Persuasive Speech On Weight Loss Pills
What are the best weight loss pills? If you are overweight or obese you have definitely asked this
question many times. Whatever our excess weight can be, we always want to be slim. And the best
weight loss pills have been always sought after.
Let s think a little on this philosophic question and try to answer it based on what we know about this
weight loss aid we can t refuse of using...
We all know the easiest and safest way to live a slim and healthy life is to: consume healthy foods in a
balanced diet regime, exercise and stay physically active, and get a sufficient amount of rest each day.
Well, weight loss pills may offer a short cut, it might not always be the best route to take. If we make a
decision to take weight loss pills, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s considered the best natural appetite suppressant that has not been researched thoroughly but
showed good efficacy.
Another type of weight loss pills is gaining more popularity due to more safe and healthy effect
comparing with others fat blockers. Among prescription drugs it is Xenical, blocking fat by affecting
lipase enzymes responsible for fat absorption. It helped many people lose weight along with good
dieting regime, but it s side effects include abdomen discomfort, diarrhea, and the inability to absorb a
lot of important fat soluble vitamins and other nutrients.
Alli is a lighter version of Xenical with the same side effects and many medical professionals refuse to
ally themselves with Alli as best weight loss pill because of moderate efficacy combined with many
side effects.
Among natural fat blockers chitosan is widespread ingredient. There are many pills based on chitosan
claiming fat blocking effect, but scientific researches proved weak fat blocking capacities of chitosan.
As fat blocker, acting somewhat like Xenical but binding fats directly in the stomach, Proactol now is
a leading weight loss pill. It acts safely and helps lose weight steadily and prevent weight gain if we

Should Heart Of Darkness Be Taught In Schools
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a highly debated book over whether or not it should be read in
schools. Many people see Heart of Darkness as a racist book that is blatantly offensive to African
Americans, but others view Heart of Darkness as an important book that explores many complex
ideas, such as the internal conflict between a man s sanity and insanity, and Conrad s opposition to
Imperialism, which was very prevalent during the time the book was written. While the opponents of
Heart of Darkness say that this book should not be read in schools, I believe the book can be utilized
in an academic environment. The opposers to this book do make a reasonable and correct point that
this book uses very strong language and seems to be racist, Conrad did not intend to convey racist
perspectives, rather, taking on that role to further his point towards Imperialism. Although it uses
strong language in the book, that was used to show how Europeans viewed Africans during the time
period. This should be read in an academic environment because it is a very well written text and can
be used to show the effect of Imperialism during the 19th and 20th century. ... Show more content on

Conrad wasn t conveying how he felt, but showing how Europeans during the time period felt.
Marlow is an exaggerated version of the Europeans during the time period. He does this to show the
flaws in how proponents of Imperialism felt. The book s original intention was to show the negative
effects of Imperialism and how they affected people. The exaggerated racism of Marlow is to show
how close minded Imperialists are and how, they themselves are racist. In this perspective, Conrad is
not racist, but fighting for the rights of the

How Does The Implementation Of Graphic Organisers Impact...
Title
Everyone loves a good story! : Using graphic organisers to scaffold a narrative.
Abstract
Research Question
How does the implementation of graphic organisers impact student learning with regard to a text type
in literacy?
Rationale
Literature Review
Introduction
Graphic organisers used in writing a narrative are a visual cue for ordering information. To full
understand the purpose of graphic organisers in classrooms it is useful to break the term down and
look at the defintions of both graphic and organiser . The term graphic can be described as an
adjective and means clear (2014). While the term organiser can be defined as a person or a thing used
for organising. (2014, Cambridge Dictionary Online)
The text type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teaching Practices
Educators use the term graphic organisers which refers to a range of devices such as concept maps,
mind webs, semantic maps, knowledge maps and tables. (O Donnell, 2012, p. 335) Effective writing
programs use both modelled, guided and independent teaching strategies to help students comprehend
and become successful in their creative writing (NSW Department of Education and Training
Curriculum Support Directorate).
Graphic organisers can be implemented into this cycle which can be best described as I do , We do and
You do (Christian, 2014). For the first stage of I do a graphic organiser can be selected by the teacher
and displayed to the class, modelling ways of note taking and using the sections of the organiser to list
ideas for further development in the writing task. Modelled writing means both modelling to students
how to write and selecting models such as a graphic organiser to demonstrate how writing works
(NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support Directorate). The teaching strategy
of we do would involve the class making decisions with the guidance of the teacher about what
graphic organiser to use and what points they think should be included in the organiser before jointly
constructing a narrative. Finally, students can independently select and complete their own individual
graphic organisers, known as I do , before then going on to write their own stories. Students

Ethnic Demonstrations Of Indonesi The Toraja
There are numerous ethnic gatherings in Indonesia .One of them is the Toraja in South Sulawesi .The
word Toraja originates from the bugis dialect to raja significance meaning individuals of the uplands
(Klass et al,1999:45).This name occurred when the Dutch provincial government named them .In
toraja there is still religion called aluk todolo this runs nearby muslim and Christianity .In this article I
will inspect the torajan rituals and customs around myth, death and ancestor worship.
Toraja is roughly 3,180 square kilometers, initially intensely forested, has been changed by
development. The couple of remaining woods spread slants unacceptable for development. The main
method for subsistence is farming. Rice, cassava, and maize are the staples; espresso and cloves are
the vital money crops. (Bigalke,1981;13)Creature cultivation is practiced on a vast scale, however just
the rearing of pigs is of financial significance. The bison, a grown up toy, is once in a while utilised
for function as a part of the fields. The creature has principally a ritualised function, for the prevalent
kind of death feast requires many buffalo
The autochthonous religion of the Toraja is called Aluk To Dolo to dolo actually implies that is,
conviction of the old, or customs of the precursors. (Chambert et al 2002:117)In this religion,
precursor clique, myth, and custom are entwined. Amid therituals, the to minaa, a minister
knowledgeable in tribal legend and history, recounts the long

