Vo2max Jump Rope Experiment
This study examined the effects of jump rope training on maximal oxygen uptake (referred to as
VO2Max). Previous studies show that jumping rope can also be used to develop the coordination of
neuromuscular skills, muscle strength, and cardiovascular endurance. It burns calories and builds
strength in the upper and lower body (Duzgun, 2010, pg. 184). The researcher hypothesized that these
benefits of jump rope training would result in an increased VO2Max. Before testing, a single
participant took a treadmill VO2Max pretest. The participant followed a jump rope training schedule
for six weeks. After training, the participant took a posttest. The pretest and posttest showed a
VO2Max increase of 1.1 ml/kg/min. These results indicate that jump ... Show more content on

The role of JR within training programs has been investigated to establish positive effects on
physiological parameters of cardiovascular and respiratory systems (2015, pg. 792). After six weeks of
jump rope training, the participant s VO2Max increased from 29.4 to 30.5 ml/kg/min. These results
prove the hypothesis that jump rope training has a positive effect on maximal oxygen uptake. The
following table and graphs show the average heart rate, RPE, and calories burned of each

The European Expansion and its Effects on the World Essay
The growth of commerce and industry led to the technological advances, which in turn stimulated, and
were stimulated by science. (p. 403) The European scientific revolution was fueled by the blending of
liberal and servile arts, in other words, science and technology. Because of the European expansion
taking place throughout the world, new commerce and industries were advancing, creating the need
for new technology and science. The theories and inventions that Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton
provided were the fist major advances during the scientific revolution, and perhaps were the most
profound.
The European expansion during the 15th and 16th centuries lead to major economic expansion
throughout Europe and the newly established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Improvements in communication and transportation became apparent in the nineteenth century due to
the expansion of the textile, mining and metallurgy industries. By the middle of the nineteenth century,
communication was transformed by the invention of the electronic telegraph and the transatlantic
cable, which Established instant communication between the old and new worlds. (p. 413)
Transportation was also transformed by canal and road building, as well as the introduction of
locomotives and steamboats.
The newly independent United States was the Pioneer in developing mass production techniques (p.
413), which revolutionized industry throughout the modern world. The assembly line, crafted by
Henry Ford, as well as advanced mechanical devices exemplified by the steel industry lead to mass
production of goods that was previously unfathomable.
The industrial revolution had several effects on Europe including: increased population, urbanization,
increased wealth, consumerism and new roles for women. Increased productivity in agriculture, as
well as advances in medical science, led to a population boom throughout Europe, and this, in part
lead to the urbanization European cities. The industrial revolution also affected social classes and
wealth. An overall improvement in wages and standards of living could be seen across economic
levels by second half of the nineteenth century. Perhaps one of the biggest transformations among
social classes were

The Contributions Of James Dewey Watson
James Dewey Watson was born on April 6, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the Horace Mann
Grammar School, South Shore High School. In the summer of 1943, he entered the experimental four
year college program at the University of Chicago. In 1947, he received a B.Sc. degree in zoology. He
subsequently earned a fellowship for a graduate study program at the University of Indiana in
Bloomington. At Indiana he was inspired by geneticists H.J. Muller and T.M. Sonneborn, and
microbiologist S.E. Lucia, under whom Watson completed his thesis regarding the effect of hard X
rays on bacteriophage multiplication. From 1950 to 1951 he traveled to Copenhagen as Merck Fellow
of the National Research Council during his first postdoctoral year. He worked with biochemist
Herman Kalckar and microbiologist Ole Maaløe shortly thereafter, and studied bacterial viruses to
analyze the structure of DNA. In the spring of 1951, he traveled with Kalckar to the Zoology Station
at Naples. there he met Maurice Wilkins and for the first time saw the X ray diffraction pattern of
crystalline DNA which prompted his to change the orientation of his research to the structural
chemistry of nucleic and proteins. In October of 1951 he began to work at the Cavendish Laboratory
in Cambridge where he soon met Francis Crick.
Francis Harry Compton Crick was born on June 8, 1916 in Northampton, England. He attended the
Northampton Grammar School and Mill Hill School. He received a B.Sc. degree in physics at

Explain The Major Processes That Occur During The Prenatal...
The five major processes that occur during the prenatal and postnatal periods of human development
Proliferation, Migration, Differentiation, Myelination and Synaptogensis. Each stage relies on the
properly assembly of neuronal connections to assure a fully functioning organism. Proliferation is the
initial stage, activated during unification period of sperm and egg. This is where new cells begin to
divide, first forming brain cells. These brain cell originate from stem cells, which can be specialized
into nearly any cell in the human body. Once the proliferation process is underway, which research
suggests is less than first after conception, the cells divide uncontrollably. At over two hundred
thousand cells per minute, they do not stop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stage is the differentiation period. Here, the cells are assigned unique characteristics of structural,
biochemical and physiological properties all before the birth. Even the glial cells now become
specialized and develop into astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. These cells are extremely important in
the next stage of myelination. Myelination is the stage of neuronal development that is initiated
postnatally. After the baby is born the newly specialized glia cells begin constructing the fatty sheath
around the axon, need for the speed and effectiveness of the neural transmission between all the
neurons in the brain. Oligodendrocytes are responsible for the myelin produced in the central nervous
system. It commences first around the spinal, ascending from the hindbrain structures to the forebrain.
This process continues gradually for decades, until the brain is fully developed. Synaptogenesis is the
final stage of neural development. Neurons in this stage must establish the necessary connections for
proper functioning. Connections made early, that are frequently called upon are likely to remain strong
the the reminder of a child s life while weaker connections die when they are not made or

