To What Extent Should Major League Baseball Games Be...
Should major league baseball games be shorter or longer? In my opinion they should become
shorter like 7 innings instead of 9. The average postseason game of 2016 was 3 в…• hours that
is way too long in game 2 of the world series it lasted 4 hours and 4 minutes without going into
extra innings. Rob Manfred the owner of the MLB is aware of the trend of long games, he knows
baseballs pace of game.
The MLB should make games shorter by making a rule where managers can make pitching changes
only 2 times an inning. Major league baseball is losing fans because the game has way too many
breaks if baseball was non stop action like soccer or tennis the league would keep more fans. In
2015 the average major league baseball game was 2 hours 56 minutes

In recent years, airlines build a closer relationship, especially European airlines and Chinese
airlines. Europe is the headstream of airplane, but compared to North America, European aviation is
a little bit weak on the ridership. In late 1990s and early 2000s, Europe had more interactions with
American aviation. In recent years, Europe set China as a new partner. European aviation is trying
to expand its international market through increasing new cooperation.
In recent years, the relationship between Chinese and European Aviation is getting closer. The
strongest evidence is that Chinese government and European Union have signed a 5 year work
agreement for reducing the economic burden in aviation industry, preserving aviation safety and
environmental compatibility. European Union and China emphasized the importance of this
project by preparing over 10 million euro as its budget. The detailed work plan was reviewed and
updated in September 2016. This is the first official cooperation in European and Chinese aviation,
which is managed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Civil Aviation
Administration of China.
In terms to those individual airlines, there is another event that caught the public attention is that

The results that Alan Thompson was able to enact for Texaco of Canada were vast. By taking
increasing sales of Texaco s middle and high end product line, overall profitability increased.
Improved lives is what good leadership is all about. We have learned that the culminating factor that
good leader s actions result in is the improvement of lives for those around them. Externally, Alan
Thompson was able to improve the lives of his customers by extending their fleets service periods

Limitations Of Athenian Democracy
The ancient city state of Athens has long been celebrated for the foundation of the first democracy
in the 5th century B.C.E. Though it was unrivaled by any other ancient civilization in the creation
of a government that offered its citizens a way to directly participate in various democratic
institutions and make their voices heard, it was far from perfect. Identifying the limitations of
Athenian democracyat its peak and investigating some of the events that potentially let to its
subsequent demise provides a more complete understanding of the weaknesses in the democratic
system. While Athenian democracygranted ordinary male citizens unprecedented political power
and is celebrated for being an innovative form of government in the ancient world and a model for
contemporary democracy, it was inclusive of only a small portion of the Athenian population and
had inherent flaws within the system that ultimately lead to its failure.
Although Athens had a direct democracy, participation in the government was heavily restricted.
Governmental participation was initially extended to the ordinary citizens of Athens in order to
mitigate the resentment of the majority of people towards the aristocratic tier of society. However,
women, slaves, and immigrants were excluded from citizenship, and true citizens (men of age with
Greek parents) made up only about ten to twenty percent of the population . Also, many Greek
states were built on the institution of slavery and the subjection of

Character Analysis Of Rent
The musical Rent was first produced in 1994 by Jonathan Larson and is loosely based on the
opera La Boheme (1896) by Giacomo Puccini. This rock opera production tells the story of the
lives of 8 bohemians living in Manhattan for a year. Many of the characters in Rent are pulled
directly from Puccini s La BohГЁme. There are 8 main characters the story follows; Roger Davis, a
musician who is HIV positive, Mimi MГЎrquez, an exotic dancer and Roger s girlfriend, Mark
Cohen, a Jewish filmmaker who is Roger s roommate, Maureen Johnson, a bisexual performance
artist, Joanne Jefferson, a lawyer who is Maureen s girlfriend, Tom Collins, a gay part time
philosophy professor at New York University with AIDS. Angel Dumott Schunard, a drag queen
who is Collins partner, and Benjamin Benny Coffin III, their landlord and the former roommate
of Roger, Mark, Collins, and Maureen. The plot of Rent borrows heavily from its predecessor.
La Boheme was also based on young artists and free thinkers, and these characters were afflicted
with the plague of the time period, tuberculosis. Similarly, in Rent the artists are all affected in
some way by the HIV and AIDS epidemic of the 1990s. The story highlights the two roommates
Mark and Roger. A former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, and Mark tries to capture the ups
and downs of his friend s lives on tape through his attempts to make a film.
The beginning of the film opens up to the main characters struggling to make their rent. The rest of

1. Dr. Baker spends a long time listening to (auscultating) Caleb s heart. a. Where on the thoracic
surface do you auscultate to the tricuspid, mitral (bicuspid), pulmonary, and aortic valves?
Auscultation for the tricuspid valve would be in the left sternal margin of the 5th intercostal space.
The mitral valve sounds are heard over the apex of the heart (5th intercostal space) in line with the
middle of the clavicle. Pulmonary valve sounds are auscultated at the 2nd intercostal space at the
left sternal margin. The aortic valve is heard at the 2nd intercostal space of the right sternal

Atrioventricular Canal Defect is an abnormality that causes the mixing of blood. There is a hole
in center of heart where the wall between the upper and lower chambers meet. The tricuspid and
mitral valves aren t formed properly and one large valve crosses the defect. The defect lets
oxygen rich blood pass to the heart s right side and mix with deoxygenated blood, then go back
to the lungs. Another abnormality is Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), where the walls of the upper
chambers of the heart don t close completely, causing a left to right movement of blood due to
the higher pressure. The mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood may cause the right
atrium and ventricle to enlarge due to the higher volume of blood. 6. What happens to Caleb s
systemic cardiac output as a result of his ventricular septal defect (VSD)? Explain your answer.
Caleb s systemic cardiac output will be decreased. His blood will enter the right ventricle be
pumped to the lungs, return to the left ventricle and then be shunted back to the right ventricle.
This causes more blood to enter the right ventricle. The extra blood then leaving the right
ventricle causes a volume overload to the lungs. Because blood is being shunted back to the right
ventricle, there is a lesser volume of oxygenated blood that leaves the heart to supply the rest of
the body. 7. One of the problems that worried Tiffaney was that Caleb seemed to be breathing too

Persuasive Computer Games
Kids in schools often struggle with learning invaluable life skills. Life skills that are supposed to
carry kids throughout the rest of their lives. The solution to this problem may be easier than we
initially thought. What if we could teach these skills through video games? In Pamela Paul s
Reading, Writing and Video Games , Paul argues that video games are ineffective in the classroom
and serve more as a hindrance rather than an asset. Classrooms should take advantage of the
technological advances like video games that have the ability to positively teach young minds life
skills.
Attention can benefit from the use of video games in classrooms. Although it may seem
counterproductive, video games cause the players to focus on the task in front of them. Therefore
it increases their attention. The length of the games also have a part in this. Longer games cause
the player to focus for a longer period of time which combats attention issues. The potential
rewards or benefits of completing a level in a game are a motivating factor in the attention keeping
process. For example, PokГ©mon, with its many generations of games forces the player to stay
focused on the game. The turn based battles cause players to have to pay attention to what attacks
their opponent has already used, the matchup of the battling PokГ©mon s types, and a variety of
other factors. If the player doesn t, they run the risk of that PokГ©mon fainting or even losing the

Thriller Song Lyric interpretation script
Mrs. Codita
October 11th, 2014
My name is Ali Alansari, and the reason why I chose this song is because I always used to like this
song since I was a child and now I really want to know the real meanings towards this song.
Michael Jackson wrote thriller. This song was written in 1984, and zombies represent fears in the
American consciousness. Also in that time, there was the great recession, which included poor
communities, unemployment, AIDS crisis and racial polarization. The fact that this song was for
terrorizing the neighborhood, it allows the audience to imagine connections for social and political
issues. In this text, it is about Michael Jackson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These techniques include using personification, visual imagery and the use of a anaphora. Firstly,
Jackson presents the audience personifications in this text. The personification in You try to scream
but terror takes the sound before you make it/ You try to freeze as horror looks you tight between
the eyes (Line 3/4) shows the non human characteristics of horror and terror. This relates to how
nightmares can be a part of reality which brings frightened feelings, because it shows how terror
can get the audience, and it confirms how it can be real since the girl is screaming but terror is
getting her. The diction of horror looks you tight between the eyes shows the audience the
terrifying scenes how it is really occurring, which bring the audience a feeling of fright. Also, the
use of visual imagery plays a big part in conveying the spooky images to the audience. There are
various visual imageries in this text. Jackson shows the audience how Night creatures call and
the dead start to walk in their masquerade/ There s no escapin the jaws of the alien this time
(Line 19/20) visualizes the scary night creatures walking to the girl and that she has no space to
escape. This implies that Jackson is frightening the girl by proving the horrific scenes. The
diction of There s no escapin shows a casual register to show the audience how this song is
shown scary and casually. The theme of the reality of having horrific scene is demonstrated by
this visual imagery, putting an image to the audience s mind the reality of what is happening to
the girl. Finally, the use of anaphora in You hear the door slam and realize there s nowhere left
to run/ You feel the cold hand and wonder if you ll ever see the sun (Line 10/11) portrays how the
girl is locked in horror and she has no freedom.

