Social Anxiety Disorder ( Sad )
Social Anxiety Disorder Affecting One s Life Social anxiety disorder (SAD), also known as social
phobia, is the most common mental illness in the United States. About 40 million people suffer from
this mental disorder. Many tend to confuse this disorder with shyness and nervousness, which are not
considered a part of the phobia. Having a SAD can interfere with one s daily life cycle. People who
have SAD often starts to develop this illness during their childhood and adolescence years. Patients
are affected with this mental illness for many years before being diagnosed. Past experiences in a
person s childhood can form and shape their lives so that they may end up having social anxiety
disorder. Some past experiences like bullying, depression and low self esteem can lead to the fear of
socially interacting or communicating with other people. There are many cases of bullying that cause
people to grow this disorder. Bullying is one of the main causes of Social Anxiety Disorder. The
different types of bullying all have a different effect in the disorder, such as verbal, cyber, and physical
bullying all have different causes. Verbal bullying can cause people to start to think wrongly of
themselves. They also start to believe that the things that the people are saying could possibly be true.
This intertwines with the cyber portion of the bullying. Cyber bullying also causes people to think that
the things people are electronically saying are true. Also, just as verbal bullying,

The Caribbean Slavery
Growing up in New York City, each year students are taught about the slavery that took place on
American soil. As a student, we put so much emphasis on slavery in America that it is almost easy to
forget that slavery existed outside of the United States. The reality is that slavery was common all over
the world at some point in time. Take for example, the slavery in the Caribbean was just as severe as
slavery in the U.S. Slaves in the Caribbean faced the similar challenges and adversities to the slaves in
America. Often times slaves resisted their oppressors, most famously was the Haitian Revolution,
which had a powerful historical impact. Many Caribbean slaves lost their lives by trying to become
free, and many of them live today to tell us all about what had happened.
The slave societies were similar in every Caribbean island just happened in different centuries.
According to (Gab Heuman), Barbados sugar revolution of the seventeenth century did not vary
dramatically from what happened in Jamaica and Saint Domingue in the eighteenth century and Cuba
and Puerto Rico in the nineteenth. The only thing that was different amongst these countries was the
technology that was being used. Like in Cuba in the nineteenth century, for example, they had more
advanced equipment s than some enslaved had throughout the seventeenth century. However, each
enslaves in the Caribbean sugar plantation faced the same treatment no matter what century they were
in. The sugar plantation was

Guinea Pig Lab Report
Introduction: Though guinea pigs are used in experiments and to test products they can also be fun
awesome loving pets. If you feed them proper nutrition, give them some time to play and exercise, and
clean up after them, your guinea pig will be happy and healthy. Feeding: There are three main ways of
feeding your guinea pig and using the one that is right for your pet can make all the difference in
having a healthy life for your guinea pig. The first main way of feeding your guinea pig is fresh
vegetables, fresh vegetables should make up most of your pets diet, but be careful about leafy
vegetables as too many of these can cause upset a stomach. Veggies that are good for guinea pigs
include celery, carrots, rain drop tomatoes, cucumber, corn, small amounts of spinach and pod peas.
Vegetables to avoid include any vegetable in the cabbage family, iceberg lettuce, rocket salads, red
leaves, broccoli, cauliflower, beet greens, potatoes, and radishes. Guinea pig will require about one
serving of one cup per day, and dividing the veggie into two meals is a good idea since guinea pigs are

Guinea pigs are a very social species and live in groups in the wild. Frequently playing with your
guinea pig each day is important to your guinea pig s happiness, set aside plenty of time to play with
your pet. Consider giving your guinea pigs some floor time each day, let them loose in an enclosed
space, but make sure you are closely watching. You can set up a pen in a room preferably an area with
easy to clean floors in case of accidents, or outside if it isn t too hot or cold. Make sure to have plenty
of space in their exercise area so that they can run and play. Make sure to put a few toys and tunnels in
the play area if possible. You can also use an appropriate sized play ball for them to run and play in,
just don t rely on this as there main play time source. And remember after play time to clean

Ccl4 Induced Fibrosis
Chronic liver diseases is one of main threaten to human health. Many sources can lead to chronic liver
diseases, such as hepatitis virus infection: hepatitis B mainly in East Asia and hepatitis C in North
America, unhealthy lifestyle: excessive drinking and/or obese induced fatty liver disease (Jarčuška et
al., 2010). Most kinds of chronic liver diseases will lead to liver inflammation, hepatocellular
dysfunction, activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and accumulation of extracellular matrix,
which is known as liver fibrosis, then further developed to cirrhosis and even hepatocellular
carcinoma. Liver has the regeneration capability, in chronic liver diseases, hepatic stellate cells
(HSCs) are activated and proliferate abundantly, overexpress collagens and other extracellular matrix
(ECM) fibrillar compounds to replace damaged liver parenchyma, this process is known as liver
fibrosis. The early stage of liver fibrosis is reversible when appropriate antifibrotic therapies are used
and/or causative agents are removed. If not, liver fibrosis will develop to irreversible cirrhosis

CCl4 is metabolised in liver mainly, dehalogenated in hepatocytes through the cytochrome P450
catalysis. The reduction products of CCl4, trichloromethyl radicals, are reactive oxygen species with
strong oxidative potential and enhance stress in liver cell. CCl4 administration causes fatty
degeneration, hepatic lipid peroxidation, plasma membrane disruption, and mitochondrial Calcium
homeostasis chaos (Recknagel et al., 1989). However, the protein composition and function alteration

How the Prophet Muhammad Spread Islam
How the Prophet Muhammad Spread Islam
Prophet Muhammad was the last prophet of Islam, he had made the biggest impact on the religion.
Prophet Muhammad spread the Islamic religion throughout most of the world. He started spreading
the religion after he had received the message from Gabriel, an angel sent from God to the Prophet. At
the age of forty the message of Islam started to spread upon those who were yet to join Islam
(Muhammed, the messenger of God). The prophet did not force others into the religion, people would
believe the prophet from the acts that he did. The way that he did so was done in a very stable way
that did not involve the harming of others, the Prophet had showed equality and gave the people
freedom of speech when he attempted to do so. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) had started
the spreading of Islam at the place of his birth, Mecca. Before the prophet had spread Islam in Mecca,
the main religion in the holy city was idol worshipping .In the beginning, the prophet had had quite a
slow start to spreading the religion. The prophet taught those who lived in Mecca about Islam and had
not spread the word in such a public way because he was ordered not to. He began by preaching those
who were close to him, basically family members. The first believers to join the religion were Khadija
(Prophet s wife) and Ali (Family relative) (Asfaruddin). Convincing the people to join Islam was not
simply by preaching. The prophet simply

