Cursive Negative Writing
Cursive handwriting has been considered an educational staple for years but with all the advances in
modern technology has the need to know how to write in cursive become irrelevent? With almost all
classes going digital should cursive no longer be taught to the younger generations? Some people
believe cursive handwriting is essential to the development of an active mind. Some people believe
typing things out as opposed to actually handwriting messages is more beneficial. Where do you stand
on this topic? Do you think public schools should teach their students how to write in cursive? Do you
think cursive handwriting is becoming obsolete?
As with many things taught to the younger generations, there always comes some sort of debate on
whether or not the knowledge being distributed is actually beneficial to their developing minds in the
long run. Will what the schools are teaching them actually help them in their lives as (hopefully) fully
functioning adults? Cursive handwriting and whether or not to remove it permenantly from the
educational curriculum has been being tossed back and forth. A survey given to handwriting teachers
revealed that only 37% of the handwriting teachers wrote in cursive. It used to be that a persons name
written in cursive was an important part of their identity, their literal and figurative signature so to
speak, but that is no longer the case. A signature is no longer needed for most legal documents now a
days. The use of an electronic signature

Differences Between Fanon And De Tocqueville
Despite the fact that one cannot force a national identity, the drive to mold and create one runs deep in
both Fanon s and de Tocqueville s writings. At this point, the differences in background and the
purposes of writing between our two authors becomes apparent. De Tocqueville s project with Algeria
aims to investigate the best way to colonize with the least detriment to the French. Given that the
colonists had already deposed the old government to install their own at the time of his writings, de
Tocqueville identifies a few sources of danger for the French in Algeria and proposes a path forward.
At the time, the French had plans to unseat a remnant government in Constantine in the east of Algiers
and ally with Abd el Kader in the west of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both believe that the identity has to flow from the bottom up (that is to say that it must be based on the
desires and cultures of the people), realize that a shared identity is paramount to the security of a
nation, and even share the opinion that violence creates new and strengthens old identities. Even
moreover, both recognize that one state with two strong national identities cannot be beneficial for all
people: de Tocqueville in his analysis of Abd el Kader, and Fanon explicitly writing that the two
confront each other, but not in the service of a higher unity... there is no reconciliation possible, one of
them is superfluous (Fanon 4). The two only theoretically diverge on the ease of establishing a unified
culture. Furthermore, they practically diverge on the end goals of of national identity and the resulting
class structure. It clearly follows, then, that the primary difference between Fanon and de Tocqueville
s take on national identity stems purely from their respective positions in life, the anti colonialist

The Shifting Narratee in The Turn of the Screw Essay
The Shifting Narratee in The Turn of the Screw
In the essay Introduction to the Study of the Narratee, Gerald Prince discusses the interpretative value
of thinking about to whom a narrative is addressed. First, he establishes what a zero degree narratee
(or possessor of a minimum number of specific narratee characteristics identified by Prince) is and is
not: A narratee is not the actual reader, the implied reader, or the ideal reader. The narratee is beholden
to the narrator, because, Without the assistance of the narrator, without his explanations and the
information supplied by him, the narratee is able neither to interpret the value of an action or to grasp
its repercussions (Prince 11). With this definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Douglas plays a key role since he is the caretaker of her written record and of, apparently, their long
dead mutual affection. Though at a party full of people who are somewhat interested in the story,
Douglas is addressing only one person, the narratee, who happens to be a character in the story.
As Douglas s narratee, I fulfills some of Prince s delineated narratee functions: He has roughly the
same intellectual capabilities, is in tune with the nuances of Douglas s prepatory remarks, and seems
to be the intended recipient of the story at the Christmas party. Douglas appeals to I to fully
understand the emotional impact of the story. I recalls, It was to me in particular that he appeared to
propound this appeared almost to appeal for aid not to hesitate, an appeal to which I willingly
responds, The others resented postponement, but it was just his scruples that charmed me (2).
But if Douglas narrates to I, to whom is I speaking? This narratee is more elusive. The fictive listener
of I s story must be someone who is intrigued by unnatural events and must be able to look beyond the
surface of the story at the moral or psychological subtext that I is interested in. Both Douglas and I are
trying to say more with less, in varying

eBay´s executives do not adopt the management style to Chinese conditions. For the majority of

Different Aspects Of A Disease System
DISCUSSION
Zoonotic disease systems are complex and difficult to predict because there are a large number of
biotic and abiotic variables (Alexander et al. 2012). These variables may include biological, genetic,
ecological, environmental, and socio economic factors (Wilcox and Gubler 2005, Estrada Pena et al
2014). However, integrated models can provide crucial insights into the ecological dynamics of a
disease system (Plowright et al. 2008), and they can help inform public health interventions and guide
public health policies (Leach and Scoones 2013). By simplifying these different aspects of a zoonotic
disease system into constrained components that are easier to understand, models can answer specific
questions about disease system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our MTILG analyses revealed no significant concordance between either species in our study area,
suggesting that the movements of mice and ticks across the region are mutually independent. Indeed, a
previous study on the population genetics of black legged ticks in southern Quebec had shown that
long distance dispersal events likely drive tick movement across the landscape (Leo et al. 2015b).
Therefore, examination of tick and mouse distributions across the region should be performed
independently. Nonetheless, disease models predicting zoonotic disease emergence that engage a multi
species approach will produce more accurate risk projections (Estrada Pena et al. 2014) and so our
efforts to model B. burgdorferi emergence simultaneously incorporated both the black legged ticks
and the white footed mouse.
In addition to host vector pathogen interactions our model also incorporated climate and landscape
based parameters. This is because species respond differently to varying conditions and models that
focus on using only single predictor variable risk omitting the effects of variables operating at other
spatial scales (Raghavan et al. 2013, Riley et al. 2015). Studies on the Lyme disease system in North
America have shown that disease transmission risks in any region can be substantially correlated with
landscape heterogeneity (Brownstein et al. 2005),

Disaster Communication
Communications
With such advancements in technology, communication has had progressive changes and has made
connecting instantaneous. An effective way to manage disaster response and recovery is through
timely and truthful information delivered to the public and elected community officials. This can be
through news media or social media. To promote a more effective disaster management operation an
agency must communicate policies, goals, and priorities to staff, partners and participants.

