Region- My model for my front cover is represented as a young middle-class women living in an urban area.
People who listen to an RnB music come from mainly Working-class background, my media product conforms to
this idea as my model lives in an Urban area. The clothing of my model helps to show that it is targeting the
working-class people as her clothing is very casual and something the working-class would wear.
Ethnicity- My magazine subverts to an RnB magazine as its mainly an “black” music genre. The model I have used is
an Asian female. This is to show that someone from another background can be in an RnB magazine, it doesn’t
have to be pigeon holed to one ethnicity. Also, to encourage the audience that it doesn’t have to be a specific
ethnicity and it will promote them to buy the magazine as it is different.
Gender- I have not aimed to promote both gender for my magazine, as its only female that are on my magazine.
My magazine is very gendered as my models are mainly female and would mainly attract to female However, it
subverts to the stereotype of RnB magazine because the artists are usually males. This shows that is doesn’t have
to always be dominated by males, females can do the same as male. Also, would help attract more female
audience. However, the color scheme; black, red, orange, goes with both of the gender as its not a “feminine”
color.
Age- My media product does represents to a particular social group, as my model for my front cover looks
older than she really is, this to attract audience who are at the range of 15-25. My models wore very casual
but trendy clothes, which would draw attention to the young generation.
