Evolution Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of evolution can be both challenging and fascinating. The
complexity of the subject requires a deep understanding of biological concepts, historical
perspectives, and the ability to synthesize information from various sources. Crafting a
comprehensive and well-structured essay involves delving into the intricacies of evolutionary
theory, exploring the evidence supporting it, and addressing counterarguments.
One of the difficulties lies in presenting a balanced view that acknowledges different
perspectives on evolution. It requires not only a grasp of scientific theories but also an
understanding of the social, cultural, and religious implications associated with the topic.
Striking the right balance between scientific rigor and accessible language for a broader audience
adds an extra layer of complexity.
Moreover, staying updated with the latest research findings in the field is essential, as the field
of evolutionary biology is dynamic, with new discoveries and debates emerging regularly. This
necessitates thorough literature review and critical analysis, making the essay a constant work in
progress.
Organizing the essay effectively is another challenge. The vast amount of information on
evolution requires careful selection and structuring to present a coherent and compelling
argument. Transitioning between different aspects of the topic while maintaining a logical flow
can be demanding.
In conclusion, writing an essay on evolution demands a multidimensional approach, combining
scientific knowledge, critical thinking skills, and effective communication. It requires the writer
to navigate through a sea of information, address various perspectives, and present a cohesive
narrative. While challenging, the process offers an opportunity to engage with one of the most
intriguing and impactful scientific theories.

Bill Of Rights Vs Anti Federalism
Federalism is the division of powers among local, state, and national governments.
Although, Anti Federalists had a lot of good points, Federalists belief in a strong
central government, limited powers, and no need for the Bill of Rights, is why it is
the better stance. Topics discussed in this essay will be the difference between
Federalismand Anti Federalism, each side s opinions on the Bill of Rights, and why
Federalism is the better side to be on.
For the ratification of the Constitution to happen, nine out of the thirteen states had to
approve of it. This divided the delegates into two separate groups, Federalists and Anti
Federalists. Federalists wanted a strong central government and immediate
ratification of the Constitution. Conversely, Anti Federalists wanted power in the
states, not the central government, It is true this government is limited to certain
objects, or to speak more properly, some small degree of power is still left to the
states, (Brutus I). Also, they favored the Articles of Confederationdue to the Bill of
Rights. On the other hand, Federalists disagreed with including the Bill of Rights
because of the possibility of it backfiring in future generations. ... Show more content

Why for instance, should it be said, that the liberty of the press shall not be
restrained, when no power is given by which restrictions may be imposed? (Federalist
No. 84). Federalists thought listing rights in the document could allow the
government to justify limiting a right because it does not appear in print. However,
without the promise of the Bill of Rights, many Anti Federalists would have not

The four great inventions by ancient Chinese people that have had a huge impact on
the entire world are papermaking, gunpowder, printing, and the compass. Paper was a
great contribution to the spread and development of civilization. The first nation to
invent paper was china (www.fmprc.gov). Words were written on numerous natural
materials by ancient people before it was invented (www.fmprc.gov). Mesopotamians
used earthen plates, Egyptians used grass stalks, Europeans used sheepskin, Indians
used sheep skin, and the early Chinese used bamboo, wooden strips, tortoise shells, or
shoulder blades of an ox (www.fmprc.gov). These materials proved themselves
unsuitable as Chinese civilization developed because of their bulk and weight

The paper making process first spread to Korea and then to Japan in the beginning of
the third century (www.fmprc.gov). Then in the twelfth century it reached the Arab
world in the Tang Dynasty, and Europe. (www.fmprc,gov). The Arabs captured some
Tang soldiers and paper making workers during the war between the Tang Dynasty
and the Arab Empire (www.travalchinaguide.com). The Arabs set up the paper

Brandy Breaking My Trust
The personal story which I told last week meant a lot for me because it is a story I
have been wrestling with because it was something I have been dealing with
majority of my first year here at UNC. The story of Brandy breaking my trust and
our friendship caused me to re evaluate most of my friendships and caused me to
be angry with myself and those around me for some time. In the last few weeks I
grasp the idea in which I couldn t blame my previous friends because of a betrayal
of our friendship, but this betrayal did reshape any relationship I will create
throughout my life. I know now to trustwith ease and that if I don t want something
so major to spread and cause chaos in my life I must either keep it to myself or
only share with people like Mahogany, whom I have trusted for a while in my life.

At some point of time in everyone s life someone has betrayed their trust and or

people are oblivious to getting them and should understand that they are easier to

thought contracting an STD was so far fetch of an idea. Sharing this story to
college students allowed for them to see me, a student like themselves as a first

I want them to remember the lasting lines of my story, which was to not let an STD

Sirius Research Paper
Introduction
Sirius is in the Canis Major constellation. Sirius is known as the Dog Star and is the
brightest star in our night sky. Sirius is double the size of our sun and at least seven
thousand degrees hotter than it as well. Not only that but Sirius A is also 20 times
brighter than our sun. It is about 8.5 light years away and the closest star other than
the sun. Sirius has a companion star called, Sirius B or The Pup. Sirius sits very
low in the sky and is extremely easy to spot in the dark evenings and usually during
the summer dog days which are between July 3rd and August 11th and cold winter
nights.
History of discovery
The Sun is one astronomical unit away so in actuality, it s 0.00001581 light years
away. Sirius looks smaller than the sun because it s almost 9 light years away,
which means it s 92,919,000 or the astronomical units away. Sirius has a dwarf or
twin star next to it, this star is called Sirius B. Sirius B was assumed to exist in 1844
but it wasn t actually discovered until almost 18 years later! ... Show more content on

