Indonesia Needs Sex Education in Order to Combat Unwanted...
A. Reproductive health services have and currently do struggle against obstacles including religious
beliefs, governmental policies, educational shortcomings, and governmental financial
circumstances. With the increase in reproductive health medicine and technology, an increase for
the global standard of living, and women s rights movements worldwide, global access to
reproductive health services is becoming more and more of a priority. Topics such as abortion and
form of contraception are highly debated. Indonesia is the world s most populous Muslim majority
nation, with almost 86.1% of Indonesians declared Muslim according to the 2000 census. 8.7% of
the population is Christian, 3% are Hindu, and 1.8% Buddhist or other ( Demographics... Show

This will help prevent infant fatalities, infant malnourishment, and maternal fatality during birth.
C. Indonesia s proposition to achieve these goals and to provide global access to reproductive
health services is quite simple. The committee should make a resolution which requires
governments to create and fund a board which is given the task to provide the citizens of the
country (ranging from youths to young adults to adults to the elderly) with adequate education in
relation to sexual intercourse and the consequences of intercourse and all other sex related issues.
The board would also provide various contraceptives for either free (funds permitting) or as
discounted as possible. The board would have to provide various contraceptives in order to meet
the standards of the individual receiving the contraception s religious beliefs. This would help
significantly reduce sexual related problems seen in today s world, such as abortion, STDs, and
unwanted pregnancy.

A. It is easy for large countries with powerful governments to abuse their rights to eminent domain
when given the task of hosting a mega event such as the Olympic Games or FIFA World Cup
. In the
past countries have abused this right and found ways around the current international laws that

How Are Hector And Achilles Alike
Achilles and Hector are similar in a few ways but are different in many more. Both men are
renowned warriors and some of the best fighters for their sides. And unfortunately, both men are
fated to die. Both men are human, although only barely in Achilles s case, who can only be
wounded if hit in a small spot on his heel. But despite these few similarities, Achillesand Hectorare
more different than they are alike. Achilles let s himself be ruled by his emotions while Hector has
a more steady and calm temperament. Hector has a wife and a son and is capable of showing love
towards others, Achilles on the other hand only speaks to his mother when he needs something:
revenge, or armor. One drastic difference between the two men is an unfortunate character flaw that
Achilles portrays constantly: anger. In fact the first sentence of the Iliadclearly states that it is the
story of Achilles s anger. Sing, goddess, the anger of Peleus son Achilles and it s devastation. (I, 1
2) Throughout the story you continuously see the products of his rage. He refuses to fight for
Agamemnon because of the stealing of Breisis, and instead invokes the power of Zeus so that the
Greeks will lose against the Trojans until his (Achilles s) honor has been restored. If perhaps he
(Zeus) might be willing to help the Trojans, and pin the Achaians against the ships and the water,
dying, so that thus they may all have profit of their own king, that Atreus son wide ruling
Agamemnon may recognize

Aphrodite s Role In Greek Mythology
Greek mythology has influenced today s world due to the actions of the Greek Gods and Goddess
. Aphrodite, the goddess of love, fertility, and beauty, is an influence of a moral lesson in today s
society and caused an act of destruction.
In Greek mythology the Greek goddess Aphrodite has many myths and stories impacting today s
life. She was the goddess of love, fertility, and beauty. Many myths claim that she was an
irresistible, beautiful, loving goddess. Homer has said that she was the child of Zeus and Dione born
in Illiad. In Illiad she was a weak creature that no mortal was in fear of. Hesoid says Aphrodite
rose from foam in the sea where Kronois had cut off Uranus genitals. This sea birth was near
Cythera and she later went to the island ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the myth Psyche, Psyche was a Greek goddess who many people payed attention to. But when
more people began to pay attention to Psyche Aphrodite got very jealous. So Aphrodite got one
of her sons Eros, also known as Cupid, to go and strike her with her arrow to make her fall in
love with an ugly mean creature. When Eros laid eyes on her he immediately fell in love and
sent her to a castle in a land far away. Psyche thought he was and evil monster because he kept
his identity hidden from Psyche until one night when she saw his face. She was going to kill
him and try and escape but when she turned on the light she saw his true identity and instantly
fell in love. In fear Eros flew off and Psyche began searching for him everywhere. She went
everywhere until she decided to ask Aphrodite for help. Although Aphrodite gave her very hard
tasks to complete, such as having to go far into the sea and almost everywhere, before she found
him she realized something. Aphrodite realized that her son s happiness shouldn t be controlled
by her needs(Colombian Encyclopedia). She should let him be happy even if she doesn t like who
it s with. The moral lesson Aphrodite influenced today s society with was if a person loves
somebody they should let them be happy, even if it impacts their life. Somebody s happiness
shouldn t affect another persons. Aphrodite influenced today s society but

Depersonalization Research Paper
Depersonalization Derealization Disorder Is characterized by a persistently or repeatedly
feelings of being you are observing yourself from outside your body or have a sense of thing

or never completely go away, and accompanied by intact reality testing. The disorder is common
after traumatic experiences, do not attributable to the physiological effects of substance, medical

What Is A Four-Distributed Static Compensator
This paper deals with a four leg distributed static compensator (DSTATCOM) which is used to solve
the current related power quality. An amplitude adaptive notch filter (AANF) is employed for the
reference current extraction of DSTATCOM control scheme because of its simplicity, capability of
frequency and amplitude measuring, appropriate extraction of the fundamental signal, and
insensitivity to the amplitude variation of the input signal. To generate the gate pulses of the
switches, an adaptive hysteresis band current controller is used. In addition, fuzzy logic controllers
are used for a better performance of DSTATCOM under dynamic conditions. The proposed control
algorithm is robust to power disturbances, especially when the main voltage... Show more content

However, these algorithms generally demonstrate a slow time response. Time domain algorithms
are based on the instantaneous extraction of harmonic currents/voltages. The common time domain
control strategies are instantaneous reactive power theory (IRPT) [6] and synchronous reference
frame theory (SRF) [7]. Calculation of active and reactive powers by transforming three phase
voltages and currents into two phases is the principle of PQ theory, which does not work properly
under non sinusoidal supply conditions [8]. SRF theory is based on conversion of three phase
quantities into their corresponding dc components, and low pass filters (LPFs) are employed for
harmonic filtering which contain a time delay and deteriorate the performance of the controller [9].
Most of the advanced control and signal processing methods are accurate and show a better
dynamic response than the FFT, but a large amount of calculations is required, which does not
demonstrate an excellent performance in frequency varying conditions [10 13]. Adaptive notch filter
(ANF) is another advanced algorithm which has been introduced as an effective control technique
for extracting reference sinusoidal components from distorted input signal. ANF is capable of
changing the notch frequency suitably by tracking the frequency variations of the input signal [14
16].
To the best knowledge of the authors, the modified notch filter in a

Frost At Midnight Analysis
In a conversation poem titled Frost at Midnight, romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge creates a
persona of himself who spends the duration of the poem having a one sided conversation with his
newly born baby. The narrator laments his own childhood, but finds solace in knowing that his
baby has potential for a better life than he, since the baby will have a nature centered upbringing.
The narrator contrasts constricted and expansive imagery, enumerated and enjambed sentences, and
alienated and familiar diction to underline the differences between his own childhood education,
which was spent studying books, and the childhood education he hopes his baby will have. The
narrator suggests that nature will offer his baby a childhood education superior to his own because
nature will teach the baby to be one with the world, allowing him to feel peace and serenity no
matter the circumstances. In this poem, the narrator opens up with a serene scene of a winter night
or so it seems. Although the narrator describes an externally cozy, peaceful scene, he unveils a
discordant heart, as suggested by the restless tone he uses. During this silent night, the narrator
watches a piece of soot flicker over the fire: Only that film, which fluttered on the grate, / Still
flutters there, the sole unquiet thing. Methinks, its motion in this hush of nature / Gives it dim
sympathies with me who lives, / Making it a companionable form (15 19). In other words, the
narrator associates himself with

While some Neotropical primate species use the forest floor extensively, others tend to exploit the
ground only when necessary. A recent overview of ground use by Pitheciidae covered Pitheciinae

(Callicebiinae: Callicebus, Cheracebus and Plecturocebus). However, unlike the generally high
canopy Pitheciinae, members of the Callibiinae often use low forest strata and disturbed fragments,
putting them in closer contact with the ground, but the terrestrial repertoire of this group is so far
unknown. We provide a comprehensive review that combines existing literature with unpublished

White Collar Crime And White Collar Crimes
White collar crimes have very distinguishing features that convey a different standard than any
other set of crimes that are committed within the judicial system. Consequently, these features are
what make white collar crimes not only hard to identify that a crime has occurred, but also the cost
and extent of the crimes. First white collar crimes are not oblivious to those around them, unlike
street crimes where you realize that a crime has been committed. Unlike a murder or burglary, the
signs that a crime has been committed are seen quickly. White collar crimes like embezzlement,
health care fraud, mortgage fraud may not be uncovered for an extended period if not ever. Thus,
knowing the crime has been committed leads to the understanding of the perpetrators of the crime
being discovered. Moreover, the alleged perpetrator of the white collar crimehas legitimate access
to items involved in the crimes. Within common antisocial behavior those crimes have a
perpetrator that can be identified due to the fact a crime was discovered and they don t have a
legitimate reason to be somewhere or have access to things. Even with white collar crimes being
discovered those who are perpetrating them are harder to identify due to the lapse in discovery
and the understand of the complexity of the crimes. With all crimes, there is a victim to be found.
However, with white collar crimes this becomes a very complicated issue, unlike ordinary street
crimes where are victim is readily

