to the operation of the government, for
those who are elected will shape the nation in a profound way. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn
argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist
insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the
general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to
spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of
ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right,
however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election
Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly
dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. Money in the form of a contribution
can easily be seen as a bribe, or an attempt to influence a candidate in the contributor s favor. FECA

The Decomposition Of Organic Matter By Utilizing Heat Essay
Pyrolysis is the decomposition of organic matter by utilizing heat. Pyrolysis is a chemical test,
meaning particles go through a process of being dried by increasing heat to extremely high
temperatures which finalize the result for identification or specific findings. Pyrolysis aids in
analyzing paint, but other components can be determined through this process. Ultimately, the concept
of pyrolysis is that it can be broken down into multiple chemical properties, which also means that the
advantage of using this process is versatility. However, sometimes the particles can be too broad or
complex for the machine to comprehend. This unique action helps to simplify the complicated matter
so that scientists can receive an accurate reading of a material to solve a case. Pyrolysis has been in
existing for many years, but people tend to confuse this process with oxidation or combustion.
Specifically, in Criminalistics, the primary unit that handles pyrolysis is the Trace Evidence Unit, this
unit uses pyrolysis in several different cases such as; accident investigations, evidence collections, hit
and run cases, shoe print and tire tracks, traffic accidents, comparative analysis, forensic paint
analyses and vehicle identifications (Remy. J). Furthermore, although it has not been presented often,
the process of pyrolysis is not new or current. The principals were primarily discovered in 1958 at
Bell Laboratories in the United States (Corp. B). The appropriate term for Pyrolysis

a need for this because of the ever increasing complexity of systems as they grow. John saw that there
was a need for better management of these ever increasingly complex systems. It is increasingly said

Texting And Driving Is Wrong
Texting and driving is something that causes many accidents on the roads. Everyone knows that
texting and driving is wrong and could cause an accident. Since that texting and driving is a
potentially dangerous behavior, that every single driver behind the wheel knows, but does I anyways
because of the deviant behavior and mindset towards texting and driving. When you text and drive
you are knowingly taking a risk of an accident because of how texting distracts a person from driving
properly. Texting and driving is when you use your phone while operating a motor vehicle. When
making this choice to do this, drivers often: drift off to the sides of roads, run stop signals, run into
another car, etc. Using your phone any kind of way is distracting because you are taking your eyes off
the road, and into a screen. Even though the time it takes to text is really small, that s all it takes to
causing a car accident. These behaviors are starting to get embedded in our social norms
(Seiler).Texting and driving is growing more common because of the popularity of the use a cell
phone and texting. A reason why texting and driving is growing more popular is because of the risk of
getting caught texting and driving. A lot people never get caught by the police texting and driving
because of how easy and quick it is to do and stop doing. Since it is so easy to do and lack of getting
caught without consequences makes you more likely to keep doing it (Seiler). Another reason why

Politics Is The Practice And Theory Of Power And Resources...
Politics (from Greek: πολιτικός politikos, definition of, for, or relating to citizens ) is the practice and
theory of influencing other people. Politics involves the making of a common decision for a group of
people, that is, a uniform decision applying in the same way to all members of the group. It also
involves the use of power by one person to affect the behavior of another person. More narrowly, it
refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance organized control over a human
community, particularly a state. Furthermore, politics is the study or practice of the distribution of
power and resources within a given community (a usually hierarchically organized population) as well
as the interrelationship(s) between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Formal Politics refers to the operation of a constitutional system of government and publicly defined
institutions and procedures.[1] Political parties, public policy or discussions about war and foreign
affairs would fall under the category of Formal Politics.[1] Many people view formal politics as
something outside of themselves, but that can still affect their daily lives.[1]
Informal Politics is understood as forming alliances, exercising power and protecting and advancing
particular ideas or goals. Generally, this includes anything affecting one s daily life, such as the way
an office or household is managed, or how one person or group exercises influence over another.[1]
Informal Politics is typically understood as everyday politics, hence the idea that politics is
everywhere .[1]

Higher education is the crucial base for all the people who desire to further their education. An ideal
higher education should be able to open one s horizon as well as secure their hopes and dreams for the

