Customer Based Brand Equity for Global Brands: A Multinational Approach
Eda Atilgan Serkan Akinci Safak Aksoy Erdener Kaynak
ABSTRACT. Focusing on the dimensions and measurement, this study is based on the concept of
brand equity for global brands with empirical evidence from three economically and culturally
dissimilar countries USA, Turkey, and Russia. The brand equity for global brands can be measured
under four basic dimensions: perceived quality, brand loyalty, brand associations, and brand trust.
Emergence of brand trust as a new dimension instead of brand awareness complies ... Show more

Although it is apparent that customer based brand equity has multiple dimensions, there is no general
agreement in current marketing literature as to the nature and content of these dimensions. Previous
research has proposed two (e.g., Faircloth, Capella, Alford, 2001; Keller, 1993), three (e.g., Han
Collins, 2002; Netemeyer et al., 2004), four (e.g., Aaker, 1991; Yoo et al., 2000), five (e.g., Lassar,
Mittal, Sharma, 1995), and even eight (e.g., Vazquez, Del Rio, Iglesias, 2002) dimensions. However,
many of these brand equity dimensions have not been systematically measured or validated within a
nomological framework (Netemeyer et al., 2004). For example, the existence and function of trust
have not been fully investigated within the context of brand equity. On the globalization front,
branding has received increasing attention from marketing academicians. The two prominent reasons
for this are increased cross border population mobility and electronic mobility, both of which
contributed to faster transfer of ideas and a global convergence in consumer tastes and values (Quelch,
1999). Global brands, as defined by Aaker and Joachimsthaler (1999), are those brands whose
positioning, advertising strategy, personality, look, and feel are in most respects the same from one
country to another. Reviewing the top 10 global brands, Quelch identified

Agenda Setting Vs Framing Theory
In today s society, media is everywhere and it s not something we can easily avoid. We use the media
for almost everything, we use it to form our own opinions on certain topics, to get information about
what s going on in our communities and the world, and lately, for a lot of political information. We are
constantly surrounded by it from our televisions, the news, internet, and all the information we can
access on our phones and computers. There are many theories that have been created to explain how
the media influences us and shapes the way we get information. Two of the theories that will be
discussed in this paper are agenda setting and framing. These are two similar theories that we will
look at and how they apply in the media to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I personally believe that framing is more compelling than agenda setting. I feel as though agenda
setting is a much more cut and dry theory compared to framing. Framing is more complex and seems
to be understood differently by lots of people. Throughout my research I was reading that not a lot of
people agree with each other on what framing is or that the way it is used in the media has lots of
different explanations. I also believe that framing has a larger effect on people than agenda setting
does. The way I have interpreted framing throughout research is that it deals a lot more with a person s
morals and values than agenda setting does. Agenda setting is more, this is what you see most often so
it s what you re going to assume most often, whereas with framing it s telling you how to think instead
of only what to think. The reason I chose the poll about immigration for an example of framing is
because I feel as though the topic of immigration and whether or not people think it s a negative thing
relies more on people s values and those values can easily be shaped by how the media is trying to
persuade people to think that immigrants are bad and a problem, especially when our own president
has such deep and negative ideals towards them. Agenda setting and framing are very similar but I just
feel as though framing has more depth and a larger effect and influence on the

Critical Review Of The Gunpowder Factory
This critical review examines The former Gunpowder Factory in Dachau a concentration camp for
Political Prisoners , Dachauer Volksblatt. 6th April 1933. This is a primary source in the form of a
speech, directly from Heinrich Himmler himself during a press conference on the 20th March. This
was first published in German, since it was aimed at the German citizens however it was later
translated by Sally Winkle. This speech was given 2 months after Hitler became Chancellor of
Germany, possibly showing he had the intention of getting rid of his hatred towards certain groups
before he actually came into power. His opinions where clearly expressed in Mein Kampf where
Hitler made his opinions somewhat clear on what he thought about inferior races.
Dachau was said to be home to, in the words of Heinrich Himmler, Political prisoners , as well as all
communist functionaries and the Reichsbanner (social democratic party, around during the Weimar
Republic) and the Marxist functionaries. These where seen to be people who threatened the state.
Hitler would have wanted to eliminate and threats to his rise to power, so sending them to a
concentration camp seemed right. However, over time other selections of people where sent here, like
Jehovah s witnesses, romas, homosexuals as well as asocial and repeat criminals. It was after the
Kristallnacht that many Jews would arrive here. This information was retrieved from the USA
holocaust memorial museum and has been deemed a reliable

Essay about Bulimia
Bulimia nervosa, more commonly known simply as bulimia or binge and purge disorder, is an eating
disorder that affects 1 in 4 college aged women in America, or 1 in 10,000 Americans. The most
common misconception concerning bulimia is that it is simply a physical or mental problem. Many
people do not understand that bulimia is a disease that affects both the mind and the body, and in its
course can destroy both aspects of the diseased individual. Bulimia affects a variety of different
people, but generally the victims will fall tend to fall into certain categories. Those at highest
vulnerability to this disease are young adult females, ages 12 to 18. The disease, however, can start as
early as elementary school, or much later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bulimics usually weigh themselves frequently, even several times daily. Bulimics also suffer from an
emotional cycle of guilt, pain, depression, and highs. They feel pride when they succeed in starving
themselves; guilt, pain, and depression when they eat; and the high usually follows a purge. The cycle
becomes an emotional outlet. Bulimics are often perfectionists, those who feel they have severe
standards to live up to. Those who feel that they cannot control their lives may turn to eating disorders
as a means to feel in control of some aspect of themselves. They tend to have an intense fear of
becoming a failure, and letting others down. Many doctors and members of society feel that society,
with its media fed images of beauty and perfection, is responsible for the disease. Food becomes a
night and day obsession, causing them to withdraw from their families, as well as school and social
lives. Bulimics will often refuse to eat in front of other people, and will find any sort of excuse to
avoid meals in groups. They may sneak food for bingeing when no one else is around. Bulimics may
sometimes run to the bathroom following any form of food intake. The disease is habit forming.
Bulimia is a disease that affects the entire body, as well. The first marks are often seen on the fingers
and hands of the diseased individual. They will usually have small cuts, calluses,

Malware Problem Analysis Paper
Problem
Malware, as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, refers to a program that is
covertly inserted into another program with the intent to destroy data, run destructive or intrusive
programs, or otherwise compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the victim s data,
applications or operating system. (M. K., 2013) This is a threat to all companies with any type of
internet access and/or electronic information storage. That is currently a large number of both small
and big businesses.
Some important terms to take into account here is confidentiality, integrity and availability. These
terms are known as CIA and are the core principles of information security. Malware will affect all
three indefinitely if left unchecked. This will not only hurt a company s revenue but will potentially
also hurt their reputation if wide scale enough. Malware is, by Gulf South Tech Solutions, considered
to be the biggest threat to a business. With over 5,000 new malware attacks every day, the average
time to resolve being over 25 days, the average financial cost being $3 million, and over 60% of the
websites that infect a computer being legitimate sites that were compromised makes defense of
paramount importance now more than ever. (Gulf South Technology Solutions, 2015)
Solution
The fix to the Malware problem is the implementation of the NIST SP 800 83 regulation. It covers all
aspects of malware handling and will assist in mitigating the

Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IEP)
Students with intellectual disabilities present a distinctive educational challenge and need assistance
achieving their academic needs (Luckasson Schalock, 2013). To support students to meet their
academic needs, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires each student with an
intellectual disability to have an individualized education program (Gartin Murdick, 2005). During
this development, the individualized education program (IEP) team must consider assistive technology
(AT) during the drafting of each student s IEP. Assistive technology in special education services is
identified as a potential effective intervention strategy to aid students to achieve their educational

Impact Of Prematurity On Development Essay example
Impact of Premature Birth on Development
Years ago, premature birth almost always meant death for the baby. Today, however, we have the
technology to nurture these infants development, and many of them survive to lead normal, healthy
lives. Although, very premature infants (that is, those born before about the fifth month) are still not
likely to survive, many born at five months and older will thrive. Some preterm babies, however, do
have many obstacles to overcome. There are a variety of medical problems that affect some of them,
they may have impaired mental or physical conditions, and they may be looked upon by others in their
environment as slow, or they might be treated differently because they were ... Show more content on

This still puts them in the same IQ range as their full term peers. They are more likely to need special
education classes later in life, though, and more likely to have to repeat a grade in school. This is most
likely because some premature infants have been shown to have some cognitive impairment when
compared to full term infants of the same age. Their memories are not as good, and their information
processing speed is significantly lower.
There have been many studies performed that compare the cognitive performance of preterm infants
with full term infants. One study in particular, performed by Susan A. Rose and Judith F. Feldman,
tested the memory and the processing speed of preterm children versus full term children at the age of
eleven. They used the Colorado Specific Abilities Test, which is a comparison of eight paper and
pencil tasks the child must perform. This test showed the degree of these four abilities: memory,
perceptual speed, spatial ability, and verbal ability. They also used the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT)
which is a detailed exam of memory and speed. This test shows us exactly what aspects of speed and
memory it is that pre and full term children differ in, and how much this difference actually affects
them. It is comprised of a set of basic cognitive tasks used to study the individual elements of

The Destruction And Excavation Of Pompeii

Pompeii was a City in Italy which overall has a great significance in Roman culture. Pompeii was not
famous for its rise or its rule but its destruction. Pompeii was a picture perfect world full of culture
and rich history, It was destroyed in AD 79 by a Volcanic eruption from Mount Vesuvius. It was a
symbol of Roman culture and has a great influence on the future even though it existed so long ago.
Life in Pompeii was over all serene, in the Italian countryside of Campania. The city was fairly large
and was about five miles southeast of base of Mount Vesuvius. ( Gracco, Tiberio. Welcome to Ancient

The town itself had many temples devoted to their gods. The city even had an amphitheatre, which is
the oldest of its kind dating back to 80 BC. The people of Pompeii had a serene living condition and

The destruction of Pompeii came about when Mount Vesuvius erupted on August 24 AD 79. This
eruption was not your stereotypical eruption. The mountain exploded in a long smoldering burst of
pumice ash and rock. The eruption covered Pompeii and the neighboring city of Herculaneum in over
thirteen feet of pumice and ash, burning and destroying almost all of the city s. The eruption was said
to last over twenty four hours. Turning day to night with clouds of dust and ash. ¨100 miles per hour
surge of superheated poison gas and pulverized rock poured down the side of the mountain and
swallowed everything and everyone in its path. (¨History.com Staff. Pompeii. History.com.) Around
16,000 people died in the eruption. ( Mount Vesuvius Italy. ) When Mount Vesuvius erupted many
people were unprepared, just standing and watching the volcano until the eruption was on top of them.
Many people thought it was just a tremor or earthquake before the mountain exploded and it was too
late. Many people did try and escape. Escaping by boat was impossible, the only real way to escape
was to go south away from the volcano. There was mass panic in the heart of the city and most people
didn t get out in time. ¨Though my shocked

Immersion Reflection Paper
A recent experience of mine that has made a significant impact on who I am today would be my
joining of open immersion. Immersion has always been a tradition of my school, Assumption College,
for many years. This became one of many reasons why I decided that I d like to take part of this
tradition before I graduate and leave my more than a decade long alma mater. I also chose to volunteer
because I saw this as a good opportunity to render community service and fulfill my social
responsibility as a student in the Assumption community.
However, I had underestimated how this journey would impact my own identity. I entered this odyssey
without much prior knowledge on what would happen and what exactly we would be doing. The
immersion took place in the small community in Barrio Obrero, Iloilo. Our volunteer group,
consisting of only five high school students and a couple of teacher chaperones, was based in a public
learning center called the Assumption Socio Educational Center (ASEC), which was founded by the
Assumption community many years ago. Our first activity during our immersion was ... Show more

One of our assigned tasks was to repaint the playground. Our first thoughts were that this would be

ve done our part for this task, we were assigned to help out in the school s bookstore, wherein we
covered notebooks in plastic wrap. It seemed to be a menial task, but it was an enjoyable afternoon.
We were able to interact with the bookstore workers there and learn more about the community while
we did the task. The workers, like many of the other members of their community, lived very simple
lives, and yet seemed to be happy and content with what they have and what they

Difference Between The Adlerian Approach And...
The main difference between the Adlerian approach and the Psychoanalytic approach deals with the
stance the therapist takes. In the Psychoanalytic approach , the therapist sits back and gives the client
the right to express himself without any resistance. Since transference is a big issue with this
approach, and the client can develop projections toward the therapist(Corey, 2013, pg. 481), so it is
important for the therapist to remain neutral. Transference interpretation helps our clients by enabling
them to see broad patterns of fantasies, interactions and object relations that they had never put
together before(Howes, 2010). This approach goes against the philosophy of counseling because the
therapist take a back seat, while the client takes the wheel and counseling should be more about an
integrative approach. On the other hand the Psychoanalytic approach is based on mutual respect and
the importance of goals. Focus is on identifying, exploring and disclosing mistaken goals and faulty
assumptions within the persons lifestyle(Corey, 2013, pg. 481), and this approach shows the
importance of a therapist who uses more guidance to identify those objectives. The main differences
between Existential and Person Centered approach would have to be that the Existential approach
focuses on client reflecting on their life while the Person Centered approach shows us that people are
self directed and don t necessarily needs a counselor to make positive changes in order to achieve

