Comparing The Works Of Jacob And Wilhelm Grimm
It is safe to say that you are the sort of individual who makes the best choice and makes a move or
would you say you are the lethargic individual who gives others a chance to do the hard work for you?
No matter what you classify yourself to be, life has its way if coming back arounding, giving people
what they deserve. In the folktale ¨Frau Holle¨ by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm the author compares and
contrast the characteristics and personalities of two sisters. This comparison between the sisters
demonstrate how good witted people with benevolent actions later in life will receive a reward. In
contrast greedy and lazy people who don t endeavor their very best to perform a task will fall short of
a reward, because it is not well deserved. Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One the willingness to help other out of the kindness of their heart, and the other who has a mind set
of greed and what betters me. Another way of looking at the tasks is to regard the loaves and apples as
tests. They are tasks that reveal character. A person who passes them may proceed to attainment. A
person who fails them will not be able to attain, as her own shortcomings will get the better of her.
This industrious girl will reach her attainment later in the story, unfortunately her step sister falls
short. The tale of Mother Holle speaks as much about character as about attainment. The beautiful girl
s initiation was by invitation. The ugly girl tried to gain it by force. However, attainment can only go
to the right person. That is the person who is patient, diligent and of good character. Try as she will,
the wrong person cannot attain because she is unwilling to let go of her own personal

Alpha-Beta Exercise Hr595 Essay
Journal Entry 3 Alpha Beta Exercise Beta Group BACKGROUND The name of this negotiation
exercise is ALPHA BETA. The goal of this negotiation is to stay within character and gain as much
information from the other side as possible. The uncertainties confronted were how to lead the
negotiation as a Betan. The skills that we will try to exhibit are trying to embody the style and culture
of the Betans. Our opponents, Alpha Inc., were prepared with their demands. They seemed to have
researched our culture and were not susceptible to them. We did not reach a settlement, our goal was
to remain in character and gather as much information as possible. ANALYSIS Our BATNA for this

The face saving behavior that was displayed was when we offered to pay for a limo and hotel for
Alpha so that we have more time. POST NEGOTIATION REFLECTION In this negotiation, we
learned that it is important to research your opponent, to understand their culture, not only of their
country or backgrounds, but also their company culture. When we are able to understand our opponent
s way of thinking about business and doing business we can then understand how to approach a
negotiation situation with them. In this exercise, we learned that it is difficult for us to adjust when it
involves breaking or acting in a way opposite of what we are accustomed to. We also learned that
although my classmates live in the same country as we do, their upbringings may have similarities to
their origin country and will therefore help them to communicate and adjust to that country s norms
and standards. We were surprised how we were able to stay in character although it was hard and it
was surprising how people responded when they were unaware of your intentions and strategies. If we
had to do this exercise again, what we can do is do more research on our opponents so that we would
have an idea of what to expect in the negotiation table. LAST ENTRY By taking this course, we have
learned the different types of negotiations and the strategies to be used in

International Law And International Legal Theory
Since its beginning, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine has raised legal issues that get to the core of
International Law and international legal theory. In particular, the debate among legal experts has
focused on the question of secession, the right to self determination of people, and the respect of the
territorial integrity of States. The main concern of the scholarship has been to identify the political and
legal consequences of a secession of Ukraine s eastern territories and the possible violations of
International Law that would occur in such a situation. A less investigated aspect of the conflict is the
chance to find a legal solution to the hostilities, seeking to cease violence among the parties and to
settle the dispute under the aegis of the UN. This goal may be achieved with the deployment of UN
peacekeeping forces. The idea of a peacekeeping operation in Eastern Ukraine is advanced following
the requests sent to the UN by the Ukrainian Government in the last two years. In particular, on 4
January 2016 the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN has called for a UN peacekeeping
mission in the region of Donbas. Previously, on 14 April 2014 and on 23 February 2015, other two
requests were filed for the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in the territory of Eastern Ukraine.
In these last two requests reference was made to the possibility to have the European Union involved
as a mediator among the opposing parties and as a regional provider of

In spite of the fact that every component of mise en scene is consolidated with different components to
make a particular climate in each film, concentrating on components of mise en scene independently
helps the audience to comprehend the capacity of every specific component. By concentrating on the
setting of a scene, the audience can recognize the careful significance of the time and place that he is
indicated with the goal that he can consider the scene in relationship to the correct chronicled or social
connection. Custom, such as setting, helps the audience comprehend the activity of a scene in
connection to a bigger setting. It additionally permits the filmmaker to create critical character
attributes in his characters. By studying each of these elements as separate entities any enthusiastic
student of film can begin to understand the important role that the manipulation of the elements of
mise en scene plays within the entire context of film. And, by studying these elements as separate
entities, the student of film can begin to appreciate the artistry required in film