Disadvantages Of War
When two people are angry and hurt each other, it is called a fight. When two countries are angry and
try to hurt each other, it is called war. War was fought when two countries are not ready to solve out
their problems by talking together. The Wars Often fought because one country wants some source or
all of the land that another country has. If it wants the land badly enough, it will fight to try to win it.
Sometimes when other countries see this problem, they might get into the war to protect the country
that wants to keep its land. This is how countries involved to protect each other. It is called forming an
alliance. When groups of countries, or alliances, fight, it is sometimes called a world war. War always
never a good thing because people were killed, some people get hurt, and it all costs a lot of money.
But sometimes wars have to be fought because they want to protect themselves, and they want to
protect others from the enemy who sometimes are in charge of countries.
The armed conflict of the world over is always perceived from the perspective of the person who
engaged in war. The impacts of these conflicts are most often measured in terms of the strategic and
economic losses. But the disadvantaged, which fight the most; the women, children and the aged
people, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Benefits Of The For Medicare Payment System ( Mips )
MIPS. It sounds like some kind of disease. And for many providers, it will likely cause as much pain.
Starting in 2017, physicians will have to deal with the Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).
MIPS is intended to measure the performance of Medicare Part B providers in four different
performance areas (30% by VBM measured resource use (claims data), 30% by VBM measured
quality (PQRS data), 25% by Meaningful Use (EHR data), and 15% by a newly introduced clinical
practice improvement measure). Providers will then be given a score between 0 and 100. These scores
will impact practices in a couple of different ways:
1) Negative scores will affect providers Medicare reimbursement
2) Scores will be made available to consumers online ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning next year, 2017, providers will begin to be scored by the new MIPS measurements and that
score will directly impact 2019 reimbursements. And, as we mentioned, on top of being financially
impacted by MIPS, providers are also looking at reputation ramifications of low MIPS scores, which
will be made public online. The sooner practices can ensure their performance in Meaningful Use,
PQRS, and the Value Based Modifier, the better prepared they ll be for 2019 MIPS implementation.
What Can You Do to Get Ready?
With a little over 6 months to prepare, there is much physicians can do to get themselves and their
practices ready for MIPS implementation and set themselves up for success.
Focus You Efforts
When you look at the percentages that will make up the MIPS scores, about 85% will go toward
PQRS, MU and VBM. In other words, while you may have secretly prayed at night for these incentive
programs to go away, they are not going anywhere. These are the areas you ve got to focus your
efforts on right now. Become a master at these and you ll be way ahead of the game in 2017.
Identify the Quality Measures That Will Most Affect You
You ll want to drill down to identify the clinical quality measures in these current programs that will
affect your scope of practice the most. Once you identify them, get as familiar as you can with them so
you can score well in your sleep!

Contrapasso Dantes Inferno
Begun in 1308 and completed in 1320, Dante Alighieri s Divine Comedy is widely known as a classic
piece of literature. Initially published in 1555, the Divine Comedy consists of an organizational
structure composed of three sections: Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise. This paper will examine the
first section, Inferno. Dante the Poet, the author, begins his poem by introducing the main character,
Dante. Written in the first person, the poem is narrated by none other than Dante the Pilgrim. Dante s
unexpected use of himself as the main character allows him to be extremely biased when assigning
historical figures to specific punishments, or contrapasso, in the depths of Hell. Although some may
say that Dante Alighieri s use of contrapasso throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Virgil explains to Dante that the purpose of two groups of sinners is because In their first life all you
see here ... could not judge ... when it came to spending ... the opposing guilts divide them into two.
Put into contemporary terms, the punishment in the Fourth Circle is comparable to a speed dating
activity in which every time a sinner passes a new partner, they scream Why Hoard or Why Waste
(Inferno 7, 30). Concealed within the text, Dante delineates that the sinners punishment is eternal,
which mirrors their sin. Furthermore, no side in the endless battle, Hoarders versus Wasters, will ever
win, which alludes to the fact that during their life, the sinners were not able to be successful because
of their flaw. Additionally, the Spendthrifts and Hoarders are also punished in the imaginative way of
being unrecognizable (Inferno 7, 51 54). Moreover, because they were only concentrating on their
own needs in life, they each only work towards their own respective weight even though every sinner
shares the same goal. Thus, their physical features are wiped so they are undistinguishable from each

Analysis Of Divergent As A Dystopian Film
Respond critically to significant connections across texts, supported by evidence.
Throughout all four of my dystopian films a strong theme that has been brought to the surface is the
idea of individuality is the enemy . As a dystopian film is an illusion of the perfect society, they go
hand in hand. The illusion of a perfect society is typically maintained through the use of corporate
bodies and entities. Dystopian films are typical to play on the worst case scenario of a situation, within
the four films studied Divergent, Macbeth, V for Vendetta and Mokingjay part 2, the worst case
scenario is seen when the government takes control and citizens are under constant supervision or fear
for their everyday lives. Within these dystopian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are all themes that relate to homicides, people are generally killed when they have more power
than someone else or they simply don t want to deal with the problem anymore. It is in this movie that
we see Tris and Four defeat the system, they firstly defeat the system through their manner, the fact
that they are able to confront their deepest fears and are able to see through the idea of a perfect
society. Divergent s also work out that you don t need to be paired with people that share the mutual
hate that you have towards another faction in this case. Tris and Four manipulate the system as they
can see that the government has split up everyone so that they don t unite and combine all of their skill
sets. This is why we see that the government purposely divides people to stop them from combining
their skill sets and becoming more powerful than the government. Showing how Tris and four are
feared to the government and displaying individuality is the enemy.
This relates to the homicide rate in Chicago in the current world as the year that Tris and Four
defeated the system the homicides in real life decreased. Showing that the homicide rate in Chicago
was used as a draw point to establish themes throughout the movie. Through the use of editing within
Divergent it is established that the relationships between the recruits and each other are

