Jeremiah 17-9 Research Paper
The root of man s condition is reported in Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and it
is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?
God as spoken through His prophet Jeremiah is for all intents and purposes exactly correct when
speaking of human nature. How quickly man would rather hates others than love them. Mankind is
quick to go to war over oil fields, land, and down right hate for one and another. This inescapable truth
is seen in today s headlines which are filled with atrocities of man against man.
With today s social media, some people are so blood thirsty that they see horrid be headings and mass
murder scenes as entertainment. Further, there are those that make their own videos of daredevil acts,

fathers killing mothers. With our technological age we have violent cyber bullying, with some so
ridiculed and abused that they find the only way out is to commit suicide. Unquestionably our society
has become victim to vicious and deplorable pedophiles that torture, molest, and even kill our precious
children. Leaving behind bereaving families with no answers. In the final analysis, these types of

The Franco-German War
One country in Europe had land and power in which other countries could not withstand, Germany.
But France, on the other hand, wanted back their territory which Germany took, attempted to
overthrow the unconquered Germans, and was not victorious. When France began to mobilize their
troops, there were horses without harnesses, canons without ammunition, and machine guns with men
who had no idea how to use them ( Franco German War ). The Germans knew about their power and
took the advantage of many countries at the time. Many wars were affected by the snowball effect ,
where after one problem, there are many other drawbacks following the problem before; for instance,
the Franco Prussian War. The history between France and Germany displayed many strengths and
weaknesses which led to the inflation within the government, to proceeding to very important land lost

Midwest Research Paper
ay
There are many different great places to live in the United States. Each region of the US is very
different from the others. My favorite region is the Midwest. I like the Midwest for many reasons, but
mainly because it contains my hometown. States in the Midwest vary from South Dakota, to Kansas,
to Wisconsin, and Ohio. Illinois, my home state, is also in the Midwest. South Dakota has a well
known tourist attraction. This is known as Mount Rushmore. Kansas is known as a pretty barren state.
Along with Illinois, they have lots of agriculture. The main crops in the Midwest include corn,
soybeans, and wheat. Wisconsin is called the Badger state, but is known for the large amount of dairy
produced there. Supposedly, there are more cows in Wisconsin than there are people. There are also
several big cities in the Midwest. The biggest city is Chicago, Illinois, which is situated right along
Lake Michigan. Indianapolis, Columbus, and Detroit are the next largest cities in the Midwest.
Detroit, Michigan is home to automobiles where over one million cars are produced every year.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin is the last of the largest cities in the Midwest and is famous for brewing. This
would explain why their major league baseball team is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I like the Midwest because it has such a great diversity. You can go be a farmer and grow crops or be a
farmer and raise dairy cows. If you are more of the city slicker type and don t like to live rural, than
you can go live in the big cities such as Chicago. If you like to fish there are many places to go to or
you could visit any of the five largest freshwater lakes in the world. There is also lots of hunting in the
Midwest. The list could go on and on but I m afraid I would bore you too much. I enjoy the Midwest
for the reasons stated above and because it s where I grew up most my life. I don t see a reason to
move, so if I could choose I would probably stay here for the rest of my

Macroscopic Evidence Of A Chemical Reaction Lab Report
1. What type of macroscopic evidence for chemical change did you observe during this experiment?
Give at least three different examples. (15 points) The main evidence of chemical change in this lab is
the change in color, production of gas, and the production of precipitate. These reactions can be seen
from just a little bit of reaction all the way up to a complete change of the entire sample tested. Some
samples of those tested in this experiment which showed the chemical reaction were the baking
soda/ammonia mixture, the Epson salt and baking soda mixture as well as the food coloring mixed
with the baking soda and bleach. 2. Which reactions, if any, do you believe showed no evidence of
chemical change? Justify your reasoning. (15 points) There was one combination that did not have any
reaction when tested. This combination was the MgSO4 and CH3COOH. The reason that the reaction
did not happen is because they created a mixture and not a chemical change. 3. ... Show more content

When two solutions combine and a solid substance is formed, this solid is called a precipitate. In your
experiments, if the clear reactant solutions you combined together formed a cloudy product, then a
precipitate (solid substance) was formed. Describe the precipitates (according to color and clarity) and
the substances that formed them. (18 points) The combinations that formed precipitates in my
experiment were MgSO4 and NH3, MgSO4 and Na2CO3, Na2CO3 and CH3COOH. The two most
obvious formation of the precipitate were the combinations with the MgSO4. The MgSO4 and NH3
solution became very opaque and the MgSO4 and Na2CO3 turned from liquid to a full solid white
substance. The Na2CO3 and CH3COOH did not have as strong of a reaction, however, the
precipitates were able to be visualized with in the clear

The Symbolism of Death in Alistair McLeod’s The Lost Salt...
In Alistair McLeod s collection of short stories the Lost Salt Gift of Blood; death seems to be a
constant companion. Death is important and perhaps even symbolic in this collection of short stories.
It is important because it has the power to affect people and relationships, invokes freedom and even
predetermines ones future, through the death of animal s people and the impending death of others.
The first story In the Fall consists of 2 deaths, the death of a horse and a death of chickens both with
very different effects on people. The first death was the death of a horse who was a very close
companion or more like an old family friend to the family but with age Scott the horse had grown old

relationship changes. My father puts his arms around my mother s waist and he does not move it as I
have always seen her do. (p. ) In this story 2 different deaths cause 2 totally different impacts on
people and relationships within the story. In another story by McLeod called The Boat the death of the
father liberates his spirit and frees his son from obligated responsibility. When the father dies his own
spirit is freed from his nagging wife, she always nagged on him because ... he was a failure as a
husband and father who retained none of his own. (p. ) His wife was controlling and he was burdened
by her; dying in a sense liberated him. The father s dying also freed the son from obligated
responsibility. The son felt he had to stay because he loved his father very much and he thought it was
...very much braver to spend a life doing what you really do not want rather then selfishly following
forever your own dreams and inclinations. (p. ) After the father s death the son was free to return to his
own life and follow his own dreams. In the story The Road to Rankings Point death predetermines a
young mans future. The young man Calum, has only been given a few months to live. He was living
in Toronto but decided to go home to Cape Breton to live with his grand mother who is also unsure of

