Alternative Energies Essays
Do you have to pay to put fuel in a vehicle? I know I do and it s becoming more of a large burden
rather than just another small expense of living. It s safe to say that the majority of people
owning motor vehicles dislike the constant fluctuation in the price of oil and gasoline. The four
worst polluters when it comes to the burning of fossil fuels are the United States, China, Japan,
and Britain (Editorial par. 3). At the rate at which it is rising now, vehicles are soon going to be a
luxury because people will not be able to afford the price of fuel. One possible solution to this
problem, and many other instances that rely on the burning of fossil fuels, is the use of renewable
energysources. Two of the more notable energies are solar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

1). IRENA is just one of many ways that a person can get involved in helping our world become
cleaner and more efficient in using the resources we have. The technology that the world possesses
today is underdeveloped when referring to solar and wind energy. The research needed for the
extensive use of wind and solar energy should be a priority for today s world because it will
reduce the monetary cost of energy in the long run, decrease the negative effects of burning
fossil fuels on our atmosphere, and preserve the natural resources of the Earth. To begin, the use
of solar energy is not something new that has been recently discovered. Solar power has been
utilized in many different ways dating back to the ancient Egyptians. Surprising as it is, we
utilize the power today in similar ways to what the Egyptians used it for. Common uses of solar
energy are drying objects such as clothing and other necessities and growing crops (Solar Energy
par. 6). The broad use of solar energy continues to arise in many different and unique ways. A
scientist by the name of Joseph Priestly used solar power to perform an experiment involving the
isolation of oxygen (Solar Energy par. 15). The greenhouse is a major invention that helps the
growth of plants and food around the world. Without it, people would not be able to grow

The Pros And Cons Of Fukushima
In an attempt to cool down the reactors, the scientists that works at Fukushima filled each
containment barrier with sea water and a mixture of boric acid. The Boric acid is often used as a
flame retardant and a neutron absorber and is commonly found involved with nuclear reactors
because of its high cross section for neutroncapture. It is often referred to as a neutron poison. The
brown on the mixture decreases the chances of increased thermal fission because it sorbs some of
the thermal neutrons. Fission chain reactions are often powered by the probability the free moving
neutrons will result in fission. By adding boric acid to a coolant, the odds thats a neutron will cause
additional fission is greatly reduced. Unfortunately, when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

And not only did the radiation affect farming and land, but it also had devastating effects on the
ocean s ecosystem. Because of the Fukushima nuclear meltdown, the Pacific Ocean experienced
more discharge of radioactive waste than any other ocean in the world. The immediate effects
were devastating for fishers. Around 56% of all of fisher s catches had noticeable traces of
cesium. Because of such drastic conditions, drastic measures were taken to ensure safety of
Japanese citizens. Fishing was banned off some coasts of the countries for months before it
became regulatory again. The possible threat of radiation poisoning was so great because many
were afraid that it would lead to the regular indigestion of low levels of radiation which can be
extremely harmful to the body s internal organs, causing ionization to the body s cells that lead to
cancer. But in a article published in 2015 by Forbes, a writer specializing in nuclear energy made
an argument that suggested that Fukushima wasn t disastrous because of the radiation, but because
of the tsunami and earthquake. A report by the World Health Organization states that the predicted
risks are low and no observable increases in caner rates above baseline are

Capitalism In The Great Gatsby And The Grapes Of Wrath
In America, most of our parents at a very early age that we should be grateful for what we have.
Even with these teachings Americans are finding it hard to do just that. American Capitalism is
built off of the concept that anybody can buy property, open a practice/start a business, and profit
off of it. One thing that both The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgeraldand The Grapes of Wrath by
John Steinbeck teach us is that the system of American capitalismisn t perfect. Both of these books
show both sides of capitalism, those who make it and those who don t. In both books the rich are
ignoring the bad things they inflict on the poor because it makes them richer and more powerful.

America has been a superpower for about one hundred and ten years. Is it not a coincidence that
about one hundred and ten years ago we as a country started to fully adopt capitalism? Around
that time also America started expanding. Manifest Destiny and expanding our colonial borders
were only able to happen because of the mass amounts of material items we had and the use
/income they provided. It is still one of the reasons why we re still a global superpower and are
home to the best living conditions in the history of mankind. Our poor today still have more money
than the poor people in underdeveloped countries. Even though capitalism is great and had
benefitted the American people in many ways, not everybody has been a winner of the system. No
system can be perfect which is why governments have to learn to adapt and react to situations.
Sometimes the government willingly neglects certain people, or just doesn t know that they haven t
adapted well. For instance, segregation and the Great Depression. In the case of segregation the

