The Industrial Revolution Impact On Society
In order to grasp the impact that the Industrial Revolution had on society, it is important to understand
how drastically different people lived before this time. During the late 1700 s, manufacturing goods
were nothing new to Britain and the rest of Europe and the production of goods fell on the shoulders
of manual laborers and farmers. In order to survive, ordinary British families had to farm, breed
livestock, and make their own goods such as clothes and soap. Much of the work was done by hand or
using simple machines and the whole family was responsible for the farm and home; production was
limited to what could be produced on a spinning wheel or hand loom.
Preceding the Industrial Revolution, the Agricultural Revolution took place. During this time, food
production was at an all time high in Britain and the population flourished causing landowners to
begin pushing the common people off of the communal land in order to implement their new farming
techniques at a greater scale. Commoners would soon become Britain s workforce because the poor
farmers that could no longer farm land for themselves were forced to work under the landowners.
Thus, the wealth that Britain had obtained from the Atlantic slave trade and the growing population set
up the perfect climate for industrialization. Prior to industrializing, women and children working was
not abnormal since it had always taken the whole family to maintain the household. However, now
that mass amounts of people were

John Donne And Cecile Day Lewis
Since definition of love and its representation varies person to person and in the past it has already
been represented in various ways, which leads one to presume that language is insufficient to represent
love. However, it is evident that the language has proved to be sufficient enough to not only analyze,
dissect and explain the feelings of love from so many angles including biologically. Subversions of
conventions of love is not the matter of insufficiency of language but a matter of how a poet
experiences love or how a poet chooses to express those experiences.
It is mainly the poet s era and life experiences that dictate how he/she represents love. Thomas Wyatt,
John Donne and Cecile Day Lewis are good examples of how life experiences can determine the poets
divergence of traditional courtly and pastoral love. An abreast analysis of the above poets lives and
their works allow us to draw parallels between their life experiences and their subversions of
conventions of love.
Thomas Wyatt s subversion of courtly love was influenced by his intimate relation with the women.
Sir Thomas Wyatt, an English ambassador suffered from his wife s infidelity and his mistress s
marriage with his king and later her execution. Due to his position of being an ambassador of England
left him no choice but to represent love in courtly and patriarchal manner. Wyatt was deeply affected
by the infidelity of his first wife and the execution of his mistress at the hands of the monarch. For

Organizational Innovation From Different Leaderships style
Innovation is to create new ideas or add new information to original projects in order to improve the
function and services of an institution. Innovation also refers to remodeling a product, simplifying
processes and applying different strategies of management. Literally, innovation is the change that
leverages and functions better than before (Tien, Chao 2012). Innovation types are product or services,
production process, organizational, personnel, technical and management innovation. All type of
innovations includes technical innovation and management innovation Tien, Chao 2012). In this case,
organizational innovation from different leaderships style will be discussed.

Considerably compassion and system factors of a leadership style involve recognizing working values,
attitudes, dedication and organizational commitment. Accordingly, there are four dimensions of
leadership style; they are: high consideration and high system, this type of leader concerns about
achieving organizational goals and the subordinates needs. Positively this leadership style benefits
both the organization as well as employees. The leader has qualities that influence the organization
success. Secondly, low consideration and high system declares that leaders care about the achievement
of performance, but he/she does not consider the subordinates feelings; this leadership style is not
healthy for employees. A good leader has to be supportive, patience, flexible, empathic and so on.
Employees feelings influence their performance. Therefore, listening skills is an essential tool that a
leader has to use as needed it. Third, high consideration and low system refers to a leader s role and
employees participation in decision making. This is a great leadership style where a leader applies
his/her natural instincts by allowing employees to participate in decision making. As a result
employees feel that their work is worthy; thus, they get more engage on the job (Tien, Chao 2012).

Anorexia Nervosa Theory
patient with the food. Indeed, Karen Carpenter needs to change her way of thinking in order to treat
her disorder, and in order to do so, punishment need to be associated to losing weight and
reinforcement to gaining weight. Even if most anorexic patients deny their disorder, hospitalization is
always the best way to keep the person alive by imposing weight restoration (Davison et al., 2013).
Then, the cognitive behavioural therapy can come into play by reinforcing eating with a reward. For
instance, patients are totally isolated and the only moment they see their family or have access to any
divertissements is when they eat. In that case, divertissements positively reinforce gain weight. At a

According to Davison et al., (2013), disorders are the result of unconscious conflicts in the individual .
The psychoanalytic paradigm concentrates on childhood and defines what the individual has been
through during childhood is reflected in his/her adulthood. Davison et al., (2013) stated that anorexia
nervosa disorder usually starts to develop in adolescence due to past unstable relationships between
parents and the child. Indeed, being overprotective and overinvolved in the child s life by taking all
the decisions for him without giving him a voice, as it is seen in the case of Karen Carpenter, lead the
child to feel powerless, insecure, and have a low self esteem. A lack of control is felt by the child and
is then transformed into high self control later on. Approaching adolescence, the child becomes more
conscious about the society demands on appearance and as a result respect those requirements to be
accepted by transforming him/herself into a thinner silhouette. This self control over a strict diet
creates an identity to the individual. According to Mushatt (1983), problems in the family increase the
probability to develop an eating disorder as anorexia nervosa. The roles played by the parents of
Carpenter family were well defined: her mother has control over everything and her father was
following her mother s commands in order to satisfy her. Concerning Karen s father, his passive
behavior did not help to lower the anxiety level felt at home and to bring back stability within the
family. Indeed, being a perfectionist mother does not help the child to grow up normally. The fact that
Karen s mother was over controlling could also have participate in her development of the anorexia
Nervosa disorder. Karen was not taking her own decision which is defines as it as an infantilizing
decision making by Msuhatt (1983). As explained in her biography, Karen Carpenter did not even

Game Description Of Rainbow Brain
Rainbow Brain
Game Description
Rainbow Brain is a board game developed for children ages four and up that incorporates various
developmental processes to help children learn and master certain skills and concepts. It comes with a
colorful board, six game pieces, one die, a pencil and drawing pad, a one minute timer, and clay. The
timer, pencil, paper, and clay will be used for the creation part, which will be discussed more in detail.
We start by having the youngest player go first and then have each player take their turn, going around
clockwise. Each player takes turns rolling a die. The number the die lands on determines the amount
of spaces the player moves their game piece. Each space on the board is colored: red, orange, yellow,
green, blue, and purple. Whatever color the player lands on, he/she will pick up a card from its
corresponding deck. There are six decks of cards: three different concepts of development with two
different types of tasks for each concept. The tasks for the concept of number are in the red and orange
decks. The concept for categorical concept is used in tasks throughout the yellow and green decks.
The concept for drawing and symbolic representation are the blue and purple decks. Example cards
are provided at the end. Each player must complete the task written on the card, and if the task is not
completed or is incorrect, they will have to move back one space. Ideally, this game should last 30 45
minutes if everyone cooperates and plays well

Art And Its Effect On Society
There are about a million different colors in the world. There are light colors and dark colors and
colors in between. We can use colors to express ourselves and use them to express our moods. People
are famous because of art and people have been arrested for art too. People can dedicate art to other
people and people can draw themselves too. Million and millions of colors are in the world but only
few are known. More colors are discovered ever day by people who experiment with colors. Making
different shades of every color. For example, if you mix blue and yellow you get green. If you mix
different colors you will get new better colors. Colors are everywhere even if we don t want them to
be.
Colors have lots of meanings. We use many of the same colors but we mix them with other colors and
we get the different shades of these colors. For example, while red is the color most associated with
love, it also the color most frequently associated with hatred, anger, aggression, and war. People who
are angry are said to see red. Red is the color most commonly associated with passion and heat. Blue
is the color between violet and green on the optical spectrum of visible light. Human eyes perceive
blue when observing light with a wavelength between 450 and 495 nanometers, which is between 45
and 49.5 Angstroms. Green is the color between blue and yellow on the spectrum of visible light. It is
evoked by light with a predominant wavelength of roughly 495 570 nm. Pink is a pale Red