The Florida Conference Of Seventh Day Adventists Essay
A Storybranding Analysis of the Florida Conference of Seventh Day Adventists
The early Adventist Church emerged from a climate of religious revival in the Northeastern United
States , (Lechleitner, 2013). Its founder was the late William Miller, (Slick, n.d.). The Church was
founded based on the idea of the Second Coming of Jesus, (Church, 2013). The Seventh Day
Adventism is a Christian faith with multiple fundamental beliefs such as the Sabbath. The Sabbath is
the day in which God decided to rest after creating the Earth. For the Seventh Day Adventists, the
Sabbath is Saturday, as God rested on the Seventh Day of the week. Ellen G. White, a woman
considered one of the founding members of the Church and a prophetess, developed another
fundamental belief of how husbands should treat their wives as equal, the way they were created to be
, (Banks, 1992). As we can see, women play an important role in this doctrine.
As the Seventh Day Adventist Church grew, they developed Conferences around the World. For the
purpose of this study, we will look into the Florida Conference. Florida Conference of Seventh day
Adventists is an unincorporated, nonprofit organisation which serves as the administrative body for its
sisterhood of churches with an emphasis on evangelism, nurturing constituents, and operating a
system of schools , (Adventist, n.d.). The Florida Conference covers 57 counties of the 67 in the State
of Florida, it also manages 206 churches, 56 companies, and at least 33

A Personal Note On Negations Skills

As the business world becomes increasingly dynamic; no longer restricted within borders and
boundaries, it now intertwines like a spiders web in many ways, whilst content changes take place at
an increasing pace; spurred primarily by globalization, increased economic volatility, the internet
boom and constant innovations. To thrive in this increasingly dynamic environment, a leader must
have a multitude of diverse skills. One vital skill that is key in this ever evolving world of ours is,
good negations skills. Negations skills are not only useful in one s profession, however they are used

A sales representative approached us, we advised him of what we are interested in. We sat down and
started discussing what we wanted as extras and started the negotiation process. My husband did his
research prior to coming into the showroom and had an idea of what would ideally be a good price for
this vehicle. The showroom Pilot, had everything we were looking for, from colour to all of the extras.
Our kids started getting restless, there is just so much fun to be had in pretending to drive a car. As I
went to entertain them, my father in law and husband took over the negations (this is never a good
combination). My father in law, who is East Indian, even though he has spent over 30 plus years in
Canada, still negotiates as if he was still in India. Our sales person was also from India.
My father in law started with the lowball tactic (Lewicki, Saunders Barry, 2014), which was a price
that was ridiculously low. The sales person then took that offer to his manager, he returned with a
counter offer that was about five hundred dollars less than the listed price. This back and forth
continued for quite some time. The kids were getting even more restless, I advised that we should
leave now and come back some other time without the kids. The sales associate, became more
aggressive and started with the snow job tactic (Lewicki, Saunders Barry, 2014), inundating both my

Film Adaptation Of Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a novel written by Fitzgerald who is an American writer who has excelled in
depicting mid 1920s America with all its noise and fizzy images. The fact that The Great Gatsby is
considered part of the literary canon that is widely read and acclaimed all over the world makes the
task of transforming such written work of art into a living movie a highly challenging matter.
However, Luhrman and Peace manages to create the essence and the spirit of Fitzgerald s America
through their movie adaptation in 2013.As a matter of fact , the Great Gatsby has included and
excluded a lot of details in Fitzgerald novel which is regarded by some critics as a merit and by others

The contradictions in his character becomes extremely apparent as he comments .This is obvious
when he describes himself as tolerant and nonjudgmental at the same time he views himself as
morally privileged ,having better sense of decencies (Fitzgerald) than most other people. In the novel ,
Fitzgerald makes a disguised reference to Nick as the scribe in the opening paragraphs of chapter one.
Moreover, he mentions that Gatsby is the man who gives his name to this book (Fitzgerald) but he
does not state this clearly or directly. Breanne L.Heldman mentions in his article that like the novel ,
the Luhrman 2013 version of The Great Gatsby keeps Nick Carraway ,who is Tobey Maguire , the
narrator and the author of the book. Unlike the novel, Luhrman depicts Nick writing the book from a
sanitarium after being subjected to medical analysis. The movie does not miss the chance of
constantly reminding the reader that Nick is a writer by using the technique of flashing forward. In the
end of the film, Nick appears to be finalizing his manuscript by adding The Great to the title after he
has finished writing .As a matter of fact , Luhrman and Peace diversion from Fitzegrald original text

Race Relations Between African Americans and Whites...
Following what was arguably the most turbulent time in American history; Reconstruction had far
reaching effects on a number of areas of life in the United States. In the Deep South, one of the
clearest impacts could be seen on racial relations, specifically between whites and newly freed African
Americans. Legally, dramatic changes had been made at the federal level, providing African
Americans with a host of rights that had never been offered them before. It was no wonder, then, that
former slave owners in the South rejected these changes and rights, taking whatever steps necessary to
keep African Americans down. The dramatic changes that took place in terms of race relations

Legally, the passage of the Fifteenth Amendment just a few years after the close of the Civil War,
African American men had the right to vote according to the United States Constitution. However,
racial relations in the south had deteriorated so greatly that even such constitutionally protected
elements of their lives were unable to survive. Whites passed a number of laws designed to
disenfranchise African American men, knowing that without the right to vote, the voices of newly
freed slaves would not be heard. These laws included such measures as literacy tests, poll taxes,
property qualifications, and so called grandfather clauses that denied an individual the right to vote if
their grandfather did not vote himself. Race relations in the south had deteriorated so rapidly that even
something as basic as voting, something that was to be provided to African American men according
to the United States Constitution, was denied them ( The state... , 2011). As individuals living in the
north became increasingly disinterested with the plight of African Americans in the south, a political
change was made, one that would alter the racial relations between whites and blacks for generations.
In 1896, the United States Supreme Court issued a ruling in Plessy v. Ferguson that would set the
stage for continued segregation in the American south with three simple words: separate but equal.
When the Supreme Court ruled that separate facilities for whites and

Persuasive Essay On Cod Fishing
Save the Cod, Save the Fishing Industry
Dating back to the 1600s, Cod fishing has been a major industry in the New England area, with a 5
feet long Sacred Cod hanging inside the Massachusetts State House signifying its importance.
However, fishermen are now facing an unprecedented low stock of Atlantic cod in the Gulf of Maine,
directly impacting marine ecosystem as well as the annual cod landing. In November 2014, regulators
from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) were forced to impose a
temporary ban on cod fishing and discuss possible solutions. Otherwise, the extinction of cod in the
Gulf of Maine will damage the ecosystem irreversibly and the entire cod fishing industry will

