The Five Stages Of Tuckman s Theory
Group Work This work will focus on the meaning, the five stages of Tuckman s theory, the
approaches and the uses of group work. Group work refers to a method of social work practice
which is concerned with the recognition and use of processes which occur when three or more
people work together towards a common purpose (Trevithick, 2005). According to Garvin,
Gutierrez and Galinsky (2004), the properties that can be use to describe and change group on
which the influence may have an impact include group characteristics, competencies, conditions,
change and context. A group should be small between five to nine persons, so that each one will
be able to relate and engage every member in the group. The group is viewed as a system, the
condition of any member affects the other (Fatout, 1992). The five stage Tuckman s theory (1965)
namely forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning focuses on the way in which a
group handles a task from the beginning to completion. The main group work approaches are
cognitive behaviourist, feminist, psychoanalytic and humanistic approaches. Knowledge of theory
enhances effectiveness of group work. Since much of our time is spend in groups, it is helpful to
work in groups because it will give an opportunity to improve their human functioning. Group work
helps to develop individual skills in communication, relationship building and asserting oneself
(Lindsay and Orton, 2014). Some target groups might be difficult to work with, but they

The Quality Risk Management Plan
The quality risk management plan for this case study scenario includes identifying areas of risk
and healthcare errors, in order to protect future patients from having their safety compromised.
The case study describes two patients who received wrong site surgery; which is considered a
sentinel event preventable and should never occur. According to a report by the Agency for
Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Patient Safety Network (2015) titled Wrong Site, Wrong
Procedure, and Wrong Patient Surgery, wrong site surgery is the most frequent type of sentinel
event. It is approximated that wrong site surgeries take place forty times per week in America
(Clark, 2011).
Wrong site surgery has been identified as a top priority in improving quality of care and increasing
patient safety. As such, The Joint Commission 2015 HospitalNational Patient Safety Goal includes
the prevention of mistakes in surgery. The goal is to perform the correct surgery on the correct
patient at the correct site, prior marking of the surgical site, and performing a time out just prior to
commencement of the surgery. The purpose of this paper is to create a root cause analysis, present
recommendations for improvement, present recommendations to prevent wrong site surgery,
identify the stakeholders and role players, present root cause analysis charts, and provide an overall
of lessons learned throughout the course. Root Cause AnalysisA root cause analysis is a method

Great Depression Vs Great Recession Essay
The causes of the Great Depression and the Recession of 2009 were similar in that job losses
and stock markets were both causes, get they different in that Dust Bowl causes the Great
Depression but it was not a factor in the Recession. Both the Great Depression and the recession
drove people into a deep depression. During both of these times a lot of things changed for
people. One huge similarity is that they both went through major job losses. In 2008 and 2009, the
U.S labor market lost 8.4 million jobs, or 6.1% of all payroll employment( The Great Recession.)
During 1932, 30,000 companies went out of business by 1933 more than 12 million workers, or one
fourth of the workforces were unemployed. The unemployment rates started dropping... Show more

During the Great Depression they had the Dust bowl that caused a big change for them. THe
Recession had the housing bubble it was also called the National Housing Act that was passed
by Congress in 1934 and set up the Federal Housing Authority ( HUD.Gov by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development ). This agency encouraged banks, building and
loan associations, etc. to make loans for building homes, small business establishments, and farm
buildings. If the FHA approved the plans, it would insure the loan ( National Housing Act by
John Simkin ). The Most of the borrowing that took place during the housing bubble was mostly
mortgage debt. Low interest rates and the expanded availability of mortgage loan especially
subprime mortgages which extended credit to borrowers with weak financial records made home
ownership more attractive and attainable for millions of Americans. With the expectation that
home prices would keep rising, people not only bought more houses, they also bought bigger
houses and accelerated renovations of existing homes ( Cause the great depression by Muddy
Water Macro ) .The recession was an economic downturn which means nothing was an order
doing this time. The reason why the Great Depression and the Recession were similar because of
the job loses, and stock markets were both the main causes they are also different in some ways.

Restorative Justice And Recidivism
Restorative Justice and Recidivism
Most of my life I ve always had strong interests in studying a number of topics in justice, which is
why I am pursuing to get a degree in criminal justice and psychology. I find it compelling to study
and understand criminals minds and behaviors. My goal in the future is to eventually help troubled
individuals. I hope one day I will make a difference in reducing crime and make a difference in
helping individuals overcome criminality. Because of that reason, I think its worthwhile that I
chose a topic of my interest about restorative justice, and recidivism for juvenile offenders.
Restorative justice is a traditional method to help juvenile offenders or adults rehabilitate over time.
Looking from my perspective, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In depth, With the research I ve done, I realized that there needs to be more future studies on the
rates of recidivism in Restorative Justice to other forms of rehabilitation because, there isn t
enough proper evidence to prove recidivsim is reduced. The studies I observed, had a specific
question about juvenile offenders of diversion were most likely to be referred to Restorative
Justice programs: Studies stated aim of evaluating diversion programs which are defined broadly
but fairly similarly in both studies as any program that allows juveniles to avoid imprisonment.
(Wong, Boucahrd, Gravel, Morcelli,Bouchard 1310 1329) Overall, Restorative Justice programs
possibly could reduce the percentages of recidivism by diversionary approaches, there is small
evidence of reduction for offenders: RJ suggest that RJ may lead to increased victim satisfaction,
decreased costs, and long term success in recidivism. (Rodriguez, 355)