The Relationship Between Internal Communication and...
Introduction
It is clear that internal communication is an essential practice for organisational success. However,
what does this statement actually mean? In this essay, I hope to break down both concepts of
internal communication and successful organisations and then conduct an in depth analysis on the
relationship between internal communication and successful organisations.
What is internal communication?
Literature Reivew
According to Bruce Berger, Internal communication represents the communication and the
interactions among the members of an organization, being defined as a way of describing and
explaining a corporation. Internal communication targets the internal members of an organization,
including the superiors, the collaborators and the subordinates. (Kovacs Reka and Anca Borza,
2012, 613 630)
This means that internal communications is crucial for creating unity and harmony within an
organisation. Through internal communication, employees of an organisation can exchange
information, establish relationships, form systems of values, create an organisational culture,
harmonize activities, establish collaboration for the achievement of goals and develop formal and
informal networks. (Kovacs Reka and Anca Borza, 2012, 613 630) Another way to look at internal
communications would be to define it as a strategic organisational communications and they differ
from one organisation to another.
Internal communications happens constantly within organizations and is

Hypnosis In Clinical Study
The question of how hypnosis plays a role in helping in the different aspects of life is a question
that is often wondered. Hypnosis can be used in a number of ways in medicine including

building capacity for the new products. In the early rounds, we also invested a lot in marketing
to create as high a customer awareness as possible. Due to this, our finance strategy was to fund
these activities in R D, production and marketing by taking loans (long term short term debts), in
the initial rounds. At the same time, we took care to implement all the steps to avoid emergency
loans. In terms of sales and marketing, we adapted our strategy based on how the products
played in each segment. Our strategy was to spend efficiently in marketing sales to keep the
customer awareness and accessibility high for the premium products, while maintaining a decent
level of awareness and accessibility in other segments. We also tried to keep the contribution
margin well above 30%, but in later rounds when we focused solely in the high end segment, we
were forced to undercut prices and cutting our contribution margin to sell off our products such as
Buddy, Bold and Bead. Strengths: I think one of our strengths was corrective learning. In terms of
strategic decision making, we were able to learn from some of our mistakes in the early rounds so
that we ended up performing slightly better than how we started in terms of net income,

Why Plea Bargains Should Be Taken To Trial
When it comes to trials there is a great deal of uncertainty. There is no way to predict what a jury
or judge will decide. A case that a lawyer thought would go one way could completely turn and
do the opposite. This leads to the question of whether a case should be taken to trial or not. It is
because of this that plea bargaining is often put to use. Plea bargaining is beneficial to the
prosecutor as well as the defense attorney and the defendant. Plea bargains are based upon the
mutual interest of all parties involved and they can occur for a variety of reasons. One reason a
plea bargain may occur is because a prosecutors evidence is not as strong as they would like.
Prosecutors want their cases to be as strong as possible so that they can expect a win. If they are
unsure of what the outcome may be, they prefer to find a way to avoid going to trial. Plea bargains
offer prosecutors a speedy conviction without committing to the necessities of a trial. However, this
does not only help the prosecutor. The accused may find reduced charges, reduced defense costs,
and sometimes even a shorter sentence than originally planned.... Show more content on

Perhaps the prosecutor knows that he will win the case. If he/she has enough evidence to convict
the defendant it may be that the defense attorney suggests that a plea bargain would be best for
his/her client. Sometimes plea bargains are offered when the defendant releases information about
other crimes they are aware of. In return, they get the possibility of reduced charges that I
mentioned earlier. Once again, the benefits of plea bargains are mutual to everyone involved.
While there may be many different reasons as to why a plea bargain may occur, these are just a few

The Japanese yen s appreciation to record highs against the euro and relative strength against the

Optical And Analog Image Processing
In imaging science, image processing is processing of images using mathematical operations by
using any conformation of signal processing for which the input is an image, such as a picture or
video frame, the out turn of image processing may be either an image or a set of features or
parameters corrsponding to the image. Most image processing techniques implicate treating the
image as a 2D signal and appealing worth signal processing techniques to it.
Image processing usually refers to digital image processing, but optical and analog image
processing also are possible. This article is about general techniques that apply to all of them. The
acquisition of images (producing the input image in the first place) is referred to as imaging.
Closely related to image processing are computer graphics and computer vision. In computer
graphics, images are manually made from physical models of objects, environments, and lighting,
instead of being acquired (via imaging devices such as cameras) from natural scenes, as in most
animated movies. Computer vision, on the other hand, is often considered high level image
processing out of which a machine/computer/software intends to decipher the physical contents of
an image or a sequence of images (e.g., videos or 3D full body magnetic resonance scans).
In modern sciences and technologies, images also gain much broader scopes due to the ever

The Futility Of Dreaming By John Steinbeck

English ENG1D: Block 7

The Futility of Dreaming
As the late Osho believed, And desires are never here and now they are non existential. They are
just mental, in the mind. And they cannot be fulfilled because their very nature is to move into the
future. John Steinbeck s novella, Of Mice and Men explores this theme of futile desire through
various relationships and character complexes. This fictional story begins by introducing two men
with a relationship built from the very foundations of love. As the novel progresses, we begin
questioning innate truths. Steinbeck uses his literary prowess to entwine us within a story of
loneliness, loss and morality. The characters hopes and dreams, regardless of outcome, are a
mechanism of survival and a desire to lead something other than an otherwise inconsequential
existence.
Steinbeck presents dreams as a tool to aid the men of the ranch s contentment. They give a sense
of purpose, a reward for long days of hard labor on the ranch. The idea of dreams prolonging
survival and happiness is best portrayed by the dream and relationship shared by Lennie and
George. Their mutual dream to live offa the fatta the lan (Steinbeck 57) brings to light their need
of other s companionship to alleviate isolation and loneliness, and to make their dream seem more
realistic. To immerse oneself in this idyllic fantasy world with acres of vegetable garden, and
rabbits, was the perfect

Existentialism in Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis and The...
Existentialism in The Metamorphosis and The Hunger Artist
Existentialism is a philosophy dealing with man s aloneness in the universe. Either there is no
God or else God stands apart from man, leaving him free will to make his own choices. From this
basic idea of man being alone in an uncertain and purposeless world, many related ideas have
developed. One great worry of existentialist writers is that life is becoming too complicated and
too impersonal. People become more and more involved with their work, which is taking them
away from their friends, family, and culture. However, these provide the only meaning that life
could possibly have. One author prominently known for his work with existential ideas was Franz
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kafka also uses the existential idea that man s fate is sometimes beyond man s control. In his
stories, chance or destiny rules man s life. Gregor could not control his metamorphosis, just as he
cannot control his new legs which waved helplessly before his eyes (1). The hunger artist s fate
is to die of starvation, since as he says, I have to fast, I can t help it (8). Gregor dies; the artist
dies. Their lack of control over their fates emphasizes man s helplessness and forlornness, to use
Sartre s term.
For both Gregor and the hunger artist, work leads from dehumanization to death. Their deaths
illustrate another theme of existentialist writing: that man, though alone, cannot survive by
himself. He needs to interact as a member of society in order to give meaning to his life. Man
needs mankind in order to be alive. Before his metamorphosis, Gregor was very much a loner. He

Site Assessment Essay
Human Health Impacts As stated earlier, LEED acknowledges the construction of a building at a
site and all its impacts on the existing ecosystem. It evaluates the proximity of vulnerable
populations, adjacent physical activity opportunities, and proximity to large sources of air
pollution. The construction of a buildingmay lead to unwanted and harmful emissions into the
ecosystem. Hence, building use is defined and all possible effects on local populations are
determined to avoid any predictable future damage to health and lifestyle of the present population
at the site.
Efficacy of Site Assessment
Site assessment is a fundamental part of site sustainability credit of the rating system. Regardless of

Although it is new, it serves as one of the most significant parts of the site sustainability credit. This
inventory report directly relates the site to the relative ecological and biological aspects of a
landscape. This preliminary look at the conditions of the site enhances the sustainability in the
initial design and planning stages, providing a sustainable start to the project planning. The site
assessment worksheet should have more extensive site research inquiries which further explore
sustainable options. I propose the site assessment report should include more aspects of site
inspection like
The heat island effect provision under sustainable sites carries two point weight on the rating
system when it just focuses on building envelope whereas site assessment should require assessing
the building setting and envelope beforehand before the construction even begins to be able to
make provisional steps during design and construction to reduce it (heat island effect).
A possible change suggested in this credit would be to increase the weight from one point to at
least two points in terms of LEED pilot credit points (may involve merging of heat island effect into
site assessment credit).

