The Collapse Of The European Union Essay
In the wake of two devastating European wars, there was a vague desire across Europe for more
unity to hopefully prevent yet another terrible conflict from breaking out. However, views over the
proper scope and implementation of any such unity were often divided between the philosophies of
supranationalism and intergovernmentalism. At different times, both ideas played a part in shaping
the future European Union, depending on the moods of European leaders and their constituents.
Throughout the history of postwar Europe, almost every major development toward
supranational unity can be attributed to a handful of powerful people. In fact, the first official
institution of postwar European cooperation, the ECSC, was founded by a few leaders of state.
Robert Schuman, the French foreign minister, adopted Jean Monnet s idea of merging French and
German coal and steel production as a peaceful and economically advantageous tool to prevent
Germany from once again rising up against France and the rest of Europe. Once Schuman had the
idea, all that was needed to officially found the ECSC was the Schuman Declaration and the
consent of Germany s Chancellor Adenauer. Several years later, the next big step in European
integration came from the work of ECSC president Jean Monnet, as well as Paul Henri Spaak, who
both resolved to create stronger economic ties between the countries in the ECSC. The immediate
result was the formation of EURATOM, a cooperation agreement on the subject of

A Interview About A Former Florida Atlantic University...
As I reflect on my life, I can t imagine my life without sports. Sports is my passion and the one
thing that keeps me sane and happy. This assignment has showed me the love I have for sports
and how it consumes my whole life. My whole life revolves around it. As I am sitting down
writing this paper, I am listening to an interview about a former Florida Atlantic University
football player who is now dealing with life after the NFL. His name is Christian Milstead, a
2015 Exercise Science and Health Promotion graduate. After the 2015 NFL draft, Milstead was
invited to take part of the Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp. Unfortunately, he wasn t one of
the 300 people who made it on a NFL roster. Milstead, however, life is going great. Of course, he
would love to be playing on Sundays, but he is enjoying life as a Personal Trainer Director for
one of LA Fitness locations in South Florida. I thought coming out of college I would working
for a network or an organization as a sports reporter. Seven months later, I am still trying to
adjust to life as a teacher. Every day I miss waking up every morning to go and report on FAU. I
was a sports director for FAU s student media outlet OwlTV and I was more of a sideline reporter
than a director. I enjoyed reporting about the football players trying to get to the next level which
was the NFL or former NBA veteran Michael Curry attempting to bring success to the men s
basketball program. Since April, I have put down the microphone, mainly

Nowadays, most of the countries on this world is trying to make peace and gain alliances with

the world. A map that illustrates the colonial possessions was shown. Under the map, Colin
Nicolson provided a chart of the size of colonial empire in 1913. In 1913, Britain was the biggest
colonial empire. Its area was 33,000,000 sq. km. and has up to 400,000,000 of population.
These numbers by far passes the second largest empire, France. In 1913, France s land area was

Hydrogen Atoms And Hydrogen Molecules
Water is a molecule which is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Water can
appear in forms like gasses (steam/water vapor from a kettle), liquids (drinking water or mineral
water), and a solid form (ice is the only example of solidified water). The human body has more
than a half of total water content. Water has specialised properties as the hydrogen (2 atoms) and
oxygen(1 atom) connect to each other to make a water molecule. The hydrogen atoms join the top of
the water molecule when the hydrogen atoms connect with oxygen. This structure means that the
water has polarity. Polarity is an electric charge which has the power to get the attention of other
atoms. The last part of the water molecule contains two hydrogen bonds which are positively
charged however, the hydrogen bondwhich connects the oxygen to the hydrogen s is negatively
charged that is why they have each other s attention as opposites attract. Water has a high
specific heat capacity of 4181 J/Kg degrees which is higher than oxygen which has 918 J/Kg
degrees. If water is clean then the pH will be 7.Water has a neutral pH in its uncontaminated form
(pH 7).The intermolecular forces which are found in water are hydrogen bonding. Due to
hydrogen bonding the boiling point of water is high because hydrogen bonding is very powerful.
The hydrogen bonds are sticky this is what makes the hydrogen molecules join to the oxygen
molecule. It is not as powerful as covalent bonds but it is more powerful

What Is Josh Sounder Essay
Josh Bailey was drafted with the 9th pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Crazy to think that this
coming June, it will be 10 years since that moment. Looking back to that time, it wasn t exactly an
ideally situation. The islanders had the 5th overall pick going into that draft. They would trade
that to the leafs and swipe first round picks. The isles would move back to the 7th pick which was
then moved to Nashville and they would end up picking Bailey with the 9th overall pick.
10 years after there are still a lot of people who just don t like having Bailey on the team. A bunch
of different reasons behind that. The main reason is if you look back At the 2008 draft a lot big

A lot of people just wanted him gone from the team. Now he is the guy who people just can t
decide on. He is playing way to well to hate this season and it s time to consider him an elite and
valuable part of the New York Islanders.
Coming off a career season of 56 points, Bailey is off to a hot start in the 2017 2018 season.
Through 17 games, he currently has 18 points, which puts him on an 87 point pace for this season.
Last season, he was placed on a line with John Tavares and Andres Lee and that line worked
wonders. With the addition of Jordan Eberle this season, that bumped Bailey off the top line. After
about 7 games, coach Weight decided to put the line back together. Bailey, despite having a strong
start to the season, didn t miss a beat rejoining his line mates from last season.
It s also hard to not root for a guy who is such a good person off the ice. Just as @tomlofaso329
of the Blue and Orange army said He s routinely progressed since we drafted him. He s a class act
on and off the ice, and one of the nicest guys I ve had the pleasure of meeting. So, happy he s
been lighting it up the last few years he s worked so hard for it and deserves it. No matter what
the outcome of the game, no matter how his night was, Bailey was one of the few guys who
would always stop by the ramp at the coliseum and come out and sign autographs and take pictures
with the fans. He has a lot of loyal fans that have enjoyed watching him play since the beginning.

Hero Is A Hero Essay
A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself (Joseph
Campbell Quotes). Heroes impact other people s lives by contributing to a cause that makes a
positive change in the world. To me, a hero is somebody who believes in a significant cause,
dedicates his entire life to improving the cause, and changes the world for the better. Heroism
today can be found all over the world and in all different forms. It could be as small as standing
up for a victim of bullying, voicing your opinions for an important cause, or helping someone in a
dangerous situation. However, it could also be as big as finding the cure for a disease, saving
people from a burning building, or inventing a life saving device. The unifying... Show more

Similarities Between Gemilut Chasidim And Tikkun Olam
Jewish ethics are inspired by the Sacred texts and are expressed in several different ways. Ethics
have been derived from the Torah, and Prophetic visions, and are expressed through practices
like Gemilut Chasidim and Tikkun Olam. The Scared Texts teach that Jews should be open to
serving the poor and many mitzvot command Jewish people to address the needs of the poor.
Gemilut Chasidim is how adherents respond to the call of God to serve others. Literally, giving of
lovingkindness Gemilut Chasidim is a Jewish practice whereby adherents are required to give their
time in service of others with no expectation of reward, as the Torahcalls them to do. Deuteronomy

The concept varies between the different variants, Orthodox Jews interpret it as overcoming
idolatry while Conservative and Progressive Jews believe that it as social justice. Different variants
of Judaism express their commitment to Gemilut Chasidim and Tikkun Olam in different ways.
The National Council of Jewish Women is an example of progressive Jews coming together to
pursue justice for all people. The NCJWA has many programs which support disenfranchised
women both internationally and domestically with projects aiding victims of assault, displaced
peoples, and handicapped children. The members of NCJWA are inspired by their faith to serve
the less fortunate and seek justice across the world. They have sought to bring the world closer to
God through acts of love and through their works of social justice, they have completed acts of

