Difference Between Print Books And E Books
Introduction
Reading books is one of the things that have a major impact on people s life. As the time is
passing, technology is reaching new heights and one of the popular gift that technology has
given to world in recent past is E Books. E books is basically the digital face of printed books.
Now the whole debate of printed books vs e books has heated up and some of us have our own
respective views. In this report, we are going to discuss about the how in this fast paced world of
technology print books are still edging over the e books and attracting the majority of masses
towards them including students. We will also be highlighting the factors which are responsible in
making printed books the first choice for students.

In student learning both printed books and e books are included because there are different type of
students, some have more emotional connect with the traditional books while others learn better
with e books.
In this report, we are further going to discuss about the main part in which we will look at the
ways that gives the more edge to printed books in comparison to e books for student learning.
According to a new study, 92% of college students would rather do their reading the old fashioned
way, with pages and not pixels. The finding comes from American University linguistics professor
Naomi S. Baron, author of the book Words Onscreen: The Fate of Reading in a Digital World.
Baron led a team that asked 300 college students in the United States, Slovakia, Japan and
Germany how they preferred to read. Physical books were the choice of 92% of the respondents,
who selected paper over an array of electronic devices . (Schaub, 2016)
Steven Hernandez, a student at Arizona State University is among those who prefer reading the
real McCoy over files on a gadget. I believe that the possibility and likelihood of distraction is too
high when it comes to online learning tools like textbooks, he wrote in an op ed for his student
newspaper. The upside to e books is the low price and the user interaction that it enables, but it
requires integration and education of the technology being used integration that students like
myself are not accustomed to .

Mainstream Culture and Media after the World War II
After the Second World War, America experienced an economic boom, which has taken the
country a step further towards the ideal capitalistic society. In its early developmental stages, the
capitalist mode of production prolonged the Marxist discourse on constant class struggle as it was
primarily criticized in terms of social inequalities. During post war years, the initial focus of the
discourse has shifted to Frankfurt School criticism of cultureindustry, where the standardization and
commodification of cultural spheres became one of the major defects of the capitalistic system.
The notion of class struggle shifted as well, to the clash of high and low cultural forms. Also known
as authentic expression versus standardized product of cultural industry. Most recently, the
discourse has gone through another important metamorphosis that has made advertising industry
and consumerism the main forces, shaping hegemonic culture of mainstreammedia. The good old
notion of the class struggle is currently regarded as the battle between corporate businesses and
rebel oppositional forces.
However, even though the subject matter of the Marxist struggle has changed through time, the
very quintessential nature of capitalistic mode of production remained unchanged, for it is profit
driven and turns all cultural spheres into mass marketed commodities. Within the domain of
cultural industry, the notions of authenticity and resistance become utopian, illusionary and fake;

The Issue Of Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration has become an explosive issue in the U.S. Many people have debated fervently
in their disapproval of illegal immigration, whereas others defend it just as ardently. The church and
Christian religion/theology has been drawn into the fray over illegal aliens as well, with Christians
on both sides seeking to validate their positions based on their own individual beliefs. I interviewed
many different people with equally varying opinions on the matter. Over the past few months, many
people, old and young, have been educated on the ethical dilemma that immigrationhas caused;
especially due to the Syrian refugee crisis. Every person I interviewed had valid statements
about the issue that is affecting the United States and the World. The majority of people I
interviewed were Christian; however, one person was an Atheist and another was Agnostic. I
found their opinions extremely interesting for the fact that their opinions were morally based and
not spiritually. I did ask in depth of the Christian interviewees about how their religious and
spiritual view affects the view of this controversial issue. Some used the law of the land as an
important aspect. They believe that those who illegally enter any country violate that nation s laws
as well as the laws of God. Believers are torn between showing compassion and mercy to the illegal
immigrants who seek help and not wanting to disrupt God s word. The government expects private
citizens to act as law enforcement.

Disadvantages Of Completely Randomized Design
The treatments that are assigned completely at random so that each experimental unit has the same
chance of receiving any one treatment is known as, a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). It is
assumed that all experimental units are uniform. Any difference among experimental units
receiving the same treatment in the CRD is considered as experimental error. Thus, Completely
Randomized Design is suitable just for the tests involving homogeneous experimental units, for
example, lab research, where ecological effects are generally easy to control. The CRD is the
simplest of all designs. The replications of treatments are assigned completely at random to
independent experimental subjects. It is equivalent to a t test when only two treatments are... Show

If experimental error is heterogeneous, valid comparisons can still be made.
However there are also few disadvantages of Completely Randomized Block Designs, which are
1.It is not suitable for big number of treatments because blocks become too big.
2.It is not suitable when complete block contains considerable variability.
3.Error df is smaller than that for the CRD (problem with a small number of treatments).
4.If there is a large variation between experimental units within a block, a large error term may
result (this may be due to too many treatments), as interactions between treatment and block effects
increase error.
5.If there are missing data, a CRBD experiment may be less efficient than a CRD
Appropriate use of Completely Randomized Block Designs
It is suitable to use it when there is a known or suspected source of variation in one direction.
Orientation of the blocks to have minimum variation within the block and orientation plots to
sample the entire range of variation within the block.
The CRBD is one of the most widely used designs. If it will control the variation in a particular
experiment, there is no need to use a more complex design. The most important item to consider
when choosing a design is the uniformity of the experimental

Book Report On Isaac s Storm

Professor Lambert
Isaac s Storm Book Review
Isaac s Storm, is a tale of self confidence. This Hurricane in 1900 in Galveston was the worst and
deadliest hurricane this country has ever seen. About 6,000 people lost their lives and among
those who died was Isaac Cline s wife. I can tell how guilty he must have felt and how horrific this
time was for Cline, especially because he thought a massive storm could never devastate his
amazing city. The horrific events of what happened in Galveston is only partially told in this
book. Erik Larson s use of Cline s own letters and reports show Cline s own self confidence or
pride and falsifies facts that Cline was the hero he believed himself to be after the Storm surfaced.
Isaac s Storm clearly shows what can happen when human arrogance takes priority over anything
else. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the floodwaters lapping at the walls, he remained in denial. Isaac Cline along with a few of
the people who worked with him, convinced themselves that the storms out of the Caribbean would
move the opposite way. Cline agreed with Matthew Fontaine Maury an oceanographer, that the
region would not get the storm surges. To ignore the signs of the storm s size and intensity was the
ultimate sign of arrogance. The National Weather Service didn t want to create fear, but they
should have been scared or a little more concerned, since other parts of the United States
experienced major disasters before. Not as major as this time obviously, thus the reaction nonchalant

Socialization Of Homeschool
Parents have the right to choose the path for their child education. They should take the time to
consider the long term effect it could have on their child. Home schooled children could be missing
out on valuable lessons in life and the opportunity to participate in school activities and sporting
events. Socialization plays an important part of a child s growth and understanding of the real
world. Children must learn to respect people in authority outside of the home setting. Just anyone
can not teach education; there should be some guidelines for homeschool just as there are for
public schools. There are many memories made from public or private school settings. As one
smart person once stated, If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the
time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers. (Howe). Children and parents need
separation periods to develop and understand different people s perceptive.
Socialization is an important development tool. Every interaction your child has helped him
learn language skills, ways to cope with emotions and how to work within social norms. Once
your child is in school, teachers and peers start to be a major part of socialization, which impacts
development by helping your child feel competent. During early school years, a teacher provides
structure and discipline in a child s day. Homeschool children may not have a structured schedule
due to what may be going on at home. Maybe due to a sibling or

