Nathan took a photo at a bridge under a train station to capture an old-fashioned look. He added noise to make it look grainy and adjusted the saturation and exposure to give it a sepia tone. He used the clone stamp tool to remove modern elements from the scene. For precision editing, he used the clone stamp and noise tools in the raw camera filter. He adjusted the hue and saturation to achieve the sepia effect and washed out look that correlates with a dull color scheme preferred by 33% of his audience.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. Process
For this photo, I went to the research
district of Leeds. I already knew about
this piece of art however, and knew it
would make a good photograph for
my portfolio. Each colour switch has
been chosen without coincidence too.
They are all complimentary to each
other which will make it more
aesthetically pleasing for viewers. I
also increased the saturation to make
the colours seem brighter and
standout more. I did all the within the
raw camera raw filter as it help me go
into more depth with the editing and
helped my be more precise with my
saturation and colour editing. I also
used the polygonal lasso tool as the
area was not a complicated shape and
didn’t need something like the
magnetic lasso. The tools I used for
this edit were actually very simple.
The brightness slider was used so I
could make the colours burst out
more which is found in the editing
section of photoshop. I also used the
hue and saturation slider to edit it the
colours which is also found in the edit
bar. I chose to do an array of bright
colours for the edit as mt audience
consisted of 33% of people who enjoy
brighter/standout colours.

3. Process Tilt-Shift Effect
(miniature
effect)
Here I create a tilt shift effect, which
basically means I've made the image
look like it’s a toy set instead of a
picture of a real place.
I did this because I think its an
interesting style of editing that looks
very aesthetically pleasing when done
correctly. I did this by using the
gradient tool to select an area that will
be blurred gradually, to focus more on
the centre of the picture which is what
makes the effect. I also increased the
saturation a lot to make all the colours
stand out and make it seem more
toyish, which I think worked very well. I
used the saturation increaser on the
image adjuster because it is the easiest
way of increasing / decreasing
saturation. However I could’ve used
the camera raw filter but this is a level
of editing that is not necessary. To
make to focus fade in from the top and

4. Process
For this photo I decided to go to the bridge under the train
station. This is because I wanted to edit a photo in a way
that made it look old fashioned, but first I needed a place
that would also look old in a raw photo. To create the
grainy effect I added a small amount of noise to the photo,
to give it that old camera effect. And then I changed the
saturation to make it more sepia and increased the
exposure so it seemed lighters and grainier to make it look
more realistic. I noticed there were some 21st century
things in the raw photo such as the two vans and the
mobile minis sign, so I used the clone stamp tool to edit
them out. To capture this shot I had to position myself on a
high angle to get the perspective I wanted. For this edit,
my tool selection was very specific. To achieve a precision
removal of certain objects within my photo, I used the
clone stamp too to create a kind of of mirror patch over
things to make them seem like they aren't there. For the
grainy effect, I used the noise effect tool in the raw camera
filter editing tool, which allowed me to precisely increase
or decrease the amount of noise I wanted to use within my
image. To get the sepia effect I simply used the hue and
saturation slider to create the beige effect, and then used
the exposure slider to make the image seem more washed.
I went for a more old looking, tattered colour scheme
because it correlates with a more dull colour scheme,
which 33% of mu audience preferred.

5. Process In this image I went to the top of a carpark in the
morning so there would be no cars in the way. I
also chose this specific carpark as it has the best
views of Leeds and would make for some good
shots. One of my friends was skating so he ended
up been in the shot, but I think it adds more
character to the photograph instead of ruining it.
For the editing side to it I took a more simple
approach as I felt like I didn’t need much
alteration. I started by changing the curves so
that it would be a little bit darker at the bottom
and lighter at the top. I then added more
saturation to give the photo more colour and
vibrancy to add character and make it more
aesthetically pleasing. I then added slightly more
exposure to give it more of a hazy mid day look.
Finally I added a custom gradient map that faded
from a light blue to yellow to add even more
haziness, which is the look I was going for on this
edit as I wanted to make it warmer. For most of
these effects, I used the slider tools found in the
editing bar on photoshop. It’s the easiest way to
apply effects quickly. The only separate thing I
used for this was the light levels editing tool
which is based off of a curvature model to
represent it. I used lighter colours/weaker
colours in the image, because my audience
research shoed that 33% of people prefer this
type of colour scheme.
