Crooks In An Expensive School
The quote, The more expensive a school is, the more crooks it has , caught my attention because not
many would expect that an expensive school would have crooks in it. Most people wouldn t expect
that there are more crooks in an expensive school since in a society only upper class and some middle
class people would be able to afford to go to an expensive school. People would think the types of
people that go to an expensive school must be respectable and have a good nature, since they are
trying to become educated and prepared for the world. Instead, according to Holden there are more
crooks in an expensive school than other types of schools. In a way this makes sense because the
children that go to expensive schools must be from a family

The Effects of Political Parties on a Democracy Essay...
The Effects of Political Parties on a Democracy
There are indeed several aspects in the composition of political parties that threaten democracy in the
UK, whilst other aspects may promote democracy. Careful analysis must be done in order to establish
to what extent either is true.
On the one hand, it may be argued that parties in fact promote democracy for a variety of reasons.
Firstly, they assist the electorate by offering them a coherent choice, allowing people to vote
democratically. Rather than the electorate having to choose between several members of each party,
and having to place votes for central government subsequent to placing local constituency votes,
voting is made simple and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1997, New Labour capitalised on the number of women who were elected, establishing the
impression that the party is female friendly . The Conservative party is also aiming to recruit more
women and ethnic minority candidates in time for the upcoming general election in May 2005. It has
also given higher platforms to those women already elected: Several years ago, Theresa May was
appointed as party chairman. Not only by modernising themselves to represent current populations in
Britain, parties also modernise themselves by generating new ideas for changing times. The labour
party is the most famous for adapting its policies and ideology. Labour changed its name to New
Labour under the leadership of Tony Blair in 1997, to reflect these radical changes. At this time
Labour chose to adapt its policies, and lose a lot of its socialist values. Under Old Labour state
ownership was held under high regard. But after Thatcher s privatisation of state businesses, Labour
acknowledged that it would be dangerous to radically reform businesses and bring them back under
state ownership, thus they modernised their policies adapting them to the New Britain, by sticking to
privatisation which had been warmly received. This promotes democracy, as policies are adapted to
suit the electorate, rather than parties imposing unwanted, outdated ideologies upon its

Research Paper On The United Kingdom
Country Overview
The United Kingdom is an island nation off the western coast of Europe, comprised of the four nations
of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. With a total population of 64.4 million people over
nearly 242,000 sq. kilometers, the United Kingdom (commonly shortened to the UK) is the fourth
most densely populated country in Europe. The majority of the population is centered around a few
cores, most notably the capital of London. Other major population centers include Manchester,
Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool. (All facts and figures in the above paragraph are from the
United States Central Intelligence Agency.)
The majority language spoken in the UK is English, although with some variations in spelling and
vocabulary from the English spoken in the United States. Some regional languages exist, such as
Gaelic, Scots, or Cornish. The currency of the United Kingdom is the British Pound. The current
conversion of the British Pound to the U.S. Dollar is 1 GBP = 1.2236 USD (Bird).
Culture and Customs
The population make up is similar to that of the United States and Canada. The majority of the
population identifies as white, with a descending percentage of minority ethnicities or nationalities.
While people in the United Kingdom are generally accepting of various religions it would still be best
to avoid this topic of conversation. Negative past events can make for uncomfortable, or even hostile,
emotions. It is also wise to avoid discussing politics

Research Paper On Labia Majora
The mons veneris is a female external sex organ and is fatty tissue on the front of the body which
covers the joint of the pubic bones. The fatty tissue provides a cushion for the female during
intercourse. This area grows genital hair and it is important for the female and partners to know that
each person can develop different hair texture and color. The labia majora is another female external
sex organ. This is the large folds of skin along the vulva. They have plenty of nerve endings which can
be stimulated and pleasurable. It is important for the female and partners to know that the labia majora
can be different in women including some can be thick, bulging, thin, or flat. The clitoris is a female
external sex organ and is about 1 inch long but varies in different women. It is important for the

Propaganda And Manipulation – Hardcore Investments
Propaganda Manipulation HardcoreInvestments
Today the term propaganda carries an unfortunate implication that suggests dishonest and calculating
tactics, however that was not the original meaning intended for the term.
The word propaganda was derived from the Latin title of a committee of Roman Catholic cardinals,
the Congregatio de Propaganda Fide (Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith).
This committee was called propaganda for short, and was established by Pope Gregory XV in 1622 to
administer and provide overall leadership to Christian missionaries for the purpose of proselytism.
Gradually, propaganda has come to mean any effort to spread a doctrine or ideology.
Notably, in the past many prominent people have used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If you sense an appeal to your emotions, ask yourself, when viewed dispassionately, what are the

Additionally, the use of popular opinion to further suggestive manipulation. is is rife among powerful

First Trade Bank USA (FTB)
First Trade Bank, USA, is a regional financial institution and mid tier US bank with trade finance
operations and capabilities centered around the US Midwest, and no Canadian presence to date. FTB
has had good success as a niche provider of trade services, and has strong relationships with several
Canadian businesses seeking to establish operations in the US. FTB offers an adequate range of trade
products, though Technon perceives that its advisory capabilities are limited.
The Need
Technon has identified several major needs and expectations in terms of international and trade
finance banking products and services. In addition to extending additional credit in support of planned
international expansion, the Company seeks to establish a relationship with a financial institution that
understands the challenges of a SME expanding its international reach.
The company expects to deal in both import and export transactions, in a combination of documentary
letter of credit and open account transactions. Its primary markets will be the United States, China,
India and possibly a foray into the European Union through Ireland.
Technon requires significant support in terms of advisory services and transactional hand holding , and

