Ovariohysterectomy In Dogs
Problem: Spaying a dog is a far more invasive surgery than neutering is, due to the need to enter the
abdominal cavity to remove the uterus and the ovaries in a ovariohysterectomy. The act of opening
the abdominal cavity increases the risk of infection in dogs due to exposing inner tissues and organs
to a potentially non sterile environment. To counteract the risk of infection, many doctors
preemptively prescribe antibiotics to the dogs, however, Shiloh Veterinary Hospital does not. The
antibiotics usually serve the purpose of keeping the dogs infection free, but it also contributes to the
evolution of antibiotic resistant diseases that are far more dangerous to the animals.
Knowing which dog breeds are the most and least susceptible to infection

Individualism In Persepolis
In Marjane Satrapi s graphic novel, Persepolis, the effects of revolution and women s suffrage
shapes Satrapi s individualism and the way she writes Persepolis. However, these effects could also
be the reasoning for conformity throughout the nation and her graphic novel. Satrapi uses symbols
such as veiling, her rebellious actions as a teen and culture to show originality. Veiling could of
meant various things to women in Iranin the 1970s, some would say Satrapi does not show any
significance to the veils and only uses them to show the cultural aspect of women. As well for the
symbols of the cigarette, music taste, and clothing Satrapi choses to mention in Persepolis; that the

It was seen as a symbol of respect, authority, or marriage. In Persepolis there is a panel when a
powerful male figure says on tv, If in fact it is really more civilized to go without a veil, then
animals are more civilized than we are (Satrapi 74) suggesting that the veil was not a punishment
or for segregation, but their cultured way of life. In fact, many women protested to make sure
that they had the freedom to veil as they were influenced by modernized Islam by doing so. In
1979, veiling was seen as a major symbol for anti imperialism of the Islamic Revolution going on
(Jelodar). Although the government was requiring women to wear veils, many were already
doing it on their own to show what they stood for. Satrapi and her mother were a few of Iranian
women who felt strongly about veiling they resisted as much as possible, but if women were
being killed and sent to prison for not being properly veiled; that could be a reason for why there
was so many women willing to conform and veil himself. However Satrapi never mentions other
reasons women would want to veil themselves, such as for anti imperialism, respect or a sign of
marriage throughout her graphic

Characteristics Of Decoding Neanderthal
According to Decoding Neanderthals they were consider primitive; without language and art or a
high level of thinking. These species hunted by brute force with a simple stone tool. Also, that their
intellect cannot be associated or compared with modern humans because their behavior was too
way primitive. They began to disappear 40,000 years ago as modern humans came on the scene,
stated by Decoding Neanderthals documentary movie. However, according to the genetic evidence
shows a mysterious presence related with the modern humans genes. Neanderthals psychical
features demonstrate some facts that these Homo species possessed intelligence. For example, big
noses, bulky physiques adaptation to cold, shorter than Homo sapiens, but bones were thicker,
oblique forehead and heavy eyebrows. Also, often Neanderthal s craniums are larger than modern
humans. They had larger ankle joint, elbow joint and shorter forearm, broader ribcage and lower
cranium. They were the most advanced group of primates, except modern humans. Neanderthals
weren t fewer intelligent than modern people; they had clothes and had some kind of language.
Neanderthal living space showed complex use of the instrument, abstract thoughts and speech,
burial of their dead and manufactured primitive art objects. Some stereotypes against these species
are that they had limited stone tools and no art or personal ornaments; therefore they seemed less
advanced than modern humans. Also, stereotyping their intelligence

The research presented in this article seeks to determine if Computer assisted language learning
(CALL) will improve foreign language learning versus an in class curriculum setting. A numerous
amount of current research examines CALL and its impact on non native English speakers learning
English as a foreign language. However, this study will focus on expanding the research further
through the examination of three different foreign languages, ranked from easiest to hardest, that
will be studied by native English speakers: Spanish, Russian, and Korean. These three languages
are chosen due to the level of difficulty in regards to fluency for native English speakers, based

The overall role of CALL is to enhance learning through the use of computer programs in order to
acquire a better understanding of the learning content. In a more broad definition, Levy (1997)
states that it is the search for and study of applications of the computer in language teaching and
learning (Levy). This view of finding applications that assist in language learning seems to be held
by the majority of modern CALL practitioners. The primary applications that CALL is used for
include the use of simulations, drills, tutorials, word processing, authored programs, games,
database search/inquiry methods and programmed instruction (Olibie). In an additional
explanation, Ormrod describes CALL as the encompassing of a wide variety of innovations,
including simulations that engage students in realistic activities, intelligent tutors that diagnose and
address specific problem areas, computer tools, and challenging problems and games (Ormrod
106). Many studies have been conducted to investigate the effect of CALL on the language
learning process. Research results have proved that CALL provides a positive effect on students
competency of new languages. When compared to traditional methods of teaching, however, it is
unclear as to whether a modern day CALL provides more long or short term increase in

Compare Contrast Gilgamesh and Beowulf
Comparison and Contrast Essay Final Draft: Gilgamesh vs. Beowulf
The epics of Beowulf and Gilgamesh are about a pair of heroes who had many common
characteristics as well as characteristics that contradict one another. Beowulf is a Christian epic that
roots from the Anglo Saxon culture. Throughout the plot, there are numerous biblical allusions.
Grendel who haunted the moors, the wild Marshes, and made his home in a hell not hell but earth.
He was spawned in that slime, conceived by a pair of monsters born of Cain, murderous creatures

into these fights, Beowulf already had God s favor, because Grendel and his mother were
descendants of Cain, and they were from hell. Hail to those who will rise to God, drop off their
dead bodies, and seek our Father s peace. (from Beowulf part one, translated by Burton Raffel pg
23 lines 101 103). Although Gilgamesh is favored by many gods and Beowulf is favored by one
god, it is this favor that makes them both heroes. In contrast, Beowulf and Gilgamesh had
different endings to their lives. Beowulf died after his battle with the dragon. That final day was
the first time when Beowulf fought and fate had denied him glory in battle. (from Beowulf Part
two translated by Seamus Heaney pg 45 lines 723 725) Gilgamesh s life went a bit different. He
eventually died, but in the story, he went on a journey to find the secret to everlasting life. Seven
days and nights I sat beside the body, weeping for Enkidu beside the body, and then I saw a worm
fall out of his nose.

