The Human Eyes Of Primates
Sclera
One of the most variable aspects of the eyes in primates is the sclera. The sclera in primates comes in
multiple different pigments and SSI as seen in figure 2. In research on human eyes, evidence
concludes that through the sclera, health, age and emotion can be detected; redden or yellow sclera
detects decreased health, increased age, and even emotions of sadness or irritation, whereas bright
white sclera represents increased overall health [4]. The true purpose for the evolution of the sclera is
not completely clear, but many implications can be made to help researchers better understand the
complex evolution of the eye. One of the major topics for research on the eye is the discovery that the
purpose of the white sclera is to amplify gaze direction whereas the darker colored sclera is to do the
opposite; hide gaze direction from predators [5]. Not only can the sclera help detect emotion and gaze
but is a major factor in the evolution of communication between primates.
The majority of organisms that fall into the category of primates tend to live in relatively large group
size and work together within their habitats to increase the overall survival rate. There are multiple
benefits of living in larger groups which include increased genetic diversity, increased protection from
predators and even more opportunity for developing learning strategies [7]. On the other hand,
animals living in smaller groups do not necessarily have as much completion for resources or

Dead Poet Society
The Review Dead Poet Society (Weir, 1989) is a movie about a shy teenager named Todd Anderson,
who has to live up to his older overachiever brother s reputation. Todd goes on to attend the same
school where his brother graduated as a valedictorian The Welton Academy for boys. The semester
begins with an orientation assembly speech from the unyielding Headmaster Nolan, who highlights
the academy s four pillars: Tradition, Discipline, Excellence and Honor. Todd meets Neil, his
roommate. Later on, both teenagers find out that they are both living a similar situation involving the
constant pressure from their parents to succeed. Following, the teenagers get to meet their
conventional teachers. However, they also met a teacher whose teaching method ... Show more

The Bible teaches us in Matthew 6:33, To seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all
these things will be added to you English Standard Version. This is true for me because as a coach I
need to believe genuinely in my client s vision, just as God believed in me when He gave his only son
to die for our sins. God s genuine act of selflessness is a reminder that we as well, should carry on that
message to those we come across in this lifetime. The movie was truly inspirational in all aspects of
the word. I would not modify anything in this movie. I will integrate what I learned from this movie to
help my clients through the transformational process, but more importantly, to help them believe in
themselves in order for them to take charge of their lives. The most valuable lesson I took from this
film was that we should believe in ourselves just as God believe in us. Perhaps the biggest lesson I
took away from this movie is that believing in ourselves regardless of what other people think is
necessary for a long term

Three Generic Strategies Essay
To attain competitive gain, organisations can differentiate their merchandise and services from their
competitors they can also choose to lower their costs in order to compete with other contenders. By
aiming their produces to a wide ranging target, they are essentially covering most of the marketplace
or if they choose, they can decide to concentrate on a narrower target within the market (Lynch 2003).
While doing so may reduce their market range it essentially reduces their other competitors. Porter
stated that there are three generic strategies that an organisation can follow to achieve competitive
gain over other organisations. These are: 1) Cost Leadership 2) Differentiation 3) Focus Cost
Leadership The organizations that endeavour to wind up the least cost makers in an industry can be
alluded to as those taking after a low cost procedure. The organization with the least expenses would
gain the most elevated benefits in the occasion when the contending items are basically
undifferentiated, and offering at a standard business market cost. Organizations taking after this
methodology place accentuation on cost diminishment in each action in the value chain. Note that an
organization may be a cost pioneer however that does not inexorably infer that the organization s
items would have a low cost. In specific occurrences, the organization can for occasion charge a
normal cost while applying the low cost leadership strategy and put the earnings made back into the
business

Summary Of The Noble Treason
For my book review I read the book, A Noble Treason written by Richard Hanser. The Noble Treason
is about Sophie Scholl and the White Rose Revolt against Adolf Hitler. Taking place in 1942, Sophie
Scholl and her older brother Hans were bright, young university students in Munich University in
Germany. They had once been passionate supporters of the German renewal promised by National
Socialism, as members of the Hitler Youth. But as their comprehension of Nazi barbarism grew, so did
their moral outrage towards Adolf Hitler. In result, Sophie and Hans Scholl formed a small group of
like minded friends, which originally included a student of philosophy, two medical students, and a
fifty year old professor. They were all identified as Christians from ... Show more content on

He was meaning to show everyone that they are all equal and that every single one is the same no
matter their differences. In my opinion, this true story showed determination and willpower because
The White Rose was persisting in making their country better, not only for themselves but for future
generations. They risked their lives not caring if they broke the law. They knew that Adolf Hitler was
afraid of anyone corrupting the influence that he had over the people. In addition, I believe that he
wanted to recall that even in the harshest times, people can still have hope and stand up for
themselves. For instance, The White Rose changed many perspectives of others by simply publishing
six leaflets which exposed Hitler s cruel ways. He wanted to emphasize and teach others that everyone
has the freedom to think for themselves. Nobody should force one another what to do or what to think
because it is their choice whether or not do will or will not do

IKEA has also used extensive manual work in its planning processes and the planning was based on
fragmented and unreliable Planning information. Hence, there was a lack of trust between different
parts of the supply chain, which even further have enhanced the bullwhip effects in the IKEA supply
chain. Other problems related to the supply chain performance was difficulties to get enough attention
of data maintenance, the lack of proper follow up tools to monitor forecast deviations, hard to change
mindsets among users, no synchronization of order and stock data, to name but a few. To overcome
the difficult situation, IKEA initiated a program (cluster of projects) aiming to taking better control of
its supply chain, and enhance performance in terms of delivery service and costs. A new global
planning concept was developed and is currently being implemented. Its cornerstones are mutually
integrated planning processes, a centralized planning organization, focus on data quality and use of
advanced software support. GROWTH AND PROFITABILITY Global sales in Fiscal Year 2011 were