Young Goodman Brown Character Analysis
Why are humans so judgmental of each other and of themselves, and with the harshest
application? What causes such abysmal behavior? Is it because of low self esteem, envy, fear of
rejection/feeling threatened or part of our culture or religion. Whatever the reasons Young
Goodman Brown and A Good Man Is Hard to Find illustrates the dangers of being judgmental.
Brown see his self as a good person prior to entering the forest, and the grandmother from A Good
Man Is Hard to Find see herself as an upstanding southern woman until the end shows her different.
Let s explore Young Goodman Brownto see if there is a lesson to be learned about the dangers of
being judgmental. Brown is a young man living in the seventeen centuries and in Salem a town
known as the capital of witchcraft. Hawthorne references three dark events from the Puritans
history: the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, the Puritan intolerance of the Quakers, and King Philip s
War. During the Salem Witch Trials, one of the most nightmarish episodes in Puritan history, the
villagers of Salem killed twenty five innocent people who were accused of being witches. The
witch hunts often involved accusation based on revenge, jealousy, botched child delivery and other
reason that had little to do with perceived witchcraft. Based on the history of the town it is easy to
see why Young Goodman Brown is easily in tangled with corrupt thoughts about his friends and
family because of Puritan history. Coupled with Brown, going

John Wayne As An Example Of A Revisionist Western Film
The Western genre been highly prevalent in Hollywood films for decades. Beginning with The
Great Train Robbery in 1903, Western films have gained international many parts of Europe and
Mexico in addition to the United States. One classic example of a Western feature (full length) film
is True Grit (1969), which stars John Wayneas the strong, memorable protagonist, Rooster Cogburn.
Although the film follows many filmic conventions regarding the formula of the Westerngenre, it
also defies certain conventions, thus serving as an example of a revisionist Western. These
qualities also carry over into the recent remake, True Grit(2010), which contains the same plot as
the original while making use of modern cinematic techniques in order to make the film more
exciting, dramatic and accessible for a modern audience. Prior to the release of True Grit (1969),
John Wayne had played starring roles in countless other Western films, including Stagecoach (1939)
and The Searchers (1956). By the 1960s, John Wayne gained vast recognition among many
audiences as the definitive celluloid icon of the American Western. John Wayne?s popularity within
Hollywood grew largely during the 1950s, during the rise of revisionist western films. In addition,
the film?s setting is consistent with previous films in the genre. A small portion of the plot is set in
a small town in Arkansas, while the bulk is set in the sporadically populated, mountainous Indian
Territory. There are several scenes in which

To what extent can the borough Of Brentwood, England Be Considered a Sustainable Community?
Subject Geography
Topic Sustainability
Introduction
Sustainability is currently a global concern. In recent years scientists have publicised theories that
the Earth will not be able to cope with the exponential growth of pollution and resource
consumption.
At present there are many examples of areas that have made their communities sustainable as a
result of the UN millennium goal. These goals stated...One example is Milagro. This is a community
in Arizona that has recently become sustainable. It is known for its cohousing community of twenty
eight, energy efficient, passive solar homes.
I have chosen to perform my tests in Brentwood as it is a developed, affluent area. As a result of
this its public transport networks are large, its resource consumption is high and its houses are
large. Further, Brentwood is an area that shows an even distribution of wealth, preventing
anomalies.
Research Question/ Hypothesis
The research question I have chosen to investigate is In what ways can we agree that the town of
Brentwood, England, is a sustainable area?
The hypothesis I will be trying to prove/disprove is Through the Sustainability Communities Index
it is apparent that Brentwood is a sustainable town .
The Sustainable Communities Index

probably want to know is what I am reading right now. Though I m really not that literate type, I

Hunger Game is the book that got those crazy ideas. The people living in the book is divided to
12 districts leading by a centre called Capitol where is the gathering place of all those huge
snobs, phonies and morons. They always wear those old fashioned hat, clothing and thought
themselves to be so fashinable. That imagery really kills me. Really, you can imagine those old
ones with a thousand layers of clothing and makeup that definitely gonna make you sick as hell.
But, anyway, it is a story about this crazy goddam game, called The Hunger Game. In its game
regulation, each of the 12 districts has to provide two tribes. Those 24 tribes then go to the Capitol
to attend the killing game. Among those poor sacrifices, some, those snobs, volunteer for fame and

Abortion is Not the Reason for Lower Crime Rates Essay
What is wrong with the ivory tower? The appointment of Peter ( Death to Disabled Newborns! )

Recently, University of Chicago economist Steven Levitt and Stanford University Law School

The authors contend that legalized abortion fueled the drop in crime in the 1990s because a new

many children would not then be forced to spend their days begging and could undertake some

Unfortunately, it appears that many people are accepting Levitt and Donohue s hypothesis as
Revealed Truth (no matter that the paper is unpublished and not peer reviewed). A few random
observations about their methodology and assumptions may illuminate the paths which led them to

Kids In America Analysis
somadjinn.deviantart.com somadjinn.deviantart.com Fourth of July will soon be upon us, and
that means celebrating with barbeques, fireworks and good music. Here are the top ten songs
about America to get you in the mood (FYI, I left out America by Simon Garfunkel, as I put that
on another list.) Number Ten: Kids in America by The Muffs. Kids in America is a song by The
Muffs, off of the 1995 soundtrack to Clueless. Originally the song was done by Kim Wilde, off of
her 1981 self titled debut (however, I chose the version by The Muffs as it s a bit grittier.) Lyrics
include, outside a new day is dawning / outside suburbia s sprawling everywhere / I don t want
to go baby / New York to east California / there s a new wave coming I warn you / we re the kids
in America / everybody live for the music go round / we re the kids in America. This song simply
seems to be about how the kids in America are who decide what music becomes popular; it also
mentions a new wave, which could easily be referring to the new wave music of the 80s that would
become very prevalent in the music scene. Number Nine: American Woman by The Guess Who.