However, the Hubble Space Telescope has taken imagines of both Sirius A and his
companion Sirius B. Sirius A and Sirius B revolve around each other every 50
years, which makes us wonder when was the last time they revolved around each
other? Though Sirius A is still a star, Sirius B is a white dwarf. White dwarf s are
what stars become once they cool and die. Sirius B is what our Sun will turn into
one day, since it, Sirius B, was at one time or another, similar to our Sun. More
research is being done to increase the knowledge we have on Sirius B, because
there is very little information on it but it was discovered more than 150 years ago.
NASA believes that with the technology and telescope equipment they have, they can

Buddhism Is Considered A Religion Or A Philosophy
Many people are curious as to whether buddhism is considered a religion or a
philosophy but I believe that it is both. According to (https://www.google.com
/#q=buddhismBuddhism) is a non theistic religion or philosophy that encompasses a
variety of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices largely based on teachings
attributed to the Buddha. Buddhisminhabits several traits that consider it a religion
and a philosophy. There is not a clear distinction that defines buddhism as one or
the other. Some practices of Buddhism display faith and belief which are qualities
of religion and other practices display reality, existence and knowledge which are
qualities of philosophy. Trying to separate religion from philosophy does not work
well in the case of Buddhism. According to (https://www.google.com/#q=religion)
religion is a cultural system of behaviors, practices, world views, ethics and social
organization that relate humanity to an order of existence. Buddhism is considered
a religion because it does in fact involve elements of self transformation, faith and
belief. It has a core set of beliefs that are common to almost all branches of
buddhism. Buddhism clearly defines a mythology, a soteriology, and a eschatology
which is what religion consists of. Much of Mahayana Buddhism is religious for
example, Pure Land Buddhism has many parallels to the theistic religions. Buddhism
contains an explanation of the origin of existence, a morality and a specific set or
Charles Dickens Oliver Twist, And The Parish Boy s...
Many critics today consider Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, or, The Parish
Boy s Progress, as being a commentary of both society s treatment and view of the
lower class in the 19th century. In the early 1800 s a Poor Law was put in place,
saying that each parish was required to care for their poor within the area. Many
viewed this as the lower class being lazy and lacking ambition. Dickens uses irony
to comment on the society s belief that the lower class were fated to remain in that
manner. The use of irony occurs throughout the novel, becoming present in the
beginning of the story when Oliver s mother is in labour. Upon his birth Oliver is
described as being unequally poised amid this world and the next (1). In this
passage Dickens juxtaposes Oliver between living the life he has just been born into,
and death, assuming to be reincarnated and born into the next , presumably better,
life. He then furthers this contrast by comparing the situation Oliver found himself
in, being birthed by a woman who was rendered rather misty and a parish surgeon
who he notes worked by contract (1). The alliteration used in the former brings
emphasis to the company Oliver is in during such a crucial time, with a woman who
is drunk and a surgeon who is there as he has no other choice. The author again
juxtaposes Oliver s lonesome and melancholic situation to the ideal situation of
childbirth, with careful grandmothers, anxious aunts, experienced nurses, and doctors
of profound
Assumptions About Documentaries and an Analysis of The...
Assumption about documentaries being true, educational only, no imagination
needed aren t correct . There are several documentaries we watched in class that show
that documentaries don t all fall under the same assumptions. A common assumption
about documentaries is that there is no imagination needed. In a time when the major
media recycle the same stories on the same subjects over and over, when they risk
little in formal innovation, when they remain beholden to powerful sponsors with
their own political agendas and restrictive demands, it is the independent
documentary filmthat has brought a fresh eye to the events of the world and told
stories, with verve and imagination, that broaden limited horizons and awaken new...

Even though they are real people we weren t really seeing who they are.
A documentary film is not made up; it shows what really happens in real life; shows
things as they are naturally are. This statement is not completely true. The story a
documentary tells stems from the historical world but it is still told from the
filmmaker s perspective and in the filmmaker s voice. This is a matter of degree,
not a black and white division. (Nichols, 12) In these cases the stories told speak
about the actual events directly, not allegorically, and the film adheres to the known
historical facts. Social actors, people, present themselves in fluid, negotiated,
revealing ways. (Nichols,12) According to Nichols documentaries are true events but
the filmmaker shapes what we see into what they want us to see. We are getting the
perspective of the directors. An example of movie watched in class was Nanook of
the North, even though the people were real, some of the scenes seemed staged.
The director wants us to see Nanook and his people behind on technology and still
living in the past. There is the scene were one of them is biting a disc, it seems the
director is trying to make us believe these people are way behind and primitive.
Another scene that helps prove that not everything caught on camera happens
naturally is when Nanook sees all the other eskimos going
African American Male Enters The Criminal Judicial
System,...
As reported by the U.S. Justice Department, there has been significant increase in
incarcerated African American males, in comparison to Hispanic and White males. It
is believed that social interaction, area of residency, and social networks have major
influence on the increasing crime and incarceration rates of African Americanmales.
A larger portion of White males hold more positions within the U.S. Judicial
system than African American males who make up a larger population of prison
inmates and less involvement in legislation. This coincides with data suggesting
that African American s have lower percentages of receiving or obtaining higher
education, placing them in areas of low income and less opportunities. Social
inequality in the judicial system is questioned as well as demographics and
economics will be researched in order to provide in depth analysis of these national
percentages of African Americans. Additional research is conducted to investigate
circumstances once an African American male enters the criminal judicial system,
and a generational cycle of crime. There is more knowledge and potential
opportunities within the prison system versus the lack of resources these prisoners
would feel they would have upon their release. The Judicial system appears to be
White male dominated due to factors regarding higher education, as well as
opportunities or resources to pursue careers of higher statuses. The percentage of
black adults who obtained a bachelor s degree

The Church of Holy Sepulchre has been a major pilgrimage site for Christians from

Science Fiction, Melodrama and Western Intersect in David Lynch s Dune
A genre is a grouping of works, in this context a grouping of films, that are somehow
similar or related in content or style. Genres are not strictly uniform over a period of
time and do allow for growth and adaptation of their definitive characteristics. As the
film industry has developed through the past century, various genres of films have
emerged and are still evolving. Aspects of genres have been redefined and
intermingled through the history of film. There have also been, throughout the
progression of filmmaking, films which do not strictly fall into one genre or which
combine elements of several genres. David Lynch s 1984 film Dune is a fascinating