Complexity Theory as Applied to Nursing Essay
Complexity Theory as Applied to Nursing, 2005
Abstract
Many conventional ideas about the world we live in have been shaken to their foundations by the
emerging concepts of chaos and complexity. Insights are now being gained from the application of
complexity theory into phenomena varying in scale from the natural sciences such as biology to
the concept of caring in the nurse patient relationship. These new scientific ideas have significant
implications for the theory and practice of nursing.
This paper will cover four key concepts from complexity theory that will be introduced as relevance
to nursing. These include: unpredictable dynamic systems; the whole is greater than the sum of its
parts; fuzzy and permeable boundaries; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If nothing is done, body mass will decline at a steady and predictable rate due to a catabolic
metabolism. However, dynamic systems can produce startling variability over short time scales due
to their sensitivity to feedback.
This variability can make the system appear chaotic and unpredictable, rather like the weather.
However, computer analysis of such systems reveals that there is a deeper underlying order within
the apparent chaos.
There are rules governing the behavior of the system over a short range in space and time,
therefore it is referred to as deterministic or predictable chaos. The challenge is to discover the rules
and determine how they operate so that we might gain insight into the apparently chaotic behavior
before us. Deterministic chaos should be distinguished from unpredictable chaos which refers to
random fluctuation or background noise, often distractingly superimposed upon the bigger picture.
This is often the case over long ranges and periods of time and cannot be predicted. It is not
possible in human experience (Stacey, Douglas, Shaw, 2002).
An individual s health behavior is influenced by feedback from his or her actions. Small decisions
made today can have major, unforeseen consequences tomorrow. A moment s reflection also reveals
that the health care system and nursing has the characteristics of a dynamic system in that what
happens today affects

Role of Bank Capital
Introduction
The main aim of this report is to identify the key roles played by bank capital in the banking
business. This report briefly outlines the main functions of bank capital and takes a brief look at
the benefits of bank capital to the bank and the banking industry. It is hoped that from reading this
paper a general understanding of the roles of bank capital in the banking business can be gained.
Bank Capital
A bank s capital also known as equity is the margin by which creditors are covered if the bank s
assets were liquidated. A bank must hold enough capital to protect lenders and depositors from
losses and also allow the bank to meet its customer requirements. Banks must maintain capital levels
equal with the amount of risks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normally this risk can also be managed easily by hedging interest rate changes by the use of
derivative instruments.
However unanticipated system wide shocks result in a greater demand for liquidity and are far
more difficult to deal with. At such times significant liquidity demands emerge from both a banks
asset and the liability side. Refinancing short term debt in the money markets is liability related
and off balance sheet exposures can unexpectedly come onto the assets side of the balance sheet.
Therefore a bank must be prepared when there is a market wide scramble for liquidity and be able
to manage funding challenges and unplanned asset expansions simultaneously by having sufficient
bank capital.
Promote economic growth
A strongly capitalized banking sector also is better able to promote innovation, whether in the
form of new products, new services or new distribution channels. Banks do not just hold capital to
overcome distress, but also because it provides them with financial flexibility. Banks with a strong
capital base can take advantage of growth opportunities. A strong banking sector made up of banks
with strong capital bases, is better able to supply credit to businesses and fund

CHIP emerged from a budget negotiation between a Democratic president and Republican
Congress. As such, the program represents a fine balance, designed to maintain equilibrium
between states and the federal government, as well as between political conservatives and liberals.
It contains elements of both an entitlement program and a block grant. States have the option of
providing child health assistance in SCHIP through Medicaid, a separate program, or a combination
of the two. There is also flexibility in benefit design, though benefits must meet certain set
standards. As in Medicaid, state payments for child health assistance under SCHIP qualify for
federal matching payments. On average, the federal government pays 70 percent and state
governments pay 30 percent of program costs. Unlike Medicaid, however, these enhanced federal
matching payments are limited by national and state specific allotments, or annual limits on federal
funding. SCHIP has a system to redistribute federal allotments from states that did not spend the
full amount to others that may need higher amounts. States may use up to 10 percent of their
annual allotments on outreach, administration, and other activities.
A federally funded evaluation found SCHIP to be successful in nearly all of the areas examined.
Since inception in 1997, enrollment has increased steadily to 6.1 million children in FY 2005. This

Descartes Discourse On Method Summary
The mythical phoenix is born in the ashes of its mother once she has been consumed in flame,
becoming stronger than she ever was. In Discourse on Method, Descartes hopes to destroy the
conventional understanding of philosophy that has been followed throughout the ages, and in doing
so establish his own philosophy as the new convention in the ashes of the old philosophy. In this
paper, I will present Descartes findings of instability in philosophy and distaste for the way people
learn as his motivation for undertaking this reconstruction of his thoughts, finding a firm and
lasting basis for the sciences as his end goal for the reconstruction, and his rules for conducting
thoughtand code of doubt as the way by which he hopes to achieve... Show more content on

Descartes takes this idea and applies it to book learning, and he concludes that book learning is
composed and enlarged little by little from the opinions of many different persons. However, he
believes that book learning does not draw nearly as close to the truth as the simple reasonings that a
man of good sense can naturally make about the things he encounters. Descartes believes that one
should trust in their reason rather than in their knowledge which has been collected from the
opinions of others. Secondly, Descartes, by embarking on this reconstruction of his thoughts, hopes
to find a stable basis for the sciences. Since Descartes was trained as a mathematician, he likes to
find proofs for ideas, so that he can know them with absolute certainty. Initially, he believes
philosophy to be the basis for the sciences insofar as they [the sciences] borrow their principles
from philosophy. However, he concludes that philosophy cannot be the basis for the sciences,
saying, one could not have built anything upon such unstable foundations. Now, he has to find a
stronger foundation for the sciences and it is only through the reconstruction of his thought that he
is able to do this. Lastly, Descartes uses two methods to carry out the reconstruction of his thoughts.
The first method is his four rules for conducting thought, which will characterize the way that he
will look at the world during this period of reconstruction. The first rule is

The amount of money that the nation uses to support people on welfare significantly low
compared to other things where the money is coming from taxpayers wallets. In his online
article, Here s 6 Common Welfare Myths We All Need To Stop Believing , Tom Cahill proves,
The University of California at Berkeley calculated that federal welfare programs cost taxpayers
roughly $152 billion per year... 73 percent of that going to people with at least one part time job.
It may seem as though this is an enormous amount but when it is compared to the cover ups and
other money used from us taxpayers, then the amount is minimal. Cahill also states, In reality,
the average monthly benefit paid out to SNAP recipients is a paltry $133 per person. TANF
benefits averaged out to just $392 per household in 2010. And again, these benefits are only
available for 5 years throughout a person s lifetime. That isn t exactly enough to break the
budget of the largest economy in the world. He also explains what the bigger portion of the tax
money is used for when he says, American taxpayers spend $1.5 trillion each year on welfare..,
the fossil fuel industry, too big to fail banks, performance based bonuses for corporate CEOs,
corporate jets, and other superfluous programs that run on the taxpayer dime. That s ten times as

video should contain footage of you passing, scoring, dribbling and running. If you can do
unique field tricks, a top corner reverse shot or an amazing drag flick, you should show it off.
The complete video should be approximately 10 to 15 minutes long. You should also provide full

There are about 300,000 child soldiers nowadays, six thousand of which are in the Central

fight in the country s wars. These children are forced to do various of different jobs. Typically
these children do jobs such as spying, cooking, being warriors, servants, carrying weapons,
acting as sex slaves and more ( Child soldiers ). Numerous children are taken by force such as
being kidnapped, bribed or being convinced to join the army, however, some children decide to
join the army because they cannot survive all by themselves. Occasionally these children join the
army because they are orphans frequently because their parents were killed by rebels or during a
war, which means the children do not have money, food or knowledge on how to take care of
themselves or survive. The children that join the army are commonly from ages eleven or twelve

Symbolism In Lunchbox
On a daily basis, people are affected by infrastructures. When thinking about infrastructure, a
physical operation such as freeways and transportation comes to mind; however, infrastructures are
not limited to such restrictions. An infrastructure is a system that combines its physical form with
symbolism. Infrastructures demonstrate the relationship from the past and future, affect people s
lives, and have a deeper meaning underneath the physical surface. This can be better understood
from the reading InfrastructureToolbox and noticed in the film Lunchbox.
One s culture is highly influenced by the past. It creates and explains their tradition while
ultimately determining what the future holds. For instance, food plays a crucial role in culture
especially for the people of Bombay/Mumbai; which is where the film Lunchbox takes placed.
The film focuses on a delivering system that acts as an infrastructure. This system is made up of
people delivering home cooked meals and meals from restaurants at the consumer s job for their
lunch. One major reason why the people of Mumbai utilizes this system is to maintain their
tradition of having warm home cooked meals despite them being at work. This displays the
importance of family to them. The food symbolizes the feeling of being connected and together
despite the distance. These lunchboxes are able to keep the tradition of having a hot home cooked
meal alive. Because of the old tradition, this new concept of delivering lunch boxes