J Walter Thompson Essay
J. Walter Thompson has been changing the game of marketing since 1864. J. Walter Thompson
originally started out as a marine. When he finished serving his country, Thompson was then
employed by two advertising brokerage owners to sell space in religious publications. From 1870
1879, the industrial revolution helped America establish a productive economy. Business owners
were able to provide readily available goods to consumers everywhere. Thompson saw this as a
window of opportunity. By 1878 Thompson made his first investment by purchasing Carlton Smith
agency establishing a place of business for the new agency called J. Walter Thompson. During the
1880 s Thompson took another bold step. Due to the rise of innovation and rapid industrialization,...

of his business mindset, Thompson is referred to as The Commodore . One of the most notable

show that creations will stand the test of time.
The result of the Spanish American war opened up new opportunities and markets for the

The Causes And Impacts Of September 11, 2001
On September 11, 2001 a terrorist group hijacked four planes that were flying above the United
States. Two of them were flown into the twin towers of the world center in New York, Another
was crashed into the Pentagon the top military building between Washington D.C and Virginia
and the last plane crashed into a field, 80 miles from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Twin Towers
in New York were severely hit it, injured and killed 403 officers and firefighters,it was a very sad
day. All the people that are alive today and went through it could tell the story what happened in
September 11, 2001. It also killed and injured a lot of civilians, and only about 5 to 15 people
survived that day. Did you know that one plane hit and about a hour later the second one hit and
the twin towers fell and made dust go everywhere. Now I will tell you about the other planes that
was hijacked. One of the other planes hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C outside of
Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It killed 2,753 people and even more could of died. The crash made
a gash that is 30 yards wide and 10 yards deep, puncturing the three outer rings of the building. It
was in fire for 36 hours, and by the time they put it out 189 people were dead. In early October,
2001 they started rebuilding the Pentagon, It was officially completed in February 2003 and it
cost them 5 Billion Dollars to rebuild but it was worth it. Flight 93 was the last plane and it hit a

Compare And Contrast The Hobbit Book And Movie
Compare and Contrast Informational Paper I read the novel, The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien,
afterwards I watched the movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The Hobbit is about a
hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, who is whisked off into an adventure. The adventure is about taking back
treasure from the dragon Smaugfor the a group of dwarves. Along the way, he gets a magic ring
from a creature called Gollum. The Hobbitand its movie are similar and different from each other
in a variety of ways. The elements and ideas of the book are similar to the movie by in the book
and movie Bilbo is reluctant about adventuring, but gains confidence over the adventure, and the
start of the adventure being similar. First, Bilbo starts out reluctant, but gains confidence and
courage over time when told of the adventure in the book and movie. In the book on page 27, Don t
be a fool, Bilbo Baggins! he said to himself, thinking of dragons and all that outlandish nonsense
at your age! The examples display Bilbo being reluctant to go on the adventure, but then
developing courage and confidence by doing more daunting and dangerous tasks which is
shown in both the book and movie. Second, the start of the adventure are both similar in the
book and movie. In the book in chapter 1, Gandalf comes to Bilbo s house to leave the mark on
his door, and all of the dwarves come for An Unexpected Party where they eventually tell Bilbo
that he will be the burglar for the adventure. At the beginning of the movie, Gandalf also comes to

Do Different Brands Of Popcorn Affect How Many Kernels
Do different brands of popcorn affect how many kernels pop?
Introduction
The grocery store shelves are filled with many varieties, sizes, and brands of the same item.
There are numerous kinds of popcorn, large and small, produced by different manufacturers.
Some people choose products based on need, some base their decisions on price and some base
their decision on quality or brand loyalty. With all of these options it can be difficult to choose.
You may want to save money but at what cost? In this experiment we will determine if generics
are equivalent alternatives or if we really get what we pay for. (Bautista, 2006)
Project Design Plan

2.Heat stove at a medium high heat (7/10 on most stove units); let it heat up for 3 minutes
*To keep the heat the same medium high heat for each run of the experiment.
3.Add 1T of peanut oil
*Peanut oil has a higher smoke point and has less of a chance of burning during the experiment.
4.Once stove has reached medium high heat (3 minutes has passed), insert 1 popcorn kernel into the
pot.
*This step makes sure the stove is hot enough for the popcorn to pop.
5.Once test kernel has popped, pour in the popcorn kernels into the pot, put the pot top on, and
immediately start timer for seconds.
*The timer has to be started as soon as the popcorn is put into the pot so that the time stays
consistent. When the top is put on, after the popcorn is put in the pot, it not only keeps the popped
popcorn in the pot during the popping, but also keeps the heat inside allowing the popcorn a greater
chance of absorbing moisture.
6.Once timer has gone off after 30 seconds, quickly remove pot from heating surface and quickly
pour into bowl.
*To make sure the same amount of heat is given to both name brand and generic and is removed
from the stove surface as soon as the timer goes off.
7.Count remaining unpopped seeds Popped kernels are any broken kernels.
*The seeds must be counted in order to determine if name brand popcorn pops better

