Williams Hero Model
Williams fits into the Aristotelian tragic hero model because he was born slightly elevated status in the
1950 s Chicago society. Williams came from a pretty well known family; his mother being former
model Laurie McLaurin, and his father, Robert Fitzgerald Williams, a Ford Motor Company
executive. His great great grandfather was Mississippi Governor and Senator Anselm J. McLaurin.
Growing up in Chicago, Williams was lonesome and was often found playing with toys by himself in
his family s suburban mansion and not with any of the other kids his age. No one had thought that
Williams would become the brilliant comedian and actor that he became. Starting his career
performing at nightclubs in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Williams got his big break in 1978 when
he made a guest appearance on the tv show Happy Days as an alien named Mork. ... Show more

Black Panther Party Advantages
The Black Panther Party or BPP was founded 1966 in Oakland California. The cofounders of the
Black Panther Party were Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. Newton and Seale met when they were
attending the merit college in Oakland, California (Hillard ix). The party was based on the teaching of
Malcolm X. Malcolm X taught that force is the only way to defend oneself which related to a desired
goal which was to liberate the African American community (Caprini 1).
The Black Panther Party made the decision to use force to achieve their goal which was the only way
to defend oneself. I don t even call it violence when it s in self defense; I call it intelligence (Malcolm

Reaction Of Joan Of Arc
At the age of 19, Joan of Arc set out to fight for battle with her men on March of 1429 for Orleans.
Joan attested that her mission to save France was in response to voices she heard that commanded her
to wear men clothing and believed that god had appointed her to lead France into victory during the
long term war with England. The men followed her into battle and trusted that her voices were valid.
(JusticeInHistory)She dressed in white armor and riding a white horse, she like to think of herself as a
knight.(Hist) After five months had passed of the french army, Joan was captured by the English, who
brought her to trial for witchcraft. Joan taken away by Anglo Burgundian forces, tried for witchcraft
and heresy and burned at the stake in 1431. It was simply Joan s gender ambiguity that the inquisitors
found a dangerous sign of satan at hand.(JusticeInHistory) In the trial that followed her being seized,
she was ordered to answer to about 70 chargers that was filed against her, which included witchcraft,

If only the judges could prove that the voices were demonic they would ve had enough evidence of
witchcraft and sorcery. Any deviation from official doctrine would constitute evidence of demonic

the voices she heard, they wanted to know if the voices were from those of angels or saints. She gave
very well put together responses to each of the questions. The judges continued to try forces a
different answer out of Joan with each question they asked. The judges eventually tried to reformulate
Joan s words to turn them against her to get her to agree with their accusations. This voice comes from

The Kristallnacht And The Holocaust
Before WWII and even WWI, Jews had always been persecuted and looked down upon before these
two horrific wars. The hatred towards the Jewish population was not new, yet it became more
acceptable to be anti Semitic as the propaganda and the political groups sprouted up throughout the
nation, and blamed many Jewish people for Germany s financial woes. This racial discrimination took
moral and ethical barriers down throughout Germany, as harassment of the Jewish populace became
more intense throughout the 1930 s, culminating with Kristallnacht, where many Jews were killed and
persecuted, and Jewish businesses were burned. In 1938 Nazi anti Semitism reached a radical
stage...the clearest sign of treatment of Jews of Europe would face within a few years occurred in the
fall of 1938...thousands of Jewish businesses; thousands of Jews were beaten in the streets and in their
homes and about one hundred were murdered...some synagogues were destroyed, and several
thousand Jews were sent to concentration camps. [4] These events led down a slippery slope toward
the final solution. The Nazi party perpetuated this hatred, and often took part in the events. The
Kristallnacht marked the beginning of the Nazi policy of detaining Jewish people, based solely upon
their ethnicity. Hitler had authorized these events, and was finally realizing his long lived plan of
racial purity within German and Austria. There were also a social precondition against the Jews before
the two wars and this prominent

The novel Briar Rose by Jane Yolen is a heart wrenching story of Sleeping Beauty intertwined with
the horrors of the Jewish Holocaust. Yolen portrays the difference between the fairytale and the ugly
reality through this novel. The character, Gemma, tells a fairytale called Briar Rose to her three
granddaughters every time she is with them. Gemma s identity at the start of the novel is hidden, and
Becca, Gemma s granddaughter, is on a journey to unveil and discover the truth about her identity and

Oh they are much in appreciation and Once upon a time represent that language is a big part of the
novel through the characters. The first quote shows Magda s awkward, broken English, and the second
quote shows Gemma s fairytale. Through the language of a text, readers are able to get the different
ideas about the people s backgrounds and who they are. Irony is often used in Briar Rose, especially
with Josef. Josef represents the prince because he saves Gemma s life during the Holocaust. The
stereotypical view of princes in fairytales is that they rescue the female, and they kiss and live happily
ever after. That was never going to be the case with Gemma and Josef because Josef is a homosexual,
and he was in love with Aron, Gemma s husband. Briar Rose is an allegory for the Holocaust. The
harsh details of her survival are hidden in the magical fairytale, and it softens the impact of reality for
the reader. Jane Yolen s techniques pull through to create an interesting story, and they also help carry
out the different themes throughout the book. The themes of the novel make Briar Rose a good book.
There are many different subjects that build and make the fiction story stronger. I have no memories in
my head but one...a fairytale. This quote shares a theme of past, memory, and remembrance. Gemma s
past was so traumatic that in order to cope Gemma s memory of the past, she had to present in a
unique way. This theme reminds the readers that memories