The Ethan Couch Case
Affluenza, the guilt or lack of motivation experienced by people who have made or inherited large
amounts of money. The case that brought the term affluenza about was the Ethan Couch case. The
case is about how Couch essentially killed four people but got out of doing time in prison because
of money and his inability to make good decisions thanks to his parents and wealth. The author of
this paper believes that Ethan Couch should have gotten harsher sentencing. The sentence should
have been what you get for vehicular manslaughter because four people died and two people were
severely injured. The reasons that Affluenza is not a valid excuse for getting away with a heinous
crime are, the term was only brought up by a witness during the Couch... Show more content on

Affluenza was used as a reason for Couch needing to have his charges lessened, but in looking
through reasons that someone can have their sentence lessened Affluenza was not among them.
The term itself is just a mix of affluence and influenza. Neither of these things would lessen a
sentence in court by itself, and affluenza is not term even used in any courts nor does it hold
weight as a term. Ethan Couch was old enough to make decisions by himself. He would have
known that drinking heavily and driving was a bad decision. If he had just acted his age he
would have either asked someone to drive him of gotten a taxi to go home, and avoided the
whole incident and not had to go to court. He was 16 years old at the time of the case so he
would have known what he did was wrong. The final issue with the term Affluenza is that the
term itself gives rich people the right to say that Affluenza was the cause of their crime. If
Affluenza is to be used as a valid excuse for a crime then other people would be able to create
their own special reason for why they did their crime. Any rich person or semi wealthy person
could say that they or a relative were affected by Affluenza and could get away with the least
possible punishment when they should have gotten a worse

Before examining the effects and influences of American popular culture on the world, I need to
disclose saying culture or mainstream culture is American. It is troublesome, best case scenario,
to assert that a specific gathering of people share similar estimations of life, encounters and
practices. The 300 million people that live in the United States originate from many diverse
countries and all have distinctive cultures, religions and dialects, so it is difficult to assume that
these people are a piece of a similar American popular culture. The issues make entertaining and

IMPLEMENTATION ANALYSIS
The full policy process is often described by the following steps:
1) problem definition
2) alternative generation
3) analysis of alternatives
4) policy adoption
5) policy implementation
6) policy evaluation
While this course has focused on the first three steps, the last three steps are equally important. A
thorough policy analysis will include some consideration of policy implementation, monitoring, and
evaluation.
The policy analyst can sketch out an implementation plan for the most highly ranked alternative(s)
that considers:
1) relevant actors and their interests
2) required resources and who might provide them
3) facilitators and barriers likely to be encountered
4) reasonable time frame ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The policy was implemented (uniforms were adopted) but the expected change did not occur. The
theory that violence occurs due to style of dress is wrong. There must be some other cause of
school violence, which would require a different policy to address.
An implementation failure occurs when the policy is not implemented as intended. For example,
the school may adopt a uniform policy, but the majority of the students ignore it. The level of
violence in the school does not change. We still do not know whether adopting school uniforms
would lower the level of violence in the schools; we only know that uniforms were not adopted.
FORMATIVE EVALUATION
If adequate monitoring processes are in effect, it should be fairly easy to detect whether a policy
has been implemented as intended. This type of policy monitoring has been referred to as formative
evaluation. Formative evaluation documents and analyzes how a policy is implemented, with the
objective of making improvements as the implementation process unfolds. EVALUATION DESIGN
Policy evaluation applies accepted social science research methods to public programs. The same
research designs used in laboratory experiments are not always practicable in the field, but the same
principles can guide the planning and execution of policy evaluation.
Before and After Evaluation: a policy is evaluated for the changes it has produced since its
implementation; the situation is controlled to

Cry the Beloved Country Movie versus Film Essay
Cry, the Beloved Country is a moving story of the Zulu pastor Stephen Kumalo and his son
Absalom. They live in an Africa torn apart by racial tensions and hate. It is based on a work of
love and hope, courage, and endurance, and deals with the dignity of man. The author lived and
died (1992) in South Africa and was one of the greatest writers of that country. His other works
include Too Late the Phalarope, Ah, but Your Land Is Beautiful, and Tales from a Troubled Land.

At times, sections of dialogue are lifted directly from the books pages. More importantly, however,
Paton s themes are brought home with devastating, deep impact through a production that captures
the book s essence as close as it recounts the narrative. There isn t a false note in Cry, The Beloved
Country. Every scene in the film is perfectly executed with great composition.
Cry, The Beloved Country is the first movie about racial relations in South Africa I personally have
seen which trusts the viewer s intelligence enough not to set up one or more characters as a straw
man to represent everything evil about apartheid. Technically, the time period of the movie predates
the formal institutionalization of apartheid, but I still think the point s valid. Based on Alan Paton s
1946 novel, this film gives us a loving but painful look at a society headed toward increasing
division and violence. James Earl Jones and Richard Harris give great performances as fathers
who are tested by the unhappy fates of their respective sons. When these two have their first major
scene together, we can t help but feel compassion over the emotion involved. And later, when they
eye each other while taking refuge from a storm in a leaky church, they become an picture for two
different and wary tribes sharing a common home. The meat of Cry, the Beloved Country concerns
how events in the wake of the shooting transform the lives of Stephen Kumalo and James Jarvis.

Organizational Leadership Paper
Organizational Leadership
Description of Organizational Leadership
Organizational leadership is a twofold management style that works towards what is best for
employees/ people and what is greatest for the company or group as a whole at the same time. It
is also a mind set and a work ethic that empowers an individual in any role to lead from the top,
middle, or bottom of an organization (Technologies, 2017).
Key Factors During my research for this paper I learned that there are five key Factors of
organizational leadership which are, Worldview, Strength, communication, ethics and leadership.
Worldview is a complex image created from the different ways which people view the world. It is
not focused on identity, political stance, or religious viewpoints, although it does include these
(Technologies, 2017). This compiles everything a person thinks about the world, joining together
the real and the indefinable. Worldview can be described by attitudes, opinions, beliefs, and ideas
that influence people. Additionally, organizational leadership requires an understanding of the
combined worldview of the organization, which consists of the many various and sometimes
conflicting worldviews of the people within that organization (Technologies, 2017). A great leader
is someone who can see the strength in others and themselves and use those strengths to their
advantage, and at the same time work around weaknesses. Strength can be defined as consistent,
near perfect performance in an activity. A person should perform an activity at approximately a

The Pros And Cons Of Self Censorship
In today s society, people no longer communicate with each other on a respectful level. Although
everyone has their own opinion, this generation does not take other people s opinions into
perspective. There are very few leaders who are setting examples for their peers. They are
constantly bashing their objectors for not having the same opinions and ideas that they think are
competent. This causes this generation to self censor themselves because they do not want to
receive negative backlash on their opinions and ideas. Self censorshipis exercising control over
what one has to say and how he or she may act in order to avoid castigation (English Oxford Living
Dictionaries). It also obstructs creativity and prevents individuals from forming their own opinions
and ideas.
Self censorship prevents this generation from exploring the depths of creativity and forces people
to hold back opinions that may be bottled up on the inside. It can affect everyone. Adults often have
business ideas that they think can impact our younger generation and that generation to come, but
because of the fear of co workers disagreeing with them, they may contradict their original thought.
This precludes their talents from advancing on to the next level of success (OxBow School).
Students sometimes can have different opinions than their teachers, but out of fear of getting in
trouble, they never vocalize their opinions. This can at times affect the relationship between the
teachers and their students

Figurative Language In Casey At Bat
Written by Ernest Lawrence Thayer in 1887, Casey at Bat is a narrative American poem and
story, telling of a baseball s game s final half inning between the home team Mudville, and another
team. The poem has a main character named Mighty Casey, the team s star hitter. Ultimately, Casey
loses the game for his Mudville team at the end of the poem because he strikes out. Casey at the Bat
s theme is baseball with its tone being both exciting and suspenseful. Its tone also begins calmly,
getting eager towards the middle, and then disappointing at the end. The purpose of this paper is to
identify three figurative languages used throughout the poem. The three figurative languages that
will be defined is metaphor, personification, and hyperbole.
Metaphor
Metaphors are considered to be one of the most important forms of figurative languages used in
everyday speech, prose, fiction, and poetry. According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the
English Language, a metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase that ordinarily
designates one thing is used to designate another, thus making an implicit comparison (Van Engen,
2008). Metaphors are used to enhance imagination of the reader when reading stories and poems.
Metaphors make imaginative comparisons between two completely different objects; one object
said to be another. For instance, in the poem Casey at the Bat, the author uses a metaphor to
compare players to objects by stating the players are those actual

