The Goal A Process Of Ongoing Improvements
The Goal a Process of Ongoing Improvements was Dr.Eliyahu M Goldratt first book. It is a fiction
business management novel that primarily focuses on the theory of constraints. The author Goldratt is
a critical acclaimed Israeli business manager, physicist professor, and author. He is thought of as the
guru of business operation. Goldratt is the creator of optimized production technique and the theory of
constraints. He also is the author of the following books: Production the TOC way, IT S Not LUCK,
Critical Chain, Necessary but not sufficient, ISNT It Obvious, The Choice, The Race, What is This
Thing Called: theory of constraints, and The Haystack Syndrome.
Eliyahu M Goldratt purpose of writing this book is to introduce individuals to how to manage and
measure effectively. Goldratt illustrates how the accounting cost figures and productivity per machine
can actually be problematic for it misleads individuals into thinking they re achieving the goal. Rather
all attention should be focused on strategy planning and managing the bottlenecks because they are the
true driving metric of production. One major takeaway message from this novel is that there is always
room for improvement. This philosophy of ongoing improvement originated in a Toyotas production
system and is better know as the Kaizen theory. The Novel, stresses the Kaizen theory, which starts
with an indication, then an in depth analysis, followed by a diagnosis, eventually arrive ate a
hypothesis and ending with

Elie And Dina Lindik Analysis
Even though Elie Wiesel and Dina Linik had many differences they still have some interesting
similarities . One of the few characteristics they shared was strong willed . They both were going
through really tough moments and still continued on no matter what reither it was for themselves or
not . They both also witnessed and encountered with other jews through a difficult tight transportation
method which was really difficult and uncomfortable to be in for countless of hours . Also , they both
were paid in ratios of bread by working hard and doing what others say . Lastly another similar
encounter that Elie and Dina experienced together was that they were both in a situation where the
area they were in was getting bombed . The many differences

The Nature Of Theatre In EuripidesBacchae
In Bacchae, Euripides explores the nature of theatre through Dionysus confrontation with his mortal
royal family, who has denied him a place of honor as a god. Euripides employs costume and choral
narration to portray Dionysus as a director of his own play and a patron of art, illuminating the
spiritually intoxicating and transformative nature of theatre.
The prologue introduces Dionysus, setting the scene of the drama while inviting the audience to
examine the nature of theatre through metatheatrical elements of the play. Dionysus introduces
himself to the audience and declares, I have changed from divine to human form, and here I am (5 6).
Through Dionysus disguise, Euripides alludes to the use of theatre costume. Furthermore, at the close
of the prologue, Dionysus directs the chorus on stage:
Now come, my sacred band of women,
That came with me from the bulwark of Lydia,
Mt. Tmolus, companions in my journey from abroad.
Take up the drums, the native drums of Phrygia, the ones I discovered, I and Mother Rhea.
(55 59)
In this moment of theatrical self consciousness, Dionysus transcends the narrative of the story. He is a
director of the play rather than the protagonist and not only guides his religious followers, but the
actors of the performance.
While theatre allows actors to assume the psyche of another character, Dionysus, similarly, provides
his worshipers the freedom to take upon a new persona and achieve spiritual ecstasy and revelation
through theatre.

Nostalgia Marketing
Nostalgia Marketing
The main purpose of this paper is to examine the existing literature and research that has been
developed regarding the use of nostalgia as a marketing strategy both in its use in advertisement as
well as in products that try to generate a nostalgic response in the customer. The main definitions and
causes of nostalgia will be examined and the applications that nostalgia can have to modern marketers.
The use of nostalgic motives has been increasing since the early nineties from the re introduction of
the mini cooper by BMW and the launch of the New beetle by Volkswagen, to the recent resurgence of
1980´s themes like Transformers and The A team, as well as the use of pop culture icons and old

(Schindler and Holbrook, 2003)
Holak and Havlena (1998) complement this definition by stating that nostalgia is not a preference for
these objects but that is a feeling or mood produced by the association of these objects with their past,
a relationship that other objects do not have and therefore they have a preference for the objects that
produce the nostalgic responses.
Research has been conducted to understand the motives of this nostalgic response to certain objects
and experiences, a study by Holak and Havlena (1992) tries to identify the most recurrent motives in
nostalgia, through the

Wild Birds In A Mocking Bird
D MIMICRY
Mimicry is the superficial resemblance between two or more organisms which are not taxonomically
related. This resemblance may be in appearance, behavior, sound, scent and even location. Some sort
of vocalization is produced by most of the birds. Almost every species of bird produces some sort of
vocalization. Mockingbirds are those birds that mimic the call of other birds. Australia s amazing
Lyrebird is the world s greatest mimic which is capable of mimic natural and artificial sounds from

speech? *A single species may change its mimicry depending on the context. When confronted with a
taxidermy owl placed on the ground, brown thorn bills mimic the alarm calls that other bird species
make in response to predators on the ground. *Although mimicry may have survival benefits in the
wild, in the safety and shelter of our homes, a pet bird learns to mimic our voice primarily because the
sound is interesting to him and it gets attention. Mimic birds *There are a variety of birds mimic

