The Invasion Of The Vietnam War
Firstly, the invasion of the Vietnam War cannot be justified when the US s ally in the war is a
corrupt democracy. When the Vietnam War began the United States puppet state was Ngo Dinh
Diem s South Vietnam. Diem was a dictator or the President supposedly of South Vietnam that
took power for himself there, and threw all of his civil and political opponents into violent
concentration camps. The South Vietnamese President had also oppressed those of different
religions specifically Buddhism ( NGO DINH DIEM, FIRST PRESIDENT OF SOUTH VIETNAM
. ). Eventually, the Viet Cong who would rather support a communist regime formed due to the
oppressive nature of Diem s ruthless democracy. By the time North Vietnamsought to unify the
country Diem had opposition from all perspectives, including his most trusted peers. Even with his
mockery of a democracy, the United Statesbelieved it had to support his efforts in the defense of
democracy in South Vietnam. The United States did want a change of power, but were willing to
continue with Diem if deemed necessary to win. Benjamin Frankel states this by stating advised the
State Department that the United States should begin to search for an alternative to Diem. On 1
November 1963 South Vietnamese military officers overthrew Diem, and he and his brother were
shot to death ( Vietnam War: Was U.S. Military Intervention in Vietnam Justified? ). Democracy is
about everyone having fair trials, civil liberties, and the right to free speech.

Color Television In The 1950 s
Color Television
First, I would like to define what color television is and then give some background history. Color
television is a television transmission technology that includes information on the color of the
picture, so the video image can be displayed in color on the television set. There was time when
television wasn t what it is today. Before many of us were born, the earliest television technology,
which was the monochrome or black and white television. The black and white sets displayed
images of grey and the monochrome sets showed rapid colors of red, green and blue which
together showed images of color. Many of the T.V. s were floor models or tabletop bulky sets.
Television was upgraded from the black and white screen to color in the 60 s and 70 s. The
invention of color television and its standards are an important part of television history.
Second, I will explain how color television had an impact in the 1950 s. Television struggled to
become available world wide during the early 50 s. Even in the 40 s there were only 3 ... Show more

The major change in television happened when AT T installed cables from coast to coast, which
allowed for the transmission of signals, resulting in thousands of calls being made as well as
T.V. signals to view many shows that we all love today. People heard and viewed events all at
the same time. They could experience and react together when events or tragedies happened. Any
cultural differences no longer existed since shows weren t only in black and white. Many
different cultures were able to learn about each other through shows or documentaries. During the
late 60 s, household s that had televisions rose tremendously. These opened doors for a wider
variety of shows such as comedies, cartoons, westerns, talk shows, elections just to name a few.
Also this opened doors for many actors and actresses that we watch and follow

The Importance Of Accounting As Well As Ethics
Follow up to the Interviews I am very fortunate to have been able to interview three business
owners that I come in contact with almost daily from working at a golf course. I asked them all a
wide variety of questions both through interviews as well as surveys (see appendices.) I asked them
numerous questions both relating to accounting as well as ethicsin the business world. They all
game me a large range of answers to the majority of the questions that I asked them, however they
all had two things that were common answers. First off they all have very favorable views of
accountants. If a problem were to ever occur with regards to their financial statements because of
their ethical standards they know it would be an honest mistake. They... Show more content on

First, if it were not for the people at the top of the Enron Company making horribly unethical
decisions than none of this would have happened. However because this is an accounting
project and the focus of this paper is on accounting, I personally believe that the Andersen firm
should be held most responsible for what occurred. They let the fraud and deceit occur right
under their noses. There are three terms that from auditing class that I remember more than the
rest of the class itself. First is competence. There is no doubt in my mind based on the research
and the facts that the AA team didn t have the proper training and competence to do their job at
Enron. AA was a top five auditing firm in the entire world. To be working for the company and
their standards you had to be able to do the job properly. Second is professional skepticism and
objectivity. Both of these played a huge role in allowing the scandal to occur and then continue
on. The AA employees worked right alongside the Enron top officials. They were greatly
influenced by these officials and never questioned the legitimacy of the reported financial
statements. Finally and perhaps most important is the term whistleblower. All it would have taken
is for one or two employees from either company to take the knowledge they had public. It would
have been especially easy for those

Themes In The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank redemption is about much more than just a young banker spending many years of
his life in prison. It shows us the struggles inmates go through to adapt to an environment as harsh
as prisons and how creating friendships with others helps the men get through the rough patches.
The film demonstrates that prisonis a world of its own, with its own rules and how many men
struggle to fit back into society when they are released.
Shawshank Redemption uses many good techniques to capture moments brilliantly. A few
examples of these are: when Andy first arrives at Shawshank an establishing shot is used to
show the prison. This allows the viewer to witness how bare and dull the prison is and how the
prisoners are not allowed to express themselves in any way. Another example is the director uses
parallels. Both Red and Brooks have the same experiences when they leave Shawshank, showing
the plight the characters face in the real world due to institutionalisation. This makes us fear that
Red s path will end the same as Brooks . However, the director shows us that we have a choice
and that Red and Andy s friendship has come such a long way that he carries on going because he
gave Andy his word he would go to the oak tree. The last example is the type of lighting ... Show

The aim of Shawshank is to isolate and reform criminals and teach them right from wrong.
Instead, the prison is full of corruption, greed, bribery, and money laundering. Everyone uses the
system to their own advantage, from Red, who smuggles goods into the prison, all the way to the
warden, who profits from forced prison labour. The warden makes Andy launder money for him
and this stops him from helping prove Andy innocent so that Andy can never reveal his secret. The
fact that Shawshank is as corrupt and tainted as the outside world further justifies Andy s escape
from a hypocritical system that does not care for the prisoners lives or

Major Luston Short Story
Major Luxon arrived, leading the Marines from the front; it was impressive to the Rowland
family to see the Marine Commander on the road with his men. Major Luxon met with Mr. and
Mrs. Luxon for about an hour. Mr. Rowland then asked the Major to follow him. Major Luxon
shrugged and thought, why not? The two men headed out to one of the many barns on the
property. Mr. Rowland swung open one of the doors, You think this will help you? Mr. Rowland
asked MajorLuxon. The barn was filled from top to bottom with wheat and corn. We had a
bumper crop this year and it seems to be all going to waste, Mr. Rowland told the Major. I m not

The Chrysanthemums Naturalism Essay
Naturalism is a literary genre introduced in the early nineteenth century based as an extreme form
of realism. Naturalistic writers use this technique to write stories based on certain environmental
factors and social conditions to truly interpret the characters through observation. In John Steinbeck
s, The Chrysanthemums, he focuses on these specific factors of social conditions and
environmental aspects as elements to configure the character of Elisa Allen. Steinbeck does an
excellent job in applying these elements of naturalismto Elisa s character for a better understanding
of her as well as the thematic purpose throughout the story. This short story begins with a married
couple by the names of Harry and Elisa Allen. They live on a... Show more content on

