Night, Schindler s List, and The Diary of Anne Frank Essay
Night, Schindler s List, and The Diary of Anne Frank
The Holocaust was the most horrific time that man has known. To survive this atrocity, the Holocaust
victims man upon man atrocity, one had to summon bravery, strength, courage, and wisdom that many
did not know they possessed. One survivor is Elie Wiesel, whose exquisite writings have revealed the
world of horror suffered by the Jewish people. Elie Wiesel s statement, ...to remain silent and
indifferent is the greatest sin of all... stands as a succinct summary of his views on life and serves as
the driving force of his work. Elie Wiesel was born as Eliezer, a free Jewish male, on September 30,
1928, in the remote town of Sighet, Hungary. The third child and only ... Show more content on

They were made to dig huge graves. And when they had finished their work, the Gestapo began theirs.
Without passion, without haste, they slaughtered their prisoners. Each one had to go up to the hole and
present his neck. Babies were thrown into the air and the machine gunners used them as targets. This
was in the forest of Galicia, near Kolomaye. How had Moche the Beadle escaped? Miraculously. He
was wounded in the leg and taken for dead. ...
Throughout Europe, similar horrific tales of slaughter and abuse began to surface as Adolf Hitler
became more successful and aggressive in his quest to create a purely Aryan nation. Another,
considerably more violent phase of anti Jewish activity took place in 1938 and 1939; it was initiated
on November 9 10, 1938, the infamous Kristallnacht, or night of shattered glass. Passports were still
being issued for Jews to travel to Palestine; however, many elders refused to leave. The task of starting
over in a foreign land proved to be overwhelming, and no one believed these conditions would
intensify nor continue.
As long as the Jews did not cause trouble, they were left to manage themselves with minimal daily
interference from the soldiers. As the war in the outside world escalated, their world started to
disintegrate. The soldiers moved them every couple of weeks to a new location, leaving behind
personal belongings, and suffering through humiliating personal searches.

What Is Taboo
Taboo: A Taboo is essentially anything that is considered to be immoral or wrong by the norms of
society.
What is a Taboo? A taboo is anything that is forbidden or frowned upon as per society norms.
Anything that may be considered immoral or wrong by society is essentially said to be taboo. The
taboos may be based in cultural or moral beliefs; things that we generally consider as wrong, such as
adultery, theft, murder or cannibalism. There are also a number of taboos that maybe influenced by
religion; for example, many religions consider being gay as taboo or some religions prohibit eating
meat from certain animals. Taboo are very common various traditional communities around the world.

in one culture or society, may be taboo is another. For example: Most societies consider eating dogs as
taboo, whereas there are certain regions in East Asia, where dog meat is considered a delicacy.
Most religions have their own set of taboos. These taboos become generalized in cultures, where that
religion is predominant. For example: In Hinduism, it is taboo to eat cattle. Hence, in India, where
Hinduism is predominant, cattle meat is not easily available. Once, it was impossible to find cattle
meat in India, as cows were worshiped in the olden days. Due to globalization and influx of people
belonging to other religions, cattle meat is now available at some specialty stores and

Alvin Boyarsky Accomplishments
Alvin Boyarsky, the architect who has died aged 61, was responsible for the creation of the rich and
diverse structure used in successful architectural schools and other achievements that led to significant
contributions in architecture. Recounting these many success reflects a tiny bit of the
accomplishments of this remarkable man.
Alvin Boyarsky was born in 1928 in Canada and graduate with a degree in architecture from McGill

Boyarsky was the only change for the survival of the Association and therefore addressed the school
community against Kenneth Frampton. After clearly outlining his vision for the future of the
Architectural Association, Boyarsky was selected to be the new Chairperson.
Boyarsky being a chairperson led to a cut in the government funding which required a survival
strategy in order to remain a private, independent institution. Despite the trouble and pain Boyarsky
faced, he appeared to have the extraordinary energy and power to resecure and restructure the school.
Having the experience needed from his International Institute of Design, Boyarsky managed to build
new international networks over the pre existing Architectural Association structure.
As years passed, Boyarsky managed to prove himself worthy of the chairman position as he was
capable of handing the tense relations with the councils, recruit international students and manage the

The Gap Between Energy Consumption And Energy Generation
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND Background
The gap between energy consumption and energy generation is gradually increasing and has become a
significant problem for both domestic and industrial applications. Furthermore, conventional energy
sources, like fossil fuels, are not fulfilling the energy needs of the developing world. And, although
they are still major energy sources for both the industrial and domestic sectors of the world s economy,
they are also responsible for many problem, such as environmental pollution and climate change.
Alternative energy sources are essential for, and the best solution to, both decreasing the use of fossil
fuels and fulfilling energy demands more healthily and cleanly. The major problem with ... Show more

The electrical energy method stores electrical energy with the use of batteries. This method is
generally considered the best, most prevalent technique when compared to others. The thermal energy
storage (TES) method, on the other hand, stores energy by changing the internal energy of materials.
There are three types of thermal energy storage; viz., sensible heat, latent heat, and thermochemical
energy storage. These are illustrated in Figure 1 below [1].
Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) is a particularly appealing method due to its having a
high energy storage capacity, with it storing 5 to 14 times more heat per unit volume when compared
to the conventional sensible heat storage method. The latent heat storage method is a system based on
the charging and discharging of heat once a given storage material subject changes phases from liquid
to solid or from liquid to gas. Additionally, the latent heat storage system stores energy at a constant,
or near constant, temperature during the process of changing phases which, in turn, depends on the
characteristic structure of the phase change materials (PCMs).
Figure 1. Different types of thermal energy storage methods [2]
The Motivation of this Study
For three decades, many techniques have been used for the purpose of storing latent heat thermal
energy by applying different phase change materials. PCMs. are also known as latent heat storage
materials.

