Leadership Styles Paper
Introduction This paper will talk about two world class leaders, their countries, and their particular
leadership settings. It will also compare and contrast the leadership styles of each leader. Specifically
discussed will be the following: Sergey Brin, Howard Schultz, comparison of leadership style and
contrast in leadership style. This paper will conclude with a summary of this discussion.
Sergey Brin (President of Google) Serge Brin was born in Russia, and migrated with his family to the
United States when he was 6 years old in the wake of anti Semitist against his family. Today Sergey

Comparison of Leadership style Both leaders are participatory because they allow employees to
participate by giving input into the decision making process. Participative leadership management
values the input of the team members and employees, but also the responsibility of making the final
decisions with participative leader. Both leaders had the inherent traits to be great leaders. The trait

them excel in leadership roles. That is, certain qualities such as intelligence, sense of responsibility,

Essay about Comparing Oceania in 1984 and the USA
Comparing Oceania in 1984 and the USA
This paper will discuss the similarities and differences between the Oceanic society of Orwell s
Nineteen Eighty Four and the society of the United States. First I will talk about the similarities and
then I will finish off with the differences, all of which will be based on factual information that I have
gathered both, from the book and the mainstream media. Then I will finish by coming to a conclusion
to an opinion I have and whether the government systems are more similar or different.
In order to do so, I had to ask myself some important questions like: Is the telescreen in the book the
same as the cameras at work watching us or the satellites the government has in space that can see you
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These people, for whom the government really does not care, are seen as a burden.
The overall conclusion to this statement is that the classes are divided with different opportunities and
even though not as much as the government officials in the book, the upper classes still have more
freedom to excel and do as they please.
The second similarity is that both governments believe that ?War is Peace.? We saw in the book that
the government of Oceania believed that the only way to have peace was through war and strength.
They would at one time be peaceful with one of the two other two countries in the world, Eurasia or
Eastasia, while waging war against the other. The government would also use excuses on why they
were waging war. The same is here in The United States. We went to Iraq for reasons that some feel
were not justified while others feel differently. The main argument of the opposition was that we went
to war with Iraq on the basis that they had weapons of mass destruction and so forth but non were
found. The question that I want to ask is: Were we lied to as the people in Oceania were?
The third similarity is that both governments have their hands and control in every aspect of society?s
life. Also the government spies on their citizens. In the book we saw Oceania had absolute control
over people?s life. Even though the control that the United State government has over people?s lives
these days is not as great as the one in the book, they still interfere

Growing Threat of Computer Crimes
Running head: THE GROWING THREAT OF COMPUTER CRIME The Growing Threat of
Computer Crime Diana Ritter Baker College of Cadillac May 9, 2001 Abstract Computers have been
used for most kinds of crime, including fraud, theft, larceny, embezzlement, burglary, sabotage,
espionage, murder, and forgery, since the first cases were reported in 1958. One study of 1,500
computer crimes established that most of them were committed by trusted computer users within
businesses; persons with the requisite skills, knowledge, access, and resources. With the arrival of

must note, however, no matter how clever the hacker, the most serious security threat in most
enterprises is password theft. Password stealing is the holy grail of hacking. Once a
username/password combination has been found, the hacker has free rein to exploit that user account.

Essay On The Prelude By William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth conveys an unique joy through verse. It is a delight which includes information
and good truths, which would illuminate and lift up the peruser s sentiments. Verse ought to try to

the message of co relationship and affection. Wordsworth is exceptionally viewed as a writer of
Nature. Nature is a wellspring of knowledge and he is an extraordinary supporter of this hypothesis.

Because the service area is limited to the Mojave Desert region of California and due to the amount of
time since the organization s inception, few additional opportunities exist for further expansion and
increased success, however opportunity exists in building additional partnerships on the local and

acting as a branch.
Another opportunity that exists involves winning increased support from the local High Desert

How Is Holden Caulfield Crazy
Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye only likes the innocent parts of people. Throughout the
book we are given examples of how Holden has different feelings based on who he is talking to. Three
important characters in the book give three different personalities that add up to the overall conclusion
that Holden is crazy.
Stradlater is one of the most non innocent characters in the story, and we see throughout the book
Holden picking fights with him. He is known to take girls on dates and rape them in the back of his
coaches car. After he takes Holden s childhood friend, Jane, on a date, he refuses to tell Holden what
they did. Holden assumes he tried to rape her and take away her innocence, and immediately he grows
in hatred toward Stradlater. The text says, I told him he didn t care because he was a goddam stupid
moron. He hated it when you called him a moron. All morons hate when you call them a moron. (50)
Holden then gets into a big fight with Stradlater. In the story he calls him, A dirty stupid sonuvabitch
moron. (50) And says, That s just the trouble with all you morons. You never want to discuss anything.
That s the way you can always tell a moron. They never want to discuss anything. (50) He yells at
Stradlater, tries to anger him, and ends up losing in a fight to him. This is the first time Holden shows
hatred toward someone in the story. Someone that has taken away someone else s innocence. Overall,
these pieces from the text give us evidence of Holden

The Second Impression Is The Last Impression
Everyone know very well about this statement, First Impression is the Last Impression but the
meaning is that, When one Person takes maximum 3 5 seconds research to form judgement or visual
perception about other person. Everyone forms judgement in a flash, from the person sitting next to us
at Functions, in a park, at dinners or parties anywhere. It is a Human nature and no one cannot refuse
it.
So it is very important to present our best because first Impression is no doubt the Last and you never
have a second Chance to make a second Impression but remember the first Impression is not the Last
chance to make a good Impression.
This however, should not be as everyone, I believe should be given a second chance but we generally
go by the first Impression. Much care is given to what is worn on the first visit. Suppose if girls start
wearing neck ties and boys show up with their eyebrows or eyelashes and ears pierced. Would it give
a good Impression? The answer is No as they are expected to be dressed modestly as dress is primarily
the first indication of what a person really us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The answer is very easy; as you know that on your First day of a university, what you are going to
wear as it will dictate what type of friends you are going to make. Your First Impression may attracts
some persons towards you and make many stay away from you.
Another example is once the foundation has been made, it becomes very difficult to change it. Thus,
the first impression is extremely important because it creates the granite foundation for the way in

Free Verse Techniques Conveying Structure An Analysis of Spring By Edna St. Vincent Millay
Composed in free verse, the poem Spring by Edna St. Vincent Millay contains many poetic elements
that create a feeling of structure throughout. As free verse challenges the conventions of writing, so
too, does St. Vincent Millay s interpretation of Spring challenge societies conventional beliefs
associated with the season. Millay uses various different poetic elements of writing as effective
alternatives to conventional methods of prose such as use of quatrain, and an adherence to metric and
rhyme schemes. Elevating itself from such conventions, Millay s poem incorporates the use of
personification, thought provoking questions, repetition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This assumption is reinforced in the latter part of the poem, when Millay personifies April once more
unsatisfied with the seasons return, stating April Comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers.
(17 18) By again referring to the season of Spring as April, (1,17) as well as associating the month
with human characteristics and activities such as being an idiot, babbling, and strewing flowers, (18)
the personification of Spring becomes even more clear. From this perspective, just as Spring cannot
appease Millay with beauty or prospect of flowers, one cannot truly mend a broken relationship with
words and gifts alone. The actions of babbling and strewing (18) are associated with ignorance, thus
one can assume Millay is annoyed with the month of Spring, as people who receive flowers are most
likely doing so because they have been annoyed or hurt by their significant other. Just as Spring
continually returns, creating life ignorant of death, an annoying lover returns to a damaged heart,
ignorant to the absence of love. Millay uses free verse elements, more specifically thought provoking
questions, to enhance the overall poetic feeling of Spring . Beginning with the proposal of a question,
To what purpose, April, do you return again? (1) Millay blatantly challenges the reason behind natural
order. Millay again does this when stating, It is