Theories Of Modernisation
SP10204: Introduction to International Development Assignment I
Modernisation theory
Modernisation is the process of change towards those types of social, economic, and political
systems that have developed in Western Europe and North America (Eisenstadt 1966, p. 1).
Modernisation theory is utilised to elucidate the process by which modernisation occurs within
societies. Modernisation theory emanated in the 1950s from the ideas of Max Weber, which
proffered the basis for the modernisation paradigm inaugurated by Talcott Parsons, and intended to
illustrate the layered development of industrial societies. The theory asserts that societies develop in
formulaic stages, that can be easily discerned, which entail increased complexity further down the
societal progression.
Modernisation theory is however subject to criticism as it fails to account for the Western reliance
on colonisation of land, labour and resources that yielded the requisite wealth for the scale and rate
of development in the West (Crossman, 2017, para. 9). It has interesting parallels with International
Development as they are both synonymous with economic development and its relevance on an
international scale
Malthusianism

food supply is arithmetical at best (En.wikipedia.org, 2017). It emanated from ideas conveyed by

John Scopes Controversy
The summer of 1925 was a controversial period of time in the town of Dayton, Tennessee. There
had been a law that banned evolution taught in classrooms; the American Civil Liberties Union
challenged said law with the help of John Scopes, who was a teacher that taught the theory of
evolution in his classroom. In the trial, Clarence Darrowrepresented Scopes and faced off William
Jennings Bryan, who was against evolution being taught and a well known criminal defense
lawyer. In the first section of the book, before the trial, the foundation for the controversy was
arranged. Charles Dawson discovered bones and other fragments of a skull that were known as the
Piltdown skull. The Piltdown skull was first thought to have been from a normal ape, but later
evidence collected from Arthur Smith Woodward said otherwise. The skull was said to have been
from an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scopes fine and conviction were overturned later on a technicality, but the debate between the anti
evolutionists and modernists continued over evolution and religion in the classroom subject matter
long after the trial was over. Many books were written about the Scopes Trials that described what
happened such as Only Yesterday: An Informal History of the Nineteen Twenties, and Inherit the
Wind. The author of Only Yesterday, Fredrick Lewis Allen, described the trials very simply as a
loss for fundamentalism and many others followed in his description. Political and public views
from this case also changed, which led toward the idea of creation to be taught in schools rather
than so much emphasis on evolution being banned. This led to religious practices in schools began
to diminish as the years went on as well. As more arguments arose and settled, the law that banned
evolution in school was finally repealed in

8th Grade Singing
Hello,
There are quite a few pedagogical reasons why Rachel and I have decided to combine both
choirs. Below are just a few. My 8th grade boys were having a hard time singing do to voice
changes. I tried to keep the boys up in their falsetto and while this worked for a few boys the
others we not able to produce certain notes. When boys voices start to change it can result in them
only being able to sing a very limited amount of notes. We worked on high trills, sliding, humming,
yawning, held long tones, among many of other to help support their changing voices. After our
first concert I talked with my boys and they had mentioned that they felt very discouraged about
singing because some of them simply are not producing notes or can only sing in a low rumble.
Rachel mentioned to me that her boys were just starting to transition and she was noticing large
gaps in her group as well. Combining both groups would result in a higher confidence level, tone
production, and create a full choir sound. This is one of the reasons why we combined the groups. ...

Although our Planned Course document does not differentiate between grade levels it is known
in the musical world that 8th grade choir should be able to sing in easy three part harmony by the
end of the year. Seventh graders are just being introduced into it by the end. The 8th graders have
taken on the bulk of the three part harmony however having a small number of students and a
group of boys with ever changing voices makes 3 part harmony almost impossible. To promote
healthy singing and a confident choir it is important for them to be combined. Because the music is
more difficult it will encourages the 7th graders to rise to the level of the 8th graders so when I

Internal And External Stakeholders
There are two kinds of stakeholders in any organization i.e. internal and external. the internal stake
holders are people within company that can be impacted by the actions of company and in turn
influence the actions of company and the external ones have similar function but they reside
outside the organizational boundaries (Needles, Powers, and Crosson, 2013). in case of Philips
one of the major internal stake holders are its employees, such that the employees give innovative
ideas and feedback to Philips and the company rewards them in return in form of
acknowledgement, rewards and compensation as they believe that employees have paramount role
in customer satisfaction. Employees have interest in the financial statements and the indices of
financial operations presented in the annual report so that they can have an idea of the ability of
company to keep them employed and give them adequate salaries and benefits. In addition other
important external stakeholder is the suppliers of Philips, as the company is concerned with the
satiable development of its products and services, so they make sure that their suppliers also follow
the same practice. Philips is in direct relationship with 8500... Show more content on

Hmm, gloomy as usual. Sneered Olivia. Olivia and her friends arrived to school, called Jennifer

The cameras were top notch, so the girls couldn t take their stupid jackets off. The girls wondered
what school would be like in some other place, where it wasn t so hot and unfair. The principal
walked by and all of the girls ran off. Olivia and all of her friends feared that horrible lady.

wondered, Boys are so lucky... They have everything... Why are we so neglected? What did we
ever do? Everything was so confusing to a second grade girl in an unfair world.
Olivia and her friends talked to Mrs. Lark, We don t deserve this, it s like we are forgotten,
broken off from everything. Mrs. Lark sat for a minute, and thought about what to say, Well, I
don t know why women are treated differently, but I can tell you to do what is right. Don t let
anyone stop you from getting what you need to succeed. Now run along home, I need to do some
things. Do me one favor, though, never forget my words. They will come in handy one day. So,
Olivia promised to never forget and they all went home.
The next two years went by, but Olivia never forgot Mrs. Lark s words. Olivia knew what she had

The song The Rose by Bette Midler is some sort similar to the chapter the The Red Candle. In the
chapter The Red Candle it talks about a girl named Lindo Jong, which is forced to marry a boy

like a flower, sharp lovelike a razor and soothing love like a river. I think in this situation in the

that is like the razor is Of course, now I know the tree trunked lady was the old village

Essay On Cherokee Indian Removal
Two out of three people are discriminated everyday. Giving someone equal rights does not
infringe or take away rights from them, it just makes it illegal to enforce your prejudice and
hate. British statesman and philosopher Edmund Burke once said, Those who don t know
history are destined to repeat it. He also said, All that s necessary for the forces of evil to win in
the world is for enough good men to do nothing. During the Cherokee Indian Removal, the
Cherokee Indians were forced to be removed by the U.S. troops because of discovery of gold
leading them to be removed, and discrimination towards the Cherokees. First the U.S. troops
wanted to remove all Cherokees because of the discovery of gold. In this situation, the Cherokees
had valuable land that could be used for farming. This would benefit the White Americans in a way
to sell goods. Later, the White Americans had found gold on Cherokee Territory, making it another
reason why Andrew Jackson, wanted to remove the Cherokees. Gold was so rare at the time,...

Analysis Of Harry Mulisch s The Assault
The Significance of Symbolons in Harry Mulisch s The Assault
The Assault by Harry Mulisch is a fictitious novel with a basis in reality, specifically the reality
of World War II in Amsterdam. It tracks to story of Anton Steenwijk, whose family was killed by
the Germans as a retaliation against the assassination of a Nazi collaborator and police officer,
Fake Ploeg. Anton Steenwijk was the only one out of his family of four to survive, and he
constantly fights to keep these memories buried through years of practiced repression. Despite this,
every now and again, his past is brought to the forefront of his mind by the appearance of
characters from his past. Mulisch plants this novel on a historical foundation, allowing it to be an ...

