Soundcloud In The Movie Industry
Everywhere people look, there is a screen. Whether it s a laptop, television, phone, tablet, or a cinema,
screens encompass society. Additionally, the content we watch on these devices is growing at a
prolific rate. This is due to easy access of programs, like Final Cut, Premiere Pro, and iMovie, that
allow basically anyone to make their own video or movie. Some say that this ability to produce
movies easier than ever before poses a threat to the integrity of the movie industry, claiming streaming
sites, legitimate or otherwise, are shifting people away from the theater and moving them toward
home entertainment. However, I believe this change in film production is only creating more sub
genres of film, and not actually degrading Cinema s good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soundcloud is a relatively new music streaming site that enables up and coming rappers to easily
release their content to a large audience. Many rappers, now referred to as soundcloud rappers, use
this site to increase their chances of stardom in an otherwise competitive enterprise. Artists such as Lil
Yachty, XXX Tentacion, Lil Pump, Lil Uzi Vert, and Jay Critch, all became famous by utilizing the
streaming sites fan base to gain followers. This rise in Soundcloud rappers created a subgenre of hip
hop music, known as soundcloud rap, without degrading the integrity of hip hop. While this subgenre
has increased in popularity in the past year significantly, artists that represent the gems of hip hop, like
Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, J Cole, Jay Z, and Schoolboy Q, all still play a major role in
mainstream hip hop, maintaining the fundamentals of genre. In addition, many of these notably artist
of the hip hop industry use their celebrity status to bolster the growth of the Soundcloud rappers. For
Instance, Chance the Rapper, who won three awards at the 59th Grammy Award, promoted the use of
free music to enable new artists to show their talent to a large audience, and also supported
Soundcloud when their finances were limited. Ultimately, when easy access to recording and releasing
music was introduced to rising

Expose Participants To Sleep Deprivation
I consider that the experiment is one you have in mind is interesting indeed. I also consider that you
have mentioned in detail the key variables; furthermore, the formulation of your hypothesis is specific
and can be measurable. In your study you propose to expose participants to sleep deprivation for 30
days. This could be an obstacle to be approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). IRB are the
entities that review proposals for studies to determine if they comply with the requirements of the
code of ethics. Participants, who are not used to lack of sleep, could have an accident while driving
and/or at the workplace (if they operate machinery or other equipment that require full attention). In

Essay On Beauty Of The Yard
Mesmerizing beauty of the yard:
Gazing out of my bedroom window one night, I witnessed a breathtaking view of the yard. As if you
are transferred into a fairy tale. The sky seemed like a piece of beautiful painting. The whole ambiance
of the space was captivating. The fluffy clouds were dancing around the moon making the light falling
on the ground to glimmer dramatically. By the passing time the cloud shift shapes into something new
and exciting each time. The stone pathway led one to the exquisite marble fountain. The soft
moonlight hitting the marble make it shine as white as pearls. The moonlight made everything, the
flowers the tree leaves and bushes all glittered like jewels. A light breeze was making the branches
dance to their own rhythm. The cool wind carrying the smell of the flowers was a reminder of a spring
day. The chirping of night life added more life to the whole scenario. The soothing environment of the
yard portrayed the idea of how the heaven must look like.
Horror of the yard: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The horrific scenario was as if you are living your worst nightmare. The thick clouds covering the
moon made it impossible for the light to penetrate through. This made the yard dark and gloomy as a
graveyard. The transformation of the clouds from one shape to another made the night even scarier.
The stone pathway led one to a dirty and broken marble fountain. The little light that manages to pass
through the clouds highlights the broken fountain more revealing its flaws. The moonlight escaping
the clutches of the clouds cast terrifying shadows. The cold breeze sways the branches making them
dance like ghosts. The air carried a horrible stench of decomposing leaves and flowers. This made the
scenario much more unsettling. The howling of the night beasts made the night petrifying. The

Cowden Syndrome
A 43 year old woman presented with a one year history of abdominal pain and constipation. She also
gave a history of nodules in her mouth which biopsy showed papilloma (Figure A). In endoscopy
nodularity of the esophageal mucosa was seen in the entire length and a single nodule was seen on the
epiglottis. Coarse nodularity was seen in the stomach from cardia and fundus to the antrum.
Nodularity of the bulb and D2 was also seen and multiple polyps of different sizes were seen in colon

1997, germline mutations in the PTEN gene (phosphatase and tensin homology, deleted on
chromosome 10) on 10q23 were first reported in families with this syndrome. Hamartomas in Cowden
syndrome affect all three germ cell layers but most commonly arise from ectodermal and endodermal
elements. Almost all patients (90% to 100%) have mucocutaneous lesions that include
trichilemmomas, acral keratoses, and oral papillomas. Breast lesions affect the majority of female
patients and include fibroadenomas, fibrocystic disease, and adenocarcinomas (25% to 50%). Thyroid
abnormalities, such as multinodular goiter and follicular adenoma, are found in one half to two thirds
of patients. Thyroid carcinoma occurs in 3% to 10% of patients. Macrocephaly, cerebellar
gangliocytoma, and genitourinary malformations are also frequent components of Cowden syndrome.

Mr Nobody Character Analysis
Mr. Nobody is a fantasy/drama written by Jack Van Dormael also known as the director that associates
a lot of his films with characters who have mental disabilities or physical disabilities. The rated R film
that contained sexuality/nudity, strong language, and violent images was released in 2009. Mr.
Nobody was watched on Netflix by TV. It was a confusing movie at first, but is easy to catch on along
the way. The protagonist is named nemo, also known as the lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars. He
is the last mortal human on earth to die and is being watched every second of his last moments like a
zoo animal by these weird, futuristic, and immortal humans. Mr. Nobody is trying to remember his
whole life step by step by the help of a man who has the Mike Tyson tattoo imprinted all over his face.
The story begins in the year of 2092. The whole film consisted of high key lighting and the futuristic
scenes looked a lot like what is described a limbo setting. The wide shots captured a colorful palette
setting similar to Wes Anderson childlike color palette . There was various flashbacks of nemo s
younger self and his many infinite possibilities and pathways he could ve taken. Dormael really
wanted the audience to analyze the character s physical appearance and study every pore upon their
face due to many face close up shots captured throughout the movie such as 7:39, 11:13, 17:16, 37:48,
54:14, 1:28:57, and counting. The pool scene (25:40) seemed like a shot that needed a

The Effects Of Advertising On The Advertising Industry
Over the past decade, the influences of the advertising industry have been growing significantly and it
has become a part of our daily life. Everyone gets exposed to advertisements, because they appear
everywhere: on newspapers, fliers lying on the ground, on your favorite TV shows, and you can t even
browsing the Internet without accidentally clicking on 10 random ads. Since advertising has become
such a big impact on our life, advertising companies try to come up with new and effective ideas for
their ads, in order to compete with others. Sadly, advertisements todays seems to be losing its
creativity and starting to focus more on the objectification and sexualization of women. The Lego for
adults ad campaign gives us a clear example of how the idea of sexual advertisement is being
exploited by advertising companies.
Lego for adults is a series of ads created by Lego, and just by taking a brief look at it, we can easily
notice that the main focus of these ads is all about projecting the sexualized image of women instead
of the actual product. This series of commercials first shows a typical American style living room as a
background, but the stand out point they want us to look at is the female model inside the room, either
half naked or completely naked, portraying a seductive pose. To make it even better, the model don t
even get presented as a complete person, but rather a pixilated , brick like version. The top left of
every advertisement is the name of the