Amiri Baraka Soul Food
The argument of fact that Baraka was explaining is how black Americans have their own language and
their own characteristic food because a young Negro novelist mentions that there is a flaw with black
Americans. For example, the young novelist proclaimed that blacks neither have their own
characteristic food nor their own language and how many people do not know what soul food is. Also,
some slang terms have developed the names for soul food which creates the foods own uniqueness.

people thought how some of the food was made and prepared. Also, Baraka argument of fact

Vidal explains how it s the United States Governments fault because the crime spree would be
decreased. Vidal also believes that fighting against drugs is nearly as a big business as trying to stop
them because people always want what they can t have. By legalizing drugs will enable people easier
access to them but also, taking away the thrill of getting them. For example, giving people their wants
only makes the person lose less value of their excitement which has to do a big role in reverse
psychology. To confuse people of their wants and needs.
2. Vidal addresses my concerns because drug dealing and the mafia business will decrease rapidly and
there would not be as much crimes in the American society. Yes, Vidal does consider both sides of the
issue because he there is a combination of sin and money between the mafia and the American people.
Both of the combinations of sin and money are two most valuable things because are irresistible and it
has been repeated for many centuries. In addition, Vidal claims that forbidding people to do something
they hold in interest of will only cause the person to pursue their interest more.
3. The effect in Vidal last paragraph is that he tries to persuade the reader for a change because in time
things will only get worse if things don t change. The reasonable solution to America s drug problem
is unrealistic because people will pursue things they cannot

Navajo Art Essay
Navajo Art The Navajos were an Indian group that lived in the four corners region of the Untied
States. The Navajos were considered very good artists. Their art projects all held symbolism within
them. Whether it was religious, ceremonial, or just simply to help distinguish things, the Navajo art
had symbolic meanings left and right. Color was an important aspect to the Navajos art. For
example, the color blue had a few different meanings. It would represent the South and the Mid day
sun. Because in the south, the sky was almost always clear and blue. The colors Black, White, and
Yellow were also used to represent the remaining three directions. With Black representing the North,
White representing the East, and Yellow representing the West. A common Navajo art project was

Examples Of Chivalry
Examine the representation of the chivalric model of gender relations in the work of J. S. Mill and
John Ruskin
In the mid nineteenth century women s choices were severely limited; their lives were slightly better
than those of slaves. They were expected to obey men unquestionably. This essay will focus on Ruskin
s Sesame and Lilies and J. S. Mill s The Subjection of Women; paying particular attention to the
representation of chivalry in general and gender relations and equality in specific. The essay will
demonstrate Ruskin and Mill s contrasting positions, demonstrating that Ruskin presents chivalry
favorably as a positive concept. Mill, on the other hand, portrays chivalry as a backward concept,
believing that the concept still stands between the savageness and civilization, and is not something to

As an example, he shows that women were ill treated in the kingdoms of Asia, and states that Women
are not only practically ill treated, but theoretically despised; the whole honor of family is considered
to be bound up in its women. He also states that chivalry was developed as an ideology in the Middle
Ages in order initiate social progress, but there were argues that this was erroneous as such concept
stands between savage life and the civilized life. For Mill, treating women in a good way is the mark
of civilization. At first, this statement seems poorly considered as Mill does not define what he means
by good treatment. However, he eventually explains that it does not mean to idealize or worship
women; nor treat them as jewelry putting them in a safe place to protect them from dangers. In both
cases, women would be objectified and valued only their beauty. For Mill, this is not the right way to
appreciate women, which forms a large part of his definition of civilized , and this is the main reason
that he stands against

Theme Of Paganism In Beowulf
The longest epic poem ever written in the genre of Old English is Beowulf , it has been composed in
the native language as spoken during the Anglo Saxon reign in England, preceding the Norman
Conquest. Beowulf is regarded as a classic tale which relates the defeat of evil and triumph of good.
The poem is divided into three acts.
Christian and Pagan Influences in Beowulf: The Pagan deities, rituals as well as pagan ideas
influenced Beowulf, when it was being created, though the passing down of the epic narrative in
verbal form, the Christianity age would provide a residual effect to the story. The ideas mixed is not
signifying a struggle to attain religious power in the entire story, but the poem is blended with heroic

The poem consists of enough glimpses of the occasions of feasting, gift giving, and knot that ties the
Lord with the thanes in one mutual bondage. He even speaks of the hero vaunting before setting out
for the battlefield, and the scop singing praises of the past great victories which were the commonality
in the pagan Germanic society. Moreover, Beowulf reacts to the Hrothgar s grief when his most
beloved follower Aeschere dies, which provokes Beowulf to adhere to traditional to avenge the death,
is a perfect distinctive exposure to the pagan temper. Grendel s mother also lets out the same cry,
taking an oath to revenge the death of her Grendel s death is also another kind of wild justice. The
fierce combating scenes are all heathens, a trait of Paganism. The poetry seems a thorough non
Christian composition composed in the pre Christian time. For other subsequent Anglo Saxon heroic
poetry, Beowulf is an outstanding fountain head inspiration, including The Battle of Maldon.
Nevertheless, Beowulf rather strangely bears many religious and Christian traits. The Teutonic culture
had individual religious practices and ideals in the society. It is also an authentic record that has
recorded the Teutonic social life with the descriptions of the Teutonic ceremonies and customs. Such
customs and ceremonies are connected with the heathen practices and rites. The hero Beowulf, in the
end, receives a burial according to the heathenic culture, his body was cremated