The Importance Of The Japanese Education System
Japan may be known for its beautiful cherry blossoms when they are in bloom, but they are also
known for its unique education system. The rigorous workload these students go through have
changed the way their overall performance scores have looked. The way that the Japanese education
system works has some ways that align with how the brain learns. The uniqueness of Japan s
education begins with the way their schooling is set up. The typical school year goes from April to
March of the following year, with a summer break from mid July to the end of August. Unlike
American schools, Japanese schools have three trimesters to break up the school year. Keeping with
the pattern of three, the lower education of Japan is split into a six three three system: six years of
elementary school (Shogakko), three years of middle school (Chugakko), and three years of high
school (Kotogakko). There are different learning styles that are available once a student reaches high
school. The courses that students can take are sorted into the categories of general, specialized, and
integrated. General courses are suitable for all students. Specialized courses have specific subject
matter suited for students who have chosen their future vocation, and include courses in agriculture,
industry, commerce. . . music, art, and English (globalroadwarrior 3). The integrated courses are a mix
of both general and specialized. The majority of Japanese students are taught by one teacher for all the
subjects

When Acetic Acid Meets The Criteria Of The Commercial Law
Introduction
In this experiment, you measure the acid concentration and determine if the acetic acid meets the
criteria of the commercial law. The titration of vinegar has a solution composed of acetic acid
(HC2H3O2), water and other substances. When adding sodium hydroxide (basic solution) to acetic
acid (acid) it causes a neutralization reaction. The phenolphthalein is colorless in acid, and it will
change color when adding the sodium hydroxide. In this experiment, there were four trials to reach the
amount of sodium hydroxide needed to reach the end point. When you reach the end point of the
experiment, the solution should be pink and if the solution is purple then it is over titrated.
Discussion
First, you make sure all of the liquid (water) is emptied out of the buret. Next, you fill the buret with
sodium hydroxide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When pouring the NaOH in a flask, a drop of NaOH could be the difference of reaching the accurate
measurement to titrate the vinegar sample or you can over titrate the vinegar sample.
Questions
4. If the titrated standard NaOH, in the flask against vinegar, in the buret, instead of the way you
actually performed the titration, how would you have recognized the end point with phenolphthalein
indicator? Would carrying out the titration in this manner change your calculated results or
conclusions?
If the titration uses a phenolphthalein as an indicator, then its end point would always be recognized
when the solution is pink.
5. Why is it a good idea to rinse the buret with the NaOH solution, instead of with water, before filling
it at start of the titration?
If you rinse the buret with water, there is still plenty of proton remaining and there shouldn t be any
water left in the buret. If so, NaOH solution would be less as stronger than presumed. You wouldn t
get the accurate result because the solution would be diluted. It would hard to determine the correct
concentration of the

Reflection Of Consumer Chemistry
INTRODUCTION: Nowadays, people here in this world are using science in their everyday lives.
When you fry a fish, there s a science. When you wash your clothes, there s a science behind it.
Everything is science. There are different branches of science. Including Biology, Botany, Zoology,
and many more. But one of the most used in everyday life in the branches of science is the
CHEMISTRY. It is a branch of physical science that deals with composition, structure, properties and
changes of matter. Chemistry is the one who is responsible for photosynthesis (plants making food for
their own). But Consumer chemistry is the one that deals with humans in our everyday lives.
Consumer Chemistry is the branch of Chemistry that makes consumable products. Consumer

first, while our teacher was discussing this, I thought that this lesson is pretty easy because I
understand all her lessons and I had no problem absorbing the lessons. Butwhen the day after comes, I
was already confused on how to do the Redox. I tried to approach my classmates who are great in
Consumer Chemistry. But I always forget it after that and got confused again. And I think, that s the
reason I got a very low score on our summative test. After that test, I promised to myself that I will
strive hard for me to get a high score on our periodical test. That s why I made this learning module, to

The Fascination Of Vampires In Pop Culture
Society s fascination with fictional monsters is a topic most love to talk about. You know what really
grinds people s gears. The basis of the monster and its true portrayal and the excitement of being
scared of the monsters. Vampires on the other hand have changed the portrayal, even the argument of
what is scary and what is not. Vampires used to be scary and unattractive, but now in modern times
vampires are highly sexual, desirable, and even admirable. The discussion here though, is Do
vampires influence the way society interrelates body image, relationships, and morality? Vampire s

behaviors, because it is society s dying aspiration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eating disorders and fitness obsession are very popular in pop culture and vampires seem to only add
fuel to the fire to these nasty behaviors. The vampires create relatable habits portrayals. Most male
vampires are strong and tough, they can fight, kill, and protect the girl. This view makes men seem
like that s what it takes to be a man. You have to be strong and competent in everything you do
especially when it comes to your masculinity. Women are only reinforced by female vampires,
because the female vampire is effortlessly beautiful and unrealistically desirable. The female vampire
s outer beauty means more than what she is and who she is. Both male and female vampires do not
eat. They survive off blood, but the fact society idolizes these beautiful vampires can also reinforce the
creation of actual eating disorders and body complexes. Also considering body image, dominance
between genders and relationships, and the main character in Vampire Diaries is Elena gilbert, she is
beautiful, young 17 year old who seems to be the center of attention but her tragic life seems to be the
reason for all the attention. She encounters two very strange, but yet very handsome older men. Who
end up being vampires, the seduction is through the roof and has every teenager obsessed. These
relatable human like experiences that these vampires convey draws society in. Two very attractive,
wise, older, vampires who are just trying to live normal lives, but seem to get caught up in a romantic
love triangle between Damon, Stefan Salvatore and Elena. Elena tries to stay independent, but
somehow always needs the help of these two very strong and powerful vampires. When people watch
these particular television shows, they tend to become obsessive and also wish their lives to be
identical to the characters that they love. If a young teenage girl wants what Edward, Stefan,

The September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center

Tobin, brought forward the proposal for a giant skyscraper complex in order to accommodate for
much needed office space in Lower Manhattan. The plan was met with considerable opposition at
first, but Tobin s proposal eventually succeeded, and Japanese American Minoru Yamasaki was
commissioned to design the building. Yamasaki projected a novel design for a development that
included two 110 storey twin towers . Upon completion in 1971, they were the tallest towers in the
world, a record the infrastructure held for two years. The magnificent World Trade Centre complex

At 8.14am, as the aircraft was passing over central Massachusetts, the stewardesses began serving

stewardesses tried to intervene, but the men stabbed them with small pocket knives that they had
successfully smuggled past airport security. The following screams and sight of blood caused panic
among the passengers. A passenger tried to interpose one of the hijackers, but he was also stabbed.
The remaining passengers watched on helplessly as the hijackers entered the cockpit. The aircraft was