Latin America Foreign Policy Essay
Latin America cannot be categorized as one homogenous block. In spite of sharing multiple aspects
culture, language, and history there is not a single standard culture that distinguishes the region. One
aspect of Latin American culture, regarding foreign policy, is a prevalent respect for the norm of
sovereignty and non intervention. There exists a strong disposition to follow international law as a
means to prevent war or at the very least ward off potential intervention by extraregional powers.
Accordingly, the factor of self interests and self preservation creates a divergent spectrum of foreign
policies within these countries. Thus, there is a unique propensity of domestic politics primarily from
those leaders in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A comparative analysis will be made between a legalistic and pragmatic/realistic approaches. Taking
into account that each country is independent from each other, and with differing interests, this essay
will give multiple reasons as to why such a variety in policy exists. Accordingly, this essay will show
a propensity for states to apply the foreign policy development strategy that best fits their needs.
Although there may be a sense of preferential treatment for some strategies, Latin American countries
are not inherently bound to a specific development scheme.
The Legalistic Nature of Latin America
Legalism as a cornerstone of Latin American norms has effectively shaped the relationship between
how these states relate to each other and the world. According to Arie Kacowicz, it was considered
honorable for a country to meet its lawful commitments not divorced from considerations of national
interests such as prestige and reputation. When a region s identity relies so much on traditional
legacies, the trend is to lean towards the accepted norms that culturally tie the region. In its simplest
terms, norms are standards of behavior or laws that oversee the behavior of a societal block. Although,
Latin America cannot be studied as a homogenous block, countries in the region vary in their
alignment patterns independently of each other in an attempt to pursue self interests. There is,
however, enough of a social

Eddie Carbone is a complicated character, some say he is a villain due to the actions that he takes,
others sympathise with him, saying that he is a victim. You can view him in different lights, although
he acts, some may say, in a villainous manner, he is a victim of his feelings, confused and unsure of

Consider The Lobsters By David Foster Wallace Summary
Animals as well as humans have been around for an extended period of time showing that there
obviously has been some sort of interactions between them throughout the years which may not have
always been all the bad. They have been here for hundreds of thousands of years. They are our main
source of comfort, happiness, joy, fun, and of course: food. Without animals we would not be at the
point in life where we are today. Our next best source of food besides animals would have to be plants
and who wants to eat plants all the time for every meal and only that? The treatment of those animals
that we use as a food source and even the ones as pets is not always positive. Lobsters, a primary food
source for the wealthy, are treated very poorly, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the essay Ethics and the New Genetics by The Dalai Lama the most information about cloning is
found. Within his first couple pages he makes sure that he gets he view on the idea known. In
principle, I have no objection to cloning as such as a technological instrument for medical and
therapeutic purposes (The Dalai Lama, 135). Although there are many people who would agree with
the Dalai Lama on the idea that cloning should only be used for medical purposes there are many
people who would also disagree with him on this and think that it is okay to clone at any point in time
for any reason, simply because they can and they want to. I once saw a BBC documentary which
simulated such creatures through computer animation, with some distinctively recognizable human
features. I was horrified (The Dalai Lama 135). The first successful attempt at cloning was Dolly the
sheep. Animals were used as test subjects for cloning because who in their right mind would practice
something that could end badly on something or someone that actually does something useful in this
world. No one is going to start out testing on a human because that is just pictured as being wrong. So
why is it fair to test something, that we have no idea how it will react, on a helpless animal. The
animal cannot prevent the testing from happening simply because it is an animal and it does not have

Essay On Abolishment Of The Juvenile Courts
I am arguing against the abolishment of the juvenile courts, as opposed to the alternative, which leaves
juveniles no chance of rehabilitation and returning to society. The intent of the juvenile court was to
rehabilitee and return the juvenile to society through intervention and supervision, rather than focusing
on the guilt and punishment. The juvenile courts were given great discretion to evaluate the individual
needs of each juvenile. Therefore, the juvenile courts were designed to operate like social welfare
agencies to focus on the best interests of the child. The juvenile courts purpose is to recognize the
differences between juveniles and adults. Position As we learned in CJAD330 and other juvenile
related courses, the juvenile court was informal and there was no determining guilt or innocence, so it
did not require legal representation. The doctrine of parens patriac give judges the authority to act in
loco parentis, basically permits the state to act in place of the parents. Throughout the years the
juvenile courts acted under a traditional model of treatment and rehabilitation, which all brought
concerns about excessive punishment and lack of legal protections for juveniles that extended due
process protections to juveniles. The juvenile courts have become more formal; juveniles were given
the right to legal representation, and more adversarial. How should juveniles be handled? Do juveniles
have due process safeguards? Whether or not to abolish the juvenile

Pump And Treat
Throughout the past few years, Fruitvale has been experiencing a severe water crisis. The banned
pesticide No Bug contaminated the north end of Fruitvale. Recently, the contaminate has been
spreading near the Fruitvale Municipal Water Well. If the water well gets contaminated, Fruitvale
would be without a reliable, clean water source. A common and safe method for contaminated water
clean up is Pump and Treat. Pump and Treat pumps groundwater from the effected wells to an above
ground treatment system. From there, the treatment system removes and contains the contaminate
plume. Containing the plume keeps the contaminate from spreading and lowering the future
possibility of causing more problems for Fruitvale. This method is time sparing and safe. Pump and
Treat is estimated to be completed in 6 to 9 months. Also, from containing the plume, no wildlife
habitats, rivers or lakes, or drinking water sources would be effected by the contaminate. Throughout
this method no harmful exposure to wildlife or humans will occur. Pump and Treat also is a popular

Katniss matured hunting in the wilderness found outside District Twelve s useless electric fence. She
relied on nature to make a living, since her game fed her family and with it she was able to trade other
objects. This all changed once she was in the arena. Nature was less of a friend, and more of an
enemy. Several plants and animals were genetically manipulated so that they could harm tributes and
possibly lead to their death. Now Katniss had to find ways on how to adapt to the new environment
and use it to her advantage. Tracker jackers, are an example of this, since Katniss used them to take
the lives of two tributes in the Games. The violent and extreme conditions she was exposed to were
important to The Hunger Games because they show Katniss s determination. In A Long Way Gone,
Beah is a lover of nature. He constantly admired its beauty and had a connection with nature, but it
was slowly lost in the war. Before the war, Beah was innocent and viewed nature as a helper and
entertainer. On the other hand, once the war began, the jungle s thick foliage and animals more of a

Literary Analysis Of Anne Bradstreet s The Author To Her Book
When we create something, it s always challenging to reveal it to others. No matter how big or small
our creation might seem we will still have doubts about our work. For instance, writing an essay might
seem simple to some, but the reality of putting words together to state he or she s point is a difficult
task for anyone. In addition, when finished, we tend to have a great uncertainty buried deep down in
our mind reminding either our work is great or it needs improvement. Poet, Anne Bradstreet, in her
poem, The Author of Her Book, also experiences the uncertainty and frustration that creating
something with your own hands brings. In the poem, the author describes how imperfect and
unbearable her work seems to her. In addition, the author conveys her attitude throughout the poem in
order to reveal her attachment to her work; hence, the title of the poem The Author to Her Book.
Through the use of poetic devices such as diction, imagery, and metaphors, in order to reveal
Bradstreet s attitude towards her offspring/writing. Bradstreet begins her poem by adopting scathing
diction. The author conveys her attitude through the usage of words like, ill form d and raggs.
Bradstreet uses these words in order to help convey both how critical and masterful she is about her
work. In addition, she writes, [The] offspring of my feeble brain. In this line, Bradstreet emphasizes
the notion of being unsatisfied. The author utilities the word feeble brain in order to address

Microorganisms Can Easily Be Found From Water
Microorganisms can easily be found in water. In third world countries, this can pose a huge threat,
because lots of people can get sick from drinking water. SODIS is a method used by many in
undeveloped countries as means of attaining microbe free water. It involves allowing water to stay
exposed to sunlight in order to kill whatever microbes are living in it. For this experiment, microbial
diversity was determined by collecting a sample of water of different from shaded water and water
directly hit by the sunlight. Microbes were then cultured for 7 days. The abundance of the different
colony types was then counted. Results exhibited that the community from the light area was more
biodiverse. It was concluded that a possible reason for this is due to the different structures of bacteria,
allowing some of them to sustain the light and others to be restricted by it. Since SODIS relies on light
to kill microorganisms, it should be accompanied by another method that will also kill the bacteria that
may survive in the water after being treated in the sunlight.
Introduction
Microbes are any organism that can t be seen with the naked eye. They can be classified as bacteria,
protists, fungi and sometimes even parasites. Many different types of microbes can exist within a
community, which means that they have the potential to have a high species diversity (Reece et. al.

