The Meaning Of Longevity
Longevity by definition means a long duration of an individuals life or the length of ones life.
Longevity can also mean thinking about means of extending and prolonging a human life as well as
living it healthy. Everyone wants to live a long and happy life. As we all grow older we try to find
methods that will prolong our lives we tend to look into changing our life style, changing our diet,
exercise that will extend our lives, and supplements and herbal remedies.
Longevity has been thought about and sought after for centuries. It has been in the storytelling
community for as long as we have recorded and documented stories. From science fiction and utopian
novels to myths and legends. The book of Genesis talks about the Garden of Eden, it wasn t until eve
ate the apple and sinned that god put death and disease on the earth. The fountain of youth is a well
known tale of longevity, a Spanish explorer went looking for a spring that said to be in Florida and
anyone who drank from it would have youth restored to there body. The Holy Grail is another story, it
is the chalice that Jesus and his disciples drank from at the last supper. The legend is anyone who had
drank from it lived an extraordinarily long life. Gilgamesh was a king from the Babylon who went for
a quest to find eternal life. He set out to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gradually introducing a routine rather than just jumping into a hard routine and not sticking to it will
benefit you most. Get an education, people who go to school and get a degree seem to increase there
chances of living longer. Having close relationships with people will help too. Being able to confide in
friends and life partners will relive stress and depression. Getting the same amount of sleep every
night and at the same times gives your body a chance to heal and regenerate. Drink water, it helps to
flush toxins out of your system. Don t smoke, I really shouldn t have to explain that

Gandhi s Use Of Nonviolent Civil Disobedience
Until 1947, the British crown ruled over the entire country of India. Indians were treated like second
class citizens below British citizens for years, even though it was their home country. Mohandas K.
Gandhi was an Indian rights activist during this time who eventually became known as the father of
Indian nationalism for his achievements in gaining Indian autonomy while averting civil war.
Although he was an activist for Indian independence, he was also an advocate for peace. Throughout
the duration of the movement, he always encouraged the protestors to never use violence or fight back
against British officers, even when they attacked them. His tactics were considered uses of nonviolent
civil disobedience, or satyagraha . Nonviolent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He started this movement after the English cloth industry put the once thriving Indian cloth industry
out of business. It was also a statement of self sufficiency, making the spinning wheel a symbol of
Indian independence. The spinning wheel is currently featured in the center of the national flag, as
well. Another example is Gandhi s Salt March. In 1930, he walked across the country to the ocean,
with his followers in tow, in order to make salt from the sea. This was a large blow to the British
government because Gandhi made the mach symbolic. British industry had a monopoly of the salt
industry and made it illegal for anyone to make salt without a special permission, so when Gandhi
made salt, he broke the law and defied the British dominance over economy and government.
Throughout all of Gandhi s protest movements, he never encouraged or resorted to violence in order to
meet an end. His philosophy of satyagraha, or nonviolent civil disobedience, sent a message. He
believed that the people who make up a country have the power, so they can bring change without

The Health Plan For Medicare And Medicaid Services
Neither the American Hospital Association (AHA) nor the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services
(CMS) had information related to the average cost to comply with one Recovery Audit Contractor
(RAC) claim denial; however, the AHA s RACTrac quarterly survey offers valuable insight as to the
RAC costs hospitals are accumulating. Of the 1,165 hospitals that responded to RACTrac s Q1 2014
Survey, managing the RAC process costs nearly 70 percent of all hospitals included in this survey in
excess of $10,000, almost 50 percent spent more than $25,000 and a little over 10 percent spent
amounts exceeding $100,000. Medicare health plans being penalized On October 12, 2014, The New
York Times reports that many of Medicare s health plans are being penalized for the improper
rejection of claims, as well as unjustified limits on prescription drug coverage. Rejections lead to
unprecedented growth in number of claim appeals A Federal Register notice, released in January 2014,
by the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals states that there has been an unprecedented growth in
the number of claim appeals. These excessive appeals exceed the adjudication resources available to
address them. The Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) supports the efforts of the Office of