Temple Grandin Theme
Temple Grandin: A Story of Perservearence Temple Grandin and Invictus are excellent films in their
own right. Both share themes of sacrifice, courage, and acceptance. The storytelling in each is very
different however. Temple Grandin is one persons account of her life with autism and life s work.
Invictus is a much larger story involving a whole country, and the turbulent history it s new President
desperately wanted to change for the people. Although these movies are both well written and acted,
Temple Grandin is the best overall firm because the story is focused, relevant and provides an
uplifting story of perseverance and hope. The movie Temple Grandin allows the viewer to relate to the
very personal struggles and triumphs Temple experiences as she navigates through school and her
career being someone with Autism. Autism itself is a relevant topic ... Show more content on

The United States has continued issues with racial inequity among citizens. Deep divides between
races are seen in the Invictus film. Many americans can relate to the feelings of anger and fear

and loneliness expressed in Temple Grandin and more universal. Temple Grandin deals with these
feelings and also touches on a relevant topic today. Autism cases across the U.S. are increasing in
children. With all the technology we have access to, researchers still cannot provide a conclusive
cause for this rise. Speculative reasons are entertained such as environmental toxins, advanced
maternal age, or changes in agriculture cultivation. For families struggling with autism, the movie
Temple Grandin is hopeful and uplifting. For people who were previously unfamiliar with autism, It
shows a snapshot of one persons experience with autism and what it may look like. At it s core it is a
beautiful story of a woman born with challenges and the tenacity to overcome them; this theme is

The Seven Reincarnation Of Rama And Sita
In the religion of Hinduism they believed in reincarnation and the purpose of another life since in the
case of lord Rama also known as Ramachandra he is the seven reincarnation of Lord Vishnu is the
second god in the Hindu triumvirate. The triumvirate consists of three gods who are responsible for
the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world . . Lord Rama was said to be the perfect being, as
well as the perfect man, husband, brother, king, and obedient son. He is usually portrayed holding a
bow and arrow, as an indicator that he is ready to fight off any evil or demons that he may come across
or are put in his path. Along with his wife Sita, and his obedient brother Lakshmana, beside him. And
one of his great disciples, Hanuman, bowing at his feet. Rama and Sita have been leaders and role

religion.
Hanuman, who is the leader of the monkey tribe, allied with Rama to help destroy Ravana. Together
they demonstrate strong courage and bravery so they are able to destroy Ravana. The gods are
depending on Rama to be able to stop Ravana, although Rama doesn t know what his purpose is. Only
a human can kill Ravana, as said by Swami Vivekananda

2002 APUSH DBQ
2002 AP DBQ
In the years following the War of 1812, the Era of Good Feelings evolved between the years 1815 and
1825. In the first half of this period, there was a strong sense of nationalism throughout the United
States. However, political changes and economic differences between the states warped this
nationalism into the sectionalism that divided the country into north, south and west regions.
Celebrations of unity within the United States soon turned into disagreements concerning
representation within the government and the differences within the national government caused by
the emergence of different Republican factions. States distanced themselves from working collectively
in a united economy. They were largely concerned with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, there was a high tariff placed on foreign goods. This was beneficial for the north because
it increased the chances of Americans purchasing the goods produced in their factories. However, this
was disadvantageous for the south. Since slaves were viewed as objects, imported slaves were
considered imported goods and were sold with high tariffs attached to them. The three regions were
becoming more sectionalist because they were becoming increasing concerned with problems facing
their own area, and not the country as a whole. The sectionalism that emerged during this time period
did so within a short period of time. This is easy to see in the election maps of 1820 and 1824. Within
these four years, the United States went from being uniformly supportive of one candidate (Monroe in
1820), to having support for several candidates. While much of the south was in support of Andrew
Jackson, the first president who did not have a formal education and supported the common man ,
much of the north backed John Q. Adams, the eventual winner. These maps illustrate the regional
differences that eventually led to the lack of a majority vote. Sectionalism became quite prominent
with the emergence of different factions within the Republican Party and eventually the creation of
new parties. Each region was sectionalist in that they voted for the candidate who would be the best
advocate for their area, rather than leader for their country.

Annoying Shoppers
Grocery shopping can be a very interesting experience. It seems like nothing more than a quick and
easy chore at first. You go in, throw whatever you want into your cart, pay and then get out. Its almost
relaxing, that is if the grocery store is completely empty. Unfortunately, there are always those other
shoppers. The ones who think they own the place or something. They re in just about every grocery
store in America. You know who I m talking about, that one parent usually a mom with a kid who just
so happens to be screaming bloody murder. Also, everyone knows a bad cart driver when they see one,
not to mention the label readers. And finally, probably the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

you decided to stand behind had the entire store in her cart! Little did you know that she was the worst
shopper of them all the Couponer. This is the bargain shopper who s annoying actions are broken
down into three steps. First, this shopper will decide to pack her cart so full that the pile of groceries in
her cart is taller than she is! Inevitably, creating a longer waiting time for you. Next, she will stand
there, stare at the clerk s computer screen and argue about the 2 for 1 price for every item that doesn t
match up exactly the way she wants. Finally, after all her groceries are scanned, bagged and carted, the
couponer will then proceed to dig through her entire purse searching for every coupon she has ever
saved over the past year for that one shopping trip. As if she hasn t already wasted enough of everyone
s time. It is at this point of your experience when you realize that any hope of an efficient and speedy
shopping trip was just tossed out the window. With all of the annoying people that decide to go to the
grocery store, shopping can easily turn from a quick and easy chore into one of the most tedious
experiences of your life. I encourage you, as a shopper, to watch out for people like this the next time

