The Modern World
There are many challenges in the modern world. Education has been one of the biggest challenges
throughout history and continues to still be a challenge around the world. There is much competition,
especially between countries and churches over who had the best education system, but it is nearly
impossible to determine what the best educational system entails, which is one of the many
challenges. Education has always been major topic among churches across the world. Some of the
main objectives of the church are explained in Holy Longing by R. Rolheiser, which uses five
metaphors to describe the church. One of the metaphors that Rolheiser used describes how the church
is like a rope in that it leads us to where we want to go and where we will succeed (Rolheiser 1999).
The church is a place that will help guide and lead you as a rope would. Churches provide many tools
and programs that are designed to help educate and guide people.
It had been ever present that the number of people who attend mass has been declining over the years.
At present in Australia, about forty per cent of Catholics attend mass at some time during the year:
approximately twenty three per cent attend at least once a month; with about eighteen per cent
attending on anyone Sunday... there has been a steady decline in attendance, of approximately two and
a half to three per cent each year (Brown 2000).
The decrease in people attending mass is due to the gap between biblical culture and contemporary

Ann Taylor s target market primarily comprises of ages between 30 years and 60 years to whom, the
company offers a plethora of work related apparel and accessories. LOFT s target market comprises of
18 to 34 year olds who have a wide variety of casual work related (can be used for other purposes)
apparel and accessories. Although the two divisions cater to different target markets, their primary
purpose is to provide to the working customer. Ann Taylor s expansion into value based divisions
(LOFT and its clearance centers) has captured the value market. The pricing at LOFT is about 30%
lower than its sister concept, Ann Taylor. The outlets too, have captured the market that comprises of
consumers seeking deeper value over traditional pricing and stores. The corporation added more value
to these clearance centers, by creating private labels for the outlet centers. All the three divisions have
proven to be a success among consumers. A third strength of the company would be its marketing
strategies through celebrity associations. Some of the biggest celebrities like Heidi Klum, Milla

Dave Egger s Zeitoun

In the novel, Zeitoun and his wife, Kathy Zeitoun, seem to have a stable and loving relationship, But
in recent years, the stable, loving relationship between Mr. Zeitoun and his wife, Kathy, that was
described in the 2009 best seller has taken a series of dark turns. The couple divorced last year after he
was convicted of assaulting her. And on Wednesday, the New Orleans police charged him with
plotting to have Kathy Zeitoun, her son and another man murdered. (Brown, Katrina Hero Facing
Charges in New Orleans). When the phrase has taken a series of dark turns is used, it s usually to
reveal that a situation took a turn for the worse, and if that s the case, Eggers should ve let the readers

Themes In Destroying Avalon
Destroying Avalon is a novel written by Kate McCaffery and is intended for teenagers and young
adults. The main focus of the novel are the issues surrounding cyber bullying in high schools. Whilst
there are numerous themes embedded in this novel bullying is by far the most important to the story.
This is demonstrated through the cyber bullying campaign, the physical attacks and the verbal
harassment endured by both victims. A cyber bullying campaign was started against Avalon (the
protagonist) within the first few days of her new high school, and continues as a huge part of the story,
inspiring many of the chapters. These are seen through the many blog posts about her on the internet;
Meet Avalon: she s new, she s smart and she s completely up herself. I had to listen to her go on about
herself and afterwards had to spew violently in the toilet. The girl is a slut... (More) by dragon girl.

the story. While cyber bullying is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

British Rule in India and the Response of Indian Society
India is a country that is rich in culture and spiritual beliefs. This all changed when the British landed
a company that not only changed the societal business but also the government rule as well as their
cultural aspects. This company was named the East India Company. With its gradual expansion, the
company managed to build English communities in Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras; the three
presidency states of India. Although the East India Company s intentions where to pursue and expand
trade with the East Indies, they manage to gain control of India by utilizing military power. The
appointed governor general of this company was Warren Hasting who established the base of British
India as a controlled government system. Many Indian s were ... Show more content on

nation state was going to be divided. The Partition of Bengal was developed in 1905 by a Viceroy
named Lord Curzon. It was encourage for administrative motives. Due to its enormous population, it
was hard to manage. The government thought it would been a good idea to divide Bengal into two
because they know that they can never mix Hindu s and Muslim s together. Muslim s highly favored
this partition due to having a dominated control over the area, while Hindus opposed it because they
did not want Muslim s to have much of a control over them. The Hindus protest against this partition
led to Muslims forming a Muslim organization called the All Muslim League. Muslims wanted to
secure their place in eastern Bengal. Muhammed Ali Jinnah was the leader whom tried to unite the
Muslims and Hindus to gain the independence of India. But he failed to unite the two nations and in a

Snow Falling On Cedars Racism
Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson is a novel that follows Kabuo Miyamoto, a veteran of the
Vietnam War. Throughout the novel, Kabuo and his family must face some of the hardships of the war
and it s consequences. War is a recurring theme in this novel that seems to directly influence not only
the veterans and their families, but the American society as a whole. Three ways war impacts lives are
through the enhancement of racism, separation of family, and trauma.
In Snow Falling on Cedars, the San Piedro community had been passively racist towards the Japanese
citizens throughout the entirety of the novel. While the community was not overtly racist to the
Japanese citizens, they did not stand up for the injustices put upon the Japanese. ... Show more content