This important factor used in the story exemplifies the purpose of Elisa s feelings. The way
Steinbeck uses Elisa as a smart, independent, strong, beautiful women and the way she is
degraded by these men is a big controversy even in today s society. Her husband in the story is
essentially the money maker of the couple while she stays at home and plants flowers which is
considered to be a woman s job. Harry is in control of all the business aspects while Elisa
watches him from afar as she is not considered to be capable of such work. Steinbeck then brings
in this strange man who has traveled many places and has done many things. Elisa finds his
stories captivating and interesting and makes her desire for more in her life. She tells him she
is capable of performing tasks that he does for work but is quickly shut down as he tells her it is
more of a man s job. This gives us a sense of doubt Elisa has with her life as a woman and how
she will not get to experience an adventurous life as a man will. No one will know how capable
she is if the world is controlled by men telling women what they can or cannot do. The
chrysanthemums are the only thing she feels like she has accomplished and gifted to society. This
social aspect is a huge part of what Elisa feels throughout the story creating a thematic principle on

Why Is Charles Kane A Good Person
I believe that Charles Foster Kane could ve been a good person, but ended going down the
wrong path. He was given a large sum of money when he became an adult, but in return basically
had his childhood stolen from him (Hughes). His mother wanted him to live the rich life instead
of in a little town where she was living and to eventually inherit her recently found fortune
(Hughes). When he was given this money, he let it take over his life and lost sense of how he
should behave. Because of this, I do not personally like Charles Kane due to how he let the money
affect his decisions.
I believe that the author portrays Charles Kane as sort of an evil man through the things he does,
but shows that Kane doesn t realize how he is behaving is wrong. One example of this would be
how he ran his newspaper company the New York Inquirer (Citizen Kane). He presented the news
in the best way possible to get as many people as he could to read it. Even if he had to lie a little
bit in the title or in the actual stories, all he cared about was being everyone s main source of
news. This however was the opposite of what he originally wanted to do which was to present
only honest and true news. One time he lied about the news was in relation to his second wife

However, Thatcher and Kane never fully see eye to eye and a bond is never really formed
between them. When Charles went into the newspaper business, his true colors were shown by
something he did in regard to Thatcher. Walter Thatcher was a banker, so Kane wrote in the
newspaper attacking the baking business in an attempt to get back at Thatcher for taking him from
his family (Citizen Kane). This shows that Kane wasn t a very good person because Thatcher tried
his hardest to get Charles to like him, but was never successful in doing

Overpopulation And Congestion In New York City
Traffic Doesn t Cause Congestion, People do
New York City has always had issues with overpopulation and congestion. As of July 2016, the
U.S. Census Bureau has estimated New York City s population at 8,537,673. That s an increase
of 362,500 residents (or 4.4 percent) over the April 2010 decennial census count of 8,175,133. The
city has not witnessed such a robust pace of growth in over a half century. And, as New York s
population continues to upsurge, so does its problems with overcrowding and congestion.
Neighborhoods, like South Jamaica, Queens, where I m from, hasn t been omitted from the
populace boom that was once exclusive to the more appealing boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn
and The Bronx. When people migrated to the Big Apple from all over the world, they settled in the
boroughs closer to public transportation and burgeoning job markets. Jamaica, Queens wasn t
considered the ideal borough for families moving from the South to the north because throughout
the 19th to early 20th centuries, Jamaica was mainly populated by whites as new Irish immigrants
settled around the places known today as Downtown and Baisley Pond Park. By the 1950s,
however, in what was later called white flight , African American families with middle incomes
began to move in as white families fled to Long Island. After the 1970s, as housing prices began to
tumble, many Hispanic, such as Salvadorans, Colombians, Dominicans, and West Indian
immigrants, moved in. These ethnic groups tended to stay

Viacom, The American Media Collaboration

Implications
Viacom assets are still very powerful, as they reaching tens of millions of people every day. Bob
Bakish has the opportunity to lead with new reform for the organization. It is important for the
organization to feel they are in the right hands after constant turmoil over the last 18 months. His
strength here is having the capability to experiment with new ideas, like new content and
programing, developing new relationships with streaming services.
A growing digital license would mean the organization should construct a deal with popular
streaming services, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. This will increase revenue and ultimately help
rejuvenate stock prices.
Viacom is going to have to become adaptable. This mean creating new content and creating
programs that is interesting to their core audience. If Viacom partnered with the like of Amazon,

A Man for All Seasons Essay
In the beginning of A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More is introduced as a profoundly
religious man focused on adhering to the laws of his country and faith. As the play progresses
the audience sees More putting further faith into his belief that by abiding to the present laws
and withholding his opinion about King Henry VIII s divorce he will be protected from
prosecution. The issue starts when the King wishes to divorce his brother s wife, who initially
he had taken as his own through a special papal dispensation, in order to wed Queen Anne and
produce a male heir. More, being a devoutly religious man, realizes this goes against the laws of
the Church. He refuses to give his willing approval based on the fact it is not morally or... Show

He believes that if he is summoned to the Court that the jury will look at the evidence and realize
there is no probable content to convict him of, therefore, proving him to be an innocent man who
has done no wrong. More distinctly states this belief when he tells Cromwell, The law requires
more than an assumption; the law requires a fact. Sir Thomas More, pg 131
However, he has not planned for a false testimony from Richard Rich at his trial. Rich testifies
that More has committed the act of treason by rejecting the authority of King Henry VIII as head
of the Church in England. As king of England, Henry has the power and the unquestionable
authority to act based off his own desires even if they are not legally or morally acceptable.
Because his current wife, Catherine, who was also his brother s widow, has failed to birth a son,
he wishes to divorce her and take Queen Anne as his new wife. Without a male heir to the throne,
Henry s lineage will come to an end and England will be left without a successor. He admits this to

However, how does the advancement of video games affect our relationships with one another?
While a group of people strongly believe that it is helping bring people together, the addiction, the
over competitiveness mentality, and the frustration that video games generate are, in reality,
pushing people apart.
Video games are addictive. It makes its users forget themselves and their surroundings, including
their loved ones. What makes people addicted to video games is the fact that video games are
constantly rewarding people for every little in game act they do when playing the game. For
instance, one gains virtual currency or skill points for every point, rebounds, blocks, and steals
one records in the game NBA 2K. Another example, one gains money and reputation points
every time one finish a mission in the game Grand Theft Auto. The constant rewards are a type
of positive reinforcement that people do not easily receive in real life and this makes people
want to keep playing the games over and over again: The addition of a stimulus [will] increase
the probability that a behavior will be repeated (Grison 212). In this instance, the addition of a
stimulus is the rewards (virtual currency or reputation points) that video games give to its users
and the behavior that is expected to be repeated is the act of playing that video games. In an article