Safety Standards in the Meat Packing Industry Essay
Due to health reasons, the meat packing industry has aroused the attention of many. This has been
caused by the safety standards in the meat packing industry. The attention has also been caused by the
use of machines in the packing process. The industry uses fast running machines hence the employees
are exposed to more injury risk. The industry is majorly comprised of immigrants and undocumented
employees. This has greatly attracted attention due to the care for the employees who are mainly non
citizens (United States Department of Labor, 2010). The situation has led to several labor
organizations teaching the employees on safety and health administration. For instance the Nebraska

the organization had no regulation specifically for the minors in the industry (OSHA Quick take,
2010). Due to the high rate of illnesses, accidents and injuries in the industry, the organization further
developed a hazard recognition program. This was greatly supported by the directives and the
standards the organization drafted. The organization also set a safety and health program. This mainly
depended on the credibility of management s involvement in the program. This program provided for
the inclusion of the employees in the program. The program also provided for the inclusion of the
employees in the different decision making processes such as the safety and health decisions. The
employees were also to be included in the decisions that involved change in the work site practices

it (Brain Mass, 2010). Due to the drastic expansion in the animal production industry, this has led to
the expansion of the meat packing industry too. This has greatly attracted more investors in the
industry as it poses as a good investment. The corporations producing meat have also

Global Automotive Industry- Porter s 5 Forces
Porter s Five Forces Analysis
Michael Porter identified five forces that influence an industry. These forces are: (1) degree of rivalry;
(2) threat of substitutes; (3) barriers to entry; (4) buyer power; and (5) supplier power. For more on
this framework proposed by Porter, please see Appendix C. Like other industries operating under free
market, capitalistic systems, viewing the automotive industry through the lens of Porter s Five Forces
can be helpful in understanding the forces at play.
Degree of Rivalry

The switching costs associated with using a different mode of transportation, such as train, may be
high in terms of personal time (i.e., independence), convenience, and utility (e.g., luggage capacity),
but not necessarily monetarily (e.g., round trip train fare on MARTA would most likely be less
expensive than the cost of fuel consumed on a similar round trip, daily parking, car insurance, and
maintenance).
The exception to this statement occurs in the global urban areas with high population densities. In
these areas, the substitutes available (e.g., walking, mass transit, bicycles, etc.) can be less costly than
automobiles and thus alternative modes of transportation are often preferred.
Also, there are inherent underlying social and cultural attitudes that keep people from owning
automobiles in some parts of the world. Many nations are not as spread out or as mobile as the U.S.;
they are constrained either by geography, race, class, or religion and the need for personal
transportation is not as great, yet. The American dream of a car [or two] in every garage is not what
the rest of the world currently wants or needs. However, the marketing arms of the global automotive
manufacturers are certainly working very hard to change this paradigm, and with unprecedented
production volumes world wide, all signs indicate that they are succeeding. Most with the ability and

English Language And Informal Language Essay
In the English language formal language has always been more commonly used when writing. The
internet and social media have led to an increase in the ways we utilize the English language daily.
Informal language was previously used round those people knew well. But on social media, informal
language in written work can reach a much larger audience. English language pundits believe that the
use of informal language will be integrated into formal styles of writing over the next 50 years.
Informal language will be introduced into formal writing due to younger generations being
increasingly exposed to informal language when reading, and formal writing adapting to reflect our
society which communicates informally. Children are now growing up in a society where informal
language is becoming more commonplace. Classrooms around the world have adopted technology to
enhance student s learning, especially in primary level schools. In Dwyer, Ringstaff and Sandholtz s
1991 article, researchers discussed how:
It appeared chat children interacted with each other more frequently while working at computers. And
the interactions were different the students spontaneously helped each other. They were curious about
what others were doing. They were excited about their own activities, and they were intently engaged.

This surge in technology has resulted in children communicating online with multiple forms of media

Effects of Coloniztionon First Nations
1. Discuss your understanding of historic and contemporary colonization, how it continues to affect
First Nations, Metis, and or Inuit peoples today and how it may be reflected in your proposed specific
area of social work practice.
To begin with, colonization began when first contact was made between Indigenous peoples of
Canada and Europeans. At first the settlers were humble to Indigenous peoples and learnt how to
survive the diverse land of what is known as Canada. As settlers began getting established in Canada,
the land began getting taken over by Europeans. The signing of treaties was a mechanism used to
divide and conquer the lands from Indigenous peoples. Indian reserves were created to separate
different tribes and land was claimed for natives to live on. According to ..... the land given was not
very healthy and did not accommodate the way first nation peoples lived. Next, the Indian Act was
established in hopes to absorb indianess and in hopes would expire therefore eliminating the existence
of indianess .
In addition to the Indian Act came another mechanism called residential schools. According to
Frideres (2011) residential schools were an educational institution established by the Canadian
government and the Roman Catholic missionaries for the purpose of forcing native people to abandon
their culture and adopt a more superior way of living. The first residential school was established in
1874, after which the number of these schools rapidly spread all

Large Urban Cities In America
Problem Statement
Global Warming is quickly becoming a growing issue for large urban cities in America. As we expand
our urban areas with the growing population, cities use more energy for air conditioning, water, and
lighting (). Although air conditioning is powered by electricity, many urban cities rely on the
combustion of coal for energy (). Combustion of coal emits CO2 and deadly gases into the atmosphere
which leads to Global Warming (). Buildings in urban areas use conventional roofs as their main
aesthetics. Conventional roofs are generally comprised of tar and gravel. On hot summer days,
conventional rooftops can be 27 50°C hotter than the surrounding air temperature. This happens
because the albedo of tar and gravel is extremely low which allows for the sun s energy to be absorbed
instead of reflected (). The increased temperature leads to urban heat islands (). Increasing higher
albedo surfaces on roofs will result in more reflection of solar energy away from the urban areas ().
Rooftops covered in plants, also known as Green Roofs have grown popular tremendously in the last
decade. These rooftops are covered in natural greenery like small trees, bushes, flowers, grass, etc.
Green roofs are cost effective way to solve many problems with global warming in urban areas ().

trying to let every reader have a deep understanding of life and death. Going back to the quote, I
mentioned how it can relate to drunk driving, because drunk driving causes death to another innocent
individual without giving them a chance of deciding when their life should end. Their life was ended

