Difference Between Digital Reading And Digital Reading
Digital Reading vs. Printed Reading
For a person who loves to read, I could never imagine myself reading on a screen when it comes to the
choice of print or digital reading. Whether it is for research, schoolwork, or just for fun, the articles I
find online only encourages me to print them so that I could have a physical copy in my hands. That s
when the inseparable feeling occurs to me: I feel more of an attachment between the physical copy of
the text and myself. I become so indulged in the text that my surroundings disappear. I can ultimately
understand what I m reading and grasp all the book s pearls. Many people who enjoy reading can
reminisce with the same feelings that I have experienced. Even many of those who read for the sake of
completing a task can admit that there s not much of a strain when comparing print to digital reading.
This is why reading from a book is still a necessity in our daily lives: it allows for a better grasp of
information, greater memory production, and an enjoyable experience that the reader can always
appreciate.
When we read from books, our brains can attain more information at a more accurate and faster rate,
resulting in greater scores when displaying comprehension skills in the long run. Lauren Singer and
Patricia Alexander, scholars of University of Maryland, proves this instance in their experiment,
Reading Across Mediums: Effects of Reading Digital and Print Texts on Comprehension and
Calibration (2016). The study consisted of

Social Justice And Oppression
What is oppression to you? What is fairness? Equality? Equity? Social Justice?
Oppression consists of an individual or group limiting another s actions or choices, and exists in many
forms, including violence, intimidation, laws, and social exclusion. I believe oppression stems from
the belief that a group of individuals or sole individuals are better than, or worth more as humans than
others. With this presumption the oppressor constrains the oppressed by limiting their rights,
intimidating them as to prevent them from acting in a certain way, or ostracizing them in a social
setting. To me fairness requires impartial decision making. In other words a fair decision is made
without consideration of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious

The War Of Mass Destruction
In a war of mass destruction and huge weaponry, development of the next big offensive device was on
the minds of all the leaders involved. Many of these weapons were designed in secret laboratories
under the top scientists and physicists in the world. High emphasis and funding put into these designs,
the developments flourished. Some of these weapons were unbelievable successes, making their way
to the battlefield and meeting all the expectations set by their imaginative creators. Others, however,
did not make it any further than the testing unit. Numerous previously unheard of ideas were
presented, several being far ahead of their time. This was the cause for some of the weapons failures.
Although, these were launching pads for some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During its final testing, however, the Panjandrum nearly killed a filmer of the event, roaring towards
him and shooting rockets in every direction. Due to safety reasons, the project was discontinued after
that final test. Barnes Wallis, also British, designed what was called an Earthquake Bomb. This was a
bomb that fell from high above the earth, penetrated the ground, exploded, and caused an earthquake.
It was used towards the end of the war, on massively reinforced installations, underground caverns,
buried tunnels, and bridges. Some of Wallis bombs based on the Earthquake Bomb were used to
disable the German V2 factory, bury V3 guns, sink Tirpitz, the battleship, and other previously
undamageable targets. Another British bomb designed by Barnes Wallis was the Bouncing Bomb. The
concept was a bomb that bounced across water to avoid torpedo nets. It was designed to allow speed
and time of detonation to be pre determined. In May of 1943, a Bouncing Bomb was used to explode
German dams underwater, having a similar effect to Wallis other design, the earthquake bomb. Also in
the family of bombs developed by Great Britain, was the E61 Anthrax Bomb. This was a biological
bomblet, sub munition for the E133 cluster bomb. Within in was thirty five milliliters of anthrax
spores, or other pathogen,on 30.600 sharp flechettes. The anthrax bombs were relatively lightweight
and portable, because even just a scratch would prove lethal.

Rhetorical Analysis Of A Political Party
about all the rancor surrounding Trump s hostile discourse even though it affected minorities like me
and my family. Besides, I m not keen on sugarcoating all the nasty comments, as I do not wish for my
children to get in the habit of whitewashing inconvenient truths. What comes out of the mouth
proceeds from the heart, and this is what defiles, says Jesus (Matt. 5:18). Words matter; words from
bigwigs matter big time. His pre election hate speech, a mere tool, has already provoked a string of
deplorable incidents that would get white supremacists to give each other a fist bump. While I am
aghast, I am not surprised. Knowing who is sitting on the throne, many closet bigots will feel
emboldened to intimidate or hurt anyone that might not look, act, or talk like an American. The
question I have is this: Did my fellow Christians see it coming? Do the law abiding, ... Show more

Child Development Theories
Child Development: An Examination of Three Theories There are a lot of theories regarding child
development. Three of these theories are Bioecological Theory, Social Cognitive Theory and
Information Processing Theory. This paper will discuss these theories by comparing and contrasting
them. The first theory is the Bioecological Theory developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner. This theory is
based on the nature vs. nurture idea. Bronfenbrenner believed development of a child was determined
by the relationships among the environment or environmental systems around them. Within this
environment there are five distinct systems which are related to a child s relationship with the school
environment, family environment and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the inclusion of these three theories among others, into the mental health care field one can see
the similarities of these theories. All three of these theories deal with the environment of a child, the
learning process by which the child was exposed, the development of the cognitive ability of the child
and by the social development of the child. All three theories believe the environment plays an
important part in the cognitive development of children. They each believe it has an impact on how
the child learns and develops. They all agree when there is a disruption of the process such as the child
being subjected to mental or physical neglect or abuse the child can grow to be developmentally
challenged or develop a mental illness as a result. What may be harder to determine is the differences
in these three theories. The outcome of each would seem to be the same. Each theory is based on
cognitive development and the relationship the environment has on that development. What we may
need to look at is how these three theories seem to think this development is attained. With
Brofenbrenner s theory of Bioecological development, he believed a child goes through five distinct
systems and learns their cognitive ability within each system while being exposed to the environment