Myth Of Anger Essay
Therapists have seen many years of progressive and ever changing rules regarding proper ways to deal
with emotions. These emotions range from happiness to extreme sadness to anger. A very prominent
myth that almost everyone has heard is It s better to express anger to others than to hold it in
(Lilienfeld 147). For clarity s sake, Scott Lilienfeld, Steven Lynn, John Ruscio, and Barry Beyerstein
intended this to mean that violently expressing anger is worse. Anger is a very delicate and strong
emotion that has a very strong influence over millions of people. As discussed in 50 Great Myths of
Popular Psychology, aggressively displaying anger has shown to be worse than channeling it in a
constructive and calm manner. Many people continue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People take the word of broadcasters as gospel, no longer seeking the help of professionals. There are
plenty of explosive characters in movies and shows, and people find a way to relate with them. They
believe that by blowing up over their anger will result similarly to the falsity portrayed by television.
Lastly, Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc Reasoning is a major factor in why people believe that
aggressively displaying anger is useful. People often mistakenly attribute the fact that they feel better
after they express anger to catharsis, rather than to the fact that anger usually subsides on its own after
a while. (Lilienfeld 151) This quote from 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology accurately captures
the misconception that is commonly faced with this myth. Correlation does not equal causation, and
this is something that people often forget. If people knew that this fact was actually a myth, it could
save relationships, marriages, families, and lives. Dealing with anger in a level headed manner is
crucial to developing a better sense of control over said anger issue. There have been many studies
conducted to evaluate anger management; Art Markman PhD. analyzed a social experiment that
placed people in situations that would anger them and then allowed half to punch something and the
other half to do nothing. The results are as

Dorothy Allison s Panacea
In Dorothy Allison s essay, Panacea, she effectively conveys the importance of preparing a gravy,
which ensures the dominant impression of safety and comfort necessary for mothers to display to their
children. Dorothy Allison, well known author and essayist, begins her essay by discussing how she
remembers her mother s gravy and the process of making it, including the pounding of the meat in
order to flatten it out. She adds pathos by saying gravy is the most memory laden dish she has learned
how to cook and the comfort it brings. Instead of calling it country fried steak as others normally do,
Allison s mother calls the savory dish cube steak, a more underprivileged name. Allison says, It was

Narration, Metaphors, Images and Symbols in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
In 1962, when One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest (the Nest), was published, America was at the start
of decade that would be characterized by turmoil. Involvement in Vietnam was increasing, civil rights
marches were taking place in the south and a new era of sexual promiscuity and drug use was about to
come into full swing. Young Americans formed a subgroup in American society that historians termed
the counterculture . The Nest is a product of time when it was written. It is anti authoritarian and tells
the tale of a man s rebelling against the establishment. Kesey used metaphor to make a social
commentary on the America of the sixties. In this paper I will ... Show more content on

It is with this paranoid rambling that the reader meets Bromden. As the first chapter progresses we
witness more instances of his troubled mind and his way of describing people as part machine, part
human. Nurse Ratched is the called the Big Nurse, by Bromden. His description of her is an example
of his ability to link people with machines. She slides through the door with a gust of cold...(the) tip of
each finger the same color as her lips. Funny orange. Like the tip of a soldering iron. Color so hot or
so cold if she touches you with it you can t tell which. (Pg. 4 Kesey). She has the ability, in Bromden s
mind, to increase her size. She, blows up bigger and bigger, big as a tractor, so big you can smell the
machinery inside the way you smell a motor pulling too big a load. (Pg 5 Kesey). These descriptions
of humans who are made part machine, part human allow the reader to get a clearer understanding of
Bromden s illness. This, I believe, is a positive aspect of the novel, however there would seem to be,
at least one, negative aspect to Kesey s choice of narrators.
This choice of narrators for Kesey, in my opinion, may be considered troublesome. He seems to ask
the reader to trust the voice of a madman. This seems to do anything but create a narrator who is
trustworthy. Upon rereading the Nest, I found myself doubting the narrator because he seems to be
inconsistent. In the first section of the

My Memories Of My Memory Essay
Going through my memory bank to remember something I learned, which seems so long ago, has
made me laugh because roller skating pops right into my head. Out of all things to remember that was
my worst and most exciting learning experience. I could not even tell you how old I was. I would
guess between five and eight years old. I remember getting a big brown box and in that box was a pair
of roller skates. I remember being so happy because I going to roller skate with all the other kids in the
apartment complex, so I thought.
Playing with the other kids was not hard to do, but skating was difficult thing to learn. Once I put
those skates on, I could not stand upright. I would fall forward on my knees or backwards on my
backside. I remember my arms flying all over the place. A couple of kids grabbed my hands to help
me, so I would not fall, but I still fell down. After some time, I learned to master standing completely
still and only being able to move my head from left to right. I managed to scoot and hold on to the
walls to get around, but when I let go to move on my own, I just landed on the ground. Each time I
tried to use my foot to push, I would just tip over. I must have looked like a tree falling over each time.
I was unable to keep up with my friends, which meant I had many tantrums. I stood there hurt because
I had fallen so many times that I had cut up my knees and hands and at that moment, I decided I was
not skating anymore. Being physically hurt

The Symbolism Of Hope In Echo By Pam Munoz Ryan
The guards seize Friedrich by the arm. He stalls for as long as he can by conducting to the Beauty and
the Beast waltz he hears in his head. Mike reaches and strains his arm down to the branch where the
harmonica is nestled. The wind rushes past his head as he tumbles down to the ground. These are the
intense situations in which the main characters in the novel face life or death situations, and whether
they would make it out in one piece is extremely unlikely. A harmonica bounces around this story and
becomes a symbol of hope for all three of the characters. Hope is their only resource to draw the
strength they need. They were saved by hope. The light in the darkest of times was proven to them and
shown to them by hope. In the award winning novel, Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan, the harmonica
symbolizes hope. It starts its long journey in a mystical forest with three sisters.
Their names are Eins, Zwei, and Drei are sent to live with a witch as newborn babies. Discovering
they have a real family, they decide to come home. The witch grows enraged; for they completely
disregard that she saved them. She casts a curse on them that they would forever live in spirit form
and they are forever to live in a place where time never passes. The only way they could free
themselves is to save a soul from death s icy grasp. Eins, Zwei, and Drei remember a fortune their
midwife left each of them. Pam Munoz Ryan wrote, Your fate is not yet sealed. Even in the darkest