How Does Upton Sinclair Use Socialism In The Jungle
Upton Sinclair published his novel, The Jungle, in 1906 using elements of naturalistic fiction, with the
idea that ordinary people cannot overcome the system, to convey his political agenda. He did this by
writing about a fictional family that comes to Chicago from Lithuania with the promise of guaranteed
work where they might earn three roubles a day and be rich m[en] in the bargain (Sinclair 24 25). He
used the meatpacking industry to show the extreme affects a large scale industry can have on an
individual and on a family and to draw sympathy from the reader for typical families in capitalist
America, choosing to focus on the immigrant experience. The Jungle, however, not only describes the

The Pros And Cons Of Minority Voting
Jacob Frazer
Louis DeSipio
Pol Sci 61A
20 November 2017
There are many difficulties minorities face when trying to take an active part in society, specifically
voting. Since the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed there have been many changes to the law to break
the barriers between the minorities and non Hispanic whites, but there are still factors that discourage
minority voters. Thesis: There are various factors widening the minority voting gap including voter
identification, early voter registration requirements, and strict voting procedures. Some internal factors
also include family voter participation and voting education.
The first factor that leads to the widening of the minority gap is the requirement of voter
identification. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best way to fix this problem is to stop requiring photo ID at the polling booths which would allow
anyone to go vote. There are ways to identify voter fraud instead of requiring a photo ID.
Another major factor that hinders minority voters is early voter registration requirements. This means
that if a voter wasn t registered to vote weeks or even months before an election, so if one were to go
to vote and haven t registered, they would be turned away. Minorities are less likely to be registered
and are unable to participate in elections if they develop interest in the weeks immediately before the
election. People who move regularly (which disproportionately includes young adults and people who
rent rather than own their own homes) are also more likely to fall out of registration by failing to
reregister at their new address. (Shaw et. al. 2015: 281) By requiring registration weeks in advance,
many voters won t be able to vote and have their voices heard. Another way institutions suppress
minority voters is by maintaining the voter registration lists and purging nonparticipating voters. There
is little to no regulation on how long it takes to be purged from the list, so those who voted only every
four years only during the presidential election the list could have been purged the third year without
voting, which would take them off the list and they would have to

This research article was published in the journal of Alzheimer s disease and Parkinsonism on August

Alzheimer s Research Disease Center, department of Psychology, Bioengineering program department

of this study is to investigate white matter differences to give better understanding of
neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer s disease and Parkinson s disease. It asks specifically
whether individuals with Parkinson s disease dementia will show significant white matter
deterioration when compared to healthy non demented control individuals. The hypothesis of this
study states that cognitive decline and impaired motor control in Parkinson s disease dementia (PDD)
will greatly show deterioration in white matter as compared to groups of healthy individuals control
group (CON), Alzheimer s disease group, and Parkinson s disease group (Perea et al. 2013). It was
known before through many scientific studies that white matter differences are actually associated
with neurodegenerative diseases. Researches few decades ago studied white matter differences using

neural tissue and the integrity of white matter fibers (Perea et al. 2013). One example was mentioned

Diphtheria is a highly contagious disease that causes inflammation in airway passages. Diphtheria also
has a connection with the infection pertussis, also known as whooping cough. Diphtheria dates back to
the early 1700 s, and was known for being a plague among children. Not until 1826, was diphtheria
given it s name. In 1885, the idea for intubation was finally brought up by a physician by the name of
Joseph O Dwyer. Many years later, a man by the name of Emil von Behring, stated that a mixture of
both the diphtheria toxin and antitoxin produced an immunization. In 2009, it was declared that since

In regard to the reading Ideological Perspectives on Canada by Patricia Marchak we discuss three
ideologies such as the dominant ideology, counter ideology, and ideology in basic terms. Exploring the
various aspects which these ideologies impact individuals and society an importance arises which
explains why these beliefs are important to all. With ideology being of great importance we should
study how it impacts children, large populations, and social norms. Fist, it is important to study
ideology for the benefit of our future generation, children. Parents can enforce or inexplicitly teach
their own beliefs to their children whether it is right or wrong. Explanations of how money, jobs,
gender, education, and other important topics are ideologically taught to children through a sense of
bias. It is not meant at times by the parent but enforcing that working a high paying job is only
acceptable, or an uneducated person is unintelligent when there are many versions of knowledge apart
from university to be learned. The reason I state that we should study ideology is because everyone
has different views to which is taught to the younger generation who will pass on what they have
learned in the future. It is what ideology is learned today is how other individuals will act ... Show

Without the in depth analysis of ideologies, we would not understand or learn why large populations
follow negative or positive beliefs. For example, the Nazis was a large followed belief by many
Germans in the 1930 s. The ideology of exterminating any enemies such as Jews, homosexuals, and
gypsies became a widespread norm for Germans or others to take part in. In my opinion I find that
some ideologies occur through fear, deprivation of food, money, or the downfall of a state. With large
populations suffering together any solution good or bad will become a common fixture to help
everyone even if it means the damage of