Essay on the Human Spirit in Frankenstein and Picture of...
Similarities of the Human Spirit in Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Grey
The human spirit is one of the most beautiful forces in the world, but it is also one of the most
vulnerable. In the novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar
Wilde, this idea of the human spirit is portrayed clearly. Both novels have similar aspects about the
human spirit, but they also have their differences. Both novels have main characters who are
influenced greatly by someone that they admire, and they are destroyed by that influence. The
difference that these novels have is that in Frankenstein, the main character is influenced and
destroyed by something he creates himself, while in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example from the novel is when the monster starts to become familiar with the little beauties
and simplicities of life, but begins to realize that society rejects him because of his revolting
appearance. This is due to Victor s ignorance of the monster s feelings and knowledge, because Victor
never told the monster what he was, a hideous and revolting creature. Victor blames himself for these
innocent crimes committed by the monster that he created and silently goes crazy, then dies from
becoming very ill. Before his death, Victor asked his friend Walton to kill the monster, because he
didn t have the strength. His motivation, the monster, drove him to the brink of insanity and eventually
death.
In the novel The Picture of Dorian Grey, Dorian, the novel s main character, is influenced greatly by
his friend and mentor, Lord Henry, and kills himself because he listens to everything that Lord Henry
says and believes it. For example, Dorian explains to Lord Henry that he went out to the country and
became a changed man, a good man. He had killed Basil and admitted to Lord Henry that he did
so.Lord Henry mocks him and doesn t believe him. Lord Henry tells him that a human cannot change
no matter what.Dorian refuses to believe him but can t help the fact that Lord Henry might be correct
about it.But still, Dorian believes that he is a good man. Later on, Dorian looks at the picture that

Competitive Advantages Of Competitive Advantage Essay
Question 1: Competitive advantages are conditions that permit an organization or nation to deliver a
decent or administration at a lower cost or in a more alluring manner for clients. These conditions
permit the gainful element to produce a bigger number of offers or unrivaled edges than its opposition.
Competitive advantages are ascribed to an assortment of components, including cost structure, mark,
nature of item offerings, dispersion and system, licensed innovation and customer support. Samsung
had settled on the choice to receive design as a wellspring of competitive advantage in the 1990s.
Prior, the company s items had been unsatisfying and undifferentiated. In the mid1990s, the Group
administrator, Kun Hee Lee, started Samsung s change from a low end OEM into a world class
gadgets organization. Honing the company s design aptitudes was a critical part of the activity. Be that
as it may, this required significant changes in culture, procedures, and frameworks inside the
organization. Samsung understood that competitive advantage can be accomplished through the
design innovation. Samsung s voyage toward design greatness began in 1993. That year, Lee
supposedly went by a gadgets store in Los Angeles, USA. He saw, sadly, that the Samsung items in
plain view looked ugly, while the results of Sony and some different organizations looked a great deal
all the more engaging. He discovered too that the business staff at the store were themselves
overlooking the Samsung

Sigmund Freud Good Vs Evil
Sigmund Freud s theories of the unconscious mind focus on the dark aspects of fears and repressions
that plague an individual in childhood, and follow them unresolved into adulthood. Freud divides the
unconscious mind into a tri part; Id where our deepest desires lie, ego our conscious mind, and super
ego our moral guide based on our culture. Deconstructing the function of each tri part can seem
biased, especially with Freud s belief that women were inferior to men and people of color inferior to
all. Applying these concepts to the opposite gender and different race wasn t likely his top priority
especially in an equal playing field but, using the basic concepts could give a new perspective on these
excluded individuals, and the unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mama s own words and they lead the reader to ponder Dee s morals. Being situated outside of time

Cognitive And Perceptual Biases
What approaches can an analyst use to reduce cognitive and perceptual biases? Perceptual and
cognitive biases are two different challenge that almost all analysts face in the performance of their
duties. There are many ways that cognitive and perceptual biases can influence the analyst and their
final product even without the analyst knowing or realizing that these biases are present. It would be
wise for any analyst to use more than one analytical method in their attempt to remove their own
personal biases. Three methods of eliminating an analysts perceptual and cognitive biases are the
Analysis of Competing Hypotheses (ACH), Key Assumption Check and the Devil s Advocacy
methods.
The first way to prevent the influence of biases is to utilize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This analytical method is useful in eliminating those possible outcomes or hypothesis that our biases
have accepted to be true.2 This method explain the logic behind various hypotheses and can expose
faulty or false information or reality s. It helps the analysts understand the key factors of an issue and
activate their critical thinking skills in regards to the issue.2 The last method an analyst could use is
the devil s advocacy method more commonly used to challenge a majority held point of view by
establishing a detailed case for an alternative explanation. This method outlines the mainline judgment
and key assumptions and characterizes the evidence supporting that current analytic view. 2 This
method would then use the information in determining whether any of the analysis is questionable in
its validity or if any biases exist in the information.