Example Of Masculinity In Beowulf
Beowulf is an Old English poem written somewhere between the eighth century and the tenth century;
the culture of Germanic times is depicted through varying concepts of masculinity that not only
describes their capability as a warrior, but also their aptitude as a leader. Beowulf shows of a demon
named Grendel attacking Heorot, and the king, Hrothgar, calls Beowulf, a warrior, for help with the
slaying of Grendel. Characteristics and qualities of leadership are directly linked to the masculinity of
the characters within Beowulf. The leaders in the prologue are demonstrated with the aspects of
masculinity through their strength and brutality. In Beowulf, a man demonstrates his essential worth
through evidence of masculinity as seen in Unferth s cowardice, Beowulf s heroism, and Wiglaf s
bravery. Unferth is considered less of a man because he is more intelligent than masculine. He may be
intelligent, but he is neither a strong warrior nor a brave one. Beowulf recalls that fact that Unferth has
been a warrior for Hrothgar the entire time that Grendel has been attacking, and he has done nothing
towards defeating the monster. Beowulf states, Now I cannot recall / any fight you entered, Unferth, /
that bears comparison. (lines 582 84) Unferth may have been an intelligent man, but his lack of a high
degree of masculinity causes his worth to be lower than that of Beowulf or any other brave warrior.
Unferth s inability to kill Grendel causes Hrothgar and the other warriors

Victorian Weddings Essay examples
Victorian Weddings
Like every aspect in Victorian society, great expectations were placed upon weddings. In fact, during
this time frame, several guidebooks for weddings were referred to, one of these books was Our
Deportment: On the Manners and Conduct and Dress of the Most Refined Society by John H. Young.
Many traditions regarding weddings first took place during the Victorian Age and are still followed
today.
The Bride
The Victorian bride was expected to follow many guidelines concerning her wedding. The bride
would have been responsible for sending invitations to the wedding, which would have been engraved

The Bridegroom and Groomsmen
The groom and ushers would wear full morning dress for the wedding. This included dark blue or
black frock coats or cut aways, and light colored neckties and trousers. The bridegroom, however,
would wear white gloves, while the ushers would wear gloves of a delicate color. According to Young,
the bridegroom would give his groomsmen a scarf pin of some quaint device, or some other slight
memento of the day, as a slight acknowledgement of their services.
The Bridesmaids
Young states that only relatives the most intimate friends of the bride and bridegroom were to be
bridesmaids. Dresses for the bridesmaids were pretty, as well as practical, since they were designed to
be suitable for wear after the wedding. In addition, the colors of the dresses were to be in direct
contrast to the bride s dress (Hoppe). Young states that the dresses were not to be given unless their
circumstances [were] such as to make it necessary. Yet, the bride would give each bridesmaid a small
article of jewelry, more as a memento of the occasion than [its] own intrinsic worth.

The Double Self Portrait By Frida Kahlo
On first impression, The Two Fridas(1939) by Frida Kahlo, is an image that appears grim and sad,
with a gloomy atmosphere, set by the background, and a gruesome imagery seen through the open,
bloody hearts. The double self portrait is an oil and canvas image of a European and Mexican Frida.
The European Frida s dress is covered in blood from a cut heart vein, and both the women s hearts are
exposed, with European Frida s appearing broken. The two figures are sat in the foreground of the
image, with a woven bench beneath them and a stormy, grey sky as the background. The image doesn

There is a repetition of shape throughout the white lace located on the European Frida s dress, and
more natural flower shaped images repeated along the hem of her dress. The cloud shaped objects in

There is a strong contrast in colour between the two Frida s. The one on the right has bright colours
blue and yellow, complimentary colours, adorning her traditional clothing, where else the European
Frida appears dressed in a more monochromatic outfit with sprinkles of contrasting colour, through
the red of her blood and other earth tones of the flowers. Her representation of colours used, have a

Hog slaughter and the slaughter of all livestock has been a controversial topic over the last few years.
With many organizations out there against animal agriculture such as the Humane Society of the