One of the first steps for an agency to provide accurate and current information during a disaster is to

Lending a Helping Hand Essay
Lending a Helping Hand
There have always been organizations that provide help for the needy. Now the economy is going
through a downward spiral giving these institutions a greater importance in helping the lives of those
who need it. Miami County residents have seen firsthand that some people who live in this area really
need the help. The statistical evidence shows that Miami County, Indiana is being affected by the
economy. The average salary of a resident in Peru, Indiana ends up being $28,487. (Indiana) That
number may not seem profound, but when you have a family to support, the budget gets tight. The
normal wage annually for a resident in the state of Indiana is $45,434. (Indiana) That makes it roughly
38% more money than what Miami ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, hunger only makes up for a small part of the complications that poverty brings. Without enough
money, how does someone suppose to afford to live in a house? Though most Miami County residents
do not see homeless people, does not hide the fact we have people living without a home. Peru is not a
big city like New York, or Los Angeles, but no matter where you are at in America, there will always
be those who cannot afford to rent or own any type of housing.
Even if everyone could afford some type of housing to live in, it does not mean they can afford all the
necessary utilities. Air conditioning is not a necessity, but someone might not have enough money to
provide a fan. The cost for utilities such as electricity for a fan to keep the cool in the summer heat, or
simply having running water might be a problem for someone with little to no income. With winter
approaching even some people will have to go without heat in the Miami County area.
Helping Hands is a Non Government and Non Profit organization in Miami County. Hershel Manhart
was a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul in Peru when he began to do research to determine if there was
a need for a food pantry. He started his research in 2000 and within two years determined there was
definitely a need for one. Helping Hands was founded in 2002 by Hershel. (Manhart) It is run by
volunteers from the area and provides many solutions to the dilemmas of poverty. Some of the

The United States, Iraq, and The Ramifications of War Essays
Operation Desert Storm or otherwise known as the Gulf War was a huge victory for the United States
and its allies while at the same time a devastating defeat for Iraq.1 The attack led by the United States
on Iraq nearly destroyed the Iraqi s military capabilities which forced Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait
and led to changing Iraq s southern border in a way that was in favor of Kuwait. The attack also
instigated differences in opinion in Iraq and generally weakened Saddam Hussein s regime.2 As Robin
Wright stated, Operation Desert Storm served as a textbook case of how to deal with aggression in the
post Cold War world .3 Eight years later after the U.S. victory over Iraq in the Gulf War, the United
States remained in an ongoing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, the United State s foreign policies towards Iraq has changed several times since World War
II. Before the Baathist coup in 1958 the United States considered Iraq and Saudi Arabia as their
principle allies. After the coup, the relationship between the two countries had cooled down
considerably and the United States started to view Iraq as another radical and unfriendly nation in the
Middle East. Under the directions of the Shah, Iran stood as one of the most important allies of the
Middle East for the United State. The Iranian Revolution of 1979 and Cold War politics created
another shift in United States foreign policies concerning Iraq8. The United States clearly came down
on the side of Iraq during the eight year Iran Iraqi War. The United States military had supplied Iraq
with intelligence information to assist in Iraq attacks against Iran.9 The Reagan administration in 1982
took Iraq off of their list of countries which were supporting terrorism, a move that made it possible
for Iraq to receive large amounts of resources which could be used to produce weapons of mass
destruction (WMD). Throughout the 1980 s when the Bush administration was encouraging new loans
to the Iraqi government in an effort to ease U.S. Iraqi trades, the United States provided Iraq with both
indirect and direct economic aid.10 Also, throughout the 1980 s the United States consistently turned a
blind eye to Iraq s production and use

The Birth Of Jesus And The Gospel Of Luke
The birth of Jesus is one of the most well known and performed narratives around the world. Despite
the fact that there are several versions of the narrative, at times there is one version that is considered
more popular than the rest. Many people have this common scenario playing in their heads when
thinking about the birth of Jesus, typically including; a barn, farm animals, the holy family, angels, a
small town, and wise men. However, it is important for individuals to realize that there is not only one
version depicting the Birth Narrative, rather there are two in which both describe the birth of Jesus
differently. Two out of the four Gospels in the New Testament that include the Birth Narratives are the
Gospel of Luke and the Gospel of Matthew. In both these Gospels, it will become apparent that there
are different features in both as well as some similarities which help embody the theme of their
respective Gospels.
Being known as one of the longest Gospels, the Gospel of Luke is distinctive when compared to the
other Synoptic Gospels. However, another important component about this gospel is the birth
narrative being mentioned in a story like form as well as various features that differentiate it when
compared to the birth narrative in the gospel of Matthew. In the Gospel of Luke, various characters
were mentioned which included, Mary, Joseph, Caesar Augustus, angel Gabriel, angels, Shepherds,
Simeon, Anna, Zechariah. The Birth Narrative, became known through the

A Research Study On Quantitative Research
A Quantitative Research Study Overview
Sheila E. Brooks