The Iran Hostage Crisis
The late 20th century was a very turbulent time in American history. In 1976, Jimmy Carter was
elected to the presidency, and he had many goals to help better America. However, on November 4th,
1979, a group of radical students seized the United States embassy in Tehran, Iran. This completely
altered the course of American history and relations with the Middle East. This crisis had many
impacts on the United States. It caused the Energy Crisis which in turn caused the Recession of 1979.
The Iran Hostage Crisis also had political consequences for President Carter. It was a major factor that
contributed to him losing the election of 1980 to Ronald Reagan. Additionally, this crisis led to many
instances of racial discrimination toward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carter responded to the seizure of the embassy and the taking of hostages by applying diplomatic and
economic sanctions on Iran. Ten days after the start of the crisis, President Carter froze about $8
billion of Iranian assets. However, this did not rattle Khomeini, it empowered him. It was at this point
that it was realized that a solution to this crisis would be harder than anticipated. Ayatollah Khomeini
issued a set of demands in exchange for the hostages. First, the Shah must be returned to Iran to be put
on trial. Second, the U.S. needed to issue an apology for previous American actions, and third the U.S.
had to promise not to interfere in Iranian politics in the future. As expected, Carter did not comply
with these demands. He tried to work out diplomatic negotiations with Iran using a third party, but
those negotiations fell through (The Associated Press). President Carter was criticized heavily for not
doing more to resolve the Hostage Crisis. Since Carter saw that a diplomatic solution was not going to
come soon, he decided that the only way to solve the situation was by force. He employed a secret
operation known as Operation Eagle Claw. The plan was to land helicopters and planes outside of
Tehran, and then they would make their way to the embassy to rescue the hostages. However, the
mission was a complete failure; a dust storm caused a helicopter to crash into one of the planes, killing
eight service members.

Socialization In Toronto Essay
Toronto is a city in Ontario Canada. It is very close to New York and Michigan. As of 2017, Toronto s
population is 6,417,516. Toronto has been a city since 1793 and is 224 years old. Toronto has warm
summers averaging 70 degrees Fahrenheit and cold winters averaging 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Toronto
has many beautiful natural features such as ravines, woodlands, and the shoreline of Lake Iroquois.
Toronto is Canada s banking and distribution hot spot.
Toronto has the third largest public transit system after New York City and Mexico City. Toronto s
water treats, transmits, stores and distributes more than one billion liters of potable water daily which
it distributes through 6,000 km of water mains. Toronto community housing also provides citizens
with affordable housing that they might not have been able to afford.
Our futuristic elements are moving sidewalks and buses that hover using maglev technology. Our
cities will benefit from the moving sidewalks because they will enable people to get around the city
quickly. The hover buses will help people get around when it gets too cold for the moving sidewalks.

Political Participation Issue
The participation rates among citizens in politics tend to bend towards those with better
socioeconomic statuses, males of older age, and revolve around mostly white/Caucasian people (those
of European background.) This is due to popular sentiment, which is likely in relation to historical
development. The socioeconomic statuses are based on a person s education, income and occupation.
Meaning that the people with the most money, time and skills are most likely to participate in political
events. This tends to revolve around older people with higher education, time and higher income.
People with less socioeconomic status, which is a feature commonly associated with people of color,
are often those who are most in need of government aid to improve their daily lives. The historical
factors in comparison to this political participation issue, would be that white males were the first to
gain voting rights, leaving minorities (people of color and women) to not obtain this ability until
decades later. This factor influences our world today where the national sentiment of a man s
importance of voting is still emphasized. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Boulianne in an article written by John Wihbey it was observed that citizens who consume more news

Management of the Educational System
Education in Nigeria is the shared responsibility of the federal, state and local governments. The
Federal Ministry of Education plays a dominant role in regulating the education sector, engaging in
policy formation and ensuring quality control. However, the federal government is more directly
involved with tertiary education than it is with school education, which is largely the responsibility of
state (secondary) and local (primary) governments. The education sector is divided into three sub
sectors: basic (nine years), post basic/senior secondary (three years), and tertiary (four to seven years,
depending on the major or course of study). Education in Nigeria is provided by public and private
institutions. Education is placed on the concurrent legislative list in the 1999 constitution that provides
the legal framework for educational management in Nigeria. This implies that both Federal and State
governments have legislative jurisdiction and corresponding functional responsibilities with respect to
education. By this arrangement, a few functions are exclusively assigned to the Federal or State
government, most of the functions and responsibilities are in fact shared by the three tiers of
government. Statutorily, the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) is at the apex of the regulation and
management of education in the country and to discharge this mandate, the ministry is

African American Student Achievement Essay
When it comes to continuing education either in postsecondary education or as adult learners, there
are several options that students can choose from. Students can go to a public or private school. They
can attend a 4 year institution or they may decide to attend a community college. Most students who
attend a community college go there to obtain an associate degree, to complete some type of
certification, or before they matriculate to a 4 year institution. The cost of attendance to a community
college is cheaper than the attendance to a 4 year institution. Research states that African American
students graduation rates are less than any other group of students. Since this is an issue at 4 year
institutions, I wanted to review this perception at the community college level. In this article, I will
review and discuss the content of an article entitled, Calling Out the Elephant: An Examination of

Courtroom Testimony Essay
VICTIMIZED CHILDREN Herrgott 6
Courtroom testimony work to protect the child from having to physically appear in the courtroom, as
the setting may serve to be unfamiliar and terrifying, as the abuser may be present. A child s testimony
may be taken by a two way closed circuit television, or may occur pre trial. Therefore, the child is not
forced to be in the presence of the perpetrator, or before a courtroom filled with unfamiliar faces.
Confidentiality in child sexual abuse cases is crucial, as families value their privacy and would prefer
to begin the healing process away from the public s eye. Therefore, Code § 3509 demands that all
Court documents that include the name of the victim or witness must be stored in a secure area, and
are not to be disclosed to any individuals who are not involved in the case. With the identity of the
victim kept confidential, the needs of the child are met by a multi disciplinary child abuse team. Such
a team consists of dedicated professionals representing many facets of the government and private
sectors including police officers, prosecutors, medical professionals, caseworkers, and therapists (U.S
Department, 2017). Under Code § 3509, the team works side by side to prevent any additional trauma
from being inflicted upon the child, and may aid in the healing process further down the road. By
having such teams available to the victim and the victim s family, the legal process becomes a less of a
burden for the victim, and becomes oriented around the severe and swift punishment of the offender.
Once the verdict is delivered and the legal process is complete, victims of child sexual abuse are left
with a long and arduous road to healing. For those victims who did not report their exploitation as a
child, they may not receive the same help as they would have if the Court became involved. These
unreported survivors may grow older and believe that since the abuse occurred in their childhood, they
would rather not dig up the past and bring such trauma into the
VICTIMIZED CHILDREN Herrgott 7 light. Many victims may go through life with unresolved
emotional issues, and may never be able to form trusting and intimate relationships with