Challenging Lutgendorf s Ideas within his Article through...
Intro: The discourse of film is a questionable field of study in its own respect. To say whether a
film is influence or not by another medium is a problematic area as there are many factors to
account for which can influence an artist s project. In Philip Lutgendorf s article, Is There An
Indian Way of Filmmaking? (2006), he attempts to suggest how texts from the Indian cultural
heritage could be used for the discourse of both Indian cinema as well as to the study of cinema
itself, which justifies discussion. This essay will attempt to challenge Lutgendorf s ideas within his
article through Hayao Miyazakis film, Spirited Away(2001) through the discussion of manga
/animae origin, Japanese mythology, and genre hybridity.
Plot Summary: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Manga literally translates to informal drawings or impromptu sketches , and are the Japanese
equivalent to comic books. New Treasure Island featured many western influences such as the
use of big eyes, which is noticeable in Walt Disney s work. Ultimately, Tezuka laid the
foundations for modern manga. Because of manga s large popularity, it went onto the filmic
medium known as animae. Like manga and its early development, animae has had help in its
creative development. The large sum of aid in the growth of animae was western influences in
cartooning, such as Walt Disney, as well as literature from works from Lewis Carroll s Alice in
Wonderland (1865) and L. Frank Baum s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900). Spirited Away
contains influences of both Alice in Wonderland as well as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz since
both Chihiro, Dorothy, and Alice are lost in a fantastical world which they know nothing about, and
face a female power hungry antagonist who attempts to stop their desire to go back home.
Para. 1: Referring back to the origins of manga and animae, these art forms were created to repress
the American influence over Japan through the revival of traditional Japanese art practices such as
woodblock paintings, and jojЕЌ ga literally translated to sentimental , or lyrical painting , which
was created by Yumeji Takehisa (1884 1934), and often depicted portrait paintings of Japanese
women. These

Sarbanes Oxley Act, An Overview Essay
As your financial Adviser I am legally obligated to act in your best interest, which means to advise
and explain to you some important changes in the accounting field relating to Sarbanes Oxley Act,
also called SOX. In July 2002, The US Congress enacted the Sarbanes Oxley Act, Also known as the
Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act (in the Senate) and Corporate and
AuditingAccountability and Responsibility Act (in the House). Co authored by U.S. Sen. Paul
Sarbanes of Maryland and U.S. Rep. Michael Oxley of Ohio. (Slaughter, 2015).
This legislation requires help curb financial abuses at companies that issue their stock to the public.
SOX requires that these public companies apply both accounting oversight and stringent internal
controls. The desired results include more transparency, accountability, and truthfulness in reporting
transactions . (Wild, 2015, pg. 12).
The Sarbanes Oxley Act is considered the most important piece of security legislation since the
formation of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 1934. It requires the managers
and auditors of companies, whose stock is traded on an exchange to document and certify the
system of internal controls. The landmark Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 was implemented in
response to a series of high profile financial scandals that happened in the early 2000s at companies
such as Enron, WorldCom and Tyco that abused the rule based accounting practices that resulted in

Role Of Geography In European Geography
Before examining Spain and her position within Europe s imagined geography , it is first crucial
to have a full understanding of what is meant by the term. Imaginative Geography , popularized
by Edward W Said in his work Orientalism (1977), refers to the perceptions of a country created
by others, as depicted through text and images. This may be from an inside or outside perspective,
both of which will be discussed in this essay. Other areas to be explored include the change in
attitudes towards Spainover the two centuries, the role of travel writers in portraying this image of
Spain and the importance of the historical background and political system in governing the country
and thus dictating its position within Europe s imagined geography . During the eighteenth century,
Spain was deemed a nation ceasing to thrive. Whilst Enlightenment thought began to develop
throughout Europe, Spain remained faithful to its traditional values, and Catholicism continued to
be rooted in its culture. In this way, the country was often portrayed as being distant, if not entirely
separate, from the rest of Europe. Foreign philosophers at that time, particularly from France,
criticized Spain and its unwillingness to embrace change , using it as an example of the anti model
of all that was truly European and desirable. Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu
(1689 1755), a French Enlightenment Thinker, described Spain as a backward country whose
downfall resulted from the

Scotland s climate is actually quite temperate. Distinguished by the Highland Boundary Fault, the

Traditional dishes such as haggis, mince and tatties, and arbroath smokies indicate this. Mutton,
beef, and fish have been so popular in Scottish cuisine throughout time simply because they are
the most readily available ingredients. Dairy products are also widely used. These are provided
by the heavy grazing aspect of their agriculture industry, and their proximity to the ocean.
Because of this, mutton, beef, and fish are the main sources of protein in Scotland. Also, lipids
are most commonly received through the consumption of fish oil or dairy products such as milk.
Products such as oats, barley, and root vegetables, mostly potatoes, are also extremely common in
the Scottish diet, for the fertile lowlands and temperate climate provide perfect growing
conditions for such foods. This means that carbohydrates are mostly provided by potatoes and oat
and barley products such as cereal. However, in a health survey conducted in 2014, it was found
that only one in five Scottish adults met the daily recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables.
This suggests that while Scots are well provided with protein, lipids, and carbs, their diets may be
seriously lacking in vital nutrients provided by fruits and vegetables, such as fiber, potassium, and

The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow And Rip Van Winkle
Does the name Washington Irving ring a bell? The author of the immortalized tales, The Legend
of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle. A man who has passed away almost two centuries ago,
and still yet, a man who has paved the way for American literature. Washington Irving was born
in New York, New York on April 3, 1783, and turned to writing once the family s import export
business had failed. Realizing that there would be no more means to support himself financially,
Irving took up his talent and his passion as his profession. Throughout his life, Irving traveled
constantly; from London, England, to Madrid, Spain, as well as the Western prairie frontiers of his
homeland. His most renowned work, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., is a Salmagundi
(the title of another of his books) of essays, short stories, and tales heavily influenced by German
folklore. In this collection, Irving frequently describes abstract ideas and ongoing situations with
the expert use of analogies and metaphors, while expressing the inner heart of his characters with
such vivid intensity that they seem to come alive. In addition, Irving proves himself a Jack of all
trades by providing subtle satire for the amusement of the reader. By exhibiting his prodigious
expertise in these numerous fields of literature, Irving establishes the fact that he is one of the
greatest writers in history. As a reader, the frequency in which Irving artfully describes a situation is
distinguishable from most

Jennifer Lawrence
As a kid, I grew up reading fictional stories; the first book I ever held was the story of Winnie the
Pooh and his friends (a gift from my parents when I got sick), watching and discovering sorts of
characters from animated shows; and that includes imitating Disney Princesses of course, and
many others. So when I was 7, I started wanting to become a successful artist, a writer, or any other
that was connected with the arts and crafts. Why? It started when I was little and flourished when I
entered school.
Now that I am 18, living a life with a purpose of reaching my goals, I wanted something unusual
to experience a situation wherein I have to dedicate myself to it, passionate enough to
accomplish that something. Hopefully, if ever I get a chance to talk to the 7 year old me, we
would have a fun chit chat; how I faced the struggles of my existence, how I build myself up, how
I learned from my mistakes, how to survive when you re on a cliff and many others. Also, maybe

how to fight despite all the betrayal, hardships and treachery she has experienced. It somewhat
promotes feminism in a way that Joy faces all the struggles that life has brought to her by wearing
the most important clothing (if only these are wearable), courage, strength and the never surrender

that the world destroys people, and that destroys dreams. But that didn t end there; she stood up,
fix herself and fight for her rights. And now, Joy has founded a business dynasty and became a

Ernest Hemingway Stereotypes Of Women
When people fall in love, many are innocently drawn into the idea of perfection in relationships
without believing any catastrophic events will occur. Society believes that love can conquer any
limitations in life, but Ernest Hemingway s novels, A Farewell to Arms and For Whom the Bell
Tolls, defeat these stereotypes. Ernest Hemingways characters are depicted as strong featured, harsh
men who experience death and tragedy willingly. In A Farewell to Arms
and For Whom the Bell
Tolls, Hemingway expands on his male characters personalities. In his novels, he has created
these men with an outward façade to hide their emotional turmoil within. He depicts his
stereotypical, macho men as protagonists who have suffered great loss. His men have suffered
and endured violence, death and sadness. Specifically, the protagonists have been exposed to
war and tragedy. Conversely, the women have suffered and experienced sadness as well; such as
rape, and murder of their family members. Hemmingway s women are portrayed as unstable
women who find a safe haven in seemingly strong men, but their relationships are far from a safe
haven . These two timeless novels follow the lives of women and men who have been exposed to
unimaginable violence and tragedy. For example, Catherine, Maria, and Pilar whose experiences in
tragedy and suffering allow them to connect with their men, who have also experienced a mutual
tragedy.
One of the characters, Catherine Barkley, has faced immense tragedy.

