Difference between the Melting Pot and Salad Bowl Theories
The melting pot culture refers to people from various cultures coming together to create a new
unique culture. (Lorenzo, 2000) In other words, these cultures have melted together in a pot . For
example, Chinese, Koreans, Germans and more cultures blended in together to create a whole new
American culture. They are not Chinese Americans, Korean Americans or German Americans
anymore but just Americans. On the other hand, salad bowl culture refers to immigrants who do
not lose the aspects of their cultures. . (Lorenzo, 2000) To put it in another way, you can still
clearly see the different ingredients in a salad bowl . As a contrast to the melting pottheory s
example, Chinese Americans, Korean Americans and German Americans will still keep the unique
traits of their cultures while living together in the country. America has been traditionally referred
to as a melting pot , but recently; there are people who argue that salad bowl will be a better
description of America s society today.
The term melting pot was perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no absolute right or wrong in choosing either one. Clear arguments and examples
regarding both theories are given above. However, in my opinion, instead of labelling a nation
as a gigantic melting pot or a salad bowl , I would love to have a mix of both. Too much of
something is never good. But with a mix and match of both theories, it might suits today s society
better. Combining both theories is like citizens will have a second option to study their own
languages while also studying the primary language. (Tititudoranceacom, 2015) Having a mix of
both theories will also be like immigrants can still practice their own respective cultures while also
implant the love for their host country. (Tititudoranceacom, 2015) To put it in a food metaphor,
why can t we have a dish where all ingredients are mixed together but they are still having their own

The Valley Wine Company Increase Production Of Good...
Executive summary
The big goal and major objective of this plan is to enable The Hunter Valley Wine Company
increase production of good quality wine to meet the increased demand for wine in China,
Singapore, Japan, South Korea and other Australian and International major wine distributors which
occupy a significant niche in the Asian wine markets. Hunter Valley Wine Company is facing tough
competition from other Australian wine distributors who are beginning to exert pressure to either
increase production of high quality wines or be faced out of the market. Australia has been
accredited with production of high quality wines and the demand for the product is overwhelming
in Asian markets. Other objectives set to be achieved by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will also be required to evaluate whether the objectives are met by carrying out annual
assessments and reviews.
Introduction
HVWC was established in 1990 by the Smith family and over the years, the company has managed
to upscale its production by increasing production resources, production capacity and improving the
distribution mechanisms. Though the company has struggled to keep up with the quality demands,
viticulture and viniculture studies have however enabled the company see remarkable
developments in increasing quality to the extent that the company has managed to collect various
awards and gain international recognition as high quality wine manufacturers. This plan is therefore
set to promote strategic effort that will steer the company s success further and will be based on
information gained from:
1.Industry research
2.Survey of international markets
3.Survey of market and consumer trends
4.Distributor roundtables
5.Discussions with major retailers
6.Future assessments of growth in wine markets
This plan also discusses the challenges facing HVWC and the corrective measures aimed at
addressing these challenges. The plan also directs and allocates administrative duties to the HVWC
board and will include:
1. An annual written review of the advancement, challenges faced and objectives already achieved;
2. Periodic evaluations from committees giving the

Human Development from Conception to Birth
There are many reasons that certain drugs damage to an embryo very early in pregnancy even
before the mother realizes she is pregnant. Firstly, some of the mother already exposed to certain
drugs before she get pregnant such as tobacco and alcohol. For example, the women who take
cigarettes everyday in their daily life will continue to smoke before they realize it. Due to this,
the babies of mother who smoke tend to grow more slowly in the womb and are likely to be born
prematurely and small (Habek et al., 2002). Apart from that, some of the women did not go to
consult doctor when they were sick, and just simply take any medicine they have in the house.

During the embryonic period, the rate of cell differentiation intensifies, support system for the cells
form, and organ appear. In week 3, an embryo, the person to be is just 1/10 of an inch (2mm) long.
It has become elongated, and three layers emerge the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. In week
4, the embryo is so curved that the two ends almost touch. The outer layer (ectoderm) folds into the
neural tube. From the mesoderm, a tiny heart forms and begins to beat. The endoderm
differentiates into a gastrointestinal tract and lungs. Between days 21 and 28, eyes develop. In the
following week, ears, mouth, and throat take shape. Arm and leg buds appear. The handplate from
which fingers will emerge appears. The heart divides into two regions, and the brain differentiates
into forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain. In week 6 and 7, the embryo is almost 1 inch long. The
heart divides into four chambers. Fingers emerge from the handplate, and primitive facial features
are evident. The important process of sexual differentiation begins. During the final week of
embryonic period, most structures and organs are present. Ovaries and testes are evident. The
embryo begins to straighten and assumes a more human appearance. Clearly, the embryonic period
is dramatic and highly important because it is when the structures that make us human evolve. Yet
most pregnant women, either because they do not yet know they are pregnant of do not appreciate

Analysis Of Joss Whedon s Film
As the thrill and nostalgia for Western films fizzled out, the appeal of space travel became the
forefront of interest among movie goers. Joss Whedon s short lived show Firefly depicted life in
the world 500 years into the future after a civil war between the galactic government known as the
Alliance, and the rebel forces known as the Browncoats. Whedon s film Serenity, is a continuation
of the show that follows Captain Malcolm Reynoldsand his crew. The film falls into the space
western genre, and Malcolm Reynolds displays characteristics of a futuristic cowboy. Unlike the
television series, the film gives background to Miranda, a utopian city where River Tam was taken
by the Alliance for her training, however it is more so a dystopian... Show more content on