So she decided to let him in. They had trouble at first but Cracker ended up being the best dog in

sharp bamboo sticks covered with feces so you would get infected. Rick also had to survive

Lack Of Higher Education In The United States
Those pursuing higher education within the United States are facing financial obstacles and unfair
opportunity, especially pertaining to those living within poverty. Whether or not our upcoming
generations will be given the same, if not a greater opportunity towards higher education, is
dependent on our countries decision towards educational reform. Higher educationthrough the
spectrum of equal opportunity, is generating concern from both the public as well as the
government; and while the topic continues to be debated, the debt surrounding our countries
educational system continues to grow. The Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings has brought
this issue forward by creating a National Commission to address Higher Educationon a
governmental level; the National Commission is directing the attention towards the countries costs

The public perception seems to be paying their attention towards the concern of long term debt,
and that most individuals are now seeing higher education as more of a risk rather than a
possible advantage towards their future. The United States higher education system is failing the
people of this country by its ability to segregate the poor from the rich, and generate debt which
shows no signs of digression. The United States needs to address the problem of higher education
if we wish to continue to compete on a global scale. Education should be less about the money and
more about knowledge; the noble thing for our government to do would be to provide the
necessary resources for all individuals so they may pursue their intelligence with equal opportunity;

Recycling is the process of collecting used materials, commonly known as waste, and creating new

However, that should not be applicable for these corporations to neglect the recycling process.
Pollution is increasing and coffee shops are held accountable for that by selling those cups. Other
stakeholders such as NGOs feel that these shops are obligated to provide solutions and be more
regulated. NGOs are very important stakeholders because they can put pressure on governments to
change policies resulting in more difficult business regulations. So, it is better for them to regulate
their paper cup recycling themselves than for the government doing it for them. Finally, addressing
social problems can become financial opportunities such as charging an additional fee for every
paper cup purchased to cover up the extra cost of recycling.
Ultimately, the recycling of paper cups should be more regulated and that is due to the CSR that
each organization should have. By doing so, the pollution would decrease and other stakeholders
will be satisfied.

Analysis Of From Russia With Love
From Russia With Love (1963), directed by Terence Young is the second film in the James Bond
movie franchise. Sean Connery and Robert Shaw headline the film s actors. This film is a spy
thriller with twists and turns and puts James Bond into a position of entrapment and must use his
brains to escape and get back to England alive. From Russia With Love is a timeless classic
through its new standards of filmmaking and characters. This movie also sets the tone for the rest
of the James Bondseries.
The first reason why this film is a classic is because of the introduction of spy gadgets for James
Bond. Bond today is partly known for his use of gadgets to get out of tough situations. This is the
first Bond film that uses these.
When Bond is getting orders to go to Turkey for his mission, he is brought a briefcase that has
hidden knives on the sides and has to be open a different way than normal in order for the opener
of the case not to be sprayed with tear gas. These tools will help him later in the film multiple
when he is in the face of danger.
This scene sets the tone not for just this film but for the many other popular movies of this
franchise through the use of gadgets. A large reason why many people enjoy James Bond is
because of astonishing use of these tools. With help of these gadgets, this movie can be considered
a classic because of the memorable fights in the film.
As with all spy films, there are going to be fight to the death scenes. Although it is predictable
who will win in these films, directors can still make these scenes very suspenseful and exciting.
Young does this exactly in this film with a very memorable fight scene that could be considered
one of the best of all films.
Bond seems to be trapped for good this time when he is in the train car with Donald Grant who
was a gun pointed at Bond. Bond starts talking to Grant and eventually convinces Grant to take
the 50 gold sovereigns. When Grant opens the briefcase, which is given to Bond with spy gadgets,
he is met with a plume of tear gas. This starts the fight as Bond gets up to take the gun. A fight
ensues, going across the small train car and eventually making Bond the winner by killing Grant.
The fight however did

The Effect of Nitrogen and Phosphorus Deficiency on Rye...
Introduction
Plants grow and reproduce and in order to do so they need certain resources. Both external and
internal resources partly determine the plants development. Common resources are water, space
and nutrient obtained from either the plant s environment or food. They get sugar through
photosynthesis using water, light, CO2 and other necessary nutrients. Plants require nutrients to
build molecules so reactions can take place that are required for the plant growth, maintenance and
reproduction (Rush, Gladilina and Condy 2014). These nutrients usually are taken up by the plant
through their roots and leaves. Nitrogen is the most important nutrient to plants, as it is a