My Virtual Child Is A Web Based Assignment On Raising A...
My Virtual Child was a web based assignment on raising a child based on real life scenarios and
answering questions that you are expected to answer as a real parent would. My assignment this time
starts with Link being 9 years old. At 9 Link began to consume allot of food. Eating and snacking up
to 9 times a day, I knew this was normal for his age. Most boys at 12 grow about 4 inches in height
and put on 26 pounds every year once they begin puberty (Rogol, Roemmich, Clark, 2002). We did
our best to guide him into a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and nutritious foods along with
encouraging him to continue with the swim and water polo teams. Because he stuck with his sports as
he got older, he received a full ride scholarship right out of high school. He slowly began to show
interest in the girls in his class. He began to hang out with them during recess and lunch, sometimes
even hanging out over the weekends. He however begin telling harsh and disrespectful jokes that
involved the physical changes of the many girls at his school when he was around his male friends.
His father took him aside one evening to speak about how to treat a lady and when it s appropriate to
become more involved with a girl. He made it clear to Link that sexual interest was a real thing and
not to be ashamed of, but is not permitted until he is married to the girl as long as he still lives at
home. At 15, Link began to distance himself from both me and his dad. He would come right home

Essay on The Difficulty of the Topic of Death
The Difficulty of the Topic of Death Children are no strangers to grief. Even infants and toddlers react
to loss. When younger children are shielded from death, silence does not take away their pain; it only
increases the sense of isolation and abandonment. As adults we need to understand their concerns,
their fantasies, their image of death. We need to acknowledge their fears as real they are! Above all,
we must utilize teachable moments to talk about death in reaching out to ... Show more content on

Almost all children will sometime be affected by death of someone they know or love, how well a
child understands and copes with the dying of someone, largely depends on how efficiently parents
explain dying and death to that child. Many adults refrain themselves from discussing this issue
simply because they are unsure of what actually to say. Adults who are scared of this topic will try to
avoid talking to their children about it. The avoidance from parents will only silence the child from the
pain that they feel and will not allow the child an opportunity to successfully grieve for their loss.
Parents who are willing to talk to their children openly and honestly about what has happened open
the door for the child to join the family in the grieving process. Open communication allows the child
to ask unanswered questions and slowly begin the grieving and healing process along with the support
of the family members.
Your mother is very sick and very close to dying, as a parent you are now facing a difficult challenge
of having to explain to your six year old child what is going to happen to grandma. Children at six
year old are in a transitional stage between two cognitive stage of development. Each child needs to be
assessed as an individual. Depending on what the child is able to cognitive grasp, will largely
influence how you approach this discussion. Some six year olds,

Juvenile Justice System And Treatment For Juveniles
In the past, children who were apprehended for committing crimes, were tried in the same courts as
adults. Furthermore, when the children were found guilty, they were given the same punishments as
the adults (Austin, Johnson Gregoriou, 2000). Today, a separate justice system exists for children who
commit crimes. The concept of a distinct justice system and treatment for juveniles has come under
attack in recent years because communities across the nation began to experience dramatically
increased rates of juvenile crime. The increasing incidence and severity of crimes committed by
juveniles led many to question the efficacy of the juvenile court system and to call for a harsher
response to juvenile crime. This has led to more juvenile arrests,

Intellectual Disability Reflection Paper
Intellectual disability is a learning disability and it is a generalized neurodevelopmental disorder that
is characterized by impaired intellectual and adaptive functioning (Schug Fradella, 2015). It includes
below average general intellectual function and a lack of the necessary skills for independent living. It
has also been suggested that intellectual functions such as reasoning, problem solving, abstract
thinking, academic learning, and learning from experience are known to be an issue for individuals
with an intellectual disability (Schug Fradella, 2015). When encountering individuals who have this
disability, there are various characteristics that they will display. Additionally, sometimes there may be
certain crimes such as individuals are more likely to commit as a result of the disorder.
Observation of my Client Upon observing my client who has an intellectual disability, there are
manners in which he thinks, acts, and may feel as a result of his symptoms. There are also certain
levels of severity that range from mild, moderate, severe, and profound. For example, those with mild
mental retardation may have slightly impaired motor skills, but, they are usually able to develop social
skills and adults often can work to support themselves (Prater, 2017). On the other hand, individuals
with severe an intellectual disability will typically require lifelong guidance and assistance with daily
activities and will have poor coordination. Pertaining to my client, he has

Emotional Intelligence During Business Organizations
Different forms of research have been undertaken on the subject of emotional intelligence particularly
its role in business organizations (Van Genderen, 2012, p. 225). These studies have exemplified the
additional connotations of EI through the contribution of respondents. Each study approaches the
subject from a different perspective in the sense that the studies cover different areas of the subject
(Pastor, 2014, p. 992). In particular, the studies underscore the significance of emotional intelligence
in various organizational dynamics such as self efficacy, organizational environment, social
awareness, productivity, organizational citizenship behavior, creativity, demographic, personality,
gender, and organizational outcomes. Also, the studies cover developmental job experience, project
management, work related outcomes, leadership style, professional performance, business
communication, teamwork, self awareness and multicultural competency, organizational culture; socio
emotional intelligence (SEI) and corporations intelligence (Sigmar, Hynes Hill, 2012). Comprehensive
research has been conducted in the field of emotional intelligence that indicates the different elements
of emotional intelligence in an organizational context (Kafetsios, Nezlek, Vassilakou 2012, p. 450).
Therefore, through the evaluation of numerous aspects of emotional intelligence, its relation to
organizational practices has been revealed. However, it is important to undertake further

Privacy And Its Effect On Society
Everyone is entitled to a certain level of privacy in regards to their personal information. However,
there is the constant increase and enhancement in technology and the growing value of information for
use in decision making. Between these two facts, the definition of privacy becomes unclear and allows
people to gather information that one might deem confidential. Privacy has been manipulated in
efforts claiming that as long as it is beneficial in the long run to a wholesome amount of people then it
is allowed. There are multiple forces to maintain personal information and ensure everyone s private
data is not breached. Technology allows culture to evolve by creating solutions to problems by
removing constraints that exist. Every invention or concept is expanded on to create the utmost perfect
solution. Although this process can take decades, or even centuries, to actually develop a proficient
resolution, the end result is what advances society industrially. There are conflicting views, however,
if these advances are beneficially or maliciously affecting society (Coget). New types of data such as
your habits, whereabouts, and daily routines are just a handful of the things that technology can now
track. Samsung and Google are two of the large, renown companies that have encountered legal issues
by tracking such personal information. Samsung was investigated by the US Federal Trade