Animal Cloning Debate
Given the recent advancements scientists have made, often debated topics in the field of science have
become a mine of questions for those of the Christian faith. One such field is biotechnology, which is
the use of organisms or biological processes to further improve human life. More specifically, the
topic of cloning animals and humans. Cloning has often been fervently debated throughout the years
succeeding Dolly the sheep. The image that usually surfaces in the minds of the public, when
discussing cloning, is often horrific, due to the misconstrued imagery that the visual and print media
have filled the public s imaginations with. Over the years, there have been numerous scholars on both
sides of the debate who bring up noteworthy questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be argued that this debate stems from one of the most controversial, yet successful, experiments
to be created: Dolly the sheep. In Gregory Pence s chapter, From Dolly to Humans? from his novel,
Who s Afraid of Human Cloning?, Dolly is heavily discussed. Pence details that in Edinburgh,
Scotland, on February 24, 1997, Ian Wilmut s successful attempt to clone a lamb took the world by
storm (1). Almost immediately after the experiment was publicized, everyone from commoners,
scientists, and even lawmakers joined in unison to rebuke the idea of the future cloning of humans.
Only days after the announcement of Dolly s existence, according to Pence, human cloning was
entirely banned and thus one of the biggest philosophical questions to emerge from biology was
swiftly dismissed. Why did this experimental delve into the biological cause such an uproar? In the
words of Gregory Pence, emotions can be justified, but they can also stem from our most primitive,
prejudiced reactions (6). The majority of the individuals who objected cloning experimentation,
during the period of Dolly the sheep, barely knew what cloning was or how it affected the world
around them. Today, numerous of those who are against cloning are typically victims of the
fearmongering of visual and print media, which thrive on the imagined

ABSTRACT:
This experiment introduces us the pH measurement and application of macroscale titration of aqueous
solutions of acids and bases. The first part of the experiment was applying macroscale titration to
calculate the mass of an HCl solution consumed that was initially done by pounding the tablets and
getting a weight of 0.15 grams. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard solution is added to a solution of unknown concentration until all of the unknown
solution has reacted. From the known quantity and molarity (or normality) of the standard solution
and the measured volume of unknown solution used, the unknown concentration can be calculated.
Most acid base solutions are colorless and determining when one reactant has been totally consumed
is difficult by simple observations. To allow us to visually determine this point, we use compounds
called acid base indicators to tell us when a reaction is complete. Dyes (usually weak organic acids)
whose colors depend upon pH are often used to signal the completion of acid base reactions.
The objectives of this experiment are to:
Measure the PH of aqueous solutions of acids and bases.
Compare the PH values obtained by using PH meter and PH paper.
Calculate the percent acetic acid of a commercial sample of vinegar.

The Real Slumdogs
The video The Real Slumdogs show us many different aspects of the culture residing in Dharavi.
There are several different types of statuses that people can achieve from a sociological stand point,
but the one I am referring to in the video is achieved statuses. An achieved status is a position that is
earned, accomplished, or involves at least some effort or activity on the individual s part. Take the
story of Babu, the hard working trash picker for instance. This trash picker has worked most of his life
as a trash picker, and through this dedication he has finally become his own boss. Although he is still
picking trash, he oversees other workers and helps them learn the trade. If he had not worked tirelessly
and put in this effort to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I find myself looking at this trying to, as the sociological term goes, take the role of the other . Taking
the role of the other is defined as putting yourself in someone elses shoes; understanding how
someone else feels and thinks, so you anticipate how that person will act. If I were to look at Lakshmi
for instance, I see that she works in terrible conditions with her family, and that she cares very much
for her daughter, Sheetal. I see that she doesn t like the conditions in which her family, or any family
in Dharavi for that matter, lives. This has made her provide an education for her daughter, even though
it is costly to her own salary. Since she knows how tough it can be to make a living in Dharavi, she
has helped with a program called Project Acorn. This helps provide services to other slum dwellers
and their children to get an education. She is a very caring person, and wants to see the people of
Dharavi get into better living conditions so they aren t suffering or not getting anywhere. Shailesh
cares for his family, and wants them to have the best life they can. While he wants this, he also wants
to pursue his own dreams as a Bollywood actor. He wants to become a star and this makes him use a
good bit of his monthly earnings to take acting classes. He is a very driven individual, and his efforts
have finally gotten him a foothold in the film industry, as a background dancer in a music

Questions On Financial Reporting Disclosures
1. Introduction
ICAEW made nine recommendations about financial reporting disclosures in 2013 to solve current
disclosure overload problem. This report will mainly argue against recommendation four. Choosing
this prospect because one of the objectives of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is to protect
consumers from being taken advantage of by other informed participants in the capital market. Among
all the suggestions, disclosing different reports for different users has the most significant influence on
investors and capital market.
Section 2 of this report will firstly discuss the probability of fraudulent financial reporting and the
fairness problem. Then the information asymmetry problem and the instability of the security market

Assuming public companies are allowed to distinguish classes of users, the decision relevant
information could be split on the basis of different interests and somebody may take advantage of this
loophole to provide fraudulent information for a favourable outcome in stock price.
2.2 Example of FFR
According to the most resent report from Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE, 2008),
from January 2006 to February 2008, among all types of frauds, FFR associated with largest average
cost which was $258 million, while the second largest was $34 million. Furthermore, the study from
KPMG (2003) and ACFE (2008) all agreed FFR is the least common but most costly fraud (Carcello
and Hermanson, 2008). The estimated annual cost of FFR in USA is $1 trillion (ACFE, 2008), and this
is just under the relaxed disclosure regulation, which is the Securities Offering Reform, issued in 2005
in America (Clinton et al., 2014). And FFR is certainly not limited to the United States (Zack, 2009).
Hence, FCA considered FFR facts in US as a lesson and involved in a special project in 2010 in UK to
examine fraud in public companies (Fisher et al., 2010). To conclude, recommendation four could
increase the probability of FFR which could stimulate the stock price, and that will harm consumers
and encourage the unhealthy competition in security market.

The Myth Of Atalant The Hero s Journey By Joseph Campbell
When you want to understand ancient culture you don t only need to understand what they did, their
activities, or what they ate, you need to understand the myths and stories from those ancient cultures.
Joseph Campbell wrote that even if most myths are different and have different heroes, they all follow
the same path of The Hero s Journey. In the myth of Atalanta, the Heroine from the Myth of Atalanta,
Atalanta, does indeed follow all the three stages of The Hero s Journey by Joseph Campbell:
Departure, Decisive Victory, and The Return.
Atalanta begins the Hero s Journey with Departure. Departure means that a hero ventures forth to the
unknown, which is known as the supernatural wonder and leaves common day . (Doc A) When
Atalanta was born, her father was utterly disappointed and left her on a wild mountainside to die from
coldness and hunger... But then, a She Bear summoned by the goddess Artemis. (Doc B) When