How can he be sure that you really are my son? We make a symbolon. He keeps one half, and at
home I give you the other. So then when you get here, they fit together exactly (15). The symbolon
is used to describe Anton s life, the first half being the person Anton molds himself into following
the assault, and the other half being the four individual incidences that make up his past. Anton
Steenwijk cannot be a whole, complete person until the symbolons come together. So, why didn t
the author allow this? The novel is divided into five episodes, each using the concept of symbolons
as a climax or otherwise integral part. The first use of symbolons is the aforementioned description
of them by Anton s father, and can be considered to be, along with the subsequent events in the first
episode, the first half of the symbolon for Anton s life. This event, the assault, changes Anton s life
and is the sole reason that he goes into such a heightened state of repression which follows him

punishment for the pimps that ruin the lives of these young girls is not severe. Therefore, there
is not much help for the girls after they get rescued from this tragedy. A realization Holly had

world of their spouse and build their lives around them only to be disregarded when it suits them.
Spouses are left wondering what had happened that made their partners walked out on them after all
they have been through and the sacrifices both may have made. This is the time they realized they
do not know their partners as they thought they did and all the sacrifices made was not enough to
keep them. This is exhibited in the story The Storm by Kate Chopin where a couple seems to have

returned to their normal lives not telling neither of their partner about the adultery they committed.
In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants a couple is having a heated argument about the

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich concentrates on one man, Ivan Denisovich Shukhov, as he
lives through one day in a Soviet gulag. The conditions of the camp are harsh, illustrating a world
that has no tolerance for independence. Camp prisoners depend almost totally on each other s
productivity and altruism, even for the most basic human needs. The dehumanising atmosphere of
the gulag ironically forces prisoners to discover means to retain their individuality while
conforming to the harsh rules, spoken and unspoken, of the camp. One Day in the Life of Ivan

Another major theme is the trust between individuals and their leaders and peers, a relationship

Forcing the zeks to depend on their fellow prisoners makes it much easier for the authorities to

Why Winter Driving Is Bad
As all long time residents know, Michigan winters can be brutal. However, even during a normal
winter, you can expect average temperatures that are below freezing for three months out of the
year and snowfall totals ranging between 44 inches and 55 inches. Keeping your pavement clear
throughout the winter typically involves frequent applications of salt or chemical deicers as well
as repeated snowplowing. Between the freeze/thaw cycle, the potential damage from snowplows
and the corrosive actions of deicing materials, your asphalt pavement can take a beating. If you
want to minimize the damage that winter can cause, you should make sure that you have cracks
repaired before the arrival of cold weather.

Why Should We Brush Our Teeth
We all know we should brush our teeth but have you given much thought on which toothbrush you
should be using? You want to choose the best brush to keep that perfect smile looking healthy and
sparkling clean.
If you think about it not much has changed in the overall look and theory of this ancient invention.
The look is similar to the brushes of the dark ages, but the materials used to make our modern
brushes are certainly different. Our (very) ancient ancestors used a thin twig with a frayed end to
rub away food from their teeth. Then they created more sophisticated versions with handles made
of bone, wood or ivory with the brushes crafted from the bristles of boars or other animals. With
today s multitude of choices of color, style ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many variations of the toothbrush, but basically you need to decide upon manual or
powered.
The toothbrush head should be small enough that it can reach each tooth. The bristles should be
soft, with rounded ends so you will feel comfortable brushing your gums.
Whichever type of toothbrush you settle on its always best to go with the style or brand that your
dentist recommends.
Powered toothbrushes are they better?
Both powered and manual toothbrushes can clean your teeth effectively. You may find that you
prefer an electric toothbrush because it takes less time to effectively clean your teeth than with a
manual brush. Electric toothbrushes are also a good choice for anyone who has limited dexterity,
such as arthritic fingers or hands.
Getting children to brush their teeth is sometimes a chore in itself and left to their own devices,
getting them to keep brushing for the recommended two to three minutes is sometimes impossible.
Using a power toothbrush may help children to be more motivated and excited about brushing their
teeth.
Toothbrush tips
There are a number of things that you can do to make sure your toothbrush is clean and well kept.

The Federal Judicial System
When it comes to legal disputes the courts are the final decider of what the constitution means.
This authority known as judicial review gives the Supreme Court and other federal courts the
authority to interpret the constitution. The structure of the Federal judicial system is divided into
3 different courts, and each court plays a pivotal role in the judicial review. Along with the
Federal judicial system, there are other factors that affect the judicial review. The first structure of
the Federal judicial system is the district courts. There are 91 federal courts of original jurisdiction.
They are the only federal courts in which trials are held, and in which juries may be enrolled. Some

The Supreme Court is the highest court of the American judicial system. The Supreme Court of the
United States spends most of its time on a task, which is not delegated to the Supreme Court by the
Constitution. That task is hearing cases where the constitutionality of a law or regulation is
challenged. The Supreme Court s nine Justices attempt to sort out what is, and what is not
constitutional. The best known power of the Supreme Court is judicial review. Judicial review is
the power of the courts to determine whether acts of congress and executive are in accord with the
U.S. Constitution. This is not technically found within the text of the Constitution itself, but the
court established this doctrine in the case of Marbury v. Madison. In 1803 during Thomas
Jefferson s presidency, the Supreme Court of the U.S. was asked to decide the case of Marbury v.
Madison. The case presented a monumental clash that gave the federal courts the power to
determine the constitutionality of actions by the president and congress. Analyzing all of the legal
and historical ramification, Chief Justice John Marshall devised a solution for deciding the case.
He did this so the other 2 branches would accept the role of the courts and declare them
unconstitutional. He did this by limiting the authority of all three branches, including the judicial
branch. In Marbury v. Madison, the Supreme Court put limits on some of the powers of all 3
branches of government. They also declared the act of congress unconstitutional, limited some of
the president s appointment powers, and diminished some of the court s powers under the judiciary

The Value of Human Life Essays
Value of Human Life
Though our society has adapted and developed, inequality remains prevalent all around the world.
Our society assigns value to human live based on ethnicity and gender. Currently around the world
there are over 30 million slaves in which 60,000 are in the United States. Even though slavery has
been abolished in nearly every country many people still measure the value of individuals in cents
and dollars. Should life be calculated in terms of money? How should we as a society assign
value to a persons life? I personally believe that you can t assign a price to someones life and you

Abraham Lincoln said ... all men are created equal in the Gettysburg Address and many of us take
this to true yet here in the 21 century we still allow this. Ethnicity largely influences the quality of
the job you get as well as the income you will receive in the workforce. Currently African American
men working full time, year round get paid an average of 75.3 percent comparable to caucasian
men, according to the U.S. Current Population Survey and the National Committee on Pay
Equity. The unemployment rate for African Americans is typically at about twice that of
Caucasians whom also have many substantial advantages at work. They are offered a substantially
larger variety of job opportunities and positions that earn more money and have more power. This
form of inequality exists in both gender and race. Though the pay gap has been reduced drastically
within the last few years, it still remains a very common form of inequality
I believe value is something only an individual can assign to their own life based on experience
and significance. A life is t an object you can place a price on, it s a complex network full of
experiences good and bad shared with others. Everyone on this planet has value not just to
themselves but to others as well but that value is higher than any amount of money existing.