Integrity and Success
What is the line between cheating and just helping out? Is there a hierarchy of honesty which places
people into categories based on the extent of their cheating? Whether or not there are different levels
of dishonesty, people often sacrifice their integrity in order to succeed. However, is this always the
best method of getting ahead in life? While it may be easier to excel in the professional world by
cheating, Tom Hanks, Simon Cowell, and Malala Yousafzai have proven that success can come from
being honest, and that one does not have to sacrifice his integrity to achieve.
Actors and celebrities may enjoy the spotlight constantly surrounding them, but their massive fame

Touching humans the most is the acceptance of unstoppable death. We all know that death will be our

Into That Good Night, written by Dylan Thomas, emphasizes raging against death towards his dying
father as he repeats this exhortation in the last line in every stanza. Imagery, sound, metrics, and tone,

Thomas provokes these men into wanting more time and desiring the courage to fight back against the
Grim Reaper. The wise men and the wild men, regardless of character, deserves the opportunity to live
into old age and accomplish what they set out to do. And the wise men, who regret the fact that they
didn t do the good deeds they were set out to do, and realizing that it was too late for them to do it.
Thomas realizes it is human nature to take life for granted; until death approaches. Thomas wrote this
poem for his father, to tell him that there is so much more for him here, living, to do. The only way to
deter death is through fury and frenzy. Death comes too quickly for most people and only with rage
can death be defied. Here is a discussion of how the sound and metrics of the poem help convey that
meaning. In the face of strong emotion, the poet sets himself the task of mastering it in difficult form
of villanelle. Five tercets are followed by a quatrain, with the first and last line of stanza repeated
alternately as the last line of the subsequent stanzas and gathered into a couplet at the end of the
quatrain. And all this on only two rhymes. His villanelle repeates the theme of living and fury through
the most forceful two lines, do not go gentle into that good night, and rage, rage against the dying of
the light. Thomas further compounds his difficulty by having each line

Exercise And Behavior Adoption For Many Reasons
This course has provided a new perspective on exercise and behavior adoption for many reasons. The
first and prominent realization I had was during the behavior change project. This assignment allowed
me to take a step back, and assess where I stand physically and mentally. I noticed that I lacked
discipline in my diet and exercise routines. That being said, I did exercise periodically prior to this
moment, but I knew that I was capable of accomplishing more and using my time more wisely. The
fact that this assignment allowed me to directly apply what we learned in class in my life is appealing
to me. There have been many theories and terms that we have covered, but items such as the self
determination theory, social support, and the stimulus response theory stood out, probably due to
incorporating them in my behavior change.
The self determination theory has been made prevalent in my life as I have seen it hold true in my
personal goals, and I have used it to help motivate others to accomplish plans of interest. It is hard for
me to have a great influence on my family, due to being six hours away for college, but recently my
mother and I have been discussing exercise possibilities over the phone. She knows that she should
exercise, but has found it difficult to begin the change from being sedentary to physically active. The
self determination theory has three main components; autonomy, competence, and relatedness (Lox,

HIDS are also somewhat cost effective in comparison to other IDS types since they are most
commonly software based on not a hardware appliance. Unfortunately, there are a number of
disadvantages to HIDS, as well. The most significant problem with HIDS is that the majority are
software based and operate on the system itself. What this can lead to is controlling the HIDS if the
system becomes entirely compromised. HIDS can also be difficult to manage if spread across many
systems without an efficient administration plan in place. Finally, HIDS use the same resources the
server it resides on uses. Depending on the activity of the server, a HIDS can be quite a burden to an
already busy system. This can lead to bottlenecks, costly hardware upgrades, and other technical
issues (Shimonski, 2004, para. 6). Network based IDS Network based IDS, or NIDS, are normally
hardware based devices (or dedicated systems) that reside at critical points of the network capturing
all incoming (and sometime outgoing and localized) packet traffic and analyzing it for suspicious
patterns in accordance with the signature or rule database. Specifically, NIDS capture IP