Mood Disorder Summary
It s very common for mood disorder to co exist with comorbid anxiety disorders such as obsessive
compulsive disorder. Some of the symptoms of depressive episodes discussed in lecture were
depressed mood, loss of interest, feeling of worthlessness or guilt, suicidal thoughts or action,
difficulty thinking or making decision, and fatigue or loss of energy. These are some of the symptoms
Mr. B mentioned having in the article. Some of the environmental factors contributing to mood
disorders is the uncontrollability of events, such as break up or job loss. Mr. B separated from his wife
10 years ago and has two kids whom he can t visit as much as he wants. In class, it was discussed that

client s situation better. Some of the stigma associated with MMD is that people don t consider it a
legitimate mental disorder, hence minimize the severity of the problem. Stigma surrounding anxiety
disorders include beliefs such as: they are not suitable employees, self centered, and a sign of personal
weakness. In class we watched a video where a young mother had OCD. Her obsessions were
worrying about contamination, and need for order, and her compulsions were washing her hands and
avoiding the cracks in the streets. Her OCD were so severe that it was affecting her lifestyle, which
resonates with Mr. B s situation. Some of the prevention of mood disorders and suicide is done by
RAO A, which teaches adolescents to manage stress, modify negative and irrational thoughts, solve
problem efficiently, develop and use social network, and enhancing social skills and recognizing other
perspectives. Treatments for anxiety disorders addressed in the book are biological treatment (subject
to side effects and addiction) and psychological treatment involving psychoeducation, somatic

“Evaluate the Strengths and Weaknesses of Reason as a...
Reasoning is the thinking that is coherent and logical. As the dictionary definition very clearly and
correctly states, reasoning is certain thinking or a conclusion drawn from a logical fact. Hence, the
reasoning of a certain thing, which is a conclusion drawn from an existing fact or the happening of an
event, is trusted more than the conclusion which is drawn due the development of one s emotions.
Consequently, when a person would say to another, You re being emotional , it is considered as a
cynical comment while the statement, You re being logical is taken as praise. Therefore, it is obvious
that logic and reasoning holds strengths which are stronger than those of emotions.
In today s world, the younger generation is burdened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, one very big limitation of reason is that it does not account for any emotions which are
involved in the scenario.
In addition, another weakness of reason is that is does not people open their minds to newer prospects
because the reason restricts their mind to think in only one way. For example, in the book Train to
Pakistan , by Khushwant Singh, the police just arrest Juggut Singh, thinking that he was involved in
the murder of Lala Ram Lal without any proof actual proof of what exactly happened, because Juggut
Singh was a known badmash and that may have been a grave enough reason for the police to arrest
him. This incident in the book shows that without knowing the culprit, the wrong person was arrested
just because the person arrested had no other reputation except that of a scoundrel. Hence, this
example shows that when there is a reason behind something, which in this case was Juggut Singh s
poor reputation, it makes the other people, who are involved in the scene, less open minded.
Furthermore, reasoning is only possible when the correct data and required knowledge are present.
This is because reasoning is only based on the data which is provided, and cannot be based on data
that has not been taken into account. For example, if an event occurs periodically, and one observes
just one of the occurring and bases his/her reason on that, then it

Bizarre Fruit
Bizarre Fruit
In the mid 1930 s, the south would perform, what they believed to be acts of justice by hanging, or
lynching, black men who were convicted of doing a crime. The Poem Strange Fruit is an interesting
poem depicts a very horrid image of pure racism in the south and how lynchings were such a
gruesome image, and was meant to be a protest against the inhumanity of racism (Blair) . The poem
Strange Fruit was published in 1937 by Abel Meeropol after he viewed an image of a lynching that
occurred in the south. Meeropol was haunted by the image and was inspired to write and publish the
poem (Meeropol). Abel Meeropol was already against racism in America and when he saw the
appalling image of two African American people being lynched ... Show more content on

The elements of imagery are seen in the poem when Abel writes The bulgin eyes and the twisted
mouth (6). The sentence describes a very horrid image of how the African Americans looks as they
were being hanged against their will. This depicts imagery because it gives a very detailed image in
the reader s mind of how they looked like as they were hanged. Personification is present in the poem
Strange Fruit when Meeropol writes For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck (10). This is
personification because it gives the rain the trait of gathering things, and it also gives the wind the trait
of sucking. Within the poem, Meeropol also includes juxtaposition, for example when he says Scent of
magnolias sweet and fresh/ Then the sudden smell of burnin flesh (7 8). This is an example of
juxtaposition because it brings out the difference between the sweet smell of a flower, and the bad
dark smell of burning flesh, and it makes the difference between those things more apparent.
Throughout the poem Strange Fruit Meeropol also uses metaphors, such as when he puts Southern
trees bear a strange fruit (1) in his poem. The entire poem itself is a metaphor because the poem
compares African Americans that have been lynched, and the strange fruit that hangs from trees. The
poem is comparing the strange fruit to it actually being the African Americans that were

Examples Of Tension In Lamb To The Slaughter
Lamb to the Slaughter, by Roald Dahl, is a classic tale of suspense, tension and dramatic irony. In the
novel, on page 2, it says, This is going to be a big shock to you, I m afraid, he said. But I ve thought
about it a good deal, and I ve decided that the only thing to do is to tell you immediately. And he told
her. It didn t take long, four or five minutes at most, and she sat still through it all, watching him with
puzzled horror. This quote is a good example of how the novel builds suspense and tension because
the readers do not know what the character, Patrick, told his wife, Mary. Before this scene, Patrick was
acting different, like something was wrong. The news he gives his wife upsets her so much that she
murders him with a leg of lamb. The author leaving us barely any knowledge of why Mary killed
Patrick adds a lot of suspense and tension for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These differences either added or took away from the story. One way that they are different is that the
dialogue was different. A big and important line from the story is when one police officer says that the
murder weapon is probably right under their noses. This adds a lot of suspense and is a form of
dramatic irony because they were eating the lamb which actually was the weapon. In the film, the
policeman didn t include this line in his dialogue which took away from the movie, but added to the
story. Another way the film and the novel are different is that Mary went through flashbacks in the
movie but not the story. This again took away from the movie because the director made the film out
of chronological order. In this case the reader does not get to to see Mary s expressions or how she
feels which makes the movie less suspenseful and less tense. The director might have made these
changes because the reader already knew what was going to happen, so they change the film around
so it still shows suspense and