Introduction As we continue our discussion in comparing qualitative versus quantitative research, we
now focus our attention on quantitative research. In my personal opinion, I feel that quantitative
research is harder to understand but breaking the article into sections allows me to understand the
basic concepts. This week we will examine and in discuss a quantitative research article. The name of
the article is First time mothers: social support, maternal parental self efficacy and postnatal
depression written by authors Leahy Warren, McCarthy, Corcoran in 2011. First, I take a look at the

However, there is little research that provides a clear definition of what is meant by social support
(Leahy Warren et el, 2009). In other words, there is no research which has measured the relationship
between social support and maternal parental self efficacy using a domain specific instrument
developed and supported by self efficacy model and post natal depression with first time mothers at
six weeks post delivery
(Leahy Warren et el, 2009)
Maternal Parental Self Efficacy and Depression By now, some of you may be asking the same
question that I had when I first started reading this article. What is meant by maternal parental self
efficacy and post natal depression? It is important to understand these two definitions in order to
understand the article. Maternal parental self efficacy is a belief that a parent holds about themselves
in terms of being able to care for and parent a child (Leahy Warren et el, 2009). These includes the
ability to plan, organize, and execute actions in order to produce the desire results with the belief that
there is a strong correlation between the age of the mother and the number of children (Leah Warren et
el, 2009).
I can t help to think about my own experience as a mother as I read this article. I am a single mother of
six children and I can say that my confidence grew more as I

The Significance Of The Holy Spirit In The Old Testament
In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit is the source of life and creation. The Holy Spirit worked in the
lives of men that God placed His Spirit upon such as prophets and kings to perform His service.
Therefore, the Holy Spirit was not given universally in the Old Testament but selectively and
temporarily for service. However, in the New Testament, the Spirit grants life to God s people and
believers are brought to faith, in Jesus, through the sovereign work of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit of
God is the driving divine force that assisted God with the creation of the things on the earth. Gen. 1:1
2, (KJV), records the first account of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament. In the beginning, God
created the heavens and the earth and the earth was without form and void; and darkness was over the
surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. In addition, Ps.
33:6 records that the Word of the Lord made the heavens and all the host of them by the breath of His
mouth. After God created the earth as a habitation, He created man in His own image and likeness. In
Gen. 2:7, the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the
breath of life, and the man became a living soul. Therefore, the Holy Spirit grants natural life to all
human beings. Paul said the spiritual life is not first, but the natural life is, then the spiritual (1 Cor.
15:46). The Spirit of God reaches into the spirit of the person to do the

4mat Book Review, Leading Change by John P. Kotter
Lisa B. Steele

Abstract
According to Greek philosopher Heraclitus (2009), Change is the only constant . Understanding that
change is going to happen and how to deal with the change is essential for all leaders. John Kotter
reviews an eight stage process for creating major change in his book, Leading Change. Understanding
the difference between leading and managing is crucial for this process to have success. When one
leads, instead of manages, change takes place. Management is the processes of an organization. It is
the day to day structure that produces products or services. Good management is important for a
business to succeed, but it is quite different from leadership. Good leadership produces useful change.

Tell Tale Heart Narrative
All About Stories And Why They Are Told Many authors are able to convey literary elements in their
work. Throughout the story The Tell Tale Heart , by Edgar Allan Poe, he shows astronomical amounts
of flashbacks, imagery and a blood curdling theme. Any type of wholesome story will include these
elements to avail the ultimate goal; to regale, persuade or apprise the reader or audience. By utilizing
literary terms and elements to expound the purpose, any author or inditer will show great development
in their inditement works. Starting on the second paragraph, Poe utilizes a flashback to commence his
gruesome tale. The story is told in the first person perspective and introduces the main character, the
doer of the malefaction. At this time, the narrator is in an insane asylum, although the reason will be
revealed to the reader later in the text. It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but
once conceived, it haunted me day and night. (page 1). This sentence integrates suspense and

Pharmacist Reference Letter
It is my pleasure to recommend Erick Leung for your UMHS Pharmacy Internship program. He
volunteered for me at the UC Davis Clinic Pharmacy last summer and winter break and I find him to
be an intelligent, dedicated, and hardworking young man. He was always on time and ready to work.
Although he had no prior experience in the pharmacy field, he was eager to learn and help in any
capacity and utilized each task as a learning experience for him. For example, he turned the most
mundane task of filing prescription to learn drugs brand and generic names. He helped me with
pulling and returning expired drugs and cashiering. Erick caught on quickly and was constantly
willing to help. During his time her, I observed his interactions with staffs and patients and discovered
his sunny disposition also made him a pleasant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I helped arrange a shadowing experience with our inpatient Transition Of Care pharmacists to help
him get different aspects of pharmacy. He shadowed them for a few days and their feedback about
Erick was extremely positive. The preceptors commented he was inquisitive, intelligent, and a fast
learner. He was always willing to assist in any assignment and accompany the TOC team on their
rounds so he could experience the collaboration between the medical staffs. They also expressed their
appreciation for Erick multiple times for helping them with the patient discharge process and finding
drug and manufacture discount cards to help with patients copays.
When Erick informed me he wanted to apply to your UMHS Internship program, I was ecstatic that
his passion for learning continues to motivate him to expand his pharmacy experience beyond the
classroom. I highly recommend Erick for your internship program. I believe his dedication to learning