Persuasion Is An Act Or Process Of Appealing
According to McLean (2010), persuasion is an act or process of appealing to reason or presenting
arguments to induce your audience to do something or to change their beliefs or values. Motivation,
on the other hand, is the force or stimulus to influence your audience to consider your arguments and
adopt your position (McLean, 2010). In short, persuasion is the process and motivation is the stimulus
to bring about the change. For example, when you want to pitch a sale, persuasion involves presenting
good features associated with the products, potential profit, offering good customer service and
analysis of current market demand. Motivation, in contrast, involves incentives like commission,
profit, flexible payment term and negotiability in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moving on, the users of the principle of commitment and consistency prevails their audiences that
they will embrace and honor their word or promises made. If you have rented a room, apartment or
house, you inevitably have the experience of signing a lease agreement in which your landlord is
asking you to engage in commitment and consistency by legally requesting to meet your monthly rent
at the beginning of the month.
The principle of consensus employs the tendency of people follow the path of herd mentality. This is
how sellers on the online retailers like Amazon and Ebay.com find potential customers. If their
customer feedback system is flooded with positive testimonials or experiences from their previous
customers, their potential customers will perceive their products and/or customer services positively.
Lastly, the principle of liking comprises of formulating a way to make your audiences feel safe and
good about themselves. We are more likely to communicate and take action if we feel safe.

Statement Of Purpose For Fashion
Every person I know strongly believes that fashion only stands for the clothes one wears. To my mind,
however, it is a form of art, a body language, a manner to fully express oneself, one s feelings or one s
mood, clichéd as it may sound. This versatility, combined with the possibility to enhance my creative
and managerial skills, is the reason why I feel further studies in fashion management would be the
right path for my future career.

are without having to speak and I believe that this quote describes at its finest the fashion industry a
world without barriers in which you can play with colors, textiles, your own ideas without being
judged. You can be whatever you want, dress like how you feel and still be appreciate, because of its

Analysis Of Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine
As aging occurs within humans, not only do physical changes occur, but changes in the mind occur as
well. Changes that change the way the brain thinks and influences decision making, as well as
reactions to certain situations that occur. These changes are apparent as the brain and body ages and
can clearly be seen when those of varying ages interact with each other. In Dandelion Wine by Ray
Bradbury, one of the main themes appears to be the accustomed act of maturing, or growing up,
specifically, how comprehension is different in people of different ages. Bradbury s novel includes
characters of various ages ranging from little kids to elders whose time has almost come to an end.
These characters interact with one another throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the two brothers continue to go about their day throughout this section, their interactions reveal not
only their personalities, but how they think differently from each other due to their age differences.
Tom, being the younger sibling, still has hope for things that Doug knows are scientifically not going
to happen, like snowflakes lasting until summer. Doug also seems to view things more cogently than
Tom since he doesn t find as much wonder in a sandwich´s taste being more flavorful when eaten
outside. Doug´s disagreements with Tom show how his way of thinking leans more towards realism
when compared to Tom, although he still has a childlike fear of a ¨Thing¨, which he sees as this
monster like being, coming after him. Therefore, it can be concluded from the brothers´ different
views that even a small age difference can cause someone´s way of thinking to change. Despite their
contrasting views, Bradbury also reveals that Doug still falls into the common little kid belief in
monsters to show that Doug´s thinking still had some similarities with Tom´s thinking, but overall
Doug had a more realistic view than his younger brother. The theme of human´s thinking changing
with age starts to emerge through interactions between just kids at first, but youths´ interactions with
the elderly appear later on and show a more drastic contrast between people of different ages´ ways of
comprehending. In the midst of

Differences Between Modernism And Postmodernism
There are a lot of differences between modernism and postmodernism. The first is that modernism
began in the late 19th century and lasted until the 20th century, specifically from the year 1890s to
1945. According to Oak (2008), ... modernism and postmodernism highlights the difference in the
approaches towards life. A good example would be, during the modernist era rational and logical
thinking was encouraged as well as being objective and postmodernism does not and is subjective.
My chosen major is fashion designing. The purpose of fashion to me is an artistic way of self
expression, it is not only shown through clothing, but a large variety of things like one s hair,
personality and even plastic surgery! It is because, self expression is more than just what you wear but
a way to show your personality through fashion.
Jameson (1998, 1) stated, The concept of postmodernism is not widely accepted or even understood
today. It is not accepted especially for the fashion industry and there are people who still do not accept
fashion as a form of art in the postmodernism era but also during the modernist era, Paul Poiret stated
Am I a fool when I dream of putting art into my dresses, a fool when I say dressmaking is an art? ... It

Essay on Will to Survive Depicted in Levi s, Survival in...
In Primo Levi s Survival in Aushwitz , there are a few different themes present throughout this entire

well as the theme of a man being stripped of everything that makes them a man. Throughout the book
the reader sees the different ways the author as well as the other camp members are tortured, and kept
waiting for their deaths. The reader also sees the will to survive from the camp members, as well as
how their relationships develop although they are put their without their family and friends from their

With Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi provides a stark examination of human survival in the
dehumanized society of a Nazi death camp. Throughout the book, Levi reinforces the theme that the
prisoners of the death camp are reduced to being no longer men, but instead animals that must struggle
to survive day by day or face certain death. The story also brings to light the prisoners unrelenting
hope and courage during all of this dehumanization, even though they knew they could die any
moment, they still possessed such courage to develop relationships with each other as well as keep
their heads up. In Chapter 2, appropriately titled On the Bottom , Levi discusses his experience of
being processed as a prisoner into Auschwitz, and the realization that they will not be treated with any
human regard. He and all the prisoners who arrive with him are stripped of everything they own and
are shaved, disinfected, and tagged like they were livestock. Once the prisoners have been processed
and they see what they have become, Levi describes the extreme of treatment as the demolition of a

miserable than this, nor could it conceivably be so. Levi weaves the theme of freedom and respect

