SIDS Essay
Educating Parents and Caregivers on the Prevention of SIDS
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the unexplained death of an infant less than one year of
age after having done a complete postmortem examination and investigation of the scene of death.
There are no causes that have been found that make it clear as to why SIDS is so common. The
rate of SIDS decreased dramatically when the Back to Sleep campaign was started to encourage
parents and caregivers that infants were placed on their back while sleeping (Hockenberry Wilson,
2015, p. 473). The most common ways that these deaths have occurred are the infant s sleeping
environments and their positioning. Research shows that infants that sleep in the prone position are
most at risk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
42). The cause of SIDS is still unknown but autopsies have been reliable in showing consistent
findings pathologically that reveal whether a child has pulmonary edema or intrathoracic
hemorrhages that could possibly confirm a diagnosis. Autopsies should be done in every infant and
the results should be shared with the parents as soon as they are completed (Hockenberry Wilson,
2016, p. 476).
Important critical assessments to make regarding SIDS is identifying risk factors that could
potentially lead to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and ensuring to educate the caregivers on
techniques to prevent these deaths. Some complications that may arise with SIDS could be a
sense of hopelessness for the family of the infant. The parents may feel guilty and blame
themselves for the death of their child. To appropriately care for this family, important NANDA
nursing diagnoses for SIDS would be the Risk for Complicated Grieving related to Loss of Child
secondary to SIDS and the Risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome related to Deficient Knowledge
of Prevention Techniques secondary to Unsafe Sleeping Environment.
Important teachings to assist the family in understanding SIDS is ensuring that they know what the
risk factors are: maternal smoking, maternal alcohol use, co sleeping, prone sleeping, side lying
positions, and soft bedding. Parents must be educated on some protective factors that could help in
decreasing the risk of SIDS

The Theory Of Multiple Intelligences
Introduction In this investigation related to intelligence cognitive and learning as a style of
individual differences, explanation the complex process of learning through of the intelligences.
Howards Gardner developed the theory of multiple intelligences thirty years ago, explain the
intelligence is the profile and each individual has different ways to learn, he affirm has seven
intelligences differ in their thinking, feeling, and behavior. No two people are alike, yet no two
people are unlike Gardner (1983). Gardner s theory has been adopted by many schools, has an
impact in the education system, a lot of teacher s included on their bloom s taxonomy the different
intelligences to understand how the information is absorbed, processed, and retained during
learning process, utilizing the tools to deliver instruction effectively. There are environmental,
cognitive and emotional variables that play an important role in the learning process. Multiple
Intelligences Theory A learning theory is an attempt to describe how people and animals learn;
thereby helping us understands the inherently complex process of learning. Gardner theories of
multiple intelligences should empower learners , not restrict them to one modality of learning. He
studies intelligence where individuals differ is in the strength of these intelligences and in the ways
in which such intelligences are involved and combined to carry out different responsibilities, solve

The Pros And Cons Of Fundamentalism
2.6Roots of Fundamentalism
Fundamentalism makes the twentieth century despondent. It affects almost all major religious
traditions like Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Eliminate fundamentalism

I Do Believe That If You Haven t Learnt About Sadness,...
I do believe that if you haven t learnt about sadness, you cannot appreciate happiness. Nana
Mouskouri. Nana Mouskouri came up with this quote during her singing career, when a fan
asked her how she came to be such an amazing singer. Nana Mouskouri mentioned that she had a
lot of rough patches along the way with managers dropping her, but in the end, she ended up on
top. In other words, it will be easier to appreciate the good times if you ve already been through
bad times. This quote is appealing because it applies to a variety of situations. Every person has
hard times, and every person has happy times, but this quote could bring the two together.
Therefore, many people would agree with this quote. Many different people lived by this quote, and
they ended up appreciating the good times more after they went through the bad ones.
One person that followed this quote is Nelson Mandela; He worked hard through legal troubles,
relationship problems, and accusations for something he wanted for a long time. These long and
tedious times, including the lengthy court trials, led to racial tension ease, which Mandela wanted
for a long time (Academic American Encyclopedia). He went through the long trials until he got
his wish of the racial tension ease. People should live by this quote because it demonstrates there
are sad times in life, like Mandela s court trials, but once people get through them, they can be more
appreciative of what makes them happy. In Mandela s case, what

Atomic Theory And The Study Of Matter
Atomic Theory and the Study of Matter Matter is anything made up of atoms and molecules and
the study of these things called atoms dates back to the time of Ancient Greece to the present. The
information about atoms known today is certainly much greater than what was known centuries
ago. First, there was only hypotheses on this idea that everything in the world is made up of tiny,
unseeable particles. As technology advanced, these hypotheses were tested, critiqued, modified, and
built upon. A mass of knowledge is known regarding atoms, thanks to the research of numerous
chemists and physicists. The atomic theory is the building block to the study of matter just as the
atomis the building block to all matter. Around 400 BCE was when the Greek philosopher
Democritus, alone with his teacher Leucippus, the idea of the atom was born (the word atom
comes from the Greek word atomos or atomon meaning that which cannot be split ). This was a
completely new concept, and Democritus s theory stated that atoms were indestructible and
homogenous, and different states of matter were made up of differently shaped atoms: solids had
sharp and pointy atoms and liquids had large round atoms. Later these ideas would be proved
inaccurate, however, this was the beginning of the discovery of the atom even though the people of
this time had no instruments capable of testing the theory. It was not until centuries later that the
atomic theory was truly looked at again. In 1803 an English

Analysis Of The Novel All Quiet On The Western Front By...
Borges`s writing style combines realistic events and fictitious descriptions using characterization
to uncover a deeper issue with realistic writing styles. Borges develops his realistic plot in his
exposition by setting the story during the world war l in the statement On page 22 of Lidell
Hart`s History of World War l you will read that an attack against the Serre Montauban line by
thirteen British divisions (supported by 1, 400 artillery pieces), planned for the 24th of July, 1916,
had to be postponed until the morning of the 29th (55). When the reader is introduced to the main
character we get the impression that he is a part of this historical mission when he says I care
nothing for a barbarous country which imposed upon me the abjection of being a spy (56).
However; as the plot moves forward Borges hints with intertexuality,... Show more content on

Two circumstances gave me the correct solution of the problem. One: the curious legend that Ts` ui
Pen had planned to create a labyrinth which would be strictly infinite. The other: a fragment of a
letter I discovered ] (59). Although a labyrinth is a real place, the author uses it symbolically to
represent the book, garden of forking paths. By incorporating a different culture, historical details,
and a unique storyline Borges includes both realistic text and ficitional work. In John King`s essay,
The Argentinean Context of Borges Fantastic Fiction, critical author Bioy concludes that Borges`s
manipulates standard writing styles for the short story because in attacking the psychological novel,
Borges reminded novelists that they had forgotten how to tell a story. He has often remarked that if
one reads detective stories and then takes up a novel afterwards, the latter appears shapeless