Swot Analysis of Project Management
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
WHAT IS PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
The word project comes from the Latin word projectum from the Latin verb proicere, to throw
something forwards which in turn comes from pro , which denotes something that precedes the action
of the next part of the word in time (paralleling the Greek πρό) and iacere, to throw . The word project
thus actually originally meant something that comes before anything else happens .
When the English language initially adopted the word, it referred to a plan of something, not to the act
of actually carrying this plan out. Something performed in accordance with a project became known
as an object .
Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing and managing resources ... Show more

The premise of PMI is that the tools and techniques of project management are common even among
the widespread application of projects from the software industry to the construction industry. In 1981,
the PMI Board of Directors authorized the development of what has become A Guide to the Project
Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), containing the standards and guidelines of
practice that are widely used throughout the profession.
The International Project Management Association (IPMA), founded in Europe in 1967, has
undergone a similar development and instituted the IPMA Competence Baseline (ICB). The focus of
the ICB also begins with knowledge as a foundation, and adds considerations about relevant
experience, interpersonal skills, and competence. Both organizations are now participating in the
development of an ISO project management standard.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT APPROACHES:
There are several approaches that can be taken to managing project activities including agile,
interactive, incremental, and phased approaches.
Regardless of the approach employed, careful consideration needs to be given to clarify surrounding
project objectives, goals, and importantly, the roles and responsibilities of all participants and
stakeholders.
A traditional phased approach identifies a sequence of steps to be completed. In the traditional
approach , we can distinguish 5 components of a project (4 stages plus

The yieldco has evolved as an effective means for producers of renewable energy to raise public
capital in a world where the MLP structure is unavailable due to the current definition of qualifying
income.82 Essentially looking to create a synthetic MLP, the producers of the wind or solar energy
producing assets (again, the sponsor) contribute these assets along with the tax credits they generated
into a newly formed corporation.83 The tax credits are a key part of the equation in that they allow the
yieldco to shield tax and thus make tax free distributions.84 In most circumstances, the sponsor has
already completed building these assets and, in many cases, has already entered into long term
contracts for the electricity these assets will produce.85 The result is a corporation owning completed
projects with the ability to produce long term stable yield that will be tax free for a period of time.86
The sponsor will usually retain a voting majority

Why Did Japanese Chose Pulau Ubin As Their Divergent And...
Why did Japanese chose Pulau Ubin as their divergent and went attacking from the West and not East?
How did the Japanese army manage to cross over through sea and river?
All these precise planning made by the Japanese army was the cause of the poor leadership of LT.
GEN Arthur Percival. Percival failed in his judgment and was complacent as he underestimate the
capability of the enemy, thinking that they are less likely able to attack from the North West due to the
tough terrain. This area of the island was mostly mangrove swamp and jungle, broken by rivers and
creeks. The British had confidently predicted that the Japanese would attack from the sea. This
explained why all the defences on Singapore pointed out to sea. It was inconceivable to British
military planners that the island could be attacked any other way least of all, through the jungle and
mangrove swamps of the Malay Peninsula. Therefore, the defence on the North West of Singapore
was weak as the Australian forces deployed there was small and the terrain have prohibited the allies
in their construction of defence obstacles and also reduction in their fields of fire. Besides, he was also
fearfully aware that an attack could come from any corner: land, sea, or air, therefore, he fatally
dispersed his forces.
However, on the other side General Tomoyuki Yamashita was a more competent and mission focused
leader whom practice critical thinking. From aerial reconnaissance, scouts, infiltrators and high

Some Tips on Car Restoration
Some Tips on Car Restoration Whenever someone decides to take the initiative to restore a car, it
requires a serious commitment. I have seen too many people begin work and never finish. The
successful car restorer chooses a car that fits his/her personality and budget, and follows the job
through to the end. One must have a love for the process as well as the product, or the project will be
rushed and end up to be worthless. I learned this tedious process when I was just fourteen years old,
barely able to perform the difficult and sometimes dangerous tasks that are required to complete a
show car. I would not recommend taking the steps I did my first time, so I will outline the best method
I have learned through experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The small block Chevrolet V 8 is the engine to get if you want to keep your options open. There are
endless possibilities for carburation, exhaust, ignition, cooling, and transmission compatibility. These
engines can generate anywhere from 150 horsepower to a stout 800 ponies with the help of nitrous
oxide fuels. For the common enthusiast, an aluminum air intake and a four barrel carburetor combine
to make the perfect upgrade. This is the path I took, increasing the horsepower of my 307 cubic inch V
8 from 200 to around 245. If oil is passing by the pistons into the firing chambers and being exhausted
in the form of blue smoke, rebuilding the engine is a good idea. This process is not as difficult as it
might seem, but there are many specialty tools required like an engine hoist, piston ring pliers, and a
cylinder reamer. It is a good idea to have it done professionally if the tools are not readily available. I
was lucky enough to have the garage space and tools to complete the job myself, but I would only
recommend this if you have a lot of time to spend on your engine. The more time that is spent on the
engine the better the project will be in the end. Once the mechanical systems of the car have been
completed, the interior (passenger compartment) is the most logical step to complete next. The cloth
that lines the roof is called the headliner. If it is in good shape, you are already half done.

Browning believes that the anti Semitic propaganda started by the Nazi s in 1933 coerced the Germans
into killing the Jews. I agree with the fact that propaganda was used to spread the Nazi s message of
hate and may have caused some Germans to detest the Jews. But was it strong enough to have lead
them into a killing frenzy? I don t think that the propaganda was a cause for the killing of Jews.
Goldhagen believes that the German brutality was motivated primarily by racial, eliminationist anti
Semitism (Weinstein 2). So it s not that the Nazis brain washed thousands of Germans, but they just
added fuel to the hatred already present in the German society and gave them a way to justify their
actions.
People argue against Goldhagen s claim, that the German society was anti Semitic, by pointing out
that after World War II, the Germans no longer hated the Jews and made laws to protect them.
Goldhagen rebuts this argument by stating, Germans, after the war, were castigated by the world for
committing the greatest crime in history...The Allies denuded Germany s institutional structures,
replaced the dictatorship with democracy and revamped the education system (Weinstein 2). So after
the war, they realized their fallacies and had to change their views.
Browning claims that the Germans were blindly following orders. Thus the responsibility for the
crimes falls on those who gave the orders. This in and of

Gram-Negative Staining Lab Report
Tiffany O Connor
9/2017
Gram positive and Gram negative stain
Purpose: Staining is done to differentiate between two varieties of bacteria, gram positive and gram
negative.
Theory and Background: Gram positive and Gram negative represents whether a cell wall retains the
primary dye color in the staining process after decolorization. The difference in the structure of the
cell wall determine if this happens.
In Gram positive cells the walls are much thicker than Gram negative. Gram positive cell walls consist
of several layers of peptidoglycan and groups of molecules called teichoic acids. The teichoic acids
line up perpendicular to the many layers of peptidoglycan. Gram negative cells walls have only one
layer of peptidoglycan surrounded by an outer membrane. The outer membrane has porins, or proteins
that act like pores and allow the diffusion of molecules. The outer membrane also has
lipopolysaccharide or endotoxin, This helps maintain the integrity of the wall, it is also a toxin but
only released when the cell disintegrates.