The At The Jacobs School Of Music Recital Hall
For my critique #2, I went to a recital that was performed at 5pm on October 30th, 2016 at the Jacobs
School of Music Recital Hall. The name of the performer was Yuehan Wang. She is a graduate student
at the Jacobs School of Music. My professor told us that if the class is looking for a recital, this would
be an option.
There were two pieces: Miroirs and the 24 Preludes, Op.28. Miroirs was composed by Maurice Ravel
during 1904 and 1905. He was not only a famous French composer, but he was also a professional
pianist. Ricardo Vines, a Spanish pianist, first performed the piece to the public in the year 1906. My
friend, who is also majoring in piano in another school, taught me that there are usually five individual
movements in Miroirs. However, Yuehan Wang only play three of them during her piano recital. Of
the five major segments, Yuehan Wang played Oiseaux tristes, Une barque sur l ocean, and La vallee
des cloches. While there are various parts in Miroirs, each section has many different meanings.
According to PianoSociety.com, Oiseaux symbolizes sorrowful birds , Une barque sur l ocean
represents, A ship on the sea , and finally La vallee des cloches means The valley of bells. Second,
Fryderyk Chopin was a Polish composer and created many piano pieces for solo pianists including the
24 Preludes. Although he created the pieces in 1835, Alain Jacquon first played the pieces in 2002.
There are many individual movements within the 24 Preludes, Op.28 including various

Alibaba- Corporate Advantage and Competiton
How does Alibaba group create corporate advantage? (Why are the businesses under one roof?) Is this
corporate advantage sustainable?
Is the current degree of competition amongst the business units appropriate? Do you think Jack Ma
should encourage more cooperation? If so how?
The Alibaba group has thrived in the Chinese e commerce sector from its inception in 1998. They
currently account for over 70% of online shopping in China and delivered annual revenues of $636
million in the 12month period ending June 2009 (case p1 2). Alibaba s successes are due to multiple
factors that have allowed them to create corporate advantage, and thus establish market leadership in
China (Case p1). The configuration and coordination of Alibaba s ... Show more content on

Ma has created corporate advantage through championing internal competition between subsidiaries,
which although report directly to himself, are run as separate business units under the Alibaba Group.
Ma provides each subsidiary with its own board of directors, operating managers and executive team
to encourage competition (case p.7). Executives are rewarded through business autonomy, in
conjunction employees are incentivised through stock options linked to group performance (case p.9).
The principal way in which Alibaba Group s organisational structure creates corporate advantage is
the flexibility gained from its decentralised nature. Paired with this structure, Alibaba s shared value of
embrace change puts emphasis on innovative and adaptive practice (exhibit 11 case). This notion is
best explained by CFO Joseph Tsai who stated We sacrificed forced synergies in order to quickly
pursue subsidiary opportunities (case p.9). Alipay provides a prime example of the strength of Alibaba
s decentralised structure. Launched in 2004 as part of Taobao, Alipay held consumer s payments until
purchased goods were received, thus eliminating settlement risk. Initially incubated, Alipay became
fundamental to Taobao s growth and soon reached critical mass, this presented opportunities beyond
the internal organisation leading to Ma s decision to separate Alipay from Taobao as an independent

Opportunities:
International Market: Whole Foods is only in 2 other countries, UK and Canada. They always have the
option of looking into some of the world s faster growing markets or even the fact that they could look
into expanding throughout UK and Canada.
IT Influence: Competitors of Whole Foods and even some other grocery have been striving for various
ways to enrich the customer experience at their stores, one such way, is the introduction of self
checkouts , which enables the customer to spend less time waiting in line for a cashier. This is an area,
where whole foods could look to capture the opportunity and excel in.
Threats:
Competitors: The list of competitors for Whole Foods keeps on increasing, most grocery stores are
starting to introduce a section of organic/healthy foods section at their store, as a result of which this
could begin to influence Whole Foods customer base.
Gas Prices: When gas prices rise, the cost of shipping food rises, and when the cost of shipping the
food rises, so does Whole Foods s operating costs. (Whole Foods, 2014).
Implementation of IT into the Whole Foods Business

Tropical Rainforest Essay
Tropical Rainforest Description After my research, I have found that the tropical rainforest is very
important because they help maintain global weather and rain patterns. Tropical rainforests are also
warm all year round, its temperature barely changes from day to night. The tropical rainforest is pretty
wet from all that rain and has high humidity. The vegetation in a rainforest is very green with very
different heights. There are three major layers of vegetation. The first and top layer is called the
canopy, it is made up of large trees , the second layer is the understory, it is made up of vines, smaller
trees, and ferns, the third and bottom layer is called the floor, it is covered with wet leaves and leaf
litter. Many famous mountains and rivers are found in the rainforest, such as, Mount Kilimanjaro,
Amazon river, and Angel Falls. Heavy vegetation causes the rain to take up to ten minutes to reach the
ground.

Main causes for endangerment is destruction of the biome, hunting, and pollution. Some of the
endangered animals include gorillas and bengal tigers. Gorillas are endangered because of destruction
of the environment and hunting. There is an estimated 80% of gorilla population extinct. The bengal
tiger is endangered because of poaching. Since bengal tigers do not die easily from bullets poachers
would kill them with poisoned meats to cause the tiger a long and agonising death. There are also
endangered plants, such as the orchids and mangrove trees. The orchids are endangered because of
how beautiful they are and people just want to pick them. Mangrove trees are endangered because of
poachers trying to get there bark off of the tree. So many plants and animals will be extinct if there is

Ethical Laws To Non-Human Animals
Over 56 billion farmed animals are killed every year by humans. according to the animal rights
organization, Animal Equality. This colossal amount of animals slaughtered for our own selfish needs
does not include sea creatures, which could only augment the number of deaths. Yet, the majority of
the world continues to ignore the speciesism and the destruction of the environment that the meat and
other industries promote. They may contend that the by applying our ethical laws to non human
animals, we are thus depriving ourselves of the essential nutrients that the human body needs. These
vitamins and proteins that are arguably a necessity can be found in vegan food, such as the 6,338mg of
omega 3 found in three tablespoons of flax seeds and 18 grams of protein in one cup of lentils. There

I primarily disagree with the observation that rule making and rule following makes a hazardous

is because the rules make security and request in the general public. Then, if everyone was permitted

In this scenario, there is a dispute between Alice and her children concerning their mother s decision
to take their father, Mr. Ernest to a mental institution without consulting them first. Lack of
communication when taking this action is the main cause of this dispute between both parties. The
best process to help resolve this dispute is through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process
known as mediation. This process of ADR requires a neutral third party, known as a mediator who
helps both parties reach an agreement. The primary purpose of this mediator is to get the parties to
communicate to one another thus foster cooperation by shared exercise. Consequently, Ida, Beatrice
and Donald should appoint a third person who will not be biased on either side to help them address
their concerns and reach a suitable agreement. In this case, the mediator will try to analyze both cases
so as to try and see the similarities between the recommendations of each of the parties. The mediator
will later use this information to encourage an agreement that both parties will like. The advantage
about mediation is that the decision lies with Alice and her children and not with the mediator. The