Examples of forage fish include sardines, anchovies and herrings. Scientists have shown that catching
forage fish instead of cod is a more sustainable approach. According to research from the University
of British Columbia Fisheries Center, the forage fish population has more than doubled in the past
century (Christensen, 2014). A main cause for the population growth is that human beings are
overfishing forage fish s predators like cod and tuna. When overfishing of cod occurs, herring
population increases naturally due to the reduced effect of trophic cascade. Herrings are very abundant
in the Gulf of Maine and they are not overfished. Furthermore, fishing herring and cod both use mid
water trawling (NOAA, 2015), so fishermen can easily adapt to fishing herring instead of cod, and the
bycatch of other species can be significantly reduced with modified fishing gears (Monterey Bay
Aquarium Seafood Watch, 2015). However, even though herrings are very abundant, we should only
fish them sustainably. Strict regulations based on scientific research need to be implemented in order
to avoid overfishing herring, which can be harmful to the recovery of the cod

Persuasive Essay On The Good Life
The Good Life What is the good life? my friend asked me in a feeble attempt to produce ideas for his
Philosophy paper. Aside from the obvious answer of using material items to generate happiness, the
question drove me consider what made someone s life inherently good. A few days after our
conversation, I read Open Door by Rebecca Solnit. This passage helped me to eventually answer his
question. Throughout Open Door, Solnit defines, exemplifies and reasons, and explores the ideas of
losing one s self in order to achieve the good life. Understanding what it means to lose one s self is
imperative in order to comprehend the rest of this passage. The idea of losing yourself is, a voluptuous
surrender, lost in your arms, lost to the world, utterly immersed in what is present so that its
surroundings fade away (Solnit 16). Taking part in losing yourself will allow you to find answers to
what is unknown to you. The journey to the unknown and the unknown itself are transformative;
however, many individuals do not care for the unknown or are unaware of it. Those who do not care
for the unknown typically fear for what it will bring. In today s society, adults restrict their children to
playing indoors rather than developing an adventurous and imaginative persona outside of the house,
for they believe their children will hurt themselves. Solnit expresses her concern for this generation by
wondering what will come of placing this generation under house arrest (Solnit 7). She

Decolonization Period Of Afric A European Point Of View
Decolonization period in Africa didn t come peacefully in all the countries. Many times the natives
had to get violent in order to achieve their independence. Although the history of this struggle has two
sides, it has always been portrayed through a European point of view. This painted the Africans as
pure savages without truly examining what drove them to commit these violent acts. Europeans have
always bent history to show themselves in a positive manner. One of the battles in which history has
been mainly one sided is the Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya. In this paper I want to explore the true
reasons the revolt started and how the European interpretations of this took away from the real reasons
why ordinary people took part. By seeing what was used in portraying a negative image, I will try to
break down what were the events leading up to it and what hand did the British play. Examining
events that took place after the war had been won by the British. By comparing and contrasting I will
show the double standards and the importance of consistently questioning history and media. The Mau
Mau uprising is said to have started the course of independence for Kenya. Although the movement
started way before, the official date of the uprising is from 1952 through 1960 .It started with the
Kikuyu people in Central Kenya. As the Mau Mau group grew larger it became more and more
violent. Killing not only the Europeans but also anyone suspected of

Essay On The Battle Of The Coral Sea
In World War II there were many new ways that war was fought, from massive air campaigns to the

between the US Navy and the Imperial Japanese Fleet. The Aircraft Carriers in the Pacific Theater
played large roles in major battles between the US and the Japanese so that the side with superior

The Matchmaker Analysis
The golden age of the big budget musical may remain lost to the annals of old Hollywood, some may
argue that classics will always be better than their reimagined counterparts, but this is hardly the case
in all circumstances. The 1969 big screen adaptation of Hello, Dolly! proves that sometimes the
original star power of a cast can be overridden decades later. The 2017 Broadway revival of Hello
Dolly! supports the idea that while people may become accustomed to hearing a song a certain way, a
new interpretation of the materials can lead to blockbuster success. Despite the glitter and grandeur of
the on screen film adaptation s costuming and set design, the 2017 iteration of the musical, based on
Thornton Wilder s play The Matchmaker, shows that big budgets and sweeping landscapes are not
needed; opting to go with garishly bright pastels and impeccable choreography to stir the imaginations
and win the hearts of millions of theatergoers.
Starring Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau, the 1969 film certainly attempted to bring the star
power but hostility that developed between Walter Matthau and Barbra Streisand (TCM) turned into
anything but a love story when presented on the big screen. Both actors shared a mutual dislike that
caused a very clear disconnect onset, where Matthau refused to be in the same room as Streisand
unless they were filming (TCM). In front of the camera, Mathau comes across as a crass old
businessman who cares for no one but himself, while

The Predictions And Effects Of Financial Accounting
Introduction In the main analysis, this essay will describe the predictions and effects of financial
accounting reports to discuss the statement based on the previous answer. In the conclusion, the essay
will explain how the question helps to understand the importance of learning about accounting in its
context. Main Analysis Predictions of Financial Reporting There are four preconditions of financial
accounting reporting. Firstly, there are debates that upheld and against the regulation of financial
accounting. The supporters of the free market technique dispute that there are proprietary economic
incentives for organizations to report accounting information proactively, and forcing accounting
regulation is costly inefficient (Deegan Unerman, 2011). By comparison, the supporters of the pro
regulation viewpoint dispute that regulation is requisite as financial information is a public good , and
users of accounting information are free riders , so organizations will report a lower quantity of
information than socially optimal (Deegan Unerman, 2011). Secondly, various stakeholders have
various viewpoints of the evolution of regulation. According to public interest theory, regulation is
introduced to safeguard the community and regulators attempt to maximize public welfare (Deegan

regulating procedure (Deegan Unerman, 2011). According to private interest theory,

Compare And Contrast The Two Major Carriers Of T And AT T
The two major carriers in my area are T Mobile and AT T. Since I live 30 minutes from a major
metropolitan area and there are swampy areas between me and the metropolitan, I generally do not
benefit from the latest cellular technology. Most of the towers in the area are owned or operated by AT
T or T Mobile. Since T Mobile and AT T use the GSM standard, they can share the same towers and
support each other s customers. AT T and T Mobile have a strong 2G presence in the area. AT T
installed a decent 3G infrastructure about three years ago to handle the increase in the number of
devices sold in the area. T Mobile has skipped the 3G installation in most of my area and moved
directly to 4G LTE installations. There are still very few T Mobile