Aphorisms In The Importance Of Being Earnest
One of Oscar Wilde s most notable works, The Importance of Being Earnest, showcases Wilde s
bizarre and arguably backwards take on the literary device known as an aphorism. Most commonly,
aphorisms are used in a didactic context and tend to reflect some form of ethical guideline or universal
truth. It is easy to write off Wilde s utilization of the device as ironic, as the aphorisms used in the play
demonstrate values that are diametrically opposed to those we recognize in the real world; however,
due to the aforementioned fact that aphorisms are typically meant to point out a universal truth, it can
be argued that Wilde s use of the device is quite proper in the sense that the specific universe created
in the work just happens to be different

Plate Tectonics Evolve
How Did the Theory of Plate Tectonics Evolve? The theory of plate tectonics evolved out of the
theory of continental drift. Alfred Wegener originally proposed the theory that continents move over
time in 1912 after observing that many coastlines on opposite sides of the ocean appeared to match up
like puzzle pieces. He formed the theory of continental drift based on evidence, such as the fact that
fossils of the same species of plant or land animals are found across oceans, on different continents.
Unfortunately, Wegener s theory was largely ignored in part because it did not explain how or why the
continents moved. Over the next 50 years, however, scientists continued to collect evidence that
suggested he may have been right. For example,

Salivary Amylase And Phosphorylase
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the enzyme activity for salivary amylase and
phosphorylase by placing them under different conditions of temperature and enzyme concentration.
An enzyme is a protein that acts as a catalyst to form reaction, and see the activity of the specific
enzyme (Knowles, 1991). One part of the enzyme, salivary amylase, is that alpha amylase is in the
saliva of most animals because this enzyme breaks down starch (Jacobsen, Melvaer, Hensten
Pettersen, 1972). In the presence of starch, this enzyme is present in saliva, but is not present when
there is no starch present (Jacobsen, Melvaer, Hensten Pettersen, 1972). The conditions for salivary
amylase to have a reaction with starch would change in temperature and enzyme concentration, as
well as, monitoring the pH levels (Jacobsen, Melvaer, Hensten Pettersen, 1972). Salivary amylase is
an enzyme is human saliva that helps in digestion of specific substrates, such as starch (Hudman,
Friend, Hartman, Ashton, Catron, 1957). It breaks down starch molecules by splitting maltose from
the non reducing end of a gluten molecule (Jacobsen, Melvaer, Hensten Pettersen, 1972).
Phosphorylase acts on starch and glycogen by breaking it down by breaking the glucose bonds and
taking a glucose molecule off of the structure (Ball, Vialle, Alonso Casajus, Duavillee, Munoz, Baroja
Fernandez, Moran Zorzano, Eydallin, Pozueta Romero, 2006). The conditions for the reaction of

The Failure Of The Insurrectionary Movement
The Failure of the Insurrectionary Movement, 1837 1839
Canada has always been under a capitalist ruling regime for many years. The Canadian state, even as a
colony of both England and France, went through mercantilist monopolistic practices that affected the
lower working classes. During this period, the Church was powerful and was involved in the
formulation of power. The state was fully supported by the Church and gained its wealth through
illegal means with major benefits going to the aboriginal Canadian citizens. The rebellion or uprising
was aimed at fighting capitalist regime introduced by foreigners, addressing high poverty levels and
ensuring equitable distribution of resources among the Canadian citizens. This paper will explore the
sharing of power between the citizens, Church, and government during the insurrectionary movement.
The author suggests that the Canadian natives are suffering in many ways in the hands of foreigners.
The capitalist regime is taking everything from the natives and suffer huge monetary loss due to the
high taxes. The natives cry foul of intruders who have taken control of everything including robbing
the exchequer and carrying their proceeds to their home countries. Imperialism is the main argument
that the author tries to bring out in this case. The foreigners exploited Canada s natural resources at the
expense of the local citizens. Local citizens provided cheap labor and products to Europeans.
The author claims that the natives were

Medication Errors And The Efficiency Of Medication...
McComas, Riingenm and Kim (2014), conducted a study that investigated the occurrence of
medication errors and the efficiency of medication administration following the implementing an
eMAR system. The study was conducted in an appropriate setting and all observed nurses volunteered
for the study. Before implementing the eMARs mandatory class were provided and nurses were
evaluated for competency. Data was collected by observation and nurses were randomly followed
throughout a medication pass. Collected data consisted of medication errors, distractions during
medication pass and amount of time spent administering medications.
The results of this study was that the percentage of medication errors decreased following the
implementation of eMARs. Although medication errors were decreased, the authors found that the
eMAR system decreased efficiency and disturbed workflow. The authors state that factors such as
missing medications, preparing medication at the bedside, and distractions contributed to this and are
factors that can be improved. The author s identified the presence of several limitation in the study.
The use of one individual to collect data created a possibility of bias and the observation of nurses
may have affected the behaviors of the nurse. Also, the authors state that the study was not a cause and
effect study and was only conducted on one unit which decreased the generalizability of the study.

designer in history has exceeded either Chanel s celebrity or her legend. She was a fiercely
independent lover of dukes, industrialists, and artists; a confidante of many of the creative geniuses of

Chanel both embodied, and in many ways dictated, the revolution in women s fashion that occurred in
the 1920s.
Connections. Chanel s influence was in part the result of the personal and social contacts she made in
postwar Europe. In 1917 she became a protégée of the wealthy, beautiful Misia Edwards later Misia
Sert who introduced her to the circle of avant garde writers and artists with whom Edwards associated.
During the 1920s Chanel herself hosted parties for these intellectuals as well as for the wealthiest and
best known members of European and American society. In 1924 she designed the costumes for
Diaghilev s ballet Train Bleu, for which Cocteau had written the story and Picasso had designed sets.
During the 1920s and early 1930s Chanel also formed intense but generally brief liaisons with
fascinating men: Russian Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, who had participated in the assassination of
the mad Russian monk Rasputin; Hugh Richard Arthur Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, among the
wealthiest men in England; brooding French poet Pierre Revedy; and French artist Paul Iribe. Each of
these men seems to have proposed marriage, butChanel always protective of her independence
declined. Most biographers agree, however, that her often repeated retort to the duke of Westminster s

individually first is JIT is a continuous process and it forces problem by reduced inventory. With this
theory only material are called when they are needed according to the demand. The JIT is also broken
down in to five segments which are JIT Partnerships which exist when a supplier and a purchaser
work together with open communication and a target of removing waste and lowering down the cost.
The second is JIT layouts which is designed to reduce the movements. JIT materials layout place
material directly where they are needed. The third is JIT inventory which works to overcome any

both within the organization and to outside suppliers. By being able to utilize these methods Nissan
would able to overhaul their process and work to create a JIT environment to utilize all methods and
start saving tremendous amount of overhead and expenditures. Like other theories there are some
advantages and disadvantages of JIT. Advantages include efficient replenishment systems, more free

Organizations could select one or more of these tests, but they have to be careful of the reliability and
validity of all the results. Some results might be different depending on the environment of the testing
area, or the relationship between the applicants and their previous employer/manager.
Many organizations depend only on the result of the test without taking the reliability and validity into
considerations, which that might lead to in hiring the wrong people. What is the difference between
reliability and validity? Reliability is the consistency and the stability of a selection measurement and
validity is the degree to which a measure predicts on the job performance (Green, 2003). For instance,
the consistency of a test is made for to measure reliability and what kind of method to use to test the
candidate is to measure validity. Since reliability and validity are both important aspects in the

Native American Imperialism
Some historical figures argue that a people stripped of its native culture is a people stripped of its soul
and identity. How might people be stripped of their culture? Imperialism and colonization are the main
argued ways a people are ripped from their culture. This is partly true. If a people were stripped
completely of their culture, then they would lose the soul and identity of their people, but successful
imperialism and colonization does not mean that the culture will automatically go away. One can see
this in Chinua Achebe s book Things Fall Apart, through the history of dream catchers, the
colonization of Hawaii, and after British control in India.