The Islamic Insurgency Of Afghanistan
Mullah Akhtar Mansour and the Rising Threat of Islamic Insurgency in Afghanistan
War and conflict have raged in Southeast and Central Asia for centuries due to civil unrest and
political instability. The rise of the Taliban and other militant insurgencies have escalated the
dangers and unpredictability of an already unstable government in Afghanistan. The appointment of
the new Talibanleader Mullah Akhtar Mansour could result in a dangerous liaison with ISIS. The
agenda of these jihadist extremists is the take over the Afghan and Pakistan governments in favor of
the more stringent Islamic ways of the Taliban. These groups, professing to do the work of God, are
perpetrating a coarse and distorted interpretation of Islam and the Quran. Insurgents have
committed violent acts including the killing of police, military personnel, assassinations of political
figures, and suicide bombings (Ghufran, 2009, pg 44). Due to the dangerous capabilities of the
Taliban combining with the organizational competence of ISIS, the United States coalition forces
must be cautious about leaving too quickly from Afghanistan, which will also affect Pakistan.
The Birth of the Taliban
The Taliban emerged in 1994 from a group of guerilla type Muslim Mujahidin that had fought in
the Afghan and Soviet war and were dissatisfied and disillusioned with their current leadership.
The Mujahidin s purpose is to perform jihad, meaning to struggle, strive, or persevere in doing God

Jane Eyre Independence
Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte, is a novel that depicts strong female independence. Women being
independent and not needing a spouse to provide for them was not something very common in the
early nineteenth century; they were usually very dependent upon men for everything in their lives.
Women were not the primary wage earners and would usually feel helpless if they were not
married. In general, their happiness came from the fact that they had someone who was going to
provide for and marry them. The average womanlived to find a spouse and would not dare to say no
at the offer of a man s hand in marriage. However, Jane Eyrewas just the opposite of the average

From the moment Jane Eyre was a young child, the only person she could depend upon was
herself. The ones who meant the most to her had perished; her mom, dad, and Helen all passed
away when she was young. With no real family, Jane had no option but to depend upon herself
for support. Rohmah, who wrote A Speech Act Analysis of Jane Eyre , states, The directives in
Jane s speeches illustrate her willingness to be independent and not to be mastered by others.
Bronte created a character who wanted to be freed from the oppression of others since she was a
child (Bell). From the moment she left Gateshead, she had been on her own. The ride from
Gateshead to Lowood was the start of her independence. Jane was now responsible for herself.
Even though she was sent to an orphanage, there was not much caretaking done there. From then
on, the only person that she could put her trust in was herself. She felt the pain of rejection far
too long in her younger years to just put her trust in anyone who came along (Bell). In chapter
twenty seven, Jane says, I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more
unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself (Bronte). This was a moment where Jane was
truly struggling with the idea of marrying Rochester. Even in her weakest moments, she was able
to remind herself how she had gotten this far in her life. Bell, the author of Jane Eyre: The Tale
of the Governess , states, She is threateningly intelligent, forthright to the point of bluntness,
submitting herself mentally to no one, not even when she finally does improbably win a man s
love. When she does marry Rochester, it is not because she needs him to survive. It is because she
simply wants to marry him. She left him and became truly independent. She found a new job and
was able to provide for herself. In chapter thirty seven before she took his hand in marriage, she

Critical Pedagogy And The Reggio Emilia
Critical pedagogy and The Reggio Emilia approach on play based learning should be merged into
early childhood education as obtaining the skills to critically analyze and problem solve has the
potential to change society and thus the potential to change the world.
It is important individuals become aware of what critical pedagogy is. Critical pedagogy stems
from the idea that there is an unequal social structure in our society which is based upon class, race
and gender. It has been formulated and influenced by many psychologists and philosophers
including John Dewey and Paulo Freire. Critical pedagogy is an attempt at freedom from oppression
through democratic critical thinking. In critical pedagogy the knowledge learned within the
classroom should correlate with and not be separated from any social structure, culture, politics,
economics or any ideology taking place with society. The idea is, that in order to orchestrate
change, individuals must become aware of the social, cultural, ideological, and or economic
influence exerted upon society. Once the individual becomes aware of the hegemony taking place
they can then analyze their situation and implement change for the greater good.
John Dewey born October 20th, 1859 was an American psychologist and philosopher. He was
known well for his avocation in democracy and his theories on progressive education which
correlate and transition into critical pedagogy. His theories focused on the argument that learning

Whilst all of these technological developments were taking place in the F1 arena, Ferrari chose to
focus on it s long term strategy which focused on the development of the V6 turbocharged engine.
This essentially meant that their drivers were now competing with cars that no longer held a

instance was that Ferrari had ignored the change in trends in the immediate environment and stuck
to what they felt worked. The strategy was to exploits their strengths but neglected the opportunities
that presented themselves. They had failed to respond to an immediate threat, thus exposing their
weaknesses and allowing themselves to retrogress to the extent that Ferrari was no longer

Compare And Contrast The Outsiders Book And Movie
The OUTSIDERS , a book and movie, portrays a small gang going through hard times. The Book
and Movie may have the same plot but have small yet noticeable differences. Both stories take
place around Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965. These should be compared to show why sometimes
movies get things wrong and why the book tends to be better, in this case they both stick to the
plot with only a few missing or added details, such as the book is slower paced but has more
detail, the movie misses or adds small details, and the movie destroys your thought of what
characters look like.
The movie is fairly similar to the book except for a few exceptions. One of the main things is that
the movie is less detailed and is faster paced. Another thing is that pony never went to the hospital

Party wanted to hold this vote in order to give the people of Scotland a say in whether or not their
country would stay in the UK. In his speech, Silent No More , Gordon Brown urges his audience to
have the confidence in saying no to Scotland s independence.
Since the Act of Union in 1707, Scotland has been a part of the UK. Until 1997, all important

This pushes patriotic audience members to vote no since Brown has confirmed that Scotland is
already an independent nation. Gordon Brown repeats the phrase It s not about to clarify to the
people who are not sure which side to vote on that either way the vote will not change any aspects
of Scotland that he mentions. He then changes the pattern to say that the vote is about whether

Thomasina growing up, to the eve of her seventeenth birthday where she would became a woman

Thomasina is at an impressionable age, she admires Septimus and feels they have a special bond,
as they have superior intelligence over the other members of the household.
Thomasina s relationship with her brother Augustus is not very strong partly because he is away
at boarding school for most of the year. Their relationship is highlighted in Scene seven when
Augustus joins his sisters drawing lesson. Both Thomasina and Septimus gang up on him and
make him aware of their superior intelligence. An example of this is when Septimus says to
Augustus if you are so determined my lord This is a private joke between Septimus and
Thomasina which infuriates Augustus and he feels left out. He then says Your peace is nothing to

Septimus is just the tutor. In this scene, he is made to feel inferior to his sister, Thomasina, which
he resents, as she is his female sister. Women during this period were not expected to be as highly

NFL Players Should NOT Blame For Traumatic Brain Injuries
Although there is a growing feud between National Football League (NFL) players, their
families, and the league itself concerning claims that management should be held responsible for
the physical deterioration of former players, others claim that players knew the risks involved
when they decided to play the game, therefore the NFL should not be held accountable for their
injuries. Given the fact that there are not many sports as physically demanding on the human

As a result former football players are experiencing health issues. Sports news headlines have

Although most women in media no longer wield a stake and kill vampires, these women are still

damsel in distress, women are once again being fit into the confines of a box. Writers continue
to create women that can be defined in a trope, rather than an original character with a unique set