Punishment In The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages, there were different kinds of punishments that were used as a solution to
crimes that were being committed from theft to adultery. The three main types of punishment used
in the medieval times, were trial by ordeal, trial by jury and trial by combat. Some of these
punishments were unfair because sometimes, the accused wouldn t get punished, but the innocent
would. The most injustice punishment would be trial by ordeal.
A form of punishment during the middle ages was often a trial by ordeal. Trial by ordeal was a
method where the accused was given a rather brutal, and often deadly test to determine if they
were found innocent or guilty. Trial by ordeal, in my opinion was an unjustified way of deciding
guilt. For example, if someone was accused of doing witchcraft, they would be burned at the
stake. If the person miraculously survived, he or she would be found guilty and was to be
executed. But, if he or she burnt to death, the person would then be proven as innocent and
subjected to a proper burial. This is where the illogic of trial by ordeal comes in. Either way, this is

Before Charlemagne became king, the Frankish court system used a system called trial by ordeal.
An example of trial by ordeal would be if a peasant was accused for a crime, they would have to
hold a red, hot metal rod and walk around. They would then get their hand bandaged and if after
three days, your wounds weren t healed, you were guilty of the crime. Charlemagne didn t like
that system. He thought it unfair to expect a miracle to occur to prove your innocence. So
Charlemagne created a new system called trial by jury. Under this system, a group of learned men
would listen to the testimony and look at the evidence and then pronounce guilt or innocence. I
personally think trial by jury was the fairest of all the punishments, as it wouldn t involve illogical
ordeals and combats to determine who would win the

Summary Of Girl By Jamacia Kincaid
When a text is first being dissected it is important to walk in to the situation prepared. To be
prepared you must go into the situation equipped with your own interpretation as to what
constitutes literature. The definition of literature isn t very concise. Like art the definition of
literature can vary from one individual to another and before studying these subjects the audience
should establish their own definition so that they can look for themes and symbols in the piece. In
my opinion I believe that literature should be defined as any fictitious work that implements
symbols, and other literary devices, to convey different themes and messages below the surface of
the text. With this interpretation of literature I think that its purpose is to give the audience insight
into the lives of others and make statements about our society. When readers study literature in this
manner they are able to view our society from an outside perspective and... Show more content on

This story follows the story of a daughter whose mother is worried that she is currently on the path
to promiscuity. Throughout the story the mother encourages her daughter to change her ways so
that she will grow up to be a respectable woman, rather than becoming as her mother says, the slut
that you are bent on becoming, (Kincaid 23). In this piece of literature the mother versus the
whore dichotomy is very prevalent. In this text the mother is very adamant about teaching her
daughter how to be the mother character rather than the whore by teaching her the etiquette and
the social graces that come along with being a homemaker. ...always eat your food in such a way
that it won t turn someone else s stomach; on Sunday s try to walk like a lady and not like the slut

Historical and Ongoing Construction of Aboriginal Women in Canada as a Problem Population
In August of 2014, Tina Fontaine, a 15 year old from the Sagkeeng First Nation in Winnipeg, was
murdered. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper s response was not to regard it as a
sociological phenomenon but as a crime against an individual that should be investigated (Canadian
Press, 2014). Harper is virtually alone in this. Those demanding an inquiry and the treatment of this
singular murder as part of the larger concern of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a variety of theories that are useful in understanding this issue. The theories that will be
used here to explain the state of murdered and missing women in Canada and Harper s response to
it are societal reaction perspective and Spitzer s Marxian theory of deviance.
In order to understand the constructed identity of Aboriginal women in Canada today and in the
past, it is necessary to discuss ideas of empire, including Manifest Destiny and Terra Nullius.
These European concepts were and generally still form the ideology operating in Canada.
Expansion of the ruling class empire is taken for granted and divinely supported. This is the basis
for European exploration of the globe, claiming of already occupied lands and colonization of
existing peoples. Manifest Destiny was the 19th Century settler belief that it was their destiny to
expand throughout North America. Terra Nullius is the concept that land determined to be empty,
in other words not being used productively by a civilized people, could be occupied by those
Europeans who found it. Of course, both of these concepts belong to the ideology of European
empire expansion which indisputably devalued the existing Aboriginal communities. The French
and English settlers pushed their Christian beliefs onto Aboriginal peoples and succeeded in
altering Aboriginal communities from their matrilineal nature into

Analysis Of Willy Loman In Arthur Miller s Death Of A...
In the tragic play, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, Miller shows the dark side of those
living in America who strive for success. The play follows a 63 year old struggling salesman
living in the late 1940 s by the name of Willy Loman. Willy aspires to be wealthy and known by
living out the American Dream so he could support himself and his family. However, Willy, being
the tragic hero, ultimately fails in completing any of his goals. The suffering brought upon by
Willy Loman and his obsession with the American Dream contributes to the tragic vision of the
play as a whole because Willy was destined to fail at the get go, his vision of the American Dream
conceals reality, and Willy s beliefs that he holds dear are false. In Death of a Salesmanby Arthur
Miller, the protagonist and tragic hero, Willy, was destined to be unsuccessful at the get go. In
the play, it is revealed that Willy is skilled with his hands. However, Willy remains a salesman,
and never pursues a more hands on job. In the requiem, after Linda explains that Willy was
wonderful with his hands, Biff claims, He had the wrong dreams. All, all wrong, (Miller 138).
Biff means that Willy was going to inevitably fail as a salesman because Willy sought prosperity
with a job that didn t match his specialty. This statement also hints that if Willy had a hands on job,
maybe he could have been successful in life. Also, Willy s stubbornness supports the fact that Willy
was bound to fail. Whenever an opportunity

precipitate was formed in Step 6 of the experiment, it was confirmed that there was no presence

After a metal salt is added to a hot flame, it shifts from the excited state to its ground state,

multiple cations are present, the results can be altered. The result of an impure solution can cause
the mixing of emitted wavelengths and colors. Alternatively, one cation can potentially conceal the
identity of the others.3 If this experiment were to have been repeated, micropipettes would be used
instead of the standard pipettes to increase the accuracy when withdrawing fluids. This would
substantially decrease the degree of errors due to incorrect measurements. Additionally, the
centrifuges would be replaced with new machines since the previous centrifuges caused a few test
tubes to break, even though the solutions had been evenly balanced by weight. More caution may
also be needed when balancing the centrifuges to prevent future

Example Of Behavior Modification
The behavior that I will be choosing to modify is the increase in studying. This is a behavior that
is extremely beneficial to me because I not only learn what I need to know, but I learn how
manage time better and how to set my priorities better. Studying is something I need to modify
because studying to me is something that is difficult to do, mainly because I feel it is like a
chore more than anything else. My mindset on studying is my biggest issue and is the biggest
reason studying is a behavior modification I need to increase. The most I want to study a day is
at least two hours for at least two classes, so a total of four hours a day of studying. Most of the
time when I study, I get sidetracked easily and end up using up time on something else rather than
studying. The antecedent of this behavior may be the problem, because I am not putting myself in
an environment where I can study the best or potentially learn the best. The consequence of that is
that I end up not studying affectively enough for my classes and not doing as good as I would
have liked to.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Lost World By Sir Conan Doyle

beasts are found in the Earth below. But what if somewhere on the planet was a place where

March day when I turned on the news and heard something that was very interesting. ...and it
appears that this is apart of some new species of lizard. This was found by a local scientist on the
beaches of Venezuela. This creature has the appearance of a lizard, but it almost reminds you of
a bird. There is no conclusive evidence on where this animal was from. Interesting, I said to
myself. This whole situation sounded somewhat familiar, it sounded like a book I read, but it
was impossible. To give myself some peace of mind, I go to my bookshelf and pull out Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle s, The Lost World. I skim through some of the book and I gasped when it
said something about Venezuela. This couldn t be real, I said to myself. I find my cell phone on
my couch and quick call my paleontologist friend and colleague Dr. Stark. I ask if he had seen the
news footage of the new animal and he said, I have been looking into this for a while now(The
animals in Venezuela), and I actually have a team going there to investigate an island we found
that would geographically match were the new animal came from. I was about to call you before