Thus, the use and importance of mobile advertising is likely to grow in the future.
It is unlikely that mobile technology will be rich enough to support the amount of content or the
quality of visual we associate with print or electronic media advertising.
More likely, it will take the form of short text messages intended to inform, remind, or notify
consumers. Thus, it can best be used to support relationships with existing customers rather than to be
used to attempt to acquire new consumers (Perlado Barwise, in press). For example, mobile
advertising may help to remind consumers to make a purchase or to provide information for
immediate consumer decisions.
Perhaps the major advantage of mobile advertising is that it is able to reach people at exactly the
moment they are making purchase decisions. For example, it can be used to provide information about
sales promotions at the time of purchase to help sway consumer choices for parity products.
Short Messaging Advertising
In the United States, there is not yet sufficient text messaging ads or text messaging to cause service
disruptions. Only recently have the major wireless carriers agreed to let their customers send text
messages to one another (Shachtman, 2002).
Competing standards (global system for mobile communications versus code division multiple
access), fragmented systems, and lack of variety in calling plans are all cited as reasons for the lower

How Did Henry Contribute To 1776 Dbq
On July 4th, 1776 the thirteen colonies declared Independence from England. The Actions and Laws
that I will address in this DBQ led to the revolution of the the thirteen colonies. Two British laws that
caused this were the Intolerable Acts which punished the colonists for the outcome of Boston Tea
Party which was when the Sons of Liberty boarded British ships and dumped chests of tea into the
Boston Port, and the Stamp Act which was when the British placed a tax on all stamps. The action the
colonists took was that they stripped, tarred, and feathered British soldiers and they also started to
rebel against the taxes. In May of 1765, Patrick Henry addressed the issue of the Stamp Act to the

Every Time after your done cutting hay, you have a lot left to do. First of all, you have to pressure
wash it off. With going through all of those gopher mounds, the haybine gets really jammed packed
with hard dirt and clay and rocks. This by itself takes at least an hour to get done because there is hay
in all the nooks and crannies of the haybine also, so you have to find the hay and try to blow it out.
This is actually a lot harder than it sounds, just take my word for it. Once you are one step closer to
being done, you have to fold the haybine in and park it in the machinery lot. Now folding it in with
two people is quite simple. But when you only have yourself to try and fold it in, it becomes about
100% harder. There is a rop you have to pull and it is spring loaded, so you have to quickly pull the
rope, sprint onto the tractor, and back onto the block that you place benefit the tire of the haybine.
Like I said before, a lot harder than it may seem. After you try for the 5th time to run fast enough to
the tractor and back into the block, you finally get the haybine folded in. You can go park it in the
machinery lot, and go fuel up the tractor out of the 500 gallon diesel fuel tank that is on the farm.
Once you re all fueled up for the next time you need the tractor, you can finally go back the tractor in

Evil In The East And The West Essay
The Problem of evil in the East and the West
Although the problem of evil questions the existence of God in the West, it seems not to be a big
problem in the East for the different definitions of God and evil in the Western and the Eastern
religions. To know the different Eastern and Western attitudes towards the problem of evil, the
essences of the problem of evil as well as the corresponding consequences caused by the problem of
evil in the Western and the Eastern religions and the reasons behind consequences would be discussed.
In essence, the problem of evil is caused by the perfect antagonism relationship of the God and evil
once evil exists, the existence of a perfect God would be doubted. In Western religions like
Christianity and Judaism, God exists as a perfect one all loving, all powerful and all knowing. Just like
Charles Taliaferro mentioned, how can the omnipotent, omniscient and completely good God coexist
with the evil? (Taliaferro) If the truth is that God exist together with evil, then God is not all loving, all
powerful nor all knowing, otherwise God will save us from the evil.

Thomas More s, Utopia is one of the most politically and socially influential texts to date. His
audience, which ranges from academic and social scholars to college students, all can gain a different
understanding of the work and it s meaning. In order to fully comprehend More s message, one must
have an appreciation for the time and culture in which he lived. After grasping historical concepts, one
reads Utopia, not as just a volume recounting a fictitious island society, but rather as a critique on a
time of corruption and reformation. Throughout the entire text, More s personal views on the religion,
politics, and economy of this turbulent time seep through the carefully plotted thread of this critical

He goes one step further to make himself a character as the voice of reason. In the time that More
wrote the novel, these views were so radical that, had they not had some sort of a disclaimer provided,
he could have been punished. Raphael describes the Utopians in detail. More spends an exceptionally
large amount of time discussing the Utopians religious beliefs. He describes them as monotheists,
stating, they believe in a single power, unknown, eternal, infinite, inexplicable, far beyond the grasp of
the human mind (73). More stresses this notion of civility in a heathen culture where Christianity had
not touched until Hythloday s arrival. The only religious law that must be followed, which was created
by Utopia s founder, Utopus, claims that any religion is permissible if it includes the notion of an
afterlife. He writes this to an audience who he believes has lost all sense of what Christianity truly is.
R.W. Chamber states, The Four Cardinal Virtues Wisdom, Fortitude, Temperance and Justice...were
taken into the medieval system...and were sufficient to ensure that a man or a State might be a model
of conduct in secular matters (138). He says that heathen cultures, like Utopia, are based on these
Virtues that are subsidiary to, not a substitute for, the Christian virtues (138). Chamber s idea suggests
that More uses the concept of the Utopians, as heathens, working in a successful and yet Non
Christian society, as proof that just because one

a laboratory. Live animal experimentation, also known as vivisection, is not only unethical, but also
cruel and unnecessary. In the article Vivisection is Right, but it is Nasty and We must be Brave
Enough to Admit This , Michael Hanlon claims vivisection is a moral necessity that without the use of
animals in the laboratory, humans would not have modern medicine like antibiotics, analgesic, and
cancer drugs (1). For example, Hanlon believes by sewing kittens eyelids together can aid researchers
to study the effects of amblyopia in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Animal experiments are not a moral necessity to allow human to discover cures for disease, like
cancer or acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). In fact, the genetic composition of animals
is completely different from human, and there might be catastrophic results if a medication is given to
a human being, even if the medication is tested safe in animals. In other words, animals exhibit a
different genetic and physiology than human beings and when drugs, like HIV vaccines, are tested on
animals the effect of the medication may translate differently in the human body. For instance, Hanlon
gives an example of animal experimentation in which the Cardiff University done by sewing thirty
one kittens eyelids shut to study the effects of lazy eye in children (1). However, the British Union of
the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) argues against Hanlon s claim that cat brains and cat vision are
fundamentally different to human and it is hard to see how anything useful can be gained by the
research (Hanlon 1), and experiments like sewing kittens eyelids together to study amblyopia have
been done many years ago, and yet no cure has been found (Hanlon 1). Hanlon claim that many
surgical procedures would be impossible without operating on animals in the laboratory, and fears that
without animal experimentation, people would be used as guinea pigs instead (2). By focusing on
surgical procedures done on animals, Hanlon overlooks the deeper

