Working Title: Motion
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose: The products has 2 purposes. The first purpose been that I want to find
the best and nicest looking places in my city and capture them for my own portfolio, and 2
is to simply entertain those who view it. I want people to see my images and think that they
look cool or nice and maybe view them more than once. I decided this because I like people
to think that I do interesting things, and by editing photos in a n interesting way I could get
people to think this. I also edit photos at home and have an interest within photography, so
doing this as my final project at college seemed a good opportunity to build upon the
knowledge I already have.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre: it is a photo series. It will help people see the deeper parts of leeds and maybe want
to visit them. Also the product its self is a portfolio of many different edited images and
also raw images then I decided not to edit.
What sort of product is it?
Content my product (portfolio) will be full of things such as imagesfrom around leedsthat
have been printed without any editing in small, and photos I think look good enough to edit
will be printed larger so they stand out more on my portfolio. The photo has a story in a
sense that it is my journey exploring leeds and finding interesting spots around it to
capture. Also, each edited photo will be editied in a different way to the other. For example I
may use the tilt-shift effect on a photo that overlooks the city as it would work best for that
sort of image, whereasa place that looked more run down and closer up I would edit in a
way to make it look very old as that would suit that sort of image. The raw imageswill all be
presented in rows with numbers under them to give a sense of chronological order as well.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here I am only going to be putting pictures in my product, as it is mainly just a
portfolio of my own edited pictures.
Research & Planning
Where will you use elements of your research and planning to influence and inform your final idea
(be specific to certain parts)
I will use sperate editing styles to create more variety within my photos to make each individual
piece standout more. However, it’s a portfolio so I will stick to one running theme which will be that
its in the city of leeds. But the photos will be different in terms of composition, location, time of day,
weather people are in the shots or not etc. I also did a questionnaire for my research, which gave
me some useful results which helped me determine what I wanted to do. An example of this is
when I asked what sort of audience I have, and all the answers were men which allowed me to
determine things like the colour schemes and what sort of sports I will capture.
Audience: my audience is primarily those from 16-19 as that was the only age group who
answered my survey. The gender I am aiming for is both as the style of pictures I am taking
are not confined to a gender. However the main target is males. I will do this by adding
more masculine colours and sports into my images. The social status however can be
argued. I am primarily aiming for middle class to upper class people, as they tend to
appreciate the arts more than the working class and I feel they would appreciate the value
of my photos more. My psychographic is balanced, as the people im aiming for can
appreciate an image for something like its aesthetic qualities, whislt also been able to
understand and comprehend a message given through my photos if I wasto do such as