The Immigration Act of 1917
An immigrant in terms mean a subject of legal and political subject far from gaining the citizenship
and rights. The influx of exclusive classes constituting immigrants admission into the nations was a
biggest concern with the idea that the national body should be protected from contaminants of social
degeneracy. The idea of deportation played central role in immigration policy. According to the critics,
deportation is unjust in the case of separating families. Ironically appeal to prevent family separation
was effective in the areas with numerous European immigrants were found. I agree with that statement
because intruding into peaceful family privacy is doing wrong. Giving the option to free migration is
important in furthering the process of capitalist industrialization of America. This pattern of this trend
is still persist in modern day immigration. In year of 1925, under authorization of Congress, Border
Patrol took action on arresting aliens without warrant. In my point of view they don t even have no
statutory authority to proceed that. At the same time the illegal entry was in effect, a quota law which
is the restrictive immigration policy, started producing more and more illegal aliens. I prove this
wrong because putting limits based on racial type, nationality of world s population in order of
desirability is unfair way of determining which immigrants is qualified for entry into U.S. This law
tells a lot that it s very racist in that their intention of wanting

Understanding Vs. Knowing in Atwood’s Oryx and Crake Essay
It is often simpler to settle for an understanding of the world and people around us instead of trying to
know the truth. Truth has consequences; by knowing too much, one can lose a friend, learn a deadly
secret, or become someone they do not want to be. To express his understanding of himself and the
world around him, Crake in Oryx and Crake uses quote bearing fridge magnets. One very important
quote is We understand more than we know . It is important to recognize the difference between the
terms understand and know ; the Oxford English Dictionary defines to understand as to perceive the
significance, explanation, or cause of, whereas to know is to be absolutely certain or sure about
something. There is certainly a difference, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are many characteristics that remain uncontrolled in the Crakers, and these people
eventually begin to create art and place both Oryx and Crake in God like positions in their society:
two things against which Crake had warned. Crake s understanding of biology and psychology leads
the Crakers to initially have none of humanity s flaws. This shows Crake s grand understanding of
biology, but not any knowledge of how these people will soon acquire notions of art, gods, or
symbolism. He has done few trials, and consequently has little evidence to prove that the Children of
Crake will be successful.
Furthermore, Crake is able to understand Jimmy s incredible attraction to Oryx from the first time they
glimpse her on the HottTotts website. He saves her image, possibly with the intentions of one day
finding this girl to use against Jimmy. What Crake understands is Jimmy s love for Oryx, but what he
doesn t know is that Jimmy will choose in the end to not let him and Oryx re enter the Paradice Dome.
Jimmy accepts that for complete renewal of the human race, not only Crake, but Oryx as well, must
die, for both have sinned against the potential goodness of humanity and she is a hinge in Crake s
attempt to re enter Paradice (DiMarco 191). Whereas Jimmy had been known to Crake to be one to be
fearful and easily controlled, this time he takes a powerful stance against Crake s plan and proves that

America s Postwar Role
During the war, many visions of America s postwar role began to emerge. One of the key roles that
began to emerge was the idea of equality for all. Americans established that Americanism rested on
toleration of diversity and equality for all, while the enemy s philosophy was racism. So, by the end of
the war the new immigrant groups had been fully accepted as loyal ethnic Americans, rather than
distinct and inferior races. Another idea of America s postwar role, was brought to light in 1944 when
the president called for an Economic Bill of Rights. Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed to expand the
government s power in order to secure full employment, an adequate income, medical care, and a
decent home for all Americans. Already ill and preoccupied

The Unemployment Rate Within The City Of Newark
The unemployment rate within the City of Newark has been moving in the opposite direction when
compared to the national rate. The country as a whole, continues to see a decline in unemployment
while Newark numbers have started to climb. A number of variables are key players in contributing to
the employment struggles the city faces, including voluntary unemployment, lack of
skills/training/education, and acts of crime or criminal history affecting a person s employment
eligibility. As disheartening as it may be, the issue is one that isn t being ignored. On the state, city,
and community level, there are several programs and services to help combat the rising unemployment
level affecting the City of Newark. One could hope, with the dedication and support of the
government and citizens alike, that Newark will soon follow the same trend as the rest of the country
at combating unemployment. To solve the unemployment issue in Newark, government takes actions.
Department of Labor and Workforce Development provides unemployment insurance. People who are
unemployed can claim weekly benefits by filing the forms online. What s more, N.J. is first to qualify
for federal funds for unemployment. New Jersey received nearly $207 million in federal stimulus
money to pay unemployment claims in 2009 (The Associated Press). The loan is free of interest
through 2010. It also has programs called job Seekers and Career Development. The first one is to

Guantanamo Bay is a US military prison that s located within Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in

Guantanamo Bay as a prison, began in November 1991. This base has served has a safe haven for
hundreds of detainees, as well as Al Qaeda terrorists. Closing Guantanamo would be a disheartening
decision for the US in the eyes of the Military Armed Forces.
While still under the George H.W. Bush era, and under the control of President Jean Bertrand Aristide,
Guantanamo Bay housed HIV infected refugees and their family members. A federal judge closed the

Reasons For Choosing Dw Sports
My reason for choosing DW Sports is due to that fact that it is an award winning Health club and
Retail business across the whole of the UK Northern Ireland. DW Sports also offers a variety of high
class products and they are also in conjunction with top brands like Adidas, Nike, Asics, New Balance,
Under Armour, Canterbury and many more. DW Sports is serious about becoming the UK s number 1
go to retailer for online sporting goods.
My reason for selecting JD Sports is due to the fact that JD Sport has long been established as the
leading UK specialised multiple retailer of fashionable branded and own brand sports and casual wear.
The group now has over 400 stores and is continuing to grow. Therefore I feel like both websites
would be good to evaluate and in return get ideas of ways to make my website a success when
creating it.
I will start off by evaluating my first company website which is DW Sports. Firstly I am going to talk
about the colour scheme DW Sports have used. The overall colour scheme of the website is red, white
and black and these are the colours which are present within the company logo. I personally feel like
this was intentional to make their website and their products easily identifiable as their own. I feel like
the black background was a good idea as the red compliments it and the writing is white and quite
large therefore it stands out and it is clear to read.
The overall layout of the whole website I feel is simple while professional looking.