Before the bombings, the war, and the chaos, Ishmael and Hatsue were teenagers in love. The two
rebellious teens would sit inside a cedar tree for hours and talk about the world. There had already
been pre existing complications in their relationship such as Hatsue s mother, who discouraged Hatsue
from talking to white boys such as Ishmael. However, after the draft began and the bombings
occurred, the chance of Hatsue and Ishmael carrying out a wholesome relationship went from
somewhat likely to almost nonexistent. Because the war resulted in Hatsue being shipped off to an
internment camp, she and Ishmael would be unable to meet each other in their secret cedar tree on the
beachside. Instead, the two lovers would separate further and have to write to each other, leaving room
for the possibility of someone discovering their letters and intervening. That exact scenario happened
when a letter from Ishmael reached the internment camp which Hatsue was being held captive in. Her
mother read Ishmael Chamber s letter standing in the middle of the tar paper hut with one hand on her
forehead. While she read her lips moved rapidly. Her eyes blinked severely and often (223). Hatsue s
mother became furious with the letter and demanded that Hatsue write a letter to Ishmael immediately

What Is Rawls Definition Of Justice
Rawls definition of justice differs from Aristotle s definition. According to Aristotle, justice is viewed
as the condition when a person follows the law and is fair. Justice often times deals with money and
honor. Specifically, he defines two types of justice distributive and reciprocity. Distributive justice
means that the amount of wealth a person has is directly related to the person s merit. While,
reciprocity justice means that if there is disproportional ratio of gains and deficits, there will be a
balance to even out the disproportional aspect of this kind of justice. For example, if a man is cheated
by another man and loses money, he can go to court to fight his case and there will be a judge who
decides. While, Rawls definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previously, silent comedy films would poke fun at the lower class and because of the nature of not
having any sound; it depicted the lower class as barbaric and country bumpkin. However, with sound,
the films were able to depict the realistic differences caused by class because it was no longer just
funny movements. There was substance. Trading Places also depicted the class status of the different
characters. When the film first introduced Valentine, he was physically shorter than the rest of the
actors, (because he pretended to have no legs to gain sympathy for money), to depict that he is from a
lower class. His clothes were also not as crisp as the wealthy people s. He was not in a suit and tie.
When Valentine was led into his new home, he kept putting things in his pocket because he did not
believe that the home was his. When we see the Duke Brothers being introduced, they are sitting a
room filled of fancy books and furniture. They also spoke in an exaggerated snobbish tone to depict
their wealth off backgrounds. Another thing is that when they panned into the club that the men were
in, it was mostly filled with other white men from other Ivy leagues. The help who bought them the
tea was a person of color. The film depicted the different class statuses in the very introduction of the
movie. Although, it may have appeared exaggerated with the snobbish tone of voice, the truth is that
some people do talk like that, but not as severe. Beach s argument is clearly conveyed in Trading

Characterization And Internal Characterism In Kurt...
The world isn t perfect, true but it shouldn t have to be, we are humans and we make mistakes.
Sometimes we wish everything could be perfect, yet that may end up making things worse. We
shouldn t try to be perfect like Dr. Hitz thinks it should be. We should just be thankful for what we
have now. In 2BRO2B, Kurt Vonnegut uses characterization and internal conflict to stress the idea
sometimes things aren t as perfect as they seem. Kurt Vonnegut uses Characterization to develop the
fact that things aren t as perfect as they seem. He does this by mentioning different points of views for
different characters. He or she is going to live on a happy, roomy, clean, rich planet, thanks to
population control. Dr. Hitz says how good of a life Wehling s child is going to live due to population
control, this shows how he views population control. Dr. Hitz believes that having set up the very first
gas chamber for population control is an accomplishment. Leora Duncan admires Dr. Hitz and that s
why she s beyond thankful to stand next to him in the portrait being painted of the happy garden of
life. This shows how some people feel about Dr. Hitz and honor him for making the first gas chamber.
Wehling, on the other hand, thinks it s wrong when he has to pick which of his three children he wants
to live because he only has one volunteer to be executed in the gas chamber. All I have to do is pick
out which one of the triplets is going to live, then deliver my maternal grandfather to

Analysis Of Disney s If Disney Ran Your Hospital Essay
When I just looked at the title of this book If Disney Ran Your Hospital 9 1/2 Things You Would Do
Differently , I was pretty skeptical. No way. A hospital is neither a fun place nor entertainment. We
deal with lives. Responsibility is huge. But, Mr. Fred Lee, the author of this book, was very well
aware of that. He hit every single point I wanted to argue. Going to read the book, a lot of relevant
memories came up in my mind since I had worked for a hospital for a long time. I was convinced that
Disney s approach to quality improvement is applicable to hospital management. Out of 9 1/2 things, I
would like to talk about three actions that left marks on me with my experience: service vs.
experience, rewards to motivate people and closing the gap between knowing and doing.
The emergency department (ED) I worked for was a Level I Trauma Center, so patients were
transferred by ambulances, most of whom were in very severe conditions, such as cardio pulmonary
arrest, unconsciousness and multiple trauma. There was no room for patients to choose a hospital.
Roughly a third of patients coming to the emergency room (ER) died unfortunately. The other third
admitted to the intentional care unit (ICU), and the remains stayed at other wards in the hospital or
went back their home in a few days. In the ICU, the patients were laid on the beds that were lined
toward walls and separated on the side from their next patients with only roll curtains hanging from
the ceiling. Hence, they can