Research Paper On Emily Dickinson
The person I m reflecting on is Emily Dickinson, a famous poet from New England. Emily Dickinson
was born in 1830 in New England. Her natural first skills were cooking and sewing, but attended a
boarding school would change a lot. Emily was different from her family and had a different outlook
on life. Her love life was nothing, but shameful when guy after guy ended up cheating, leaving her, or
even dying. After that, Emily decided to stay inside her home for the rest of her life and not deal with
social life at all. She only communicated with flowers and poems she would often write to closest
friends and family. During her being at home, some of her poems were published by her closet friends
and family. One man was very impressed by her poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With Emily s ideas, she made over eight hundred carefully wrapped pieces of poetry which sat in her
room until her death when her sister published them to the public. When Emily got older she lost so
many loved ones (A close friend, a man she believed to have loved, her father and mother, her favorite
nephew, and her dog). With the terrible deaths happening around her impacting her life heavily. She
retreated further and further into her room not saying a word to anyone or even coming out. When her
father died she didn t even attend the funeral. She stayed in her room leaving the door slightly open.
Eventually her own health began to decline and the eloquent and mysterious poet knew her time was
up also. The last letter she ever wrote was to her cousins and said Little Cousins, Called Back. Emily .
On May 15, 1886, Emily Dickerson died at the age of fifty five. The attending physician stated that
her cause of death was Bright s disease, a kidney disease now called acute or chronic nephritis. After
Emily s death, Lavinia Dickinson published her remaining poems she wrote. In 1955, there was a
book that was published with the remaining poems that she wrote for the family and the

Analysis Of Passing By Nella Larsen
the novel Passing, Nella Larsen explores the consequences and disadvantages of two African
Americans living in a segregated society. The reconnection between Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry
illustrates two different paths in regards to how they portray themselves in their own community.
Larsen displays Clare Kendry as a light skinned women who tolerates her husband s racial comments
in order to live in a higher society. Clare s decision to secretly hide her racial background because of
the desire of wanting to be accepted by individuals of an upper social class greatly affects Irene. Clare
s determination of overcoming racial barriers by passing as a white individual is similar to the
Rhinelander/Jones case. In 1924 the son of the wealthiest families in New York married the daughter
of a taxicab driver. However, Leonard Rhinelander appealed to have is marriage annulled due to
believing his wife to be white when he married her (135). Rhinelander suspected Alice Jones was
hiding her racial background by passing as a white individual. As the trial progressed it was concluded
that that Rhinelander had an understanding of her racial background before marriage was an option
between the two. The Rhinelander/Jones case demonstrates how Clare Kendry decided to pass as a
white individual in order to obtain wealth and social status by marrying a white male. The three
criticism texts chosen demonstrates how racial passing between Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry
contributes to social status.
In Nella Larsen s Passing: A Problem of Interpretation, Claudia Tate argues that race is not the novels
foremost concern, but is merely a mechanism for setting the story in motion (344). Tate s decision to
focus on the psychological ambiguity (343) of the novel forbids her to elaborate on the relation
between race and social class. As a result, I disagree with certain statements from Tate s argument due
to the lack of acknowledging the issue regarding race and social class. Tate initially claims that Irene s
understanding of race becomes a concern when the impending exposure of Clare s racial identity
threatens to hasten the disruption of Irene s domestic security (Tate 344). However, Irene s fear of
being spotted as a

Statement Of Interest In Architecture
My interest in architecture grew due to a number of reasons. Apart from the fact that studying
architecture meant getting a chance to explore new places and sites, it is also the only profession
where I could have something that I ve designed, realized in real life. Growing up in a culturally rich
and diverse country like India, I ve always been fascinated by how every city has it s own unique
characteristics. With further research, I realized architecture is not only about designing and
construction, but more about the manifestation and expression of the cultural needs and values of the
society. It is the most important evidence of our past and helps us to interpret and study the evolution
of human settlements based on culture and environmental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Paul Fisher Character Analysis
This realistic fiction novel, by Edward Bloor, describes the problems and relationships that Paul
discovers when unlocking the meaning of truth, no matter the obstacles people put up to block him
from it. The motif of sight , is what introduces Paul to the universal statement of truth and makes him
aware of what the people surrounding him can and cannot see . Paul Fisher, the main character, uses
the motif of sight to have a new understanding of his friends, family, and himself. To begin, the move
from Texas to Tangerine Florida introduces new friends into Paul s life, which tags along clarity,
confidence, and brotherhood. For example, the team soccer captain for Tangerine Jr. High, Victor, told

reality because one cannot live in a fantasy created by others meant to shield them from the resentful
truth, and of finally seeing. All in all, the author s imagery at the end leaves the reader thinking about
the liberation that comes from hope and a fresh start. Lastly, does a lie really protect a loved one from

VoIPAdoption at Butler University Essay
Case Study
The VoIP Adoption at Butler University
What were the primary reasons for changing the current system at Butler?
The primary reason that Butler University decided to change their current system was due to the fact
that their original provider was not fulfilling the university s needs. Butler had originally used Centrex
as their service provider. Centrex, being an older system, could not provide Butler University with the
modern, more up to date features that they needed. The Centrex system was based on features that
were over a decade old, and customizing this system was done easily by any means. Butler began to
expand and certain departments began to expand. This caused issues with the current Centrex system

The main objectives of the pilot program were to test the new features and to gain feedback from
people using the new system. Six weeks before the new system went live, Butler set up 40 phones
with department coordinators and high level staff to test the new system. Over three weeks they tested
the system and gathered information to help improve the system if need by. The overall goal of the
pilot program was to gain buy in from the user community . Obviously when establishing a new
program, there is bound to be some problems and bugs. For instance, Butler encountered a software
bug that caused immense stress to the staff and the system developers. Some of the issues caused by
the software bug were random server reboots, lost phone numbers, voicemail malfunctions, and a
problem with all of the multiline phones.
Do you think Butler made the right decision to utilize this new technology? What implications does
this decision hold for Butler s IT department in the long run?
Yes I believe that Butler made the right decision to utilize this new technology. The system that they
were using before was outdated and was not performing to the standards that Butler needed. The VoIP
system that Butler decided to implement was a great decision to help improve the features that the
Centrex system before lacked in. Although the VoIP system they established was a great idea, it was
rather expensive compared to the Centrex system they were running before.

Classroom Management Is An Important Aspect Of Teaching
Classroom management is an important aspect in teaching and one that students should take some
responsibility for. I have taken the approach of showing respect to the students through introducing
rights and responsibilities into the classroom whilst at all times demonstrating a pile of good will
towards each student. Regular classroom meetings will be used to maintain behaviour and
relationships between teacher and students, but also between students as well. These meetings will
address any issues that students are having and look at their rights and responsibilities and whether
they are working or need to be changed. Lewis states that the aim of a management approach should
be to turn misbehaving students into obedient students and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is best to introduce something which they will be greater inclined to follow. Responsibility attached
to rights gives the teacher the opportunity to encourage students to understand the main reason that
they will stop or try to alter certain behaviours is because it interferes with the rights of the other
students in the classroom. The two major rights which should be protected by the teacher are that
students have the right to learn as much as possible and the second is that all students have the right to
feel physically and emotionally safe within the classroom. Students should be involved in this
discussion and identify what behaviours are appropriate or inappropriate if the rights of their
classmates are to be respected. If students are involved in making these decisions, they are more likely
to abide by them.
There are two types of responsibility which are attached to rights. The first being personal
responsibility which looks at the behaviours students should or shouldn t do if they are to behave
responsibly(DO YOU MENTION HOW YOU WILL DO THIS). The second is communal
responsibility where students encourage their classmates to do the right thing and discourage them to
do the wrong thing. (off lms The Developmental Management Approach to classroom behaviour).
When researching this topic there were many theorists who formed different views on classroom
management. Two in particular were Johnson and Whittington (1994) who performed a large study on

Who Is The Greek Beast Cerberus The Protector Of Capitalism
We live in a world controlled by an invisible yet very present force that shapes the way we live our
daily lives. With industry as its host and technology as the blood being pumped into its heart, it is a
force powerful enough to bend politics to fit its needs. Capitalism; a method of industry where
production and distribution are privately or corporately owned, its operation grows through profits,
exploitation of labor, and extinguishing competition. During the Industrial Revolution technology was
on the global stage. Factories and machines are built in existing cities producing and distributing mass
goods on a global scale. Over time this fast production of goods would replace the old agricultural
economy to a modern urban economy. Today the revolution is praised for creating a global trade
market while surging us into a world of technology. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is evident today in New York City, where gentrification is forcing homeowners and local
businesses out of their spaces for incoming international buyers and corporations. Powerfully
connected cities such as New York attract major industries because of their trade ports, financial

and increased rent to get the most bang for their buck. While invisible actors of major corporations
continue to exploit labor and extinguish competition religiously for profit, technology embodies
Cerberus; the protector of capitalism. The greek beast Cerberus is known for protecting the realm of
Hades from intruders. In the similar sense technology is constantly being advanced and innovated to
make production more efficient and cheap, protecting capitalist wealth from the middle/lower class.