The purpose of this research is to find out how nutrients, such as phosphorus and nitrogen affect
plant growth. To find out how the plants are affected by growth in the different nutrient treatments.
With the results found, what does this suggest about how people should fertilize the soil in which
people grow food crops. Using the species of grass rye, the research investigates the effect of the
absence of nitrogen and phosphorus.
By using three different treatments, a full complement of nutrient, a full complement without the
most important nutrient, Nitrogen and a full complement of Phosphorus, the length of the root and
shoot and the biomass are observed and analyzed. If nitrogen was deprived from the rye seedlings
growth process then the biomass, shoot length and root length will be affected more than depriving
the rye seedlings from phosphorus. The null hypothesis would be, if rye was deprived the nutrient
phosphorus, then it would have a larger effect on the rye seedlings shoot length, root length, and
biomass than depriving the plant from nitrogen.

the liquids that are being distilled. [6] The glass beads allow the refluxing liquid to condense, re
evaporate, and then condense again. [6] Fractional distillation is better used for separating mixtures
of liquids that have close boiling point separations.[6] Due to the boiling point of 1
methylcyclohexene being 110В°C, 3 methylcyclohexene being 104В°C, and methylenecyclohexane
being 102 103В°C, fractional distillation was used instead of simple distillation. Even though the
boiling points are different, they are still collected together, making them azeotropes. Due to this,
they cannot be separated by fractional

Summary Of Sandra Bem s The Lenses Of Gender
In Sandra Bem s The Lenses of Gender (1993), Bem s last focus is on how the concepts of
androcentrism and gender polarization create a gendered identity and form our society s
institutions. The most significant aspect to this piece was if men and women were different, and
if so, how to handle that difference in a society. It is very difficult to read this book as a women
in America because the concept of equality seems so easy to me. Treating everybody with the
same respect is a natural response for me, and to know that in this androcentric country I will not
have enough time for my children is heartbreaking. With that said, in the passage a valuable point is
made, Pregnancy is the paradigmatic aspect of female experience that must be taken

Foreign Trade And Foreign Investment
The economy in China has always been inspiring to me, how this country made all of this
civilization and how this country used its economy to overcome the barriers which it faced by
used lots of methods. One of these method is the Exchange Rate Issue in general is the low value
of your currency to increase the investments and therefore, will increase the rate of employment.
So, an important determinant of foreign trade and foreign investment is the exchange rate. A low
value of Chinese RMB makes Chinese exports cheaper and investment in China more attractive if
the investment is to produce for export. Many countries in the world including those in the
European Union, Japan and Taiwan, have adopted the flexible exchange rate system while China
adopted a fixed exchange rateup to July 2005 but the government did change the fixed rate several
times in the 1980s and early 1990s relative to the US dollar as its government deemed
appropriate. Most recently the Chinese government has adopted a managed floating rate with the
government deciding the rate around a small band daily relative to the value of a basket of
foreign currencies but the basket is not explicitly specified. There are pros and cons of the fixed
and the floating exchange ratesystems. (See the Appendix for a more detailed discussion.) A fixed
exchange provides an anchor for the government in the conduct of its monetary and fiscal policy. It
limits the discretionary power of the government in the exercise of its

Data Modeling For A Relational Database Management System
The need to store and evaluate data is a perpetually growing field in the world of information
systems. From the days of using flat files to very large database management systems that store
petabytes of data in real time, the practice of building information from data continues to evolve.
Today, the relational data model is quite ubiquitous and is used in a plethora of information systems
ranging from accounting systems, banks, retail business, and scientific usage. It is important to
understand the concepts involved in data modelingfor a relational databasemanagement system in
order to build an effective and efficient system.
Data models weren t as sophisticated in the early days as they are today. In the 1960 s and 70 s
the first generation data models were comprised of an ad hoc file system with no concept of
relationships between the files (Coronel Morris, 2015). For instance, one file might contain rows
of customer records while another would house invoices. For simple data, file systems worked,
but for large sets of interconnecting data, a data processing specialist was needed to create a
program that fetched the proper data, analyze it, formatted it, and presented it in a report that
made sense to the end user. For every new query, the data processing specialist needed to create a
separate application. Files became increasingly cumbersome the more that were added and they
duplicated quite a bit of data since there were no relationships between files. The time