The key to the process is in the second step, this is when iodine is applied to the specimen. The iodine
causes the dye to form crystals that get trapped in the cell walls. In Gram positive cells the walls are
thicker and the layer of dye saturates the cell wall more extensively. The third step in the process is to
apply alcohol which dissolves the lipids in the outer membrane of the Gram negative cells. This
allows for the violet dye to wash out, leaving these cells colorless. Step four is to add a counterstain.
In this case it was safranin. This is done so the Gram negative cells will be seen in a different

Identification And Identification
Identification has two elements most people know and focus on the first; most companies are
notoriously poor at the second. The first Identification element is, not surprisingly, to understand the
characteristics of potential and current customers, as well as their influencers. This means delving into
what needs they have, what motivates those needs, how they want those needs solved, and who else
influences those needs and potential solutions. It also means looking beyond those presenting
symptoms to the underlying problem that needs to be solved (even if the customer themselves doesn t
recognize it). For example, many people will say that the need to own a car when what they actually
need is transportation. And that broader need can be solved in many ways other than owning a car
(bus, bike, taxi, Uber). The second Identification element described by Peppers and Rogers is to, link
information about that customer across the company and throughout the duration of the customer s
relationship with the firm. This is where I would argue that most companies have a long way to go to
be successful. For example, the first step when calling many companies is to enter your customer
ID/Social Security number/whatever on the telephone keypad . . . and then the first thing the person
who (eventually!) answers the phone does is to ask you for the information you just entered! In
addition, from personal experience, I have run into many situations where sales representatives

Obesity Epidemic Summary
Bruce Y. Lee s article entitled How our Health Care System Is Feeding the Obesity Epidemic (2015),
suggests that while it s correct to suggest that personal choices can be blamed for the obesity health
crisis, the health care system in the United States also has to shoulder some of the blame. Lee (2015)
theorizes that failed financial incentives, lack of knowledge and training in medical education and
limitations of the physicians role regarding infrastructure and other policy making decisions have a
direct impact on the obesity and subsequent disease processes that are impacting the nation. Obesity in
America has increased over 20% in the last 35 years and is directly or indirectly the cause of multiple
hundreds of thousands of deaths

Fluoride And Its Effect On Our Lives
Drink 8 glasses of water a day! Everywhere you go, you see and hear this but would you if you knew
what was in it? If you knew would you still drink it? Lots of chemicals are added to get water fresh
and pure. You re told they all have health benefits. But is this true? One chemical isn t as healthy as all
the rest. It s quite harmful. This is fluoride. Fluoride shouldn t be in our waters because fluoride in
high levels can cause dental fluorosis, cavities, and decay. With fluoride in our water, toothpastes,
food and drinks, pesticides and even tea, it is easy to get more then you bodies need. During the
developing stage when you re an infant, and as you become a child, fluoride can have some series
effects that continue on as you grow older. Thus drinking the water wouldn t be a good idea but you
still have to. Along with damaging your teeth fluoride can also affect your cancer rate, your brain, and
heart disease.
For Those Wondering.
Added to toothpastes and mouth washes to help defend your teeth from cavities is fluoride. Fluoride
helps in teeth support and repairs broken surfaces. It works by forming a strong compound with other
chemicals on your teeth so that they ll be less prone to acid attack. The acid comes from the bacteria
that live on sugars we eat. Brushing and flossing your teeth will get rid of the bacteria and rinse them
away but it doesn t help in the long term. Fluoride works to form a compound that is long lasting to
keep your teeth healthy and strong.

Appreciation Of A Novel By Barbara Kruger
Appreciation of art is like the appreciation of a novel. One may read a title of a novel and be amazed
and curios but will never appreciate it fully if the novel is not read from cover to cover. For any piece
of art, one needs to learn about the artist, the story behind the piece and the purpose of the piece. In
addition to learning about the work, as a woman, I find myself leaning more towards the appreciation
of the work of women artists who use their talent and skills to express themselves and/or the causes
they stand for. For this assignment I chose the work pieces of Believe +doubts =sanity by Barbara
Kruger, By the light 2013 by Shinique smith and untitled 2002 by ellen Gallagher.
Belief + Doubt is an exhibition of more than 60 selected works from a promised gift of 100 donated
by collectors David Horvitz and Francie Bishop Good to the NSU Art Museum. with Kruger s untitled
(Belief + Doubt = Sanity) being the inspiration for the exhibition. The exhibition highlights artists that
are included in or were inspired by the Pictures Generation. Divided into themes and sub themes
highlighting painting, video, mixed media, sculpture and a particularly strong section of works by
women addressing race, identity, sexuality and generation the exhibition title Belief + Doubt lends
itself to a multitude of interpretations.
The couple are famously known as leading collectors and advocates of art. Francie Bishop Good s
artwork has been exhibited throughout the United States,

Bravery In The Outsiders
The outsiders. An astonishing book, written by S. E. Hinton in 1967. It shows how teenagers have to
deal with change 50 years ago. And it is still very relatable today, the outsiders show many forms of
bravery, Like physical bravery when people jump in to save someone, moral bravery; to do what s
right. Even if it s unpopular. Moral courage. To do what s morally correct. And this book has some
amazing examples of all of these. Darry is a Greaser and will defend his brothers from the socs that
are not as nice. Darry is an outstanding role model, Darry is brave and shows heroism. Even after
both, his parents are dead. Takes care of his brothers and Ponyboy, sacrificed his own education to
school get a job and also make sure that the council didn t split all apart and into homes. He saved
Ponyboy and Johnny from the fire. Even though he was hurt himself he would do anything in his
power to help his brothers. Even if he can t show it through his own words. He is willing to fight to
protect the ones he cares about, and that is what I can safely consider bravery. ... Show more content

want to go to an event called a rumble this event is a fight against gangs. The socs, versus the greasers.