Response To Nozick s Mental State Theory Of Wellbeig
Hedonism is a form of wellbeing theory about what is best in our interest and what is good for us.
According to hedonism, wellbeing relies solely on pleasure experienced. Although there are some
hedonist theories that values extrinsic pleasure, in this essay we will be looking at hedonism that
values pleasurefelt from inside, i.e., hedonismas a mental state theory of wellbeing. This theory has
met quite a numbers of objections. We will focus on one such popular objection developed by
Robert Nozick. Nozick challenged the mental state theories of wellbeing with his thought
experiment about an experience machine. This objection is sought out as ultimate weapon to
knockdown hedonism (Weijers 2010, pp. 1). There has been attempts made to defend hedonism
from this objection. Few of these responses will be discussed to determine if they are able to
successfully overcome Nozick s objection. Pleasure and pain mentioned will automatically refer to
the intrinsic sensations, not physical activity nor as external... Show more content on

Reality matter intrinsically to us because it acquaints us with experiences that makes us feel pain
and pleasure from inside. The experiences that Nozick s machine offers are deceptions because the
machine fools us into thinking that we are actually experiencing pleasure. The illusion of being a
great soccer player when you are not talented may be good for you at the moment. But it is better to
face the truth and pursue another interest that you are talented at, for it would give you more
pleasure in long run. Deception ultimately result in pain. So, spending a lifetime plugged to the
machine would give more pain than pleasure. Therefore, people choose reality over experience
machine because reality could provide more pleasure than the experience machine. Nozick is wrong

The World Of Osama Bin Laden
Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted
an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who s responsible
for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Barack Obama If that did not

America s biggest reliefs. I never thought that this day will come. I chose Osama Bin s speech to
the nation about Osama Bin Laden being dead. In this paper, I am going to research and critically
examine and evaluate by using the five classical canons of rhetoric. I will explain into detail Obama
s speech dealing with the invention, organization, style, delivery, and memory. May 1, 2011
Barack Obama presented a speech to the American nation and the world that Osama Bin Laden
was dead. Obama did this speech to inform the nation on the big news, but also to approve of his
nation and other nations that helped find and were able to capture and have him killed. As he
speaks to the nation, he stands next to an American flag. This suggests that he is proud of his nation
and thankful for the country that he is president of. Obama did not only just state that Osama Bin
Laden was dead; he brought the audience through a long journey on how they found Bin Laden.

How Did Langston Hughes Contribute To The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance stands as one of the greatest cultural, social and artistic movements in U.S.
history. This time period consisted of a migration of black Americans from rural Southern states
such as Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana to urban Harlem, New York. Originally called, the New
Negro Movement meaning, many believed this brought a new black cultural identity to an almost
all white culture. At this time, Langston Hughes, famous Harlem Renaissanceauthor, wrote many
controversial pieces about slavery, he mentions that they send him to eat in the kitchen (Hughes 1)
which describes how many slaves suffered in these days. For America, this movement helped
redefine how America saw the African Americancommunity, and it helped set the stage for the
Civil Rights Movement of 1950 1960. For Langston Hughes, his works reflected his love for jazz
music but also told the story of what he saw and heard back in the 1920 s to the 1930 s, what most

With whites standing as the more dominant race back then, many of them became curious of what
actually occurred in the daily life of a black man in Harlem. This curiosity lit the match for the
Harlem Renaissance to occur. Many African American poets, singers, and painters, like Langston
Hughes, came into the light at this time and joined in on the cultural tradition of African American
humor, music, and song; their work thus accords a privileged place for the many and varied sounds
of laughter in black America at this time (Chasar 58). The culture these African Americans brought
to an almost white country in every way other than color, deems worthy of more praise than it
received. The Harlem Renaissance brought a cultural explosion to a predominantly white nation.

In his book length essay, The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus presents a philosophy that contests
philosophy itself. This essay belongs squarely in the philosophical tradition of existentialism but
Camus denied being an existentialist. Both The Myth of Sisyphus and his other philosophical work,
The Rebel, are systematically skeptical of conclusions about the meaning of life, yet both works
assert objectively valid answers to key questions about how to live. Though Camus seemed modest
when describing his intellectual ambitions, he was confident enough as a philosopher to articulate
not only his own philosophy but also a critique of religion and a fundamental critique of modernity.
While rejecting the very idea of a philosophical system, Camus constructed his own original edifice
of ideas around the key terms of absurdity and rebellion, aiming to resolve the life or death issues

Domestic firms in host countries can benefit from foreign firms through imitation and labour
turnover which transfers managerial and production skills. However, foreign firms are more likely
to pay higher wages than domestic firms. This would limit the spillovers from labour turnover. In
addition, foreign firms are more likely to prevent technological spillovers to domestic firms to avoid

Private domestic and private foreign firms make up the private sector. Private sector is the engine

The Satyricon, like many other works written in the time of early Ancient Rome, is a narrative

masterwork of the pragmatic and materialistic attitude of the time, soon to be replaced by
Christianity. Dinner with Trimalchiotells a tale from the perspective of Encolpius, a vagabond

Another way Petronius exemplifies his purpose of writing this story is showing the importance of

the scholarly teacher and friend of Trimalchio, is very well respected by the populace of the story.
There is one passage in particular where Trimalchio tries to spark a conversation with Agamemnon

Stewardship In The Army Profession
A good leader in the United States Army is made up of several different essential characteristics.
As soon to become leaders in our profession, is our individual responsibility to know, understand
and apply these characteristics in the way we conduct ourselves every day. Because we are the
role models for soldiers to follow not only in our job but also in our personal life. Stewardship of
the Army profession in one of these mayor characteristics of a good leader in our career. Being a
steward of the profession, focuses in three mayor traits: character, competence and commitment.
First, we need to define and clarify our main topic; stewardship. The Department of the Army
defines stewardship as the responsibility of Army professionals to strengthen the Army as a
profession and to care for the people and other resources entrusted to them by the American people
. From this definition we can stay that stewardship is a duty or an obligation to preserve and make
a better profession of the Army and their resources, to include human and material resources....

The term commitment is the state of being dedicate to something, it could be a specific task, an
activity or a belief. Your dedication to everything that you do in life it is always noticeable on
the outcome, in your daily performance and responsibility as an Army steward. Taking care of
our subordinates and peers conveys a high level of commitment. Because when things go wrong,
when things get hard, and we know they will get hard, being commit is what will help you stay
focused and push forward to complete any mission presented to us. The Army profession requires
allot of sacrifices and considering other people needs over your own, for this reason and many
other reasons soldiers need to commit to each other and the Army mission. For this reason, leaders
and soldiers can build trust and respect between us and the American

The Physics Of Chemistry Class
In Chemistry class, the one word you will hear repeatedly is the atom. But in the beginning, it
was never this way. Before people had a rough idea what things were made up of, we all thought
objects were made up of the four elements: water, earth, fire, and air. This thought was given to
us by Aristotle, who was a popular philosopher and scientist in 322 B.C. Then one day, a man
named Democritus proclaimed that every substance is made up of tiny, indivisible particles. The
Greek said that these particles were called atomon , and they all varied in shape depending on their
properties. But this idea was rejected by leading philosophers at the time, which was around 400

Later on in the 20th century came a man named Earnest Rutherford. This physicist conducted an
experiment that is widely known in the chemistry world: the gold foil experiment. The experiment
went like this: there was an alpha particle source that would pass through gold foil in a vacuum. The
outcome of this experiment was that the particle went through, but went in different directions. This
forced Rutherford to conclude that an atom was much more than just open space with scattered
electrons, showing that Thomson s Plum Pudding Model to be inaccurate. Rutherford had also
concluded that an atom must have a positively charged center that contained most of it s atomic
mass. Rutherford was a major contribution to chemistry, discovering the nucleus and the proton.
Rutherford s discovery helped other scientists by his discovery. English physicist James Chadwick,
for example. When Rutherford proposed that an electron and a proton could combine together to
make a neutral particle, it came to the question what else was in a nucleus addition to protons. But
there was no evidence of this. Another experiment had caught Chadwick s attention: an experiment
by Frederic and Irene Joliot Curie. The pair had studied the radiation from beryllium as it hit a
paraffin wax target. The couple had found that the radiation hit the protons, causing them to be
knocked loose from hydrogen atoms in that target. The protons also recoiled with a high velocity.