A Prayer For Owen Meany Ending Analysis
John Irving s A Prayer for Owen Meany has a curious ending. The narrator, John Wheelwright, acts
almost like a tour guide, taking the audience through a voyage of his life and his faith And if you look
to the left, you ll see my mom getting hit by a fatal baseball, John almost seems to say through the
similarly curious Owen Meany, the reason that John is a Christian. For much of the text, A Prayer for
Owen Meany seems nearly aimless, simply describing, often in detail of perplexing thoroughness,
random childhood memories intercut with his current life with a slightly common yet undefined thread
tying them all together. But the ending illuminates each of the seemingly meaningless plot threads,
bringing order to the chaos of John s cluttered memory. The conclusion of A Prayer for Owen Meany
sheds lights on the nuances and intricacies of the novel, cementing some interpretations and opening
doors to others, ensuring that it is a satisfying and, most importantly, a thought provoking ending.
Owen Meany acted as John s moral and spiritual lodestar: he had faith when John did not, helped John
form opinions when he didn t believe he could. John feels lost without Owen to guide him through the

Taking a Look at Google
Executive Summary
Google is a company that has no bounds. To reach our goal of becoming a main competitor in the
United States broadband market, we must gain a larger share of the market. Since the initial launch of
Google Fiber in Kansas City, our service has expanded, from much demand, into the surrounding
communities. It is now time we bring Google Fiber to new communities and expand our territory.
Google Fiber offers broadband speeds that are up to 100 times faster than cable and dsl. Our service is
second to none, and will be the key to our future successes. To reach our goal of becoming the premier
broadband provider in the United States we will also require interdepartmental teamwork to increase
our agility through an ever changing environment. Each department will have a defined role in helping
us reach the goal of Google Fiber.
Department Tasks
➢ Marketing: Research potential new cities to release Google Fiber. Submit reports based on each
city s demographics, to aid in the selection process.
➢ Operations: Based on the information of the candidate cities, select the next three that Google Fiber
will penetrate. Once the cities have been chosen begin to assemble a business plan to best fit for each
market.
➢ Public Relations: Once the next three cities Google Fiber will target have been selected put out
national and local press releases to begin creating buzz about our Fiberhood expanding to new
communities.

The European colonization was a period in history when European countries such as Britain rapidly
took over and colonized many parts of the world which led to trade and interaction between different
peoples. Throughout the centuries of European control much advancement has been made in
transportation, communication and technology. In particular, the printing press, which was created
around the 1500 s was a printing medium used to copy text. The printing press was slow to develop,
but it gradually initiated one of the first technological advancements which spread throughout
European cities and countries. This meant that with more printing presses being made there were more
copies of texts which led to a faster way of communication. The invention and advancement of the
printing press was one of the first contributing factors of globalization through communication. One of
the other major events that shaped history was the Silk Road. The Silk Road was an ancient trade
route stretching from Europe to Asia. It was used to export goods, but also served as a means of
carrying out cultural trade amongst different civilizations and it was used to exchange ideas. This
presents the idea that even though initially its purpose was only to trade and gain materials, it

While doing research, be it before the conference or observing during the conference, pay attention to:
Your country s own attributes (weaknesses/strengths)
Opponent country s attributes

How the situation affects each country
How the country s attributes can be used favorably
For planning and strategizing, consider the following:

What sacrifices would you have to make to align with/attack another country?

MUN is about collaborating and resolving issues together. As such, the speeches that you would make
is not about taking down other delegates ideas, but is instead on convincing others to vote for and
support you. In other words, MUN speeches are meant to be diplomatic, not argumentative.
To make a good speech, delegates should:
Be clear
Be brief
Maintain diplomacy avoid personal attacks
The Caucus
In a MUN conference, the most significant time period other than for speeches and debates is the
caucus. This is because the caucus is used for negotiating and forming

Anarchism in Albert Camus Short Story, The Guest Essay
Anarchism in Albert Camus Short Story, The Guest
[[ The Guest is a small story which can usually be found in a compilation of Camus works or in a
World Literature anthology. Here, I have used the translation of The Guest found in the Norton
Anthology of World Literature, 5th Edition. Since this is a critical essay on a particular story, it
assumes that the reader has read the story. I do not believe that it will be nonsensical if you have not
read The Guest yet, but I do encourage you to read the story so the ideas I put forth can be understood
better in their context. ]]

For example, the very fact that Daru has separated himself from society by taking the teaching post in
the desert demonstrates the idea of Individualism. He must free himself from the constraints of a smo
thering civilization by moving to a region which is completely open, bounded only by the horizon and
the sky. Camus wishes to show that only when a man realizes that he can be distinct and separate from
the whole of humanity is he capable of becoming whole within himself. The forcing of the prisoner
into Daru s care shows the unwanted and unrequested obligations which governments thrust upon
individuals. When
Balducci tells him that he must take the Arab to the prison in Tinguit, the teacher can hardly believe
the officer is telling him the truth.
After he realizes that the people in power expect him to follow their orders, Daru is almost Cain like
in his objection, The orders? I m not... I mean, that s not my job (1898). Certainly, such a reply does
remind the reader of Cain s reply to God after the murder of Abel: I am not my brother s keeper.
However, this is not the intent of Camus.
Daru is not the killer; the Arab is the one who has committed murder.
It would be more appropriate to consider Daru as Seth, the new

The Importance Of Biblical And Historical Allusions In...
Allusions can influence the text in a variety of ways. Biblical and historical allusions are often the
most recognizable in literature and can have a variety of impact. Biblical and historical allusions
create an embellishment of imagery, characterization, and the manifestation of government. An
emphasis seen through allusions is in how imagery is portrayed. Bubbly Creek is described as being
constantly in motion, as if huge fish were feeding in it, or great leviathans disporting themselves in its
depths (pg 94). Sinclair used a biblical allusion to demonstrate imagery using a leviathan, which is
enormous monster first mentioned in later part of the book of Job in The Bible. The leviathan is
enormous and has an indescribable amount of strength and can penetrate a double layer of armor. The
contents of Bubbly Creek have an equivalency of a leviathan, which shows how much power Bubbly
Creek possesses; as well as how nothing else could ever equate to it in size and its unrestrained moves.
Another biblical allusion that Sinclair alludes to is the Egyptian plague of flies in the book of Exodus
and with the hot weather descended upon Packingtown a veritable Egyptian plague of flies; there
could be no describing this the houses would be black with them (pg 104). Sinclair uses this allusion
to exemplify how horrid the conditions were in Packingtown, the plague of flies in The Bible is
described as being so dense in the Pharaoh s palace and the rest of Egypt was covered and