Growing Up Digital By John Seely Brown
Along with the advancement of technology and increasing access to the Internet, distance learning ,
especially web based learning has gained popularity and reached an unprecedented level in terms of
the number of students enrolled in a single course. These online courses, MOOC (Massive Open
Online Course) , threaten to overthrow the traditional mode of teaching and learning by offering free
and accessible higher level education to the general public regardless of the students background or
financial circumstances. However, MOOC has accumulated criticisms questioning its ability to deliver
quality education that can be compared to its counterpart in classrooms. In Growing Up Digital , John
Seely Brown offers many ways to examine the effectiveness of MOOC in relation to its comparability
to the traditional teaching in classrooms, and evaluate the possibility of replacing traditional teaching
with full online courses.
Today s kids are always multiprocessing and often using multiple digital devices in lectures. Studies
have shown that digital technologies were creating an easily distracted generation with short attention
spans . Although their short attention spans parallel that of top managers , this often causes students to
miss instructions by the speaker . With the lack of attention paid to the speaker, students would not
gain a deep and thorough understanding of the lectures, much less gaining necessary knowledge and
skills needed to be in a top manager s

They took love lightly and thought as something to bet. Everything they did seemed like steps for

as housewife. The plot centers on Nora Helmer s secret that she illegally borrowed money from

Sigmund Freud s Two Key Ideas About Religion
Freud had two key ideas about religion: firstly, that it was a collective neurosis a universal mental
illness that manifests itself in the form of obsessive rituals and was caused by sexual repression and
guilt and secondly, that it was all part of a phenomenon that he called wish fulfilment , whereby
believers would perceive God to possess all good qualities of mankind and yet none of the bad. Freud
s initial opinion, namely the Oedipus Complex, is split into two parts, the first of which is that religion
is due to the individual s experience of the Oedipus Complex. The Oedipus Complex, to Freud, was
the idea that a human s psychological development was all based around the libido, and that this desire
for sexual satisfaction would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, there are three key psychological needs that we possess as humans and God has been
created by humans in order to fulfil all three, the first of which is the need for protection against
external threats. Mankind is aware that it has no control over the natural world, which causes a feeling
of fear and helplessness. However, a supernatural God, such as the one most religions worship, would
be capable of offering protection against such events, and so Freud argued that religious believers
carry out ritualistic worship in order to feel as though they have some control over their God s
decisions about these natural disasters. The second idea in wish fulfilment is that we need protection
from our inner instincts; specifically, the sex instinct and the aggression instinct. Freud says that
religions come up with religious rules such as love thy neighbour in order to extend Platonic love to
everyone and so reduce the possibility of hostility. They then say that these rules are from God in
order to get people to follow them. The third part of Freud s wish fulfilment argument is that we crave
a father figure and an afterlife or, in other words, security. Religious believers look to God as an
authority figure and believe that he will reward those who do good in this life and will punish those
who do wrong. Due to the fact that most humans fear death, the afterlife has been created, in Freud s
eyes, as a way of relieving the fear surrounding

The Pros And Cons Of Quantum Leap
According to Asbhy (1999), revitalizaton defined as the change that implements in Quantum Leap,
that is a big leap that is not only including gradation or incremental, but straight to the target which
much different from the initial condition. In this case, revitalization on the traditional market means to
reactivate the traditional market which once was vital, but experience degredation. It can be a slum
traditional market with low infrastructure to modern market, or displacement to a better location. The
reactivation should be in a big scale such as renovationg thoroughly to improve every aspect from the

In revitalization, there are 3 stages:
1. Physical Intervention
This aspect is where phisycal aspect needs to be renovated because it is accordance to the public

political or social issue, there is always an obstruction that a country is striving to overcome. One of
the worldwide issues is ethnic cleansing and genocide. In particular, the South Sudanese civil war is
caused by differing opinions of ethnic groups and is leading to the attempt of genocide. Despite the
several laws under crimes against humanity opposing this practice, it still does not stop groups from
continuing this vile activity. South Sudan is in turmoil due to fighting between those with ethnic
differences, specifically the Dinka and the Nuer. These heinous crimes must be stopped before the
newly developed country, South Sudan, does not have an opportunity to flourish. This issue has been
common throughout history, varying in severity and affected ethnic groups. For instance, the countries
of Central Africa, Germany, Poland, Hungary and Myanmar have all been affected by this atrocity (
Fear of Genocide in the World s Newest Nation ; Keleman) . Two of the most globally recognized
instances of ethnic cleansing are the Armenian genocide from 1915 to 1920 and the Holocaust from
1933 to 1945. The current South Sudanese Civil War is between the President of South Sudan, Salva
Kiir, and the former Vice President, Riek Machar. The ethnic groups of the Dinka and Nuer are

Summary of Article Topic
In the article, Perceptions of Burnout, Its Prevention and Its Effect on Patient Care as Described by
Oncology Nurses in the Hospital Setting, Russell, (2016) gives a quantitative approach on the
thoughts of burnout nurses in clinical oncology registered nurses. Nurses that work oncology normally
do not take care of themselves due to the extensive care they give to their patients therefore run a high
risk of burnout that may lead to compassion fatigue, resentment and displeasure of their job. In burnt
out nurses, what is the perception on stress and compassion fatigue compared with decreased ability
for patient care?