  • 2. Indonesia Needs Sex Education in Order to Combat Unwanted... A. Reproductive health services have and currently do struggle against obstacles including religious beliefs, governmental policies, educational shortcomings, and governmental financial circumstances. With the increase in reproductive health medicine and technology, an increase for the global standard of living, and women s rights movements worldwide, global access to reproductive health services is becoming more and more of a priority. Topics such as abortion and form of contraception are highly debated. Indonesia is the world s most populous Muslim majority nation, with almost 86.1% of Indonesians declared Muslim according to the 2000 census. 8.7% of the population is Christian, 3% are Hindu, and 1.8% Buddhist or other ( Demographics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will help prevent infant fatalities, infant malnourishment, and maternal fatality during birth. C. Indonesia s proposition to achieve these goals and to provide global access to reproductive health services is quite simple. The committee should make a resolution which requires governments to create and fund a board which is given the task to provide the citizens of the country (ranging from youths to young adults to adults to the elderly) with adequate education in relation to sexual intercourse and the consequences of intercourse and all other sex related issues. The board would also provide various contraceptives for either free (funds permitting) or as discounted as possible. The board would have to provide various contraceptives in order to meet the standards of the individual receiving the contraception s religious beliefs. This would help significantly reduce sexual related problems seen in today s world, such as abortion, STDs, and unwanted pregnancy. Topic #2 A. It is easy for large countries with powerful governments to abuse their rights to eminent domain when given the task of hosting a mega event such as the Olympic Games or FIFA World Cup . In the past countries have abused this right and found ways around the current international laws that protect the property rights of the people of the nation. The countries have not provided equal compensation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Are Hector And Achilles Alike Achilles and Hector are similar in a few ways but are different in many more. Both men are renowned warriors and some of the best fighters for their sides. And unfortunately, both men are fated to die. Both men are human, although only barely in Achilles s case, who can only be wounded if hit in a small spot on his heel. But despite these few similarities, Achillesand Hectorare more different than they are alike. Achilles let s himself be ruled by his emotions while Hector has a more steady and calm temperament. Hector has a wife and a son and is capable of showing love towards others, Achilles on the other hand only speaks to his mother when he needs something: revenge, or armor. One drastic difference between the two men is an unfortunate character flaw that Achilles portrays constantly: anger. In fact the first sentence of the Iliadclearly states that it is the story of Achilles s anger. Sing, goddess, the anger of Peleus son Achilles and it s devastation. (I, 1 2) Throughout the story you continuously see the products of his rage. He refuses to fight for Agamemnon because of the stealing of Breisis, and instead invokes the power of Zeus so that the Greeks will lose against the Trojans until his (Achilles s) honor has been restored. If perhaps he (Zeus) might be willing to help the Trojans, and pin the Achaians against the ships and the water, dying, so that thus they may all have profit of their own king, that Atreus son wide ruling Agamemnon may recognize ... Aphrodite, the goddess of love, fertility, and beauty, is an influence of a moral lesson in today s society and caused an act of destruction. In Greek mythology the Greek goddess Aphrodite has many myths and stories impacting today s life. She was the goddess of love, fertility, and beauty. Many myths claim that she was an irresistible, beautiful, loving goddess. Homer has said that she was the child of Zeus and Dione born in Illiad. In Illiad she was a weak creature that no mortal was in fear of. Hesoid says Aphrodite rose from foam in the sea where Kronois had cut off Uranus genitals. But when more people began to pay attention to Psyche Aphrodite got very jealous. So Aphrodite got one of her sons Eros, also known as Cupid, to go and strike her with her arrow to make her fall in love with an ugly mean creature. When Eros laid eyes on her he immediately fell in love and sent her to a castle in a land far away. Psyche thought he was and evil monster because he kept his identity hidden from Psyche until one night when she saw his face. She was going to kill him and try and escape but when she turned on the light she saw his true identity and instantly fell in love. In fear Eros flew off and Psyche began searching for him everywhere. She went everywhere until she decided to ask Aphrodite for help. Although Aphrodite gave her very hard tasks to complete, such as having to go far into the sea and almost everywhere, before she found him she realized something. Aphrodite realized that her son s happiness shouldn t be controlled by her needs(Colombian Encyclopedia). She should let him be happy even if she doesn t like who it s with. The moral lesson Aphrodite influenced today s society with was if a person loves somebody they should let them be happy, even if it impacts their life. There are condition where intentionally the individual forged the illness or cause it to obtain attention, sympathy or emotional feedback. Therefore in Munchausen Disorder they achieve this goal through exaggerating those symptoms, intentionally faking it, than even deliberately creating real symptoms. They created complications as contaminate their own body fluids, injecting themselves bacteria in order to create illness that will then lead to primary emotional gain. • 6. What Is A Four-Distributed Static Compensator This paper deals with a four leg distributed static compensator (DSTATCOM) which is used to solve the current related power quality. An amplitude adaptive notch filter (AANF) is employed for the reference current extraction of DSTATCOM control scheme because of its simplicity, capability of frequency and amplitude measuring, appropriate extraction of the fundamental signal, and insensitivity to the amplitude variation of the input signal. To generate the gate pulses of the switches, an adaptive hysteresis band current controller is used. In addition, fuzzy logic controllers are used for a better performance of DSTATCOM under dynamic conditions. The proposed control algorithm is robust to power disturbances, especially when the main voltage... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, these algorithms generally demonstrate a slow time response. Time domain algorithms are based on the instantaneous extraction of harmonic currents/voltages. The common time domain control strategies are instantaneous reactive power theory (IRPT) [6] and synchronous reference frame theory (SRF) [7]. Calculation of active and reactive powers by transforming three phase voltages and currents into two phases is the principle of PQ theory, which does not work properly under non sinusoidal supply conditions [8]. SRF theory is based on conversion of three phase quantities into their corresponding dc components, and low pass filters (LPFs) are employed for harmonic filtering which contain a time delay and deteriorate the performance of the controller [9]. Most of the advanced control and signal processing methods are accurate and show a better dynamic response than the FFT, but a large amount of calculations is required, which does not demonstrate an excellent performance in frequency varying conditions [10 13]. Adaptive notch filter (ANF) is another advanced algorithm which has been introduced as an effective control technique for extracting reference sinusoidal components from distorted input signal. ANF is capable of changing the notch frequency suitably by tracking the frequency variations of the input signal [14 16]. To the best knowledge of the authors, the modified notch filter in a ... • 7. Frost At Midnight Analysis In a conversation poem titled Frost at Midnight, romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge creates a persona of himself who spends the duration of the poem having a one sided conversation with his newly born baby. The narrator laments his own childhood, but finds solace in knowing that his baby has potential for a better life than he, since the baby will have a nature centered upbringing. The narrator contrasts constricted and expansive imagery, enumerated and enjambed sentences, and alienated and familiar diction to underline the differences between his own childhood education, which was spent studying books, and the childhood education he hopes his baby will have. The narrator suggests that nature will offer his baby a childhood education superior to his own because nature will teach the baby to be one with the world, allowing him to feel peace and serenity no matter the circumstances. In this poem, the narrator opens up with a serene scene of a winter night or so it seems. Although the narrator describes an externally cozy, peaceful scene, he unveils a discordant heart, as suggested by the restless tone he uses. During this silent night, the narrator watches a piece of soot flicker over the fire: Only that film, which fluttered on the grate, / Still flutters there, the sole unquiet thing. Methinks, its motion in this hush of nature / Gives it dim sympathies with me who lives, / Making it a companionable form (15 19). In other words, the narrator associates himself with ... • 9. White Collar Crime And White Collar Crimes White collar crimes have very distinguishing features that convey a different standard than any other set of crimes that are committed within the judicial system. Consequently, these features are what make white collar crimes not only hard to identify that a crime has occurred, but also the cost and extent of the crimes. First white collar crimes are not oblivious to those around them, unlike street crimes where you realize that a crime has been committed. Unlike a murder or burglary, the signs that a crime has been committed are seen quickly. White collar crimes like embezzlement, health care fraud, mortgage fraud may not be uncovered for an extended period if not ever. Thus, knowing the crime has been committed leads to the understanding of the perpetrators of the crime being discovered. Moreover, the alleged perpetrator of the white collar crimehas legitimate access to items involved in the crimes. Within common antisocial behavior those crimes have a perpetrator that can be identified due to the fact a crime was discovered and they don t have a legitimate reason to be somewhere or have access to things. Even with white collar crimes being discovered those who are perpetrating them are harder to identify due to the lapse in discovery and the understand of the complexity of the crimes. With all crimes, there is a victim to be found. However, with white collar crimes this becomes a very complicated issue, unlike ordinary street crimes where are victim is readily ... • 11. Complexity Theory as Applied to Nursing Essay Complexity Theory as Applied to Nursing, 2005 Abstract Many conventional ideas about the world we live in have been shaken to their foundations by the emerging concepts of chaos and complexity. Insights are now being gained from the application of complexity theory into phenomena varying in scale from the natural sciences such as biology to the concept of caring in the nurse patient relationship. These new scientific ideas have significant implications for the theory and practice of nursing. This paper will cover four key concepts from complexity theory that will be introduced as relevance to nursing. These include: unpredictable dynamic systems; the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; fuzzy and permeable boundaries; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If nothing is done, body mass will decline at a steady and predictable rate due to a catabolic metabolism. However, dynamic systems can produce startling variability over short time scales due to their sensitivity to feedback. This variability can make the system appear chaotic and unpredictable, rather like the weather. However, computer analysis of such systems reveals that there is a deeper underlying order within the apparent chaos. There are rules governing the behavior of the system over a short range in space and time, therefore it is referred to as deterministic or predictable chaos. The challenge is to discover the rules and determine how they operate so that we might gain insight into the apparently chaotic behavior before us. Deterministic chaos should be distinguished from unpredictable chaos which refers to random fluctuation or background noise, often distractingly superimposed upon the bigger