The Kansas Nebraska Act
In 1854, the argument over slavery appeared in Congress again when Stephen A. Douglas introduced
the Compromise of 1850. Kansas and Nebraska would become free states because of where they are
located, north of 36 30 N latitude. If they both became free states, the balance would be broken.
Douglas knew southerners would object to this so he let the people in each territory vote on it to be a
free or slave state so he introduced the Kansas Nebraska Act. This is called popular sovereignty when
the people get to decide on an issue. As a result, Northerners protested. This caused even more tension
before the Civil War would begin. The Kansas Nebraska Act would allow slavery into

Girl Model And Documentary Argument
Girl Model and Documentary as Argument Documentaries occupy a unique space in the film world.
Not only must these films attempt to provide a perspective on reality, they must also engage the
audience and provide a form of entertainment. In portraying reality, the films generally take on a
specific perspective. Documentary filmmakers create a film advocating a specific point of view in
order to create interest in the film and create a stronger film overall. Bill Nichols calls this the
documentary s argument (165). He states, [I]n documentary, realism serves to make an argument about
the historical world seem persuasive (Nichols 165). Persuading the audience is vital in films pertaining
to social issues such as defining and examining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the focus on Nadya and Ashley, the audience does not gain much information about the
companies who recruit and represent the models or the people who work with Nadya and Ashley.
Throughout the film, the audience does view interactions between Nadya and Ashley and the people
they work for, but there is very little emphasis placed on the other people depicted. There is some
focus on Ashley s supervisors and employers, but the focus is often negative. At one point, the
filmmaker includes an interview with Ashley where she mentions that she believes Messiah, the owner
of one of the agencies she scouts for, continues his job because he engages in inappropriate
relationships with the young models he recruits. Ashley states, [Messiah] loves models (Girl). She
never openly states that Messiah has relationships with his models, but the implication is clear.
Although this claim never goes farther, Ashley clearly connects the industry to the sex trade. Towards
the end of the film, Ashley addresses this point in another interview. She claims that some models find
themselves moving into prostitution. Ashley states that the girls already see themselves selling their
body for the camera, so they do not find prostitution a stretch (Girl). Including this interview near the
end of the film leaves the viewer with a lasting sense of unease about the

Analysis Of Mise En Scene In The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari
A scene analysis of Cesare s awakening
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Robert Wiene
In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Robert Wiene cleverly uses mise en scene and cinematography to add
to the eeriness and originality in the scene of Cesare s awakening. The scene is important to the
overall film because it instills the viewer to believe that there will be a connoting between Cesare and
Alan. The purpose can be seen in the reverse shot sequence at the end of the scene in the dialogue
How long do I have to live? Till dawn tomorrow. The scene is based highly on use of expressionistic
credit design and stylization of acting through exaggerations. Through the theatrical design set, Robert
Wiene builds tension and drama to the scene and draws the views attention to the constructed nature
of the film.
The awakening scene in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is filmed in a theatrical manner, where the set is
on a stage, with distorted curtains and secretive shadows. The scene is carefully centered in the middle
to make the viewer less distracted of movement within the frame. The stage curtains work in favor of
the framing and like the clever set; the costume and makeup fit the bizarre arrangement and design of
the scene. The men in the audience are all dressed in gloomy and flowing long cloaks. To accentuate
Cesare s tall and lanky figure he is dressed in a fitting black leotard and his dark character is obscure
in darkness. His dead like face is covered thickly in heavy make up and his expression is as a warning
to the viewer. Caligari, on the other hand, has an eccentric look with crazy white hair and glasses.
When looking at the understanding of the inner frame in the scene, Cesare s expressive actions
contribute significantly. The state of trance is revealed by his sleek figure and androgynous
appearance in contrast to the other characters that are moving unusually quickly. By repeated close
ups of Cesare s hypnotic expression and tranquil figure forces the viewer to identify with him and
allows us to understand that he is restrained to react only from Dr. Caligari s commands. Cesare is
shot from a high angle ushering the viewer to join into his shocking state. The close up of Cesare s
exaggerated dark eyes, pallid

Description Of Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple Sclerosis:
Multiple Sclerosis; also known as MS, is a chronic and degenerative disease that affects the central
nervous system. It is a disease in which the body is attacking its own myelin as if it was a foreign
substance. This disease is currently affecting about 2.3 million people in the world (Tran, 2014).
History of disease:
Multiple sclerosis has existed long before it had a name, just like many other diseases. In 1838, Dr.
Jean Martin Charcot became the first person credited with identifying multiple sclerosis as a disease.
Charcot was a French scientist and physician who is claimed to be the founder of modern neurology. A
female patient of his suffered an unusual combination of symptoms and he tried some of the typical
treatments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before treatment is possible, it s important to get a proper diagnosis from a doctor. When symptoms fit
the criteria for MS and neurological exams and MRI results show the abnormalities, a proper
diagnosis can be formed. Nutritional therapy is very important for the patient as it gives the patient a
low fat diet to follow to help slow down any progression of the disease. Any type of exercise is
beneficial for MS patients, as well as movement therapy. For patients that are too weak for exercise,
other options such as yoga or water aerobics would be helpful. Aromatherapy would also be very
beneficial where the patient s body can be massaged with essential oils to treat affected areas. It s
important for the patients to do research on the type of treatment that they would prefer to help
become more confortable (Tran, 2014). As well as exercise, it s important to change your diet in
correlation with new medications that the patient would be receiving. Medications such as Avonex has
been seen to help limit the progress of an disabilities from episodes, Betaseron also helped some
patients with reducing the number and severity of relapses (Tran, 2014). All drugs are administered by
injection, and also have significant side effects, which is why it is important to do research to figure