Bullying In Sports
Your heart races as the shrill of the whistle marks yet another 55 minutes of once a weekly hell ,the
palms of your hands become clammy with sweat and your throat becomes tight with fear.
I strongly believe that sport should be not be compulsory in all school levels
According to https://www.psychologytoday.com/ sportcreates high levels of discomfort and
anxiety to children .psychologytoday asked young athletes to fill out questionnaires assessing
how anxious they are at a particular moment. In a series of studies conducted at UCLA, Drs. Tara
Scanlan and Michael Passer obtained anxiety ratings from boys and girls immediately before and
after soccer matches. They found that about 20% of the kids reported high levels of stress before
the game, and many of them reported high anxiety after games that their teams had lost. Also If the
child loses, then they will lose self confidence which will make them even more likely to lose their
next game.
Another point on which I will focus on is bullying. Bullying is defined as intentionally using verbal

Essay on Franklin D. Roosevelt
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born January 30, 1882. He was the only child. His parents were
James Roosevelt and Sara Delano Roosevelt. He was raised very fortunate because his family had
a lot of money. Franklin, at age fourteen, attended Groton School. For his undergraduate degree he
attended Harvard University. At Harvard he was elected editor in chief of the college paper.
Franklin looked up to his distant cousin, Teddy Roosevelt. He wanted to be in office just like Teddy
was. He ran for his first office in 1910 for New York s state Senator. With in three years he was

He then passed the Emergency Banking Act, which gave federal assistance to banks. He also
created the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps, which paid young men to work on conservation
projects under the Army s supervision. He also created the AAA, Agricultural Adjustment act, too.
The AAA subsidized farmers for limiting acreage and taxed processors of products to pay for
subsidies, and many more.
Roosevelt s policies prevented the bottom from falling out of the American economy. He also did
his best to aid the Allies despite congress resistance. After the attack of Pearl Harbor, Franklin
knew how to handle things. He set up a front that met a very high goals of production levels. He
knew the only way the war could be won was by the country who had the most resources.
He also realized that peace after war would only be guaranteed by the great powers of the world so
he created the International Monetary Fund, the United States Nations, and he negotiated peace.
Although Roosevelt is often criticized by some of his decisions he made while in office, he
made many great changes to the American society. If I had to recommend this book to anyone I
would probably be honest and say don t waste your time unless you are in to biographies. To me

The combination of a carbonyl (C=O) group and hydroxyl (в€’OH) group on the same carbon atom

Who Is The Antagonist In The Silence Of The Lambs
Part One: Director Writer
The Silence of the Lambs is directed by Jonathan Demme, with the screenplay written by Ted
Tally and the novel it is based on (of the same name) written by Thomas Harris. Other notable
films directed by Jonathan Demme include Philadelphia (1993) and The Manchurian Candidate

This is where the other parallel story comes into play Clarice (and the rest of the FBI) are trying

Barbarianism In The Road By Cormac Mccarthy

these situations there seems to be a common theme that presents itself over and over again. Many
of these people become so desperate to live they will give up their morals and give in to whatever
they can to get by. Occasionally, there is one person stronger than the rest, one able to hold onto

While on the road, in a few flashback sequences, the fate of the boy s mother is revealed. Among the
flashbacks, there was a conversation between the man and his wife after the boy has been born. The
man entreats his wife not to commit suicide. She wishes to die by her own hand however, in order
to escape what she believes is her inevitable rape and her family s inevitable murder. She wishes
that their pistol had three bullets, not only two, so that she could spare her entire family from
their gruesome fate. Throughout the conversation, the man continues to beg her to reconsider
her decision or at least wait until the morning to say goodbye to their son. After her death, the
man and the boy pack up their camp, and the boy only says, She s gone, isn t she? (McCarthy

there for her son, like a devoted parent, she chooses to leave this world out of pure fear of the
post apocalyptic event. She even goes so far as to question the existence of her husband and
newborn; yet she does not even do a small good deed as to tell her son goodbye. Instead, she
chooses to burden her husband to be the sole proprietor for their son; thus revealing her animalistic
nature. In addition, in preparation for the catastrophe, the dark nature of the boy s father is also
evident through his decision to buy a gun in anticipation of the worst possible scenario. Contrary to
popular belief, he does

Examples Of Allegory In The Crucible
Purification The Crucible, a phenomenal play, written by Arthur Miller is an allegory to the
McCarthy Trials of the 1950s. An allegory is a story with two levels of meaning literal and
symbolic. In an allegory the character, events, and instances( Definition of Allegory R104).
Characters like John Proctor, Abigail William and Hathorne represent Arthur Miller, Joseph
McCarthy, and J.Edgar Hoover. Events like the people who were hanged, and people were
accused of being witches were similar to blacklisted and they blamed for being communist.
Instances were, when Procter s wife was pregnant, and Danforth made people choose a side
were in comparison to Francis Walter s wife took a photo with his finance and the communist
hide their beliefs. Miller wrote The Crucible as an allegory to show morality within a society that
will accept others, to teach paranoia results in trauma and to criticize the government way of
causing unnecessary fear. In the allegory several characters represent real people, for example,
John Proctor is symbolic to Arthur Miller. Therefore, both were convicted of serious crimes against
society. John Proctor was honest about innocence before the court accused him. (Miller 198). On
the other hand, Arthur Miller was called before the HUAC and was asked to give information on
communist activities( Navasky 219). These men are seen as noble because they would not bend to
the corrupt courts, but provided truthfulness. In Miller s case, he admitted to attending

include the marital status of the employees. Moreover, nurse manager needed to be more restricts
with those who did not follow the schedules. However, researchers should have asked those
freaking nurses about their impression in order to know the reasons. Reasons might be some thing
between them and the nurse manager which could be handled easily by third party.
Agreement OR disagreement
The study was implemented only in one unit that consists of high numbers of nurses. However, I
would have preferred to run this study in two different units in order to have precise result, and
compare the data from both units.
Self scheduling did not work for everyone and there were some nurses wanted to ruin it for every
one. I would have preferred that these observation or opinions were held with those nurses who
were not abeyance to the self scheduling study. There could be social problems, work problems or
even there might be no harmony between them and their manager.
Another point, I noted that the sick calls remained steady and did not change. In my opinion,
there should have been decreased sick calls but the study did not indicate clearly about the
reasons for sick calls. Thus couple things come in my mind, did sick calls come from the same staff
for the previous years? Did they have social problems or were seasonal sick