picture. This is often the case over long ranges and periods of time and cannot be predicted. It is not possible in human experience (Stacey, Douglas, Shaw, 2002). An individual s health behavior is influenced by feedback from his or her actions. Small decisions made today can have major, unforeseen consequences tomorrow. A moment s reflection also reveals that the health care system and nursing has the characteristics of a dynamic system in that what happens today affects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since deciding to attend law school, I have sought a position at a large company where I could utilize my education and work ethic to build a career. Additionally, I have looked for an environment that would allow me to continue to develop both personally and professionally. The client said that he understood but thought that making the claim would be the only way to gain custody of his child. When I explained the other, more ethical options available, he insisted that he continue with the claim. At that point, I informed him that I would have to end my representation and that he would have to seek the assistance of another attorney. Although I was able to terminate the representation without violating any of my ethical obligations, the situation taught me some important lessons that I utilized later in my career. In this case, the requests being made by the client should have been an indication of his overall intention to conduct the divorce in an unnecessarily aggressive manner not conducive to the health of himself and his family. • 13. Role of Bank Capital Introduction The main aim of this report is to identify the key roles played by bank capital in the banking business. This report briefly outlines the main functions of bank capital and takes a brief look at the benefits of bank capital to the bank and the banking industry. It is hoped that from reading this paper a general understanding of the roles of bank capital in the banking business can be gained. Bank Capital A bank s capital also known as equity is the margin by which creditors are covered if the bank s assets were liquidated. A bank must hold enough capital to protect lenders and depositors from losses and also allow the bank to meet its customer requirements. Banks must maintain capital levels equal with the amount of risks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Normally this risk can also be managed easily by hedging interest rate changes by the use of derivative instruments. However unanticipated system wide shocks result in a greater demand for liquidity and are far more difficult to deal with. At such times significant liquidity demands emerge from both a banks asset and the liability side. Refinancing short term debt in the money markets is liability related and off balance sheet exposures can unexpectedly come onto the assets side of the balance sheet. Therefore a bank must be prepared when there is a market wide scramble for liquidity and be able to manage funding challenges and unplanned asset expansions simultaneously by having sufficient bank capital. Promote economic growth A strongly capitalized banking sector also is better able to promote innovation, whether in the form of new products, new services or new distribution channels. Banks do not just hold capital to overcome distress, but also because it provides them with financial flexibility. Banks with a strong capital base can take advantage of growth opportunities. For both bacterial infections, some researchers recommend that to eliminate persistent infections, it should use a laboratory test after the first infection before estimating the number of repeat infections. In contrast, other researchers consider that the infected patient should be asymptomatic for at least two weeks before counting as a new infection. However, the majority of researchers set a number of days after the initial infection to determine the burden of repeat infections (Hillis et al., 1994; Richey et al., 1999; Barnett and Brundage, 2001; Burstein et al., 2001). The most common time frame for consideration as a repeat infection for CT and NG is that diagnosed 30 days or more after the preceding infection. • 15. Abstract. Using A Variety Of Peer-Reviewed Sources, This Abstract Using a variety of peer reviewed sources, this paper will focus on the problems in the United States healthcare system and its relation to children s access to healthcare. Despite efforts, there are several aspects in the current healthcare system that cause children to not have access to healthcare. In other cases the children may be eligible for health insurance but do not have insurance. This paper will analyze the disparities surrounding children s healthcare, the socioeconomic aspects of it, and other factors that cause a lack of access to healthcare. Over the years healthcare has remained an issue in everyday society, especially in getting it so that everyone has access to it. Different people of varying ... As such, the program represents a fine balance, designed to maintain equilibrium between states and the federal government, as well as between political conservatives and liberals. It contains elements of both an entitlement program and a block grant. States have the option of providing child health assistance in SCHIP through Medicaid, a separate program, or a combination of the two. There is also flexibility in benefit design, though benefits must meet certain set standards. As in Medicaid, state payments for child health assistance under SCHIP qualify for federal matching payments. On average, the federal government pays 70 percent and state governments pay 30 percent of program costs. Unlike Medicaid, however, these enhanced federal matching payments are limited by national and state specific allotments, or annual limits on federal funding. SCHIP has a system to redistribute federal allotments from states that did not spend the full amount to others that may need higher amounts. States may use up to 10 percent of their annual allotments on outreach, administration, and other activities. A federally funded evaluation found SCHIP to be successful in nearly all of the areas examined. Since inception in 1997, enrollment has increased steadily to 6.1 million children in FY 2005. • 16. Descartes Discourse On Method Summary The mythical phoenix is born in the ashes of its mother once she has been consumed in flame, becoming stronger than she ever was. In Discourse on Method, Descartes hopes to destroy the conventional understanding of philosophy that has been followed throughout the ages, and in doing so establish his own philosophy as the new convention in the ashes of the old philosophy. In this paper, I will present Descartes findings of instability in philosophy and distaste for the way people learn as his motivation for undertaking this reconstruction of his thoughts, finding a firm and lasting basis for the sciences as his end goal for the reconstruction, and his rules for conducting thoughtand code of doubt as the way by which he hopes to achieve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Descartes takes this idea and applies it to book learning, and he concludes that book learning is composed and enlarged little by little from the opinions of many different persons. However, he believes that book learning does not draw nearly as close to the truth as the simple reasonings that a man of good sense can naturally make about the things he encounters. Descartes believes that one should trust in their reason rather than in their knowledge which has been collected from the opinions of others. Secondly, Descartes, by embarking on this reconstruction of his thoughts, hopes to find a stable basis for the sciences. Since Descartes was trained as a mathematician, he likes to find proofs for ideas, so that he can know them with absolute certainty. Initially, he believes philosophy to be the basis for the sciences insofar as they [the sciences] borrow their principles from philosophy. However, he concludes that philosophy cannot be the basis for the sciences, saying, one could not have built anything upon such unstable foundations. Now, he has to find a stronger foundation for the sciences and it is only through the reconstruction of his thought that he is able to do this. Lastly, Descartes uses two methods to carry out the reconstruction of his thoughts. The first method is his four rules for conducting thought, which will characterize the way that he will look at the world during this period of reconstruction. The first rule is ... It may seem as though this is an enormous amount but when it is compared to the cover ups and other money used from us taxpayers, then the amount is minimal. Cahill also states, In reality, the average monthly benefit paid out to SNAP recipients is a paltry $133 per person. TANF benefits averaged out to just $392 per household in 2010. And again, these benefits are only available for 5 years throughout a person s lifetime. That isn t exactly enough to break the budget of the largest economy in the world. He also explains what the bigger portion of the tax money is used for when he says, American taxpayers spend $1.5 trillion each year on welfare.., the fossil fuel industry, too big to fail banks, performance based bonuses for corporate CEOs, corporate jets, and other superfluous programs that run on the taxpayer dime. When thinking about infrastructure, a physical operation such as freeways and transportation comes to mind; however, infrastructures are not limited to such restrictions. An infrastructure is a system that combines its physical form with symbolism. Infrastructures demonstrate the relationship from the past and future, affect people s lives, and have a deeper meaning underneath the physical surface. This can be better understood from the reading InfrastructureToolbox and noticed in the film Lunchbox. One s culture is highly influenced by the past. It creates and explains their tradition while ultimately determining what the future holds. For instance, food plays a crucial role in culture especially for the people of Bombay/Mumbai; which is where the film Lunchbox takes placed. The film focuses on a delivering system that acts as an infrastructure. This system is made up of people delivering home cooked meals and meals from restaurants at the consumer s job for their lunch. One major reason why the people of Mumbai utilizes this system is to maintain their tradition of having warm home cooked meals despite them being at work. This displays the importance of family to them. The food symbolizes the feeling of being connected and together despite the distance. Organizational Leadership Paper Organizational Leadership Description of Organizational Leadership Organizational leadership is a twofold management style that works towards what is best for employees/ people and what is greatest for the company or group as a whole at the same time. It is also a mind set and a work ethic that empowers an individual in any role to lead from the top, middle, or bottom of an organization (Technologies, 2017). Key Factors During my research for this paper I learned that there are five key Factors of organizational leadership which are, Worldview, Strength, communication, ethics and leadership. Worldview is a complex image created from the different ways which people view the world. It is not focused on identity, political stance, or religious viewpoints, although it does include these (Technologies, 2017). This compiles everything a person thinks about the world, joining together the real and the indefinable. Worldview can be described by attitudes, opinions, beliefs, and ideas that influence people. Additionally, organizational leadership requires an understanding of the combined worldview of the organization, which consists of the many various and sometimes conflicting worldviews of the people within that organization (Technologies, 2017). A great leader is someone who can see the strength in others and themselves and use those strengths to their advantage, and at the same time work around weaknesses. Although everyone has their own opinion, this generation does not take other people s opinions into perspective. There are very few leaders who are setting examples for their peers. They are constantly bashing their objectors for not having the same opinions and ideas that they think are competent. This causes this generation to self censor themselves because they do not want to receive negative backlash on their opinions and ideas. Self censorshipis exercising control over what one has to say and how he or she may act in order to avoid castigation (English Oxford Living Dictionaries). It also obstructs creativity and prevents individuals from forming their own opinions and ideas. Self censorship prevents this generation from exploring the depths of creativity and forces people to hold back opinions that may be bottled up on the inside. It can affect everyone. Adults often have business ideas that they think can impact our younger generation and that generation to come, but because of the fear of co workers disagreeing with them, they