My Christian Beliefs
In my opinion, people have the right to choose, to believe, and to live their lives the way that
they want to. And I ve chosen how to live mine. My viewpoints on life guides my morals and
what I consider right and wrong, just as everyone else does. My spirituality gives me a sense of

Comparing Winter s Tale And My Brother, The Artist, At Seven
In Mark Helprin s novel, Winter s Tale, and Levine s poem, My Brother, the Artist, at Seven , the
characters grow spiritually, Rising Above themselves. The characters in both the novel and the
poem share this charactersistic. Rising above one s self is not only a figurative theme in the
characters, but also a literal theme. Beverly Penn, Peter Lake, and Cecile Mature in Helprin s novel,
as well as the young boy in Levine s poem, all show similiar traits of rising above. Beverly Penn
rises above herself in some very meaningful circumstances in Mark Helprin s novel, Winter s
Tale. One moment in the novel in which Beverly is shown rising above herself is when, Peter
Lake watches as she plays the piano. The novel states, He had unspeakable admiration for the
way she had risen from obvious weakness to court with such passion the elusive and demanding
notes that he had heard. She had done what Mootfowl had always argued. She had risen above
herself, right before his eyes she had risen, and then fallen back, weakened, vulnerable, alone
(Helprin, Pg. 127). Beverly pushed through the weakness she was experiencing from consumption,
and conquered it. She was doing something that she loved and doing it strikingly well. This was
Beverly rising above herself, challenging herself to overcome her weakness. Beverly is... Show

Education Is The Best Form Of Population Control
Education is the best form of population control. I believe that population control policies are not
necessary. As the world becomes more industrialized and equality becomes more prevalent, the
total fertility rate goes down. We should not worry about implementing policies that lead to neglect
and abuse but should be working towards educating women and giving them equal rights. The
ability to make educated decisions is the most powerful driving force of all in my opinion.
In the twentieth century the world saw a population boom. This was not because women were
having more babies, but because of the technological and healthcare advances made in the last
century. In 1960, women around the world were having an average of 5 children. By 2009, the
world total fertility rate was cut in half. Women today are having an average of 2.5 children
(SUZUKI, 2014). I believe this is because women have been empowered by knowledge and a
world that is becoming smaller through technological advancements. Today we can get from one
side of our world to the other in a matter if hours, where previously it would take months to sail
from place to place. Information and ideas are also being transferred at the speed of light. The
world network is also bringing healthcare to poor and underprivileged people that would not have
the vaccines and other life saving techniques to save their children.
These advancements mean that cultures can borrow ideas from each other and (hopefully) throw
out traditions

The Journey Of Marco Polo
There were many explorers and merchants from the Renaissance, but only one stood out: Marco
Polo. He was most famous for his travels to Asia from Italy, where he grew up. He was known
among his people for his stories, and many believed that his adventures weren t true. He met many
people in Asia, one of the most important person being Kublai Khan, the Khagan of the Mongol
Empire at that time. Later, Polo was captured and taken to a prison, where he wrote his first book.
Basically, Marco Polowas an explorer that went through many adventures.
Marco Polo was born in Venice, Italy on September 15, 1254. His father was NiccolГІ Polo and
mother was Nicole Anna Defuseh. He was born to a wealthy Venetian merchant family, but his
mother died when he was young, so young Marco was raised by his extended family. He was
raised by his extended family because his father and uncle, Maffeo Polo, successful jewel
merchants, were in Asia on a trading expedition for most of his childhood.
After Marco s father and uncle came back, they set out for Asia again, but this time they brought
Marco with them. The Polos journey was challenging and took place on land. But through it all,
Marco enjoyed the adventure. His later memory for the places and cultures he saw was

Marco. They planned to stay in Asia for only a

The Remains Of The Day
Protagonists of novels should be relatable and realistic. They should be individuals with whom
readers can easily identify, and consequently should be painted with as much humanity as possible.
Mr. Stevens, the protagonist of Kazuo Ishiguro s novel The Remains of the Day, is no exception.
He is meant to be an incredibly human character, and consequently it makes sense that the reader
should seek to define his flaws and limits, and whether or not he exhibits spiritual imprisonment , as
Robert Stone terms it. Of course, it is necessary to identify exactly what spiritual imprisonment is.
At its core, spiritual imprisonment can be defined as someone being restricted by someone or
something else from pursuing what they value. The character of Stevens that Ishiguro draws in his
short narrative, and the personal values that Stevens subtly exhibits, suggest that Stevens, while
misguided in his values for a large portion of the book, is free to pursue those values, and
consequently is not spiritually imprisoned.
Before delving further into an analysis of Ishiguro s protagonist, it is absolutely necessary to
identify exactly what Stevens values. He values and meditates on throughout the entirety of the
novel dignity. Specifically, Stevens posit[s] that dignity has to do crucially with a butler s ability
not to abandon the professional being he inhabits (Ishiguro, 42). Moreover, he reflects that the great
butlers are great by virtue of their ability to inhabit their

Attractions in Seville
There s an enormous amount to see and do in the city of Seville. As well as the extensive Roman
and medieval heritage present in the ancient city around the cathedral and palace, Seville has an
inexhaustible range of retail shops alongside a few more modern attractions. The sprawling theme
park Isla Magica and the Seville Modern Art Museum to the north are worth visiting. If you re
looking for a quieter day out, the Seville Aquarium and the parks at the centre of the city might be
more to your taste.