Quetzalcoatl s Influence On The Aztecs
We all have our own ideas, religion and a way to see the world and its creation. There are many
different civilizations around the world. and each of these have their out myths and legends about
how was the world created. According to Cartwright, the Aztecs also known as the Mexicans were
one of the most powerful empires which were located in MexicoCity before called Tenochtitlan, but
covered most of northern Mesoamericaduring 1345 and 1521(Cartwright, Aztec). Kay and Gonzales
also mention that the Aztecs settle their empire on Tenochtitlan because their god Huitzilopochtli
sent an eagle sitting on a cactus to indicate where they should build their new home, which end
being in the center of Mexico and they ended calling it Tenochtitlan. In addition to this, they also

Quetzalcoatl sacrifices himself and became the second sun, also known as 4 wind sun.
Quetzalcoatl was also known as the Plumed Serpent , he was a god for different cultures as the
Maya, Toltecs, and the Aztecs, he was a god related to the wind god; therefore, he was known as
the 4 wind sun (Maestri, Quetzalcoatl). Kay and Gonzales stated that Quetzalcoatl was one
important god for all cultures, because of his two personalities; he was extremely active god
while creating and destroying the universe, that made him have a creative side, and his second
personality was his way of governing, he was as a cultural hero (Read and Gonzales 223). Now
with the second sun, humans were able to only eat piГ±on nuts. But after some time, the world
suffers of many catastrophic disasters as hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters,
ending this world in chaos. The only survivors in this world were transformed into monkeys, and
as the first case, this world only survives for 665 years (Maestri, Aztec).

Leadership In Beowulf
A leader in any tale is an exceptional figure, whether good or evil, they also display tremendous
strength above all others be it physical, emotional or mental. Their qualities instill in them a
reverence that all of their subjects come to realize and respect. The role of leader is usually first
assigned to a different character and upon completion of his journey the main character usually
becomes the leader or a figure who has the potential to lead others, the leader is usually a well
known, revered, however they are alone, both figuratively and physically. Beowulfwritten by an
unnamed poet has multiple characters that the reader can identify as leaders, one whom is within
the first five lines of the text. Shielf Sheafson, is described... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Beowulf begins with a history of the Kings of the Spear Danes, beginning with Shield Sheafson.
Shield Sheafson, arrived by sea alone, likely that as a child all Shield brought with him only a
sheaf (pg.41 footnote2)1. Sheafson, described as the scourge of many tribes, a wrecker of mead
benches...terror of hall troops (l.4 6)1. As his legend grew so did his influence and kingdom, by
the time he died every clan that touched an outlying coast had to pay tribute to him. He was one
good king (l. 11)1, he had a sea burial; buried alone, set adrift on the sea. He controlled all aspects
he was powerful, revered by all and alone in the end.
Beowulf the central character, by the completion of the tale also imbues the qualities of a leader.

of his exploits throughout the world such as his swimming match with Breca as the story grows

Examples Of Allusion In All The Light We Cannot See
In the novel, All The Light We Cannot See, the author, Anthony Doerr, uses allusion to convey
how Marie Laure (one of the main characters) interprets the book 20,000 leagues under the sea.
Since she is blind, Marie Laure reads in braille and was given two significant things to help her
adjust to her blindness; The book 20,000 leagues under the sea, and a handmade scale model of
her town used for navigation. As she continues to read the book she learns that Pages later, he
[Captain Nemo] rammed a warship full of men, passing through its hull like a sailmaker s needle
through cloth (Doerr 445). This quote showcases how war is motivated. Captain Nemo was kind of
an anti hero in the sense that he killed huge sums of people, but the clear... Show more content on

On page 520, Doerr uses imagery to show how a diamond called the Sea of flames will
eventually rise up from the water again and belong to someone with ill intentions. The stone
would be discovered in another year, another day, another hour, when a storm claws one
particular stone out of a canyon and sends it into a clattering flow of alluvium, where it
eventually finds, one evening, the attention of a prince who knows what he is looking for. The
Sea of flames was a diamond that everyone wanted out of envy. It was priceless and beautiful, but
was also cursed; It protects the person who has it until they realize they can they survive on their
own. Marie Laure s father gives her the stone, but she learns that she never needed it in the first
place and that it does more harm than good. She decides to tell her friend Warner to throw it out
in the water inside a box with a key from the Natural Museum of History, where her father had
worked. This event can be interpreted in many different ways, but the main idea that sticks out is
that Warner dies after he gets rid of the stone. Once he no longer possessed it, it could no longer
keep him safe. Everyone but him survived after the curse was lifted and the stone was given back
to the sea. This quote comes long after the initial event, and showcases that the stone would not be
hidden forever. That greed, no matter how much it is suppressed, will find its way to the

Nannocrystalline Zno Film Analysis
The formation of nanocrystalline ZnO films was confirmed by using X ray diffraction. XRD
patterns of simple glass substrate and ZnO coated glass substrates were shown in figure 3(a) and (b

35Лљ in 2Оё range was depicted in figure 3(a) and was clearly evidenced in ZnO coated substrates.
A comparatively low intensity and broadness in diffractionpeaks was observed in single layer

nanocrystallinity. It was observed that the peak intensities gradually increased from triple figure

However in Rietveld refinement the peaks profile is fitted using Pseudo Voight functions, which is
linear combination of Gaussian and Lorentzian functions. The internal strain (Оµ) may arise from
the chemical reaction involved in the growth process of ZnO films and having negligible effect on
peak broadening. The microstructural (crystallite size and lattice strain) and structural (lattice cell
constants, atomic positions and occupancies) parameters refinement was performed using the space
group P63mc. The values of the crystallite size, strain, and lattice parameter obtained from the
Rietveld refinement and Scherrer methods are shown in Table 1. In table 1 the microstructural
analysis shows the lattice parameters are well matched lattice constants for the standard values of
the hexagonal wurtzite structure of ZnO. Furthermore, the variation of single to five layer coated
ZnO film lattice parameters a and c is remarkable, when compared with the standard ZnO, due to
the complexity of the hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure of ZnO and anisotropic variation in the
crystal lattice. As seen in Table 1, the ratio of the lattice parameters a/c is slightly affected by
deposition cycles. However, the unit cell volume of as prepared ZnO film is decreased from 47.598
to 47.501 Г…3 with increasing the deposition cycle from single to five cycles. The similar
performance was observed for the Zn O bond length (l) which decreases from 2.09 to 2.03A with

Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In
By: Peter Block
Written: 11/28/05
For our book report for IS Planning and Management, we were to read and review, Getting to Yes:
Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In, by Roger Fisher, William Ury, and Bruce Patton. The
book was written to educate readers on how to become better, more effective negotiators. They start
with defining the difference between positional negotiations versus principled negotiations. They
then move on describing their four principles for effective negotiation: People, Interests, Options,
and Criteria. Additionally, they describe three common obstacles to negotiation when the other
party is more powerful, what if they won t play, and when the ... Show more content on

In positional bargaining, negotiators spend much time defending their position and attacking the
other side s. Teams using objective criteria use time more efficiently talking about standards and
possible solutions. There are also three basic points to remember when negotiating with objective
criteria:
1)Frame each issue as a joint search for objective criteria.
2)Reason and be open to reason as to which standards are most appropriate and how they should be
applied.
3)Never yield to pressure, only to principal.
Now we move on to common obstacles to negotiation. First, What if they are more powerful? This
chapter introduces the concept of the BATNA or Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement. This
is your standard by which any proposed agreement should be measured. This is your gauge that
tells you to cut and run. At what point will you withdraw from the negotiations. When the other
side has power, guns, or some other leverage, a good BATNA can help you negotiate based on
your principal rather than trying to strong arm based on position. Developing a strong BATNA,
according to the text, is perhaps the most effective course of action you can take in dealing with a
seemingly more powerful negotiator. Second is What if they don t play fair . In this chapter, the
authors describe ways that some parties try to either strong arm their way through a negotiation or
try not to

The Nation s Drug Problem Essay
Nation s Drug Problem (United States)
Over the last couple of years, there has been increased concern over the effects of drugs on the
health of Americans. This is mainly due to the increased use of drugs by most citizens, which has
caused the government to spend a lot of money to curb this problem. One of the most abused
drugs is alcohol, and American citizens are increasingly becoming addicted to it. It is also the
most undesirable drug, as it costs the government over $200 billion in terms of productivity, health
and crime related costs (Office of National Drug Control Policy 2).
Marijuana, which accounts for over $100 billion in costs, is the next most common drug after
alcohol. Drug addiction is not only in adults, but also in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cocaine use is however on the decline, mainly due to the legal frameworks established to curb its
transit and sale. Heroin is also rarely used and the reason for the decline is the increased fight
against illegal drug use by government agencies. With increased use, these two drugs cause serious
addiction that takes time and money to control. Although marijuana is illegal in most states, the
continuing debate aimed at making it legal causes the drug to increase in popularity and
availability. Despite the fact that it is illegal, marijuana s popularity has continued to increase.
According to recent research by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(SAMHSA), prescription drugs are also being misused (Brauser 1). Although the focus has been
mainly on the illegal drugs, most citizens have continuously abused the prescription drugs.
According to the report, there has been an increase in the opiate admissions from 8% to 33% in a
span of ten years (Brauser 1). This is a very huge increase compared to the indulgence in other
drugs and substances. One of the reasons cited as the possible explanation for the increased abuse
of prescription drugs is ignorance. Most individuals have resorted into making their own judgments
concerning illnesses and purchasing drugs without directions from medical practitioners.
Making decisions about the drugs to take amid health conditions should be the work of the doctor.
However, most individuals make assumptions and

Starbucks, higher current ratio means an inefficient use of cash and other short term asset.
Thus, Starbucks had more net working capital and was less efficient in using short term assets
in 2011 than it was in 2009 and 2010. 7. The debt assets ratio of Starbucks decreases 4.61% from

assets. The number of available for sale securities, inventories and cash and cash equivalents

means they can get their money back with less risk. To shareholders, lower debt assets ratio

Face to face interviews, surveys, focus groups, and observations are all tools used in primary
research. These tools help researchers gather data directly from the targeted groups. Primary
research is proprietary information that the researchers own and can use as they see fit. The
researcher can make this information available to others or not. This type of discovery can be
exciting and create an advantage to the researcher because it has yet to be disclosed. Further,
primary research allows the researcher to have a greater degree of control over the research
process while looking for answers to specific research questions. However, primary research is
time consuming because the process can be lengthy and involved. Developing the rapport that is
required to conduct many of the studies that are involved in primary research takes time and effort.
Additionally, primary research can be expensive.
According to Aaker, Kumar, and Day (2007), secondary research is composed of data that were
collected by persons or agencies for purposes other than solving the problem at hand (p. 110).
Secondary research is often used to help researchers narrow the scope of their research.
Researchers have little control over secondary research. However, secondary research is less
expensive and, with the wealth of information it provides, it can be overwhelming. Still, if done

Taking Responsibility In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
When people don t take responsibility for their actions unacceptable things happen. For instance,
drunk drivers don t take control of themselves once they are intoxicated. They get behind the
wheel rather than calling a taxi, which puts other people s lives in danger. There has been 1,142
people who were killed in crashes involving a drunk driver in Minnesota from the years 2003
2012. The theme of not taking responsibility for their actions shows up in Mary Shelley s book
Frankenstein. People say it s a story about a monster, but it s really much more than that. Through
the events of when Victor Frankenstein creates the monster and abandons it, him not speaking at
Justine s trial, and Robert Walton turning back to save his shipmates, Shelley shows that people
should take responsibility for their actions. Victor Frankenstein s actions of creating the monster
and abandoning it demonstrates the consequences for lack of responsibility. Victor spends his
career creating a monster. He creates the monster using dead human corpses. It takes Victor almost
two years to build the monster. Victor is horrified when the monster first wakes up causing him...

monster causes a lot of destruction in the Frankenstein family, because he wants revenge for Victor

and taken responsibility for what he created. Victor should have been aware of the consequences
when he decided to abandon his hideous

Comparing Influences
Comparing Influences: Faulkner and Plath
In the poem Daddy by Sylvia Plath tells about a woman suffering because of the pain inflicted by
her father. The story is narrated in first person point of view by the author using aggressive tone to
describe the antagonist of the play in the narrator s thoughts. In relation to the poem, William
Faulkner s A Rose For Emily tells a story of a woman who used to be a bright young girl, but has
become a symbol of decay and a obsolete object that is a part of history. The story is told from a
third person point of view and talks about the grievances Miss Emily had to withstand from her
father s death. Both the poem and the short story tell of a woman who had a fatherly figure that
acted as an antagonist throughout the story, but both women were influenced in a different way.

