Public Alert Warning System
The safety of the citizens is the priority of the emergency management for each and every event that
occurs. Early warning and communicating with the citizens allows time for the individuals to take
action and seek shelter. As technology advances, so to, must the methods of communicating the
warning of threats to the citizens. The various forms of communication must be encompassed into a
system that is both quick and multi faceted. The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System is
diverse and allows for alerts to be broadcast over various communication devices as a method of
mitigation and preparedness.
The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) was launched in 2006 due to

Essay on Hans Zimmer
Hans Zimmer Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt, Germany in September 12, 1957. As a child,
he began playing piano since he was three years old. Although he was receiving piano lessons, he
quickly became uninterested after only two weeks of piano lessons. Even more astounding he
decided to become a composer at age six. His father died when he was six and that is when he
decided to become serious about music, because it was his refuge as he quotes, It was my way of
calming the demons in me or at the same time sometimes letting them roar, letting them rip, letting
the monster out and seeing that it wasn t so scary being able to look it in the eye, (International
Dictionary of Films and Filmmakers 2). His family has been moving all over... Show more content

After his big success, he saw his career as a big fork in the road, he testifies, Lion King made me
reassess my situation in this town, Zimmer told Black. I admit that standing on the stage and
getting an Oscar [Academy Award] is the most seductive moment one can have in one s life.
Then you go, Wow, if I just carry on writing nice music like this, I can have this moment again....
That s why I did the exact opposite, scoring for truly offensive projects like The Fan. Just to
shake myself out of the desire for that Oscar experience. When he created the score for A
Crimson Tide, he used a large choir and it featured a majestic symphonic score, as well as 3 D
sound effects to enhance the film with action and suspense. Despite his choice to take the path
less glittered, he still received recognition for A Crimson Tide. He won a Grammy for the score,
and received another Academy Award nomination for The Preacher s Wife. That same year, the
performing rights organization BMI presented him with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement
Award before Zimmer was 40 years old, which is a great achievement on his part. And in 1998 he
received yet another Academy Award nomination on the movie As Good As It Gets (1998). In the
late 1990 s, Zimmer accepted a head position of the music division with the Dreamworks SKG
studio. While he was there, he supervised for all of their

Analyzing The Term Consuming Woman
Consuming woman
Fact: The term Consuming woman relates to the representation of the female image as an entity
with unleashed desires. In previous times, women have been repressed to only function as a mother
and reproduction object.
Fact: According to Dijkstra, women became dangerous to the image of men. Therefore, the female
desires have become problematic when modifying their current status of dependence. To show their
seductive, strategic and instinctive powers becomes a threat to males. Powerful women became a
threat
Analysis: The Consuming woman concept and embodying a good life have a strong connection.
Women have been repressed during centuries, and notoriously most of them do not achieve
happiness and a good life. Many women across

Analysis Of The Play After Seeing Mary Stuart
I was really looking forward to watching this play after seeing Mary Stuart. I came into the play
only knowing that the play was about couples. I liked coming into to the play not really knowing
what to expect from the storyline. I thought that the play was going to be about the couples
interacting more with one another as opposed to interacting in the individual couples. Since the
play is named cul de sac I assumed that there would be more interaction from the cul de sac all
together other than the few awkward encounters. I think I thoughtthat the play was missing a
climax. I am not sure when the climax or the height of the play was reached. I think that the lack of
a climax comes from the vagueness of the character objectives. I... Show more content on

Johnson character could have been looking for happiness in his job, in his own personal life, or in
his marriage. However, the only true happiness seeking action we see him do is chase his wife
around the kitchen. I also thought there was a lot going on in the play at that at times it was
hard to follow. I felt that there was just a lot going on and a lot of inferences that had to be made,
which took away from the actors. I also did not like how it seemed that the scenes with the
couples were supposed to be happening simultaneously and it seemed like the day was starting
over every time a new couple would take the stage. I wish there was a more fluid way those
scenes could have been run where you could see the Joneses dancing while the Smith s were
taking the breaks in between the argument. When the Johnson s switched to the stage, I
originally thought that it was a new day because at the end of the smith scene they were ordering
dinner and the lights seemed dim. It wasn t until Mr. Smith made the comment about making the
salmon until I realized it was still that same day, just being shown from a different house. Again I
wish there was a way the audience could have at least seen a small portion of the two couples
simultaneously just to give the audience an idea of the time frame. Also I felt like half the time I
didn t really know what was going on or that I missed something. For example when Mrs. Johnson
was so appalled that Mr. Johnson had gotten out of bed

Relational Cultural Theory Of Mother Daughter Relationships
Jordan (2011) writes about the application of relational cultural theory to mother daughter
relationships. Relational cultural theory argues that the mother child relationship continually
changes due to social context and time, and therapy can help children rework empathic failures and
acute disconnections to question the absolute certainty of poor mothering. There were several
statements that Jordan (2011) argued that I found particularly applicable to my life. The book
chapter mentions that immigrant mothers tend to lose the support of a larger familynetwork, and this
can affect mothering. There is also the mention of a desire for connection, and the lack of a
connection can lead to an inability to be authentic in a relationship.
The first point that I would like to mention is the idea that immigrant mothers lose support of an
extended family network (Jordan, 2011). My personal experience can verify this my parents left
their parents behind in Russia and rarely see them. The only extended family I have in the United
States are one aunt, one uncle, and two cousins. I have not seen them since I was 14 years old. The
impact of moving to a different country far from other family has great consequences. As far as I
know, my parents have few connections to other adults who understand their cultural background,
and as a result have no way of knowing if they are integrating their parenting beliefs appropriately
with the surrounding American culture. In addition, I have not

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Limestone Caves
and minimized?
A Cave:
Caves, also known as karsts, are very unique and are a special part of our natural environment.
Caves form over a long period of time, 1000 of years (National Geographic, 2015). Caves are
made up of rock, ranging from volcanic to limestone. Limestone caves are more pleasing to the eye
as they usually contain more decoration such as stalactites, Shawls and Straws. As limestone caves
are more decorated they are more prone to damage and deformation (Science Kids, 2016).
Damaged caused by humans in caves:
Humans are causing great damage to limestone caves, some of which the caves themself cannot
recover from. Physical damage by humans has the greatest impact on caves (Bob Robins, 2005)
There are many ways humans have and continue to still damage caves, Majority of people assume
that the main damage to caves is through touching formations (Caving ,Survey 2017) However
there are many other factors that damage the cave just as badly such as graffiti, modernising caves
and rainfall. Tourist caves undergo the most damage (G.Enriquez, B, 2001)with lost formations,
climate changes, and urbanising the caves. Limestone caves are more susceptible to damage from a
change in climate than volcanic caves due to the rock type. When tourists enter caves they can
create thermal annomalies, the anomalies effect the overall temperature in the cave and this in turn
effects the production of formations. (FECYT, 2011). A research investigation undertaken by the