Contributors to the Invention of the Digital Computer and...
During the mid twentieth century many inventions were created in America. The 1900s included
important inventions such as the airplane and telephone. Along with this time of innovation and
invention came World War II, a large impetus to create something new. The digital computer was just
one of these many inventions. The digital computer was invented in around 1940, right within the
World War II time period. George Stibitz was recognized as the father of the invention although there
were many steps leading up to the digital computer. As a few of the many features, the digital
computer s ability to do multiple functions and to have greater programmability put it ahead of its
predecessors. World War II was just another incentive to improve the computer, allowing for faster
operations and more effective cryptanalysis. Digital computers were one of the most important
inventions within its time period due to its impact on history, the many people involved, and its
advancements compared to previous devices.
Before the invention of the digital computer came many predecessors and previous inventions that
impacted the functions of the computer. A basis for the programmability of the computer came from
the invention of binary. Binary is a code in which there are two states 0 and 1 . The 0 state represents
off, while the 1 represents on. These two digits can be used to represent anything in a compact and
readable format for the computer. Charles Babbage is credited with the

Spanish Cloister
Robert Browning s Soliloquy of a Spanish Cloister reflects a resentful monk who unreasonably
despises his fellow monk, Brother Lawrence. He finds pleasure in physical appearance than on a
spiritual level. He considerably labels himself as a role model of righteousness while wrongly
condemning Brother Lawrence for his wrongdoings. In reality, the speaker ends up revealing his
confessions by attempting to accuse the monk of his own faults. One may wonder about the malice
that the speaker has towards Brother Lawrence. Could it be because he is simply jealous, or is he
insecure? The speaker finds that the more he accentuates the faults of Brother Lawrence, the more
good that he becomes. Although the poem has a lighthearted demeanor, it is a ... Show more content

mortal sin. Monks must refrain from committing a mortal sin since it is a betrayal of God. His malice

fact that he is attempting to receive aid from the Devil shows how he is desperate to hurt Brother

There are other types of safes like hidden safes and wall safes. But these safes are not recommended at

protection that the hidden safe or the wall safe provides is its invisibility. When spotted the safe can be

Oh! What A Day!
The day that Jesus invited Peter, Andrew, James and John to follow Him was perhaps their greatest
day. Now, those men had known Jesus before that day, but not as the Messiah. Andrew had been a
disciple of John the Baptist (John 1) and had heard John announce that the Messiah was already in the
midst of Israel. Two days later, John pointed out Jesus as the Lamb of God. (John 1:36) Andrew and
another disciple [probably John the apostle] left John the Baptist and spent the day with Jesus. When
Andrew learned that Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah, he found his brother, Peter, and brought him
to the Lord. (John1:37 41) Andrew was not one of the more outstanding apostles; however, it was he

Analysis Of A Christmas Story By Truman Capote
In the short story A Christmas Story by Truman Capote, the theme of friendship and its importance to
enjoy a valuable life is key to the development of the story. In this tale, a young boy named Buddy

The Road Brown V. Board Of Education Of Topeka ( 347 U.s.
Historical Setting The road to Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (347 U.S. 74 (1954)), is littered
with many Supreme Court cases that have battled for equality in education. The Fourteenth
Amendment strengthened the legal rights of newly slaves and became the stomping ground for many
Supreme Court decisions. There were six separate cases concerning the issue of segregation in public
schools that was heard and consolidated into the one case named Brown v. Board of Education. The
cases included were Brown v. Board of Education (347 U.S. 483), Briggs v. Elliott (342 U.S. 497),
Davis v. County School Board of Prince Edward County (347 U.S. 483), Bolling v. Sharpe (347 U.S.
497), Belton v. Gebhart (347 U.S. 483) and Bulah v. Gebhart, (347 U.S. 483), which discussed the
implications of segregation in public school. The Brown case decision could not have happened prior
to 1954 if these cases had not set a precedent for violations of the Fourteenth Amendment under the
equal protection clause. In the case Plessy v. Fergguson (163 U.S. 537(1896)), this case was
responsible for the separate but equal doctrine, where segregation began. In the case, Sweatt v. Painter

