Artificial Intelligence
 It is the science & engineering of making intelligent
machines, especially intelligent computer programs.
 Intelligence is computational part of ability to achieve
goals in real world. various kinds & degree of
intelligence occurs in human, animals & some
machines.
History of Artificial Intelligence
 Alan Turning Test in 1950
Branches of Artificial Intelligence
 Search:
AI program often examine a large number of
possibilities. e.g move in a chess game etc.
Branches of Artificial Intelligence
 Pattern Recognition:
When program makes an observation, it is often
programmed to compare what it sees with a
pattern.
Example: A vision program may try to match a
pattern of eyes and a nose in a scene in order to
find a face.
Branches of Artificial Intelligence
 Learning from experience:
Program they do learn based on connectionism
and neural networks.
Branches of Artificial Intelligence
 Planning starts with general facts about the world,
facts about the particular situation & statement of
goal.
 From this a strategy is generated to achieve the
goal. In common cases, strategy is sequence of
actions.
Some Achievements of AI (Beating Humans)
 Deep Blue Computer Beat up the Chess Champion
Garry Kasparov in 1997.
 Capable of evaluating 2 Million positions per
second.
Some Achievements of AI (Beating Humans)
 Dasher developed at MDH that can run with a
speed of 100 meter in 9.5 Seconds
Future of Artificial Intelligence
 Soccer player robot in next 20 years will be able to
beat human soccer teams.
Future of Artificial Intelligence
 Human like robots for home purpose, walk, cooking
food, cleans etc.
Future of Artificial Intelligence
Will they ever be able to conscious, self aware?