Why Did The Pony Express In 1860
The pony express was significant because it was the America before cars and plane. The pony
express Encountered Indians, robbery, robbery, and weather to deliver vital information and
information that could help America with the current war. The pony express went to April 3, 1860
to October 24, 1861. In my opinion, the pony express men/women fit the theme exchange for
delivering mail, and encounter for 3 reasons. First, the pony express encountered Weather. The
pony express men had to go through mountains and worked through winter. In the winter, there
would be avalanches that would kill the express men and take the mail with them. Other times they

What are those lights? They are beautiful...... whoah. Hey, well, I guess here I go, right on through

Now, I am in the troposphere, where I was born! I haven t been here since the spaceship took me

Margot Heinemann s Characteristics In King Lear
William Shakespeare s King Lear is the tragic story of a king s descent from power as the life that
he had once had crumbles before him. It is a story that relies heavily on the relationships between
its characters and how they change. Lear is slowly driven insane throughout the course of the play
as he unintentionally rids himself of the positive relationships while relying upon negative ones.
However, it is Margot Heinemann s argument that the play not only relies on interpersonal drama,
but also the politics of Englandin her essay, Demystifying the Mystery of the State : King Learand
the World Upside Down . In her essay, Heinemann provides an in depth analysis of how the politics

Edgar plays a large role towards the end of the story coming back from the position of Poor Tom,
and as he is challenging Edmund, he says the following:

That if my speech offend a noble heart
Thy arm may do thee justice. Here is mine.
...
Thy valor and thy heart, thou art a traitor: (5.3.125 127,133)
Edgar fearlessly challenges his brother at the end of the play, telling him to draw his sword and
retaliate if he is offended by what he says, and he then calls him a traitor among other things.
The reader is surprised to see Edgar reaching this position because he had fallen so far. He was
originally in the good graces of his father, but then he had to go into hiding and act like a crazy
beggar because his father wanted him dead. He then transforms from a crazy beggar to a noble
swordsman for the end of the play so that he can defeat his brother in an attempt to save those
who are in danger. This scene is incredibly powerful to the reader because of the Upside Down
World effect which is caused by Edgar s resolution to not give up on England and to save those

Issues of Cultural Diversity and Diet
Cultural Diversity African American Diet
In the present time the African American culture changed quite a bit in being removed from where
they as a people originated or should I say their homeland from whence they came. African
American people are a people who are influenced tremendously from their fore fathers and mothers
who lived in the southern part of the United States. The nomenclature for this group is to include
African American, Black Americans or people of color. I prefer to use African American at this
time since I am preferably writing about my own cultural background. The food habits of African
Americans originated and resolved around food. They are a society who are based around religious
ceremonies and celebrations to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately this tends to lead to a lot of obesity among them. A lot of the problem is
contributed to the many celebrations that we celebrate with foods that just throw caution to the
wind so to speak. How ever, people are not all alike and everyone, believe it or not is different
especially when it come to culture. Each culture is bought up different. How they socialize depends
entirely on their cultural upbringing which includes religion, education and even sexual orientation.
With the nature of variations in each cultural group we should never be generalized or taken for
granted that the characteristics apply to all individuals of one cultural group. The diversity of
cultural eating is a main issue in America.

Skin Color In America
Abrey Oldham The America I believe in The America I believe in treats people fairly. No one is
discriminated against because of the color of their skin. Not one human being was able to
choose the color of their skin before they were born. Therefore, I think people should not be
treated differently because of something no one can help. We all look the same underneath our
skin. The America I believe in knows that a person is judged by their behavior. In 1619 people
started judging other people by their skin color. So I wonder why is this still going on now in this
time. People that we accept in this country seem to only have one type of skin color. The most
important thing about a person is not their skin color, but their

Soccer Informative Speech
The audience went silent. The crowd locked their eyes on only two things, the soccer player and
the ball. This was their last chance. If they score this penalty, they have a chance to move on into
the finals. The player kept his attention on the ball. He ran towards it and kicked it with a
powerful force, aiming it towards the soccer net. The audience threw their hands up with tears in
their eyes . The stadium now filled with passionate cheers as everyone jumped up and down
from their seats. Soccer is the greatest discovery because; no other sport has the power to unite
countries. It helps with promotion, which increases the financial situation of an economy. In
addition, soccer is one of the fewer sports that does not discriminate. Anyone can enjoy the
wonderful benefits of this sport. The sport started back with the ancient Greeks and Romans.
According to an online website (The History of Soccer), they played games that involved using a
ball and their feet. Back to medieval France, the French played a violent version of this sport
called la choule which later on became banned. On the other hand, in medieval England, the
English played a different version of the game that included the rules and laws of the sport. In the
same article, in 1872, the first game was between England and Scotland. (The History of Soccer).
The sport became popular that it spread across Europe and many other countries. The U.S.
implanted their first soccer league in 1921. Unforgettable soccer

Examples Of Maturation In To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill A Mockingbird: From Innocence to Maturity Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird is a

Dubose wants Jem to come read to her even though Mrs. Dubose clearly despises him. However
through Mrs. Dubose Lee provides the reader with evidence as to why it is incorrect to form
impressions of people hastily without thought and consideration. Lee does so by revealing that
Mrs. Dubose was not necessarily as vicious as the reader first thinks. In fact she asks that Jem
read to her, and he does so every day for an entire month. However Jem continues to strongly
dislike her because she still continues to criticize him and his family; however, he persists.
Despite his personal hatred for Mrs. Dubose, Jem battles his emotions and continues going to
read to her. Jem learns from Atticus that Mrs. Dubose passed away and she had left him a
camellia flower inside the candy box she gave him; his initial reaction is one of utter confusion
and he is unable to understand the reason behind her actions because he had always believed that
Mrs. Dubose disliked him. He is surprised when she leaves him something. Atticus explains to Jem
that Mrs.Dubose was a morphine addict and her erratic behavior was a result of withdrawals. Jem
never knew this, and this information overwhelms him both physically and emotionally. What Jem
thought he had seen on the outside as bitter hate and anger was in reality just a thin layer of pain,
which was hiding the true strength and courage, which she had within her. Mrs. Dubose had

Othello Prejudice And Prejudice
Discrimination At It s Finest
Racism and Sexism are two extremely prominent problems that have been occurring for many
years. Many people are prejudice towards others who are not the same as them. Today we have
come very far in order to limit discrimination, although there are still many places and people that
are sexist and racist. In the three texts I read this term Othello, Snow Falling on Cedars and
Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) there is a direct link to either racism, sexism or
even both. These texts were all set in past times except for Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning
Juliet) which had components of the story that were set in today s time. We are going to explore the
similarities of discrimination between these three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This playwright shows us how people today discriminate against women particularly seen in the
views on Desdemona s character. Academe believes that you re a doomed and helpless victim.
(2.2). Constance tells Desdemona this and instantly Desdemona is enraged by the fact people
think this of her. We are exposed to a side of Desdemona in this play that we may have not
picked up on entirely in Othello. Constance opens our eyes to the fact that Desdemona is a
strong and capable character and not the innocent and helpless character that she is made out to
seem. You are magnificent! Othello should make you his lieutenant. You re capable of greatness,
Desdemona. (2,2). Because Desdemona is never given a real voice in Othello her character is
watered down and her true colours are not shown. Readers are sexist against Desdemona because
she is a woman and in those times women were considered to be much less powerful and
important than men. Constance Ledbelly is also taken advantage of because she is a woman by her