Justice And Justice In Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice
In Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, there is a conflict between two understandings of justice
justice as the letter of the law and justice as mercy. Because this play is typically classified as a
comedy, it is natural to view the trial s ruling against Shylock as just, since this best fits in with the
genre of Comedy. My aim is to show that this interpretation is not without its problems, and is in fact
called into question by the text. I will accomplish this analyzing the legal aspects of the court s ruling
and the tribal behavior of the Venetian Christians, as well as taking a close look at the supposed mercy
shown by Antonio to Shylock. After dissecting these ideas, I will relate them to several modern
questions of justice and their accompanying tradeoffs.
Without further ado, et us meet our plaintiff turned defendant, Shylock. While his motives are
questionable (to say the least), Shylock does remain logical in his own defense, at one point saying:
Till thou canst rail the seal from off my bond,
Thou but offend st thy lungs to speak so loud.
Repair thy wit, good youth, or it will fall
To cureless ruin. I stand here for law.
(4.1.141 4) Here, Shylock stands firm in his argument, essentially asserting that his right to contract is
unassailable, regardless of the emotional attacks his Christian opponents throw at him. This is quite
representative of the trial as a whole: Shylock remains dispassionate and uses sound argument, while
his adversaries are emotional and

Walnut Venture Associates are a group of angel investors. In 1997 the club had around a dozen
individual investors, forming an angel group . Their primary targets are investments ranging from
$250,000 to $1,000,000. This is due to the gap of capital funds initiated by the VC s from not
considering investments bellow $1 million. Also, angel investors can acquire significant equity at low
cost, and help the growth of the company with their knowledge and expertise. By selecting only the
most exceptional people and ideas, investments in startups can lead to massive returns on relatively
small investments. As unexperienced entrepreneurs, they are a key resource to have in order to achieve

They should also see if Softrax offers a software solution which is truly different, and better than the

definitely looks in good financial shape, and if further research does not contradict the given
information, they should be a promising venture to invest in. Perhaps Walnut will negotiate the terms
of the investment to reduce the amount to $1 million. RBS would then either have to seek for different
investors, or reduce their expansion plans accordingly. Planning the investment in order to exit after
three years (2000) should be relatively safe and profitable. As Bob O Connor, he should be careful
when accepting investments from angel investors as they become business partners with them. They
should therefore make sure they have similar views for future growth and goals of the company. Since
Walnut specializes in software companies, Bob O Connor should not worry whether the angels have
the sufficient knowledge of the industry. The knowledge, money, and insights the group of investors
brings would help accelerate the growth of RBS. While researching the topic, an article from June
27th, 2000 said that Softrax just received an additional $10 million in funding. A combination of
separate investors including Walnut Ventures partook in that deal. We can conclude that Walnut did go

General External Environment Analysis Essay
THE GENERAL EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT
Laka Muralidharan
General external environment is composed of dimensions in the broader society that influence an
industry and the firms within it. These dimensions can be can be grouped into the following six
environmental segments: demographic, economic, political/legal, sociocultural, technological and
global segments.
1) Demographic segment
China and India account for 1/3rd of the population and experts believe that they will remain the top
two populous countries at least until 2050. China and India would contribute 65 million and 142
million new workers respectively to the global workforce by the year 2020. Both countries offer large,

However, since the recovery is just a few months old, there is still a lot of skepticism about whether it
is for real and whether it has some legs to run further. I think the worst is behind us, but the future is
still uncertain. I believe that it would take quite a while, at least a couple of years to get back to the
economic levels (unemployment rate and housing market) of 2006.
3) Political/Legal segment
This segment is an area where organizations compete for attention, resources and a voice in
overseeing the body of laws and regulations guiding the interactions among nations. As the politics of
regulations change, this segment influences the nature of competition through changing rules. An
example is the global trend toward privatization of government owned or regulated firms. Firms must
carefully analyze new political administration s business related policies and philosophies. Often,
firms develop a political strategy to influence government policies and actions that might affect them.
In the global scenario, more countries continue to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) as they
seem to believe that free trade across nations serves the best interest of individual countries and their
citizens. Down the line, many years from now, we would see a scenario where all countries in the
globe become members of organizations like WTO and there is a fair trade across all countries

Research I Treatment for Adult Male Sex Offenders October 27, 2014 Dr. Chacha Abstract
Introduction The reason for this study is to explain the different types of treatment for adult male sex
offenders. The reason for conducting this research is the interest in getting these offenders effective
treatment. Literature Review History of Sex Offender Treatment Until the mid 1980s the treatment of
sex offenders was conducted primarily in civil commitment programs in a few state hospitals, prisons,
and outpatient clinics scattered around the country. Sex offenders were often treated using a variety of
psychodynamic and client centered techniques. A major shift in the field came in 1983 with the
publication of an article that presented for the first time a relapse prevention model designed for
sexual offenders (Pithers, Marques, Gibat, Marlatt, 1983). Pithers and Marques adapted the work
pioneered by Marlatt for alcoholics. Relapse prevention is essentially a self control model that teaches
the individual to identify and recognize a unique pattern of thoughts, feelings, and situations that
precede and lead to relapses. Relapse in the case of sex offenders is a re offense. This pattern has a
signature quality to it. It is tailored to the cognitive, affective, and situation markers that are unique for
each individual. Once the pattern is fully understood, the individual learns

couldn t show our own animals. Abby, Mikayla, and I walked around the barns to find animals to
show. We went to beef first. Hey Brooke, can we show three of your cows for round robin? we asked
in unison.
Of course. They re all pretty tame.
Thanks! We practice for about 30 minutes and then moved to our next animals. We didn t have to
practice with sheep and swine because we already know how to show them, so we went to rabbits,
Hey Winston, can we show your rabbits for round robin?
Yeah, you can have the 3 on the end. He said.
Thanks, we ll come by later to practice. After we got our animals and practiced, we got ready for the
show.