The Onset Of Bulimia Nervosa
The purpose of the study is to identify what may be the onset of bulimia nervosa and whether or not it
is related to a person being subjected to criticism based on their weight/ shape and eating habits. This
is the first of studies that take a look at a year prior to having bulimia nervosa. This study was
conducted through a control case study which is a study that looks at both a group that does have a
disorder and a group that does not have the disorder. It also determines if a factor affects either of the
groups and how that factor affects it. The study observed three separate group of women. The women
with eating disorders were recruited from eating disorder treatment settings, which were women who
were previously diagnosed with bulimia nervosa. The healthy women along with women with a
psychiatric diagnosis were recruited from high schools and university campuses. A total of 180 women
were observed. The first group of sixty women was women who had bulimia nervosa and ranged
between the ages of 15 38. The second group, which were the healthy women, their age ranged from
15 39. The healthy women reported not being diagnosed with any disorder. The last group of sixty
women s ages ranged from 14 38 and they were diagnosed as having psychiatric disorders. The study

Monetary and Fiscal Policy Essay examples
Monetary and fiscal policy and their applications to the third world countries with a huge informal
sector
This essay seeks to explain what are monetary and fiscal policy and their roles and contribution to the
economy. This includes the role of the government in regulating the economical performance of a
country. It also explains the different features and tools of monetary and fiscal policy and their
performance when applied to the third world countries with a huge informal sector.
Monetary Policy
Monetary policy is the mechanism of a country s monetary authority (usually the central bank) taking
up measures to regulate the supply of money and the rates of interest. It involves controlling money in
the economy to promote economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This involves buying or selling financial instruments like bonds in exchange of money to be deposited
with the central bank. By selling the financial instruments, the central bank mops up the cash in
circulation. On the other hand, selling injects money thus increasing the supply of money (Bernanke
2006).
Interest rates
By increasing or reducing the nominal interest rates, the money supply is either increased or reduced.
When the rate goes up, people are not able to borrow, thus the money does not enter into circulation.
But when the rates go down, people borrow in big numbers therefore increasing the money supply. So
the monetary authority just needs to adjust the interest rates either upwards or downwards, and in
direct results will be reflected on the money on circulation. Discount window lending
This is the situation where the commercial banks and other lending institutions borrow from the
central bank at lower interest rates compared to how they will lend. This gives the institution a chance
to vary credit conditions depending on the central bank lending rates. If the central bank raises its
lending rates, then the other lending institutions will have to raise their rates too, thus discouraging the
public from borrowing. But if the central bank lowers its rate, then commercial banks and other
institutions will be forced to lower their rates too. This will encourage the

Fichte And Noumenon
Through history, philosophers have often relied on assistance to complete or perfect these theories.
The philosophers we will be addressing today are no exception. By that, I mean Kant and Fichte and
their theories of things unknowns and what exactly that makes them
We shall start with a contradiction, a Yin and yang of sorts. By this, I mean noumenon and
phenomenon. You see a phenomenon is anything that is witnessed by the senses certain objects, as
appearances, beings of sense (1) whereas the noumenon is completely unknowable through the senses.

the mode of self. On a contradictory note, we will address my personal opinions on Fichte.I believe
that Fichte is an idealist, not a dogmatist this is too because of what he is but more what he isn t. He is
not like Kant who believes that everything beyond a certain set of rules is knowable aka a dogmatist

Primo Levi s Survival in Auschwitz Essay

Personal Response to Survival in Auschwitz
Why is the pain of every day translated so constantly into our dreams, in the ever repeated scene of the
unlistened to story (Levi, p 60)? As I read this quote in my book, I highlighted it and wrote in the
margin foreshadowing . I feel confident that these dreams signified just that; that the author (amongst
the other survivors) would forever re live those horrors and try tell their stories...and no one listens.
The poem at the beginning of the book, Survival in Auschwitz, by Primo Levi, warns us of just this
and curses us should we fail to listen. It is imperative that we a global community never forget and

Levi s response to Kuhn s prayer was extreme at first, for isn t it customary to give thanks for good
fortune? But then as I reflected on this, Levi was absolutely correct. How dare one man thank God for
living another day when the man beside him has been condemned? There is no rhyme or reason to it,
there is no why in the Lager. It is impossible for them at the time to understand, which is why the law

and a Streetcar Named Desire. These are not only stories though; they have their sadness but
throughout there is also hope and there are also morals, these are things to gain by these stories. The

Title Search, what s in a name?
A title search is a way to prove who is selling the property and if they really have the right to sell it. It
s important for the buyer as it ensures and confirms what is being bought and
HSH 5 sold. Performing the title search is a part of most real estate transactions. There are steps
involved in a title search that examine the different pieces needed to prove ownership and allow for
the sale of property. Steps of researching and verifying chain of title, taxes, possession reports,
judgment, name searches and commitment are used to navigate the title search and verification. These
steps are not involved in renting and therefor can act as another motivation in favor of buying with a
sense of security instead of gambling on the landlords/companies word that the property is theirs to
offer.
When these searches have been completed, and the financial outcomes have been weighed the time to
decide whether to rent or buy awaits.