The Impairment Of Social Interaction
Within the impairment of social interaction, there are many different characteristics that could be a
part of this. Such characteristics include: the desire of isolation, not understanding and knowing
how to work with others in an appropriate manner, being socially awkward, and having a limited
understanding of the two way nature of relationships (Worth, 2005).
The impairment of social language and communication shows in characteristics including: the lack
of language development and lack of understanding with non verbal communication. If the
individual shows characteristics including: preferring repetitive activity and play, being resistant to
change, and difficulty generalizing ideas or knowledge, then those are impairments with flexibility

The Theory Of The International System
Few forces in the world can change, create, and destroy history and nations. However, war
continues to be one of the strongest proponents of these changes. The study of the international
system is comprised of many differing theories. These theories hypothesize the origin of
international structure, events, and how states interact. Specifically, the varying theories present in
international relationsdisagree on the causes of war. Political Realism has been the most dominant
paradigm in the past 70 years of International Relations (Class Notes, August 31). This paradigm
stresses the anarchic structure of world politics, how this structure affects interaction and how it can
cause war. Kenneth Waltz, an American political scientist on the forefront of structural realism,
highlights the international system s decentralized and anarchic tendencies. He states, international
politics due to anarchy has been called politics in the absence of government (PAGE NUMBER?).
Additionally, Waltz stresses the component of the self help mindset of anarchy. As anarchy endures,
states will continue to act as selfish units. This mentality often leads to war as anarchy is taken to
mean not just the absence of government, but also the presence of disorder and chaos (Waltz, The
Anarchic Structure of World Politics). In general, realist theories present that states are the principal
actors, every state partakes in rational egoism which is essential to survival, and anarchy is the

Proposed Solution Of The Current Intake Process Essay
A4. Proposed Solution Implement a One Call Transfer line that is answered directly by the A T
nurse who then initiates a conference call between the referring physician and an ER physician.
A4a. Justification of Proposed Solution 5000 calls a month come into the A T department with a
rate of 4 6% for missed calls.
The current process leaves a large gap in service by delaying the transfer of the patient due to the
above contributing factors. Patient safety is a number one priority of our facility, each missed
opportunity for a referral from a regional facility affects patient safety by delaying the necessary
treatment. Alleviating the contributing factors increases the likelihood of further referrals. Each
patient that enters our door generates an estimated revenue of 5000 25,000 dollars, so each missed
opportunity for transfer affects the bottom line which in turn affects each department and the level
of care we can provide to patients.
A5. Implementation Resources Restructuring of the current intake process will require utilization
of multilayered resources, which will include time, materials, personnel and money
Time
Addition of a telephone line with a designated number for the One Call Transfer line
Development of a new referral intake form
Development of change in policy to reflect new referral intake process

Social Disorganization Theory And Cultural Deviance Theory
As criminologist continue research on the sociological theories as it relates to the social structure,
social process and the impact of social life. There is still room to compare and contrast the social
structure theories that include social disorganization theory, strain theories and cultural deviance
theory. The social disorganization theory was first referenced with the displacement among
immigrants. Scholars believed this was due to the immigrants inability to transfer norms and values
from their first homes in the old country to the new culture. It was the ideology and values along
with the competition for dominance of the concepts and beliefs that became the foundation for the

The concept was known as defensible space. It was at a conference where police officers,
criminologists, and architects met and discussed crime concerns specifically in public housing
which progressed into changes in design that will enhance barriers, clarify boundaries and reduce

In the social structure theory the strain principle is addressed. It deals with the pressure that
individuals encounter when attempting to reach socially determined goals (Schmalleger, 2012). In
the field of criminology the strain theory is associated with resulting to deviant behavior as a way
to solve the frustrations of social environment. The term anomie was used by Robert Merton in the
strain theory as the condition and single encounter when the means to achieve goals are limited to
particular groups. However anomie was first introduced by Emile Durkheim in 1897. Durkheim
associated the term anomie and normlessness or deregulation which progresses to deviant behavior,
because of decreased proper control over actions. These practices cause people to struggle with
their position in society and making adjustments to life (Schmalleger, 2012). Merton expounded on
the anomie concept where individuals who can achieve these goals and do not have the