Similarities Between Invictus And 42
The two movies Invictus and 42, had similar themes to them, just different upbringings. In the movie
Invictus centers around the idea of Nelson Mandela s first year term of being the president of South
Africa. He was elected after the fall of apartheid, which he helping bring an end to and faced a racial
divide between people of South Africa. Mandela then used the sport of rugby to unite everyone. He
convinces Francois Pienaar, captain of the national rugby team, that he can win the World Cup if they
believe. Pienaar took it personal and trained his guys like never before. South Africans came together
from the win of the 1995 World Cup Championship. In the movie 42, Branch Rickey, also known as
Mr. Rickey, signed Jackie Robison to play for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nelson Mandela was adopted after his father died to a high rank family that taught leadership roles
within the tribe. His commitment to politics grew stronger when racial classification and segregation
were introduced. Mandela spent twenty seven years in jail because he was conspiring to overthrow the
state and sentenced to life in prison in the Rivonia Trial. President Klerk was elected and lifted the ban
and released Mandela from prison. He fought against the apartheid state, leading different campaigns
against it. Mandela fought with his words, however Jackie Robison fought with his actions. Mandela
lived in a place where there was primarily a lot of black people there, where as Jackie lived in a place
where there was mostly whites. Jackie Robison broke the baseball s color barrier by being the first
black person to play in Major League Baseball. Robison changed the way Americans of all races
thought. He criticized the slow pace of baseball integration and objected to the Jim Crow practices in
the Southern states where most clubs held spring training. Robinson led other ballplayers in urging
baseball to use its economic power to desegregate Southern towns, hotels and

Essay about The Media as a Mirror of the Asian-American Women
Imagine a distant post apocalyptic future in which a group of researchers discovers a stack of DVDs of
20th and 21st century Hollywood movies of Asian American actresses. After watching those movies,
what might the researchers conclude about the characteristics of Asian American women in the
movies? Certainly, they will view Asian American women as sexual and erotic objects of the society
that white men can score with ease. Why do I assume they will think that way? The answer is a
simple, yet controversial one: mostly, the media, as the history proves, portrays Asian American
women either as erotic sex slaves of white men or as insidious personalities who lure their prey into a
trap with their sex appeal. If we look into the history, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the Asian females lost their sense of individuality and diversity of what it means to be
Chinese. As Connie accents, the stereotypical representation of Asian women increased during the US
involvement with the Philippines wars, Japan and China in World War II, and more recently, the
Korean and Vietnamese Wars because the American soldiers saw Asian women as prostitutes and
sexual objects who provide rest and recuperation from the war zones (as cited in
sitemaker.umich.edu). As time passed and media came into existence, stereotypical names, such as
Dragon Lady and China Doll, of Asian American women began to represent the Asian American
women as sexual and erotic objects in the media. Dragon Lady is a dangerous and seductive woman
whose nature is belligerent and domineering (yourdictionary.com). Historical roots of the Dragon
Lady date back to the late 1800s when in the imperial China, the empress, Tzu hsi, suffered the
Dragon Throne, a term used to identify the removal of an emperor of the imperial China (asian

who had arranged the poisoning, strangling, beheading, or forced suicide of anyone who had ever

Grit By Angela Angele Duckworth Analysis
Being Grit and Growth Mindset is the Key to Success Angela Lee Duckworth states: Grit is related
because part of what it meant to be gritty is to be resilient in the face of failure or adversity. As she
said, grit is being positive to response failure. Angela Lee Duckworth is an American author. In the
article Grit, which is written is written by Angela Lee Duckworth in 2003. She introduces her research
that shows the relationship between grit and achievement, and the importance of helping students
develop grit. By reading the article The Significance of Grit, it was touched me deeply. For me, I am
Chinese, but my family moved to Kazakhstan. For those unknown country, language, culture I was
very baffled, but I overcome those difficulties; therefore being grit and having growth mindset lead me
to success. In the article The Significance of Grit she states grit has two components; passion and
perseverance. Passion means a strong feeling or emotion to someone s job they are doing.
Perseverance means no matter how difficult it is people are keep trying doing it, and never give up.
We can read the article The Significance of Grit that The most successful people in life are both
talented and gritty in whatever they ve chosen to do (Duckworth p17) Then she mentioned about when
people emphasized talent; will become nothing. I totally agree with her. When people make an effort
plus talent, they can succeed. When I was the first semester at Irvine Valley College, I

The Military Installation Of America s 21st Century Wars
This is not what war is supposed to look like. That is my first thought upon arriving at MacDill Air
Force Base, Florida, on March 11, 2010. We stop at a small red roofed gatehouse with a single beamed
electric post. The quiet entrance of this base, with its red leafed palms, towering oaks, and rows of
citrus trees, set on a 6,000 acre peninsula, has the appearance of an idyllic beach resort. The wooden
gatehouse is neither substantial nor imposing. It does not hint of Fortress America nor would it pass
the minimum post 9/11 standards of perimeter security. Its diminutive scale is far out of proportion to
the consequential institutions on the other side. For me, the disparity is jarring. Small dark lettering at

Argumentative Essay On Antidepressants
Antidepressant Prescriptions
More than 17 million Americans have depression. Depression is much more than grieving or the blues
. It s a serious illness that can take a terrible toll on individuals and families says the Mayo Clinic
Health Center. In reality the effect of antidepressants is not that much, but it bases on the certain
person and their lifestyle such as sleeping habits, mood, etc. However many have benefited from
antidepressants and lives have changed for the better. Yet some have had no effects. Therefore,
antidepressants should not be prescribed for children diagnosed with depression. Medication can
relieve symptoms in most people with depression, and it s become the first line of treatment for most
types of the disorder. (par. 41 ). And the extra benefit of antidepressants was even less than we saw
when we analyzed only published studies. Scientists say in the article The Depressing News About
Antidepressants. (par. 8). One reason why antidepressants should not be prescribed is that people
could get used to taking those specific drugs, decreasing their effectiveness and increasing the
likelihood of reliance or addiction. If patients take medications too long, they might get too used to
them over time and eventually increase their dosage without consulting their doctors. If the
overmedication continued, patients might eventually take too much of their medication, leading to an
overdose. Many drugs should not be prescribed in case of patients trying to seek more medication
without professional assistance.
Many people experience side effects from taking medication that they are prescribed for mental
illnesses. The article Depression it is announced that medication and psychotherapy can take 4 to 8
weeks to have an effect. The delay can actually increase depression and risk of suicide(par. 48). Three
quarters of the benefit from antidepressants seems to be a placebo effect says scientists from The
Depressing New About Antidepressants. (par. 4). Most common side effects are fatigue, nausea,
anxiety, irritability, and dizziness. These side effects could impact how many who take the drugs live,
such as molding the rest of their lives around those side effects to make sure they are out of

The Fight-Or-Flight Response
The fight or flight response is a very important reaction of the human body. It can help us decide
whether a situation is suitable to fight back or flee for safety. In many ways the fight or flight response
can be useful in a stressful setting that would be difficult to decide for ourselves. Think of it as a
bodyguard, it protects you when your body is faced with a risky situation. Likewise, it can tell your
brain if a setting is too dangerous to fight in and would be better to just run. The fight or flight
response is a real thing and not an excuse to act cowardly in dangerous situations. Studies have proven