Similarities Between Spanish And English Colonial Societies
While there were a few similarities between the Spanish and English colonial societies due to alike
geography and and political structure, there were many differences that played into the different
development of the two societies, including differences in religion, economy, relations with the
natives, and governing styles.
The English colonies were established by royal charter and started in Virginia and Massachusetts,
but then later continued to spread along the coast. The English were accustomed to a Parliament
and a limited monarchy, and used this to provide the basis for their government in the colonies. The
Spanish, however, sent royal conquests to the Americas in order to settle colonies and expand the
Spanish empire. These colonies

What Is The Turning Point In Little Things Are Big
People can have big moments and small moments. It can be from having a death in the family or
having someone new in the family. These moments are called turning points. Turning points are
events or things that can cause someone a significant change in their lives. The story Little
Things Are Big by Jesus Colon is about a black porteriquen man named Jesus Colon who is on
the subway late at night and he sees a white woman with three children. He debates with himself
whether he should help her or not. He then decides he won t because he thinks she will be
prejudiced and get him in trouble. A turning for Jesus is when he decides not to help her and the
guilt he feels after. In the story Jesus is a man who is on the subway at night trying to get

Assassin Counter Culture
The bi racial rap group Assassin can relate specifically to traditional American Rap fans in
France as their sound is very similar due to the beats that they use for their songs. Similar in
sounds to rappers alike the Notorious B.I.G, N.W.A (N*gga s With Attitude), Dr Dre, Tupac
Shakir and the ladder of 90 s American rap legends, Assassin use backing tracks that are very
repetitive in order to create a sustained beat allowing listeners to focus on their lyrics whether
they were part of a political statement or spoke about minorities or violence. This was through
the technique of scratching vinyls, creating a repetitive beat, firstly experimented by
Grandwizard Theodore (Snapper, 2004). In Esclave de votre sociГ©tГ© (1991), the group refers
to their ethnic identity and socio cultural group, referring to them as a counter culture to the norm
of the time as the first lyrics say Je ne veux pas faire de politique, ma mission est artistique ( I do
not want to do politics, my mission is artistic )... ArrГЄtez de me mentir, nous en sommes esclaves

The ethnic group represents those of the slums of France and how there is a sense of being used by
the government or not being taken care of by the government, using Assassin as the voice of the
ethnic group. Largely as a counter culture, both African French and white French citizens are
represented through the multi cultural rap group, indicating that the music is for both races, as the

Life In The Past Of Pompeii s Life
Life in the Past of Pompeii Now Pompeii has no people, but back in the year 79 A.D., its people
lived their lives similarly to ours, today. The daily life of Pompeii was full of so much activity!
It had wealthy people, vagrants, resources, and tools. This all ended when Mount Vesuvius
erupted in 79 A.D. pompeii was one of the volcano s victims. Because archaeologists have
studied Pompeii, we know what the people of Pompeii s daily life could have been like. Pompeii
was destroyed quickly and thus preserved like a time capsule. (Secrets of Ancient Pompeii

Pompeii had simple tools, but we still use some of them. Household units, such as kitchens,
work in a similar way. Women, sometimes even men, had weaving glooms to make clothes
rather than buying them. Twenty thousand seats were found within a single stadium! We
believe that whenever we find medical instruments, they belong to doctors. But I think the more
high level first aid went on within households, Penelope Allison. (Secrets of Ancient Pompeii
Households Revealed in Ruins by Heather Whipps) Mothers and fathers were believed to be the
doctors . Farther on, archaeologist findings prove many things about the daily life of Pompeii.
Penelope Allison and Giuseppe Fiorelli are two talented archaeologists. Allison has even written
a book on her findings! Pompeii is very preserved and looks the same as in 79 A.D. Just like in
our past, the wealthy people owned slaves and servants. People were found holding jewels and
money or their children as they died. This shows us the values of Pompeii s people. Because

Importance Of Self Driving Cars
One reason we should have self driving cars is because they are a lot safer than regular cars.
According to a Business Insider article, Driverless cars are designed to have almost a
superhuman like ability to recognize the world around them. This shows that they are a lot safer
than regular cars because it says they have a superhuman ability This is way better than just a
regular driver. The way these cars work is by having cameras on all sides, so this ability is a
reference to the cars getting all that information from the cameras at once. A regular driver can
only see what s in front of them if they are looking forwards, but a self drivingcar could actually see

Let s say that we theoretically took all teenage drivers off the road and put them in self driving
cars. These are America s newest drivers with the least experience on the road, so think about how
many less accidents there would be. If this is what self driving cars could do in Phoenix, think
about what they could do all over the rest of the world.
Another reason we should have self driving cars is because they are better for the environment.
In an article by Business Insider, Cadie Thompson says Because cars will be automated, there
will be less chance of accidents caused by human error, leading to less traffic congestion. This
would be good for the environment because less traffic means cars spend less time on the road.
Some people get stuck in traffic for hours at a time, which means their car is producing a lot of
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), and that is very bad for the environment. Less of these traffic jams
would mean that cars would produce a lot less CO2. Imagine that you are driving to work and
get stuck in a traffic jam. You could go through almost a whole tank of gas just waiting to get
through it! But then, you get to the front just to realize that a bad driver ran into the median and
totaled his car. You just released a lot of CO2 into the air because someone crashed their car. And
you don t want to have to do that, do you? Self driving cars would not make these mistakes, you
would spend less time in traffic, leading to less CO2 emissions. Another reason

common rheumatic disorder in older adults and results in degeneration of the protective cartilage
over time. This disease is characterized by chronic pain, stiffness and functional impairment. The

personal trainer, nurse educator, and a social worker. A physical therapist would provide the patient
with range of motion exercises to improve muscle strength, recommend therapeutic modalities, as
well as recommend activities that will help decrease pressure on the affected joints. Because weight
loss is crucial to managing and preventing further progression, it is important to incorporate a
dietitian and personal trainer. Dietitians are beneficial for creating personalized meal plans and
suggesting nutritious foods that will help aid in weight reduction, while personal trainers create
exercise regimens that are specific to the patients disease process. In addition, an occupational
therapist will assist the patient in performing tasks without causing further pain or discomfort.
Education on joint protection techniques include; using proper body mechanics when lifting,
distributing pressure to other joints, and the importance of using orthotic devices. A rheumatologist
would also need to be included for their specialization in rheumatic disorders. Lastly, a nurse
educator and social worker would be beneficial. A nurse educator would help educate the patient on

Prometheus Bound Essay
The ancient Greeks had many hardships and even resemble those that we are facing in current
times; yet, to tell these stories they shrouded them in fiction so they could tell a truth. In the short

desolate cliff so that he may face the elements and never have a human look upon him since he
favored humans over Zeus. Here I will tell my analysis of PrometheusBound from the understanding
of who Prometheus was, the conflict that is presented among some of those who visited him, and
what his story has on our current society.