Great Britain colonized a lot of land, but a great example can be found in their conquest of India. India
was a great place for Britain to take over because of the of the great resources that it had to offer. If
you look closely, or give a general glance, at India, you can tell that British culture hardly influenced
the one they already had. A main difference you can see is the clothing that Indians wear. Indian
clothing is closely identified with the colorful silk saris worn by many of the country s women. The
traditional clothing for men is the dhoti, an unstitched piece of cloth that is tied around the waist and
legs. Men also wear a kurta, a loose shirt that is worn about knee length ( Indian Culture: Traditions

it said that, India s culture is among the world s oldest; civilization in India began about 4,500 years

The Role Of Evolution In A Combat Environment
The need to evolve in a combat environment is not a new concept and seems that as technology
advances, the need to race to the forefront becomes ever more critical. Over the past few decades to
include every day of the United States combat operations in Afghanistan, the 160TH Special
Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR)has met the needs of the warfighter and also been brutally
made aware of the need to evolve people, equipment and tactics. Starting Operation Enduring

Transition Planning Research Paper
Transition services are intended to prepare students to move from the world of school to the world of
adulthood. Transition planning begins during high school at the latest.
IDEA requires that transition planning start by the time the student reaches age 16, However transition
planning may start earlier if the IEP team decides it would be appropriate to do so
Transition planning takes place as part of developing the student s Individualized Education Program
(IEP).The IEP team (which includes the student and the parents) develops the transition plan. The
student must be invited to any IEP meeting where postsecondary goals and transition services needed
to reach those goals will be considered. In transition planning, the IEP team considers areas

Reality And Malthus Predictions Of Population
Reality and Malthus Predictions of Population
Imagine if Earth s population was so large that all of the world s resources had to be exhausted to their
last limits just to provide food for only half of the population. That is exactly what 17th century
demographer Thomas Malthus envisioned when he predicted how the world s population would affect
the world s resources. In An Essay on the Principle of Population, published in the late 18th century,
Malthus expressed many controversial predictions in which he argued that the increase of resources
was arithmetic while the increase in population was exponential; thus, he concluded that the
population would greatly outpace the amount of resource growth on Earth. Being that Malthus made
his predictions during the industrial revolution (which was when North America and Europe reached
stage two of the demographic transition), many critics of his theory claim that Malthus calculations
were inaccurate because he did not consider technological advances in relation to food production.
Also, Malthus critics believe that he overestimated population increase (mainly because of the time
period he lived in) and (adverb) underestimated the production rate of resources. Though both sides of
the debate are plausible, it is evident that Malthus views were incorrect because modern day statistics
regarding population and food production do not support his claims. Therefore, because of Malthus
uncircumspect approach when he predicted population

Why I Chose To Go To College Essay
Why did you choose to come to Penta? We all chose Penta for various reasons, whether it was to get
away from our homeschool or start a career. Some of us wanted to go to Penta to make it easier to go
to college and get a decent paying job. I am Tyler Mack a student in Penta s Information Technologies
Academy program. In the essay, I will talk about why I chose to come to Penta, my goals, and my
plans for the future. I chose to come to Penta for several reasons. First, I didn t like my homeschool, it
wasn t challenging enough for me and there was little to do in terms of any careers that I had an
interest in. My homeschool also had more than its fair share of drug addicts and athletes, the ladder of
which the school showed more preference to than anyone else and let them get away with things like
bullying which other students would not be able to get away with. As for my program choice, I chose
ITA because it was a career field that I have been interested in since I was about fourteen. I also chose
ITA for the fact that the certifications offered could help me land a decent IT job right out of high
school. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

year in the cybersecurity program in ITA, TestOut Network Pro and Security Pro, as well as CompTIA

can definitely say was accomplished. My final and ongoing goal were to learn more about my career

Essay On High School Accomplishments
The start of my high school career was an enormous accomplishment for me. Even if I had a lot of
different feelings overwhelming me. One of those feelings was fear, I was terrified to be in high
school. First off the school seemed like a whole new world, plus it was about 5x bigger than my
middle school, then all the other kids looked like grown adults and they were so much taller than I.
Also coming to high school meant more responsible. Which at the time I really wasn t ready to handle
that pressure. I had already had a stressful middle school from other things that were going on in my
life. So I didn t want to start it off like that again, so I tried my best to do everything different from my
8th grade year. Even though 8th grade was probably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I was cut it left pain in my chest in the beginning, but I told myself not to give up because even
Jordan was cut his freshman year, so I turned that pain and Sorrow into determination and Dedication.
On the school side of freshman year, it seemed easier than 8th grade in the first quarter, but the second
quarter hit me like a wrecking ball. I was drowning in school work to my neck and It seemed like
there was a new test in math class every day. As the year carried on I notice how me and my peers
wasn t taking our school work as important as we should have. I notice how I went from a great
student to a slacking one how I was just not doing homework or not trying to really learn. It didn t hit
me till it was coming close to the end of the third quarter and I was at a D+, when I seen that I knew I
wasn t putting my best foot forward and that I could have done better that quarter. Nonetheless I
pulled it together for those last three weeks, I had brought that grade back up, I finished the quarter
with a B+ instead of a D+. which was really a wake up call for me in my freshman year, it gave me a
new perspective and mindset for the rest of that

The Spiritual Assessment Of A Medical Caretaker
Spiritual Assessment Tool I, being a medical caretaker, have the aim of providing healing to the
patients whom I attend in my hospital. I, being a catholic have the strong faith that every human being
is of body, soul and mind. It is true that the developments in the medical field can provide healing to
the patient to a certain extent. But at the same it is true that one s spiritual dispositions are also
important in the process of healing. So when one medical caretaker attends a patient, it is a necessity
to attend the needs of his spiritual needs too. So I make the spiritual assessment of my patient. I use