Analysis Of Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie
Murphy Glenn Elizabeth Cochrane English 102 10/24/2017 Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie Tom
Wingfield is the narrator and dominant character in Tennessee Williams timeless play, The Glass
Menagerie. Through the eyes of Tom, the viewer gets a glimpse into the life of his family as well as
into the depressed era that they live in. His mother is a southern belle who desperately tries to hold
onto her past and her position within a society bygone; his sister who is tentative and cripplingly shy
lacks the social skillset to function openly in society; Tom himself is a young writer and poet who is
continually distraught over his life, which to him lacks adventure and substance. Williams has
managed to write a magnificent play which incorporates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Care must be taken in talking to and associating with her as not to disturb her farouche nature, similar
to the care taken in handling the glass figures without breaking them. Laura, terribly shy and diffident,
enjoys staying at home or walking the city by her lonesome. However, at home, her mother, Amanda,
pressures her to advance in her typewriting studies and hopes for a gentleman caller to save her from
her domestic existence. Her mother even goes so far as to say, I know so well what becomes of
unmarried woman who aren t prepared to occupy a position. I ve seen such pitiful cases in the South
barely tolerated spinsters living upon the grudging patronage of sister s husband or brother s wife!
stuck away in some little mousetrap of a room encouraged by one in law to visit another little birdlike
women without any nest eating the crust of humility all their life! (Williams 1729) This statement
shows Amanda s feeling that Laura is only a burden of her dues to her timorous personality. Her
mother not only denies Laura s introverted demeanor but seeks to shape Laura into somebody she is
not. With her mother refusing to forget her long gone southern past, Laura s condition may only
worsen. This constant wish by her mother for Laura to become somebody she is not constantly
reinforces the notion that she is not like everybody else. In this sense, the collection of all the glass

Stereotypes In Of Coming Of John
The next race to come across some major stereotypes are the African Americans. Although every race
has the ordeal that it had to go through one of the worse challenges that were thought of were given to
the African Americans which made life horrible for them in the past, still in the present, and more than
likely in the future as well. In the short story Of Coming of John, by W.E.B. DuBois It was perceived
that when it comes to education matters the African American community is not very upcoming while
the caucasian community is always very pleased and supportive of everything that someone of their
race does. In the short story when the black John had decided that he wanted to go off to school no
one was in support of him but against the fact of him going away while when the white John had told
everyone that he wanted to go off for school everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even more evidence of the racial stereotypes that is given to African American people is evident in
Native Son, when it was stated that all black men want to do is go out and rape white women, (Wright
page 351 ). This places a stereotype upon us that is ultimately hard to escape from, with people
running from you without even taking the chance to get to know you and you having to prove yourself
to them from a distance, even though deep down you know you will never be good enough to please
them. While most forms of racial stereotypes follow in the fashion of others judging you because of
the rumors they hear, it also comes in the form of them using very invective language towards you. As
seen by Richard Wright on page 337, all of the white people were calling Bigger racial names and
racial slurs in an attempt to try and dehumanize him from all other humans so that way they feel better
for the horrible way that they were treating

Analysis Of The Joins By Chana Bloch
The poem that I selected for this essay is The Joins by Chana Bloch. The overall meaning of this poem
is that relationships are not always trouble free and can be broken easily, however the relationship can
be put back together again, but the cracks will remain apparent. Although, the cracks in the
relationship can turn out to be an exquisite and can make the relationship stronger than it was before.
Speaker in the poem seems to be a woman who is in a relationship. The speaker s attitude does seem
to change throughout the course of the poem. In the first stanza of the poem, the speaker seems to be
hopeful by saying that relationships should be flexible. In the next three stanzas of the poem, the
speaker seems to be sad at the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the damage is already done and will still bear the scars no matter how hard they try to fix it.
Imagery is significant in this poem, because it helps to emphasize key points in this poems such as the
cracked clay and the art of kintsugi. Also, it helps show the emotional rollercoaster that come with
being in a relationship. A relationship is not just sunshine and lollipops all of the the time. There are
going to be hardships and rough patches and no matter how hard it get, the relationship will get better
in time.
Stanza Form is related to the meaning of this poem, because the stanza form helps the reader to follow
what is happening step by step and helps with the setting the tone for the poem.
This poem is an example of a tercet stanza, which is when each stanza has three lines. By each of the
stanzas being three lines it always the reader to imagine each of the images that the author has created
in each of the stanzas. The poem starts with the relationship being strong at first (flexible), then to the
starting to have crack (being like clay), finally to the cracks in the relationship being conceived as
beautiful and making the relationship stronger, because they didn t give up on the relationship. This is
significant to the meaning of the poem, because it show the various steps in a relationship.
Tone is related to the meaning of this poem, because the tone helps to show the different emotions
attached to each stanza,