They are not only a form of government either, but promote a belief of a better world by using
an authoritarian political ideology to prevent any forms of rebellion by placing spies in places
where reports of rebellion against the government have been reported. The government of this
new world makes sure that no opposition against them sparks common people being resistant
towards their decisions for a new world. This film is set 500 years in the future and created in
2005, but it does reflect contemporary events in the United States. The Standing Rock protest
against the Dakota Access Pipeline was a peaceful protest by the Native American people that
live where the pipeline was going to be relocated to. As the protesters continued to protest, the
police responded in military attire by blocking the roads and supply access for the people living
there. The Sioux Tribe protested a pipeline that could contaminate their water and invade their
land, yet because the pipeline was in the best interests of big oil companies the police force and
U.S. government officials responded by shutting the protests down any which way they could. An
additional example of the government controlling the freedom of speech of U.S. citizens, if and
when president elect Donald Trump gets sworn into office in January there are already barring the

The Importance Of Light Channels For RZ And WDM...
At the transmitter side, our system consist of WDM transmitter for RZ and NRZ modulation, and
a CW laser array is used for the radiation of light waves. It is one that emits radiation continuously
rather than in short bursts, as in pulsed laser. Externally modulated subsystem consists of Pseudo
Random Bit Sequence (PRBS) generator, NRZ Pulse generator, two Mach Zehnder modulators a
sine carrier for CSRZ modulation. WDM multiplexer multiplexes 8 number of WDM signal
channels. The transmission channel consist of single mode fiber (SMF), dispersion compensation
fiber (DCF) and EDFA. EDFA is used to compensate the attenuation losses occurring in SMF and
DCF. Then a demultiplexer multiplexes 8 number of WDM signal channels. The receiver... Show

The performance of spectrally efficient WDM system is analyzed in terms of Q factor, BER and
optical spectrum of the signal. Q factor is given as: (4)
Where and are the average values of signal strength depending on whether the bit corresponds to 1
or 0 in the bit stream [9]. The relationship between Q factor and bit error rate is given as: (5)
Where erfc denotes the complementary error function [10].
III. RESULTS DISCUSSIONS
We have one 8 channel DWDM system operating at 10 Gbps with channel spacing of 100 GHz
and the transmission distance of 86 Km. We have made a comparative analysis of the system by
using RZ, NRZ and CSRZ modulation schemes and at various power levels. As the signal passes
through the fiber the nonlinear effects such as XPM, FWM, SPM, SRS and SBS contribute to
nonlinear changes like increase in channel power for some channels while decreasing power for
the other channels. When transmitter consist of 8 DWDM channels, 3 dBm power and NRZ
modulation then eye diagram bit error rate, quality factor at receiver is shown in fig. 3, at 3 dBm
power level we are achieving a quality factor of 5.99039 with BER of 9.69935e 010, when we

Ruta Malsky 11 26 11 Pd 6 The Positive and Negative effects of Mongol Practice and Belief The
Mongol empire was the world s largest empire. The Mongol s practices and beliefs had both
positive and negative effects. The large Mongolian empire promoted communication and diversity;
however, despite this positive effect, the Mongolian empire housed the deaths of many innocent
people. In addition to this, the Mongol empire fostered various religions, but enforced the same
practices on everyone, no matter what religion they may follow; this brought order amongst the
Mongolian empire. The Mongolian empire was, and still is to this day, the largest empire known to

After the Mongols would sack a city, they would drive out the city s citizens and chop off their
heads, and after the heads were they would sort the heads into piles: one for men, one for
women, and then one for children (Doc 4). In some cases they even buried people alive upside
down (Doc 5)! However, this document, document 5, may be biased. This document came from
a Persian manuscript, so the Persians could have over exaggerated the strictness of the Mongols
and portrayed them as wicked people. It is very possible that the Persians could have does this
especially if they despised the Mongols for taking over their land. Very few people survived, if
any were to have survived, then the survivors were most likely artisans or slaves, since the
Mongols sought them out before they began to murder the city s inhabitants with an axe (Doc
3). However, inhabitants of cities were not the only ones who suffered assassination; soldiers of
the Mongolian army suffered manslaughter as well. In the Mongolian army there was a captain
who oversaw ten soldiers, then there was a captain supervised one hundred soldiers, and so on
(Doc.2). If a few men out of a group of ten were to run away, then all of the ten men would be put
to death (Doc 2). Same applies to men in a group of one hundred; if ten men were to flee from a
group of one hundred, then every man, from that group of one hundred men, would be

Usa Compare And Contrast
As a child, I had always dreamed of traveling around the world and viewing its breathtaking
creations. Through the years I still have this sudden niche for traveling and experiencing new
and exciting things. From Costa Rica to much of the United States I have ventured upon a lot of
traveling. Through the sale of my parents family business I received the opportunity to travel
west and help the new owners grow. After traveling through many of the western states I finally
realized how different not only the terrain was, but culture as well. The state of Utah has many
differences from my home state of Minnesota. Starting from basic terrain Utah is full of endless
hills and valleys ranging from thousands of feet above and below sea level. The four wheeler
trails are also abundant and never ending. A friend and I rented a side by side for a day and
drove for hours exploring the wilderness of Utah. The state run trails are not only for four
wheelers, but for hiking as well. Bryce Canyon, the red rock capital of Utah is definitely a sight
to see. I myself was not able to hike the trails of Bryce Canyon, but if I was given the opportunity I
surely would. Towards the entrance of the park the road cuts through an arch of red rock. This
pristine piece of natural art is a cherished tourist attraction within the state of... Show more content

resorts and locations to help enjoy the snowy winter months. As well as Minnesota hunting is

surely will try in the near future. Another similarity are the state s capital cities, Salt Lake City and
St. Paul, they both have the state s main airports and many other important structures. Both states

The China Men Analysis
Maxine Hong Kingston s The China Men is a historical record of the events that had taken place
in the West coast of the oppression and racism faced by Chinese immigrants and their struggle to
gain the rights and citizenship of Americans. As recorded here, the most critical attack by the U.S.
government to the rights of Chinese immigrants were the Chinese Exclusion acts which banned the
entry of Chinese and also denied the Chinese who were already in the country the rights of
citizens. As can be seen with the case of Chae Chan Ping, the denying of liberty was done by the
branch of government which is meant to call out the other branches on their abuses of power and
abuses of the Constitution. Instead, they carried out their own racially biased

