40 Kos Case Study
Shane Mosley (48 9 1, 40 KOs) seems to be experiencing a kind of nostalgic episode in his life as the
former three division world champion recently declared that he wants to fight arguably the most
popular but olden boxers of the moment: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48 0, 26 KOs), Manny Pacquiao (57
6 2, 38 KOs), Miguel Cotto (40 4, 33 KOs), or Juan Manuel Marquez (56 7 1, 40 KOs), as reported by
Boxing News 24.
Merely hearing the names of these five great boxers felt like looking in a boxing museum, and Mosley
appears to be wanting to re live his glory days after the 43 year old s sixth round knockout win over
fellow aged fighter Ricardo Mayorga just last weekend.

Still, the California native would not concede that his best days are behind him.
I wanted to get in there and prove myself. I want to get a couple of fights and then I want to try for the
world title again, Mosley said, via Bleacher Report. I want to fight Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
I m on that level. I m still on that level.
The former welterweight and light middleweight lineal champion seemed to have copied the Pac Man
s injury excuse as he also claimed that he was injured when he fought Mayweather and Pacquiao in
2010 and 2011 respectively. Mosley lost to both men via 12 round unanimous decisions.
Mosley is one of a handful of veteran boxers today who are attempting at a career comeback at a very
advanced age.
At age 46, former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. had just won his eighth straight match
with a knockout win over unheralded Eric Watkins early this month. He is scheduled to fight again on
September 12 against Briton Tony Moran.

Kiowa s Death In In The Field
Felicity Biddlecome
p.4
2/24/16
Seminar
Question: How does Kiowa s death change some of the characters in the three chapters Speaking of
Courage , Notes , and In The Field ?
Hypothesis: Speaking of Courage gives Bowkers view of Kiowa s death, Notes gives O brien s view,
and In The Field offers the perspective of Kiowa s death from Azar, Bowker, Cross, and an un named
soldier. Kiowa s death amounts to be a huge climax in the novel, Kiowa s gentle, peaceful manner
serves as a foil for many characters and his death affects the men immensely. Norman Bowker feels he
had betrayed his friend, Bowker thinks he was as brave as he could have been, but even that much
bravery wasn t enough to save his friend. ...You weren t a coward either ... Show more content on

Bowker is unable to erase the memory and asks O brien to write his story. Notes tells O brien s view
on Bowker enhanced by the fact that Norman Bowker ended up killing himself ten years after the war.
By working on his story and perfecting it in order to make it carry his feelings about Vietnam and
Bowker and Kiowa, O Brien makes peace with his memories of them. He writes in order to remember
in a way that is not painful. Therefore, he originally leaves Kiowa s death out of Speaking of Courage,
he ends up putting it back in because he realizes it is an essential part of understanding Bowker s
despair of Kiowa s death and realizes that it was a hard subject for him as well afterall. Norman is
back in the story, where he belongs...the central incident our long night in the shit field along the Song
Tra Bong has been restored to the piece. It was hard stuff to write...In the interests of truth, however, I
want to make it clear that Norman Bowker was in no way responsible for what happened to Kiowa.

Reflection Paper On Drills
When I was assigned as the Assistant Convoy Commander, while deployed in Iraq, my duties were
comprised of giving the mission operations brief before convoys, after action reviews (AAR), teaching
battle drills, rollover drills, vehicle recovery, reaction to Improvised Explosive Device (IED), reaction
to small arms fire, and additional weapon maintenance. (11. BNOCC I and Phase II, and ANOCC, and
5. Drill Sergeant School). In battle drills I taught the proper actions to take in different situations for
battle. Rollover drills class consisted of how to basically protect yourself as the vehicle is rolling. This
drill was practiced until it was second nature and consisted of bracing techniques and how to extract
yourself from the rolled vehicle. In vehicle recovery, my soldiers learned how to do combat recovery
of a vehicle in a hostile environment. (12. Combat Action Badge and 14.Bronze Star Medal).
Communication related to the reaction of the IED s include communicating with those in the vehicle,
to check for injuries. If there were injuries we formed a perimeter, secured the area, and called for
medical evacuation. If there were no injuries, we established if the vehicle was okay to drive, checked
with the others in the convoy for injuries and disabled vehicles. My job was ensuring the safety of our
people, and those we were transporting to their destination. Our mission was to keep them out of harm
s way, not to engage, but to keep moving. We only stopped

Vocabulary Acquisition Through Audio-Video Aids
Vocabulary Acquisition through Audio Video Aids
Abstract
With the advancement in computerized technology, there are a great number of advantages using
computers and multimedia for second language instruction. Vocabulary plays an important part in
second language acquisition and academic achievement. The role that vocabulary knowledge plays in
second and foreign language acquisition has long been neglected. However, vocabulary is currently
receiving increased emphasis in the language teaching curriculum. This paper will focus on various
possibilities to enhance vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension with the help of
technology. Furthermore, the variety of media such as text, graphics, audio, and video for delivering ...

Therefore, many universities provide the non English major college students with language labs and
multimedia facilities. The use of communicative strategies seems to suggest that the way of learning
vocabulary does not merely involve memorizing and monotonous practicing, but various other
activities to enhance understanding and usage. Nowadays, CALL and CALT have developed from
traditional ones to web based ones. There are several new features frequently used in CALL and
CALT, including hypertext, hypermedia and multimedia. Hypertext refers to links among textual
items, often indicated by key words set in underlined blue type. Hypermedia refers to similar links as
those used in hypertext, but instead of simply linking text to text, hypermedia involves linking various
media such as sound, images, animation and/or video. Multimedia refers to many of the same ideas
associated with hypermedia, but hypermedia might only use of two types of media (e.g. text+sound or
text+photographs). Multimedia tends to features several media types including text, images, sound,
video and/or animations. Multimedia can promote students vocabulary acquisition for its increasing
students autonomous abilities in learning. It can also lower students awareness of teacher centered

The Perspective On Income And Privilege Essay
I agree with the interactionist perspective. Certain races or ethnicities are advantageous when
obtaining power and privilege. For example, White households have a higher income than non White
Hispanics or Blacks. The data provided on page 82 illustrates the income gap, Black household had
the lowest median income in 2013 ($34,598), non Hispanic White households ($58,270). Median
income for Hispanic households was $40,963 (Leon Guerrero 2016). This data obtained from the U.S.
Census reveals there are differences in income and wealth depending on race. Employment is also
important when discussing wealth. According to the textbook, Blacks and Hispanics have not been
able to achieve the same earnings of level of wealth as White Americans have (Leon Guerrero 2016).
One of the consequences of wealth disparity is lower access of home ownership. As a result of race or
ethnicity people have limited housing options. Leon Guerrero says, Minority groups have been denied
similar access because of structural barriers such as discrimination, low income, and lack of credit
access (2016). This results in a large home ownership gap which allows Whites to own their home as
opposed to the minorities who are denied credit and cannot purchase a home of their choice. Lower
aces to health care and the quality of care once in the system for minority groups are examples of
privilege and power. Depending on race, minorities have less medical care coverage as opposed to non

Cuba is an Island located in the Caribbean Sea (The World Factbook: Cuba,2016). It is located just
south of the US state of Florida (The World Factbook: Cuba,2016). The capital of Cuba is Havana
(The World Factbook: Cuba,2016). Cuba was first a Spanish colony but later become owned by the
United States after the Spanish American War (The World Factbook: Cuba,2016). After being owned
by a foreign power for many years it finally became an independent nation in 1902 (The World
Factbook: Cuba,2016). However, all these years of being foreign owned lead to Cuba being a very
diverse population and culture. Cuba s official language is Spanish and it is considered part of Latin
America (The World Factbook: Cuba,2016). Cuba is currently a one party rule state with the Castro s
in power (The World Factbook: Cuba,2016). Just as An HR manager is needed in every country it is
also needed in Cuba. An HR manager includes many duties such as recruiting staff (Bureau of Labor
Statistics, 2015). It includes conducting the interview with the potential employee if the manager gives
them that task (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2015). HR managers are very knowledgeable about the
rules and regulations that face their company about employees (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2015).
They make sure these rules are being followed by all levels of staff members (Bureau of Labor