Home Message For Children And Parents
A key take home message is that preschool children (ages 3 4) need to engage in 60 minutes of
physical activity a day, in order to enhance their health and well being (Gabbard Rodrigues, 2008;
Canada Sport for Life, 2005; Oliver et al., 2007). However, this message is more aimed at the parents
of preschool children, because it is their responsibility to ensure that their child is participating in an
adequate amount of exercise (Klesges et al., 1990). Parents have demonstrated a positive correlation to
the physical activity of their children (Klesges et al., 1990). Therefore, those parents that provide their
children with a lack of encouragement, will notice decreased physical activity among their children
(Klesges et al., 1990). Consequently, parents need to support their children to engage in 60 minutes of
physical activity a day, in order to improve their health.
This is an important message for children and parents, as it aims to enhance the well being and health
of preschool aged children (Oliver et al., 2007). Participating in regular physical activity improves
bone health, aerobic fitness, and it is beneficial for the development of fundamental motor skills
(Oliver et al., 2007). Bone health is increased due to physical activity, because exercise provides bones
with more strength. This is important because as you get old your bones weaken, however if you begin
exercising during preschool years, you have a higher chance of making physical activity a habit,
which will

Analysis Of Before I Fall
Before I Fall directed by Ry Russo Young and written by Maria Maggenti is a teen drama film
released in 2017 that is about a teenage girl who lives the same day over and over again. Despite
having a compelling lead performance played by Zoe Deutch and a powerful soundtrack full of
ballads, Before I Fall still took a turn with a generic plot line, choppy dialogue and cliché. Although I
loved the performance given by Deutch and how she was able to show the characters development
through emotions and her acting, that still doesn t mean the movie was perfect.
The movie was like Mean Girls put through a time loop. Before I Fall deals with a teenage girl forced

Sam s whole story is that she s a mean girl who realizes that maybe she shouldn t be mean to people.
(by the way it took her too long to figure out that maybe Juliet was the reason she was living the same
day over and over again). The mind irking thing is that she never once told her friends that they should
stop bullying Juliet or try to befriend her. Instead, she presents this half played, pitiful redemption that
leaves the audience thinking that it was an act of heroism (I begged a differ).
There are moments in Before I Fall where the dialogue lacked intelligence. It was almost as if the
director wanted to be quick and get to the point of creating a movie that deals with time loop, and not
think twice about whether the dialogue should make sense. There s a scene in the movie where Sam is
thinking back on the last 24 hours of her life before the car accident where her and the other three girls
are bullying Juliet, and then she says this line That was forever ago... that was yesterday. There were
reasons that the audience watching this film to think okay that doesn t make sense. Saying something
forever ago and that it happened yesterday just contradicts itself, the line I think should have been

To Give or Not to Give in The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
In his early childhood, a boy spends his time playing with his favorite tree, climbing its trunk, and
swinging from its branches. As the boy approaches adolescence, he desires money and the tree yields
its apples for him to sell. At adulthood, he yearns for a home and the tree offers its branches for the
man to build his home. At middle age, he asks the tree for a boat and the tree offers its trunk, which
the man cuts to build his boat. During his final years, the old man asks the tree for a quiet place to sit
and rest, and the tree offers its stump.

So how do we begin the journey of giving wisely? We suggest that clients begin with self discernment.
Why do you wish to give?
What values or principles do you and your family hold dear? What are some of the ideas, persons, or
events that molded you?
To whom do you want to give, and why? What impact would you want your giving to have on others?
What do you expect to gain from your family giving?
How much time and personal involvement do you want to commit to your giving?
These questions flush out the motivations and values underlying the gift and reveal its intent.
Understanding each other s personalities, the compatibility of goals, and the interpersonal abilities
helps participants collaborate for the benefit of a shared vision. The philosophy behind your giving
can become vulnerable and unprotected without a clearly defined intent. Trust agreements, wills, and
articles of incorporation may be insufficient to ensure fidelity to your philanthropic mission. Donors
investing the necessary time to consider these questions lay a strong foundation for defining a shared
vision and framework that will help fuel the act of giving, in a manner that is both constructive and
enduring for generations.
Now that you ve discovered and clarified your values and motivations, the next step is to articulate
your philanthropic purpose through a

A Dystopian Future in Brave New World Essay examples
Brave New World is a remarkable journey into the future wherein mankind is dehumanized by the
progress and misuse of technology to the point where society is a laboratory produced race of beings
who are clones devoid of identity only able to worship the three things they have been preconditioned
to love: Henry Ford, their idol; Soma, a wonder drug; and sex (Dusterhoof, Guynn, Patterson, Shaw,
Wroten and Yuhasz 1). The misuse of perfected technologies, especially those allowing the