Analysis Of For Whom The Bell Toll By John Donne
The introduction to For Whom The Bell Tolls is a poem by John Donne, of which the last line
says any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never
send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee (Hemingway 3). This line encapsulates the
theme of the novel and defines the novel s meaning. Robert Jordan the main character of the
novel arrives in Spain as a volunteer, ready to fight and give his life for other people s freedom
and right to self determination. One of the reasons why this novel was so enjoyable was its focus
on the individual and intense discussions about life and death and morality of killing for and idea.
However, the reader can not help identifying with Jordan, as he plans his own future despite
subconsciously understanding his fate.
For Whom The Bell Tollstakes place during the Spanish Civil War, during a time period when
political divisions, between the right and Nd left were at all time highs around the world. The
novel discusses an execution of the fascists in one of the main character, Pillar s, town, and she
describes how political beliefs became enough to kill someone for. Don Guillermo was a fascist
but otherwise there was nothing against him... He had a rude way of speaking and he was
undoubtedly a fascist and a member of their club and he sat at noon and at evening in the cane
chairs of their club to read El Debate, to have his shoes shined, and to drink vermouth and seltzer

Elvis Presley s Influence On African American Culture
In the 1950 s and 1960 s, Rock N Roll made a steady influential climb into the blossoming
generations norm. Elvis Presley, The King of Rock, debuted his first number one hit song
Heartbreak Hotel and it climbed steadily to the top of the charts as the number one song in
February of 1956. When Elvis popularity first grew, it sparked outrage through the previous
generations in fears that his music would intertwine cultures. In the 1950s and 1960s, Rock N Roll
was classified as African Americanmusic and those listeners who do not fit that class, would be
frowned upon. Mr. Presley was a Nashville native, who sang hard driving rockabilly, Rock N Roll
dance songs and ballads, and laid a foundation for other rock musicians to follow.
Elvis unique fashion sense influenced younger generations through the years to dress their
snazziest, grease their hair in a 50 s fashion, and influenced how they interact with each other. Elvis

Disadvantages Of Carboxylic Acid
The combination of a carbonyl (C=O) group and hydroxyl (в€’OH) group on the same carbon atom
results in the formation of a carboxyl (в€’COOH) functional group. Compounds containing at least
one carboxyl functional group are commonly known as carboxylic acids, and have the general
molecular formula CnH2n+1COOH. Carboxylic acidswith two or more carboxyl groups are called
dicarboxylic acids, tricarboxylic acids, etc. The carboxyl group is one of the most frequently

The Middle Passage Essay
The Middle Passage (or Trans Atlantic Slave Trade) was a voyage that took slaves from Africa
to the Americas via tightly packed ships. The trade started around the early 1500s, and by 1654
about 8,000 10,000 slaves were being imported from Africa to the Americas every year. This
number continued to grow, and by 1750 that figure had climbed to about 60,000 70,000 slaves a
year. Because of the lack of necessary documents, it is hard to tell the exact number of Africans
taken from their homeland. But based on available clues and data, an estimated 9 15 million were
taken on the Middle Passage, and of that about 3 5 million died. While the whole idea seems sick

Meanwhile in the Americas, European empires were growing, and they realized that they needed
a more efficient work force. They had tried using Native Americans, but they usually died from
European diseases. Europeans couldn t work because of the diseases that the tropical climate gave
them. It seemed like Africans would be the perfect solution to their problems. They were used to
the tropical climate and immune to its diseases, had experience in agriculture, and there was
already a market for them. This introduced the slave trade to North America, and in 1619 the first
New World slaves were brought to Jamestown, Virginia. Most of the earlier slaves to journey the

but later expanded all along the coast of Africa. The Atlantic Slave Trade was also given the name
Middle Passage , since it was the middle leg in the Triangular trade. The Triangular trade was a
trade system among Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Europe made manufactured goods such as
textiles, gun powder, firearms, iron and copper bars, alcohol, cloth and brass kitchen ware. These
were traded in Africa for slaves, gold, and silver, which were transported to the Americas, where
they were exchanged for tobacco, fish, lumber, flour, sugar cane, cotton, and distilled rum. This
merchandise was then brought to Europe, where the cycle began again. The Triangle Trade was very

amazing performances from the band, the Pink Panthers, and had many generous promotions from
the team s sponsors.
The first performance of the night began at halftime. The prominent EIU marching band formed in a
perfectly rounded heart around the Panther logo at the fifty yard line. Dressed in flashy black
feathered hats, royal blue and black shirts, and black pants, the trumpets roared and the drummers
pounded with might. Their eyes were focused on the music while the conductor firmly gave them
the beat as he vigorously moved about on the stand. The flags were being twirled effortlessly by
the delicately nimble hands of their holders. As the music was being beautifully executed, the
gorgeous baton twirler spun and launched her baton high into the air. The band first entertained the
crowd with the playing of UpTown Funk, the dedication song of the summer of 2015, then Fall
Out Boy s Uma Thurman, and lastly Walk The Moon s song Shut Up and Dance with Me.
The Pink Panthers accompanied the band in their halftime performance. Adding to the already
spectacular performance of the band, the Pink panthers brought a little extra pizzaz to the show.