Good Journalism and Citizenship
The world is a hectic mess today. News is happening all around us, and the only source that acts as a
filter between the chaos and ourselves is the media. The media, journalists especially, must hold upon
themselves a great responsibility when they are acting as this filtering apparatus between the ordered
and unordered. But is that the only thing journalism does: make sense of the news? No, it does much
more than that. Good journalism is working, with help from the citizenry, to create an enlightened
Republic filled with citizens who will be well informed of the events which intersect their lives. There
are a number of measures, though, that journalists must take before they can go from simply making
sense of the news to creating an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And this is not only a discussion between citizens and citizens or leaders and leaders but rather
between citizens and leaders; the press simply acts as a medium. Justice Douglas wrote in New York
Times Co. v. United States that [o]pen debate and discussion of public issues are vital to our national
health. On public questions there should be uninhibited, robust, and wide open debate. Although
debate and discussion are vital to the Republic, maybe society should rethink about how uninhibited,
robust, and wide open those debates really are. Society today tends to think of debates as two
opposing ideas battling each other out in order to ascertain which idea comes out in first, and, as
Kovach and Rosenstiel point out, a debate focused only on the extremes of argument does not serve
the public but instead leaves most citizens out (167). The problem with this is that there are not only
one or two given positions on any given issue, but there are many positions. In the debates that go on
today, those positions which are often left out are often those which are also most agreeable with each
other. So instead of letting debates focus only on the extremes, [t]he public forum must include the
broad areas of agreement, where most of the public resides and where the solutions to society s
problems are found (Kovach and Rosenstiel 167). And since it is the news media which

The Importance Of The Government Watching Us

interprets that watching the public will prevent and stop many attacks on our country. Many other
individuals argue that this is an invasion of our privacy and basic freedom. The government watches us
through security cameras, our cellphones, computers, tablets, and even televisions; they also track our
emails, texts, phone calls, and social media. Since Edward Snowden, a former CIA agent, leaked
classified information from the NSA without authorization; this topic has been very popular and there
have been many interpretations of it. The government watching us is not bad at all if we have nothing
to hide. If someone has nothing to hide then they should not oppose the government watching us.

There are comments that were being made by Trump that have made matters worse. He needs to try to

An Effective Compensation Structure Of Employees Essay
Overview Organizations spend a great deal of time and resources in developing an effective
compensation structure one that is lawful, aligns with the strategy and objectives of the business itself,
is externally competitive and can recruit and retain talented employees. However, not all positions will
fall into this meticulously composed pay structure. There are groups of employees who will fall
outside of the scale used for everyone else, with compensation packages seemingly at odds with what
everyone else receives (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2016, p. 502). Executives are one such group of
employees specifically senior level executives, or CEOs. The computation of compensation CEOs
receive does not follow the same process as that of other positions. As such, the compensation
practices for senior level executives have come under fire (Milkovich, et al., p. 504). There are many
opponents to current executive compensation levels in our economy, many of whom cite the
multimillion dollar total compensation received by some Fortune 500 executives compared to average
worker pay levels (AFL CIO, 2014). However, there are also proponents of executive compensation
who believe that the inherent risk involved in these positions, in addition to market variables and job
duties and responsibilities warrant the, sometimes confounding, compensation figures (Kaplan, 2008).
This paper sets out to examine these arguments to determine if CEOs are over compensated in our
economy.

The Theme Of Love And Love In William Shakespeare s Romeo...
Juliet just faked her death and everyone found her. Friar Laurence speaks about his opinion on what
had happened. The author, William Shakespeare, uses Friar Laurence because he s wise and everyone
trusts him. The way he expresses his feelings toward the event that s taking place, can sometimes
leave the reader feeling indifferent and in view. In the play Romeo and Juliet , Shakespeare uses Friar
Laurence s descriptive language to contrast the ideas of life with death and joy with sorrow to Romeo
and Juliet s love and the relationship between Juliet and her parents. Throughout the story many
emotions are being played with. However, joy and sorrow are the biggest emotions played by all the
characters at least once during the play. Juliet bounces between these emotions when she talks to her
parents, to when she s talking to Romeo or even the nurse. Friar Laurence (when speaking after Juliet
s fake death) mentions She is not well married that lives married long,/ But she s best married that dies
married young (39). He was trying to get the point across that if Capulet forced Juliet to marry Paris,
she would ve lived a longer life but she wouldn t have been filled with joy, wouldn t live her live to
the fullest and how she would want to. Even though the Capulets lost Juliet, she died happy knowing
that she would get to be with Romeo at the end. Juliet chose who she wanted to marry, made the most
of it, and did whatever it took to make sure they were always together. To

Essay On The Center For Life Science In Boston
The construction of The Center for Life Science in Boston was completed in 2008 and a year later in
April 2009 it was awarded LEED Gold certification as part of the LEED BD+C (Building Design and
Construction) Core and Shell v1.0 pilot scheme (usgbc.org, n.d.). The development was designed by
Tsoi/Kobus Associates, Boston, and developed by Lyme Properties, Hanover, N.H., and BioMed

The design incorporated 18 floors, outside the traditional building codes that typically limit the use of

for Life Science | Boston was not only unique in the fact that concept was far from traditional
construction, but also because no one on the 2001 project team had ever worked on a project looking
to achieve LEED certification in an existing, congested developed area (Schneider, 2009). The project
team was composed of unique positions in order to enhance the likelihood of project success, with the
building s architecture playing a key role in overall LEED concepts and a specific Sustainable Design
Coordinator being employed by Tsoi/Kobus Associates (Schneider, 2009). The project was noted as
being many pieces of a puzzle that the Architect and Developer arranged and rearranged in various
combinations prior to the final layout confirmation (Schneider, 2009), which highlights the agile
approach to the design phase of the project. The integrated, sustainable design approach took a holistic
approach to the building as a whole, not simply independent, individual parts, thus allowing the team
to find resolutions to the many project challenges with specific collaborated and targeted solutions