Technology In The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games presents a rather dystopian alternative to life in the United States as compared to
the present time. To audiences, the story provides exciting entertainment as well as raising many
ethical, moral, and political questions. However, there is another aspect of The Hunger Games which
proves fascinating in an economical sense the technology. Throughout the drama, contrasts in
technological advancement show how important technology is to economic health.
In the beginning of the film, District 12 is shown to be a place whose residence are barely surviving.
With food being scarce and the dangerous employment of the mines providing little support, the
people of the district represent one of the lowest social classes in Panem. What little economy exists is
based on trading and bartering rather than on the transfer of currency. Even those type of exchanges
seen and mentioned in the movie are for necessities, such as food and clothes, and not often for
luxuries. The lack of technology is especially startling. Minimal electricity is to be found, and even
basic plumbing seems nonexistent in most homes. People are forced to work the mines manually with
little safety gear, as made evident in the death of Katniss s father, and with little compensation, as
made evident by the extreme scarcity.
Considering that the civil war had been around seventy four years earlier, the low state of District 12
is both economically and technologically surprising. After all that time,

Brand identity and brand image are two distinct yet interrelated dimensions of brand building. Brand
identity entails the strategic efforts of firms to assign a brand with unique characteristics in a bid to
achieve positive perceptions by target consumers (Nandan, 2005).
The ingredients of a brand are the product itself, the packaging, the brand name, the promotion, the
advertising and the overall presentation. The brand owner assembles these attributes and blends them
in a unique way.
A key to enhancing the equity of a brand is the selection of an appropriate branding strategy. Laforet
and Saunders (1999) define branding strategy as the way companies mix and match their corporate,
house, family and individual brand types for their products or services. This mix and match of brand
types generates a variety of options for the companies from which they can select a suitable branding
strategy for a product/ service. Furthermore, McDonald et al. (2001) assert that an appropriate
branding strategy is crucial as it would reinforce the desired positioning and hence influence purchase
behaviour. Unfortunately, even the best brand managers have struggled to choose the most appropriate
branding strategy, in part, due to a lack of academic clarity and

Personally speaking, I think the definition of hobbies is that someone prefers do so than go to sleep at

One of them is doing math problems. It is a pleasure for me to solve those intriguing problems. Every

it occurs at a deep night, I will get refreshed by the ecstasy. I was only four when I first tasted the

With programming skills, I finished a number of projects, whose success facilitated me to continue on
my work. For instance, I celebrated my ten year old birthday party by successfully constructing a
program that could either produce or solve sudoku puzzles. On that day, the program gave me a
puzzle, and solved the puzzle itself. I considered this gift as more memorable than any other one. In
my high school, I made a software that helps us reciting English vocabularies by a technique similar to
flashcards. The advantage in efficiency makes it better than the latter. The software, for example,
supports data importing while flashcards do not. In addition to the improvement of manual efficiency,
the software expressed a strong enhancement of the users speed of reciting words, aka., the
effectiveness. It was based on the forgetting curve proposed by Hermann Ebbinghaus, which
quantifies the interval between each repetition of memorizing process. I made a little adjustment to the
values, and set them as the time intervals between the repetitive appearances of a word. In this sense,
the word repeats again and again, and deepens the memorization every time. The memorization
becomes very deep using this strategy. I made a comparison between the efficiency of reciting
vocabularies using the traditional methodology and using this program. The result was that both in one
hour, the traditional way could only make me fully recall approximately 120 words, whereas the

The Life Of Marguerite Johnson
Marguerite Johnson was known for many different attributes in her life. She was a poem writer ,
writer of stories , producer , director , actor and many more different things that gave her the
opportunity in life to be as a known legend. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 4,1928 to her parents
Bailey Johnson and Vivian Baxter Johnson. This was just the beginning on her adventurous lifestyle.
Her parents had come upon an agreement to part their separate ways in life. When deciding this they
also agreed that it was best for their children to live with her grandmother Annie Henderson. Moving
to Rural Stamps, Arkansas her brother Bailey had given Marguerite a nickname Maya .
(noteablebiograophies.com) Living with her grandmother , she gained so much confidence and pride.
Her grandmother was the one to show her how to live with her self and be content with it. Visiting her
mother back to her home town St. Louis, Missouri she was raped by her mother s boyfriend. Maya
testified against him which was very hard on her since she was only an eight year old. Her uncles beat
the offender to death. Maya felt as if she killed him because of the statements she testified against him.
Feeling this way she became silent for five consecutive years She attended public schools in Arkansas.
Her and her brother Bailey joined her mother in California to continue the schooling career. In 1942
her teacher Ms. Bertha Flowers helped Maya to talk again and encouraged her to continue to write the

Summary Of Janus By Ann Beattie
The short story, Janus by Ann Beattie is a story that pays great attention to details. Beattie uses
descriptive words to raise the awareness of the reader and point them to certain objects and characters
that later serve as symbolisms in determining the meaning of the story. Although there are many
details that help illustrate the main idea, we can identify three crucial details that perform a central
function in stressing the meaning of the story. The first central detail is the bowl. The opening line to
the story is, The bowl was perfect. The fact that the bowl was mentioned first and not the protagonist,
Andrea, stresses its significance in the story. Throughout the story the bowl is constantly described as

Unruly Americans And The Origins Of The Constitution
1. Purpose of Book The main purpose behind the book Unruly Americans and the Origins of the
Constitution, by Woody Holton is to demonstrate the authors view on the true intent of the Framers
when writing the Constitution. Although at first glance the book may seem to uphold the idea that the
framers wrote the Constitution in order to protect civil liberties, Holton has a different opinion. To
avoid a one sided book, the author not only looks at the framers intent, but the struggles facing the
American people. This book emphasizes the alternative interpretations offered by Americans on the
origins of the Constitution. Holton s purpose with this book was to show that the framers interests
involved making America more attractive to investors. In order to do so, they purposefully made the
government less democratic with the writing of the Constitution. However, with the addition of the
Bill of Rights, one could argue the Framers had at least a slight concern for the American people and
their civil liberties. In offering alternative interpretations of the origins of the Constitution, the author
accomplishes his secondary purpose, to make the reader challenge what they know about the framing
of the Constitution. Holton details the rebellion of the Unruly Americans against the state and national
governments, using Adonijah Mathews as an ultimate example of the common man. Mathews views
are presented in order to contrast the views of James Madison, whom it seems the author