Regardless of the progress of technology, the real issue is not the capabilities and potential uses of
new sciences. The real issue, as it is in Brave New World, is that there will always exist those who use
new technologies for personal gain, evil pursuits and as an attempt to maintain power and control (like
the State does in Brave New World). The ideal concept may be a state of stability that it unchanging,
but this comes from our own internal dichotomy between a need for stability and the conflict with the
instability of being real. No state has ever achieved such a stable condition in the history of mankind
anyway, Historically, no actual political state has ever achieved stability and only a very few have

characteristics and behavior (like manipulating a baby s sex or sexuality), who would choose to allow
this power in only the hands of a few, powerful interests? What would stop powerful white monied
interests from trying to rid society of supposed undesirables like blacks, Hispanics, homosexuals or

truly useful purpose is achievable without them. Some contend that no loss of humanity is involved in

India s Economic Impact On India Essay
As previously stated, Britain s economic interest in India had begun in the 1600 s when the British
East India Company set up trading posts in several Indian cities such as Madras, Bombay, and
Calcutta (Age of Imperialism 2012). At first, the Mughal dynasty which ruled India at the time, had
kept European traders under control. But by 1707, the Mughal dynasty had begun to collapse and
many small states began to break away from under the control of the Mughal dynasty. In 1757, Robert
Clive led the East India Company troops to a swift and decisive victory over Indian defence forces
along with the French at the Battle of Plassey. From then on, the British East India Company was the
leading power in India (Age of Imperialism 2012).
Throughout the 18th and 19th century, many events have taken place in the world. One of these events
was the industrial revolution starting in England and then eventually spreading to other countries in
Europe (Chauhan 1989: 109). This economic impact affected India because of how an English man by
the name of Thomas Stevens managed to motivate four of London s traders to travel to India. The
industrial revolution allowed for Britain to obtain the raw materials for its monopoly of factories that
they were in need of as well as a location to sell their valuable goods. What occurred after was a
struggle of power in 18th century India. The Mughal empire was declining in forces which gave the
British the power to take full control due to their large

Causes And Effects Of Social Media
Causes and Effects of Social Media There is no denying that the expansions of the World Wide Web
and social media have skyrocketed in the last few years. It all started with the birth of MySpace for
Generation Z in 2003. It then happened again later in 2004, when Mark Zuckerburg created the most
commonly known and used Facebook, which then led to the launch of Twitter in 2006. Ultimately,
what all of this is saying, is that the effects of social media have impacted the lives of many since
2003. All of these social sites piggyback off of one another and it has created a nation that has become
dependent on the use of social media. People are using social media as a way to get their news, instead

This birth was known as Twitter. Twitter was launched in 2006. The purpose of Twitter was to create a
mini blogging site, hence the reason that its users are limited to 140 characters per tweet. In 2009, it
was ranked as the top 3 social sites out of the ones mentioned and multiple more. As time progressed,
Instagram was released in 2010. Instagram is similar to Facebook because one is able to share
photographs, but that is Instagram s sole purpose. Instagram allows the users to upload photos, edit
those photos, and write captions to go along with them. Moving along, in 2011, a different form of
social media came out. The famous Snapchat that quickly escalated. Snapchat allows one to send and
receive snapchats that dissolve after 10 seconds or less. It began where one could only send pictures
and receive them, but then the creators attended the instant messaging part. The messages, much like
the pictures, are gone as soon as one is finished it with it. It is easy to see how quickly social media
progressed and in a very small time frame. The impact social media has made is very evident and it
has created a never ending list of possibilities because of this drastic expansion. Since social media
surfaced, it has created many new opportunities, whether it be for businesses or just keeping up to date

The Government Protecting Citizens from Corruption
Introduction The fundamental ground of our democracy is The First Amendment that gives its citizens
the promise of freedom of expression. The First Amendment may be seen as a concept of basic
freedom, which carries the idea that it, is more important to practice rather than to protect it.
Regardless if a person is liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, the role within the United
States government is to carry out essential responsibilities its citizens cannot perform. The United
States citizens are responsible of electing politicians into government positions to solve the problems
the country faces. One of those problems is corruption.
The power of money is at the center of political corruption and even though fraud has been in
existence for a long time, in recent years it has become a lot worse. In the past when politicians sought
to run for office each individual had to raise a few thousand dollars, businesses in the past were
smaller, manageable and the risk factors were minimal. Currently political contributions run in the
millions, making Washington a booming business. Most of the money that is raised goes to lobbyist,
campaign aids, deceiving PR operations, and pretentious grass roots groups. The American citizens
have felt the repercussion with the political and lobbying establishments who are now in control of the
public debates and the policy making process all for the benefit of the well financed special interest
groups. My paper will focus on how the

Descriptive Essay About My Dog
Vincenzio Olson
Presswood
Accelerated English
I looked at my dog and made eye contact with his large brown eyes. Time seemed to slow down as I
read his eyes like an open book. I still remember the look today, while I was laying on the couch next
to him. It was the most terrifying sight I ve ever seen. My dog, my best friend, and the only thing to
trust me with everything calmly could show that he had accepted death. For me though he was still
could wagging his tail for us. The night I saw this was October 22nd at 8:02 PM. This dog changed
my entire perspective on life. He was a dog that could instantly make a room bloom as a flower
would, but with joy. He loved life and those around him and that caused us to love him so much.