Melodrama, as a film genre, is deeply rooted in the institution of the family and
various incarnations and evolved states of the family unit. Familial issues arise more
often in science fiction than has been widely acknowledged. The futuristic universe
of Dune and all of the action of the film is motivated by inter and intra familial
conflicts and resolutions. Science fiction, at times, appears to be merely a scientific
or futuristic setting for the same kind of melodrama film that has been made for
years. However, according to Westfahl, science fiction reconstructed melodrama in a
manner which complicated and undermined its traditional clarity (193). Thus
whereas in a melodrama such as The Cobweb, the initial conflict of the narrative is
merely left unresolved (but on an optimistic beat), in the science fiction melodrama,
the film is ended with a hopelessly compromised happy ending (Westfahl, 203).
Such is the case with Dune: as the film closes, rain pours down on the desert planet.
The rain is meant to represent a positive miracle and something that is desirable, but
the fact that rain would turn the desert sand to mud, potentially drowning and killing
the giant worms and thus ending all spice production is ignored. The ending leaves
the film on a happy note, but the ending has not resolved the film: it had added more
conflict to be resolved. Dune is

Comparing Three Poems The Buried Life And This Moment
Poetry is a form of art that can serve many functions, depending on what point the
poet is trying to convey. A poet can use functions such as humor, sadness, or hope
to convey a message that can transcend eras. However, the most often used function
in the world of poetry is the use of inspiration. Often poets use short, but powerful,
lines to inspire their readers into a specific way of thinking or acting. In the poems,
Sadie and Maud , The Buried Life , and This Moment , three poems from three
different time periods, three poets use the function of inspiration to inspire readers to
follow their passions and to recognize that they come in many shapes and sizes.
In the poem, Sadie and Maud (1945), by Gwendolyn Brooks, two sisters are compared

Boland is drawing attention to how to often these tiny moments happen and we fail
to realize their significance. Everything described before the moment is still, as if
time is stopped, and it s not until the moment is over that everything begins to move
again, the moment when time resumes. Boland uses the poetic function of inspiration
to inspire us all to take time to appreciate the tiny things in our lives because
something as simple as holding a small child can be the most magical.
Poetry is a timeless form of art, where a function of poetry can be used to share a
message, idea, or perspective that was written hundreds of years ago with the
world we live in today. In the poems Sadie and Maud , The Buried Life , and This
Moment , we witnessed three poems, written in three very different time periods, by
very different poets, all portray very similar messages by using the poetic function of
inspiration. Inspiration is something that surrounds all of us, and having the ability
to find inspiration in timeless pieces of poetry is a tool we all can use, no matter
what part of society, culture, or background we come

The opposition however was led by Commissioner Teodulo Navidad saying that

After a series of more debates and arguments, stating the disadvantages and

Summary of Burro Genius Essay
Burro Genius is story about the life of Victor Villasenor showing how he overcame
racism at school and his difficulties in reading to become a famous writer.
Victor had many advantages to be a successful student. He was born in a rich
family. His parents, Salvador and Lupe, were wealthy landowners and their
rancho, where they had built a beautiful home, was very large. The rancho gave a
healthy lifestyle for all his family members. Before starting kindergarten, Victor
could ride horses like an adult and was ready to live as a cowboy. Moreover, his
family was ready to help him whenever he needed.
However, school was extremely difficult to Victor. In fact, school was a different

Those made him think of justice after all years: He wanted to kill Moses and all of
teachers who abused him and Mexican kids. However, when he saw his father
forgiving a doctor who was the main reason of Joseph s death, he quit his revenge
and excused those teachers.
Victor devoted his life to write although he could not read well. After writing for 13
years and receiving over 260 rejections, he finally got his first book published in
1973. His publicist requested him to attend the California Association of Teachers of
English Conference and be part of a workshop. Unfortunately, when the planned
keynoter for the convention was delayed and other authors in attendance did not
volunteer to give a speech, Victor said he could.
He had planned to talk about his book Macho, but when he faced the crowd of
teachers, his experience at school came back into his mind. He said he had faced a
lot of abuse and his efforts to overcome bad teaching and become a writer. He
admired good teachers with all his heart but criticized bad teachers. That presentation
was not what the audience expected. Some reacted cruelly and left, but most of
audience stayed and listened to him. After that, Victor was invited to give more
speeches to let the audience know what worked in their education system.
In 1985, he found out that his two boys and he got dyslexia. Victor himself was so

Approaches to Inclusion

understanding of the principle that early years settings should provide for the needs
of all children, including those with sensory and learning needs, gifted children, and
children from remote and nomadic populations, children from linguistic, ethnic or
religious minorities and children from other disadvantaged or marginalised areas or
groups. For the purpose of this report, the researcher will use the term Children with
Special Educational Needs to refer to the above groups. The researcher will provide
a critical awareness on how theoretical models have changed ways of thinking about

All educational policies, says the Framework, should stipulate that disabled children
attend the neighbourhood school, that would be attended if the child did not have a
disability. (UNESCO, 1994., p.24) There is seemingly little doubt that the catalyst for
inclusion within the English system lies in the sentiments outlined in the Salamanca
Statement. As Hornby, (2002)., asserts, The statement has resulted in what, at times,
appears to be a tidal wave of inclusion intent preached with overpowering zeal by the

attempt to end the vagueness of special educational needs, previously delivered
through a postcode lottery of provision. (Clough, 1998. p.2) 2.3Theoretical Models It