John R Knipfing s Effects On Christianity
During the reign of Constantine I, the Roman Empire experienced great strides in religious tolerance.
While meeting together in Milan during February 313 AD, Constantine I and Licinius, Roman
emperors, came up with the religious policy for the future of the empire. This policy became known as
the Edict of Milan and forever changed the future of religion, especially Christianity. Over 1600 years
later, in January 1925, a historian named John R. Knipfing wrote an essay analyzing the religious
tolerance during Constantine s reign. This essay focused not only on the Edict of Milan, but also on
the outlook on Christianity and religion that led up to it. It is evident through the comparison of these
two documents how important primary sources such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knipfing analyzes the atmosphere of religious tolerance during Constantine I s reign. Knipfing was an
assistant professor of European History at Ohio State University when this essay was published in
January, 1925. As Knipfing mentioned, this essay was written after World War I, which threw much of
the world into chaos. Knipfing wrote this essay as a historian, analyzing the early part of Constantine s
reign. Since this essay was published in a Catholic journal, there is the possibility the essay may be
biased in the way it looks at religion. While historians strive to be as unbiased as possible, it is almost
impossible to be able to look at everything objectively, leading to at least some bias. Additionally,
since Knipfing s essay was written over 1600 years past the time it was talking about, the essay had to
be based off of primary sources, such as the Edict of Milan. This leads to the possibility of double bias
in this essay, as both Knipfing s and his sources writings may be biased. In this essay, Knipfing begins
by discussing the constant swings back and forth between religious tolerance and intolerance.
Knipfing acknowledges that there had been multiple periods of tolerance before Constantine, but none
of them actually lasted for long. After discussing the Diocletian Persecution, which was occurred until
the time of the Edict of Milan, Knipfing begins discussing the actual edict. Knipfing spends these
pages discussing things other than the edict so readers will be able to understand how people had
looked at religion up until the edict. By giving this background information, readers are better able to
understand the significance of the edict. Additionally, Knipfing makes note of the fact that there was
probably not an actual Edict of Milan. While many people today discuss the edict, Knipfing

However, when the movie has been drastically deviated from the storyline this only confuses and
frustrates the reader. A reader is watching the movie to take away the visual and audio representation
that is lacking in the book and add to the reading experience. In the case of the movie Harold and
Maude, the story stays true to the reader, the movie can be seen as an added bonus to help the reader
reimagine certain aspects of the story. The scene Harold meets Maude (YouTube) is almost word to
word as in the book and it s the way the actors act out the scene that makes the book come alive. On
the other hand, the movie World War Z is a loose adaptation of Brook s novel. In fact, the book and
the movie are so far apart that besides the title there are no resemblances of Brook s creativity. For
instance, in the book it suggests that it in order to become a zombie it s ...going to take a lot longer,

the shock and excitement elements the zombies reanimate within 12 seconds after being bitten like in

Mary Oliver Twist Essay
Introduction
Prostitution looms large in the Victorian consciousness. The image of the fallen woman reflects the
Victorian upper classes ideas about sexuality, gender and class. The prostitute is a staple of 19th
century fiction. Debate about prostitution is also a reflection of cultural anxiety about urbanization.
Victorian ideas about fallenness create the ideological assumptions behind the creation of the
Contagious Diseases Acts. Through the control of sexuality, the Acts reinforced existing patterns of
class and gender domination. They reflected an acceptance of male sexual license. The double
standard allowed male access to fallen women and punished only the women.
Fallenness as Literary Motif

Cultural beliefs about the fallen woman necessitated that she be victim of a sacrificial death. While her
death may have seemed shocking to us, there is no other way that Dickens could have told her story.
Nancy is lost beyond redemption and although she had a heart of gold, her fallenness necessitates her
death. To have redeemed her would have justified prostitution, or at least acknowledged the fact that it
could be a temporary state, and not the road to ruin and a horrible and lonely death.
Oliver s mother is also a fallen woman who meets a sacrificial death although her heart is apparently
good. Her entire family is also consequently ruined. This reads as particularly tragic since she was not
seduced by a rake, but by someone who intended to marry her. No matter; she also had to be sacrificed
to fallenness, along with her entire family. It is a cautionary tale.
There are two examples of fallenness in Mary Barton. One is Mary Barton herself, who is seduced by
dreams of improving her social status via the upper class Carson. Her lust for wealth leaves her at the
mercy of this rake, who has no intention of marrying her anyway.
The true fallen woman is Mary s aunt Esther. She is destined for the street by her love of clothing,
finery, and her class aspirations. When John Barton encounters her on the street again she is the
epitome of the streetwalker, bereft of dignity, morality, and the possibility of salvation.

Herodotus is accused by Edward Said to be progenitor of Orientalism. Regardless of this indictment,
Said fails to observe the fundamental nature of Herodotus s division of the world. Accordingly, he

Comparison Of An Hour And A Pair Of Silk Stockings
Both A Pair of Silk Stockings and The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, were written from a third
person point of view, making the story less subjective and more objective. As a result the reader is
unable to put him or herself into the story. The narrative structures of A Pair of Silk Stockings and The
Story of an Hour differ in that the setting, the time and overall story plots are completely different.
There is one similarity that sticks out, both protagonists are selfish. There is really strong symbolism
and imagery in both stories which puts the reader inside the story. The narrative structure of Chopin s
A Pair of Silk Stockings indicates that the story takes place in a big city, most likely New York or
somewhere similar. This can be assumed because Mrs. Sommers visits a department store, goes to a
shoe department store, a magazine stand, and eats at a fancy restaurant. The fact that she mentions
how the shoe store is across from the department store and only a few feet away there was a magazine
display and the restaurant was on the same corner. Maybe it was a downtown area with lots of shops
and restaurants and the theater. The story starts out with her finding the money and spending a couple

For a number of the challenges associated with aging, consumers can find a helpful ally in the many

specifically to address age related needs) and enhancing their traditional products targeted to seniors
and older boomers. * Changing Households

With respect to physical mobility in particular, the transportation is a key requirement to participate in
the life of the community and to access important goods and services. Transportation issues range
from being housebound due to lack of accessible transportation, to needing unavailable specialized

transportation. Indirectly, consumers with mobility limitations may, overall, have fewer opportunities
to get out and make independent consumer decisions.
3. Why do you think entrepreneurship in a nation decline as its population ages? How could this
impact global marketing? * The cost of health care for elderly people is greater than educational costs
for the young. Hence, population aging will eventually place severe strains on government budgets for
health care and pension plans, and with fewer workers to pay the taxes. * Health may actually decline
due to the lifestyle changes of the urban environment, with its greater stresses and sedentary lifestyles.
At the same time, retirement means that income tax revenues required to fund these programs decline;
the economy shrinks. * For employers: there will have more employers on

1. Introduction
Filter is a device used that removes unwanted noise in the signal.
Classification of filter
Filters are classified into different categories depending on their transfer function.
Linear and nonlinear
Time variant and time invariant
Casual and non casual Analog and digital Passive a ndactive filter
Infinite impulse response (IIR) or finite impulse response (FIR) filter.
IIR(Infinite impulse response
IIR filters are digital filters with infinite impulse response. They have the feedback (a recursive part of
a filter) and are known as recursive digital filters. They are the time invariant systems. IIR filter has
better frequency response than FIR filters.
FIR(Finite impulse response) The transfer function of FIR filter approaches the ideal as the filter order
increases, thus increasing the complexity and amount of time needed for processing input samples of a
signal being filtered.
IIR filters require more multiplication and addition when compared to FIR, because FIR is of a higher
order in comparison to IIR, which is of lower order
Digital filter
A digital filter uses a digital processor

Now that I have discussed the use of force and whether it is excessive or not I will begin to answer the
original question posed. Does the family of the teens have any legal recourse available to them, and if
so what is available to them? The answer to this is yes the families definitely have legal recourse
available to them for a number of reasons. The first mistake the officers made was pulling over the
teens because they thought they might have been involved in a recent string of burglaries. That right
there is a violation of the teens Fourth Amendment to have probable cause to stop them in the first
place. Police officers have to have probable cause or more than a hunch to pull someone over. The
scenario said nothing about the car was pulled over because maybe a witness saw the car leaving the
scene of the crime, or maybe the officer had a description of the suspect and they matched it, he just
thought they might be involved. Secondly, they did question the teens and because of their responses
the officer becomes angry and pulls the teens out of the car. The officer had no right to pull the teens
out of the car because of what they said.

that addresses the issue in how to allocate capital (or resources) among competing investment

defining this problem, Lorie Savage structures it by outlining three separate scenarios:

(Lorie amp; Savage, 1955, p. 234) Turns out this is an Integer Programming optimization problem as
it has identified constraints with the end output being to either accept an investment (using the integer
1), or decline (using the integer 0). Since the Lagrange Multipliers are real values, this is more
specifically classified as a Mixed Integer Programming problem. (Trick, 1998) Their research proved
to be revolutionary as this strayed from the traditional accepted method in using IRR, and this research
has evolved since. One example of this is demonstrated where Seymour Kaplan introduced the
concept of applying the Generalized Lagrange Multiplier (G.L.M.) method with Integer Programming,
using the Lorie Savage problem as a basis for comparison, that found favorable results in the
effectiveness of G.L.M. in producing optimal solutions using NPV to make investment decisions.
(Kaplan, 1966, p. 1136) Building on this research was the introduction of using genetic algorithms
(GA) to solve capital budgeting problems in allowing financial analysts to find optimal investment
combinations for various situations, such as the multiple tax structures a company may encounter.
(Berry amp; Manongga, 2006, p. 96) Expanding on the GA implementation was research conducted
that incorporated fuzzy set theory on problems when investment parameters contained scant or vague
information and therefore had great uncertainty. Xiaoxia Huang created a new mean

Just like how the churn and the dasher were passed down. Quilts that you make are something that can
last forever, even when you do not. One of the ways that Alice Walker really makes the characters
believable and interesting is how she creates a true black women of the South. People who have not
experience the south or even being around African American women do not know how they act or talk
or even if they have different behaviors than us. That sounds ridiculous to some people who have been

Dr. Ouyang uses many value based arguments and with a morally questionable topic, the strategy
makes sense. In paragraph two, Dr. Ouyang states, This is why to me, the issue in question is not
necessarily whether chemical weapons were used, but what the intentions of Assad s regime is, what
has happened thus far to the innocent, and what is likely to happen in the future. She acknowledges
that there is no question that the Assad regime has used chemical weapons so that is not what the
disagreement should be about. In the following paragraph, she speaks about all of the arguments
against military involvement. She ends the paragraph by stating that despite the reasons not to be
involved, she can t turn [her] back on the 110,000 who have died and the six million more who have
fled their homes. By stating the opposing arguments, labeling them as sound, and refuting them by
stating that her moral obligation is more critical, she is using a value based argument. Basically, she
says that although we see that the military involvement may be similar to past failures, our moral
decision is more serious. Later in the article, she even calls to the use of abstract values. She claims
that we should not use military intervention because of the vast reasons many Americans think we
should such as punishing Assad or to send a message. Instead, she says that we should do it for the
lesser known reason to stop the mass killings and crimes

Cloud Computing And The Protection Of Intellectual Property
Trust in Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has a duty to protect data privacy and some countries are going to great measures to
further ensure that their data is kept within their national borders (Trend Micro, 2013). It has been
suggested that new ethics frameworks are necessary in order to instill trust in the industry based on
known parameters that include
the use of critical equipment,
management of critical data,
respect for privacy,
security and longevity of information,
And the protection of intellectual property.
Worldwide, both the public and private sectors have grown in their distrust and discomfort in the
ability of companies to handle user data properly. Trust must be restored by defining a clear line
between legitimate security concerns and an individual s right to privacy. One way to ensure privacy is
by separating the application that is being used (cloud service) from the data it stores and some
providers are already employing this method.
Privacy concerns recently increased after a private company, inBloom secured over 600 New York
schools as a client for student data handling (Trend Micro, 2013). inBloom described its effort as a
plan to integrate a technology that could aggregate and store student information for educational
institutions and then release it to approved third parties that would then personalize tools and
dashboards specifically for classroom educators and those students (Herold, 2014). They became the

each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs. At the end of the month when

Another one of the major things that happened in the 1950s was the Red Scare. What that means is
that people were scared that communists would rise against them. Many of the people were very
affected and according to The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History: Hundreds of
screenwriters, actors, and directors were blacklisted because of their alleged political beliefs, while
teachers, steelworkers, sailors, lawyers, and social workers lost their jobs for similar reasons.More

many people had lost their jobs because the government was suspicious of people.
The government was not doing so well there was so much disloyalty that teachers had to take an oath

The Origins Of The Origin Of Mathematics
The Origins of Mathematics
The Origins When and where is the origins of mathematics?
The origins of mathematics accompanied the evolution of social systems in many ways. The social
development of any society requires some sort of calculation and number system. In the same way, the
arithmetic operations are essential for the development and interaction between people. Words that
describe numbers and operations that enable calculations are the basis for survival. The need to count
how many animals where available for hunting, and the number of people that needed to be feed are
just examples of the needs faced by a pre historic man. All this require the need to develop words,
sounds, or gestures that could be used to describe the numbers of objects and animals, also they had to
develop a type of a counting system that could have allowed them to make the most basic
mathematical operations, for example equal sharing of food. That can explain why the need of
mathematics was so important just from the beginning of times, and how it has been the binding
element that kept the early humans together and help them to coexist and develop into what we are
today. Since the invention of a numbers and counting systems occurred when people started to live
together and formed the first human society, mathematical scenes was the link that helped them to for
societies and to develop a type of communication system and in a way help them to establish the first
trading system which in turn,

Selling high end electronics is big business and being a commissioned employee in that field if your

It really depends on the person style, specifications they are looking for, trust in the brand, and the
depth of their pockets, how much a person is willing to spend for example on a that high definition led

code simply pulled the information and did not include and computation because the finance
department only requested to be able to determine as in pull up the record for employee s commission
paid. The second code will include computation which will divide the yearly salary by twelve months
then multiples the commission rate by the total amount of product sold and lastly add those two
numbers together to get the total compensation for that month. Unfortunately the coding that I am
using is not generating a proper result. However, it should look something like this:

Pet Wearables And Connected Device Technology
Abstract Every year circuit boards and sensors become smaller and more affordable for entrepreneurs
around the world to freely innovate new technologies. Although many of these new technologies are
designed to directly interact with humans, some people are adapting this technology to address the
needs of working canines. These new devices are then being modified to meet the needs of the regular
pet dog owner. New devices for pet dogs cover everything from identification, tracking, vital sign
monitoring, video cameras and environmental temperature fluctuations to algorithms that translate tail
wags and eventually even brain waves into emotions that can be relayed to the owner. Our own
smartphones allow most of these innovations to connect owners with their dogs wearables by the use
of applications. As technology continues to advance, we will continue to see it being used to help
connect owners with their pet dogs. These technologies help owners to have peace of mind and
veterinarians have access to health and activity data that would otherwise not be observable at routine
examinations. Technology and Your Dog:
Pet Wearables and Connected Device Technology
Introduction
The purpose of this research is to provide awareness for upcoming technologies as they pertain to
dogs. The use of computers, smartphones and applications are a part of everyday lives in first world
countries. As technology becomes smaller and more affordable, some gadgets that were originally

Essay on Myer Investment Analysis
Myer Investment Analysis
Industry Analysis
The Australian department store sector has undergone significant change over the past decade. The
discount department store is increasingly competitive. Financial crisis has resulted in higher
unemployment rate and lower consumer sentiment, effecting retailing sales. However, these negative
events have been partially offset by the Federal Government s economic stimulus package and
reduction of official interest rates. In non food industry of Australia, there are restrictive property and
zoning laws, causing barriers for entrants. The leading retailers such as Myer and David Jones have
great brand identification and customer loyalty. Their large scale and mature supply chains ensure
their cost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the uniqueness perceived by the customer and expansive opportunity inferred from the
SWOT analysis (see Appendix B), Myer has employed a differentiation strategy which seeks to satisfy
all customers groups in the market with a full line of non food products. From standing by this
strategy, Myer carries more than 60,000 product lines and approximately 2400 domestic and
international brands across its 11 core product categories including women s swear, menswear, youth
fashion, children s wear, intimate apparel; beauty, fragrance and so on. In addition, Myer has
established a special brand hierarchy which covers a broad range from entry level to luxury price
points, with a focus on modern and fashionable products. Hence, Myer believes its width of products
and brands at a range of price points differentiate the company from other special department retail
stores, and the depth of the product knowledge is a key competitive advantage over the discount
department stores.
Changes
During last few years, the premium department stores suffered from low market demand due to the
impact of the Global Financial Crisis. As a result of this, since 2006, Myer has spent $400 million to
make business turnaround and rebuild cost structure.
The first important change is the design of Myer One loyalty program with free registration. It focuses
on customers needs and preferences thereby helping the company target these specified needs. As can