Without passage of financial modernization legislation, under existing law Citiwould have to divest its
insurance underwriting activities within two years of the merger (under certain circumstances this
divestiture period could be extended for up to an additional three years). Interestingly, no such
requirement applies to its securities business. When the proposed merger of the Travelers Group
financial giant and banking s Citicorp was announced in April 1998, the news stunned the financial
industry; involving some $76 billion in stock, it was at the time the largest merger in history. For Wall

The Affect of National Culture on Human Resources Essay
INTRODUCTION
In today s business environment, the complexity of international business has increased and
international competition has been highlighted as an essential element for multinational firms
(MNCs). Thus, in order to gain competitive advantage, various resources are utilized, such as financial
capital, technology location or human resource (HR). Moreover, HR could be seemed as one of the
most important resource which has also become a focus of attention of senior managers in MNCs. As
suggested by MacMillan(1984), MNCs can gain competitive advantage through use of HR practice,
such as training, compensation, socialization, selection, performance appraisal and career
development, as long as other firms are unable to duplicate their ... Show more content on

Based on Hofstede s (1993) definition of national culture, it is stated that national culture is the
software of the mind, and it is deeply embedded in everyday life and fairly resistant to change.
Moreover, it is confirmed that national culture has a significant relationship with HR policies and
practice (Hofstede, 1993). Also, Earley (1994) demonstrated that national cultural values that reinforce
HR are more likely to yield predictable behaviour and better performances. This is because a national
culture is usually characterized by the values of the people who belong to that culture, so well HR
practices are consistent with existing behaviour expectations and routines that transcend the
workplace. Employees are not distracted from work if HR practices are consistent with national
cultural value. The various values had been grouped, by Schuler and Jackson (1994), into four
categories, work goal importance, need deficiency, fulfillment, and job satisfaction, managerial and
organizational variables, and work role and interpersonal orientation. Furthermore, Hofstede (1993)
has presented four largely independent dimensions of differences among national values systems,
which were labeled Power Distance , Uncertainty Avoidance, Individualism vs. Collectivism, and
Masculinity vs. Femininity.
1. Power Distance, indicates the extent to which the fact that power is distributed unequally is
accepted in the society by those who do and do not possess power.

Physics Of Water Ride
IT
Have you ever wanted to go on a thrilling water ride with balloons and clowns everywhere? Have you
ever wanted to ride a roller coaster that acts as a mode of transportation and takes you from one place
in the park to another? IT has all of those things including loops, zig zags, sudden turns, sudden drops
and more. This ride begins with an inertia jerk as your sailboat bursts out of the tunnel, stops, and then
suddenly starts again, as everybody gets jolted back in their seat. Early on, the boat will experience it s
highest potential energy as it gradually goes up a hill, and comes down instantly into a tiny loop. Even
on the loop, riders will not get wet at all. Also, the boat experiences centripetal force on the loop. A

Multiple loops and multiple hills finally lead to the average speed of the ride. Then, the big moment of
the ride, takes place at the end, and you ll need to buckle up and ride it to find out it what it is because
I am not going to spoil it. You will experience freefall and terminal velocity at this point on the ride.
Terminal velocity is the highest velocity attainable by an object as it falls through air. You will exit out
of this water ride to the left, as you are now on the other side of the park. The best part about this is,
this ride saves you great deal of time if you have plans to walk to the other side of the park because
this gets you there in under 2 minutes. Your legs also won t be overtaxed and you will be ready to go
for your next adventure. The sailboats continue to ride along back to the front of the ride, so others
waiting in line can enjoy it just as much as you did. Throughout the attraction, there will be various
scenes from the actual movie IT. If you have seen the movie, you will be able to relate to these scenes
and feel the legitimacy of this ride. Even if you haven t seen the movie, you will witness these scenes,
and they will send chills down your spine. Also, there is no height restriction for

The Power of Superstition Essays
The Power of Superstition
A superstition is the belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or
chance, or a false conception of causation. Superstition is also an irrational abject attitude of mind
toward the supernatural, nature, or God or a notion maintained despite evidence to the contrary
(Merriam Webster). Superstitions are the most common relic of the past handed down from the ages.
When where did superstition come from? There is an abundance of superstitions to date.
Basic superstitions can be broken down into three broad categories: Predictive, Causative and
Conversion. Predictive superstitions are when people believe that a particular superstition will predict
an oncoming event. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The history of superstition states that the ladder and ground forms a triangle representing a holy
symbol from Egyptian times or a holy trinity from Christianity, therefore, by walking through the
triangle is denoted as bad luck (Origin).
Throwing salt over your left shoulder is the most known conversion superstition. Throwing salt over
your left shoulder diverts the bad luck; you received when you spilt the salt. This superstition started
in 1881, it states you have spilt salt on the table, and then thrown over your left shoulder the bad luck
is averted (Opie, Tatem 343).
Another common superstition is Friday the 13th. Many reasons exist for why Friday the 13th was
deemed to be unlucky. It is believed to have started at the expelling of Adam Eve from Garden of
Eden. People believe that they were sent from paradise on Friday.
It is also believe that the Noah s flood started and Jesus was crucified on a Friday. It is also known that
there were 13 at the Last Supper when Judas betrayed Jesus. Judas was the thirteenth guest at the table
for the Last Supper (Origin).
Friday is regarded to be the most superstitious day compared to all of the other days of the week.

Bart Ehrman s Definition Of Myth
Bart Ehrman believes the chapter of Genesis is a myth. The term myth has many different definitions
though so let s see what he meant when he said myth. Ehrman s definition of a myth is, a story about
God or gods and their activities, which tries to make sense of the world and our place in it , In Ehrman
s eyes, the book of Genesis (in this case chapters 1 11) is just a story, no more real than the story of
Cinderella. Looking at McCutcheon s list of different definitions of the word myth, I find that Ehrman
s definition best fits with Pre scientific explanations of natural phenomena which basically says that
myths are people trying to explain what they observe around them, their environment. Ehrman
believes that creation is a myth,

Alexander Hamilton Contributions
The final years of his life were riddled with tragedy and pain, his death becoming the most famous
duel in American history. Born between 1755 and 1757 and orphaned at a young age, Alexander
Hamilton climbed the social ranks from a poor immigrant born in the small Caribbean island of Nevis,
to one of the most prominent founding fathers of America. Through several scandals and the harsh
criticisms of his enemies, Hamilton made incredibly important contributions to American history. He
was instrumental in the ratification of the United States Constitution, the establishment of a national
bank, and the formation of a two party system (Federalists and Democratic Republicans), and was also
the first Secretary of Treasury in American history.
One of Hamilton s first friends and mortal enemy, Aaron Burr was nearly the complete opposite of
him. He was born to a wealthy family from New Jersey in 1756. As intellectually gifted as Hamilton,
he graduated from the College of New Jersey (now known as Princeton) when he was 17. They were
good friends for a while, until their friendship was torn apart by their conflicting political pursuits.
1790: Burr defeats Hamilton s father in law in battle for senate seat.
1796: Burr runs for vice presidency on Jefferson s Democratic Republican ticket. Hamilton begins
public attacks on him. Saw Burr as a dangerous opportunist .