buddhist temple reflection paper 2 1
My first experience in a Buddhist temple was quite different than anything I have experienced religion
wise. I visited the Quan Am Monastery (Vietnamese American Buddhist) at 3500 South Goodlet. I got
to experience first hand how meditation in a Buddhist temple actually works. I was very intrigued to
find out how someone outside of the Christian faith, worshipped. As one might expect, the atmosphere
was very tranquil. My group members and I called ahead a few days earlier and a man answered the
phone and it was very hard to understand what he saying but I know I heard him say come on Friday
so that s what we did. When we arrived we stepped outside the vehicle we took a look around and
there were two buildings outside. One that had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While we were meditating he told us to count every breath that we make and if we start to think of
anything start back over at 1. So we closed our eyes and began to meditate. While we were meditating
things kept irritating my face, for example a string of hair, but the thing is before we started meditating
wasn t anything bothering me. Isn t that ironic? After a while it went away when I stop thinking about
it; I truly think it was a figment of my imagination. We meditated for at least 30 to 45 minutes. He hit
the dung 3 times to let us know the meditation was ending. When I opened my eyes I felt so calm and
relaxed as if I had no worries in the world. It was so peaceful. The guy who led meditation opened up
the floor for questions, but I really didn t have any questions to ask because I was so calm and I had
already asked all the questions that I needed to know when were outside. So we ended the question
part and he let us take pictures. We went outside and put our shoes back on and walked around to the
back so he could explain the statues to us. He allowed us to go inside the Vietnamese temple and take
a look around and it was the biggest temple I have ever seen. He told us about what goes inside there.
The Buddhist people that speak English go inside the temple that looks like a house and the ones that
don t goes inside the big one. We took pictures of the building looked around. They welcomed us to
come back if we wanted but I really had enjoyed myself.

The Perkins Act
QUESTION #1: (2 points). The Perkins Act, now known as the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical
Education Act of 2006, is one of the most influential legislations in Career and Technical education to
date. Summarize the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, including a brief
introduction, benefits of the legislation, and the significance of the legislation.
Contrary to what people might think, our education deserved some major changes in the ways
technical education was being taught. By reading the historical and present legislation of technical
education prior 1960, we end up discovering the articulation and the learning about federal technical
legislation. Furthermore, it is essential to learn how this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A posteriori, the facilitator and the learner will be motivated and optimistically result in a constructive
experience for both. The economic needs of industry and social satisfaction of students in CTE
continues be predominant in our current and future classroom.
For the sake of a national technical education, the federal must develop the programs of study in
consultation with the states and local programs, and each local receiving funding under the Act will be
required to offer the relevant course of at least one program of study. To our belief, such a move will
maximize the profitability of the labor workforce industry throughout the country.
QUESTION #3: (2 points). Summarize one educational philosophy that you learned about from a
group member s posting. How do you relate to this philosophy? Would you use it as your instructional
philosophy? Why or why not?
CTE Pragmatism from Samantha McElhaney is an important philosophical viewpoint that will play a
major role in making decision on curriculum structure, instructional strategies, and program delivery
related to career technical education. Accordingly, the philosophy of education should be pragmatic
and meaningful to learning new skills and obtaining jobs.

Chopin Prelude No 15 Essay
Chopin s Prelude No. 15 for Solo Piano Hey guys, welcome to my blog! Today, I ll be sharing with
you guys one of my favourite pieces by romantic composer, Chopin, Prelude No 15, or more
commonly known as Raindrop. Frederic Chopin s Prelude No 15, also known as Raindrop, is one of
Chopin s 24 preludes. His preludes were written between 1835 and 1839 and were published in 1839.
Chopin s preludes were arranged in a circle of fifths, with each major key being followed by its
relative minor. In comparison, Bach s collection of fugues and preludes, known as The Well Tempered
Clavier was arranged according to keys, each one a semitone higher. This is why some believe Chopin
intended the preludes to be played in a single performance as a continuous ... Show more content on

Proposal for a Animation Dissertation
Three initial ideas for dissertation.
1. Analogue film and its imprint on the digital era.
This thesis for a dissertation would have set about to analyse the relationship between analogue and
digital filmmaking and the differences in these practices since the rise of the latter s popularity and
usability. The paper would have evaluated digital filmmaking practices and the new range of
techniques that modern technology has brought about, giving reference to the rise of importance in
editing since the development of red one and the response to this of various filmmakers, Lars Von
Trier etc. New aesthetics would have also been explored, looking at films such as Inland Empire

Abstract
This study addresses the viability of auteurism in the contemporary moving image industries and the
significance of this in relation to whether or not an animator can be considered a genuine auteur within
the wider context of general artistic practice.
The purpose is to provide an up to date and comprehensive, analytical framing of auteur theory and
enhance the arguments laid down by critics, thinkers and theorists on both the psychoanalysis
concerned with the consideration of the original self in a postmodern society and whether the
collaborative, creative nature of the animation industry lends itself to the term auteur. The dissertation
will provide a social, historical and theoretical study of a number of discourses concerned with the
animation industry, examining distinguishable personalities within the medium and formulating a
thesis on arguments limiting auteur theory to the status of high art whilst questioning the genealogical
construction of understanding surrounding the bourgeois construct of authorship.
The paper sets about to provide an unbiased argument on the authentic nature of auteurism within
contemporary perceptions of animated cinema,

The Bataan Death March By Glenn Frazier
Glenn Frazier, a survivor of the Bataan Death March states, If we had known what was ahead of us at
the beginning of the Bataan Death March, I would ve taken death. The Bataan Death March was
extremely brutal, which left many survivors thinking if they should have died at the beginning of the
march. During the Bataan Death March, the Americans and Filipinos were forced to walk 65 miles in
five to twelve days without food or water while enduring regular beatings ( Bataan Death March, 1942
) . During the march, the Japanese would treat the prisoners of war (POWs) in a brutal manner leaving
only 987 survivors out of 76,000 prisoners ( New Mexico National Guard s involvement in the Bataan
Death March ). The Americans were horrified by the Japanese ... Show more content on

Bushido means way of the warrior . The Code of Bushido was followed by the ancient Japanese,
which respected the ways of warrior. It was a code that taught the Japanese dedication and respect for
their Emperor and their family. The code had required warriors to exhibit a strict sense of honor and
self control, maintain a benevolent yet detached attitude towards life, care for the Earth and other
people, and be loyal to one s country and family. However, the Emperor had used the Code of Bushido
to brainwash and control soldiers. The Emperor used it as a tool to motivate the people to murder and
die for the code. According to the Japanese, if you surrendered, you would disappoint your family and
country. In World War II when the Japanese were held prisoner in Cowra prison in Australia, many of
them changed their names so that their parents assumed they were dead rather than disappointing
them. The Code of Bushido made the Japanese treat the Americans and Filipinos in a savage and
brutal manner. Moreover, the Japanese s treatment of prisoners affected how Americans saw them.
The Americans believed the Japanese were brutal human beings. The Americans saw them as that
because during the Bataan Death March, if you stopped marching, the Japanese would kill you with a
bayonet or rifle. Then, if you tried to help someone who fell, you would get beaten or stabbed. Also
for a sport, Japanese soldiers would fracture sculls with rifle butts. Mostly, the prisoners would receive
almost to no food or water and they were forced to walk 65