Research Paper On Jean Valjean
There were many candidates for my essays subject. I considered Jean Valjean, for we both put others
ahead of ourselves. Marius was another candidate. He and I both have unpopular political views and
have a tendency to rebel. However, I think the best choice for the essay is Javert. He was the very
bottom of my list, but crawled his way to the top. As I read more about his character, it became more
and more apparent that he was who I needed to write about. Of all the characters, I am most like
Javert.
Javert is portrayed throughout the story as animalistic. He values the law and justice above all else. He

suspected you unjustly. That is nothing. It is our right to cherish suspicion, although suspicion directed
above ourselves is an abuse. But without proofs, in a fit of rage, with the object of wreaking my
vengeance, I have denounced you as a convict, you, a respectable man, a mayor, a magistrate! That is

rural New Hampshire, during World War II, particularly 1942 1943. There are many qualities that
appear in Devon School. However, there are many qualities that appear in Princeton High School as
well. There are many similarities and differences between the two schools, Devon and Princeton. Both
of the schools have student bodies, faculty, academic courses, buildings and grounds, and attitudes
towards sports, that are all comparable and contrastable. Therefore, the schools have similarities, but
the differences from one another are what make them unique. The student body is a large part of what
gives both Devon and Princeton High school their character. Devon s ... Show more content on

Devon s buildings and grounds are like an archipelago. The design of Devon consists of many
different buildings that are all connected by sidewalks. The buildings at Devon contain basic
necessities for a school, for example The gym was at the other end of the school, a quarter of a mile
away at least,.. (104). In addition, Devon s campus contained the Far Common, First Academy
Building, Center Common, and Field House. Devon also has woods and rivers near its location, due to
its rural position. However, Princeton High School s buildings and grounds consist of one large
building, and one workshop. All of the classes that Devon acquired, and more, are all contained in the
two buildings at Princeton. Similarly, Princeton and Devon both contain playing fields and tennis
courts.
Devon and Princeton High School both have a particular attitude towards sports. Essentially, Devon
doesn t have many choices for athletics, that s why they make up their own. For example, in A
Separate Peace, Now this, you see, is everything in the world you need for sports. When they
discovered the circle they created sports. As for this thing (28).

Anti Semitism By Philip Roth Essay
Anti Semitism Jewish Writers
The experience of the Jewish family in the United States over the past century has been one of
acculturation and accommodation to the norms and the values of America society. At the same time,
Anti Semitism in America reached its peak during the interwar period between 1940s and 1960s. At
that time, the Jewish Anti Semitism appeared as a phenomenon of the Depression and the 1940s.
Almost all of the Jewish American writers simply presented realistic portrayals of their fellow
immigrants or their parents generation. Later, some other Americans, partial to Anti Semitism, found
confirmation of negative stereotypes in the new Jewish American Literature. Indeed, some parent
hating or self hating Jewish American writers of the second or the third generation, living now in the
bounty of American affluence, consciously reinforced negative stereotypes with satire and a selective
realism. Philip Roth, whose portrayal of the tensions between these figures borders on self hatred and
an almost Anti Semitic view of the Jewish family in America, is a great example of these
phenomenon.
In his book, Portnoy s Complaint, Roth touched on the assimilation experiences of American Jews,
their relationship to Israeli Jews, and his experience as inherent in being the son of a Jewish family. As
a second generation Jewish writer, he chose to show the stereotypes and discrimination that he faced
through Alex Portnoy. Portnoy was raised by Jewish parents who were very

Nt1310 Section 2 Section 3
Section III A explains how the keyboard works while section III B describes the main iterations that
led to the keyboard s final version. In section III C, some of the user interface design principles that
helped to fine tune the keyboard design are mentioned.
A. How Does It Work
The keyboard works like text entry keyboards, however, instead of inputting letters it inputs blocks.
Each key inputs a block or changes a field. Version 3 in figure 1 shows the current layout of the
keyboard. Once a block is inserted, the keyboard selects and highlights the first unoccupied input
connector. The arrow keys allow navigating the blocks through their connectors by highlighting them.
The keyboard s keys will be enabled or disabled according to the highlighted ... Show more content on

Just like many keyboard designs that utilize the letter or word frequencies to layout their keys, we
want to utilize the blocks frequencies. To accomplish this, we looked for Blockly programs sources.
Code Studio, a website offering online courses created by Code.org, is used by millions of students
[14]. It relies heavily on Blockly to teach programming concepts. Therefore, we choose it as a
reference for Blockly programs. We counted the frequency of each block that was asked to be input in
all the offered activities. However, if the activity asks the users to input less than 10 blocks we did not
include that activity in the statistics. We chose not to include such activities because they have few
blocks that do not represent a common block base program. Commonly, an activity with few blocks
just teaches how to input blocks rather than teaching programming concepts or problems solving. This
left us with 47 Blockly programs from courses 2,3, and 4. We found that the average input task
consists of 19 blocks. Table I shows the frequency of block types. The Code Studio activities did not
ask the students to input all the block types in Blockly as can be noticed from the