Color In Federico Garcia Lorca
In this play, the writer, Federico Garcia Lorca has used colour to symbolize a lot of things.
Colours hold as much importance in ones life as fire and water. Colours have a pivotal role in
this play as well. The use of colour has made it very easy for the writer to explain what the exact
situation was. Also it has been used to show the idea of foreshadowing to the audience. For
example the use of the colour black exposed to the viewers the idea of the deaths of Leonardo and

In Act 1, Scene 1, in the Bridegroom s house, the introduction states that the room was painted in
shades of yellow. Its gives a pleasant environment to the place as it is the colour of gold and
wheat which are considered as the signs of prosperity and wealth. However, the colour yellow is
also the sign on a traffic light portraying caution, and is then ironically contrasted with the deaths
that had taken place previously in the house. Also, as we see the mother s hate and anger towards
the Felix family as she believed the murders got executed, yellow also is associated with betrayal
and egoism. She has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Penguin Research Papers
The largest living penguin is the Emperor penguin. Years ago there were penguins that were much
larger. Fossils have been found of penguins that were 6 to 9 feet tall and weighed about 200 pounds.
The Emperor penguin is 3 to 4 feet tall and weighs 70 to 90 pounds. They carry 12 pounds of
blubber around their waist.
The Emperor penguins wing muscles are huge. Their wings are called flippers. When they stretch
out their flippers the span is 36 inches. Their flippers are very strong and if they hit your arm it
will break it.
The Emperor penguin is very calm and quiet friendly if they are not molested. The Emperor penguin
spends most of its time preening itself.
The Emperor s head is jet black and their back is black with a bluish sheen. Their chest is white
and has a light gold tinge. They have bright yellow or orange patches around their ears. They
have a rose or purple streak on their lower bill. They have white feathers on their legs. Their nose

The Emperor penguin raises his family in the winter along the shores of Antarctica which is the
coldest place in the world.
The Antarctica has an ice shelf that is several miles wide around it. The sun never sets in the
summer but sections of the ice shelf never melt. The Emperor penguin has been using these
sections for breeding places for many years. These breeding areas are called rookeries.
Emperor penguins will dive 150m under the ice to find drill and crustaceans. They will go down
400 to 450m to find fish and squid. Some have gone down 565m to find food. They can stay under
water for 2 to 9 minutes. Their record is 18 minutes.

John Donne s Poetry
John Donne is in fact a pioneer in the poetic wit of love; he has paved the way for many
metaphysical poets after him. His style of writing, although immediately recognizable, formed to
the events unfolding around him. His work covers his early years of sensuality, where he produced
explicit sexual poetry, along with his later years of religious study, where he wrote explicit
religious poetry, a lot of which are hard to tell apart. Because none of Donne s poetry was
published while he was living, it is difficult for us to date it accurately, but we can assume that he
wrote his more sensual poetry before he went to work with the church. He changed the way most
poets of the 16th and 17th centuries wrote and had a large impact on the poets to follow after...

In A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning,
Donne compares two lovers to the points on a compass. This is surprising because Donne was not
using the conventional Petrarchan conceit to make comparisons like his colleagues. A metaphysical
conceit requires a more introspective way of reasoning to understand the speaker s emotions. Many
were shocked over how Donne transformed the conceit, failing then to see that his use of the
metaphysical conceit offered new insight into his poems and lyrics.
Another way Donne differs from his fellow Renaissance poets is with the use of a present
listener. Donne writes directly to whom the poem was written for, while the other poets of his
day; mostly write their poems without directing it towards a specific listener. His poems have
very few large descriptive passages like the one s used in the works of Edmund Spenser. Donne s
poetry also doesn t have the smooth, poetic flow that the other Renaissance poets had. Donne has
done away with the poetic flow and instead opted to use a speaking voice, whose syntax can easily

Pediatric Intervention Proposal
Overview of the Problem
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children be screened for
developmental delays using a standardized tool at 9, 18 and 30 months of life. Use of a
standardized tool has been shown to improve rates of referral for early intervention and decrease
delays in referral when compared with developmental surveillance alone. In our hospital outpatient
clinic system, pediatric care is provided both in a 2 site pediatric practice and in 5 affiliated family
practice clinics; care is provided by pediatricians, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners and
physician assistants. Preliminary assessment has found that there is vast variation in the use and
documentation of standardized developmental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The clinics are quite different in terms of provider training, size, location, practice mix and clinic
flow. A single quality improvement plan that doesn t look at current practice structure is unlikely
to be successful in all locations. It would be very helpful to do a site visit at each location and
qualitatively assess how early childhood preventative visits are scheduled, what screening processes
are currently in place, what training staff have currently on developmental assessment and how
documentation is done. Because there are only seven sites, it is feasible to map out exactly how
developmental screening fits into preventative care or doesn t at each location. At this visit, we
could assess staff views on developmental screening, their perceptions about how implementation
would affect the practice and their interest in being a site champion. It would also be useful to find
out which screening tools different practices are using; the different tools assess somewhat
different information and require differing levels of education and time to administer. The site
visits would provide information on both the structure of care and the process of developmental

My Position As A Project Assistant
The focus of my position as a project assistant is document management. The document
management issue I plan to address relates to other project assistants and the remote site monitor
for my newest study. This study is a follow up study to a project that is already in place. All
documents in our studies must go through a review process, and this process involves all members
of the team. As a project assistant my department is responsible for the tracking, filing, and retrieval
of trial and onboarding documents. At the end of the project our documentation is audited, and any
issues that arise can impact the approval of the trialdrug.
The main issue that is occurring is our document turnaround time and accuracy has been struggling
due to employee turnover. This can create problems when auditors reference our system to see if
the approved documents were completed in a timely manner, and in some cases is a violation of
our standards to have documents go without updates. For example a medical license must be
verified and on file before its expiration date. Our document training varies by trial; for this specific
trial we are working off a simple document tracking guide, and our own notes from management.
My main goal is to improve and create a better set of tools to assist in our document management.
What I intend to do is update our original guide, and create a more simple tracking tool in Microsoft
excel. I have begun to update our guide by creating screen shots

Ron Weasley Essay
Irrevocably, Ron Weasley is a riveting and remarkably relatable member of the Golden Trio.
Unfortunately, the film adaptations of the Harry Potter books have slandered his depth and
relegated him to the position of comic relief and placeholder. From even the first movie, Ron s
character has been forced under thorough defamation, resulting in a character wholly unlike his
written counterpart, and the dynamics of our trio was transmogrified into hero, heroine, and
mascot. Having been robbed of a truly fascinating character, a substantial slice of the fanbase either
harbours scorn or expresses unmitigated vitriol towards Ron. The discrepancies between book Ron