Hierarchy Of Needs
Maslow s hierarchy of needs Abraham Maslow is an important asset to psychology today. He is
well known for his concept called Maslow s Hierarchy of human needs . The hierarchy focuses
on a 5 step pyramid, each level has a different set of needs. In order to move ahead in the pyramid
each person must achieve each need. Physical needs: Physical need is the first level in the
pyramid. The needs that you need to achieve is air, water, food, shelter, sleep and sex. In the
movie a physical need is shown when the bird Kevin was putting all of the food on top of the
house in order to feed her kids. This a physical need because as humans we need food to survive
and this was a mother who was trying to provide for her kids. Another need portrayed... Show more

For this step you will need to have respect for yourself, respect of others and respect for others. In
the movie Doug the dog later got the respect from the other dogs by accidentally putting a cone
of shame on the alpha dog who was bullying him. The dogs took this as Doug taking leadership
of the pack and gave him the respect that he deserved. Later during the movie carl takes a liking
to Russel and takes him out for ice cream just like his dad use to do. This is showing respect for
others on Carl s behalf. Self actualization: The final level is self actualization. This is the final
step a person can achieve to reach their highest potential in life, to be the you that is possible
real in life. In the movie carl is trying to achieve his wife s dream to go to paradise falls and
nothing could stop him from going there. As the movie goes on Carl learns of Kevin s babies
and then decides that getting to her kids is more important than taking the house to the falls.
This is self actualization because Carl s behavior has changed for the better and he is now able
to help other and no longer be grumpy. Another example was when carl saw the note that his late
wife Ellie left behind for him. Once Carl got the house to the falls he was all alone with nothing
to do, it didn t feel as if he should be there. He later realized that instead of fulfilling Ellie s
childhood fantasy that he should create his own destiny.

Brutus Funeral Speech Analysis
According to picturequotes.com, Words are powerful. They can create or they can destroy. So
choose your words wisely. In Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, conspirators slay Julius
Caesar, resulting in anarchy in Rome. Some agree with the death, while others oppose the sudden
and violent death of Caesar. Unlike Antony, Brutus uses emotion rather than fact to sway the
Roman people that Caesars death is justified. Although Brutus puts rules in place so he can not talk
disrespectfully of the conspiracy, Antony, Caesar s closest friend, uses his slyness and manipulation
in his funeral speech to persuade the Romans. Although both characters use analogies, parallelism,
loaded words and hyperboles, their speeches convey very different... Show more content on

By making the Romans think about this topic, Brutus gains support and the audience feels like
the death of Caesar is justified. After Brutus finishes his speech, Antony speaks about his
opinion on the issue; unlike Brutus, Antony acts slyly and communicates a very manipulative
tone to persuade the Romans to rebel. Because of Antony s use of parallelism, he creates vivid
reasoning for his speech. He states, I come here to bury Caesar, not to praise him (III.ii.44). By
using this device, he shows the people of Rome that he isn t praising Caesar, he is putting the
leader to rest. This particular line creates a very manipulative tone, because his speech is all
about what great this Caesar has done and how he wants to rebel against the conspirators. Further
more, Antony uses a lot of irony to slyly get his point across. One example that he uses throughout
the speech is Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is a honorable man (III.ii.44). Because
of the repitition of this ironic statement, the meaning of it changes and intensifies. At first, his tone
was sincere, but as the speech progresses, you can see his sarcastic tone increases. Antony does
this because he has to use this device to surpass the regulations of Brutus, as well as make the
romans listen. Lastly, he uses personification to give life and further meaning to a word. Early in
the speech, Antony says, The evil

The menstrual cycle consists of four different phases: menstrual, pre ovulatory, ovulation, and
postovulatory phase. The menstrual cycle refers to the physiological processes that take place
to the endometrium of the uterus in preparation for implantation of an embryo. The
endometrium grows to a thick, blood vessel rich tissue lining which is an optimal environment
for the implantation of an egg upon its arrival in the uterus (Primal Pictures). If fertilization does
not occur, the lining of the endometrium is shed during menstruation and the menstrual cycle
will begin again. The menstrual phase is the first phase on the reproductive cycle and is the first
day of a women s period that can last from 3 7 days (Primal Pictures). During this time levels of
estrogen and progesterone hormones are at their lowest (Swiss Precision Diagnostics). The low
levels of hormones signal the release of GnRH from the hypothalamus, as well as follicle
stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormones (LH) to be released from the anterior
pituitary glands (Swiss Precision Diagnostics). These hormones cause the shedding of the
epithelial lining of the endometrium and a combination of blood, epithelial cells and mucus
(Primal Pictures). The pre ovulatory phase is the second phase of the menstrual cycle and usually
takes place during days 6 13 of a typical 28 day cycle (Primal Pictures). The increasing

My Neighbor Totoro Essay
Hayao Miyazaki has directed ten Studio Ghibli films, and many more outside the company. Most
of his films include a form of uncertainty, some of which include technological ambiguity, moral
ambiguity, and the ambiguity of age. The focus of this essay is Miyazaki s ambiguity of age,
specifically through his film My Neighbor Totoro. Through the theme of the ambiguity of age,
Miyazaki is able to show the different characteristics that are maintained through maturing,
characteristics that are left behind, and characteristics that are gained from the process of
growing up. I will focus on the differences of maturity between the two sisters and the father in
My Neighbor Totoro. Miyazaki s film My Neighbor Totoro tells the story of the two young
daughters (Satsuki and Mei), their father (Tatsuo), and the family s interactions with friendly
wood spirits in postwar rural Japan (Wikipedia). Satsuki seems to be around ten years old, and
Mei seems to be around five years old. The imbalance of maturity in Satsuki and Mei is first
demonstrated when they are running around their new house. Nothing is explicit about age
Miyazaki only shows Satsuki running around the house, and then shows Mei doing the same thing,
but she does it like a young child (Miyazaki 10). This seemingly small age difference is the
foundation of Miyazaki s themes, motifs, and juxtapositions. In the film, Satsuki and Mei s mother
(Yasuko) has a long term illness
and is in the hospital. As a result, the