will still be socs he also shows courage by going to Ponyboys house while ponyboy is sick and tells
Ponyboy to think about his family before he thinks about himself because Ponyboy is trying to believe
two of his friends are not dead. Randy shows courage in these situations because he is trying to help

King Lear Dysfunctional Family
Characteristics of dysfunctional families are found throughout the play King Lear by William
Shakespeare. Dysfunctional means not operating properly, so a dysfunctional family is a family that
does not operate properly. One characteristic of a dysfunctional family is the display of not respecting
others. Another characteristic is a lack of trust. Greed also tarnishes families. These characteristics are
seen in King Lear. Not showing respect for others is a characteristic of a dysfunctional family. When
family members do not trust each other it can be humiliating to those involved. This can ruin
relationships. When Cordelia publicly refuses to go along with Lear s game, Lear sees it as a lack of
respect. In his moment of fury, Lear disowns Cordelia splitting apart the family. Another time this is
seen is when Lear comes to stay with Goneril. Here do you keep a hundred knights and squires, men
so disordered, so debauched and bold, that is our court, infected with their manners, shoes like a
riotous inn, (Shakespeare p.107). Goneril takes this offensively and uses it in her plan to dispose of
Lear. Seeing it as disrespectful she throws him out of her house helping in destroying ... Show more

about Edgar s plan Gloucester does not question the situation, but immediately loses his trust for
Edgar. Edgar feels the same when Edmund tells Edgar that he needs to hide from their father. The
father and son s relationship is destroyed by this outside force. The family is broken apart because

Persuasive Essay On Xylitol
Shocking Cavity Fighters You Didn t Know About
You think you are doing everything right when it comes to your teeth. You brush regularly and limit
sugary foods. Unfortunately, a trip to the dentist reveals cavities. While brushing, flossing and steering
clear of cavity causing foods and beverages are the best line of defense, there are some interesting
second lines of defense you may not know about for children and adults both.
Xylitol
Fight cavities with sugar! That s right, Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol used as a
sweetener. It is used in sugar free gums, candies, mouthwashes and toothpastes. While Xylitol works
great as a sugar substitute, it also works as a cavity fighter. This type of sugar kills the bacteria in the
mouth that causes cavities. Using Xylitol five times of day in the form of gum, candy, mints, or
mouthwashes helps to cleanse your mouth of cavity causing bacteria. Your children will be thrilled
when you ask them to eat candy!
Cheese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not just great for your body and bones, but the casein in cheese may have a protective property
which helps prevent cavities. After we eat cheese, research shows an increase in calcium levels in our
mouths. Increased calcium in the saliva can help re mineralize teeth and prevent cavities.
Wine
Obviously for adults only, wine has chemical components in it which research has shown fights the
bacteria leading to tooth decay and cavities. While these studies are still young, the research is
promising. However, keep in mind red wine is known to stain teeth.
Using a Straw
When you are trying to prevent cavities, you should avoid sugary and acidic drinks altogether. But if
you find you need a soda, drink it through a straw. Studies show sipping sugary drinks through a straw
lessens contact with the teeth and therefore lessens the effect the sugary drink has on teeth.

Janet Jenkins Results
The goal is pay for performance programs is to reward high performing employees and encourage
them to continue the good work. A. Janet Jenkins appears to be a very high performing, valuable
employee. She is well liked and works hard to support her family. Janet is already the highest paid
employee in the group, however, her work ethic and job performance warrant her receiving a slightly
higher salary increase than her co workers. If distributed evenly among the 5 employees, each
employee would receive a raise of $1500. Since she is already the highest compensated employee but
potentially the most valuable worker, I have decided to award Janet a pay increase of $1500. I want to
recognize her for her hard work and encourage her, and I feel her co workers would understand this
allocation as they all agree she is a desirable asset to the company. ... Show more content on

me to grant him a raise. They feel Russell is working hard and I would like to reward his hard work,
while possibly inspiring him to work harder in order to raise his performance rankings to the next
level. C Jack Perkins undoubtedly has had a difficult year and it is understandable that his job
performance would suffer somewhat. I am assuming that Jack was previously a hardworking
employee with average to good evaluation scores prior to his personal tragedies, so I will offer him a