The Effects Of Lumpectomy As A Breast Conserving Surgery
Lumpectomy. The lumpectomy is a breast conserving surgery that removes only the tissue
containing the cancer. Lumpectomies are more successful when tumor detection occurs in an
earlier stage and smaller size. A patient may opt for a tissue biopsy and lumpectomy
simultaneously however, research is dismal in the lifespan impact on this particular surgical
approach. Radiation. Radiation therapy can be useful in all stages of breast cancer, however Stage I
and II radiation therapy with lumpectomy is recommended. The ongoing research identifies without
radiation treatment there is a relatively high chance of cancer recurrence up to 35%; with radiation
as an adjuvant therapy the cancer risk decreases to 5 10% (MCGWC, 2007). Radiation treatment
also accompanies a mastectomy if axillary lymph nodes test positive, a tumor is greater than five
centimeters, or margin borders of the tumor are narrow between healthy cells and tumor cells
(MCGWC, 2007). Systemic therapy. Both surgery and radiation therapy target tumor cells in a
specific region. However, tumor cells can migrate and metastasize to other regions in the body
through the lymph system. Adjuvant systemic therapy may be beneficial depending on staging,
grade, tumor size, cell proliferation and oncogene activation. Oncogenes warrant further study as a
treatment to alter genes that are unable to suppress cell proliferation; when damaged the proteins
produced by the oncogenes can turn normal cells into cancer cells. The most

The Modern Companies Working Environment Around The Globe...
Analyzing the composition of the modern companies working environment around the globe, it
can be concluded that the workforce is quite diverse. This diversity of the company s employees
may be determined by gender, race, age, religion, or physical characteristics. The importance of
the organization development is about understanding of how these characteristics of from the
organizational behavior. While many companies are willing to make a variety of work
environments, others find it difficult in terms of effective human resources management.
Generational diversity has become an essential element of many diversity strategies. Companies
are now managing a broader range of employees work needs and experiences as well as career
development choices. For example, while younger generations are climbing the corporate ladder
and entering the workforce expecting fast paced, highly inclusive workplaces that offer
customizable careers, retirement eligible employees are delaying their retirement plans. By the
same token, professional development resources that were once relegated to entry level and new
employees have become a necessity for workers at all levels. This broadening of employees needs
coupled with the increased responsiveness on the part of many organizations, benefits gender
diversity by helping change the norms and expectations about the way employees work, increasing