Descriptive Essay About Family Vacation
At the end of last year, my father announced that we will be having a family meeting to discuss our
summer vacation plans. Not this again I thought. Every year, when my father announced a family
meeting regarding our vacation plans, he just explains how we re going down to North Carolina to see
our family and then to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My family and I have been to Myrtle Beach for
the past eight years. Like every year to show appreciation, I attended the family meeting. I remember
how my father had this stupid excited look on his face. He then opened a huge brochure that said
Atlantis Bahamas. I jumped out of my seat in shock, and danced around like an idiot. I was really

Before I entered the hotel I closed my eyes and walked in. I was greeted to the new smells and the
atmosphere of what it was like to be in the Bahamas. About a half hour later, my family and I were
checked into our hotel room. Our room was a normal sized room with a balcony that viewed the park
and ocean. After we were settled, we went downstairs to the beach. I took my first step into the crystal
clear water and immediately jumped in. The water was so warm, that I did not have to take time to get
used to it. Checked that off my list. The next day, my family and I went to a boat ride to go snuba
diving. Unfortunately, you had to be 18 years or older to go scuba diving. Snuba diving was a different
form of scuba diving. You had a long rod that connected to an oxygen tank. You would then put the air
piece in your mouth and start to breathe. At first, I was afraid to go underwater because I was afraid of
sharks. However, when I went in, I was not afraid when I saw all the cool different types of fish.

Mahatma Gandhi As A Champion Of Rhetoric
After carefully reviewing all the candidates, I finally chose who I believe could be the next champion
of rhetoric. Before Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr there was another champion that was not
mentioned in the book. That champion is Mahatma Gandhi. I am interested in Mahatma Gandhi
because of his principles and the way he led his people. Anyone can just sit through it all and do
nothing. There are also people that think that violence and fear will be the solution of the problem, but
Gandhi made a difference by using his words. Everybody knows Gandhi because he used those non
violent acts, like fasting to protest. For example, when he was thrown in jail, he fasted and eventually
they let him out. The reason why they let him out was because they didn t want him to die. If he died,
the British knew that would mean trouble for them. After the British raised the tax on salt, Gandhi and
others decided to protest against them. As a result, Gandhi led the people to the ocean so they can
make their own salt. As he led them he was fully aware of the risks. As I stated before, people were
not only moved by his actions but also his words. After he determined who was his audience, then he
was able to compose a speech that would eventually sway them. Usually, the main purpose of his
speeches was to persuade his people into taking action for a better quality of life and even sometimes
to inform his people about some of the things that were going on. One of those examples is The

racial situation that plagues contemporary America. Over two hundred years ago a document was

Poniente Film Analysis
The film, Poniente clearly demonstrated the issues of race and class within Spain. All throughout the
film, aggression from the local Spanish residents was seen towards the migrant workers. The workers,
many of whom were from Morocco or other parts of Sub Saharan Africa, were underpaid for their
labor, threatened, verbally and physically abused, and thought to be easily replaced by their
employers. Said, for example, nearly bought his own place to live, but the landlord rented it out to
someone else, most likely because of race. All these acts of violence cumulates and results in the final
scene of the film; where the residents riot and attack the workers, thinking they had set fire to the

Confucianism In Chinese Art
Chinese art is one of the oldest continuous traditions in the world. China has a reoccurring theme of
different art forms which includes pottery, jade, and bronze castings. Along with that is also painting,
calligraphy, poetry, architecture and sculpture. Taoism also called (Daoism) and Confucianism
philosophies are indigenous to China s history and have been influenced deeply on Chinese art.
I will begin with Taoism (Daoism) is a philosophical tradition of Chinese culture. It is based on the
writings of Lao Zi in which it emphasizes living in harmony of Tao. Tao means way; as in a path and
also a means of doing: the way of nature. Taoism promotes things like simplicity, spontaneity,
tranquility, nonconformity. Yin and yang are the most known concepts used in Taoism. Yin and yang
are two halves that creates a duality forming a whole. They are complete when together due to the
interconnection and interdependence of two opposite forces. If they split it messes up the balance and
equilibrium of their wholeness. Yin and yang are encountered in our everyday lives like for an
example night and day. Night would be yin and day would yang, another is female and male, yin is
female and yang is male. A final one would be negative and positive, yin would be positive and
negative would be yang. The symbol for yin and yang is called the Taiji.
Confucianism is the way of life taught by Confucius Kong Fuzi in China in the 6 5th B.C.
Confucianism has deeply influenced the spiritual and

Oedipus The King Jocasta Quotes
True ignorance is not the absence of knowledge but the refusal to acquire it. This quote from the
renowned philosopher Karl Popper perfectly describes the actions of Jocasta in Sophocles play
Oedipus Rex, as she should be blamed for the central tragedy of the play. There was plenty of
knowledge available to realize that she was marrying her son yet she refused to allow herself to put
the pieces together. It might seem logical to blame Oedipus for the tragedy, as he had a major flaw:
arrogance; however, it had no bearing in the ultimate tragedy of the play, the act of Oedipus marrying
his mother and fathering four children with her. Jocasta, on the other hand, knew that her son had his
feet pinned and when Oedipus arrived in Thebes, she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sophocles slowly reveals the story of Oedipus s birth throughout the play: Jocasta recalls that her first
husband, Laius, had received a prophecy that doom would strike him at the hands of his son;
(Sophocles 787), when Laius s son was born, Laius fastened his ankles (Sophocles 792) and handed
him to Jocasta to be killed. Jocasta did not kill him, however, and handed him over to a shepherd
(1289 1291) who handed him over to another shepherd, who raised him. That same shepherd, later
states that Oedipus s ankles still resemble the fact that they had been pinned: Your ankles ... they tell
the story. Look at them (1132). Further evidence that Oedipus still had evidence of pinned feet comes
in the stage directions before the play begins, describing Oedipus as majestic but for a telltale limp
(Sophocles). This description of Oedipus s background reveals two substantial truths regarding
Jocasta. The first is that Jocasta never physically observed her son killed; as a result, she either
assumed that he had been killed or knew in the back of her mind that he might still be