First, a threat or stimuli are perceived by the retina and signals are sent to the brain. Next, the brain
processes the signals and determines whether the threat is real. Then, the adrenal medulla is sent
synapses from the cerebrum and secretes a liquid with high levels of adrenaline called epinephrine.
After that, the secreted adrenaline is mixed with glucose. Next, the adrenaline and glucose are rushed
throughout the bloodstream and to the muscles. The muscles then tense up and are given an extra

The Effects Of Psoriasis On Health Related Quality Of Life
The Effect of Psoriasis on Health Related Quality of Life
Introduction
Psoriasis is a disease that greatly affects a small amount of the population. It is estimated that about 3
5% percent of the population is diagnosed with psoriasis (Yu, 2016; Pg. 1). Psoriasis is defined as a
chronic inflammatory skin disease (Lahousen et al, 2016; Pg. 78). The disease creates, in most cases,
rough dry patches or lesions on the skin surface. Multiple sights on the body can be affected ranging
from the scalp, face, and nails (Wade et al., 2016; Pg. 1). Though the disease largely results in physical
symptoms, many patient s health related quality of life (HRQoL) is affected as well; health related
quality of life is an evaluation of how a person s health affects aspects of life, mainly focusing on
social, psychological and cognitive functions (Gonzalez et al., 2016; Pg. 2). This paper will examine
multiple literatures in order to explore the connection between a patient s health related quality of life
in regards to a diagnoses of psoriasis.
Body Many studies have been done exploring how a patient s health related quality of life is affected
by having psoriasis. HRQoL has been found to be severely affected by a patient s psoriasis (Radulski,
2013; Pg. 32). Having visible lesions on the skin can lead to self confidence problems and self image
destruction. These visible patches can sometimes result in unwelcomed reactions of others (Lahousen
et al., 2016; Pg. 78). Having been described as

The Present Day College Admission Marketplace
The present day college admission marketplace in the United States is part of an extensive historical
evolution. In the 1920s, broadened public interest and the burgeoning of the credit industry led to the
first waves of democratization in the higher education arena (Kimball, 2011). The subsequent
professionalization and a growing pattern of stratification in the admissions marketplace have seen
institutions of all types using increasingly sophisticated mechanisms to attract qualified applicants
(Duffy and Goldberg, 1998). With the release of the first U.S. News World Report rankings in 1983
(Morse, 2008), public perception of college admission significantly shifted and colleges began to
adopt widespread enrollment management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the exception of the eligibility based model which champions entitlement and open access , the
other three models are selective in nature in that students are compared against one another on the
basis of certain criteria before an admissions decision is made. The most common and basic
philosophy adopted by institutions is the performance based model, which judges applicants based on
their demonstrated performance prior to college. This model is advanced through two approaches,
meritocracy and character. The meritocracy approach views acceptance into an institution as a reward
for prior academic achievement, while the character approach focuses on personal qualities such as
resilience and civic virtue (the College Board, 2002). In addition, many colleges also assess students
based on their ability to benefit from higher education. The two approaches under this theme include
the enhancement approach and the mobilization approach. The former is intended to identify and
nurture talent while the latter promotes social and economic mobility (the College Board, 2002).
These approaches attempt to contextualize previous accomplishments in light of the student s
circumstances and accord value to unrealized potential. The final philosophical model evaluates
students based on their ability to contribute to the institution and society if admitted, both in the short
run and long run. In the short run,

Greg Gage
Greg Gage explains that the brain is a fascinating organ. He adds that not much is known about how
the brain works because neuroscience is not being taught in schools. This is because the equipment
needed to study neuroscience is extremely complex and expensive that this research is only completed
at large institutions and major universities. In order to use these tools, one must devote their life and
study for about six years to gain access to these materials. His lab partner and himself brought it upon
themselves to create an affordable, simplified version of this equipment that virtually anybody could
use. They created a company called Backyard Brians that uses DIY neuroscience equipment. He
wanted to put his new technology to use, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schools all across the country claim the main reason for no doing so, as of now, is because they do not
have the proper technology to teach the topic effectively. Fortunately, the technology that Gage has
created is an affordable and efficient solution to the school s dilemma. By teaching basics of the
science, children may have an inclination to study neuroscience in later years, such as college. The
few amount of neuroscientists in the world now can be blamed on schools for not giving baseline
information to students, and therefore not allowing them to become interested neuroscience.
Traditionally, even if one expressed enthusiasm in the topic, it would take years of schooling until one
could even use the tools available for scientists. Twenty percent of the world suffer from a
neurological disorder, and no cure has been found for these diseases. This is partly because of the fact
that not many people study neuroscience and therefore is a lack of information in the field. By using
Gage s new technology in schools to help explain neuroscience, the topic would become more
popular, and because of this, society as a whole could grow to learn more about the study of the brain,
which would benefit everybody in the long

Magnet schools are free public elementary and secondary schools that have a focus theme such as

theme that would interest the student or the parents would like for student to be interested in.
However, for those in lower classes, they will be disheartened to find that low income, ESOL, and
special education students are underrepresented. The admission criteria for magnet schools is so
stringent that it rejects those with failing grades, records of bad behavior, or many absences from
schools. Students who meet the criteria that is usually rejected are those from lower socio economic
classes due to needs not being met. With lack of representation and harsh criteria to meet, it is often
very difficult for students in social classes to meet this criteria and achieve a spot in a magnet school.

Physics Of Kicking A Soccer Ball
The Physics of Kicking a Soccer Ball Alexander Trifu Physics 1000 Professor Terry Arnio Friday,
February 19, 2016 Introduction Soccer is the most prominent game on the planet. Soccer players all
work hard to stay as fit as possible and constantly train to enhance their skill. A large portion of
players don t consider the scientific concept of this amazing sport and the soccer ball itself. I inquired
about the material science of soccer and found some exceptionally fascinating truths that all soccer
players would do well to learn. The themes that I investigated are: What happens when kicking a
soccer ball Does size/weight matter when striking a ball. How a strong step follow through improves
your kick. How soccer players curl and bend a ball and the physics involved. I chose to investigate the
soccer ball because since a young boy soccer has been my obsession and favourite hobby. I also chose
it since I was very intrigued on how to apply scientific methodology to enhance my kicking ability.
What Happens When You Kick a Soccer Ball When you kick a soccer ball, numerous things occur.
The most important is the motion of your leg and the active (or development ) vitality into the ball.
Formula: KE  mv2 In this formula the active vitality breaks even with one portion of the
mass of your leg multi utilized by the speed of your leg, as it hits the ball, squared. Something else
that happens when you kick the ball is that the ball disfigures.