Essay On Sacred Heart Vs Notre Dame Hockey Game
On Thursday, October 19, I attended the Sacred Heart versus Notre Dame hockey game. I have
previously attended hockey games at Compton Family Ice Arena both in and out of the student
section. However, this experience was slightly different than my previous ones since many students
were still away for fall break. The lack of students created a much different atmosphere especially
because at Notre Dame Hockey games the crowd tends to feed off the excitement of students. This
was obvious during certain songs such as Turn Down for What by DJ Snake and Lil Jon which elicits
strong responses from students but created little excitement minus the students. However, the crowd
did feed off the band. The crowd joined in during let s go Irish ... Show more content on

The first was the constant matchup graphic on the ribbon board as I found the animation kind of
distracting throughout the game. It would be helpful if the players on the ice were shown with their
statistics similar to the way it is done at both men s and women s basketball games, however, I also
understand that may be unrealistic in hockey since there are such quick line changes. Another possible
area of improvement is the intro video. It felt very generic compared to the ones that I m used to
seeing for Notre Dame sports. Unlike this year s intro videos at volleyball (which features team
expectations matched with player highlights) and football (which focuses on the excellence and
tradition of the program), the only words in the hockey intro video were what a hit and takes a shot
which seem like placeholders for something more. Since this team did reach the Frozen Four last year,
I expected the intro video to build on last year s excellence or how they succeeded despite having one
of the lowest seeds in the tournament. Another big aspect of in game entertainment at hockey is the
intermissions. At this game, the first intermission was filled by a youth hockey league playing. I really
enjoyed watching all the little kids play hockey. It involved the community and created positive
memories for the kids and their parents. The second intermission was used for the Slap Shot contest.
The Slap Shot contest is always fun and really engages the

Secondary School Vs. Vocational Education
Although most secondary school systems maintain a distinction between academic and vocational
education, to vocationalize or not to vocationalize the secondary school has been a persistent question
in many educational systems, especially in developing countries (Holsinger Cowell, 2000; Lauglo
Maclean, 2006; Psacharopoulos, 1987). On the one hand, from a developmental perspective, the
advocates of vocational secondary education perceive it as a way to develop human capital for
economic development and provide students with better chances to compete in the labour market
(Brunello Checci, 2007; Gallart, 2001; Meer, 2007; Miranda, 2005; Shavit Muller, 2000). On the other
hand, the stratification of educational systems between a higher curriculum (general secondary school)
and a lower curriculum (vocational secondary school) has been deemed to be a source of inequality in
the distribution of education opportunities (Kerckhoff, 2001). Students in the vocational schools
typically come from low socio economic strata (Larrañaga, Cabezas, Dussaillant, 2014;
Psacharopoulos Loxley, 1985). At the same time, studies show that vocational secondary schools may
prevent low income students from further training beyond secondary education because they do not
develop the skills required for tertiary education (Brunello Checci, 2007; FarĂas Carrasco, 2012;
Holm, Meier, Bernt Karlson, Reimer, 2013; Malamud Pop Eleches, 2008; Shavit Muller, 2000). In

Peter Singer s The Singer Solution To World Poverty
The Declaration of Independence guarantees everyone the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness. In many ways, those inalienable rights are tied into many aspects of the stereotypical
American lifestyle. There is the idea of the American Dream, consisting of a nuclear family living in a
nice house with a white picket fence, a well cared for lawn, and a car in the driveway. As we all know
this is a very atypical scenario for most of the planet. According to DoSomething.org, more than three
billion people live on less than $2.50 a day, with 1.3 billion of those people living in extreme poverty,
characterized by extreme poverty (less than $1.25 a day) ( 11 Facts About Global Poverty |
Dosomething.Org | Volunteer For Social Change ). With such a large economical gap shouldn t people
feel more compelled to act up and donate money to a cause? This is the question that author Peter
Singer explores in his essay The Singer Solution to World Poverty, with entails people being radically
philanthropic, giving away all money that isn t used on necessities. While this method seems like the
most charitable course to take, humans enjoy luxuries and do not care for everyone equally. There are
many moral dilemmas in which there is a deviation from what is right in the utilitarian point of view
and the morals that current society holds.
While it is important to look at Singer s specific argument, it is also important to take a step back and
look at where he is

An Imperfect World Torn Apart By William Buck s Version...
In an imperfect world torn apart by religious wars, cultural differences, and a more recent social
disconnect, perpetuated by the rise of technology which has helped to isolated individuals rather than
globally unite them, it becomes apparent that evil is prevailing. It appears as though the modern
individual has reason to fear the other , rejecting those different from their selves. Such demonization
and aggression towards one another has allowed the evils of the world or Ravana to arise. Never
before have people needed a reason to believe in a figure who could help rid the world of corruption,
greed, desire, and ego created by Ravana, more than they do now. In William Buck s version of the

perfect wife, telling Rama, I am a fair free woman, I surrender to you of my own will, command me
anything (365). Sita s act of faithfulness and Rama s acceptance in taking her back displays the
Dharma practice of honesty, which in the Hindu sense means the love of what is true. Sita s honesty is
not only highlighted as a characteristic of the perfect being but her truthfulness sets an example for
future generations of women as to what constitutes the excellent quality for respectability of a women
in Hindu society. Similarly, the Dharma practice of honesty in a loving relationship establishes the
perfect man and woman.

“New Hampshire” By Robert Frost
Robert Frost s New Hampshire is not only is one of his longest poems but it also shows many different
ideas that Frost may have had during his time in New Hampshire. The ideas presented in this poem
range from poem styles to differences between states, advantages of being in New Hampshire, and
even glimpses into the life of Robert Frost. The differences between the states Frost describes is
obvious in this poem. Frost [switches] back and forth between people the speaker has met and the
conclusions he has drawn about them, (Fagan) and each of people are described as being from a
different state, representing that state. Frost first describes meeting a lady from the South who said/.../

in the United States. Frost debases the poet by describing him as being full of fluid inspiration and
then clearly stating fluid inspiration as being alcohol. Frost s next line shows a clearer image of this
poet when Frost describes the poet s actions as being done angrily, giving the reader the since that the

Ontologies Used In Paper-Omics
In recent years, there has been an explosion of available data as the medical field has moved from
paper based to electronic health records (EHR), along with other big data sources such as digital
imaging, genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. To make this vast amount of data clinically useful
and to support in depth analysis to understand the molecular basis of diseases, methods and tools are
required that accurately integrate and link omics data with clinical information (1).
Phenotype is defined as the morphological, physiological and behavioral characteristics of an
individual while genotype is an individual s entire genetic makeup (2, 3). A phenotype terminology is
a catalog of specific signs, symptoms, imaging findings, and other ... Show more content on

The Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) facilitates the study of disease phenotype relationships (5 7).
The goal of the HPO is to provide accurate and precise clinical descriptions of diseases and yield
valuable clues to the molecular pathophysiology of a given patient (6, 8, 9). They are especially
important in cases of rare and undiagnosed diseases where clinical experts may use different terms to
describe similar clinical phenotypes (10).
The construction of ontologies requires content expertise and continuous accrual of new knowledge,
which is challenging to incorporate in a timely manner. The comprehensiveness of ontology in a given
domain is crucial for its usefulness. Thus, there is a need for systems that can effectively and
efficiently provide an assessment of domain coverage and potential new content for inclusion. One of
these mechanisms includes exploiting the information found in biomedical resources like published
literature and EHRs. Electronic health records have several advantages for use in phenotyping such as
cost efficiency and the availability of large amounts of clinical and temporal information (11).
Although structured data, such as International Classification of Disease (ICD) codes, are useful
controlled vocabularies, they are limited in detail as they are designed to facilitate medical billing. On
the other hand, the unstructured clinical data (e.g. consult notes, history and physical notes, discharge
summaries, and pathology reports) are rich in

Similarities Between Fahrenheit 451 And Minority Report
While there are many comparable characters between the story and the film, the most prominent
similarities are with Jon Anderton and Guy Montag. For example, both men had government jobs in
the beginning that they both deemed was respectable , but in the end had betrayed to follow their own
free will. In Fahrenheit 451 , Guy s wife Mildred had turned him in after an incident regarding her and
her friends, while similarly in Minority Report , Jon s ex wife Lara had informed Burgess of Jon s
arrival in secret. Beatty and Lamar Burgess are also comparable, as they both were leaders of an
association that was intended to prevent an action even though they both committed the crimes, and
they both died at the hands of the protagonist.