My Experience In My Summer
I can not wait to learn new things in your class this year. I am ready to read lots of new books and
some Shakespeare because I have not read a lot of his work before. I had a great summer full of
family, fun, and travel. My summer was not as interesting as your summer Mrs. Cole, but I sure did
have fun. The first trip I went on this summer was to New Orleans, which was pretty Amazing
because I got to walk down the historic streets of the world famous French Quarter. I have not been to
New Orleans since I was 4 years old with my whole family, but this time my parents and I were the
only ones who went. On the first day we went to Café Du Monde, which is an original French market
stand that has been around since 1862. The best part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Overall Las Vegas was probably the best part of my summer and I am lucky to have an amazing
family to enjoy it with. Other than the two trips I went on this summer, I did not do a lot because my
parents were busy with work and my sister was busy with summer classes. I was busy every morning
for football though because we had to be at Braden River every morning at 7:30. The only good part
about waking up early was that when I was done I still had most of the day to go fishing or do
anything. Workouts really help out at the beginning of the season though because it makes us ready
and strong for the whole season. Besides having football every morning, I went fishing a lot over the
summer in lakes around my neighborhood. I at least caught around 30 bass this summer because I was
mostly fishing this summer when I had nothing else to do. The only boring thing I had to do this
summer was taking drivers ed online, so I am prepared to take my permit test when I turn 15. The
whole summer was filled with fun, but it seemed like it went by very fast. The only reason it probably
went by fast was because time flys when your having fun. With all the fun happening this year my dog
probably had the least amount of fun because while we were on vacation he was at the vet. I have a
miniature Dachshund and he is my sisters little angel because he will follow her where ever she goes.
The worst part about the end of summer is that my sister Kiana has to go back to

The Problem Of Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is a country mainly known for the origin of Islam and has two holiest places in the
country. Saudi Arabia is an oil producing country with huge reserve fund and its currency is doing
very good on the financial front. Till early nineties country was in the very good state of the financial
as well as population distribution. Most of the Saudis were working and having very low
unemployment situation. With the increase in the population and educated youth demand for work has
increased and those who could not get jobs turned their faces towards other activities like an illegal
business and helping or involving them in terrorist activities. To meet this growing problem king
Suleman tried to analyze the problem and declared some policies about the illegal immigrants or
people overstaying in the country even after their immigration time has expired. The rule has been so
critical and changed the definition of the immigration that people staying in the country after the
expiry of their visa will be treated as an illegal immigrant. The police have taken very strong action
against the illegal immigrants. This all is done to accommodate their own people in certain jobs so that
they can be employed and the illegal activities can be curtailed down. The aim of the policy is to
satisfy the local people that the government is worried about their problem and taking action in the
right direction. But the analyst says that the certain work which can be performed by certain labor

Internal Validity And External Validity
Module 3 Assignment
Internal Validity
Internal Validity is the inexact truth about derivations with respect to cause impact or causal
connections. Along these lines, internal validity is just pertinent in studies that attempt to make a
causal relationship. It s not significant in most observational or descriptive studies. One of the things
that is most hard to handle about internal validity is that it is just important to the particular study
being referred to. That is, you can consider internal validity as a zero generalizability concern. All that
internal validity means is that you have confirmed that what you did in the study created what you
wanted to happen. It doesn t let you know whether what you accomplished for the study was what you
needed to do or whether what you happened was what you needed to happen.

1950s Fashion Analysis
Between the stock market crash of 1929 and the end of World War II in 1945, fashion was forced to
take the backseat. In the beginning of the 1950 s, the fashion scene was yet again at the forefront of
western cultures, perhaps more than ever before. With an economic boom, the decade pushed towards
consumerism, a trend that still continues to this day. Once WWII came to an end, rationing became a
thing of the past, as the accessibility of various fabrics became the norm. It was during the 50 s that
department stores gained popularity, providing access to a wide range of consumer goods from all
areas of the world. Having the latest trends was no longer a concept reserved exclusively for the rich,
people everywhere shared loved for fashion (Leaper, 2017). The fashion trends that were created
during this period reflected femineity by emphasising on the female figure. With many new silhouettes
emerging, the era became a time of conformity. Throughout the 50 s, women were expected to look
and dress a certain way and many conformed to this established standard of fashion. With husbands
returning from the war, American women were again expected to focus on their role as housewives.
Conformity among women was highly encouraged, eliminating the need for dramatic styles. The
conformity throughout this era highlights the contrast between the independent flappers of the 20s and
the conforming women of the 50 s and how far the evolution of women s fashion has travelled.

Being a Good Leader in the Marines Essay
Being a Good Leader in the Marines In order to be a good leader, there are two things to remember.
Lead from the Front and always set the Example. From these two leadership principles, everything
else will fall into place. These are the words that have ended all of my counseling sheets with since I
began writing them as a Corporal and will continue to do as long as I counsel Marines. I was brought
up in the Marine Corps with this philosophy and have adopted it as my own. Leading from the front is
often times one of the leadership principles that is easier said by some than actually done. Those so
called leaders that would tell their Marines to do something that they would never really do

It is harder to actually step down and listen to what another Marine may have to offer, especially as a
Leader . Plenty of times you will have to step up and say, No, this is not up to interpretation . Although
your base leadership philosophy should remain the same, you should be able to change your
leadership style. From the examples given in the book The Defense of Duffers Drift we see how the
leaders ability to read his men, allowed him to disseminate to each subsequent leader his intent.
Although the leader did not change his philosophy, he did change his style in order to relay the
mission in such a manner that the individual he was addressing was able to accomplish it. Although
the battle may not progress as planned, the mission always remains the same. As an individual Marine
from the rank of Lance Corporal and below, it is ultimately your responsibility to take care of yourself.
At the rank of Corporal and Sergeant you become more of a controller. For example, a fire team or
squad leader. Staff Sergeants of Marines, as I have come to realize are more like administrators at the
platoon level. And by administrator I mean several different things. From teaching a young Lieutenant
and mentoring the upcoming Non commissioned officers to holding Marines to all standards and
being able to follow through with the paper work. The Gunnery Sergeant and Master Sergeant billet is
where you learn the logistics of the organization. And the First