Response To The Bible
This is how I would respond to my friend in option one:
The Bible is indeed made up of many different stories that are compiled in the sixty six books of
the Bible, but they all tell one overarching story; God s story. All the stories of the Bible, while not
seeming to fit together at first glance, flow together to create the story of God. From the beginning
of Genesis to the end of Revelation, God is there, and He reveals Himself and His plan for us
through the different stories (Everyday Bible Study, pg. 3 4). The Old Testament tells us the history
of humans and why we need a Savior and also points to the coming of that Savior, Jesus, whose life
is recorded in the gospels of the New Testament.
Because the Bible is God s story and not ours, if we begin reading the Bible expecting it to lay out
specific and easily followed guidelines for our lives, we miss the point of the Bible in the first
place. Yes, the Bible can help us navigate through our daily lives, but it s not a road map that
helps us choose the best path to take, its purpose is to show us what God s plan for us is ... Show

The Bible is God s word to us, and He is a kind and loving God. He wants us to know that we are
loved unconditionally and that He will never abandon us. As the Lord told us through Moses;
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who
goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6). Yes, the Bible s stories
can help you cope with life in the real world, but the Bible is not just a self help book. Because
God is the focus of the Bible, the reassurances and words of encouragement have meaning and
substance. Instead of simply saying you re strong, you can get through this! the Bible tells me that I
can do all things through Him who strengthens me, (Philippians 4:13). Our strength does not come

An Exploration Of An Apparel Manufacturer Sme Brand
I. Working Title:
An exploration of the tangible and intangible building blocks of branding in relation to an apparel
manufacturer SME brand in the U.S.
II. Context and Rationale Evidence of Preliminary Review of Literature
In the context of small to medium enterprises, statistics show that about half of new businesses
fail within five years (Anderson 2014). The reasons for why new businesses fail have been a
number of reasons. Some of them are due to high interest rates, taxes, and lack of bank lending
(Anderson 2014). In the UK sector, it has been noted that the chances of a new business from
flourishing is even harder than before the financial crisis (Anderson 2014). With the countless

Although there has been branding research that was presented by Aaker and Keller, many SMEs, in
the apparel manufacturer brand segment, are not aware of these principles.
There are two ways in which brands can represent themselves. They are manufacturer brand or
own brand. Manufacturer brand is based upon the idea that a manufacturer of a product sells the
product under it s own name. Own label brand is when the private label brand is not the producer
of the product, but is bought from a manufacturer and sold by the brand at a cheaper price. In
terms of manufacturer brands in SME brand strategy, there is much competition with own brand
labels in terms of market share (Oubinam Rubio, and Yague 2006). With the competition of own
brand label and corporate companies taking market share, there is much fascinating research to be
done on brand equity of a company in the SME s perspective.
Justification of Study
Gap and area in need of further research
There has been little research on brand equity in SME apparel brands. It is easier to research
brand strategy on a corporate company that is already successful, and so little knowledge is added
on emerging companies or SMEs who are struggling to stay competitive in the fashion apparel
industry. This research would add knowledge to the best SME s brand strategy in the young women
s contemporary market. The value of corporate branding

The Art Of Flamenco Dancing
Mahatma Gandhi once stated that A nations culture resides in the hearts and souls of its people

which people work hard to continue on with a culture they created long ago. Spain is a very
colorfully cultured country with many famous and important traditions one of which is, the art of

At this time Franco took the same ideas of French romantics and turned it into a money maker. He

To find reality behind Flamencos post card image you could look towards Granada. Here you
would find the sense of Flamencos ancient roots. In Granada you would find Gypsies. For many
centuries Gypsies lived in caves cut out of the soft hillside of Sacromonte. There are two types of
gypsies. Gypsy s from the north and gypsies from the South. Those in the south came with dancing
styles influenced by other countries. These influences came through Iran, Iraq, Greece and Turkey
and they worked their way into southern Spain. The Gypsies arrived in AndalucГa in the 15th
century during the Christian reconquest of Spain. They brought with them strong Indian
connections within their song and dance. (messynessy, 2014) This was the time of Ferdinand and
Isabella, Catholic Monarchs that were determined to remove Muslims and Jews and the gypsies
where caught up in the persecution. There were very strict laws, gypsies where forbidden to

Imagery in Macbeth Essay
Imagery in Macbeth
Shakespeare s powerful imagery has never been more apparent than in Macbeth.
He begins the play with a startling image of three witches chanting in a furious
thunderstorm, Fair is foul, and foul is fair. Hover through the fog and filthy air
(1.1.10 11). The eerie chanting creates a dark, mysterious tone that leaves the reader
feeling uncomfortable and expecting odd and evil things to happen. Later, when
Macbeth and Banquo come across the three weird sisters, the underlying evil creeps back
up when Macbeth says, So foul and fair a day I have not seen, and Banquo comments,
What are these So withered, and so wild in their attire, That look not like the inhabitants
o th earth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He clearly is not comfortable and the
tone is somber and depressing. Lady Macbeth does not seem to share her husband s
anxiety, but it continues to show when he says, How is t with me that every noise appalls
me?...Will all great Neptune s ocean wash this blood Clean from my hand? No; this my
hand will rather The multitudinous seas incarnadine (2.3.57,59 61). The image of him on
his knees agonizing over his actions strikes hard and clear and the tone is one of remorse
and a wishing for a chance to change the past. The act ends with a feeling of uneasiness
as Malcolm and Donalbain leave the country, and Ross and Macduff converse about
the old king s death and the crowning of Macbeth. Macduff says, Well, may you see
things well done there. Adieu, Lest our old robes sit easier than our new! (2.4.37 38). The
image of concern for the future and the implied uneasiness hints that not all is well in
Scotland.
The somber, remorseful, and uneasy tones are effective in sending the reader on
an emotional roller coaster with the characters and changing the reader s feelings from
about each character based on how they respond to the tone. For instance, Lady Macbeth
becomes the most hated person in the play due to her complete insensitivity and all around
disregard for human life. She stands out against a background of subjects mourning their
king.