  • 2. Difference Between Digital Reading And Digital Reading Digital Reading vs. Printed Reading For a person who loves to read, I could never imagine myself reading on a screen when it comes to the choice of print or digital reading. Whether it is for research, schoolwork, or just for fun, the articles I find online only encourages me to print them so that I could have a physical copy in my hands. That s when the inseparable feeling occurs to me: I feel more of an attachment between the physical copy of the text and myself. I become so indulged in the text that my surroundings disappear. I can ultimately understand what I m reading and grasp all the book s pearls. Many people who enjoy reading can reminisce with the same feelings that I have experienced. Even many of those who read for the sake of completing a task can admit that there s not much of a strain when comparing print to digital reading. This is why reading from a book is still a necessity in our daily lives: it allows for a better grasp of information, greater memory production, and an enjoyable experience that the reader can always appreciate. When we read from books, our brains can attain more information at a more accurate and faster rate, resulting in greater scores when displaying comprehension skills in the long run. Lauren Singer and Patricia Alexander, scholars of University of Maryland, proves this instance in their experiment, Reading Across Mediums: Effects of Reading Digital and Print Texts on Comprehension and Calibration (2016). • 3. Social Justice And Oppression What is oppression to you? What is fairness? Equality? Equity? Social Justice? Oppression consists of an individual or group limiting another s actions or choices, and exists in many forms, including violence, intimidation, laws, and social exclusion. I believe oppression stems from the belief that a group of individuals or sole individuals are better than, or worth more as humans than others. With this presumption the oppressor constrains the oppressed by limiting their rights, intimidating them as to prevent them from acting in a certain way, or ostracizing them in a social setting. To me fairness requires impartial decision making. In other words a fair decision is made without consideration of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The War Of Mass Destruction In a war of mass destruction and huge weaponry, development of the next big offensive device was on the minds of all the leaders involved. Many of these weapons were designed in secret laboratories under the top scientists and physicists in the world. High emphasis and funding put into these designs, the developments flourished. Some of these weapons were unbelievable successes, making their way to the battlefield and meeting all the expectations set by their imaginative creators. Others, however, did not make it any further than the testing unit. Numerous previously unheard of ideas were presented, several being far ahead of their time. This was the cause for some of the weapons failures. Although, these were launching pads for some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During its final testing, however, the Panjandrum nearly killed a filmer of the event, roaring towards him and shooting rockets in every direction. Due to safety reasons, the project was discontinued after that final test. Barnes Wallis, also British, designed what was called an Earthquake Bomb. This was a bomb that fell from high above the earth, penetrated the ground, exploded, and caused an earthquake. It was used towards the end of the war, on massively reinforced installations, underground caverns, buried tunnels, and bridges. Some of Wallis bombs based on the Earthquake Bomb were used to disable the German V2 factory, bury V3 guns, sink Tirpitz, the battleship, and other previously undamageable targets. Another British bomb designed by Barnes Wallis was the Bouncing Bomb. The concept was a bomb that bounced across water to avoid torpedo nets. It was designed to allow speed and time of detonation to be pre determined. In May of 1943, a Bouncing Bomb was used to explode German dams underwater, having a similar effect to Wallis other design, the earthquake bomb. Also in the family of bombs developed by Great Britain, was the E61 Anthrax Bomb. This was a biological bomblet, sub munition for the E133 cluster bomb. Within in was thirty five milliliters of anthrax spores, or other pathogen,on 30.600 sharp flechettes. The anthrax bombs were relatively lightweight and portable, because even just a scratch would prove lethal. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Besides, I m not keen on sugarcoating all the nasty comments, as I do not wish for my children to get in the habit of whitewashing inconvenient truths. What comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this is what defiles, says Jesus (Matt. 5:18). Words matter; words from bigwigs matter big time. His pre election hate speech, a mere tool, has already provoked a string of deplorable incidents that would get white supremacists to give each other a fist bump. While I am aghast, I am not surprised. Knowing who is sitting on the throne, many closet bigots will feel emboldened to intimidate or hurt anyone that might not look, act, or talk like an American. • 6. Child Development Theories Child Development: An Examination of Three Theories There are a lot of theories regarding child development. Three of these theories are Bioecological Theory, Social Cognitive Theory and Information Processing Theory. This paper will discuss these theories by comparing and contrasting them. The first theory is the Bioecological Theory developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner. This theory is based on the nature vs. nurture idea. Bronfenbrenner believed development of a child was determined by the relationships among the environment or environmental systems around them. Within this environment there are five distinct systems which are related to a child s relationship with the school environment, family environment and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the inclusion of these three theories among others, into the mental health care field one can see the similarities of these theories. All three of these theories deal with the environment of a child, the learning process by which the child was exposed, the development of the cognitive ability of the child and by the social development of the child. All three theories believe the environment plays an important part in the cognitive development of children. They each believe it has an impact on how the child learns and develops. They all agree when there is a disruption of the process such as the child being subjected to mental or physical neglect or abuse the child can grow to be developmentally challenged or develop a mental illness as a result. What may be harder to determine is the differences in these three theories. The outcome of each would seem to be the same. Each theory is based on cognitive development and the relationship the environment has on that development. What we may need to look at is how these three theories seem to think this development is attained. With Brofenbrenner s theory of Bioecological development, he believed a child goes through five distinct systems and learns their cognitive ability within each system while being exposed to the environment which ... My Virtual Child was a web based assignment on raising a child based on real life scenarios and answering questions that you are expected to answer as a real parent would. My assignment this time starts with Link being 9 years old. At 9 Link began to consume allot of food. Eating and snacking up to 9 times a day, I knew this was normal for his age. Most boys at 12 grow about 4 inches in height and put on 26 pounds every year once they begin puberty (Rogol, Roemmich, Clark, 2002). We did our best to guide him into a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and nutritious foods along with encouraging him to continue with the swim and water polo teams. Because he stuck with his sports as he got older, he received a full ride scholarship right out of high school. He slowly began to show interest in the girls in his class. He began to hang out with them during recess and lunch, sometimes even hanging out over the weekends. He however begin telling harsh and disrespectful jokes that involved the physical changes of the many girls at his school when he was around his male friends. His father took him aside one evening to speak about how to treat a lady and when it s appropriate to become more involved with a girl. He made it clear to Link that sexual interest was a real thing and not to be ashamed of, but is not permitted until he is married to the girl as long as he still lives at home. When younger children are shielded from death, silence does not take away their pain; it only increases the sense of isolation and abandonment. Almost all children will sometime be affected by death of someone they know or love, how well a child understands and copes with the dying of someone, largely depends on how efficiently parents explain dying and death to that child. Many adults refrain themselves