Green Crabs

Himalayan Blackberries. Invasive species pose a threat on the economy and can harm the ecosystem
they invade. Invasive animals compete with native animals for resources and can decrease the

the government.
Sea Walnuts, also called comb jellies, are native to the Western Atlantic ocean but now live all over

In the ocean, large cargo ships fill tanks with water to keep its balance. As they load up with more
cargo, the water is emptied out and the animals that were in the water are now in a new location,
potentially harming their new environment. On land, noxious weeds can be spread by attaching to
people s clothing, cars, and basically anything. By brushing off your clothes before you go to a new
place, the chance of an invasive species potentially coming with you goes down tremendously. In
lakes, if people thoroughly clean boats before bringing it to a new lake, there won t be a chance that
algae and other invasive plants could be spread into lakes. If everyone was cautious about bringing
new plants and animals to new locations, the number of invasive species would be tremendously be
brought down.
Invasive species can negatively affect the environment. They can take out entire species by eating
their food sources or by preying on them. They also threaten fishing, hunting and plant industries in

they are dangerous. There are many different ways for invasive species to spread but most are caused

Essay On Aspartame
In this paper the author wants to talk about this phony sugar that is slowly poisoning the masses. Silent
killer who, disguise it s self as an alternative sugar, this so called sugar known as aspartame. But to
bring to light two solutions that could end this ferocious ploy by the greedy government and enterprise
benefiting from this fake sugar. The two solutions that were to be proposed are unrefined cane sugar
and educations.
Aspartame is extremely poisonous, and here is why. One of the toxic ingredients of Aspartame is
wood alcohol. When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in the
Aspartame is converted to formaldehyde, and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic
acidosis. Formaldehyde is grouped in the same class of poisons as Cyanide and Arsenic which are
very deadly toxins. The only difference is... Formaldehyde kills quietly, and it takes a little longer.
And, in the process of killing people, it causes all kinds of neurological problems. (Harder, 2016)

Developed and Developing Countries
Have you ever heard of developed countries and developing countries, or first world and third world
countries? Just a basic overview before I go into detail, developed countries have a matured financial
system, this includes the US and Canada, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South
Korea. Developing countries are emerging markets across Asia, Latin America and Africa. And
undeveloped countries are mainly African nations which remain vastly poor, such as Mali and
Somalia. Before I go on about the BRICS countries of the future, I will start with today s BRICS
nations why they are in BRICS. First, the B, Brazil. Brazil has sustained a high GDP growth rate as its
Gross Domestic Product has passed the United Kingdom, but this is a small part of the equation.
Brazil contains many minor oilfields, but this is still not the big picture. Although services makes up
most of Brazil s economy, agricultural products like coffee, bananas and sugarcane have driven Brazil
s growth. Plus, Brazil doesn t have an overpopulation problem, so they can export coffee, bananas and
sugarcane, in fact Brazil is the number one producer of coffee in the world. The main drawbacks are
the extensive crime combined with a corrupt political system.
Next, the R, Russia. Russia is easily the odd one out of the BRICS countries. It doesn t currently
sustain growth at any level even close to the other BRICS nations. But Russia contains huge coal
mines and even more crude oil and natural gas

Coffin Ed And Grave Digger Jones By Sherlock Holmes
The detective fiction genre is a wonderful conglomerate of intricate stories laid out in a well thought
out manner. The methods of detection used by many of the detectives that we have read about in this
class tend to work perfectly in the cases of the stories themselves. But if we were to take these
detectives out of their covered stories and put them into the real world, there would be a myriad of
different real world problems that they likely couldn t solve. In this writing I will analyze a few
different problems in the real world that our detectives would issues solving with their methods

Another disaster Bag of Toys could suffer from is the corruption of the system. In this way the

system which is safer and could be used when the system is crushed or down or corrupt. In this way
they would be able to back up their customer data and to recover their system.

customer data which is time consuming and it will affect the business overall. They will lose the

South Kore Asian Currency Crisis
Labeled as one of the most devastating economic events in the region, the Asian currency crisis of
1997, that began as a localized currency crisis in Thailand that summer and rolled east, led to Korea
suffering nearly a 7% decline in GDP (real GDP), along with a 6% increase in unemployment levels in
1998. (Jangryoul Kim, 2012) Despite the fact the crises engulfed the entire Asian region, this paper
analyses its impact on Korea. Despite Korea being one of the world s poorest countries in the 1950s
with a per capita income of under $100 (Sharma, 2003), following separation from the North, South
Korea (referred to as Korea throughout this paper) enjoyed lasting economic expansion from the 60s
all the way up to 1997.
As the world s eleventh largest country in 1996, people expected Korea to surpass Japan in the coming
millennium and Korea was invited to join the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and
Development). The facts that by then Korea was the world s top manufacturer of computer RAM
chips, the world s second largest ship builder, the third largest maker of semi conductors, and the
fourth largest electronics producer meant that by the time the currency crisis hit the surrounding
region following a devaluation of Thai baht in July 1997, investors (defined in this paper as the
general public, plus speculators) believed that the crisis wouldn t hit Korea. These investors were

Under Armour Target Market
Target Market Strategy
As competition grows and the market changes it is important to change with it. Over the years the
demographic segmentation for Under Armour has evolved from focusing on male collegiate athletes
between the ages of 17 and 23 to include older men, women, and children. Under Armour uses high
quality products and the price that comes with that is geared towards consumers who are financially
stable. They cover a wide area the family life cycle, but their primary focus is younger consumers
whether they are married or have children. They focus on individuals with active, on the go lifestyles
who emphasize on healthy living. These tend to be young adults who are also tech savvy and connect
themselves to internet connected devices. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under Armour s global presence, price metrics, demographics and targeting of the fitness lifestyle put
them in the perfect position to capitalize on this momentum. The UA HOVR is the unique product that
will take UA into this new niche market. These shoes are embedded with high fidelity sensors that are
digitally connected to the MapMyRun app. Through the app you can monitor data such as: stride
length, cadence, pace, distance, and shoe life. This forward thinking allows Under Armour to not only
stand out in the footwear market but also cuts into the market of FitBit and other connective devices
used in conjunction with one s workout. The added revenue from intersecting with other markets
removes some of the stress of competing in a highly saturated market. As mentioned earlier, a
company and its products need to evolve with the market and technology surrounding them. That
evolution isn t just the product but its integration with the current marketing model to show the
sponsored athlete winning in their UA HOVR. This product and products similar are necessary for
Under Armour if they want to remain successful and hold on to their share of the market and continue

4.1 Image Classification
After the image has been processed using the 3 frameworks proposed the image needs to be classified
which is done using the image classification technique of image mining. Classification can be carried
out by applying the method of supervised classification and unsupervised classification but here we
will mainly focus upon supervised classification.