Describe The Differences Between The Axis And The Allies
The axis and the allies were two alliances or sides from the WW1. They both had different points of
view of what was right, that s why the war started in first place. The axis were also called the central
powers or the triple alliance, it was composed of Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy at first. The
allies were also called the triple entente it was composed of France, UK, and Russia.
Axis was a military alliance, and it lasted from 20th may 1882 until WW1 1914. Some of the leaders
of Axis were from Austria Hungary Franz Joseph I, he was the emperor of Austria Hungary at the
time. From Germany Wilhelm II, he was the German Emperor at the time, and from the Ottoman
Empire was Mehmed V, he was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire. The Allies alliance started in 1914
at the beginning of WW1 and ended in 1918. Some of the leaders in the Triple Entente or Allies were:
from the Russian Empire Nicolas II, he was the last tsar of Russia; he died in war in July 17 1918.

started Italy backed down from that Alliance, and joined the Allies. When the war began, it was only

countries that joined as well, but they did not contribute as much as The Ottoman Empire and
Bulgaria. The alliance also had the name Central Powers because of where they were located. They
were all located between the Russian Empire in the east and France and the UK in the west. The triple
Entente started with France, Great Britain, and Russia. When Italy started having trouble with the
Axis, Italy started to plan joining the allies. Eventually Italy separated from the Axis, and joined the
Allies. After the war started, Japan joined the

The Unification Of Religion In America
We live in a world of religious pluralism and human experience has taught us to respect others
religion(s). Whether religion is unifying or dividing depends on how it is used. Religion can be
unifying mainly because, no matter what religion you believe in, religion helps people cope with the
problems and difficulties within their life and millions of people believe in it. Religion has been
known to unify groups, tribes, peoples, and whole countries. Americans have been able to combine
deep religious devotion with wide ranging religious diversity, while continuing to be tolerant of one
another. By making friends with someone with a religious faith other than your own can lead to
warmer feelings for others of that same faith. With Americans religion

Human Spirit In Flowers For Algernon
Journey is an expedition, as much as it is physical, it is also emotional and imaginative. In the process
of embarking on a journey an individual must discover something about themselves or the society
which is found through obstacles. As such, the radio drama Flowers for Algernon adapted by Bert
coules and written by Daniel Keyes, displays that the strength of the human spirit is essential for the
journey if an individual is to overcome the obstacles and gain new perspectives and understanding of
themselves and the world. Contrastingly, in Flowers for Algernon directed by Jonathan Dayton and
Valerie Faris , the strength of the human spirit is essential for the journey, if individuals embark on a
physical journey to guide themselves to reflect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paradoxically, his journey begins from his attempt to suicide and this is revealed in the scene where
the title of the film Little Miss Sunshine is superimposed on the image of Frank at the hospital, which
shows irony. The use of juxtaposition has a meaning of being happy and joyful, however it is
contrasted across a scene where the camera is zoomed into Frank with an expressionless face at the
hospital. This portrays Frank s weak human spirit, where he did not have profound understanding of
empathy as he tried to commit suicide. In contrast to this, in a later scene where Frank jokes around
with Dwayne, the use of close up shot allows the audience to recognise his happy emotional status.
Moreover, understand how his developing relationships with family members and their shared
experiences which influenced him to find happiness in life. It reveals the power of developing human

Essay on Religious Experience
To experience a new religion is to open one s mind to an entirely new world. For my World Religions
course, I was asked to visit a place of worship for a religion other than what I was most used to. Upon
considering being raised as a Pentacostal Christian, the first idea that came to me after hearing this
was for Billy and I to go with our friend Arjun s family to a Hindu temple since Arjun had moved
away recently to go to college however, he was unable to attend. On Sunday, February 21, Billy and I
joined Arjun s father in his trip to the Hindu temple in Orlando we had to wake up earlier than usual
for a Sunday but it was for good cause. We arrived at the temple in Orlando just before 10AM for a
prayer service that was difficult to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around the inside of the building were candles, incense, and different statues of what I m sure were a
multitude of separate Hindu deities. Of course, being relatively new to the Hindu gods and goddesses,
I wasn t able to identify too many, but I did recognize the remover of obstacles, Ganesh for what I
figure is one rather obvious reason. I could only assume other popular divine figures including lord
Vishnu and the mother goddess Devi resided with these other statues. Eventually it appeared the
priests began lighting candles and pouring milk over Vishnu and Ganesh statues I gather this only
because Arjun s father gave Billy and I a play by play of sorts as we were in the rear of the room and
found it difficult to see everything. People began chanting Vishu s and Ganesh s names along with
other non English words I couldn t quite make out while still apparently in prayer. Arjun s father
described this part as being more of a specifically focused prayer to the individual gods. The number
of times the chants repeated remains a mystery to me but It certainly seemed to go on for quite a while
Finally, following the chanting sessions, the congregation began singing hymns in what can be
assumed to be the same non English language. The sound of this was beautiful probably because I am
used to songs sung in Germanic languages which never give quite the same feeling that is, until Billy
decided to make a pathetic attempt at

Symptoms And Treatment Of Delirium
Delirium is an acute change in brain function that can be accompanied by inattention and either a
change in cognition or perceptual disturbances (Allen and Alexander, 2012). Delirium in critical care
patients is very common, it actually occurs in 2 out of 3 intensive care patients who are on a ventilator,
but often goes undetected because delirium monitoring is considered too time consuming or unreliable
(Reade and Finfer, 2014). Intensive care unit (ICU) patients that have delirium spend more days on a
ventilator, remain on sedation longer, have increased chance for infections, have longer hospital stays,
and higher mortality rates during their hospital admission and in the 6 months after.
According to Eastwood, Peck, Bellomo, Baldwin, and Reade (2012), most of these patients are also
left with permanent cognitive problems that they struggle with for years. Not only does delirium cause
more issues with the patients, it can cost the hospital more money due to increased length of stay,
hospital acquired infections such as pneumonia, and re admissions. Studies have shown that using the
confusion assessment method (CAM) every shift, and performing the assessment correctly, can help
detect delirium in ICU patients earlier. When delirium is caught early the healthcare team can initiate
interventions to decrease the severity of delirium and work towards better outcomes for the patient.
Identified Current Practice Issue
ICU patients are not being assessed for delirium every

What Are The Challenges Faced By African Americans In The...
The life of African Americans in the 1800 was so harsh and unfair. Their owners would treat them
cruelly and made them work long hours. They were not fed and had no sanitation which led to
malnutrition and disease. Many young girls also went through sexual abuse and owners wouldn t even
get prosecuted because they were the ones who ruled everything. They separated many families from
husbands, wife s, and children. Those who were not prepared suffered every day because they were
not with their families. Many of them never saw their family again. Two factors that prompted the
growth of the slave trade in half the century before the civil war were the cash value for slave
increased and the slave trade ended. This happened because the legal importation of slaves to U.s. was
ended in 1808. So, selling slaves became a huge business for brokers and auctioneers. Because they
could gain more money by selling the slaves rather than just getting another slave for one who works
better. Because the importation ended they had to start selling slaves locally. This made the slaves ...