I was thinking about how Journey must feel. Journey had a cancerous tumor the size of a baseball in
him. It was in a horrible spot, right on where is small intestine meets his large intestine. My dog would
need to be out down or else he would starve to death. After I finished eating and cleared my place, I
pulled out Journey s dish. Everyday I tried to feel him a little of something to eat but the only thing it
seemed he could keep down was broth. Plain, smelly, brown, beef broth. Today, he only ate a little
barely two spoonfuls and nothing else. Journey was too sick to eat.
I remember a week or so earlier when my mom came home after bringing Journey home from the vet.
There were so many tears that day. She told me that Journey had a tumor where his large and small
intestine met. The tumor was baseball sized and because of its size, was blocking part of his digestive
system. Basically, Journey was going to starve to death if we didn t put him down. The shards of
memory from that day rushed back to me as Journey refused to eat anymore. Come on big guy! I said
as I ushered Journey upstairs. As he struggled to get up the stairs onto his designated spot, it scared me
that he went from being an energetic, hyper dog into this.I didn t know how to feel, I just felt like a
shell, empty, emotionless, lost on an island where I ve never been, alone. I had not the slightest idea
what to do and that gave me a sense of hopelessness. I sat down, next to

Rejection Of Evil
As a soul living in a manipulative society, this has made me consider who really is the cause of the
evil of the world. The American government we have been co existing with has made it seem that the
other countries, China, Russia, and Middle Eastern counties, have power and wish to destroy the
Americans. But the American government itself, are the destroyers. The control over human life is
now in the hands of the top dogs of America, and we don t know exactly who they are. They can
control energy, food supply, education, healthcare, and pretty much every aspect of the human
experience. My evil is a system that has mysteriously and deceptively trickled their way into our
mentality to make us think we need them, but they need us. Resisting this evil force, is done through
acknowledgement and being aware of who and what the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone must express their true thoughts of situations that affect society and one once there is

Colonialism By Hernan Cortes Summary
Colonialism, according to Webster s dictionary, is the policy or practice of acquiring full or partial
political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically (1).
Hernan Cortes was a Spanish conquistador, who against the wishes of the crown, set out on an
expedition in 1519 to conquer a new world. Hernan Cortes came with the sole intent to conquer and
economically exploit the new world he intended to conquer. Wikipedia does a decent job at providing
reliable information, but I would argue that there are multiple areas the author can expand on to help
expand the perspective beyond that of a bias. The first suggestion that I would make in this Wikipedia
article would be to provide a more objective view of the native allies/allies, to get an all encompassing
idea of what actually happened. The perspective of this article is that of the Spanish conquistador,
while acknowledging that the author gives nods to various indigenous groups. This is shown through
the authors use of providing only surface level claims, not revealing the true intentions of Cortes
Expedition. In the text, there is a claim made by Cortés that stated the natives think of us as gods, or
godlike beings because the Aztecs and Montezuma thought Cortés was the Aztec god Quatizquatoal
returning. The description of the interaction is mentioned when the author states that Cortes attempted
to frighten the Aztec delegation with a display of his firepower (), this use

A Visit At San Jose Buddhist Church
Awakening For this experience, I decided to explore Buddhism in order to enhance my involvement

aspect and diversity that it had to offer. In order to explore this religion from a critical and analytical

San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin main temple is located in the Japantown section of Central San

community. It is one of the oldest temples established in the United States. In order to learn more
about the history, environment, and community as a whole, I decided to contact the temple s staffs.
After a brief phone call, I was able to schedule a tour. In preparation, I decided to do a brief research
on Buddhism to familiarize myself with the religion beforehand. With all preparations and research
necessary, I was ready to visit San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin.

The female apologetic suggests that female athletic involvement is tolerable as long as traditional
notions of femininity are present (Pierman, 2005; Roth Basow,2004). The AAGPBL had to present

overall look of the uniform was intended to remind fans that they were not only watching real
baseball, but real girls (Draeger, 1997). Players were issued an 11 page Guide for All American Girls:
How to Look Better, Feel Better, Be More Popular along with a beauty kit (Charm School). They were
given instructions in putting on makeup, how to get in and out of a car gracefully, how to speak
correctly, and how to make proper conversations in social settings (Fincher, 1989). Clothing
guidelines were issued, as well as a 10 step suggested beauty routine for after the games. Many
females were denied from being able to join the AAGPBL if they looked masculine. Back then, being
labeled masculine as a female meant they did not meet the expectations of beauty. This raised the
question of, whether or not the exclusion of the masculine looking athletes compromised the power
statistics of the league. The answer to this question still remains unknown because it is controversial.
Joining the All American Girls Professional Baseball League brought a new opportunity for females.