Understanding The Application Of Emotional Intelligence
Connor Hennessy
Understanding the Application of Emotional Intelligence In Negotiations
The art of negotiation has many factors which can determine the outcome of win, lose, compromise,
or in some instances where the negotiation ends in a standstill. One of the more influential factors that
can determine an outcome of any negotiation is emotional intelligence. We can expect that with every
faucet that goes into negotiation, emotional intelligence ranks higher than most techniques, because it
creates an unquantifiable link between the negotiating parties.
Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been around for over a decade, however, it is still being developed in
the business sector of negotiation. It is recognized by senior and upper level ... Show more content on

If we exert negative emotions such as anger, irritability, impatience, and sadness we leave ourselves
open to manipulation, and create communication barriers that did not exist prior to our outbursts.
Spontaneous reactions or negative emotions such as blushing, embarrassment, aggressiveness, or
retaliation can reveal or true intentions or our primary goals and objectives. This makes us vulnerable
and the other issue can obtain concessions that weren t originally available. (Lewicki, Saunders, Barry,
Negotiation Reading and Exercises 6th Ed. 2009) EI comes into play to help avoid these situations,
and to keep us calm and level headed.
Godemans, basic premise on emotional intelligence is taken from Do Purchasing Professionals Need
Emotional Intelligence? (2002) Godeman introduces EI under the premise of Emotional Quotient
(EQ), it gauges the individual s perceptions and attributes which define EI. In a sense, it s a
benchmark, a measurement of their EI in relation to others. Godeman states these elements as The
Seven Pillars to EI. These elements are defined by: Self Awareness, the ability to recognize your own
feelings. Motivation is the drive and energy to achieve the results for both long and short term goals.
Interpersonal Sensitivity, the ability to be aware of the needs and feelings of others, this can impact a
negotiation as a loss or win. Intuition: the ability to use insight and interaction to arrive at and
implement decisions

A Virtual Community By Rene Lysloff
A virtual community is a type of imagined community and is a difficult concept to define; the
ambiguous nature of this concept is highlighted by the many definitions created by researchers. A
Virtual Community is when Individuals communicate and form a relationship with each other in a
computer mediated space with the use of technology .
Anthropologists undergo the practice of participation observation on the internet , allowing them to
experience a virtual community; this shapes their understanding and knowledge of this concept. For
that reason each individual has different criteria which they believe a community must correlate to, in
order for it to be classed as a virtual community. Furthermore, another issue surrounding the ability ...

Furthermore, the Oxford definition states that a Virtual Community is a community of people sharing
common interests, Ideas and feelings over the Internet . However, this definition does not consider the
non physical space at which this community materializes , Cyberspace is a metaphor for this non
physical computer mediated terrain. Vangie Beal Cyberspace Webopedia
There are different types of Imagined Communities, including virtual and digital. In virtual
communities the people involved are characters and are non existent, an example of this is Cybercity.
Alternatively , Social Networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are considered digital as they
consist of people with real identities and the actions they make on the net have real effects outside of
Cyberspace . Barry Wellman, author of imagining twitter as an imagined community views Twitter to
as both real and Imagined, real because participants interact with each other and have decisions have
real life consequence and Imagined because they all share a sense of community . This imagined sense
of community corresponds to Benedict Anderson s view of nationalism. Benedict Anderson s concept
of Imagined Communities is a good starting point into understanding the concept of Virtual
Communities. In Benedict Anderson s book Imagined Communities Reflections of the origins and
spread of nationalism, he defines the nation as a imagined political community (B. Anderson 2006, p.7

Date Rape Essay
Rape defined is forcing sexual intercourse upon someone without his or her consent. This isn t just a
girls problem, boys have to deal with this too. According to the American Psychological Association,
nearly one in ten girls and one in twenty boys say they have been raped or experienced some form of
sexual assault (Atlanta Journal, 1). Almost more than half of rape victims know their attacker; they
don t report it or tell anybody. In most date rape cases, the attacker and victim have known each other

Ben Jerry s Data Warehouse
1. If I were to design Ben amp; Jerry s data warehouse I would use several dimensions of information.
The first dimension would consist of the company s products; ice cream, frozen yogurt or
merchandise. The marketing department has to know which products are selling, if Ben amp; Jerry s
didn t know that their T shirts are selling out as soon as they hit the stores, then they wouldn t be able
to take advantage of the opportunity to sell the shirts. The second dimension would consist of the
different areas of sales; US, Canada, Mexico, or Europe. I am not sure if they sell their ice cream in
Mexico, but with data collection they can find out if their ice cream would be a better seller in the hot
climate, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primary key for the Store file would be the store number, or code. Some of the foreign keys
would be; delivery dates, order dates, sales, and customer complaints. The Employee files primary key
would be an employee number. The foreign keys for the Employee files would be; start date, wage,
shift, employee address, paid time off, and absences. The Product file would have a primary key of
product name, for example, Cherry Garcia. The foreign keys would be product type (ice cream/frozen
yogurt), amount in stock, amount sold, ingredients, and comments. Comments sounds like a useless
bit of information, but I think it could be one of the most useful. When it comes to a decline in ice
cream sales a comment query could tell managers exactly what flavor people really want. In the case
Ben amp; Jerry s received a large number of complaints that it s Cherry Garcia ice cream didn t have
enough cherries in it. Using the business intelligence with Business Objects helped them discover a
problem with their packaging, and solve the problem.
3. What is the question that any business should be asking itself? How do we cut costs? Using
business intelligence, Ben amp; Jerry s can look at how they can cut costs. From a financial
perspective we could run a query to see what it costs to make the top 5 selling flavors, once