Apple Porter s Five Forces

managers in their task to analyze competitive forces to the company. (Hill amp; Jones 80) This
model is only one of the models that can be used for this task but it is one of the more popular
models. The five forces that we will have to look at for this model are (1) the risk of new and
potential competitors; (2) the bargaining power of suppliers; (3) the threat of substitute products;
(4) the bargaining power of buyers; and (5) the degree of rivalry among established companies

Since IBM became the more popular computer to start with, switching cost became much higher
if you wanted to switch to a Macintosh, an Apple operating system. All the software that you
owned for the IBM computer would be useless for an Apple computer. That means along with
purchasing the new computer itself you would also have to repurchase all the software that you
had on the old computer in the new Macintosh format. Also the two computers work slightly
different, so you may have to take a class or two to help you understand how to work this new
computer that you purchased. Overall that is much more money then it would be just to buy
another computer compatible with the same system that you already own. A third barrier to entry
is one of imitation and absolute cost advantages. This is were IBM has lost it s advantage. IBM
has created a computer that is very open for imitation. There are many different computers that are
compatible to the IBM format. Each new company that has entered the market has realized that
IBM had the more popular system and then tried to copy it. These new companies were producing
very similar computers at the same cost but charging less. (Hill amp; Jones 207) This in turn

A Questionnaire on the American Samoan Society
In what ways was the traditional leadership of Samoan villages different from typical American
leadership?
On the political level in the United States, most leaders are elected directly or appointed to office
by politicians, although they often come from very wealthy and privileged backgrounds and have
their political careers financed by various special interests. Of course, much of the real leadership
in the country is based on wealth and income, or control of large corporations, bureaucracies and
financial institutions. Samoa has a matai or chief system that traditionally controlled the social,
political and economic order. Those in the lower castes were expected to show respect and
deference to their elders and hereditary rulers, rather than the more modern (post French
Revolution) concept of equal citizenship for all. Chiefs controlled all exchanges and the distribution
of wealth and land, which is also quite different from the capitalistic individualism that lies at the
core of modern American culture, and naturally the U.S. colonizers attempted to undermine this
traditional system.
How did the traditional system of chiefly power reinforce the close knit social system of village life?
This traditional society in Samoa and other Polynesian islands was based on the clan and the
extended family, each of which had elders, chiefs and patriarchs. It was a collectivist and
hierarchical society, not at all a democracy, in which the hereditary elites were the governing

Swot Analysis Of Fedex
The Federal Express (FedEx) was born as an idea for a college paper by Fredrick Smith in 1971.
In the paper, he suggested using air transportation to deliver urgent packages overnight since
airports tend to be not congested during that time of day, would make the transportation much
faster and economical. After acquiring a share in Arkansas Aviation Sales, Fred started his
package delivery business, which turned profitable by 1975 and saw a rapid growth to own 43%
of the market by the early 1990s. [1] United Parcel Service (UPS) started as a collaboration

By doing so, the company is not obligated to provide them health benefits and other allowances
(which is mandated for employees only), thereby the company had a good control on labor costs
(limited employee growth) and had significant savings. The ISP model was challenged in courts
and eventually had to resort to negotiating with multiple contractors nationwide to deliver packages
in a timely manner with the new trade rules and regulations.
FedEx follows the The Purple Promise in which the company focusses on customer satisfaction and
accepts the shipment details as is from the customer without any sort of verification. This could lead
to shipment delays if there are mistakes in the destination address by the customer which would
lead to customer dissatisfaction. [3]
UPS also has segmented its business into three segments: US domestic package, International
package and Supply chain and Freight services. According to the 2015 revenue report, US
domestic package was highest revenue segment with a share of 62% followed by International
package (21%) and Supply chain and Freight services (17%). [4]

Passing is the story about the life surrounds two main character, Clare Kendry and Irene Redfield
but it portrays them as powerless creatures that struggle in identify themselves in their own
society. It also portrays the picture of men as power creatures against women, as if they are the
gender slave owners where the women are the gender slaves. John Bellew is the perfect figure
that is portrayed in this story, symbolizing the power of the men in society. Clare Kendry, fearing
that John might figure out her original root, shrinks herself into a small creature, powerless,
helpless against him. This situation symbolizes the ideology in the family s structure of power
in the society, where men are always in charge of the house, and women have to follow what
they said. When he came into the room during the party, his greeting to Clare was, Hello, Nig

greeting still heated up their anger. Even though it was very offensive, Clare and her friends still
could not do anything about it. This shows the power of John over all the women, as the only
man in the room. His power controls Clare in everything, where she had to be careful what she did

The Impact Of Web 2.0 Technology On An Global Market Place
INB20009/ MKT20011 Managing the Global Market Place
Essay The Impact of Web 2.0 Technology on an international firm s approach to Managing the
Global Market Place
The global marketplace consists of business transactions amongst all nations around the world
that are not restricted by geographic locations. This worldwide scale of sales, purchase and
exchange of goods and services unsurprisingly makes it much more difficult to manage, as
opposed to a smaller, domestic business. It is important for managers of the global marketplace to
utilise the resources available, in order to effectively and efficiently deal business outside of
country borders. Web 2.0 Technology in particular, is a fairly new but extremely successful and
growing tool evident in the international marketplace. It refers to the World Wide Weband its use as
a platform to gather intelligence across the globe (O Reilly, 2009).
In order to manage the global marketplace, it is necessary to take into consideration the two main
factors of globalisation. Globalisation is the progression of the economy through cultural, political
and technological integration around the world (Wild Han, 2010). One of its major catalysts is
falling barriers to trade, which is the decrease in international boundaries between countries,
resulting in easier import and export transactions (Wild Han, 2010). This can be achieved through
different methods such as the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Under these agreements,

William Chaucer s Chretien De Troyes
When asked to envision medieval courts, often images from Game of Thrones or The Tudors come
to mind maybe even Sir Lancelot and jousting. Yet, these television shows and stories derive their
inspiration from a genuine historical context so fascinating and pervasive that nearly 1,000 years
later Western culture is still transfixed. French author ChrГ©tien de Troyes, who ironically penned
the first romantic depiction of Sir Lancelot, wrote many of the tales that inspire modern pop culture.
His stories, particularly that of CligГ©s written in 1176 AD, though filled with sometimes
supernatural, amorous, and scintillating drama, can reveal the political and social undercurrent of
the Middle Ages. Ultimately, the passionate characters and events presented in ChrГ©tien de
Troyes CligГ©s transcend the romantic realm, manifesting as representations of medieval court
and the rapidly evolving concepts of magic and science in the twelfth century. By dissecting Troyes
characters, specifically Thessala, John, and the Salernitan doctors, one can identify the movements
they symbolize. Additionally, understanding ChrГ©tien de Troyes position in society and purpose
for writing furthers reveals nuances in the plot indicative of the medieval social climate.
Essentially, ChrГ©tien de Troyes CligГ©s is reflective of the struggle between new and old ways
of interpreting science, medicine, and magical practices as well as the ever shifting social standing
of court life.