Cause And Effects Of Drinking And Driving
During the past decade, more than 2,000 lives have been lost and more than 50, 000 people
have sustained injuries in collisions involving a drinking driver (Impaired Driving Fact Sheets,
2009). Drinking and driving is a major concern that many people are trying to correct. It has
caused many deaths and it is something that is completely preventable. Drinking and driving
causes many problems when families lose a family member or have been a victim themselves.
Governments in recent years have changed laws and added more consequences that are harsher,
in order to help discourage people from driving while under the influence. Many organizations
have been created in order to stop it and also create awareness. Drinking and driving effects not
only the person doing it but many other people as well. One way that it affects people is
emotionally. One person who lost his mother to a car accident caused by a drunk driver said in
his victim impact statement, We are a broken glass that will be put together one piece at a time,
but even if we find all the pieces and put them in their places, the cracks will always show
(Sinclair, 2009). Anyone who loses someone will have feelings of sadness but losing someone
also causes depression and feelings of anger because it was something that could have been
prevented. Feelings of guilt also accompany because loved ones may feel that they should have
protected them better. People that have survived a drinking and driving accident maybe

Nintendo And The Gaming Industry Essay
Nintendo, the once prominent leader of the gaming industry, may be going down a dangerous slope.
Since 1983 when Nintendo introduced the Nintendo Family Computer in Japan, later called the
Nintendo Entertainment System in the United States, Nintendo has relied on its lovable characters,
innovative products and family appeal to win the hearts of gamers alike. However through heavy
competition from various competitors and the increase in mobile gaming popularity, Nintendomay
be finding it harder to keep gamers of all types interested, especially when it s Nintendo who has
become lazy in keeping with the industries trends.
One of the biggest competitive challenges for Nintendo is the growing pressure on emerging
gaming platforms like Apple s iPhone and iPad. Nintendo also faces a competitive challenge from
Sony s Playstation and Microsoft s Xbox. In order to stay relevant, Nintendo must always be
actively competing in the market to remain strong; the President of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima,
has said that the new console will be nothing like any existing system by Nintendo, solidifying this
point.
The Wii represents the core product appeal of Nintendo, which is being a family oriented gaming
console. Through competitive pricing well below the competition, Nintendo is positioning
themselves as the affordable console in order to keep Nintendo brand relevant. PlayStation and
Xbox releases their products generally at the same time, which gears them towards competing for

Illustrations of Poly-Pharmacology in Dietary...
One of the most explicit illustrations of poly pharmacology in dietary phyto nutrient is Curcumin.
One can consider curcumin as an ideal candidate for preventive therapeutic action in cancer as a
sole agent or in combination with traditional therapies, because of its ability to target multiple
number of signaling pathways relevant to cancer [168,169]. One of the approaches for
identification of polypharmacological chemical compounds is virtual screening of all potential
molecular targets of interest for interactions with these chemicals [171]. Another approach to
enable virtual screening of the receptorome attempts to generate a compendium of computational
predictors (e.g., QSAR models or structure based models). Consequently, these constructed
models can be employed in the virtual screening of chemical libraries for recognition of novel
ligands for a panel of molecular targets and to predict polypharmacological matrices for these all
chemicals incorporated in the chemical database. Finally, a database of models can be built by
consolidation of these QSAR or structure based models. This database can be employed in parallel
virtual screening of chemical compounds to indentify the interacting partners from all the pre
characterized members of the receptor ome. Past research studies have successfully demonstrated
that the generation of QSAR models and subsequent model based virtual screening of chemical
libraries has led to the identification of chemically diverse

The Theory Of The Social Contract Theory Essay
On the formation of the Social Contract Theory has a long history, many people have formed Social
Contract Theory has made a great contribution. Thomas Hobbes as one of the representatives of
Modern Social Contract Theory, his departure from the theory of human nature, to a fictional state
of nature as a starting point, put forward the basic principles of natural law, natural rights, and then
through the Social ContractTheory, the establishment of his country theory. Thomas Hobbes
certain extent, played a significant role, for people to bring enlightenment. But his theory does
not apply in all cases; we need to analyze different aspects of different problems. In this essay, I
will describe the Social Contract Theory, and explain the problem of how do we get out of the
State of Nature raised by Hobbes Game. I explain the idea of cooperation that Thomas Hobbes can
give to this problem, and then argue that this is not a satisfactory response to the problem for three
reasons.
The main expression of the Social Contract Theory is to explore whether there is a legitimate
political authority, Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains no. He said political authority
in our natural state does not exist, so we need a social contract in a social contract, everyone
abandon natural freedom, and obtain freedom of contract; in the process of political participation,
only everyone equally renounce all natural freedom, assigned to the collectivity, human beings can

In the late 20th century, Australia?s indigenous peoples were 29 times more likely to be put in

receive bail or have legal representation in the court; and more likely to plead guilty. At the same

could not have otherwise afforded it, but it could do little to overcome injustices indigenous
Australians suffered under the Australian legal system.

Emerging research examining high intensity intermittent training (HIIT) indicates that it may be
more effective at reducing subcutaneous and abdominal body fat than other types of exercise. In
addition, it may promote health in various ways. I will focus on the comparison of HIIT and
traditional exercise on the exercise performance, fat loss, fitness, insulin resistance, etc. Possible
mechanisms underlying HIIT induced fat loss and implications for the use of HIIT in the treatment
and prevention of obesity are also discussed.
High Intensity Interval Training versus Traditional Exercise Interventions for Promoting Health
Abstract:

1. Introduction: High intensity interval training (HIIT) as a compromise between time consuming
moderate intensity training and sprint interval training requiring all out efforts, is emerging as a
potential time efficient strategy for health promotion. Current recommended guidelines of 150
minutes of moderate physical activity per week is reduced by half to 75 minutes if the week s
activity is done at a vigorous intensity (ACSM, 2014).

and their loss to a ship often brought an end to that ships sailing days. The women that sailed the
seas came from all walks of life; there were royals such as Queen Teuta of Illyria who sailed in the
200 s B.C., as well as the Irish seafaring clanswoman, Grace O Malley, who was practically royalty
in that culture in the 1500 s. There were also illegitimate daughters... Show more content on

After some time sailing she also served as a soldier in both infantry and cavalry units, very often
proving braver and more courageous than her fellow soldiers. While serving as a soldier she fell
in love with one of her comrades, and found a way to let him know she was a woman, and
shortly thereafter they married. After they were married, Mary and her new husband left the
service and set up a restaurant where their former comrades could come and eat. However, not
long after they opened the restaurant Mary s husband died and the war ended, leaving Mary
with no spouse, and no income since the soldiers no longer came to eat at the restaurant. She
gave up her restaurant and went back into sailing. Eventually the ship she was on sailed to the
West Indies where it was captured by pirates, whom she eventually joined. Initially Mary Read
had no intentions of becoming a pirate as it was something she always abhor d (Defoe, 1999, p.
146), and she was not planning on staying on that ship. Her intentions to leave the ship changed
when she fell in love with another pirate. Her new love had run into trouble with a much larger
pirate than him, fearing the worst for her love, she picked a fight with the same pirate and
scheduled him to a duel, killing him two hours before her lover was to fight him. Mary s life as a
pirate came to an end in 1720, when the ship she and her crewmates were captured and

Speech On Plastic Chairs
Plastic chairs are affordable and look great as well
Plastic chairs are a common feature in most of the Indian homes, be it rural or urban. Plastic chairs
are also convenient to use, clean and durable and that is the reason behind the popularity of plastic
chairs in India.
When it comes to picking out pieces of decor for your home, plastic furniture designs are often not
the kind of items you would associate with durability or visual aesthetic, but these peculiarly
creative designs are making this otherwise boring product much more interesting.
Even though the use of plastic in creating pieces of furniture may not create the most durable and
long lasting of products, the striking visual appeal that comes with the shiny gloss and texture ...