  • 3. Essay about Comparing Oceania in 1984 and the USA Comparing Oceania in 1984 and the USA This paper will discuss the similarities and differences between the Oceanic society of Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four and the society of the United States. First I will talk about the similarities and then I will finish off with the differences, all of which will be based on factual information that I have gathered both, from the book and the mainstream media. Then I will finish by coming to a conclusion to an opinion I have and whether the government systems are more similar or different. In order to do so, I had to ask myself some important questions like: Is the telescreen in the book the same as the cameras at work watching us or the satellites the government has in space that can see you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These people, for whom the government really does not care, are seen as a burden. The overall conclusion to this statement is that the classes are divided with different opportunities and even though not as much as the government officials in the book, the upper classes still have more freedom to excel and do as they please. The second similarity is that both governments believe that ?War is Peace.? We saw in the book that the government of Oceania believed that the only way to have peace was through war and strength. They would at one time be peaceful with one of the two other two countries in the world, Eurasia or Eastasia, while waging war against the other. The government would also use excuses on why they were waging war. The same is here in The United States. We went to Iraq for reasons that some feel were not justified while others feel differently. The main argument of the opposition was that we went to war with Iraq on the basis that they had weapons of mass destruction and so forth but non were found. The question that I want to ask is: Were we lied to as the people in Oceania were? The third similarity is that both governments have their hands and control in every aspect of society?s life. Also the government spies on their citizens. In the book we saw Oceania had absolute control over people?s life. Even though the control that the United State government has over people?s lives these days is not as great as the one in the book, they still interfere ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the book we are given examples of how Holden has different feelings based on who he is talking to. Three important characters in the book give three different personalities that add up to the overall conclusion that Holden is crazy. Stradlater is one of the most non innocent characters in the story, and we see throughout the book Holden picking fights with him. He is known to take girls on dates and rape them in the back of his coaches car. After he takes Holden s childhood friend, Jane, on a date, he refuses to tell Holden what they did. Holden assumes he tried to rape her and take away her innocence, and immediately he grows in hatred toward Stradlater. The text says, I told him he didn t care because he was a goddam stupid moron. He hated it when you called him a moron. All morons hate when you call them a moron. (50) Holden then gets into a big fight with Stradlater. In the story he calls him, A dirty stupid sonuvabitch moron. (50) And says, That s just the trouble with all you morons. You never want to discuss anything. That s the way you can always tell a moron. They never want to discuss anything. (50) He yells at Stradlater, tries to anger him, and ends up losing in a fight to him. This assumption is reinforced in the latter part of the poem, when Millay personifies April once more unsatisfied with the seasons return, stating April Comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers. (17 18) By again referring to the season of Spring as April, (1,17) as well as associating the month with human characteristics and activities such as being an idiot, babbling, and strewing flowers, (18) the personification of Spring becomes even more clear. From this perspective, just as Spring cannot appease Millay with beauty or prospect of flowers, one cannot truly mend a broken relationship with words and gifts alone. The actions of babbling and strewing (18) are associated with ignorance, thus one can assume Millay is annoyed with the month of Spring, as people who receive flowers are most likely doing so because they have been annoyed or hurt by their significant other. Just as Spring continually returns, creating life ignorant of death, an annoying lover returns to a damaged heart, ignorant to the absence of love. Millay uses free verse elements, more specifically thought provoking questions, to enhance the overall poetic feeling of Spring . Beginning with the proposal of a question, To what purpose, April, do you return again? (1) Millay blatantly challenges the reason behind natural order. Millay again does this when stating, It is ... The exception to this statement occurs in the global urban areas with high population densities. In these areas, the substitutes available (e.g., walking, mass transit, bicycles, etc.) can be less costly than automobiles and thus alternative modes of transportation are often preferred. Also, there are inherent underlying social and cultural attitudes that keep people from owning automobiles in some parts of the world. But on social media, informal language in written work can reach a much larger audience. English language pundits believe that the use of informal language will be integrated into formal styles of writing over the next 50 years. Informal language will be introduced into formal writing due to younger generations being increasingly exposed to informal language when reading, and formal writing adapting to reflect our society which communicates informally. Children are now growing up in a society where informal language is becoming more commonplace. Discuss your understanding of historic and contemporary colonization, how it continues to affect First Nations, Metis, and or Inuit peoples today and how it may be reflected in your proposed specific area of social work practice. To begin with, colonization began when first contact was made between Indigenous peoples of Canada and Europeans. At first the settlers were humble to Indigenous peoples and learnt how to survive the diverse land of what is known as Canada. As settlers began getting established in Canada, the land began getting taken over by Europeans. The signing of treaties was a mechanism used to divide and conquer the lands from Indigenous peoples. Indian reserves were created to separate different tribes and land was claimed for natives to live on. According to ..... the land given was not very healthy and did not accommodate the way first nation peoples lived. Next, the Indian Act was established in hopes to absorb indianess and in hopes would expire therefore eliminating the existence of indianess . In addition to the Indian Act came another mechanism called residential schools. • 22. Large Urban Cities In America Problem Statement Global Warming is quickly becoming a growing issue for large urban cities in America. As we expand our urban areas with the growing population, cities use more energy for air conditioning, water, and lighting (). Although air conditioning is powered by electricity, many urban cities rely on the combustion of coal for energy (). Combustion of coal emits CO2 and deadly gases into the atmosphere which leads to Global Warming (). Buildings in urban areas use conventional roofs as their main aesthetics. Conventional roofs are generally comprised of tar and gravel. On hot summer days, conventional rooftops can be 27 50°C hotter than the surrounding air temperature. This happens because the albedo of tar and gravel is extremely low which allows for the sun s energy to be absorbed instead of reflected (). The increased temperature leads to urban heat islands (). Increasing higher albedo surfaces on roofs will result in more reflection of solar energy away from the urban areas (). Rooftops covered in plants, also known as Green Roofs have grown popular tremendously in the last decade. These rooftops are covered in natural greenery like small trees, bushes, flowers, grass, etc. Green roofs are cost effective way to solve many problems with global warming in urban areas (). It can be argued that this debate stems from one of the most controversial, yet successful, experiments to be created: Dolly the sheep. In Gregory Pence s chapter, From Dolly to Humans? from his novel, Who s Afraid of Human Cloning?, Dolly is heavily discussed. Pence details that in Edinburgh, Scotland, on February 24, 1997, Ian Wilmut s successful attempt to clone a lamb took the world by storm (1). Almost immediately after the experiment was publicized, everyone from commoners, scientists, and even lawmakers joined in unison to rebuke the idea of the future cloning of humans. Only days after the announcement of Dolly s existence, according to Pence, human cloning was entirely banned and thus one of the biggest philosophical questions to emerge from biology was swiftly dismissed. Why did this experimental delve into the biological cause such an uproar? In the words of Gregory Pence, emotions can be justified, but they can also stem from our most primitive, prejudiced reactions (6). Furthermore, the study from KPMG (2003) and ACFE (2008) all agreed FFR is the least common but most