from discussing this issue simply because they are unsure of what actually to say. Adults who are scared of this topic will try to avoid talking to their children about it. The avoidance from parents will only silence the child from the pain that they feel and will not allow the child an opportunity to successfully grieve for their loss. Parents who are willing to talk to their children openly and honestly about what has happened open the door for the child to join the family in the grieving process. Open communication allows the child to ask unanswered questions and slowly begin the grieving and healing process along with the support of the family members. Your mother is very sick and very close to dying, as a parent you are now facing a difficult challenge of having to explain to your six year old child what is going to happen to grandma. Furthermore, when the children were found guilty, they were given the same punishments as the adults (Austin, Johnson Gregoriou, 2000). Today, a separate justice system exists for children who commit crimes. The concept of a distinct justice system and treatment for juveniles has come under attack in recent years because communities across the nation began to experience dramatically increased rates of juvenile crime. It has also been suggested that intellectual functions such as reasoning, problem solving, abstract thinking, academic learning, and learning from experience are known to be an issue for individuals with an intellectual disability (Schug Fradella, 2015). When encountering individuals who have this disability, there are various characteristics that they will display. Additionally, sometimes there may be certain crimes such as individuals are more likely to commit as a result of the disorder. Observation of my Client Upon observing my client who has an intellectual disability, there are manners in which he thinks, acts, and may feel as a result of his symptoms. There are also certain levels of severity that range from mild, moderate, severe, and profound. For example, those with mild mental retardation may have slightly impaired motor skills, but, they are usually able to develop social skills and adults often can work to support themselves (Prater, 2017). The word project thus actually originally meant something that comes before anything else happens . When the English language initially adopted the word, it referred to a plan of something, not to the act of actually carrying this plan out. In 1981, the PMI Board of Directors authorized the development of what has become A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), containing the standards and guidelines of practice that are widely used throughout the profession. The International Project Management Association (IPMA), founded in Europe in 1967, has undergone a similar development and instituted the IPMA Competence Baseline (ICB). THE INVESTMENT TAX CREDIT, THE PRODUCTION TAX CREDIT AND THE YIELDCO. The yieldco has evolved as an effective means for producers of renewable energy to raise public capital in a world where the MLP structure is unavailable due to the current definition of qualifying income.82 Essentially looking to create a synthetic MLP, the producers of the wind or solar energy producing assets (again, the sponsor) contribute these assets along with the tax credits they generated into a newly formed corporation.83 The tax credits are a key part of the equation in that they allow the yieldco to shield tax and thus make tax free distributions.84 In most circumstances, the sponsor has already completed building these assets and, in many cases, has already entered into long term contracts for the electricity these assets will produce.85 The result is a corporation owning completed projects with the ability to produce long term stable yield that will be tax free for a period of time.86 The sponsor will usually retain a voting majority 82 Felix Mormann, Beyond Tax Credits: Smarter Tax Policy for a Cleaner, More Democratic Energy Future, 31 Yale J. on Reg. 303, 342 (2014). 83 Michael R. How did the Japanese army manage to cross over through sea and river? All these precise planning made by the Japanese army was the cause of the poor leadership of LT. GEN Arthur Percival. Percival failed in his judgment and was complacent as he underestimate the capability of the enemy, thinking that they are less likely able to attack from the North West due to the tough terrain. This area of the island was mostly mangrove swamp and jungle, broken by rivers and creeks. The British had confidently predicted that the Japanese would attack from the sea. This explained why all the defences on Singapore pointed out to sea. It was inconceivable to British military planners that the island could be attacked any other way least of all, through the jungle and mangrove swamps of the Malay Peninsula. Therefore, the defence on the North West of Singapore was weak as the Australian forces deployed there was small and the terrain have prohibited the allies in their construction of defence obstacles and also reduction in their fields of fire. Besides, he was also fearfully aware that an attack could come from any corner: land, sea, or air, therefore, he fatally dispersed his forces. For the common enthusiast, an aluminum air intake and a four barrel carburetor combine to make the perfect upgrade. This is the path I took, increasing the horsepower of my 307 cubic inch V 8 from 200 to around 245. If oil is passing by the pistons into the firing chambers and being exhausted in the form of blue smoke, rebuilding the engine is a good idea. This process is not as difficult as it might seem, but there are many specialty tools required like an engine hoist, piston ring pliers, and a cylinder reamer. It is a good idea to have it done professionally if the tools are not readily available. I was lucky enough to have the garage space and tools to complete the job myself, but I would only recommend this if you have a lot of time to spend on your engine. The more time that is spent on the engine the better the project will be in the end. I agree with the fact that propaganda was used to spread the Nazi s message of hate and may have caused some Germans to detest the Jews. But was it strong enough to have lead them into a killing frenzy? I don t think that the propaganda was a cause for the killing of Jews. Goldhagen believes that the German brutality was motivated primarily by racial, eliminationist anti Semitism (Weinstein 2). So it s not that the Nazis brain washed thousands of Germans, but they just added fuel to the hatred already present in the German society and gave them a way to justify their actions. People argue against Goldhagen s claim, that the German society was anti Semitic, by pointing out that after World War II, the Germans no longer hated the Jews and made laws to protect them. There are a large number of suppliers who face volatilities in demand and supply, not good distribution, large customs and excise duties, and hence less margins. This means that bargaining power for suppliers is less and hence the buyers can pick the supplier which gives them the lowest price. With the proliferation of companies setting up the manufacturing plants in India, and the GOI also assisting their ventures, the bargaining power of suppliers is definitely low to medium. Product differentiation is becoming more and more difficult in the electronics industry as the room for imitability is also huge with the coming of Chinese suppliers. • 24. Josh Sanburn s Article Making Trains Run On Time In his article Making Trains Run on Time (Time Magazine, 10 April, 2017, pp. 32 34), Josh Sanburn tells us about the problem of congested train traffic in Chicago. Sanburn says that costly delays have been seen elsewhere because of the problems in Chicago, as any trains travelling from coast to coast have to go through the city. Six of the seven biggest railroad companies use these railroads, with one thousand and three hundred trains traveling through the city a day. Sanburn points out that the regions commuter rail systems compete for limited track space with the nation s largest lines. At morning and evening rush hours the commuter trains have the right of way, thanks to a deal between the city and the railroads, while freight trains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Gram-Negative Staining Lab Report Tiffany O Connor 9/2017 Gram positive and Gram negative stain Purpose: Staining is done to differentiate between two varieties of bacteria, gram positive and gram negative. Theory and Background: Gram positive and Gram negative represents whether a cell wall retains the primary dye color in the staining process after decolorization. The difference in the structure of the cell wall determine if this happens. In Gram positive cells the walls are much thicker than Gram negative. Gram positive cell walls consist of several layers of peptidoglycan and groups of molecules called teichoic acids. The teichoic acids line up perpendicular to the many layers of peptidoglycan. Gram negative cells walls have only one layer of peptidoglycan surrounded by an outer membrane. The outer membrane has porins, or proteins that act like pores and allow