Cause And Effects Of Climate Change
The Living Planet report calculates that humans are using 30% more resources than the Earth can
replenish each year (Jowit, 2008). Despite this shocking information, the scientific community around
the world are not focus only on a future lack of resources, but also with the possible cause and effects
of climate change. Both topics are directly related with the future of human life. Since people need the
nature to provide them food, fresh water and material to produce their daily thing, the lack of
resources is a reality. In addition, according to the article The Consequences of Climate Change
published by NASA scientists had predicted loos of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more
intense heat waves as some the effects of climate change by 2100 (NASA, n.d.). Thus, it is clear that
there is an agreement that both issues will seriously affect the future of humanity. However, the
scientific community has doubts about which of these themes is crucial for the survival of human
beings. Taking into account how quickly the natural resources have been consumed, the effects will be
felt earlier than the climate change outcomes. When it comes to the environment, in this specific case
about climate change and the depletion of natural resources, reflection on how these issues relate to
and influence human life is inevitable. In the case of climate change, for example, the article Climate

Synthesis Of Magnesium Oxide
In the first reaction, the copper wire reacted with oxygen from the air in the reaction 2Cu(s) + O₂(g) →
2CuO(s). This is apparent because it was observed that copper underwent a chemical reaction,
changing color form a shiny orange color to the dark gray color characteristic of copper(II) oxide.
Therefore, the product of this reaction is copper(II) oxide. The reaction is a synthesis reaction because
copper and oxygen combine to form one compound.
In the second reaction, when the magnesium ribbon is heated, it undergoes the reaction, 2Mg(s) +
O₂(g) → 2MgO(s). The magnesium reacted with oxygen in the air to form magnesium oxide when the
magnesium ribbon was heated and it produced a white, matte, and crumbly product. This indicates
that the the product formed is magnesium oxide, a dull, white, substance. The reaction is classified as
a synthesis reaction because the magnesium and oxygen combined to form one product.
The third reaction is represented by the formula CuCO₃(s) → CuO(s) + CO₂(g). When heated, the
copper(II) carbonate breaks down into the products copper(II) oxide and carbon dioxide. We know
this because our wood splint stopped flaming the instant it was inserted into the test tube containing
the gaseous byproduct of the reaction. Because the flame was extinguished by the gas, we can infer
that the gaseous byproduct of the reaction was carbon dioxide, thus leaving the the solid copper oxide
in the test tube. The reaction is a decomposition reaction because

The Bicycle Thieves
The Bicycle Thieves is an Italian Neorealist black and white movie directed by Vittorio De Sica. The
movie is about an unemployed father named Antonio Ricci, who is finding a way to recover the family
s lost bicycle. The bicycle was a very important thing that was owned by the Ricci family, but it was
stolen by a young man while Antonio was working. The movie was filmed in an outskirt of Rome.
However, this film is different from other films, because it is neither romantic nor sentimental, but it is
a movie that showcases the real life drama of the Italians after the second World War.
The editing in the last sequence of the movie The Bicycle Thieves is inconsequential in that it does
little on its own to contribute to a scene because it alludes to reality than fantasy. It continues to show
the audience a real life drama, rather than a stereotypical movie drama where fantasy is added.
Especially in the last sequence of the movie, the build up of Antonio s intensity does not need much
editing because then it will look overly dramatized. For example, with the long shot part where
Antonio finally stole the bicycle, there was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Catcher in the Rye has been linked to many murder cases throughout it s time. Mark David

Holden has all of these traits. In the novel, nearly every time Holden gets depressed, he turns to
alcohol. At Ernie s night club he got served alcohol even though he was a minor. He even got drunk at

The Issue Of Offshore Jurisdictions
Introduction
At first glance, the legislation in offshore jurisdictions makes the repatriation of assets seemingly
impossible, providing the impossibility defence for debtors unwilling to relinquish assets owed to
creditors. Offshore jurisdictions may use clever tactics such as duress and flight clauses to make
repatriation of the assets in protection trusts difficult, but onshore jurisdictions are not to be fooled; the
court will either declare the trust a sham, void the transaction, threaten professional negligence against
the attorney or hold the settlor in contempt until compliance. As long as the debtor is physically
residing in the onshore jurisdiction and subject to the laws of that nation, the court can effectively
through coercive means attempt to repatriate the assets from the trust.
Sham Trusts
In Snook v London and West Riding Investments Ltd [1967] 2 QB 786, 802, Lord Diplock defined
sham as, acts done or documents executed by the parties to the sham which are intended by them to
give to third parties or to the court the appearance of creating between the parties legal rights and
obligations different from the actual legal rights and obligations (if any) which the parties intend to
create. But one thing, I think, is clear in legal principle, morality and the authorities ... that for acts or
documents to be a sham with whatever legal consequences follow from this, all the parties thereto
must have a common intention that the acts or documents are not

Negative Effects Of Television And Social Media
Television and Social Media: How harmful is it?
Our social tools are not an improvement to modern society, they are a challenge to it . This signifies
that even though advances made in social media were supposed to help improve the life for everyone,
it s actually causing more serious problems within the younger and upcoming generations. Distracted
from distraction by distractions . This quote merely tells that television and social media is nothing
more than a big distraction from whats going on in the real world and what s going on around
you.Television is a valuable tool for most people, young or old, as of today most information is
delivered to the public via this technology. It can now be assessed quickly via cables or satellite,
which could provide consumers with any type of information that they would ever need, either for
work, leisure, interest and so forth. With the emergent of this media and the production of various
programs, television has caught the attention of most people. With all of this being said, Television
and social media has a more negative impact on children rather than good. This thought has been
reached because, it decreases attention spans and lowers performance in school, promotes and
advertises sexual and violent behaviors and drug use, Also it increases cyberbullying and suicide
For the past 15 years, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has put their concerns about a
number of time children spend viewing the television (AAP, 2001). Referring to the AAP guidelines,
children older than two years old should watch no longer than 1 to 2 hours of quality programming,
and children under two years old should not have any television viewing, as the first two years of life
is a critical period for brain development. Also, no media should be in the child s room, especially
young children. However today, it is an epidemic scenario for children to ask for their personal
television in their bedroom. In a study by Roberts, Folour, Rideout, Brodie (1999), it reported that
32% of the children between 2 to 7 years old and 65% of 8 to 18 years olds have television sets in
their bedrooms (AAP, 2001). These percentage leads to an estimation of 3 hours per day of television