Krishna proved Arjunawrong in a very convincing way. To begin, one point or reason that Krishna
laid out was when he stated that we are all going to die at some point rather it be today or in the
future. He makes it a point to tell Arjuna that when we die, only the physical body dies, and the
soul lives forever. That being said Arjuna could kill them at peace knowing that they will still have
another life. Another point or reason that Krishna laid out was that

Apocalypse Now, Apocalypse Forever
Apocalypse Now, Apocalypse Forever
Francis Ford Coppola s magnum opus Apocalypse Now was ladened with problems and
difficulties before and after filming. These problems ranged from those having to do with the cast
and crew, to those having to do with the circumstances surrounding the filming, to those having to
do with the script, to those dealing in direct regard to the very sanity of all of those involved with
Apocalypse Now. Despite the myriad of problems that contributed to this acclaimed film s failure,
Apocalypse Now still became a success in its own right, and a true classic by any director s
standards.

He chose to set a feel for his scenes unknown , then have the actors improvise what was going to
happen (Behr). Coppola also had these actors make lists of what they felt that their characters
should do in different situations (Behr). This caused an effect of the script writing itself, as well as
creating a deeper rift between it and the source material. Marlon Brando, who portrayed Kurtz, fed
the fire of deep confusion where the script was concerned. Both Heart of Darkness, and Milius
original script, as well as Coppola s later interpretation of these, called for the character of Kurtz
to be a frail, sickly, and dying man. Brando, however, refused to get into shape as Coppola had
requested. Brando was in fact so fat during filming that he was shy about it (Behr). Coppola first
suggested that he rewrite the script to accommodate the character to Brando by setting him up as
a gluttonous, man consumed by his own evil excesses (Behr). Brando refused to be undignified
in his portrayal, so the filming, as well as the writing remained stagnant for days on end. In the
end Coppola merely set Brando and Sheen free to improvise for three weeks, leaving him with an
incoherent batch of footage that, with the exception of the death lines of The Horror! The Horror!
(Conrad) had little to do with the script, or the novel. Time and money

absolutely right but now they also have problems with bunnies. A couple of years ago in 2015 a

The Conflict Of Good And Evil In The Duchess Of Malfi
First performed in 1613, The Duchess of Malfi is a timeless and tragic piece of literature which
explores both the conflict of good and evil within Jacobean society and the underlying corruption
which inhabited the courts and government of James I. Webster particularly uses the setting of
this Machiavellian Italian court to offer a direct political and social commentary on the abuse of
power within the era and the hypocrisy of the church. Heavily influenced by Webster s skeptical
and forward thinking views on religion, The Duchess of Malfi also explores the inequalities within
society through the Duchess and the misogynistic world in which she dwells. Characterisation and
symbolism plays a critical role in execution of expressing Webster s views; focusing on the bleak
idea of evilbeing an innate force within the world and good being something hidden.
Even within the first scene of act one, we can identify the characters awareness of the corruption in
the court and their responses to it. Having just returned from France, Antonio sheds light on this
matter by commenting on the French king s act of cleansing the court; giving the image of a good
court being like a common fountain which should flow pure silver drops in general . Essentially,
his dialogue seems to indicate his own personal motivation to cleanse the Italian court and restore
honesty and good within the country and its leaders. Ironically, as they speak of the flatt ring
sycophants which the French king

Controversy in the Use of Embryonic Stem Cells Essay
How can the use of stem cells be so controversial? , one may ask. If the stem cells are donated out

controversial? Sure, a potential life must be destroyed to save a life, but only before one can tell
that it is a human. Should the use of stem cells for medical research and use be regulated? These
questions and more will be discussed and pondered throughout this paper. A stem cellis defined as a
cell that can change into a different type of cell. Stem cells are different from other cells because

These organs would then be transplanted into someone whose had previously failed or is in the
process of shutting down. In humans adult stem cells, not embryonic stem cells, have been used
in therapies for more than forty years. People with blood disorders have used stem cell therapy
to take the opportunity to improve upon their life. On the other hand, embryonic stem cells have
a very high potential to treat or even cure numerous diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
They are much more versatile in their usage compared to adult stem cells. Another practical use
for embryonic stem cells is to treat damaged nerves ( Testing The Use... ). These nerves could
have been impaired in a spinal cord injury. As of today, scientists have already performed stem
cell transplants in people whose cells were damaged through chemotherapy of disease. To make
the use of stem cells helpful to the patient they must come from that person. If not, there is a
possibility of the stem cells being rejected. Currently, only adult stem cells have been transplanted
into humans, with embryonic stem cells missing out. If a person stores their stem cells earlier in
life, the usefulness of them would be extremely high later in life (Preserving Stem Cells). A stem
cell is more advantageous at a younger age, thus why embryonic stem cells extraordinarily useful.
If a person was against the use of stem cells as regenerative medicine or just the use of embryonic

High School Students
Young adults, or adolescents, begin their last four grades of statutory education in a place called
high school. The purpose of this arduous journey is to teach a large range of prosperous skills,
information, and knowledge that will aid students throughout college and ultimately the real world.
In the society we live in today, however, people never question the pressure this quantitative form of
education imposes upon students. This crushing, mortifying stress plummets the mental and
physical health of pupils sometimes to the point of no return. Colleges contribute greatly to this
injustice as well: tuition fees and acceptance rates result being the primary concerns of families
across the nation. Today s society should not endorse the over pressurization of college, as that in
return results in the declination of health of high schoolstudents.
В¬Stress plagues almost every high school student, and while miniscule amounts may not result in
negative consequences, excessive amounts will (Palmer). Pressure by parents and schools to
achieve top scores has created stress levels among students beginning as early as elementary