The Alamo Paragraph
The Alamo
As Texans began firing at the enemy, deadly shrapnel cut through the columns of advancing
Mexican soldiers and killed and injured many. (Bredson 10). The Alamo was a deadly battle in the
1830s over the independence of Texas from Mexico.
The Alamo was a battle between the Mexicans, and the Texans. The battle was fought over things
such as slavery and to break independence. (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen? Paragraph 2). The
battle started on February 23, 1836 to March 6, 1836. The Texans wanted independence from the
Mexicans, which caused a war. Many people, over 1600 died, and only a few survived, including
Susannah Dickinson and her infant (The Alamo. Paragraph 2).
Towards the end, Santa Anna, a general, was captured. Anna agreed to recognize Texan
independence and told his Mexican forces to leave the state (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen?
Paragraph 4). Most of the Texans were colonizers. They were looking for wealth, and were
happy to take the acres of land the Mexicans were giving (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen?
Paragraph 1). On February 23, one hundred fifty men waited outside of the Alamo. Only a few
who approached the Mexicans were Texans (Ramsdell 30). Many of the Texan soldiers were in a
roofless church, also including the famous Davy Crockett, when Mexican soldiers had busted in the
doors (Bredson 11). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Child Beauty Pageants
It s 6am, and Shona is waking up her 2 year old daughter, Megan for a busy day of spray tans,
false nails, gown fittings and hours of practicing her walk and dance routine for the beauty
pageant next week. Sounds ridiculous doesn t it? But it s true! Children as young as 18 months are
prancing around a stage doing inappropriate dances and being judged on how good they look. In
my view this is totally unacceptable.
Every year in the United States there are about 5,000 child beauty pageants with around 250,000
participants. Of these a shocking 6% will suffer from depression later in their lives. So that s
15,000 children suffering from depression due to beauty pageants. Girls who have been in
beauty pageants suffer from high levels of body dissatisfaction which can lead to depression;
they may feel that they are not beautiful unless they have make up caked all over their face and
skin looking orange from fake tan. Is this really how we want children to feel? Pageant girls are
also more likely to struggle to achieve perfection when they are older. This may make them more
vulnerable to eating disorders. From a young age they have been taught to value outer beauty and
thinness, and they will go to any lengths to achieve it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

William Shakespeare s Presentation of Cleopatra in Antony...
William Shakespeare s Presentation of Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra The presentation of
Cleopatra in Act three Scene thirteen is quite ambiguous. Her presentation in the rest of the play is
also very contrasting and distinct. I believe Shakespeare concentrated on demonstrating Cleopatra s
personality and ambiguity to emphasise that, being the only central female in the play, it is even
more surprising that she manages to act the way she does, with such an alarming range of emotions,
for example forging illness for attention and accusing Antony of leaving Egypt for the wrong
reasons. I think that Shakespeare wanted her character to be spontaneous, dramatic and attractive

Cleopatra s persistency is shown when she answers Antony back instantly demanding the truth.
Again she is shown as playing certain games . Perhaps she is required to act like this toward
Antony to declare herself in the male dominated situation in which the play is set. Most of the
time in the play, Cleopatra does not need to be persistent towards Antony because he listens to
first time, for example in Act three Scene seven when Antony is debating to himself whether to
fight at sea or land, Cleopatra tells him confidently that he should fight at sea. After she makes
this remark, Antony refuses to change his mind even though both Camidius and Enobarbus try
to persuade him not to fight at sea. This emphasises Cleopatras easy control over Antony even
more. At the beginning of the play in Act one Scene three, Cleopatra is heard having a
conversation with her two personal attendants about the ways in which you can attract a man.
Cleopatra s side of the argument, (1.3.2) See where he is, who s with him, what he does: I did
not send you. If you find him sad, Say I am dancing, if in mirth, report that I am sudden sick ,
presents her as an extremely jealous person. Shakespeare implies that Cleopatra is like this maybe
because she literally cannot trust anyone as the majority of people around her are men and will not

The Importance Of The Heroic Tale Of Sundiata
Throughout history, storytellers have used fantastic fables to entertain his or her audience. Filled
with larger than life characters and amazing tales of heroism, on the surface these fables simply
seem like mass entertainment much in the same way comic book heroes entertain us today on the
silver screen. However, most of the time these epic, fantastic tales have a much deeper purpose for
both the storyteller and the audience. While the stories aim to entertain, more importantly, the epic
tales exist to hand down crucial histories from generation to generation. This is important to the
culture in which the story takes place, and is a true observation for the story of Sundiata, the
founding of the MaliEmpire, and the descendants of these Mali people. While on the surface, the
story is a heroic tale of Sundiata s early life as he overcomes many obstacles, defeats mystical and
magical foes, and finally emerges triumphant, it is really a tale designed to teach the audience the
history of the Mali Empireand the values and culture of the Mali people. This is tremendously
important to the Mali people back when the story was first told and is still important to them today.
As a historical oral epic, the tale of Sundiata tells the reader the story of the creation of the Mali
Empire. The events of the tale take place during the early 13th century and detail the early, difficult
life of Sundiata up until his final victory over the evil Soros. After this victory, Sundiata

Reflection Paper On Figure Skating
The second my feet lifted off the soap caked floor, I felt different. The skin on my neck was
tingling, adrenaline was racing through my body, and my bones were engaged in a newfound
excitement. My mother was wrong. The bathroom floor is a fun place to go figure skating on soap

than a horse around the kitchen table in our socks was a common occurrence. We were perpetually
moving.
Thus, it should not have been a surprising event when one lazy Saturday morning, Emily and I

year with the energy of a small volcano, it was as boring as sitting and watching paint dry. It is my
Achilles heel to cause trouble when my mind is not stimulated, so I ventured off down the hall into

Nancy Mairs s Passage In The Passage Of Nancy Mair
In the passage, Nancy Mairs presents herself as an empowered, intelligent, and strong cripple. The
first line is I am a cripple which is pretty straightforward, and the matter of fact tone that it is stated
in stays pretty consistent throughout the entire passage. Mairs upfront attitude from the start
convinces the reader that she is unafraid to identify herself however she wants. Later she states that
she refuses to pretend that the only differences between you and me are the various ordinary ones
that distinguish any one person from another . She is realistic to a point that she occasionally seems
cynical, but deeper analysis of the text reveals that that is untrue. Throughout the entire passage,
Mairs establishes that she is extremely intelligent. She uses a colorful vocabulary (semantic,
euphemism, calamitous) and complex sentences. Mairs also makes reference to famous authors
and their work. Mairs says my God is not a
Handicapper General, which alludes to Harrison Bergeron, a short story by Kurt Vonnegut, as well
as a 10th century gospel piece in line 18. She establishes her intelligence in order to prove to the
reader that she is simply crippled and not disabled, which suggests any incapacity physical or
mental . It is clear that Mairs has no mental incapacity, and she makes this very clear
purposefully. Nancy chooses to use the word crippled because other words aren t as straightforward

Prayer In Public School Vs. Private Schools And Public...
Prayer in school is a controversial topic of today s time. There are different pros and cons when
it comes to bringing religion into schools. Varying from state to state the court s perspective has
played a major role in the decision of having prayer in schools, as well as the opinions of society.
Understanding that your personal opinion is not the same as everyone else s is important and
others may have different point of views. The controversial topics that give examples for each
position allows you to realize whether you agree or disagree. You could start out with a set
opinion about it, but after reading the different sides and stories it may change your mind. There is
a difference in public schools and private schools that practice prayerin school. If you sign your
child up for a private schooland the handbook states that they allow prayer in school, then you
cannot later go against it. Public schools, on the other hand work for the government so anything
they say goes. Private schools are allowed more freedom and less restriction on prayer in school.
The students in a private school pay tuition, which funds the school. Private schools are known as
independent schools, which means they are non governmental and not administered by local, state
or national government. Students are allowed more freedom of religionand allowed to express their
religious beliefs more openly(Prayer in School Pros and Cons List, NYLN).