Theme Of Corruption In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a man is born innocent and is corrupted by
society. Golding illustrates innocence and corruption with ethical, and emotional appeals based on
human nature. Group influence, a distracted society, and group influence can corrupt a man. With
that said, innocence is only temporary.
Ordinarily, individuals are born innocent, although man signify corruption by society through group
influence. For example, a text in a Newsela article reads I ransacked. I pillaged. I took people s
things by force. ( In a war, children without a childhood 1) For instance, in Lord of the Flies, the
littluns chanted, Kill the beast! Cut its throat! Spill the blood! (Golding 52) You all already see
that these kids are brainwashed by Jack. When society changes, innocence becomes lost. Overall,
people around you can affect who you become.
Moreover, is a corruption of a distracted society. Ralph is left, holding the conch, with no one but
Piggy. (Golding 38) The littluns didn t realize that they were becoming more savage each day.
They were unaware and too distracted by other implements in order towards noticing what they re
turning into. In an article, a man said Please, God, protect my family. (Kyle Hopkins 2) The family
was at risk for turbulence. The man knew of the situation, but the rest of the family was oblivious
of, to the reality from the outside. Distractions expose the benevolent and inadequate in all people.
In addition to the topic, fear causes the loss of innocence leading towards corruption. My dignity
was on the floor having to grab a piece of my dead friend and eat it in order to survive. ( I had to
eat a piece of my friend to survive 1) The man bespeaks terror onto death, remarkably he did
something inhuman in order for him to survive on the frontier. To illustrate this theme, the text in
LOTF says ...great shuddering spasms of grief that seemed to wrench his whole body. (Golding
202) This is significant because it shows that the boys fear the guilt. The boys then realize what
they what they ve done, who ve they killed and what atrocities they ve committed. In other hands, it
illustrates that a man can switch up his morals when he s scared.

What s Eating Gilbert Grape Character Becky Analysis
In the film What s eating Gilbert Grape by Lasse Hallstrom, Johnny Depp plays the main
character Gilbert Grape who lives in a lifeless remote town called Endora, with his morbidly obese
mother and mentally handicapped brother Arnie. As a result of his family issues, Gilbert is left to
take full responsibility of Arnie while working full time to support his family. One characterI
admired in this film is the character Becky who is Gilbert s love interest. She is the catalyst for
Gilbert as she is the one who opens Gilbert s eyes to the world around him and influence him to
taking action on getting what he wants. The director uses dialogue, camera shots, music and

Becky objects his remark and says This place is as good as any other. The director then shows a
mid shot of Gilbert furrowing his eyebrows to Becky s remark. This shows that Gilbert is
shocked to see that Becky doesn t find Endora a dead end town unlike himself. This scene also
demonstrates Becky s passion for travelling and seeing the world. Becky s grandmother says I ve
spent most of my whole life in the same spot; anyways she encouraged me to get out! Becky s
positive attitude and passion towards life influenced her grandmother to do the same and to follow
in her footsteps. I greatly admire Becky for encouraging her grandmother to get out more as it has
made her grandmother happy with her life. This scene also foreshadows the fact that Becky will not
only influence her grandmother, but eventually Gilbert as well.
Becky is self determined and helps Gilbert to realise that in order for him to be happy with his
life, he needs to act and stop being passive. In the scene with Gilbert and Becky by the lake at
night, Becky talks to Gilbert about his father s suicide. She asks him if he thinks it was his father s
fault he died. Gilbert responds with No, nobody knew what he felt, he was just sort of there, we
tried to get him to play around, laugh, get him to smile, but...nothing...just like he was already dead.

Executive Summary:
This report puts together a workbook with each version and summary comparison for the August
28th meeting or work with Bishop Schol and others before the meeting. This comparison should
be viewed as a first draft and for comparison and review only. As we continue to update the index
we strive for new concepts and to make it easier. Thus, we research, reflect, refine, and redefine. As
we move through these steps we wish for input and guidance from all.
Two models were proposed. First, the original 2010 model which has been continually edited,
henceforth referred to as TowersWatson, breaks the vital measures into standardized quartiles.
Due to the complexity of this model, an additional model was created. Bishop Schol s model, now
referred to as Schol, simplifies the index into basic calculations. More details about these models
will be explained and analyzed below.
A comparison between the two models showcases the stark variation between high vitality. Within
the Schol model over twenty thousand churches are considered highly vital; however, in the
TowerWatson model less than nine thousand churches are considered highly vital. Moreover, there
are variations among growth and expense factors.
Schol model considers medium sized churches vital, while larger churches are typically medium
vital. Conversely, TowerWatson model s missional and financial variables increase from best to
worse relative to the vitality scale. For

One of the most widely used post workout supplements is a protein shake. The typical whey
protein shake contains twenty four grams of protein. While chocolate milk contains only eight
grams. In an eight ounce glass of chocolate milk there are approximately two hundred calories. A
protein shake has 120 calories. A single serving of chocolate milk contains five grams of fat, three
of which are saturated fats. The whey protein shake contains one total gram of fat. Both drinks
offer many health benefits but, as a post workout supplement a protein shake would be the best
choice. When it comes to workout drinks, it is best to look for something with lots of glycogen and
protein. The common exercise routine breaks down muscle mass. The muscles in the human body
need protein to remain firm, and glycogen to replenish the cells within them. Supplements should
be consumed two hours following a workout. Dairy products are not recommended as a
replacement for post workout supplements because they can cause vomiting and diarrhea.
Therefore, chocolate milk would not be the best to use after physical activity. Although many
people prefer post workout protein shakes, it depends on the athlete s preference. Exercise is
rigorous and causes the body to loose many electrolytes through sweat. Powerade and Gatorade are
the most common electrolyte replenishing sports drinks. Although these beverages help to repair
the body, they are less helpful than chocolate milk.

Kraft Heinz Case Study
Strategic Issues and Actions
Strategy Model
The strategy of Kraft Heinz dramatically changed after the merger in 2015. The new strategy is
considered to be iconoclastic. This is because the new leaders of the company are not reminiscing
in the past or using the former strategies that worked for the company. They did a complete
overhaul to the leadership and the strategies that worked for the company. The new company
objectives are as follows: 1. Profitable sales growth, 2 Best in class margins, and 3. A superior
return of capital. The company will no longer let employees slip in to the cracks and gain a
retirement, it must be earned.
Since 3G Capital is the holding company for Kraft Heinz they follow the meritocracy model set
forth by 3G. Colvin (2017) discussed the fact that those who do good move forward and up,
those that do bad get fired. It is almost biblical Don t be deceived: God is not mocked. For
whatever a man sows he will also reap (Galatians 6:7, Holman Christian Standard Bible). Colvin
explains this when he discusses the new CEO:
Kraft Heinz CEO Ber¬nardo Hees, for example, first became a CEO in 2005 at a company called
All America Latina Logistica, owned by a 3G Capital predecessor. He was then made CEO of
Burger King, a 3G Capital holding since 2010. He moved up to be CEO of Heinz in 2013 and now
of Kraft Heinz.

Before this could happen there were a few problems on the camp that the recruits had to

The Myth of Money and Success
The American Dream is different for everyone, though it is most commonly associated with
success, freedom, and happiness. The concept of the American Dream seems to have dwindled
from where it was in the past few generations. It has gone from success, freedom, and happiness to
having lots of money and the nicest possessions. In today s society, we all hope and strive for this
dream, but how many actually achieve the American Dream? Is it a reasonable goal that Americans
should strive for, or is it a myth that only leads to self destruction? According to Horatio Alger and

Today, as well as back in the 1800 s when the story was written, most people s dreams are to
achieve success. This formally became known as The American Dream . Although this may
seem strange for everyone to have the same idea, it really isn t when you look at it with an open
perspective. Each and every person s perception of success is extremely different and individual,
which makes everyone s dreams different. There may be people who strive for big goals, and
there may be others who take it one day at a time, achieving happiness on a less formal level. In
comparing the time period of the story to our society today, there are many similarities and
differences to consider. According within the world we live today, people tend to set much higher
goals and expectations for themselves, whereas, in Ragged Dick, it was more of a day to day type
situation. When people set smaller, more realistic goals, it results in more happiness and comfort
in their lifestyle. However, in today s world, Americans have become so incredibly competitive
and successful, that the standards have been significantly raised to the point where personal
happiness is no longer good enough. After reading a novel like Horatio Alger s Ragged Dick, you
subconsciously make yourself realize the important underlying message that he is trying to portray.