Behavior Modification Plan Essay
Since the 1970 s the concept of special or exceptional education has improved exponentially. New
rules and laws have been created to offer the same opportunities to students with special needs as
students in general education classrooms. With the advancement of technology and more specific
training for special education teachers, a student and his/her family can now look forward to a more
equal opportune education and positive behavior modifications. Methods in which the school system
implements behavior based interventions and reward systems can determine the success of the
students system wide. Therefore, a dependable, transportable, and systemic program must be applied
(Sugai, 2014).
Beginning a system wide, dependable, and transportable behavior modification program starts with
carefully constructed expectations, implementation and evaluation. Students will learn system
expectations from the first day of class. A basic outline created from research based practices will be

Consequently, teachers and administrative staff loose too much instruction time each day following
through with office referrals and behavior modifications. For the first offense, a warning for negative
behavior is issued, as well as a discussion of expectations, why the behavior was wrong and what the
student can do to correct the actions. The second behavior offense will involve the return of an earned
token as well as a note in the agenda to the parent partners explaining the behavior and what the
family can do to encourage the appropriate behaviors. The student will also write an apology letter to
the victim of the bad behaviors as a method of owning up to the mistake and accepting

Comparing The Works Of Paul Laurence Dunbar And Maya...
In the words of Former Attorney General of the United States, Loretta Lynch, This country was
founded on a promise of equal rights for all, and we have always managed to move closer to that
promise, little by little, one day at a time. It may not be easy but we ll get there together. Rosa Parks
fought for herself and other people of color to gain equal rights, which not only impacted her
generation, but also future societies. Throughout Rosa s journey, she mirrors the image of the caged
bird written in Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou s poems, due to the events that changed her
and released her from her cage. Even though the path for equal rights was not always easy, Rosa Parks
and the oppressed men and women led the revolution that broke them free from segregation laws.

Segregation laws impacted the everyday lives of people of color, from stores, to transportation. As
stated in Rosa Parks My Story, Then he spoke a second time: y all better make it light on yourselves
and let me have those seats (3). Buses were one of the more controversial issues during this period, so
people of color were often told to move for white males. African Americans, similar to the birds in
Dunbar and Angelous poems felt trapped. Rosa and many others feared being tormented, so most
complied with the segregation laws that were in place. Also mentioned in My Story, written by Rosa
Parks, ...my grandfather would have his gun right by the fireplace, or if he had his one horse wagon
going anywhere, he always had his gun in the back of the wagon (5). People of color had to always be

Engineering Assignment Of The Hyatt Regency Hotel Project
Ethics in Engineering Assignment ENGR 100/CSCI 100 Fall 2017 Assignment #6 Name Student ID
Class Time Date Submitted Introduction Hyatt Regency Hotel project was designed and built by the
Crown Center Redevelopment Corporation(CCRC). CCRC selected Gillum Colaco International Inc.
as the consulting structural engineer, PBNDLM Architects, Planners Incorporated as the architects and
Eldridge Construction Company as the general contractor (Brunet, 2007). Some of the companies
chosen to carry out the different responsibilities in the project subcontracted the work as they saw fit.
The project was divided into three aspects: design team, construction team, and a safety inspection
team (Two Rods Don t Make It Right, 2008). The hotel design consisted of a 40 story tower section, a
function block, and a connecting atrium with three hanging walkways (Brunet, 2007). Gillum Colaco
International Inc. made structural drawings and the initial sketches for the walkways showing some of
the design criteria to be used for fabrication, but the latter was not provided to the fabricator (Havens
Steel Company) (Brunet, 2007). Once the fabricator had received the information which was
incomplete, the design of the box beam hanger rod connection was redesigned. Havens model was
based solely on the AISC manual and did not take into consideration load bearing calculations and
other specification that would have been given by the structural engineer. The Haven Steel Company

Verification Of Motion Lab
Verification of Newton s 2nd Law of Motion
Introduction The objective of this lab was to test Newton s 2nd law of motion, which states that the
acceleration of an object is proportional to the sum of forces acting on it and inversely proportional to
its mass. This was done by connecting a cart to a hook with a string and using a smart pulley to
measure the acceleration of varying masses on the hook as it falls down. System mass remains
constant. A free body diagram and applying Newton s 2nd Law yields the following relationship:
Where mass 1 is the mass of the cart and the weights it contains, while mass 2 is the hook and the
weights it holds. Thus the goal is to record data that follows this equation; as more masses are added
to the hook, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A smart pulley is clamped onto the side of the table and connected to a computer to sync with
Capstone. In Capstone, select the device as Photogate with Pulley. Set up a position vs time graph to
record data for. Attach a string to the cart, over the smart pulley, and latch it onto a 5g hook to the side
of the table. Obtain four weights: two 20g, one 50g, and one 100g. While keeping the cart in place,
keep one 20g weight on the hook and the remainder in the cart. Start recording data from the smart
pulley and release the cart so that it will slowly slide towards the edge of the table. Grab the cart
before it hits the pulley and stop recording data. Reset the cart s position to 50 cm away from the edge.
Repeat this process for the following masses on the hook: 40g (two 20g weights), 70g (one 20g weight
and a 50g weight), 100g (just the 100g weight), and 170g (one 20g, 50g, and 100g). Keep the
remainder weights on the cart. Be careful with the cart at higher masses on the hook, as it will move
quickly. Once the trials are completed, create quadratic fits for the recorded data on Capstone. Make
sure to remove unwanted data, such as the initial motionless state of the cart and the adrupt halt of its
motion. The acceleration of the system is two times the value of the A constant in the curve fit; record
this and do this for all trials.