Tinker V. Des Moines Independent Community Schools Case...
In the case of Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District, two Supreme Court
justices, Abe Fortas and Hugo Black, give their testimony through writing, in which, Fortas agues
in favor of the students and gives valid evidence in order to prove his case. However, Black, while
he leans in favor of the schools focuses mainly on his opinion that the decision should be left to the
schoolofficials and not the courts. Justice Abe Fortas first argument was in paragraph 4 when he
said in our system, undifferentiated fear or apprehension of disturbance is not enough to overcome
the right to Freedom of expression. He backs this up by citing the case of Terminiello v. Chicago
where it was determined that the Constitution... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

other hand, Black stated several points and did not support them well with factual evidence, and
he only cited one case in favor of his argument, Cox v. Louisiana, and the rest, for the most part,
was based on his personal opinion. In closing, Justice Abe Fortas and Justice Hugo Black both
give valid testimony for their side of the argument; however, Fortas profusion of cited evidence
outweighs Black s mainly opinionated case. And even though this may seem like just another court
case to be cited one day, it can go a long way in protecting students

Nineteen Eighty-Four And Communism Essay
Nineteen Eighty Four was written by a major contributor to anticommunist literature around the
World War II period, and is one of the greatest stories of an anti utopian society ever. Nineteen
Eighty Four was not written solely as an entertaining piece of literature or as a dream of what
the future could be like, it was written as a warning of what could happen as a result of
communism and totalitarianism. This was not necessarily a widely popular vision of the future at
the time of publication, but it was certainly considered a possibility by many people. The popular
vision of the future, if analyzed as from a character in the book s point of view, sometimes changes,
depending on the character. The mass of people, the proletarians, have a... Show more content on

Comparison Of Wuthering Heights And Othello
Compare and contrast how love is explored in Wuthering Heights and Othello
The theme of love is found throughout the complete history of literature and is still being explored
in a vast majority of works today. It is a theme that brings strong emotions to both the characters and
the audience. Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs , an extract from Shakespeare s Romeo
and Juliet is one of the examples of this love throughout literature. This quote shows the negative
side of love, made with the fume of sighs makes you think that love is produced from bad things.
This is because the word sighs is a reaction to something unfortunate happening. Both Othello and
Wuthering Heights show a negative side of love of the much explored theme of love. Characters
driven by desire, lying just to try and catch a glimpse of love, and overall heartache all these
things are shown in the two texts. They truly show just how love is a smoke made with the fume of
sighs .
Cathy, Heathcliff, Desdemona and Othello all go against the society expectations of the times set.
That I did love the Moor to live with him, my downright violence and storm of fortunes, may
trumpet to the world. My heart s subdued , this shows how much Desdemona loves Othello. It
shows how much Desdemona loves Othello. It shows the passionate love that she has for him,
violence and storm of fortunes portrays the passion in her heart. The word storm suggests that her
love for Othello is in the moment

Almighty God! no, no! They heard! they suspected! they knew! The use of exclamation marks

The Sports Medicine Field
Poet Marguerite Murer once said, A critical role in athletics I do play; Without me there would be
no game today. Sports medicine professionals and football players go hand and hand. Without
Sports Medicine professionals, football players could not perform their job. Without Sports
Medicine professionals, there would not be as many healthy athletes, as coaches and players would
have greater opportunities to abuse recovery, causing players to ultimately get injured even further.
Over time, research in the Sports Medicinefield, especially pertaining to concussions, has improved
the overall health and injuryrecovery of football players. Research has not only provided more
insight into these type of injuries but has also allowed for advancements in the recovery process.
Along with increasing awareness during the recovery process following an injury, research has also
been applied to the development and improvement of equipment in an effort to prevent injuries
before they occur.
The Sports Medicine field focuses on helping athletes improve their athletic performance, recover
from injury, and prevent future injuries. This fast growing healthcare field affords healthcare
workers who specialize in Sports Medicine the opportunity to help many non athletes as well as

Employee Violations In Employment Law
The Employment law regulates the relationship between the employer and employee so they can
engage in fair and ethical employment practices. It is especially important for employers to know
and refer to employment law in the context of employment. This is because the courts are more
likely to protect employees from unfair treatments as they generally believe employees are in
weaker bargaining position than their employer. I.What employment violations has the employer
committed, if any? According to the case, Sally found out her employer unilaterally changed her
job without providing reasonable notice of the change. In Canada, employers generally have the
right to make changes to the terms of employment if it is reasonably necessary and employees have
the right to be notified and consulted before any changes were imposed. In other words, one party
cannot impose a change to the terms of contract without first notifying and securing the consent of
the other party (Yates,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Can Sally sue for damages? If Sally can sue for damages, what might the court consider when
assessing damages? According to Yates (2013), when an employer demotes or makes unilateral
changes to the nature of employment, this constitutes a constructive dismissal. This proves that
Sally was constructively dismissed. Therefore, she can treat the contract as wrongfully terminated
and sue for wrongful dismissal. In considering Sally s case, the court would apply the same test
they have established in 2015 to determine a constructive dismissal for the case of Potter v. New
Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission (2015 SCC 10 (CanLII)) : a)Extent of the unilateral
change: Whether the employer breached an express or implied term of the employment contract in
a way that substantially altered the essential terms of the contract; or b)Intention: The employer s
conduct would lead a reasonable person in the same situation to conclude that the employer no

What Is The Implementation Of MFO To Solve Multi-Area...
In this thesis implementation of MFO to solve multi area economic dispatch problems is
presented. The practical nonlinear generator constrained like VPL and POZ along with tie lines
power flow constraints are also considered in this study. The results obtained by MFO are
compared with recently reported results to validate and to show superior performance for the
solution of MAED problems with different dimensions and complexity levels. It was established
that the MFO algorithm provides good solution in terms of convergence rate and optimum costwith
less number of control parameters. The MFO is found to be a promising approach for real world

The thesis has presented a new procedure for solving the Multi Area Economic Dispatch problem
using MFO algorithm. The procedure is shown to be very fast, robust, and extensible to include a
large class of utility problems.
3.6SUGGETION FOR FUTURE WORK
The MAED problem is much complex due to the practical operational constraints such as valve
point loading effect(VPL) ,prohibited operating zones (POZ) along with tie line power flow limit
constraints, which make the system highly nonlinear. Therefore it requires a powerful optimization
approach to solve these types of problems.
The project successfully applied MFO for the solution of classical MAED problem with security
consideration and without security consideration. The aims of the project were to introduce
renewable energy to a classical MAED problem and minimize the production costs while taking into
consideration the transmission lines, tie lines and bus voltage constraints. The proposed algorithm
was successfully tested on a five area system. Introduction of security aspects to the classical
MAED problem resulted in an increase in the total production cost of power.
Moth Flame optimization (MFO) Algorithm, is applied for constrained optimization and
engineering design problems. A comparative analysis of MFO algorithm expresses the optimum
functional value in term of accuracy and standard deviation over rest of well known constraint

Summary Of Extending The Ethical Wealth Of Nations
According to Dr. Jennings Extending the Ethical Wealth of Nations , the whole article twines
around the intrinsic worth of values and institutions. This reminds me about two Chinese
philosopher in the traditional Chinese Confucianism, Mencius (372 289 BC) and XunZi (310 235
BC). Both of them had a theories about intrinsic value, which have huge effect in Chinese
institutions, but in poles apart. Mencius takes the view that the nature of being is goodness but
Xunzi believes it is evil.
Mencius advocated the theory of original goodness in human nature. His theory has affected the
classical Chinese culture deeply and has been considered the most important theory of his thought.
Mencius illustrated that:

In short, theory of virtue is a kind of view of human nature. Human s nature is to good, and doing
good things is easier than doing evil things. He believes that good of human nature is an
indisputable fact just like water flows downward. As in the western, Adam Smith has similar
recognition in The Theory of Moral Sentiments. He considered that human nature is good, naturally
concerned about the fate of others, and includes the sympathy and empathy. This takes concerted
action to the altruism and the ethical values in the paper.
On the contrast, Xunzi argues that human tends to evil in the theory of original evil of human
nature, and being evil is easier than being good. Xunzi elucidated that:
Human nature is evil; its goodness derives from conscious activity. Now it is human nature to be
born with a fondness for profit. Indulging this leads to contention and strife, and the sense of
modesty and yielding with which one was born disappears. One is born with feelings of envy and
hate, and, by indulging these, one is led into banditry and theft, so that the sense of loyalty and