Performance Comparison Of Industrial Project Delivery Systems
6. PERFORMANCE COMPARISON OF INDUSTRIAL PROJECT DELIVERY SYSTEMS 6.1
Research Setting The performance comparison was done using the same 439 Industrial project
data that was utilized for the correlation analysis. The three delivery systems compared are
Design Build, CM at Risk and the traditional Design Bid Build systems. The study aims to find
significant difference between the performances of fast track delivery systems (DB and CMR)
and the traditional system. The project performance was compared in terms of schedule, cost
and change performance using the same metrics as done for the Spearman s correlation analysis.
6.2 Assumptions Validation The performance metrics that were tested were first checked for the
normality assumption. None of the variables satisfied normality according to the Q Q plots.
Shapiro Wilk test was conducted on each variable to ascertain the deviations from normal
distribution. The cost performance generated a W = 0.918631 with a p value 0.0001 which

Gout And Diet Prevention Study Essay
Recently, a gout and diet prevention study was published in by Dr. Hyon K. Choi and Gary
Curhan in Arthritis Care Research s June 2007 issue which examined the fact that, contrary to
popular belief, coffee may not be as bad for gout sufferers as previously thought. Although gout
patients have been told to stay away from coffee, there may be an ingredient in the beverage that
can actually help to lower the uric acid levels in the body.
Though it is not yet known what part of coffee is responsible for lowering the uric acid levels in
the body, it is known that it is not just the caffeinecontent, as the same results were not found from
drinking caffeinated tea. Whatever the cause, when participants drank one to two cups of coffee
every day, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar, though not equal, results were witnessed. This is why it is now thought that components
of coffee other than soley caffeine are responsible for lowering the uric acid levels in the body.
Considering that until this study, gout sufferers had been discouraged from drinking coffee,
many gout sufferers may now be wondering what other gout and diet prevention beliefs may
soon turn out to be disproved. For example, though tea has not been found to reduce uric acid
levels in the body as has now been demonstrated with coffee, tea is often thought to be
unacceptable as a part of a gout and diet prevention strategy. Instead, tea can indeed be a part of a
gout diet as long as it is consumed in moderation and as long as its dehydrating effect is
compensated for by taking in additional water.
It was also believed at one time that eating rich foods was the root cause of gout. Indeed, some
rich foods are high in proteins and purines and therefore may contribute to gout flare ups, however
low fat dairy products have now been shown to have a preventative effect. Also Gout is believed to
be caused by many factors, including being

Key Implications Of The Solow Model
The Solow model is widely considered to be the standard neoclassical economic growth model
which serves as the basis for understanding economic growth. I will first introduce the two basic
equations that the Solow model is built around, discussing the main assumptions made along the
way. I will then present the key equation of the Solow model and discuss its results and
implications. I will then address why it is desirable to use log linearization, and how it can be used
to study the dynamics near the steady state. We will then briefly look into the empirical results of
Mankiw et al. (1992) and what they mean for the Solow model. We begin with the aggregate
production function of the model. Let us denote output (Y), capital (K), labour (L) and the index of
productive efficiency (A). The production function can then be written as:
Y=F(K,AL) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the contrary, if a is high then the rate of convergence is low because diminishing returns set in
slowly.
The differential equation for output convergence is quite similar. Assuming Cobb Douglas
technology we can show that y=k^a which then implies that y М‡/y=a k М‡/k by taking logs and
differentiating with respect to time. Here a is translating a given growth rate of capital into a given
growth rate of output. Substituting into the previous differential equation we get a new one for the
growth rate of output:
y ̇/y≈ λ[logy logy^*]
The growth rate in each of these expressions is linear in the gap from the steady state measured in
logarithms.
Solving both differential equations and re arranging we get: logy(t) =(e^( О»t) )logy(0)+(1 e^(

Comparing Psycho And The Silence Of The Lambs
Psycho (1960) and The Silence of The Lambs (1991) are both influential Horror films of their
time. Psycho came with the emergence of a Psychological Horror , a subtype in the 60s in
which a new trend had grown in Horror films to create a Monster out of everyday people,
encouraging new fear in audiences in the US. It is based on the Novel by Robert Bloch, and
explores Marion Crane in a secluded Motel after stealing a large sum of money and subsequently
being murdered by Norman Bates. The Silence of The Lambs explores serial killer and cannibal,
Hannibal Lecter, while he is incarcerated, and the protagonist Clarice Starling, an FBI trainee. It
also focuses on Transgender Serial Killer, Buffalo Bill, who is the secondary antagonist in the film.

Critics have stated the character of Buffalo Bill is a transmisogynistic representation, stating:
Silence of the Lambs actually actively promoted a transmisogynistic idea, [...] that trans women are
the ultimate representation of male violence [...] Silence of the Lambs is so fundamentally a work
of transmisogyny (Truitt, 2016).
At the time of The Silence of The Lambs release, operations for transgender people were only
approved by very sexist and homophobic criteria, based on whether the person would pass as
their preferred gender after the operation. If a transgender person were to watch The Silence of
The Lambs, it would probably be taken as great offense, especially as the character Buffalo Bill is
repeatedly referred to by the incorrect pronouns such as he , and Hannibal Lecter even denies that
she is a transgender at all.
Sigmund Freud is considered to be the founder of Psychoanalytical Theory, which includes the
Oedipus complex, described as a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex
and a concomitant sense of rivalry with the parent of the same sex; a crucial stage in the normal

Psycho, who had clear inappropriate attachments with his mother when she was alive, and

Nacirema Culture Analysis
For us to properly learn about culture, we must understand the meaning of cultural relativism and
ethnocentrism. The two concepts challenge one another. Reading the article, we must pull away
from our ethnocentric views and think critically about the Nacirema people s. However, the
description of the culturecreates an ideology that is hard to agree with. For example, the Nacirema
peoples take part in a rite that involves hog hairs and magical powders. The Nacirema rituals do
sound strange and displeasing but, we have to learn to recognize our ethnocentric judgments.
An anthropologist will try to read and understand the Nacirema culture with the notion of being
culturally relative. With this way of thinking in mind, we could study the Nacirema peoples without
any judgment. If we can come to terms with our ethnocentric views, we can quickly analyze the
wrong way of thinking. Therefore, we can try to understand the Nacirema culture through their
shoes. If we keep looking at their cultural in a primarily ethnocentric perspective, we would not
have found the similarities between the Nacirema culture and our own. ... Show more content on

Self Defense In To Kill A Mockingbird
In this week s section section of To Kill A Mockingbird our mystery man who killed Mr. Robert
E. Lee Ewell is not valued. I think this because Atticus try the suspects in court for murder.
Instead of just appreciating that his kids are okay. For example in the text it says, It ll come
before county court...it was clear cut self defense, but I ll have to go to the office and hunt
up.(365) This proves the mystery man who killed Mr. Bob Ewell is not valued. This is because
Atticus tried to put the suspects on trial for self defense. The mystery man was just trying to help

performance based, and process goals. Short term goal setting means setting a goal that will be
accomplished in the near future, easily attainable and part of your daily routine. Long term goal