The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap
What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor
conditions? This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish
between poor and rich countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which
country has the highest GDP, but rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out
of poverty. Are there certain limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or
is it just that the poor will always be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of
mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on
these summaries, I will conduct further critical reviews on some and provide evidence to back my
opinion on the specific mechanism at hand.
To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps.
If one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their
incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase
from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist.
Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high
returns and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only
investing in the traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages
at a low level

Racial Disparity In Sentencing Essay
A rising controversy surrounding our justice system is whether or not racial disparity exists when
sentencing. Early studies concluded that racial disparity in sentencing was a result of
discrimination (Spohn, Gruhl Welch, 1981). For decades, these disparities in sentencing have led
to considerable empirical research, and helped to shape major policy changes (Starr Rehali, 2013).
In this paper, existing research focused on whether there are sentencing disparities between
Caucasians and minorities will be presented. This paper will also examine whether there is
evidence of a biased justice system or are minorities simply just more involved in crime. Within the
United States, there are significant racial disparities in sentencing (Turner... Show more content on

In 2010, President Barack Obama signed a Fair Sentencing Act with the objective to reduce
disparity when it came to sentencing for crimes including powder and crack cocaine. Several
have the belief that the Fair Sentencing Act will confront the issue of racial disparities in
sentencing for crimes involving drugs (Carlsen, 2010). Minorities are more likely to be in
possession of and convicted for crack cocaine drug crimes. Whereas Caucasians are more likely
to be in possession of and convicted for powder cocaine drug crimes. Prior to the Fair Sentencing
Act, one in possession of five grams of crack cocaine received equal punishment with one in
possession of 500 grams of powder cocaine (Carlsen, 2010). This contrasting disparity can impact
the way individuals view the system of justice allowing them to question whether the U.S. justice
system is biased. Through the U.S. justice system, bias can be presented in various forms. During
the pretrial detention stage, blacks were 10 percent more likely and Latinos three percent more
likely to be detained than white defendants. During the plea bargaining stage if a sentence is
awarded, minorities are more likely to be offered deals that include prison time (74 percent) and
very rarely are they offered deals of community service, fine or time served. Whereas Caucasians
have a lower rate of jail/prison time (50

The Great Terror Robert Conquest Summary
With Robert Conquest s first edition of The Great Terror published in 1968, critics acclaimed
that his work was a spotlight on the atrocities wrought by the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. Since
then, with new sources and statistics coming forward, there have been two reassessments
published by Conquest. Regardless of edition, the author attempts to provide the reader a
gripping account of Stalin s mass purges where millions were murdered and millions more were
sent to Soviet prisons in brutal, inhumane conditions. Furthermore, to give the reader a well
rounded view of this period Conquest writes about more than just the gulags. He shares his
research on the Moscow Trials, the vicious methods for obtaining false confessions, life in the
labor camps, and much more. These topics all provide for a bleak picture of life in the former
Soviet Unionduring the reign of the dictator Stalin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As with any other use of first hand accounts, the reader is presented with a more potent form of
storytelling that is easily diluted when the author describes the action for the audience in their own
words. For example, Conquest quotes Polish politician Zbigniew Stypulkowski to describe the
appalling conditions in the Soviet prisons where with cold and hunger and almost no sleep, a man
becomes like an automaton his eyes are bright, his legs swollen, his hands trembling. In this state he
is often convinced he is guilty (pg. 125). By using such striking quotes, Conquest accomplishes two
things. First, using eyewitness accounts better retains the reader s attention by placing them
directly in the action with those who lived it. Second, these testimonies give more credibility to the
author s work by showing that the author s interpretations and the real life events support each

very prosperous city of Galveston in 1900. Throughout the book you are told the events leading up
to the hurricane as well as an in depth look at the actions of certain individuals that greatly impacted
the devastation of this horrific storm. This story begins with the introduction of Mr. Isaac Cline, a
well educated Tennessee native, who served as the Chief Meteorologist in Galveston, Texas
during the late 1800 s. Isaac and his Wife Cora May, as well as their four kids, lived in their
newly built storm proof home alongside the Galveston Coast. Isaac took an interest in how
weather affected people s health, and did so alongside his ever eager brother, Joseph. During Isaac
s time as Chief Meteorologist, he helped lead the change in how modern Meteorologists study the
weather today. Galveston, being a bountiful city, had the money to put into public works that would
interest people into either living in or visiting Galveston. This busy city had intentions on becoming

Elements of Network Security
Introduction
The primary objective of a network security system is to, in a cost effective manner, balance
convenient access to legitimate users and inaccessibility to attackers. In a nutshell, the goal is to
prevent connectivity to anyone intending to cause harm to the network. The harm to which this
paper refers can come in the following forms:
1.Application level security threats, such as e mail viruses and attachments.
2.Threats to network infrastructure devices.
3.Theft of network connectivity services.
4.Unauthorized access from internal and external sources.

28, 2001). Because this is an automated system, it depends on a mechanical process of
discerning what is good or bad. This at times can lead to false positives or negatives, or the
blocking of a legitimate user and giving access to a system violator. This weakness in the Cisco
IDS requires that an additional form of violation detection be used.
In addition to the IDS, LADWP has a staff of technicians who provide continuous network
monitoring. In addition to keeping track of the alarms detected by the IDS Director Platform,
these technicians also use other tools to keep an eye on network traffic levels, as well as
performing routine vulnerability probing. One key tool used is Lucent s VitalSuite. This tool uses
real time event analysis, which helps to identify network resources that have exceeded acceptable
levels.
To properly use VitalSuite, the technicians establish what they believe to be normal network
activity. This norm is then used as a baseline to help in the identification of any abnormal network
traffic. Once the baseline is established, levels of severity are set. The levels are minor, major and
critical, with critical meaning immediate action is required. The only time the system alarms is
when a critical error is detected. During normal operations, the technicians monitor VitalSuites
display, looking for unusual events. These events can