Air Quality Pollution
To begin, Hillsborough County in Florida is home to downtown Tampa which is one of the major
cities in the state. With having big cities in your local areas comes with some side effects. Tampa is
related to many air quality issues in the state. Tampa is a continuously growing city, as people
relocate to the area, many things must happen to accommodate the growth in population. Most of
which contributes to of the air quality standards in our area because of the need for additional
roads, and numerous new housing developments to be built, increasing the amount of power plants
to power the many new houses. To continue, these contribute to massive air quality issues for Tampa
. The number of vehicles increase as more people move to the area, as well as big truck needed to
bring in good and supplies for the increased population. This is a major concern because back in
2000 Floridavoted to eliminate the emissions testing for all vehicles, by discontinuing testing there
is no way to control vehicles which expel excessive amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Issues arise in construction zones because all the big construction equipment emit lots of pollution
into our air, and by continuing to build roads and construct his rise building we are adding to the
poor air quality instead of reducing it. In addition to this earlier in 2017 Florida suffered a severe
drought, resulting in numerous wildfires spread throughout the state. This resulted in higher than

Talent Mr Ripley Analysis
In the film The Talented Mr. Ripley directed by Anthony Minghella there are four aspects in the
last scene of Peter s death, used by the director that impacts the audience by making them feel sorry
for Tom. The four aspects I feel impacted the audience the most are dialogue, non diegetic music,
voiceover and symbols and motifs.
The first aspect is dialogue. An example of dialogue is when Tom says I m going to be stuck in
the basement aren t I. aren t I. That s my... terrible and alone and dark . This is when Tom
realizes he is never going to get away from his past and that he will never have his happily ever
after because he is stuck in all this metaphorical darkness which causes him to kill peter even
though he loves him. We know that he thinks this because earlier in the film Tom mentions a
metaphorical basement where all his dark thoughts and secrets are kept and he is saying in the
dialogue that he is going to be stuck in there. This scene impacts the audience significantly well
because in the scene before the director had made it seem that Tom and Peter were going to have a
life together. But in this scene, the director puts in this dialogue to make Tom realize he cannot
have the life that he wanted because of the bad choices he had made for example killing to other
people and stealing an identity. Also this dialogue is aimed toward Peter so Tom can show his
feelings that he has not discussed with anyone else, but also this dialogue has Tom make up his
mind about

The Culture Of Spain And Spain
The following is an overview of the culture of Spain.
1. Values and attitudes
Family, including extended family is extremely important in Spanish culture and is the basis of
society. Families provide a social and sometimes financial support network. Increased
individualism is having its effect, however, as families become less close, family size decreases
and a respect for personal preference decreases the frequency of people working for their family
businesses (Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette).
General manners and customs
Spanish culture is unique in Europe, but similar enough for people to easily adapt. In Spain, men
greet each other with handshakes or hugs and women greet everyone with a kiss on both cheeks
(Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette). People verbally greet strangers in places like
elevators, shops, lockers rooms, etc. (Hendr). Dress is more formal in Spain and shorts are not
usually worn in public (Priest). When dining, it is important to keep both hands visible on the table
and use utensils to eat most things (Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette).
3. Business specific manners and customs
Spaniards conduct their business very personally. They prefer face to face contact and like to
engage in small talk to get to know the other party before beginning a business relationship. They
tend to only do business with people that have earned their trust (Spain Language, Culture, Customs
and Etiquette). Conducting business

decision makers may not always recognize that they are facing a moral issue. Rarely do decisions
come with waving red flags. Dennis Gioia was recall coordinator at Ford Motor
Company in the early 1970s when the company decided not to recall the Pinto despite dangerous
fires that were killing the occupants of vehicles involved in low impact rear end collisions. In his
information and overloaded recall coordinator role, Gioia saw thousands of accident reports, and he
followed a cognitive script that helped him decide which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The means were limited design time and reducing costs. By cutting costs, Ford knowingly created
a product which could prove dangerous and fatal to its consumers. Does Ford s ends justify its
means? Ford did create a sub compact that sold extremely well and competed fiercely with foreign
imports. The goal of the Ford Pinto was met. The costs of this win were substantial however. The
money that Ford tried to save by not recalling the vehicle was spent when Ford recalled the Pinto,
and extra was spent in compensatory and punitive damages in lawsuits. So the costs that Ford tried
to avoid were incurred anyway along with extra. A similar ethical concept to Utilitarianism is that
of Rawl s Theory of Justice. Within his theories he states that for something to be both ethical and
just it must not infringe on the basic rights and liberties of a person, nor give advantage to any
one group but to all with positions and offers available to all equally. In reference to the Ford
Pinto, the second statement is upheld. The Pinto being a relatively cheap car which was often a
starter vehicle, and as long as a person had the funds and a driver s license, they could own the
vehicle. So the design process general design itself was both fair and ethical to Rawls when
regarding the second of his two theories of justice. The first theory can be up to interpretation. The
only rights or liberties that might have been infringed upon are those of safety

Creon Antigone Analysis
In Antigone, Creon s mind is pulled in two opposite directions: His hubris, and, in contrast, his
human duty to the gods. His decision to not follow the gods decrees and the consequences of that
decision are used by Sophocles to remind the audience to stand with the gods.
Creon, the King of Thebes, produced a law in lines 222 228 that a man named Polynices could
not be buried, a law that he knew was in direct opposition to a law of the gods. When Antigone
tried to follow the gods law by burying Polynices, Creon had her locked up. Creon would have
known the laws of the gods, being Grecian perhaps even better than most, being an educated man
however, he made the law anyway. Sophoclesexample through Creon gives the audience an
example of deliberate disobedience and how easy it is to affront the gods, even if it seems like the
honorable thing to do. And Creon did think this; because Polynices was a traitor, Creon was
opposed to honoring him with burial, so inducting the law that he could not be into society. Nobility
notwithstanding, this law was against the gods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Creon instructs Tiresius (1152 1158) that not even the gods could stop his resolve to lock up
Antigone and leave Polynices corpse exposed. However, when his son, Haemon (1296), as well
as his wife, Eurydice (1412 1414), kill themselves because of Creon s decisions, he has a complete
reversal in attitude. Despite the attempt to right his wrongs (1235 1239), admitting that he could
not best or control the gods, Creon received punishments, his crimes against the gods too great.
Sophocles exaggerates the everyday occurrence of going against the gods to the audience sin order
for them to learn from Creon s example, telling them that the consequences will always find