Westward Expansion
While the western United States was growing rapidly, the means on transportation across the great
plains was a very long and dangerous trek. With the growing desire for western settlements, the
Transcontinental Railroad would offer a much faster and safer means of travel to the western states.
The railroad would also be capable of carrying goods to and from the West.
There were some primary motives for the United States Government to promote and be so largely
involved with the building of the railroad. First, it was the age of Manifest Destiny, a term coined by
journalist John O Sullivan in 1845, was a driving force in 19th century America s western expansion.
It was the notion that Americans and the institutions of the U.S. are morally superior and therefore
Americans are morally obligated to spread those institutions ( Westward Expansion ). The building of
the Transcontinental Railroad would be an enormous step in this process, making the settlement of the
west much more inviting to people, as well as making the process of western expansion much faster.
Secondly, the fact of being able to send troops much quicker to the Western states. There was great
conflict between settlers and the Native Americans once the flood of people began. This brought the
need for the troops to protect the settlers, and eventually, to force the rightfully resilient Native
Americans onto reservations. Third, as California continued to grow in population, the United States
Government was

East Of Eden By John Steinbeck
John Steinbeck s novel, East of Eden , discloses the answer of right and wrong, good versus evil and
overcoming sin with a simple Hebrew word Timshel , meaning thou mayest, allowing us the freedom
to make our individual decisions or choose our path in life; it s actually God s perfect gift to everyone.
In the beginning, God grants us free will so that we have the ability to love and accept him or not.
However, had God not chosen to grant us free will, we would not be human as we know it today, for
the original sin would never have occurred. Likewise, people s inability to experience emotions of any
kind, whatsoever, would turn us into mere mundane robots, forced to listen and answer to an
authoritarian God. Lee plays an instrumental part in East of Eden , by not only bringing into focus
Timshel and its meaning to the Trask family but through his strength and character as a whole, for
without Lee East of Eden and the concept of Timshel is non existent.
Lee s character in East of Eden commences when Adam and Cathy move to California and Adam
purchases land or his Garden in Eden as Adam refers to it. Lee described in the beginning as a
Chinaman sporting a queue and only speaking in pidgin. However, the more one discovers about Lee
in the book; the more one finds this is not the case at all. Lee is Chinese American, who is extremely
knowledgeable, well spoken, well read, insightful and thought provoking. He was born in a railroad

bring up some really good points. If the article in The Wall Street Journal holds to be true, now would

Assuming that the 80 acres of farmland do not come with all of the equipment needed to grow and

both time and money. If you do not have the additional funds to not only purchase the materials and
hire the manpower to get the farm up and running, but also the funds to sustain your likelihood while
waiting for the crops to turn a profit, you would find yourself in quite the predicament. There are
alternatives to obtaining these additional resources, such as taking out business loans or finding a
business partner, but these added expenses may in turn cause additional stress in your life, defeating
the purpose of moving to Illinois seeking refuge in a more peaceful environment. I also believe it is
important to research the corn crops and corn based ethanol a little bit more before jumping into a
decision like this. According to the 2014 Illinois Crop Budgets corn crops have lower returns than
received in recent years, suggesting that incomes will be down for corn farmers in comparison to
previous years (Schnitkey, 2013). Even with the increased demand for ethanol, knowing that projected
incomes are potentially in decline is something one should not take lightly before making such a

Analysis Of Valentine By Joyce Carol Oates
Joyce Carol Oates is one of the better writers of this decade; she has created masterpieces with her
stories as well as her work overall throughout the years. In one of her short stories, Valentine, she
creates a series of subtle hints to fairytales. Oates is known for alluding to different and all kinds of
hints in her stories, but her subliminal references to fairytales have been one I have seen the most.
Throughout the short story Valentine, Oates makes many nonchalant allusions to fairytales. Oates
knows how to slip them right by you, if you didn t know any better, you wouldn t even notice where
they are instilled inside the stories themselves. In Valentine, the main character is a young fifteen year
old whose family life isn t the best it could be. That s where the fairy tale starts with this story, Oates
creates a line that says, Upstairs was a partly finished attic narrow as a tunnel with a habitable space at
one end my room (1). Immediately, the audience gets that Cinderella vibe from Oates as she describes
the type of room the narrator lives in. Her aunt and uncle are also not too fond of her as well and
Cinderella had an evil step mother as well as step sisters. They may not be step siblings or step
parents, but they are just the same in the eyes of Oates. You also have Lacey, the algebra teacher s car,
a Volkswagen, hinted to be like a carriage. There was a pumpkin that took Cinderella to the ball, right?

Reflection About Hunger
You ask me what is hunger? Listen to me. Here I am, famished, empty, and with every little feature of
my bones exposed and the rumbling of my stomach near you. I will tell you. Hear me out. This is not

ve been hungry before. I ve missed breakfast. Then, my stomach starts to growl, big deal. No, you
have it wrong. Put yourself in my shoes where I desire just a morsel of food in the dumpster in the
alley.
Hunger is being thankful for the hamburger meal someone cheerfully gave to you. With my stomach
aching for a meal, an individual dressed in modesty spots me out from the busy crowd. My clothes
were covered in muck from laying on the grease smudged concrete from that night; however, that
individual approaches me with charm and politely asked how was my day. I told them I was doing
fine, but a meal right now would be great. The individual hands me their lunch they were going to
have for work and wishes me a great day. I looked at the bag like a child being loose in a candy store.
With glee, I opened the McDonald s bag and pulled out a Big Mac meal. I consume each bite
viciously, leaving no crumbs like it was my last time eating. I cried with gladness because I hope I can
thank that person again one day. It was my first meal since three days ago. Hunger is dumpster diving

Use Of Satire In Candide
In the novel Candide by the French Enlightenment writer and philosopher, Voltaire, the use of satire is
highly prevalent. Voltaire took many of the follies and views he disagreed with during the
Enlightenment and satirized them in this highly unrealistic and exaggerated novel. The events
throughout the novel, even if they have some connections or roots in historical events, are seemingly
preposterous and embellished because of Voltaire s heavy use of satire. However, Voltaire merely uses
these embellishments to accomplish his critique of certain parts of Enlightenment thinking that he
believed were foolish or incorrect. One of Voltaire s main uses of satire is his satirization of the
philosophical optimism held by some Enlightenment philosophers. For example, the German
philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, who is mentioned briefly in the novel by the character
Pangloss, is actually where the term best of all worlds originates from (Voltaire, 139 140). Voltaire
uses the main, and title, character Candide to satirize the foolishness of philosophical optimism by
having Candide go through so many hardships to prove this to readers.
The Enlightenment was a great shift in thinking and in part was inspired by the scientific revolution
and lead to many great advancements (Lecture, 9/10/14). Great thinkers and philosophers
revolutionized the way the population, regardless of class, thought about various aspects of life. From
politics to religion new ideas and ways of thinking