Similarities Between Metropolis And Dystopiar Cities
MODULE : METROPOLIS AND NINETEEN EIGHTY FOUR ESSAY Dystopian societies illustrate
how historical contexts can influence the political and social values of the time, exploring the extent of
the potential for exploitation of power. Fritz Lang s German expressionist film, Metropolis (1927) and
George Orwell s satirical novel Nineteen Eighty Four (1949) dramatise the impact of oppressive
controlling forces upon the individual illustrating an abuse of power, emphasising the potential of its
exploitation of the populist. Lang reflects the anxieties of the Weimar Republic, under the

subsequent disunity between the working and upper classes, whilst ... Show more content on

This expresses the reality of post World War I as the film s introductory sequence draws upon German
Expressionist elements presenting a low angle of towering skyscrapers in Bauhaus design and abstract
machinery. This artistic vivid and opulent setting contrasts with extreme close up of machines
suggesting the collective power of movement parallel to the workers, as they operate machinery
beneath the city in synchronicity. This disparity creates a defined hierarchical structure that juxtaposes
the heightened sense of power experienced by the ruling elite with the worker s sense of loss of
identity in the face of technological expansion. This extreme dichotomy exposes the innate fear of
abuse of power within a capitalist framework as audiences perceived the potential of conformity to a
totalitarian corporation, leading to dehumanisation of humanity. Further explored in the creation
scene, the political perspective reveals how the over development of technology for progress,
consequently results in abuse of power. This is developed as the machine man is displayed in a low
angle shot underneath upside down pentagram, the religious motif symbolic of how Rotwang proves
to be usurping the powers of god, emphasising that through the abuse of power, technology has the
ability to create a loss of identity leading to dehumanisation. Through the technological expansion
made apparent through Lang s dystopic world the potential of the exploitation of power is

Harambe should not have gotten killed because according to experts he was not aggressive towards
people, and also he was used to humans. Also I think that the place he lived should have been fully

first reason why I think Harambe shouldn t have been killed is because he was used to the presence of

The Future Effect Of The Election Of Prime Minister Justin...
This political study will define the future effect of the election of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in
terms of the Canadian foreign policy in the restructuring of military intervention in foreign affairs and
the pro trade globalization mandates of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). Trudeau s election defines
the overriding political agenda of the Liberal Party of Canada to stop ineffective bombing missions in
Syria and Iraq, yet to maintain special forces troops to better manage the war against ISIS. More so,
Trudeau supports the globalization of Canadian trade by promoting the positive effects of the TPP to
promote international growth in trade. These aspects of the new Liberal government are vital aspects
of as greater focus on improved economic security and a declining approach to pro American bombing
campaigns as a form of military interventionism in foreign affairs. In essence, a political analysis of
the future effects of the Liberal Party of Canada under PM Trudeau will define the restructuring of
military intervention in Iraq and Syria and the increased focus on international trade under the
guidelines of the TPP in foreign policy. The election of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of the Liberal
Party of Canada on October 14th, 2015 defined a political shift in the power of the Conservative Party

Criticism Of Rudyard Kipling
1. Introduction
Deemed nowadays a classical British writer, Rudyard Kipling enjoyed his peak of popularity during
the 1890s (Williams 266). In the course of his prolific literary career, lasting from the 1890s to the
1930s (Hunter 21), Kipling wrote several novels, numerous poems and more than 250 short stories
(Malcolm 114). Beside and to some extent due to his experiments with different literary genres, he
covered diverse topics, devising a variety of characters. Not unexpectedly, many of his works both
lyric and prose have been extensively studied by literary scholars and critics. For example, one of
Kipling s Great War stories Mary Postgate has attracted the attention of such academicians as Jamie
Paris, Peter E. Firchow, Trudi Tate, Kaori Nagai and Harry Ricketts who have addressed the following
topics: civilian war neurosis, women s patriotism, motherhood and even Kipling s attitude towards the
Great War.
Taking into consideration the vast literary heritage of Rudyard Kipling, it is unsurprising that not all of
his works have been enjoying equal popularity among specialists. For example, to the knowledge of

The short story, in its turn, narrates about a boy who deprives himself of an opportunity to become the

The Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB)
The Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB) is a noble and prestigious award, awarded to only the most elite
candidates . The history of the EIB was established to give infantry esprit de corps, meaning a feeling
of pride and self worth, in an otherwise daunting field . The candidates are tested on a variety of trials
which determine the overall fitness and proficiencies in common infantry tasks and drills. The award
allows senior commands to have an understanding of how fit their troops are for battle, and how
proficient training is being conducted . The first testing was conducted in 1944 with 100 Non
Commissioned Officers with only 10 remaining after the testing was completed. The standards to earn

Support A strategic leader should definitely analyze what affects competitive advantage and how
exactly the company is underperforming. One of the recommendations would be scenario planning. It
would be beneficial to analyze various cases where different product categories can be changed and to
see how will the certain change affect the financial performance of the company. The second
recommendation would be to synthesize all available input from all possible sources internal and
external and create a strategic vision that will help the company see where they need to make changes
and how those changes will help the growth of the financial. Another recommendation would be to
provide customers the service that other competitors do not provide be it either discounts or other
ways of promotions. This will help differentiate PepsiCo from its competitors. Do you agree with
Indra Nooyi s philosophy that performance and purpose are intimately linked and you can t do one

motivation for the better level of performance. Human sustainability, environmental sustainability and

The Theme Of Fate In I Am Mordred
Fate in I Am Mordred
The idea that fate is inevitable manifests itself throughout the Arthurian legend I am Mordred. Fate s a
predestined fortune that is supposedly inevitable. (fate) The question of changing fate prevails as an
underlying theme in the book. Characters lives and choices revolve around the idea of their
predetermined destiny. It proves difficult to decide whether fate is escapable or not.
From the beginning of the book Mordred s fate plays a key factor in characters actions. The king s
advisor Merlin prophesied Mordred to kill his father, King Arthur, when he reaches the age of
seventeen. When the prologue starts King Arthur s sacrificing all the male babies in the kingdom who
were born on May Day, including Mordred. This will supposedly change the fate prophesized for them
according to his advisor Merlin. But Merlin had spoken: Let all male babies of the nobility born on
May Day be brought to the shore. That was the sort of thing that happened when the King did wrong
(Springer Vii). King Arthur thought by doing this he had managed to avoid his predestined doom. As
soon as chapter one starts, it reveals one baby out of the forty brought to sea managed to survive. That
one baby was King Arthur s son, Mordred. He was saved by a couple who lived by the sea. They raise
him as their own and he becomes a part of their fisher family. At this point Mordred has not managed
to escape his fate and King Arthur hasn t either.
Around the age of six Mordred meets

Sinus And Skull Base Surgery
Intra Operative Image Guidance in Sinus and Skull Base Surgery
Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) using rigid endoscopes has developed into becoming the
mainstay treatment for opening obstructed outflow tracts of the paranasal sinuses. However,
limitations surrounding FESS have resulted in intra operative Image Guidance Systems (IGS) to
improve outcomes in complex skull base procedures. A principal limitation of the endoscopic
endonasal approach is the availability of only a two dimensional view, with surgeons instead
localising instruments based partly on their depth of penetration and tactile sensation. The restricted
nature of the sinonasal tract and the complex arrangement of adjacent vital structures (carotid artery,

