The document discusses sound design techniques used in the game Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. It analyzes the setting, mood, genre, and narrative of one scene. For the setting, wind and ship sounds were likely recorded or digitally created. The mood shifts from pleasant to grim to tense as the character Blackbeard confronts others. An orchestral violin piece is used during Blackbeard's angry speech. The open world RPG genre means music is sparingly used to let the narrative focus on the character. Music is incorporated strategically during dramatic moments to enhance the scene.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Assassin creed black flag

Unit 73: Sound For Computer Games
Game Title Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting The game is set in the Caribbean on a pirate ship at what looks like an island. At the start of the scene it starts with the sound
of things moving on the ship with wind. I thing
they did this by moving objects and recording the
sound or possibly digitally
Mood The mod starts f as pleasant as they greet each other as friends. Although the mood
is then grim as a character brings back bad news about a quest. Then the mood
turns tense as Blackbeard starts confronting a character. Another character is then
frightened as Blackbeard starts speaking to him. The mood is then relaxed as
Blackbeard jokes with another character
There is no music for about half the scene as you
can only hear things on the ship moving. there is
background music when Blackbeard is speaking
angrily which the music sound like Lord of the
Rings. I think they did this by using a orchestra to
play the violin
Game genre The game genre is an rpg open world game I think they specifically didn’t play a lot of music
deliberately so that music in dramatic moment
seem better and that because it is an RPG game
they want the game to deal mostly just you and
your character
Narrative The narrative starts out as pleasant as black beard greets a character. The sound of
black beards speech is the lowered and you can hear anger and frustration. And
then Blackbeard’s voice gets louder and you can sense his frustration. Blackbeard’s
voice becomes a bit calmer as he is talking to character and goes back to sounding
very loud and intimidating as he is trying to scare another character on the ship. And
then it goes calm as he jokes with a character
I think don’t use music for half of narrative to le
the scene flow. But a moment of the scene when
Blackbeard is giving a speech they use music from
what sounds like a violin to make the scene fit
better