4.5 Face detection and Recognition
The face plays an important role in today s world in the identification of the person. Face recognition
is the process concerned with the identification of one or more person in images or videos by
analyzing the patterns and comparing them with one another. Algorithms that are used for face
recognition basically extract facial features and compares them to a face database to find the best and
suitable match. Application of face detection and recognition includes biometrics, security and
surveillance systems.
V. RESULT AND ANLYSIS
We have taken six images which includes two Face based image, two Content based image, and one
feature based image and the last image which is a combined image which includes all three types i.e.
Face, content and feature. The search results obtained when the above mentioned six images were
searched for on a search engine is shown in Table I. The following table shows the time taken in the
searching process of the images:

Z For Zachariah
The post apocalyptic sci fi novel, Z for Zachariah , by Robert C. O Brien, was the source material for
the fourth feature length from director Craig Zobel who gained some notoriety with his previous film
Compliance . If Mr. Zobel was far from impressing me with the latter, he doesn t do much better in
this one. Instead of the teenage protagonist of the book, Zobel and his screenwriter, Nissar Modi, opt
for an adult version of the character, played by the unrecognizable Margot Robbie who has generated
some buzz with her small but memorable part in The Wolf of Wall Street . In this brittle thriller, she s

A certain day, however, she bumps into a skittish man, John (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who rushes into
contaminated waters. She gently takes care of him when he falls sick, praying fervently to God to save

aggressive when he gets drunk. Ann, in need of physical contact and considering the repopulation of
the Earth, urges him into sex, but he disappoints her in that particular aspect. Ultimately, he falls in
love with her, but what could have been a relaxing life in duo, is turned upside down when another
stranger, Caleb (Chris Pine), arrives to compete for the last existing woman, bringing tiny portions of
tension into their little paradise. Thrills are scarce, and every attempt to make them work out falls into
dullness and conventional. This is aggravated by the fact that the film, beyond predictable, lingers on
lukewarm situations for an eternity, where we never feel real empathy for the characters or perceive
any sustainable passion sprouting from the love

Reality versus Illusion in Who s Afraid of Virginia...
Reality versus Illusion in Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? In his play, The American Dream, Edward
Albee unveils a tortured family that is symbolic of the reality beneath the illusion of the American
dream. In Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Albee takes a more traditional approach than the theater of
the absurd, and his language is more natural, but he returns to this theme with a vengeance. For in all
of drama there are few plays about domestic relationships that are as caustic, violent and as poisoned
with the milk of human bitterness, cynicism and pessimism as is Woolf. The story regards George and
Martha, a married couple (he a history professor and she the University President s daughter). Verbally

The meaning of the title represents the fear that is created in people by other people and the somewhat
innate inability for us to be able to gain a closer understanding of one another from the one source
largely available to us for that, language. It also refers to the fear of being replaced as we evolve in life
and those who come behind us have a certain degree of evolution that may surpass our own, or in the
worst cases, completely erode everything we have spent our lives doing. George and Nick represent
this in the play because George is the old school Jeffersonian who is terrified that Nick will replace his

The Reasons In Reginald Rose s Twelve Angry Men
Imagine this, you re being taken to jail for a crime you supposedly did, although you actually had
nothing to do with it. The next day you have a trial, but The jurors that are there care less of who you
are. The trial goes up to three days, finally the jurors discuss the case and come up to a decision,
however it isn t what you had expected. You re accused guilty for a crime you didn t commit and now
you have to deal with the consequences, what perhaps could have gone wrong in this case? Could it
have been that someone set you up, then again could it have been that the jurors in the trial just rushed
since they didn t actually care from the start? Twelve Angry Men , a play about a trial in which a
teenager is being accused guilty in the murder of his own father while his case is being reviewed by
the jurors. Throughout the play Reginald Rose, the author, shows us that not every trial that is held is
actually always a fair trial. This play that was written is a good example of a trial being treated unfair
by the jurors, although at the end the case was fairly brought to a decision. In this play most of the
men are being unfair and vote guilty towards the kid, but one stands up for him and fights the case, the
author does a great job in showing that cases are not always fair by describing each juror. Throughout
the play there are good details that show the unfairness of most of the jurors and how they rushed most
of the time and just tried to get over it. As

The Popularization Of The Radical Right Emerges From The
The popularization of the radical right emerges from the domination of social, economic and political
institutions that produces knowledge and information throughout the United Kingdom. This enables
the elite class to obtain the power to systematically erase various narratives that challenge the
suppression and structural control by the state. The rise of thatcherism originated from the political
and economic control propelled by the elite class who imposed a dominant ideology that sustained the
movement of the radical right, in the time of severe political instability from World War II. The
conservative political elites who wanted to sustain the production of capitalism utilized the economic

Thatcher had the ability to alter power relations throughout the country and allow for the development
of authoritarian populism to be prominent and accepted as the dominant political ideology. Hall
contextualizes the development and expansion of the radical right and the ways in which to understand
these political motives. Hall notes how the radical right has to be understood in direct relation to
alternative political formations attempting to occupy and command the same space. It is engaged in a
struggle for hegemony, within the dominant bloc, against both social democracy and the moderate
wing of it s own party (Hall, 16). Thus, the radical right is accumulating massive power during this
critical time in the history of the United Kingdom where social democracy and conservatism are
clashing while there is a crisis of capital around the world.
Within this context, the power of the right gained momentum from the socialization of the dominant
narrative through the use of education, media forces and the power of the economy controlling
politics. By normalizing functions of the economic state and the imbalance of political hierarchies,
this enables hegemony to justify the status quo and makes the ruling class invisible as they are
manipulating power structures to benefit themselves as well as to maintain their power and privilege.
Nonetheless, hegemony can be seen as imperial