1. Describe the rise of the American industrial city, and place it in the context of worldwide trends
of urbanization and mass migration (the European diaspora)
Cities grew up and out, with such famed architects as Louis Sullivan working on and perfecting
skyscrapers (first appearing in Chicago in 1885). The city grew from a small compact one that
people could walk through to get around to a huge metropolis that required commuting by
electric trolleys. Electricity, indoor plumbing, and telephones made city life more alluring.
Department stores like Macy s (in New York) and Marshall Field s (in Chicago) provided urban
working class jobs and also attracted urban middle class shoppers. Theodore Dreiser s Sister Carrie

expansion of Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Judaism, and the growing Protestant division between
liberals and fundamentalists over Darwinism and biblical criticism
In 1859, Charles Darwin published his On the Origin of Species, which set forth the new doctrine
of evolution and attracted the ire and fury of fundamentalists. Modernists took a step from the
fundamentalists and refused to believe that the Bible was completely accurate and factual. They
contended that the Bible was merely a collection of moral stories or guidelines, but not sacred
scripture inspired by God. Colonel Robert G. Ingersoll was one who denounced creationism, as he
had been widely persuaded by the theory of evolution. Others blended creationism and evolution to
invent their own interpretations.

Immigration Policy And Foreign Policy
Immigration policy and foreign policy are in many ways interlinked, as they are often used to meet
goals in one another s policy areas. Together, they are used to enhance the safety of our citizens,
making this topic particularly important. Immigration is specifically linked to our foreign policy
efforts with underdeveloped countries (Keely 1978). To fully understand one policyarea, you must
understand aspects of the other. Thus, one should consider these relationships when analyzing and
evaluating Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump s policies on immigration reform.
Immigration policy can often be used as a tool for foreign policy goals. This usually occurs when
national safety is threatened, and it is sparked by merely the perception that immigration and
terrorism are linked. Many believe that terrorists can enter our country by manipulating
Immigration laws such as refugee asylums, which leads to stricter immigration policy to better
secure our national safety (Franzblau 1997, 4 11). Even now, the Republican Nominee for President
of the United States, Donald Trump, makes statements like, our immigration system is being used
to attack us (Hensch 2015). Regardless of the truth value behind his statement, it is relevant to note
that the notion itself by such an important political figure could create a push for stricter
immigration policy. The change in policy may be surrounding the issue of immigration, but the
actual goal is the foreign policy goal of enhanced national

Data Collection Method
Research is defined as the organized and thorough analysis that is intended to answer questions
about nursing phenomena (LoBiondo Wood Haber, 2014). There are several different data
collection methods that are used when one is doing research design. For this discussion post I
will choose a type of data collection method and describe a scenario when it would be useful, as
well as potential pitfalls of the method. The observation method is a process of gathering data on
how people act under certain circumstances. This includes collecting data on verbal and non verbal
communication, behavior, and conditions of the environment. This is a great method to use when
collecting information on different cultures. I work on an ambulatory surgical unit and I believe
this method would be useful within my unit because we do admit patients who do not speak
English from time to time. This method would allow us to observe how non English speaking
patients and their families communicate verbally, as well as non verbally. We could study their
body language and how they act with each other and the healthcare team members. One of the
downfalls to this kind of method in regards to how I would use it on my unit, is that it would be
hard to realize what the patient and family members are communicating to one another, unless there
was an interpreter present. In conclusion, there are many different data collection methods that are
used for research. Many arguments in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If defendant s acts or omissions are found to be substantial contributing factors in the injury and
without these contributing factors the injury would not have happened, then cause in fact will be

Smith and Johnson (2010) have observed, Employers typically defend nonsubscriber claims on the

often not present in many employee injury cases (p. 102). Consequently, defendants will likely