costly fraud (Carcello and Hermanson, 2008). The estimated annual cost of FFR in USA is $1 trillion (ACFE, 2008), and this is just under the relaxed disclosure regulation, which is the Securities Offering Reform, issued in 2005 in America (Clinton et al., 2014). For instance, Hanlon gives an example of animal experimentation in which the Cardiff University done by sewing thirty one kittens eyelids shut to study the effects of lazy eye in children (1). However, the British Union of the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) argues against Hanlon s claim that cat brains and cat vision are fundamentally different to human and it is hard to see how anything useful can be gained by the research (Hanlon 1), and experiments like sewing kittens eyelids together to study amblyopia have been done many years ago, and yet no cure has been found (Hanlon 1). Hanlon claim that many surgical procedures would be impossible without operating on animals in the laboratory, and fears that without animal experimentation, people would be used as guinea pigs instead (2). By focusing on surgical procedures done on animals, Hanlon overlooks the deeper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. buddhist temple reflection paper 2 1 My first experience in a Buddhist temple was quite different than anything I have experienced religion wise. I visited the Quan Am Monastery (Vietnamese American Buddhist) at 3500 South Goodlet. I got to experience first hand how meditation in a Buddhist temple actually works. I was very intrigued to find out how someone outside of the Christian faith, worshipped. As one might expect, the atmosphere was very tranquil. My group members and I called ahead a few days earlier and a man answered the phone and it was very hard to understand what he saying but I know I heard him say come on Friday so that s what we did. After a while it went away when I stop thinking about it; I truly think it was a figment of my imagination. We meditated for at least 30 to 45 minutes. He hit the dung 3 times to let us know the meditation was ending. When I opened my eyes I felt so calm and relaxed as if I had no worries in the world. It was so peaceful. The guy who led meditation opened up the floor for questions, but I really didn t have any questions to ask because I was so calm and I had already asked all the questions that I needed to know when were outside. So we ended the question part and he let us take pictures. We went outside and put our shoes back on and walked around to the back so he could explain the statues to us. He allowed us to go inside the Vietnamese temple and take a look around and it was the biggest temple I have ever seen. He told us about what goes inside there. The Buddhist people that speak English go inside the temple that looks like a house and the ones that don t goes inside the big one. We took pictures of the building looked around. Today, I ll be sharing with you guys one of my favourite pieces by romantic composer, Chopin, Prelude No 15, or more commonly known as Raindrop. Frederic Chopin s Prelude No 15, also known as Raindrop, is one of Chopin s 24 preludes. His preludes were written between 1835 and 1839 and were published in 1839. Chopin s preludes were arranged in a circle of fifths, with each major key being followed by its relative minor. In comparison, Bach s collection of fugues and preludes, known as The Well Tempered Clavier was arranged according to keys, each one a semitone higher. The purpose is to provide an up to date and comprehensive, analytical framing of auteur theory and enhance the arguments laid down by critics, thinkers and theorists on both the psychoanalysis concerned with the consideration of the original self in a postmodern society and whether the collaborative, creative nature of the animation industry lends itself to the term auteur. The dissertation will provide a social, historical and theoretical study of a number of discourses concerned with the animation industry, examining distinguishable personalities within the medium and formulating a thesis on arguments limiting auteur theory to the status of high art whilst questioning the genealogical construction of understanding surrounding the bourgeois construct of authorship. The paper sets about to provide an unbiased argument on the authentic nature of auteurism within contemporary perceptions of animated cinema, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Bataan Death March was extremely brutal, which left many survivors thinking if they should have died at the beginning of the march. During the Bataan Death March, the Americans and Filipinos were forced to walk 65 miles in five to twelve days without food or water while enduring regular beatings ( Bataan Death March, 1942 ) . The Code of Bushido was followed by the ancient Japanese, which respected the ways of warrior. It was a code that taught the Japanese dedication and respect for their Emperor and their family. The code had required warriors to exhibit a strict sense of honor and self control, maintain a benevolent yet detached attitude towards life, care for the Earth and other people, and be loyal to one s country and family. However, the Emperor had used the Code of Bushido to brainwash and control soldiers. The Emperor used it as a tool to motivate the people to murder and die for the code. According to the Japanese, if you surrendered, you would disappoint your family and country. In World War II when the Japanese were held prisoner in Cowra prison in Australia, many of them changed their names so that their parents assumed they were dead rather than disappointing them. The Code of Bushido made the Japanese treat the Americans and Filipinos in a savage and brutal manner. Moreover, the Japanese s treatment of prisoners affected how Americans saw them. The Americans believed the Japanese were brutal human beings. The Americans saw them as that because during the Bataan Death March, if you stopped marching, the Japanese would kill you with a bayonet or rifle. In the process of embarking on a journey an individual must discover something about themselves or the society which is found through obstacles. For my World Religions course, I was asked to visit a place of worship for a religion other than what I was most used to. Upon considering being raised as a Pentacostal Christian, the first idea that came to me after hearing this was for Billy and I to go with our friend Arjun s family to a Hindu temple since Arjun had moved away recently to go to college however, he was unable to attend. On Sunday, February 21, Billy and I joined Arjun s father in his trip to the Hindu temple in Orlando we had to wake up earlier than usual for a Sunday but it was for good cause. Of course, being relatively new to the Hindu gods and goddesses, I wasn t able to identify too many, but I did recognize the remover of obstacles, Ganesh for what I figure is one rather obvious reason. I could only assume other popular divine figures including lord Vishnu and the mother goddess Devi resided with these other statues. Eventually it appeared the priests began lighting candles and pouring milk over Vishnu and Ganesh statues I gather this only because Arjun s father gave Billy and I a play by play of sorts as we were in the rear of the room and found it difficult to see everything. People began chanting Vishu s and Ganesh s names along with other non English words I couldn t quite make out while still apparently in prayer. Arjun s father described this part as being more of a specifically focused prayer to the individual gods. The number of times the chants repeated remains a mystery to me but It certainly seemed to go on for quite a while Finally, following the chanting sessions, the congregation began singing hymns in what can be assumed to be the same non English language. The sound of this was beautiful probably because I am used to songs sung in Germanic languages which never give quite the same feeling that is, until Billy decided to make a pathetic attempt at ... • 50. Symptoms And Treatment Of Delirium Delirium is an acute change in brain function that can be accompanied by inattention and either a change in cognition or perceptual disturbances (Allen and Alexander, 2012). Delirium in critical care patients is very common, it actually occurs in 2 out of 3 intensive care patients who are on a ventilator, but often goes undetected because delirium monitoring is considered too time consuming or unreliable (Reade and Finfer, 2014). Intensive care unit (ICU) patients that have delirium spend more days on a ventilator, remain on sedation longer, have increased chance for infections, have longer hospital stays, and higher mortality rates during their hospital admission and in the 6 months after. According to Eastwood, Peck, Bellomo, Baldwin, and Reade (2012), most of these patients are also left with permanent cognitive problems that they struggle with for years. Not only does delirium cause more issues with the patients, it can cost the hospital more money due to increased length of stay, hospital acquired infections such as pneumonia, and re admissions. Studies have shown that using the confusion assessment method (CAM) every shift, and performing the assessment correctly, can help detect delirium in ICU patients earlier. When delirium is caught early the healthcare team can initiate interventions to decrease the severity of delirium and work towards better outcomes for the patient.