Symbolism In The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Nightmare Before Christmas starts off in a town that the movie revolves around the whole movie,
which is Halloweentown. In this town, they have a Pumpkin King, who is the ruler of the town, and
his name is Jack Skellington. Jack begins to feel bored of the same old holiday they have every year,
Halloween, and he soon stumbles upon trees that are decorated with symbols for each holiday. Jack is
intrigued by the door that has a bright green christmas tree on it decorated with little painted on
ornaments. He opens the door and falls into the tree and gets transported into Christmasland. He
explores the small land that he was pulled into, and then he returns home to tell his town about the
place that he has just discovered. He tells them that they are going to make their own Christmas. The
town teamed up and worked on making terrifying toys to bring joy to the children and to give Santa a

delivering presents to the kids of the world. Sally, who has always secretly admired Jack, told him she
had a bad vision that stealing Christmas was a terrible idea, but Jack didn t listen. Jack finally got on
his sleigh with his skeletal reindeer and rode off into the night delivering presents. Every house he
went to called the police because the toys were trying to kill them and eventually the military was

Coal burning is the human activity that is most greatly contributing to increased mercury levels.
34. See attached
35. Mercury wet deposition levels are highest in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas. This is most
probably due to these states having many coal burning power plants.
36. Largemouth bass and spotted bass exceed this limit.
37. Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, rock bass, spotted bass, pumpkinseed, rainbow cutthroat trout,
and brown trout exceed this limit. This mercury level is most probably lower than the level for
humans because humans are larger than many of the piscivorous mammals and are able to resist more
mercury. In addition, these mammals consume fish in much higher quantities.
38. Yes, on average the largemouth bass has a mercury level of about 0.45 ug/g, which is higher than
the recommended amount for humans.
39. The mercury concentrations were highest in sediment because while rain can distribute the
mercury and dilute it to some degree, the mercury that falls to the ground in sediment is deposited in
high concentrations, with little dilution.

America has undergone incredible hardships as a nation. No issue has had more impact on the
development of the American definition of freedom than the issue of slavery. Did the Constitution
specify which men were created equal? Surprisingly enough the phrase quot;all men are created equal
with certain inalienable rights quot; did not mean what it does today. The nation was divided on the
issue of slavery and the rights of the black man in its early stages as a growing republic. Abraham
Lincoln was a brave pioneer who dared to rub his hand against the grain of slavery bringing the
original ideals of America s founders to a new light. He was a man who felt he was witnessing a slow

Mentoring In The Mentorship Summary
Text Purpose Dr. Lois Zachary provides a well organized, hands on approach to research based
mentoring in The Mentor s Guide: Facilitating Effective Learning Relationships (2012). This book

current mentors. Zachary (2012) provides solid examples, concrete exercises, and a roadmap for
building an effective mentoring relationship. Mentors in the business world, nonprofit organizations,

Zachary presents the mentorship as a learning partnership between mentor and mentee. This reinforces
my understanding of the nature of adult learning and the notion that the mentor is less an authority
figure and more of a facilitator. In my work as a mentor for special education directors, I will utilize
Zachary s four stage approach for encouraging learning and promoting change. This reading has
helped me to see mentorship as a process with distinctive components, as defined by Zachary (2012).
During the preparation phase, I will focus on ensuring I fully understand the reasoning behind the
mentoring relationship (Zachary 2012). I will accomplish this through personal reflection and a
collaborative discussion with the mentee. I will remember that this phase sets the tone for the
relationship. The next step, negotiating, is the business stage and the time when mentoring partners
come to an agreement on the learning goals and define the content and process of the relationship
(Zachary 2012). It is essential that during this phase I facilitate the conversation to enable a productive
meeting and set measurable goals with aligned activities that will ensure they attain their goals. Part of
the stage that I need to work on is creating a shared understanding of boundaries and limits. I will
accomplish this through communicating the delineation between the mentor and mentee s role and
responsibilities. The third stage, the enabling phase, takes the longest amount of time because it is
when the implementation of the learning occurs (Zachary 2012). During this period, I will support the
mentee s learning by communicating the goals and providing thoughtful and timely feedback and
encouragement. I will ensure that additional time is dedicated to supporting the mentee s work. Before
reading this book, I was less confident during this phase and

Agent Orange Dossier And The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War, lasting from 1955 1975, initially began as a civil war between North and South
Vietnam. The war eventually escalated into a foreign conflict involving multiple countries that backed
either region corresponding to their beliefs. The United States supported the democratic ideals of the
South and vigorously opposed the communist ideology of the North. They feared that if Vietnam fell
to communism, other countries would soon follow, according to the conception of the domino theory.
The United States predominantly influenced the war by sending roughly half a million military
personnel overseas. At first, American involvement received relatively positive reception. However, as
the war progressed, news of its horrific nature were revealed to the American public, which sparked
national outrage and formed anti war movements. One prominent group that participated in these
protests is a national veterans organization called Vietnam Veterans Against the Vietnam War. The
organization published a document titled Agent Orange Dossier containing a collection of newspaper
articles and photographs that focuses on the controversy surrounding the use of Agent Orange in
Vietnam. Agent Orange, a herbicide, was used extensively by the U.S. military in the Vietnam War to
destroy crop fields and vegetation. The herbicide contains dioxin, a chemical compound that poses
several health risks. These few issues made Agent Orange extremely controversial. The dossier seeks

The Effects Of Gunshot Residues On A Criminal Investigation
Gunshot Residues are a critical and an important trace evidence used in a criminal investigation.
Recovering and analyzing GSR evidence is carried out in order to link an individual to a certain
firearm. Finding GSR on a person s hand does not necessarily mean that he/she is the one that fired
the weapon. At the same time not finding any GSR particles does not prove that that person was not
the shooter. Gunshot Residues can easily be transferred to various surfaces not only by being in
contact with a firearm, but also shaking a hand with a person that has handled a weapon or any other
ammunition charged components. The formation of the GSR is due to the rapid cooling of the
discharge gasses and solid matter, originating from partially reacted components of the primer and
propellant, as well as the metallic composition of the firearm and ammunition. The residues can be
easily deposited onto the hand of the shooter and later transferred to other parts of the body such as the
skin, clothing and hair. Information taken from various reports and analysis throughout the years show
us that GSR are deposited on the skin (hand) immediately after the firing. The highest chance of
detecting a significantly good amount of residues is within the 1st hour of the incident. In practice
after 6hours GSR cannot be expected from a living person. There are many reports on how Gunshot
residues react with the skin, hands, clothes, as well as how to remove them. The important question is