Personal Statement On Life s Hustle And Bustle
In life s hustle and bustle sometimes it s easy to get lost in the whole process leaving you wondering is
your life leading you instead of you leading it. I needed to find some personal fulfillment in my life.
So I had to do a self check to discover what my true purpose was in this life. How impactful was I in
changing the world. I was completely satisfied raising my son and being engaged in everything he was
involved in. However, the closer it came for him to graduate from high school the more I began to
think about what my new life would be like. I had to deal with the persisting question of what did I
want to do with the rest of my life. Overall, I felt like I was a pretty decent mother, an awesome
friend, a loving sister and I have a faith based foundation. Even with all those great attributes I still
didn t know what my true purpose was here on earth.
When I think of the questions easily, the first thing I thought of was philanthropy. Living a healthy
lifestyle would be next. I m very excited about getting the chance to expound on my future in
leadership and mentoring rolls. Next, I want to explore what full potential and purpose is and how can
I be a positive impact on the world. At this stage of my life I feel that it says Yes to: being a
philanthropist, having a health and wellness for my body and soul as well as being involved in
leadership and mentoring.
Philanthropy was an easy choice for me because it s something that I ve been doing for quite some
time. I

  • 2. Soundcloud In The Movie Industry Everywhere people look, there is a screen. Whether it s a laptop, television, phone, tablet, or a cinema, screens encompass society. Additionally, the content we watch on these devices is growing at a prolific rate. This is due to easy access of programs, like Final Cut, Premiere Pro, and iMovie, that allow basically anyone to make their own video or movie. Some say that this ability to produce movies easier than ever before poses a threat to the integrity of the movie industry, claiming streaming sites, legitimate or otherwise, are shifting people away from the theater and moving them toward home entertainment. However, I believe this change in film production is only creating more sub genres of film, and not actually degrading Cinema s good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, many of these notably artist of the hip hop industry use their celebrity status to bolster the growth of the Soundcloud rappers. The sky seemed like a piece of beautiful painting. The whole ambiance of the space was captivating. The fluffy clouds were dancing around the moon making the light falling on the ground to glimmer dramatically. By the passing time the cloud shift shapes into something new and exciting each time. The stone pathway led one to the exquisite marble fountain. The soft moonlight hitting the marble make it shine as white as pearls. The moonlight made everything, the flowers the tree leaves and bushes all glittered like jewels. A light breeze was making the branches dance to their own rhythm. • 6. Mr Nobody Character Analysis Mr. Nobody is a fantasy/drama written by Jack Van Dormael also known as the director that associates a lot of his films with characters who have mental disabilities or physical disabilities. The rated R film that contained sexuality/nudity, strong language, and violent images was released in 2009. Mr. Nobody was watched on Netflix by TV. It was a confusing movie at first, but is easy to catch on along the way. The protagonist is named nemo, also known as the lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars. He is the last mortal human on earth to die and is being watched every second of his last moments like a zoo animal by these weird, futuristic, and immortal humans. Mr. Nobody is trying to remember his whole life step by step by the help of a man who has the Mike Tyson tattoo imprinted all over his face. The story begins in the year of 2092. The whole film consisted of high key lighting and the futuristic scenes looked a lot like what is described a limbo setting. The wide shots captured a colorful palette setting similar to Wes Anderson childlike color palette . There was various flashbacks of nemo s younger self and his many infinite possibilities and pathways he could ve taken. Dormael really wanted the audience to analyze the character s physical appearance and study every pore upon their face due to many face close up shots captured throughout the movie such as 7:39, 11:13, 17:16, 37:48, 54:14, 1:28:57, and counting. The Effects Of Advertising On The Advertising Industry Over the past decade, the influences of the advertising industry have been growing significantly and it has become a part of our daily life. Everyone gets exposed to advertisements, because they appear everywhere: on newspapers, fliers lying on the ground, on your favorite TV shows, and you can t even browsing the Internet without accidentally clicking on 10 random ads. Since advertising has become such a big impact on our life, advertising companies try to come up with new and effective ideas for their ads, in order to compete with others. Sadly, advertisements todays seems to be losing its creativity and starting to focus more on the objectification and sexualization of women. The Lego for adults ad campaign gives us a clear example of how the idea of sexual advertisement is being exploited by advertising companies. Lego for adults is a series of ads created by Lego, and just by taking a brief look at it, we can easily notice that the main focus of these ads is all about projecting the sexualized image of women instead of the actual product. This series of commercials first shows a typical American style living room as a background, but the stand out point they want us to look at is the female model inside the room, either half naked or completely naked, portraying a seductive pose. To make it even better, the model don t even get presented as a complete person, but rather a pixilated , brick like version. The top left of every advertisement is the name of the ... In spite of sharing multiple aspects culture, language, and history there is not a single standard culture that distinguishes the region. One aspect of Latin American culture, regarding foreign policy, is a prevalent respect for the norm of sovereignty and non intervention. There exists a strong disposition to follow international law as a means to prevent war or at the very least ward off potential intervention by extraregional powers. Accordingly, the factor of self interests and self preservation creates a divergent spectrum of foreign policies within these countries. Taking into account that each country is independent from each other, and with differing interests, this essay will give multiple reasons as to why such a variety in policy exists. Although there may be a sense of preferential treatment for some strategies, Latin American countries are not inherently bound to a specific development scheme. The Legalistic Nature of Latin America Legalism as a cornerstone of Latin American norms has effectively shaped the relationship between how these states relate to each other and the world. According to Arie Kacowicz, it was considered honorable for a country to meet its lawful commitments not divorced from considerations of national interests such as prestige and reputation. When a region s identity relies so much on traditional legacies, the trend is to lean towards the accepted norms that culturally tie the region. In its simplest terms, norms are standards of behavior or laws that oversee the behavior of a societal block. Although, Latin America cannot be studied as a homogenous block, countries in the region vary in their alignment patterns independently of each other in an attempt to pursue self interests. • 11. Consider The Lobsters By David Foster Wallace Summary Animals as well as humans have been around for an extended period of time showing that there obviously has been some sort of interactions between them throughout the years which may not have always been all the bad. They have been here for hundreds of thousands of years. They are our main source of comfort, happiness, joy, fun, and of course: food. Without animals we would not be at the point in life where we are today. Our next best source of food besides animals would have to be plants and who wants to eat plants all the time for every meal and only that? The treatment of those animals that we use as a food source and even the ones as pets is not always positive. Lobsters, a primary food source for the wealthy, are treated very poorly, for ... In principle, I have no objection to cloning as such as a technological instrument for medical and therapeutic purposes (The Dalai Lama, 135). Although there are many people who would agree with the Dalai Lama on the idea that cloning should only be used for medical purposes there are many people who would also disagree with him on this and think that it is okay to clone at any point in time for any reason, simply because they can and they want to. I once saw a BBC documentary which simulated such creatures through computer animation, with some distinctively recognizable human features. I was horrified (The Dalai Lama 135). The first successful attempt at cloning was Dolly the sheep. Animals were used as test subjects for cloning because who in their right mind would practice something that could end badly on something or someone that actually does something useful in this world. No one is going to start out testing on a human because that is just pictured as being wrong. So why is it fair to test something, that we have no idea how it will react, on a helpless animal. • 13. Essay On Abolishment Of The Juvenile Courts I am arguing against the abolishment of the juvenile courts, as opposed to the alternative, which leaves juveniles no chance of rehabilitation and returning to society. The intent of the juvenile court was to rehabilitee and return the juvenile to society through intervention and supervision, rather than focusing on the guilt and punishment. The juvenile courts were given great discretion to evaluate the individual needs of each juvenile. Therefore, the juvenile courts were designed to operate like social welfare agencies to focus on the best interests of the child. The juvenile courts purpose is to recognize the differences between juveniles and adults. Position As we learned in CJAD330 and other juvenile related courses, the juvenile court was informal and there was no determining guilt or innocence, so it did not require legal representation. The doctrine of parens patriac give judges the authority to act in loco parentis, basically permits the state to act in place of the parents. Throughout the years the juvenile courts acted under a traditional model of treatment and rehabilitation, which all brought concerns about excessive punishment and lack of legal protections for juveniles that extended due process protections to juveniles. The juvenile courts have become more formal; juveniles were given the right to legal representation, and more adversarial. How should juveniles be handled? Do juveniles have due process safeguards? Recently, the contaminate has been spreading near the Fruitvale Municipal Water Well. If the water well gets contaminated, Fruitvale would be without a reliable, clean water source. A common