Genesis 2 Vs Genesis
There are indeed two stories in Genesis on how we and the world came about. The first story starts at
Genesis 1:1 and go through Genesis 2:3; the second story picks up at Genesis 2:4 and goes through the
chapter ending at Genesis 2:25. In the first story, The Creation takes six days and man and woman are
created last after all the plants and animals are created. In the second story, The Creation focuses on
one day the sixth day, the man is created first, then all the plants and animals are created, and finally
woman is created.
Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Later, in Genesis 2:4, it
seems that a second, different story of creation begins. These two stories actually describe the same
creation event. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first chapter of Genesis it presents the creation of man on the sixth day as the final point of
creation. Then, in the second chapter, the author gives a lot more detail regarding the creation of man.
People tend to claim contradictions between Genesis chapters 1 2. The first is in regard to plant life.
Genesis 1:11 records God creating vegetation on the third day. Genesis 2:5 states that prior to the
creation of man no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet
sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground.
So, which is it? Did God create vegetation on the third day before He created man (Genesis 1), or after
He created man (Genesis 2)? The Hebrew words for vegetation are different in the two passages.
Genesis 1:11 uses a term that refers to vegetation in general. Genesis 2:5 uses a more specific term
that refers to vegetation that requires agriculture, as in a person to tend to it, a gardener. The passages
do not contradict. Genesis 1:11 speaks of God creating vegetation, and Genesis 2:5 speaks of God not
causing farmable vegetation to grow until after He created man. It s easily misinterpreted in

Essay King Solomon
King Solomon one of the most influential kings in the entire bible Solomon was a wise king and was
gifted as well as punished for his transgressions on his people and God. This paper will show how
Solomon was thought to be one of the greatest kings of the bible, his contributions on the lively hood
of the Israelite people and how he was sent to bring the people into a new type of living for the people
of Israel. This paper will give a personal account on my reason for thinking that Solomon is a great
king of his time. Solomon was born the son of Bathsheba and thought to be the illegitimate son of
David. The people accepted this since Bathsheba was a prostitute, and Solomon was to be the heir of

This gift made Solomon loved by all people of his kingdom. Solomon used his wisdom to make a
decision about two women and a dead baby. This story in the bible shows how two prostitutes who
both have given birth to a child are arguing because one of the babies has died and the mother of the
dead baby wants to claim the living one. They come to see king Solomon for a judgement, he tells the
women that he would cut the baby in half so that both women would have a piece of the child.
Solomon did this so that he could see which women would have compassion for the child, who ever
showed such compassion would be the mother. The order was sent out to split the child but one
woman says not to cut the baby but to give it to the other women. With seeing this sign of compassion
towards the child Solomon doesn t cut the child but gives it to the women that would have rather lost
her child to another women than see him die. Solomon granted that woman with the child. For the way
that Solomon just knew who to give the child to had the people of Israel in awe and they perceived
that he received this wisdom from God. Solomon was an intelligent man he knew he couldn t run the
empire alone so he appointed three new members of his cabinet and an officer for every one of the
twelve tribes that Israel was split into. The tribes or districts were created to make his job easier and
the people of Israel much less quarrelsome with each other. These twelve

Ode On A Grecian Urn Essay
Essay on Ode on a Grecian Urn
In John Keats s poem Ode on a Grecian Urn, the reader is given descriptions of the urn. The urn is old
and Keats is acting as the interpreter of the urn. This essay will argue that the poem Ode on a Grecian
Urn conveys the idea that art shows an idealized human existence that cannot be achieved by humans.
In stanza two, John Keats introduces the scene of two young lovers on the urn to show idealized love.
There is a young man and woman on the Urn. The young man is listening the young woman sing.
Keats descries her voice: Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter; ... Her singing is
sweeter than any human can imagine. Thus the scene on the urn has a better vocal ability than humans
despite being mute; meaning that art shows a better human existence. Later on in the stanza Keats
states: Through winning near the goal yet, do not grieve; She cannot fade, through thou has not thy
bliss, For ever wilt thou love and she be fair! In these lines, the young man doesn t have bliss because
bliss would be catching the girl. The bliss part will only last a short period, and is not as powerful as
the emotions right before the catch. Thus the young man should not be sad that he doesn t have bliss
because he will forever love her and she will forever be beautiful. In the human world love ends and
people grow old. The scene on the urn will always show love, and the people will never grow old.
Thus art has the ability to last; therefore the