the diffusion of molecules. The outer membrane also has lipopolysaccharide or endotoxin, This helps maintain the integrity of the wall, it is also a toxin but only released when the cell disintegrates. Gram positive cell wall: Gram Negative cell wall: http://textbookofbacteriology.net/structure_5.html=positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The key to the process is in the second step, this is when iodine is applied to the specimen. The iodine causes the dye to form crystals that get trapped in the cell walls. In Gram positive cells the walls are thicker and the layer of dye saturates the cell wall more extensively. The third step in the process is to apply alcohol which dissolves the lipids in the outer membrane of the Gram negative cells. This allows for the violet dye to wash out, leaving these cells colorless. Step four is to add a counterstain. In this case it was safranin. This is done so the Gram negative cells will be seen in a different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Identification And Identification Identification has two elements most people know and focus on the first; most companies are notoriously poor at the second. The first Identification element is, not surprisingly, to understand the characteristics of potential and current customers, as well as their influencers. This means delving into what needs they have, what motivates those needs, how they want those needs solved, and who else influences those needs and potential solutions. It also means looking beyond those presenting symptoms to the underlying problem that needs to be solved (even if the customer themselves doesn t recognize it). For example, many people will say that the need to own a car when what they actually need is transportation. And that broader need can be solved in many ways other than owning a car (bus, bike, taxi, Uber). The second Identification element described by Peppers and Rogers is to, link information about that customer across the company and throughout the duration of the customer s relationship with the firm. This is where I would argue that most companies have a long way to go to be successful. For example, the first step when calling many companies is to enter your customer ID/Social Security number/whatever on the telephone keypad . . . and then the first thing the person who (eventually!) answers the phone does is to ask you for the information you just entered! In addition, from personal experience, I have run into many situations where sales representatives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Obesity Epidemic Summary Bruce Y. Lee s article entitled How our Health Care System Is Feeding the Obesity Epidemic (2015), suggests that while it s correct to suggest that personal choices can be blamed for the obesity health crisis, the health care system in the United States also has to shoulder some of the blame. Lee (2015) theorizes that failed financial incentives, lack of knowledge and training in medical education and limitations of the physicians role regarding infrastructure and other policy making decisions have a direct impact on the obesity and subsequent disease processes that are impacting the nation. Obesity in America has increased over 20% in the last 35 years and is directly or indirectly the cause of multiple hundreds of thousands of deaths ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Fluoride And Its Effect On Our Lives Drink 8 glasses of water a day! Everywhere you go, you see and hear this but would you if you knew what was in it? If you knew would you still drink it? Lots of chemicals are added to get water fresh and pure. You re told they all have health benefits. But is this true? One chemical isn t as healthy as all the rest. It s quite harmful. This is fluoride. Fluoride shouldn t be in our waters because fluoride in high levels can cause dental fluorosis, cavities, and decay. With fluoride in our water, toothpastes, food and drinks, pesticides and even tea, it is easy to get more then you bodies need. During the developing stage when you re an infant, and as you become a child, fluoride can have some series effects that continue on as you grow older. Thus drinking the water wouldn t be a good idea but you still have to. Along with damaging your teeth fluoride can also affect your cancer rate, your brain, and heart disease. For Those Wondering. Added to toothpastes and mouth washes to help defend your teeth from cavities is fluoride. Fluoride helps in teeth support and repairs broken surfaces. It works by forming a strong compound with other chemicals on your teeth so that they ll be less prone to acid attack. The acid comes from the bacteria that live on sugars we eat. Brushing and flossing your teeth will get rid of the bacteria and rinse them away but it doesn t help in the long term. Fluoride works to form a compound that is long lasting to keep your teeth healthy and strong. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Appreciation Of A Novel By Barbara Kruger Appreciation of art is like the appreciation of a novel. One may read a title of a novel and be amazed and curios but will never appreciate it fully if the novel is not read from cover to cover. For any piece of art, one needs to learn about the artist, the story behind the piece and the purpose of the piece. In addition to learning about the work, as a woman, I find myself leaning more towards the appreciation of the work of women artists who use their talent and skills to express themselves and/or the causes they stand for. For this assignment I chose the work pieces of Believe +doubts =sanity by Barbara Kruger, By the light 2013 by Shinique smith and untitled 2002 by ellen Gallagher. Belief + Doubt is an exhibition of more than 60 selected works from a promised gift of 100 donated by collectors David Horvitz and Francie Bishop Good to the NSU Art Museum. with Kruger s untitled (Belief + Doubt = Sanity) being the inspiration for the exhibition. The exhibition highlights artists that are included in or were inspired by the Pictures Generation. Divided into themes and sub themes highlighting painting, video, mixed media, sculpture and a particularly strong section of works by women addressing race, identity, sexuality and generation the exhibition title Belief + Doubt lends itself to a multitude of interpretations. The couple are famously known as leading collectors and advocates of art. Francie Bishop Good s artwork has been exhibited throughout the United States, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Bravery In The Outsiders The outsiders. An astonishing book, written by S. E. Hinton in 1967. It shows how teenagers have to deal with change 50 years ago. And it is still very relatable today, the outsiders show many forms of bravery, Like physical bravery when people jump in to save someone, moral bravery; to do what s right. Even if it s unpopular. Moral courage. To do what s morally correct. And this book has some amazing examples of all of these. Darry is a Greaser and will defend his brothers from the socs that are not as nice. Darry is an outstanding role model, Darry is brave and shows heroism. Even after both, his parents are dead. Takes care of his brothers and Ponyboy, sacrificed his own education to school get a job and also make sure that the council didn t split all apart and into homes. He saved Ponyboy and Johnny from the fire. Even though he was hurt himself he would do anything in his power to help his brothers. Even if he can t show it through his own words. • 32. King Lear Dysfunctional Family Characteristics of dysfunctional families are found throughout the play King Lear by William Shakespeare. Dysfunctional means not operating properly, so a dysfunctional family is a family that does not operate properly. One characteristic of a dysfunctional family is the display of not respecting others. Another characteristic is a lack of trust. Greed also tarnishes families. These characteristics are seen in King Lear. Not showing respect for others is a characteristic of a dysfunctional family. When family members do not trust each other it can be humiliating to those involved. This can ruin relationships. When Cordelia publicly refuses to go along with Lear s game, Lear sees it as a lack of respect. In his moment of fury, Lear disowns Cordelia splitting apart the family. Another time this is seen is when Lear comes to stay with Goneril. Here do you keep a hundred knights and squires, men so disordered, so debauched and bold, that is our court, infected with their manners, shoes like a riotous inn, (Shakespeare p.107). Unfortunately, a trip to the dentist reveals cavities. While brushing, flossing and steering clear of cavity causing foods and beverages are the best line of defense, there are some interesting second lines of defense you may not know about for children and adults both. Xylitol Fight cavities with sugar! That s right, Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol used as a sweetener. It is used in sugar free gums, candies, mouthwashes and toothpastes. While Xylitol works great as a sugar substitute, it also works as a cavity fighter. This type of sugar kills the bacteria in the mouth that causes cavities.