and safe method for contaminated water clean up is Pump and Treat. Pump and Treat pumps groundwater from the effected wells to an above ground treatment system. From there, the treatment system removes and contains the contaminate plume. Containing the plume keeps the contaminate from spreading and lowering the future possibility of causing more problems for Fruitvale. This method is time sparing and safe. Pump and Treat is estimated to be completed in 6 to 9 months. Also, from containing the plume, no wildlife habitats, rivers or lakes, or drinking water sources would be effected by the contaminate. No matter how big or small our creation might seem we will still have doubts about our work. For instance, writing an essay might seem simple to some, but the reality of putting words together to state he or she s point is a difficult task for anyone. In addition, when finished, we tend to have a great uncertainty buried deep down in our mind reminding either our work is great or it needs improvement. Poet, Anne Bradstreet, in her poem, The Author of Her Book, also experiences the uncertainty and frustration that creating something with your own hands brings. In the poem, the author describes how imperfect and unbearable her work seems to her. In addition, the author conveys her attitude throughout the poem in order to reveal her attachment to her work; hence, the title of the poem The Author to Her Book. In third world countries, this can pose a huge threat, because lots of people can get sick from drinking water. SODIS is a method used by many in undeveloped countries as means of attaining microbe free water. It involves allowing water to stay exposed to sunlight in order to kill whatever microbes are living in it. For this experiment, microbial diversity was determined by collecting a sample of water of different from shaded water and water directly hit by the sunlight. Microbes were then cultured for 7 days. The abundance of the different colony types was then counted. Results exhibited that the community from the light area was more biodiverse. It was concluded that a possible reason for this is due to the different structures of bacteria, allowing some of them to sustain the light and others to be restricted by it. Since SODIS relies on light to kill microorganisms, it should be accompanied by another method that will also kill the bacteria that may survive in the water after being treated in the sunlight. Introduction Microbes are any organism that can t be seen with the naked eye. They can be classified as bacteria, protists, fungi and sometimes even parasites. To audiences, the story provides exciting entertainment as well as raising many ethical, moral, and political questions. However, there is another aspect of The Hunger Games which proves fascinating in an economical sense the technology. Throughout the drama, contrasts in technological advancement show how important technology is to economic health. In the beginning of the film, District 12 is shown to be a place whose residence are barely surviving. With food being scarce and the dangerous employment of the mines providing little support, the people of the district represent one of the lowest social classes in Panem. What little economy exists is based on trading and bartering rather than on the transfer of currency. Even those type of exchanges seen and mentioned in the movie are for necessities, such as food and clothes, and not often for luxuries. The lack of technology is especially startling. Minimal electricity is to be found, and even basic plumbing seems nonexistent in most homes. People are forced to work the mines manually with little safety gear, as made evident in the death of Katniss s father, and with little compensation, as made evident by the extreme scarcity. Considering that the civil war had been around seventy four years earlier, the low state of District 12 is both economically and technologically surprising. After all that time, ... The brand owner assembles these attributes and blends them in a unique way. A key to enhancing the equity of a brand is the selection of an appropriate branding strategy. Laforet and Saunders (1999) define branding strategy as the way companies mix and match their corporate, house, family and individual brand types for their products or services. This mix and match of brand types generates a variety of options for the companies from which they can select a suitable branding strategy for a product/ service. Furthermore, McDonald et al. In my high school, I made a software that helps us reciting English vocabularies by a technique similar to flashcards. The advantage in efficiency makes it better than the latter. The software, for example, supports data importing while flashcards do not. In addition to the improvement of manual efficiency, the software expressed a strong enhancement of the users speed of reciting words, aka., the effectiveness. It was based on the forgetting curve proposed by Hermann Ebbinghaus, which quantifies the interval between each repetition of memorizing process. I made a little adjustment to the values, and set them as the time intervals between the repetitive appearances of a word. In this sense, the word repeats again and again, and deepens the memorization every time. The memorization becomes very deep using this strategy. • 24. Unruly Americans And The Origins Of The Constitution 1. Purpose of Book The main purpose behind the book Unruly Americans and the Origins of the Constitution, by Woody Holton is to demonstrate the authors view on the true intent of the Framers when writing the Constitution. Although at first glance the book may seem to uphold the idea that the framers wrote the Constitution in order to protect civil liberties, Holton has a different opinion. To avoid a one sided book, the author not only looks at the framers intent, but the struggles facing the American people. This book emphasizes the alternative interpretations offered by Americans on the origins of the Constitution. Holton s purpose with this book was to show that the framers interests involved making America more attractive to investors. In order to do so, they purposefully made the government less democratic with the writing of the Constitution. However, with the addition of the Bill of Rights, one could argue the Framers had at least a slight concern for the American people and their civil liberties. In offering alternative interpretations of the origins of the Constitution, the author accomplishes his secondary purpose, to make the reader challenge what they know about the framing of the Constitution. Holton details the rebellion of the Unruly Americans against the state and national governments, using Adonijah Mathews as an ultimate example of the common man. Mathews views are presented in order to contrast the views of James Madison, whom it seems the author ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This policy became known as the Edict of Milan and forever changed the future of religion, especially Christianity. Over 1600 years later, in January 1925, a historian named John R. Knipfing analyzes the atmosphere of religious tolerance during Constantine I s reign. Knipfing was an assistant professor of European History at Ohio State University when this essay was published in January, 1925. As Knipfing mentioned, this essay was written after World War I, which threw much of the world into chaos. Knipfing wrote this essay as a historian, analyzing the early part of Constantine s reign. Since this essay was published in a Catholic journal, there is the possibility the essay may be biased in the way it looks at religion. While historians strive to be as unbiased as possible, it is almost impossible to be able to look at everything objectively, leading to at least some bias. Additionally, since Knipfing s essay was written over 1600 years past the time it was talking about, the essay had to be based off of primary sources, such as the Edict of Milan. This leads to the possibility of double bias in this essay, as both Knipfing s and his sources writings may be biased. In this essay, Knipfing begins by discussing the constant swings back and forth between religious tolerance and intolerance. Knipfing acknowledges that there had been multiple periods of tolerance before Constantine, but none of them actually lasted for long. After discussing the Diocletian Persecution, which was occurred until the time of the Edict of Milan, Knipfing begins discussing the actual edict. Knipfing spends these pages discussing things other than the edict so readers will be able to understand how people had looked at religion up until the edict. By giving this background information, readers are better able to understand the significance of the edict. The image of the fallen woman reflects the Victorian upper classes ideas about sexuality, gender and class. The prostitute is a staple of 19th century fiction. Victorian ideas about fallenness create the ideological assumptions behind the creation of the Contagious Diseases Acts. To have redeemed her would have justified prostitution, or at least acknowledged the fact that it could be a temporary state, and not the road to ruin and a horrible and lonely death. Oliver s mother is also a fallen woman who meets a sacrificial death although her heart is apparently good. Her entire family is also consequently ruined. This reads as particularly tragic since she was not seduced by a rake, but by someone who intended to marry her. No matter; she also had to be sacrificed to fallenness, along with her entire family. It is a cautionary tale. There are two examples of fallenness in Mary Barton. One is Mary Barton herself, who is seduced by dreams of improving her social status via the upper class Carson. Her lust for wealth leaves her at the mercy of this rake, who has no intention of marrying her anyway. The true fallen woman is Mary s aunt Esther. How could this impact global marketing? * The cost of health care for elderly people is greater than educational costs for the young. Hence, population aging will eventually place severe strains on government budgets for health care and pension plans, and with fewer workers to pay the taxes. * Health may actually decline due to the lifestyle changes of the urban environment, with its greater stresses and sedentary lifestyles. At the same time, retirement means that income tax revenues required to fund these programs decline; the economy shrinks. * For employers: there will have more employers on ... Introduction Filter is a device used that removes unwanted noise in the signal. Classification of filter Filters are classified into different categories depending on their transfer function. Linear and nonlinear Time variant and time invariant Casual and non casual Analog and digital Passive a ndactive filter Infinite impulse response (IIR) or finite impulse response (FIR) filter. IIR(Infinite impulse response IIR filters are digital filters with infinite impulse response. They have the feedback (a recursive part of a filter) and are known as recursive digital filters. They are the time invariant systems. IIR filter has better frequency response than FIR filters. FIR(Finite impulse response) The transfer function of FIR filter approaches the ideal as the filter order increases, thus increasing the complexity and amount of time needed for processing input samples of a signal being filtered.