How Does Ravi Howard Use Foreshadowing In Driving The King
Ravi Howard s Driving the King is a fictional novel full of problems associated with racial

While in Kilby, life went on without him and so did Mattie. Halfway into Weary s time in Kilby,
Mattie gets married and has twins. Weary is now hopeless and really not motivated or inspired by life
like he was when he was in a relationship with Mattie. However, for the first time since Mattie s last
encounter, things might be looking healthy and positive for Weary s love life. Weary and Lucinda, a
friend of Evelyn, meet at a midnight show and a great relationship is formed from the start. In Driving
the King, Howard uses foreshadowing in first conversation Weary and Lucinda ever have: Happy to
meet you, Weary. She hit a sweet note when she said as much, like she was starting off a song (206).
From this conversation, the reader can interpret that Weary has finally moved on from the hurt Mattie
caused him because he is having such passionate thoughts already. This is the first time, since he has
been with Mattie, that he is intrigued by a woman s presence and not simply lusting after her flesh. In
Driving the King, Howard provides another example of foreshadowing that suggests to the reader that
Weary finally has closure with Mattie: Here s to being gone from everywhere but right here. I ll take
being here, right now, over anyplace in the world (207). One might predict from Weary s toast that he
has strong feelings for Lucinda, and he may finally be able to move

to $4 billion. 6,400 employees moved into the bank s $730 million headquarters. Nevertheless, there
are still clouds on the horizon. The profit indicators for 2004 do not include Abbey which lost money
in 2003 and is not fully integrated into company yet.
Mergers and acquisitions in financial services business area are very common and result in
consolidation of the business unit. Acquisition is beneficial for all sides involved and Santander s
acquisition of Abbey National of the UK is an evidence of this. Abbey has a major position in the
United Kingdom mortgage market. Its strong distribution network represents for Banco Santander and
Abbey shareholders a valuable opportunity: application of Banco Santander s commercial and

The War Of Mass Destruction
In a war of mass destruction and huge weaponry, development of the next big offensive device was on
the minds of all the leaders involved. Many of these weapons were designed in secret laboratories
under the top scientists and physicists in the world. High emphasis and funding put into these designs,
the developments flourished. Some of these weapons were unbelievable successes, making their way
to the battlefield and meeting all the expectations set by their imaginative creators. Others, however,
did not make it any further than the testing unit. Numerous previously unheard of ideas were
presented, several being far ahead of their time. This was the cause for some of the weapons failures.

During its final testing, however, the Panjandrum nearly killed a filmer of the event, roaring towards
him and shooting rockets in every direction. Due to safety reasons, the project was discontinued after
that final test. Barnes Wallis, also British, designed what was called an Earthquake Bomb. This was a
bomb that fell from high above the earth, penetrated the ground, exploded, and caused an earthquake.
It was used towards the end of the war, on massively reinforced installations, underground caverns,
buried tunnels, and bridges. Some of Wallis bombs based on the Earthquake Bomb were used to
disable the German V2 factory, bury V3 guns, sink Tirpitz, the battleship, and other previously
undamageable targets. Another British bomb designed by Barnes Wallis was the Bouncing Bomb. The
concept was a bomb that bounced across water to avoid torpedo nets. It was designed to allow speed
and time of detonation to be pre determined. In May of 1943, a Bouncing Bomb was used to explode
German dams underwater, having a similar effect to Wallis other design, the earthquake bomb. Also in
the family of bombs developed by Great Britain, was the E61 Anthrax Bomb. This was a biological
bomblet, sub munition for the E133 cluster bomb. Within in was thirty five milliliters of anthrax
spores, or other pathogen,on 30.600 sharp flechettes. The anthrax bombs were relatively lightweight
and portable, because even just a scratch would prove lethal.

During his period of reclusiveness, Davis studied law and history in his free time as he was building

Physics Of Oscillations In Physics
This report investigates resonance phenomena of driven damped simple harmonic oscillations by
measuring accelerations and frequencies of an oscillator. Since it turned out that oscillations with low
damping have smaller errors than those with high damping, small damping cases are employed to
examine the resonance phenomena. Based on the Newton s 2nd Law cite{book}, the motion of
oscillations can be modeled by the following differential equation and its solution.

In total, 16 experimental data points have been taken after settling to each steady state for various
driven frequencies. The voltage data obtained in Lab View is then converted to the acceleration data
by multiplying its amplitudes by the slope of the two calibration points. Here, the voltage data is
calibrated with gravity only and with no acceleration. The slope is called calibration factor. Errors for
accelerations are the calibration factor times the error of the cursor measurements of Lab View, and
that is the minimum difference Lab View can measure. Errors for the phase shifts are obtained by

The Ethics Of The Fire Department
Introduction
The firefighting departments across the globe have met public criticisms over their services. The Fire
Department have also experienced media bashing on a number of occasions. Some of the criticisms
have no basis and could be personal hatred projected towards the emergency response body. Some
criticisms on the other hand, are based on factual evidence. The most important thing that comes out is
the need for the Fire Department to come up with measures to market its image to the critics, both
public and the media. Just like any other organization in public service, the Fire Department needs to
ensure that they offer quality services to the consumers and that whatever they do is effectively
communicated. The other challenge they have to deal with is the ignorance on the part of the public.
Some of the criticisms they receive can be linked absolute lack of awareness and misunderstanding on
the part of the citizens about the role of the Fire Department. The Fire Department in an attempt to
market itself and redeem its public image has to come up with a strategic plan that covers two broad
areas, efficient service delivery and effective achievements communication. Managing public
perception about the brand is a key component in Public Service Management.
Discussion
There several strategic steps that can be taken by the Fire Department in order to curb the negative
effects of negative publicity and to market itself. The first strategy is communication management.