Of Mice And Men Character Development
Character Development, Symbolism, Author s Message, Oh My! Of Mice and Men, it is not just a

Regardless of the shortness in length, though, it is a rather emotional book with quite a few messages
behind the fictional storyline. These messages, however, cannot be discovered right off the bat. To
genuinely absorb the messages the author teaches and genuinely understand the meaning behind them,
one must read the book in its entirety. Steinbeck educates readers about his ideas and messages

animals as well, without realizing why. Eventually, Lennie does learn that what he does is wrong, but
he still does not know what exactly happens to cause his wrongdoing. For example, just like Steinbeck

as he does not recognize his own strength. He accidentally repeated his past mistakes, and injured a

The Signs Of Mania And Depression
Just being aware of the signs of mania and depression can significantly help a loved one who suffers
from bipolar. Knowing what to do in these situations is key, and being supportive goes a long way. In
violent situations, the bipolar individual might need to be medicated or sedated. Jamison speaks
frankly about violent outbursts she s had throughout her life and within her relationships. Both my
manias and depressions had violent sides to them. Violence, especially if you re a woman, is not
something spoken about with ease. Being wildly out of control physically assaultive, screaming
insanely at the top of ones lungs, running frenetically with no purpose or limit, or impulsively trying
to leap from cars is frightening to others and unspeakably terrifying to oneself. In blind manic rages I
have done all of these things, at one time or another, and some of them repeatedly; I remain acutely
aware of how difficult it is to control or understand such behaviors, much less explain them to others.
(Jamison 120). A popular show currently on television that depicts a realistic and accurate account of
bipolar disorder is Homeland. The award winning Showtime cable TV series starring Claire Danes as
Carrie Mathison, a CIA agent with bipolar disorder, tells a spellbinding story of espionage and
counterterrorism in the middle and Far East, but also accurately depicts mental illness as it occurs in
real life. // Her character portrays volatility and unpredictability that often