While Anderton s original struggle was to prove his innocence, he quickly finds the error in pre crime
and tries to correct it. It s his knowledge that creates this conflict in the first place. In Fahrenheit 451 ,
Montag s main dilemma circulates around the tension concerning knowledge and ignorance. In the
beginning, it was his duty as a Fireman to extinguish the knowledge that books enclosed and indorse
ignorance in order to equalize the population and promote evenness. It isn t until he encounters
Clarisse that he suddenly [realizes he] didn t like [the fireman] at all, and [he] didn t like [himself] at

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Moisturizer
Does Moisturizers help to brighten your dull complexion?
Overview
Yes moisturizer has the ability to brighten any dull skin as long as the affected takes the procedures
serious. There are so many varieties of moisturizer of which some give the same results while others
have different impacts. Make use of your dermatologist who will lead you through the best
moisturizer to use in order to brighten your skin. Do not rush to any product you find working well on
your friend since you have different skin types that react different on certain products. It is advisable
to clear off dull skin in order to look beautiful but, if you have a sensitive skin do not try moisturizers
which contain chemicals. There are those natural moisturizers that have no ... Show more content on

Avoid being too harsh i.e. use of harsh detergents and scrubs which end up injuring your skin and
leave marks. Use gentle detergents, soft towel and some cool water to give your skin easy time while
cleaning. Use warm water to rinse and dry with a soft clean face towel. Avoid drying your face with
the same towel you used to dry the rest of your body since it will spread infections to your face which
is very sensitive. You can also dry your face by gently tapping it using your hands and the use a
moisturizer of your choice. In case your skin reacts to the chemical moisturizers make use of the
naturally made moisturizers. They help in brightening the dull skin.
Poor diet
There is no healing process involving the human body that can succeed while the concerned party is
feeding poorly. Balanced diets always boost anybody process especially the skin healing process.
Ensure that you include lots of vegetables and fruits to boost skin reformation i.e. creation of new cells
and elimination of dead cells. During this process the clogged skin pore are able to open up leading to
reduction of the dry and dull skin. The moisturizer comes in as a catalyst before you sleep to enable
speed up the process of skin lightening.

Difference Between Containers And Container
Containers: LITERATURE SURVEY
Container is an operating system level virtualization environment, which is used to run a number of
isolated systems on a single control host. Linux containers are built on the concept of kernel
namespaces. Namespaces are used to create an isolated container that has no visibility or access to
objects outside the container. Processes running inside the container appear to be running on a normal
Linux system although they are sharing the underlying kernel with processes located in other
namespaces. There are two main types of containers:
1. System container This container acts like a full fledged OS and runs OS processes like init, syslogd
etc.
2. Application container This container runs a single application and uses limited resources.
Both these types of containers are useful in different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This advantage of containers over VM s plays a significant role in optimizing use of resources
especially when the host OS is highly hardware intensive. As a result of this more number of

My Experience In Poetry
A few years ago, I found myself at a local coffee shop for a poetry slam. It was around the same time
that I was trying to come to terms with life without my grandmother. She had been in the hospital for
quite a long time, and I was surprised I found even a moment to show up to the poetry slam between
my regular visits to the hospital, school, and other commitments. Nevertheless, I still found myself
before the coffee shop entrance. The aroma and warmth from the inside were compelling, but I still
hesitated. I had on a sweater and a jacket, but they were not quite enough. I shivered as I nervously
entered to shop, my poem clinched in the numbness of my hand. I had prepared a poem as a final
goodbye to my grandmother, but I felt like I needed it to be recited for practice before I read it to her.
Part of me still hoped that I would not have to read it to her at all. I found the nearest empty seat and
waited anxiously for my turn to read my poem. When my name was called my heart falls to the floor,
the paper in my hand quivered loudly, and the room was quiet enough to hear it. I paced toward the
stage and introduced myself and the title of the poem once I got there. Then I began to read. At first I
spoke with your basic monotonic I m frightened style of presentation, but I choke up. I have to pause
for a second because there s no way I could continue without crying out every word on the page. I
began to almost scream the words: Ask someone how they feel about death,

Theme Of Voices In The City By Anita Desai
Abstract:
Unlike other women novelists, Anita Desai concentrates on the exploration of sensibility, that too
feminine sensibility by probing deep into the inner life of a woman. Desai reigns supreme in her
fictional world by focusing attention towards the quest inward and concentrating on the still grimmer
and more harrowing presentation of Indian life. In fact all her characters are sensitive, solitary and
hyper introspective. Her fiction balances itself delicately on the fringes between things and awareness
of things, between chaos and order of mind. Her primary interest lies in exploring the disturbed depths
of the female psyche. . The most prominent feature of her fiction is her mode of individualizing the
character. She is preoccupied primarily with the portrayal of women protagonists as living in a ...

Apocalypse Now Comparison
Parallels Between Conrad s Heart of Darkness and Coppola s Apocalypse Now
Apocalypse Now is a very vivid and sometimes disturbing film centered on the Vietnam War. Because
it was based on Joseph Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness, it is possible to draw some parallels
between the two. Both can be interpreted as metaphors for a journey through the inner self, and each
has its own singular message to convey. Apocalypse Now very perspicuously depicts the fact that men
have hearts of darkness, and it explores the evils of war. At the same time, however, it seemingly
glorifies some aspects. The anti war sequences were often brutal and portrayed destruction as a result
of the human condition. The film Apocalypse Now, directed by ... Show more content on

While it turned out that Willard s actions were not a result of scripting they were Martin Sheen s own
actions in a drunken stupor they worked well for portraying Willard s psychological state after his first
run in Vietnam. The combination of the song aptly titled, as the scenes portray widespread destruction
and inner turmoil and the visuals of war serve to set the stage for the depiction of the destructiveness
of war and the effects it has on mankind.
Another of the firmly anti war statements in the film was made as Willard and his crew were traveling
down the Nung River. The crew came upon a small boat with a few native Vietnamese on board, and
Chief, the boat s commander, ordered a search. After spending so much time in Vietnam, the natural
response for him upon seeing Vietnamese people was to assume that they were undercover Vietcong
soldiers. The search was futile, however, as there was nothing incriminating on board the ship, and the
natives appeared to be obvious innocents. Chef, who had been ordered to conduct the search, was
already strained from the things he had seen in Vietnam and was aggressive in his inspection. He
threw the natives possessions, mostly vegetation, around the boat and overboard. The natives had
come to expect such behavior from Americans, and had hidden their prized possession in a canister
near the hull of the boat. As Chef made his way toward the canister,

Public School Vs. Home Schooling System
In society, people have their own techniques of teaching and learning. Parents have their own
preference on whether they want their children in a public school or home schooling system. They
have to look at the advantages and disadvantages that come with making the right choice for their
child s education. Being home schooled, does not give the child the ability to be around new people.
Some parents cannot afford for their child to be home schooled, and choose to have them enrolled in
public school. Having students in a public school has a better learning aspect and more affordable.
Parents have to look at the optimistic choices that come out of their child attending a Public school.
Public school is a place for students to interact and communicate with their peers. Students learn how
to act with their friends, either in a negative or positive manner. They have to learn to associate with a
diverse culture of people. Children have to understand different personalities because everyone is not
the same. Parents have to be willing to let a child go out and find their personality and some freedom.
A public school offers advanced learning and skills for children of all ages and disabilities. Public
school allows students to have full attention and extra help from their teacher. Especially if the child is
having problems at home, they have another adult person they can look to for help. They are given
counselors that are specialized to assist students with their difficulty either

the deal with the Commission, struck in late November 2012, Glencore also committed not to enter
into any other commercial arrangements with Nyrstar for ten years. The clearance came despite the
concerns expressed by the European Steel Association (EUROFER), whose members purchase much
of the commodity grade zinc traded in Europe for use as corrosion resistant coatings (galvanizing) in