Philippines Imperialization
The independence of the Philippines brought a new hope to the citizens that they would finally be
able to govern themselves. Imperialization from the Spanish in the 1500 s, followed by U.S. control
up until the end of World War II left the country hungry for economic resources and trustworthy
leaders. Even with independence from the United States, they were unable to escape from unethical,
elite leaders that were favored by the US government. Numerous citizens and nationalist leaders
attempted to revive the economy multiple times, yet there was always some way it would fail.
Although there were notable benefits in the aftermath of their independence, such as better

Often, the social order for most imperialized countries are for the benefit of the colonizing country
rather than the people themselves (Scipes). This held true for the Philippines, as their economy was
mostly controlled by the US. In another article, author Kathleen Weekley claims that, the American
administration tried to eradicate Filipino nationalism when it threatened US interests . By ignoring
nationalist pleas for economic reform, they treated the Philippines differently than other postwar
Asian countries; they implemented [reforms] on Japan, Korea and Taiwan, (Weekley) while putting
no effort on the Philippines. Even after their independence, the United States continued to maintain
a close relationship with the Philippine government. However, when they were in need of
resources and support post World War Two, the American government pursued plans driven for
their own self benefit. They were inexperienced with the way of the Philippines and also thad little
knowledge of it. By controlling an unfamiliar country, elites, high class members of the
government, were able to take over and abuse the power. With this abuse of power the elites wasted

Molotov Ribbentrop Pact
Molotov Ribbentrop Pact
The Molotov Ribbentrop Pact, colloquially named after the Soviet foreign minister Vyacheslav
Molotov and the German foreign minister Joachim von Ribbentrop, was an agreement officially
titled the Treaty of Non Aggression between Germany and the Soviet Union[1] and signed in
Moscow in the late hours of 23 August 1939.[2] It was a non aggression pact under which the
Soviet Union and Nazi Germany each pledged to remain neutral in the event that either nation were
attacked by a third party. It remained in effect until 22 June 1941, when Germany invaded the
Soviet Union.
In addition to stipulations of non aggression, the treaty included a secret protocol dividing Northern

countries occurred from late 1938 to March 1939.[29] The third Soviet Five Year Plan required
massive new infusions of technology and industrial equipment.[27][30]
On 31 March 1939, in response to Nazi Germany s defiance of the Munich Agreement and
occupation of Czechoslovakia,[31] the United Kingdom pledged the support of itself and France to
guarantee the independence of Poland, Belgium, Romania, Greece, and Turkey.[32] On 6 April
Poland and the UK agreed to formalize the guarantee as a military alliance, pending
negotiations.[33] On 28 April, Hitler denounced the 1934 German Polish Non Aggression Pact and
the 1935 Anglo German Naval Agreement.[34]
Starting in mid March 1939, the Soviet Union, Britain and France traded a flurry of suggestions and
counterplans regarding a potential political and military agreement.[35] Although informal
consultations commenced in April, the main negotiations began only in May.[35] At the same time,
throughout the early 1939,Germany and the Soviet Union had discussed a possibility of an
economic deal involving industrial equipment and armament for the USSR in exchange for raw
materials needed for German war production.[36] German war planners had estimated massive raw
materials shortfalls if Germany entered a war without Soviet supply.[37] For months, Germany had
secretly hinted to Soviet diplomats that it could offer better terms for a political agreement than
Britain and France.[38][39][40]

Uncontrollable Human Desires In We By Yevgeny Zamyatin
The plot of the novel We by Yevgeny Zamyatin has a lot to due with the theme of uncontrollable
human nature being driven by desires. In the dystopian society the novel portrays, life is
drastically different from contemporary society. In short, the world went into a large war and
99.8 percent of the entire population was exterminated, and the survivors of the war created a
new society. This new society is highly totalitarianistic and controls all aspects of the citizens
lives , people are given numbers for names and almost all aspects of life are controlled by the
government. The rulers of the society are known as the United State, whose leader is known as
the Well Doer. The United State has a firm belief that all desires are irrationalities and are
mercessily targeted. And though desires are considered illegal in the society the narrator of the
story and main character D 503 experiences the overwhelming desire of love. D 503 is a well skilled
engineer, yet an unconventional individual who is constantly afraid of his uncontrollable sexual
impulses, caused by his humannature. Arguably the entire novel s plot is created because of D
503 s uncontrollable sexual feelings for the character I 330, who is a member of the
underground resistance. She leads him to join the resistance for a while, before he finds out he
has a disease called Imagination that all in all had caused him to fall in love for I 330, One word

The Canadian Governing System is not Fair or Democratic...
There are Canadian citizens who thought that the Canadian government we have is perfect,
citizens who believed that every aspect of the government was truly democratic, and citizens
who believe that government could do no wrong. Truly this group of believers has been living a
lie. In our Canadian system of government, large aspects within are far from democratic and need
to be changed. Liberal minded people will cry out for a change in order for government to serve
the people better, and on the other hand the more conservative thinkers will argue that no change is
needed because our government is efficient and considerate. However, our voting system, our