Early warning and communicating with the citizens allows time for the individuals to take action and seek shelter. As technology advances, so to, must the methods of communicating the warning of threats to the citizens. The various forms of communication must be encompassed into a system that is both quick and multi faceted. The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System is diverse and allows for alerts to be broadcast over various communication devices as a method of mitigation and preparedness. In the past devices such as automated calling systems, sirens, Telecommunication Device for the Deaf/TeleTYpewriter, electronic billboards, weather radios, facility alarms and the EAS normally operated by using separate, proprietary protocols that could not communicate with each other. The first phase of creation was change the Common Alerting Protocol (EDXL CAP 1.2), by way of approval of the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) declared that the alerting industry had to come into compliance with the new protocol by September 2010 (Bristow 2011, para.9). • 3. Essay on Hans Zimmer Hans Zimmer Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt, Germany in September 12, 1957. As a child, he began playing piano since he was three years old. Although he was receiving piano lessons, he quickly became uninterested after only two weeks of piano lessons. Even more astounding he decided to become a composer at age six. His father died when he was six and that is when he decided to become serious about music, because it was his refuge as he quotes, It was my way of calming the demons in me or at the same time sometimes letting them roar, letting them rip, letting the monster out and seeing that it wasn t so scary being able to look it in the eye, (International Dictionary of Films and Filmmakers 2). His family has been moving all over... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After his big success, he saw his career as a big fork in the road, he testifies, Lion King made me reassess my situation in this town, Zimmer told Black. I admit that standing on the stage and getting an Oscar [Academy Award] is the most seductive moment one can have in one s life. Then you go, Wow, if I just carry on writing nice music like this, I can have this moment again.... That s why I did the exact opposite, scoring for truly offensive projects like The Fan. Just to shake myself out of the desire for that Oscar experience. When he created the score for A Crimson Tide, he used a large choir and it featured a majestic symphonic score, as well as 3 D sound effects to enhance the film with action and suspense. Despite his choice to take the path less glittered, he still received recognition for A Crimson Tide. He won a Grammy for the score, and received another Academy Award nomination for The Preacher s Wife. That same year, the performing rights organization BMI presented him with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award before Zimmer was 40 years old, which is a great achievement on his part. And in 1998 he received yet another Academy Award nomination on the movie As Good As It Gets (1998). In the late 1990 s, Zimmer accepted a head position of the music division with the Dreamworks SKG studio. While he was there, he supervised for all of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In previous times, women have been repressed to only function as a mother and reproduction object. Fact: According to Dijkstra, women became dangerous to the image of men. Therefore, the female desires have become problematic when modifying their current status of dependence. To show their seductive, strategic and instinctive powers becomes a threat to males. • 5. Analysis Of The Play After Seeing Mary Stuart I was really looking forward to watching this play after seeing Mary Stuart. I came into the play only knowing that the play was about couples. I liked coming into to the play not really knowing what to expect from the storyline. I thought that the play was going to be about the couples interacting more with one another as opposed to interacting in the individual couples. Since the play is named cul de sac I assumed that there would be more interaction from the cul de sac all together other than the few awkward encounters. I think I thoughtthat the play was missing a climax. I am not sure when the climax or the height of the play was reached. I think that the lack of a climax comes from the vagueness of the character objectives. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Johnson character could have been looking for happiness in his job, in his own personal life, or in his marriage. However, the only true happiness seeking action we see him do is chase his wife around the kitchen. I also thought there was a lot going on in the play at that at times it was hard to follow. I felt that there was just a lot going on and a lot of inferences that had to be made, which took away from the actors. I also did not like how it seemed that the scenes with the couples were supposed to be happening simultaneously and it seemed like the day was starting over every time a new couple would take the stage. I wish there was a more fluid way those scenes could have been run where you could see the Joneses dancing while the Smith s were taking the breaks in between the argument. When the Johnson s switched to the stage, I originally thought that it was a new day because at the end of the smith scene they were ordering dinner and the lights seemed dim. It wasn t until Mr. Smith made the comment about making the salmon until I realized it was still that same day, just being shown from a different house. Again I wish there was a way the audience could have at least seen a small portion of the two couples simultaneously just to give the audience an idea of the time frame. Also I felt like half the time I didn t really know what was going on or that I missed something. For example when Mrs. Johnson was so appalled that Mr. Johnson had gotten out of bed ... • 6. Relational Cultural Theory Of Mother Daughter Relationships Jordan (2011) writes about the application of relational cultural theory to mother daughter relationships. Relational cultural theory argues that the mother child relationship continually changes due to social context and time, and therapy can help children rework empathic failures and acute disconnections to question the absolute certainty of poor mothering. There were several statements that Jordan (2011) argued that I found particularly applicable to my life. The book chapter mentions that immigrant mothers tend to lose the support of a larger familynetwork, and this can affect mothering. There is also the mention of a desire for connection, and the lack of a connection can lead to an inability to be authentic in a relationship. The first point that I would like to mention is the idea that immigrant mothers lose support of an extended family network (Jordan, 2011). My personal experience can verify this my parents left their parents behind in Russia and rarely see them. The only extended family I have in the United States are one aunt, one uncle, and two cousins. I have not seen them since I was 14 years old. The impact of moving to a different country far from other family has great consequences. As far as I know, my parents have few connections to other adults who understand their cultural background, and as a result have no way of knowing if they are integrating their parenting beliefs appropriately with the surrounding American culture. In addition, I have not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Limestone Caves and minimized? A Cave: Caves, also known as karsts, are very unique and are a special part of our natural environment. Caves form over a long period of time, 1000 of years (National Geographic, 2015). Caves are made up of rock, ranging from volcanic to limestone. Limestone caves are more pleasing to the eye as they usually contain more decoration such as stalactites, Shawls and Straws. As limestone caves are more decorated they are more prone to damage and deformation (Science Kids, 2016). Damaged caused by humans in caves: Humans are causing great damage to limestone caves, some of which the caves themself cannot recover from. Physical damage by humans has the greatest impact on caves (Bob Robins, 2005) There are many ways humans have and continue to still damage caves, Majority of people assume that the main damage to caves is through touching formations (Caving ,Survey 2017) However there are many other factors that damage the cave just as badly such as graffiti, modernising caves and rainfall. Tourist caves undergo the most damage (G.Enriquez, B, 2001)with lost formations, climate changes, and urbanising the caves. Limestone caves are more susceptible to damage from a change in climate than volcanic caves due to the rock type. When tourists enter caves they can create thermal annomalies, the anomalies effect the overall temperature in the cave and this in turn effects the production of formations. (FECYT, 2011). The English colonies were established by royal charter and started in Virginia and Massachusetts, but then later continued to spread along the coast. Assassin Counter Culture The bi racial rap group Assassin can relate specifically to traditional American Rap fans in France as their sound is very similar due to the beats that they use for their songs. Similar in sounds to rappers alike the Notorious B.I.G, N.W.A (N*gga s With Attitude), Dr Dre, Tupac Shakir and the ladder of 90 s American rap legends, Assassin use backing tracks that are very repetitive in order to create a sustained beat allowing listeners to focus on their lyrics whether they were part of a political statement or spoke about minorities or violence. This was through the technique of scratching vinyls, creating a repetitive beat, firstly experimented by Grandwizard Theodore (Snapper, 2004). In Esclave de votre sociГ©tГ© (1991), the group refers to their ethnic identity and socio cultural group, referring to them as a counter culture to the norm of the time as the first lyrics say Je ne veux pas faire de politique, ma mission est artistique ( I do not want to do politics, my mission is artistic )... According to a Business Insider article, Driverless cars are designed to have almost a superhuman like ability to recognize the world around them. This shows that they are a lot safer than regular cars because it says they have a superhuman ability This is way better than just a regular driver. The way these cars work is by having cameras on all sides, so this ability is a reference to the cars getting all that information from the cameras at once. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let s say that we theoretically took all teenage drivers off the road and put them in self driving cars. These are America s newest drivers with the least experience on the road, so think about how many less accidents there would be. If this is what self driving cars could do in Phoenix, think about what they could do all over the rest of the world. Another reason we should have self driving cars is because they are better for the environment. In an article by Business Insider, Cadie Thompson says Because cars will be automated, there will be less chance of accidents caused by human error, leading to less traffic congestion. This would be good for the environment because less traffic means cars spend less time on the road. Some people get stuck in traffic for hours at a time, which means their car is producing a lot of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), and that is very bad for the environment. Less of these traffic jams would mean that cars would produce a lot less CO2. Imagine that you are driving to work and get stuck in a traffic jam. You could go through almost a whole tank of gas just waiting to get through it! But then, you get to the front just to realize that a bad driver ran into the median and totaled his car. You just released a lot of CO2 into the air because someone crashed their car. And you don t want to have to do that, do you? Self driving cars would not make these mistakes, you would spend less time in traffic, leading to less CO2 emissions. Another reason ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Color In Federico Garcia Lorca In this play, the writer, Federico Garcia Lorca has used colour to symbolize a lot of things. Colours hold as much importance in ones life as fire and water. Colours have a pivotal role in this play as well. The use of colour has made it very easy for the writer to explain what the exact situation was. Also it has been used to show the idea of foreshadowing to the audience. For example the use of the colour black exposed to the viewers the idea of the deaths of Leonardo and the Bridegroom particularly. In Act 1, Scene 1, in the Bridegroom s house, the introduction states that the room was painted in shades of yellow. Its gives a pleasant environment to the place as it is the colour of gold and wheat which are considered as the signs of prosperity and wealth. However, the colour yellow is also the sign on a traffic light portraying caution, and is then ironically contrasted with the deaths that had taken place previously in the house. Also, as we see the mother s hate and anger towards the Felix family as she believed the murders got executed, yellow also is associated with betrayal and egoism. She has ... • 24. John Donne s Poetry John Donne is in fact a pioneer in the poetic wit of love; he has paved the way for many metaphysical poets after him. His style of writing, although immediately recognizable, formed to the events unfolding around him. His work covers his early years of sensuality, where he produced explicit sexual poetry, along with his later years of religious study, where he wrote explicit religious poetry, a lot of which are hard to tell apart. Because none of Donne s poetry was published while he was living, it is difficult for us to date it accurately, but we can assume that he wrote his more sensual poetry before he went to work with the church. In A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning, Donne compares two lovers to the points on a compass. This is surprising because Donne was not using the conventional Petrarchan conceit to make comparisons like his colleagues. A metaphysical conceit requires a more introspective way of reasoning to understand the speaker s emotions. Many were shocked over how Donne transformed the conceit, failing then to see that his use of the metaphysical conceit offered new insight into his poems and lyrics. Another way Donne differs from his fellow Renaissance poets is with the use of a present listener. Donne writes directly to whom the poem was written for, while the other poets of his day; mostly write their poems without directing it towards a specific listener. His poems have very few large descriptive passages like the one s used in the works of Edmund Spenser. Donne s poetry also doesn t have the smooth, poetic flow that the other Renaissance poets had. Drinking and driving is a major concern that many people are trying to correct. It has caused many deaths and it is something that is completely preventable. One can consider curcumin as an ideal candidate for preventive therapeutic action in cancer as a sole agent or in combination with traditional therapies, because of its ability to target multiple number of signaling pathways relevant to cancer [168,169]. One of the approaches for identification of polypharmacological chemical compounds is virtual screening of all potential molecular targets of interest for interactions with these chemicals [171]. Another approach to enable virtual screening of the receptorome attempts to generate a compendium of computational predictors (e.g., QSAR models or structure based models). Consequently, these constructed models can be employed in the virtual screening of chemical libraries for recognition of novel ligands for a panel of molecular targets and to predict polypharmacological matrices for these all chemicals incorporated in the chemical database. Finally, a database of models can be built by consolidation of these QSAR or structure based models. This database can be employed in parallel virtual screening of chemical compounds to indentify the interacting partners from all the pre characterized members of the receptor ome. Shorter papers and fewer references would be appropriate if there is greater critical analysis of the subject area. Literature review: High intensity training versus traditional exercise interventions for promoting healthпјЋ Emerging research examining high intensity intermittent training (HIIT) indicates that it may be more effective at reducing subcutaneous and abdominal body fat than other types of exercise. In addition, it may promote health in various ways. I will focus on the comparison of HIIT and traditional exercise on the exercise performance, fat loss, fitness, insulin resistance, etc. Possible mechanisms underlying HIIT induced fat loss and implications for the use of HIIT in the treatment and prevention of obesity are also discussed. There is an ancient superstition that women are not good for ships. The contradiction between woman as sea power and woman as a sea jinx is hard to understand. Women pirates however rarely brought bad luck to a ship, they were actually very good luck, and their loss to a ship often brought an end to that ships sailing days. The women that sailed the seas came from all walks of life; there were royals such as Queen Teuta of Illyria who sailed in the 200 s B.C., as well as the Irish seafaring clanswoman, Grace O Malley, who was practically royalty in that culture in the 1500 s. • 43. The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor conditions? This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish between poor and rich countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which country has the highest GDP, but rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out of poverty. Are there certain limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or is it just that the poor will always be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on these summaries, I will conduct further critical reviews on some and provide evidence to back my opinion on the specific mechanism at hand. To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps. If one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist. Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high returns and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. • 45. Racial Disparity In Sentencing Essay A rising controversy surrounding our justice system is whether or not racial disparity exists when sentencing. Early studies concluded that racial disparity in sentencing was a result of discrimination (Spohn, Gruhl Welch, 1981). For decades, these disparities in sentencing have led to considerable empirical research, and helped to shape major policy changes (Starr Rehali, 2013). In this paper, existing research focused on whether there are sentencing disparities between Caucasians and minorities will be presented. Several have the belief that the Fair Sentencing Act will confront the issue of racial disparities in sentencing for crimes involving drugs (Carlsen, 2010). Minorities are more likely to be in possession of and convicted for crack cocaine drug crimes. Whereas Caucasians are more likely to be in possession of and convicted for powder cocaine drug crimes. Prior to the Fair Sentencing Act, one in possession of five grams of crack cocaine received equal punishment with one in possession of 500 grams of powder cocaine (Carlsen, 2010). Regardless of edition, the author attempts to provide the reader a gripping account of Stalin s mass purges where millions were murdered and millions more were sent to Soviet prisons in brutal, inhumane conditions. Furthermore, to give the reader a well rounded view of this period Conquest writes about more than just the gulags. This at times can lead to false positives or negatives, or the blocking of a legitimate user and giving access to a system violator. This weakness in the Cisco IDS requires that an additional form of violation detection be used. In addition to the IDS, LADWP has a staff of technicians who provide continuous network monitoring. In addition to keeping track of the alarms detected by the IDS Director Platform, these technicians also use other tools to keep an eye on network traffic levels, as well as performing routine vulnerability probing. One key tool used is Lucent s VitalSuite. This tool uses real time event analysis, which helps to identify network resources that have exceeded acceptable levels. To properly use VitalSuite, the technicians establish what they believe to be normal network activity. This norm is then used as a baseline to help in the identification of any abnormal network traffic. Once the baseline is established, levels of severity are set. The levels are minor, major and critical, with critical meaning immediate action is required. The only time the system alarms is when a critical error is detected. Together, they are used to enhance the safety of our citizens, making this topic particularly important. Immigration is specifically linked to our foreign policy efforts with underdeveloped countries (Keely 1978). To fully understand one policyarea, you must understand aspects of the other. Thus, one should consider these relationships when analyzing and evaluating Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump s policies on immigration reform. Immigration policy can often be used as a tool for foreign policy goals. This usually occurs when national safety is threatened, and it is sparked by merely the perception that immigration and terrorism are linked. Many believe that terrorists can enter our country by manipulating Immigration laws such as refugee asylums, which leads to stricter immigration policy to better secure our national safety (Franzblau 1997, 4 11). Even now, the Republican Nominee for President of the United States, Donald Trump, makes statements like, our immigration system is being used to attack us (Hensch 2015). There are several different data collection methods that are used when one is doing research design. For this discussion post I will choose a type of data collection method and describe a scenario when it would be useful, as well as potential pitfalls of the method. The observation method is a process of gathering data on how people act under certain circumstances. This includes collecting data on verbal and non verbal communication, behavior, and conditions of the environment. This is a great method to use when collecting information on different cultures. I work on an ambulatory surgical unit and I believe this method would be useful within my unit because we do admit patients who do not speak English from time to time. This method would allow us to observe how non English speaking patients and their families communicate verbally, as well as non verbally. We could study their body language and how they act with each other and the healthcare team members. One of the downfalls to this kind of method in regards to how I would use it on my unit, is that it would be hard to realize what the patient and family members are communicating to one another, unless there was an interpreter present.