marching throughout the kingdom. It was the army of Florence. People were running and screaming in
terror as the army were pointing their guns at innocent civilians. He panicked and told his students to
stay calm and in their seats as he went out to warn Ferdinand and Miranda. Prospero took off out of

Informative Essay On Chlamydia
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium chlamydia
trachomatis, which can infect both men and women. Someone may get chlamydia by having vaginal,
oral or anal sex with someone already infected. According to Planned Parenthood, an organization that
provides sexual health care in the United States, stated, Close to 3 million Americans get it every year,
most commonly among 14 24 year olds . Most people are unaware they re infected due to no showings
of any symptoms. If your sex partner is male you can still get chlamydia even if he does not ejaculate.
A woman s reproductive system can become permanently damaged if left untreated, which can make
it difficult or even impossible to get pregnant in the future. You may get infected again with chlamydia
even if you were treated in the past by having unprotected sex with someone who is infected. Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the nation s health protection agency, saves lives and
protects people from health, safety, and security threats, stated that, If you are sexually active, you can
do the following things to lower your chances of getting chlamydia; be in a long term mutually
monogamous relationship with a partner who has been tested and has negative STD test results; Use

The Rebuttal of the Single Story in Wide Sargasso Sea
Jean Rhys s iconic novel, Wide Sargasso Sea, is the compelling and unofficial prequel to Jane Eyre by
Charlotte Brontë. It provides the backstory of Mr. Rochester s creole first wife, also known as the
madwoman in the attic or Antoinette. As a creole herself, Rhy was inspired to write Wide Sargasso
Sea with the express intention of giving greater dimension to the caricatured woman depicted in Jane
Eyre. She succeeds in doing this by documenting Antoinette s descent into madness as a result of her
abusive relationships rather than a genetic condition related to her racial identity. Rhys s desire to

Antoinette allows herself to be swayed too easily, and as a result resigns what little free will she did
have by finally agreeing to the marriage. So, although Rochester, who represents neo colonists, is at
fault for placing undue pressure on Antionette; she ultimately shares in the blame as well for not
asserting herself strongly enough. The theme of the importance of self assertion is present throughout
Said s book Culture and Imperialism. As for example, in the following quotation, ...people [the
colonized] on whom the economy and polity sustained by empire depend...whose reality has not
historically or culturally required attention (Said 64). Because the culture of the colonized becomes
dominated by the culture of the colonizer, which is analogous to how Antoinette was dominated by
Rochester, their unique history, culture, and identity becomes secondary. Only by demanding attention
and refusing to allow their minds to be colonized, meaning they must resist internalizing the messages
that the single story of colonialism promotes, will the unique identity of the previously colonized be
recognized as well as their autonomy. The former colonizer has no motive in assisting in this process,
so the responsibility falls to the

The Effect of Gender on Response Time Essay
I. Introduction Since the last decade of nineteenth century, there have been many experiments and
approaches that were conducted to analyze which group men or women had a faster response reaction.
Those experiments were about human response time which is the time needed to perceive, evaluate
and respond to a particular question, or to identify the object, color. Sometimes, the response time also
shows how smart people are, or how much information and knowledge they have. Franciscus Donders
was the first scientist to analyze human response time. He tried to convince everybody that men and
women had different response times (Donders, 1969). Zajdel (2007) also performed the same
experiment and concluded that men reacted faster than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the information, this experiment is about recognition reaction. According to the types of
reaction times, there are many factors that may affect reaction time such as gender, age, race, right vs.
left hand, vision, types of stimuli, stimulus intensity, number of stimuli, practice and error, finger
tremors, breathing cycle, disease, sobriety, experience, health, personality, timing available, and body
temperature. Among those factors, gender is known as the common factor for many scientists and
researchers use in their experiment. They want to know which group of people responds faster. There
are many different features between men and women even though men they have no difference in the
brain s structure or cognitive abilities. They are very different in many other aspects such as: the toys
they play with, the clothes wear, or the colors they like. Men focus on the problem more than women
do, or men want to do it better than women such as push harder, jump higher (Deary, 2006).
Therefore, there may be an expectation about the difference between men and women in response
time. Based on the measurement, Zajdel and Nowak (2007) state that in response to all stimuli there is
statistically significantly shorter reaction time in men than in women. Thus I decide to test the rate of
men s vs. women s reaction time. The recording time will tell me which the faster group of people is.
My hypothesis is that there is a significant difference between men and

kill him. This shows that many Gladers are suspicious of Thomas. Thomas knew he took part of
something evil and he didn t know how, so this was very tough on him. Since Ben attacked Thomas,
he was sentenced to Banishment, which was practically a death sentence. Thomas began to cry
because he felt as if it was his fault this happened to Ben. This was one of the first signs of Thomas
beginning to mature, as it shows his empathy towards the other Gladers and his ability to forgive. One
very big change that impacted Thomas development towards maturity was when he ran into the Maze.
Thomas ran into the Maze to save Minho and Alby, even though he barely knew them. He even broke
certain rules in order to save them. On page 113, after Thomas enters the Maze he tells Minho, I
couldn t just sit there and leave you guys out here . This shows his high level of compassion and
maturity. Even though