It was obvious that he would make votes in favour of Chretien s aims. However, even with his
appointed position he only very rarely showed up for work, ignoring his basic obligations as
Senator. Even when the whole of the government was in outrage at this incompetence, they could
not legally kick him out of office. There will inevitably be more incidents like these unless the
Senate is reformed. Thankfully, there are several possible ways to reform the Senate as to make it a
more democratic institute.
The Senate, undemocratic as it is, obviously needs some tweaks and changes in the system to
make it more so. The Canadian Senate should reform entirely into a triple E Senate (Elected,
Efficient, Equal). In the Triple E Senate, Senators should be elected by the voters instead of
appointed, the efficient distribution of power towards the Senate to balance out the power. This
would create a more democratic and fairer Senate that would better serve the needs of the citizens
it represents. While the Triple E Senate may not get things done nearly as quickly as the current
Senate, it would at least make the right decisions for everyone. While the Senate is a major blight
upon Canadian government, it is not the only one.
The Canadian Prime Minister presents the illusion that this so called democratic Canada is run by
the will of the people and attempts to maintain this image, yet the truth is that the power stays

Observation Of An Sociological Research
Observation is preferably one of the most commonly used methods of data collection, especially in
the sociological research. More often than not, this method is employed so as to gain the much
needed empirical information that is dependable in the sociological research undertakings. The
methodology is comprehensively employed in the sociological imagination concept as a viable tool
in the proper and reliable comprehension of social interactions.
It is in light of the above that this observation paper seeks to present my objective perspective in
the application of this definite data collection method in a view to fulfilling sociological research.
Noteworthy, the paper is presented as a qualitative description of the sociological factors in the
process of their interaction with each other in a non controlled environment. Finally, the paper
heavily adopts significant reflection of the C. Wright Mills conceptualization of the sociological
imagination and portrays the need of the observation being done with via a sociological lens.
Setting: To begin with, the observation was conducted at a public place within the university s
confines. Specifically, this was the campus centre. The timing of the observation was on a Friday
mid morning hours. This was informed by the fact that the duration is characterized by a substantial
student presence at the campus center for one reason or the other. This also meant that the

Major League Baseball Essay
Major League Baseball
Professional sports are a competition between the greatest athletes in the world. And when I go to a
game, that s exactly what I expect to see. Sports are entertainment. There is no room for purity and
respecting the limits that athletes had in the past. Modern athletes should utilize all the resources
that they have available to them. This includes steroids, which enhance an athlete s performance.
After all, performance is what really matters. The sport that has gotten the most attention on the
subject of steroids is Major League Baseball. Due to the suspected prevalence of them from the
late 80 s up until the present day, the so called baseball purists now question all the records and
achievements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Making an argument for it would also concede that steroids are worse form sports than
segregation was. The sanctity of Major League Baseball was lost long before Barry Bonds took his
first performance enhancing drug. Since when do team owners care so much about the long term
health of their players? By the time they finish playing out their careers, some can barely walk or
lift their arms above their heads due to the rigorous demands of their employer. Players are
expected to play hurt or they will be categorized as soft, and soft players do not get the same
respect from their team s owners. If a player wishes to put something into his body, it is his
choice. After all, Professional baseball players are competent adults who are capable of processing
the risk of ingesting steroids. (Peterson 2). The recent death of former baseball player and admitted
steroid user Ken Caminiti raised many eyebrows. But Ken Caminiti was also a known cocaine
and alcohol addict, among other things. His death was more attributed to that rather than his use
of steroids during his playing career. If an athlete is willing to do everything in his power to help
his team succeed, then he should not be ashamed of that. The choices made by the participants
should be exactly that, their choices. The acceptance of risk is strictly up to the user and should not
be forced upon them by a higher authority. Professional sports should be looked at for what they
are, a money making

Spring Awakening Play Theme
Spring Awakening is a rock musical set in late 19th century Germany. It follows the lives of young
teenagers (from fourteen to sixteen) as they navigate through the turmoil of their teenage sexuality.
The musical contains some explicitly mature content and themes, such as sex, conception, erotic
dreams, expressed desire for physical intimacy, physical and sexual abuse, hitting, ambiguously
consensual sex, suicide, inappropriate language such as cursing, teenage pregnancy, masturbation,
and death caused by an incorrectly executed abortion. The musical is based off of the play Spring
Awakeningwritten by Frank Wedekind in the late 1800 s. At the time, it was written for the
purpose of commenting on how German culture revolved around the purpose of oppressing young
teenagers sexual desire and shaming those who were curious about sexuality. The controversial
and, at the time, problematic themes were meant to act as a wake up call to those who forced
ignorance of sexual instruction on their children. This is the reason for the significance of the
setting, at the time Germany was focused on preventing children from becoming educated on sex.
As the characters grew up, this setting was a catalyst for the tragic events that occurred in the wake
of the children being poorly informed on sex, pregnancy, and the cause of their sexual desires.
While the musical adapted from the original play does not contain the same social commentary, the
harshness of the message is still evident.

Comparing Casey At The Bat And David And Goliath
In the poems Casey at the Bat and David and Goliath there are many similarities. The first one is
that they are both undoubtedly confident. For example, in Casey at the Bat Casey is up to hit
and if he gets a home run, he will win the game for his team. So, when he is up to bat, he
purposely misses and says, That ain t my style. He does this because he just knows that he will
get a home run. In David and Goliath, David goes up to Goliath and says, I ll knock you down
and cut off your head, and I ll feed the bodies of the other Philistine soldiers to the birds and wild
animals. Then the whole world will know that Israel has a real God. This shows that David was self