Costs and Requirements of Caring for Bearded Dragons Essay
Bearded Dragons are becoming quite a common pet! Bearded Dragons can come in many different
morphs or colors. Bearded Dragons are a very docile reptile. In addition, it is very easy to take care of
in comparison with other reptiles. There several things a person would need to start a breeding pair of
Bearded Dragons. Such as, two Bearded Dragons, a food source, a habitat, lighting, and incubation
area. In addition, breeding requires other special aspects like making sure that there is one female and
one male. Another obstacle is getting the pair to mate. Not every two lizards someone puts together
just start mating; the lizards have to like each other. What do you need to care for and breed Bearded
Dragons? How much would it cost to start ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of decorations would be a vine, logs, foliage, a background, or even a statue. For tank
lighting, you will need a UVB light and a heat light. The lighting will cost anywhere from sixty to a
hundred dollars. If you plan on breeding expensive morphs of Bearded Dragons then they will cost
around $150 dollars each. If you just plan to breed common Bearded Dragons, you could probably
pick up a pair for seventy dollars. In addition, you will need a form of water mister. An example of a
mister would be a spray bottle. That can run anywhere around three dollars at a pet store. The food
source is very important, and food can be expensive. Bearded dragons are omnivorous [meaning they
will eat both insects and vegetables] (Bearded Dragon Guide). Blaptica Dubia roaches are the food
source I am incorporating in this estimate. Dubia Roaches are one of the few insects which actually
bear live young and so there are no messy eggs dotting your substrate or egg crates ( Blaptica Dubia
Roaches ). Dubia Roaches are easier to maintain and reproduce faster and more than crickets and
super worms. For the breeding habitat and the large breeding pack of Dubia roaches, it cost around
$300 dollars. I would choose to have a colony of my Bearded Dragons food source so I would save
money in the end. In addition to the roaches, you will need reptile vitamins to dust the roaches. The
vitamin powered cost roughly twenty dollars. The incubator for the eggs will cost around seventy to a

Taming of the Samurai, Michael Mann describes absolutism as a monarch as a human source of law
and a monarch that governs aid of a bureaucracy and an army. Michael Mann describes the monarch
of absolutism as being permanent, dependent, and highly professional. As for the religious power of
Tokugawa Japan, Buddhism is considered the dominant religion of Japan. Eiko Ikegami discusses that

Gothic Elements In Gothic Literature
Gothic literature can be defined as writing that employs dark and picturesque scenery, startling and
melodramatic narrative devices, and an overall atmosphere of exoticism, mystery, and dread.
The gothic world is dark and can contain evil, dark and mysteries. The short stories A Rose for Emily
written by William Faulkner, The Black Cat written by Edgar Allen Poe, Prey written by Richard
Matheson, The Feather Pillow , written by Horacio Quiroga and the novel The Night Circus written by
Erin Morgenstern all represent several gothic elements. Isolation or entrapment is a gothic element
that is found in The Night Circus , A Rose for Emily and The Feather Pillow . Violence or revenge is a
gothic element that is well represented by the short stories The Black Cat , Prey and the novel The
Night Circus . The narrators use these types of gothic elements to prove that if you stay away from
people around you or force others to isolate themselves from the world and act evil towards others, it
will lead to your own catastrophe.
In the short story A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, Miss Emily stays locked in her house
guarding a morbid secret. That happened after her dad dies and her boyfriend skips town. One
example of isolation foreshadowing Emily s own desolation. The narrator expresses her loneliness as

Body Image In The Fashion Industry
The fashion industry
Under society s norms for decades, young women have been put under the pressure and anticipation to
have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of the makeup to their
face but not appear ridiculously overdone. Who s responsible for these standards imposed on young
women? When a young girl picks up the model along the cover of Vogue being called flawless, it s
easy for her to then aspire to be a real life imitation of the photocopy. These companies produce
magazine covers shown with girls images daily. As if keeping the perfect body wasn t hard enough our
culture also forces girls into the forever expanding world of composition, however, body image is a
pressing issue for young women. Advertisements and posters of skinny female models are all over.
Young girls not only could be better but need to be more upright and feel driven to throw the perfect
figure. Moreover, girls are evaluated and oppressed by their physical appearances. With supplements
and apparel designed to enhance a facial expression; social media, magazines, and marketing
campaigns and advertisements add to the burden of perfection. The fashion industry is a prime object
of body image issues, as they believe clothes look better on tall and svelte women. Established on a
survey participated by 13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90% felt pressured by fashion and media
industries to be skinny , with more than 60% routinely compares themselves to models, while 46%

the coming of Messiah. Mark, is the earliest and shortest story of Jesus life, as it was written about 70