Steve jobs the CEO of Apple, thought that implementation of forward vertical integration is one of the
most significant tactics that grant Apple a leading competitive position. No doubt Apple has too many
competitors, but forward vertical integration has been realized as a tool that distinguishes Apple from
others. It has been decided that the less Apple depends on others the more competitive they are. This
made Apple possess their operating system. Apple could successfully get rid of the middle man. This
means they distribute their own products through their Apple retailers that do exist all over the world.
Through making use of the forward vertical integration, Apple assures that their some of the products

School Psychologist Mission Statement
I believe my mission statement will change as I continue to grow and gain more knowledge about my
new career as I continue through my classes and internship, here is where I begin in March 2017. We
are all working towards what s best for the child, while each person (parent, teacher, school
psychologist, administrator) has their specific role, our collaborative goal is always the same. I want to
remember the negative experiences I had as a parent navigating the assessment and initial IEP process
and do what I can to keep another family from having a similar experience. I also want to remember
all of the positive interactions I ve had with people who have worked together to help a student learn
to the best of their abilities. I want developmentally appropriate assessment experiences in hopes of
getting the best snapshot of the child. My ideal role as a school psychologist would include
assessments, a diagnostic classroom, social skills groups, behavior support, school staff support and
parent training. Hopefully each year I am working I can build in all those different elements and
eventually have my ideal job. For 10 years I have been teaching a special day preschool class. The

The American Automobile And The Foreign Car Manufacturers
What is business ethics? It is formally defined as the critical, structured examination of how people
institutions should behave in the world of commerce. Specifically, it examines self interest and profits,
versus moral values and ethics. The Ford Pinto was a new stylish car, which gave Ford an ultimatum.
Save money or save lives. In this paper I will explain the ethical problems with the Ford Pinto and
why it s imperative for corporations to incorporate ethics into their companies.
The American automobile and the foreign car manufacturers were battling in 1960 70s attempting to
create a more efficient car at bargain prices. Another problem that was haunting the industry was the
gas consumption, which, in the period of the Arab oil embargo in 1970s, became a really critical issue.
The survival for the American automobile industry was in designing and building of subcompact cars,
which would be affordable for masses, consuming as less gas as possible. Such car for the Ford Motor
Company became Ford Pinto that was presented to public in September of 1970.
Since competition between domestic automobile manufacturers was very intense, the Ford Motors
Company decided to build Ford Pinto in only 25 month versus normal 43 months. The General
Manager of Ford Pinto project, Lee Iacocca, was so obsessed with the idea of creating an affordable
car and winning the market, that he specifically set a certain goal for Ford Pinto development team.
The goal was that the car should

were the Rich Armandi Combo, coached by Rich Armandi, and the

pieces. The third song they performed

Essay On American Antisemitism
Racism is over. This is the defense of many white citizens of both Europe and America when they re
called racist, or something is called thus. This is unfortunately heavily untrue for many reasons, from
the cultural appropriation by celebrities of Native and Black cultures, to the standards of beauty fair
skin, aryan features. This is only dealing with part of the problem, however, and an issue that is often
overlooked is the rampant Antisemitism in major European countries, and even in America. From
vandalism, to Russian military intervention, to the current situation in Ukraine, Europe is far from
ridding itself of conflict based on racial bias and greed. Most white Americans and Europeans of today
like to pretend that since WWII, we ve gotten past our prejudiced, anti semitic ways. Sadly, in most of

Income Inequality Research Paper
Economic inequality refers to how economic metrics are distributed among individuals in a group,
among groups in a population, or among countries. Economists generally think of three metrics of
economic disparity: wealth, income, and consumption.
Some studies have emphasized inequality as a growing social problem. Too much inequality can be
destructive, because income inequality and wealth concentration can hinder long term growth. Early
statistical studies comparing inequality to economic growth had been inconclusive, There are various
numerical indices for measuring economic inequality. A widely used one is the Gini coefficient, but
there are also many other methods.

My Understanding Of Family Life And The Meaning And...
As a child I regularly listened to the radio broadcasts provided by the conservative Christian
organization, Focus on the Family both the daily broadcast on family issues and the weekly broadcast
of the radio drama for children, Adventures in Odyssey.
My understanding of family life and the meaning and content of Christian faith was heavily influenced
by these broadcasts. I listened carefully to the dangers of straying beyond the strict confines of
conservative Christian morality, and I can still hear the emphatic tone of voice in which Dr. Dobson
warned his listeners that the process of falling in love that begins with holding hands will inevitably
end up in bed if nothing is done to stop it.
Adventures in Odyssey was entertaining and funny, with engaging characters and high quality
production and story editing. I enjoyed listening to the adventures and getting to know the characters.
It was only later in life that I began to sort out the potentially damaging messages within the drama
from the more simple moralistic ideas of parental love and good behavior. I still like to listen at times,
for nostalgia s sake, but I am increasingly concerned by how the blithe and joyful nature of the
program masks what frequently amounts to bigotry, ignorance, and intolerance. I am grieved that such
a special part of my childhood is turning into something that is little better than a propaganda tool for
extreme right wing Christianity.
Given this observation, perhaps I should not have

Cultural Profile With Mexican And Asian Cultures
My cultural profile is black, or African American to pull in the ancestral heritage. Black culture has

The Consumption Of Dairy Products From My Diet Essay
Eliminating Dairy People often times attempt to practice healthy behaviors, but usually, it s difficult to

products from my diet. Some may wonder what exactly is unhealthy about dairy products, others

The Songs I Ever Heard At A Young Age Of 11
This song is listed number one because it was one of the first Beatles songs I ever heard at a young
age of 11. The Beatles were a very spiritual group and it shows in their work. Many of their songs
were based around love and positive energy. The song was originally written by Paul McCartney in
order to guide Julian Lennon, John s son, who was neglected by his father after he began dating Yoko
Ono. My father started dating my step mother around the same age I heard the song. Certain lyrics
presented seem like they speak to me personally, Remember to let her into your heart. Then you can
start to make it better. During the time, I was so young and did not really understand why my father
decided to start dating again shortly after my parents divorce. It was a very hard time for to choose