Student Mentorship Program For The Community College Essay
Student Mentoring in the Community College
Student Population Served
Student Success is now considered a vital element in the community college role. We must teach our
students, and equipped them with skills to achieve their educational goal, as well as their career goals
thereby, surviving in the workplace. Therefore, I am proposing a student mentorship program that
targets all students enrolling at Mohave Community College (MCC). The program will encourage
participation from the concurrent enrolled high school students, as well as students that are classified
within the at risk category. Each student at registration will receive information regarding the
program, and encourage to participate when attending orientation.
Identified Need
The implementation and formulation of the program are highly informed by the fact that certain
groups of students desperately need interventions to enhance their academic performance and increase
their retention rates (Stromel, 2000). The program has identified six types of students who require
mentor consisting of the nontraditional adults; students in remedial studies; students exhibiting low
classroom participation; learners with low campus or community involvement; anyone who lacks
positive role models, and students complaining about time. Therefore, with the tremendous increase of
nontraditional and remedial students at MCC which, exhibit low motivation skills, time management
abilities, and failure to socialize (Campbell, Smith,

Nurture Controversy
The biggest controversy in psychology today is whether genetics or one s environment plays a role in
the behavior of the individual. Psychologists have researched and developed different theories to
explain the reason for the way humans think and behave. The behavior of individuals is either
inherited or learned. In my opinion, I believe that nurture plays a big role in the individual s behavior.
Kendra Cherry states, Nurture refers to all the environmental variables that impact who we are,
including our early childhood experiences, how we were raised, our social relationships, and our
surrounding culture (1). People have become who there are because of the environment they were
exposed to in their childhood years. The behavior of people is influenced be the environment that

Religious Freedom in America
From the beginning the United States of America was formed, it has been founded and established by
religious toleration and freedom. Without religious freedom, people are forced to comply with laws
and policies that blatantly contradict their beliefs. This results in people living their lives in a struggle
between their personal beliefs and obeying the laws that are placed before them. Obviously upholding
personal convictions is very important, but people are forced to decide if it is personally worth the
persecutions they may endure in result of it. Freedom of religion is considered to be a basic human
right. Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states, Everyone has the right to
freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or
belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his
religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance (Leiter, p. 6). However, there are many
countries throughout the world that are actively engaging in religious persecution daily. Roger Trigg,
author of Equality, Freedom, and Religion, states that without the ability to decide, and live by, what
we consider to be most important and valuable in life, we cannot be free (Trigg, p. 153). The early
pilgrims of the United States were seeking religious freedom. However, it was not the type of religious
freedom that is associated with the First Amendment. They came

Memento Mori In Antigone
A young woman must decide whether to follow the laws of her gods or her king in order to bury her
dead brother. The punishment from her king is death, but the punishment of the gods could be
everlasting after death. Which punishment does she choose? A philosopher journals his thoughts on
many different topics including life as part of the whole, carpe diem, mortality and its consequences,
and the ability to release negativity from our lives.
In Latin, there is a phrase of deep meaning and great impact: memento mori, or remember you must
die. Mortality is a common theme in literature due to the relatability and commonality that lies in
death as a natural occurrence. People are born and die every single day. Some people may say that we
live to die, and die to live. Although we may try to extend our lives by the ways in which we live, no
one can truly escape death. All of the exercise, sleep and heathy foods in the world will not let us live
on forever. We must keep in mind that we are mortal beings and our fate is inevitable. That being said,
we must not live our lives dwelling on negativity, but make the most of our time. Antigone by
Sophocles as well as book four and five of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius explore this theme of
memento mori.
In Antigone, it is clear to see that Antigone is aware of her mortal state. She placed great value on how
the gods would react to her actions. The basis of the story is that Antigone desired to bury her dead

Mattel and Ttoy Recalls
The Mattel and the Toy Recalls integrative case poses six questions (four from the case and two from
the professor) which will be addressed in this analysis.
1. What went wrong with Mattel s recall strategy?
The strategy used by Mattel in the toy recall was focused on passing the blame to China s work
practices and materials used. Mattel prematurely placed disproportionate blame on Chinese
manufacturers and appeared defensive and somewhat fearful. In addition, the toy manufacture delayed
reporting to the CPSC by a month and a half after they found out that the toys contained lead paint,
even though the CPSC guidelines state that a re call should be issued in 24 hours.

Given the circumstances Mattel did what it had to do from the standpoint of communication to reduce
the reputational damage and keep the stock price afloat.
Regaining consumer confidence and controlling the dissemination of product safety information
requires strong corporate communicators who can deliberately balance supplier, customer,
governmental, media, and investor relationships.
4. What should Mattel do know and in the future?
First and foremost Mattel should improve two way, interpersonal communication with two key
customers: parents and the retailers. Corporate communication campaigns should increase interaction
with consumers online via message boards and social media. Retailers have the most face to face
contact with consumers. Mattel should equip them to answer consumer questions comprehensively
and accurately.
In the future Mattel should aim to anticipate future crises by scanning domestic and international
consumer watch groups, industry websites and work even closer with CPSC. The understanding of
domestic and international markets is crucial in being ready to prevent any safety related issues that
are on the horizon. Mattel should strive to ensure that each country receives products held to the same
safety standards as the US. Sub standard products should not be dumped on developing markets. The
one miss for a lot of international companies is the lack of understanding cultural nuances and