Beaten by a Hair
Introduction
The case I chose to write on is based on a DVD that we watched in class called Beaten by a hair .
In this case, a woman was reported missing after she went to work and never returned home.
After the police discovered a bloody pillow case in the woods, near her house, they linked it to
the missing pillow case in the woman s room, and then realized that they had a murder case on
their hands. A mystery in the case was that one of the local neighbors had mentioned seeing the
woman leave through the front door of her house but the evidence says different, so investigators

294). This means even after a week the blood has been cleaned up, luminol can still detect it. Also
after applying luminol, the area needs to be darkened so that blue glow can be emitted. The iron
from the hemoglobin in the blood causes luminol to glow, so a blue glow is produced when the
solution is sprayed where there is blood. Only a tiny amount of iron is required to catalyze the
reaction (Helmenstine, 2012). The use of luminol revealed that there were blood stains on the bed
sheets and suspected that the woman was killed in her bedroom and that she did not go to work
that day or leave the house.
Upon further analysis of the woman s bedroom, the forensic officers used a chemical called
amido black. Amido black is a protein dye that is sensitive to the protein in blood and when it
makes contact stains a latent blue black colour. It is used for revealing fingerprints, trace
evidence, and fibers that may be in the crime scene. This technique was not useful for the
officers because they could not find any prints or evidence. The forensic officers also performed
an ultraviolet light test which was used to reveal trace evidence such as vaginal fluid, urine,
semen, or saliva. The ultraviolet test is usually done before using chemicals such as luminol to see
if there are any fibers to be found and used first. However the officers were not able to find
anything, but this method was useful to them because they could not find any evidence to prove that

1.1 Explain The Difference Between Sequence Of Development...
Explain the difference between sequence of development and rate of development and why the
difference is important.
All Children follow very similar pattern of growth and development. For e.g. Physical
development begins with baby holding its head followed by turning over, crawling, sitting and
eventually walking by the age of 12 18months. Most children follow these steps of physical
development, some start walking before their first birthday while some may start walking
independently when they are 18months old or even later. Similarly, communicational development
begins when baby cries to seek attention or convey discomfort, then gradually responds carer with
sounds like coo , ooh , etc. At the age of 9months child starts saying simple words like ... Show

It Is important to understand why the child is not developing like other children in case a
milestone is not achieved by the expected age. Delays in one aspect can have a domino effect on
the other development. Communicational delays affect many aspects of life. If a child continues
babbling or stammering, he/she could be targeted by peers, get bullied or made fun of. This
affects child s social and emotional development. If a child s motor skills are not developed then
he/she could face problems with writing, handling equipment and other motor skills. Sequence of
development also guides professional at what rate an individual development is expected. If a
milestone is not achieved, then they have to identify the causes of delays. In learning environment
professionals can device an individual support plan to help the child develop and reach full
potentials.
The individual support plan is prepared, followed and monitored by specialists, teachers and
teaching assistants depending on the reasons of delays.
Following are some ways in which development can be supported by teachers and teaching

The Curtiss P 40 Warhawk was a single engine, single seat, metal fighter plane and ground attack
aircraft that was made by the Americans. The P 40 Warhawk fighters first flew in 1938 and
caught the attention of the United States Army Air Corps, who placed the largest fighter plane
order it had ever made for fighters for a count of 524 at a cost of US$13 million. This was the
earliest serious fighter in WWII and did its job until better fighters came out. It was known as a
safe and secure aircraft that was able to fly pilots back home after being shot up in action. Many
variants of this plane were later created. In addition, the shark teeth graphics were a big feature on

A P 40 would out roll a Zero at high speeds, and a good P 40 pilot could use this to great effect if
the Zero pilot fell for it. Another thing was that for every good Zero model, the P 40 had a variant
that was faster. Therefore, the P 40 pilot could always break off an attack. The P 40, of course, had
an even greater advantage in diving speeds, with well over 400 miles per hour attainable with no
risk of damage to the planes strong airframe. Early Zero s couldn t hit 350 miles per hour without
the risk of damage to their plane. To get back on topic of the P 40 s design, the P 40 s rudder had
red, white, and blue stripes. The engine cowling had a large shark mouth and eye. There were
actually only 199 P 40s made. The rest were variants of it. The next step in the P 40 developmental
stage was the P 40A. The P 40A received a camera installation near the rear of the fuselage. The P
40B received a better protected fuel system to keep it from possibly being blown up. The P 40C
then was given the ability to carry bombs and received self sealing gas tanks. Less than 50 P 40 Ds

Neil Shubin Your Inner Fish Summary
The book Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin is a journey into 3.5 billion year history of the human
body. The book is an entertaining and useful novel that demonstrates the evolution of some of our
major structures through time. By analyzing fossils and DNA, the author shows us that our
hands truly resemble fish fins, our head is organized like that of a long extinct jawless fish, and
that major parts of our genome look and function like those of worms and bacteria. The book
takes us on a remarkable expedition in which it will show us our inner fish, reptile and monkey.
The author of Your Inner Fish, Neil Shubin, discovered a missing link , a fossil he called Tiktaalik.
Tiktaalik shows features that connect the evolutionary gap between fishes and land living animals.
Shubin demonstrates in the first four chapters how different branches of science prove that many
organs within numerous creatures, ancient or living, are deeply related. For the following chapters
he discusses the resemblances between the designs of bodies, skulls, hands, eyes and ears
belonging to most of the beings of the animal kingdom.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

truly resemble fish fins, our head is organized like that of a long extinct jawless fish, and that
major parts of our genome look and function like those of worms and bacteria. The book takes us

Global Warming Position Paper
Although some believe that Global Warming has been created due to manmade pollutants, I
believe that Global Warming is a natural process that has been accelerated due to the excess
emissions of pollutants from nature and manmade devices into the atmosphere. The world has been
said to be on a cycle of global warmingand cooling, this process can neither be stopped nor
prevented, but it can be accelerated with the addition of non natural emissions from automobiles
and factories; because this is a natural process, even if constraints were to be put on the amount of
pollutants released into the air global warming could not be prevented it could only be slowed.
When the inevitable happens and global warming occurs, there are many... Show more content on

Slowing the process of global warming would allow us, as a worldwide power, to take
preventative measures that could cut back the amount of damage that global warming can cause
though it would be hard, if we could cut back on work hours of large factories and put together
more public transportation for the working class then we could slow global warming within the
next few years. This idea, if enacted, has the potential to harm the economy of many nations,
because the working hours would be cut in factories that employ thousands of employees, but it
also can allow for scientists and engineers to come up with a plan that could prevent/lower the
amount of risk we have environmentally from being impacted by global warming and its effects.
It has the potential to harm the economy of other nations, because shortening the amount of
hours that their factories are allowed to run can raise production time and cost this would lead
to the increase in price of items, because it would take more money and time to produce these
goods rather than if they were able to work for a longer amount of time and produce more goods
in this time period. The reward outweighs the risk, though; this is because if global warming is not
slowed down, then the sea level can rise sooner than we are able

Music For Distraction
Music is so important nowadays. People who don t like music are considered weird to me, or
maybe just aren t like me. It helps us get distracted from things we are dealing with at the time.
Like problems at school or problems at home, either can be something music distracts us from. It
can also relax us or in other put us to sleep. Musiccan also help us get money. Humans just don t
understand how important music is. We use music for distractions, relaxation, and money.
Distraction is a big thing that music does for us during our hard times. It helps us think more
clearly, and it sometimes even gives us advice. When i m having a bad day and don t feel like
talking to anyone, I use music to stop from thinking about it. I m not the

Persuasive Essay On Juvenile Delinquency
Suzzie and her two friends are outside playing around when Suzzie decides that she want to play
doorbell ditching. So eventually they go around the neighborhood and get a few houses playing
doorbell ditching. When they approached their last house that owner caught them. Suzzie
explained to him that they were playing pranks because they were bored and the neighbor told
them he did the same thing when he was younger so he understands. It would be different if
Suzzie and her friends were bored and they decided to torture a cat for the fun of it. At a young
age, it was normal to do little pranks such as doorbell ditching or throwing water balloons at
people. Those actions are not considered mischievous behavior. On the other hand, Suzzie and her
friends torturing a cat could be an early sign of juvenile delinquency. To help eliminate crimeI
believe we need to first target the juveniles. It starts at an early age and continues from there.
What exactly is juvenile delinquency? It is a violation of the law committed by a juvenile and not
punishable by death or life imprisonment. We must first decipher the difference between a child
being a child and playing little pranks and a child doing something that is punishable by law. Don t
get me wrong, sometimes children do stuff that they know they re not supposed to do and it takes
that one time for them to get caught and get in trouble by an adult or an officer. Sometimes them
getting in trouble is just an adult explaining to them that their actions are wrong. Every child has
had that happen to them when they were younger.
Early detection of juvenile delinquency can sometimes help stop a major problem before it
happens. But how are you able to detect this behavior in a child? According to the NCJRS, they
have identified a few warning signs that are of importance to pay attention to. These signs are:
Disruptive behavior that is either much more frequent or more severe than what other children in
the same age group display. Disruptive behavior, such as temper tantrums and aggression, that
persists beyond the terrible twos and threes. And lastly, a history of aggressive, inattentive, or
sensation seeking behavior in the preschool years.