Quality Of Life Analysis
Quality of life With more than 500 million Americans diagnosed with Alzheimer s, the quality of their
life with the disease is predictable. There are different stages of the disease that range from mild,
moderate, and severe. A person with the mild form of the disease could experience finding the right
word during conversations difficult, forgetting the names of new acquaintances, and difficulty
planning and organizing. A severe form would cause the patient to be confused and unaware of their
environment and surroundings. They would need assistance on activities of daily living, have trouble
recognizing common faces, struggle to remember personal details, as well as wandering. These severe
cases lead to losing the ability to communicate and in the end death. Mrs. F knew the fate of her

Diffusion Is The Net Movement Essay
NAME: Partrice Davis (Isata Sheriff, Marianne Fafana, Binta Bojang)
TITLE: Dye Diffusion
INTRODUCTION Diffusion is the net movement in which molecules of a substance move from a
various area of high concentration to more substances of lower concentration. Properties of diffusion
is the speed of diffusion is influenced by the size of molecule and temperature. The rate of diffusion
will depend on the ability of the diffusing molecule to dissolve in the lipid bilayer of the membrane.
The rate of diffusion across a membrane is directly proportional to the surface area of the membrane.
Diffusion is often referred to as the net motion of particles from areas of high concentration to areas of
low concentration. The solute is a substance that can be dissolved in a mixture or solution usually in
smaller amounts. Factors that would affect the rate consist of the size of the gradient, molecule size,
electric charge, lipid solubility, temperature, and the presence of membrane channel proteins.
Substances involved in diffusion include gas, small organic ions, and molecules, and lipid soluble
materials. Simple diffusion is the unsupported transport across a plasma membrane of the lipid
soluble. Certain particles like alcohol, fatty acids, and steroids are able to enter cells easily because
they can diffuse through the lipid portion of the membrane. Lipid soluble drugs such as oxygen,
carbon dioxide, and water may be able to enter and leave the cells by diffusing through the

For this reason, they ask them the questionnaire about their lifestyle.
Results: The control group had a mean telomere length of 6140.43±175.67 base pairs while the
experimental group had a mean length of 5171.74±145.39 base pairs. Therefore, the null hypothesis is
rejected. However, the questionnaire given to both groups revealed other significant differences. The
schizophrenics had less education and less routine exercise; they had more medical conditions,
smoked more and more likely to live alone; and overwhelming majorities of them were unemployed,
single, and received welfare. Yet there was not a difference in BMI and alcohol consumption.
Conclusions: There is a difference in telomere length between those with and without schizophrenia.
Despite the other differences, they concluded that those would have no or negligible effects on
telomere length.
Justification: They got the data and they got the math. I learned about standard error of the mean in
PDBIO. There is no overlap between the control and experimental means plus or minus the SEMs.
There s about a 1000 base pair difference when with SEMs of only 145 and 175 base pairs. Ultimately,
the scientists got what they tested for. What could potentially discredit these numbers is the major
differences between the groups. The ones they have given in the data are significant, but do not effect
telomere size. However, they mention that there were a

from 15 to 19 ( About Teen Pregnancy ). This raises the question: why is the number of pregnancies so
high? Is the reason for that unsettling high, number because abstinence only is being taught or
contraceptive use is being taught? Students who are taught abstinence only are more likely to wait to

Many think that teaching students about contraceptives will reduce teenagers from having unplanned
pregnancies. Research confirms that education provided by Planned Parenthood, which teaches
contraceptive use, helps increase the use of contraceptives and condoms when students do become
sexually active (Neering). This means that they stress the use of condoms over the idea of waiting.
What happens when condoms or birth control fail? The curriculum of abstinence only believes that
teaching contraceptive use just encourages teenagers to become sexually active (ProQuest). According
to the Center of Disease Control, waiting lowers the risk of unintended pregnancy and sexually
transmitted diseases ( Sex Ed Must Stress Value of Abstinence. ). If they are not in the situation of
possibly having sex, then they do not face having an unplanned pregnancy. Kane 3
Overall, sex education in U.S. schools should remain abstinence only curriculum. Abstinence only
curriculum teaches students to wait to have sex. On the other hand, people believe that contraceptive
use curriculum will teach students to have less unprotected sex. This leaves the possibility of the
contraceptive failing, and having unplanned pregnancy. Abstinence only curriculum teaches students
that waiting is the best option for a good, healthy

it, the walls were already showing himself as a teenager that was thirteen years old. Mason kept
watching his memories on the walls play his life before his eyes. Mason was so mesmerized that he
didn t even realize the cave was filling up with water.
He had reached the point where he was seeing himself in the cave watching the memories. Soon, as he
was only 24 years old, the walls showed memories that were from when he seemed to be thirty. After
realizing that the memories he was seeing were memories he didn t experience yet, he thought,

Collaboration in My Home Group
My Contribution Paper Collaboration consists of a few fundamental components such as the
willingness to listen and learn from each other, sharing one s own ideas and perspectives, having
respect for each other, working together to achieve a common goal, and being responsible for the self
and the whole group. A group has to collaborate in order to deliberate and achieve their common goal
because the three phases of deliberation: information gathering, decision making, and reflection, all
refer back to the ability to collaborate with each other. While working in a group, group members
should always work toward the goal of becoming a good leader, a person who makes the groups she or
he works in better (Practice Deliberation as Citizenship, Gene Edgar) by being a responsible and
respectful group member, and also being someone who is willing to go the extra miles to make sure
everyone in the group is feeling comfortable presenting their ideas in the group. While working in my
Home group this quarter, we have came up with a few norms, such as do not interrupt when someone
else is talking, be accepting of everyone s opinion, debate ideas not people, help each other, be
responsible for one s own assigned roles and tasks, give everyone a chance to talk and participate, be
flexible when doing group work, try to be on time, try to participate in each discussion topic, and be
prepared before class. All of these norms tied back to the fundamental components of collaboration
that

Submerged Radial Gates With A Sill
Hydraulics of Submerged Radial Gates with a Sill
Abstract
In this paper the submerged flow through radial gates with and without a gate sill was experimentally
investigated. The effect of different gate sill heights on contraction coefficient, discharge coefficient,
submerged jump length, backup water depth, flow energy dissipation, and velocity distribution with
different hydraulic parameters were analyzed and graphically presented. A combination of
dimensional and regression analysis tools was employed to develop reliable formulas for estimating
the studied parameters. This paper concluded the negative influence of sills under submerged radial
gates and justified the local scour phenomena occurred immediately downstream the stilling basin of
some existing submerged radial gates with a gate sill in Egypt.
Keywords: Radial gate; gate sill; submerged flow characteristics; submerged hydraulic jump; velocity
field.
1. Introduction
Radial (tainter) gates are among the most common features of water control structures in many
irrigation networks overall the world. They are employed to regulate both water level and flow
discharge in irrigation canals. Radial gates are preferred over vertical sluice gates for several
advantages. They require smaller hoisting force, have easier operation, produce lower flow
disturbance, and provide better discharge (Sehgal 1996). The flow through radial gates is classified as
either free flowing or submerged depending upon the tailwater depth and

Life s Life
Let me ask you a question.
Are you working to live, or living to work?
There was a study done, a hospital study on 100 elderly people facing death close to their last breath.
They were asked to reflect about their life s biggest regret.
Nearly all of them said they regretted not the things they did but the things they didn t do.
The chances they never took, because they were too scared, too tired, too busy, too broke.
Studies show that you will spend 92 120 hours of your life, working.
Let me say that again... you will spend 92 120 hours of your life, working.