An Analytical And Conceptual Framework On The Possibility...
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION This thesis explores an analytical and conceptual framework on
the possibility of employee ownership influence on organizational loyalty as it applies to the modus
operandi of John Lewis Partnership. There are divergent views about the influence of employee
ownership on organizational loyalty. Research suggests that ownership may influence organizational
loyalty (e.g. Taylor, 2011) but it is not completely clear how, thereby prompting various researches
and scientific experimentation on the subject matter. Scholars (e.g. Lampel et al, 2010) reviewing the
performance differences between companies that practice employee ownership framework and other
forms, like State owned Enterprises (SOE) have provisioned mixed results. On the average, these
investigation by various scholars and academia opined that employee ownership and privatization
usually results in improved loyalty and financial performance (e.g., Andrew and Dowling (1998);
Martin and Parker (1997), Lioukas and Kouremenos (1989)). The process of employee ownership,
involving all business activities and functions associated with exploitation and opportunities
identification (Bygrave and Hofer, 1991; Shane and Venkataraman, 2000), have spawned considerable
interests from practitioners and academics. In reality, the employee ownership functionalities are

Evaluation Of A Psychology Experiment
Method
Participants
Each researcher in the class interviewed between one to two children within the following age group;
3 5, 8 10 and, 13 15 years old. As a total, there were 33 children involved in the experiment. There
were 8 children ages 3 5 interviewed; 4 males and 4 females. There were 15 children ages 8 10
interviewed; 8 males and 7 females. There were 10 children ages 13 15 interviewed; 6 males and 4
females. The participants were selected because the experimenter knew the child they were
interviewing. Before interviewing the child, the experimenter asked the parent of the child if it was ok
to ask the child some questions for a psychology experiment.
Materials
Items necessary to complete the experiment were a computer to type up the responses from the child
being interviewed and a phone to call the intended child if the interview was not conducted face to
face.
Procedure
Age groups were assigned based on the people in the class who knew a child within an age group
designated by the experiment. From there, the instructor attempted to keep the groups as even as
possible so to have even results. Interviews were conducted over the phone or in person. Before the
experiment, the prior lab session explained the purpose of the experiment, the procedure, and the
interview questions and instructions. The purpose of the experiment was to look at the social cognitive
development of children as they grew older by interviewing a child about their friendship. The
responses

The Theme Of Communication In Speak By Laurie Halse Anderson
In the novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, the main protagonist Melinda is faced with many
conflicts against society, and against herself. Anderson is able to develop the theme of communication
or lack thereof through her use of symbolism, and motifs throughout the novel. There are many
themes that occur throughout the novel, however the theme of communication can be prominently
seen through the challenges Melinda faces in her everyday to day school life. Melinda s
communication is mostly non verbal as can be seen in the novel. A motif that occurs throughout the
novel is Melinda s self conflict with biting her lips. Melinda s anxiousness can be seen when she is put
in a situation to speak and she constantly picks on her lips until they start

nvestigate SCR s Internet site and learn about the company s history, purpose, and values. Send Jesse
a brief memo with suggestions to expand or improve these sections. (Jeff Finch) I found the website to
be lacking a clear history, and just a brief company description. Also, there are some obvious
grammatical issues such as proper capitalization, No clear difference in size of headings in relation to
paragraphs, and an overall lack of completeness. Shelly Cashman s email is on every page and
suggests that this company is a one man show. I would improve on overall contrast of the site by
adding clear and distinct headings followed by more in depth coverage of all topics. I would improve

2. Jesse wants my opinion on whether or not SCR needs a system review committee. Need to prepare
a recommendation and reasons. (Mike Regge) I think a systems review committee would be a great
idea for SCR. A systems review committee would allow SCR to focus on more system requests with

Battle Of Hampton Roads Essay
The United States Navy has been involved in countless engagements since their creation in October of
1775. During these battles, the need for advance technology and superior leadership became
increasing more vital to winning. However, some battles see a greater increase than others do. The
Battle of Hampton Roads is one of the paramount battles that lead to the growth of the United States
Navy, due to the fact this encounter between the Union and Confederate ironclad ships was unlike any
battle that preceded it. On March 9, 1862 after a two day struggle, the Union Navy left Hampton
Roads as the victor due to the impressive leadership of Captain John Worden, advanced naval
technology, and frankly just pure luck.
On the morning of March 8, 1862, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With beating the CSS Virginia in mind and the leaked design plans of the CSS Virginia, much more
effort and planning went in the making of the USS Monitor. Swedish engineer John Ericsson was the
lead designer of the Union ironclad. It was built from the ground up in just ninety days and was made
entirely of iron, giving the vessel a leg up over its opposite. The key design feature that set the USS
Monitor apart from the CSS Virginia was the turret that was twenty one feet across and eight feet high,
the turret was constructed of eight layers of overlapping one inch iron plate, and it revolved on a
spindle... [The guns] were large caliber guns, and because the turret could revolve, they could be
pointed in any direction (Symonds 101).
Ironclads have never been tested before the Battle of Hampton Roads, so neither side was sure how
the effective their ships would be. However, the immense effect the ironclads had on naval battle was
evident almost immediately. Rounds no longer tore thorough ships, they bounced off the iron plating
causing little to no damage to the vessel. Due to advent of iron plating both sides had to adjust their
fighting tactics and weaponry or continue ending battles with neither ship being