Introduction Project finance is a term used freely by a number of professionals including bankers,

decades old term that preexists corporate finance. However, the rolling growth in infrastructure
undertakings in the developing world funded by privately financed organizations is continuously
attracting greater attention. When considering financing for development, there are two main issues
that need to be taken into consideration. Firstly, the capability of financing must ensure adequate

investments in local and external unindustrialized countries grew four times from roughly $1.6 trillion

A Study On A Television
A television I am usually exposed to during this year is located in a room dedicated for students who
want to relax or study on the side. This television is located in the lounge of an Oakes College
residential hall. The television set is located above eye level in the right hand corner as you enter the
room. Below the set, is a VCR with the remote control on top of it. As for the lounge layout, there are
three sofas that are placed in a rectangular shape all of them facing the television. In the middle are
two rectangular shaped tables used to place stuff when one is watching tv. On the other side of the
room, are three full size tables placed next to each other to create a study space for any resident in the
residential hall.
A few of my fellow neighbors are on their laptops studying or on their social medias glancing a few
moments at what s on the television screen. Unlike those sitting in front of the table those who are
sitting at the couches are gazing at the different programs being transmitted on the television screen.
All of us seem to be watching the television for the same purpose as a pure form of entertainment to
relieve stress from being a student. Each time a commercial starts mostly everyone go on their phones
or use that time to go to the restroom as well as change the channels.
The entrance to the room becomes a place for decisions as one has to decide to either study or relax by

The, The Roman Empire, And Councils Of The Early Church
Arius, the Roman Empire, and Councils of the Early Church Christianity came to a crossroads during
the fourth century. Previously, there had been gaps in Church teaching, and so some people began to
fill those gaps. One of those people was Arius. Arius was born in 256 A.D. in Libya, but moved to
Alexandria, Egypt and became a presbyter there. He began to teach about Jesus as a creature created
by God the Father, and so therefore not God. This was seen by many early Christians as a possibility,
as there had not previously been any official teaching set, and many of them started to follow Arius.
Though the Church experienced some struggle with this heresy, in the end it was made stronger
because it was forced to set theological beliefs. The Christian Church was advanced in the fourth
century through struggles with the Arian heresy, a drastic change in the Roman Empire, and the
combination of the Empire and Church to combat heresy. Arius teaching called to question multiple
beliefs of Christians that had not yet been established. First, Arius taught that God the Father is one,
singular God.1 He derived this principle from the beliefs of Judaism, from which Christianity was
born. According to Arius, God has some qualities that only he can possess2, making him uniquely
alone and unequal to any other thing. One of those qualities possessed by God is that he is ingenerate.
This means that he had no beginning in time: he always was. He is also perfect, which brings

Globalization is a term that came into common usage in the 1980 s to describe the increased

to increased interconnectedness among the world s populations, economically, politically, socially and

associate globalization with modernization (i.e., the transformation of traditional societies into
Western industrialized ones). At the global level, globalization is thought of in terms of the challenges
it poses to the role of governments in international affairs and the global economy .

One Of The Most Important Elements In Dracula

Quiz 2 on Dracula One of the most important elements in Dracula is imagery, and I believe Bram
Stroker uses sleeping to show weakness in his characters and to develop a sense of danger. Uniquely,
in the Victorian age, people believed a person s mind was only healthy when they were asleep, and
their bodies were safer when awake. Of course, this goes hand in hand with the story so far in Dracula,
because the majority of the danger in Dracula takes place at nighttime when people are sleeping.
Furthermore, I believe this may be why Stroker has placed such a big emphasis on sleeping
throughout Dracula; in fact, Stroker demonstrates how sleeping puts a person in their most vulnerable
state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

unwise to sleep anywhere in the castle, besides his room. Of course, this gives me an unnerving
feeling and a curious thought as to what else is in the castle, but I know it would be wise for Harker to
heed Dracula s words. In the end, Harker did not listen to Dracula s words and he found himself in
grave danger when he awoke to three blood thirsty women standing in the same room he fell asleep in.
However, Dracula stepped in and saved Harker, but I found out exactly how weak a person is when