After 5 trials, the data was shown to be positively

How Far Do You Agree That Curley’s Wife Is a Victim and...
The novel Of Mice and Men was written by John Steinbeck in 1936. It is set in the society of the 1920
s. The author sets up our perception of the character Curley s wife in a way that allows us to develop
our understanding of her, and enables us to later decide how far we agree that she is an innocent and
vulnerable victim, or a manipulator who deserves her fate. We are first introduced to the character
Curley s wife in chapter two by Candy. We immediately see her being blamed for causing her husband
s arrogance Curley is cockier n ever since he got married . An image of her as someone who should be
blamed is therefore set up this early in the novel. Soon after this we get an impression of her
appearance. Candy describes her as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reveals that their understanding is so limited that they find the exploitation and risk involved in
prostitution funny. They like the way Suzy is so relaxed about sex if a guy don t want a flop, why he
can just set in the chairs . She talks about it like any other commodity and accepts that it is a woman s
purpose. Suzy undermines the rival brothel Clara s House , by suggesting that even though it may be
more fashionable, the girls have STI s if any you guys want look at a kewpie doll lamp and take your
own chance getting burned, why you know where to go . This shows that women like Suzy are forced
to be competitive and to make themselves a business as they have no other way. George accepts this
and prefers a good whore house to having a relationship. The price is his only focus and concern as he
says I ain t puttin out no two and a half . This is an outrageous approach to women and sex which
should not be accepted by the modern reader. But as previously stated, we trust George, and don t feel
much sympathy for Curley s wife, being a woman in this society, until we understand the victimisation
of women in a society where they are forced into a male stereotype. A stage in the novel where my
sympathy towards Curley s wife fluctuates a great deal, is when she enters Crooks room on Saturday
night. First we get another sexual description of her to further emphasise that she is a tart. She makes
an excuse for entering any you boys

Dbq Compromise Of 1860 Essay
During the 1820s to 1860s, Americans dealt with many political disputes throughout the country. The
early nineteenth century was a period of growth and development until citizens discovered that
threatening issues would soon affect them significantly. The founding fathers established a
compromise that would attempt to unite the nation. However, slavery was an ongoing issue that
eventually led to Compromise in the middle nineteenth century. Agreements were extremely hard to
attain due to the political intolerance and problems regarding slavery. Ethical and social viewpoints of
slavery caused the split of the North and South. Compromise eventually collapsed causing America to
suffer. In spite of the fact that repercussions of the Era of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reform movements began in order to gain rights such as the abolitionist movement. Abolitionism is
the act of ending slavery. William Lloyd Garrison s newspaper, The Liberator called for instant
emancipation of slaves. Other influential figures, like Fredrick Douglas was part of the abolitionist
movement as well. After Harriet Beecher Stowe s, Uncle Toms Cabin was published, the abolition
movement in the North infuriated many. Similarly, the South began individual efforts that opposed
abolition. The Herald M Georgia strongly disapproved people in the North, by declaring that
Northerners were a devoid of society fitted for well bred southern gentleman. (Doc F). Complications
in compromise had risen due to the moral and social division of slavery. Daniel Webster identified the
intensity of an issue by saying it was a moral impossibility to possess peaceful secession. (Doc D). In
1858, Lincoln addressed a serious matter that resulted in a disruption of other political parties. (Doc
G). Unfortunately, there was a fall out in compromise as a result of the conflicts concerning

Case Analysis Aqualisa Quartz
Introduction:
Every company dreams that one day they can bring something unique and very competitive, and use it
to dominate the market. But things might not be as easy as they thought. In Aqualisa case, Harry
Rawlinson, managing director of Aqualisa, gives us an example that even with new significant shower
product Quartz, which seems to be perfect in every aspect, they cannot make a relative progress in
U.K. shower market. Quartz is designed to solve all the troubles that exist in U.K. showers. It provides
efficient and reliable water pressure and temperature, needs less space in bathroom, has a stylish
looking and is easy to use and install. Although Quartz leaps all other showers, the initial sales results
turned to be gloomy, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And we notice that Aquavalve Value, which is in value segment, and Aquaforce 1.0/1.5 Bar, which is
in Standard segment, have higher Rate of return, but these product sold well in lower segments. Thus
Quartz cannot be blamed for overprice, at least it was no more expensive than Aqualisa s other
product. Besides, if we consider the installation cost that saved by Quartz (2 days to half day, with 40
80/hour), Quartz is even cheaper. So either the price was not the reason, or the price was
misunderstood. Consumer could be blinded by Quartz s high retail price and ignore its relatively high
produce cost. Besides, Aqualisa was generally recognized as having top quality showers, a premium
brand, and great service , that reputation could make consumers form the idea that Quartz is just
another premium product which is not