Cause And Effect Of The Spill
On the Easter Sunday of March 24, 1989 an oil tanker destined for Long Beach, California was
stopped short of its destination when it struck the Prince William Sound s Bligh Reef (PWS). In
charge of the ship was Captain Joseph Jeffrey Hazelwood. It was reported that Captain Hazelwood
was not at the bridge of the ship during the incident. Furthermore he was accused of alcohol
intoxication that might have contributed to the event. This event caused a catastrophic oil spill that
resulted in 11 million gallons of crude oil spreading throughout the ocean. At that time, it was
considered the largest oil that had ever happened in the United States, hence, it was expected to have
devastating effects on the ecology and the different species living ... Show more content on

In charge of the ship was Captain Joseph Hazelwood. At the time of the time incident, Hazelwood was
reported to be in his stateroom while leaving Third Mate Gregory Cousins in charge. This led to the
failure of the ship to return to the shipping lanes and eventually thrashing through the Bligh Reef.
Although Captain Hazelwood was accused and charged of alcohol intoxication while on duty, Captain
Hazelwood was acquitted of that charge, instead the state charged him with a misdemeanor
negligence. This misdemeanor gave Hazelwood a $50,000 fine and 1000 hour of community service.
Nearly twenty seven years ago is when the event took place and yet there are still thousands of gallons
of oil that pollute the beaches near Prince William Sound. The oil found in the beach still has it
adverse effects on the ecosystem near the shore. Although, observations have led for most to believe
that natural removal of the oil will take place overtime, a decline in the rate of oil removal have
proved them otherwise. From 1989 to 1992, the annual rate for natural oil removal was at 80%, the
following years of 1989 to 2001 took a staggering decline at a rate of 22%. After 2001, a mere 4% rate
was all that was left to defend the oiled shore of Prince William Sound. Efforts to clean the oil proved
to be difficult due to its remote location and reachable only by air and sea

Equal Rights Amendment
The Equal Rights Amendment, which was introduced in 1923, was a movement for women s rights
that ultimately lasted until 1982. The Equal Rights Amendment is discussed in our textbook, America,
A Concise Theory, on page 898. This particular site was chosen because it comes directly from the
website dedicated to the history of the Equal Rights Amendment. The amount of informative content
and photos was also a factor in choosing this website. Although there were several interesting facts in
the articles, three stuck out to me the most. The first interesting piece of information was the amount
of effort it took to allowing equal voting rights. In 1848, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and another woman,
Lucretia Motts, gathered over 300 people for a two day meeting to bring attention to the lack of
equality. After several resolutions were passed fairly easily, equality in voting still proved to be a
problem. Twenty four years later in 1972, Susan B. Anthony was arrested, convicted and fined for
trying to cast a ballot in the election. Stanton, Motts and Anthony all pioneered the way for women to
work towards equality in voting, but all died before they ever had a chance to cast their own votes.
The second interesting fact of the articles was how the 19th Amendment passed. At the start of the
20th century, the 19th Amendment, which is women s rights to vote, seemed to be making major
progress. More than half of the required states ratified the amendment within the first year,

Essay about Ethical Decision Making
Ethical Decision Making
We do not quite say that the new is more valuable because it fits in; but its fitting in is a test of its
value a test, it is true, which can only be slowly and cautiously applied, for we are none of us infallible
judges of conformity. , the famous poet T. S. Elliot once said. Ethics and conformity go hand in hand;
it is hard to talk about one subject without involving the other. The past two weeks of this humanities
course has been centered around the relationship which exists between these two subjects of matter.
The course allowed us to receive an in depth look at the decision making process, including moral and
ethical decision making, and to compare this to that of other students and writers. The ... Show more

If it does decide carefully, for the outcome is yours to deal with. Each individual person has their own
set of ethics. This set of moral principals can vary radically, depending on the subject, circumstance,
or even upbringing. On any given day an individuals morals can change depending on the happenings
of that day or previous days. One tiny event may have such a large impact on an individual that they
may choose to rethink their whole ethical system. The ethics you determine are yours and yours alone.
You do not need a book explaining why you feel the way you do. Each individual has suffered through
different hardships and has breezed through different high periods in their life. Ethics build as a person
ages and experiences more. The more you have seen and witnessed, the more able you are to draw
conclusions as to whether you have a point of view on that particular subject. In addition to individual
and personal codes of ethics, each person also has their own method of making decisions.

Synaptic Geotechnical Factors Influencing The Standard...
In fact, several synaptic geotechnical factors influence the standard penetration test results of similar
sand soils. Testing procedures attribute part of these mutations, therefore, normalizing the results to a
standard rod energy ratio usually eliminate such processes quandaries (e.g., Skempton, 1986).
Frequently, changes in test methods, samplers, hammers, and rods lead to corresponding variations in
N values due to the generated energy losses. Numerous researchers (e.g., Daniel et al., 2003 and
Skempton, 1986) suggested a standard dynamic energy about 60% of the hammer potential energy
(475J) to improve such losses as shown below: [1] Where ENTHRU is, the measured dynamic energy
transmitted from the hammer to the drilling rods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The overview has revealed that there is no standard quantitative description in the geotechnical
domain utilized to characterize the particle s shape. In other words, since there is no standard
quantitative description employed in the geotechnical domain for the particle s shape, ignorance took
place. Nevertheless, many researchers (e.g., Michell and Soga, 2005; Arasan et al., 2010, and
Rodriguez et al., 2013) agreed to define the particle shape as shown in Figure 1 and Table 2.
Furthermore, Table 3 illustrates some definitions for quantitative descriptors mentioned by many
authors. Santamarina and Cho, 2001 2004; Cho et al., 2006, and Rosé et al., 2008 manifested the
influence of the particle s roundness R on the void ratio range of different sands, as illustrated in
Figure 2a. While Miura et al. 1997 1998 proposed A2D to the correlations of the void ratio range at a
specific given D50, as shown in Figure 2b, also, they pointed out that most of the natural sand samples
have A2D between 300 600. Additionally, Chapuis, 2012, proposed empirical formulas for emax and
emin with the roundness factor of the particles as in Equations 12 13 respectively depending on data
gathered by Youd, 1973, and Krumbein and Sloss, 1963. [12] [13] On the other hand, the problem not

Analysis Of For Whom The Bell Tolls
For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway is a historical fiction love story, set in Spain during
the Spanish Civil war, which heavily develops thematically from a line about human nature from John
Donne s Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions of No man is an Iland; every man is a piece of the
continent, a part of the main, (Preface). Within the novel, anti fascist American man, Robert Jordan,
transforms from a distrustful man into an altruist for his loved ones, who discovers the idea Donne put
onto paper and Hemingway transcribed, creating a true, convincing, and logical conclusion (4, 247);
however, this change almost solely comes from the plot device of romantic love, which is only able to
be understood as logical with a suspension of disbelief (210). In order to judge the plot of the journey
of the protagonist and the ending of the novel, his development as a character should first be analyzed.
Initially, when coming to the revolution, Robert Jordan views the world as a black and white battle of
ideas and his only fear was not to complete his duty to his cause in life and war, rather than the people
the fighting truly stands for (51), which also extends to his lack of initial trust in his comrade,
Anselmo (4). Jordan as an independent loner represents a man believing he is an Iland, in how he
chooses to separate himself from others and believes his ideology is flawless, rather than trying to
improve as a human. Jordan eventually falls out of his linear views,