PLAYTIME by Jacques Tati Shot from 03:12 04:48 / Airport waiting room
__________________________________________________________________________ Jacques
Tati s 1967 film, Playtime, captures a cascading series of events through the sterile architecture of
Paris, in which few familiar characters inhabit. Tati s infamous alter ego, Monsieur Hulot, haphazardly
occupies many scenes as he stumbles through Paris after trying to contact an American official. The
film is confined to no genre, nor does it necessarily form a new one it simply exists in its own right as
an exploration of societal function. Originally shot on 70mm, the film carries ... Show more content on

The off centre position of the camera in relation to the furniture also allow for the chairs to act as
depth cues and show the enormous length of the room. Everything in the frame is in focus, which in a
cinema viewing is a lot to take in, especially considering the films aspect ratio of 1.85:1. However, the
audiences eyes are cleverly guided around the frame by almost unnaturally loud sounds, some of
which are accentuated in post production by Tati. The sounds against the floors create a reverbing
echo, highlighting the absurd impracticality of the building. A man and a woman sit in the bottom left
hand corner of the frame in what appears to be a waiting area. They are dressed identically in their
monotonous grey colours, as if they are enslaved to the colours surrounding them. During the shot s
beginning, the audience is drawn to the nuns and their rhythmic footsteps as they enter the frame.
Then, through a combination of actor gestures and dialogue, this gaze shifts to the two characters
anchored in the foreground of the image. The rattling of a table being wheeled out by a man in white
into the frame moves our eyes, as well as the couples own attention, to

Crisis in Software Patents and Copyrights Essay
Crisis in Software Patents and Copyrights
Introduction
Gaining the knowledge and skills to provide computer technology products, services and software
requires a significant amount investment of both time and money. The individuals who do such a work
should receive financial rewards for their efforts. These rewards create an atmosphere of creativity and
competitiveness that becomes a driving force of the economy of the world. The products of this
creativity must therefore be protected and we call it intellectual property. Simply, intellectual property
is a product of human intellect that has a commercial value. There are three major mechanisms that
US law offers to protect software intellectual properties. These are trade ... Show more content on

To summarize, a copyright protects a particular piece of software, and a patent protects the idea
embodied in the software.
One weakness of copyright law is that even though it prevents someone from copying the expression
of an idea such as a program or screen images, it does not prohibit from writing code that uses the
same idea. In contrast, patent laws protect ideas such as algorithms, functions, systems or techniques
incorporated in the software but not the source code itself. Although it is fair to protect inventors from
software piracy and infringement, existing software patent and copyrights laws already brought
ultimate crises in software industries and societies.
This paper will discuss the impacts of several crises involving software patents and copyrights by
analyzing the affected stakeholders. The questions we will try to answer are:
Will software patents laws force to halt programmers?
What if the software copyright laws accomplishes globally?
At the end of each discussion, I will look at the moral issues from theological and deontological
ethical perspectives.
Will Software Patent Laws force to halt programmers creativeness?
One of the big issues in software industry is the creativeness of developers are being trapped. How is
this true?
Software Patents are increasing exponentially. Figure 1 shows two estimates. One is by Greg
Aharonian, a software patent expert, and the other is based on patent specifications