nanoparticles (CS/GNPs) to enhance its catalytic activity, sensitivity, and limit of detection (LOD) to
NO. The schematic of the modified T CUA is illustrated in Scheme 2. The CA membrane precursor
solution was prepared according to a previous procedure.[reference] The pore size of the CA
membrane (~6 Å) filters out non gaseous molecules typically secreted by cells (i.e. proteins). The
average membrane thickness is determined to be ~100 nm using atomic force microscopy (AFM).
This is shown in Figure 1.The second modification is introduced to the T CUAs via one step
electrodeposition of chitosan gold nanoparticles (CS/GNPs). Figure 2 shows scanning electron
microscopy (SEM) images of an unmodified T CUA, a modified CS/GNPs T CUAs. Although, the
size of the GNPs ranges from 5 to 80 nm, there is an

It s considered the best natural appetite suppressant that has not been researched thoroughly but showed good efficacy. Another type of weight loss pills is gaining more popularity due to more safe and healthy effect comparing with others fat blockers. Among prescription drugs it is Xenical, blocking fat by affecting lipase enzymes responsible for fat absorption. It helped many people lose weight along with good dieting regime, but it s side effects include abdomen discomfort, diarrhea, and the inability to absorb a lot of important fat soluble vitamins and other nutrients. Alli is a lighter version of Xenical with the same side effects and many medical professionals refuse to ally themselves with Alli as best weight loss pill because of moderate efficacy combined with many side effects. Among natural fat blockers chitosan is widespread ingredient. There are many pills based on chitosan claiming fat blocking effect, but scientific researches proved weak fat blocking capacities of chitosan. As fat blocker, acting somewhat like Xenical but binding fats directly in the stomach, Proactol now is a leading weight loss pill. • 3. Should Heart Of Darkness Be Taught In Schools Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a highly debated book over whether or not it should be read in schools. Many people see Heart of Darkness as a racist book that is blatantly offensive to African Americans, but others view Heart of Darkness as an important book that explores many complex ideas, such as the internal conflict between a man s sanity and insanity, and Conrad s opposition to Imperialism, which was very prevalent during the time the book was written. While the opponents of Heart of Darkness say that this book should not be read in schools, I believe the book can be utilized in an academic environment. The opposers to this book do make a reasonable and correct point that this book uses very strong language and seems to be racist, Conrad did not intend to convey racist perspectives, rather, taking on that role to further his point towards Imperialism. Although it uses strong language in the book, that was used to show how Europeans viewed Africans during the time period. This should be read in an academic environment because it is a very well written text and can be used to show the effect of Imperialism during the 19th and 20th century. ... Marlow is an exaggerated version of the Europeans during the time period. He does this to show the flaws in how proponents of Imperialism felt. The book s original intention was to show the negative effects of Imperialism and how they affected people. The exaggerated racism of Marlow is to show how close minded Imperialists are and how, they themselves are racist. In this perspective, Conrad is not racist, but fighting for the rights of the ... Abstract Research Question How does the implementation of graphic organisers impact student learning with regard to a text type in literacy? Rationale Literature Review Introduction Graphic organisers used in writing a narrative are a visual cue for ordering information. To full understand the purpose of graphic organisers in classrooms it is useful to break the term down and look at the defintions of both graphic and organiser . The term graphic can be described as an adjective and means clear (2014). While the term organiser can be defined as a person or a thing used for organising. Teaching Practices Educators use the term graphic organisers which refers to a range of devices such as concept maps, mind webs, semantic maps, knowledge maps and tables. (O Donnell, 2012, p. 335) Effective writing programs use both modelled, guided and independent teaching strategies to help students comprehend and become successful in their creative writing (NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support Directorate). Graphic organisers can be implemented into this cycle which can be best described as I do , We do and You do (Christian, 2014). For the first stage of I do a graphic organiser can be selected by the teacher and displayed to the class, modelling ways of note taking and using the sections of the organiser to list ideas for further development in the writing task. Modelled writing means both modelling to students how to write and selecting models such as a graphic organiser to demonstrate how writing works (NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support Directorate). The teaching strategy of we do would involve the class making decisions with the guidance of the teacher about what graphic organiser to use and what points they think should be included in the organiser before jointly constructing a narrative. Finally, students can independently select and complete their own individual graphic organisers, known as I do , before then going on to write their own stories. Students ... • 6. The Importance Of The Japanese Education System Japan may be known for its beautiful cherry blossoms when they are in bloom, but they are also known for its unique education system. The rigorous workload these students go through have changed the way their overall performance scores have looked. The way that the Japanese education system works has some ways that align with how the brain learns. The uniqueness of Japan s education begins with the way their schooling is set up. The typical school year goes from April to March of the following year, with a summer break from mid July to the end of August. Unlike American schools, Japanese schools have three trimesters to break up the school year. Keeping with the pattern of three, the lower education of Japan is split into a six three three system: six years of elementary school (Shogakko), three years of middle school (Chugakko), and three years of high school (Kotogakko). There are different learning styles that are available once a student reaches high school. The courses that students can take are sorted into the categories of general, specialized, and integrated. General courses are suitable for all students. Specialized courses have specific subject matter suited for students who have chosen their future vocation, and include courses in agriculture, industry, commerce. . . music, art, and English (globalroadwarrior 3). The integrated courses are a mix of both general and specialized. The majority of Japanese students are taught by one teacher for all the subjects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. When Acetic Acid Meets The Criteria Of The Commercial Law Introduction In this