The footage included in the ad encompasses the undiscovered aspects of Australia, many of which are
natural. Opening with the ocean, our largest source to attract tourists, gentle waves can be heard. It
then shows a woman looking out over a view of Cape Schanck, and a relaxing beat begins to play as
we are shown the breathtaking view, creating a desire by the audience, to be there and experience it
firsthand. We circle a rock, gradually zooming out to a birds eye view of the vast blue sea,
symbolising that there is so much more about Australia, people have yet to experience. The footage
then swaps to show a green rainforest, a sunset, ocean, grass, sky, Australia s natural beauty capturing
the audience s attention. An uplifting beat grows louder, as we then swap to footage of people doing
the variety of activities and unique experiences we offer. Things such as a walk along the beach,
sandboarding, a slide into a lake, a step into Aboriginal culture, the city and the surf or simply the fact
that you can go anywhere in thongs. The range of activities appeals to our large target audience, as
something for everyone, no matter the age. We follow a group of friends as they walk out into the
beach, then change to a birds eye view of the group and then zoom out to see the gorgeous
Whitsundays beach. The beat drops as we switch Mumbulla Falls and a GoPro sliding down the rocks
into the creek, giving our audience an adrenalin

The First Table In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried
Instead of explaining my tables in numerical order according to table number, I m going to go off the
order I came up with them. The first table that I pieced together was the band of outsiders. All of the
people who sit at this table don t quite fit in; each one of them possesses a quality that makes them
definitively stand out. The table I m talking about is table number one. The first person that I chose to
be part of this table was The Invisible Man from the eponymously titled book by Ralph Ellison. From
the famous first line of the novel, I am an invisible man, it s clear to the reader that T.I.M. doesn t fit in
(3). Throughout the story, T.I.M. frantically goes from situation to situation trying to figure out where
and how he fits in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, Kurtz is through and through crazy, but he s the man that none
of his peers presume would be broken by the jungle. Kurtz throws caution to the wind and pretty much
defects and does what he pleases. I think that Rinehart would respect a man like Kurtz because
Rinehart does it all and doesn t let anyone, let alone society, dictate his action. T.I.M. categorizes
Rinehart as a fraud, because of his capacity to play so many roles (384). Maybe Rine could give Kurtz
a few tips about successfully maintaining a few different realities and personas. I decided to add Rat
Kiley to this table because he could put up with all the crazy tales that the other men at his table have
to tell. He also has a breakdown, like Kurtz s but not quite as drastic, after the nightlife gets to him.
His hallucinations of bugs all over saying These pictures in my head, they won t quit...at night the
pictures get to be a bitch. I start seeing my own body. Chunks of myself...I swear, it s too much. I can t
keep seeing myself dead (148). These three are captivating characters on their own but between their
hallucinations and willingness/drive to be do what they want be it start a cult in Africa, simultaneously
be a bootlegger and a preacher or get the hell out of the war by shooting oneself in the foot these three
would sure make one hell of a

Laboratory Techniques and Measurements Lab 1
The purpose of this lab was for the student to get involved with his or hers new lab kit as well as being
able to know, identify and use each other tools provided in the kit. Another key learning aspect of this
lab is to teach the student how to measure properly the many units in the SI system. I will be using
laboratory dilutions, measurements, and weights to then calculate using algebraic formula.
Throughout lab one we were introduced to many different forms of measurement, whether its using a
ruler too measure length, a digital scale to measure weight, and also many different sized and shaped
flasks to measure different volumes. Another key measurement of this lab was to teach the ... Show

This lab is all about measurements and recording them properly. The lab first introduces to use the
measurement of centimeters, millimeters, and meters to measure different household objects in our
everyday life. We were given the task to use the provided ruler and measure a CD, key, spoon, and a
fork in centimeters and then convert our findings to give us the appropriate units of millimeters and
meters for each object required in the exercise.
Data Table 1: Length measurements. | Object | Length (cm) | Length (mm) | Length (m) | CD or DVD |
12cm | 120mm | . .12m | Key | 5.5cm | 55mm | 0.055m | Spoon | 15cm | 150mm | .15m | Fork | 18cm |
180mm | .18m |
Lab 1 also teaches us the importance of molecular weight of a substance and how to use that to find
the amount of moles of that substance in a solution. For example; in exercise 3 we were asked to
weigh 8 grams of sugar and then calculate how many moles of sugar it really was. Using the
molecular weight of sugar (C = 12.01 grams/mol, H = 1.008 grams/mole, O = 15.00 grams/mole). We
were then able to use this molecular mass of the sugar that we then had to use to calculate and
determine the molarity of the sugar