Use of Nature in Poetry Essay example
Poetry Poets use many ways when they want to communicate something using poems. Poems are used
as a means of passing ideas, information and expression of feelings. This has made the poets to use the
natural things and images that people can relate with so that they can make these poems
understandable. The most common forms of writing that are used by the poets are the figurative
language for example imagery and metaphors. In addition, the poets use the natural landscape in their
attempt to explore the philosophical questions. Therefore, this essay will explore the forms that have
been used by the poets in writing poems using the natural landscape. The essay will be based on

Shelley in his poem Ode to the West Wind has used similes in his poem. He states that, the leaves dead
are driven like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing. He also states that, the winged seeds where they lie
cold and low each like a corpse within its grave. As observed from these examples, the poets will use
these techniques to assist in easier interpretation of the poem. The poets also use metaphors when
writing poems. Metaphors refer to the use of certain words to mean otherwise in the context of the
poem. However, metaphors are sometimes hidden in the poem such that they require the reader to
figure out their existence in the poem. This will be easy when the poet employs the physical
environment that is well understood by the reader. In addition, metaphors will strengthen the ideas that
the poet wants to pass across. Metaphors will therefore make it easier for the readers to interpret and
understand the meaning that the poet intended to communicate. Shelley has used a metaphor in his
poem where he states ...Pestilence stricken multitudes . He states this to indicate to the reader that he
is not just addressing a pile of leaves. Therefore, this helps to understand the deeper meaning of the
poem. He also states about the wintry bed , which is meant to show his mood in the poem. Poets also
use the landscape in writing poems because of the inspiration that they get from such places. This
could be based on some memory or the history of the place and

Understanding The Family Dynamics, And School Preparation
Dr. Sampson, Black and Brown: Race, Ethnicity, and School Preparation gives great insight into
understanding the family dynamics which relate to parental educational involvement. To the credit of
research design, I believe the case studies presented on youth living poor from low income
communities adequately assesses the needs of students. It is also a strength of Dr. Sampson research
that information is given on how parents can engage in their children s education although they may
be in the midst of poverty and lack. By actually showing ways in which low income families produce
cultural and social capital, Dr. Sampson creates an even playing ground for parent participation and
shows that low income families alike possess a great deal of knowledge, skill and care for educational
success. One of Dr. Sampson overarching ideas is that children and influences by parents attitude and
(or) behavior. There are many variables that influence student achievement, I agree with Dr. Sampson
that attitudes and behavior is perhaps the foundation for achievement outcomes. Common practices
such as parents helping with home work and properly supervising children are referenced as key
supports for academic success.
Other strengths of Dr. Sampson arguments include the critical assessment that community
organization, families and schools need to collaborate in effort to foster greater academic achievement
in students. By acknowledging all actors that create various learning environments for

Why I Want To Become A Registered Nurse
In my choice of majoring in the field of nursing I have come across multiple opinions and different
views on my decision. I have not had a family member, friend, or acquaintance tell me that I have
chosen wrong but I have been questioned on why I didn t choose accounting like the rest of my
family. My answer exactly, I have a desire to seek out and help those around me. I ve always told
myself and others that my future career would be something that was different every day. A registered
nurse earns a yearly salary of $60,000 or higher. Nursing is a career that will always be necessary and
important to have in the work industry, the world will always need another nurse. I chose the field of

They are not all exactly the same, which is one of the main reasons in the process of making my career
decision. I have an interest in meeting new people and seeing a variety of different occurrences. I
know that working as a registered nurse will not only further my knowledge, but will still be inspiring
to get up and go to work the next day. I could never see myself working in a career where I would sit
at a desk, doing the exact same work, every single day. If I were to have a career such as a desk job, I
would not have the desire to go to work and do my job sufficiently. A registered nurse can easily earn
sixty thousand or more as a yearly salary. In life I wish to be able to provide for my family and ensure
they have the necessities. Working hard as a registered nurse will provide the money to ensure my life
goals. Although I do support the fact that money is what provides necessities for a healthy, happy

goals I wish to achieve in my future and I know that by working as a nurse my knowledge and

Race in Sports Essay
There are many reasons why the number of minorities that participate is sports vary from sport to
sport. Race plays a big part in sports as well as in our society. Why is it that a group of people can
harass and abuse a young black male for raping a white female, but on the next Saturday at the big
football game cheer him on and hope that he has a great game. Over the years there have been some
great black sports players, in almost all sports. Michael Jordan, OJ Simpson, Mohamed Ali, Bo
Jackson, just to name a few. When players like these come along that are black and sort of take over a
sport, many white male sports fans say stuff like, He s black, he s faster than the white players. This
tends to be true, blacks dominate the speed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

great forward who has won a scoring title in the NHL for most goals scored in a single season, and
helped the Calgary Flames win the Stanley Cup. (NHL championship) Today the NHL is trying hard
to promote diversity in their league. Before each season every player is required to attend diversity
classes, and if a player chooses to talk trash during a game and use racial comments, it will cost them
big time, with fines and suspensions. There are forty five drivers on the NASCAR Nextel Cup; every
single one of them is white. There has never been a person of color to drive a racecar in the Winston

official George Pyne has teamed up with Magic Johnson and started a program to help encourage
minorities to try to race. There is one black driver on the NASCAR truck series and a couple in
smaller race series down south, but to this day none are on the Nextel Cup series. On the PGA tour, it
doesn t matter how fast you are, how much you can bench press, or how high you can jump, so why is