The hypnagogic jerk represents the side effects of a hidden battle for control in the brain that
happens each night on the cusp between wakefulness and dreams, according to Stafford. There
is a network of cells lies below the cortex called the reticular activating system that governs basic

There is a contradictory system named VLPO, and this system locates near the optic nerve and
governs sleepiness. In REM (Rapid Eye Movement), which is a sleep phase, the body muscles

when a person enters REM. He suggests that if the reticular activating system takes over VLPO
as REM sets in, the remaining daytime energy bursts out and leads to some random muscles
movements. In other words, hypnic jerks are the last gasps of normal daytime motor control

twitch as a sleep disorder and to be afraid of it. As many researchers says, it is a normal

Rick Warren The Purpose Driven Church Summary
Rick Warren is an influential pastor that has authored many books to influence men and women
in the kingdom of God. The Purpose Driven Church is an excellent book written by Rick Warren
(1995). This book gives the reader a glimpse of the critical things that should be considered in the
church. Although, this may not be a blueprint to start a church, however, Warren provides his
personal experience of starting a church and how the church grew like a living organism. Warren
(1995) states, The key issue for churches in the twenty first century will be church health, not
growth (p. 17). He did a great job of shifting your perspective of how the church has the potential

These five areas that Warren (1995) presented are essentials that will aid in the church being
driven by purpose. For the church to stand, it must have a solid foundation. Warren (1995) states,
a foundation is laid by clarifying in the minds of everyone involved exactly why the church
exists and what it is supposed to do (p. 86). When people have an understanding of their purpose,
it will induce cohesiveness in the ministry. It is vital for the leader to define the churches
purpose, organize around them, and application is imperative. Therefore, once the church has
reached a definitive purpose, it is time to carry out the Great Commission. Understanding the
demographic area and who the church is going to serve with help with carrying out the purpose
of the ministry. Therefore, when the church gets understanding of the people that they are going
to target, it will help them to implore a strategic plan. According to Warren (1995), The more
your target is in focus, the more likely it is that you will be able to hit it (p. 172). It is critical for
the church create a process to work through their purpose. When there is a process to their
purpose, it will help the purpose to be carried out daily. However, the ministry shouldn t focus on
growing a church with programs but focus on growing people with a process (Warren, 1995).
Warren (1995), emphasized that his deep conviction that anybody can be won to Christ if you
discover the key to his or her heart (p. 216). It is the act of love that will help the purpose driven
church to meet the people s needs. When the ministry has the people attending the church, it is the
pastor s job to teach the principles of the Bible. It is the word of God that is going to change the
hearts of the people.

Community Policing Within The United States Department Of...
Over time the policing community has faced many different changes to be able to keep up with the
new times. The system has adapted many new techniques and a different approach to how they
solve problems. Community policing has taken on a number of definition, but put simply it is a
working partnership with a community that helps make the area a better environment to subside in.
The main goals of community policing is to reduce neighborhood crime, help reduce fear of crime
and enhance the quality of life in the community. The United States Department of Justice has
defined community policing as a philosophy that focuses on crime and social disorder through the
delivery of policeservices that includes aspects of traditional law enforcement, as well as
prevention, problem solving, community engagement, and partnerships. However, community
policing can be looked at as not so much a strategy, but a philosophy about how things should be
done. According to The Unites States Department of Justice At its core, community oriented
policing is based on law enforcement and the community joining together to identify and address
issues of crime and social disorder. With new advances and community oriented policing, law
enforcement is taking steps in the right direction.

The Relationship Between Constitutional And Physical Force...
This analysis will look at how historians have attempted to explain the relationship between
constitutional and physical force nationalism/republicanism.
In the book Irish Peasants Violence and Political Unrest 1780 1914 editors Samuel Clark and
James S. Donnelly Jr. suggest, in the opening paragraph, that poverty related rebellion in Ireland
became commonplace during the late 18th and early 19th century that led to the ideas of a
separatist republic. These events gave rise to, at first, a constitutional nationalist party called The
Society of United Irishmen that sought parliamentary reform and to make this change they worked
through parliament before later becoming an armed revolutionary group. Focusing on this time
period and going on the writings of Clark and Donnelly it could be argued that the relationship

Perry Curtis Jr. in his article Moral and Physical Force: The Language of Violence in Irish
Nationalism points out that constitutional and physical force nationalism existed side by side in
Irish politics up until the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921. It appears that for a substantial period in
Ireland constitutional nationalism and physical force republicanism stood on equal ground until
people had an opportunity for their own parliament and then the physical force tradition succumb to
constitutional politics. Curtis also alludes to a point made earlier in this piece in how both
nationalist traditions shared similar goals despite having different approaches to the issue of British
rule. Curtis argues that the relationship between constitutional and physical force nationalism
became bound in a close and complex way that had the effect of increasing both the strength of
nationalism and the difficulties for Britain in dealing with the Irish Question. This relationship in
question can be said to be a bit unusual but worked out to be extremely effective for

that everyone associates with what has been portrayed in the movies and television shows. For
example, the movie Serpent and the Rainbow, directed by Wes Craven... Show more content on

This is Haiti s Independence Day. The soup mainly consists of beef, chicken, squash, spinach,
sweet potatoes, and other leafy greens. The interesting fact about this dish is the fact that no
pumpkin is used to make the soup. Specific Haitian recipes have been passed along from
generation to generation and when a person mentions one Haitian dish, most likely everyone will