Greeks to show Jesus as a universal saviour. John, written between 90 and 100 A.D. and is written for
instruction of the early Christian Church, as it presents Jesus as the eternal Word of God who
descended from heaven and became a man.. Then next follows The acts of the Apostles Peter and Paul

Examples Of Reader Response Theory
Reader Response Theory Reader response theory identifies the reader as an affective agent who
imparts real exist ence and life to the work, completing its meaning through interpretation. Reader
response criti cism argues that literature should be viewed as art in which each reader creates his or
her own most likely unique, text related performance. I am using Wolfgang Iser and Stanley Fish s
takes on Reader Response for my study. Iser s Theory of Reception and Transactional Reader
Response Theory According to Iser, any literary text which is a product of the Writer s intentional acts
part ly controls the response of a reader; however, this includes an abundance of gaps. In order to
comprehend more clearly, the reader must take action in active participation in attempting to cre
atively fill these gaps with the given information of the test put before him; Thereby allowing the
Reader and the text to undergo a transactional process. Iser speaks of the Actual reader in distinction
to the Implied reader who is formed within a text and expected to react and respond in specific ways
to the response inducing structure of the text. The actual reader, however, is an individual with its own
personal experiences accumu lated as baggage wherein responses actually are continuously and
inevitably changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What lies behind Fish s thinking is a strong view of the social construction of reality; as he firmly
believes that knowledge is not objective but always socially conditioned. All that one thinks and
knows is an interpretation that is only made possible by the social context in which one lives. For Fish
the very thought one thinks are made possible by presuppositions of the community in which one lives
and furthermore the socially conditioned individual, which all individuals are, cannot think beyond the
limits made possible by the culture. This culture is referred to by Fish as an interpre tive