Although by the end of the nineteenth century China s population has reached millions, most
Chinese peasants had never encountered foreigners or Western missionaries. Nevertheless, the
Boxers held a strong belief that foreigners and Christian missionaries were responsible for the
breakdown in the fabric of simple Chinese peasant society and they dishonored their traditional
spiritual and community. Because the missionaries are protected by the flag and Treaty of
Tientsin, they have the right to rent and buy land to build churches and allowing them to move

Applying the Concept of Bipower to China s One Child Policy
Michel Foucault was a French philosopher and one of the most influential social theorists of the
second half of the twentieth century. He was born on the 15th of October 1936 and passed away
on the 25th June 1984. His theories addressed the relationship between power and knowledge, and
how they are used as a form of social control. His analysis breaks the concept of power apart, and
his theory explains differences in various modes of power. In his study the History of Sexuality, he
explores in the firth volume called Right of Death and Power over Life the triangle of power: (I)
sovereign power; (II) disciplinary power; and (III) biopower. In this essay I will describe the
relationship between each power and apply the concept of biopower to China s one child Policy.
First what is Biopower? Well according to Foucault, biopower is a technology of power, which
is a way of managing and controlling entire populations. Biopower led to the emergence of the
modern nation state and capitalism. Foucault describes it as an explosion of numerous and
diverse techniques for achieving the subjugations of bodies and the control of populations
(Foucault 140). The primary and most important goal of biopower is life. The government goal is
to secure and improve people s lives. Power is exercised exclusively over life, and is exercised
either to foster life or to disallow it. Biopower according to Foucault is a power that exerts a
positive influence on life, that endeavours to

The first half of the nineteenth century was a time of emergence, change, and uncertainty in the
American Southwest. Randolph B. Campbell celebrates this historical time period in his novel,
Sam Houston and the American Southwest, as well as the life and times of the southwest s hero
himself, Sam Houston. Sam Houston provided guidance to southwestern expansion in the United

sparking the Texas revolution. He believed that independence from Mexico was necessary saying

Houston s role as commander in chief of the army was very important in winning the war for
Texas Independence. After the capture of Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto, many of the
soldiers in the Texas Army wanted to execute him on the spot. But because of Sam Houston s
level head, he knew that his prisoner was the key to removing all Mexicans soldiers from Texas
without further bloodshed , and Jacinto became his password to Texas heroism forever (p. 85

republic alive until it became a part of his mother country (p. 198). Sam Houston was a man of
many faces. Whether it was a friend to the Indians, governor of two States, or president of the
Republic of Texas, he always stayed true to his practicality and fought for what was right. Because
of this Sam Houston s name will synonymously remain with Texas Independence, and forever be

Public Sector in India
Overview of Central Public Sector Enterprises
The government owned corporations play a pivotal role in the economic development of emerging
economies because their participation is higher in the industrial and commercial activities of these
economies. Resource constraints and limited scope of the private sector in the early stages of
development and planning have set the stage for predominance of the public enterprises in these
economies. Thus, public sectors in the leading developing countries of the world (including the
countries in the BRIC region) play a very important role.

The eighth Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki moon once said, The clear and present
danger of climate change means we cannot burn our way to prosperity. We already rely too heavily
on fossil fuels. We need to find a new, sustainable path to the future we want. We need a clean
industrial revolution ( Ban Ki moon ). Collectively, we burn fossil fuels without recognition of the
repercussions it has on the environment and our well being. Air pollution causes climate change,
shown through the increase in greenhouse gases, and environmental and health effects. Although

Although Keeling s research was conducted on carbon dioxide levels, other greenhouse gases have
seen a large increase since the industrial revolution. Water vapor is the most copious greenhouse gas
. Water vapor is only termed as a greenhouse gas for its strong correlation with the average
worldwide temperature. Similar to Earth s temperature, water vapor levels have gradually been
increasing, leading to an increase in precipitation. Another greenhouse gas is methane, a
hydrocarbon gas. Methane levels are heavily influenced by human activities, such as rice cultivation
and manure management. Methane is a deadlier gas to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide is, but
carbon dioxide is more abundant in the atmosphere ( Global Climate Change ). As these greenhouse
gases continue to permeate the atmosphere, they absorb heat normally radiated back toward space
and release this heat to the surface of the Earth.
Air pollution creates a variety of different effects on the environment. Many of air pollution s
effects are visible: the loss of ice on ice caps and the premature flowering of plants and trees. Air
pollution has a great effect on the weather forecast. As stated earlier, the warmer the Earth s surface
becomes the more water vapor is released into the atmosphere, this causes a variation of extreme
weather changes. Climate change affects every region

Hagar Leaves The House Of Abraham And Hagar
Honors Humanities Essay #1
How does it feel like if two people you love ask you to choose between them? Well this is
actually from the Story of Abraham and Hagar. Abraham had a wife named Sarah. Sarah could
not give him a child, so she told him to sleep with her maid servant so that she can give Abraham
a child for their family. Hagar became pregnant and had Ishmel. A few years later, Sarah became
pregnant and had Isaac. Sarah was not happy about Hagar living with Abraham so she chases Hagar
and Ishmael out. Abraham prays to god to not let Hagar and Ishmael die, and Hagar and Ishmael
get water. The Abraham Casting Out Hagar and Ishmael by Johann Friedrich Overbeck and The
Hagar Leaves the House of Abraham by Peter Paul Rubens both exhibit the Biblical story of Hagar
leaving Sarah and Abraham. As displayed by the expression of Abraham and the women in both
paintings, Overbeck s painting suggests that Abraham is trying to compromise and comfort both
women because of his two kids, whereas Rubens painting suggests that Abraham is a little afraid
and devastated of his wife Sarah so he steps back. Rubens painting displays Abraham as a man who
scared of his wife because Hagar does not have her child yet, while in Overbeck s painting,
Abraham is displayed as a guy who loves his children.
First, Judging by the hand gestures of Abraham exhibited by Overbeck s painting, suggests the
viewers that Abraham is trying to persuade both women to a compromise, while Ruben s painting

any other innovation, it would free up time for more creative thinking. In recent years, we have

People that are blind could then have the ability to drive wherever they so choose. In addition,

would drastically cut traffic tickets in half. You would also have more time for other things
while your car is driving you such as working on homework, talking on the phone, drinking
coffee, and the list goes on and on. There is a long list of positive things about driverless cars,
but there is another side to that coin. What happens when there is a failure from the computer or
other components of the car? Would this cause serious accidents and injuries or even the worst
case scenario death? According to the article Are We Ready for Driverless Cars, Currently, the
car s sensors are unable to cope with poor weather conditions like heavy rain and snow covered
streets . (Ibrahim Balkhy, 2013) Another unanswered question that has come up is who would
be at fault if an accident were to occur and how would it be paid for. This would undoubtedly
point the finger at the cars manufactures since there is no longer human error in the equation.
Lawyers would have a heyday. I think driverless cars would be safe about 95% of the time just
like flying an airplane or a jetliner but if an accident were to occur, it would most likely be
devastating. Finally, there is the issue about privacy. Autonomous cars have GPS Systems in