Honda Pilots Research Paper
Olivia Marano Mrs. Michael English Comp 101 December 12, 2016 2004 Honda Pilot Cars.
You cannot leave your home without hearing or seeing the monstrous vehicles tearing down the
road. Although these machines originated in America, it is common knowledge that foreign
made cars are much more reliable than any that America could create. One foreign company that
creates such vehicles is Honda, a company based in Japan ( Honda Motor Co., Ltd. ), and the
2004 Honda Pilot is the perfect example of a foreign car that surpasses American car company
standards in its dependability, size, and pricing. When searching for a new car, dependability is
one of the most important factors that people look for before making such an expensive purchase.
Most people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Honda Pilot can withstand horrendous weather conditions for 12 years and still run as if it
were brand new, while its American counterparts only last 120,000 miles before requiring
significant repairs to keep it on the road. Its size makes it a great family car because it provides
ample amount of room for its passengers, mostly preventing the feelings of claustrophobia
during longer trips. Besides the large size of the Honda Pilot, another thing that makes it a
preferable family car is the addition of a DVD player in one of the models (AutoTrader.com).
Having a DVD player in a car can provide entertainment to the children, or adults, in the middle
and rear of car. This entertainment is a way to make sure that the children are happy and, if they
do not enjoy being in a car, distracted from the ride itself, preventing them from distracting the
driver. The Honda Pilot has proven that it is the more affordable SUV in comparison to its American

Clueless Film Review
Cut to the scene in Clueless where the water sprouts from the fountain behind Cher when she
realizes that she loves Josh. It is shot in high and straight angle, boom down. The fountain is so
dramatic, which shows that Cher had realized something really important. Background Music: Non
diegetic sound. Background music I Love A FilmClichГ© by Allen Cohen continues.
Cut to the scene in Angus, Thong and perfect snogging, when Georgia cleans her room. The camera

Film ClichГ© by Allen Cohen continues. Volume decreased. Music fades out as the narration ends.
Narration: In every coming of age film, there is a particular scene where character realizes
something and grows up. This is rite of passage. The documentary will be focusing on this, by
analyzing four films in different regions.
Cut to the scene in Our Times when Lin Zhen Xin asks her brother s girlfriend to make her over.

Narrator: For example, as Georgia overcomes various troubles and grows up, she becomes a
grown up woman. This is shown by her costume and makeup. She wears a party dress, which is in
contrast with the funny costume at the beginning of the film. She also wears a makeup, which she
did not before she meet the male protagonist. According to BAFTA Guru interview with Jill Taylor,
the costume designer of the film, she stated: Whatever the directors want, I give him. It s his film.
The director Gurinder Chadha stated in citychanie: For me, I just feel this film really is for
anyone who has been a teenager or is a teenager. It takes you back to the roller coaster of being a
15 again. Thus, it shows that the costume definitely shows the coming of age

Essay Symposium Cave Allegory
Starting at 210a of The Symposium, Diotima speaks with Socrates about reaching the final vision
of the mysteries. She starts talking about a young boy who is starting to be attracted to beautiful
bodies. He first loves one body; and then, realizing that all bodies are relatively alike, he begins to
love all beautiful bodies. After that, he comes to appreciate the beauty of minds, not caring
anymore about physical attraction. After all stages, the boy will ultimately come to loving beauty
itself and all beautiful things. This gradual climb to the final vision is similar to the climb out of
the cave in Platos Allegory of the Cave. In the Allegory of the Cave, the chained down prisoners are
limited with their perception on reality. At... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to The Symposium, the cave allegory also has a reference to a Form. At the last stage of
the prisoner s climb to the top of the cave, he sees the sun and observes the Form of Good. Since
he was recently unaware of the Form of Good, he has reached a higher understanding, just like the
boy from The Symposium. These two pieces written by Plato also have two characters, Socrates
and the prisoners, who are similar. After returning to the cave, the prisoner would be reentering a
world of darkness, having to talk to all the unreleased prisoners. He would live with the other
prisoners, being able to see better than all of the rest. Because of his different perspective of
reality and new knowledge, he would assume the position of the leader of the group and take
care of the prisoners. Socrates does this exact thing in The Symposium. He seems to be the most
enlightened one in the group and appears to be the puppet by which Plato speaks about his own
views. Alcibiades speaks about how he looked up to and loved Socrates during his speech
starting at 212c. Socrates acts as the mentor and leader in The Symposium, just as a prisoner
would be if he were to leave the cave and become enlightened. Although there are many
dissimilarities in these two pieces written by Plato, there are lots of similarities. It is very
surprising to see as many parallels between the two works, even though they have the same author.
To start, Diotima s speech had the

Correlation Between the Attack on Pearl Harbor and the...
The events of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 changed not just the American way of
life, but the way in which terrorism will forever be viewed. Moments after the first plane changed
our way of life by crashing into the first tower, it also changed the way people will live their lives
for many generations from that point forward. For the first time on Continental United States soil,
America was under siege. Months after the attackmany political figures and citizens wondered
about warning signs and if there were indicators that may have identified a warning or imminent
attack. As the attacks were analyzed a correlation between the attack on Pearl Harbor and New York
City had indicators of imminent attacks.
In 1941, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These messages, intercepted on December 3rd and 4th weren t translated until December 10th.
The messages showed Tokyo asking for information concerning Pearl Harbor. Japan had no reason
to ask for this information, unless it planned to use it to attack ships in the harbor. If translated
sooner, these messages would have warned the US of the imminent attack. Many indicators for
Pearl Harbor could have repeated before the attack on the calm morning on 9 1 1.
In the past, there were many attacks on Americans that were treated as extremist acts and
indicators of continuing attacks against Americans and their targets of opportunity. One
premonition of the 9 1 1 attacks occurred on the very site of the actual attack on 9 1 1. On
February 26, 1993, the World Trade Center was attacked by terrorists (Federal Bureau of
Investigation, 2008). They place a truck loaded with 1,500 lbs of explosive in the basement
structure of the North Tower. Their intention was to topple it into the South Tower killing
thousands. The results were six killed and almost two thousand injured when the devastation was
completed. Closer to the 9 1 1 attack, men with Middle Eastern physical traits wanted to learn how
to fly planes without learning to land them. This should have been an indicator of hidden agendas
which should have raised more alarms.
Security and Terrorism
So, with all these indicators and