College Experience In College
After high school ends, most young people take the track to college. The college experience can
be both exciting yet scary. There are so many new adjustments to make and there s a whole lot
more responsibility on your shoulders as an adult. However, there s no need to stress out about
the process. As you begin your collegiate career, it s best to remember a few key tips to be
successful. Implement these tips as soon as you possibly can and they will serve you well in your
collegeyears.
1. Maintain an income stream.
Many people will discourage you from working during your first semester in college. The intentions
are well meaning. They don t want you to struggle with juggling work and school at the same
time. However, college is your first opportunity into the real world. In the real world, adults have
to take care of themselves. If you have a car, you re going to need to purchase gas. If you ever
want to fly home for the holiday breaks, you re going to need to purchase a plane ticket. You ll
also need toiletries and necessities for daily living. In this case, it s wise to maintain a simple
part time job or side hustle. Whether the side hustle involves babysitting once or twice a week,
freelance writing gigs or working in the cafeteria at school, make sure you have a way to earn a bit
of money on a consistent basis.
2. Develop a morning ritual.
The morning is the the time when you have the most control. As the day goes on, things happen
and your schedule gets crowded.

Juvenile Vs Juvenile Justice System
The criminal justice system conducts trials, determines guilt, and decides what kind of punishments
to give to adults who have committed some sort of crime. Adults, however, are not the only ones
who commit crimes. Kids under 18 can commit crimes too. In 1899, the juvenile justice system
began to form. People thought that kids should be treated differently after committing crimes.
Being younger, they were believed to be more able to rehabilitate than adults, the criminal justice
system was believed to be too harsh for them, and some believed that juvenile s behavior was
based strongly on their parents and the society they lived in. In a peer reviewed article titled Are we
criminalizing adolescence? there is a statement that in a constitutional sense, youth are different
than adults. In this essay, I will talk about what the juvenile justice system is, what it does, how it is
different than the criminal justice system, and how some people believe it should change. As stated
before, the juvenile justice system began to take form around the 19th century. A simple definition
of the American criminal justice system, provided by Wikipedia, is the primary system used to
handle youth who are convicted of criminal offenses. The main goal of the American juvenile
justice system is to rehabilitate offenders. They want to intervene early in offender s lives, hoping
to prevent them from being repeat offenders when they become adults. Another peer reviewed
article titled Natural born

The No Child Left Behing Act
Introduction The Bush administration, as well as others, hoped to close achievement gaps and
bring all children up to a higher standard. In order to do this, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) was
enacted with the hope of an extreme education reform. It requires strict accountability and
assessments for schools. This was done without proper funding and expectations that are difficult
for schools and students to reach. This act caused many problems in schools rather than fixing the
problems that already existed.
Policy Formulation
The Social Problem
Many United States children are failing in the public schooling system. Students are dropping out
at alarming rates and those who stay are not properly prepared for college and careers. There are
vast achievement gaps leaving children behind that are minorities, come from low income families,
are disabled, and are English learning (U.S. Department of Education). These problems are
apparent to teachers, parents, students, employers, and society as a whole. This will leave the
United States with a workforce that is not properly educated or trained for the jobs available.
This ideology that all children regardless of income, minority, or disability should be able to
receive a quality education to prepare them for college and careers. One of the biggest causes of
this achievement gap is unequal funding. Poor, minority children are typically educated in urban
schools that receive less funding than schools in suburban areas that educate

Battle Of Britain Analysis
Trench Kids
After evaluating the image called Battle of Britain, many could conclude that the children were
intrigued by what was going on around them while they were in the center of the war, and that
each child was innocent yet greatly affected by the aftermath of the war. All in all, this image
portrays the struggles the children faced trying to understand what was going on around them,
living in a world surrounded by war and violence, and how it affected the people who lived in
Britain during this hard time, especially the young children of Britain.
The first thing that pops out to people when looking at this image, is the position of the children.

We can only imagine how hard it must be to be a young child during the time of war. Not only
did they have to deal with all of the fighting going on around them, but there was nothing they
could do about it. They could not help fight because they were too young, and they could not
leave where the fighting was happening because their parents were most likely involved in the
war. They were placed into a trench to keep them safe, but how safe could they really have been?
They were in street clothes and had no protection otherwise. I also found it neat that they were
able to capture black and white images during the war. The color of the picture can add an
ominous feeling, the dark colors portray how it was a dark time filled with many deaths and
tragedies. This picture and other ones similar to it provided good information on what it was like
during that time in history. For example, how civilians were in the middle of the fighting, what the
trenches looked like, and what the children looked like. Children today definitely do not look
anything like the children back at this time, they are dressed differently, and their overall

Are Solar Roadways the future?
In the beginning Scott and Julie Brusaw became open on the subject for creating solar powered
LED roadways, they have encountered an endless amount of doubt and even outright aggression.
The reaction was obviously expected given how new this sort of technology is. Not only is it
new, but it would quite difficult to execute the dream of electrifying roads and highways with
reinforced solar panels. Some questioned question if whether or not solar roadways are even
necessary. However, the most important company that governs American roads was willing to at

The LEDs can also be programmed to move along with cars at the speed limit, warning drivers

Central control stations will be able to instantly customize the lines and words in real time,
alleviating traffic congestion and making the roads more efficient as well as safer. Cities and
towns will be able to customize the lines for roads and parking spaces to meet their own unique

Currently, the city puts out orange cones to remark the parking places and block off streets for the

The Effect of Standard of Beauty toward Pecola in The...
The Bluest Eye is taking place around 1940 in Lorain, Ohio. During the year of 1940,
discrimination, especially toward African Americans, was still a serious problem. People
believe that whiteness is the standard of beauty. The main character, Pecola, who was a nine
years old African American, was influenced by how people view beauty. Pecola suffered and felt
that she is inferior to others. Pecola believed that having a pair of blue eyes would made people
think she is pretty, and would be the key resolving all the problems. What is beautiful? How do
people define beauty? People view differently. Usually, we judge people, first, from his or her
appearance then to their inherence. It is a common fact that appearance has an indirect... Show more