In the poem Daddy , the narrator quotes that her father was a Nazi Fascist who would mistreat
Jews the same way he mistreated her. The evidence shown by the father indicates that the
narrator was mistreated when she says The boot in the face, the brute Brute heart of a brute like
you (Plath, 10). Because of her father s mistreatment, the narrator was influenced to commit
suicide. In A Rose For Emily , her father has influenced Emily by not providing self sufficiency to
Emily making her co dependent on her father so when she became older, she could not keep
healthy relationships or have developed good communication skills which ultimately led to her
insanity. Examples of Miss Emily s dependence and insanity is shown when she would
continuously say that her father is not dead to the doctors and saying that they should not dispose
of the body (Faulkner, 19). In both pieces of literature, the masculine figure in the family has

Term Limits For Congressmen
Term limits should be made for Congressmen because there have been instances where
Senators and Representatives have served 20, 30, 40 and even 50 years in Congress, these
Congressmen seem to become detached from those they represent and hold too much power and
influence in Congress. This undermines the intended purpose of the legislative branch.
Allowing these career politicians to remain their whole lives in Congress give them too much
influence and they might have shared the same ideas as the people they represented when they first

Holiday by Margaret Atwood Essay examples
Holiday by Margaret Atwood Holiday by Margaret Atwood has a simple and familiar subject but
the real meaning behind the simple story is hard hitting and in many ways it is a warning. She
talks of a holiday and story shows how she is at a barbeque with her family in the countryside.
However she interweaves a bleak image of our future within this straightforward story. It starts of
with Atwood describing her daughter eating sausages. She uses the words barbarism and creates an
image of burst meat dripping down her chin these words create a very primitive and uncivilized
image. She describes them standing beneath a large leafed tree with nature as their only protection.

We humans are too placid. like a breath, a footstep shows that the danger is creeping up slowly
and softly but is without doubt there. She uses a juxtaposition in the next line saying, with its
calm eye of fire calm and fire are 2 opposites as fire is never meant to be calm. She says that fire
or danger is coming but very peacefully. The calm nothing carries with it an explosive danger,
which we are ignorant to. She then comes back to present and describes the scene around her.
She continues to depict her daughter eating and looking for berries. However the line grace
plumps the berries, two or three hot and squashed in her fist seems to be a metaphor. I think that
Atwood is saying simply that her daughter finds a Few dusty berries and then squashes them in
her hand. However its profound meaning seems to be that grace or blessing from god has made
the berries round and juicy, they slowly became dusty and now man destroys it so frivolously. It
is a metaphor showing nature and how man treats it presently, without much care. She also says
the blades of grass are still with us , as she remembers that we still have grass and expresses
gratitude. The last stanza is clearly a warning where she says that so far we have destroyed nature
carelessly and for fun, but we have already

The West Indian manatee or sea cow is a manatee, and the largest surviving member of the
aquatic mammal order Sirenia. An article published by The IUCN Red List of Threatened
Species states, The number of mature individuals is currently estimated to number less than
10,000 (based on combined population estimates for the Florida and Antillean subspecies) and is
expected to decline at a rate of at least 10% over the course of three generations (given a
generation time of ~20 years) as a result of both habitat loss and anthropogenic factors (1). By this,
the article means that the population of The West Indian Manatee is far below average. The
population is expected to decline by a rate of at least 10% over the next three generations. This is
mainly due to human influence and loss of habitat. The same article goes on to state, Threats to the
Florida manatee encompass catastrophic natural events and anthropogenic factors (1). This means
that the decrease in population of The West Indian Manatee is partially caused by disastrous natural
occurrences and human factors. The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species states, About half of
adult mortality rangewide is attributable to human related causes, primarily watercraft collisions
(1). This means that half of the deaths of The West Indian Manatee are caused by boating accidents.

Benefits And Benefits Of Pay And Reward Strategies
Several pay and reward strategies can be adopted by organisations. However, each of the
strategies involves issues that must be considered as it could affect the employees and the
organisation. Therefore, it is vital that each organisation implement and develop certain pay and
reward strategies, which are aligned with its own business strategies. This will ensure that
perspectives of employees, employers and the costs are all considered in the course of the
application of each strategy. The aim of this essay is to explain and evaluate the main pay and
reward strategies adopted by organisations as well as the benefits and disadvantages of each.
Graded pay, broad banding graded pay, labour market related pay, performance related pay and total
reward which includes financial and non financial rewards will all be explained in detail and
evaluated as well as the benefits and drawbacks of each.
Gilmore and Williams (2013) suggest that one of the most important Human Resource Management
activities in any organisation is reward management such as pays and benefits as well as non
financial rewards which is also referred to as intrinsic rewards since this can have a strong impact
on recruiting new people and retaining existing employees. In addition to this, Bartol and Locke
(2000) and Caruth and Hand logten (2001) explains that financial rewards satisfy employees basic
needs for survival such as security and recognition at work and intrinsic rewards are the

The fifteen years following World War II saw unprecedented growth in the United States economy.
This postwar prosperity fueled the purchase of material goods by the American people as personal
savings were at an all time high (Divine 946). The advertising industry turned from wartime
propaganda to advertisement of consumer goods. The Phillips Jones Corporation, who
manufactured Van Heusen apparel, used print advertisement to promote its product. The Van
Heusen advertisement, Show her it s a man s world , appeared during the 1950 s and symbolized
the perceived ideal that women were subservient to men. The ad pictures various neckties, which

Texas bureaucracy Essay
The state bureaucracy administers/implements the laws of Texas. It is run by executives whose job
is to see that the laws of the state are implemented according to the will and intent of the
Legislature. Ideally, these executive branch officials or bureaucrats are to administer their duties
and implement the laws in a neutral manner, uninfluenced by politics. In reality, state bureaucrats
are important players in not just implementation, but also policymaking. In Texas, there is no
overall central governing or controlling authority. Governmentauthority in Texas is very
decentralized, and rests within many independent state agencies.