Ritual In The Lottery
The traditions and the ritual of The Lottery in Shirley Jackson s story seems to be just as old as the
town itself, specifically since most of the residents don t recall any of the old rituals, even old man
Warner, who is celebrating his 77th lottery. By the means of this, they are old fashioned in some ways
and fixed in traditions of superstitions that seemed to involve human sacrifice. The village lottery
culminates in a violent murder each year. A bizarre that suggests how dangerous rituals can be when
people follow it blindly. Before we know what kind of lottery they are conducting, the villagers and
their preparations seem harmless. They have selected a relatively pathetic man to run the lottery, and
children run around gathering stones in the town square. In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson,
Psychoanalytic theory helps the reader come to the conclusion that the townspeople are included in an
act of conspiracy. This conclusion is significant because of the refusal of the townspeople to abandon
tradition and question the lottery ritual suggests the negative consequences of blindly following evil
rituals, the randomness of persecution, and the townspeople are governed by mob psychology and
abandon their reason to act out with great cruelty.

In the much older sense of the word, saint is used to describe Catholic martyrs in the early centuries
after the birth of Christ. (Pickert, par. 2). Since the poem was written at a much later time, saintliness
is used as a general term equating moral goodness , which was essentially what saints were recognized
for. This is the concept meant by modern sense (4). In the time of the war, so long as men were
compliant and functioning members of society, they were deemed saints: mum and mild in nature. The

Modernism and Art
Modernism Typified Tradition Rejection Modernism is typified by rejection of tradition. Modernism is
a present state undertaking that comes with subsequent changes brought by innovation and change of
approaches in production and thought. Traditions as the past lifestyle and activity cannot be at the
stand with new and modern approaches of relaying similar activities and solutions. The challenges
brought by the environment have changed urgency of approach and perception of ideas in the world.
Change of ideas and approaches touch on every sector of human and animal life in the world. For
instance, modernism is characterized by abandonment of the old and outdated approaches of activity
and embracing new ideas backed by innovation and modern thought. Therefore, modernism is a
gradual adoption of the new ideas and approaches of solving the immediate and long time problems
while rejecting the old traditional ways (Harrison Wood, 2003). Definition of modernism Modernism
is referred as ways of exemplifying the modern thought, practice, and character. Modernism is a
movement that transcends from the old and traditional approaches of doing things in the universe. The
old cultures and believes among people have undergone gradual change over time. New approaches
and practices are being embraced by the human society without much consideration of the differences
brought by such changes. With time, it is pleasant to realize that the old practices and character have

Generosity In Beowulf
Hrothgar Throughout his reign as the ruler of the Geats, Beowulf is a benevolent leader bringing peace
and power to his nation as Hrothgar instructs him to do after the great warrior defeats Grendel s

only death and destruction. He tells Beowulf to learn from this and understand true value. Hrothgar
intends that this information can be carried on with Beowulf. Hrothgar was a brave and strong minded

his people. Although Hrothgar was a mighty warrior in his day, at the time when the epic story in

But Hrothgar was a savior in the form of Beowulf who is prepared to aid him by defeating the demons

This paper explores three main facets of carbon dioxide: carbon dioxide as an atmospheric threat, the
production of CO2, and the solution to its negative presence. Generally speaking, these concepts are
described by the following statements, respectively: it is a danger because it affects climate change; it