The Significance of the Open-Source Act and Linux Essay
The Significance of the Open Source Act and Linux
In the 1980 s hardly anyone knew what a DOS attack was, most people hadn t ever seen a
computer. There was one great OS for companies back then, UNIX. Unix was commercially made,
very expensive, but was a very strong Operating System. Because of the price of equipment, many
people wouldn t get into computers, but there was no reason to. Nothing of great significance was
stored on computers.
By 1985, computers hit the mainstream, providing many universities with links to each other and
their libraries. This all came along with the invention of the Internet. Suddenly there was a great
amount of information available to those who had access. There were many people who wanted to

Before long, every hacker and their brother knew how to find a big error in the Unix code on any
server. They exploited the servers with many different attacks, mostly being troublesome for no
reason. Phone lines and networks were taken down left and right, and many devices came about
to help deal with the phone system. Many phreakers had developed boxes, named by color, that
would do things to the phone network, just by holding it up to the reciever to play recorded
tones. There was the red box: A box that could get you free long distance calls. There was a beige
box: A box that would make any calls you made untraceable by the FBI or Mamma Bell, a
nickname for the Owner of Packard Bell, a large phone company.
With the growth of the hackers, many new ways of protecting your systems had to come about.
Routers, firewalls, and many other types of security precautions came about. They prevented many
hackers from breaking in, but all it took is one to find a way around, and everyone would know.
But with the FBI and Mamma Bell handing out arrest warrants left and right, many hackers gave up
on their former lifestyles.
For the companies and the government, everything was taking a turn for the best, until 1996. In
1996 Linus Horswald released Linux under the Open Source Act. He originally made it for a
calculator for his grandfather, but it advanced into much more. By the time he was done with

Doors Opening, Closing On Us, By Marge Piercy
The word doors can have different meanings. Literally, they are a slab of material that separates
something from another, usually a room. Figuratively they can have many meanings, for example,
they can symbolize a growth or a development. In addition, doors can show, an important point
where someone turns from a child into an adult, or they can symbolize celebrations held to
commemorate these special transitions. Doors can also be used to describe life s most important
parts, such as being born or passing away. The Giveris a book by Lois Lowry, it is about a boy
named Jonas living in a community set in the future. This community faces strict laws, if the
citizen does not abide by these rules then there can be some serious punishments. In this book
Jonas gets selected as a receiver, the receiver s job is to get memories from the past and store
them in his mind to shield the truth from the people of the community. The poem Doors
Opening, Door Closing on Us is by Marge Piercy, this poem is about the essence of doors and
what they can symbolize. Piercy writes about how doors can mean various things to different
people. Both the book Giver and the poem Doors Opening, Closing on Us have similarities that
describe the stages a person goes through in their life.
The poem and the story both describe death using a door. Lois Lowry incorporates doors in her
book by writing about how a citizen has to walk through a special door into the releasing room. In
the book, the

Summary Of Blue Collar Brilliance
Blue Collar Brilliance
There is an expectation for this generation to attend college after graduating high school. There is
also a stigma held by those higher on the social ladder, one that the less educated blue collar
workforce is inferior to others. In Mike Rose s essay Blue Collar Brilliance he compares the level
of education to the experience gained through challenges, and contends that blue collar employees
are of equal intelligence to higher educated employees. This article is written to challenge the
misconceptions that other classes hold about the amount of education that a person receives, and
how It affects their work ethic. Through the use of pathos, ethos, and logos Mike Rose forges a
connection with the audience to convey this message.
Mike Rose utilizes personal experience by telling the story of his mother, a waitress, and how she
had to utilize intellectual skills in her workplace similarly to how students do in college. He uses
this experience to almost profile his mother and his uncle Joe, to use them as examples for his
statement that even those who don t have formal education learn the important kind of intelligence
in the workplace. He indicates that we, as a society, assume that those with less time in school are
less intelligent.
In this text, Rose eloquently utilizes pathos to create an emotional connection towards the blue
collar workforce. Rose also writes about his family members to try to establish a connection
between readers and his memories, so that the reader could relate and begin to understand the
requirements of such careers. These experiences demonstrate how passionate workers like Rosie
and uncle Joe are about their careers, and how their passion encourages them to seek further
ways to learn and improve. Throughout his article Rose vividly recalls the stories for the
audience, Rosie took customers orders, pencil poised over pad, while fielding questions about the
food. She walked full tilt through the room with plates stretching up her left arm and two cups of
coffee somehow cradled in her right hand (Rose 3). The reader is better able to grasp the fact that
blue collar careers require more intense cognitive abilities than other social classes give them credit

Sydney Olympic Park Observations
My report is based on the data that I have collected when I visited the Sydney Olympic Park and

five species to make my observations and record the data via the climate watch website. Since I
could not download the app on my mobile phone, I decided to write down my observations with
the help of the climate watch website. This website tells us how to record data, why, where and
what observations we should be making. Before presenting my data I would like to acknowledge

My Political Ideology
My New Political Ideology A population s views on political issues may change as different

decisions that we produce and the views that we as American citizens choose to hold. After a

explain how political science class has influenced my political ideology. When this class initially

As I stated in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our country. Although
there are people that will argue that school should not be mandatory if the family must send
there children to work to provide money for housing, I would have to disagree. Since there are
social programs for providing food and shelter, education should not be neglected. When
education is neglected, those children have a chance of becoming burdens to society rather than
benefits. School develops leaders and followers of society, and provides a structure for those
who may need it in their lives. After a semester in political science class, I found that many of the
liberals in my class did not know very much about the issues that made them liberals. Since the
class is an introduction to the American political system, that fact did not bother me as much as it
normally would. Since the issue of media was hot topic to talk about, I thought that most of the
students in my class had realized the medias bad reviews of conservatives. Unfortunlty that was
not the case, Most of students denied that the media was liberal until proven to them. I cannot
blame the students in my class for the things they have been taught by television. A lack of
education is to blame for that problem. By now you know that media is one of the issues that I
have added to my new paper. I found that the media has made many individuals

Power Ranger Research Paper
When I was four years old, I wanted to be a Power Ranger. I remember every Saturday morning
watching them fighting and defeating their foes. My favorite character was the Black Ranger. I
loved his vitality, his charisma, and his zeal. As a young boy, he showed me that anything could
be accomplished or overcome through teamwork. Through him, I learned what it meant to
accomplish a goal and set new ones. Power Rangers was a way I could escape from what I saw
every day in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Outside of my living room and on the streets, I saw the
same villains in my favorite TV show. However, these villains were not defeated as easily. There
were no Power Rangers to save the people in my neighborhood. I was born in a city that had
more bullet shells on the ground than the city s population, San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It was a
place where lying, stealing, and cheating were at the top of everyone s agenda. These were the
three essentials to survive day in and day out. I remember on my walks to school I would see kids
just like me collecting plastic bottles and metal cans to sell for scraps at the recycling plant.