For example, Casey was unsuccessful in the end while David was very successful. In Casey at

so cocky, he failed his team and was unsuccessful. In David and Goliath it says, David took
Goliath s head to Jerusalem, but he kept Goliath s weapons in his own tent. So, in the end, David
killed Goliath and was very successful. Another difference is that Casey had practice being a
baseball player while David had never fought a person before Goliath. For example, Ten
thousand eyes were on him as he rubbed his hands with dirt; Five thousand tongues applauded
when he wiped them on his shirt. Casey was obviously a well known and respected person
because his fans had seen him play before and knew he was good. In verse thirty four, David
says, Your Majesty, I take care of my father s sheep. And when one of them is dragged off by a
lion or a bear, 35 I go after it and beat the wild animal until it lets the sheep go. If the wild animal
turns and attacks me, I grab it by the throat and kill it. David had only killed animals, not people.
Killing people is going to be more of a challenge than killing animals. The last difference is that
everyone was proud of David, but disappointed in Casey. In verse fifty five, it says, After King
Saul had watched David go out to fight Goliath, Saul turned to the commander of his army and
said, Abner, who is that young man? Your Majesty, Abner answered, I swear by your life that I
don t know. Then find out! Saul told him. This shows that even the king was proud of him along
with the other Israelites. In the poem Casey at the Bat the author states, ...But there is no joy in
Mudville... This means that everyone was disappointed and there was no joy because Casey struck

because we were super loud and our substitute teacher didn t even care, other than when he asked
us if we were done with are working Are you guys done with your work over there and if not you
ll have to talk to your teacher but we were already done so we were good. Another reason why
this is one of my best memories is none of us were winning. This makes it the best because we
are all competitive and none of us were winning, Which is kind of funny because all of us were
smack talking each other about who is going to win. Yet I ended up winning and won the next
few games of UNO but they were all pretty lengthy and took us most of the hour to play. This
makes playing UNO in the middle of class one of the best memories because our teacher didn t
even care that much and that none of us were winning even though we were all competitive.
Some of my best memories that i have had in my freshman year are when my balloon popped in
the middle of class ,and when we messed with my friends plant ,and finally when me and my
friends played UNO in the middle of class. These were some of my best memories because when
my balloon popped everyone jumped out of their seats and me and my friends couldn t help but
laugh, and when we messed with my friends plant and we put a crayon in his plant and
waterboarded it, and finally when me and my friends played UNO in the middle of class and our
teacher didn t even

Pay-For-Delay Case Summary
Latest Pay for Delay Ruling Benefits California Consumers
A recent decision by the California Supreme Court is a big win for consumers. In In Re Cipro
Cases I II, the state s highest court made it more difficult for manufacturers of brand name drugs to
enter into so called pay for delay agreements, which keep lower priced generic medications out of
reach for patients.
Reverse Payment Agreements
Pay for delay or reverse payment agreements are commonly used to delay the release of generic
medications. They typically stem from patent infringement litigation brought by makers of brand
name drugs against potential generic competitors, which contest the alleged infringement or the
validity of the underlying patent. To settle the lawsuits,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, in denying an overly broad social media related discovery request, a California judge
noted that several courts have found that even though certain [social media] content may be
available for public view, the Federal Rules do not grant a requesting party a generalized right to
rummage at will through information that [the responding party] has limited from public view but
instead require a threshold showing that the requested information is reasonably calculated to lead
to the discovery of admissible evidence. Tompkins v. Detroit Metropolitan Airport, 278 F.R.D. 387,

A Worn Path Phoenix Jackson Essay
At the beginning Eudora Welty explains that in the story A Worn Path her character, Phoenix
Jackson, goes on a long journey on foot while also being very old. There are clues that she has
been on this journey several times and the purpose of it is to get medicine for her sick grandson.
We are never sure of the condition of the grandson nor do we see him as a character in the story.
In this story the path she takes what seems like more than a mile walk, but she still pushes
through all of the hardships that she comes across. She meets many characters along her walk
like a dog, hunter, lady, attendant, and the nurse. Her determination is very high, and she seeks
to get her job done no matter what happens to her. The time takes place close to Christmas,
which makes this story kind of biblical. The Bible is a good source to this story because of its
reference to Moses and his journeys. They compare Phoenix Jackson to Moses in many points of
the story. Near the beginning, she uses her cane just as Moses uses his staff to clear a path. Exodus
14:21В22 (King James Version) in The Bible shows when Moses parted the red sea to clear a path
while in A Worn Path Phoenix clears a path to safely walk across the water. Phoenix is also like
Moses because of how she seems as if she is symbolized as a shepherd and how unafraid she is with
God on her side. She puts everyone before her with herself, as show how little she cares about
what happens to her as long as it helps. She is doing

Why The Wicked Don t Care About Preferences
It was once said that since outer space was practically infinite, there was no way that alternative
universes couldn t exist. They say that s where we came from, there are endless theories from
all types of viewpoints. Some call us godsends, some call us monsters. We call ourselves people.
We didn t mean for it to happen, most of us would have prefered if it didn t. The wicked don t
care about preferences, they don t care about anything besides themselves. They weren t
thinking of anyone but themselves when they cast that spell, they weren t thinking on anyone
but themselves when they sent a world that didn t belong to them into panic. It s been years
since we arrived and so much has changed. Those of us that came over didn t age, how could
animations age? We were given human personas to help blend in, some of us tried to construct
lives knowing that we may never reach home again but, ultimately we gave up. It s rather
demotivating when you have to watch the people you care about grow older while you never
age. They changed our names, most of us. I m Cindy now, Mickey got turned into Mick. They
said that it s better this way so we don t attract unwanted attention to ourselves. That s not hard,
the country that we re trapped in has been reduced to rubble because of our villains and the most
magical place on Earth is the hell that we re forced to stay in. We got turned into targets, we ve
been branded as social outcasts and freaks, monsters; the marks on our forearms prove