How Does Stereotypes Affect Society
There are numerous influences across the world that can affect society. Any patterns that prompts
certain behaviors are typically expected by certain groups. An individual perspective of what is most
important in life must do with our view of the world. There are also different behaviors in which we
may show within our community that cause society to either accepted those behaviors, or have
negative impact on us more so that we realize. We also have our generation beliefs that have been
passed down to us that we believe is true. It is up to us as people to decide what we will allow to have

How to Enjoy Cleaning Your Bedroom Essay
The hardest thing for a lot of students is keeping a clean bedroom. It can be very intimidating to clean
your bedroom, especially if its been a a disaster for quite some time. You may find yourself getting
overwhelmed and asking yourself where should you even start? Well in my experience I have had the
best results just by following three very simple steps, which include creating a good cleaning
environment, getting organized, and finally polishing everything up.
First and foremost before you begin cleaning; you need to create a good cleaning environment. You
can do this by simply putting on any music that you enjoy listening to; I recommend something that

In order to get organized; you need to get rid of any unwanted items that are laying around, such as
garbage, dirty dishes, and of course dirty clothes. Once you get all of these items in their designated
spots, you will be left with only the items that actually belong in your bedroom. From there you would
begin to start putting these remaining items in their proper place. I would suggest to start with folding
all of your clothes and getting them put away in either your dresser or closest because your clothes
often times take up the most space. Then you can focus on all of the other random things that are
scattered about.
Since you have everyting picked up and put in its proper place, you can start on the final step, which
consists of all the polishing and finishing touches. This is when you would get your cleaning products
ready because now all there is left to do is dust, sweep, and make your bed. It is very important that
you remember to dust and clean all the surfaces before you begin to sweep. If you decide to sweep
first, then once you start dusting you will only get more dust and dirt on the floor and therefore have to
sweep a second time. One last finishing touch that I personally like to do once the polishing is finished,
is light a candle. That way it will hide the smell of any cleaning products you may have used and your

Dualism In Stephen King
Aside from Shakespeare and Stevenson there are a plethora of authors who are as proficient or
possibly more adept at portraying the theme of a book, play, or poem. One considerable example is
Stephen King. He is an otherwise unusual author. King s books seem to depict theme in a
extraordinary way. His atrocious book IT has a rather nightmarish way of illustrating plot and theme.
The book, though rather monstrous and horrifying, is a great read for young adults. King does an
exceptional job at representing duality in IT. The story follows the lives of seven children as they are
tormented by a infernal entity that feeds off the fears and phobias of its victims to disguise itself while
preying on little kids. The creature, or It predominantly appears in the form of a clown to draw its
preferred prey of young children. All the while each member of the group has encountered the
terrifying life forms manifestation in its various shape shifting disguises; these include a malevolent
clown for Richie, a headless boy for Ben, a fountain of blood for Beverly, a diseased and rotting man
known as a Leper for Eddie, a creepy painting come to life for Stan, Mike s parents burning alive, and
finally an apparition of Georgie for Bill. King s main motive was to insinuate fear in the lives of kids,
in his book IT. Most children, around the age of 10 12, are afraid of something.. King stated in a 2013
interview that he came up with the idea for Pennywise after asking himself what scared

College tuitions is way too high in our country. They say that suny colleges tuitions are cheaper but it

that a student can apply for but if you think about it how many students are apply for it that s a big
chance that you don t get it. If you do get one it s not even enough to cover your college tuition. The
scholarship aren t for that much say if the scholarship if for 5,000 and the school that you re going to

Symptoms And Treatment Of Celiac Disease
Countless plagues, disorders, and diseases have cut many human lives short over the 160 thousand
years since Homo sapiens evolved from their ancestors. Since then, human s increasing knowledge of
medical science has allowed for them to thrive for much longer than their primitive predecessors.
These conditions have evolved in a costimulatory way with all species throughout life s evolution, and
although some of these situations are beneficial (symbiotic) many diseases benefit only one organism
at the expense of another (exploitative). Much like an exploitative situation an organism can cause a
disadvantageous situation for itself, such is the case in hypochondriasis which is when a person
believes that they have an illness and starts to develop symptoms because of this belief. Celiac disease
is an intestinal disorder caused by an autoimmune response to an individual s own tissue, this is
triggered by the ingestion of anything which contains gluten or gluten related products. On the other
hand, Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) mimics some of the symptoms found in Celiac disease
and it is generally a self diagnosed disease. From this, it is clearly seen that NCGS is a primary
example of hypochondriasis. Celiac disease is a very real, documented medical phenomenon while
NCGS, with little proof of its actual existence, is nothing more than a placebo that has started to affect
(for the most part) those in Western society.

The Tempest is a play that was written 118 years after Columbus famously sent his letter home in

Christopher Columbus letter home to the king and queen of Spain. One common characteristic that
both Shakespeare s Caliban and the natives in Columbus letter share is that they are both depicted as

is the simplest facts remaining real. Descartes knows that there are things that will always just be true