  • 2. Jeremiah 17-9 Research Paper The root of man s condition is reported in Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? God as spoken through His prophet Jeremiah is for all intents and purposes exactly correct when speaking of human nature. How quickly man would rather hates others than love them. Mankind is quick to go to war over oil fields, land, and down right hate for one and another. This inescapable truth is seen in today s headlines which are filled with atrocities of man against man. With today s social media, some people are so blood thirsty that they see horrid be headings and mass murder scenes as entertainment. Further, there are those that make their own videos of daredevil acts, where the in process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With our technological age we have violent cyber bullying, with some so ridiculed and abused that they find the only way out is to commit suicide. Unquestionably our society has become victim to vicious and deplorable pedophiles that torture, molest, and even kill our precious children. Leaving behind bereaving families with no answers. • 3. The Franco-German War One country in Europe had land and power in which other countries could not withstand, Germany. But France, on the other hand, wanted back their territory which Germany took, attempted to overthrow the unconquered Germans, and was not victorious. When France began to mobilize their troops, there were horses without harnesses, canons without ammunition, and machine guns with men who had no idea how to use them ( Franco German War ). The Germans knew about their power and took the advantage of many countries at the time. Many wars were affected by the snowball effect , where after one problem, there are many other drawbacks following the problem before; for instance, the Franco Prussian War. The history between France and Germany displayed many strengths and weaknesses which led to the inflation within the government, to proceeding to very important land lost that was owned by the French, as ... • 4. Midwest Research Paper ay There are many different great places to live in the United States. Each region of the US is very different from the others. My favorite region is the Midwest. I like the Midwest for many reasons, but mainly because it contains my hometown. States in the Midwest vary from South Dakota, to Kansas, to Wisconsin, and Ohio. Illinois, my home state, is also in the Midwest. South Dakota has a well known tourist attraction. This is known as Mount Rushmore. Kansas is known as a pretty barren state. Along with Illinois, they have lots of agriculture. The main crops in the Midwest include corn, soybeans, and wheat. Wisconsin is called the Badger state, but is known for the large amount of dairy produced there. Supposedly, there are more cows in Wisconsin than there are people. There are also several big cities in the Midwest. The biggest city is Chicago, Illinois, which is situated right along Lake Michigan. Indianapolis, Columbus, and Detroit are the next largest cities in the Midwest. Detroit, Michigan is home to automobiles where over one million cars are produced every year. Milwaukee, Wisconsin is the last of the largest cities in the Midwest and is famous for brewing. This would explain why their major league baseball team is ... If you are more of the city slicker type and don t like to live rural, than you can go live in the big cities such as Chicago. If you like to fish there are many places to go to or you could visit any of the five largest freshwater lakes in the world. There is also lots of hunting in the Midwest. The list could go on and on but I m afraid I would bore you too much. I enjoy the Midwest for the reasons stated above and because it s where I grew up most my life. • 5. Macroscopic Evidence Of A Chemical Reaction Lab Report 1. What type of macroscopic evidence for chemical change did you observe during this experiment? Give at least three different examples. (15 points) The main evidence of chemical change in this lab is the change in color, production of gas, and the production of precipitate. These reactions can be seen from just a little bit of reaction all the way up to a complete change of the entire sample tested. Some samples of those tested in this experiment which showed the chemical reaction were the baking soda/ammonia mixture, the Epson salt and baking soda mixture as well as the food coloring mixed with the baking soda and bleach. 2. Which reactions, if any, do you believe showed no evidence of chemical change? Justify your reasoning. (15 points) There was one combination that did not have any reaction when tested. This combination was the MgSO4 and CH3COOH. The reason that the reaction did not happen is because they created a mixture and not a chemical change. 3. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When two solutions combine and a solid substance is formed, this solid is called a precipitate. In your experiments, if the clear reactant solutions you combined together formed a cloudy product, then a precipitate (solid substance) was formed. Describe the precipitates (according to color and clarity) and the substances that formed them. (18 points) The combinations that formed precipitates in my experiment were MgSO4 and NH3, MgSO4 and Na2CO3, Na2CO3 and CH3COOH. The two most obvious formation of the precipitate were the combinations with the MgSO4. The MgSO4 and NH3 solution became very opaque and the MgSO4 and Na2CO3 turned from liquid to a full solid white substance. • 9. The Florida Conference Of Seventh Day Adventists Essay A Storybranding Analysis of the Florida Conference of Seventh Day Adventists The early Adventist Church emerged from a climate of religious revival in the Northeastern United States , (Lechleitner, 2013). Its founder was the late William Miller, (Slick, n.d.). The Church was founded based on the idea of the Second Coming of Jesus, (Church, 2013). The Seventh Day Adventism is a Christian faith with multiple fundamental beliefs such as the Sabbath. The Sabbath is the day in which God decided to rest after creating the Earth. For the Seventh Day Adventists, the Sabbath is Saturday, as God rested on the Seventh Day of the week. Ellen G. White, a woman considered one of the founding members of the Church and a prophetess, developed another fundamental belief of how husbands should treat their wives as equal, the way they were created to be , (Banks, 1992). As we can see, women play an important role in this doctrine. As the Seventh Day Adventist Church grew, they developed Conferences around the World. The showroom Pilot, had everything we were looking for, from colour to all of the extras. Our kids started getting restless, there is just so much fun to be had in pretending to drive a car. Following what was arguably the most turbulent time in American history; Reconstruction had far reaching effects on a number of areas of life in the United States. In the Deep South, one of the clearest impacts could be seen on racial relations, specifically between whites and newly freed African Americans. Legally, dramatic changes had been made at the federal level, providing African Americans with a host of rights that had never been offered them before. It was no wonder, then, that former slave owners in the South rejected these changes and rights, taking whatever steps necessary to keep African Americans down. However, racial relations in the south had deteriorated so greatly that even such constitutionally protected elements of their lives were unable to survive. Whites passed a number of laws designed to disenfranchise African American men, knowing that without the right to vote, the voices of newly freed slaves would not be heard. These laws included such measures as literacy tests, poll taxes, property qualifications, and so called grandfather clauses that denied an individual the right to vote if their grandfather did not vote himself. Race relations in the south had deteriorated so rapidly that even something as basic as voting, something that was to be provided to African American men according to the United States Constitution, was denied them ( The state... , 2011). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examples of forage fish include sardines, anchovies and herrings. Scientists have shown that catching forage fish instead of cod is a more sustainable approach. According to research from the University of British Columbia Fisheries Center, the forage fish population has more than doubled in the past century (Christensen, 2014). A main cause for the population growth is that human beings are overfishing forage fish s predators like cod and tuna. When overfishing of cod occurs, herring population increases naturally due to the reduced effect of trophic cascade. Herrings are very abundant in the Gulf of Maine and they are not overfished. Furthermore, fishing herring and cod both use mid water trawling (NOAA, 2015), so fishermen can easily adapt to fishing herring instead of cod, and the bycatch of other species can be significantly reduced with modified fishing gears (Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, 2015). However, even though herrings are very abundant, we should only fish them sustainably. Strict regulations based on scientific research need to be implemented in order to avoid overfishing herring, which can be harmful to the recovery of the cod ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aside from the obvious answer of using material items to generate happiness, the question drove me consider what made someone s life inherently good. A few days after our conversation, I read Open Door by Rebecca Solnit. This passage helped me to eventually answer his question. Throughout Open Door, Solnit defines, exemplifies and reasons, and explores the ideas of losing one s self in order to achieve the good life. Understanding what it means to lose one s self is imperative in order to comprehend the rest of this passage. The idea of losing yourself is, a voluptuous surrender, lost in your arms, lost to the world, utterly immersed in what is present so that its surroundings fade away (Solnit 16). Taking part in losing yourself will allow you to find answers to what is unknown to you. The journey to the unknown and the unknown itself are transformative; however, many individuals do not care for the unknown or are unaware of it. Those who do not care for the unknown typically fear for what it will bring. In today s society, adults restrict their children to playing indoors rather than developing an adventurous and imaginative persona outside of the house, for they believe their children will hurt themselves. Many times the natives had to get violent in order to achieve their independence. Although the history of this struggle has two sides, it has always been portrayed through a European point of view. This painted the Africans as pure savages without truly examining what drove them to commit these violent acts. Europeans have always bent history to show themselves in a positive manner. One of the battles in which history has been mainly one sided is the Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya. In this paper I want to explore the true reasons the revolt started and how the European interpretations of this took away from the real reasons why ordinary people took part. By seeing what was used in portraying a negative image, I will try to break down what were the events leading up to it and what hand did the British play. Examining events that took place after the war had been won by the British. The 1969 big screen adaptation of Hello, Dolly! proves that sometimes the original star power of a cast can be overridden decades later. The 2017 Broadway revival of Hello Dolly! supports the idea that while people may become accustomed to hearing a song a certain way, a new interpretation of the materials can lead to blockbuster success. Despite the glitter and grandeur of the on screen film adaptation s costuming and set design, the 2017 iteration of the musical, based on Thornton Wilder s play The Matchmaker, shows that big budgets and sweeping landscapes are not needed; opting to go with garishly bright pastels and impeccable choreography to stir the imaginations and win the hearts of millions of theatergoers. Starring Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau, the 