  • 2. Difference between the Melting Pot and Salad Bowl Theories The melting pot culture refers to people from various cultures coming together to create a new unique culture. (Lorenzo, 2000) In other words, these cultures have melted together in a pot . For example, Chinese, Koreans, Germans and more cultures blended in together to create a whole new American culture. They are not Chinese Americans, Korean Americans or German Americans anymore but just Americans. On the other hand, salad bowl culture refers to immigrants who do not lose the aspects of their cultures. . (Lorenzo, 2000) To put it in another way, you can still clearly see the different ingredients in a salad bowl . As a contrast to the melting pottheory s example, Chinese Americans, Korean Americans and German Americans will still keep the unique traits of their cultures while living together in the country. America has been traditionally referred to as a melting pot , but recently; there are people who argue that salad bowl will be a better description of America s society today. The term melting pot was perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no absolute right or wrong in choosing either one. Clear arguments and examples regarding both theories are given above. However, in my opinion, instead of labelling a nation as a gigantic melting pot or a salad bowl , I would love to have a mix of both. Too much of something is never good. But with a mix and match of both theories, it might suits today s society better. Combining both theories is like citizens will have a second option to study their own languages while also studying the primary language. (Tititudoranceacom, 2015) Having a mix of both theories will also be like immigrants can still practice their own respective cultures while also implant the love for their host country. • 4. Human Development from Conception to Birth There are many reasons that certain drugs damage to an embryo very early in pregnancy even before the mother realizes she is pregnant. Firstly, some of the mother already exposed to certain drugs before she get pregnant such as tobacco and alcohol. For example, the women who take cigarettes everyday in their daily life will continue to smoke before they realize it. Due to this, the babies of mother who smoke tend to grow more slowly in the womb and are likely to be born prematurely and small (Habek et al., 2002). Apart from that, some of the women did not go to consult doctor when they were sick, and just simply take any medicine they have in the house. In week 3, an embryo, the person to be is just 1/10 of an inch (2mm) long. It has become elongated, and three layers emerge the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. In week 4, the embryo is so curved that the two ends almost touch. The outer layer (ectoderm) folds into the neural tube. From the mesoderm, a tiny heart forms and begins to beat. The endoderm differentiates into a gastrointestinal tract and lungs. Between days 21 and 28, eyes develop. In the following week, ears, mouth, and throat take shape. Arm and leg buds appear. The handplate from which fingers will emerge appears. The heart divides into two regions, and the brain differentiates into forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain. In week 6 and 7, the embryo is almost 1 inch long. The heart divides into four chambers. Fingers emerge from the handplate, and primitive facial features are evident. The important process of sexual differentiation begins. During the final week of embryonic period, most structures and organs are present. Ovaries and testes are evident. The embryo begins to straighten and assumes a more human appearance. Clearly, the embryonic period is dramatic and highly important because it is when the structures that make us human evolve. Unlike Antony, Brutus uses emotion rather than fact to sway the Roman people that Caesars death is justified. By making the Romans think about this topic, Brutus gains support and the audience feels like the death of Caesar is justified. After Brutus finishes his speech, Antony speaks about his opinion on the issue; unlike Brutus, Antony acts slyly and communicates a very manipulative tone to persuade the Romans to rebel. Because of Antony s use of parallelism, he creates vivid reasoning for his speech. He states, I come here to bury Caesar, not to praise him (III.ii.44). By using this device, he shows the people of Rome that he isn t praising Caesar, he is putting the leader to rest. This particular line creates a very manipulative tone, because his speech is all about what great this Caesar has done and how he wants to rebel against the conspirators. Further more, Antony uses a lot of irony to slyly get his point across. One example that he uses throughout the speech is Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is a honorable man (III.ii.44). Because of the repitition of this ironic statement, the meaning of it changes and intensifies. At first, his tone was sincere, but as the speech progresses, you can see his sarcastic tone increases. Most of his films include a form of uncertainty, some of which include technological ambiguity, moral ambiguity, and the ambiguity of age. The focus of this essay is Miyazaki s ambiguity of age, specifically through his film My Neighbor Totoro. Through the theme of the ambiguity of age, Miyazaki is able to show the different characteristics that are maintained through maturing, characteristics that are left behind, and characteristics that are gained from the process of growing up. I will focus on the differences of maturity between the two sisters and the father in My Neighbor Totoro. Miyazaki s film My Neighbor Totoro tells the story of the two young daughters (Satsuki and Mei), their father (Tatsuo), and the family s interactions with friendly wood spirits in postwar rural Japan (Wikipedia). Satsuki seems to be around ten years old, and Mei seems to be around five years old. The imbalance of maturity in Satsuki and Mei is first demonstrated when they are running around their new house. Nothing is explicit about age Miyazaki only shows Satsuki running around the house, and then shows Mei doing the same thing, but she does it like a young child (Miyazaki 10). This seemingly small age difference is the foundation of Miyazaki s themes, motifs, and juxtapositions. In the film, Satsuki and Mei s mother (Yasuko) has a long term illness and is in the hospital. Coppola also had these actors make lists of what they felt that their characters should do in different situations (Behr). This caused an effect of the script writing itself, as well as creating a deeper rift between it and the source material. Marlon Brando, who portrayed Kurtz, fed the fire of deep confusion where the script was concerned. Both Heart of Darkness, and Milius original script, as well as Coppola s later interpretation of these, called for the character of Kurtz to be a frail, sickly, and dying man. Brando, however, refused to get into shape as Coppola had requested. Brando was in fact so fat during filming that he was shy about it (Behr). Coppola first suggested that he rewrite the script to accommodate the character to Brando by setting him up as a gluttonous, man consumed by his own evil excesses (Behr). Brando refused to be undignified in his portrayal, so the filming, as well as the writing remained stagnant for days on end. In the end Coppola merely set Brando and Sheen free to improvise for three weeks, leaving him with an incoherent batch of footage that, with the exception of the death lines of The Horror! The Conflict Of Good And Evil In The Duchess Of Malfi First performed in 1613, The Duchess of Malfi is a timeless and tragic piece of literature which explores both the