This concept affected Pecola how she views beauty. Pecola evaluated herself ugly, and wanted to
have a pair of blue eyes so that every problem could be solved. Pecola was an African American
and lived in a family with problems. Her father ran away because of crime, her brother left
because of their fighting parents, and was discriminated simply because she has dark skin.
Pecola is a passive person. She is almost destroyed because of her violent father, Cholly
Breedlove, who raped her own daughter after drinking. Because of this, Pecola kept thinking
about her goal to reach the standard of beauty. However, she was never satisfied with it. Pecola
believed once she become beautiful, fighting between her parents would no longer happen, her
brother would come back, and her father would no long be a rapist. No problem would exist
anymore. Besides the inherent self confident issue, the outside voice from community is also
affecting Pecola s view. For example, in the accident when Pecola went into Junior s house, Junior
killed the cat and impute to Pecola. His mother, Geraldine, saw Pecola was holding the dead cat.
Without any thought and didn t even ask for the truth, Geraldine simply called Pecola a nastylittle
black bitch. This event, again, reinforces Pecola s view of what beauty means. Tonis Morrison
slightly defined the value of beauty and demonstrated Pecola s desire to be

Last Duchess And Porphyrias Lover Analysis
Lover Vs. Duchess
(An Analysis of Porphyrias Lover and Last Duchess)
Robert Browning was an author in the nineteenth century. He was known for his writings of
dramatic monologues. Not all of Browning s poems were monologues, but his two most famous
poems were dramatic monologues. Dramatic monologues are poems that have a character that is
talking to a silent character in a critical moment. The character ends up revealing to the silent
character the dramatic situation in the poem. Robert Browning wrote two very similar yet disparate
poems called Last Duchess, and Porphyria s Lover.
The poems Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover are similar in many ways because both women
are killed by their men. In both poems the men are jealous and think of their women as property so
they had no problem killing their ladies. They didn t have respect for their women and don t treat
them like humans. The men thought they were doing what was right for them. To the men in the
story their women are just an item, something to show off. The time period of the poems were the
same, during the victorian era. In the victorian era women were seen as property not so much as
human beings. Women were to stay home, they were not allowed to have jobs. Just like this article
states, They were supposed to live a highly restrictive life with their life centered around their
husband and subsequently their children (Sutton). This statement in the article is talking about how
the victorian era didn t care so much

The Glass Menagerie And Death Of A Salesman Analysis
The Glass Menagerie was a well written novel that I enjoyed because of all the different aspects
of the characters lives and views of things. For example Laura an older single mother who wants
the best for her two grown children Laura who is 23 years old and Tom who is the older brother.
There father Mr. Wingfield abandoned them for long distance traveling and never came back so
Laurais taking care of them on her own. Her daughter Laura is shy and quiet girl who has a
crippled leg and cannot work because of it and her oldest son Tom is just like his father and wants
to get out of Chicago and travel but he works for a factory to provide for his family. So that is the
situation in the novel. The novel had little hints now and then about what was going to happen
like from the characters talking, the subtitles, and the dramatic music that played throughout the
play, so it was really easy to understand. The reason I chose this novel was because it was about a
play and because it was one of the shortest books. The Glass Menagerie reminded me of another
novel about a play called Death of a Salesman that I read from my last book project just like this
one in ninth grade. In a way both novels The Glass Menagerie and Death of a Salesman are very
similar because both families in the novels, the Wingfield family and the Loman family have the
same difficulties and situations like having no money, job difficulties, stressful lives, running away
from fears and worries, and husbands

Symbolism In Revelations
... In the days of their prophecy: [they will] have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to
smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. (Rev. 11:6). This connection between blood
and the beginning of the plague are a key theme throughout Revelations, and have continued in
modern literature through zombieism and AIDS. Although the End is usually spoken about within
the idea of naturalistic destruction on Earth, the End may be more humanthan that and come
unexpectedly from humanity itself: They are frightening for the very reason that they do not look
like our enemies at all... they look disturbingly like our co workers, neighbours, friends and

Ouanga; ... even though her skin appeared fully white, she still has black blood in her veins...
your white skin doesn t change what s inside you (47). This directly connects to AIDS and the

Essay On Quality Of Information With Sky
Quality of information with Sky can be improved in many ways, however these ways don t just
relate to Sky but most organisations. It important that the quality of information is good otherwise
it will be messy and confusing when the information is needed for a meeting or a project. Here are
just some ways that information can be improved with Sky.
Improving information quality
Information that is sourced must be made sure that where it was sourced from is reliable, data
that is collected from a primary source is often valid reliable and trustworthy. However if data is
collected from a secondary source its validity is questioned, a secondary source must be checked
that it is valid and up to date to make sure that there are no problems when ... Show more content on

For example at Sky if the research team were asking for additional funding to create a touch screen
controller for the Sky box, if the numbers and figures for the touch screen development market were
not correct then the person they were bidding to would be told invalid information and would have
been lied to resulting in no money going into the development as they would deem the research
team as untrustworthy with data let alone money.
Improving the information flow
Information flow can be improved at Sky easily, the flow can be made more efficient and more
effective for all the employees who work there.
Team specific communication is one way the flow can be improved, for example teams can be
paired with one another in order to let the information flow easier. For example the marketing team
can be paired with one another, the sales team can give a report of how many new Sky customers
and what ages they are which then in turn can cause the marketing team to create advertisements in
order to cater to that age range and gain more customers.
Once the flow is improved and a communication flow has been established the person sending the
information must ensure that the recipient has only the necessary information and not anything
extra. This will make it

Educating a Learner
Bastable asserts that educating others is one of the most essential interventions that a nurse
performs (2014, p.114). Although in an interventional situation, the patient is the learner, it is just
as important that the nurses caring for those patients have current, evidence based knowledge. In
either case, two roles exist; educator and learner. Bastable (2014) adds that there are several aspects
of the learner that must be assessed in order to competently achieve the educational goal.