Selective Oxidation Of 2 Naphthol Selective oxidation of 2 naphthol to 2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone with hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by 5,10,15, 20 tetrakis(p sulfonato phenyl)porphinatomanganese(III) chloride in aqueous solution. M. Hassanein*, S. El Khalafy , S. Shendy Tanta University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry, Tanta 31527, Egypt. Abstract 2 Naphthol has been selectively oxidized to 2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone (HNQ, Lawsone) with hydrogen peroxide in presence of 5, 10, 15, 20 tetrakis (p sulfonatophenyl)porphinatomanganese (III) chloride as catalyst in alkaline aqueous solution. The catalytic oxidation afforded 2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone in high yield (95 %). The effect of reaction parameters on the catalytic activity and the yield of HNQ have been investigated. UV vis spectral analysis during oxidation reaction indicated that oxomanganese intermediate O=Mn(IV)TPPSCl was the active species in the oxidation reaction. Censorship and indoctrination are two on of the many ways media can shape history. Firstly, the influence media has on amount of censorship, shapes history as it occurs, affecting what information the enemies have access to and public understanding and opinion. Secondly inaccurate and biased information presented by the media, can cause the indoctrination of the audience, as well as making it harder for future historians to find accurate sources of the truth. The effect of censorship is reflected in the Tet Offensive, where the uncensored pictures and videos showed the brutality of the war in Vietnam. Previous to the Tet Offensive, the media had presented the war going positively, which was backed by repeated reassurances from both the military and the Johnson administration that the end was in sight. The Tet Offensive contradicted this, exposing the credibility gap between what Americans were being told about the war and the reality of the conflict, undermining the credibility of the American and political and military leadership and causing the anti war movement to gain momentum. This is an example of the negative portrayal which was largely responsible for stopping support for an expansion of the war and destroying the myth of the superiority of the political system and US Army, vastly influencing American opinion and leading to outrage, massive demonstrations and low morale. The scope of the offensive stunned the White House, the media, and the American people. This wealth that the Capitol has it a type of social control because it keeps the districts from being able to gain the ability to fight back against the Capitol due to their poverty status. The poverty in the districts is so bad that Katniss Everdeen from District Twelve requires that she break a law of the Capitol s, which is not leaving the fenced area. She does this in order to keep her and her family from starving to death. Katniss states, Technically, Gale and I could be whipped on a daily basis for poaching in the woods (Collins 202 203). This poverty is also seen in District Eleven when Rue says, I ve never had a whole leg to myself before (202). Rue also talks about how they grow food but they are not allowed to eat it. (202) The Capitol makes it illegal to go outside the Districts because it could lead to the Districts to banding together and creating another rebellion and it is a means for Katniss to keep herself fed without relying on the Capitol to survive from starving to death. This is an issue of social control the Capitol is deliberately keeping the Districts hunger to have ultimate power over them. • 5. Analysis Of Nietzsche s On Truth And Lies In A Nonmoral Sense In On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense , Nietzsche seeks to explain why and how humankind has developed our own senses of truth and in the same vein, lies. He says that the process involves taking a stimuli and creating an image metaphor for it, and then a sound metaphor to it, which results in the creation of language. Then, the human brain categorizes the stimuli into certain categories and into different concepts that represent the total of unequal individualized objects and then rejects everything that the category is not as a lie. Nietzsche argues that the processes aforementioned are impervious by nature and completely illogical. The result is that we have created our own ideas that we call truth and we shun the lies despite the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nietzsche calls the human race artistically creating subjects because we are able to take a stimulus whether it be an image, smell, or sound and make a metaphorical image in our minds of what the object is by assigning characteristics to it. Then, humans assign a metaphorical sound to represent the stimulus, which eventually becomes the basis of language. Therefore, we have created this metaphor to the perception of a stimulus that could change from person to person; it is completely subjective. No child is born with this knowledge of their environment, but taught by parents or guardians. For example, color is very subjective because if a child is raised to think that the color red is actually called blue , he would only know it as blue. This metaphorical process, along with the need to be social, eventually produced languages between humans and gave us a sense of truthfulness and lies, which only entails that fact that humans are purposely using the definition of something the wrong way in order to harm. In addition, Nietzsche also points out the cases of differing foreign languages because nothing corresponds directly to the actual nature of a stimulus. • 6. There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray Bradbury The story There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury is a story about a post apocalyptic time in the year 2026 when all humans have perished. The question at hand is why is the house the main character of the story, and that is the question we aim to answer. With a lack of human, animate characters Ray Bradbury aims to personify objects and being of the house. The house is automated and functions seamlessly without human aid despite being created by human inventors and builders. The inanimate objects and characters of the house are characterized as one and are personified as to be the main character of Ray Bradbury s short story. The house greats the morning by making breakfast and turning on the sprinklers the wall where the sprinkler is nearby revealed the silhouette of a family burnt into it, the only remnants of human life in the area. The author tells us that it is the last house standing. The first evidence of the house being personified is when the dog enters and dies. The robotic mice enter from the wall and clean up the remnants. The house functions effortlessly without the necessity of human beings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Theories Of Defending The Knowledge Argument Robert David Boone Jr. Professor Tyron Goldschmidt Philosophy 111 23 September 2014 Defending the Knowledge Argument There are two main theories that make up the knowledge argument. The first is Physicalism, (or better known as materialism) which is the thesis that All facts are dependent upon physical processes. (Smart) The other main stance taken is property dualism. The thesis of property dualism states that there are Non physical properties of physical substances (Calef) or that there are physical and mental properties. In this article, I will defend the stance of property dualism by acknowledging objections and replying to these objections to show why the argument for property dualism works. The knowledge argument revolves around the scenario of Mary. Mary is very wise and she knows everything there is to know about neurophysiology which has to do with vision and understanding everything physical when people see things. She has been enclosed in a purely black and white room her whole life and the main questions are: What will happen to Mary...