IGS were first developed for the application in neurosurgical procedures to determine precise
anatomical locations, which was deemed to be primordial. The 1970 s saw the trial of computed
tomography (CT) assisted location systems for focal destruction in stereotactic brain surgery. (3 5)
These early devices impeded efficient sinus surgery with the need for reference frames fixated to the
cranium and positioning of fiducial markers. During the 1980 s, multiple systems were constructed to
bypass the need for reference frames, localising instead by acoustic or ultrasound triangulation or even
articulated arms. During this timeframe, referencing was always in accordance to fiducial markers.(6)
Innovative systems dedicated to endonasal surgery progressed in the 1990s through the use of infrared
diodes and opaque radio markers.(7 9) In 1994, the Americans were the first to describe computer
assisted endoscopic sinus surgery, using a frameless stereotactic system with attached articulated arms
of an ISG viewing wand.(10) The technology pertaining to intraoperative IGS in endoscopic sinus and
skull base surgery continues to develop.
IGS using either electromagnetic or optical based technologies are designed to localise surgical
instruments in the operative field. Both technologies allow for: real time detection of the position of
instruments in three dimensional imaging; are accurate to within 2mm;

Life Of A College For Women
Vassar College was founded by Matthew Vassar in 1865 as an all woman s school. Vassar, a wealthy
man with no children was prepared to give his money to build a hospital that would immortalize his
name, but Milo Jewett convinced him it would create a bigger legacy to build a college for women
(Vassar admissions). Vassar agreed with Jewett and set about planning the school. He wanted to
produce well rounded women that would eventually graduate from a college that would be considered
the female equivalent of Harvard. The young women attending the college would receive all well
rounded, useful degree in liberal arts. This was uncommon during that time period because most ladies
attended an all girls seminary school instead of a college. Even though the college provided a liberal
arts education it still ran under many of the same governances as the seminary schools had. This
created a strange mix between a college and seminary school which changed the way the architecture
and the policy of the school were shaped. Jewett and Vassar wanted to provide a liberal arts education
to young women but they still believed that the young women needed to be protected. At first Jewett
only wanted to hire male professors for his school believing they would be the individuals best
equipped to educate the students (Kluge 36). Not only did this idea counter the belief that women
could learn the same material as men it also was seen as improper. Many people of that time period

Global C Suite Programme On Corporate Executives Essay
INTRODUCTION
A recent study conducted by IBM under its Global C suite programme on corporate executives
revealed that a comparatively low percentage of New Zealand business hold that they understand their
customers (IBM Global Business Services, 2014). According to the study, only sixteen percent of top
corporate executives (CEOs, CFOs, COOs and other C level executives) in New Zealand believe that
they understand their clients or consumers. The figure is relatively low if compared to the global total
of thirty five percent considering the advance economy of the country. The article also pointed out that
significant efforts will be made to improve New Zealand s overall percentage performance to around
82% in the next 3to 5 years.
The study also introduced a new business model in the social media digital age being the everyone to

Out-Of-Hospital Research Paper
The practice of out of hospital emergency medical care has changed considerably over the last 120
years [1]. Started in the early 1900s, ambulance services in the Commonwealth countries were
originally small teams of volunteers trained by charitable organisations such as St John Ambulance

caused by increasing industrialisation [2]. In the majority of countries all over the world especially in
the western countries nowadays, emergency medical systems have evolved into an organized health

Only once in a lifetime is one blessed to witness legendary athletes perform and break records. I was
fortunate enough to witness the even during my generation when Michael Phelps smashed world
records in 1 sensational week that took the sporting world by storm. Phelps rose to stardom and soon
was minting millions through endorsement deals not only in the US but across the globe as well. At a
quick glance, one would assume that Phelps became a sensation overnight. But a deeper research into
the strategy that made Michael Phelps the sportsman he is, is astounding and shows that a proper
brand building, hard work and commitment towards the set targets and goals can reap dividends. The

Essay on Texting and Driving vs. Drunk Driving
Texting and Driving vs. Drunk Driving Over the last century, technology has helped society move
forward, making things faster and easier. Having a vehicle has allowed people to reach a destination
faster than they would if they had to ride a bike or even walk. Also the ability to now text using a cell
phone speeds up the communication process even more. With all the new technological advances you
have to many people taking advantage of it; by texting while they are driving to make business or
personal communications even faster. On the other hand you have a new technological advance
combined with the alcohol that has been around for ages. Drinking brings out a different side in every

It found that drivers who sent a text had slower response times, and were more likely to drift in and
out of lanes compared to drivers who were intoxicated. The study found that reaction times for those
who sent a text while driving were 35 percent worse than when they drove without any distractions at
all. When driving while intoxicated, the reaction time was only 12 percent worse than when the driver
was sober and driving without any texting distractions ( Neiger ). The third test showed; At 35 miles
an hour, Mr. Alterman s average reaction time was .57 seconds, but while texting it rose to 1.36
seconds, more than twice his average reaction time of .64 seconds while under the influence. Mr.
Brown fared better, but his average reaction time of .45 seconds rose to .52 seconds while texting,
worse than his average time of .46 seconds while driving drunk. The results of the tests at 70 miles an
hour were better in terms of reaction times. But at highway speeds, the extra distance traveled before
coming to a complete stop was much greater. For example, Mr. Alterman traveled an average of four
feet farther while driving drunk and an average of 70 feet farther while texting( Chang ). As a research
shows, texting and driving is much worse than driving while drunk. When you drive drunk it makes
your reaction time a little slower and throws your balance off a little bit. But on the other hand texting

Being called into Ministry is more to me than a job, it is a calling from the Lord Jesus Christ to

mother said I should, or for the monetary benefits. I entered the minister because The Lord placed
upon my life a strong calling to serve in a full time capacity. I was asked; how does someone know
that they are called to the ministry. I answered them in a question. Can you be happy doing anything

This is the conclusion of desires for today s church member. However this is contrary to what the Lord
teaches pastors and teachers to do. Let me remind you that in 2 Timothy 4:3 5, the Bible warns us that:
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth,
and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an
evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. What a powerful truth! People want their own desires.
There is an element regarding preaching we should consider. The element is known as the mandate to
preach . There are many references in the bible of mandates to preach the word. To list a few that
comes to mind are Matthew 28:19 2, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. 2 Timothy 2:2 states, And the things that
thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be
able to teach others also. 2Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove,
rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. And finally, Titus 2:1 says, But

The Significance of Xenia in Homer’s The Odyssey

The Significance of Xenia in Homer s Odyssey The society of Ancient Greece was very much
centered around the gods, and a healthy fear of the consequences of not obeying their laws. The next
most important staples of the society were the concepts of braver, pride, and hospitality, or Xenia. The
significance of these values is shown quite clearly in The Odyssey of Homer.
In the first five books of the epic, Telemachos is shown great hospitality by the kings, Nestor, and
Menelaos. As Homer writes in description of Nestor s reception of Telemachos and Athena, These
men, when they sighted the strangers, all came down together and gave them greeting with their hands

(Homer.9.289 2910 This is one example of the brutality that Odysseus and his crew were also shown,
rather than hospitality. The range of degrees of hospitality shown to the travelers is a testament to the
number of people who ignored the law of Xenia.
The hospitality that Telemachos and Penelope show Odysseus when he returns home, even though
they do not know who he really is yet another example of xenia. This hospitality helps in his winning
his home back from the suitors. Telemachos welcomes Odysseus into the house, and gives him
permission to beg the suitors of money. Despite knowing this, said suitors harass him when he asks for
coins. In response to this, Telemachos says , There will be no pleasure in this feast, at all since vile
things will be uppermost. Now the hallowed prince Telemachos spoken [...] I drive away no man.
Telemachos s defense of Odysseus, even in guise of a vagabond, shows great grace on his part, and
show great hospitality, on top of undermining the suitors, thus giving them less power. After the
suitors have gone home, Penelope summons her maidservant, saying , Eurynome, bring up a chair, and
put a fleece on it, so that the stranger can be seated, and tell me his story, and listen to what I have to
say. (Homer.18.97 99) This statement shows that Penelope is intending t make a beggar as comfortable