As a student, we put so much emphasis on slavery in America that it is almost easy to forget that slavery existed outside of the United States. The reality is that slavery was common all over the world at some point in time. Take for example, the slavery in the Caribbean was just as severe as slavery in the U.S. Slaves in the Caribbean faced the similar challenges and adversities to the slaves in America. Often times slaves resisted their oppressors, most famously was the Haitian Revolution, which had a powerful historical impact. Many Caribbean slaves lost their lives by trying to become free, and many of them live today to tell us all about what had happened. The slave societies were similar in every Caribbean island just happened in different centuries. According to (Gab Heuman), Barbados sugar revolution of the seventeenth century did not vary dramatically from what happened in Jamaica and Saint Domingue in the eighteenth century and Cuba and Puerto Rico in the nineteenth. The only thing that was different amongst these countries was the technology that was being used. Like in Cuba in the nineteenth century, for example, they had more advanced equipment s than some enslaved had throughout the seventeenth century. • 6. How the Prophet Muhammad Spread Islam How the Prophet Muhammad Spread Islam Prophet Muhammad was the last prophet of Islam, he had made the biggest impact on the religion. Prophet Muhammad spread the Islamic religion throughout most of the world. He started spreading the religion after he had received the message from Gabriel, an angel sent from God to the Prophet. At the age of forty the message of Islam started to spread upon those who were yet to join Islam (Muhammed, the messenger of God). The prophet did not force others into the religion, people would believe the prophet from the acts that he did. The way that he did so was done in a very stable way that did not involve the harming of others, the Prophet had showed equality and gave the people freedom of speech when he attempted to do so. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) had started the spreading of Islam at the place of his birth, Mecca. Before the prophet had spread Islam in Mecca, the main religion in the holy city was idol worshipping .In the beginning, the prophet had had quite a slow start to spreading the religion. The prophet taught those who lived in Mecca about Islam and had not spread the word in such a public way because he was ordered not to. He began by preaching those who were close to him, basically family members. The first believers to join the religion were Khadija (Prophet s wife) and Ali (Family relative) (Asfaruddin). • 7. Myth Of Anger Essay Therapists have seen many years of progressive and ever changing rules regarding proper ways to deal with emotions. These emotions range from happiness to extreme sadness to anger. A very prominent myth that almost everyone has heard is It s better to express anger to others than to hold it in (Lilienfeld 147). For clarity s sake, Scott Lilienfeld, Steven Lynn, John Ruscio, and Barry Beyerstein intended this to mean that violently expressing anger is worse. Anger is a very delicate and strong emotion that has a very strong influence over millions of people. As discussed in 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology, aggressively displaying anger has shown to be worse than channeling it in a constructive and calm manner. Many people continue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People take the word of broadcasters as gospel, no longer seeking the help of professionals. There are plenty of explosive characters in movies and shows, and people find a way to relate with them. They believe that by blowing up over their anger will result similarly to the falsity portrayed by television. Lastly, Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc Reasoning is a major factor in why people believe that aggressively displaying anger is useful. People often mistakenly attribute the fact that they feel better after they express anger to catharsis, rather than to the fact that anger usually subsides on its own after a while. (Lilienfeld 151) This quote from 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology accurately captures the misconception that is commonly faced with this myth. Correlation does not equal causation, and this is something that people often forget. If people knew that this fact was actually a myth, it could save relationships, marriages, families, and lives. Dealing with anger in a level headed manner is crucial to developing a better sense of control over said anger issue. There have been many studies conducted to evaluate anger management; Art Markman PhD. analyzed a social experiment that placed people in situations that would anger them and then allowed half to punch something and the other half to do nothing. Dorothy Allison s Panacea In Dorothy Allison s essay, Panacea, she effectively conveys the importance of preparing a gravy, which ensures the dominant impression of safety and comfort necessary for mothers to display to their children. Dorothy Allison, well known author and essayist, begins her essay by discussing how she remembers her mother s gravy and the process of making it, including the pounding of the meat in order to flatten it out. She adds pathos by saying gravy is the most memory laden dish she has learned how to cook and the comfort it brings. Instead of calling it country fried steak as others normally do, Allison s mother calls the savory dish cube steak, a more underprivileged name. These descriptions of humans who are made part machine, part human allow the reader to get a clearer understanding of Bromden s illness. This, I believe, is a positive aspect of the novel, however there would seem to be, at least one, negative aspect to Kesey s choice of narrators. This choice of narrators for Kesey, in my opinion, may be considered troublesome. He seems to ask the reader to trust the voice of a madman. This seems to do anything but create a narrator who is trustworthy. Upon rereading the Nest, I found myself doubting the narrator because he seems to be inconsistent. In the first section of the ... Out of all things to remember that was my worst and most exciting learning experience. I could not even tell you how old I was. I would guess between five and eight years old. I remember getting a big brown box and in that box was a pair of roller skates. I remember being so happy because I going to roller skate with all the other kids in the apartment complex, so I thought. Playing with the other kids was not hard to do, but skating was difficult thing to learn. Once I put those skates on, I could not stand upright. I would fall forward on my knees or backwards on my backside. I remember my arms flying all over the place. A couple of kids grabbed my hands to help me, so I would not fall, but I still fell down. After some time, I learned to master standing completely still and only being able to move my head from left to right. I managed to scoot and hold on to the walls to get around, but when I let go to move on my own, I just landed on the ground. Each time I tried to use my foot to push, I would just tip over. I must have looked like a tree falling over each time. I was unable to keep up with my friends, which meant I had many tantrums. I stood there hurt because I had fallen so many times that I had cut up my knees and hands and at that moment, I decided I was not skating anymore. Being physically hurt ... In Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury, one of the main themes appears to be the accustomed act of maturing, or growing up, specifically, how comprehension is different in people of different ages. Doug also seems to view things more cogently than Tom since he doesn t find as much wonder in a sandwich´s taste being more flavorful when eaten outside. Doug´s disagreements with Tom show how his way of thinking leans more towards realism when compared to Tom, although he still has a childlike fear of a ¨Thing¨, which he sees as this monster like being, coming after him. Therefore, it can be concluded from the brothers´ different views that even a small age difference can cause someone´s way of thinking to change. Despite their contrasting views, Bradbury also reveals that Doug still falls into the common little kid belief in monsters to show that Doug´s thinking still had some similarities with Tom´s thinking, but overall Doug had a more realistic view than his younger brother. The story also brings to light the prisoners unrelenting hope and courage during all of this dehumanization, even though they knew they could die any moment, they still possessed such courage to develop relationships with each other as well as keep their heads up. Despite this shocking information, the scientific community around the world are not focus only on a future lack of resources, but also with the possible cause and effects of climate change. Both topics are directly related with the future of human life. Since people need the nature to provide them food, fresh water and material to produce their daily thing, the lack of resources is a reality. In addition, according to the article The Consequences of Climate Change published by NASA scientists had predicted loos of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves as some the effects of climate change by 2100 (NASA, n.d.). • 20. Synthesis Of Magnesium Oxide