Kiowa s Death In In The Field Felicity Biddlecome p.4 2/24/16 Seminar Question: How does Kiowa s death change some of the characters in the three chapters Speaking of Courage , Notes , and In The Field ? Hypothesis: Speaking of Courage gives Bowkers view of Kiowa s death, Notes gives O brien s view, and In The Field offers the perspective of Kiowa s death from Azar, Bowker, Cross, and an un named soldier. Kiowa s death amounts to be a huge climax in the novel, Kiowa s gentle, peaceful manner serves as a foil for many characters and his death affects the men immensely. He writes in order to remember in a way that is not painful. Therefore, he originally leaves Kiowa s death out of Speaking of Courage, he ends up putting it back in because he realizes it is an essential part of understanding Bowker s despair of Kiowa s death and realizes that it was a hard subject for him as well afterall. • 8. The Perspective On Income And Privilege Essay I agree with the interactionist perspective. Certain races or ethnicities are advantageous when obtaining power and privilege. For example, White households have a higher income than non White Hispanics or Blacks. The data provided on page 82 illustrates the income gap, Black household had the lowest median income in 2013 ($34,598), non Hispanic White households ($58,270). Median income for Hispanic households was $40,963 (Leon Guerrero 2016). This data obtained from the U.S. Census reveals there are differences in income and wealth depending on race. Employment is also important when discussing wealth. According to the textbook, Blacks and Hispanics have not been able to achieve the same earnings of level of wealth as White Americans have (Leon Guerrero 2016). One of the consequences of wealth disparity is lower access of home ownership. As a result of race or ethnicity people have limited housing options. Leon Guerrero says, Minority groups have been denied similar access because of structural barriers such as discrimination, low income, and lack of credit access (2016). This results in a large home ownership gap which allows Whites to own their home as opposed to the minorities who are denied credit and cannot purchase a home of their choice. Lower aces to health care and the quality of care once in the system for minority groups are examples of privilege and power. Based on Hofstede s (1993) definition of national culture, it is stated that national culture is the software of the mind, and it is deeply embedded in everyday life and fairly resistant to change. Moreover, it is confirmed that national culture has a significant relationship with HR policies and practice (Hofstede, 1993). Also, Earley (1994) demonstrated that national cultural values that reinforce HR are more likely to yield predictable behaviour and better performances. This is because a national culture is usually characterized by the values of the people who belong to that culture, so well HR practices are consistent with existing behaviour expectations and routines that transcend the workplace. Employees are not distracted from work if HR practices are consistent with national cultural value. The various values had been grouped, by Schuler and Jackson (1994), into four categories, work goal importance, need deficiency, fulfillment, and job satisfaction, managerial and organizational variables, and work role and interpersonal orientation. Furthermore, Hofstede (1993) has presented four largely independent dimensions of differences among national values systems, which were labeled Power Distance , Uncertainty Avoidance, Individualism vs. Collectivism, and Masculinity vs. Femininity. 1. Superstitions are the most common relic of the past handed down from the ages. When where did superstition come from? There is an abundance of superstitions to date. Born between 1755 and 1757 and orphaned at a young age, Alexander Hamilton climbed the social ranks from a poor immigrant born in the small Caribbean island of Nevis, to one of the most prominent founding fathers of America. Through several scandals and the harsh criticisms of his enemies, Hamilton made incredibly important contributions to American history. He was instrumental in the ratification of the United States Constitution, the establishment of a national bank, and the formation of a two party system (Federalists and Democratic Republicans), and was also the first Secretary of Treasury in American history. One of Hamilton s first friends and mortal enemy, Aaron Burr was nearly the complete opposite of him. He was born to a wealthy family from New Jersey in 1756. It would be helpful if the players on the ice were shown with their statistics similar to the way it is done at both men s and women s basketball games, however, I also understand that may be unrealistic in hockey since there are such quick line changes. Another possible area of improvement is the intro video. It felt very generic compared to the ones that I m used to seeing for Notre Dame sports. Unlike this year s intro videos at volleyball (which features team expectations matched with player highlights) and football (which focuses on the excellence and tradition of the program), the only words in the hockey intro video were what a hit and takes a shot which seem like placeholders for something more. Since this team did reach the Frozen Four last year, I expected the intro video to build on last year s excellence or how they succeeded despite having one of the lowest seeds in the tournament. • 18. Secondary School Vs. Vocational Education Although most secondary school systems maintain a distinction between academic and vocational education, to vocationalize or not to vocationalize the secondary school has been a persistent question in many educational systems, especially in developing countries (Holsinger Cowell, 2000; Lauglo Maclean, 2006; Psacharopoulos, 1987). On the one hand, from a developmental perspective, the advocates of vocational secondary education perceive it as a way to develop human capital for economic development and provide students with better chances to compete in the labour market (Brunello Checci, 2007; Gallart, 2001; Meer, 2007; Miranda, 2005; Shavit Muller, 2000). On the other hand, the stratification of educational systems between a higher curriculum (general secondary school) and a lower curriculum (vocational secondary school) has been deemed to be a source of inequality in the distribution of education opportunities (Kerckhoff, 2001). Students in the vocational schools typically come from low socio economic strata (Larrañaga, Cabezas, Dussaillant, 2014; Psacharopoulos Loxley, 1985). At the same time, studies show that vocational secondary schools may prevent low income students from further training beyond secondary education because they do not develop the skills required for tertiary education (Brunello Checci, 2007; FarĂas Carrasco, 2012; Holm, Meier, Bernt Karlson, Reimer, 2013; Malamud Pop Eleches, 2008; Shavit Muller, 2000). In many ways, those inalienable rights are tied into many aspects of the stereotypical American lifestyle. There is the idea of the American Dream, consisting of a nuclear family living in a nice house with a white picket fence, a well cared for lawn, and a car in the driveway. As we all know this is a very atypical scenario for most of the planet. According to DoSomething.org, more than three billion people live on less than $2.50 a day, with 1.3 billion of those people living in extreme poverty, characterized by extreme poverty (less than $1.25 a day) ( 11 Facts About Global Poverty | Dosomething.Org | Volunteer For Social Change ). With such a large economical gap shouldn t people feel more compelled to act up and donate money to a cause? This is the question that author Peter Singer explores in his essay The Singer Solution to World Poverty, with entails people being radically philanthropic, giving away all money that isn t used on necessities. While this method seems like the most charitable course to take, humans enjoy luxuries and do not care for everyone equally. There are many moral dilemmas in which there is a deviation from what is right in the utilitarian point of view and the morals that current society holds. Such demonization and aggression towards one another has allowed the evils of the world or Ravana to arise. Never before have people needed a reason to believe in a figure who could help rid the world of corruption, greed, desire, and ego created by Ravana, more than they do now. The accounts of honesty practiced in Dharma appear first when Sita proves her faithfulness to her husband Rama. Following the death of Ravana, Rama renounces Sita assuming that because she has lived in another man s house she has committed adultery. In order to maintain her honor Sita jumps into a funeral pyre, customary for the widows of Hindu aristocrats, and commits suicide. However, because she is pure the fire god, Agni, rejects her asserting that Sita has not the smallest fault, and she is innocent. Lakshmi of good fortune is your wife, and she loves you and returns her back Rama who is now convinced of her innocence (Buck 364). Reunited with her husband, Sita demonstrates the perfect wife, telling Rama, I am a fair free woman, I surrender to you of my own will, command me anything (365). Sita s act of faithfulness and Rama s acceptance in taking her back displays the Dharma practice of honesty, which in the Hindu sense means the love of what is true. Sita s honesty is not only highlighted as a characteristic of the perfect being but her truthfulness sets an example for future generations of women as to what constitutes the excellent quality for respectability of a women in Hindu society. The ideas presented in this poem range from poem styles to differences between states, advantages of being in New Hampshire, and even glimpses into the life of Robert Frost. The differences between the states Frost describes is obvious in this poem. Frost [switches] back and forth between people the speaker has met and the conclusions he has drawn about them, (Fagan) and each of people are described as being from a different state, representing that state. Frost debases the poet by describing him as being full of fluid inspiration and then clearly stating fluid inspiration as being alcohol. Ontologies Used In Paper-Omics In recent years, there has been an explosion of available data as the medical field has moved from paper based to electronic health records (EHR), along with other big data sources such as digital imaging, genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. To make this vast amount of data clinically useful and to support in depth analysis to understand the molecular basis of diseases, methods and tools are required that accurately integrate and link omics data with clinical information (1). Phenotype is defined as the morphological, physiological and behavioral characteristics of an individual while genotype is an individual s entire genetic makeup (2, 3). A phenotype terminology is a catalog of specific signs, symptoms, imaging findings, and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) facilitates the study of disease phenotype relationships (5 7). The goal of the HPO is to provide accurate and precise clinical descriptions of diseases and yield valuable clues to the molecular pathophysiology of a given patient (6, 8, 9). They are especially important in cases of rare and undiagnosed diseases where clinical experts may use different terms to describe similar clinical phenotypes (10). The construction of ontologies requires content expertise and continuous accrual of new knowledge, which is challenging to incorporate in a timely manner. The comprehensiveness of ontology in a given domain is crucial for its usefulness. Thus, there is a need for systems that can effectively and efficiently provide an assessment of domain coverage and potential new content for inclusion. One of these mechanisms includes exploiting the information found in biomedical resources like published literature and EHRs. Electronic health records have several advantages for use in phenotyping such