conflict of good and evil within Jacobean society and the underlying corruption which inhabited the courts and government of James I. Webster particularly uses the setting of this Machiavellian Italian court to offer a direct political and social commentary on the abuse of power within the era and the hypocrisy of the church. Heavily influenced by Webster s skeptical and forward thinking views on religion, The Duchess of Malfi also explores the inequalities within society through the Duchess and the misogynistic world in which she dwells. Characterisation and symbolism plays a critical role in execution of expressing Webster s views; focusing on the bleak idea of evilbeing an innate force within the world and good being something hidden. Even within the first scene of act one, we can identify the characters awareness of the corruption in the court and their responses to it. Having just returned from France, Antonio sheds light on this matter by commenting on the French king s act of cleansing the court; giving the image of a good court being like a common fountain which should flow pure silver drops in general . Essentially, his dialogue seems to indicate his own personal motivation to cleanse the Italian court and restore honesty and good within the country and its leaders. • 40. Honda Pilots Research Paper Olivia Marano Mrs. Michael English Comp 101 December 12, 2016 2004 Honda Pilot Cars. You cannot leave your home without hearing or seeing the monstrous vehicles tearing down the road. Although these machines originated in America, it is common knowledge that foreign made cars are much more reliable than any that America could create. One foreign company that creates such vehicles is Honda, a company based in Japan ( Honda Motor Co., Ltd. ), and the 2004 Honda Pilot is the perfect example of a foreign car that surpasses American car company standards in its dependability, size, and pricing. When searching for a new car, dependability is one of the most important factors that people look for before making such an expensive purchase. Most people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Honda Pilot can withstand horrendous weather conditions for 12 years and still run as if it were brand new, while its American counterparts only last 120,000 miles before requiring significant repairs to keep it on the road. Its size makes it a great family car because it provides ample amount of room for its passengers, mostly preventing the feelings of claustrophobia during longer trips. Besides the large size of the Honda Pilot, another thing that makes it a preferable family car is the addition of a DVD player in one of the models (AutoTrader.com). Having a DVD player in a car can provide entertainment to the children, or adults, in the middle and rear of car. This entertainment is a way to make sure that the children are happy and, if they do not enjoy being in a car, distracted from the ride itself, preventing them from distracting the driver. The Honda Pilot has proven that it is the more affordable SUV in comparison to its American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Essay Symposium Cave Allegory Starting at 210a of The Symposium, Diotima speaks with Socrates about reaching the final vision of the mysteries. She starts talking about a young boy who is starting to be attracted to beautiful bodies. He first loves one body; and then, realizing that all bodies are relatively alike, he begins to love all beautiful bodies. After that, he comes to appreciate the beauty of minds, not caring anymore about physical attraction. After all stages, the boy will ultimately come to loving beauty itself and all beautiful things. This gradual climb to the final vision is similar to the climb out of the cave in Platos Allegory of the Cave. In the Allegory of the Cave, the chained down prisoners are limited with their perception on reality. At... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to The Symposium, the cave allegory also has a reference to a Form. At the last stage of the prisoner s climb to the top of the cave, he sees the sun and observes the Form of Good. Since he was recently unaware of the Form of Good, he has reached a higher understanding, just like the boy from The Symposium. These two pieces written by Plato also have two characters, Socrates and the prisoners, who are similar. After returning to the cave, the prisoner would be reentering a world of darkness, having to talk to all the unreleased prisoners. He would live with the other prisoners, being able to see better than all of the rest. Because of his different perspective of reality and new knowledge, he would assume the position of the leader of the group and take care of the prisoners. Socrates does this exact thing in The Symposium. He seems to be the most enlightened one in the group and appears to be the puppet by which Plato speaks about his own views. Alcibiades speaks about how he looked up to and loved Socrates during his speech starting at 212c. Socrates acts as the mentor and leader in The Symposium, just as a prisoner would be if he were to leave the cave and become enlightened. Although there are many dissimilarities in these two pieces written by Plato, there are lots of similarities. It is very surprising to see as many parallels between the two works, even though they have the same author. To start, Diotima s speech had the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Correlation Between the Attack on Pearl Harbor and the... The events of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 changed not just the American way of life, but the way in which terrorism will forever be viewed. Moments after the first plane changed our way of life by crashing into the first tower, it also changed the way people will live their lives for many generations from that point forward. For the first time on Continental United States soil, America was under siege. Months after the attackmany political figures and citizens wondered about warning signs and if there were indicators that may have identified a warning or imminent attack. As the attacks were analyzed a correlation between the attack on Pearl Harbor and New York City had indicators of imminent attacks. In 1941, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These messages, intercepted on December 3rd and 4th weren t translated until December 10th. The messages showed Tokyo asking for information concerning Pearl Harbor. Japan had no reason to ask for this information, unless it planned to use it to attack ships in the harbor. If translated sooner, these messages would have warned the US of the imminent attack. Many indicators for Pearl Harbor could have repeated before the attack on the calm morning on 9 1 1. In the past, there were many attacks on Americans that were treated as extremist acts and indicators of continuing attacks against Americans and their targets of opportunity. One premonition of the 9 1 1 attacks occurred on the very site of the actual attack on 9 1 1. On February 26, 1993, the World Trade Center was attacked by terrorists (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2008). They place a truck loaded with 1,500 lbs of explosive in the basement structure of the North Tower. Their intention was to topple it into the South Tower killing thousands. The results were six killed and almost two thousand injured when the devastation was completed. Closer to the 9 1 1 attack, men with Middle Eastern physical traits wanted to learn how to fly planes without learning to land them. This should have been an indicator of hidden agendas which should have raised more alarms. Security and Terrorism So, with all these indicators and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