Compare And Contrast Rear Window
In both the movie, Rear Window, and the short story, It had to be Murder, there are numerous
similarities and differences that are noticed. Overall it is a story of a man that is wheelchair bound at
home who passes time by people watching. When people watching, the man named Jeff notices
unusual things taking place in a neighbors apartment. The neighbor named Mr. Thorwald has an ill
wife at home that is bed bound. The narrator Jeff one day realises that the wife Ann, is no longer in
bed and that Mr. Thorwald was beginning to act unusual.A big similarity in the movie and the story is
that Jeff is convinced that Mr. Thorwald murdered his sick wife. In both the movie and story jeff tries
to convince himself, and his friend thats a detective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is when Mr.Thorwald breaks into the main character Jeff s apartment and tries to
attack him. In the short story Thorwald catches on eventually to who knows about his crime, finds out
where Jeff lives, quietly breaks into his home and tries to shoot Jeff. This was very intense and
suspense full because from Jeffs point of view we did not know who was breaking into the house, and
what they would do, He d be up in a minute. He must be on the stairs now, although I couldn t hear
him. Not even a creak. A creak would have been a reliec, would have placed him. This was like being
shut up in the dark with the silence of a gliding, coiling cobra somewhere around you (Hitchcock,
1954). Because we did not know who the invader was and what weapon they could of had, we did not
know if the bust would protect him. This tension was executed slightly different in the movie. In the
movie, we see the man walk up the stairs, we are not aware of a weapon but once thorwald breaks in
and starts to yell at jeff we see that there is not gun. Jeff in this situation chooses to protect himself by
using his camera flash to stun the man (Woolrich, n.d.). This approach seems as if it will not protect
him just like the bust in the movie and we go throughout the scene tense, hoping it will buy jeff time
or protect him

Pollution And Redemption In Dracula, By Anne Mcwhir
Pollution and Redemption in Dracula, written by Anne McWhir, a Professor Emerita at the University
of Calgary, analyzes the complex relationships between characters of Bram Stoker s, Dracula.
McWhir acknowledges seemingly opposing themes within Dracula, Dracula is remarkable for its
blurring and confusion of categories. Modem and primitive, civilized and savage, science and myth
are confused; so too are other categories good and evil, clean and unclean, life and death (31). She
explains the purpose of hunting Count Dracula is to restore the characters, giving them a chance at
redemption, The pollution or dangerous power that disappears at the end of Dracula means that the
characters can return to a world of clear categories and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dracula is a proud of his lineage. His blood is noble among gypies (criminals) but when placed in
comparison to the elite of England, he is considered primitive, ...Dracula s criminality dominates over
his noble blood: science assimilates him to a lower type, associating him with animals and inferior
human groups (McWhir 34).
By the end of Dracula, the younger characters return to clear and defined statuses; Lucy is at peace in
her true death, Dr. Seward and Holmwood (Godalming) are married to other women, Mina and Mr.
Harker have been ushered into adulthood by becoming parents. They decided to name their child,
Quincey (McWhir 35). McWhir explains, Quincey Morris, wounded in the act of destroying Dracula,
dies a hero s death, reminding us that the dangers have not been mere dreams and mad fantasies and
showing us through his central role in a ritual of purification that blood is substance as well as symbol
(35).
The defined social categories that the characters wish to achieve can only be possessed by recognizing
their opposing forces. Anne McWhir concludes that the road to purification for Mina requires a blood
sacrifice, sanity cannot exist without recognizing madness, and the danger of and dependence on
foreigners (Dracula and Van

When business do not understand the mind of their target audience they do not generate the type of
responses they initially hoped. The psychological reasons why people comfort themselves when
buying products they don t need is often overlooked. Many American feel they need things but in
reality they just want them. Consumers will go into debt to buy an item they want to personally have.
The joy of seeing it in the house or having friends see them with it is worth it all for them. So many
consumers feel a great sense of comfort in consumer goods that are popular or in demand because they
feel like they can do or have things that others cannot.
Social Processes on Marketing Behavior
Most consumers reasons for buying goods are because friends or family may want them or have them
already. Consumers have said that the reason for buying products is because of someone they know
really wants the product or they want to be the first of the group to have it. This provides a great sense
of gratitude and joy for the consumer group to know that they were the first to have the product. This
brings out the competitive trait in the consumer. Many will go out of their way to get things others
want just so that they can be envied. This makes them feel like a leader or trend setter to the group.
The approval of products from friends, family or people in general plays a strong role in

Psychoactive Drugs Affects The Body
Psychoactive drugs are a substance that change and affect the consciousness, mood, behavior of the
person taking these drugs. The powerful effect that psychoactive drugs have on the brain is caused by
the chemicals in these substances that can replicate the chemicals found in the brain. These chemicals
are designed to be able to imitate the functions of chemicals in the brain; they act primarily in the
central nervous system affecting the neurons in the brain. There is an interruption in communication of
neurons which affects our bodies in different ways; some can stimulate activity in the CNS, while
others can depress and decrease the activity. There are many different types of drugs that can change
the brain chemistry in this way, two of these are narcotics and stimulants. Psychoactive drugs change
the way people that take them feel about things, narcotics in particular change the way people feel
about pain being that this substance is used to relieve pain. This opiate is highly proficient in relieving

Stimulants, such as coffee can safely be used to create a sense of awareness and alertness, helping
people stay awake to study and work. That would be an example of a legal way to use stimulants; yet,
there are also illegal stimulants such as, ecstasy and methamphetamines that many people abuse. The
adverse effects of abusing these substances repeatedly can lead to feelings of hostility and paranoia,
which can ultimately cause the person to make impulsive decisions. The damage that stimulants do to
the health of someone abusing the drug can be destructive because it can become addictive and may
result in an irregular heartbeat or also the case of dangerously high