Southern Somalia Research Paper
Somalia was colonized by many different countries. It was colonized by Britain, France, Egypt,
Ethiopia, and Italy. Egypt had taken over the coast in 1875. Britain colonized it in 1887. They did this
because they wanted to guard the Suez canal. France took over a part of Somalia because they didn t
get any land in Egypt. In the early 1900 s, Italy gained control of Southern Somalia. They had control
of Southern Somalia until July 1st, 1960 when they gained their own independence. Life during these
colonial times was bad in some places but not all. They were treated unfairly in most places and their
individual culture was not given respect. This was mainly due to Europe wanting it only for the
resources they would get. Italy treated them very well and fairly for a while until they decided to make
the natives adjust to Italian law. They treated them well at first because they were trying not to disturb
the colonies. The colonial government in the British Somaliland was not liked by the people. There
were many uprisings and this made the British abandon the interior of Somalia and they went for the

had an unsettling impact on international relations in northeast Asia, particularly its nuclear tests in
2006 and 2009 and its shelling of Yeonpyeong Island in 2010, all of which led to tensions between

Today, everyone in a position of power in North Korea is at least twice Kim Jong Un s age and vastly
more experienced (Powell). But they continue to salute him at a moments notice. Any disrespect has
meant at minimum, a sentence in North Korea s notorious gulag and at worst death. Consider one
especially brutal case: in the mid 1990s, just as the famine that would eventually kill millions of North
Koreans was taking hold, reports of grumbling and dissent in a prominent Korean People s Army s
division reached Pyongyang (Powell). Kim Jong Il, according to an intelligence source, had the unit s
officer corps several dozen men arrested and then made the enlisted men watch what could potentially
be their future. The arrested officers were required to lie in the middle of a road, their hands and legs
tied. Several tanks rumbled forward and ran back and forth over the officers, crushing them to death
(Powell). This combination of mercilessness, beliefs and seclusion lead many observers of North
Korea to believe that there is no question Kim Jong Un will be making the decisions now, says a
former intelligence analyst in East Asia. He may make the decisions, but they will be based on
information filtered through those around him, men who are not peers but elders (Powell). In addition

The Debate Over Nozick s Experiment Thought Machine
I. Introduction
In what may seem a harsh generalization, I would like to begin by considering the likelihood that a
Christian would commit suicide? On first inclination we know that they would not because they
perceive suicide to be a sin. Even with a less nuanced version we know that in spite of the belief of
heaven and a perfect afterlife there has not been a wide scale mass extinction of Christians any time
lately. In asking a person this it is more than likely that they would likely they were being played a
joke on. My point is to say, in a sense, this is similar to why we see time and time again philosophers
in debate over Nozick s experiment thought machine. We see philosophers like Nozick advocate that a
life plugged into the machine is not in fact a life at all, and that if people were to be given the option to
stay plugged into this machine that provided them endless bliss they still would not take it. If the
question of why would a person not chose to plug into the experience machine is not clear, I once
again bring up the idea of a Christian committing suicide, which may people may find incredulous.
Why is it that it would be incredulous for a Christian to chose to live another life of more happiness,
yet it would not be so for someone to plug into Nozick s own experience thought machine?
If Nozick s experience machine ultimately offers happiness through a chosen series of experiences and
the gist/selling point of heaven is that there everything you would want

Witchcraft in Europe during the 17th century was common. It mainly took place in Germany, but also
took place in England. Witches were associated with evil; it was believed witches inherited magical
powers from Satan in exchange for the witch s soul. Some of these magical powers included
outrageous claims such as flying, being able to transform and cursing bad luck on others. It was
extremely dangerous to be accused of being a witch as the most common punishment was death, often
by beheading or even being burnt at the stake.
A large proportion of society in England believed in witchcraft, but the reasons as to why a country

[IMAGE]One of the most famous ways in history to test if one was guilty of witchcraft was the
swimming of witches method. This type of trial involved attaching a rope around a person s body and
dunking them in the water, if they were to float then they would be considered guilty. The water was
supposed to represent purity, anybody who floated was thought to have a pact with Satan and therefore
rise to the top. Although this technique was not meant as a punishment many people drowned as a
result. This type of trial was later outlawed as a superstitious and disorderly practice.
Stearne and Hopkins were two men famous for there witch hunts during the 1640 s. By 1646 Hopkins
had almost 150 hangings to his name and was well known in England for his hunts. Little is known
about either of them but from records Hopkins is believed to be hot headed, arrogant and very
outgoing, he even named himself Witchfinder General. By contrast his partner Stearne was very
closed and bookish , he was not as notorious as Hopkins but had an involvement.
Surprisingly Hopkins was praised by the people and had a lot of public support, people who believed
in witches saw him as a hero and when he arrived in Norfolk in 1646 he was welcomed by masses of
people who believed he would be a solution to their

Why Do People Travel Essay
First, I just want you to ask yourself a little and simple question. Why do you travel? Have you
answered it? I sincerely want you to answer it before I do so, that will help you understand with more
ease. The first one I thought of was to learn. Many people, in fact, love to travel to get to know a
country s culture, food, language and landmarks. This will help people be more culturally diverse,
open minded and usually more balanced people. The second reason I thought of was to have an
adventure. Naturally, some people are more adventurous than others so they prefer doing something
they have never done before. For instance, people who live near the ocean have the tendency to visit
more mountainous places so they can have new experiences and do more radical activities. Another
obvious reason is to spend some quality time with your family. Nowadays people work during most of
their days and go back home already tired, meaning they have less time for their families and people
they love than before. Thus, they often go for a journey together during holidays and sometimes even
weekends. The final reason I have got is quite different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As you might remember I gave four reasons to why people travel: to learn, to have an adventure, to
spend time with people you like and to work. My trip to Granada can apply to all four reasons. It was
a school trip, where I learned and adventured myself whilst I spent time with people I like, my friends.
This trip was a change from what I am used to in every way. Change is a key word here because that is
what we mainly seek through traveling. A change from our routines, to get away from the weather,
work and culture we are used to. By simply changing, I was able to avoid, not forget, the strains and
stresses of my everyday life and, thus, we have more positive feelings. That is why we travel; we
release ourselves from what saddens us and focus on what we are doing at that

Rousseau s Views On Private Property
Henri Aleksi Vanhanen Midterm Exam 11.6.2015 PART A 1. The quote was made by Jean Jacques
Rousseau (1712 1778) in his creation On Social Contract (1762) (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4).
Rousseau s discourse on private property can be understood as a response to John Locke s theories
regarding property and especially to Locke s labor theory and the government s role in it (assumption
based on the similarity of their discourse). According to Locke s labor theory, a man s labor defines
his right to own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 16) and that one of the government s
top priorities is to guarantee inheritance of private property for those who have and own something
(Locke, Second Treatise Government, 37). The theory also contains the aspect that one can own
something if he improves it (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 15). In the concept of the society
and government s duties Locke and Rousseau have different ideas. Locke states that the most
important social contract is made between the people and that the government should not impose its
grip upon things that the people are capable of solving together themselves (Locke, Second Treatise
Government, 4). For Rousseau the state of nature is not a constant state of war (Rousseau, Social
Contract, 4). This explains why Rousseau says that war cannot arise from personal relations. Rousseau
s basic idea behind the quote is to state that the civilization s creation and idea of private property and
division of

African American Culture
When speaking to a coworker who culture is German, we could relate to some things and we had
some differences beings though my culture is African American. There were some things we could
relate on about our cultures being similar such as most Germans are Christian he stated, and with my
culture it is about the same, you do have people who are not Christian but majority of the population
is. Another thing that he mentioned that we had alike was I asked what holidays he celebrate and he
stated Christmas and Easter which is another thing we have in common. He states how they strive for
the best and works very hard, I think that is in most cultures. In both of our cultures we like to be well
organized and be able to maintain schedules, agendas making sure we stay on the right track. Some
differences about our cultures would contain he stakes that he speak German. He says to him German
is considered his first language and when he came here to the United States he had to learn to speak
English. In my culture most of us already know English but some people just may pronounce things
differently. For him he says he had to be taught on how to speak English in order to communicate. He
states how no matter what they do they want it to be perfect, and when it s not they will not admit to
their faults and they do not joke very often. He also explains how he is not very friendly in the
beginning and that s just how he is coming from Germany and being German. He says most of the