An Analysis Of Claire Boucher s New Music
Since she started making music in 2010, Claire Boucher s Grimes project has made some of the oddest
pop music imaginable, and since she started making music in 2010, the music has only increased in
quality. From 2010′s three lo fi, darker projects of Darkbloom, Halfaxa, and Geidi Primes, to 2012′s
ethereal Visions, to her recent singles, last year s trap influenced Go and this year s moody synthpop
jam REALiTi (Demo) , Boucher seems to have been slowly moving towards a mainstream pop

It s why this album feels so polished at times as a vocalist, Grimes is taking every opportunity to add
melody to the songs. In Flesh Without Blood , the triumphant lead single, her voice never rests,
dancing in the verses, fluttering in the pre chorus, and finally exploding: Now I don t care anymore /
uncontrollable. Kill V. Maim is another example of a song that would be quite boring without Boucher
s relentless experimentation with vocals: her ratty, filtered voice whines the verses, occasionally
lapsing into a grotesque scream. Every five seconds, she s changing her melody, her voice, and the
instruments around her, and it s all set to a very clearly defined chord progression, one that doesn t
have to be beautiful as long as it s catchy. The result is that Art Angels is a grower of an album at first
listen, one might only hear a single element of a song, but more and more of Boucher s lovely
experiments will leak out with more and more listens.
Truly, this album is much more eclectic than Visions, and Boucher pulls off each little genre
experiment fantastically, adapting the genres to her style. With its mantric vocals and stop and go
guitar riff, Artangels sounds like a Jagwar Ma track at first however, Boucher clogs this framework
with little sonic Easter eggs, keeping the beat interesting

Analysis of Marketing Effectiveness
Marketing Effectiveness Analysis Retail and Non Profit Sectors Marketing effectiveness is defined as
the ability of an organization to reach its marketing objectives while taking into account the

A second critical factor is the business s value proposition (i.e., how a business presents benefits to the
customers). Without a unique value proposition, it would be difficult to distinguish the benefits of
choosing one site over another when shopping for retail outdoor apparel. Patagonia focuses on high
performance, environmentally friendly, outdoor apparel for a true adventurist. They advertise the
environmental footprint of their products and highlight the key performance aspects of their clothing
items. The North Face s value proposition focuses on the whole family by attempting to create a sense
of community around their high performance apparel while still presenting the concept that even the
weekend camper receives a lot of value from their clothing. Lastly, prAna caters to the calm
adventurer, focusing on high quality, yet comfortable apparel designed specifically to be durable and

Reformation Gun Laws
The Needed Reformation of Gun Laws in the United States of America
In America today we are faced with a choice, to protect our population with regulatory procedures
concerning guns or to stand back and allow the current trends of voluntary violence to continue to
ravage our country. As the number of deaths by violent firearm interactions rise our country has a
moral obligation to attempt to better our systems. The reality is, in order to support the desire for a
safer country we must increase the regulations and laws that surround the possession and purchase of
firearms. There are those who oppose this out look, but the evidence from mass shootings, death

Lemieux found that there is significant evidence that mass shootings and gun ownership rates are
highly correlated... and that this association remains high even when the number of incidents from that

number of guns in a community has a direct relationship with the amount of mass shootings that
occurs in a certain area. The United States has a leniency in gun policies that allow for there to be an
astronomical number of mass shootings every decade. If the United States were to model the gun laws
after some of the other countries in the world there could be a higher chance of the mass shooting rate
going down. Such countries as Australia [have] not experienced a mass shooting since 1996 when it

Aylmer s Character In The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne
In the short story, The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne, a crooked romance takes place between a
scientist and his wife. The narrator tells the story of Aylmer, a brilliant scientist and philosopher,
becoming obsessed with the removal of a birthmark on his wife, Georgiana. The birthmark is in the
shape of a tiny hand on the cheek of her face, which symbolizes humanity in the story. If it wasn t for
the birthmark, Aylmer believes his wife would be perfect, although no one is human unless you are
imperfect. This hypothesis is proven when Aylmer convinces his wife to let him remove the birthmark

Black Diggers Play Analysis
I don t want to join in. I don t belong (Wright 96). The play follows the idea of belonging and how
those who were considered different feel that they don t belong, because they were discriminated
against, abused, called names, assaulted, named and shamed. This script has been written in response
to these atrocities, that most people had no idea about until they have read or seen the play, Black
Diggers; a play told through the eyes of the Aboriginal soldiers and what they went through. I believe
that this text, specifically the last line of the play, said by Nigel in relation to how he did not want to

The text highlights the changing attitudes through society, shown towards the Aboriginal culture, after
life threatening events, bringing these men closer than ever before, Back in France, back in the mud.
Blokes like you shook my hand. We dragged blokes like you through the shit and blood. We saw each
other when we were like babies. Like animals. (wright 71). This text also, I believe, has an inner
meaning of morals and mateship as evident in the closing stages of the play, where the stereotypical
white soldiers are starting to get along with the archetypal black soldiers, who we follow through the
play. Following their ever changing story for a better future of equality and understanding. This all has
an origin, which starts at the very beginning of the play, showing mateship between the Aboriginal
men. As the play moves on the bold line separating the two different cultures, ever so slightly becomes
fainter until it is just a blur. The inner meaning for this text, I see it as recognition towards difference
and what is mismatched between the two cultures and how, this divergence from the normal, is why
the black culture, represented as archetypal characters, we follow them through the play as they try to
become just another face in the crowd, no different from the white man standing next to

Leonardo Da Vinci s Secrets Essay
In Leonardo da Vinci s paintings there are clues that reveal hidden messages. At first glance, his
paintings may seem just like normal paintings, but at second glance they are not that simple. For
example, Mona Lisa has captivated humanity for centuries because of her smile and her mysterious
identity and the small details in The Last Supper have posed questions about what they mean.
Leonardo da Vinci attracts me because through his art he may reveal to us some hidden truths about
the past and also because he knows the identity of the women in The Mona Lisa.

