Combining the multitude of factors that contribute to family formation and structure parallels to
mixing ingredients to make a soup that does not always come out with the same taste, as even with
the same contributing factors such as race, gender, and social, economic, and political pressure, one
family can greatly differ from another. The ideology of the nuclear familyshape clashed with my
family s more extended and traditional family structure, and upon arrival to the United States from
Korea, initially resulted in opaque gendered behavior and thinking along with muddled male and
female constructs. As the family s stay continued, the idea and shape of the nuclear family began to
whittle away at my grandparents and father s initial ideals, albeit at a different pace. As a result of
my grandparents directing joining the workforce and contributing, the nuclear family ideals had
little influence; on the other hand, my father, after growing up through schooling and having more
in depth experience with American culture, was more affected, and the transition into the ideology
of the nuclear family was nearly complete after having children. As my father came to be the main
breadwinner of the family, the nuclear family shape and ideology was fortified and increasingly
embraced, as my dad was pressured to provide, which promoted male dominance within the

Its 2017 and dress codes are outrageous and they make it hard on parents to shop for their
daughters when school comes around. As parents try to make it okay and meet the requirement
for the school s dress code, the school still finds ways to punish and embarrass girls for their
clothing. Not only is it making them miss educational and instructional time but it hurts their

A contradictory standard is a set of two rules which like the definition states the dress code has a
set of two rules; one that applies to girls and one that applies to boys. This allows boys to go to
school in tank tops and shorts but if a girl would do that it would be breaking the dress code. In

is not. School dress codes have unknowingly set up double standards, creating a separation in the

The Lady s Not for Burning by Christopher Fry is a romantic comedy that takes place in the 15th
century in which Thomas Mendip and Jennet Jourdemayne are both accused, in some fashion, of
crimes involving murder. Thomas Mendip, an educated, stubborn ex soldier, claims that he has
killed two men and wishes to be hanged. However, his demands are refused, causing him to
become angry towards those that will not take him seriously. He blames the societal values for
this disregard and begins to question these values causing tension among the mayor, the mayor s
family, and the mayor s workers as they are unsure of how to react to this new way of thinking.

Roald Dahl was a British author, who wrote short stories, poems and screenplays. His books
have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide (www.roalddahl.com). His most famous book
was the first Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book which was published in 1964. This book
got a lot of negative feedback not based on the storyline, but based on certain characters in the
book. This book focuses on golden tickets and there are only five, one of them being found by a