Smith Grand Canyon University JUS 515 Use of Force Use of Force One night, a small town patrol officer stops a car driven by two teenagers. The officer believes that one of them might be responsible for a string of recent burglaries. The teens are questioned, and the officer becomes angry at their responses. Over the objections of the teenagers, both teens are pulled out of the car and shoved around a little. They are both told that they are under arrest and the officer begins to place handcuffs on them. Both fight back and both are beaten badly (Bruno, 2010). The question is what legal recourse is available to the families of the teens if any? Let me first start by discussing the use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now that I have discussed the use of force and whether it is excessive or not I will begin to answer the original question posed. Does the family of the teens have any legal recourse available to them, and if so what is available to them? The answer to this is yes the families definitely have legal recourse available to them for a number of reasons. The first mistake the officers made was pulling over the teens because they thought they might have been involved in a recent string of burglaries. That right there is a violation of the teens Fourth Amendment to have probable cause to stop them in the first place. Police officers have to have probable cause or more than a hunch to pull someone over. The scenario said nothing about the car was pulled over because maybe a witness saw the car leaving the scene of the crime, or maybe the officer had a description of the suspect and they matched it, he just thought they might be involved. Secondly, they did question the teens and because of their responses the officer becomes angry and pulls the teens out of the car. The officer had no right to pull the teens out of the car because of what they said. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Lorie amp; Savage, 1955, p. 234) Turns out this is an Integer Programming optimization problem as it has identified constraints with the end output being to either accept an investment (using the integer 1), or decline (using the integer 0). Since the Lagrange Multipliers are real values, this is more specifically classified as a Mixed Integer Programming problem. (Trick, 1998) Their research proved to be revolutionary as this strayed from the traditional accepted method in using IRR, and this research has evolved since. One example of this is demonstrated where Seymour Kaplan introduced the concept of applying the Generalized Lagrange Multiplier (G.L.M.) method with Integer Programming, using the Lorie Savage problem as a basis for comparison, that found favorable results in the effectiveness of G.L.M. in producing optimal solutions using NPV to make investment decisions. (Kaplan, 1966, p. 1136) Building on this research was the introduction of using genetic algorithms (GA) to solve capital budgeting problems in allowing financial analysts to find optimal investment combinations for various situations, such as the multiple tax structures a company may encounter. (Berry amp; Manongga, 2006, p. 96) Expanding on the GA implementation was research conducted that incorporated fuzzy set theory on problems when investment parameters contained scant or vague information and therefore had great uncertainty. People who have not experience the south or even being around African American women do not know how they act or talk or even if they have different behaviors than us. That sounds ridiculous to some people who have been to the south and lived there growing up, but everything there probably think that we all still ride horses to work and school just as we think that they all go to church every day and eats grits for breakfast. In an article on the Huffington Post, Dr. Helen Ouyang argues that it was justified and that military intervention is needed. In paragraph two, Dr. Ouyang states, This is why to me, the issue in question is not necessarily whether chemical weapons were used, but what the intentions of Assad s regime is, what has happened thus far to the innocent, and what is likely to happen in the future. She acknowledges that there is no question that the Assad regime has used chemical weapons so that is not what the disagreement should be about. In the following paragraph, she speaks about all of the arguments against military involvement. She ends the paragraph by stating that despite the reasons not to be involved, she can t turn [her] back on the 110,000 who have died and the six million more who have fled their homes. By stating the opposing arguments, labeling them as sound, and refuting them by stating that her moral obligation is more critical, she is using a value based argument. Basically, she says that although we see that the military involvement may be similar to past failures, our moral decision is more serious. Later in the article, she even calls to the use of abstract values. She claims that we should not use military intervention because of the vast reasons many Americans think we should such as punishing Assad or to send a message. • 39. Cloud Computing And The Protection Of Intellectual Property Trust in Cloud Computing Cloud computing has a duty to protect data privacy and some countries are going to great measures to further ensure that their data is kept within their national borders (Trend Micro, 2013). It has been suggested that new ethics frameworks are necessary in order to instill trust in the industry based on known parameters that include the use of critical equipment, management of critical data, respect for privacy, security and longevity of information, And the protection of intellectual property. Worldwide, both the public and private sectors have grown in their distrust and discomfort in the ability of companies to handle user data properly. Trust must be restored by defining a clear line between legitimate security concerns and an individual s right to privacy. One way to ensure privacy is by separating the application that is being used (cloud service) from the data it stores and some providers are already employing this method. Privacy concerns recently increased after a private company, inBloom secured over 600 New York schools as a client for student data handling (Trend Micro, 2013). inBloom described its effort as a plan to integrate a technology that could aggregate and store student information for educational institutions and then release it to approved third parties that would then personalize tools and dashboards specifically for classroom educators and those students (Herold, 2014). • 41. The Origins Of The Origin Of Mathematics The Origins of Mathematics The Origins When and where is the origins of mathematics? The origins of mathematics accompanied the evolution of social systems in many ways. The social development of any society requires some sort of calculation and number system. In the same way, the arithmetic operations are essential for the development and interaction between people. Words that describe numbers and operations that enable calculations are the basis for survival. The need to count how many animals where available for hunting, and the number of people that needed to be feed are just examples of the needs faced by a pre historic man. All this require the need to develop words, sounds, or gestures that could be used to describe the numbers of objects and animals, also they had to develop a type of a counting system that could have allowed them to make the most basic mathematical operations, for example equal sharing of food. That can explain why the need of mathematics was so important just from the beginning of times, and how it has been the binding element that kept the early humans together and help them to coexist and develop into what we are today. Since the invention of a numbers and counting systems occurred when people started to live together and formed the first human society, mathematical scenes was the link that helped them to for societies and to develop a type of communication system and in a way help them to establish the first trading system which in turn, ...