Wallace, David Foster. Water . WEB: David Foster Wallace, May 21, 2005. David Foster
Wallace was an American novelist and professor of English and creative writing. In his speech
Water , Wallace uses his fish story as a form of imagery to reflect how naive society tends to react
to things that are right in front of their eyes. He also uses the traffic jams and people in the grocery
stores as imagery which seems to be his main strategy. Wallace points out how stress can lead up to
thinking that we are the center of attention, better known as our Natural default setting . After we
stop thinking that we are the main importance, that everything revolves around us and we are the
Absolute center of the universe, we can then notice and appreciate

C6H12O6 пѓ C3H4O3 пѓ C2H6O + CO2
Ethanol or as we know as alcohol in our beverages can be made from any fruit or vegetable that
performs photosynthesis which produces glucose shown As required as the reactant of the previous
equations.
Balanced chemical equation for Photosynthesis:
6CO2 + 6H2O пѓ C6H12O6 + 6O2 (light energy is used as a catalyst in this equation)
Balanced chemical equation for the fermentation of glucose to ethanol:
C6H12O6(aq) пѓ 2C2H5OH(l) + 2CO2(g) (yeast acts as a catalyst in this reaction.)
As the diagram on the right displays, one molecule of Glucose produces two molecules of carbon
dioxide and two molecules of ethanol. The fermentation of glucose to ethanol is only possible if
oxygen is absent otherwise instead of producing ethanol and carbon dioxide, lactic acid is produced
instead.
The first part of the breakdown of glucose is known as Glycolysis, in which one molecule of
glucose is broken down to two molecules of pyruvate (C3H4O3). The second part is the
fermentation process in which the two pyruvate molecules are converted to two molecules of
ethanol and two molecules of carbon dioxide.
PART B
i. Ethanol is considered as a alternative fuel at a lower cost level in relation to gasoline. It is
produced by fermenting sugars from a range of feedstock such as wheat and corn. Ethanol is
blended with gasoline from E10 (5% ethanol 95% gasoline) to E85 (85% ethanol 15% gasoline).

The Club Essay
When the club opens at eight, it s almost unrecognisable. Two large men dressed in black suits
guard the entrance, they seem friendly enough, but I m told they have a mean streak when
provoked. Two blonde twin girls sit in the kiosk, waiting to sell tickets and collect coats. A sea of
people, a variety of shapes and sizes, fill the once empty room to capacity.
Derrick, the angry barman, remains behind the bar accompanied by two companions; another man,
and a woman. Even though all three wear the same uniform, they re entirely different to one another.
The tiny built woman, with her already pale complexion, appears even paler under her mop of
black hair and black painted features. She seems friendly enough as she converses with others, ...

A kaleidoscope of butterflies invades my stomach the moment he turns his face towards me, our
noses touching. I gaze through my lashes, straight into the ocean pools, where I become lost to
the world as I allow myself become enthralled by Angelo s magic. He brushes his lips against my
ear, caressing the softness of my skin while his hot breath flows down my neck. Frankie will
introduce you soon. Are you going to sing that song for me again?
My heart flutters like a hummingbird in my chest, my breath becomes heavy, making me dizzy
almost. My eyes flutter closed as I lose myself in this moment with Angelo.
All too soon I hear my name being called, freeing me from captivity. I snap my eyes open to see
Frankie standing on the stage, holding his hand out towards me. I turn to face Angelo, who gazes at
me with sensual eyes. п»їThe hummingbird in my chest beats her wings harder, desperately
searching for a way out. I have to turn away quickly before I accept the invitation to fall into his
arms and kiss him in front of Alice.
The crowd parts, allowing me access towards the stage. As I did earlier, I hold onto the rail as I
ascend the four steps, my body quivers, my breath becomes ragged. My heartbeat continues to race,
but no longer because of Angelo s advances. Now, I have a crowd of strangers to entertain, a far
more terrifying prospect than earlier, only singing for Angelo.

Albert Einstein family ,Hermann and Pauline Einstein, were merchants who lived in germany.

Vera Lynn s Song The White Cliffs Of Dover
For all the world resembling Moses confronting a pair of rebellious Israelites, Bishop Brian
Taylor glowered at us from across his large old oak desk in his ninth floor office. He seemed
both perturbed and distrustful of our motives, and consequently, began our meeting by testing
Reverend Fran s resolve and subsequently probing her theology and methodology. When he
finally realized that her vernacular liturgy was from the Anglican Book of Alternative Services
(BAS) he relaxed somewhat. He seemed particularly interested in my idiomized setting of Psalm
148 to the tune of Vera Lynn s hit song The White Cliffs of Dover . Vera Lynn s music apparently
meant something special to him; still, his religious conditioning did not permit him to regard
Vera Lynn s 1940 s swing style of music as a musical idiom he or his contemporaries could relate
to in Anglican worship. His religious training was too strong to allow even a beloved musical
idiom to permeate the Anglican worship space on a regular basis.... Show more content on

Moreover, he was aware of, yet didn t want to face, the inevitable congregational backlash. He
therefore sidestepped our request to guarantee the reform process. Instead, he took a wait and see
attitude which left Reverend Fran alone to face any and all opposition, which placed her in a
quandary: if things turned sour, Parish Council controlled the worship space and the bishop

The Discovery Of Polymer And Plastic Demand
When many units of repeating molecules react together, monomers, the reaction will yield a
product in the form of a polymer (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). The discovery of polymers
began in 1920, with the belief of Hermann Staudinger, that there existed a molecule consisting of
many smaller repeating molecules, under the name macromolecule (Chemistryexplained.com,
2016). Nowadays, polymerand plasticdemand is even higher than that of copper, aluminium, and
even steel, due to their versatile applications in many different industries (Matse1.matse.illinois.edu,
2016). Polymer synthesis can be either synthetic or natural, and can produce many forms of
polymers, depending on the involved monomers, and the intended purpose for said polymers
(Essentialchemicalindustry.org, 2016). This process involves three main steps, initiation or
separating of the double bonds of the to be monomer, propagation or the joining of these monomers,
and termination, when the desired chain length has been reached (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016).
History is brimful with scientific discoveries both intentional, and completely accidental, however,
it can be seen that the majority of polymers were crafted due to societal demand, although the
method of actual synthesis initially may have been serendipitous. Two of the polymers scientifically
researched and synthesised due to demand of the times were synthetic rubber, and Bakelite
(Chemistryexplained.com, 2016).
Many polymers were researched and

A Brief Note On Barriers Faced By Women During...
3.1 Scope of the Chapter This chapter aims to critically analyse the contributions to the topic of
barriers faced by women in the construction industry with a view to evaluate the existing and
current theory, policy, and practice. Through the literature review, the major barriers to women in
construction such as the image of the industry, career knowledge, workplace culture and
environment and family commitments will be examined along with other possible barriers. The
relevant policies and best practice guideline promoting gender equality and offering better
opportunities for women in construction and the extent to which the policies meet the government
and the industry expectations will be reviewed and analysed. 3.2 The Status of Women in
Construction The predominant image of construction is that of a male dominated industry requiring
brute strength and a good tolerance for outdoor conditions, inclement weather and bad language
(Agapiou, 2002). It is interesting that people s perception of the industry is rooted in the past,
however, the real image of the construction industry is changing: robotic technologies are replacing
manual labour, corporate culture is promoting gender equality, and flexible working hours are
being introduced. The image problem occurs as schools and colleges do not always consider the
industry as a feasible career option and, moreover, the media does not portray the construction
industry positively; giving preference to programmes on

Analysis Of The Book Montana 1948 By Larry Watson
Entry one: In the beginning of Montana 1948 by Larry Watson, a vivid scene is set using
imagery. The first character we meet is the protagonist of the story, David Hayden. David is a
young boy, living in Mercer County, Montana. We are introduced to the boy s father and mother,
Wesley and Gail Hayden. Wesley is the town s sheriff who was handed down the position of the
sheriff from his father, although his true passion lies in being a lawyer. Lastly, we meet Marie
Little Soldier, the caretaker of David and housekeeper. She has recently fallen ill with pneumonia
and refuses to see a doctor, but Wesley ignores that and called his brother Frank, who is a doctor. In
the first chapter, David states There might still be someone in that small... Show more content on