  • 2. To What Extent Should Major League Baseball Games Be... Should major league baseball games be shorter or longer? In my opinion they should become shorter like 7 innings instead of 9. The average postseason game of 2016 was 3 в…• hours that is way too long in game 2 of the world series it lasted 4 hours and 4 minutes without going into extra innings. Rob Manfred the owner of the MLB is aware of the trend of long games, he knows baseballs pace of game. The MLB should make games shorter by making a rule where managers can make pitching changes only 2 times an inning. Major league baseball is losing fans because the game has way too many breaks if baseball was non stop action like soccer or tennis the league would keep more fans. • 3. A New Era Of Deep Cooperation A New Era of Deep Cooperation Economic 2166F November 29, 2016 Jingwen Guo 250811379 In recent years, airlines build a closer relationship, especially European airlines and Chinese airlines. Europe is the headstream of airplane, but compared to North America, European aviation is a little bit weak on the ridership. In late 1990s and early 2000s, Europe had more interactions with American aviation. In recent years, Europe set China as a new partner. European aviation is trying to expand its international market through increasing new cooperation. In recent years, the relationship between Chinese and European Aviation is getting closer. The strongest evidence is that Chinese government and European Union have signed a 5 year work agreement for reducing the economic burden in aviation industry, preserving aviation safety and environmental compatibility. European Union and China emphasized the importance of this project by preparing over 10 million euro as its budget. The detailed work plan was reviewed and updated in September 2016. This is the first official cooperation in European and Chinese aviation, which is managed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Civil Aviation Administration of China. In terms to those individual airlines, there is another event that caught the public attention is that the chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Carsten Spohr and Mr. Song Zhiyong, President and Executive Director of Air China ... • 5. Limitations Of Athenian Democracy The ancient city state of Athens has long been celebrated for the foundation of the first democracy in the 5th century B.C.E. Though it was unrivaled by any other ancient civilization in the creation of a government that offered its citizens a way to directly participate in various democratic institutions and make their voices heard, it was far from perfect. Identifying the limitations of Athenian democracyat its peak and investigating some of the events that potentially let to its subsequent demise provides a more complete understanding of the weaknesses in the democratic system. While Athenian democracygranted ordinary male citizens unprecedented political power and is celebrated for being an innovative form of government in the ancient world and a model for contemporary democracy, it was inclusive of only a small portion of the Athenian population and had inherent flaws within the system that ultimately lead to its failure. Although Athens had a direct democracy, participation in the government was heavily restricted. Governmental participation was initially extended to the ordinary citizens of Athens in order to mitigate the resentment of the majority of people towards the aristocratic tier of society. However, women, slaves, and immigrants were excluded from citizenship, and true citizens (men of age with Greek parents) made up only about ten to twenty percent of the population . Also, many Greek states were built on the institution of slavery and the subjection of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Roman Crucifixion Research Paper replace the existing temple with a new one, there are a number of different reconstruction of a series of events constituting Jesus arrest trial and condemnation. The roman crucifixion was commonly preceded by scourging which apparently weakened Jesus to the point he could no longer carry the cross beam on which he died. The horror and brutality associated with crucifixion may be difficult for us to visualize today. Can we say the story of Jesuswas at an end or just the beginning, the earliest Christians insisted that Jesus death on the cross was not the end of his life and that he repaired to many of them alive again? • 7. Character Analysis Of Rent The musical Rent was first produced in 1994 by Jonathan Larson and is loosely based on the opera La Boheme (1896) by Giacomo Puccini. This rock opera production tells the story of the lives of 8 bohemians living in Manhattan for a year. Many of the characters in Rent are pulled directly from Puccini s La BohГЁme. There are 8 main characters the story follows; Roger Davis, a musician who is HIV positive, Mimi MГЎrquez, an exotic dancer and Roger s girlfriend, Mark Cohen, a Jewish filmmaker who is Roger s roommate, Maureen Johnson, a bisexual performance artist, Joanne Jefferson, a lawyer who is Maureen s girlfriend, Tom Collins, a gay part time philosophy professor at New York University with AIDS. Angel Dumott Schunard, a drag queen who is Collins partner, and Benjamin Benny Coffin III, their landlord and the former roommate of Roger, Mark, Collins, and Maureen. The plot of Rent borrows heavily from its predecessor. La Boheme was also based on young artists and free thinkers, and these characters were afflicted with the plague of the time period, tuberculosis. Similarly, in Rent the artists are all affected in some way by the HIV and AIDS epidemic of the 1990s. The story highlights the two roommates Mark and Roger. A former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, and Mark tries to capture the ups and downs of his friend s lives on tape through his attempts to make a film. The beginning of the film opens up to the main characters struggling to make their rent. The rest of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Chap 18 Case Study 1. Dr. Baker spends a long time listening to (auscultating) Caleb s heart. a. Where on the thoracic surface do you auscultate to the tricuspid, mitral (bicuspid), pulmonary, and aortic valves? Auscultation for the tricuspid valve would be in the left sternal margin of the 5th intercostal space. The mitral valve sounds are heard over the apex of the heart (5th intercostal space) in line with the middle of the clavicle. Pulmonary valve sounds are auscultated at the 2nd intercostal space at the left sternal margin. The aortic valve is heard at the 2nd intercostal space of the right sternal margin.b. Where do you think would be the best place to auscultate Caleb s abnormal heart sound? Explain your answer. The abnormal heart... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Atrioventricular Canal Defect is an abnormality that causes the mixing of blood. There is a hole in center of heart where the wall between the upper and lower chambers meet. The tricuspid and mitral valves aren t formed properly and one large valve crosses the defect. The defect lets oxygen rich blood pass to the heart s right side and mix with deoxygenated blood, then go back to the lungs. Another abnormality is Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), where the walls of the upper chambers of the heart don t close completely, causing a left to right movement of blood due to the higher pressure. The mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood may cause the right atrium and ventricle to enlarge due to the higher volume of blood. 6. What happens to Caleb s systemic cardiac output as a result of his ventricular septal defect (VSD)? Explain your answer. Caleb s systemic cardiac output will be decreased. His blood will enter the right ventricle be pumped to the lungs, return to the left ventricle and then be shunted back to the right ventricle. This causes more blood to enter the right ventricle. The extra blood then leaving the right ventricle causes a volume overload to the lungs. Because blood is being shunted back to the right ventricle, there is a lesser volume of oxygenated blood that leaves the heart to supply the rest of the body. 7. One of the problems that worried Tiffaney was that Caleb seemed to be breathing too hard all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have been living in the United States for over 10 years, and I did not know that this tragedy happened before, so I was in shock to see how the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded only 73 seconds liftoff, and killing all seven astronauts onboard. Going to researching about the tragedy, I found out the real cause was a massive, almost explosive, burning of the hydrogen that was streaming from the failed tank bottom, combined with liquid oxygen leaking from a part of the fuel tank known as the interbank. Under severe aerodynamic loads, the space shuttleChallenger broke apart over the Atlantic Ocean one second later, or one minute and 13 seconds after launch. Although in the ... • 12. Persuasive Computer Games Kids in schools often struggle with learning invaluable life skills. Life skills that are supposed to carry kids throughout the rest of their lives. The solution to this problem may be easier than we initially thought. What if we could teach these skills through video games? In Pamela Paul s Reading, Writing and Video Games , Paul argues that video games are ineffective in the classroom and serve more as a hindrance rather than an asset. Classrooms should take advantage of the technological advances like video games that have the ability to positively teach young minds life skills. Attention can benefit from the use of video games in classrooms. Although it may seem counterproductive, video games cause the players to focus on the task in front of them. Therefore it increases their attention. The length of the games also have a part in this. Longer games cause the player to focus for a longer period of time which combats attention issues. The potential rewards or benefits of completing a level in a game are a motivating factor in the attention keeping process. For example, PokГ©mon, with its many generations of games forces the player to stay focused on the game. The turn based battles cause players to have to pay attention to what attacks their opponent has already used, the matchup of the battling PokГ©mon s types, and a variety of other factors. Michael Jackson Thriller Song Interpretation Ali Alansari IB Language Literature, Block B Thriller Song Lyric interpretation script Mrs. Codita October 11th, 2014 My name is Ali Alansari, and the reason why I chose this song is because I always used to like this song since I was a child and now I really want to know the real meanings towards this song. Michael Jackson wrote thriller. This song was written in 1984, and zombies represent fears in the American consciousness. Also in that time, there was the great recession, which included poor communities, unemployment, AIDS crisis and racial polarization. The fact that this song was for terrorizing the neighborhood, it allows the audience to imagine connections for social and political issues. In this text, it is about Michael Jackson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These techniques include using personification, visual imagery and the use of a anaphora. Firstly, Jackson presents the audience personifications in this text. The personification in You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it/ You try to freeze as horror looks you tight between the eyes (Line 3/4) shows the non human characteristics of horror and terror. This relates to how nightmares can be a part of reality which brings frightened feelings, because it shows how terror can get the audience, and it confirms how it can be real since the girl is screaming but terror is getting her. The diction of horror looks you tight between the eyes shows the audience the terrifying scenes how it is really occurring, which bring the audience a feeling of fright. Also, the use of visual imagery plays a big part in conveying the spooky images to the audience. There are various visual imageries in this