Research tools used were: Maslach Burnout Inventory (HBI HSS) Human Services Survey which had
three categories of: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishments. The
investagator develpoed inpatient Oncology Nursing Questionnaire (IONQ) focused on the nurses
demographic information. It was also an interview that was able to collect additional variables and
information such as: how long the nurse worked at the hospital, status, shift they were on and if
whether overtime was a factor. Results of study When nurses realized that it was the care they were
given that could be causing or be part of the reason for burnout and compassion fatigue, they listened
for options. The findings indicated ways to prevent and decrease burnout and have alternate ways not
to reach the burnout nurse. Ways to prevent burnout that were discussed were: education, adequate
rest and sleep, self care and being able to be social out of work. Thirty five nurses believe

Stereotypes Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bleh Bleh Bleh What does the notorious bloodsucking Dracula have in common with the attractive
vampires that are shown in the movie Twilight? A lot actually, not only do they share the same name
of Vampire or Undead , they also share the same powers and needs. The vampire genre has gone a
long way, specifically with books like Bram Stoker s Dracula. It first started out as folklore and then it
turned into a popular topic of writing in early European culture. Bram Stoker then combined what he
could into one classic vampire that is widely known today. Even in today s modern generation, Bram
Stoker s widely known character Dracula continues to be used as the classic vampire that is an
example of a basis for the undead . In Bram Stoker s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clarson makes a point of talking about the fangs being sharp, proving that it is a way to identify a
vampire such as the Count. This continues to persist throughout the genre, a vampire has the need for
blood so it turns to a victim and takes advantage of them, while also turning the victim into a vampire
as well. This shows that Bram Stoker has successfully created a stereotype of fangs that are used to
feed off the blood of victims that continues through this genre. There is something about burning red
eyes of a blood hungry undead that just manages to stick with the whole vampire stereotypes. Despite
not knowing that it was dracula, Jonathan Harker had met up with Dracula and had taken a lot of
acknowledgement to the dark fire like eyes of the Count. Jonathan describes the scene of him meeting
the count for the first time, I could only see the gleam of a pair of very bright eyes, which seemed red
in the lamplight, as he turned to us (Stoker 10). This proves that the eyes are a first expression that
comes to Harkers mind when he first sees the Count. The stereotype of vampires having red eyes is
probably one of the most known stereotypes when it comes to the undead and the vampire genre. The
burning red eyes show a sense of character in the vampires, giving them an evil quality that strikes
fear into those who look into them. Another

EU was founded in 1957 with a goal to build a common market. To achieve this goal a close co

Epiphany In Greasy Lake
Most teenagers go through a phase in their lives where rules are irrelevant to them and they step out of
the social norm. During this phase, teenagers experiment with various illegal activities, such as
drinking, drugs, sex and hanging out with the wrong crowd. These experiences usually open up a
teenagers eyes and allows them to see and guide their future. The real question is, will the teenagers
learn from their mistakes in life, or continue down the same path? In the short story Greasy Lake, T.C.
Boyle introduces a group of male teenagers who go through this rebellious phase as I described above.
Right around the end of this short story, the characters have an epiphany during their experience at
Greasy Lake, which guides their route in life. The short story starts up with the protagonist stating it
was good to be bad. Notice he says was not is when he mentions how cool it must be to be bad. For
me, this part foreshadows the end state of this story. Because we later find out that the protagonist
changes his whole outlook of the lake and past decisions he has made in his life. But before we go into
changing life courses, let s go over being a bad boy. Throughout the story, the main character and his

Research Report On Emergency Management Essay
Research in Emergency Management
Research in Emergency Management is important in order to obtain the information needed to
continue improving processes in the future. Without this material, natural disasters and other events
will continue to ruin lives either by death or destruction. There are approaches to lessen the impact and
to recover quicker, and with research done correctly and thoroughly, these approaches can be put into
place sooner rather than later.
Within research in Emergency Management, there are different methods to obtain data that is
beneficial not only to the researcher, but the participants. These methods include experiments, surveys
and case studies. Inside each of these studies, there are many options on how to acquire the material
depending on the situation. How the information is broken down, whether it s quantitative or
qualitative can make a difference in the results, and will be explained after how to gather the data.
Finally, what to do with the results and who/how to present them is the last piece of conducting the
research in order to improve the process.
Different types of experiments are used during research in emergency management. In a classic
experiment, subjects are either people or animals and put into two arbitrary groups. These groups
consist of the experimental group and the control group according to van Thiel. (van Thiel, ).
Conducted in a research laboratory, the experiment group undergoes one test, while the control group

Testing the Accuracy of Eyewitnessed Accounts
The sole purpose of this experiment was to test the accuracy of eyewitness accounts. It was
hypothesized that more than 50% of the questions asked would be incorrect. The results fully support
the hypothesis. Out of the five questions that were asked, only one was answered correctly by both
participants. One of the major factors affecting the reliability of eyewitness testimony is reconstructive
memory. Reconstructive memory refers to the idea that the retrieval of memories does not occur in the
accurate form but rather as a recollection of memories involving a process of trying to reconstruct past
events, This idea was first produced by Sir Fredrick Bartlett where he suggested that certain pieces of
information is stored and when it time to recall it, the pieces are then reconstructed based on personal
interpretation. (McLeod, 2009) It is also believed that if new information is introduced after the event
but before the actual recalling of the event, then the newly introduced information would have
tremendous influence on what the person actually recalls. Therefore, memory can be regarded as
flexible in nature. Psychologist Elizabeth Loftus also explained the theory by saying that the
recollection of an event is placed into long term memory after which it is reconstructed because of
particular instances such as pictures, or life events that may remind the individual of an actual event
they may have experienced. The nature of questions asked can also spawn answers related