Thus, the study explores scientific insight into the aspects of carbon dioxide and reflects its spiritual
significance for responsible Christian action.
This examines the hazards, the production, and a potential solution to the looming problem of carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere. CO₂, or carbon dioxide, is a greenhouse gas that plays a significant role in
global warming. Power generation (see Figures 1 and 2) and manufacturing industries contribute to
the production of carbon dioxide. Finally an effective climate change plan should integrate emission
cuts and CCS. Releasing CO2 in the atmosphere is harmful to the environment in several ways. The
combustion of fossil fuels releases new CO₂ in the atmosphere. Fossil fuels are made of hydrocarbons.
When burned, these substances change form and enter the atmosphere as carbon based gases . The
EPA concludes that 90% of carbon gases released into the atmosphere are from the combustion of
fossil fuels. So, industrial combustion is the primary culprit of such CO₂ production (West, 2009).
Consequentially, such carbon based gases pollute the air near the earth s surface , create smog, and
increase the amounts of atmospheric greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming as
diagrammed in Figure 1 (West, 2009). Coal, for instance, does not always burn cleanly as it often
includes toxic elements (West, 2009). Thus the use of coal is hazardous for

The Importance Of The Film Inception
Planning and shooting play key roles in creating a work of art through film that has meaning and can
provoke emotions in an audience. Cinematography encompasses these tasks and other factors that
contribute to a film s production, ranging from styling variables like color and contrast to the types of
camera lenses used to camera positions used while filming. While a director or producer has the
primary voice in determining what a film will consist of, the cinematographer does more than any
other person working on the film to mold a director s vision into reality. These individuals have the
crucial task of creating and framing every visual that will appear in a movie.
There are few cinematographers who do this in as compelling of a way as the cinematographer for the
film Inception, Wally Pfister. Pfister has worked on many notable films and has been nominated for
several awards, but he won his Academy Award for Best Cinematography for the 2010 film.
Despite the controversy and debate that surround the film, one can easily see the merits of the film s
cinematography that earned Inception the Oscar. The film contains visual elements that leave the
audience in awe, as it takes the viewer into a dream world that has not been explored by many other
big motion pictures. The dream sequences we observe are in every way larger than life, yet the
cinematography makes them also seem tangible to the viewer. In the scene of the dream sequence that
takes place in Paris, Cobb (Leonardo

The Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital (BAACH) is committed to your care. Surgical weight
reduction is a major decision and should not be taken lightly.
2. Surgery and Weight Loss:
Obesity surgery helps you lose weight by changing the way your body digests and absorbs food. Your
body digests food to break down what you eat into small pieces of nutrients. When the pieces are
small enough, the cells of your body absorb the nutrients to give you energy.
Normally, digestion and absorption begin in the stomach, continue through the small intestine and end
in the large intestine, which digests and absorbs what it can and eliminates the rest as waste. Obesity
surgery involves making changes to the stomach and/or small intestine.

Music Therapy Essay
Modern medicine is the combination of modern technologies and ancient practices. Along with
technological advance in medical equipment and treatment, using music to connect to patients is still a
reliable practice. Throughout the history of healing practices, music has been used as a remedy. Music
is so groundbreaking in the fact that it actually has the ability to affect human beings in so many ways.
Music is a huge advantage in a treatment plan as it is calming, strengthening and it can be used for
both the physically and mentally ill.

This component is why it s a smarter choice then pharmaceutical drugs. Humans have a physiological
response to music. The way a person can get chills from music, the way heartbeats are effected, and
breathing are all proof of the physical response music has on human beings. Musical Therapists are
just trained to use this beneficially. They are trained to use music to elicit the desired effect on people.
From birth brains are able to process music, there s been research showing that day old infants have
the ability to notice differences in rhythmic patterns. This is why lullabies have an effect on babies,
and why being rocked rhythmically calms babies, this trick has been used with babies even before
language existed. This readiness to respond to music is why children dance and sing at such young
ages, and it s why music therapy for young children is just as productive as music therapy for adults.
Music is also strongly attached with memories. Often times people relate songs with times in their life.
Music is second to smell in this ability to stimulate memory. This quality of music can be taken
advantage of with patients who are in depressive states due to mental or physical reasoning, to bring
back happier memories or allow them to mentally be somewhere else.
There is proof behind this theory that music helps heal, it s not just a concept people choice to believe.