Cheesecake Factory Swot
I.Industry Introduction
The chain restaurant industry comprises both chain and franchised food service
restaurants that enable customers to order food and receive services while being
seated. A company has to have multiple operational joints and the ability to offer
consistency in the food and service provided throughout the branches before it can be
considered a chain restaurant.
Over the past five years to 2016, the US chain restaurant industry posted a
comfortable annualized growth of 4.3%. The industry generated a revenue stream of
US$107.6 billion domestically as of last year and accounted for over 780 businesses
in the United States. The chain restaurants industry is currently at its maturity stage
of the life cycle, and is coming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Identity Theory Of Mind
The development of the Identity Theory of Mind is representative of materialist
philosophy s shift towards questions of human consciousness. Within philosophical
and scientific circles, discussions of the mind and body have supplanted discussions
of what constitutes the world around us. Staggering technological innovation,
alongside the establishment of superior of scientific research methodologies, has
given rise to this philosophical trend Identity Theory is, indeed, the culmination of
this trend. Throughout the course of this essay I will both define and defend
Identity Theory against what I consider to be two superficially convincing counter
arguments; namely, the invocation of the Leibniz Law (otherwise referred to as The
Identity of Indiscernibles) and The Problem of Other Minds . Though seemingly
persuasive, the invocation of the Leibniz Law, at its core, consists of a semantic
trick. As a general ontological principle the Leibniz Law may possess some validity;
in its specific application to Identity Theory however, it remains destitute of
substance. On the other hand, The Problem of Other Minds relies on a radical
scepticism irreconcilable with current understandings of the brain. Based on the
degree of scientific knowledge available regarding the composition of the brain,
Identity Theory, at this time, provides a logical and coherent account of the
relationship between mindand body.
The Identity Theory of Mind asserts that states and processes of the mind
The Unification of Germany Between 1863 and 1871 Essay
The Unification of Germany Between 1863 and 1871
On the 18th January 1871, Wilhelm 1 was proclaimed Emperor of a united Germany.
The unification of Germany was, like all historical events, multi causal, the most
influential reasons being the Bismark s cynical and unscrupulous diplomacy, military
superiority of Prussia and economic power, and lastly, popular nationalist sentiment.
Bismark seems to be the most important factor of these. He was a successful
diplomat with strong anti liberal views. Even though parliament refused to approve
taxes for enlarging the Prussian army, Bismark simply carried on collecting them,
showing his willingness to go to extreme measures to achieve his aims. ... Show more

Napoleon III feared the encirclement of France if a Hohenzollern became king and
demanded that Prince Leopold withdraw. This was agreed but he then demanded
guarantees that the candidature would not be renewed. Bismark altered the Ems
telegram so that the French Government could only take it as a rebuff. The French
public demanded a war which was again a triumph for Prussia, giving her Alsace and
Lorraine and enabled Bismark to complete the unification of Germany.
Military superiority in Prussia also aided the unification process. The declaration
of a German Reich followed the victories of the Prussian army over Austria and
France. Within a month the French armies were decisively defeated, the Prussian
capturing over 160 000 French soldiers. The Prussian army was able to mobilise at
speed compared to France. The Austrian was lasted only seven weeks as Austria had
to fight on two fronts and Prussia s planning and weaponry were far superior to that
of Austria.
Chief of Staff, Von Moltke was a good organiser and planner of the army. He was
able to increase their size, improve tactical mobility and also the provision of
supplies. Without this strength of backing the unification of Germany would not have
been possible. The Prussian army also had good quality weaponry, shown in the
introduction of the

NS2 is developed as the completely object oriented network simulator by Using the
technologies such as OTcL and CPP. The class hierarchy which is presented in the
OTcL and C++ interpreted is very much supported by the network simulator in which
there is one to one mapping in between compile hierarchy and the class in the
interpreted hierarchy .
NS2 contain two types of programming languages used that we have discussed
above, such as C ++ and OTcl :
Use C++ : is used for the speed efficiency in the simulation of the networks.
Use OTcl: the reason is that OTcl language is suitable for the programs and
configurations which are demanding for the fast and frequent network changes.
Thus such tool is very flexible for the useNs 2 as it also allows user to existing
protocols for their application simulations as well as to develop their network
protocol in order to extend the functionality of the tool. Network simulator also
helps for the performance measurement from the trace analysis functionality which
is very important for the research purposes in order to measure the efficiency of
particular application or particular routing protocol. NS2 is open source and free
software tool which is widely available for downloads from the Internet. It was

Benefits Of Leather Jackets
Introduction
Is there anything more synonymous with the biker lifestyle than a leather jacket?
From James Dean to Armin Tamzarian, history s most beloved bikers all used
leather jackets as a means of rebelling against the suits and shattering conventions.
Today, however, bikers are shying away from leather jackets, largely due to the
expense. Novice bikers are instead purchasing cheaper textile and mesh models,
which while indeed effective, don t offer the same protection or style as a leather
model.
While the vast majority of worthwhile leather motorcycle jackets will set you back
at least a couple of hundred dollars, there are a number of quality models which can
be purchased for less. In this article, I m going to be showing you some ... Show more

Handmade
Many motorcycle brands rely on a collection of machines to mass produce their
products, which has been known to drastically decrease the effectiveness and
longevity of the completed garments. The ABz Leathers Vintage Cafe Racer
Leather Jacket is handmade, so you can be sure careful attention was paid to every
stitch in order to make it as durable and as reliable as possible.
Multiple Pockets
You can have the most sturdy, padding packed motorcycle jacket in the world, but it
doesn t mean a thing if the jacket doesn t come with pockets in which you can store
essential items such as your wallet and smartphone. Motorcycles don t offer a
whole lot of storage room, so if you don t have pockets on your jacket, you can t
really bring anything with you. The Vintage Cafe Racer Leather Jacket boasts a
total of four deep front pockets, giving you plenty of room to store the items you
need to go about your daily
Symbols In Tangerine By Edward Bloor
Tangerine Trees
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines symbolism as a representation of abstract
or intangible things by means of symbols. There is a lot of this in Tangerine, and
every symbol has a different meaning and theme connected to it. The use of this
symbolism in the novel has not only created a new way to think of the book, but a
web of themes tied to symbols. In the novel Tangerine by Edward Bloor, a young
boy named Paul is held captive by the giant secret surrounding his mysterious eye
injury. He has a feeling the injury somehow involves his older brother Erik, but he
does not know for sure yet. When he moves to the town of Tangerine, Florida, he
finds out the truth behind the secrets and lies that have been haunting him for years.