The first solution that seems to fix a problem is often the solution picked. When bureaucrats pick
the first expedient it is called a satisfice. Kerwin notes that along the way rules and regulations may
slow the process and possibly prevent organizations from making decisions.
The executive branch consists of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Comptroller of Public
Accounts, Land Commissioner, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, the three member
Texas Railroad Commission, the State Board of Education, and the Secretary of State. Texas has a
plural executive branch system, which limits the power of the Governor. Except for the Secretary
of State, all executive officers are elected independently, making them directly answerable to the
public but not the Governor. The executive branch also includes several boards and commissions
that are made up of a mixture of elections and gubernatorial appointments confirmed by the Senate.
In addition, there are many independent boards, commissions, and agencies that operate
independently of the governor. Power is decentralized among many officials. Although the governor
appoints over 3,000 individuals to 285 plus state boards and commissions, he has very limited
removal authority and thus, has little control over the executive branch. Even with the Governor
appointing several members of boards and commissions, the overall effect is a large network of
administrative groups that neither the

highly statistically significant. Soenen (1993) examined the relationship between the net trade
cycle as a measure of working capital and return on investment in the US enterprises.
The results of chi square check showed a negative relationship among the length of net trade cycle
and return on assets. In addition, this opposite relationship was found to be different across
industries. A significance relationship for approximately half of industries studied showed that
results might differ from industry to industry.
Another fact of working capital management was examined by Lamberson (1995) who examined
how small enterprises react to fluctuations in economic activities by moving their working capital
requirements and the level of current assets and liabilities. Current assay to current liabilities ratio,
current assets to total assets ratio, and inventory to total assets ratio were used as a measure of
working capital, however, the index of the annual average coincident economic meter was used as a
measure of economic activity.
Opposing to expectations, the study found that there is a very slight relationship between
fluctuations in economic circumstances and changes in working capital. To conenterprise the
results of Soenen (1993) on large sample and with longer time period, Joseet al. (1996) tested the
relationship among aggressive working capital management and profitability of the US enterprises,
using the Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) as a measure of working capital

The banking industry in Nigeria has witnessed tremendous changes linked with the developments in
ICT over the years. The quest for survival, global relevance, maintenance of existing market share
and sustainable development has made exploitation of the many advantages of ICT through the use
of automated devices imperative in the industry. This study evaluates the response of Nigerian
banks to this new trend and examines the extent to which they have adopted innovative
technologies in their operations and the resultant effects. Information and Communication
Technology Information Technology (IT) is the automation of processes, controls, and information
production using computers, telecommunications, software and ancillary equipment such as
automated teller machine and debit cards (Khalifa 2000). It is a term that 4 generally covers the
harnessing of electronic technology for the information needs of a business at all levels. Irechukwu
(2000) lists some banking services that have been revolutionized through the use of ICT as
including account opening, customer account mandate, and transaction processing and recording.

Essay On Glimepiride
Fixed dose glimepiride/metformin was available in normal and sustained release tablet. A
multicenter randomized study reported similar efficacy, hypoglycemic events and compliance
between these two formulations. Mean HbA1c reduced by

glimepiride/metformin was as effective as glibenclamide/metformin in reducing HbA1c but more
patients achieved HbA1c 7% at 12 month of treatment with glimiperide/metformin (44.6%

This study showed that in these patients with type 2 diabetes not adequately controlled by dual
combination therapy with metformin and a thiazolidinedione, the addition of glimepiride improved
glycemic control compared with placebo with an acceptable tolerability profile. Although there
were signifi cantly more episodes of hypoglycemia with triple therapy than with dual therapy and
placebo, the risk for severe hypoglycemia was low. This study again supports the use of glimepiride
in conjunction with TZD combination therapies.

The central event in these diseases is the conversion of a host encoded cellular prion protein
(PrPC) into abnormally folded, disease associated isoforms (PrPSc) in the brains of infected
animals. In this study we report that treatment with glimepiride reduced the amount of PrPC
expressed at the surface of primary cortical neurones, neuronal cells and prion infected neuronal
cells. Subsequently, glimepiride treatment significantly reduced the amount of PrPSc within 3
prion infected neuronal cell lines (ScGT1, SMB and ScN2a cells) and glimepiride treated
cortical neurones showed increased resistance to the toxic effects of PrP82 146. The protective
effect of glimepiride was accompanied by reduced binding of PrP82 146 to neurones, reduced
activation of cPLA2 and PGE2 production. These effects of glimepiride were observed at
physiological concentrations, however they were not shared by 2

Marketing Plan For Fast Food Industry
America has been encountering many different types of cultures since it was first founded. These
distinct types of cultures lead to the development of various types of food options. Since the last
three decades of the twentieth century, fast food productions stood out to be the top meal choice.
The reason for this expansion of encounters with fast foodhas to deal with the American desire to
gain more material wealthand become more prosperous which is crucial when the nation is in an
economic depression. Americans expanded their encounters with fast foods to help the nation
acquire the wealth that it desperately needs by means of franchising, advertising, and processing of
food.
A strategy that the Americans use when they seek to get out of this economic depression is
Franchising. Franchising became the top choice that America has went to because of its vast
potential in money making. Franchising acquired its popularity by establishing a common method
of service which gave customers the comfort that they look for when they look for a meal. The
mother company surveys its baby companies to make sure that they are performing at the accepted
standards. For this purpose the mother company is willing to give out training at Hamburger
University to teach their workers the proper way to serve and obtain more consumers. When the
customers go out to get their meals, they are going for something that they are familiar with.
Although this approach lacked variety, it lowered their