Who Is The Antagonist In Frankenstein
After reading the two novels Frankenstein and The Sorrows of Young Werther, I realized that both

he has escaped because he wanted to avoid the problems that he was facing. One of them was with
Leonora the girl he was dating. It seems that she really was in love with Werther, but he ended up

Rabbit Proof Fence Essay
Rabbit Proof Fence Summary: An overview of the ways in which the film Rabbit Proof Fence conveys
the importance of home, family, and country to indigenous peoples. The film Rabbit Proof Fence
conveys the importance of home and country to indigenous peoples. The director Phillip Noyce refers
to home in different ways. He has symbolised home by repeatedly showing images of the Spirit Bird
and the Rabbit Proof Fence, since it is a connection to their home. The movie shows Molly s
determination to get home and back to her family by escaping from Moore River and finding her way
back home to her country, Jigalong. At the beginning of the film, it is shown how Molly s family hunt
for food and use their bush skills in their culture, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this film, it also shows how important their loved ones are to them. Like when the three girls get
taken away, they used their hands to bang against the window, showing their sadness of separation,
and their connection of their love and wanting to be close with their family at every time possible,
because every time they were together was a moment each treasured. Their grandmother felt the pain
they were feeling, of desperation, frustration and powerlessness, and that is shown to us when she hits
herself with a rock on her head to make her bleed. Also the howling sounds she makes shows the pain
she feels and makes us feel her pain, too. Home shows the familiarities that no other place shows. In
your own country or home, you live by your own rules. Molly, Gracie and Daisy were happier when
they got home, since it was somewhere where they were loved, and since it was a place that gave them
a sense of safety, knowing they were home with the people they loved and a place they were familiar
with. Getting home was like an emotional reunion for the girls, touching and crying and at the same
time Molly s distress because Gracie was taken away. I lost one. My views on this heart moving film
would be never to give up in life, and with the right amount of determination you can succeed
anything. The film tells us the simple, but moving story with a skilled storyteller s voice. The great
importance of their

Examples Of Internal Conflict In The Tell Tale Heart
The Tell Tale Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
In the story The Tell Tale Heart Is a story about an unnamed narrator who attempts to convince the
readers of his sanity, while describing a murder he committed. The victim was an old man with a filmy
vulture eye , as the narrator calls it. In the story the author uses external and internal conflict. The
external conflict is the old man. An example is when the old man remains seemingly unaware of the
narrator s evil plot and plans to murder him, and the narrator sneaks into his room each night to watch
him. The internal conflict in this story is Extremely unreliable, when the narrator reveals himself to be
mentally unstable early on in the story. An example is when the narrator says in the story You fancy