Dealing In The Poem By W. H. Auden
The Poem was written by W.H Auden and was written in 1936.
The title in itself has many connotations of sadness. The word Funeral is associated with someone
dying. The word blues on the other hand is a type of Jazz that often conveys sadness. By combining
the two, we can see that the author has cleverly manipulated the title into conveying sadness.
The poem opens energetically, with an intensely emphasized verb Stop, a start that also suggests an
ending. Certainly, much of the rest of the poem is similarly constructed on heavily accentuated verbs
of command. The attitude of the poem is highly imperative. The poet gives out orders, but the
instructions he issues suggest that he cannot believe that the death of the certain person has happened.

Death severs this connection, creating a shift in how life is perceived. The strength of this is in
contrast with the images of death, the funeral preparations, and how society thinks of mourning that
are in the previous stanzas. The last line of the third stanza and the fourth stanza speak to the perpetual
sense of loss that death has on the plane of living.
In the fourth stanza the poet s agony rings out even more passionately. Here he stresses that Nature
notice his grief, calling it to extinguish the stars and the moon and the sun and get rid of the ocean. He
desires the world to reflect the emptiness within him left by death. Human monuments to the dead will
not be adequate at best. There is no optimism at the end of the poem; the reader is left with the very
real and very hostile sense of the man s grief, since no end can be accomplished without the poet s

characters identities become more and more permanent and unchangeable. Soon Inez, Garcin, and
Estelle live in the hope that they will obtain the other s acceptance. These three characters cannot

other s interrogating eye, Garcin is unwillingly admitting his gradual loss of his vision of himself. He
is being engulfed by Inez s and Estelle s opinion of him. As soon as Garcin feels his essence and
individuality slipping away, he begins to rely on Estelle to cure his loneliness and to give him solidity.
He demands that Estelle give him her complete trust (Sartre 36) and constant love (Sartre 36). Garcin

History Of Immigration Reform
To prove my hypothesis, I find essential to analyze congressional behavior regarding specific local
and executive efforts to regulate immigration. This study will certainly find that as long as the
legislation proposals on immigration do not originate from the Congress, the lawmakers will always
manifest strong opposition. Despite a broad constitutional stipulation, the U.S. Supreme Court has
long granted Congress exclusive control over immigration (Tichenor, 2013). How Congress conducts

Protecting the Innocence; An Overview of The Catcher in the Rye During the nineteen fifties, as the
population of the United States hurdled in a whirlpool of amiss, a writer sought to conserve innocence
as teenagers move into adulthood. The change from their teenage years to adulthood made them
question religion, friendships, and fate. J. D. Salinger saw this as a potential pitfall for teens; therefore,
he adopts a unique writing style to which they can relate to. Sol and Miriam Salinger s son, Jerome
David Salinger, was born on January 1st, 1919 in New York ( Salinger ). Supported by her Jewish
husband, a successful meat and cheese importer, Miriam was able to raise Salinger and his two older
siblings in the fashionable apartment district of upper Manhattan (French). In 1934 Salinger attended
Valley Forge Military academy, where he grasped literature and began writing short stories (French).
In spite of later being drafted to be in the military during World War II, Salinger wrote numerous
works which inspired the lives of countless Americans. Through his use of point of view,
characterization, and symbolism, Salinger aims towards conserving teenagers innocence as they move
into adulthood in The Catcher in the Rye.
Holden, the teenage protagonist of the novel, experiences an ongoing battle with the adult world and

In contrast, water resources planners have often trivialized green water management in rain fed
agriculture (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green water management often comes in the form of effective
use of rainfall (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green Water management has great conservation potential.
For example, according to Liu, Zehnder, Yang (209), strengthening rainfall management could
possibly double or even quadruple maize yields in sub Saharan Africa. Rainwater harvesting is a
promising approach for green water management in the semiarid tropics of Asia and Africa (Liu,
Zehnder, Yang 2009). Experiments with rainwater harvesting increased yield by a factor of 2 to 3 in
Burkina Faso, Kenya, Niger, Sudan and Tanzania as compared to the current yield levels (Liu,
Zehnder, Yang 2009). Additional spending in many of the rain fed areas allowed more poor people to
rise above the poverty line than would be expected with investments in irrigation infrastructure (Liu,
Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green water management is not only limited to infrastructure and management
technologies, as biotechnological advances can also be helpful (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). For

of how to effectively deal with stress. The typical clinical setting of a SRNA consistently parallels the
conditions that define a stressful environment. Dr. William Halstead, the New York surgeon accredited
with popularizing regional anesthesia in the United States, used cocaine outside of the clinical setting
as a method of coping with the rigorous stressors of his career (McDonough, 1990). The stress
resulting from the SRNA education along with the DNP program can be a major source of
psychological stress for the SRNA. According to McDonough (1990), stress is an imbalance that seeks
to be relieved (p. 195). McDonough (1990) found that personalities and addictive tendencies of
individuals caused some individuals to abuse drugs. A survey was administered to 150 students to
assess addictive personality traits. Results indicated that anesthesia students had significantly higher
scores in excitement seeking behaviors. McDonough (1990) also suggested the creation of support
system to aid students in finding effective coping skills. Findings from this study provided the
anesthesia literature with insight into substance abuse among SRNAs. SRNAs develop various coping
mechanisms to relieve stressors. Kless (1989) studied the effectiveness of social support groups in