  • 2. Difference Between Print Books And E Books Introduction Reading books is one of the things that have a major impact on people s life. As the time is passing, technology is reaching new heights and one of the popular gift that technology has given to world in recent past is E Books. E books is basically the digital face of printed books. Now the whole debate of printed books vs e books has heated up and some of us have our own respective views. In this report, we are going to discuss about the how in this fast paced world of technology print books are still edging over the e books and attracting the majority of masses towards them including students. We will also be highlighting the factors which are responsible in making printed books the first choice for students. Facts and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In student learning both printed books and e books are included because there are different type of students, some have more emotional connect with the traditional books while others learn better with e books. In this report, we are further going to discuss about the main part in which we will look at the ways that gives the more edge to printed books in comparison to e books for student learning. According to a new study, 92% of college students would rather do their reading the old fashioned way, with pages and not pixels. The finding comes from American University linguistics professor Naomi S. Baron, author of the book Words Onscreen: The Fate of Reading in a Digital World. Baron led a team that asked 300 college students in the United States, Slovakia, Japan and Germany how they preferred to read. Physical books were the choice of 92% of the respondents, who selected paper over an array of electronic devices . (Schaub, 2016) Steven Hernandez, a student at Arizona State University is among those who prefer reading the real McCoy over files on a gadget. I believe that the possibility and likelihood of distraction is too high when it comes to online learning tools like textbooks, he wrote in an op ed for his student newspaper. The upside to e books is the low price and the user interaction that it enables, but it requires integration and education of the technology being used integration that students like myself are not accustomed to . ... • 3. Mainstream Culture and Media after the World War II After the Second World War, America experienced an economic boom, which has taken the country a step further towards the ideal capitalistic society. In its early developmental stages, the capitalist mode of production prolonged the Marxist discourse on constant class struggle as it was primarily criticized in terms of social inequalities. During post war years, the initial focus of the discourse has shifted to Frankfurt School criticism of cultureindustry, where the standardization and commodification of cultural spheres became one of the major defects of the capitalistic system. The notion of class struggle shifted as well, to the clash of high and low cultural forms. Also known as authentic expression versus standardized product of cultural industry. Most recently, the discourse has gone through another important metamorphosis that has made advertising industry and consumerism the main forces, shaping hegemonic culture of mainstreammedia. The good old notion of the class struggle is currently regarded as the battle between corporate businesses and rebel oppositional forces. However, even though the subject matter of the Marxist struggle has changed through time, the very quintessential nature of capitalistic mode of production remained unchanged, for it is profit driven and turns all cultural spheres into mass marketed commodities. Within the domain of cultural industry, the notions of authenticity and resistance become utopian, illusionary and fake; social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Issue Of Illegal Immigration Illegal immigration has become an explosive issue in the U.S. Many people have debated fervently in their disapproval of illegal immigration, whereas others defend it just as ardently. The church and Christian religion/theology has been drawn into the fray over illegal aliens as well, with Christians on both sides seeking to validate their positions based on their own individual beliefs. I interviewed many different people with equally varying opinions on the matter. Over the past few months, many people, old and young, have been educated on the ethical dilemma that immigrationhas caused; especially due to the Syrian refugee crisis. Every person I interviewed had valid statements about the issue that is affecting the United States and the World. The majority of people I interviewed were Christian; however, one person was an Atheist and another was Agnostic. I found their opinions extremely interesting for the fact that their opinions were morally based and not spiritually. I did ask in depth of the Christian interviewees about how their religious and spiritual view affects the view of this controversial issue. Some used the law of the land as an important aspect. They believe that those who illegally enter any country violate that nation s laws as well as the laws of God. Believers are torn between showing compassion and mercy to the illegal immigrants who seek help and not wanting to disrupt God s word. The government expects private citizens to act as law enforcement. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Disadvantages Of Completely Randomized Design The treatments that are assigned completely at random so that each experimental unit has the same chance of receiving any one treatment is known as, a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). It is assumed that all experimental units are uniform. Any difference among experimental units receiving the same treatment in the CRD is considered as experimental error. Thus, Completely Randomized Design is suitable just for the tests involving homogeneous experimental units, for example, lab research, where ecological effects are generally easy to control. The CRD is the simplest of all designs. The replications of treatments are assigned completely at random to independent experimental subjects. It is equivalent to a t test when only two treatments are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If experimental error is heterogeneous, valid comparisons can still be made. However there are also few disadvantages of Completely Randomized Block Designs, which are 1.It is not suitable for big number of treatments because blocks become too big. 2.It is not suitable when complete block contains considerable variability. 3.Error df is smaller than that for the CRD (problem with a small number of treatments). 4.If there is a large variation between experimental units within a block, a large error term may result (this may be due to too many treatments), as interactions between treatment and block effects increase error. 5.If there are missing data, a CRBD experiment may be less efficient than a CRD Appropriate use of Completely Randomized Block Designs It is suitable to use it when there is a known or suspected source of variation in one direction. Orientation of the blocks to have minimum variation within the block and orientation plots to sample the entire range of variation within the block. The CRBD is one of the most widely used designs. If it will control the variation in a particular experiment, there is no need to use a more complex design. The most important item to consider when choosing a design is the uniformity of the experimental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Book Report On Isaac s Storm Crystal Skinner May 1, 2017 HIST 2301 Professor Lambert Isaac s Storm Book Review Isaac s Storm, is a tale of self confidence. This Hurricane in 1900 in Galveston was the worst and deadliest hurricane this country has ever seen. About 6,000 people lost their lives and among those who died was Isaac Cline s wife. I can tell how guilty he must have felt and how horrific this time was for Cline, especially because he thought a massive storm could never devastate his amazing city. The horrific events of what happened in Galveston is only partially told in this book. Erik Larson s use of Cline s own letters and reports show Cline s own self confidence or pride and falsifies facts that Cline was the hero he believed himself to be after the Storm surfaced. Isaac s Storm clearly shows what can happen when human arrogance takes priority over anything else. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the floodwaters lapping at the walls, he remained in denial. Isaac Cline along with a few of the people who worked with him, convinced themselves that the storms out of the Caribbean would move the opposite way. Cline agreed with Matthew Fontaine Maury an oceanographer, that the region would not get the storm surges. To ignore the signs of the storm s size and intensity was the ultimate sign of arrogance. • 7. Socialization Of Homeschool Parents have the right to choose the path for their child education. They should take the time to consider the long term effect it could have on their child. Home schooled children could be missing out on valuable lessons in life and the opportunity to participate in school activities and sporting events. Socialization plays an important part of a child s growth and understanding of the real world. Children must learn to respect people in authority outside of the home setting. Just anyone can not teach education; there should be some guidelines for homeschool just as there are for public schools. There are many memories made from public or private school settings. As one smart person once stated, If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers. (Howe). Children and parents need separation periods to develop and understand different people s perceptive. Socialization is an important development tool. Every interaction your child has helped him learn language skills, ways to cope with emotions and how to work within social norms. Once your child is in school, teachers and peers start to be a major part of socialization, which impacts development by helping your child feel competent. During early school years, a teacher provides structure and discipline in a child s day. Homeschool children may not have a structured schedule due to what may be going on at home. Maybe due to a sibling or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Theories Of Modernisation SP10204: Introduction to International Development Assignment I Modernisation theory Modernisation is the process of change towards those types of social, economic, and political systems that have developed in Western Europe and North America (Eisenstadt 1966, p. 1). Modernisation theory is utilised to elucidate the process by which modernisation occurs within societies. Modernisation theory emanated in the 1950s from the ideas of Max Weber, which proffered the basis for the modernisation paradigm inaugurated by Talcott Parsons, and intended to illustrate the layered development of industrial societies. The theory asserts that societies develop in formulaic stages, that can be easily discerned, which entail increased complexity further down the societal progression. Modernisation theory is however subject to criticism as it fails to account for the Western reliance on colonisation of land, labour and resources that yielded the requisite wealth for the scale and rate of development in the West (Crossman, 2017, para. 9). It has interesting parallels with International Development as they are both synonymous with economic development and its relevance on an international scale Malthusianism Malthusianism is the idea that population growth is potentially exponential while the growth of the food supply is arithmetical at best (En.wikipedia.org, 2017). • 9. John Scopes Controversy The summer of 1925 was a controversial period of time in the town of Dayton, Tennessee. There had been a law that banned evolution taught in classrooms; the American Civil Liberties Union challenged said law with the help of John Scopes, who was a teacher that taught the theory of evolution in his classroom. In the trial, Clarence Darrowrepresented Scopes and faced off William Jennings Bryan, who was against evolution being taught and a well known criminal defense lawyer. In the first section of the book, before the trial, the foundation for the controversy was arranged. Charles Dawson discovered bones and other fragments of a skull that were known as the Piltdown skull. The Piltdown skull was first thought to have been from a normal ape, but later evidence collected from Arthur Smith Woodward said otherwise. The skull was said to have been from an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scopes fine and conviction were overturned later on a technicality, but the debate between the anti evolutionists and modernists continued over evolution and religion in the classroom subject matter long after the trial was over. Many books were written about the Scopes Trials that described what happened such as Only Yesterday: An Informal History of the Nineteen Twenties, and Inherit the Wind. The author of Only Yesterday, Fredrick Lewis Allen, described the trials very simply as a loss for fundamentalism and many others followed in his description. Political and public views from this case also changed, which led toward the idea of creation to be taught in schools rather than so much emphasis on evolution being banned. This led to religious practices in schools began to diminish as the years went on as well. As more arguments arose and settled, the law that banned evolution in school was finally repealed in ... • 10. 