  • 2. Vo2max Jump Rope Experiment This study examined the effects of jump rope training on maximal oxygen uptake (referred to as VO2Max). Previous studies show that jumping rope can also be used to develop the coordination of neuromuscular skills, muscle strength, and cardiovascular endurance. It burns calories and builds strength in the upper and lower body (Duzgun, 2010, pg. 184). The researcher hypothesized that these benefits of jump rope training would result in an increased VO2Max. Before testing, a single participant took a treadmill VO2Max pretest. The participant followed a jump rope training schedule for six weeks. After training, the participant took a posttest. The pretest and posttest showed a VO2Max increase of 1.1 ml/kg/min. These results indicate that jump ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (p. 403) The European scientific revolution was fueled by the blending of liberal and servile arts, in other words, science and technology. Because of the European expansion taking place throughout the world, new commerce and industries were advancing, creating the need for new technology and science. The theories and inventions that Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton provided were the fist major advances during the scientific revolution, and perhaps were the most profound. From 1950 to 1951 he traveled to Copenhagen as Merck Fellow of the National Research Council during his first postdoctoral year. He worked with biochemist Herman Kalckar and microbiologist Ole Maaløe shortly thereafter, and studied bacterial viruses to analyze the structure of DNA. In the spring of 1951, he traveled with Kalckar to the Zoology Station at Naples. there he met Maurice Wilkins and for the first time saw the X ray diffraction pattern of crystalline DNA which prompted his to change the orientation of his research to the structural chemistry of nucleic and proteins. • 5. Explain The Major Processes That Occur During The Prenatal... The five major processes that occur during the prenatal and postnatal periods of human development Proliferation, Migration, Differentiation, Myelination and Synaptogensis. Each stage relies on the properly assembly of neuronal connections to assure a fully functioning organism. Proliferation is the initial stage, activated during unification period of sperm and egg. This is where new cells begin to divide, first forming brain cells. These brain cell originate from stem cells, which can be specialized into nearly any cell in the human body. Once the proliferation process is underway, which research suggests is less than first after conception, the cells divide uncontrollably. Here, the cells are assigned unique characteristics of structural, biochemical and physiological properties all before the birth. Even the glial cells now become specialized and develop into astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. These cells are extremely important in the next stage of myelination. Myelination is the stage of neuronal development that is initiated postnatally. After the baby is born the newly specialized glia cells begin constructing the fatty sheath around the axon, need for the speed and effectiveness of the neural transmission between all the neurons in the brain. Oligodendrocytes are responsible for the myelin produced in the central nervous system. It commences first around the spinal, ascending from the hindbrain structures to the forebrain. This process continues gradually for decades, until the brain is fully developed. Synaptogenesis is the final stage of neural development. Neurons in this stage must establish the necessary connections for proper functioning. War was fought when two countries are not ready to solve out their problems by talking together. The Wars Often fought because one country wants some source or all of the land that another country has. If it wants the land badly enough, it will fight to try to win it. Starting in 2017, physicians will have to deal with the Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). MIPS is intended to measure the performance of Medicare Part B providers in four different performance areas (30% by VBM measured resource use (claims data), 30% by VBM measured quality (PQRS data), 25% by Meaningful Use (EHR data), and 15% by a newly introduced clinical practice improvement measure). • 8. Contrapasso Dantes Inferno Begun in 1308 and completed in 1320, Dante Alighieri s Divine Comedy is widely known as a classic piece of literature. Initially published in 1555, the Divine Comedy consists of an organizational structure composed of three sections: Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise. This paper will examine the first section, Inferno. Dante the Poet, the author, begins his poem by introducing the main character, Dante. Written in the first person, the poem is narrated by none other than Dante the Pilgrim. Dante s unexpected use of himself as the main character allows him to be extremely biased when assigning historical figures to specific punishments, or contrapasso, in the depths of Hell. Virgil explains to Dante that the purpose of two groups of sinners is because In their first life all you see here ... could not judge ... when it came to spending ... the opposing guilts divide them into two. Put into contemporary terms, the punishment in the Fourth Circle is comparable to a speed dating activity in which every time a sinner passes a new partner, they scream Why Hoard or Why Waste (Inferno 7, 30). Concealed within the text, Dante delineates that the sinners punishment is eternal, which mirrors their sin. Furthermore, no side in the endless battle, Hoarders versus Wasters, will ever win, which alludes to the fact that during their life, the sinners were not able to be successful because of their flaw. Additionally, the Spendthrifts and Hoarders are also punished in the imaginative way of being unrecognizable (Inferno 7, 51 54). Moreover, because they were only concentrating on their own needs in life, they each only work towards their own respective weight even though every sinner shares the same goal. Throughout all four of my dystopian films a strong theme that has been brought to the surface is the idea of individuality is the enemy . As a dystopian film is an illusion of the perfect society, they go hand in hand. The illusion of a perfect society is typically maintained through the use of corporate bodies and entities. Dystopian films are typical to play on the worst case scenario of a situation, within the four films studied Divergent, Macbeth, V for Vendetta and Mokingjay part 2, the worst case scenario is seen when the government takes control and citizens are under constant supervision or fear for their everyday lives. Divergent s also work out that you don t need to be paired with people that share the mutual hate that you have towards another faction in this case. Tris and Four manipulate the system as they can see that the government has split up everyone so that they don t unite and combine all of their skill sets. This is why we see that the government purposely divides people to stop them from combining their skill sets and becoming more powerful than the government. Showing how Tris and four are feared to the government and displaying individuality is the enemy. This relates to the homicide rate in Chicago in the current world as the year that Tris and Four defeated the system the homicides in real life decreased. For example, the young novelist proclaimed that blacks neither have their own characteristic food nor their own language and how many people do not know what soul food is. Also, some slang terms have developed the names for soul food which creates the foods own uniqueness. 1. For example, giving people their wants only makes the person lose less value of their excitement which has to do a big role in reverse psychology. To confuse people of their wants and needs. 2. Vidal addresses my concerns because drug dealing and the mafia business will decrease rapidly and there would not be as much crimes in the American society. Yes, Vidal does consider both sides of the issue because he there is a combination of sin and money between the mafia and the American people. Both of the combinations of sin and money are two most valuable things because are irresistible and it has been repeated for many centuries. In addition, Vidal claims that forbidding people to do something they hold in interest of will only cause the person to pursue their interest more. 3. Since the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed there have been many changes to the law to break the barriers between the minorities and non Hispanic whites, but there are still factors that discourage minority voters. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The best way to fix this problem is to stop requiring photo ID at the polling booths which would allow anyone to go vote. There are ways to identify voter fraud instead of requiring a photo ID. Another major factor that hinders minority voters is early voter registration requirements. This means that if a voter wasn t registered to vote weeks or even months before an election, so if one were to go to vote and haven t registered, they would be turned away. Minorities are less likely to be registered and are unable to participate in elections if they develop interest in the weeks immediately before the election. People who move regularly (which disproportionately includes young adults and people who rent rather than own their own homes) are also more likely to fall out of registration by failing to reregister at their new address. (Shaw et. al. 2015: 281) By requiring registration weeks in advance, many voters won t be able to vote and have their voices heard. Another way institutions suppress minority voters is by maintaining the voter registration lists and purging nonparticipating voters. There is little to no regulation on how long it takes to be purged from the list, so those who voted only every four years only during the presidential election the list could have been purged the third year without voting, which would take them off the list and they would have to ... In regard to the reading Ideological Perspectives on Canada by Patricia Marchak we discuss three ideologies such as the dominant ideology, counter ideology, and ideology in basic terms. Exploring the various aspects which these ideologies impact individuals and society an importance arises which explains why these beliefs are important to all. With ideology being of great importance we should study how it impacts children, large populations, and social norms. Fist, it is important to study ideology for the benefit of our future generation, children. Parents can enforce or inexplicitly teach their own beliefs to their children whether it is right or wrong. Explanations of how money, jobs, gender, education, and other important topics are ideologically taught to children through a sense of bias. It is not meant at times by the parent but enforcing that working a high paying job is only acceptable, or an uneducated person is unintelligent when there are many versions of knowledge apart from university to be learned. Ironically appeal to prevent family separation was effective in the areas with numerous European immigrants were found. I agree with that statement because intruding into peaceful family privacy is doing wrong. Giving the option to free migration is important in furthering the process of capitalist industrialization of America. This pattern of this trend is still persist in modern day immigration. My views on this heart moving film would be never to give up in life, and with the right amount of determination you can succeed anything.