Essay on Christian Metaphors and Movies About War
Religion in Pop Culture
Final Essay
Platoon, directed by Oliver Stone, and Saving Private Ryan, directed by Steven Spielberg, are two
movies flush with Christian Symbolism. Both films feature scripture, Platoon opens with it, and in
Saving Private Ryan, there is a character that often quotes scripture. While there are some similarities
between the two movies, like having a Christ Figure, and a conflict between good and evil, there are
metaphors that make the films different from one another. Platoon features more complex metaphors,
and focuses on a power struggle between two characters that represent good and evil. The Metaphors
in Saving Private Ryan are obvious, and more focused on the lost returning home, then on a struggles

the Holocaust) for seemingly no other reason but to control the world. The Allied Forces become the
good, because they begin to liberate other countries, and people from Axis control. The power struggle
between the good forces and the evil forces becomes the backdrop for Captain Miller s Mission. The
General, who gives Miller his orders, could represent God, being as he is his world is considered law.
By extension, Millers mission represents God s will. Captain Miller eventually becomes the Christ
figure in the movie, leading the mission to its conclusion (Madvig). Millers mission is to save the lost
Private Ryan. Miller and his men must return the lost Ryan to his home . Ryan can be a symbol that
represents anyone who could be struggling with faith, or anyone who could be struggling against evil,
thus being lost. Home symbolizes different things, but in Christianity, returning home can mean going
to Heaven to live alongside Jesus, or finding faith, or finding Jesus. Ryan is lost in the middle of war
torn France, in the middle of the giant conflict between good and evil. As the movie progresses we see
other religious situations, and religious characters. Private Jackson (Barry Pepper) is the team s sniper,
and a good example. Jackson is as a Christian who wears a cross around his neck, and recites scripture
before he takes down a target. He is seen in the film reciting Psalm 144, and Psalm 25. There is a
scene early on in the movie, during the

How to organize a Cooperative?
Organizing a cooperative can be complex and simple. It requires an understanding of the basic needs
of the prospective cooperative members. It demands patience from the organizer who must make the
cooperative s long term goals and objectives, and its visions a real part of the members lives.
But it can be too easy because the Cooperative Code of the Philippines (RA 6938) has devised very
clear cut steps for the cooperative organizer and members. The following are the basic information

Slavery In African American History
Modern and historical forces combine to keep the racial hierarchy in the dominant cultures control.
Historically, slavery was diplomatically protected within our constitution safeguarding the control and
ownership of African Americans. The three fifths compromise written into the constitution in 1787,
safeguarded slaveowners by greatly increase the representation and political power of slave owning
states (Laws, 2017). Slavery was widespread within the southern states until the year of 1865, when
slavery and involuntary servitude were abolished, except for those duly convicted of a crime. Between
1866 and 1870, through congress a radical reconstruction era was executed ensuring guaranteed
freedom and civil rights to former slaves. These turn of events, incensed southern slave owners giving
rise to white Supremacy and the Ku Klux Klan. Such historical events and accounts help us

Medical Devices Are Needed For Modern Medicine
I. Introduction: Medical devices used generally in hospitals, are the articles used in treating health
related issues e.g., a disease in humans or in animals with the purpose of curing them from the health
problem. These medical devices are needed for modern medicine as they perform many patient
monitoring and management functions. Such medical device is called implantable if it is partially or
totally introduced into the human body or placed on the surface of the body. In recent years,
implantable medical devices have been advanced through developments in science and engineering, as
well as in microelectronics, and biotechnology. Implantable Medical Devices (IMDs) are mostly used
to monitor and help treat medical conditions. These include pacemakers, implantable cardiac
defibrillators (ICDs), neuro stimulators and drug delivery systems, which help in managing many
diseases [1] and thus provide substantial improvement in healthcare by saving innumerable lives.
They help to achieve the vision of pervasive healthcare that is used for identification, monitoring, and
treatment of patients. Therefore, these devices have already been deployed in the body of many
patients. The use of IMDs for monitoring is expected to be grown further in the future. In 2005, the
number of insulin pump users was nearly 245,000 and the growing rate that is expected for the insulin
pump market is 9% from 2009 to 2016 [15]. In [16], as reported by Hanna et al., there are 25 million