[when she sees color] and Will she learn anything or not? (Nida Rümelin) When Mary first sees a red rose for example, she learns something new because she has a new experience for the first time. She has a new feeling and has acquired a new knowledge. This sets up the following for the stance on substance dualism (Gulick 369): 1. Mary before her release knows everything physical there is to know about seeing red. 2. ... • 12. The Duel Essay In reviewing John Lukacs, The Duel, I noticed that the author has other intentions in mind besides the facts. Lukacs gives a very precise account of the actualy events during those eighty days but in my opinion he wants the reader to grab the bigger concepts. One of these concepts is that Lukacs wants the reader to honestly consider just how close the Allies came to losing the war. Another of these notions is the idea that the main difference between Churchill and Hitler concerned nationalism versus patriotism and a third idea is just how greatly history can be effected by the courageous decisions of a few people.Lukacs makes strong mention of how close Hitler came to victory. Hitler abused the idea of nationalism and thet is why the author made sure not to leave this footnote out of his book. Hitler got the german people to follow him under this demented idea that Germany should be considered better than everybody else, and yet it is astonishing that nobody seemed to noticed that Hitler was not even a German. Lukacs wants the reader to raise these questions to themselves so they can see how unique this entire situation was. The idea that the entire course of history is changed by the decisions of a few people is a very important notion in the book. The hesitance of Hitler in early July is especially important and vital to the outcome of the war. Lukacs depicts the two men differently then one would expect. In this evaluation, Hitler does not want to attack Britain. He wants them to simply make peace, of course on his terms. He was not sure if England would go for this, and if they did not, he knew that the time had come to force them to do so. He could not shake Churchill, no matter how many other leaders crumbled. Hitler s generals wanted to use force, but Hitler remained reluctant. The author effectively exhibits Hitler s hesitance. He makes the evil man seem human saying that Hitler wanted to make a peace proposal on a great and generous scale. (159). However, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those include, social media, published articles, and even movies and TV shows. The media s portrayal of beauty has had a generational effect on American society with young people falling victim to unrealistic standards. Failing to participate in these ideals can lead to non acceptance, ostracization, and even bullying due to the unfounded judgements of those who do participate in the beauty standards perpetuated by the media. As a matter of fact, research on the impact of those ideals have been done. The second way occurs when a star reaches the end of its lifetime and runs out of fuel, some of its mass will flow to the center of the star making heavier and eventually becoming so heavy it collapses in on itself and causes a supernova. In particular, campaign finance has developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal elections that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme Court decision concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal elections through unlimited independent expenditures. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right, however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. Pyrolysis is a chemical test, meaning particles go through a process of being dried by increasing heat to extremely high temperatures which finalize the result for identification or specific findings. Pyrolysis aids in analyzing paint, but other components can be determined through this process. Ultimately, the concept of pyrolysis is that it can be broken down into multiple chemical properties, which also means that the advantage of using this process is versatility. However, sometimes the particles can be too broad or complex for the machine to comprehend. This unique action helps to simplify the complicated matter so that scientists can receive an accurate reading of a material to solve a case. Pyrolysis has been in existing for many years, but people tend to confuse this process with oxidation or combustion. Specifically, in Criminalistics, the primary unit that handles pyrolysis is the Trace Evidence Unit, this unit uses pyrolysis in several different cases such as; accident investigations, evidence collections, hit and run cases, shoe print and tire tracks, traffic accidents, comparative analysis, forensic paint analyses and vehicle identifications (Remy. • 30. Example Of Masculinity In Beowulf Beowulf is an Old English poem written somewhere between the eighth century and the tenth century; the culture of Germanic times is depicted through varying concepts of masculinity that not only describes their capability as a warrior, but also their aptitude as a leader. Beowulf shows of a demon named Grendel attacking Heorot, and the king, Hrothgar, calls Beowulf, a warrior, for help with the slaying of Grendel. Characteristics and qualities of leadership are directly linked to the masculinity of the characters within Beowulf. The leaders in the prologue are demonstrated with the aspects of masculinity through their strength and brutality. In Beowulf, a man demonstrates his essential worth through evidence of masculinity as seen in Unferth s cowardice, Beowulf s heroism, and Wiglaf s bravery. Unferth is considered less of a man because he is more intelligent than masculine. He may be intelligent, but he is neither a strong warrior nor a brave one. Beowulf recalls that fact that Unferth has been a warrior for Hrothgar the entire time that Grendel has been attacking, and he has done nothing towards defeating the monster. Beowulf states, Now I cannot recall / any fight you entered, Unferth, / that bears comparison. (lines 582 84) Unferth may have been an intelligent man, but his lack of a high degree of masculinity causes his worth to be lower than that of Beowulf or any other brave warrior.