Essay On Revenge Of The Whale By Nathaniel Shilbrick
The novel Revenge of the Whale, as written by Nathaniel Philbrick, describes the harsh journey of a
crew aboard The Essex who are abandoned after having their ship attacked by a sperm whale. There
are three crucial parts to the Revenge of the Whale storyline; the first blood, the whale attack that split
the crew apart, and the jarring conditions near the end of the book where the crew was at the edge of
sanity.
The first scene that I would include in the movie would be the first blood that was drawn from the
whale(s) The Essex encountered. This scene is crucial for the movie because it explains how the crew
got their resources from the harpooned whale. These resources include blubber, spermaceti, and
ambergris. This situation could not be left out without changing the original story because it shows the
excitement and galavant smiles on the crew mate s faces. Also, without having harpooned and killed
the whale, the crew wouldn t have collected these items to earn money to provide for their families.

BUDO Culture

What is BUDO?
The Provenance of BUDO, KARATE
BUDO culture came into existence in Edo era, 1603 1868. Before then, BU, which means combats or

KARATE originated from an ethnic martial art in Ryukyu, which was once an independent islands
country located in southwest of Japan until integrated by Japan in the 19th century. Some skills were,
therefore, handed down mistakenly and others were lost, when being introduced into the main islands
of Japan. And that must be the reason why confusions occurred in KARATE world afterward. Since
then, KARATE had got popular among mainly college students, and despite lack of technical
understanding, and rushed to set rules for its competition. The rules were set in imitation of KENDO,
Japanese fencing. That was the birth of, what is called, SUN DOME rule which prohibits excessive
direct contacting attacks by fists and legs. However, KYOKUSHIN KARATE, one of a large number
of KARATE organizations, created the full contact style rulls. They thought that KARATE should be
BUDO involving actual combat ability, and then, said farewell to ambiguous things called KARATE s
tradition. KARATE shifted its philosophy to seeking the ability and skills as combat sports, keeping its
BUDO essence. On KARATE, every time a new group is formed, the group invents their own original
competition style and rules. On the other hand, other martial arts evolve in accordance with one settled
competition rules. That is because the significance of KARATE s existence is to