Aeneas Research Paper
Roman myth and mythology were merely the continuation of Greek myths and legends, with some
Roman changes to suit the needs of the times. Through ancient writers such as Livy and Dionysius of
Halicarnassus, we have uncovered the intertwined nature of Greek myths and mythology had upon the
Roman mythology story.
Aeneas as described in the Iliad was the son of Aphrodite and Anchises a cousin of the king Priam of
Troy. Aeneas was said to have the gods watch over him as he is fated not to die. During the fighting in
Troy Aeneas is wounded by Diomedes. This triggers Aphrodite to rush in to save her son, but she is
wounded and Aeneas is subsequently saved by Apollo. Likewise in Greek hero myths the hero set out
on a journey, in this case Aeneas is fated by the gods the survive and found a city, it was said that
Poseidon foresaw, Aeneas decedents ruling the Mediterranean, with Aeneas farseeing the greatness
that Rome will achieve . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Troublesome gods, journey into the underworld and founding of a city. Also a common aspect of
Aeneas and other Greek mythical heroes is the fact that one of the heroes parents is a god and the
other is a mortal in this case Aeneas s mother is Aphrodite and his father a mortal. This is a common
occurrence as many Greek heroes have a god as a parent one such well know example is Hercules
whose father was Zeus the king of the gods. Roman mythology was intertwined with Greek myths,
with many of the Roman gods influenced and accepted as Roman gods, with only their names
changed, Zeus to Jupiter Ares to Mars are two such examples. However the Roman did have some non
Greek gods. The Lares and the Penates have no such equivalent Greek god. Lares were sprits that
protected fields and hearth as well as protectors of the household. The Penates protected the
storehouse, a Laraium is where the family would make offerings to the Lares for protection of the

The Confocal Microscopy And Microscopy
Abstract:
First; a brief introduction about the confocal microscopy, critical aspects of confocal Microscopy, and
the basic parts of the confocal microscope. It will follow by more information about fluorescence
microscopy which is used for study fixed and living cells because of its versatility, specificity, and
high sensitivity.
Introduction:
The Confocal Microscope is a type of microscope that is being developed for obtaining high
resolution images and 3D reconstruction. The images from the confocal are far better then other
microscopes; however, not quite as good as fluorescent microscopes. The confocal shows the most
fine details as possible in 3D; the confocal microscopy offers several advantages over conventional
wide field optical microscopy, including the ability to control depth of field, elimination or reduction
of background information away from the focal plane (that leads to image degradation), and the
capacity to collect serial optical sections from thick specimens [1]. The most significant value about
the confocal microscope is the spatial filtering techniques that terminate the glare and focus the
substance into the view. As it has been stated, there has been a tremendous explosion in the popularity
of confocal microscopy in recent years, due in part to the relative the ease with which extremely high
quality images can be obtained from specimens prepared for conventional fluorescence microscopy,
and the growing number of applications in cell biology that

Isaac Newton s Accomplishments
Isaac Newton was a physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, and a
theologian in the seventeenth century. He was born on Christmas day, 1642, in Woolsthorpe, England.
He did poorly in school as a kid, and even dropped out for a while. But when he was nineteen, he
decided to go back to school, and attended Trinity College until graduating four years later. Five years
after that, England was at war and there was a terrible plague spreading. Newton was once again
attending school at the time, but his school temporarily shut down due to the plague. This gave him
lots of free time and during the eighteen months that his school was shut down, Isaac Newton made a
handful of incredible discoveries.