important. Almost everybody in that town works in the fields, including Luis and
his family, who are close friends with Paul. Everyone works extremely hard to
keep the trees alive and healthy, especially during a freeze, a cold time that sweeps
the county with ice every few years. When Paul goes out to Luis family s field to

called the rootstock. It is the root and trunk of a rough lemon tree. Believe it or
not, every type of tree that we produce here begins its life as a rough lemon tree

That was like how the tangerine trees are rough lemon rootstocks before they
become trees. As he progressed in Tangerine, he went through lots of hard times and
struggles. It seemed the whole world was against him. That was the freeze for the

Essay The History of Slavery in the United States
Following the success of Christopher Columbus voyage to the Americas in the
early16th century, the Spaniards, French and Europeans alike made it their
number one priority to sail the open seas of the Atlantic with hopes of catching a
glimpse of the new territory. Once there, they immediately fell in love the land, the
Americas would be the one place in the world where a poor man would be able to
come and create a wealthy living for himself despite his upbringing. Its rich grounds
were perfect for farming popular crops such as tobacco, sugarcane, and cotton.
However, there was only one problem; it would require an abundant amount of
manpower to work these vast lands but the funding for these farming projects was

Situations became more intense for those slaves who actually reached the
plantations over in the Americas. Many of the plantation owners had returned
home to Europe, leaving their holdings (slaves and land) in America to be
managed by overseers who were often unstable. Often times slave families were
split up and they were not allowed to learn to read or write. African men, women,
and children were forced to work with little to eat or drink. From today s perspective
this seemed very inhuman to treat another human being in such a manner. However,
in between the 16th and 19th centuries the harsh treatment of slaves was accepted on
the basis they were not considered ordinary human beings; they were if anything a
sub race a less superior one. Slave labor provided some of the most sought after items
in Atlantic and European trading exchange such as sugar, coffee, and cotton of the
Caribbean; tobacco and rice of North America and lastly gold and sugar of
Portuguese and Spanish South America. These commodities represented about a
third of the value of European trade at the time. Slaves were usually allocated an area
of the plantation for their living quarters. On some plantations the owners would
provide the slaves with housing, on others the slaves had to build their own homes.
Slaves that had to build their own houses tended to make them like the houses they
had had in Africa and they

continued all the way across his back and chest on the left side of his sculpted
body on top of all his body piercings. He appeared as if he was a jacked gym junkie,
however, nothing could be further from the truth. The muscles on his tall frame
were from hard work on the oil rig. His build was also genetic specific to Selkie s;
which he and Torin just happened to be. The men appreciated the warm Southern

Beal Street In Memphis, Tennessee
While walking down Beal Street in Memphis, Tennessee, people watching and
having fun, our group stood at a corner. Some flash of color caught my eye and I

what was so fascinating about junk on the sidewalk. Now, I m not the type of guy
that hangs around art galleries or for the matter, even looks at pictures in a book. I
really like the bright colors and jazzy looking saxophone on the sidewalk and
started looking for more. That s how the conversation start on what is art, what is
not, and just what is graffiti? Most people think of graffiti as vandalism or the
defacing of private property by wild teenagers with spray cans. I had never really

Essay on Shakespeare Alterations from the Original
Macbeth
Mac Bethad mac FindlaГch became king of the Scots after Duncan s killing in 1040
and was murdered in 1057 by Malcolm III in battle . William Shakespeare
immortalized Macbeth and his life story in his famous play which goes by the very
same name: Macbeth. Shakespeare used Holinshed s Chronicles by Raphael
Holinshedas his primary source, the basis for the plot of the play. Shakespeare made
a considerable number of alterations in the story line and form. In this essay, I will
explore what changes Shakespeare made and for what reason.
In Macbeth, a thane Macbeth hears a prophecy by three witches: he will be king.

If Shakespeare had not chosen to alter the not so palatable history he found in the
Chronicles by adding sensational art and more dramatic effect, the play would not
have conveyed the message in the very effective way it does now and with that
emotional appeal, since catching the conscience of Macbeth, and through him, of the
audience was surely a major source of the play s power and a source that helps
immensely to explain why there is so much sensational art in the play.
In addition, the audience needed to be kept intrigued but perhaps a major [other]
purpose of sensational drama was to pare of the brawniness from the consciences of
the audience .
Another major alteration is the different character of Macbeth and Banquo as
portrayed by Shakespeare in comparison to the Chronicles.
Holinshed did not given a sufficient description of Macbeth s character, which is
not odd considering his purpose was to give a historical overview and not an
extensive biography. On the other side of the coin, Shakespeare needed a well
defined character in order to write his play and convey his message, which entails
characters metamorphoses. Therefore, Shakespeare altered Macbeth s character and
added some ideas of his own.
Comparing the Chronicles and Macbeth, there is striking discord regarding Macbeth
s character when he eventually has become king. The Chronicles put forward all
kinds of good laws implemented

Coffee Just Isn t My Cup of Tea
As people kick their tired feet up, comfortably nestle their aching bodies into a
cozy position, what do they do next? Do they chug a mug of energy or sip a cup of
relaxation? In today s society, there has been a distinguishing difference between
people who choose between the beverages of coffee and tea. Further, our drink
preferences let on more than we think at first sip. There are a variety of specialty
stores and aisles in the supermarket because, believe it or not, we have an
indescribable desire for the perfect fix.
After struggling out of bed, most people like Abigail, a coffee enthusiast, wake up
to the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Perhaps it is the sweet aroma, the feel