1969 film certainly attempted to bring the star power but hostility that developed between Walter Matthau and Barbra Streisand (TCM) turned into anything but a love story when presented on the big screen. It s a serious illness that can take a terrible toll on individuals and families says the Mayo Clinic Health Center. In reality the effect of antidepressants is not that much, but it bases on the certain person and their lifestyle such as sleeping habits, mood, etc. However many have benefited from antidepressants and lives have changed for the better. Yet some have had no effects. Therefore, antidepressants should not be prescribed for children diagnosed with depression. It is estimated that about 3 5% percent of the population is diagnosed with psoriasis (Yu, 2016; Pg. 1). Psoriasis is defined as a chronic inflammatory skin disease (Lahousen et al, 2016; Pg. 78). The disease creates, in most cases, rough dry patches or lesions on the skin surface. Multiple sights on the body can be affected ranging from the scalp, face, and nails (Wade et al., 2016; Pg. 1). Though the disease largely results in physical symptoms, many patient s health related quality of life (HRQoL) is affected as well; health related quality of life is an evaluation of how a person s health affects aspects of life, mainly focusing on social, psychological and cognitive functions (Gonzalez et al., 2016; Pg. 2). This paper will examine multiple literatures in order to explore the connection between a patient s health related quality of life in regards to a diagnoses of psoriasis. Body Many studies have been done exploring how a patient s health related quality of life is affected by having psoriasis. HRQoL has been found to be severely affected by a patient s psoriasis (Radulski, 2013; Pg. 32). Having visible lesions on the skin can lead to self confidence problems and self image destruction. These visible patches can sometimes result in unwelcomed reactions of others (Lahousen et al., 2016; Pg. 78). Having been described as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Present Day College Admission Marketplace The present day college admission marketplace in the United States is part of an extensive historical evolution. In the 1920s, broadened public interest and the burgeoning of the credit industry led to the first waves of democratization in the higher education arena (Kimball, 2011). The subsequent professionalization and a growing pattern of stratification in the admissions marketplace have seen institutions of all types using increasingly sophisticated mechanisms to attract qualified applicants (Duffy and Goldberg, 1998). With the release of the first U.S. News World Report rankings in 1983 (Morse, 2008), public perception of college admission significantly shifted and colleges began to adopt widespread enrollment management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the exception of the eligibility based model which champions entitlement and open access , the other three models are selective in nature in that students are compared against one another on the basis of certain criteria before an admissions decision is made. The most common and basic philosophy adopted by institutions is the performance based model, which judges applicants based on their demonstrated performance prior to college. This model is advanced through two approaches, meritocracy and character. The meritocracy approach views acceptance into an institution as a reward for prior academic achievement, while the character approach focuses on personal qualities such as resilience and civic virtue (the College Board, 2002). In addition, many colleges also assess students based on their ability to benefit from higher education. The two approaches under this theme include the enhancement approach and the mobilization approach. The former is intended to identify and nurture talent while the latter promotes social and economic mobility (the College Board, 2002). These approaches attempt to contextualize previous accomplishments in light of the student s circumstances and accord value to unrealized potential. The final philosophical model evaluates students based on their ability to contribute to the institution and society if admitted, both in the short run and long run. In the short run, ... • 34. Greg Gage Greg Gage explains that the brain is a fascinating organ. He adds that not much is known about how the brain works because neuroscience is not being taught in schools. This is because the equipment needed to study neuroscience is extremely complex and expensive that this research is only completed at large institutions and major universities. In order to use these tools, one must devote their life and study for about six years to gain access to these materials. His lab partner and himself brought it upon themselves to create an affordable, simplified version of this equipment that virtually anybody could use. They created a company called Backyard Brians that uses DIY neuroscience equipment. He wanted to put his new technology to use, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schools all across the country claim the main reason for no doing so, as of now, is because they do not have the proper technology to teach the topic effectively. Fortunately, the technology that Gage has created is an affordable and efficient solution to the school s dilemma. By teaching basics of the science, children may have an inclination to study neuroscience in later years, such as college. The few amount of neuroscientists in the world now can be blamed on schools for not giving baseline information to students, and therefore not allowing them to become interested neuroscience. Traditionally, even if one expressed enthusiasm in the topic, it would take years of schooling until one could even use the tools available for scientists. Twenty percent of the world suffer from a neurological disorder, and no cure has been found for these diseases. This is partly because of the fact that not many people study neuroscience and therefore is a lack of information in the field. By using Gage s new technology in schools to help explain neuroscience, the topic would become more popular, and because of this, society as a whole could grow to learn more about the study of the brain, which would benefit everybody in the long ... In America alone, much of our country lives in poverty and a very large portion of this population are the students that enter our classrooms. Magnet schools are free public elementary and secondary schools that have a focus theme such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Fine and Performing Arts, or Career and Technical Education (CTE). Magnet schools offer specialized programs that emphasize on a theme that would interest the student or the parents would like for student to be interested in. However, for those in lower classes, they will be disheartened to find that low income, ESOL, and special education students are underrepresented. The admission criteria for magnet schools is so stringent that it rejects those with failing grades, records of bad behavior, or many absences from schools. Students who meet the criteria that is usually rejected are those from lower socio economic classes due to needs not being met. With lack of representation and harsh criteria to meet, it is often very difficult for students in social classes to meet this criteria and achieve a spot in a magnet school. It becomes a common theme of minority parents asking for something better for their children, yet schools discount these parents because it becomes evident to see these are the kids that the public school system does not value (Kozol ... Physics Of Kicking A Soccer Ball The Physics of Kicking a Soccer Ball Alexander Trifu Physics 1000 Professor Terry Arnio Friday, February 19, 2016 Introduction Soccer is the most prominent game on the planet. Soccer players all work hard to stay as fit as possible and constantly train to enhance their skill. A large portion of players don t consider the scientific concept of this amazing sport and the soccer ball itself. I inquired about the material science of soccer and found some exceptionally fascinating truths that all soccer players would do well to learn. The themes that I investigated are: What happens when kicking a soccer ball Does size/weight matter when striking a ball. How a strong step follow through improves your kick. How soccer players curl and bend a ball and the physics involved. I chose to investigate the soccer ball because since a young boy soccer has been my obsession and favourite hobby. • 37. Of Mice And Men Character Development Character Development, Symbolism, Author s Message, Oh My! Of Mice and Men, it is not just a band! Of Mice and Men was originally a short novel written by John Steinbeck in the 1930s. Regardless of the shortness in length, though, it is a rather emotional book with quite a few messages behind the fictional storyline. These messages, however, cannot be discovered right off the bat. To genuinely absorb the messages the author teaches and genuinely understand the meaning behind them, one must read the book in its entirety. Steinbeck educates readers about his ideas and messages through various ideas and literary devices, which includes the development of the characters, symbolism within them, and a bit of imagery to completely formulate the ... Lennie did not know what he was doing wrong, and strangers like the girl who was wearing the red dress do not know him or his disability . George had explained that the girl was scared because she thought Lennie was trying to attack her, and after George finally made Lennie release his grip on the dress, they were driven to run and hide so neither of them would get caught and sent to jail. Children tend to be particularly tactile at a young age, they love to reach out and grab a hold of items that peak their interest, considering they truly do not know any better. George even says that as well, He s jes like a kid. There ain t no more harm in him than a kid neither, except he s so strong (Steinbeck 43). Lennie does not realize that he is so strong either, so as he goes about his life he ends up scaring people, or hurting them, and hurting animals as well, without realizing why. Eventually, Lennie does learn that what he does is wrong, but he still does not know what exactly happens to cause his wrongdoing. For example, just like Steinbeck explains at the beginning of the book how he accidentally kills mice as a result of wanting to pet them, as he does not recognize his own strength. He accidentally repeated his past mistakes, and injured a young pup as well, Why do you got to get killed? You ain t so little as mice . . . I di n t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Signs Of Mania And Depression Just being aware of the signs of mania and depression can significantly help a loved one who suffers from bipolar. Knowing what to do in these situations is key, and being supportive goes a long way. In violent situations, the bipolar individual might need to be medicated or sedated. Jamison speaks frankly about violent outbursts she s had throughout her life and within her relationships. Both my manias and depressions had violent sides to them. Violence, especially if you re a woman, is not something spoken about with ease. Being wildly out of control physically assaultive, screaming insanely at the top of ones lungs, running frenetically with no purpose or limit, or impulsively trying to leap from cars is frightening to others and unspeakably terrifying to oneself. In blind manic rages I have done all of these things, at one time or another, and some of them repeatedly; I remain acutely aware of how difficult it is to control or understand such behaviors, much less explain them to others. (Jamison 120). A popular show currently on television that depicts a realistic and accurate account of bipolar disorder is Homeland. The award winning Showtime cable TV series starring Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison, a CIA agent with bipolar disorder, tells a spellbinding story of espionage and counterterrorism in the middle and Far East, but also accurately depicts mental illness as it occurs in real life. // Her character portrays volatility and unpredictability that often ...