  • 4. The Nature Of Theatre In EuripidesBacchae In Bacchae, Euripides explores the nature of theatre through Dionysus confrontation with his mortal royal family, who has denied him a place of honor as a god. Euripides employs costume and choral narration to portray Dionysus as a director of his own play and a patron of art, illuminating the spiritually intoxicating and transformative nature of theatre. The prologue introduces Dionysus, setting the scene of the drama while inviting the audience to examine the nature of theatre through metatheatrical elements of the play. Dionysus introduces himself to the audience and declares, I have changed from divine to human form, and here I am (5 6). Through Dionysus disguise, Euripides alludes to the use of theatre costume. Furthermore, at the close of the prologue, Dionysus directs the chorus on stage: Now come, my sacred band of women, That came with me from the bulwark of Lydia, Mt. Tmolus, companions in my journey from abroad. Take up the drums, the native drums of Phrygia, the ones I discovered, I and Mother Rhea. (55 59) In this moment of theatrical self consciousness, Dionysus transcends the narrative of the story. He is a director of the play rather than the protagonist and not only guides his religious followers, but the actors of the performance. While theatre allows actors to assume the psyche of another character, Dionysus, similarly, provides his worshipers the freedom to take upon a new persona and achieve spiritual ecstasy and revelation through theatre. ... Nostalgia Marketing Nostalgia Marketing The main purpose of this paper is to examine the existing literature and research that has been developed regarding the use of nostalgia as a marketing strategy both in its use in advertisement as well as in products that try to generate a nostalgic response in the customer. The use of nostalgic motives has been increasing since the early nineties from the re introduction of the mini cooper by BMW and the launch of the New beetle by Volkswagen, to the recent resurgence of 1980´s themes like Transformers and The A team, as well as the use of pop culture icons and old music in ... • 8. ‚ÄúEvaluate the Strengths and Weaknesses of Reason as a... Reasoning is the thinking that is coherent and logical. As the dictionary definition very clearly and correctly states, reasoning is certain thinking or a conclusion drawn from a logical fact. Hence, the reasoning of a certain thing, which is a conclusion drawn from an existing fact or the happening of an event, is trusted more than the conclusion which is drawn due the development of one s emotions. Consequently, when a person would say to another, You re being emotional , it is considered as a cynical comment while the statement, You re being logical is taken as praise. Therefore, it is obvious that logic and reasoning holds strengths which are stronger than those of emotions. In today s world, the younger generation is burdened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, one very big limitation of reason is that it does not account for any emotions which are involved in the scenario. In addition, another weakness of reason is that is does not people open their minds to newer prospects because the reason restricts their mind to think in only one way. For example, in the book Train to Pakistan , by Khushwant Singh, the police just arrest Juggut Singh, thinking that he was involved in the murder of Lala Ram Lal without any proof actual proof of what exactly happened, because Juggut Singh was a known badmash and that may have been a grave enough reason for the police to arrest him. This incident in the book shows that without knowing the culprit, the wrong person was arrested just because the person arrested had no other reputation except that of a scoundrel. Hence, this example shows that when there is a reason behind something, which in this case was Juggut Singh s poor reputation, it makes the other people, who are involved in the scene, less open minded. Furthermore, reasoning is only possible when the correct data and required knowledge are present. This is because reasoning is only based on the data which is provided, and cannot be based on data that has not been taken into account. For example, if an event occurs periodically, and one observes just one of the occurring and bases his/her reason on that, then it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Poem Strange Fruit is an interesting poem depicts a very horrid image of pure racism in the south and how lynchings were such a gruesome image, and was meant to be a protest against the inhumanity of racism (Blair) . The poem Strange Fruit was published in 1937 by Abel Meeropol after he viewed an image of a lynching that occurred in the south. The elements of imagery are seen in the poem when Abel writes The bulgin eyes and the twisted mouth (6). The sentence describes a very horrid image of how the African Americans looks as they were being hanged against their will. This depicts imagery because it gives a very detailed image in the reader s mind of how they looked like as they were hanged. Personification is present in the poem Strange Fruit when Meeropol writes For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck (10). This is personification because it gives the rain the trait of gathering things, and it also gives the wind the trait of sucking. Within the poem, Meeropol also includes juxtaposition, for example when he says Scent of magnolias sweet and fresh/ Then the sudden smell of burnin flesh (7 8). This is an example of juxtaposition because it brings out the difference between the sweet smell of a flower, and the bad dark smell of burning flesh, and it makes the difference between those things more apparent. Throughout the poem Strange Fruit Meeropol also uses metaphors, such as when he puts Southern trees bear a strange fruit (1) in his poem. The entire poem itself is a metaphor because the poem compares African Americans that have been lynched, and the strange fruit that hangs from trees. But I ve thought about it a good deal, and I ve decided that the only thing to do is to tell you immediately. And he told her. It didn t take long, four or five minutes at most, and she sat still through it all, watching him with puzzled horror. This quote is a good example of how the novel builds suspense and tension because the readers do not know what the character, Patrick, told his wife, Mary. These differences either added or took away from the story. One way that they are different is that the dialogue was different. A big and important line from the story is when one police officer says that the murder weapon is probably right under their noses. In the film, the policeman didn t include this line in his dialogue which took away from the movie, but added to the story. Another way the film and the novel are different is that Mary went through flashbacks in the movie but not the story. This again took away from the movie because the director made the film out of chronological order. In this case the reader does not get to to see Mary s expressions or how she feels which makes the movie less suspenseful and less tense. Justice And Justice In Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice In Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, there is a conflict between two understandings of justice justice as the letter of the law and justice as mercy. Because this play is typically classified as a comedy, it is natural to view the trial s ruling against Shylock as just, since this best fits in with the genre of Comedy. My aim is to show that this interpretation is not without its problems, and is in fact called into question by the text. I will accomplish this analyzing the legal aspects of the court s ruling and the tribal behavior of the Venetian Christians, as well as taking a close look at the supposed mercy shown by Antonio to Shylock. After dissecting these ideas, I will relate them to several modern questions of justice and their accompanying tradeoffs. Without further ado, et us meet our plaintiff turned defendant, Shylock. While his motives are questionable (to say the least), Shylock does remain logical in his own defense, at one point saying: Till thou canst rail the seal from off my bond, Thou but offend st thy lungs to speak so loud. Repair thy wit, good youth, or it will fall To cureless ruin. I stand here for law. (4.1.141 4) Here, Shylock stands firm in his argument, essentially asserting that his right to contract is unassailable, regardless of the emotional attacks his Christian opponents throw at him. This is quite representative of the trial as a whole: Shylock remains dispassionate and uses sound argument, while his adversaries are emotional and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason for conducting this