Charles Darwin Chapter 7
Chapter 7 revolves around beginnings of human research into the idea of evolution and an
introduction of Charles Darwin s theory of evolution. This chapter has given us, as students, more
knowledge and insight into the topic of evolution. Since we were little kids, we always thought of
evolution as the theory that establishes the link between humans and monkeys or that the phrase
Survival of the fittest meant that the strongest always prevailed over the weak. However, this
chapter has given us more detailed knowledge and background information about evolution,
allowing us to lift these rumors and myths from our minds.
Throughout this chapter, we have learnt about multiple new concepts and topics such as the

It was interesting to learn about this theory that has become the basis of many vital concepts
concerning biology. He changed the way we see things in our universe. It was also very intriguing
to see that Charles was very hesitant to publish his book because he feared that it might not be
taken serious or that it would be thought of as rubbish. Therefore, he spent multiple years piecing
together his observations and lots of evidence to support his theory. This is very similar to
modern day because multiple people are very reluctant about what they say or do because of how
society will react or the backlash they will receive.
This unit has also opened me up to a new method of learning, which is more self oriented. I
personally do not enjoy this type of learning because it removes the way I prefer to learn. I

this is too open and liberal. It allows the student to dictate on their own terms and

Argumentative Essay On Creation Vs Evolution
Students and adults often have questions about the way humans and our world came into being.
Some of the questions are, What is the difference between creation and evolution? and Is evolution
more valid than creation? Evolutionists tend to say that the debate between creationism and
evolution is about the Bible versus science. In reality, the debate is about good science versus bad
science. Thanks to the ongoing debate between creationismand evolution, people have continued to
explore different areas of science to develop a greater understanding of how we came to exist.
Research has led us to surmise that creationism is supported by more scientific evidence than
various thoughts on evolution.
One of the most well known points of the theory of evolution is that life evolved from a tiny
organism to what it is now.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What if instead of a common ancestor, all species have a common creator? Supporters of
evolution often attempt to use natural selection to prove their point. Natural selection is the
process where the organisms which are better adapted to their environments tend to survive and
produce more offspring than other organisms. For this to be a valid argument, Eskimos would
have grown heavy fur to stay warm, and humans that live in the tropics would have smooth, shiny
skin to help them stay cool. Currently, Eskimos have normal skin and wear coats to keep warm,
while people who live in the tropics have darker skin. Another example that disproves natural
selection is seen in different types of animals. Bears, tigers, lions, and other animals have heavy
fur, even though they live in hot climates. A jungle leopard that lives in hot climates has the same
amount of fur as a snow leopard that lives in freezing cold climates. All of these examples show
that natural selection, which is a key point of evolution, is

The Reason Behind Discovery
The Reason behind Discovery Once I found this painting my initial reaction was that I wanted
to be able to see his face and was extremely bothered by the apple in the front. As I continued to
look at the photo I soon realized that I could actually see both of his eyes to the slightest extent.
After noticing this I was somewhat relieved that I could at lease see a small amount. The piece
of the painting that drew most of my attention simply because I felt that it was completely out of
place. Therefore by it being there I was both confused and upset at the same time. At this point I
had not reading the meaning behind why the author had decided to place it there and therefore
was confused and began to think that I was possibly looking at a modified painting of some
kind. The man can be seen as a problem and the apple can be seen as a distraction from the
problem. There are several techniques that were utilized the artists in order to cause the viewer to
react in specific ways. One of these is by making the painting completely balanced by placing the
man and the apple in the direct center of the painting. Not only did the artist place the object in the
center but he also made the rest of the objects in the painting significantly lighter. By doing this it
causes the viewer to put more focus onto the man and the apple. In terms of dominance, the artist
made it so the man is the largest object inside of the photo and therefore most of the attention goes
towards him. The

and see gluten free food everywhere. Thankfully, for the celiac disease community, life has
become a little easier with these accommodations. When most people hear celiac disease many
just think gluten free diets, but they do not realize that celiac disease can affect all parts of the
body and mind, or that the disease has a higher prevalence in women. It is a new lifestyle that
many have to take on. In the next few pages, I will discuss the affects that this disease has on the
body systems, the lifestyle changes many make when diagnosed with celiac disease, and the
importance of educating those who are dealing with the disease on a day to day basis. I also will
discuss information from two articles which focus in on the direct affects that the disease takes
on women living with it, and the lifestyle changes that are necessary to manage the symptoms.
Celiac disease is seen in about 1 2% of the population, with a 2:1 woman to men ratio (Lisa Ring
Jacobsson, 2011). I choose this topic because celiac disease and gluten free diets seem to be on
the rise. In the past, the diet and lifestyle changes for people with celiac disease was very
challenging, but in recent years there has been an increase in the amount of people being diagnosed
with celiac disease. There is much more information out there about these special diets. Life has
become much easier for those with celiac

the only unit sales volume is not very high. The old fashioned products are usually replaced by a
new version in pretty short time. Concept products are less systemization compared with Focus
products. Focus products focus on a small handful of customers with large size of each order.
Variety: CDS has an excellent new product development process. It usually takes around three
months to get a new mould, which then has to be tested. For the help of bonus payment, they have
good output and excellent productivity. The products are flexible according to the market condition
and customer needs. Concept products and the whole design, manufacture, sales, distribution
process is rather complex. The new product development department receive detailed drawings of
the new products from the Design Office managed by Marketing department, which shows CDS