Issues of Cannabis
What is Cannabis? Wikipedia defines Cannabis (marijuana) as a plant used for psychoactive drug or
medicine. Cannabis has tetrahydrocannabinol referred to as THC. THC is the chemical that is
responsible for most cannabis effects. There are many ways to use cannabis such as smoking, vaping,
eating, and extracting. Moreover, cannabis is used for medical, spiritual, and recreational uses.
Americans should accept cannabis because it has many benefits.
Cannabis can be used as a treatment for medical related issue. Marijuana can help patients with
Cerebral Palsy (CP). CP is a group of disorders that involves brain and nervous system functions.
There is no cure for CP but marijuana is one of the options of managing it. Jacqueline Patterson, a
Missouri mother of four kids, suffers from this illness since she was born. Auspiciously, cannabis
changed her life struggles. Her diagnosis was painful stiff muscles, severe speech impediment, which
leaves her pronunciation of words to be stuttered. Patterson s affirmation to The Pitch reports, I hate
my speech so much, I drrrr... drrr... drove my husband to suicide, you know . At the age of 12,
Patterson went to search for a better alternative to sooth her pain, since, muscle relaxers and Provigil

The Role Celebricities Play in Peoples Life
Today public figures such as celebrities are looked up to by people of all ages. Often viewed as role
models, celebrities appear on television with the entire world watching, and are known for their
wealth, talent and fame. A role model is defined as A person who serves as an example of the values,
attitudes, and behaviors associated with a role. ( Role model. Definition 1. Web). Whether celebrities
enjoy being in the spotlight or not, they are looked up to by millions of people around the world and
thus have a social obligation to behave well. Such role models have an effect on the lives of people in
society as they have the ability to shape the views, ideas, and actions of their fans. It is important for
celebrities to be positive and responsible in displaying good morals and values because many
individuals are dependent on the media role models of today. Because of the large role celebrities play
in society they should be obligated to be positive and influential role models. Many individuals would
argue that in celebrities private lives, they should not have to act as a positive influential role, as they
are out of the spotlight. After all it is their private life, so technically it should be no one s concern
what they do in their free time. However, before people become celebrities, they are aware of the little
to no privacy they are going to receive from the public. This is one of the unfortunate disadvantages of
being famous. With the media and paparazzi on their

Blackberry Picking Seamus Heaney Analysis
In Blackberry Picking, Seamus Heaney isn t just retelling an experience. He masterfully weaves in a
hidden lesson that becomes clear as the reader nears the end of the poem. His description of picking
blackberries is in itself a metaphor of one s childhood memories and their perception at the time. He
utilizes literary devices such as imagery, allusions and narrative point of view to set the mood, change
the tone and draw in his readers. Mr. Heaney also structures his poem into two different sections, with
each telling the story in a different tone with a different purpose behind it. However, what s more
impressive is his use of intense diction to layer the poem with emotion and imagery that services his
hidden message.
Seamus Heaney begins the poem by placing a time stamp on it. It begins in Late August a time for
harvest which lays the groundwork for the harvesting that will ensue in terms of setting. That
description places the reader in the right mood and mindset that Mr. Heaney builds on with his ...

For example, the way he describes his hands as being peppered with thorn pricks (15 16) and with his
description of the spoiled berries being like A rat grey fungus (18 19). He uses an intense description
to fully realize the image or to some degree the memory he wants the reader to picture. While his
language is intense it s never forceful, it s filled with passion but in a violent manner. He conveys his
experience in a romanticized manner like when he mentioned the blackberry s flesh was sweet like
thickened wine (5 6). However, he slowly moves away from the romanticized language and into a
more natural language. While his intense language doesn t fade, it changes along with the tone as the
poem transitions into the moral section. It changes in terms of its purpose. In the beginning, it sets an
image that would guide the reader along while in the end it more used to invoke