Factors That Affect Our Soil Quality And Increase Som Is...
From a practical point of view, anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) has been commonly used as a soil
conditioner to reduce erosion by clay flocculation and binding particles and stabilizing the outer
aggregate surfaces. Moreover, PAM is highly resistant to microbial degradation, with a
decomposition rate of в€
ј10% yr 1, which has led to its efficient use as a soilconditioner for long
periods. Wu et al. (2012) revealed that PAM showed a minor effect on 14C allocation in plant
parts and soil in a short term 14C labeling study. Except the observations of PAM
biotransformation, little information is available on the PAM efficiency on the microbial
activity in soils. In contrast, the agronomic benefits of biochar (BC) application to improve soil
quality and increase SOM is growing. Applying BC improves the physicochemical properties of
soil and maintains C and N sources, owing to a pronounced increase in plant growth and yield.
Moreover, wood biochar decreased the soil bulk density and enlarged diameter of aggregates,
thereby reducing soil loss. However, little is known about the effect of BC on soil microbial
populations and activities. BC or PAM showed minor effect on the decomposition of SOM based
on CO2 evolution because of the stability of these conditioners. A high portion of 14C maize
residues were stabilized in the soil after adding BC and PAM as the binders by the occlusion of
labile residue C into aggregates. Understanding the short term dynamics of C caused by PAM or

Daaethon And Daedalus And Icarus
The two myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus, use literary elements to show how Phaethon
and Icarus s prideful disregard of the advice of their elders lead to their deaths.
Both authors use conflict, characterization, and imagery to portray the main theme of prideful
disregard of the crucial knowledge and advice given to us by those who are older and wiser. The
main characters, Icarus and Phaethon, and their story of how they put their pride before their logic
and guidance teach us about the consequences of arrogance and ignorance. Conflict is used as a
literary element by both authors as an implement to portray the characters disregard of advice given
to them from their elders. To illustrate, in the story Phaethon, Phaethon gets into an argument with
Epaphus. He states, He taught me how to handle the reins (of the sun chariot, page . this is a lie he
tells to impress his friend who is talking about his moments about his own father, Zeus.
Afterwards, Epaphus says this is a lie, followed by Phaethon backing up his rash statement and
trying to impress his friend even more by saying, He would let me drive the sun chariot alone. .
This conflict sets the scene for Phaethon, rash and prideful, to go and try to ride the sun chariot..
This scene is foreshadowing the consequence of his rash decision of trying to prove himself to his
friend. Similarly, conflict in Daedalus and Icarus is shown when Daedalus is explaining to him the

binding. PCR2 and PCR clean up were completed again and the concentration of the sample was
averaged to be 147.9ng/ul. Since the concentrations of the samples were adequate, I moved onto
PNiC BSa4 cloning and prepared a sample to be DNA sequenced. RE digest was completed on
two PNIcBSa4 prep samples, with the gel indicating that both samples were successfully cut and
nano drop results indicating high purity levels with low concentrations (~32ng/uL). Results from
sequencing were nucleotide blasted and confirmed to be PNiCBSa4. I talked to a mentor about my
samples and was told that I probably needed a higher concentration ≥100ng/uL, for cloning to be
successful. In order to increase the concentration 4 samples of 50uL each were cut and PCR clean
up into one sample that had a concentration of 123.5ng/ul. The cloning protocol was completed
that week and when the plated were checked, no colonies were present on either of the two plates.
My first attempt at cloning failed. The process was completed again, and the sample concentration
was averaged to be 112.1ng/ul. The second time, only one

David Baltimore discovered a concerning the interaction between tumour viruses and the genetic

He discovered reverse transcriptase, which is the enzyme that transcribes DNA from RNA. When
he did that he discovered a certain class of viruses, that used a RNA template to recopy the
synthesis of DNA. His discovery overturned the genetic theory. The genetic theory belief is that
genetic information flows unidirectionally from DNA to RNA and then into its proteins. The
discovery he made along with Howard Temin, who had proposed the provirus hypothesis,
overturned the central dogma of molecular biology by showing that genetic information could
traffic bidirectionally between DNA and RNA.
People, specifically geneticists and doctors, used this discovery to help them with cures for the
Murine Leukemia virus and Rous Sarcoma virus. The depth of understanding that David Baltimore
brought to the science table made scientist understand more about the cell and how the cell deals
with the viruses that intrude it. The discovery that David Baltimore made proved that the scientists
current genetic theory was incorrect. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities for genetic
coding that the science world hadn t seen

The History of IBM Essay
International Business Machines Corporation, better known as IBM, is a corporation that is and

computers of today, almost all of IBM s products have been designed and developed to record,
process, communicate, store, or retrieve information. IBMhas been a leading developer and
innovator from the late 19th century up to today. IBM was officially incorporated in New York
City on June 6, 1911 as C T R, Computing Tabulating Recording Company. However, the true
origins of the company can be traced to the 19th century during which several smaller businesses

In Thomas s first 4 years, he more than doubled the revenues of the company as well as
expanded it to Asia, Europe, South America, and Australia. In 1917, C T R expanded to Canada
under a new name: International Business Machines Co., Limited. As the new decade rolled
around, Watson found that the name C T R was too limited and officially changed the name of
the company to International Business Machines Corporation. During the 1920 s, many new
products were created including the type 4 tabulator which allowed for subtracting numbers
(previously had to add negative numbers) and the standard duplicator machine. Other products
such as the card punch system were improved upon. As the Great Depression settled upon the
US in the 1930 s, IBM continued to grow despite other companies failing all around them. In
1935, when the Social Security Act was passed; IBM was ready with a large inventory of
equipment. The act brought IBM a huge government contract to maintain employment records
for 26 million people. This contract was called the biggest accounting operation of all time. In
the 1940 s, IBM began creating the first super computers. Starting with the Mark I, IBM created
a series of machines that were able to do calculations faster than ever before. In 1956, the first

Essay on Compare The Ostler and The Darkness Out There
Compare The Ostler and The Darkness Out There
In this essay I will compare two stories The Ostler, written in the
19th century by a man called Wilkie Coliins, and The Darkness Out
There, by Penelope Lively, written in the 20th century. They are both horror stories, a genre which
has been popular throughout the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. This is perhaps because, since we
are no longer scared on a daily basis, as would have been the case in medieval times, we need to
find an artificial way of creating the thrill.
I will look at the similarities and differences between the way each story is structured, the build up
of tension, the settings and the characters. First I will summarise each story and look at their 19th

The stories were written in different centuries. The Ostler was written in the 19th century and The
Darkness Out There was written in the 20th century. There are many differences between them
which make this obvious.
The most obvious of these differences is that an ostler is a profession that does not exist today.
They worked at inns, looking after the horses of travellers who were staying the night.
In The Ostler, when the main character, Isaac, discovers that his fiancГѓ e is the woman who tried
to murder him in his dream, he feels that he has to keep his word and marry her anyway, which
probably would not happen today, because people s ideas of what is right and wrong have
changed, and most people do not have such a strong sense of duty. Although the character of a
manipulative woman still appears in many stories, some aspects of Rebecca s background
would not appear in a 20th century story. She is obviously from an upper class family but has
somehow fallen . It is not clear how she came to be is the state she was when Isaac first met her,
but some of the most common ways were to get pregnant outside of marriage, or have an affair
with a married man. It is also possible that she has treated other men in the same way she treats
Isaac, and that this has somehow contributed to her downfall.
The language that is used in The Ostler also makes it clear that this is a 19th century story. Long
words, such

Emile Durkheim s Influence On Society
Г‰mile Durkheim was born in France in 1858 to a Jewish family and started attending a
rabbinical school at a young age but eventually decided not to continue on that path and instead

have played a pivotal roll in the rise of sociology. Durkheim believed that society shaped every
aspect of human thought and behavior. He promoted the importance of society and suggests that
without it things like art, family, laws and morality could not exist. He insists that although we are
all individual beings with the capability of making our own decisions, all of our life choices are
made within a sociological structure provide to us from the day were are born. He believed these
social ties were so important that we needed an entire discipline scientifically committed to
understanding it. He wanted data to be collected, studied and compared. Thus the field of Sociology
was born, and Durkheim considered the father of it. While attempting to understand the social
Durkheim was continuously led back to the religious. Durkheim found that religionand society were
absolutely synonymous and that one could not survive without the other stating, If religion has
given birth to all that is essential in society, it is because the idea of society is the soul of religion.