Gail is a fantastic mother because when questioned, she does not completely shelter him, still
giving him some information. Later, The Hayden family goes to dinner at David s grandparents
house, where Gail is upset because Frank will be there. After a very awkward dinner, David
goes out to play with his favourite horse, Nutty. His grandfather also gives him a gun and lots of
ammunition to kill coyotes. He shoots at many things, but then aims for a bird and kills it,
afterwards he feels ...strangely calm, as if I had been in a state of high agitation but had now come
down, my pulse returned to normal, my breathing slowed, my vision cleared. I needed that, I
thought; I hadn t even known it but I needed to kill something, (Watson 72). He gets his anger out
on an innocent creature, almost like his uncle taking out his urges on the Native girls.
Entry #4 After shooting the magpie, David continues to ride until he sees his father and Uncle
Frank. David clenches the gun imaging that he was shooting Uncle Frank, showing his
animosity toward him. Later on David eavesdrops on his parents and learns that Frank claimed
he would stop doing what he is doing to the Natives. This answer does not satisfy Gail. The next
day Marie is found dead. When David hears of this he feels like if he had just never went home he
could just hold onto what he knew forever. The entire family was broken once again. We learn that

As travel and communication have become faster and easier, interaction between people of

Discuss family culture and its effect on patient education.
The role and definition of family can vary from one culture to another. Generally speaking, the
culture in the United States places a lot of emphasis on individuality and personal freedom. In
many cultures, the family unit has a very strict and defined hierarchy. Often the Father is seen as
the head of the household and is responsible for much of the decision making. This can include
decisions concerning the health care of a family member. It could also result in reluctance for the
head of the family to place himself in a position of relying on others for care, a perceived position
of weakness. In many cultures, the family goes beyond the nuclear family, and extends to the
community, friends and neighbors. These are strongly held beliefs, and we must refrain from
judging them as right or wrong based on our own culture. Rather, weneed to find ways to work
within the framework of the family structure of the patient. ( Falvo, pp.186 187)
List some approaches the health care professional can use to address religious and cultural diversity.
We must approach the patient and their family with an attitude of caring, empathy, and respect. We
can explain that we would be happy to learn of the patients needs and concerns, and of any
accommodations we can make so they will feel comfortable

Kangaroos Communication
Though there is no clear and exact form in which Kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) communicate,
studies have been done which prove that these Australian creatures do in fact have prominent and
reoccurring methods of communication which help them to convey messages to one another.
Whether it is by loud foot stomping or loud screeching noises, these species are definitely capable
of getting their point across.
Both male and female kangaroos usually communicate with each other by the means of clucking
noises (Joo). They usually make these sounds in shot and quick grunts of the same reoccurring
pitch of the same reoccurring tone. The mood and message in which a kangaroo is trying to

communicate. So, by us referring to them as kangaroos it is like we are saying to them I don t

Into The Wild Transcendentalism
On September 6, 1992, a group of moose hunters discovered the remains of Chris McCandless
body, which, through abject starvation, had withered and decayed in the unforgiving Alaskan bush.
Upon discovery, Chris corpse became a symbol of misguided passions and misinterpreted values
and inspired many to explore and document his story of demise. In Jon Krakauer s Into the Wild,
the story of Chris, attempting to achieve ultimate freedom and independence is told. On this
journey, it is evident that Chris McCandless shunning of society was unjustified because he took
the transcendentalist ideas expressed in Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Ralph Waldo Emerson
s
Self Reliance and radically misinterpreted them. Because of his analytical error, McCandless was
unable to attain freedom and independence, despite his support for these values; egotism overcame
individualism, and McCandless hubris and extreme risk taking resulted in foolish isolationism and
rendered his journey useless. One of the central tenets of transcendentalism is the aspiration of
freedom and the desire to pursue a life of individualism. This is described in Self Reliance, where
Ralph Waldo Emerson states ... that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide... (1). Both envy and
imitation are parts of collectivism, and as such, cannot be well integrated into the philosophy of
transcendentalism, which has a deep contempt for society. At first, McCandless seems to satisfy the
mandate of individualistic pursuit,

Toy Train Tracks
Introduction
Beginning in 1865, railroad tracks were mainly utilized for the luxury sleeping cars and transport
of goods and materials across long distances. As the purpose of train travel improved over the
century, so did the material used for train tracks. The main material used in tracks is steel, and this
is crack resistance to allow smooth and continuous travel during long journeys. Similarly, toy train
tracks are designed in a similar fashion, but composed of different material such as wood or plastic.
Plastic railroad tracks do not always possess the endurability to allow trains to function
continuously. However, toy train tracks are a fundamental building block in a person s childhood.