Cleft Lip
Introduction
Cleft lip is formed when a baby s nose and mouth do not form properly in the
womb. These children are born with deformations to the mouth and nose. There are
four main types of cleft lip that involve incomplete single and double clefts and also
complete single and double clefts that cause deformations completely into the child s
nose. This can cause complications for the child to eat and breathe properly, but a
series of surgeries can fix this complication. The cleft lip is basically a split in the lip
of a baby that occurs on one side or both sides of the nostrils and if completely
formed as a cleft the splits will go all the way into a child s nose or nasal passage and
cause damages to the roof of the mouth (cleft palate). ... Show more content on

For example, China, at that time in 2005 demanded more iron ore for producing
steel as its economy began to grow, in turn, adding to increasing Australian GDP to
3.2% from 2001 GDP of 1.9%. Around 2013 Australians demand for iron ore
decreased and commodity prices began to dwindle. In addition, 7,675 refugees

Guiding the nations monetary systems rests in the hands of the Central Bank of
Australia, known as, The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). The Reserve Bank of
Australia serves to oversee and stabilize the countries economic prosperity, welfare
of its citizen, employment, and finances. Australian has what is call a Floating

the exchange rates. In exchange for lowering the rates, along with government
expenditures helps stabilize Australian inflation rate (2.7% GDP), the welfare of its
citizen (7.3% GDP), regulate unemployment (GDP 6.2% down 2014) and the
finances (5.3 % GDP) of the country (Australian Bureau of Statistics) (Lien).

Both heroes were rewarded for there obedience. Although the stories are similar
they are not identical. In Genesis God sent the Flood to destroy humankind
because of man s wickedness. Unlike The Gilgamesha where the reason was never
said however the sender of the flood was a secret council of gods the idea was
brought up by Enlil , the god of earth wind and air. God favored Noah because he
was a righteous man therefore, he was chosen to build the ark that was three
hundred cubits long, fifty cubit wide, and thirty cubits high, about three stories.
Utnapishtim was chosen out of the cleverness of Ea, the god of wisdom and crafts.
God came directly to Noah to tell him about the Flood where as Ea was swore to
secrecy so he repeated their plans to the reed fence so he would no break the oath
to the group. The boat Utnapishtim was directed to build was a rectangle shaped
measuring one acre and about 6 stories high. When the floor came in Gilgamesh it
was only rainwater however the Flood in Genesis was rain water as well as ground
water. Both floods did indeed wipe out all of humankind but the did not last equal
as long. After the flood Utnapishtim was gifted the gift of eternal life where as Noah
was to multiply and have rule over the animals. The relationship between humans to
Divinity based on the comparing of the two stories is in Genesis as well as
Gilgamesh is that humankind was to be wiped out,

Man s Identity According to Nietszche in Comparison to Marx s and Society s
Definition
Friedrich Nietzsche wrote The Anti Christ as a response to his own outrage
concerning man s Christian influenced values on life. Nietzsche saw Christianity as
the leading cause of the problems with mankind. All the teachings of Christianity
were contrary to the ways in which Nietzsche felt man should act and behave. His
focus in The Anti Christ is on this fact that Christianity is the root of all that is
wrong with the world. His perspective on what defines an individual, particularly an
ideal individual, differs greatly from that of Christian society s definition. Also, in
contrast, Nietzsche s idea of what makes up a man s identity disagrees ... Show more

This society gives each person the same definition of right and wrong, with the
expectation that every individual will comply. Members of society are expected
to fit into the mold and act accordingly. When a person s actions go against society
s norms, the person is punished and looked down upon by the society. Such tools
as the conscience and guilt are used by Christian society to force people into
following its values and rules. Those at the head of Christian society, particularly
Paul, who developed and created their own definitions of good and evil in the
beginning expect other individuals in the future to follow a code of morals that is
not personalized. Therefore these members of society have difficulty following
along with the majority s morals and are then made to feel guilty and evil for having
different ideas of what morality is. In society, particularly Christian society, the idea
of an individual is nonexistent to Nietzsche. Each person is not allowed his own
idea of right and wrong and is expected to follow certain truths that he himself did
not discover, but only accepted as being the truth. Nietzsche saw truth as an
individual discovery or belief that a person must find alone. This internal truth can
only be found if one throws away all prior preconceived notions about morality. By
realizing that man is of this world and a part of nature, a person can focus on this
life. Since Christianity s teachings focus heavily on the

It requires not only a grasp of scientific theories but also an understanding of the social, cultural, and religious implications associated with the topic. Striking the right balance between scientific rigor and accessible language for a broader audience adds an extra layer of complexity. Moreover, staying updated with the latest research findings in the field is essential, as the field of evolutionary biology is dynamic, with new discoveries and debates emerging regularly. Although, Anti Federalists had a lot of good points, Federalists belief in a strong central government, limited powers, and no need for the Bill of Rights, is why it is the better stance. Topics discussed in this essay will be the difference between Federalismand Anti Federalism, each side s opinions on the Bill of Rights, and why Federalism is the better side to be on. For the ratification of the Constitution to happen, nine out of the thirteen states had to approve of it. This divided the delegates into two separate groups, Federalists and Anti Federalists. Federalists wanted a strong central government and immediate ratification of the Constitution. Conversely, Anti Federalists wanted power in the states, not the central government, It is true this government is limited to certain objects, or to speak more properly, some small degree of power is still left to the states, (Brutus I). However, without the promise of the Bill of Rights, many Anti Federalists would have not ratified the