experiment, you measure the acid concentration and determine if the acetic acid meets the criteria of the commercial law. The titration of vinegar has a solution composed of acetic acid (HC2H3O2), water and other substances. When adding sodium hydroxide (basic solution) to acetic acid (acid) it causes a neutralization reaction. The phenolphthalein is colorless in acid, and it will change color when adding the sodium hydroxide. In this experiment, there were four trials to reach the amount of sodium hydroxide needed to reach the end point. When you reach the end point of the experiment, the solution should be pink and if the solution is purple then it is over titrated. Discussion First, you make sure all of the liquid (water) is emptied out of the buret. Next, you fill the buret with sodium hydroxide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When pouring the NaOH in a flask, a drop of NaOH could be the difference of reaching the accurate measurement to titrate the vinegar sample or you can over titrate the vinegar sample. Questions 4. If the titrated standard NaOH, in the flask against vinegar, in the buret, instead of the way you actually performed the titration, how would you have recognized the end point with phenolphthalein indicator? Would carrying out the titration in this manner change your calculated results or conclusions? If the titration uses a phenolphthalein as an indicator, then its end point would always be recognized when the solution is pink. 5. Why is it a good idea to rinse the buret with the NaOH solution, instead of with water, before filling it at start of the titration? If you rinse the buret with water, there is still plenty of proton remaining and there shouldn t be any water left in the buret. If so, NaOH solution would be less as stronger than presumed. You wouldn t get the accurate result because the solution would be diluted. It would hard to determine the correct concentration of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When you wash your clothes, there s a science behind it. Everything is science. There are different branches of science. Including Biology, Botany, Zoology, and many more. But one of the most used in everyday life in the branches of science is the CHEMISTRY. It is a branch of physical science that deals with composition, structure, properties and changes of matter. Butwhen the day after comes, I was already confused on how to do the Redox. I tried to approach my classmates who are great in Consumer Chemistry. The basis of the monster and its true portrayal and the excitement of being scared of the monsters. Vampires on the other hand have changed the portrayal, even the argument of what is scary and what is not. Vampires used to be scary and unattractive, but now in modern times vampires are highly sexual, desirable, and even admirable. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eating disorders and fitness obsession are very popular in pop culture and vampires seem to only add fuel to the fire to these nasty behaviors. The vampires create relatable habits portrayals. Most male vampires are strong and tough, they can fight, kill, and protect the girl. This view makes men seem like that s what it takes to be a man. You have to be strong and competent in everything you do especially when it comes to your masculinity. Women are only reinforced by female vampires, because the female vampire is effortlessly beautiful and unrealistically desirable. The female vampire s outer beauty means more than what she is and who she is. Both male and female vampires do not eat. They survive off blood, but the fact society idolizes these beautiful vampires can also reinforce the creation of actual eating disorders and body complexes. Also considering body image, dominance between genders and relationships, and the main character in Vampire Diaries is Elena gilbert, she is beautiful, young 17 year old who seems to be the center of attention but her tragic life seems to be the reason for all the attention. She encounters two very strange, but yet very handsome older men. Who end up being vampires, the seduction is through the roof and has every teenager obsessed. These relatable human like experiences that these vampires convey draws society in. Two very attractive, wise, older, vampires who are just trying to live normal lives, but seem to get caught up in a romantic love triangle between Damon, Stefan Salvatore and Elena. Elena tries to stay independent, but somehow always needs the help of these two very strong and powerful vampires. The September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center In the early 1960 s, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Austin J Tobin, brought forward the proposal for a giant skyscraper complex in order to accommodate for much needed office space in Lower Manhattan. The plan was met with considerable opposition at first, but Tobin s proposal eventually succeeded, and Japanese American Minoru Yamasaki was commissioned to design the building. Yamasaki projected a novel design for a development that included two 110 storey twin towers . The following screams and sight of blood caused panic among the passengers. A passenger tried to interpose one of the hijackers, but he was also stabbed. In lakes, if people thoroughly clean boats before bringing it to a new lake, there won t be a chance that algae and other invasive plants could be spread into lakes. If everyone was cautious about bringing new plants and animals to new locations, the number of invasive species would be tremendously be brought down. Invasive species can negatively affect the environment. They can take out entire species by eating their food sources or by preying on them. When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in the Aspartame is converted to formaldehyde, and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. Just a basic overview before I go into detail, developed countries have a matured financial system, this includes the US and Canada, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. Developing countries are emerging markets across Asia, Latin America and Africa. And undeveloped countries are mainly African nations which remain vastly poor, such as Mali and Somalia. Before I go on about the BRICS countries of the future, I will start with today s BRICS nations why they are in BRICS. First, the B, Brazil. Brazil has sustained a high GDP growth rate as its Gross Domestic Product has passed the United Kingdom, but this is a small part of the equation. Brazil contains many minor oilfields, but this is still not the big picture. Although services makes up most of Brazil s economy, agricultural products like coffee, bananas and sugarcane have driven Brazil s growth. Plus, Brazil doesn t have an overpopulation problem, so they can export coffee, bananas and sugarcane, in fact Brazil is the number one producer of coffee in the world. The main drawbacks are the extensive crime combined with a corrupt political system. Next, the R, Russia. Russia is easily the odd one out of the BRICS countries. It doesn t currently sustain growth at any level even close to the other BRICS nations. But Russia contains huge coal mines and even more crude oil and natural gas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