MK Ultra was a project formed by the CIA as a mind control program ( Project MKULTRA, 2016).
This program implemented a new way to interrogate by using torture and drugs such as marijuana and

thereby finishing the task with better efficiency (Leonard, Graham, Bonacum, 2004). All the members

all levels. Among these levels is the high school team level, which is commonly found among the
many sports on most high schools lists. At any level of competitive swimming, the swimmers
showcase their talents at highly anticipated swim meets. To the spectators swim meets are an exciting
venue to view the individual athlete s incredible talents. However, behind the scenes there is so much
more to be discovered. Although my visit confirmed my thoughts on how exciting the swim meet
atmosphere is, I was surprised to learn about the team aspect of a sport that is usually thought of as an
individual sport.
Like most high school swim meets, the district twelve swim meet started bright and early on a wintry
morning. It was around 6:30am, when the Samuel Clemens high school swim team boarded the bright
yellow school bus to venture out to the natatorium. This particular meet was being held at the Josh
Davis natatorium, which is a Northeast Side ISD facility. After a brief forty minute bus ride, the eager
team arrived to the gigantic two story brown building, that read Josh Davis Natatorium directly above
the front door. The parking lot was gradually filling up with more school

Hayneville Essay
Michael Johnson Interpretation of Return to Hayneville Class 1101, Mon and Wed 9:30 a.m.
December 1, 2010 Word count 874 In Gregory Orr s essay, Return to Hayneville , published by The
Virginia Quarterly Review, Orr revisited the place of his abduction by armed vigilantes in Alabama as
a Civil Rights worker in 1965. Even though the events of this essay take place in 1965, for Orr it
started with the death of his younger brother in a hunting accident when Orr was twelve. Holding the
gun that killed his younger brother, Orr believed that if his life began at twelve with his brother s
death, then his end, determined by the trajectory of that harsh beginning, could easily have taken place
six years later (125, 1). Orr ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jumping back into the past, Gregory Orr tells the incident when he and a group of five hundred of
men, women, teenagers, and old folks assemble in Jackson, Mississippi. In Jackson for a peaceful
demonstration, Gregory Orr and the rest of the group were arrested and taken away to the county
fairgrounds (128, 1). Where they was beaten by officers of the law, Orr stated, I emerged into the
outdoors and the bright sunlight and saw them two lines of about fifteen highway patrolmen on either
side. I was ordered to walk, not run, between them. Again I was beaten with nightsticks, but this time
more thoroughly, as I was the only target (129, 2). Once freed from his captors, Gregory Orr gets in
his car to head back north, but on his way back he was pulled over by flashing lights. Thinking it was
the police; Gregory Orr pulled over and was approached by two white men. One of the white men
said, Get out, you son of a bitch, or I ll blow your head off (133, 3). The two white men takes Gregory
Orr s wallet and tell him to follow them, Scared for his life, Gregory Orr did exactly what the two men
told him to do. After following the two men, Gregory Orr is back in jail in Hayneville. Already
depressed and disoriented by the ten days in jail in Jackson, I was even more frightened in Hayneville,
(136, 1) stated by Gregory Orr. Spending the eight days in jail in Hayneville, Gregory Orr was

Dehumanization In Pepé s Flight
In the short story Flight by John Steinbeck, nature established superiority over men; it became the goal
of the main character to overcome the struggles the environment presented. In Pepé s attempt to
escape his pursuers, the desperate boy endured the unforgiving wrath of nature. A few days into his
travel, Pepé lost his horse to a bullet; it thrashed out from underneath him and flung the boy to the
ground beside the steed. Stunned, Pepé gaped at a hole behind the struggling shoulder ... a stream of
bright crimson blood (Steinbeck 151) in the side of his companion. A second shot whizzed past him,
which forced Pepé to take shelter in a thick undergrowth. Without his primary mode of transportation,
Pepé was prevented from continuing at the same pace he had previously. By taking out the stallion, his
pursuers effectively initiated the dehumanization of the boy; this was the first instance that Pepé had
been exposed to the wrath of nature. Although the loss of efficient travel did ... Show more content on

By this point in the story, Pepé had been reduced from an innocent boy to a crawling animal. While
struggling to find more material to clot his bleeding wound, Pepé encountered a rattlesnake in the
brush. As they noticed each other, it raised its dry head and made a soft beginning whirr (Steinbeck
153), and the crawling boy began to retreat and take another route. The dehumanization of the boy
was important at this point in the story because he has been physically and symbolically put on the the
same level as a small, wild animal. To emphasize Pepé s dehumanization, Steinbeck illustrated the
rattlesnake rais[ing] its dry head (Steinbeck 153) over the grounded body of the boy. The stature of the
snake developed the impression that not only was Pepé dehumanized, but was also weakened by
nature to the point that savage animals appeared more human than

Ion Euripides
In Ion Euripides describes a realistic plot that matches nowadays events as well. He focuses on the
vicissitudes of human life that lead the characters to the brink of ruin, and that raise on top of
happiness at the same time. The life full of ups and downs is depicted in the example of Creusa s life
story. In Ion there are scenes that are composed of big fear, sincere repentance, strong jealousy, and
pure love of Creusa. When young and innocent Creusa has been deceived by Apollo, she has to leave
her newborn child on his fate under the big fear of being perceived as disgraced daughter of the king
Erechtheus. What has happened to her is the biggest secret that she cannot tell anyone. This strong
fear makes Creusa conceal the birth of her first baby, and her liaison with Apollo. Having no will for
that Creusa encumbers herself with that burden but stays faithful wife of Xuthus who she will be
espoused to after that event (Ion, 9 17, 58 62). The second significant Creusa s emotion is her sincere
repentance. Creusa consciously admits her wrong decision of leaving the helpless child, and asks for
forgiveness. Creusa considers her inability to have children as her punishment for leaving that child
alone in the cave. Her deep rooted feeling of guiltiness never ... Show more content on

