From my preliminary task to the final magazine product, I learned how to better use my camera equipment and manage lighting and backdrops. I also improved at managing human resources like models, having to find someone specifically fitting for an indie pop magazine. Time management was more important for the final product, allowing for retakes if needed. My creative decisions changed significantly from the preliminary task, requiring audience research on indie pop genres. Problem solving for image editing was needed due to my model's frizzy hair not cutting out cleanly. Props like a guitar and costumes like a bright Hawaiian shirt helped achieve the indie pop aesthetic.
Image analysis
I modified several photos for use in my magazine through Photoshop. For the cover photo, I removed the background, increased saturation to make the subject brighter, adjusted levels to emphasize props, and sharpened the image. For interior photos, I removed backgrounds, increased lighting and saturation to match magazine conventions, cropped legs, and added a shadow effect. I also brightened, saturated, and sharpened a double-page photo. Secondary photos were only cropped to show a photo shoot sneak peek. Through these edits, the photos now suit the genre and magazine format.

- 1. Original Photo: The idea of my photoshoot was to have a simple picture of the artist as the editorial is about the artist love life but, in order to fit into my genre of music which is Hip-Hop I styled the artist with a denim jacket that is off shoulder and a diamond choker. I believe that that the clothing gives the double spread page a sense of Hip- Hop vibe even though the pose is natural and simple. Final Double spread picture edited on Photoshop: I edited the photo using Photoshop by smoothing out her skin on the chest area.
- 2. In order to help me choose the final picture for my double spread page, I made a survey to get my class mates opinions. This was helpful in the process of making my DPS as I was able to feel confident in the work that I am producing because I know that my customers will be more satisfied due to customer research. I asked 20 individuals and put my information on a pie chart. According to my results. Picture number 1 was 50% of the class favourite. Therefore, I used picture number 1 as the main image. Although, I made a drastic changed when making my final product I still kept the same main image. 1 2 3 4
