• Smart materials are materials that
have one or more properties that can
be significantly altered in a
controlled fashion by external
stimuli, such as stress, temperature,
moisture, pH, electric or magnetic
fields.
• Piezoelectric materials
• Shape Memory alloys
• Magnetic shape memory alloys
• PH sensitive polymers
• Halochromic materials
• Chromogenic systems
• Technical properties
• Technological properties
• Economic criteria
• Environmental characteristics
• the fIf unctions of sensing and
actuation are added to this list,
then the new material or alloy is
considered a smart material.

Basically, the rider initially
attaches linka to their bike frame,
and then subsequently uses
Bluetooth and the mobile
application to control the lock.
As users gets within Bluetooth
range of their parked bike, its built
in-locking mechanism will
automatically release.

A colorful spool of plastic thread is fed
into the pen. The thread is then extruded
as heated plastic that cools and solidifies
instantly as it exits the tip. This allows
solid 3D structures to be drawn on any
surface or from any surface into the air.
The general feature of all of
them is the fact that one or more
properties might be significantly
altered under controlled condition.
The present age is considered to be
the smart materials era.
 The technology of smart
materials by its nature, it is a
highly interdisciplinary field.
 Starting from the field of basic
sciences such as physics,
chemistry, mechanics,
computing and electronics it
also covers the applied sciences
and engineering such as
aeronautics and mechanical
engineering.
Understanding and
controlling the
composition and
microstructure of any
new materials are the
ultimate objectives of
research in this field and
is crucial to the
production of good
smart materials.