  • 2. The Invasion Of The Vietnam War Firstly, the invasion of the Vietnam War cannot be justified when the US s ally in the war is a corrupt democracy. When the Vietnam War began the United States puppet state was Ngo Dinh Diem s South Vietnam. Diem was a dictator or the President supposedly of South Vietnam that took power for himself there, and threw all of his civil and political opponents into violent concentration camps. The South Vietnamese President had also oppressed those of different religions specifically Buddhism ( NGO DINH DIEM, FIRST PRESIDENT OF SOUTH VIETNAM . ). Eventually, the Viet Cong who would rather support a communist regime formed due to the oppressive nature of Diem s ruthless democracy. By the time North Vietnamsought to unify the country Diem had opposition from all perspectives, including his most trusted peers. Even with his mockery of a democracy, the United Statesbelieved it had to support his efforts in the defense of democracy in South Vietnam. The United States did want a change of power, but were willing to continue with Diem if deemed necessary to win. Benjamin Frankel states this by stating advised the State Department that the United States should begin to search for an alternative to Diem. On 1 November 1963 South Vietnamese military officers overthrew Diem, and he and his brother were shot to death ( Vietnam War: Was U.S. Military Intervention in Vietnam Justified? ). Democracy is about everyone having fair trials, civil liberties, and the right to free speech. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Color Television In The 1950 s Color Television First, I would like to define what color television is and then give some background history. Color television is a television transmission technology that includes information on the color of the picture, so the video image can be displayed in color on the television set. There was time when television wasn t what it is today. Before many of us were born, the earliest television technology, which was the monochrome or black and white television. The black and white sets displayed images of grey and the monochrome sets showed rapid colors of red, green and blue which together showed images of color. Many of the T.V. s were floor models or tabletop bulky sets. Television was upgraded from the black and white screen to color in the 60 s and 70 s. The invention of color television and its standards are an important part of television history. Second, I will explain how color television had an impact in the 1950 s. Television struggled to become available world wide during the early 50 s. Even in the 40 s there were only 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The major change in television happened when AT T installed cables from coast to coast, which allowed for the transmission of signals, resulting in thousands of calls being made as well as T.V. signals to view many shows that we all love today. People heard and viewed events all at the same time. They could experience and react together when events or tragedies happened. Any cultural differences no longer existed since shows weren t only in black and white. Many different cultures were able to learn about each other through shows or documentaries. During the late 60 s, household s that had televisions rose tremendously. These opened doors for a wider variety of shows such as comedies, cartoons, westerns, talk shows, elections just to name a few. The Importance Of Accounting As Well As Ethics Follow up to the Interviews I am very fortunate to have been able to interview three business owners that I come in contact with almost daily from working at a golf course. I asked them all a wide variety of questions both through interviews as well as surveys (see appendices.) I asked them numerous questions both relating to accounting as well as ethicsin the business world. They all game me a large range of answers to the majority of the questions that I asked them, however they all had two things that were common answers. First off they all have very favorable views of accountants. First, if it were not for the people at the top of the Enron Company making horribly unethical decisions than none of this would have happened. However because this is an accounting project and the focus of this paper is on accounting, I personally believe that the Andersen firm should be held most responsible for what occurred. They let the fraud and deceit occur right under their noses. There are three terms that from auditing class that I remember more than the rest of the class itself. First is competence. There is no doubt in my mind based on the research and the facts that the AA team didn t have the proper training and competence to do their job at Enron. AA was a top five auditing firm in the entire world. To be working for the company and their standards you had to be able to do the job properly. Second is professional skepticism and objectivity. Both of these played a huge role in allowing the scandal to occur and then continue on. The AA employees worked right alongside the Enron top officials. They were greatly influenced by these officials and never questioned the legitimacy of the reported financial statements. Finally and perhaps most important is the term whistleblower. • 5. Themes In The Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank redemption is about much more than just a young banker spending many years of his life in prison. It shows us the struggles inmates go through to adapt to an environment as harsh as prisons and how creating friendships with others helps the men get through the rough patches. The film demonstrates that prisonis a world of its own, with its own rules and how many men struggle to fit back into society when they are released. Shawshank Redemption uses many good techniques to capture moments brilliantly. A few examples of these are: when Andy first arrives at Shawshank an establishing shot is used to show the prison. This allows the viewer to witness how bare and dull the prison is and how the prisoners are not allowed to express themselves in any way. Another example is the director uses parallels. Both Red and Brooks have the same experiences when they leave Shawshank, showing the plight the characters face in the real world due to institutionalisation. This makes us fear that Red s path will end the same as Brooks . However, the director shows us that we have a choice and that Red and Andy s friendship has come such a long way that he carries on going because he gave Andy his word he would go to the oak tree. The last example is the type of lighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aim of Shawshank is to isolate and reform criminals and teach them right from wrong. The warden makes Andy launder money for him and this stops him from helping prove Andy innocent so that Andy can never reveal his secret. Naturalistic writers use this technique to write stories based on certain environmental factors and social conditions to truly interpret the characters through observation. In John Steinbeck s, The Chrysanthemums, he focuses on these specific factors of social conditions and environmental aspects as elements to configure the character of Elisa Allen. Harry is in control of all the business aspects while Elisa watches him from afar as she is not considered to be capable of such work. Steinbeck then brings in this strange man who has traveled many places and has done many things. Elisa finds his stories captivating and interesting and makes her desire for more in her life. She tells him she is capable of performing tasks that he does for work but is quickly shut down as he tells her it is more of a man s job. This gives us a sense of doubt Elisa has with her life as a woman and how she will not get to experience an adventurous life as a man will. No one will know how capable she is if the world is controlled by men telling women what they can or cannot do. The chrysanthemums are the only thing she feels like she has accomplished and gifted to society. • 8. Why Is Charles Kane A Good Person I believe that Charles Foster Kane could ve been a good person, but ended going down the wrong path. He was given a large sum of money when he became an adult, but in return basically had his childhood stolen from him (Hughes). His mother wanted him to live the rich life instead of in a little town where she was living and to eventually inherit her recently found fortune (Hughes). When he was given this money, he let it take over his life and lost sense of how he should behave. Because of this, I do not personally like Charles Kane due to how he let the money affect his decisions. I believe that the author portrays Charles Kane as sort of an evil man through the things he does, but shows that Kane doesn t realize how he is behaving is wrong. One example of this would be how he ran his newspaper company the New York Inquirer (Citizen Kane). He presented the news in the best way possible to get as many people as he could to read it. Even if he had to lie a little bit in the title or in the actual stories, all he cared about was being everyone s main source of news. While a group of people strongly believe that it is helping bring people together, the addiction, the over competitiveness mentality, and the frustration that video games generate are, in reality, pushing people apart. Video games are addictive. It makes its users forget themselves and their surroundings, including their loved ones. What makes people addicted to video games is the fact that video games are constantly rewarding people for every little in game act they do when playing the game. For instance, one gains virtual currency or skill points for every point, rebounds, blocks, and steals one records in the game NBA 2K. However, I would have preferred to run this study in two different units in order to have precise result, and compare the data from both units. Self scheduling did not work for everyone and there were some nurses wanted to ruin it for every one. I would have preferred that these observation or opinions were held with those nurses who were not abeyance to the self scheduling study. There could be social problems, work problems or even there might be no harmony between them and their manager. Another point, I noted that the sick calls remained steady and did not change. In my opinion, there should have been decreased sick calls but the study did not indicate clearly about the reasons for sick calls. Now we move on to common obstacles to negotiation. First, What if they are more powerful? This chapter introduces the concept of the BATNA or Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement. This is your standard by which any proposed agreement should be measured. This is your gauge that tells you to cut and run. At what point will you withdraw from the negotiations. When the other side has power, guns, or some other leverage, a good BATNA can help you negotiate based on your principal rather than trying to strong arm based on position. Developing a strong BATNA, according to the text, is perhaps the most effective course of action you can take in dealing with a seemingly more powerful negotiator. One of the most abused drugs is alcohol, and American citizens are increasingly becoming addicted to it. Although marijuana is illegal in most states, the continuing debate aimed at making it legal causes the drug to increase in popularity and availability. Despite the fact that it is illegal, marijuana s popularity has continued to increase. According to recent research by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), prescription drugs are also being misused (Brauser 1). Subsequently, glimepiride treatment significantly reduced the amount of PrPSc within 3 prion infected neuronal cell lines (ScGT1, SMB and ScN2a cells) and glimepiride treated cortical neurones showed increased resistance to the toxic effects of PrP82 146. The protective effect of glimepiride was accompanied by reduced binding of PrP82 146 to neurones, reduced activation of cPLA2 and PGE2 production.