research is the interest in getting these offenders effective treatment. Literature Review History of Sex Offender Treatment Until the mid 1980s the treatment of sex offenders was conducted primarily in civil commitment programs in a few state hospitals, prisons, and outpatient clinics scattered around the country. Sex offenders were often treated using a variety of psychodynamic and client centered techniques. A major shift in the field came in 1983 with the publication of an article that presented for the first time a relapse prevention model designed for sexual offenders (Pithers, Marques, Gibat, Marlatt, 1983). Pithers and Marques adapted the work pioneered by Marlatt for alcoholics. Relapse prevention is essentially a self control model that teaches the individual to identify and recognize a unique pattern of thoughts, feelings, and situations that precede and lead to relapses. Hey Brooke, can we show three of your cows for round robin? we asked in unison. Of course. They re all pretty tame. Thanks! We practice for about 30 minutes and then moved to our next animals. We didn t have to practice with sheep and swine because we already know how to show them, so we went to rabbits, Hey Winston, can we show your rabbits for round robin? Yeah, you can have the 3 on the end. He said. Thanks, we ll come by later to practice. After we got our animals and practiced, we got ready for the show. Beef was up first and I was terrified. • 23. Behavior Modification Plan Essay Since the 1970 s the concept of special or exceptional education has improved exponentially. New rules and laws have been created to offer the same opportunities to students with special needs as students in general education classrooms. With the advancement of technology and more specific training for special education teachers, a student and his/her family can now look forward to a more equal opportune education and positive behavior modifications. Methods in which the school system implements behavior based interventions and reward systems can determine the success of the students system wide. Therefore, a dependable, transportable, and systemic program must be applied (Sugai, 2014). Beginning a system wide, dependable, and transportable behavior modification program starts with carefully constructed expectations, implementation and evaluation. • 24. Comparing The Works Of Paul Laurence Dunbar And Maya... In the words of Former Attorney General of the United States, Loretta Lynch, This country was founded on a promise of equal rights for all, and we have always managed to move closer to that promise, little by little, one day at a time. It may not be easy but we ll get there together. Rosa Parks fought for herself and other people of color to gain equal rights, which not only impacted her generation, but also future societies. Throughout Rosa s journey, she mirrors the image of the caged bird written in Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou s poems, due to the events that changed her and released her from her cage. Even though the path for equal rights was not always easy, Rosa Parks and the oppressed men and women led the revolution that broke them free from segregation laws. • 25. Engineering Assignment Of The Hyatt Regency Hotel Project Ethics in Engineering Assignment ENGR 100/CSCI 100 Fall 2017 Assignment #6 Name Student ID Class Time Date Submitted Introduction Hyatt Regency Hotel project was designed and built by the Crown Center Redevelopment Corporation(CCRC). CCRC selected Gillum Colaco International Inc. as the consulting structural engineer, PBNDLM Architects, Planners Incorporated as the architects and Eldridge Construction Company as the general contractor (Brunet, 2007). Some of the companies chosen to carry out the different responsibilities in the project subcontracted the work as they saw fit. The project was divided into three aspects: design team, construction team, and a safety inspection team (Two Rods Don t Make It Right, 2008). The hotel design consisted of a 40 story tower section, a function block, and a connecting atrium with three hanging walkways (Brunet, 2007). Gillum Colaco International Inc. made structural drawings and the initial sketches for the walkways showing some of the design criteria to be used for fabrication, but the latter was not provided to the fabricator (Havens Steel Company) (Brunet, 2007). Once the fabricator had received the information which was incomplete, the design of the box beam hanger rod connection was redesigned. Havens model was based solely on the AISC manual and did not take into consideration load bearing calculations and other specification that would have been given by the structural engineer. • 26. Verification Of Motion Lab Verification of Newton s 2nd Law of Motion Introduction The objective of this lab was to test Newton s 2nd law of motion, which states that the acceleration of an object is proportional to the sum of forces acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass. This was done by connecting a cart to a hook with a string and using a smart pulley to measure the acceleration of varying masses on the hook as it falls down. System mass remains constant. A free body diagram and applying Newton s 2nd Law yields the following relationship: Where mass 1 is the mass of the cart and the weights it contains, while mass 2 is the hook and the weights it holds. Thus the goal is to record data that follows this equation; as more masses are added to the hook, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A smart pulley is clamped onto the side of the table and connected to a computer to sync with Capstone. In Capstone, select the device as Photogate with Pulley. Set up a position vs time graph to record data for. Attach a string to the cart, over the smart pulley, and latch it onto a 5g hook to the side of the table. Obtain four weights: two 20g, one 50g, and one 100g. While keeping the cart in place, keep one 20g weight on the hook and the remainder in the cart. Start recording data from the smart pulley and release the cart so that it will slowly slide towards the edge of the table. Grab the cart before it hits the pulley and stop recording data. Reset the cart s position to 50 cm away from the edge. Repeat this process for the following masses on the hook: 40g (two 20g weights), 70g (one 20g weight and a 50g weight), 100g (just the 100g weight), and 170g (one 20g, 50g, and 100g). Keep the remainder weights on the cart. Be careful with the cart at higher masses on the hook, as it will move quickly. Once the trials are completed, create quadratic fits for the recorded data on Capstone. Make sure to remove unwanted data, such as the initial motionless state of the cart and the adrupt halt of its motion. The acceleration of the system is two times the value of the A constant in the curve fit; record this and do this for all trials. Results After 5 trials, the data was shown to be positively ... Aeneas as described in the Iliad was the son of Aphrodite and Anchises a cousin of the king Priam of Troy. Aeneas was said to have the gods watch over him as he is fated not to die. During the fighting in Troy Aeneas is wounded by Diomedes. This triggers Aphrodite to rush in to save her son, but she is wounded and Aeneas is subsequently saved by Apollo. • 31. The Confocal Microscopy And Microscopy Abstract: First; a brief introduction about the confocal microscopy, critical aspects of confocal Microscopy, and the basic parts of the confocal microscope. It will follow by more information about fluorescence microscopy which is used for study fixed and living cells because of its versatility, specificity, and high sensitivity. Introduction: The Confocal Microscope is a type of microscope that is being developed for obtaining high resolution images and 3D reconstruction. The images from the confocal are far better then other microscopes; however, not quite as good as fluorescent microscopes. The confocal shows the most fine details as possible in 3D; the confocal microscopy offers several advantages over conventional wide field optical microscopy, including the ability to control depth of field, elimination or reduction of background information away from the focal plane (that leads to image degradation), and the capacity to collect serial optical sections from thick specimens [1]. The most significant value about the confocal microscope is the spatial filtering techniques that terminate the glare and focus the substance into the view. As it has been stated, there has been a tremendous explosion in the popularity of confocal microscopy in recent years, due in part to the relative the ease with which extremely high quality images can be obtained from specimens prepared for conventional fluorescence microscopy, and the growing number of applications in cell biology that ...