  • 2. The Five Stages Of Tuckman s Theory Group Work This work will focus on the meaning, the five stages of Tuckman s theory, the approaches and the uses of group work. Group work refers to a method of social work practice which is concerned with the recognition and use of processes which occur when three or more people work together towards a common purpose (Trevithick, 2005). According to Garvin, Gutierrez and Galinsky (2004), the properties that can be use to describe and change group on which the influence may have an impact include group characteristics, competencies, conditions, change and context. A group should be small between five to nine persons, so that each one will be able to relate and engage every member in the group. The group is viewed as a system, the condition of any member affects the other (Fatout, 1992). The five stage Tuckman s theory (1965) namely forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning focuses on the way in which a group handles a task from the beginning to completion. The main group work approaches are cognitive behaviourist, feminist, psychoanalytic and humanistic approaches. Knowledge of theory enhances effectiveness of group work. Since much of our time is spend in groups, it is helpful to work in groups because it will give an opportunity to improve their human functioning. Group work helps to develop individual skills in communication, relationship building and asserting oneself (Lindsay and Orton, 2014). Some target groups might be difficult to work with, but they ... • 3. The Quality Risk Management Plan The quality risk management plan for this case study scenario includes identifying areas of risk and healthcare errors, in order to protect future patients from having their safety compromised. The case study describes two patients who received wrong site surgery; which is considered a sentinel event preventable and should never occur. According to a report by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Patient Safety Network (2015) titled Wrong Site, Wrong Procedure, and Wrong Patient Surgery, wrong site surgery is the most frequent type of sentinel event. It is approximated that wrong site surgeries take place forty times per week in America (Clark, 2011). This agency encouraged banks, building and loan associations, etc. to make loans for building homes, small business establishments, and farm buildings. If the FHA approved the plans, it would insure the loan ( National Housing Act by John Simkin ). The Most of the borrowing that took place during the housing bubble was mostly mortgage debt. Low interest rates and the expanded availability of mortgage loan especially subprime mortgages which extended credit to borrowers with weak financial records made home ownership more attractive and attainable for millions of Americans. With the expectation that home prices would keep rising, people not only bought more houses, they also bought bigger houses and accelerated renovations of existing homes ( Cause the great depression by Muddy Water Macro ) .The recession was an economic downturn which means nothing was an order doing this time. Is it because of low self esteem, envy, fear of rejection/feeling threatened or part of our culture or religion. Let s explore Young Goodman Brownto see if there is a lesson to be learned about the dangers of being judgmental. Brown is a young man living in the seventeen centuries and in Salem a town known as the capital of witchcraft. Hawthorne references three dark events from the Puritans history: the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, the Puritan intolerance of the Quakers, and King Philip s War. During the Salem Witch Trials, one of the most nightmarish episodes in Puritan history, the villagers of Salem killed twenty five innocent people who were accused of being witches. The witch hunts often involved accusation based on revenge, jealousy, botched child delivery and other reason that had little to do with perceived witchcraft. Beginning with The Great Train Robbery in 1903, Western films have gained international many parts of Europe and Mexico in addition to the United States. One classic example of a Western feature (full length) film is True Grit (1969), which stars John Wayneas the strong, memorable protagonist, Rooster Cogburn. Although the film follows many filmic conventions regarding the formula of the Westerngenre, it also defies certain conventions, thus serving as an example of a revisionist Western. These qualities also carry over into the recent remake, True Grit(2010), which contains the same plot as the original while making use of modern cinematic techniques in order to make the film more exciting, dramatic and accessible for a modern audience. Prior to the release of True Grit (1969), John Wayne had played starring roles in countless other Western films, including Stagecoach (1939) and The Searchers (1956). By the 1960s, John Wayne gained vast recognition among many audiences as the definitive celluloid icon of the American Western. Originally the song was done by Kim Wilde, off of her 1981 self titled debut (however, I chose the version by The Muffs as it s a bit grittier.) This song simply seems to be about how the kids in America are who decide what music becomes popular; it also mentions a new wave, which could easily be referring to the new wave music of the 80s that would become very prevalent in the music scene. • 18. Education Is The Best Form Of Population Control Education is the best form of population control. I believe that population control policies are not necessary. As the world becomes more industrialized and equality becomes more prevalent, the total fertility rate goes down. We should not worry about implementing policies that lead to neglect and abuse but should be working towards educating women and giving them equal rights. The ability to make educated decisions is the most powerful driving force of all in my opinion. In the twentieth century the world saw a population boom. This was not because women were having more babies, but because of the technological and healthcare advances made in the last century. In 1960, women around the world were having an average of 5 children. By 2009, the world total fertility rate was cut in half. Women today are having an average of 2.5 children (SUZUKI, 2014). I believe this is because women have been empowered by knowledge and a world that is becoming smaller through technological advancements. Today we can get from one side of our world to the other in a matter if hours, where previously it would take months to sail from place to place. Information and ideas are also being transferred at the speed of light. They should be individuals with whom readers can easily identify, and consequently should be painted with as much humanity as possible. Mr. Stevens, the protagonist of Kazuo Ishiguro s novel The Remains of the Day, is no exception. He is meant to be an incredibly human character, and consequently it makes sense that the reader should seek to define his flaws and limits, and whether or not he exhibits spiritual imprisonment , as Robert Stone terms it. Of course, it is necessary to identify exactly what spiritual imprisonment is. At its core, spiritual imprisonment can be defined as someone being restricted by someone or something else from pursuing what they value. The character of Stevens that Ishiguro draws in his short narrative, and the personal values that Stevens subtly exhibits, suggest that Stevens, while misguided in his values for a large portion of the book, is free to pursue those values, and consequently is not spiritually imprisoned. Before delving further into an analysis of Ishiguro s protagonist, it is absolutely necessary to identify exactly what Stevens values. He values and meditates on throughout the entirety of the novel dignity. Specifically, Stevens posit[s] that dignity has to do crucially with a butler s ability not