Freud on Happiness Essay

Freud on Happiness
The everlasting question of What is Happiness? has been inquired since the creation of men.
Unfortunately, the only agreed answer that humanity came up with is that all the creatures seek
happiness, but no one has the concrete directions for achieving it. Our libraries are overwhelmed
with books about happiness, but no dictionary definition explains which path men must take to be
happy. No mathematician gave us the axiom which we could use to solve the problem of living in
bliss. No scientist brought up the formula of fusing certain ingredients to produce the drink of
happiness . Still almost all the people consider that their ultimate purport in ... Show more content

To say it better would be to cite the words of Freud, himself: What we call happiness, in the
strictest sense, comes from the (preferably sudden) satisfaction of needs which have been dammed
up to a high degree (Freud 254).
Freud proposes the Principle of Satisfaction when aiming to be happy, in other words a problem
of satisfying a person s instinctual wishes (Freud 263). Consequently, he concludes that because
our appetite can never be fulfilled, the attainment of happiness will be nothing else than
pessimistic. Also, he notes, that not all pleasures or wishes can be satisfied as soon as they are
conceived. Freud presents the example of a baby, who, initially, believes that all his/her wishes
should be gratified, and only later learns, form the Reality Principle, the harsh truth, that the wishes
can not be satisfied instantaneously. More than that, life teaches men that in order to experience
happiness one must sacrifice the instant gratification of his/her desires in order to achieve
happiness in future. A simple example would be when a businessman decides to work overtime in
order to receive more money and, thus, receive more pleasure, of course temporary and in future.
So, Freud speculates on the conjecture that our universe or our world was created in such a way,
that we are not be able to live happily for a prolonged time (Farrell 11). He introduces the
Principle of Reality, the negative way of achieving happiness, when man strives to avoid

Allister had expected to pick up Tank for church and a lunch date after the service. Tank called on
Saturday evening to tell him he was feeling too sick to attend. When Monday came and went and

All day Tuesday, a wave of uneasiness drifted over him. He called Tank, and his voice mail

Information About The Festival Website
Website Review www.fallsfestival.com Fallsfestival.com is a website designed to supply their
target audience with information about the annual festival held over New Year, as a means of
digitally marketing and providing the links to purchase tickets.
Falls Music and Arts Festival is an annual, end of year, over 18s event, held in 4 separate
locations, that appeals to a range of people through the diverse lineup that hosts many genres of
music. The majority of attendees fall in the millennial category of 18 34 both male and female
(Rana 2014, Leeannji 2015).
Although this target audience is not majorly specific, it does give the designers of the Falls Festival
website more of a direct idea of who they are aiming to make the website appeal to. Castells
asked Kaestle what the secret was to appealing so specifically to a target audience to which he
replied get in their head (Castells 2010). This quote is very fitting in terms of the way that the Falls
Festival website designers have incorporated many themes that would be associated with the
festival goers. The random animations and graphics that appear throughout the website, from fried
eggs to bowling pins, are so arbitrary that it is infact this randomness which will appeal to the target
audience of the festival goers. The graphics try to emulate the craziness that is associated with such
festivals.

Being A Critical Thinker
Critical Thinking is becoming more understanding to me. I have always been an open minded
thinker, whenever it came to looking at different point of views on whatever is in front of me
.My mom always told me that I challenged everything she gave me to do, or told me to do. She
told me I was very stubborn. If I asked a question and she gave me a answer, I would always

Looking at Fair Minded Thinkers, I possess the quality of having courage. The Courage to question
what I was taught growing up, to seek truth and logicin beliefs and everything I knew at this point
in my life. I was always taught that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Not saying I don t believe