Summary Of The Chosen By Potok
The way things are percieved change over the years; however, some things are seen the same no
matter what. In the book The Chosen by Potek it showcases two main religions: Hasidic Judaism and
Modern Orthodox Judaism. While talking about the two types of the religions the author Potok in a
way shows Hasidic to be a worse religion than Modern Orthodox Judaism. The percpective of Hasidic
Judaism being a negative religon is still seen in today s media in articles like I escaped Judaism.
Throughout most of the book, Potok makes Hasidic Judaism seem like a negative religion by using the
main characters fathers as spokespeople towards their religion. One of the main character Danny
Sauder s father is a very strict man who raises his son in silence and is apart of Hasidic Judaism giving
it a negative connotation; while, the other main character Reuven s father is a very caring man towards
his son and allows him to do things and is apart of Modern Orthodox Judaism which gives it a positive
connotation. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of Hasidic Judaism. Throughout the article she says things like If you had a curvy body, then there was

  • 2. Customer Based Brand Equity Model Journal of Euromarketing, 18:115 132, 2009 Copyright c Taylor Francis Group, LLC ISSN: 1049 6483 print / 1528 6967 online DOI: 10.1080/10496480903022253 Customer Based Brand Equity for Global Brands: A Multinational Approach Eda Atilgan Serkan Akinci Safak Aksoy Erdener Kaynak ABSTRACT. Focusing on the dimensions and measurement, this study is based on the concept of brand equity for global brands with empirical evidence from three economically and culturally dissimilar countries USA, Turkey, and Russia. The brand equity for global brands can be measured under four basic dimensions: perceived quality, brand loyalty, brand associations, and brand trust. Emergence of brand trust as a new dimension instead of brand awareness complies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it is apparent that customer based brand equity has multiple dimensions, there is no general agreement in current marketing literature as to the nature and content of these dimensions. Previous research has proposed two (e.g., Faircloth, Capella, Alford, 2001; Keller, 1993), three (e.g., Han Collins, 2002; Netemeyer et al., 2004), four (e.g., Aaker, 1991; Yoo et al., 2000), five (e.g., Lassar, Mittal, Sharma, 1995), and even eight (e.g., Vazquez, Del Rio, Iglesias, 2002) dimensions. However, many of these brand equity dimensions have not been systematically measured or validated within a nomological framework (Netemeyer et al., 2004). For example, the existence and function of trust have not been fully investigated within the context of brand equity. On the globalization front, branding has received increasing attention from marketing academicians. The two prominent reasons for this are increased cross border population mobility and electronic mobility, both of which contributed to faster transfer of ideas and a global convergence in consumer tastes and values (Quelch, 1999). Global brands, as defined by Aaker and Joachimsthaler (1999), are those brands whose positioning, advertising strategy, personality, look, and feel are in most respects the same from one country to another. Reviewing the top 10 global brands, Quelch identified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Agenda Setting Vs Framing Theory In today s society, media is everywhere and it s not something we can easily avoid. We use the media for almost everything, we use it to form our own opinions on certain topics, to get information about what s going on in our communities and the world, and lately, for a lot of political information. We are constantly surrounded by it from our televisions, the news, internet, and all the information we can access on our phones and computers. There are many theories that have been created to explain how the media influences us and shapes the way we get information. Two of the theories that will be discussed in this paper are agenda setting and framing. These are two similar theories that we will look at and how they apply in the media to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I personally believe that framing is more compelling than agenda setting. I feel as though agenda setting is a much more cut and dry theory compared to framing. Framing is more complex and seems to be understood differently by lots of people. Throughout my research I was reading that not a lot of people agree with each other on what framing is or that the way it is used in the media has lots of different explanations. I also believe that framing has a larger effect on people than agenda setting does. The way I have interpreted framing throughout research is that it deals a lot more with a person s morals and values than agenda setting does. Agenda setting is more, this is what you see most often so it s what you re going to assume most often, whereas with framing it s telling you how to think instead of only what to think. The reason I chose the poll about immigration for an example of framing is because I feel as though the topic of immigration and whether or not people think it s a negative thing relies more on people s values and those values can easily be shaped by how the media is trying to persuade people to think that immigrants are bad and a problem, especially when our own president has such deep and negative ideals towards them. Agenda setting and framing are very similar but I just feel as though framing has more depth and a larger effect and influence on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Critical Review Of The Gunpowder Factory This critical review examines The former Gunpowder Factory in Dachau a concentration camp for Political Prisoners , Dachauer Volksblatt. 6th April 1933. This is a primary source in the form of a speech, directly from Heinrich Himmler himself during a press conference on the 20th March. This was first published in German, since it was aimed at the German citizens however it was later translated by Sally Winkle. This speech was given 2 months after Hitler became Chancellor of Germany, possibly showing he had the intention of getting rid of his hatred towards certain groups before he actually came into power. His opinions where clearly expressed in Mein Kampf where Hitler made his opinions somewhat clear on what he thought about inferior races. Dachau was said to be home to, in the words of Heinrich Himmler, Political prisoners , as well as all communist functionaries and the Reichsbanner (social democratic party, around during the Weimar Republic) and the Marxist functionaries. These where seen to be people who threatened the state. Hitler would have wanted to eliminate and threats to his rise to power, so sending them to a concentration camp seemed right. However, over time other selections of people where sent here, like Jehovah s witnesses, romas, homosexuals as well as asocial and repeat criminals. It was after the Kristallnacht that many Jews would arrive here. This information was retrieved from the USA holocaust memorial museum and has been deemed a reliable ... • 5. Essay about Bulimia Bulimia nervosa, more commonly known simply as bulimia or binge and purge disorder, is an eating disorder that affects 1 in 4 college aged women in America, or 1 in 10,000 Americans. The most common misconception concerning bulimia is that it is simply a physical or mental problem. Many people do not understand that bulimia is a disease that affects both the mind and the body, and in its course can destroy both aspects of the diseased individual. Bulimia affects a variety of different people, but generally the victims will fall tend to fall into certain categories. Those at highest vulnerability to this disease are young adult females, ages 12 to 18. The disease, however, can start as early as elementary school, or much later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bulimics usually weigh themselves frequently, even several times daily. Bulimics also suffer from an emotional cycle of guilt, pain, depression, and highs. They feel pride when they succeed in starving themselves; guilt, pain, and depression when they eat; and the high usually follows a purge. The cycle becomes an emotional outlet. Bulimics are often perfectionists, those who feel they have severe standards to live up to. Those who feel that they cannot control their lives may turn to eating disorders as a means to feel in control of some aspect of themselves. They tend to have an intense fear of becoming a failure, and letting others down. Many doctors and members of society feel that society, with its media fed images of beauty and perfection, is responsible for the disease. Food becomes a night and day obsession, causing them to withdraw from their families, as well as school and social lives. Bulimics will often refuse to eat in front of other people, and will find any sort of excuse to avoid meals in groups. They may sneak food for bingeing when no one else is around. Bulimics may sometimes run to the bathroom following any form of food intake. The disease is habit forming. Bulimia is a disease that affects the entire body, as well. • 6. Malware Problem Analysis Paper Problem Malware, as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, refers to a program that is covertly inserted into another program with the intent to destroy data, run destructive or intrusive programs, or otherwise compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the victim s data, applications or operating system. (M. K., 2013) This is a threat to all companies with any type of internet access and/or electronic information storage. That is currently a large number of both small and big businesses. Some important terms to take into account here is confidentiality, integrity and availability. These terms are known as CIA and are the core principles of information security. Malware will affect all three indefinitely if left unchecked. This will not only hurt a company s revenue but will potentially also hurt their reputation if wide scale enough. Malware is, by Gulf South Tech Solutions, considered to be the biggest threat to a business. With over 5,000 new malware attacks every day, the average time to resolve being over 25 days, the average financial cost being $3 million, and over 60% of the websites that infect a computer being legitimate sites that were compromised makes defense of paramount importance now more than ever. Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IEP) Students with intellectual disabilities present a distinctive educational challenge and need assistance achieving their academic needs (Luckasson Schalock, 2013). To support students to meet their academic needs, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires each student with an intellectual disability to have an individualized education program (Gartin Murdick, 2005). During this development, the individualized education program (IEP) team must consider assistive technology (AT) during the drafting of each student s IEP. Today, however, we have the technology to nurture these infants development, and many of them survive to lead normal, healthy lives. Although, very premature infants (that is, those born before about the fifth month) are still not likely to survive, many born at five months and older will thrive. Some preterm babies, however, do have many obstacles to overcome. There are a variety of medical problems that affect some of them, they may have impaired mental or physical conditions, and they may be looked upon by others in their environment as slow, or they might be treated differently because they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This still puts them in the same IQ range as their full term peers. They are more likely to need special education classes later in life, though, and more likely to have to repeat a grade in school. This is most likely because some premature infants have been shown to have some cognitive impairment when compared to full term infants of the same age. Their memories are not as good, and their information processing speed is significantly lower. There have been many studies performed that compare the cognitive performance of preterm infants with full term infants. One study in particular, performed by Susan A. Rose and Judith F. Feldman, tested the memory and the processing speed of preterm children versus full term children at the age of eleven. They used the Colorado Specific Abilities Test, which is a comparison of eight paper and pencil tasks the child must perform. This test showed the degree of these four abilities: memory, perceptual speed, spatial ability, and verbal ability. They also used the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) which is a detailed exam of memory and speed. This test shows us exactly what aspects of speed and memory it is that pre and full term children differ in, and how much this difference actually affects them. It is comprised of a set of basic cognitive tasks used to study the individual elements of cognitive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Destruction And Excavation Of Pompeii The Destruction and excavation of Pompeii Shea Garrett October 5 2017 Pamperien Pompeii was a City in Italy which overall has a great significance in Roman culture. Pompeii was not famous for its rise or its rule but its destruction. Pompeii was a picture perfect world full of culture and rich history, It was destroyed in AD 79 by a Volcanic eruption from Mount Vesuvius. It was a symbol of Roman culture and has a great influence on the future even though it existed so long ago. Life in Pompeii was over all serene, in the Italian countryside of Campania. • 10. Immersion Reflection Paper A recent experience of mine that has made a significant impact on who I am today would be my joining of open immersion. Immersion has always been a tradition of my school, Assumption College, for many years. This became one of many reasons why I decided that I d like to take part of this tradition before I graduate and leave my more than a decade long alma mater. I also chose to volunteer because I saw this as a good opportunity to render community service and fulfill my social responsibility as a student in the Assumption community. However, I had underestimated how this journey would impact my own identity. I entered this odyssey without much prior knowledge on what would happen and what exactly we would be doing. The immersion took place in the small community in Barrio Obrero, Iloilo. Our volunteer group, consisting of only five high school students and a couple of teacher chaperones, was based in a public learning center called the Assumption Socio Educational Center (ASEC), which was founded by the Assumption community many years ago. But after we ve done our part for this task, we were assigned to help out in the school s bookstore, wherein we covered notebooks in plastic wrap. It seemed to be a menial task, but it was an enjoyable afternoon. We were able to interact with the bookstore workers there and learn more about the community while we did the task. • 11. Difference Between The Adlerian Approach And... The main difference between the Adlerian approach and the Psychoanalytic approach deals with the stance the therapist takes. In the Psychoanalytic approach , the therapist sits back and gives the client the right to express himself without any resistance. Since transference is a big issue with this approach, and the client can develop projections toward the therapist(Corey, 2013, pg. 481), so it is important for the therapist to remain neutral. Transference interpretation helps our clients by enabling them to see broad patterns of fantasies, interactions and object relations that they had never put together before(Howes, 2010). This approach goes against the philosophy of counseling because the therapist take a back seat, while the client takes the wheel and counseling should be more about an integrative approach. On the other hand the Psychoanalytic approach is based on mutual respect and the importance of goals. Focus is on identifying, exploring and disclosing mistaken goals and faulty assumptions within the persons lifestyle(Corey, 2013, pg. 481), and this approach shows the importance of a therapist who uses more guidance to identify those objectives. The main differences between Existential and Person Centered approach would have to be that the Existential approach focuses on client reflecting on their life while the Person Centered approach shows us that people are self directed and don t necessarily needs a counselor to make positive changes in order to achieve ... Aphorisms In The Importance Of Being Earnest One of Oscar Wilde s most notable works, The Importance of Being Earnest, showcases Wilde s bizarre and arguably backwards take on the literary device known as an aphorism. Most commonly, aphorisms are used in a didactic context and tend to reflect some form of ethical guideline or universal truth. It is easy to write off Wilde s utilization of the device as ironic, as the aphorisms used in the play demonstrate values that are diametrically opposed to those we recognize in the real world; however, due to the aforementioned fact that aphorisms are typically meant to point out a universal truth, it can be argued that Wilde s use of the device is quite proper in the sense that the specific universe created in the work just happens to be different ... • 13. Plate Tectonics Evolve How Did the Theory of Plate Tectonics Evolve? The theory of plate tectonics evolved out of the theory of continental drift. Alfred Wegener originally proposed the theory that continents move over time in 1912 after observing that many coastlines on opposite sides of the ocean appeared to match up like puzzle pieces. He formed the theory of continental drift based on evidence, such as the fact that fossils of the same species of plant or land animals are found across oceans, on different continents. Unfortunately, Wegener s theory was largely ignored in part because it did not explain how or why the continents moved. Over the next 50 years, however, scientists continued to collect evidence that suggested he may have been right. For example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Salivary