Indians were treated like second class citizens below British citizens for years, even though it was their home country. Mohandas K. Gandhi was an Indian rights activist during this time who eventually became known as the father of Indian nationalism for his achievements in gaining Indian autonomy while averting civil war. Although he was an activist for Indian independence, he was also an advocate for peace. Throughout the duration of the movement, he always encouraged the protestors to never use violence or fight back against British officers, even when they attacked them. His tactics were considered uses of nonviolent civil disobedience, or satyagraha . Nonviolent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He started this movement after the English cloth industry put the once thriving Indian cloth industry out of business. It was also a statement of self sufficiency, making the spinning wheel a symbol of Indian independence. The spinning wheel is currently featured in the center of the national flag, as well. Another example is Gandhi s Salt March. In 1930, he walked across the country to the ocean, with his followers in tow, in order to make salt from the sea. This was a large blow to the British government because Gandhi made the mach symbolic. British industry had a monopoly of the salt industry and made it illegal for anyone to make salt without a special permission, so when Gandhi made salt, he broke the law and defied the British dominance over economy and government. Throughout all of Gandhi s protest movements, he never encouraged or resorted to violence in order to meet an end. His philosophy of satyagraha, or nonviolent civil disobedience, sent a message. Medicare health plans being penalized On October 12, 2014, The New York Times reports that many of Medicare s health plans are being penalized for the improper rejection of claims, as well as unjustified limits on prescription drug coverage. Rejections lead to unprecedented growth in number of claim appeals A Federal Register notice, released in January 2014, by the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals states that there has been an unprecedented growth in the number of claim appeals. These excessive appeals exceed the adjudication resources available to address them. • 14. The Road Brown V. Board Of Education Of Topeka ( 347 U.s. Historical Setting The road to Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (347 U.S. 74 (1954)), is littered with many Supreme Court cases that have battled for equality in education. The Fourteenth Amendment strengthened the legal rights of newly slaves and became the stomping ground for many Supreme Court decisions. There were six separate cases concerning the issue of segregation in public schools that was heard and consolidated into the one case named Brown v. Board of Education. The cases included were Brown v. Board of Education (347 U.S. 483), Briggs v. Elliott (342 U.S. 497), Davis v. County School Board of Prince Edward County (347 U.S. 483), Bolling v. Sharpe (347 U.S. 497), Belton v. Gebhart (347 U.S. 483) and Bulah v. Gebhart, (347 U.S. 483), which discussed the implications of segregation in public school. • 15. Genesis 2 Vs Genesis There are indeed two stories in Genesis on how we and the world came about. The first story starts at Genesis 1:1 and go through Genesis 2:3; the second story picks up at Genesis 2:4 and goes through the chapter ending at Genesis 2:25. In the first story, The Creation takes six days and man and woman are created last after all the plants and animals are created. In the second story, The Creation focuses on one day the sixth day, the man is created first, then all the plants and animals are created, and finally woman is created. Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Later, in Genesis 2:4, it seems that a second, different story of creation begins. These two stories actually describe the same creation event. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first chapter of Genesis it presents the creation of man on the sixth day as the final point of creation. Then, in the second chapter, the author gives a lot more detail regarding the creation of man. People tend to claim contradictions between Genesis chapters 1 2. The first is in regard to plant life. Genesis 1:11 records God creating vegetation on the third day. Genesis 2:5 states that prior to the creation of man no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground. So, which is it? Did God create vegetation on the third day before He created man (Genesis 1), or after He created man (Genesis 2)? The Hebrew words for vegetation are different in the two passages. Genesis 1:11 uses a term that refers to vegetation in general. Genesis 2:5 uses a more specific term that refers to vegetation that requires agriculture, as in a person to tend to it, a gardener. The passages do not contradict. Genesis 1:11 speaks of God creating vegetation, and Genesis 2:5 speaks of God not causing farmable vegetation to grow until after He created man. This paper will show how Solomon was thought to be one of the greatest kings of the bible, his contributions on the lively hood of the Israelite people and how he was sent to bring the people into a new type of living for the people of Israel. This paper will give a personal account on my reason for thinking that Solomon is a great king of his time. Solomon was born the son of Bathsheba and thought to be the illegitimate son of David. This gift made Solomon loved by all people of his kingdom. Solomon used his wisdom to make a decision about two women and a dead baby. This story in the bible shows how two prostitutes who both have given birth to a child are arguing because one of the babies has died and the mother of the dead baby wants to claim the living one. They come to see king Solomon for a judgement, he tells the women that he would cut the baby in half so that both women would have a piece of the child. Solomon did this so that he could see which women would have compassion for the child, who ever showed such compassion would be the mother. The order was sent out to split the child but one woman says not to cut the baby but to give it to the other women. With seeing this sign of compassion towards the child Solomon doesn t cut the child but gives it to the women that would have rather lost her child to another women than see him die. Solomon granted that woman with the child. For the way that Solomon just knew who to give the child to had the people of Israel in awe and they perceived that he received this wisdom from God. Solomon was an intelligent man he knew he couldn t run the empire alone so he appointed three new members of his cabinet and an officer for every one of the twelve tribes that Israel was split into. • 