Comparing The Works Of Jacob And Wilhelm Grimm It is safe to say that you are the sort of individual who makes the best choice and makes a move or would you say you are the lethargic individual who gives others a chance to do the hard work for you? No matter what you classify yourself to be, life has its way if coming back arounding, giving people what they deserve. In the folktale ¨Frau Holle¨ by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm the author compares and contrast the characteristics and personalities of two sisters. When we are able to understand our opponent s way of thinking about business and doing business we can then understand how to approach a negotiation situation with them. In this exercise, we learned that it is difficult for us to adjust when it involves breaking or acting in a way opposite of what we are accustomed to. We also learned that although my classmates live in the same country as we do, their upbringings may have similarities to their origin country and will therefore help them to communicate and adjust to that country s norms and standards. We were surprised how we were able to stay in character although it was hard and it was surprising how people responded when they were unaware of your intentions and strategies. If we had to do this exercise again, what we can do is do more research on our opponents so that we would have an idea of what to expect in the negotiation table. • 7. International Law And International Legal Theory Since its beginning, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine has raised legal issues that get to the core of International Law and international legal theory. In particular, the debate among legal experts has focused on the question of secession, the right to self determination of people, and the respect of the territorial integrity of States. The main concern of the scholarship has been to identify the political and legal consequences of a secession of Ukraine s eastern territories and the possible violations of International Law that would occur in such a situation. A less investigated aspect of the conflict is the chance to find a legal solution to the hostilities, seeking to cease violence among the parties and to settle the dispute under the aegis of the UN. This goal may be achieved with the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces. The idea of a peacekeeping operation in Eastern Ukraine is advanced following the requests sent to the UN by the Ukrainian Government in the last two years. In particular, on 4 January 2016 the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN has called for a UN peacekeeping mission in the region of Donbas. Previously, on 14 April 2014 and on 23 February 2015, other two requests were filed for the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in the territory of Eastern Ukraine. Ten days after the start of the crisis, President Carter froze about $8 billion of Iranian assets. However, this did not rattle Khomeini, it empowered him. It was at this point that it was realized that a solution to this crisis would be harder than anticipated. Ayatollah Khomeini issued a set of demands in exchange for the hostages. First, the Shah must be returned to Iran to be put on trial. Second, the U.S. needed to issue an apology for previous American actions, and third the U.S. had to promise not to interfere in Iranian politics in the future. As expected, Carter did not comply with these demands. He tried to work out diplomatic negotiations with Iran using a third party, but those negotiations fell through (The Associated Press). President Carter was criticized heavily for not doing more to resolve the Hostage Crisis. Since Carter saw that a diplomatic solution was not going to come soon, he decided that the only way to solve the situation was by force. He employed a secret operation known as Operation Eagle Claw. The plan was to land helicopters and planes outside of Tehran, and then they would make their way to the embassy to rescue the hostages. However, the mission was a complete failure; a dust storm caused a helicopter to crash into one of the planes, killing eight service members. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Political Participation Issue The participation rates among citizens in politics tend to bend towards those with better socioeconomic statuses, males of older age, and revolve around mostly white/Caucasian people (those of European background.) This is due to popular sentiment, which is likely in relation to historical development. The socioeconomic statuses are based on a person s education, income and occupation. Meaning that the people with the most money, time and skills are most likely to participate in political events. This tends to revolve around older people with higher education, time and higher income. People with less socioeconomic status, which is a feature commonly associated with people of color, are often those who are most in need of government aid to improve their daily lives. The historical factors in comparison to this political participation issue, would be that white males were the first to gain voting rights, leaving minorities (people of color and women) to not obtain this ability until decades later. Students can go to a public or private school. They can attend a 4 year institution or they may decide to attend a community college. Most students who attend a community college go there to obtain an associate degree, to complete some type of certification, or before they matriculate to a 4 year institution. • 15. Courtroom Testimony Essay VICTIMIZED CHILDREN Herrgott 6 Courtroom testimony work to protect the child from having to physically appear in the courtroom, as the setting may serve to be unfamiliar and terrifying, as the abuser may be present. A child s testimony may be taken by a two way closed circuit television, or may occur pre trial. Therefore, the child is not forced to be in the presence of the perpetrator, or before a courtroom filled with unfamiliar faces. Confidentiality in child sexual abuse cases is crucial, as families value their privacy and would prefer to begin the healing process away from the public s eye. Therefore, Code § 3509 demands that all Court documents that include the name of the victim or witness must be stored in a secure area, and are not to be disclosed to any individuals who are not involved in the case. With the identity of the victim kept confidential, the needs of the child are met by a multi disciplinary child abuse team. Such a team consists of dedicated professionals representing many facets of the government and private sectors including police officers, prosecutors, medical professionals, caseworkers, and therapists (U.S Department, 2017). Under Code § 3509, the team works side by side to prevent any additional trauma from being inflicted upon the child, and may aid in the healing process further down the road. By having such teams available to the victim and the victim s family, the legal process becomes a less of a burden for the victim, and becomes oriented around the severe and swift punishment of the offender. Once the verdict is delivered and the legal process is complete, victims of child sexual abuse are left with a long and arduous road to healing. For those victims who did not report their exploitation as a child, they may not receive the same help as they would have if the Court became involved. These unreported survivors may grow older and believe that since the abuse occurred in their childhood, they would rather not dig up the past and bring such trauma into the VICTIMIZED CHILDREN Herrgott 7 light. However, MOOC has accumulated criticisms questioning its ability to deliver quality education that can be compared to its counterpart in classrooms. In Growing Up Digital , John Seely Brown offers many ways to examine the effectiveness of MOOC in relation to its comparability to the traditional teaching in classrooms, and evaluate the possibility of replacing traditional teaching with full online courses. Although their short attention spans parallel that of top managers , this often causes students to miss instructions by the speaker . • 18. Sigmund Freud s Two Key Ideas About Religion Freud had two key ideas about religion: firstly, that it was a collective neurosis a universal mental illness that manifests itself in the form of obsessive rituals and was caused by sexual repression and guilt and secondly, that it was all part of a phenomenon that he called wish fulfilment , whereby believers would perceive God to possess all good qualities of mankind and yet none of the bad. Freud s initial opinion, namely the Oedipus Complex, is split into two parts, the first of which is that religion is due to the individual s experience of the Oedipus Complex. The Oedipus Complex, to Freud, was the idea that a human s psychological development was all based around the libido, and that this desire for sexual satisfaction would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, there are three key psychological needs that we possess as humans and God has been created by humans in order to fulfil all three, the first of which is the need for protection against external threats. Mankind is aware that it has no control over the natural world, which causes a feeling of fear and helplessness. However, a supernatural God, such as the one most religions worship, would be capable of offering protection against such events, and so Freud argued that religious believers carry out ritualistic worship in order to feel as though they have some control over their God s decisions about these natural disasters. The second idea in wish fulfilment is that we need protection from our inner instincts; specifically, the sex instinct and the aggression instinct. Freud says that religions come up with religious rules such as love thy neighbour in order to extend Platonic love to everyone and so reduce the possibility of hostility. They then say that these rules are from God in order to get people to follow them. The third part of Freud s wish fulfilment argument is that we crave a father figure and an afterlife or, in other words, security. Religious believers look to God as an authority figure and believe that he will reward those who do good in this life and will punish those who do wrong. Due to the fact that most humans fear death, the afterlife has been created, in Freud s eyes, as a way of relieving the fear surrounding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This shows that Bram Stoker has successfully created a stereotype of fangs that are used to feed off the blood of victims that continues through this genre. There is something about burning red eyes of a blood hungry undead that just manages to stick with the whole vampire stereotypes. Despite not knowing that it was dracula, Jonathan Harker had met up with Dracula and had taken a lot of acknowledgement to the dark fire like eyes of the Count. Jonathan describes the scene of him meeting the count for the first time, I could only see the gleam of a pair of very bright eyes, which seemed red in the lamplight, as he turned to us (Stoker 10). The short story starts up with the protagonist stating it was good to be bad. Notice he says was not is when he mentions how cool it must be to be bad. For me, this part foreshadows the end state of this story. Because we later find out that the protagonist changes his whole outlook of the lake and past decisions he has made in his life. But before we go into changing life courses, let s go over being a bad boy. Throughout the story, the main character and his friends try to imitate what it is like to be a bad boy. Research Report On Emergency Management Essay Research in Emergency Management Research in Emergency Management is important in order to obtain the information needed to continue improving processes in the future. Without this material, natural disasters and other events will continue to ruin lives either by death or destruction. There are approaches to lessen the impact and to recover quicker, and with research done correctly and thoroughly, these approaches can be put into place sooner rather than later. Within research in Emergency Management, there are different methods to obtain data that is beneficial not only to the researcher, but the participants. These methods include experiments, surveys and case studies. Inside each of these studies, there are many options on how to acquire the material depending on the situation. How the information is broken down, whether it s quantitative or qualitative can make a difference in the results, and will be explained after how to gather the data. Finally, what to do with the results and who/how to present them is the last piece of conducting the research in order to improve the process. Different types of experiments are used during research in emergency management. In a classic experiment, subjects are either people or animals and put into two arbitrary groups. It was hypothesized that more than 50% of the questions asked would be incorrect. The results fully support the hypothesis. Out of the five questions that were asked, only one was answered correctly by both participants. One of the major factors affecting the reliability of eyewitness testimony is reconstructive memory. Reconstructive memory refers to the idea that the retrieval of memories does not occur in the accurate form but rather as a recollection of memories involving a process of trying to reconstruct past events, This idea was first produced by Sir Fredrick Bartlett where he suggested that certain pieces of information is stored and when it time to recall it, the pieces are then reconstructed based on personal interpretation. (McLeod, 2009) It is also believed that if new information is introduced after the event but before the actual recalling of the event, then the newly introduced information would have tremendous influence on what the person actually recalls. Therefore, memory can be regarded as flexible in nature. Psychologist Elizabeth Loftus also explained the theory by saying that the recollection of an event is placed into long term memory after which it is reconstructed because of particular instances such as pictures, or life events that may remind the individual of an actual event they may have experienced. • 34. Dealing In The Poem By W. H. Auden The Poem was written by W.H Auden and was written in 1936. The title in itself has many connotations of sadness. The word Funeral is associated with someone dying. The word blues on the other hand is a type of Jazz that often conveys sadness. By combining the two, we can see that the author has cleverly manipulated the title into conveying sadness. The poem opens energetically, with an intensely emphasized verb Stop, a start that also suggests an ending. Certainly, much of the rest of the poem is similarly constructed on heavily accentuated verbs of command. The attitude of the poem is highly imperative. The poet gives out orders, but the instructions he issues suggest that he cannot believe that the death of the certain person has happened. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the fourth stanza the poet s agony rings out even more passionately. He desires the world to reflect the emptiness within him left by death. Human monuments to the dead will not be adequate at best. Dusang English 3 AP 26 April 2015 Protecting the Innocence; An Overview of The Catcher in the Rye During the nineteen fifties, as the population of the United States hurdled in a whirlpool of amiss, a writer sought to conserve innocence as teenagers move into adulthood. The change from their teenage years to adulthood made them question religion, friendships, and fate. J. D. Salinger saw this as a potential pitfall for teens; therefore, he adopts a unique writing style to which they can relate to. Sol and Miriam Salinger s son, Jerome David Salinger, was born on January 1st, 1919 in New York ( Salinger ). In 1934 Salinger attended Valley Forge Military academy, where he grasped literature and began writing short stories (French). In spite of later being drafted to be in the military during World War II, Salinger wrote numerous works which inspired the lives of countless Americans. The typical clinical setting of a SRNA consistently parallels the conditions that define a stressful environment. Dr. William Halstead, the New York surgeon accredited with popularizing regional anesthesia in the United States, used cocaine outside of the clinical setting as a method of coping with the rigorous stressors of his career (McDonough, 1990). These medical devices are needed for modern medicine as they perform many patient monitoring and management functions. Such medical device is called implantable if it is partially or totally introduced into the human body or placed on the surface of the body. In recent years, implantable medical devices have been advanced through developments in science and engineering, as well as in microelectronics, and biotechnology.