( Zaman, par. 5).
People have analyzed the Mona Lisa painting in hopes of discovering the identity of the sitter.
Consequently, several theories have been proposed about Mona LIsa s identity, but the mystery still
remains. For example, Dr. Lillian Schwartz used computer technology to compare Mona Lisa s facial
features with that of Leonardo da Vinci. After carefully overlying their faces, she saw that their facial
features aligned. This made her theorize that Leonardo painted himself as a woman ( Scientific
Organization, par. 6). However, there is another theory that states that their faces align perfectly
because Mona Lisa is Leonardo s daughter ( Leonardo da Vinci s, sec. More theories ). Yet another
theory believes that the women in this painting is his mother Caterina. So, which one of these theories
is actually a fact? As you can see, no theory satisfactorily answers the question, Who is Mona Lisa? (
Scientific Organization, par. 3).
The only way art lovers, such as myself, can answer this old, yet intriguing question is by going back
to Leonardo Da vinci s time and spending a quiet afternoon with him: Taking a walk through the quiet
streets of Florence, Italy, the place where Mona Lisa was created with Leonardo by my side,
witnessing him paint the famous painting himself in his office, and asking him all these unanswered
questions.
As mentioned earlier, there is another painting painted by Leonardo

most, if not all of them are involving appealing to or interacting with and organizations publics. Be it
employees, customers, or any other stakeholders, theories can be referenced applied to learn now
about your publics and help achieve your goals. Northern Kentucky University as an organization
attempting to begin a major transitional phase. The university is trying to attract new students, while
ensuring the success of current students, all the while attempting to change the school s image as a
small local school, to a big state university. A Public Relations practitioner can apply theories to the
situation as NKU attempts to maintain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bring more in and keeping the ones we have to longer durations. Assuming the role as a PR
practitioner behind this plan and focusing so much on students and the internal environment at NKU
three theories relevant are Systems Theory, Social Exchange Theory, and Social Learning Theory.
Systems Theory presents the idea that all organizations and their parts are systems that exist in relation
to each other, and that the attitudes and actions of the different parts of the system affect not only the
other parts of the organization (or system), but the system as a whole as well. Systems Theory presents
two types of systems, open and closed. An open system reacts, listens to, and embraces its publics,
both internal and external, while a closed system doesn t acknowledge their publics in decision
making. A closed system takes note of past decisions and mainly examines the past in decision
making, not it s publics. When applied to my position at NKU as the practitioner, it is important for
me to keep in mind the importance of being an open system. For example, when trying to attract new

is not in the position to make decision based solely on past decision and the history of the school
because these potential students are not interested in

Analysis Of Ecuador s Housing And Tourism Industry
Ecuador is well known for its beauty and has made a name for its self to be one of the best places for
retirees to buy properties. There is a wide variety of selection whether you want to live in the coast,
the mountains or in one of Ecuador s bustling cities. The housing market in Ecuador is frequently
proclaimed as one of the best and cheapest to retire in and has been becoming more and more popular
for the last five years, with home prices appreciating annually by 10 to 12 percent. Therefore we have
chosen to enter Ecuador s housing and tourism industry. We believe this is a good time to enter the
market because of low cost properties with potential for high growth. As potential buyers seek to buy
their get away home Ecuador creates a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which would produce a 36% ROI after a period of 5 10 years. Compared to a Luxury property that
would sell for somewhere around 500,000 USD with no renovation cost which would generate a ROI
of almost 200% if resold at 1.5 million USD. It is estimated that after 5 10 years (possibly earlier) of
letting these properties appreciate it would be more efficient to buy larger more expensive properties
than many small cheaper properties. In order to get the same results with buying cheaper less
expensive properties you would have to have very rapid sales or you would have to sell at a price
which would be sacrificing desired returns. While it is hard to generalize, as every transaction is
different typically the agents commission is 5% of the agreed up price, and all other costs (legal fees
and taxes) are typically between $750 and $1,500 for a regular condo or house purchase. Annual
property taxes in Ecuador are based on Assessed Value and not on the actual purchase amount. The
assessed value can be anywhere from 5% to 50% of the real value of the property depending on where
the property is located. EX. if we purchase a property for $100,000 and the assessed value is $30,000,
the maximum property tax would be $300 per year. Property taxes are due on January first of each
year, and are not due until December 31