to abandon the professional being he inhabits (Ishiguro, 42). Juvenile Vs Juvenile Justice System The criminal justice system conducts trials, determines guilt, and decides what kind of punishments to give to adults who have committed some sort of crime. Adults, however, are not the only ones who commit crimes. Kids under 18 can commit crimes too. In 1899, the juvenile justice system began to form. People thought that kids should be treated differently after committing crimes. Being younger, they were believed to be more able to rehabilitate than adults, the criminal justice system was believed to be too harsh for them, and some believed that juvenile s behavior was based strongly on their parents and the society they lived in. In a peer reviewed article titled Are we criminalizing adolescence? there is a statement that in a constitutional sense, youth are different than adults. In this essay, I will talk about what the juvenile justice system is, what it does, how it is different than the criminal justice system, and how some people believe it should change. As stated before, the juvenile justice system began to take form around the 19th century. • 24. The No Child Left Behing Act Introduction The Bush administration, as well as others, hoped to close achievement gaps and bring all children up to a higher standard. In order to do this, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) was enacted with the hope of an extreme education reform. It requires strict accountability and assessments for schools. This was done without proper funding and expectations that are difficult for schools and students to reach. This act caused many problems in schools rather than fixing the problems that already existed. Policy Formulation The Social Problem Many United States children are failing in the public schooling system. Students are dropping out at alarming rates and those who stay are not properly prepared for college and careers. There are vast achievement gaps leaving children behind that are minorities, come from low income families, are disabled, and are English learning (U.S. Department of Education). These problems are apparent to teachers, parents, students, employers, and society as a whole. This will leave the United States with a workforce that is not properly educated or trained for the jobs available. This ideology that all children regardless of income, minority, or disability should be able to receive a quality education to prepare them for college and careers. One of the biggest causes of this achievement gap is unequal funding. Poor, minority children are typically educated in urban schools that receive less funding than schools in suburban areas that educate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They were placed into a trench to keep them safe, but how safe could they really have been? They were in street clothes and had no protection otherwise. I also found it neat that they were able to capture black and white images during the war. The color of the picture can add an ominous feeling, the dark colors portray how it was a dark time filled with many deaths and tragedies. This picture and other ones similar to it provided good information on what it was like during that time in history. In the beginning Scott and Julie Brusaw became open on the subject for creating solar powered LED roadways, they have encountered an endless amount of doubt and even outright aggression. During the year of 1940, discrimination, especially toward African Americans, was still a serious problem. People believe that whiteness is the standard of beauty. The main character, Pecola, who was a nine years old African American, was influenced by how people view beauty. Pecola suffered and felt that she is inferior to others. Pecola believed that having a pair of blue eyes would made people think she is pretty, and would be the key resolving all the problems. What is beautiful? How do people define beauty? People view differently. Usually, we judge people, first, from his or her appearance then to their inherence. It is a common fact that appearance has an indirect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept affected Pecola how she views beauty. Pecola evaluated herself ugly, and wanted to have a pair of blue eyes so that every problem could be solved. Pecola was an African American and lived in a family with problems. Her father ran away because of crime, her brother left because of their fighting parents, and was discriminated simply because she has dark skin. Pecola is a passive person. She is almost destroyed because of her violent father, Cholly Breedlove, who raped her own daughter after drinking. Because of this, Pecola kept thinking about her goal to reach the standard of beauty. However, she was never satisfied with it. Pecola believed once she become beautiful, fighting between her parents would no longer happen, her brother would come back, and her father would no long be a rapist. No problem would exist anymore. Besides the inherent self confident issue, the outside voice from community is also affecting Pecola s view. For example, in the accident when Pecola went into Junior s house, Junior killed the cat and impute to Pecola. His mother, Geraldine, saw Pecola was holding the dead cat. • 30. Last Duchess And Porphyrias Lover Analysis Lover Vs. Duchess (An Analysis of Porphyrias Lover and Last Duchess) Robert Browning was an author in the nineteenth century. He was known for his writings of dramatic monologues. Not all of Browning s poems were monologues, but his two most famous poems were dramatic monologues. Dramatic monologues are poems that have a character that is talking to a silent character in a critical moment. The character ends up revealing to the silent character the dramatic situation in the poem. Robert Browning wrote two very similar yet disparate poems called Last Duchess, and Porphyria s Lover. The poems Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover are similar in many ways because both women are killed by their men. In both poems the men are jealous and think of their women as property so they had no problem killing their ladies. They didn t have respect for their women and don t treat them like humans. The men thought they were doing what was right for them. To the men in the story their women are just an item, something to show off. The time period of the poems were the same, during the victorian era. In the victorian era women were seen as property not so much as human beings. Women were to stay home, they were not allowed to have jobs. There father Mr. Wingfield abandoned them for long distance traveling and never came back so Laurais taking care of them on her own. Her daughter Laura is shy and quiet girl who has a crippled leg and cannot work because of it and her oldest son Tom is just like his father and wants to get out of Chicago and travel but he works for a factory to provide for his family. So that is the situation in the novel. The novel had little hints now and then about what was going to happen like from the characters talking, the subtitles, and the dramatic music that played throughout the play, so it was really easy to understand. The reason I chose this novel was because it was about a play and because it was one of the shortest books. The Glass Menagerie reminded me of another novel about a play called Death of a Salesman that I read from my last book project just like this one in ninth grade. Thanks to the ongoing debate between creationismand evolution, people have continued to explore different areas of science to develop a greater understanding of how we came to exist. Currently, Eskimos have normal skin and wear coats to keep warm, while people who live in the tropics have darker skin. Another example that disproves natural selection is seen in different types of animals. Bears, tigers, lions, and other animals have heavy fur, even though they live in hot climates.