Brandy Breaking My Trust The personal story which I told last week meant a lot for me because it is a story I have been wrestling with because it was something I have been dealing with majority of my first year here at UNC. The story of Brandy breaking my trust and our friendship caused me to re evaluate most of my friendships and caused me to be angry with myself and those around me for some time. In the last few weeks I grasp the idea in which I couldn t blame my previous friends because of a betrayal of our friendship, but this betrayal did reshape any relationship I will create throughout my life. • 7. Sirius Research Paper Introduction Sirius is in the Canis Major constellation. Sirius is known as the Dog Star and is the brightest star in our night sky. Sirius is double the size of our sun and at least seven thousand degrees hotter than it as well. Not only that but Sirius A is also 20 times brighter than our sun. It is about 8.5 light years away and the closest star other than the sun. Sirius has a companion star called, Sirius B or The Pup. Sirius sits very low in the sky and is extremely easy to spot in the dark evenings and usually during the summer dog days which are between July 3rd and August 11th and cold winter nights. History of discovery The Sun is one astronomical unit away so in actuality, it s 0.00001581 light years away. Sirius looks smaller than the sun because it s almost 9 light years away, which means it s 92,919,000 or the astronomical units away. Sirius has a dwarf or twin star next to it, this star is called Sirius B. Sirius B was assumed to exist in 1844 but it wasn t actually discovered until almost 18 years later! ... Sirius B is what our Sun will turn into one day, since it, Sirius B, was at one time or another, similar to our Sun. More research is being done to increase the knowledge we have on Sirius B, because there is very little information on it but it was discovered more than 150 years ago. NASA believes that with the technology and telescope equipment they have, they can create a whole telescope that could potentially be used to learn more about The Pup , Sirius

According to (https://www.google.com /#q=buddhismBuddhism) is a non theistic religion or philosophy that encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices largely based on teachings attributed to the Buddha. Buddhisminhabits several traits that consider it a religion and a philosophy. There is not a clear distinction that defines buddhism as one or the other. Some practices of Buddhism display faith and belief which are qualities of religion and other practices display reality, existence and knowledge which are qualities of philosophy. Trying to separate religion from philosophy does not work well in the case of Buddhism. According to (https://www.google.com/#q=religion) religion is a cultural system of behaviors, practices, world views, ethics and social organization that relate humanity to an order of existence. Buddhism is considered a religion because it does in fact involve elements of self transformation, faith and belief. It has a core set of beliefs that are common to almost all branches of buddhism. Buddhism clearly defines a mythology, a soteriology, and a eschatology which is what religion consists of. Much of Mahayana Buddhism is religious for example, Pure Land Buddhism has many parallels to the theistic religions. Buddhism contains an explanation of the origin of existence, a morality and a specific set or
  • 9. Charles Dickens Oliver Twist, And The Parish Boy s... Many critics today consider Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, or, The Parish Boy s Progress, as being a commentary of both society s treatment and view of the lower class in the 19th century. In the early 1800 s a Poor Law was put in place, saying that each parish was required to care for their poor within the area. Many viewed this as the lower class being lazy and lacking ambition. Dickens uses irony to comment on the society s belief that the lower class were fated to remain in that manner. The use of irony occurs throughout the novel, becoming present in the beginning of the story when Oliver s mother is in labour. Upon his birth Oliver is described as being unequally poised amid this world and the next (1). In this passage Dickens juxtaposes Oliver between living the life he has just been born into, and death, assuming to be reincarnated and born into the next , presumably better, life. He then furthers this contrast by comparing the situation Oliver found himself in, being birthed by a woman who was rendered rather misty and a parish surgeon who he notes worked by contract (1). The alliteration used in the former brings emphasis to the company Oliver is in during such a crucial time, with a woman who is drunk and a surgeon who is there as he has no other choice. The author again juxtaposes Oliver s lonesome and melancholic situation to the ideal situation of childbirth, with careful grandmothers, anxious aunts, experienced nurses, and doctors of profound

There are several documentaries we watched in class that show that documentaries don t all fall under the same assumptions. A common assumption about documentaries is that there is no imagination needed. In a time when the major media recycle the same stories on the same subjects over and over, when they risk little in formal innovation, when they remain beholden to powerful sponsors with their own political agendas and restrictive demands, it is the independent documentary filmthat has brought a fresh eye to the events of the world and told stories, with verve and imagination, that broaden limited horizons and awaken new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though they are real people we weren t really seeing who they are. A documentary film is not made up; it shows what really happens in real life; shows things as they are naturally are. This statement is not completely true. The story a documentary tells stems from the historical world but it is still told from the filmmaker s perspective and in the filmmaker s voice. This is a matter of degree, not a black and white division. (Nichols, 12) In these cases the stories told speak about the actual events directly, not allegorically, and the film adheres to the known historical facts. Social actors, people, present themselves in fluid, negotiated, revealing ways. (Nichols,12) According to Nichols documentaries are true events but the filmmaker shapes what we see into what they want us to see. We are getting the perspective of the directors. An example of movie watched in class was Nanook of the North, even though the people were real, some of the scenes seemed staged. The director wants us to see Nanook and his people behind on technology and still living in the past. There is the scene were one of them is biting a disc, it seems the director is trying to make us believe these people are way behind and primitive. Another scene that helps prove that not everything caught on camera happens naturally is when Nanook sees all the other eskimos going