Drejer et al. (1998) indicate that there is a particular tradition of this kind of research in Scandinavia,
where case research is widely used in such research. Case research is widely used in other
management disciplines, notably organisational behaviour and strategy. Yin (1994) has described in
detail case research design, and Glaser and Strauss (1967) described the grounded theory method.
Case research has its roots in the broader field of social sciences, in particular ethnographic studies
and anthropology. In this paper, we will draw on the experience of these disciplines as well as that of
researchers in operations and technology management. In particular, we will draw on the work of
Eisenhardt (1989), who brought together much of the previous work on building theory from case
research. Our intention is to provide a roadmap for designing, developing and conducting case based
research and also to describe some recent examples of case based research in the field of operations
and technology management. Most of the research conducted in the field of operations management is
based on rationalist[1] research methods, primarily statistical survey analysis and mathematical
modelling. However, since ``. . . the explanation of quantitative findings and the construction of theory
based on those findings will ultimately have to be based on qualitative understanding (Meredith,
1998),

Limbo Dance History
Most people think of Limbo as a happy dance or a fun time, but the real history of it was not so
exciting. The limbo dance started in Trinidad and Tobago as it was brought to Caribbean islands with
african slaves. The men and woman were held in different parts of the ship. When the men and woman
wanted to see each other they would have to go under low and hard to reach areas. It would be very
difficult to get underneath the floorboards so some people made it and some people didn t.
Limbo was mostly done in a slow and sad way at funerals.
After the 1950s and 60s calypso music was starting to get very popular so they made the dance all
happy and colorful. Since it is such a fun dance and it s so happy it has gotten popular all over the
world. The limbo pole was originally a broom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Some popular songs to play while limboing are: Banana boat song , Rum and coca cola , Jamaica
Farwell and more. I don t think limbo dancing is very popular anymore since it s been created so long
ago. It may still be popular in the caribbean islands. I have only seen the dance at parties a few

The Importance Of Language In English Language
I am interested in the overarching influence of language in human culture. My Individually Designed
Major in linguistics reflects this interest and prepares me for the application of linguistics in the field.
Linguistics is the scientific study of human language. According to the Linguistics Society of
America, such a study includes the structure of languages and the variance in language systems among
other topics (Macaulay and Syrett). My core courses emphasize the history of language, its
development, its perception, and my skills in foreign languages.
For example, by studying the history and development of a certain language in The English Language
(ENGL 346), the course prepares me for discussion and investigation of my first language. Since
English is such a popular second language, a thorough understanding of my first language is essential
to success in linguistics and in my future career path. The development of language is the classroom
was a common topic in Bilingual Education (EDUC 345), and the course discussed the application of
linguistic theories in the field of education.
For the development of my foreign language skills, I focus on two languages during my years at
Denison, so I have a diverse but comprehensive knowledge of language. German and Arabic are the
primary choices for my in depth study of language, and these two languages incorporate a knowledge
of distinct language families, i.e. Germanic and Seminitic. To support my knowledge in at least one of

The History Of Singapore Is Rich With Surprising Twists,...
The history of Singapore is rich with surprising twists, bendy turns and wondrous triumphs. A very
long, long time ago during the 14th century, a small but strategically located island that had once been
named island at the end of a peninsula then changed to Temasek ( Sea Town ) then to Singapura and
eventually to what it is now known as Singapore. It got the name Singapura from a prince from
Palembang who was on a hunting trip when he caught sight of an animal he had never seen before.
Taking this as a good sign he founded the city where the animal had been spotted giving it the name
The Lion City or Singapura or so the legend says. The city was ruled by 5 kings and was located at the

The treaty established Singapore as a trading station and the city quickly grew from there as an
entrepot trade hub, which attracted immigrants from all over (China, India, the Malay Archipelago...).
Raffles also implemented the Raffles Town Plan/ Jackson Plan three years later in 1822, to address the
issue of growing disorderliness in the colony within the segregated 4 ethnic residential areas. The 4
areas were the European Town made up of European traders, Eurasians, and rich Asians; the ethnic
Chinese were in Chinatown; the Ethnic Indians in Chulia Kampong area, and in Kampong Glam there
was Muslims, ethnic Malays and Arabs. Things continued to prosper and do well in Singapore
especially after 1869 when the Suez Canal opened which allowed for steamships to become the major
form of ocean transport. With Singapore s excellent harbor, it became a flourishing commercial center
and the leading seaport of Southeast Asia. It handled the vast export in tin and rubber from British

Singapore during WWII when they were attacked by Japanese on 8th December 1941. They lasted till
the 15th of February 1942 where they surrendered to the Japanese and remained under them until the

Roman Artists And His Influence On The Public s Opinion...
From 255 BC to 14 AD, Roman artists designed plays, poetry and sculpture with the intention to alter
the public s opinion on prominent figures and political issues of their time. Poetry and sculpture
altered Augustus s image positively. However, the reputations of political figures such as Caesar,
Pompey, and Mamurra were hammered through poetry. Plautus also brings to light the aggressive
nature and negative qualities of powerful figures.
Statues were not the only way that Augustus s image was promoted; Poetry was a prominent form of
literary work at the time and served to manipulate people s perspective on political figures. After
Augustus s great feat against Mark Antony strove restore peace to Rome. He made himself the