2 Aminoanthraquinone Synthesis Lab Report
SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF AMTPAA The amine group of 2 Aminoanthraquinone undergoes Schiff
condensation with carbonyl group of 4 (N,N Diphenylamino) benzaldehyde along with the formation
of water as byproduct. AMTPAA has extended conjugation because of which it can be used as a hole
transport material (HTM). 2 Aminoantharquinone (AAQ) has an absorption peak at 402 nm in UV
spectroscopy which is attributed to the π π* transition of the atomic C=C ring and n π* transition of
C=O bond. 2 Azomethine 4 triphenyl amino anthraquinone (AMTPAA) has an absorption peak at
411nm.
The red shift of 9 nm observed in AMTPAA can be attributed to the extended conjugation which is a
direct consequence of the electron withdrawing azo methane bond and planar conformation of the
azomethane based backbone resulting in electronic push pull effect. An asymmetrical band with broad
shoulder peak towards shorter wavelength (around 340 350 nm) was observed due to the overlapping
with another band of the conjugated structures. As the shoulder peak has weak absorption in the
visible region these compounds will not hinder sunlight from efficiently reaching the light absorbing
molecules.
The FTIR spectrum of 2 Aminoantharquinone shows the stretching frequency for amine group around
the range of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

electrodes respectively. Differential Pulse Voltammetric measurements were performed at different
pulse rates from the potential range of 0.4 to 1.4 V to infer about oxidation and reduction peaks of
AMTPAA. The differential pulse voltammogram of AMTPAA showed the reduction peaks at 0.6 V

Essay about Gladiator
Gladiator Directed by Ridley Scott, Gladiator is an epic tale of honor, love, loyalty and power.
If you could only see two movies a year make Gladiator one of them. It is full of action, adventure,
drama, deceit and love.
Russell Crowe plays the Roman General, Maximus, who heads the Roman Army in their conquers of
Europe and Africa under the emperor Marcus Aurelius. Maximus has served Rome for two years, 264
days and this morning, and is anxiously awaiting his release by the emperor so that he may go home
and be with his dearly missed wife and son.
But Maximus is more than a general to Aurelius, he is the son he should of had and the needed
successor to the emperor. Aurelius has known that his true son, the ... Show more content on

Only Maximus can give Rome back it s freedom and let the Senate rule.
When Aurelius reveals his announcement to the anxious Commodus, he suffocates his father to gain
what he thinks is rightfully his, the power of emperor.
Commodus is a weak, young man. He is so frightened of Maximus that he orders the execution of
Maximus and his family. Maximus is able to escape execution but could not save his family in time.
The most heart wrenching scene of the movie is Maximus finding his wife and (more) child
brutalized, burned and hanging on the family front porch. Maximus weeps for his family but also for
his own death. The thought of seeing his family is the only thing that has kept him alive. You can feel
the love he feels for them. Crowe makes you believe the pain and heartache that Maximus is feeling.
You ache for his loss and want revenge against Commodus.
Maximus becomes enslaved in a foreign land and is forced to fight for his life as a gladiator. Maximus
fame as a gladiator grew within Rome as his skill at combat became apparent. Commodus fears that
Maximus will turn the Roman people against him and return rule of Rome to the Senate.
Maximus is a hero for the people and Commodus is a snake. This movie is believable. The acting by
Crowe and Phoenix makes you believe the stories and the use of digital imagery recreates ancient
Rome down to the last intricate detail.
Even if you go just for the special effects you won t be disappointed.

Symbolism Of The Angel In Shakespeare s Cat Of Tremella
Angels are bright still, though the brightest fell, (William Shakespeare) Lucifer, the cat from the movie
Cinderella (1950), represents the Biblical Lucifer. In the way that his fall from the tower (1 hour, 11
minutes), portrays Lucifer (Satan) fall from heaven. Lucifer is an extremely spoiled, imperious, and
gluttonous cat, who seems to disrupt Cinderella plans only making her life harder, showing no
appreciation for her kindness and good nature. He wanted to stay above Cinderella in position. Bruno
the dog represents St. Michael and how he strikes Lucifer down from heaven. Falling from the tower
is to be considered Lucifer descending from his heaven where he had everything, just as the biblical
Lucifer did.
Lucifer is the precious cat of Tremaine s , the step mother of Cinderella. Lucifer, his only loyalty lies
with that of his mistress, Lady Tremaine, who treats him as royalty and acts as his mother figures. She
fuels him with ignorance, arrogance, and a superiority complex towards all others. For example, the
scene where Lucifer lays on the bed with lady Tremaine (22 minutes), he creeps onto the bed and into
the shadows, this symbolizes his dark evil essence. As she orders Cinderella with excessive chores,
Lucifer sits high and mighty with a a wide grin of wicked satisfaction for Cinderella s grief. But when
Tremaine says sees Lucifer gets his bath (23 minutes 30 seconds), Lucifer sighs with discourage, not
wanting to wash away or cleanse the evil that is his

The state of Qin s rulers believes in a political philosophy called the Legalism that justifies the strict
central control and the use of the people to promote Qin, so they focused on huge construction
projects and conquest. The Qin court succeeded in uniting the empire and maintaining control for 15
years. They have standardized the writing system, money, measurements, and built a lot of

Women had very different roles in early China. Chinese women could not hold government posts.
However, women in the royal court could influence government decisions. Wives of rulers or women
in the royal family often convinced men in power to see things their way. Although their role was
limited, women also had an important influence in the home. Most women raised children and saw to

He wanted to end the problems in China and bring peace to society. Confucius believed that people
needed to have a sense of duty. Duty meant that a person must put the needs of family and community
before his or her own needs. Each person owed a duty to another person. Parents owed their children
love, and children owed their parents honor. Husbands owed their wives support, and wives owed
their husbands obedience. Above all, rulers had to set good examples. If a king ruled for the common
good, his subjects would respect him and society would prosper. Confucius believed that if each
person did his or her duty, society as a whole would do well. He also urged people to be good and to