  • 2. Cursive Negative Writing Cursive handwriting has been considered an educational staple for years but with all the advances in modern technology has the need to know how to write in cursive become irrelevent? With almost all classes going digital should cursive no longer be taught to the younger generations? Some people believe cursive handwriting is essential to the development of an active mind. Some people believe typing things out as opposed to actually handwriting messages is more beneficial. Where do you stand on this topic? Do you think public schools should teach their students how to write in cursive? Do you think cursive handwriting is becoming obsolete? As with many things taught to the younger generations, there always comes some sort of debate on whether or not the knowledge being distributed is actually beneficial to their developing minds in the long run. Will what the schools are teaching them actually help them in their lives as (hopefully) fully functioning adults? Cursive handwriting and whether or not to remove it permenantly from the educational curriculum has been being tossed back and forth. A survey given to handwriting teachers revealed that only 37% of the handwriting teachers wrote in cursive. It used to be that a persons name written in cursive was an important part of their identity, their literal and figurative signature so to speak, but that is no longer the case. A signature is no longer needed for most legal documents now a days. The use of an electronic signature ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Differences Between Fanon And De Tocqueville Despite the fact that one cannot force a national identity, the drive to mold and create one runs deep in both Fanon s and de Tocqueville s writings. At this point, the differences in background and the purposes of writing between our two authors becomes apparent. De Tocqueville s project with Algeria aims to investigate the best way to colonize with the least detriment to the French. Given that the colonists had already deposed the old government to install their own at the time of his writings, de Tocqueville identifies a few sources of danger for the French in Algeria and proposes a path forward. At the time, the French had plans to unseat a remnant government in Constantine in the east of Algiers and ally with Abd el Kader in the west of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both believe that the identity has to flow from the bottom up (that is to say that it must be based on the desires and cultures of the people), realize that a shared identity is paramount to the security of a nation, and even share the opinion that violence creates new and strengthens old identities. Even moreover, both recognize that one state with two strong national identities cannot be beneficial for all people: de Tocqueville in his analysis of Abd el Kader, and Fanon explicitly writing that the two confront each other, but not in the service of a higher unity... there is no reconciliation possible, one of them is superfluous (Fanon 4). The two only theoretically diverge on the ease of establishing a unified culture. Furthermore, they practically diverge on the end goals of of national identity and the resulting class structure. It clearly follows, then, that the primary difference between Fanon and de Tocqueville s take on national identity stems purely from their respective positions in life, the anti colonialist against the ... • 4. The Shifting Narratee in The Turn of the Screw Essay The Shifting Narratee in The Turn of the Screw In the essay Introduction to the Study of the Narratee, Gerald Prince discusses the interpretative value of thinking about to whom a narrative is addressed. First, he establishes what a zero degree narratee (or possessor of a minimum number of specific narratee characteristics identified by Prince) is and is not: A narratee is not the actual reader, the implied reader, or the ideal reader. The narratee is beholden to the narrator, because, Without the assistance of the narrator, without his explanations and the information supplied by him, the narratee is able neither to interpret the value of an action or to grasp its repercussions (Prince 11). With this definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Douglas plays a key role since he is the caretaker of her written record and of, apparently, their long dead mutual affection. Though at a party full of people who are somewhat interested in the story, Douglas is addressing only one person, the narratee, who happens to be a character in the story. As Douglas s narratee, I fulfills some of Prince s delineated narratee functions: He has roughly the same intellectual capabilities, is in tune with the nuances of Douglas s prepatory remarks, and seems to be the intended recipient of the story at the Christmas party. Douglas appeals to I to fully understand the emotional impact of the story. Different Aspects Of A Disease System DISCUSSION Zoonotic disease systems are complex and difficult to predict because there are a large number of biotic and abiotic variables (Alexander et al. 2012). These variables may include biological, genetic, ecological, environmental, and socio economic factors (Wilcox and Gubler 2005, Estrada Pena et al 2014). However, integrated models can provide crucial insights into the ecological dynamics of a disease system (Plowright et al. 2008), and they can help inform public health interventions and guide public health policies (Leach and Scoones 2013). By simplifying these different aspects of a zoonotic disease system into constrained components that are easier to understand, models can answer specific questions about disease system ... Our MTILG analyses revealed no significant concordance between either species in our study area, suggesting that the movements of mice and ticks across the region are mutually independent. Indeed, a previous study on the population genetics of black legged ticks in southern Quebec had shown that long distance dispersal events likely drive tick movement across the landscape (Leo et al. 2015b). Therefore, examination of tick and mouse distributions across the region should be performed independently. Nonetheless, disease models predicting zoonotic disease emergence that engage a multi species approach will produce more accurate risk projections (Estrada Pena et al. 2014) and so our efforts to model B. burgdorferi emergence simultaneously incorporated both the black legged ticks and the white footed mouse. In addition to host vector pathogen interactions our model also incorporated climate and landscape based parameters. This is because species respond differently to varying conditions and models that focus on using only single predictor variable risk omitting the effects of variables operating at other spatial scales (Raghavan et al. 2013, Riley et al. 2015). Studies on the Lyme disease system in North America have shown that disease transmission risks in any region can be substantially correlated with landscape heterogeneity (Brownstein et al. 2005), ... Before the Baathist coup in 1958 the United States considered Iraq and Saudi Arabia as their principle allies. After the coup, the relationship between the two countries had cooled down considerably and the United States started to view Iraq as another radical and unfriendly nation in the Middle East. Under the directions of the Shah, Iran stood as one of the most important allies of the Middle East for the United State. The Iranian Revolution of 1979 and Cold War politics created another shift in United States foreign policies concerning Iraq8. The United States clearly came down on the side of Iraq during the eight year Iran Iraqi War. The United States military had supplied Iraq with intelligence information to assist in Iraq attacks against Iran.9 The Reagan administration in 1982 took Iraq off of their list of countries which were supporting terrorism, a move that made it possible for Iraq to receive large amounts of resources which