Factors Influencing Flashbulb Memories
Factors Affecting Flashbulb Memories
Flashbulb memories are the recollections of one s personal experiences upon learning about an
important, emotionally arousing event. Originally pioneered by Brown and Kulik looking at the
reactions to the assassination of President Kennedy, they found that people s memories were
particularly vivid (1977). They hypothesised that as well as being extremely vivid, flashbulb
memories are also characterised by long lasting accuracy. However, research has shown variation
in the evidence supporting this notion, implying that there are a number of factors that influence
the accuracy of flashbulb memories. It had also been argued that flashbulb memories cannot be
characterised by accuracy at all, a debate that will also be considered. This essay will explore a
number of factors that have been suggested by literature and evaluate its validity.
Before reviewing the accuracy of flashbulb memory, it is important to consider that not all research
supports Brown and Kulik s description of flashbulb memories as highly accurate (1977). For
instance, Talarico and Rubin compared the consistency of September 11 terrorist attacks flashbulb
memories with everyday memories and found no difference with equal amounts decay in both cases

Ice cream is rather a complex mixture of different particles interacting with each other to create

Edward Bernett Tylor was an English anthropologist and the founder of cultural anthropology. Tylor
was focused on defining the context of the scientific study of anthropology that was based on

Rather, any individual who had three or four Jewish grandparents was characterized as a Jew,

Cultural Connotation Behind The Rhetoric Of Escapism
In this book that tries to understand the cultural connotation behind the rhetoric of escapism and its
noun of the escapist, the author tries to correlate the word s significance with the growth and
evolution of human character as well as the connection of death itself. Her argument revolves
around the notion that there are various types of escapism and some of which include the
traditional and dynamic type. The traditional form of escapism focuses on the idea that a character
is trying to escape his current situation but comes to the realization that death is the only end goal
and thus begins questioning the different systems that transcend death. The dynamic form focuses
on the speculation that characters who seek death willingly are, in

Advertisement Analysis Of An Advertisement
There are many things that go in to make an advertisement successful for the audience. In 2014, a
photography blogger, Johnny Baker, posted a set of four photos stating that smoking dulls your
senses. The ad is successful because of the use of how simple and plain the photos are but also
explaining the true facts and how dangerous and expensive smokingis. To understand the purpose of
this print advertisement, you must understand why Baker created these. He states, I created still
life scenes that represented certain facts about smoking, these facts were chosen as they would
be off putting to new smokers and people that smoke already. (baker)I feel the ad appeals more
towards women than men but also relates a little to everyone because it talks about the effects
that smoking has during a pregnancy and how smoking can cause your skin to wrinkle and age
faster. This is important because pregnancy is wanted for most women and smoking can cause
serious affect to fertility. Also, men do not care as much about wrinkles like women. All four of
the photos are items, but what makes the message so powerful is Baker creates them with
cardboard. He says he did this to make it eye catching and to replicate the color of the
addictiveness, which is nicotine. The first picture to appear, appeals to everyone because
everybody needs food to survive. It shows a drink, a hamburger and some fries, but all made from
cardboard. The caption explains that smoking dulls your

Animal Vivisection
Live animal dissection have been recorded in ancient Greek writings from as early as 500 BC.
Vivisection (dissection of living organisms) was first practiced on humans in ancient Rome, but it
was soon prohibited and thus the need for animal subjects.
During the early stages of animal testing, Many philosophers debated on animal vivisection,
Aristotle argued that animals lacked intelligence, and so the meaning of right and wrong had no
meaning to them. Theophrastus, Aristotle s successor, disagreed and objected to the vivisection of
animals on the idea that like humans, they can feel pain, and causing pain to animals was an insult
to the gods. Descartes knew that animals could feel, but lacked a conscious, thus he argued that
they were unable to consciously experience those feelings. Many others believed that animals were
automata and that the way they experience pain and feelings is not the same as humans. Not until
animals as pets were becoming more common did people start to really question the morality of
animal vivisections, and thus, the birth of animal rights groups started popping up in 19th century
England.
Theodora Capaldo is president of the New England Anti Vivisection Society(NEAVS). An animal
rights organization with a goal to end the use of animals in research, testing and science. NEAVS is
dedicated to giving outreach and education for helping replace animals with more modern
alternatives that are more efficient, ethical and humane. In Capaldo s article

Essay on Be Our Guest Case
Be Our Guest
Be Our Guest, a Boston based company, is a rapidly growing equipment rental company with
substantial seasonality in its revenues and profits. For years, the company has been renting party
supplies and furniture to caterers, event planners and hotels; it has also managed to grow
gradually in a very volatile and seasonal business. The founder, Stephen Lizio and co owners Al
Lovata and Simone Williamson found it difficult to fund daily operations because of seasonal
cash shortages. In 1996, the company had secured a $100,000 revolving line of credit at the prime
rate plus 1.5%, and a $390,000 five year loan at a fixed rate of 9.25%. By the end of 1997, the loan