  • 2. The Collapse Of The European Union Essay In the wake of two devastating European wars, there was a vague desire across Europe for more unity to hopefully prevent yet another terrible conflict from breaking out. However, views over the proper scope and implementation of any such unity were often divided between the philosophies of supranationalism and intergovernmentalism. At different times, both ideas played a part in shaping the future European Union, depending on the moods of European leaders and their constituents. Throughout the history of postwar Europe, almost every major development toward supranational unity can be attributed to a handful of powerful people. In fact, the first official institution of postwar European cooperation, the ECSC, was founded by a few leaders of state. Robert Schuman, the French foreign minister, adopted Jean Monnet s idea of merging French and German coal and steel production as a peaceful and economically advantageous tool to prevent Germany from once again rising up against France and the rest of Europe. Once Schuman had the idea, all that was needed to officially found the ECSC was the Schuman Declaration and the consent of Germany s Chancellor Adenauer. Several years later, the next big step in European integration came from the work of ECSC president Jean Monnet, as well as Paul Henri Spaak, who both resolved to create stronger economic ties between the countries in the ECSC. The immediate result was the formation of EURATOM, a cooperation agreement on the subject of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Interview About A Former Florida Atlantic University... As I reflect on my life, I can t imagine my life without sports. Sports is my passion and the one thing that keeps me sane and happy. This assignment has showed me the love I have for sports and how it consumes my whole life. My whole life revolves around it. As I am sitting down writing this paper, I am listening to an interview about a former Florida Atlantic University football player who is now dealing with life after the NFL. His name is Christian Milstead, a 2015 Exercise Science and Health Promotion graduate. After the 2015 NFL draft, Milstead was invited to take part of the Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp. Unfortunately, he wasn t one of the 300 people who made it on a NFL roster. Milstead, however, life is going great. Of course, he would love to be playing on Sundays, but he is enjoying life as a Personal Trainer Director for one of LA Fitness locations in South Florida. I thought coming out of college I would working for a network or an organization as a sports reporter. Seven months later, I am still trying to adjust to life as a teacher. Every day I miss waking up every morning to go and report on FAU. I was a sports director for FAU s student media outlet OwlTV and I was more of a sideline reporter than a director. I enjoyed reporting about the football players trying to get to the next level which was the NFL or former NBA veteran Michael Curry attempting to bring success to the men s basketball program. After a long time of chaos, people decided they had enough of it so they asked for war. Eventually, after Serbia secret society Union or Death (called The Black Hand by its opponents) assassinated the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austriaand his wife Sophie, World War Ibegan. Meaning they are setting colonies everywhere around the globe and is ruling many parts of the world. A map that illustrates the colonial possessions was shown. Under the map, Colin Nicolson provided a chart of the size of colonial empire in 1913. In 1913, Britain was the biggest colonial empire. Its area was 33,000,000 sq. km. and has up to 400,000,000 of population. These numbers by far passes the second largest empire, France. In 1913, France s land area was 11,500,000 sq. km and has only 56,000,000. In this time period, France was one of the most powerful country. • 6. Hydrogen Atoms And Hydrogen Molecules Water is a molecule which is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Water can appear in forms like gasses (steam/water vapor from a kettle), liquids (drinking water or mineral water), and a solid form (ice is the only example of solidified water). The human body has more than a half of total water content. Water has specialised properties as the hydrogen (2 atoms) and oxygen(1 atom) connect to each other to make a water molecule. The hydrogen atoms join the top of the water molecule when the hydrogen atoms connect with oxygen. This structure means that the water has polarity. Polarity is an electric charge which has the power to get the attention of other atoms. The last part of the water molecule contains two hydrogen bonds which are positively charged however, the hydrogen bondwhich connects the oxygen to the hydrogen s is negatively charged that is why they have each other s attention as opposites attract. Water has a high specific heat capacity of 4181 J/Kg degrees which is higher than oxygen which has 918 J/Kg degrees. If water is clean then the pH will be 7.Water has a neutral pH in its uncontaminated form (pH 7).The intermolecular forces which are found in water are hydrogen bonding. Due to hydrogen bonding the boiling point of water is high because hydrogen bonding is very powerful. The hydrogen bonds are sticky this is what makes the hydrogen molecules join to the oxygen molecule. It is not as powerful as covalent bonds but it is more powerful ... • 7. What Is Josh Sounder Essay Josh Bailey was drafted with the 9th pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Crazy to think that this coming June, it will be 10 years since that moment. Looking back to that time, it wasn t exactly an ideally situation. The islanders had the 5th overall pick going into that draft. They would trade that to the leafs and swipe first round picks. The isles would move back to the 7th pick which was then moved to Nashville and they would end up picking Bailey with the 9th overall pick. 10 years after there are still a lot of people who just don t like having Bailey on the team. Last season, he was placed on a line with John Tavares and Andres Lee and that line worked wonders. With the addition of Jordan Eberle this season, that bumped Bailey off the top line. After about 7 games, coach Weight decided to put the line back together. Bailey, despite having a strong start to the season, didn t miss a beat rejoining his line mates from last season. Heroes impact other people s lives by contributing to a cause that makes a positive change in the world. To me, a hero is somebody who believes in a significant cause, dedicates his entire life to improving the cause, and changes the world for the better. Heroism today can be found all over the world and in all different forms. It could be as small as standing up for a victim of bullying, voicing your opinions for an important cause, or helping someone in a dangerous situation. • 11. Response To Nozick s Mental State Theory Of Wellbeig Hedonism is a form of wellbeing theory about what is best in our interest and what is good for us. According to hedonism, wellbeing relies solely on pleasure experienced. Although there are some hedonist theories that values extrinsic pleasure, in this essay we will be looking at hedonism that values pleasurefelt from inside, i.e., hedonismas a mental state theory of wellbeing. This theory has met quite a numbers of objections. We will focus on one such popular objection developed by Robert Nozick. Nozick challenged the mental state theories of wellbeing with his thought experiment about an experience machine. This objection is sought out as ultimate weapon to knockdown hedonism (Weijers 2010, pp. 1). There has been attempts made to defend hedonism from this objection. Few of these responses will be discussed to determine if they are able to successfully overcome Nozick s objection. But it is better to face the truth and pursue another interest that you are talented at, for it would give you more pleasure in long run. Deception ultimately result in pain. The World Of Osama Bin Laden Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Barack Obama If that did not give you chills, then I do not know what will. Knowing that Osama Bin Ladenis dead is one of America s biggest reliefs. I never thought that this day will come. I chose Osama Bin s speech to the nation about Osama Bin Laden being dead. In this paper, I am going to research and critically examine and evaluate by using the five classical canons of rhetoric. I will explain into detail Obama s speech dealing with the invention, organization, style, delivery, and memory. May 1, 2011 Barack Obama presented a speech to the American nation and the world that Osama Bin Laden was dead. Obama did this speech to inform the nation on the big news, but also to approve of his nation and other nations that helped find and were able to capture and have him killed. As he speaks to the nation, he stands next to an American flag. This suggests that he is proud of his nation and thankful for the country that he is president of. Obama did not only just state that Osama Bin Laden was dead; he brought the audience through a long journey on how they found Bin Laden. • 13. How Did Langston Hughes Contribute To The Harlem Renaissance The Harlem Renaissance stands as one of the greatest cultural, social and artistic movements in U.S. history. This time period consisted of a migration of black Americans from rural Southern states such as Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana to urban Harlem, New York. Originally called, the New Negro Movement meaning, many believed this brought a new black cultural identity to an almost all white culture. At this time, Langston Hughes, famous Harlem Renaissanceauthor, wrote many controversial pieces about slavery, he mentions that they send him to eat in the kitchen (Hughes 1) which describes how many slaves suffered in these days. For America, this movement helped redefine how America saw the African Americancommunity, and it helped set the stage for the Civil Rights Movement of 1950 1960. For Langston Hughes, his works reflected his love for jazz music but also told the story of what he saw and heard back in the 1920 s to the 1930 s, what most call, the Harlem Renaissance.... Essay On Financing Economic Development One way to reduce inequality among countries is financing economic development in low and middle income countries previously referred to as developing countries. Financing economic development in developing countries has always been of interest to me. Ending extreme poverty in countries by 2030 is a major goal of the World Bankand the United Nations. Ending poverty involves raising income and facilitating inclusive growth. However, the best candidate from the time was Titus Petronius (Arbiter). The story, looking especially from the scene Dinner with Trimalchio, is a satiric masterwork of the pragmatic and materialistic attitude of the time, soon to be replaced by Christianity. Dinner with Trimalchiotells a tale from the perspective of Encolpius, a vagabond student of the master Agamemnon, who is invited along as a pupil of Agamemnon to a banquet. Without the help and generosity of Fortunata, Trimalchio would, himself, be a second class citizen who struggles to pay for daily bread, like most of the poor lower class Romans.