  • 2. The Industrial Revolution Impact On Society In order to grasp the impact that the Industrial Revolution had on society, it is important to understand how drastically different people lived before this time. During the late 1700 s, manufacturing goods were nothing new to Britain and the rest of Europe and the production of goods fell on the shoulders of manual laborers and farmers. In order to survive, ordinary British families had to farm, breed livestock, and make their own goods such as clothes and soap. Much of the work was done by hand or using simple machines and the whole family was responsible for the farm and home; production was limited to what could be produced on a spinning wheel or hand loom. Preceding the Industrial Revolution, the Agricultural Revolution took place. During this time, food production was at an all time high in Britain and the population flourished causing landowners to begin pushing the common people off of the communal land in order to implement their new farming techniques at a greater scale. Commoners would soon become Britain s workforce because the poor farmers that could no longer farm land for themselves were forced to work under the landowners. Thus, the wealth that Britain had obtained from the Atlantic slave trade and the growing population set up the perfect climate for industrialization. Prior to industrializing, women and children working was not abnormal since it had always taken the whole family to maintain the household. However, now that mass amounts of people were ... • 4. John Donne And Cecile Day Lewis Since definition of love and its representation varies person to person and in the past it has already been represented in various ways, which leads one to presume that language is insufficient to represent love. However, it is evident that the language has proved to be sufficient enough to not only analyze, dissect and explain the feelings of love from so many angles including biologically. Subversions of conventions of love is not the matter of insufficiency of language but a matter of how a poet experiences love or how a poet chooses to express those experiences. It is mainly the poet s era and life experiences that dictate how he/she represents love. Thomas Wyatt, John Donne and Cecile Day Lewis are good examples of how life experiences can determine the poets divergence of traditional courtly and pastoral love. An abreast analysis of the above poets lives and their works allow us to draw parallels between their life experiences and their subversions of conventions of love. Thomas Wyatt s subversion of courtly love was influenced by his intimate relation with the women. Sir Thomas Wyatt, an English ambassador suffered from his wife s infidelity and his mistress s marriage with his king and later her execution. Due to his position of being an ambassador of England left him no choice but to represent love in courtly and patriarchal manner. Wyatt was deeply affected by the infidelity of his first wife and the execution of his mistress at the hands of the monarch. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Considerably compassion and system factors of a leadership style involve recognizing working values, attitudes, dedication and organizational commitment. Accordingly, there are four dimensions of leadership style; they are: high consideration and high system, this type of leader concerns about achieving organizational goals and the subordinates needs. Positively this leadership style benefits both the organization as well as employees. The leader has qualities that influence the organization success. Secondly, low consideration and high system declares that leaders care about the achievement of performance, but he/she does not consider the subordinates feelings; this leadership style is not healthy for employees. A good leader has to be supportive, patience, flexible, empathic and so on. Employees feelings influence their performance. Therefore, listening skills is an essential tool that a leader has to use as needed it. Third, high consideration and low system refers to a leader s role and employees participation in decision making. This is a great leadership style where a leader applies his/her natural instincts by allowing employees to participate in decision making. • 6. Anorexia Nervosa Theory patient with the food. Indeed, Karen Carpenter needs to change her way of thinking in order to treat her disorder, and in order to do so, punishment need to be associated to losing weight and reinforcement to gaining weight. Even if most anorexic patients deny their disorder, hospitalization is always the best way to keep the person alive by imposing weight restoration (Davison et al., 2013). Then, the cognitive behavioural therapy can come into play by reinforcing eating with a reward. For instance, patients are totally isolated and the only moment they see their family or have access to any divertissements is when they eat. In that case, divertissements positively reinforce gain weight. At a longer term perspective, the cognitive behavioural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Davison et al., (2013), disorders are the result of unconscious conflicts in the individual . The psychoanalytic paradigm concentrates on childhood and defines what the individual has been through during childhood is reflected in his/her adulthood. Davison et al., (2013) stated that anorexia nervosa disorder usually starts to develop in adolescence due to past unstable relationships between parents and the child. Indeed, being overprotective and overinvolved in the child s life by taking all the decisions for him without giving him a voice, as it is seen in the case of Karen Carpenter, lead the child to feel powerless, insecure, and have a low self esteem. A lack of control is felt by the child and is then transformed into high self control later on. Approaching adolescence, the child becomes more conscious about the society demands on appearance and as a result respect those requirements to be accepted by transforming him/herself into a thinner silhouette. This self control over a strict diet creates an identity to the individual. According to Mushatt (1983), problems in the family increase the probability to develop an eating disorder as anorexia nervosa. The roles played by the parents of Carpenter family were well defined: her mother has control over everything and her father was following her mother s commands in order to satisfy her. Concerning Karen s father, his passive behavior did not help to lower the anxiety level felt at home and to bring back stability within the family. Indeed, being a perfectionist mother does not help the child to grow up normally. The fact that Karen s mother was over controlling could also have participate in her development of the anorexia Nervosa disorder. Karen was not taking her own decision which is defines as it as an infantilizing decision making by Msuhatt (1983). As explained in her biography, Karen Carpenter did not even ... • 10. Analysis Of Passing By Nella Larsen the novel Passing, Nella Larsen explores the consequences and disadvantages of two African Americans living in a segregated society. The reconnection between Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry illustrates two different paths in regards to how they portray themselves in their own community. Larsen displays Clare Kendry as a light skinned women who tolerates her husband s racial comments in order to live in a higher society. Clare s decision to secretly hide her racial background because of the desire of wanting to be accepted by individuals of an upper social class greatly affects Irene. Clare s determination of overcoming racial barriers by passing as a white individual is similar to the Rhinelander/Jones case. In 1924 the son of the wealthiest families in New York married the daughter of a taxicab driver. However, Leonard Rhinelander appealed to have is marriage annulled due to believing his wife to be white when he married her (135). Rhinelander suspected Alice Jones was hiding her racial background by passing as a white individual. As the trial progressed it was concluded that that Rhinelander had an understanding of her racial background before marriage was an option between the two. The Rhinelander/Jones case demonstrates how Clare Kendry decided to pass as a white individual in order to obtain wealth and social status by marrying a white male. The three criticism texts chosen demonstrates how racial passing between Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry contributes to social status. In Nella Larsen s Passing: A Problem of Interpretation, Claudia Tate argues that race is not the novels foremost concern, but is merely a mechanism for setting the story in motion (344). Tate s decision to focus on the psychological ambiguity (343) of the novel forbids her to elaborate on the relation between race and social class. As a result, I disagree with certain statements from Tate s argument due to the lack of acknowledging the issue regarding race and social class. Tate initially claims that Irene s understanding of race becomes a concern when the impending exposure of Clare s racial identity threatens to hasten the disruption of Irene s domestic security (Tate 344). However, Irene s fear of being spotted as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The primary reason that Butler University decided to change their current system was due to the fact that their original provider was not fulfilling the university s needs. Butler had originally used Centrex as their service provider. Centrex, being an older system, could not provide Butler University with the modern, more up to date features that they needed. The Centrex system was based on features that were over a decade old, and customizing this system was done easily by any means. Butler began to expand and certain departments began to expand. Over three weeks they tested the system and gathered information to help improve the system if need by. The overall goal of the pilot program was to gain buy in from the user community . Obviously when establishing a new program, there is bound to be some problems and bugs. For instance, Butler encountered a software bug that caused immense stress to the staff and the system developers. Some of the issues caused by the software bug were random server reboots, lost phone numbers, voicemail malfunctions, and a problem with all of the multiline phones. Do you think Butler made the right decision to utilize this new technology? What implications does this decision hold for Butler s IT department in the long run? Yes I believe that Butler made the right decision to utilize this new technology. The system that they were using before was outdated and was not performing to the standards that Butler needed. The VoIP system that Butler decided to implement was a great decision to help improve the features that the Centrex system before lacked in. Although the VoIP system they established was a great idea, it was rather expensive compared to the Centrex system they were running before. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have taken the approach of showing respect to the students through introducing rights and responsibilities into the classroom whilst at all times demonstrating a pile of good will towards each student. Regular classroom meetings will be used to maintain behaviour and relationships between teacher and students, but also between students as well. These meetings will address any issues that students are having and look at their rights and responsibilities and whether they are working or need to be changed. It is best to introduce something which they will be greater inclined to follow. Responsibility attached to rights gives the teacher the opportunity to encourage students to understand the main reason that they will stop or try to alter certain behaviours is because it interferes with the rights of the other students in the classroom. The two major rights which should be protected by the teacher are that students have the right to learn as much as possible and the second is that all students have the right to feel physically and emotionally safe within the classroom. Students should be involved in this discussion and identify what behaviours are appropriate or inappropriate if the rights of their classmates are to be respected. If students are involved in making these decisions, they are more likely to abide by them. There are two types of responsibility which are attached to rights. The first being personal responsibility which looks at the behaviours students should or shouldn t do if they are to behave responsibly(DO YOU MENTION HOW YOU WILL DO THIS). The second is communal responsibility where students encourage their classmates to do the right thing and discourage them to do the wrong thing. With industry as its host and technology as the blood being pumped into its heart, it is a force powerful enough to bend politics to fit its needs. Capitalism; a method of industry where production and distribution are privately or corporately owned, its operation grows through profits, exploitation of labor, and extinguishing competition. During the Industrial Revolution technology was on the global stage. Factories and machines are built in existing cities producing and distributing mass goods on a global scale. Over time this fast production of goods would replace the old agricultural economy to a modern urban economy. Today the revolution is praised for creating a global trade market while surging us into a world of technology. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While invisible actors of major corporations continue to exploit labor and extinguish competition religiously for profit, technology embodies Cerberus; the protector of capitalism. The greek beast Cerberus is known for protecting the realm of Hades from intruders. Lang reflects the anxieties of the Weimar Republic, under the hyperinflation after World War I, highlighting the consequences of rapid industrialisation and the subsequent disunity between the working and upper classes, whilst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This expresses the reality of post World War I as the film s introductory sequence draws upon German Expressionist elements presenting a low angle of towering skyscrapers in Bauhaus design and abstract machinery. This artistic vivid and opulent setting contrasts with extreme close up of machines suggesting the collective power of movement parallel to the workers, as they operate machinery beneath the city in synchronicity. This disparity creates a defined hierarchical structure that juxtaposes the heightened sense of power experienced by the ruling elite with the worker s sense of loss of identity in the face of technological expansion. This extreme dichotomy exposes the innate fear of abuse of power within a capitalist framework as audiences perceived the potential of conformity to a totalitarian corporation, leading to dehumanisation of humanity. Further explored in the creation scene, the political perspective reveals how the over development of technology for progress, consequently results in abuse of power. This is developed as the machine man is displayed in a low angle shot underneath upside down pentagram, the religious motif symbolic of how Rotwang proves to be usurping the powers of god, emphasising that through the abuse of power, technology has the ability to create a loss of identity leading to dehumanisation. I, however, see myself as an Asian who is not like what people see in movies. We have been stereotyped and I disagree with it all. I define myself as an Asian who is twenty years old, who goes to school and study computer science. Who attends church and loves meeting people by being social. In the film the Asians did not know how to sing neither speak good English. The setting was placed in a restaurant called Chop Suey Palace Co. The Asian singers would sing and serve food. They didn t have to sing, but they did. While they were doing so, they were being laughed at by the American families. Hollywood says that we are very generous and jolly people. In asking a person this it is more than likely that they would likely they were being played a joke on. My point is to say, in a sense, this is similar to why we see time and time again philosophers in debate over Nozick s experiment thought machine. We see philosophers like Nozick advocate that a life plugged into the machine is not in fact a life at all, and that if people were to be given the option to stay plugged into this machine that provided them endless bliss they still would not take it. If the question of why would a person not chose to plug into the experience machine is not clear, I once again bring up the idea of a Christian committing suicide, which may people may find incredulous. Why is it that it would be incredulous for a Christian to chose to live another life of more happiness, yet it would not be so for someone to plug into Nozick s own experience thought machine? If Nozick s experience machine ultimately offers happiness through a chosen series of experiences and the gist/selling point of heaven is that there everything you would want ... I am now wondering what the results of all of my hard work would be, after working as hard as a worker bee. My coach has bright pink hair and is a little bit out there, she could make anything happen, just because she wants to. Soccer is not my main sport, so being on varsity would be a stretch. I am exhausted from the hard this week, I feel like I am going to collapse. The swelling on my calves is a big egg, I am ready for the answer to hit me like a train. I taste the saltiness of my sweat dripping down my face and into my mouth. The salt in me made my sodium level extremely high. I feel like a pretzel, I am extremely salty from the sweat ... But, what stood out in my head like a bullhorn is when Franke said loudly, this is your varsity team and a few seconds later in a quieter voice, each and every one of you earned it . I smell the odor of pavement on a hot summer s day, very tart and strong. The smell of a natural perfume from all of the girls, inducing myself, sweating and working hard to prove their spot. I get a whiff of Franke s smell when she walks over to me and shakes my hand. I feel the dry skin as rough as a rocks on my damp hands. Witches were associated with evil; it was believed witches inherited magical powers from Satan in exchange for the witch s soul. Some of these magical powers included outrageous claims such as flying, being able to transform and cursing bad luck on others. It was extremely dangerous to be accused of being a witch as the most common punishment was death, often by beheading or even being burnt at the stake. [IMAGE]One of the most famous ways in history to test if one was guilty of witchcraft was the swimming of witches method. This type of trial involved attaching a rope around a person s body and dunking them in the water, if they were to float then they would be considered guilty. The water was supposed to represent purity, anybody who floated was thought to have a pact with Satan and therefore rise to the top. Although this technique was not meant as a punishment many people drowned as a result. This type of trial was later outlawed as a superstitious and disorderly practice. Stearne and Hopkins were two men famous for there witch hunts during the 1640 s. By 1646 Hopkins had almost 150 hangings to his name and was well known in England for his hunts. Little is known about either of them but from records Hopkins is believed to be hot headed, arrogant and very outgoing, he even named himself Witchfinder General. By contrast his partner Stearne was very closed and bookish , he was not as notorious as Hopkins but had an involvement. Surprisingly Hopkins was praised by the people and had a lot of public support, people who believed in witches saw him as a hero and when he arrived in Norfolk in 1646 he was welcomed by masses of people who believed he would be a solution to their ... • 41. Why Do People Travel Essay First, I just want you to ask yourself a little and simple question. Why do you travel? Have you answered it? I sincerely want you to answer it before I do so, that will help you understand with more ease. The first one I thought of was to learn. Many people, in fact, love to travel to get to know a country s culture, food, language and landmarks. This will help people be more culturally diverse, open minded and usually more balanced people. The second reason I thought of was to have an adventure. Naturally, some people are more adventurous than others so they prefer doing something they have never done before. For instance, people who live near the ocean have the tendency to visit more mountainous places so they can have new experiences and do more radical activities. Another obvious reason is to spend some quality time with your family. Nowadays people work during most of their days and go back home already tired, meaning they have less time for their families and people they love than before. Thus, they often go for a journey together during holidays and sometimes even weekends. The final reason I have got is quite different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As you might remember I gave four reasons to why people travel: to learn, to have an adventure, to spend time with people you like and to work. My trip to Granada can apply to all four reasons. It was a school trip, where I learned and adventured myself whilst I spent time with people I like, my friends. This trip was a change from what I am used to in every way. Change is a key word here because that is what we mainly seek through traveling. A change from our routines, to get away from the weather, work and culture we are used to. By simply changing, I was able to avoid, not forget, the strains and stresses of my everyday life and, thus, we have more positive feelings. That is why we travel; we release ourselves from what saddens us and focus on what we are doing at that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Rousseau s Views On Private Property Henri Aleksi Vanhanen Midterm Exam 11.6.2015 PART A 1. The quote was made by Jean Jacques Rousseau (1712 1778) in his creation On Social Contract (1762) (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4). Rousseau s discourse on private property can be understood as a response to John Locke s theories regarding property and especially to Locke s labor theory and the government s role in it (assumption based on the similarity of their discourse). According to Locke s labor theory, a man s labor defines his right to own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 16) and that one of the government s top priorities is to guarantee inheritance of private property for those who have and own something (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 37). The theory also contains the aspect that one can own something if he improves it (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 15). In the concept of the society and government s duties Locke and Rousseau have different ideas. Locke states that the most important social contract is made between the people and that the government should not impose its grip upon things that the people are capable of solving together themselves (Locke, Second Treatise Government, 4). For Rousseau the state of nature is not a constant state of war (Rousseau, Social Contract, 4). This explains why Rousseau says that war cannot arise from personal relations. Rousseau s basic idea behind the quote is to state that the civilization s creation and idea of private property and division of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. 2 Aminoanthraquinone Synthesis Lab Report SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF AMTPAA The amine group of 2 Aminoanthraquinone undergoes Schiff condensation with carbonyl group of 4 (N,N Diphenylamino) benzaldehyde along with the formation of water as byproduct. AMTPAA has extended conjugation because of which it can be used as a hole transport material (HTM). 2 Aminoantharquinone (AAQ) has an absorption peak at 402 nm in UV spectroscopy which is attributed to the π π* transition of the atomic C=C ring and n π* transition of C=O bond. 2 Azomethine 4 triphenyl amino anthraquinone (AMTPAA) has an absorption peak at 411nm. The red shift of 9 nm observed in AMTPAA can be attributed to the extended conjugation which is a direct consequence of the electron withdrawing azo methane bond and planar conformation of the azomethane based backbone resulting in electronic push pull effect. An asymmetrical band with broad shoulder peak towards shorter wavelength (around 340 350 nm) was observed due to the overlapping with another band of the conjugated structures. As the shoulder peak has weak absorption in the visible region these compounds will not hinder sunlight from efficiently reaching the light absorbing molecules.