South Kore Asian Currency Crisis Labeled as one of the most devastating economic events in the region, the Asian currency crisis of 1997, that began as a localized currency crisis in Thailand that summer and rolled east, led to Korea suffering nearly a 7% decline in GDP (real GDP), along with a 6% increase in unemployment levels in 1998. (Jangryoul Kim, 2012) Despite the fact the crises engulfed the entire Asian region, this paper analyses its impact on Korea. Despite Korea being one of the world s poorest countries in the 1950s with a per capita income of under $100 (Sharma, 2003), following separation from the North, South Korea (referred to as Korea throughout this paper) enjoyed lasting economic expansion from the 60s all the way up to 1997. The facts that by then Korea was the world s top manufacturer of computer RAM chips, the world s second largest ship builder, the third largest maker of semi conductors, and the fourth largest electronics producer meant that by the time the currency crisis hit the surrounding region following a devaluation of Thai baht in July 1997, investors (defined in this paper as the general public, plus speculators) believed that the crisis wouldn t hit Korea. • 35. Agent Orange Dossier And The Vietnam War The Vietnam War, lasting from 1955 1975, initially began as a civil war between North and South Vietnam. The war eventually escalated into a foreign conflict involving multiple countries that backed either region corresponding to their beliefs. The United States supported the democratic ideals of the South and vigorously opposed the communist ideology of the North. They feared that if Vietnam fell to communism, other countries would soon follow, according to the conception of the domino theory. The United States predominantly influenced the war by sending roughly half a million military personnel overseas. At first, American involvement received relatively positive reception. However, as the war progressed, news of its horrific nature were revealed to the American public, which sparked national outrage and formed anti war movements. One prominent group that participated in these protests is a national veterans organization called Vietnam Veterans Against the Vietnam War. The organization published a document titled Agent Orange Dossier containing a collection of newspaper articles and photographs that focuses on the controversy surrounding the use of Agent Orange in Vietnam. Agent Orange, a herbicide, was used extensively by the U.S. military in the Vietnam War to destroy crop fields and vegetation. The herbicide contains dioxin, a chemical compound that poses several health risks. These few issues made Agent Orange extremely controversial. The dossier seeks to inform ... Spacex s Next Rocket Launch SpaceX s next rocket launch has been delayed for a few months, following the June 28 explosion that destroyed an unmanned space station cargo ship to the International Space Station (ISS). Officials of the aerospace firm said the Falcon 9 rocket would launch in a few months, after previous plans to launch no later than September. WHY THE DELAY? Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX, said Monday at a scientific forum in Pasadena that they are still a couple months away from the next flight. She said they re taking more time than they originally had thought. But I don t think any of our customers wants us to race to the cliff and fail again, she said. The explosion that occurred in June has initiated more careful construction, delaying the next launch. • 38. The Effects Of Gunshot Residues On A Criminal Investigation Gunshot Residues are a critical and an important trace evidence used in a criminal investigation. Recovering and analyzing GSR evidence is carried out in order to link an individual to a certain firearm. Finding GSR on a person s hand does not necessarily mean that he/she is the one that fired the weapon. At the same time not finding any GSR particles does not prove that that person was not the shooter. Gunshot Residues can easily be transferred to various surfaces not only by being in contact with a firearm, but also shaking a hand with a person that has handled a weapon or any other ammunition charged components. The formation of the GSR is due to the rapid cooling of the discharge gasses and solid matter, originating from partially reacted components of the primer and propellant, as well as the metallic composition of the firearm and ammunition. The residues can be easily deposited onto the hand of the shooter and later transferred to other parts of the body such as the skin, clothing and hair. Information taken from various reports and analysis throughout the years show us that GSR are deposited on the skin (hand) immediately after the firing. The highest chance of detecting a significantly good amount of residues is within the 1st hour of the incident. In practice after 6hours GSR cannot be expected from a living person. There are many reports on how Gunshot residues react with the skin, hands, clothes, as well as how to remove them. The important question is what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Back in the 1800 s, this belief was made stronger because of William Mumler. Photographs and cameras were relatively new when Mumler started dabbling in photography, but he took the most amazing pictures. Not only did his pictures capture the images of the customers, but they also supposedly caught the images of the customer s deceased relatives (Mahnke, 2018). While there has been much debate about whether or not Mumler s photographs were doctored into looking as if a someone else was in the photo, the phenomenon still happens today with more advanced cameras and technology. ...I ... • 40. Pedagogic Design And Second Language Acquisition The Effectiveness of the Pedagogic Design and the Implementation of Computer Assisted Language Learning in relation to Second Language Acquisition Second Language Acquisition or SLA is a term used to describe learning a second language. There are a number of ways in which one can learn a second language, and in this essay I am going to discuss the links and relationship between second language acquisition and computer assisted language learning, with particular focus on the pedagogical aspects. The most obvious approach to learning a second language is undoubtedly through the Pedagogic Design, or learning from a teacher in a structured classroom environment. Computer Assisted Language Learning is another commonly used resource for language learning, and this is regularly referred to as CALL. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It originates from the general learning theory of Constructionism. It is a very learner centred method in Second Language Acquisition. Basically, the student s previous knowledge is expanded on and mentally constructed into new knowledge. The creative construction theory is often referred to as the Naturalistic Approach to second language acquisition. This theory complements that of Noam Chomsky, an American linguist and language theorist who believes that children are born with an inherited ability to learn any human language. He claims that many constructions in language, which children use so precisely, must be already imprinted on the child s mind. Chomsky believes that every child s brain has a language acquisition device , which is the reason that children acquire their first language so effortlessly. Second language acquisition in relation to the creative construction theory is an entirely internal process and unlike other SLA theories, it is not necessary that the learner speaks or ... Prenatal Screening According to https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0072602/ antenatal screening are done on people who do not feel ill and so suggest that screening can very useful for midwives in helping them detect disorders before any outward signs or symptoms are shown and allows midwives to identify babies that are at a high risk of a disorder and so prenatal diagnosis establishes whether or not the disorder is definitely present which can then lead to the disease being treated at an earlier stage. Screening does not replace diagnosis; it aims to provide midwives and mothers with information which can help them with further decision making. CHORIONIC VILLUS SAMPLING AND AMINOCENTESIS According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amniocentesis amniocentesis is a medical procedure which is used in prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal abnormalities and fetal infections as described below. • 42. The Fabrication And Modification Of T Cuas With Cellulose... 2.1 Fabrication and Modification of T CUAs with Cellulose Acetate (CA) Membrane and Chitosan Gold Nanoparticles (CS GNPs). T CUAs. Preparation of the T CUAs follows previously described procedures.[references] Briefly, the fabrication consist of dropcasting polystyrene spheres (PSS) of a diameter of 1.54 µm onto a conductive carbon pyrolized photoresist film (PPF) electrode.[references] In a collaboration with the Stevenson group, we have reported a method for detecting H2O2 using T CUAs.[reference] We introduce two modifications to T CUAs: (1) the addition of a cellulose acetate (CA) gas permeable membrane selective to NO and (2) the introduction of chitosan and gold nanoparticles (CS/GNPs) to enhance its catalytic activity, sensitivity, and limit of detection (LOD) to NO. The schematic of the modified T CUA is illustrated in Scheme 2. The CA membrane precursor solution was prepared according to a previous procedure.[reference] The pore size of the CA membrane (~6 Å) filters out non gaseous molecules typically secreted by cells (i.e. proteins). The average membrane thickness is determined to be ~100 nm using atomic force microscopy (AFM). This is shown in Figure 1.The second modification is introduced to the T CUAs via one step electrodeposition of chitosan gold nanoparticles (CS/GNPs). Figure 2 shows scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of an unmodified T CUA, a modified CS/GNPs T CUAs. Although, the size of the GNPs ranges from 5 to 80 nm, there is an ...