could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Despite the fact that there are several versions of the narrative, at times there is one version that is considered more popular than the rest. Many people have this common scenario playing in their heads when thinking about the birth of Jesus, typically including; a barn, farm animals, the holy family, angels, a small town, and wise men. However, it is important for individuals to realize that there is not only one version depicting the Birth Narrative, rather there are two in which both describe the birth of Jesus differently. Two out of the four Gospels in the New Testament that include the Birth Narratives are the Gospel of Luke and the Gospel of Matthew. In both these Gospels, it will become apparent that there are different features in both as well as some similarities which help embody the theme of their respective Gospels. Being known as one of the longest Gospels, the Gospel of Luke is distinctive when compared to the other Synoptic Gospels. However, another important component about this gospel is the birth narrative being mentioned in a story like form as well as various features that differentiate it when compared to the birth narrative in the gospel of Matthew. • 15. The Significance Of The Holy Spirit In The Old Testament In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit is the source of life and creation. The Holy Spirit worked in the lives of men that God placed His Spirit upon such as prophets and kings to perform His service. Therefore, the Holy Spirit was not given universally in the Old Testament but selectively and temporarily for service. However, in the New Testament, the Spirit grants life to God s people and believers are brought to faith, in Jesus, through the sovereign work of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit of God is the driving divine force that assisted God with the creation of the things on the earth. Gen. 1:1 2, (KJV), records the first account of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was without form and void; and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. In addition, Ps. 33:6 records that the Word of the Lord made the heavens and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. After God created the earth as a habitation, He created man in His own image and likeness. In Gen. 2:7, the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living soul. Therefore, the Holy Spirit grants natural life to all human beings. Paul said the spiritual life is not first, but the natural life is, then the spiritual (1 Cor. 15:46). To meet this growing problem king Suleman tried to analyze the problem and declared some policies about the illegal immigrants or people overstaying in the country even after their immigration time has expired. The rule has been so critical and changed the definition of the immigration that people staying in the country after the expiry of their visa will be treated as an illegal immigrant. The police have taken very strong action against the illegal immigrants. This all is done to accommodate their own people in certain jobs so that they can be employed and the illegal activities can be curtailed down. The aim of the policy is to satisfy the local people that the government is worried about their problem and taking action in the right direction. • 25. Internal Validity And External Validity Module 3 Assignment Internal Validity Internal Validity is the inexact truth about derivations with respect to cause impact or causal connections. Along these lines, internal validity is just pertinent in studies that attempt to make a causal relationship. It s not significant in most observational or descriptive studies. One of the things that is most hard to handle about internal validity is that it is just important to the particular study being referred to. That is, you can consider internal validity as a zero generalizability concern. All that internal validity means is that you have confirmed that what you did in the study created what you wanted to happen. It doesn t let you know whether what you accomplished for the study was what you needed to do or whether what you happened was what you needed to happen. Research Scenario: A researcher conducted a study to determine if projecting visual illustrations onto a screen during science class would enhance students understanding of scientific principles. The researcher chose two classes for the study: a biology class and a chemistry class. He told one class that they would get to see color illustrations projected onto a screen. He told the other class that they would be the control group so they would not get the illustrations. Since the chemistry classroom already was technologically equipped, the researcher chose the chemistry class as the one that would see the illustrations. At the end of the semester the ... In the beginning of the 1950 s, the fashion scene was yet again at the forefront of western cultures, perhaps more than ever before. With an economic boom, the decade pushed towards consumerism, a trend that still continues to this day. Once WWII came to an end, rationing became a thing of the past, as the accessibility of various fabrics became the norm. It was during the 50 s that department stores gained popularity, providing access to a wide range of consumer goods from all areas of the world. Having the latest trends was no longer a concept reserved exclusively for the rich, people everywhere shared loved for fashion (Leaper, 2017). The fashion trends that were created during this period reflected femineity by emphasising on the female figure. With many new silhouettes emerging, the era became a time of conformity. Throughout the 50 s, women were expected to look and dress a certain way and many conformed to this established standard of fashion. With husbands returning from the war, American women were again expected to focus on their role as housewives. Conformity among women was highly encouraged, eliminating the need for dramatic styles. The conformity throughout this era highlights the contrast between the independent flappers of the 20s and the conforming women of the 50 s and how far the evolution of women s fashion has travelled. Plenty of times you will have to step up and say, No, this is not up to interpretation . Although your base leadership philosophy should remain the same, you should be able to change your leadership style. From the examples given in the book The Defense of Duffers Drift we see how the leaders ability to read his men, allowed him to disseminate to each subsequent leader his intent. Although the leader did not change his philosophy, he did change his style in order to relay the mission in such a manner that the individual he was addressing was able to accomplish it. Although the battle may not progress as planned, the mission always remains the same. In Flesh Without Blood , the triumphant lead single, her voice never rests, dancing in the verses, fluttering in the pre chorus, and finally exploding: Now I don t care anymore / uncontrollable. Kill V. Maim is another example of a song that would be quite boring without Boucher s relentless experimentation with vocals: her ratty, filtered voice whines the verses, occasionally lapsing into a grotesque scream. Every five seconds, she s changing her melody, her voice, and the instruments around her, and it s all set to a very clearly defined chord progression, one that doesn t have to be beautiful as long as it s catchy. The result is that Art Angels is a grower of an album at first listen, one might only hear a single element of a song, but more and more of Boucher s lovely experiments will leak out with more and more listens. Truly, this album is much more eclectic than Visions, and Boucher pulls off each little genre experiment fantastically, adapting the genres to her style. After carefully overlying their faces, she saw that their facial features aligned. This made her theorize that Leonardo painted himself as a woman ( Scientific Organization, par. 6).