The hatred towards the Jewish population was not new, yet it became more acceptable to be anti Semitic as the propaganda and the political groups sprouted up throughout the nation, and blamed many Jewish people for Germany s financial woes. This racial discrimination took moral and ethical barriers down throughout Germany, as harassment of the Jewish populace became more intense throughout the 1930 s, culminating with Kristallnacht, where many Jews were killed and persecuted, and Jewish businesses were burned. The first quote shows Magda s awkward, broken English, and the second quote shows Gemma s fairytale. Through the language of a text, readers are able to get the different ideas about the people s backgrounds and who they are. Irony is often used in Briar Rose, especially with Josef. Josef represents the prince because he saves Gemma s life during the Holocaust. The stereotypical view of princes in fairytales is that they rescue the female, and they kiss and live happily ever after. That was never going to be the case with Gemma and Josef because Josef is a homosexual, and he was in love with Aron, Gemma s husband. Briar Rose is an allegory for the Holocaust. The harsh details of her survival are hidden in the magical fairytale, and it softens the impact of reality for the reader. Jane Yolen s techniques pull through to create an interesting story, and they also help carry out the different themes throughout the book. The themes of the novel make Briar Rose a good book. In the first half of this period, there was a strong sense of nationalism throughout the United States. However, political changes and economic differences between the states warped this nationalism into the sectionalism that divided the country into north, south and west regions. For example, there was a high tariff placed on foreign goods. This was beneficial for the north because it increased the chances of Americans purchasing the goods produced in their factories. However, this was disadvantageous for the south. Since slaves were viewed as objects, imported slaves were considered imported goods and were sold with high tariffs attached to them. The three regions were becoming more sectionalist because they were becoming increasing concerned with problems facing their own area, and not the country as a whole. The sectionalism that emerged during this time period did so within a short period of time. This is easy to see in the election maps of 1820 and 1824. Within these four years, the United States went from being uniformly supportive of one candidate (Monroe in 1820), to having support for several candidates. While much of the south was in support of Andrew Jackson, the first president who did not have a formal education and supported the common man , much of the north backed John Q. Adams, the eventual winner. These maps illustrate the regional differences that eventually led to the lack of a majority vote. Sectionalism became quite prominent with the emergence of different factions within the Republican Party and eventually the creation of new parties. Each region was sectionalist in that they voted for the candidate who would be the best advocate for their area, rather than leader for their country. The unification of the ... Competitive Advantages Of Competitive Advantage Essay Question 1: Competitive advantages are conditions that permit an organization or nation to deliver a decent or administration at a lower cost or in a more alluring manner for clients. Competitive advantages are ascribed to an assortment of components, including cost structure, mark, nature of item offerings, dispersion and system, licensed innovation and customer support. Samsung had settled on the choice to receive design as a wellspring of competitive advantage in the 1990s. Prior, the company s items had been unsatisfying and undifferentiated. In the mid1990s, the Group administrator, Kun Hee Lee, started Samsung s change from a low end OEM into a world class gadgets organization. Honing the company s design aptitudes was a critical part of the activity. Be that as it may, this required significant changes in culture, procedures, and frameworks inside the organization. Interest rates By increasing or reducing the nominal interest rates, the money supply is either increased or reduced. When the rate goes up, people are not able to borrow, thus the money does not enter into circulation. But when the rates go down, people borrow in big numbers therefore increasing the money supply. The program has identified six types of students who require mentor consisting of the nontraditional adults; students in remedial studies; students exhibiting low classroom participation; learners with low campus or community involvement; anyone who lacks positive role models, and students complaining about time. Therefore, with the tremendous increase of nontraditional and remedial students at MCC which, exhibit low motivation skills, time management abilities, and failure to socialize (Campbell, Smith, ... • 31. Nurture Controversy The biggest controversy in psychology today is whether genetics or one s environment plays a role in the behavior of the individual. Psychologists have researched and developed different theories to explain the reason for the way humans think and behave. The behavior of individuals is either inherited or learned. In my opinion, I believe that nurture plays a big role in the individual s behavior. Kendra Cherry states, Nurture refers to all the environmental variables that impact who we are, including our early childhood experiences, how we were raised, our social relationships, and our surrounding culture (1). People have become who there are because of the environment they were exposed to in their childhood years. The behavior of people is influenced be the environment that surrounds them and can changed many times through one s lifetime. People have different personalities a person s ... The trend of having both parents in a household most likely will carry on with their children when they become adults. Marisa Mauro says, In seeing the life patterns, I cannot help but wonder if these men, now incarcerated, would have led productive lives if their environments were different (2009). Without the help of counselling services, the abusive and violent behavior will never end, even if they engage in new relationships. • 32. Religious Freedom in America From the beginning the United States of America was formed, it has been founded and established by religious toleration and freedom. Without religious freedom, people are forced to comply with laws and policies that blatantly contradict their beliefs. This results in people living their lives in a struggle between their personal beliefs and obeying the laws that are placed before them. Obviously upholding personal convictions is very important, but people are forced to decide if it is personally worth the persecutions they may endure in result of it. Freedom of religion is considered to be a basic human right. Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states, Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance (Leiter, p. 6). However, there are many countries throughout the world that are actively engaging in religious persecution daily. Roger Trigg, author of Equality, Freedom, and Religion, states that without the ability to decide, and live by, what we consider to be most important and valuable in life, we cannot be free (Trigg, p. 153). The early pilgrims of the United States were seeking religious freedom. However, it was not the type of religious freedom that is associated with the First Amendment. They came ... • 33. Memento Mori In Antigone A young woman must decide whether to follow the laws of her gods or her king in order to bury her dead brother. The punishment from her king is death, but the punishment of the gods could be everlasting after death. Which punishment does she choose? A philosopher journals his thoughts on many different topics including life as part of the whole, carpe diem, mortality and its consequences, and the ability to release negativity from our lives. In Latin, there is a phrase of deep meaning and great impact: memento mori, or remember you must die. Mortality is a common theme in literature due to the relatability and commonality that lies in death as a natural occurrence. People are born and die every single day. Some people may say that we live to die, and die to live. Although we may try to extend our lives by the ways in which we live, no one can truly escape death. All of the exercise, sleep and heathy foods in the world will not let us live on forever. We must keep in mind that we are mortal beings and our fate is inevitable. That being said, we must not live our lives dwelling on negativity, but make the most of our time. Antigone by Sophocles as well as book four and five of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius explore this theme of memento mori. In Antigone, it is clear to see that Antigone is aware of her mortal state. She placed great value on how the gods would react to her actions. The basis of the story is that Antigone desired to bury her dead brother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Mattel and Ttoy Recalls The Mattel and the Toy Recalls integrative case poses six questions (four from the case and two from the professor) which will be addressed in this analysis. 1. What went wrong with Mattel s recall strategy? The strategy used by Mattel in the toy recall was focused on passing the blame to China s work practices and materials used. Mattel prematurely placed disproportionate blame on Chinese manufacturers and appeared defensive and somewhat fearful. In addition, the toy manufacture delayed reporting to the CPSC by a month and a half after they found out that the toys contained lead paint, even though the CPSC guidelines state that a re call should be issued in 24 hours. 2. Who are Mattel s stakeholders, who did Mattel cater to in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Given the circumstances Mattel did what it had to do from the standpoint of communication to reduce the reputational damage and keep the stock price afloat. Regaining consumer confidence and controlling the dissemination of product safety information requires strong corporate communicators who can deliberately balance supplier, customer, governmental, media, and investor relationships. 4. What should Mattel do know and in the future? First and foremost Mattel should improve two way, interpersonal communication with two key customers: parents and the retailers. Corporate communication campaigns should increase interaction with consumers online via message boards and social media. Retailers have the most face to face contact with consumers. Mattel should equip them to answer consumer questions comprehensively and accurately. In the future Mattel should aim to anticipate future crises by scanning domestic and international consumer watch groups, industry websites and work even closer with CPSC. The understanding of domestic and international markets is crucial in being ready to prevent any safety related issues that are on the horizon. Mattel should strive to ensure that each country receives products held to the same safety standards as the US. Sub standard products should not be dumped on developing markets. The one miss for a lot of international companies is the lack of understanding cultural nuances and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. A Study On A Television A television I am usually exposed to during this year is located in a room dedicated for students who want to relax or study on the side. This television is located in the lounge of an Oakes College residential hall. The television set is located above eye level in the right hand corner as you enter the room. Below the set, is a VCR with the remote control on top of it. As for the lounge layout, there are three sofas that are placed in a rectangular shape all of them facing the television. In the middle are two rectangular shaped tables used to place stuff when one is watching tv. On the other side of the room, are three full size tables placed next to each other to create a study space for any resident in the residential hall. A few of my fellow neighbors are on their laptops studying or on their social medias glancing a few moments at what s on the television screen. Unlike those sitting in front of the table those who are sitting at the couches are gazing at the different programs being transmitted on the television screen. All of us seem to be watching the television for the same purpose as a pure form of entertainment to relieve stress from being a student. Each time a commercial starts mostly everyone go on their phones or use that time to go to the restroom as well as change the channels. The entrance to the room becomes a place for decisions as one has to decide to either study or relax by watching television. This moment is similar to what Anna McCarthy mentions ... • 37. The, The Roman Empire, And Councils Of The Early Church Arius, the Roman Empire, and Councils of the Early Church Christianity came to a crossroads during the fourth century. Previously, there had been gaps in Church teaching, and so some people began to fill those gaps. One of those people was Arius. Arius was born in 256 A.D. in Libya, but moved to Alexandria, Egypt and became a presbyter there. He began to teach about Jesus as a creature created by God the Father, and so therefore not God. This was seen by many early Christians as a possibility, as there had not previously been any official teaching set, and many of them started to follow Arius. Though the Church experienced some struggle with this heresy, in the end it was made stronger because it was forced to set theological beliefs. The Christian Church was advanced in the fourth century through struggles with the Arian heresy, a drastic change in the Roman Empire, and the combination of the Empire and Church to combat heresy. Arius teaching called to question multiple beliefs of Christians that had not yet been established. First, Arius taught that God the Father is one, singular God.1 He derived this principle from the beliefs of Judaism, from which Christianity was born. According to Arius, God has some qualities that only he can possess2, making him uniquely alone and unequal to any other thing. One of those qualities possessed by God is that he is ingenerate. This means that he had no beginning in time: he always was. He is also perfect, which brings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. One Of The Most Important Elements In Dracula Jeffrey Hinkle Professor Ramirez English 303B 13 July 2016 Quiz 2 on Dracula One of the most important elements in Dracula is imagery, and I believe Bram Stroker uses sleeping to show weakness in his characters and to develop a sense of danger. Uniquely, in the Victorian age, people believed a person s mind was only healthy when they were asleep, and their bodies were safer when awake. Of course, this goes hand in hand with the story so far in Dracula, because the majority of the danger in Dracula takes place at nighttime when people are sleeping. Furthermore, I believe this may be why Stroker has placed such a big emphasis on sleeping throughout Dracula; in fact, Stroker demonstrates how sleeping puts a person in their most vulnerable state. ... From the start, Stroker tells Johnathan Harker it is unwise to sleep anywhere in the castle, besides his room. Of course, this gives me an unnerving feeling and a curious thought as to what else is in the castle, but I know it would be wise for Harker to heed Dracula s words. In the end, Harker did not listen to Dracula s words and he found himself in grave danger when he awoke to three blood thirsty women standing in the same room he fell asleep in. However, Dracula stepped in and saved Harker, but I found out exactly how weak a person is when they are asleep in an unsecured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