may contradict their original thought. This precludes their talents from advancing on to the next level of success (OxBow School). • 34. Figurative Language In Casey At Bat Written by Ernest Lawrence Thayer in 1887, Casey at Bat is a narrative American poem and story, telling of a baseball s game s final half inning between the home team Mudville, and another team. The poem has a main character named Mighty Casey, the team s star hitter. Ultimately, Casey loses the game for his Mudville team at the end of the poem because he strikes out. Casey at the Bat s theme is baseball with its tone being both exciting and suspenseful. Its tone also begins calmly, getting eager towards the middle, and then disappointing at the end. The purpose of this paper is to identify three figurative languages used throughout the poem. The three figurative languages that will be defined is metaphor, personification, and hyperbole. Metaphor Metaphors are considered to be one of the most important forms of figurative languages used in everyday speech, prose, fiction, and poetry. According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, a metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase that ordinarily designates one thing is used to designate another, thus making an implicit comparison (Van Engen, 2008). Metaphors are used to enhance imagination of the reader when reading stories and poems. Metaphors make imaginative comparisons between two completely different objects; one object said to be another. For instance, in the poem Casey at the Bat, the author uses a metaphor to compare players to objects by stating the players are those actual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Challenging Lutgendorf s Ideas within his Article through... Intro: The discourse of film is a questionable field of study in its own respect. To say whether a film is influence or not by another medium is a problematic area as there are many factors to account for which can influence an artist s project. In Philip Lutgendorf s article, Is There An Indian Way of Filmmaking? (2006), he attempts to suggest how texts from the Indian cultural heritage could be used for the discourse of both Indian cinema as well as to the study of cinema itself, which justifies discussion. This essay will attempt to challenge Lutgendorf s ideas within his article through Hayao Miyazakis film, Spirited Away(2001) through the discussion of manga /animae origin, Japanese mythology, and genre hybridity. Plot Summary: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Manga literally translates to informal drawings or impromptu sketches , and are the Japanese equivalent to comic books. New Treasure Island featured many western influences such as the use of big eyes, which is noticeable in Walt Disney s work. Ultimately, Tezuka laid the foundations for modern manga. Because of manga s large popularity, it went onto the filmic medium known as animae. Like manga and its early development, animae has had help in its creative development. The large sum of aid in the growth of animae was western influences in cartooning, such as Walt Disney, as well as literature from works from Lewis Carroll s Alice in Wonderland (1865) and L. Frank Baum s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900). Spirited Away contains influences of both Alice in Wonderland as well as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz since both Chihiro, Dorothy, and Alice are lost in a fantastical world which they know nothing about, and face a female power hungry antagonist who attempts to stop their desire to go back home. Para. 1: Referring back to the origins of manga and animae, these art forms were created to repress the American influence over Japan through the revival of traditional Japanese art practices such as woodblock paintings, and jojЕЌ ga literally translated to sentimental , or lyrical painting , which was created by Yumeji Takehisa (1884 1934), and often depicted portrait paintings of Japanese women. SOX requires that these public companies apply both accounting oversight and stringent internal controls. The desired results include more transparency, accountability, and truthfulness in reporting transactions . (Wild, 2015, pg. 12). The Sarbanes Oxley Act is considered the most important piece of security legislation since the formation of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 1934. It requires the managers and auditors of companies, whose stock is traded on an exchange to document and certify the system of internal controls. • 37. Role Of Geography In European Geography Before examining Spain and her position within Europe s imagined geography , it is first crucial to have a full understanding of what is meant by the term. Imaginative Geography , popularized by Edward W Said in his work Orientalism (1977), refers to the perceptions of a country created by others, as depicted through text and images. This may be from an inside or outside perspective, both of which will be discussed in this essay. Other areas to be explored include the change in attitudes towards Spainover the two centuries, the role of travel writers in portraying this image of Spain and the importance of the historical background and political system in governing the country and thus dictating its position within Europe s imagined geography . During the eighteenth century, Spain was deemed a nation ceasing to thrive. Whilst Enlightenment thought began to develop throughout Europe, Spain remained faithful to its traditional values, and Catholicism continued to be rooted in its culture. In this way, the country was often portrayed as being distant, if not entirely separate, from the rest of Europe. Foreign philosophers at that time, particularly from France, criticized Spain and its unwillingness to embrace change , using it as an example of the anti model of all that was truly European and desirable. Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu (1689 1755), a French Enlightenment Thinker, described Spain as a backward country whose downfall resulted from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It comprises the northern third of Great Britain and the 790 islands surrounding it. Despite its high latitude, Scotland s climate is actually quite temperate. Distinguished by the Highland Boundary Fault, the topography is split into two distinctive regions; the Highlands and the lowlands. The Highlands, located in the north and west of Scotland, are characterized by a more mountainous terrain that is difficult to cultivate. In contrast, the lowlands, located in the south and east, are flatter, more fertile, and are home to most of Scotland s population. Traditional dishes such as haggis, mince and tatties, and arbroath smokies indicate this. Mutton, beef, and fish have been so popular in Scottish cuisine throughout time simply because they are the most readily available ingredients. Dairy products are also widely used. These are provided by the heavy grazing aspect of their agriculture industry, and their proximity to the ocean. Because of this, mutton, beef, and fish are the main sources of protein in Scotland. Also, lipids are most commonly received through the consumption of fish oil or dairy products such as milk. Products such as oats, barley, and root vegetables, mostly potatoes, are also extremely common in the Scottish diet, for the fertile lowlands and temperate climate provide perfect growing conditions for such foods. This means that carbohydrates are mostly provided by potatoes and oat and barley products such as cereal. However, in a health survey conducted in 2014, it was found that only one in five Scottish adults met the daily recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables. This suggests that while Scots are well provided with protein, lipids, and carbs, their diets may be seriously lacking in vital nutrients provided by fruits and vegetables, such as fiber, potassium, and vitamin ... A man who has passed away almost two centuries ago, and still yet, a man who has paved the way for American literature. Washington Irving was born in New York, New York on April 3, 1783, and turned to writing once the family s import export business had failed. Realizing that there would be no more means to support himself financially, Irving took up his talent and his passion as his profession. Throughout his life, Irving traveled constantly; from London, England, to Madrid, Spain, as well as the Western prairie frontiers of his homeland. His most renowned work, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., is a Salmagundi (the title of another of his books) of essays, short stories, and tales heavily influenced by German folklore. In this collection, Irving frequently describes abstract ideas and ongoing situations with the expert use of analogies and metaphors, while expressing the inner heart of his characters with such vivid intensity that they seem to come alive. In addition, Irving proves himself a Jack of all trades by providing subtle satire for the amusement of the reader. By exhibiting his prodigious expertise in these numerous fields of literature, Irving establishes the fact that he is one of the greatest writers in history. Society believes that love can conquer any limitations in life, but Ernest Hemingway s novels, A Farewell to Arms and For Whom the Bell Tolls, defeat these stereotypes. Ernest Hemingways characters are depicted as strong featured, harsh men who experience death and tragedy willingly. In A Farewell to Arms and For Whom the Bell Tolls, Hemingway expands on his male characters personalities. In his novels, he has created these men with an outward faГ§ade to hide their emotional turmoil within. He depicts his stereotypical, macho men as protagonists who have suffered great loss. His men have suffered and endured violence, death and sadness. Specifically, the protagonists have been exposed to war and tragedy. Conversely, the women have suffered and experienced sadness as well; such as rape, and murder of their family members. Hemmingway s women are portrayed as unstable women who find a safe haven in seemingly strong men, but their relationships are far from a safe haven . These two timeless novels follow the lives of women and men who have been exposed to unimaginable violence and tragedy. • 43. Punishment In The Middle Ages During the Middle Ages, there were different kinds of punishments that were used as a solution to crimes that were being committed from theft to adultery. The three main types of punishment used in the medieval times, were trial by ordeal, trial by jury and trial by combat. Some of these punishments were unfair because sometimes, the accused wouldn t get punished, but the innocent would. The most injustice punishment would be trial by ordeal. A form of punishment during the middle ages was often a trial by ordeal. Trial by ordeal was a method where the accused was given a rather brutal, and often deadly test to determine if they were found innocent or guilty. Trial by ordeal, in my opinion was an unjustified way of deciding guilt. For example, if someone was accused of doing witchcraft, they would be burned at the stake. If the person miraculously survived, he or she would be found guilty and was to be executed. But, if he or she burnt to death, the person would then be proven as innocent and subjected to a proper burial. This is where the illogic of trial by ordeal comes in. Either way, this is ... An example of trial by ordeal would be if a peasant was accused for a crime, they would have to hold a red, hot metal rod and walk around. They would then get their hand bandaged and if after three days, your wounds weren t healed, you were guilty of the crime. Charlemagne didn t like that system. He thought it unfair to expect a miracle to occur to prove your innocence. So Charlemagne created a new system called trial by jury. Under this system, a group of learned men would listen to the testimony and look at the evidence and then pronounce guilt or innocence. I personally think trial by jury was the fairest of all the punishments, as it wouldn t involve illogical ordeals and combats to determine who would win the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To be prepared you must go into the situation equipped with your own interpretation as to what constitutes literature. The definition of literature isn t very concise. Like art the definition of literature can vary from one individual to another and before studying these subjects the audience should establish their own definition so that they can look for themes and symbols in the piece. In my opinion I believe that literature should be defined as any fictitious work that implements symbols, and other literary devices, to convey different themes and messages below the surface of the text. With this interpretation of literature I think that its purpose is to give the audience insight into the lives of others and make statements about our society. When readers study literature in this manner they are able to view our society from an outside perspective and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