Iran Political Dynamic Essay
The Iranian Political Dynamic
One of the misconceptions of modernization was that societies would secularize as they modernized.
This formed the tenets of post war modernization theories. Notably, the end of world war two was
characterized by the decline of religious faiths and secularization of societies, especially in Britain and
America. This paradigm fitted the idea of development and breaking free from the yoke of poverty,
hunger, diseases and other social problems. As such, it was believed that progress would only be
achieved at the expense of religion. However, over the past decades, countries such as the Islamic
Republic of Iran have evolved into industrialized economies with religion at the heart of their growth .
It has, therefore, become a point of studies on religious fundamentalism.
The Iranian revolution of 1978 to 1980 changed Iran s political system. The Iranian political system is
based on an agglomeration of politics and religion. The head of this unique political system is the
supreme religious leader: the Ayatollah. Notably, the Shite clergy rule over Iran and as such, it
embodies the absolute supremacy of Islam. The political system is also a fusion of theocracy and
democracy. On one end, it limits pluralism and on the other it allows election of leaders through a
public general election. The constitution of Iran allows popular sovereignty and blend it with the rule
of jurisconsults. In this respect, institutions are governed by the clergy, while

This would be the women who does the household duties, very submissive, illiterate and is portraits as

song, she has mouth like wine , and is very curvaceous and is called sweet thing (Four women). The
stereotype is the Renegade, angry loud, tends to emasculate men, and also referred to as sassy
mammy. In the song she was called Peaches, awfully bitter

Amish Demographic Report
Descriptive epidemiology focus on how a disease is spread within a population. This can be done in
three different approaches such as counts, case series, and cross sectional studies. The observation of
the Amish population in Lancaster, PA favors the application of the cross sectional method of
descriptive epidemiology.
Analyzing the population health in the Amish group requires some understanding of the Amish people.
It is a special population where their perspectives on health is shaped by their religious beliefs and
cultures. The Amish settled in four counties in Pennsylvania with an estimate of 44, 106 people were
approximately 35,000 reside in Lancaster county. Their beliefs and values rooted from the bible which
resulted in living a life of self surrender, submission, yielding to the will of God and to others,
contentment, and a calm spirit . To date the Amish don t use electricity, don t own a personal car, don t
use public transportation except for major reason. Formal education stops at eight grade; very few

page the Amish society accepts responsibility for their own actions and chooses not to depend on
services offered by the state. For example, Amish communities opt out of the government funded
insurance, including the Affordable Care Act. This Act allows employees of large companies to
acquire health insurance and allows insurance options for low income individuals and families. As a
result, this society thrives on helping each other and sharing each other s burdens. To assist one
another, they willingly offer donations when a member of their community becomes ill. When illness

HIV is one of the leading causes of illness in the United States. It is estimated that 1,148,200
individuals are living with HIV, with about 207,800 or 18% that are undiagnosed and 47,500 newly
infected in 2010, in the United States (CDC, 2013). Although there is no cure, treatment is available
through antiviral medications, but access to healthcare is often a major pitfall. Many of the behaviors
that make individuals more vulnerable for HIV, such as IV drug use and illegal prostitution, also
increase an individual s vulnerability to be incarcerated. In 2010, there were 20,093 reported inmates
with HIV/AIDS in custody in either state or federal prison (HIV in Prisons, 2012). Although this
number has decreased since the previous census count of 20,880 individuals imprisoned in either state
or federal custody, this still does not take into account the individuals that are released from prison and
are required to seek a continuation of treatment on their own. In 2012, the number of admissions to
state and federal prison in the United States was 609,800 offenders. The number of releases from U.S.
prisons in 2012 (637,400) exceeded that of admissions for the fourth consecutive year (Prisoners in