  • 2. The Modern World There are many challenges in the modern world. Education has been one of the biggest challenges throughout history and continues to still be a challenge around the world. There is much competition, especially between countries and churches over who had the best education system, but it is nearly impossible to determine what the best educational system entails, which is one of the many challenges. Education has always been major topic among churches across the world. Some of the main objectives of the church are explained in Holy Longing by R. Rolheiser, which uses five metaphors to describe the church. One of the metaphors that Rolheiser used describes how the church is like a rope in that it leads us to where we want to go and where we will succeed (Rolheiser 1999). The church is a place that will help guide and lead you as a rope would. Churches provide many tools and programs that are designed to help educate and guide people. I was convinced that Disney s approach to quality improvement is applicable to hospital management. Out of 9 1/2 things, I would like to talk about three actions that left marks on me with my experience: service vs. experience, rewards to motivate people and closing the gap between knowing and doing. The emergency department (ED) I worked for was a Level I Trauma Center, so patients were transferred by ambulances, most of whom were in very severe conditions, such as cardio pulmonary arrest, unconsciousness and multiple trauma. • 11. Home Message For Children And Parents A key take home message is that preschool children (ages 3 4) need to engage in 60 minutes of physical activity a day, in order to enhance their health and well being (Gabbard Rodrigues, 2008; Canada Sport for Life, 2005; Oliver et al., 2007). However, this message is more aimed at the parents of preschool children, because it is their responsibility to ensure that their child is participating in an adequate amount of exercise (Klesges et al., 1990). Parents have demonstrated a positive correlation to the physical activity of their children (Klesges et al., 1990). Therefore, those parents that provide their children with a lack of encouragement, will notice decreased physical activity among their children (Klesges et al., 1990). Consequently, parents need to support their children to engage in 60 minutes of physical activity a day, in order to improve their health. This is an important message for children and parents, as it aims to enhance the well being and health of preschool aged children (Oliver et al., 2007). Participating in regular physical activity improves bone health, aerobic fitness, and it is beneficial for the development of fundamental motor skills (Oliver et al., 2007). Bone health is increased due to physical activity, because exercise provides bones with more strength. This is important because as you get old your bones weaken, however if you begin exercising during preschool years, you have a higher chance of making physical activity a habit, which will ... India s Economic Impact On India Essay As previously stated, Britain s economic interest in India had begun in the 1600 s when the British East India Company set up trading posts in several Indian cities such as Madras, Bombay, and Calcutta (Age of Imperialism 2012). At first, the Mughal dynasty which ruled India at the time, had kept European traders under control. But by 1707, the Mughal dynasty had begun to collapse and many small states began to break away from under the control of the Mughal dynasty. In 1757, Robert Clive led the East India Company troops to a swift and decisive victory over Indian defence forces along with the French at the Battle of Plassey. From then on, the British East India Company was the leading power in India (Age of Imperialism 2012). Throughout the 18th and 19th century, many events have taken place in the world. One of these events was the industrial revolution starting in England and then eventually spreading to other countries in Europe (Chauhan 1989: 109). This economic impact affected India because of how an English man by the name of Thomas Stevens managed to motivate four of London s traders to travel to India. The industrial revolution allowed for Britain to obtain the raw materials for its monopoly of factories that they were in need of as well as a location to sell their valuable goods. • 20. The Government Protecting Citizens from Corruption Introduction The fundamental ground of our democracy is The First Amendment that gives its citizens the promise of freedom of expression. The First Amendment may be seen as a concept of basic freedom, which carries the idea that it, is more important to practice rather than to protect it. Regardless if a person is liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, the role within the United States government is to carry out essential responsibilities its citizens cannot perform. The United States citizens are responsible of electing politicians into government positions to solve the problems the country faces. One of those problems is corruption. The power of money is at the center of political corruption and even though fraud has been in existence for a long time, in recent years it has become a lot worse. In the past when politicians sought to run for office each individual had to raise a few thousand dollars, businesses in the past were smaller, manageable and the risk factors were minimal. Currently political contributions run in the millions, making Washington a booming business. Most of the money that is raised goes to lobbyist, campaign aids, deceiving PR operations, and pretentious grass roots groups. The American citizens have felt the repercussion with the political and lobbying establishments who are now in control of the public debates and the policy making process all for the benefit of the well financed special interest groups. • 24. Colonialism By Hernan Cortes Summary Colonialism, according to Webster s dictionary, is the policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically (1). Hernan Cortes was a Spanish conquistador, who against the wishes of the crown, set out on an expedition in 1519 to conquer a new world. Hernan Cortes came with the sole intent to conquer and economically exploit the new world he intended to conquer. Wikipedia does a decent job at providing reliable information, but I would argue that there are multiple areas the author can expand on to help expand the perspective beyond that of a bias. The first suggestion that I would make in this Wikipedia article would be to provide a more objective view of the native allies/allies, to get an all encompassing idea of what actually happened. The perspective of this article is that of the Spanish conquistador, while acknowledging that the author gives nods to various indigenous groups. This is shown through the authors use of providing only surface level claims, not revealing the true intentions of Cortes Expedition. In the text, there is a claim made by Cortés that stated the natives think of us as gods, or godlike beings because the Aztecs and Montezuma thought Cortés was the Aztec god Quatizquatoal returning. The description of the interaction is mentioned when the author states that Cortes attempted to frighten the Aztec delegation with a display of his firepower (), this use ... Sometimes, the response time also shows how smart people are, or how much information and knowledge they have. Franciscus Donders was the first scientist to analyze human response time. Among those factors, gender is known as the common factor for many scientists and researchers use in their experiment. They want to know which group of people responds faster. There are many different features between men and women even though men they have no difference in the brain s structure or cognitive abilities. They are very different in many other aspects such as: the toys they play with, the clothes wear, or the colors they like. Men focus on the problem more than women do, or men want to do it better than women such as push harder, jump higher (Deary, 2006). Therefore, there may be an expectation about the difference between men and women in response time. Based on the measurement, Zajdel and Nowak (2007) state that in response to all stimuli there is statistically significantly shorter reaction time in men than in women.