as cost efficiency and the availability of large amounts of clinical and temporal information (11). Although structured data, such as International Classification of Disease (ICD) codes, are useful controlled vocabularies, they are limited in detail as they are designed to facilitate medical billing. On the other hand, the unstructured clinical data (e.g. consult notes, history and physical notes, discharge summaries, and pathology reports) are rich in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another of the firmly anti war statements in the film was made as Willard and his crew were traveling down the Nung River. The crew came upon a small boat with a few native Vietnamese on board, and Chief, the boat s commander, ordered a search. After spending so much time in Vietnam, the natural response for him upon seeing Vietnamese people was to assume that they were undercover Vietcong soldiers. Diffusion Is The Net Movement Essay NAME: Partrice Davis (Isata Sheriff, Marianne Fafana, Binta Bojang) TITLE: Dye Diffusion INTRODUCTION Diffusion is the net movement in which molecules of a substance move from a various area of high concentration to more substances of lower concentration. Properties of diffusion is the speed of diffusion is influenced by the size of molecule and temperature. The rate of diffusion will depend on the ability of the diffusing molecule to dissolve in the lipid bilayer of the membrane. The rate of diffusion across a membrane is directly proportional to the surface area of the membrane. Diffusion is often referred to as the net motion of particles from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration. The solute is a substance that can be dissolved in a mixture or solution usually in smaller amounts. Factors that would affect the rate consist of the size of the gradient, molecule size, electric charge, lipid solubility, temperature, and the presence of membrane channel proteins. Substances involved in diffusion include gas, small organic ions, and molecules, and lipid soluble materials. Simple diffusion is the unsupported transport across a plasma membrane of the lipid soluble. Certain particles like alcohol, fatty acids, and steroids are able to enter cells easily because they can diffuse through the lipid portion of the membrane. It seemed as if the cave was a theatre. Before he knew it, the walls were already showing himself as a teenager that was thirteen years old. Mason kept watching his memories on the walls play his life before his eyes. Mason was so mesmerized that he didn t even realize the cave was filling up with water. He had reached the point where he was seeing himself in the cave watching the memories. Soon, as he was only 24 years old, the walls showed memories that were from when he seemed to be thirty. After realizing that the memories he was seeing were memories he didn t experience yet, he thought, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Collaboration in My Home Group My Contribution Paper Collaboration consists of a few fundamental components such as the willingness to listen and learn from each other, sharing one s own ideas and perspectives, having respect for each other, working together to achieve a common goal, and being responsible for the self and the whole group. A group has to collaborate in order to deliberate and achieve their common goal because the three phases of deliberation: information gathering, decision making, and reflection, all refer back to the ability to collaborate with each other. While working in a group, group members should always work toward the goal of becoming a good leader, a person who makes the groups she or he works in better (Practice Deliberation as Citizenship, Gene Edgar) by being a responsible and respectful group member, and also being someone who is willing to go the extra miles to make sure everyone in the group is feeling comfortable presenting their ideas in the group. While working in my Home group this quarter, we have came up with a few norms, such as do not interrupt when someone else is talking, be accepting of everyone s opinion, debate ideas not people, help each other, be responsible for one s own assigned roles and tasks, give everyone a chance to talk and participate, be flexible when doing group work, try to be on time, try to participate in each discussion topic, and be prepared before class. All of these norms tied back to the fundamental components of collaboration that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Submerged Radial Gates With A Sill Hydraulics of Submerged Radial Gates with a Sill Abstract In this paper the submerged flow through radial gates with and without a gate sill was experimentally investigated. The effect of different gate sill heights on contraction coefficient, discharge coefficient, submerged jump length, backup water depth, flow energy dissipation, and velocity distribution with different hydraulic parameters were analyzed and graphically presented. A combination of dimensional and regression analysis tools was employed to develop reliable formulas for estimating the studied parameters. This paper concluded the negative influence of sills under submerged radial gates and justified the local scour phenomena occurred immediately downstream the stilling basin of some existing submerged radial gates with a gate sill in Egypt. Keywords: Radial gate; gate sill; submerged flow characteristics; submerged hydraulic jump; velocity field. 1. Introduction Radial (tainter) gates are among the most common features of water control structures in many irrigation networks overall the world. They are employed to regulate both water level and flow discharge in irrigation canals. Radial gates are preferred over vertical sluice gates for several advantages. They require smaller hoisting force, have easier operation, produce lower flow disturbance, and provide better discharge (Sehgal 1996). The flow through radial gates is classified as either free flowing or submerged depending upon the tailwater depth and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Life s Life Let me ask you a question. Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Lily Winten and I am representing Capital Films to promote the best way we can sell Australia. Research shows that 50% of people will choose not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The footage included in the ad encompasses the undiscovered aspects of Australia, many of which are natural. Opening with the ocean, our largest source to attract tourists, gentle waves can be heard. It then shows a woman looking out over a view of Cape Schanck, and a relaxing beat begins to play as we are shown the breathtaking view, creating a desire by the audience, to be there and experience it firsthand. We circle a rock, gradually zooming out to a birds eye view of the vast blue sea, symbolising that there is so much more about Australia, people have yet to experience. The footage then swaps to show a green rainforest, a sunset, ocean, grass, sky, Australia s natural beauty capturing the audience s attention. An uplifting beat grows louder, as we then swap to footage of people doing the variety of activities and unique experiences we offer. Things such as a walk along the beach, sandboarding, a slide into a lake, a step into Aboriginal culture, the city and the surf or simply the fact that you can go anywhere in thongs. The range of activities appeals to our large target audience, as something for everyone, no matter the age. We follow a group of friends as they walk out into the beach, then change to a birds eye view of the group and then zoom out to see the gorgeous Whitsundays beach. The beat drops as we switch Mumbulla Falls and a GoPro sliding down the rocks into the creek, giving our audience an adrenalin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The First Table In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried Instead of explaining my tables in numerical order according to table number, I m going to go off the order I came up with them. The first table that I pieced together was the band of outsiders. All of the people who sit at this table don t quite fit in; each one of them possesses a quality that makes them definitively stand out. The table I m talking about is table number one. The first person that I chose to be part of this table was The Invisible Man from the eponymously titled book by Ralph Ellison. From the famous first line of the novel, I am an invisible man, it s clear to the reader that T.I.M. doesn t fit in (3). Throughout the story, T.I.M. frantically goes from situation to situation trying to figure out where and how he fits in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, Kurtz is through and through crazy, but he s the man that none of his peers presume would be broken by the jungle. Kurtz throws caution to the wind and pretty much defects and does what he pleases. I think that Rinehart would respect a man like Kurtz because Rinehart does it all and doesn t let anyone, let alone society, dictate his action. T.I.M. categorizes Rinehart as a fraud, because of his capacity to play so many roles (384). Maybe Rine could give Kurtz a few tips about successfully maintaining a few different realities and personas. I decided to add Rat Kiley to this table because he could put up with all the crazy tales that the other men at his table have to tell. He also has a breakdown, like Kurtz s but not quite as drastic, after the nightlife gets to him. His hallucinations of bugs all over saying These pictures in my head, they won t quit...at night the pictures get to be a bitch. I start seeing my own body. Chunks of myself...I swear, it s too much. I can t keep seeing myself dead (148). These three are captivating characters on their own but between their hallucinations and willingness/drive to be do what they want be it start a cult in Africa, simultaneously be a bootlegger and a preacher or get the hell out of the war by shooting oneself in the foot these three would sure make one hell of a ... • 46. Essay on Laboratory Techniques and Measurements Lab 1... Laboratory Techniques and Measurements Lab 1 The purpose of this lab was for the student to get involved with his or hers new lab kit as well as being able to know, identify and use each other tools provided in the kit. Another key learning aspect of this lab is to teach the student how to measure properly the many units in the SI system. I will be using laboratory dilutions, measurements, and weights to then calculate using algebraic formula. Throughout lab one we were introduced to many different forms of measurement, whether its using a ruler too measure length, a digital scale to measure weight, and also many different sized and shaped flasks to measure different volumes. Another key measurement of this lab was to teach the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This lab is all about measurements and recording them properly. The lab first introduces to use the measurement of centimeters, millimeters, and meters to measure different household objects in our everyday life. We were given the task to use the provided ruler and measure a CD, key, spoon, and a fork in centimeters and then convert our findings to give us the appropriate units of millimeters and meters for each object required in the exercise. Data Table 1: Length measurements. | Object | Length (cm) | Length (mm) | Length (m) | CD or DVD | 12cm | 120mm | . .12m | Key | 5.5cm | 55mm | 0.055m | Spoon | 15cm | 150mm | .15m | Fork | 18cm | 180mm | .18m | Lab 1 also teaches us the importance of molecular weight of a substance and how to use that to find the amount of moles of that substance in a solution. For example; in exercise 3 we were asked to weigh 8 grams of sugar and then calculate how many moles of sugar it really was. Using the molecular weight of sugar (C = 12.01 grams/mol, H = 1.008 grams/mole, O = 15.00 grams/mole). We were then able to use this molecular mass of the sugar that we then had to use to calculate and determine the molarity of the sugar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