  • 2. The Human Eyes Of Primates Sclera One of the most variable aspects of the eyes in primates is the sclera. The sclera in primates comes in multiple different pigments and SSI as seen in figure 2. In research on human eyes, evidence concludes that through the sclera, health, age and emotion can be detected; redden or yellow sclera detects decreased health, increased age, and even emotions of sadness or irritation, whereas bright white sclera represents increased overall health [4]. The true purpose for the evolution of the sclera is not completely clear, but many implications can be made to help researchers better understand the complex evolution of the eye. One of the major topics for research on the eye is the discovery that the purpose of the white sclera is to amplify gaze direction whereas the darker colored sclera is to do the opposite; hide gaze direction from predators [5]. Not only can the sclera help detect emotion and gaze but is a major factor in the evolution of communication between primates. The majority of organisms that fall into the category of primates tend to live in relatively large group size and work together within their habitats to increase the overall survival rate. There are multiple benefits of living in larger groups which include increased genetic diversity, increased protection from predators and even more opportunity for developing learning strategies [7]. On the other hand, animals living in smaller groups do not necessarily have as much completion for resources or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dead Poet Society The Review Dead Poet Society (Weir, 1989) is a movie about a shy teenager named Todd Anderson, who has to live up to his older overachiever brother s reputation. Todd goes on to attend the same school where his brother graduated as a valedictorian The Welton Academy for boys. The semester begins with an orientation assembly speech from the unyielding Headmaster Nolan, who highlights the academy s four pillars: Tradition, Discipline, Excellence and Honor. Todd meets Neil, his roommate. Later on, both teenagers find out that they are both living a similar situation involving the constant pressure from their parents to succeed. Following, the teenagers get to meet their conventional teachers. However, they also met a teacher whose teaching method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bible teaches us in Matthew 6:33, To seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you English Standard Version. This is true for me because as a coach I need to believe genuinely in my client s vision, just as God believed in me when He gave his only son to die for our sins. God s genuine act of selflessness is a reminder that we as well, should carry on that message to those we come across in this lifetime. The movie was truly inspirational in all aspects of the word. I would not modify anything in this movie. I will integrate what I learned from this movie to help my clients through the transformational process, but more importantly, to help them believe in themselves in order for them to take charge of their lives. The most valuable lesson I took from this film was that we should believe in ourselves just as God believe in us. Perhaps the biggest lesson I took away from this movie is that believing in ourselves regardless of what other people think is necessary for a long term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Three Generic Strategies Essay To attain competitive gain, organisations can differentiate their merchandise and services from their competitors they can also choose to lower their costs in order to compete with other contenders. By aiming their produces to a wide ranging target, they are essentially covering most of the marketplace or if they choose, they can decide to concentrate on a narrower target within the market (Lynch 2003). While doing so may reduce their market range it essentially reduces their other competitors. Porter stated that there are three generic strategies that an organisation can follow to achieve competitive gain over other organisations. These are: 1) Cost Leadership 2) Differentiation 3) Focus Cost Leadership The organizations that endeavour to wind up the least cost makers in an industry can be alluded to as those taking after a low cost procedure. The organization with the least expenses would gain the most elevated benefits in the occasion when the contending items are basically undifferentiated, and offering at a standard business market cost. Organizations taking after this methodology place accentuation on cost diminishment in each action in the value chain. Note that an organization may be a cost pioneer however that does not inexorably infer that the organization s items would have a low cost. In specific occurrences, the organization can for occasion charge a normal cost while applying the low cost leadership strategy and put the earnings made back into the business ... • 5. Summary Of The Noble Treason For my book review I read the book, A Noble Treason written by Richard Hanser. The Noble Treason is about Sophie Scholl and the White Rose Revolt against Adolf Hitler. Taking place in 1942, Sophie Scholl and her older brother Hans were bright, young university students in Munich University in Germany. They had once been passionate supporters of the German renewal promised by National Socialism, as members of the Hitler Youth. But as their comprehension of Nazi barbarism grew, so did their moral outrage towards Adolf Hitler. In result, Sophie and Hans Scholl formed a small group of like minded friends, which originally included a student of philosophy, two medical students, and a fifty year old professor. They were all identified as Christians from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was meaning to show everyone that they are all equal and that every single one is the same no matter their differences. In my opinion, this true story showed determination and willpower because The White Rose was persisting in making their country better, not only for themselves but for future generations. They risked their lives not caring if they broke the law. They knew that Adolf Hitler was afraid of anyone corrupting the influence that he had over the people. In addition, I believe that he wanted to recall that even in the harshest times, people can still have hope and stand up for themselves. For instance, The White Rose changed many perspectives of others by simply publishing six leaflets which exposed Hitler s cruel ways. He wanted to emphasize and teach others that everyone has the freedom to think for themselves. Nobody should force one another what to do or what to think because it is their choice whether or not do will or will not do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hence, there was a lack of trust between different parts of the supply chain, which even further have enhanced the bullwhip effects in the IKEA supply chain. Other problems related to the supply chain performance was difficulties to get enough attention of data maintenance, the lack of proper follow up tools to monitor forecast deviations, hard to change mindsets among users, no synchronization of order and stock data, to name but a few. To overcome the difficult situation, IKEA initiated a program (cluster of projects) aiming to taking better control of its supply chain, and enhance performance in terms of delivery service and costs. Douglas introduced the Compromise of 1850. Kansas and Nebraska would become free states because of where they are located, north of 36 30 N latitude. If they both became free states, the balance would be broken. Douglas knew southerners would object to this so he let the people in each territory vote on it to be a free or slave state so he introduced the Kansas Nebraska Act. This is called popular sovereignty when the people get to decide on an issue. As a result, Northerners protested. This caused even more tension before the Civil War would begin. • 8. Girl Model And Documentary Argument Girl Model and Documentary as Argument Documentaries occupy a unique space in the film world. Not only must these films attempt to provide a perspective on reality, they must also engage the audience and provide a form of entertainment. In portraying reality, the films generally take on a specific perspective. Documentary filmmakers create a film advocating a specific point of view in order to create interest in the film and create a stronger film overall. Bill Nichols calls this the documentary s argument (165). He states, [I]n documentary, realism serves to make an argument about the historical world seem persuasive (Nichols 165). Because of the focus on Nadya and Ashley, the audience does not gain much information about the companies who recruit and represent the models or the people who work with Nadya and Ashley. Throughout the film, the audience does view interactions between Nadya and Ashley and the people they work for, but there is very little emphasis placed on the other people depicted. There is some focus on Ashley s supervisors and employers, but the focus is often negative. At one point, the filmmaker includes an interview with Ashley where she mentions that she believes Messiah, the owner of one of the agencies she scouts for, continues his job because he engages in inappropriate relationships with the young models he recruits. Ashley states, [Messiah] loves models (Girl). She