How had Moche the Beadle escaped? Miraculously. He was wounded in the leg and taken for dead. ... Throughout Europe, similar horrific tales of slaughter and abuse began to surface as Adolf Hitler became more successful and aggressive in his quest to create a purely Aryan nation. Another, considerably more violent phase of anti Jewish activity took place in 1938 and 1939; it was initiated on November 9 10, 1938, the infamous Kristallnacht, or night of shattered glass. Passports were still being issued for Jews to travel to Palestine; however, many elders refused to leave. The task of starting over in a foreign land proved to be overwhelming, and no one believed these conditions would intensify nor continue. As long as the Jews did not cause trouble, they were left to manage themselves with minimal daily interference from the soldiers. As the war in the outside world escalated, their world started to disintegrate. This method is generally considered the best, most prevalent technique when compared to others. The thermal energy storage (TES) method, on the other hand, stores energy by changing the internal energy of materials. There are three types of thermal energy storage; viz., sensible heat, latent heat, and thermochemical energy storage. These are illustrated in Figure 1 below [1]. Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) is a particularly appealing method due to its having a high energy storage capacity, with it storing 5 to 14 times more heat per unit volume when compared to the conventional sensible heat storage method. The latent heat storage method is a system based on the charging and discharging of heat once a given storage material subject changes phases from liquid to solid or from liquid to gas. Additionally, the latent heat storage system stores energy at a constant, or near constant, temperature during the process of changing phases which, in turn, depends on the characteristic structure of the phase change materials (PCMs). The name of the performer was Yuehan Wang. She is a graduate student at the Jacobs School of Music. My professor told us that if the class is looking for a recital, this would be an option. There were two pieces: Miroirs and the 24 Preludes, Op.28. Miroirs was composed by Maurice Ravel during 1904 and 1905. He was not only a famous French composer, but he was also a professional pianist. Ricardo Vines, a Spanish pianist, first performed the piece to the public in the year 1906. My friend, who is also majoring in piano in another school, taught me that there are usually five individual movements in Miroirs. However, Yuehan Wang only play three of them during her piano recital. Of the five major segments, Yuehan Wang played Oiseaux tristes, Une barque sur l ocean, and La vallee des cloches. While there are various parts in Miroirs, each section has many different meanings. According to PianoSociety.com, Oiseaux symbolizes sorrowful birds , Une barque sur l ocean represents, A ship on the sea , and finally La vallee des cloches means The valley of bells. Second, Fryderyk Chopin was a Polish composer and created many piano pieces for solo pianists including the 24 Preludes. In this scenario, there is a dispute between Alice and her children concerning their mother s decision to take their father, Mr. Ernest to a mental institution without consulting them first. Lack of communication when taking this action is the main cause of this dispute between both parties. The best process to help resolve this dispute is through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process known as mediation. This process of ADR requires a neutral third party, known as a mediator who helps both parties reach an agreement. The primary purpose of this mediator is to get the parties to communicate to one another thus foster cooperation by shared exercise. Consequently, Ida, Beatrice and Donald should appoint a third person who will not be biased on either side to help them address their concerns and reach a suitable agreement. In this case, the mediator will try to analyze both cases so as to try and see the similarities between the recommendations of each of the parties. The narrator, John Wheelwright, acts almost like a tour guide, taking the audience through a voyage of his life and his faith And if you look to the left, you ll see my mom getting hit by a fatal baseball, John almost seems to say through the similarly curious Owen Meany, the reason that John is a Christian. For much of the text, A Prayer for Owen Meany seems nearly aimless, simply describing, often in detail of perplexing thoroughness, random childhood memories intercut with his current life with a slightly common yet undefined thread tying them all together. But the ending illuminates each of the seemingly meaningless plot threads, bringing order to the chaos of John s cluttered memory. The conclusion of A Prayer for Owen Meany sheds lights on the nuances and intricacies of the novel, cementing some interpretations and opening doors to others, ensuring that it is a satisfying and, most importantly, a thought provoking ending. Biblical and historical allusions are often the most recognizable in literature and can have a variety of impact. Biblical and historical allusions create an embellishment of imagery, characterization, and the manifestation of government. An emphasis seen through allusions is in how imagery is portrayed. Bubbly Creek is described as being constantly in motion, as if huge fish were feeding in it, or great leviathans disporting themselves in its depths (pg 94). Sinclair used a biblical allusion to demonstrate imagery using a leviathan, which is enormous monster first mentioned in later part of the book of Job in The Bible. The leviathan is enormous and has an indescribable amount of strength and can penetrate a double layer of armor. The contents of Bubbly Creek have an equivalency of a leviathan, which shows how much power Bubbly Creek possesses; as well as how nothing else could ever equate to it in size and its unrestrained moves. Another biblical allusion that Sinclair alludes to is the Egyptian plague of flies in the book of Exodus and with the hot weather descended upon Packingtown a veritable Egyptian plague of flies; there could be no describing this the houses would be black with them (pg 104). Everybody knows Gandhi because he used those non violent acts, like fasting to protest. For example, when he was thrown in jail, he fasted and eventually they let him out. The reason why they let him out was because they didn t want him to die. If he died, the British knew that would mean trouble for them. There was plenty of knowledge available to realize that she was marrying her son yet she refused to allow herself to put the pieces together. It might seem logical to blame Oedipus for the tragedy, as he had a major flaw: arrogance; however, it had no bearing in the ultimate tragedy of the play, the act of Oedipus marrying his mother and fathering four children with her. • 34. East Of Eden By John Steinbeck John Steinbeck s novel, East of Eden , discloses the answer of right and wrong, good versus evil and overcoming sin with a simple Hebrew word Timshel , meaning thou mayest, allowing us the freedom to make our individual decisions or choose our path in life; it s actually God s perfect gift to everyone. In the beginning, God grants us free will so that we have the ability to love and accept him or not. However, had God not chosen to grant us free will, we would not be human as we know it today, for the original sin would never have occurred. Likewise, people s inability to experience emotions of any kind, whatsoever, would turn us into mere mundane robots, forced to listen and answer to an authoritarian God. Lee plays an instrumental part in East of Eden , by not only bringing into focus Timshel and its meaning to the Trask family but through his strength and character as a whole, for without Lee East of Eden and the concept of Timshel is non existent. Lee s character in East of Eden commences when Adam and Cathy move to California and Adam purchases land or his Garden in Eden as Adam refers to it. Lee described in the beginning as a Chinaman sporting a queue and only speaking in pidgin. However, the more one discovers about Lee in the book; the more one finds this is not the case at all. Lee is Chinese American, who is extremely knowledgeable, well spoken, well read, insightful and thought provoking. He was born in a railroad camp, where his mother disguised ... • 35. Leaving New York City for the Farmlands of Illinois Essay | Case: Leaving New York City for the Farmlands of Illinois There are a lot of things to consider before making a career changes, especially one as big as uprooting yourself from the business world in a major city to moving to rural farmland, learning a new trade from the bottom up. It is crucial to research your options before making any decisions. The advice from your colleagues in the text does bring up some really good points. If the article in The Wall Street Journal holds to be true, now would be an excellent time to get into the farming business producing corn crops if there is going to be an increased demand for corn to produce corn based ethanol as a gasoline substitute. If there will be an increase in the demand for corn, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Assuming that the 80 acres of farmland do not come with all of the equipment needed to grow and harvest corn crops, there will be an additional investment beyond the $80,000 for the land in terms of both time and money. If you do not have the additional funds to not only purchase the materials and hire the manpower to get the farm up and running, but also the funds to sustain your likelihood while waiting for the crops to turn a profit, you would find yourself in quite the predicament. There are alternatives to obtaining these additional resources, such as taking out business loans or finding a business partner, but these added expenses may in turn cause additional stress in your life, defeating the purpose of moving to