text. Jackson shows the audience how Night creatures call and the dead start to walk in their masquerade/ There s no escapin the jaws of the alien this time (Line 19/20) visualizes the scary night creatures walking to the girl and that she has no space to escape. This implies that Jackson is frightening the girl by proving the horrific scenes. The diction of There s no escapin shows a casual register to show the audience how this song is shown scary and casually. The theme of the reality of having horrific scene is demonstrated by this visual imagery, putting an image to the audience s mind the reality of what is happening to the girl. Finally, the use of anaphora in You hear the door slam and realize there s nowhere left to run/ You feel the cold hand and wonder if you ll ever see the sun (Line 10/11) portrays how the girl is locked in horror and she has no freedom. ... However, what does this statement actually mean? In this essay, I hope to break down both concepts of internal communication and successful organisations and then conduct an in depth analysis on the relationship between internal communication and successful organisations. What is internal communication? Literature Reivew According to Bruce Berger, Internal communication represents the communication and the interactions among the members of an organization, being defined as a way of describing and explaining a corporation. Internal communication targets the internal members of an organization, including the superiors, the collaborators and the subordinates. (Kovacs Reka and Anca Borza, 2012, 613 630) This means that internal communications is crucial for creating unity and harmony within an organisation. Through internal communication, employees of an organisation can exchange information, establish relationships, form systems of values, create an organisational culture, harmonize activities, establish collaboration for the achievement of goals and develop formal and informal networks. (Kovacs Reka and Anca Borza, 2012, 613 630) Another way to look at internal communications would be to define it as a strategic organisational communications and they differ from one organisation to another. A case that a lawyer thought would go one way could completely turn and do the opposite. This leads to the question of whether a case should be taken to trial or not. It is because of this that plea bargaining is often put to use. Plea bargaining is beneficial to the prosecutor as well as the defense attorney and the defendant. Plea bargains are based upon the mutual interest of all parties involved and they can occur for a variety of reasons. One reason a plea bargain may occur is because a prosecutors evidence is not as strong as they would like. Prosecutors want their cases to be as strong as possible so that they can expect a win. If they are unsure of what the outcome may be, they prefer to find a way to avoid going to trial. Plea bargains offer prosecutors a speedy conviction without committing to the necessities of a trial. However, this does not only help the prosecutor. The accused may find reduced charges, reduced defense costs, and sometimes even a shorter sentence than originally planned.... The Futility Of Dreaming By John Steinbeck Sydney Pamela Larter Mr. Sweeney English ENG1D: Block 7 February 5, 2015 The Futility of Dreaming As the late Osho believed, And desires are never here and now they are non existential. They are just mental, in the mind. And they cannot be fulfilled because their very nature is to move into the future. John Steinbeck s novella, Of Mice and Men explores this theme of futile desire through various relationships and character complexes. This fictional story begins by introducing two men with a relationship built from the very foundations of love. As the novel progresses, we begin questioning innate truths. Steinbeck uses his literary prowess to entwine us within a story of loneliness, loss and morality. The characters hopes and dreams, regardless of outcome, are a mechanism of survival and a desire to lead something other than an otherwise inconsequential existence. Steinbeck presents dreams as a tool to aid the men of the ranch s contentment. They give a sense of purpose, a reward for long days of hard labor on the ranch. The idea of dreams prolonging survival and happiness is best portrayed by the dream and relationship shared by Lennie and George. Their mutual dream to live offa the fatta the lan (Steinbeck 57) brings to light their need of other s companionship to alleviate isolation and loneliness, and to make their dream seem more realistic. • 22. Existentialism in Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis and The... Existentialism in The Metamorphosis and The Hunger Artist Existentialism is a philosophy dealing with man s aloneness in the universe. Either there is no God or else God stands apart from man, leaving him free will to make his own choices. From this basic idea of man being alone in an uncertain and purposeless world, many related ideas have developed. One great worry of existentialist writers is that life is becoming too complicated and too impersonal. People become more and more involved with their work, which is taking them away from their friends, family, and culture. However, these provide the only meaning that life could possibly have. One author prominently known for his work with existential ideas was Franz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kafka also uses the existential idea that man s fate is sometimes beyond man s control. In his stories, chance or destiny rules man s life. Gregor could not control his metamorphosis, just as he cannot control his new legs which waved helplessly before his eyes (1). The hunger artist s fate is to die of starvation, since as he says, I have to fast, I can t help it (8). Gregor dies; the artist dies. Their lack of control over their fates emphasizes man s helplessness and forlornness, to use Sartre s term. For both Gregor and the hunger artist, work leads from dehumanization to death. Their deaths illustrate another theme of existentialist writing: that man, though alone, cannot survive by himself. He needs to interact as a member of society in order to give meaning to his life. Man needs mankind in order to be alive. Before his metamorphosis, Gregor was very much a loner. He got up at four every morning to travel all over the region to sell products, and he didn t have the time or the opportunity to make lasting friendships. Nor did he really try. In his free time, he read or did artwork, neither of which required anyone else. Nevertheless, Gregor s employers did not understand that he was trying to do a good job. Research has not only provided more insight into these type of injuries but has also allowed for advancements in the recovery process. Along with increasing awareness during the recovery process following an injury, research has also been applied to the development and improvement of equipment in an effort to prevent injuries before they occur. The Sports Medicine field focuses on helping athletes improve their athletic performance, recover from injury, and prevent future injuries. This fast growing healthcare field affords healthcare workers who specialize in Sports Medicine the opportunity to help many non athletes as well as athletes. In order to be seen and treated by a Sports Medicine physician, the patient is not required to be any type of athlete. • 32. Employee Violations In Employment Law The Employment law regulates the relationship between the employer and employee so they can engage in fair and ethical employment practices. It is especially important for employers to know and refer to employment law in the context of employment. This is because the courts are more likely to protect employees from unfair treatments as they generally believe employees are in weaker bargaining position than their employer. I.What employment violations has the employer committed, if any? According to the case, Sally found out her employer unilaterally changed her job without providing reasonable notice of the change. In Canada, employers generally have the right to make changes to the terms of employment if it is reasonably necessary and employees have the right to be notified and consulted before any changes were imposed. In other words, one party cannot impose a change to the terms of contract without first notifying and securing the consent of the other party (Yates,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Can Sally sue for damages? If Sally can sue for damages, what might the court consider when assessing damages? According to Yates (2013), when an employer demotes or makes unilateral changes to the nature of employment, this constitutes a constructive dismissal. This proves that Sally was constructively dismissed. Therefore, she can treat the contract as wrongfully terminated and sue for wrongful dismissal. In considering Sally s case, the court would apply the same test they have established in 2015 to determine a constructive dismissal for the case of Potter v. New Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission (2015 SCC 10 (CanLII)) : a)Extent of the unilateral change: Whether the employer breached an express or implied term of the employment contract in a way that substantially altered the essential terms of the contract; or b)Intention: The employer s conduct would lead a reasonable person in the same situation to conclude that the employer no longer intended to bound by employment ... The thesis has presented a new procedure for solving the Multi Area Economic Dispatch problem using MFO algorithm. The procedure is shown to be very fast, robust, and extensible to include a large class of utility problems. 3.6SUGGETION FOR FUTURE WORK The MAED problem is much complex due to the practical operational constraints such as valve point loading effect(VPL) ,prohibited operating zones (POZ) along with tie line power flow limit constraints, which make the system highly nonlinear. Therefore it requires a powerful optimization approach to solve these types of problems. The project successfully applied MFO for the solution of classical MAED problem with security consideration and without security consideration. The aims of the project were to introduce renewable energy to a classical MAED problem and minimize the production costs while taking into consideration the transmission lines, tie lines and bus voltage constraints. The proposed algorithm was successfully tested on a five area system. Introduction of security aspects to the classical MAED problem resulted in an increase in the total production cost of power. Moth Flame optimization (MFO) Algorithm, is applied for constrained optimization and engineering design problems. Summary Of Extending The Ethical Wealth Of Nations According to Dr. Jennings Extending the Ethical Wealth of Nations , the whole article twines around the intrinsic worth of values and institutions. This reminds me about two Chinese philosopher in the traditional Chinese Confucianism, Mencius (372 289 BC) and XunZi (310 235 BC). Both of them had a theories about intrinsic value, which have huge effect in Chinese institutions, but in poles apart. Mencius takes the view that the nature of being is goodness but Xunzi believes it is evil. Mencius advocated the theory of original goodness in human nature. He considered that human nature is good, naturally concerned about the fate of others, and includes the sympathy and empathy. This takes concerted action to the altruism and the ethical values in the paper. On the contrast, Xunzi argues that human tends to evil in the theory of original evil of human nature, and being evil is easier than being good. Indulging this leads to contention and strife, and the sense of modesty and yielding with which one was born disappears. One is born with feelings of envy and hate, and, by indulging these, one is led into banditry and theft, so that the sense of loyalty and good faith with which he was born disappears. In this case, a woman was reported missing after she went to work and never returned home. After the police discovered a bloody pillow case in the woods, near her house, they linked it to the missing