In the short run, refinancing its existing debt to obtain better terms, such as lower interest rates, is
also a likely way to quickly free up cash. The company has very strong balance sheet and
profitable growth, so it has plenty of bargaining power to negotiate a better deal with State Street,
especially in a banking climate where financing is plentiful. All of those covenant on State Street s
loan, like prohibiting two consecutive quarters of net losses and not incur a net loss for any fiscal
year, suggest further that Be Our Guest may need to find another lender who will not be as strict
with its terms. Ultimately, the company must devise a plan for funding its growth long term. While
refinanced bank loans may be adequate to finance the company, it should consider raising funds
from selling equity. Proceeds from such a deal might be invested in a business that generates
revenue during Be Our Guest s slow seasons and eases the firm s reliance on credit for working
capital. The way the company should approach the bank should be in a way that would allow Be
Our Guest be comfortable, specify its own terms and not let the bank tell them what to do. The
company is in good standing in terms of sales and revenues. Even though they have low seasons,
the bank needs to accept the fact that this company is in seasonal business and that profits come at

  • 2. Alternative Energies Essays Do you have to pay to put fuel in a vehicle? I know I do and it s becoming more of a large burden rather than just another small expense of living. It s safe to say that the majority of people owning motor vehicles dislike the constant fluctuation in the price of oil and gasoline. The four worst polluters when it comes to the burning of fossil fuels are the United States, China, Japan, and Britain (Editorial par. 3). At the rate at which it is rising now, vehicles are soon going to be a luxury because people will not be able to afford the price of fuel. One possible solution to this problem, and many other instances that rely on the burning of fossil fuels, is the use of renewable energysources. Two of the more notable energies are solar... The technology that the world possesses today is underdeveloped when referring to solar and wind energy. The research needed for the extensive use of wind and solar energy should be a priority for today s world because it will reduce the monetary cost of energy in the long run, decrease the negative effects of burning fossil fuels on our atmosphere, and preserve the natural resources of the Earth. To begin, the use of solar energy is not something new that has been recently discovered. Solar power has been utilized in many different ways dating back to the ancient Egyptians. Surprising as it is, we utilize the power today in similar ways to what the Egyptians used it for. Common uses of solar energy are drying objects such as clothing and other necessities and growing crops (Solar Energy par. 6). The broad use of solar energy continues to arise in many different and unique ways. A scientist by the name of Joseph Priestly used solar power to perform an experiment involving the isolation of oxygen (Solar Energy par. 15). The greenhouse is a major invention that helps the growth of plants and food around the world. Without it, people would not be able to grow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Fukushima In an attempt to cool down the reactors, the scientists that works at Fukushima filled each containment barrier with sea water and a mixture of boric acid. The Boric acid is often used as a flame retardant and a neutron absorber and is commonly found involved with nuclear reactors because of its high cross section for neutroncapture. It is often referred to as a neutron poison. The brown on the mixture decreases the chances of increased thermal fission because it sorbs some of the thermal neutrons. Fission chain reactions are often powered by the probability the free moving neutrons will result in fission. By adding boric acid to a coolant, the odds thats a neutron will cause additional fission is greatly reduced. Unfortunately, when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And not only did the radiation affect farming and land, but it also had devastating effects on the ocean s ecosystem. Because of the Fukushima nuclear meltdown, the Pacific Ocean experienced more discharge of radioactive waste than any other ocean in the world. The immediate effects were devastating for fishers. Around 56% of all of fisher s catches had noticeable traces of cesium. Because of such drastic conditions, drastic measures were taken to ensure safety of Japanese citizens. Fishing was banned off some coasts of the countries for months before it became regulatory again. The possible threat of radiation poisoning was so great because many were afraid that it would lead to the regular indigestion of low levels of radiation which can be extremely harmful to the body s internal organs, causing ionization to the body s cells that lead to cancer. But in a article published in 2015 by Forbes, a writer specializing in nuclear energy made an argument that suggested that Fukushima wasn t disastrous because of the radiation, but because of the tsunami and earthquake. • 5. Capitalism In The Great Gatsby And The Grapes Of Wrath In America, most of our parents at a very early age that we should be grateful for what we have. Even with these teachings Americans are finding it hard to do just that. American Capitalism is built off of the concept that anybody can buy property, open a practice/start a business, and profit off of it. One thing that both The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgeraldand The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck teach us is that the system of American capitalismisn t perfect. Both of these books show both sides of capitalism, those who make it and those who don t. In both books the rich are ignoring the bad things they inflict on the poor because it makes them richer and more powerful. As Rick Danko said, As time goes on we get closer to that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... America has been a superpower for about one hundred and ten years. Is it not a coincidence that about one hundred and ten years ago we as a country started to fully adopt