Amylase And Phosphorylase Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to determine the enzyme activity for salivary amylase and phosphorylase by placing them under different conditions of temperature and enzyme concentration. An enzyme is a protein that acts as a catalyst to form reaction, and see the activity of the specific enzyme (Knowles, 1991). One part of the enzyme, salivary amylase, is that alpha amylase is in the saliva of most animals because this enzyme breaks down starch (Jacobsen, Melvaer, Hensten Pettersen, 1972). In the presence of starch, this enzyme is present in saliva, but is not present when there is no starch present (Jacobsen, Melvaer, Hensten Pettersen, 1972). The conditions for salivary amylase to have a reaction with starch would change in temperature and enzyme concentration, as well as, monitoring the pH levels (Jacobsen, Melvaer, Hensten Pettersen, 1972). Salivary amylase is an enzyme is human saliva that helps in digestion of specific substrates, such as starch (Hudman, Friend, Hartman, Ashton, Catron, 1957). It breaks down starch molecules by splitting maltose from the non reducing end of a gluten molecule (Jacobsen, Melvaer, Hensten Pettersen, 1972). Phosphorylase acts on starch and glycogen by breaking it down by breaking the glucose bonds and taking a glucose molecule off of the structure (Ball, Vialle, Alonso Casajus, Duavillee, Munoz, Baroja Fernandez, Moran Zorzano, Eydallin, Pozueta Romero, 2006). • 15. The Failure Of The Insurrectionary Movement The Failure of the Insurrectionary Movement, 1837 1839 Canada has always been under a capitalist ruling regime for many years. The Canadian state, even as a colony of both England and France, went through mercantilist monopolistic practices that affected the lower working classes. During this period, the Church was powerful and was involved in the formulation of power. The state was fully supported by the Church and gained its wealth through illegal means with major benefits going to the aboriginal Canadian citizens. The rebellion or uprising was aimed at fighting capitalist regime introduced by foreigners, addressing high poverty levels and ensuring equitable distribution of resources among the Canadian citizens. This paper will explore the sharing of power between the citizens, Church, and government during the insurrectionary movement. The author suggests that the Canadian natives are suffering in many ways in the hands of foreigners. The capitalist regime is taking everything from the natives and suffer huge monetary loss due to the high taxes. The natives cry foul of intruders who have taken control of everything including robbing the exchequer and carrying their proceeds to their home countries. Imperialism is the main argument that the author tries to bring out in this case. The foreigners exploited Canada s natural resources at the expense of the local citizens. Local citizens provided cheap labor and products to Europeans. The author claims that the natives were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Medication Errors And The Efficiency Of Medication... McComas, Riingenm and Kim (2014), conducted a study that investigated the occurrence of medication errors and the efficiency of medication administration following the implementing an eMAR system. The study was conducted in an appropriate setting and all observed nurses volunteered for the study. Before implementing the eMARs mandatory class were provided and nurses were evaluated for competency. Data was collected by observation and nurses were randomly followed throughout a medication pass. Collected data consisted of medication errors, distractions during medication pass and amount of time spent administering medications. The results of this study was that the percentage of medication errors decreased following the implementation of eMARs. Although medication errors were decreased, the authors found that the eMAR system decreased efficiency and disturbed workflow. The authors state that factors such as missing medications, preparing medication at the bedside, and distractions contributed to this and are factors that can be improved. The author s identified the presence of several limitation in the study. The use of one individual to collect data created a possibility of bias and the observation of nurses may have affected the behaviors of the nurse. Also, the authors state that the study was not a cause and effect study and was only conducted on one unit which decreased the generalizability of the study. Organizations could select one or more of these tests, but they have to be careful of the reliability and validity of all the results. Some results might be different depending on the environment of the testing area, or the relationship between the applicants and their previous employer/manager. Many organizations depend only on the result of the test without taking the reliability and validity into considerations, which that might lead to in hiring the wrong people. What is the difference between reliability and validity? Reliability is the consistency and the stability of a selection measurement and validity is the degree to which a measure predicts on the job performance (Green, 2003). For instance, the consistency of a test is made for to measure reliability and what kind of method to use to test the candidate is to measure validity. • 23. Reality And Malthus Predictions Of Population Reality and Malthus Predictions of Population Imagine if Earth s population was so large that all of the world s resources had to be exhausted to their last limits just to provide food for only half of the population. That is exactly what 17th century demographer Thomas Malthus envisioned when he predicted how the world s population would affect the world s resources. In An Essay on the Principle of Population, published in the late 18th century, Malthus expressed many controversial predictions in which he argued that the increase of resources was arithmetic while the increase in population was exponential; thus, he concluded that the population would greatly outpace the amount of resource growth on Earth. Being that Malthus made his predictions during the industrial revolution (which was when North America and Europe reached stage two of the demographic transition), many critics of his theory claim that Malthus calculations were inaccurate because he did not consider technological advances in relation to food production. Also, Malthus critics believe that he overestimated population increase (mainly because of the time period he lived in) and (adverb) underestimated the production rate of resources. Though both sides of the debate are plausible, it is evident that Malthus views were incorrect because modern day statistics regarding population and food production do not support his claims. This particular site was chosen because it comes directly from the website dedicated to the history of the Equal Rights Amendment. The amount of informative content and photos was also a factor in choosing this website. Although there were several interesting facts in the articles, three stuck out to me the most. The first interesting piece of information was the amount of effort it took to allowing equal voting rights. In 1848, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and another woman, Lucretia Motts, gathered over 300 people for a two day meeting to bring attention to the lack of equality. After several resolutions were passed fairly easily, equality in voting still proved to be a problem. Twenty four years later in 1972, Susan B. Anthony was arrested, convicted and fined for trying to cast a ballot in the election. Stanton, Motts and Anthony all pioneered the way for women to work towards equality in voting, but all died before they ever had a chance to cast their own votes. The second interesting fact of the articles was how the 19th Amendment passed. Analysis Of For Whom The Bell Tolls For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway is a historical fiction love story, set in Spain during the Spanish Civil war, which heavily develops thematically from a line about human nature from John Donne s Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions of No man is an Iland; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main, (Preface). Within the novel, anti fascist American man, Robert Jordan, transforms from a distrustful man into an altruist for his loved ones, who discovers the idea Donne put onto paper and Hemingway transcribed, creating a true, convincing, and logical conclusion (4, 247); however, this change almost solely comes from the plot device of romantic love, which is only able to be understood as logical with a suspension of disbelief (210). In order to judge the plot of the journey of the protagonist and the ending of the novel, his development as a character should first be analyzed. Initially, when coming to the revolution, Robert Jordan views the world as a black and white battle of ideas and his only fear was not to complete his duty to his cause in life and war, rather than the people the fighting truly stands for (51), which also extends to his lack of initial trust in his comrade, Anselmo (4).