  • 2. SIDS Essay Educating Parents and Caregivers on the Prevention of SIDS Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the unexplained death of an infant less than one year of age after having done a complete postmortem examination and investigation of the scene of death. There are no causes that have been found that make it clear as to why SIDS is so common. The rate of SIDS decreased dramatically when the Back to Sleep campaign was started to encourage parents and caregivers that infants were placed on their back while sleeping (Hockenberry Wilson, 2015, p. 473). The most common ways that these deaths have occurred are the infant s sleeping environments and their positioning. Research shows that infants that sleep in the prone position are most at risk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 42). The cause of SIDS is still unknown but autopsies have been reliable in showing consistent findings pathologically that reveal whether a child has pulmonary edema or intrathoracic hemorrhages that could possibly confirm a diagnosis. Autopsies should be done in every infant and the results should be shared with the parents as soon as they are completed (Hockenberry Wilson, 2016, p. 476). Important critical assessments to make regarding SIDS is identifying risk factors that could potentially lead to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and ensuring to educate the caregivers on techniques to prevent these deaths. Some complications that may arise with SIDS could be a sense of hopelessness for the family of the infant. The parents may feel guilty and blame themselves for the death of their child. To appropriately care for this family, important NANDA nursing diagnoses for SIDS would be the Risk for Complicated Grieving related to Loss of Child secondary to SIDS and the Risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome related to Deficient Knowledge of Prevention Techniques secondary to Unsafe Sleeping Environment. Important teachings to assist the family in understanding SIDS is ensuring that they know what the risk factors are: maternal smoking, maternal alcohol use, co sleeping, prone sleeping, side lying positions, and soft bedding. Parents must be educated on some protective factors that could help in decreasing the risk of SIDS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. I Do Believe That If You Haven t Learnt About Sadness,... I do believe that if you haven t learnt about sadness, you cannot appreciate happiness. Nana Mouskouri. Nana Mouskouri came up with this quote during her singing career, when a fan asked her how she came to be such an amazing singer. Nana Mouskouri mentioned that she had a lot of rough patches along the way with managers dropping her, but in the end, she ended up on top. In other words, it will be easier to appreciate the good times if you ve already been through bad times. This quote is appealing because it applies to a variety of situations. Every person has hard times, and every person has happy times, but this quote could bring the two together. Therefore, many people would agree with this quote. Many different people lived by this quote, and they ended up appreciating the good times more after they went through the bad ones. One person that followed this quote is Nelson Mandela; He worked hard through legal troubles, relationship problems, and accusations for something he wanted for a long time. These long and tedious times, including the lengthy court trials, led to racial tension ease, which Mandela wanted for a long time (Academic American Encyclopedia). He went through the long trials until he got his wish of the racial tension ease. People should live by this quote because it demonstrates there are sad times in life, like Mandela s court trials, but once people get through them, they can be more appreciative of what makes them happy. • 6. Atomic Theory And The Study Of Matter Atomic Theory and the Study of Matter Matter is anything made up of atoms and molecules and the study of these things called atoms dates back to the time of Ancient Greece to the present. The information about atoms known today is certainly much greater than what was known centuries ago. First, there was only hypotheses on this idea that everything in the world is made up of tiny, unseeable particles. As technology advanced, these hypotheses were tested, critiqued, modified, and built upon. A mass of knowledge is known regarding atoms, thanks to the research of numerous chemists and physicists. The atomic theory is the building block to the study of matter just as the atomis the building block to all matter. Around 400 BCE was when the Greek philosopher Democritus, alone with his teacher Leucippus, the idea of the atom was born (the word atom comes from the Greek word atomos or atomon meaning that which cannot be split ). This was a completely new concept, and Democritus s theory stated that atoms were indestructible and homogenous, and different states of matter were made up of differently shaped atoms: solids had sharp and pointy atoms and liquids had large round atoms. Later these ideas would be proved inaccurate, however, this was the beginning of the discovery of the atom even though the people of this time had no instruments capable of testing the theory. It was not until centuries later that the atomic theory was truly looked at again. In 1803 an English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By incorporating a different culture, historical details, and a unique storyline Borges includes both realistic text and ficitional work. In John King`s essay, The Argentinean Context of Borges Fantastic Fiction, critical author Bioy concludes that Borges`s manipulates standard writing styles for the short story because in attacking the psychological novel, Borges reminded novelists that they had forgotten how to tell a story. (Kyle Hopkins 2) The family was at risk for turbulence. The man knew of the situation, but the rest of the family was oblivious of, to the reality from the outside. Distractions expose the benevolent and inadequate in all people. In addition to the topic, fear causes the loss of innocence leading towards corruption. My dignity was on the floor having to grab a piece of my dead friend and eat it in order to survive. ( I had to eat a piece of my friend to survive 1) The man bespeaks terror onto death, remarkably he did something inhuman in order for him to survive on the frontier. What s Eating Gilbert Grape Character Becky Analysis In the film What s eating Gilbert Grape by Lasse Hallstrom, Johnny Depp plays the main character Gilbert Grape who lives in a lifeless remote town called Endora, with his morbidly obese mother and mentally handicapped brother Arnie. As a result of his family issues, Gilbert is left to take full responsibility of Arnie while working full time to support his family. One characterI admired in this film is the character Becky who is Gilbert s love interest. Becky s grandmother says I ve spent most of my whole life in the same spot; anyways she encouraged me to get out! Becky s positive attitude and passion towards life influenced her grandmother to do the same and to follow in her footsteps. I greatly admire Becky for encouraging her grandmother to get out more as it has made her grandmother happy with her life. This scene also foreshadows the fact that Becky will not only influence her grandmother, but eventually Gilbert as well. Becky is self determined and helps Gilbert to realise that in order for him to be happy with his life, he needs to act and stop being passive. In the scene with Gilbert and Becky by the lake at night, Becky talks to Gilbert about his father s suicide. She asks him if he thinks it was his father s fault he died. The following models utilize the Annual Local Church Reports to model churches progress or change over time. We believe that the use of metrics and the creation of a Vitality Indexis an important step forward in helping the denomination develop a shared understanding of vitality. Thus, we research, reflect, refine, and redefine. As we move through these steps we wish for input and guidance from all. Two models were proposed. First, the original 2010 model which has been continually edited, henceforth referred to as TowersWatson, breaks the vital measures into standardized quartiles. Due to the complexity of this model, an additional model was created. Bishop Schol s model, now referred to as Schol, simplifies the index into basic calculations. More details about these models will be explained and analyzed below. A comparison between the two models showcases the stark variation between high vitality. Within the Schol model over twenty thousand churches are considered highly vital; however, in the TowerWatson model less than nine thousand churches are considered highly vital. Moreover, there are variations among growth and expense factors. Schol model considers medium sized churches vital, while larger churches are typically medium vital. I will then present the key equation of the Solow model and discuss its results and implications. I will then address why it is desirable to use log linearization, and how it can be used to study the dynamics near the steady state. • 30. Sam Houston and the American Southwest Essay The first half of the nineteenth century was a time of emergence, change, and uncertainty in the American Southwest. Randolph B. Campbell celebrates this historical time period in his novel, Sam Houston and the American Southwest, as well as the life and times of the southwest s hero himself, Sam Houston. Sam Houston provided guidance to southwestern expansion in the United States, more than any other individual. Within his novel, Campbell describes Houston as a man who possessed courage, wisdom, and ambition that was practically unsurpassed amongst any other political or military leader in the south. He believed that independence from Mexico was necessary saying that war inevitable and urging volunteers to come to the aid of their Anglo brethren (p. 60). Also, Houston s role as commander in chief of the army was very important in winning the war for Texas Independence. After the capture of Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto, many of the soldiers in the Texas Army wanted to execute him on the spot. But because of Sam Houston s level head, he knew that his prisoner was the key to removing all Mexicans soldiers from Texas without further bloodshed , and Jacinto became his password to Texas heroism forever (p. 85 87). Furthermore, Houston s leadership as the president of the Republic of Texas kept the republic alive until it became a part of his mother country (p. 198). Sam Houston was a man of many faces. Whether it was a friend to the Indians, governor of two States, or president of the Republic of Texas, he always stayed true to his practicality and fought for what was right. Because of this Sam Houston s name will synonymously remain with Texas Independence, and forever be immortalized in textbooks and novels alike. In conclusion, Randolph ... Public Sector in India Overview of Central Public Sector Enterprises The government owned corporations play a pivotal role in the economic development of emerging economies because their participation is higher in the industrial and commercial activities of these economies. Resource constraints and limited scope of the private sector in the early stages of development and planning have set the stage for predominance of the public enterprises in these economies. Thus, public sectors in the leading developing countries of the world (including the countries in the BRIC region) play a very important role. We already rely too heavily on fossil fuels. We need to find a new, sustainable path to the future we want. We need a clean industrial revolution ( Ban Ki moon ). Collectively, we burn fossil fuels without recognition of the repercussions it has on the environment and our well being. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Keeling s research was conducted on carbon dioxide levels, other greenhouse gases have seen a large increase since the industrial revolution. Water vapor is the most copious greenhouse gas . Water vapor is only termed as a greenhouse gas for its strong correlation with the average worldwide temperature. Similar to Earth s temperature, water vapor levels have gradually been increasing, leading to an increase in precipitation. Another greenhouse gas is methane, a hydrocarbon gas. Methane levels are heavily influenced by human activities, such as rice cultivation and manure management. Methane is a deadlier gas to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide is, but carbon dioxide is more abundant in the atmosphere ( Global Climate Change ). As these greenhouse gases continue to permeate the atmosphere, they absorb heat normally radiated back toward space and release this heat to the surface of the Earth. Air pollution creates a variety of different effects on the environment. Many of air pollution s effects are visible: the loss of ice on ice caps and the premature flowering of plants and trees. Air pollution has a great effect on the weather forecast. As stated earlier, the warmer the Earth s surface becomes the more water vapor is released into the atmosphere, this causes a variation of extreme weather changes. • 33. Hagar Leaves The House Of Abraham And Hagar Honors Humanities Essay #1 How does it feel like if two people you love ask you to choose between them? Well this is actually from the Story of Abraham and Hagar. Abraham had a wife named Sarah. Sarah could not give him a child, so she told him to sleep with her maid servant so that she can give Abraham a child for their family. Hagar became pregnant and had Ishmel. A few years later, Sarah became pregnant and had Isaac. Sarah was not happy about Hagar living with Abraham so she chases Hagar and Ishmael out. Abraham prays to god to not let Hagar and Ishmael die, and Hagar and Ishmael get water. The Abraham Casting Out Hagar and Ishmael by Johann Friedrich Overbeck and The Hagar Leaves the House of Abraham by Peter Paul Rubens both exhibit the Biblical story of Hagar leaving Sarah and Abraham. As displayed by the expression of Abraham and the women in both paintings, Overbeck s painting suggests that Abraham is trying to compromise and comfort both women because of his two kids, whereas Rubens painting suggests that Abraham is a little afraid and devastated of his wife Sarah so he steps back. Rubens painting displays Abraham as a man who scared of his wife because Hagar does not have her child yet, while in Overbeck s painting, Abraham is displayed as a guy who loves his children. First, Judging by the hand gestures of Abraham exhibited by Overbeck s painting, suggests the viewers that Abraham is trying to persuade both women to a compromise, while Ruben s painting ... Twenty years ago if you had told somebody that driverless vehicles would be driving us around our cities and on our highways, they would have smiled and said only in the movies. Now it is not so farfetched. Driverless cars are fast becoming reality. Just as computers did, driverless cars will change the way we live. And like any other innovation, it would free up time for more creative thinking. In recent years, we have seen small improvements to our cars, making them more automated. There is a long list of positive things about driverless cars, but there is another side to that coin. What happens when there is a failure from the computer or other components of the car? Would this cause serious accidents and injuries or even the worst case scenario death? According to the article Are We Ready for Driverless Cars, Currently, the car s sensors are unable to cope with poor weather conditions like heavy rain and snow covered streets . From a practical point of view, anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) has been commonly used as a soil conditioner to reduce erosion by clay flocculation and binding particles and stabilizing the outer aggregate surfaces. Moreover, PAM is highly resistant to microbial degradation, with a decomposition rate of в€ ј10% yr 1, which has led to its efficient use as a soilconditioner for long periods. Wu et al. (2012) revealed that PAM showed a minor effect on 14C allocation in plant parts and soil in a short term 14C labeling study. Except the observations of PAM biotransformation, little information is available on the PAM efficiency on the microbial activity in soils. In contrast, the agronomic benefits of biochar (BC) application to improve soil quality and increase SOM is growing. Applying BC improves the physicochemical properties of soil and maintains C and N sources, owing to a pronounced increase in plant growth and yield. Moreover, wood biochar decreased the soil bulk density and enlarged diameter of aggregates, thereby reducing soil loss. However, little is known about the effect of BC on soil microbial populations and activities. BC or PAM showed minor effect on the decomposition of SOM based on CO2 evolution because of the stability of these conditioners. A high portion of 14C maize residues were stabilized in the soil after adding BC and PAM as the binders by the occlusion of labile residue C into aggregates. • 36. Daaethon And Daedalus And Icarus The two myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus, use literary elements to show how Phaethon and Icarus s prideful disregard of the advice of their elders lead to their deaths. Both authors use conflict, characterization, and imagery to portray the main theme of prideful disregard of the crucial knowledge and advice given to us by those who are older and wiser. The main characters, Icarus and Phaethon, and their story of how they put their pride before their logic and guidance teach us about the consequences of arrogance and ignorance. Conflict is used as a literary element by both authors as an implement to portray the characters disregard of advice given to them from their elders. To illustrate, in the story Phaethon, Phaethon gets into an argument with Epaphus. He states, He taught me how to handle the reins (of the sun chariot, page . this is a lie he tells to impress his friend who is talking about his moments about his own father, Zeus. Despite this, many media companies refused to comply and were temporarily forced off the air. They were then allowed to continue broadcasting as long as they agreed to remove such commentaries. Not only has the NCPO tried to silence large media companies, they have also been silencing civilians. There is currently a law in Thailand that bans public assemblies with more than five people. This is to deter protests against the junta. They also continue to stifle free speech with the Computer Related Crime Act (CCA). The CCA allows the junta to arrest people for sharing their dissent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Freud on Happiness Essay Varea Romanenco FLAN 257 November 24, 2007 Sr. Elena Arminio Freud on Happiness The everlasting question of What is Happiness? has been inquired since the creation of men. Unfortunately, the only agreed answer that humanity came up with is that all the creatures seek happiness, but no one has the concrete directions for achieving it. Our libraries are overwhelmed with books about happiness, but no dictionary definition explains which path men must take to be happy. No mathematician gave us the axiom which we could use to solve the problem of living in bliss. No scientist brought up the formula of fusing certain ingredients to produce the drink of happiness . Still almost all the people consider that their ultimate purport in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To say it better would be to cite the words of Freud, himself: What we call happiness, in the strictest sense, comes from the (preferably sudden) satisfaction of needs which have been dammed up to a high degree (Freud 254). Freud proposes the Principle of Satisfaction when aiming to be happy, in other words a problem of satisfying a person s instinctual wishes (Freud 263). Consequently, he concludes that because our appetite can never be fulfilled, the attainment of happiness will be nothing else than pessimistic. Also, he notes, that not all pleasures or wishes can be satisfied as soon as they are conceived. Freud presents the example of a baby, who, initially, believes that all his/her wishes should be gratified, and only later learns, form the Reality Principle, the harsh truth, that the wishes can not be satisfied instantaneously. More than that, life teaches men that in order to experience happiness one must sacrifice the instant gratification of his/her desires in order to achieve happiness in future. A simple example would be when a businessman decides to work overtime in order to receive more money and, thus, receive more pleasure, of course temporary and in future. So, Freud speculates on the conjecture that our universe or our world was created in such a way, that we are not be able to live happily for a prolonged time (Farrell 11). He introduces the Principle of Reality, the negative way of achieving happiness, when man strives to avoid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Information About The Festival Website Website Review www.fallsfestival.com Fallsfestival.com is a website designed to supply their target audience with information about the annual festival held over New Year, as a means of digitally marketing and providing the links to purchase tickets. Falls Music and Arts Festival is an annual, end of year, over 18s event, held in 4 separate locations, that appeals to a range of people through the diverse lineup that hosts many genres of music. The majority of attendees fall in the millennial category of 18 34 both male and female (Rana 2014, Leeannji 2015). Although this target audience is not majorly specific, it does give the designers of the Falls Festival website more of a direct idea of who they are aiming to make the website appeal to. Castells asked Kaestle what the secret was to appealing so specifically to a target audience to which he replied get in their head (Castells 2010). This quote is very fitting in terms of the way that the Falls Festival website designers have incorporated many themes that would be associated with the festival goers. The random animations and graphics that appear throughout the website, from fried eggs to bowling pins, are so arbitrary that it is infact this randomness which will appeal to the target audience of the festival goers. The graphics try to emulate the craziness that is associated with such festivals. Colour scheme needs to be considered very carefully when designing a website in order to meet the criteria of the target ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Being A Critical Thinker Critical Thinking is becoming more understanding to me. I have always been an open minded thinker, whenever it came to looking at different point of views on whatever is in front of me .My mom always told me that I challenged everything she gave me to do, or told me to do. She told me I was very stubborn. If I asked a question and she gave me a answer, I would always question her why! I never knew it was a trait of, what I know now as being a Critical Thinker. Looking at Fair Minded Thinkers, I possess the quality of having courage. The Courage to question what I was taught growing up, to seek truth and logicin beliefs and everything I knew at this point in my life. I was always taught that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Not saying I don t believe in god, but I questioned that after reading about Egyptian history. After about 6 months of reading and research I found some very uneasy things that needed some attention.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I choose Confidence in reason because, while trying to explain my view point on what I had found about Jesus dying on the cross. Instead of trying to get people to see my point on the subject. I was forcing what I had found, which made my mom and dad and whom over I approached with it, shutdown instantly to what I was trying to explain to them. The best approach would have been is to present what I had found. Stayed opened minded to their beliefs, and encouraged them to be open minded to what I was presenting to them. They would have accepted what I was trying to show ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