In the first reaction, the copper wire reacted with oxygen from the air in the reaction 2Cu(s) + O₂(g) → 2CuO(s). This is apparent because it was observed that copper underwent a chemical reaction, changing color form a shiny orange color to the dark gray color characteristic of copper(II) oxide. Therefore, the product of this reaction is copper(II) oxide. The reaction is a synthesis reaction because copper and oxygen combine to form one compound. In the second reaction, when the magnesium ribbon is heated, it undergoes the reaction, 2Mg(s) + O₂(g) → 2MgO(s). The magnesium reacted with oxygen in the air to form magnesium oxide when the magnesium ribbon was heated and it produced a white, matte, and crumbly product. This indicates that the the product formed is magnesium oxide, a dull, white, substance. The reaction is classified as a synthesis reaction because the magnesium and oxygen combined to form one product. The third reaction is represented by the formula CuCO₃(s) → CuO(s) + CO₂(g). When heated, the copper(II) carbonate breaks down into the products copper(II) oxide and carbon dioxide. We know this because our wood splint stopped flaming the instant it was inserted into the test tube containing the gaseous byproduct of the reaction. Because the flame was extinguished by the gas, we can infer that the gaseous byproduct of the reaction was carbon dioxide, thus leaving the the solid copper oxide in the test tube. However, this film is different from other films, because it is neither romantic nor sentimental, but it is a movie that showcases the real life drama of the Italians after the second World War. The editing in the last sequence of the movie The Bicycle Thieves is inconsequential in that it does little on its own to contribute to a scene because it alludes to reality than fantasy. It continues to show the audience a real life drama, rather than a stereotypical movie drama where fantasy is added. The Issue Of Offshore Jurisdictions Introduction At first glance, the legislation in offshore jurisdictions makes the repatriation of assets seemingly impossible, providing the impossibility defence for debtors unwilling to relinquish assets owed to creditors. Offshore jurisdictions may use clever tactics such as duress and flight clauses to make repatriation of the assets in protection trusts difficult, but onshore jurisdictions are not to be fooled; the court will either declare the trust a sham, void the transaction, threaten professional negligence against the attorney or hold the settlor in contempt until compliance. As long as the debtor is physically residing in the onshore jurisdiction and subject to the laws of that nation, the court can effectively through coercive means attempt to repatriate the assets from the trust. It can now be assessed quickly via cables or satellite, which could provide consumers with any type of information that they would ever need, either for work, leisure, interest and so forth. With the emergent of this media and the production of various programs, television has caught the attention of most people. With all of this being said, Television and social media has a more negative impact on children rather than good. This thought has been reached because, it decreases attention spans and lowers performance in school, promotes and advertises sexual and violent behaviors and drug use, Also it increases cyberbullying and suicide For the past 15 years, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has put their concerns about a number of time children spend viewing the television (AAP, 2001). Referring to the AAP guidelines, children older than two years old should watch no longer than 1 to 2 hours of quality programming, and children under two years old should not have any television viewing, as the first two years of life is a critical period for brain development. It is formally defined as the critical, structured examination of how people institutions should behave in the world of commerce. Specifically, it examines self interest and profits, versus moral values and ethics. The Ford Pinto was a new stylish car, which gave Ford an ultimatum. Save money or save lives. In this paper I will explain the ethical problems with the Ford Pinto and why it s imperative for corporations to incorporate ethics into their companies. The American automobile and the foreign car manufacturers were battling in 1960 70s attempting to create a more efficient car at bargain prices. Another problem that was haunting the industry was the gas consumption, which, in the period of the Arab oil embargo in 1970s, became a really critical issue. The survival for the American automobile industry was in designing and building of subcompact cars, which would be affordable for masses, consuming as less gas as possible. There were two other groups that performed before the workshop. Those were two bands were the Rich Armandi Combo, coached by Rich Armandi, and the Funk Combo, coached by Chris Madsen, and the Jazz Workshop, conducted by Professor Madsen, and special guest Victor Garcia. All three groups did an outstanding job. They had many moments that I could hear were very similar to what we have been learning in jazz history. It was interesting to actually hear everything that was being taught in class being exercised in the concert. In this paper I will be talking about the concert as well as the parallels that showed up in the concert that relate back to what our class has been learning. In the first group, the Rich Armandi Combo, did really well over all. When listening to the combo there were many things that stood out. You can hear the basic jazz techniques, the drum keeping time, he never stops or goes off beat. In the second song the combo performed Forest Flower was very well done, the trumpet added to the song. I thought that some of the trumpet playing sounded similar to Miles Davis. This was because the trumpeter was playing in a middle register, but not to low. Just like Davis would play, the trumpet also had great a great sound for the long notes she was playing in the pieces. The third song they performed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is unfortunately heavily untrue for many reasons, from the cultural appropriation by celebrities of Native and Black cultures, to the standards of beauty fair skin, aryan features. This is only dealing with part of the problem, however, and an issue that is often overlooked is the rampant Antisemitism in major European countries, and even in America. From vandalism, to Russian military intervention, to the current situation in Ukraine, Europe is far from ridding itself of conflict based on racial bias and greed. Most white Americans and Europeans of today like to pretend that since WWII, we ve gotten past our prejudiced, anti semitic ways. Sadly, in most of the world, this isn t the case. As a child I regularly listened to the radio broadcasts provided by the conservative Christian organization, Focus on the Family both the daily broadcast on family issues and the weekly broadcast of the radio drama for children, Adventures in Odyssey. My understanding of family life and the meaning and content of Christian faith was heavily influenced by these broadcasts. I listened carefully to the dangers of straying beyond the strict confines of conservative Christian morality, and I can still hear the emphatic tone of voice in which Dr. Dobson warned his listeners that the process of falling in love that begins with holding hands will inevitably end up in bed if nothing is done to stop it. Adventures in Odyssey was entertaining and funny, with engaging characters and high quality production and story editing. I enjoyed listening to the adventures and getting to know the characters. It was only later in life that I began to sort out the potentially damaging messages within the drama from the more simple moralistic ideas of parental love and good behavior. I still like to listen at times, for nostalgia s sake, but I am increasingly concerned by how the blithe and joyful nature of the program masks what frequently amounts to bigotry, ignorance, and intolerance. CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION This thesis explores an analytical and conceptual framework on the possibility of employee ownership influence on organizational loyalty as it applies to the modus operandi of John Lewis Partnership. There are divergent views about the influence of employee ownership on organizational loyalty. Research suggests that ownership may influence organizational loyalty (e.g. Taylor, 2011) but it is not completely clear how, thereby prompting various researches and scientific experimentation on the subject matter. Scholars (e.g. Lampel et al, 2010) reviewing the performance differences between companies that practice employee ownership framework and other forms, like State owned Enterprises (SOE) have provisioned mixed results. On the average, these investigation by various scholars and academia opined that employee ownership and privatization usually results in improved loyalty and financial performance (e.g., Andrew and Dowling (1998); Martin and Parker (1997), Lioukas and Kouremenos (1989)). The process of employee ownership, involving all business activities and functions associated with exploitation and opportunities identification (Bygrave and Hofer, 1991; Shane and Venkataraman, 2000), have spawned considerable interests from practitioners and academics.