As reported by the U.S. Justice Department, there has been significant increase in incarcerated African American males, in comparison to Hispanic and White males. It is believed that social interaction, area of residency, and social networks have major influence on the increasing crime and incarceration rates of African Americanmales. A larger portion of White males hold more positions within the U.S. Judicial system than African American males who make up a larger population of prison inmates and less involvement in legislation. This coincides with data suggesting that African American s have lower percentages of receiving or obtaining higher education, placing them in areas of low income and less opportunities. Social inequality in the judicial system is questioned as well as demographics and economics will be researched in order to provide in depth analysis of these national percentages of African Americans. Additional research is conducted to investigate circumstances once an African American male enters the criminal judicial system, and a generational cycle of crime. There is more knowledge and potential opportunities within the prison system versus the lack of resources these prisoners would feel they would have upon their release. The Judicial system appears to be White male dominated due to factors regarding higher education, as well as opportunities or resources to pursue careers of higher statuses. Science Fiction, Melodrama and Western Intersect in David Lynch s Dune A genre is a grouping of works, in this context a grouping of films, that are somehow similar or related in content or style. Genres are not strictly uniform over a period of time and do allow for growth and adaptation of their definitive characteristics. As the film industry has developed through the past century, various genres of films have emerged and are still evolving. Melodrama, as a film genre, is deeply rooted in the institution of the family and various incarnations and evolved states of the family unit. Familial issues arise more often in science fiction than has been widely acknowledged. The futuristic universe of Dune and all of the action of the film is motivated by inter and intra familial conflicts and resolutions. Science fiction, at times, appears to be merely a scientific or futuristic setting for the same kind of melodrama film that has been made for years. However, according to Westfahl, science fiction reconstructed melodrama in a manner which complicated and undermined its traditional clarity (193). Thus whereas in a melodrama such as The Cobweb, the initial conflict of the narrative is merely left unresolved (but on an optimistic beat), in the science fiction melodrama, the film is ended with a hopelessly compromised happy ending (Westfahl, 203). Such is the case with Dune: as the film closes, rain pours down on the desert planet. The rain is meant to represent a positive miracle and something that is desirable, but the fact that rain would turn the desert sand to mud, potentially drowning and killing the giant worms and thus ending all spice production is ignored. The ending leaves the film on a happy note, but the ending has not resolved the film: it had added more conflict to be resolved. Dune is

All educational policies, says the Framework, should stipulate that disabled children attend the neighbourhood school, that would be attended if the child did not have a disability. (UNESCO, 1994., p.24) There is seemingly little doubt that the catalyst for inclusion within the English system lies in the sentiments outlined in the Salamanca Statement. As Hornby, (2002)., asserts, The statement has resulted in what, at times, appears to be a tidal wave of inclusion intent preached with overpowering zeal by the church of inclusion. (p.7) It is observable, though, that despite this missionary zeal the implementation of inclusionary practices, within the English system, began slowly. Although some might argue that the last Conservative government, through the Code of Practice (DFE, 1994), encouraged children with special educational needs to join fully with their peers in the curriculum and the life of the setting (p.11), others contended that: the code only addressed identification and standardisation in an attempt to end the vagueness of special educational needs, previously delivered through a postcode lottery of provision. Within philosophical and scientific circles, discussions of the mind and body have supplanted discussions of what constitutes the world around us. Staggering technological innovation, alongside the establishment of superior of scientific research methodologies, has given rise to this philosophical trend Identity Theory is, indeed, the culmination of this trend. Throughout the course of this essay I will both define and defend Identity Theory against what I consider to be two superficially convincing counter arguments; namely, the invocation of the Leibniz Law (otherwise referred to as The Identity of Indiscernibles) and The Problem of Other Minds . Though seemingly persuasive, the invocation of the Leibniz Law, at its core, consists of a semantic trick. As a general ontological principle the Leibniz Law may possess some validity; in its specific application to Identity Theory however, it remains destitute of substance. On the other hand, The Problem of Other Minds relies on a radical scepticism irreconcilable with current understandings of the brain. Based on the degree of scientific knowledge available regarding the composition of the brain, Identity Theory, at this time, provides a logical and coherent account of the relationship between mindand body. The Identity Theory of Mind asserts that states and processes of the mind

Many of the plantation owners had returned home to Europe, leaving their holdings (slaves and land) in America to be managed by overseers who were often unstable. Often times slave families were split up and they were not allowed to learn to read or write. African men, women, and children were forced to work with little to eat or drink. From today s perspective this seemed very inhuman to treat another human being in such a manner. However, in between the 16th and 19th centuries the harsh treatment of slaves was accepted on the basis they were not considered ordinary human beings; they were if anything a sub race a less superior one. Slave labor provided some of the most sought after items in Atlantic and European trading exchange such as sugar, coffee, and cotton of the Caribbean; tobacco and rice of North America and lastly gold and sugar of Portuguese and Spanish South America. These commodities represented about a third of the value of European trade at the time. Slaves were usually allocated an area of the plantation for their living quarters. On some plantations the owners would provide the slaves with housing, on others the slaves had to build their own homes. Slaves that had to build their own houses tended to make them like the houses they had had in Africa and they

Another major alteration is the different character of Macbeth and Banquo as portrayed by Shakespeare in comparison to the Chronicles. Holinshed did not given a sufficient description of Macbeth s character, which is not odd considering his purpose was to give a historical overview and not an extensive biography. On the other side of the coin, Shakespeare needed a well defined character in order to write his play and convey his message, which entails characters metamorphoses. Therefore, Shakespeare altered Macbeth s character and added some ideas of his own. Comparing the Chronicles and Macbeth, there is striking discord regarding Macbeth s character when he eventually has become king. The Chronicles put forward all kinds of good laws implemented

This society gives each person the same definition of right and wrong, with the expectation that every individual will comply. Members of society are expected to fit into the mold and act accordingly. When a person s actions go against society s norms, the person is punished and looked down upon by the society. Such tools as the conscience and guilt are used by Christian society to force people into following its values and rules. Those at the head of Christian society, particularly Paul, who developed and created their own definitions of good and evil in the beginning expect other individuals in the future to follow a code of morals that is not personalized. Therefore these members of society have difficulty following along with the majority s morals and are then made to feel guilty and evil for having different ideas of what morality is. In society, particularly Christian society, the idea of an individual is nonexistent to Nietzsche. Each person is not allowed his own idea of right and wrong and is expected to follow certain truths that he himself did not discover, but only accepted as being the truth. Nietzsche saw truth as an individual discovery or belief that a person must find alone. This internal truth can only be found if one throws away all prior preconceived notions about morality. By realizing that man is of this world and a part of nature, a person can focus on this life. Since Christianity s teachings focus heavily on the