Illinois seeking refuge in a more peaceful environment. I also believe it is important to research the corn crops and corn based ethanol a little bit more before jumping into a decision like this. According to the 2014 Illinois Crop Budgets corn crops have lower returns than received in recent years, suggesting that incomes will be down for corn farmers in comparison to previous years (Schnitkey, 2013). Even with the increased demand for ethanol, knowing that projected incomes are potentially in decline is something one should not take lightly before making such a drastic career ... • 36. Analysis Of Valentine By Joyce Carol Oates Joyce Carol Oates is one of the better writers of this decade; she has created masterpieces with her stories as well as her work overall throughout the years. In one of her short stories, Valentine, she creates a series of subtle hints to fairytales. Oates is known for alluding to different and all kinds of hints in her stories, but her subliminal references to fairytales have been one I have seen the most. Throughout the short story Valentine, Oates makes many nonchalant allusions to fairytales. Oates knows how to slip them right by you, if you didn t know any better, you wouldn t even notice where they are instilled inside the stories themselves. In Valentine, the main character is a young fifteen year old whose family life isn t the best it could be. That s where the fairy tale starts with this story, Oates creates a line that says, Upstairs was a partly finished attic narrow as a tunnel with a habitable space at one end my room (1). Immediately, the audience gets that Cinderella vibe from Oates as she describes the type of room the narrator lives in. Her aunt and uncle are also not too fond of her as well and Cinderella had an evil step mother as well as step sisters. They may not be step siblings or step parents, but they are just the same in the eyes of Oates. You also have Lacey, the algebra teacher s car, a Volkswagen, hinted to be like a carriage. There was a pumpkin that took Cinderella to the ball, right? The orange looking tiny pumpkin looking one, that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For decades comic book characters such as Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have captured the imaginations of American children and adults alike. Superheroes they have been coined. But these figures only exist in our imaginations. Batman is not really there to save us from villains such as the Joker and the Riddler is he? Because these heroes are fictional, we are left without real life heroes, or are we? They do so much for you that when you stop and take a look, you can see that they were your heroes from the very beginning. Ever been driving down the road, possibly with a child in the backseat, and all of a sudden the wail of a siren blast through the air and you pull off the road? Within seconds you see flashing lights and a police car or fire truck speeds past you and, without thinking about it, you just witnessed heroes in action. That child in the backseat will probably never forget the event. The first time many teachers or parents hear a child say, I want to be a policeman/firefighter when I grow up, it s because this child has seen policemen and firefighters in action. In a child s eyes, policemen catch the bad guys and make the street safe and firefighters put out monstrous fires with their cool hoses and save people from burning buildings. • 38. Reflection About Hunger You ask me what is hunger? Listen to me. Here I am, famished, empty, and with every little feature of my bones exposed and the rumbling of my stomach near you. I will tell you. Hear me out. This is not a joke, nor a pleasant position to be in. Yet, when you think of hunger, you say to yourself, Oh yes, I ve been hungry before. I ve missed breakfast. Then, my stomach starts to growl, big deal. No, you have it wrong. Put yourself in my shoes where I desire just a morsel of food in the dumpster in the alley. Hunger is being thankful for the hamburger meal someone cheerfully gave to you. With my stomach aching for a meal, an individual dressed in modesty spots me out from the busy crowd. My clothes were covered in muck from laying on the grease smudged concrete from that night; however, that individual approaches me with charm and politely asked how was my day. I told them I was doing fine, but a meal right now would be great. The individual hands me their lunch they were going to have for work and wishes me a great day. I looked at the bag like a child being loose in a candy store. With glee, I opened the McDonald s bag and pulled out a Big Mac meal. I consume each bite viciously, leaving no crumbs like it was my last time eating. I cried with gladness because I hope I can thank that person again one day. It was my first meal since three days ago. Hunger is dumpster diving in the alley behind a restaurant. It was a daily routine for me, and I must quickly get it before ... • 39. Use Of Satire In Candide In the novel Candide by the French Enlightenment writer and philosopher, Voltaire, the use of satire is highly prevalent. Voltaire took many of the follies and views he disagreed with during the Enlightenment and satirized them in this highly unrealistic and exaggerated novel. The events throughout the novel, even if they have some connections or roots in historical events, are seemingly preposterous and embellished because of Voltaire s heavy use of satire. However, Voltaire merely uses these embellishments to accomplish his critique of certain parts of Enlightenment thinking that he believed were foolish or incorrect. One of Voltaire s main uses of satire is his satirization of the philosophical optimism held by some Enlightenment philosophers. For example, the German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, who is mentioned briefly in the novel by the character Pangloss, is actually where the term best of all worlds originates from (Voltaire, 139 140). Voltaire uses the main, and title, character Candide to satirize the foolishness of philosophical optimism by having Candide go through so many hardships to prove this to readers. The Enlightenment was a great shift in thinking and in part was inspired by the scientific revolution and lead to many great advancements (Lecture, 9/10/14). Great thinkers and philosophers revolutionized the way the population, regardless of class, thought about various aspects of life. From politics to religion new ideas and ways of thinking ... Playtime by Jacques Tati Shot Analysis PLAYTIME by Jacques Tati Shot from 03:12 04:48 / Airport waiting room __________________________________________________________________________ Jacques Tati s 1967 film, Playtime, captures a cascading series of events through the sterile architecture of Paris, in which few familiar characters inhabit. Tati s infamous alter ego, Monsieur Hulot, haphazardly occupies many scenes as he stumbles through Paris after trying to contact an American official. The film is confined to no genre, nor does it necessarily form a new one it simply exists in its own right as an exploration of societal function. Originally shot on 70mm, the film carries ... Everything in the frame is in focus, which in a cinema viewing is a lot to take in, especially considering the films aspect ratio of 1.85:1. However, the audiences eyes are cleverly guided around the frame by almost unnaturally loud sounds, some of which are accentuated in post production by Tati. The sounds against the floors create a reverbing echo, highlighting the absurd impracticality of the building. A man and a woman sit in the bottom left hand corner of the frame in what appears to be a waiting area. They are dressed identically in their monotonous grey colours, as if they are enslaved to the colours surrounding them. During the shot s beginning, the audience is drawn to the nuns and their rhythmic footsteps as they enter the frame. Then, through a combination of actor gestures and dialogue, this gaze shifts to the two characters anchored in the foreground of the image. Crisis in Software Patents and Copyrights Essay Crisis in Software Patents and Copyrights Introduction Gaining the knowledge and skills to provide computer technology products, services and software requires a significant amount investment of both time and money. The individuals who do such a work should receive financial rewards for their efforts. These rewards create an atmosphere of creativity and competitiveness that becomes a driving force of the economy of the world. The products of this creativity must therefore be protected and we call it intellectual property. Simply, intellectual property is a product of human intellect that has a commercial value. To summarize, a copyright protects a particular piece of software, and a patent protects the idea embodied in the software. One weakness of copyright law is that even though it prevents someone from copying the expression of an idea such as a program or screen images, it does not prohibit from writing code that uses the same idea. In contrast, patent laws protect ideas such as algorithms, functions, systems or techniques incorporated in the software but not the source code itself. Although it is fair to protect inventors from software piracy and infringement, existing software patent and copyrights laws already brought ultimate crises in software industries and societies. This paper will discuss the impacts of several crises involving software patents and copyrights by analyzing the affected stakeholders. The questions we will try to answer are: Will software patents laws force to halt programmers? What if the software copyright laws accomplishes globally? At the end of each discussion, I will look at the moral issues from theological and deontological ethical perspectives. Will Software Patent Laws force to halt programmers creativeness? One of the big issues in software industry is the creativeness of developers are being trapped. How is this true? Software Patents are increasing exponentially. Figure 1 shows two estimates.