  • 2. Ovariohysterectomy In Dogs Problem: Spaying a dog is a far more invasive surgery than neutering is, due to the need to enter the abdominal cavity to remove the uterus and the ovaries in a ovariohysterectomy. The act of opening the abdominal cavity increases the risk of infection in dogs due to exposing inner tissues and organs to a potentially non sterile environment. To counteract the risk of infection, many doctors preemptively prescribe antibiotics to the dogs, however, Shiloh Veterinary Hospital does not. The antibiotics usually serve the purpose of keeping the dogs infection free, but it also contributes to the evolution of antibiotic resistant diseases that are far more dangerous to the animals. Knowing which dog breeds are the most and least susceptible to infection ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Individualism In Persepolis In Marjane Satrapi s graphic novel, Persepolis, the effects of revolution and women s suffrage shapes Satrapi s individualism and the way she writes Persepolis. However, these effects could also be the reasoning for conformity throughout the nation and her graphic novel. Satrapi uses symbols such as veiling, her rebellious actions as a teen and culture to show originality. Veiling could of meant various things to women in Iranin the 1970s, some would say Satrapi does not show any significance to the veils and only uses them to show the cultural aspect of women. As well for the symbols of the cigarette, music taste, and clothing Satrapi choses to mention in Persepolis; that the author was only showing the western side of Iran in her graphic... In Persepolis there is a panel when a powerful male figure says on tv, If in fact it is really more civilized to go without a veil, then animals are more civilized than we are (Satrapi 74) suggesting that the veil was not a punishment or for segregation, but their cultured way of life. In fact, many women protested to make sure that they had the freedom to veil as they were influenced by modernized Islam by doing so. In 1979, veiling was seen as a major symbol for anti imperialism of the Islamic Revolution going on (Jelodar). Although the government was requiring women to wear veils, many were already doing it on their own to show what they stood for. Response To The Bible This is how I would respond to my friend in option one: The Bible is indeed made up of many different stories that are compiled in the sixty six books of the Bible, but they all tell one overarching story; God s story. All the stories of the Bible, while not seeming to fit together at first glance, flow together to create the story of God. From the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelation, God is there, and He reveals Himself and His plan for us through the different stories (Everyday Bible Study, pg. 3 4). The Old Testament tells us the history of humans and why we need a Savior and also points to the coming of that Savior, Jesus, whose life is recorded in the gospels of the New Testament. Because the Bible is God s story and not ours, if we begin reading the Bible expecting it to lay out specific and easily followed guidelines for our lives, we miss the point of the Bible in the first place. By cutting costs, Ford knowingly created a product which could prove dangerous and fatal to its consumers. Does Ford s ends justify its means? Ford did create a sub compact that sold extremely well and competed fiercely with foreign imports. The goal of the Ford Pinto was met. The costs of this win were substantial however. The money that Ford tried to save by not recalling the vehicle was spent when Ford recalled the Pinto, and extra was spent in compensatory and punitive damages in lawsuits. So the costs that Ford tried to avoid were incurred anyway along with extra. A similar ethical concept to Utilitarianism is that of Rawl s Theory of Justice. Within his theories he states that for something to be both ethical and just it must not infringe on the basic rights and liberties of a person, nor give advantage to any one group but to all with positions and offers available to all equally. In reference to the Ford Pinto, the second statement is upheld. In another article, author Kathleen Weekley claims that, the American administration tried to eradicate Filipino nationalism when it threatened US interests . By ignoring nationalist pleas for economic reform, they treated the Philippines differently than other postwar Asian countries; they implemented [reforms] on Japan, Korea and Taiwan, (Weekley) while putting no effort on the Philippines. Even after their independence, the United States continued to maintain a close relationship with the Philippine government. They were inexperienced with the way of the Philippines and also thad little knowledge of it. There are Canadian citizens who thought that the Canadian government we have is perfect, citizens who believed that every aspect of the government was truly democratic, and citizens who believe that government could do no wrong. Truly this group of believers has been living a lie. In our Canadian system of government, large aspects within are far from democratic and need to be changed. Liberal minded people will cry out for a change in order for government to serve the people better, and on the other hand the more conservative thinkers will argue that no change is needed because our government is efficient and considerate. Even when the whole of the government was in outrage at this incompetence, they could not legally kick him out of office. There will inevitably be more incidents like these unless the Senate is reformed. Thankfully, there are several possible ways to reform the Senate as to make it a more democratic institute. The Senate, undemocratic as it is, obviously needs some tweaks and changes in the system to make it more so. The Canadian Senate should reform entirely into a triple E Senate (Elected, Efficient, Equal). In the Triple E Senate, Senators should be elected by the voters instead of appointed, the efficient distribution of power towards the Senate to balance out the power. This would create a more democratic and fairer Senate that would better serve the needs of the citizens it represents. While the Triple E Senate may not get things done nearly as quickly as the current Senate, it would at least make the right decisions for everyone. While the Senate is a major blight upon Canadian government, it is not the only one. • 36. Spring Awakening Play Theme Spring Awakening is a rock musical set in late 19th century Germany. It follows the lives of young teenagers (from fourteen to sixteen) as they navigate through the turmoil of their teenage sexuality. The musical contains some explicitly mature content and themes, such as sex, conception, erotic dreams, expressed desire for physical intimacy, physical and sexual abuse, hitting, ambiguously consensual sex, suicide, inappropriate language such as cursing, teenage pregnancy, masturbation, and death caused by an incorrectly executed abortion. The musical is based off of the play Spring Awakeningwritten by Frank Wedekind in the late 1800 s. At the time, it was written for the purpose of commenting on how German culture revolved around the purpose of oppressing young teenagers sexual desire and shaming those who were curious about sexuality. The controversial and, at the time, problematic themes were meant to act as a wake up call to those who forced ignorance of sexual instruction on their children. This is the reason for the significance of the setting, at the time Germany was focused on preventing children from becoming educated on sex. As the characters grew up, this setting was a catalyst for the tragic events that occurred in the wake of the children being poorly informed on sex, pregnancy, and the cause of their sexual desires. While the musical adapted from the original play does not contain the same social commentary, the harshness of the message is still evident. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are never sure of the condition of the grandson nor do we see him as a character in the story. In this story the path she takes what seems like more than a mile walk, but she still pushes through all of the hardships that she comes across. She meets many characters along her walk like a dog, hunter, lady, attendant, and the nurse. Her determination is very high, and she seeks to get her job done no matter what happens to her.