17. Ode On A Grecian Urn Essay Essay on Ode on a Grecian Urn In John Keats s poem Ode on a Grecian Urn, the reader is given descriptions of the urn. The urn is old and Keats is acting as the interpreter of the urn. This essay will argue that the poem Ode on a Grecian Urn conveys the idea that art shows an idealized human existence that cannot be achieved by humans. In stanza two, John Keats introduces the scene of two young lovers on the urn to show idealized love. There is a young man and woman on the Urn. The young man is listening the young woman sing. Keats descries her voice: Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter; ... Her singing is sweeter than any human can imagine. Thus the scene on the urn has a better vocal ability than humans despite being mute; meaning that art shows a better human existence. Later on in the stanza Keats states: Through winning near the goal yet, do not grieve; She cannot fade, through thou has not thy bliss, For ever wilt thou love and she be fair! In these lines, the young man doesn t have bliss because bliss would be catching the girl. The bliss part will only last a short period, and is not as powerful as the emotions right before the catch. Thus the young man should not be sad that he doesn t have bliss because he will forever love her and she will forever be beautiful. In the human world love ends and people grow old. The scene on the urn will always show love, and the people will never grow old. Thus art has the ability to last; therefore the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ritual In The Lottery The traditions and the ritual of The Lottery in Shirley Jackson s story seems to be just as old as the town itself, specifically since most of the residents don t recall any of the old rituals, even old man Warner, who is celebrating his 77th lottery. By the means of this, they are old fashioned in some ways and fixed in traditions of superstitions that seemed to involve human sacrifice. The village lottery culminates in a violent murder each year. A bizarre that suggests how dangerous rituals can be when people follow it blindly. Before we know what kind of lottery they are conducting, the villagers and their preparations seem harmless. They have selected a relatively pathetic man to run the lottery, and children run around gathering stones in the town square. In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, Psychoanalytic theory helps the reader come to the conclusion that the townspeople are included in an act of conspiracy. This conclusion is significant because of the refusal of the townspeople to abandon tradition and question the lottery ritual suggests the negative consequences of blindly following evil rituals, the randomness of persecution, and the townspeople are governed by mob psychology and abandon their reason to act out with great cruelty. This examines the hazards, the production, and a potential solution to the looming problem of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. CO₂, or carbon dioxide, is a greenhouse gas that plays a significant role in global warming. Power generation (see Figures 1 and 2) and manufacturing industries contribute to the production of carbon dioxide. Finally an effective climate change plan should integrate emission cuts and CCS. Releasing CO2 in the atmosphere is harmful to the environment in several ways. The combustion of fossil fuels releases new CO₂ in the atmosphere. Fossil fuels are made of hydrocarbons. The EPA concludes that 90% of carbon gases released into the atmosphere are from the combustion of fossil fuels. So, industrial combustion is the primary culprit of such CO₂ production (West, 2009). • 37. Essay On Revenge Of The Whale By Nathaniel Shilbrick The novel Revenge of the Whale, as written by Nathaniel Philbrick, describes the harsh journey of a crew aboard The Essex who are abandoned after having their ship attacked by a sperm whale. There are three crucial parts to the Revenge of the Whale storyline; the first blood, the whale attack that split the crew apart, and the jarring conditions near the end of the book where the crew was at the edge of sanity. The first scene that I would include in the movie would be the first blood that was drawn from the whale(s) The Essex encountered. This scene is crucial for the movie because it explains how the crew got their resources from the harpooned whale. These resources include blubber, spermaceti, and ambergris. This situation could not be left out without changing the original story because it shows the excitement and galavant smiles on the crew mate s faces. Also, without having harpooned and killed the whale, the crew wouldn t have collected these items to earn money to provide for their families. They all coaxed and cajoled their crews with words that evoked the savagery, excitement, and blood lust associated with pursuing one of the largest mammals on the planet said an excited Nickerson (page 31, paragraph 3). Before then, BU, which means combats or fights, had existed only as ways to kill someone, or ways to climb the ladder of military success. In other words, BU had not yet combined with DO 道, spiritual and ethical values. So, that hadn t been called as BUDO, but had called as BU JITSU or BUGEI. 術 JITSU and 芸 GEI, both of them mean ways to to do something or arts of something, not including ideological and ethical ideas. KARATE originated from an ethnic martial art in Ryukyu, which was once an independent islands country located in southwest of Japan until integrated by Japan in the 19th century. Some skills were, therefore, handed down mistakenly and others were lost, when being introduced into the main islands of Japan. And that must be the reason why confusions occurred in KARATE world afterward. Since then, KARATE had got popular among mainly college students, and despite lack of technical understanding, and rushed to set rules for its competition. The rules were set in imitation of KENDO, Japanese fencing. That was the birth of, what is called, SUN DOME rule which prohibits excessive direct contacting attacks by fists and legs. However, KYOKUSHIN KARATE, one of a large number of KARATE organizations, created the full contact style rulls. They thought that KARATE should be BUDO involving actual combat ability, and then, said farewell to ambiguous things called KARATE s tradition. KARATE shifted its philosophy to seeking the ability and skills as combat sports, keeping its BUDO essence. On KARATE, every time a new group is formed, the group invents their own original competition style and rules. On the other hand, other martial arts evolve in accordance with one settled competition rules. That is because the significance of KARATE s existence is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