8th Grade Singing Hello, There are quite a few pedagogical reasons why Rachel and I have decided to combine both choirs. Below are just a few. My 8th grade boys were having a hard time singing do to voice changes. I tried to keep the boys up in their falsetto and while this worked for a few boys the others we not able to produce certain notes. When boys voices start to change it can result in them only being able to sing a very limited amount of notes. We worked on high trills, sliding, humming, yawning, held long tones, among many of other to help support their changing voices. After our first concert I talked with my boys and they had mentioned that they felt very discouraged about singing because some of them simply are not producing notes or can only sing in a low rumble. Rachel mentioned to me that her boys were just starting to transition and she was noticing large gaps in her group as well. Combining both groups would result in a higher confidence level, tone production, and create a full choir sound. This is one of the reasons why we combined the groups. ... Although our Planned Course document does not differentiate between grade levels it is known in the musical world that 8th grade choir should be able to sing in easy three part harmony by the end of the year. Seventh graders are just being introduced into it by the end. The 8th graders have taken on the bulk of the three part harmony however having a small number of students and a group of boys with ever changing voices makes 3 part harmony almost impossible. To promote healthy singing and a confident choir it is important for them to be combined. Because the music is more difficult it will encourages the 7th graders to rise to the level of the 8th graders so when I have these students next year they have a great ... • 12. Internal And External Stakeholders There are two kinds of stakeholders in any organization i.e. internal and external. the internal stake holders are people within company that can be impacted by the actions of company and in turn influence the actions of company and the external ones have similar function but they reside outside the organizational boundaries (Needles, Powers, and Crosson, 2013). in case of Philips one of the major internal stake holders are its employees, such that the employees give innovative ideas and feedback to Philips and the company rewards them in return in form of acknowledgement, rewards and compensation as they believe that employees have paramount role in customer satisfaction. Employees have interest in the financial statements and the indices of financial operations presented in the annual report so that they can have an idea of the ability of company to keep them employed and give them adequate salaries and benefits. Therefore, from this point, the tracks would then be built over the land for a particular distance before the construction works descended into the Monocacy Valley6. Hence, as a result, this allowed for the railroad to be extended reaching other regions over the consecutive years inbetween 1831 to 1853 when the tracks reached West Virginia. Therefore, in the early 1830 s, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company was granted the permission by the state of Maryland to also construct rail tracks that would run from the city of Baltimore to the capital city of Washington D.C7. Olivia and her friends arrived to school, called Jennifer s School for Girls, located in lousy Philadelphia. Their ugly, tan uniforms were so hot, as usual. The cameras were top notch, so the girls couldn t take their stupid jackets off. The girls wondered what school would be like in some other place, where it wasn t so hot and unfair. The principal walked by and all of the girls ran off. Olivia and all of her friends feared that horrible lady. Not surprised. Ms. Principal is feared, and it s gloomy as usual. They always watched, and thought, watched, and thought, until the bell rang. The rest of the day Olivia wondered, Boys are so lucky... They have everything... Why are we so neglected? What did we ever do? Everything was so confusing to a second grade girl in an unfair world. Olivia and her friends talked to Mrs. Lark, We don t deserve this, it s like we are forgotten, broken off from everything. Giving someone equal rights does not infringe or take away rights from them, it just makes it illegal to enforce your prejudice and hate. British statesman and philosopher Edmund Burke once said, Those who don t know history are destined to repeat it. During the Cherokee Indian Removal, the Cherokee Indians were forced to be removed by the U.S. troops because of discovery of gold leading them to be removed, and discrimination towards the Cherokees. First the U.S. troops wanted to remove all Cherokees because of the discovery of gold. In this situation, the Cherokees had valuable land that could be used for farming. It tracks to story of Anton Steenwijk, whose family was killed by the Germans as a retaliation against the assassination of a Nazi collaborator and police officer, Fake Ploeg. Anton Steenwijk cannot be a whole, complete person until the symbolons come together. So, why didn t the author allow this? The novel is divided into five episodes, each using the concept of symbolons as a climax or otherwise integral part. Judicial review is the power of the courts to determine whether acts of congress and executive are in accord with the U.S. Constitution. This is not technically found within the text of the Constitution itself, but the court established this doctrine in the case of Marbury v. Madison. In 1803 during Thomas Jefferson s presidency, the Supreme Court of the U.S. was asked to decide the case of Marbury v. Madison. The case presented a monumental clash that gave the federal courts the power to determine the constitutionality of actions by the president and congress. Analyzing all of the legal and historical ramification, Chief Justice John Marshall devised a solution for deciding the case. He did this so the other 2 branches would accept the role of the courts and declare them unconstitutional. He did this by limiting the authority of all three branches, including the judicial branch. Critical Pedagogy And The Reggio Emilia Critical pedagogy and The Reggio Emilia approach on play based learning should be merged into early childhood education as obtaining the skills to critically analyze and problem solve has the potential to change society and thus the potential to change the world. Critical pedagogy stems from the idea that there is an unequal social structure in our society which is based upon class, race and gender. It has been formulated and influenced by many psychologists and philosophers including John Dewey and Paulo Freire. Critical pedagogy is an attempt at freedom from oppression through democratic critical thinking. In his speech, Silent No More , Gordon Brown urges his audience to have the confidence in saying no to Scotland s independence. Since the Act of Union in 1707, Scotland has been a part of the UK. Until 1997, all important decisions regarding Scotland and the rest of the UK were made by the Westminster Parliament in London. However, Scotland has always maintained its own education system, law and justice system, church, and sports teams (the Guardian). In 1979, a referendum was held ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He begins with saying that the vote is not about whether or not Scotland is nation; we are, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. ( Silent No More ). Brown says this in order to exaggerate the fact that Scotland has always been its own standing nation and the vote will not change anything. This pushes patriotic audience members to vote no since Brown has confirmed that Scotland is already an independent nation. Gordon Brown repeats the phrase It s not about to clarify to the people who are not sure which side to vote on that either way the vote will not change any aspects of Scotland that he mentions. He then changes the pattern to say that the vote is about whether [they] want to break and sever every link between Scotland and the UK. This powerful line both defines what he believes independence will do to the union as well as delivering that statement using negative language. To conclude this section of the speech, Brown suggests that his audience tell the undecided, the waverers, [and] those not sure how to vote what Scotland and the UK have achieved together. Brown s intention is to unite and widen his audience of people who believe voting for independence is the wrong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her story is being told from the past and the whole plot of the play is leading up to her death. The play shows the journey of Thomasina growing up, to the eve of her seventeenth birthday where she would became a woman and have been married off to someone that her mother thought was worthy. Stoppard uses the present scenes well to introduce additional information that Hannah, Valentine and Bernard have found out about Thomasina s life which has not yet happened in story in the past. This highlights two of the three major themes of the play, science and sex, the third being literature. Thomasina is at an impressionable age, she admires Septimus and feels they have a special bond, as they have superior intelligence over the other members of the household. Thomasina s relationship with her brother Augustus is not very strong partly because he is away at boarding school for most of the year. Their relationship is highlighted in Scene seven when Augustus joins his sisters drawing lesson. Both Thomasina and Septimus gang up on him and make him aware of their superior intelligence. An example of this is when Septimus says to Augustus if you are so determined my lord This is a private joke between Septimus and Thomasina which infuriates Augustus and he feels left out. He then says Your peace is nothing to me sir, you do not rule over me , a reference to the fact that he will inherit the estate on day and that Septimus is just the tutor. In this scene, he is made to feel inferior to his sister, Thomasina, which he resents, as she is his female sister. Women during this period were not expected to be as highly educated as men. NFL Players Should NOT Blame For Traumatic Brain Injuries Although there is a growing feud between National Football League (NFL) players, their families, and the league itself concerning claims that management should be held responsible for the physical deterioration of former players, others claim that players knew the risks involved when they decided to play the game, therefore the NFL should not be held accountable for their injuries. Given the fact that there are not many sports as physically demanding on the human body as football, NFL players should be allowed to sue the NFL for concussions sustained while playing football. Sports news headlines have been abundant with stories concerning former NFL players currently suffering from headaches, loss of memory, dementia, and early Alzheimer s (Ellenbogen, 2010;Neumann, 2011). Even though the devastation of concussions is just beginning to rise to the surface, they have always been around. There appear to be several recent cases involving former and current NFL players committing suicide that was influenced by some of the suffering due to medical maladies associated with playing football (Amen, 2011). Many skeptics of football related concussions have indicated such health issues are coincidental and people commit suicide for different reasons; or that early Alzheimer s as well as dementia are known to develop with age (Casson, 2010). Recently attention has been given to the fact that there may be a link between various cases (Nowinski, 2006). • 39. Female Empowerment In Buffy The Vampire Slayer Until 24 hours ago, I had never seen Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Growing up, I heard much about this show from friends, family, and the internet. The general consensus surrounding Buffy was that she was, and still is, a symbol of female empowerment. However, I have always been skeptical. Is the only way to empower a female character is to make her fight vampires? Both Gwyn Symonds s article and my first episode of Buffy have addressed these concerns. Symonds discusses the sharing of genderroles as opposed to gender role reversal through the characters of Buffy and Spike. Rather than Spike adopting purely feminine traits and Buffy adapting traditionally masculine traits as a means of empowerment, the two share characteristics and tropes that can be found in both genders. Symonds indicates that these are tentative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although most women in media no longer wield a stake and kill vampires, these women are still usually depicted practicing violence, such as Scarlett Johansson s character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These women are given typically masculine traits and tropes such as aggressiveness and a lack of emotion. Although this is an improvement from tropes such as the damsel in distress, women are once again being fit into the confines of a box. Writers continue to create women that can be defined in a trope, rather than an original character with a unique set of characteristics. This will also cause female characters to lack depth. Scarlett Johansson s character of the Black Widow, despite being a central character with multiple reappearances in the series, lacked a back story and any character development until Avengers: Age of Ultron where her origin was finally explored. Radiation therapy can be useful in all stages of breast cancer, however Stage I and II radiation therapy with lumpectomy is recommended. The ongoing research identifies without radiation treatment there is a relatively high chance of cancer recurrence up to 35%; with radiation as an adjuvant therapy the cancer risk decreases to 5 10% (MCGWC, 2007). Radiation treatment also accompanies a mastectomy if axillary lymph nodes test positive, a tumor is greater than five centimeters, or margin borders of the tumor are narrow between healthy cells and tumor cells (MCGWC, 2007). Systemic therapy. Both surgery and radiation therapy target tumor cells in a specific region. However, tumor cells can migrate and metastasize to other regions in the body through the lymph system. Adjuvant systemic therapy may be beneficial depending on staging, grade, tumor size, cell proliferation and oncogene activation.