never openly states that Messiah has relationships with his models, but the implication is clear. Although this claim never goes farther, Ashley clearly connects the industry to the sex trade. Towards the end of the film, Ashley addresses this point in another interview. She claims that some models find themselves moving into prostitution. Ashley states that the girls already see themselves selling their body for the camera, so they do not find prostitution a stretch (Girl). Including this interview near the end of the film leaves the viewer with a lasting sense of unease about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of Mise En Scene In The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari A scene analysis of Cesare s awakening The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Robert Wiene In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Robert Wiene cleverly uses mise en scene and cinematography to add to the eeriness and originality in the scene of Cesare s awakening. The scene is important to the overall film because it instills the viewer to believe that there will be a connoting between Cesare and Alan. The purpose can be seen in the reverse shot sequence at the end of the scene in the dialogue How long do I have to live? Till dawn tomorrow. The scene is based highly on use of expressionistic credit design and stylization of acting through exaggerations. Through the theatrical design set, Robert Wiene builds tension and drama to the scene and draws the views attention to the constructed nature of the film. The awakening scene in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is filmed in a theatrical manner, where the set is on a stage, with distorted curtains and secretive shadows. The scene is carefully centered in the middle to make the viewer less distracted of movement within the frame. The stage curtains work in favor of the framing and like the clever set; the costume and makeup fit the bizarre arrangement and design of the scene. The men in the audience are all dressed in gloomy and flowing long cloaks. To accentuate Cesare s tall and lanky figure he is dressed in a fitting black leotard and his dark character is obscure in darkness. His dead like face is covered thickly in heavy make up and his expression is as a warning to the viewer. Caligari, on the other hand, has an eccentric look with crazy white hair and glasses. When looking at the understanding of the inner frame in the scene, Cesare s expressive actions contribute significantly. The state of trance is revealed by his sleek figure and androgynous appearance in contrast to the other characters that are moving unusually quickly. By repeated close ups of Cesare s hypnotic expression and tranquil figure forces the viewer to identify with him and allows us to understand that he is restrained to react only from Dr. Caligari s commands. Cesare is shot from a high angle ushering the viewer to join into his shocking state. The close up of Cesare s exaggerated dark eyes, pallid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a disease in which the body is attacking its own myelin as if it was a foreign substance. This disease is currently affecting about 2.3 million people in the world (Tran, 2014). In 1838, Dr. Jean Martin Charcot became the first person credited with identifying multiple sclerosis as a disease. The media, journalists especially, must hold upon themselves a great responsibility when they are acting as this filtering apparatus between the ordered and unordered. But is that the only thing journalism does: make sense of the news? No, it does much more than that. And this is not only a discussion between citizens and citizens or leaders and leaders but rather between citizens and leaders; the press simply acts as a medium. Justice Douglas wrote in New York Times Co. v. United States that [o]pen debate and discussion of public issues are vital to our national health. On public questions there should be uninhibited, robust, and wide open debate. Although debate and discussion are vital to the Republic, maybe society should rethink about how uninhibited, robust, and wide open those debates really are. Society today tends to think of debates as two opposing ideas battling each other out in order to ascertain which idea comes out in first, and, as Kovach and Rosenstiel point out, a debate focused only on the extremes of argument does not serve the public but instead leaves most citizens out (167). The problem with this is that there are not only one or two given positions on any given issue, but there are many positions. In the debates that go on today, those positions which are often left out are often those which are also most agreeable with each other. So instead of letting debates focus only on the extremes, [t]he public forum must include the broad areas of agreement, where most of the public resides and where the solutions to society s problems are found (Kovach and Rosenstiel 167). • 16. An Effective Compensation Structure Of Employees Essay Overview Organizations spend a great deal of time and resources in developing an effective compensation structure one that is lawful, aligns with the strategy and objectives of the business itself, is externally competitive and can recruit and retain talented employees. However, not all positions will fall into this meticulously composed pay structure. There are groups of employees who will fall outside of the scale used for everyone else, with compensation packages seemingly at odds with what everyone else receives (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2016, p. 502). Executives are one such group of employees specifically senior level executives, or CEOs. The computation of compensation CEOs receive does not follow the same process as that of other positions. As such, the compensation practices for senior level executives have come under fire (Milkovich, et al., p. 504). There are many opponents to current executive compensation levels in our economy, many of whom cite the multimillion dollar total compensation received by some Fortune 500 executives compared to average worker pay levels (AFL CIO, 2014). However, there are also proponents of executive compensation who believe that the inherent risk involved in these positions, in addition to market variables and job duties and responsibilities warrant the, sometimes confounding, compensation figures (Kaplan, 2008). This paper sets out to examine these arguments to determine if CEOs are over compensated in our economy. Research ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author, William Shakespeare, uses Friar Laurence because he s wise and everyone trusts him. The way he expresses his feelings toward the event that s taking place, can sometimes leave the reader feeling indifferent and in view. In the play Romeo and Juliet , Shakespeare uses Friar Laurence s descriptive language to contrast the ideas of life with death and joy with sorrow to Romeo and Juliet s love and the relationship between Juliet and her parents. Throughout the story many emotions are being played with. However, joy and sorrow are the biggest emotions played by all the characters at least once during the play. Juliet bounces between these emotions when she talks to her parents, to when she s talking to Romeo or even the nurse. Friar Laurence (when speaking after Juliet s fake death) mentions She is not well married that lives married long,/ But she s best married that dies married young (39). He was trying to get the point across that if Capulet forced Juliet to marry Paris, she would ve lived a longer life but she wouldn t have been filled with joy, wouldn t live her live to the fullest and how she would want to. • 22. Anti Semitism By Philip Roth Essay Anti Semitism Jewish Writers The experience of the Jewish family in the United States over the past century has been one of acculturation and accommodation to the norms and the values of America society. At the same time, Anti Semitism in America reached its peak during the interwar period between 1940s and 1960s. At that time, the Jewish Anti Semitism appeared as a phenomenon of the Depression and the 1940s. Almost all of the Jewish American writers simply presented realistic portrayals of their fellow immigrants or their parents generation. Later, some other Americans, partial to Anti Semitism, found confirmation of negative stereotypes in the new Jewish American Literature. Indeed, some parent hating or self hating Jewish American writers of the second or the third generation, living now in the bounty of American affluence, consciously reinforced negative stereotypes with satire and a selective realism. Philip Roth, whose portrayal of the tensions between these figures borders on self hatred and an almost Anti Semitic view of the Jewish family in America, is a great example of these phenomenon. In his book, Portnoy s Complaint, Roth touched on the assimilation experiences of American Jews, their relationship to Israeli Jews, and his experience as inherent in being the son of a Jewish family. As a second generation Jewish writer, he chose to show the stereotypes and discrimination that he faced through Alex Portnoy. Portnoy was raised by Jewish parents who were very ... This formed the tenets of post war modernization theories. This paradigm fitted the idea of development and breaking free from the yoke of poverty, hunger, diseases and other social problems.