pillow case in the woman s room, and then realized that they had a murder case on their hands. A mystery in the case was that one of the local neighbors had mentioned seeing the woman leave through the front door of her house but the evidence says different, so investigators had to find out who left the house that morning. This means even after a week the blood has been cleaned up, luminol can still detect it. Also after applying luminol, the area needs to be darkened so that blue glow can be emitted. The iron from the hemoglobin in the blood causes luminol to glow, so a blue glow is produced when the solution is sprayed where there is blood. Only a tiny amount of iron is required to catalyze the reaction (Helmenstine, 2012). The use of luminol revealed that there were blood stains on the bed sheets and suspected that the woman was killed in her bedroom and that she did not go to work that day or leave the house. Upon further analysis of the woman s bedroom, the forensic officers used a chemical called amido black. Amido black is a protein dye that is sensitive to the protein in blood and when it makes contact stains a latent blue black colour. All Children follow very similar pattern of growth and development. For e.g. Physical development begins with baby holding its head followed by turning over, crawling, sitting and eventually walking by the age of 12 18months. Most children follow these steps of physical development, some start walking before their first birthday while some may start walking independently when they are 18months old or even later. Similarly, communicational development begins when baby cries to seek attention or convey discomfort, then gradually responds carer with sounds like coo , ooh , etc. At the age of 9months child starts saying simple words like ... If a child s motor skills are not developed then he/she could face problems with writing, handling equipment and other motor skills. Sequence of development also guides professional at what rate an individual development is expected. If a milestone is not achieved, then they have to identify the causes of delays. The P 40, of course, had an even greater advantage in diving speeds, with well over 400 miles per hour attainable with no risk of damage to the planes strong airframe. Early Zero s couldn t hit 350 miles per hour without the risk of damage to their plane. To get back on topic of the P 40 s design, the P 40 s rudder had red, white, and blue stripes. The book takes us on a remarkable expedition in which it will show us our inner fish, reptile and monkey. The author of Your Inner Fish, Neil Shubin, discovered a missing link , a fossil he called Tiktaalik. Tiktaalik shows features that connect the evolutionary gap between fishes and land living animals. Shubin demonstrates in the first four chapters how different branches of science prove that many organs within numerous creatures, ancient or living, are deeply related. This idea, if enacted, has the potential to harm the economy of many nations, because the working hours would be cut in factories that employ thousands of employees, but it also can allow for scientists and engineers to come up with a plan that could prevent/lower the amount of risk we have environmentally from being impacted by global warming and its effects. It has the potential to harm the economy of other nations, because shortening the amount of hours that their factories are allowed to run can raise production time and cost this would lead to the increase in price of items, because it would take more money and time to produce these goods rather than if they were able to work for a longer amount of time and produce more goods in this time period. So eventually they go around the neighborhood and get a few houses playing doorbell ditching. When they approached their last house that owner caught them. Suzzie explained to him that they were playing pranks because they were bored and the neighbor told them he did the same thing when he was younger so he understands. It would be different if Suzzie and her friends were bored and they decided to torture a cat for the fun of it. At a young age, it was normal to do little pranks such as doorbell ditching or throwing water balloons at people. Those actions are not considered mischievous behavior. On the other hand, Suzzie and her friends torturing a cat could be an early sign of juvenile delinquency. To help eliminate crimeI believe we need to first target the juveniles. It starts at an early age and continues from there. What exactly is juvenile delinquency? It is a violation of the law committed by a juvenile and not punishable by death or life imprisonment. We must first decipher the difference between a child being a child and playing little pranks and a child doing something that is punishable by law. Don t get me wrong, sometimes children do stuff that they know they re not supposed to do and it takes that one time for them to get caught and get in trouble by an adult or an officer. Sometimes them getting in trouble is just an adult explaining to them that their actions are wrong. Every child has had that happen to them when they were younger. Early detection of juvenile delinquency can sometimes help stop a major problem before it happens. But how are you able to detect this behavior in a child? According to the NCJRS, they have identified a few warning signs that are of importance to pay attention to. These signs are: Disruptive behavior that is either much more frequent or more severe than what other children in the same age group display. Disruptive behavior, such as temper tantrums and aggression, that persists beyond the terrible twos and threes. • 49. Summary Of Blue Collar Brilliance Blue Collar Brilliance There is an expectation for this generation to attend college after graduating high school. There is also a stigma held by those higher on the social ladder, one that the less educated blue collar workforce is inferior to others. In Mike Rose s essay Blue Collar Brilliance he compares the level of education to the experience gained through challenges, and contends that blue collar employees are of equal intelligence to higher educated employees. This article is written to challenge the misconceptions that other classes hold about the amount of education that a person receives, and how It affects their work ethic. Through the use of pathos, ethos, and logos Mike Rose forges a connection with the audience to convey this message. Mike Rose utilizes personal experience by telling the story of his mother, a waitress, and how she had to utilize intellectual skills in her workplace similarly to how students do in college. He uses this experience to almost profile his mother and his uncle Joe, to use them as examples for his statement that even those who don t have formal education learn the important kind of intelligence in the workplace. He indicates that we, as a society, assume that those with less time in school are less intelligent. In this text, Rose eloquently utilizes pathos to create an emotional connection towards the blue collar workforce. Rose also writes about his family members to try to establish a connection between readers and his memories, so that the reader could relate and begin to understand the requirements of such careers. These experiences demonstrate how passionate workers like Rosie and uncle Joe are about their careers, and how their passion encourages them to seek further ways to learn and improve. Throughout his article Rose vividly recalls the stories for the audience, Rosie took customers orders, pencil poised over pad, while fielding questions about the food. She walked full tilt through the room with plates stretching up her left arm and two cups of coffee somehow cradled in her right hand (Rose 3). I started my walk on the climate trail that was referred to me by the climate watch website. The park offered us around 35km of walking trails. Before I began my project I made sure the maps leading us to the trail was printed out the day before. After walking around for about 40 minutes I encountered the first species which is the Australian Magpie. The reason this particular species was picked was because, during the time I was walking I found it difficult to record sightings of the other bird species that climate watch was interested in, therefore I decided to observe the Australian Magpie which was common in all parts of Australia. The species data was collected via the guide of the climate watch website. The birds built was strong and sturdy, and it was perching on a nearby branch that was in eye view. • 53. My Political Ideology My New Political Ideology A population s views on political issues may change as different circumstances occur each day. The environment around us has a powerful influence on the decisions that we produce and the views that we as American citizens choose to hold. After a semester in political science class my views and my political ideology have altered. Today I will explain how political science class has influenced my political ideology. When this class initially began I was sure, without a doubt I was a conservative. As the semester progressed I discovered the reasons I was considered conservative. The town a person grows up in, financial status, social class, age, gender and the race of the individual have a strong influence on a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I stated in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our country. Although there are people that will argue that school should not be mandatory if the family must send there children to work to provide money for housing, I would have to disagree. Since there are social programs for providing food and shelter, education should not be neglected. When education is neglected, those children have a chance of becoming burdens to society rather than benefits. School develops leaders and followers of society, and provides a structure for those who may need it in their lives. After a semester in political science class, I found that many of the liberals in my class did not know very much about the issues that made them liberals. Since the class is an introduction to the American political system, that fact did not bother me as much as it normally would. Since the issue of media was hot topic to talk about, I thought that most of the students in my class had realized the medias bad reviews of conservatives. Unfortunlty that was not the case, Most of students denied that the media was liberal until proven to them. I cannot blame the students in my class for the things they have been taught by television. A lack of education is to blame for that problem. By now you know that media is one of the issues that I have added to my new paper. I found that the media has made many individuals ... • 55. Power Ranger Research Paper When I was four years old, I wanted to be a Power Ranger. I remember every Saturday morning watching them fighting and defeating their foes. My favorite character was the Black Ranger. I loved his vitality, his charisma, and his zeal. As a young boy, he showed me that anything could be accomplished or overcome through teamwork. Through him, I learned what it meant to accomplish a goal and set new ones. Power Rangers was a way I could escape from what I saw every day in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Outside of my living room and on the streets, I saw the same villains in my favorite TV show. However, these villains were not defeated as easily. There were no Power Rangers to save the people in my neighborhood. I was born in a city that had more bullet shells on the ground than the city s population, San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It was a place where lying, stealing, and cheating were at the top of everyone s agenda. These were the three essentials to survive day in and day out. I remember on my walks to school I would see kids just like me collecting plastic bottles and metal cans to sell for scraps at the recycling plant. Sometimes I would join them because I thought that was what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every day, I constantly remind myself of all the sacrifices my parents made for me.