The line, Caesar Augustus, descended from God, who again shall a golden Age in Latium found is a
clear example of how the poem serves as propaganda. By saying that Augustus is descended from God
Vergil implies that Augustus is superior to other rulers because he has the gods on his side. Augustus s
descent from gods also implies that he had more ability to allow Rome to prosper, since he had the
gods on his side. Augustus s hope for the future is revealed when Vergil writes, Who again shall a
golden age in Latium found . This line implies that with Augustus as ruler Rome will prosper, and
thrive, culture will flourish, and a new golden age will emerge ((H) Historical Context for The Aeneid
by Virgil, May 12, 2015).
Poetry was also used to negatively impact the view of political figures; Catullus, another Roman poet
who primarily focused on criticizing the triumvirate intentions and the interests of those associated
with them. The triumvirate was composed of Pompey, Caesar, and Crassus; the three men worked in a
secret alliance to help one another further their careers, and collectively took control part of the
Roman government. When Julius Caesar was coming to power Catullus, a prominent poet in Rome.
Catullus s poetry has a rebellious, expressive tone to it. He was a well read poet with wit and passion
((J) Hooper, F. (1980). In his poetry Catullus expressed his opinions about political figures such as

  • 2. Crooks In An Expensive School The quote, The more expensive a school is, the more crooks it has , caught my attention because not many would expect that an expensive school would have crooks in it. Most people wouldn t expect that there are more crooks in an expensive school since in a society only upper class and some middle class people would be able to afford to go to an expensive school. People would think the types of people that go to an expensive school must be respectable and have a good nature, since they are trying to become educated and prepared for the world. Instead, according to Holden there are more crooks in an expensive school than other types of schools. In a way this makes sense because the children that go to expensive schools must be from a family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Effects of Political Parties on a Democracy Essay... The Effects of Political Parties on a Democracy There are indeed several aspects in the composition of political parties that threaten democracy in the UK, whilst other aspects may promote democracy. Careful analysis must be done in order to establish to what extent either is true. On the one hand, it may be argued that parties in fact promote democracy for a variety of reasons. Firstly, they assist the electorate by offering them a coherent choice, allowing people to vote democratically. Rather than the electorate having to choose between several members of each party, and having to place votes for central government subsequent to placing local constituency votes, voting is made simple and ... The Conservative party is also aiming to recruit more women and ethnic minority candidates in time for the upcoming general election in May 2005. It has also given higher platforms to those women already elected: Several years ago, Theresa May was appointed as party chairman. Not only by modernising themselves to represent current populations in Britain, parties also modernise themselves by generating new ideas for changing times. The labour party is the most famous for adapting its policies and ideology. Labour changed its name to New Labour under the leadership of Tony Blair in 1997, to reflect these radical changes. At this time Labour chose to adapt its policies, and lose a lot of its socialist values. Under Old Labour state ownership was held under high regard. But after Thatcher s privatisation of state businesses, Labour acknowledged that it would be dangerous to radically reform businesses and bring them back under state ownership, thus they modernised their policies adapting them to the New Britain, by sticking to privatisation which had been warmly received. This promotes democracy, as policies are adapted to suit the electorate, rather than parties imposing unwanted, outdated ideologies upon its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anthropologists undergo the practice of participation observation on the internet , allowing them to experience a virtual community; this shapes their understanding and knowledge of this concept. Weary is now hopeless and really not motivated or inspired by life like he was when he was in a relationship with Mattie. However, for the first time since Mattie s last encounter, things might be looking healthy and positive for Weary s love life. Weary and Lucinda, a friend of Evelyn, meet at a midnight show and a great relationship is formed from the start. In Driving the King, Howard uses foreshadowing in first conversation Weary and Lucinda ever have: Happy to meet you, Weary. She hit a sweet note when she said as much, like she was starting off a song (206). From this conversation, the reader can interpret that Weary has finally moved on from the hurt Mattie caused him because he is having such passionate thoughts already. This is the first time, since he has been with Mattie, that he is intrigued by a woman s presence and not simply lusting after her flesh. In Driving the King, Howard provides another example of foreshadowing that suggests to the reader that Weary finally has closure with Mattie: Here s to being gone from everywhere but right here. I ll take being here, right now, over anyplace in the world (207). One might predict from Weary s toast that he has strong feelings for Lucinda, and he may finally be able to move ... This was a bomb that fell from high above the earth, penetrated the ground, exploded, and caused an earthquake. It was used towards the end of the war, on massively reinforced installations, underground caverns, buried tunnels, and bridges. Some of Wallis bombs based on the Earthquake Bomb were used to disable the German V2 factory, bury V3 guns, sink Tirpitz, the battleship, and other previously undamageable targets. Another British bomb designed by Barnes Wallis was the Bouncing Bomb. The concept was a bomb that bounced across water to avoid torpedo nets. It was designed to allow speed and time of detonation to be pre determined. In May of 1943, a Bouncing Bomb was used to explode German dams underwater, having a similar effect to Wallis other design, the earthquake bomb. However, metaphors are sometimes hidden in the poem such that they require the reader to figure out their existence in the poem. This will be easy when the poet employs the physical environment that is well understood by the reader. In addition, metaphors will strengthen the ideas that the poet wants to pass across. Symptoms And Treatment Of Celiac Disease Countless plagues, disorders, and diseases have cut many human lives short over the 160 thousand years since Homo sapiens evolved from their ancestors. Since then, human s increasing knowledge of medical science has allowed for them to thrive for much longer than their primitive predecessors. These conditions have evolved in a costimulatory way with all species throughout life s evolution, and although some of these situations are beneficial (symbiotic) many diseases benefit only one organism at the expense of another (exploitative). Much like an exploitative situation an organism can cause a disadvantageous situation for itself, such is the case in hypochondriasis which is when a person believes that they have an illness and starts to develop symptoms because of this belief. Celiac disease is an intestinal disorder caused by an autoimmune response to an individual s own tissue, this is triggered by the ingestion of anything which contains gluten or gluten related products. On the other hand, Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) mimics some of the symptoms found in Celiac disease and it is generally a self diagnosed disease. From this, it is clearly seen that NCGS is a primary example of hypochondriasis.