capitalism? Around that time also America started expanding. Manifest Destiny and expanding our colonial borders were only able to happen because of the mass amounts of material items we had and the use /income they provided. It is still one of the reasons why we re still a global superpower and are home to the best living conditions in the history of mankind. Our poor today still have more money than the poor people in underdeveloped countries. Even though capitalism is great and had benefitted the American people in many ways, not everybody has been a winner of the system. No system can be perfect which is why governments have to learn to adapt and react to situations. From Russia With Love is a timeless classic through its new standards of filmmaking and characters. This movie also sets the tone for the rest of the James Bondseries. The first reason why this film is a classic is because of the introduction of spy gadgets for James Bond. Bond today is partly known for his use of gadgets to get out of tough situations. This is the first Bond film that uses these. When Bond is getting orders to go to Turkey for his mission, he is brought a briefcase that has hidden knives on the sides and has to be open a different way than normal in order for the opener of the case not to be sprayed with tear gas. These tools will help him later in the film multiple when he is in the face of danger. Plants require nutrients to build molecules so reactions can take place that are required for the plant growth, maintenance and reproduction (Rush, Gladilina and Condy 2014). Using the species of grass rye, the research investigates the effect of the absence of nitrogen and phosphorus. Today, the relational data model is quite ubiquitous and is used in a plethora of information systems ranging from accounting systems, banks, retail business, and scientific usage. It is important to understand the concepts involved in data modelingfor a relational databasemanagement system in order to build an effective and efficient system. Data models weren t as sophisticated in the early days as they are today. In the 1960 s and 70 s the first generation data models were comprised of an ad hoc file system with no concept of relationships between the files (Coronel Morris, 2015). For instance, one file might contain rows of customer records while another would house invoices. For simple data, file systems worked, but for large sets of interconnecting data, a data processing specialist was needed to create a program that fetched the proper data, analyze it, formatted it, and presented it in a report that made sense to the end user. For every new query, the data processing specialist needed to create a separate application. Files became increasingly cumbersome the more that were added and they duplicated quite a bit of data since there were no relationships between files. The time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These theories hypothesize the origin of international structure, events, and how states interact. Specifically, the varying theories present in international relationsdisagree on the causes of war. Political Realism has been the most dominant paradigm in the past 70 years of International Relations (Class Notes, August 31). This paradigm stresses the anarchic structure of world politics, how this structure affects interaction and how it can cause war. Kenneth Waltz, an American political scientist on the forefront of structural realism, highlights the international system s decentralized and anarchic tendencies. He states, international politics due to anarchy has been called politics in the absence of government (PAGE NUMBER?). Additionally, Waltz stresses the component of the self help mindset of anarchy. As anarchy endures, states will continue to act as selfish units. This mentality often leads to war as anarchy is taken to mean not just the absence of government, but also the presence of disorder and chaos (Waltz, The Anarchic Structure of World Politics). In general, realist theories present that states are the principal actors, every state partakes in rational egoism which is essential to survival, and anarchy is the dominant ... Factors Influencing Flashbulb Memories Factors Affecting Flashbulb Memories Flashbulb memories are the recollections of one s personal experiences upon learning about an important, emotionally arousing event. Originally pioneered by Brown and Kulik looking at the reactions to the assassination of President Kennedy, they found that people s memories were particularly vivid (1977). They hypothesised that as well as being extremely vivid, flashbulb memories are also characterised by long lasting accuracy. However, research has shown variation in the evidence supporting this notion, implying that there are a number of factors that influence the accuracy of flashbulb memories. It had also been argued that flashbulb memories cannot be characterised by accuracy at all, a debate that will also be considered. This essay will explore a number of factors that have been suggested by literature and evaluate its validity. Before reviewing the accuracy of flashbulb memory, it is important to consider that not all research supports Brown and Kulik s description of flashbulb memories as highly accurate (1977). Vivisection (dissection of living organisms) was first practiced on humans in ancient Rome, but it was soon prohibited and thus the need for animal subjects. During the early stages of animal testing, Many philosophers debated on animal vivisection, Aristotle argued that animals lacked intelligence, and so the meaning of right and wrong had no meaning to them. Theophrastus, Aristotle s successor, disagreed and objected to the vivisection of animals on the idea that like humans, they can feel pain, and causing pain to animals was an insult to the gods. Descartes knew that animals could feel, but lacked a conscious, thus he argued that they were unable to consciously experience those feelings. Many others believed that animals were automata and that the way they experience pain and feelings is not the same as humans. Not until animals as pets were becoming more common did people start to really question the morality of animal vivisections, and thus, the birth of animal rights groups started popping up in 19th century England.