Another way Petronius exemplifies his purpose of writing this story is showing the importance of education in ancient Rome during the time, and how the culture valued it so much. Before people had a rough idea what things were made up of, we all thought objects were made up of the four elements: water, earth, fire, and air. This thought was given to us by Aristotle, who was a popular philosopher and scientist in 322 B.C. Then one day, a man named Democritus proclaimed that every substance is made up of tiny, indivisible particles. The Greek said that these particles were called atomon , and they all varied in shape depending on their properties. But this idea was rejected by leading philosophers at the time, which was around 400 B.C. Flash forward to 1897, we have a British physicist by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The outcome of this experiment was that the particle went through, but went in different directions. This forced Rutherford to conclude that an atom was much more than just open space with scattered electrons, showing that Thomson s Plum Pudding Model to be inaccurate. Rutherford had also concluded that an atom must have a positively charged center that contained most of it s atomic mass. Rutherford was a major contribution to chemistry, discovering the nucleus and the proton. Rutherford s discovery helped other scientists by his discovery. When Rutherford proposed that an electron and a proton could combine together to make a neutral particle, it came to the question what else was in a nucleus addition to protons. On the political level in the United States, most leaders are elected directly or appointed to office by politicians, although they often come from very wealthy and privileged backgrounds and have their political careers financed by various special interests. Of course, much of the real leadership in the country is based on wealth and income, or control of large corporations, bureaucracies and financial institutions. Samoa has a matai or chief system that traditionally controlled the social, political and economic order. Those in the lower castes were expected to show respect and deference to their elders and hereditary rulers, rather than the more modern (post French Revolution) concept of equal citizenship for all. Chiefs controlled all exchanges and the distribution of wealth and land, which is also quite different from the capitalistic individualism that lies at the core of modern American culture, and naturally the U.S. colonizers attempted to undermine this traditional system. How did the traditional system of chiefly power reinforce the close knit social system of village life? This worldwide scale of sales, purchase and exchange of goods and services unsurprisingly makes it much more difficult to manage, as opposed to a smaller, domestic business. It is important for managers of the global marketplace to utilise the resources available, in order to effectively and efficiently deal business outside of country borders. Web 2.0 Technology in particular, is a fairly new but extremely successful and growing tool evident in the international marketplace. It refers to the World Wide Weband its use as a platform to gather intelligence across the globe (O Reilly, 2009). In order to manage the global marketplace, it is necessary to take into consideration the two main factors of globalisation. Globalisation is the progression of the economy through cultural, political and technological integration around the world (Wild Han, 2010). One of its major catalysts is falling barriers to trade, which is the decrease in international boundaries between countries, resulting in easier import and export transactions (Wild Han, 2010). Yet, these television shows and stories derive their inspiration from a genuine historical context so fascinating and pervasive that nearly 1,000 years later Western culture is still transfixed. French author ChrГ©tien de Troyes, who ironically penned the first romantic depiction of Sir Lancelot, wrote many of the tales that inspire modern pop culture. His stories, particularly that of CligГ©s written in 1176 AD, though filled with sometimes supernatural, amorous, and scintillating drama, can reveal the political and social undercurrent of the Middle Ages. Ultimately, the passionate characters and events presented in ChrГ©tien de Troyes CligГ©s transcend the romantic realm, manifesting as representations of medieval court and the rapidly evolving concepts of magic and science in the twelfth century. Filled with larger than life characters and amazing tales of heroism, on the surface these fables simply seem like mass entertainment much in the same way comic book heroes entertain us today on the silver screen. However, most of the time these epic, fantastic tales have a much deeper purpose for both the storyteller and the audience. While the stories aim to entertain, more importantly, the epic tales exist to hand down crucial histories from generation to generation. This is important to the culture in which the story takes place, and is a true observation for the story of Sundiata, the founding of the MaliEmpire, and the descendants of these Mali people. While on the surface, the story is a heroic tale of Sundiata s early life as he overcomes many obstacles, defeats mystical and magical foes, and finally emerges triumphant, it is really a tale designed to teach the audience the history of the Mali Empireand the values and culture of the Mali people. This is tremendously important to the Mali people back when the story was first told and is still important to them today. As a historical oral epic, the tale of Sundiata tells the reader the story of the creation of the Mali Empire. The events of the tale take place during the early 13th century and detail the early, difficult life of Sundiata up until his final victory over the evil Soros. After this victory, Sundiata ... • 37. Reflection Paper On Figure Skating The second my feet lifted off the soap caked floor, I felt different. The skin on my neck was tingling, adrenaline was racing through my body, and my bones were engaged in a newfound excitement. My mother was wrong. The bathroom floor is a fun place to go figure skating on soap suds. My sister, Emily, and I began our skating journey at Kent State University, where we had been enrolled in Learn To Skate classes for as long as we could remember. Spinning circles faster than a horse around the kitchen table in our socks was a common occurrence. We were perpetually moving. Thus, it should not have been a surprising event when one lazy Saturday morning, Emily and I were sitting around playing dolls as we waited for our parents to wake up. For a six and nine year with the energy of a small volcano, it was as boring as sitting and watching paint dry. It is my Achilles heel to cause trouble when my mind is not stimulated, so I ventured off down the hall into the bathroom to see if there would be anything interesting to do there. My sister grabbed my hand and pulled me into a somewhat tangled, clumsy dance that was supposed to represent the figure skating we did at Kent. We couldn t have looked much better than the Cleveland Brownsplaying football, but for us, we felt as if we would be going to the Olympics in figure skating within the next few weeks. However, spinning around in our socks eventually grew tiring, as well, so we looked for a way to make the bathroom floor truly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Nancy Mairs s Passage In The Passage Of Nancy Mair In the passage, Nancy Mairs presents herself as an empowered, intelligent, and strong cripple. The first line is I am a cripple which is pretty straightforward, and the matter of fact tone that it is stated in stays pretty consistent throughout the entire passage. Mairs upfront attitude from the start convinces the reader that she is unafraid to identify herself however she wants. Later she states that she refuses to pretend that the only differences between you and me are the various ordinary ones that distinguish any one person from another . She is realistic to a point that she occasionally seems cynical, but deeper analysis of the text reveals that that is untrue. Throughout the entire passage, Mairs establishes that she is extremely intelligent. She uses a colorful vocabulary (semantic, euphemism, calamitous) and complex sentences. Mairs also makes reference to famous authors and their work. Mairs says my God is not a Handicapper General, which alludes to Harrison Bergeron, a short story by Kurt Vonnegut, as well as a 10th century gospel piece in line 18. She establishes her intelligence in order to prove to the reader that she is simply crippled and not disabled, which suggests any incapacity physical or mental . It is clear that Mairs has no mental incapacity, and she makes this very clear purposefully. Nancy chooses to use the word crippled because other words aren t as straightforward and precise, and as a lover of words she likes the conciseness of the word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a difference in public schools and private schools that practice prayerin school. If you sign your child up for a private schooland the handbook states that they allow prayer in school, then you cannot later go against it. Public schools, on the other hand work for the government so anything they say goes. Private schools are allowed more freedom and less restriction on prayer in school. The students in a private school pay tuition, which funds the school. Private schools are known as independent schools, which means they are non governmental and not administered by local, state or national government. When he finally realized that her vernacular liturgy was from the Anglican Book of Alternative Services (BAS) he relaxed somewhat. He seemed particularly interested in my idiomized setting of Psalm 148 to the tune of Vera Lynn s hit song The White Cliffs of Dover . Vera Lynn s music apparently meant something special to him; still, his religious conditioning did not permit him to regard Vera Lynn s 1940 s swing style of music as a musical idiom he or his contemporaries could relate to in Anglican worship. • 46. The Discovery Of Polymer And Plastic Demand When many units of repeating molecules react together, monomers, the reaction will yield a product in the form of a polymer (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). The discovery of polymers began in 1920, with the belief of Hermann Staudinger, that there existed a molecule consisting of many smaller repeating molecules, under the name macromolecule (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). Nowadays, polymerand plasticdemand is even higher than that of copper, aluminium, and even steel, due to their versatile applications in many different industries (Matse1.matse.illinois.edu, 2016). Polymer synthesis can be either synthetic or natural, and can produce many forms of polymers, depending on the involved monomers, and the intended purpose for said polymers (Essentialchemicalindustry.org, 2016). This process involves three main steps, initiation or separating of the double bonds of the to be monomer, propagation or the joining of these monomers, and termination, when the desired chain length has been reached (Chemistryexplained.com, 2016). History is brimful with scientific discoveries both intentional, and completely accidental, however, it can be seen that the majority of polymers were crafted due to societal demand, although the method of actual synthesis initially may have been serendipitous. It is interesting that people s perception of the industry is rooted in the past, however, the real image of the construction industry is changing: robotic technologies are replacing manual labour, corporate culture is promoting gender equality, and flexible working hours are being introduced. Into The Wild Transcendentalism On September 6, 1992, a group of moose hunters discovered the remains of Chris McCandless body, which, through abject starvation, had withered and decayed in the unforgiving Alaskan bush. Upon discovery, Chris corpse became a symbol of misguided passions and misinterpreted values and inspired many to explore and document his story of demise. In Jon Krakauer s Into the Wild, the story of Chris, attempting to achieve ultimate freedom and independence is told. On this journey, it is evident that Chris McCandless shunning of society was unjustified because he took the transcendentalist ideas expressed in Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Ralph Waldo Emerson s Self Reliance and radically misinterpreted them. Because of his analytical error, McCandless was unable to attain freedom and independence, despite his support for these values; egotism overcame individualism, and McCandless hubris and extreme risk taking resulted in foolish isolationism and rendered his journey useless. One of the central tenets of transcendentalism is the aspiration of freedom and the desire to pursue a life of individualism. This is described in Self Reliance, where Ralph Waldo Emerson states ... that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide... (1).
