Descriptive Essay About My Best Friend
You know that feeling of contentment and pure delight you get when you re around a loved one?
Well that s exactly what I feel when I m around my best friend Karah. She is a Texas native and
lived here her whole life, until she moved far, far away. That is when my whole world drastically
changed.
Karah and I have known each other for a little over 4 years, that might not sound like a long time
however it feels as if it was a lifetime. I ve never met anyone that understands me, makes me
laugh, cares about me, and loves me as much as she does. To put it another way, she s one of the
best people I ve ever met in my relatively short life. We formed such a strong connection almost
instantly, which was surprising because I would have never imagined finding someone like her was
possible.
Life was going great for both of us until one day she FaceTimed me which was not abnormal,
what was unusual was the look she had. I remember that look perfectly. She looked hurt and
worried, her eyes looked like two blue shiny marbles about to shatter, her face paler than usual,
and what s worse, she sounded sad and troubled. July 27, 2015. The day my world briefly stopped.
We re moving to Portland, Oregon she quietly said. At first I thoughtshe was joking so I chuckled,
then as the seconds passed and her face didn t flinch, I thought about what she said, but I couldn t
exactly process the information. I hoped she was kidding, but then I realized she was being
extremely serious and I

Climate Change And Life Expectancy. The Current Rate Of
Climate Change and Life Expectancy
The current rate of at which the world is being affected by climate change; one may be convinced
to believe that the earth will not be able to be inhabited by any other generation. The perfect
clarification of these claims has been the reduction in the life span and the increase in the number of
diseases that are actually attacking human beings all because of climatic change. The impact of
climate change has been felt and this has had a negative impact on the lives of animals and human
beings (Baker, Judy World Bank., 3). There has been a huge debate on whether climatic change is
responsible for the decline in the life expectancy among human beings as well as animals. This
essay is based on the facts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is means the depletion or destruction of this natural resources means the end of the life for this
countries hence the increase in the rate of complacency. The point also explains why developing
country usually relies on foreign aid as means of sustaining their own economies.
Initially animals used to have very long time span in that goats or even cattle could stay for
years and yet they are still very productive. This has certainly changed as result of climatic
changes. The animals used to live longer as a result of cold temperatures that used to slow down
their rates of metabolism hence the longer life span. Temperatures today are very high as a result
of climatic changes. The increased temperatures have actually led to increase in the metabolic
rate of the animals hence the reduction in the life span. This explains why animals today cannot
even live for more than five years and then remain productive all along as animals could live for
a whole decade but still remain very productive. It is believed that the presence of favorable
climatic conditions usually increase the life span of animals or even plants by more than 20
percent. This is very reason the people back in the 1700s all the way to the late 1800s used to live
long and they were not really exposed to the kind of diseases that people are currently exposed to
(Letcher, T. M, 49).
One of the main factors that have actually led to the reduction in the life expectancy

Integrating Burns And Infection Control
Integrating Burns and Infection Control
Abstract:
An understanding of the structure of the integumentary system will assist in understanding how
burn injuries affect the entire human body. The skin preforms anatomical and physiological
functions which are essential to life. Damage to this system has the potential to cause irreversible
chain reactions and wide spread systemic collapse that can lead to death. DermNet NZ (2006)
Introduction:
Burns are an everyday occurrence in the New Zealand context. There is a considerable amount of
documentation outlining the causes and the effects on New Zealand society. This documentation
highlights a concern that children number highly in the statistics. What follows is a brief outline of
the incidence of burns in New Zealand and the pathological effects of burns on the human body in
general, followed by how attending emergency crew would deal with a burn victim.
______________________________________________________________________
The incidence pattern of burn injuries in the NZ context is presented in the Accident
Compensation Committees report of 2006 titled, Management of Burns and Scalds in Primary
Care. It states burn related accidents are primarily a result of accidents within the home. Of those
incidents children under the age of five are at the highest risk. A child of Maori ethnicity has an
increased risk especially if they are under five years. On average about 475 children under 15 years
are admitted to hospital every

Franklin D Roosevelt Biography Summary
In the excerpt, Franklin D. Roosevelt s Biography , the video Disney the American Presidents:
Franklin D. Roosevelt , and the article Biography Franklin D. Roosevelt , it explains how
Roosevelt turned out to be very successful even though he had been elected during a tough time
period. He needed to make the economy grow again so the people from the United Statesof America
could trust their president. His task was very difficult which involved helping people in need and
providing jobs for them. FDR made the right decision in perservering through his hardships to help
the economy grow and the citizens who believe in him.
The excerpt, discusses how FDRВґs presidency helped billions of people survive and get America
back on its feet again. Despite the courageous efforts to overcome his crippling illness, he never
regained the use of his legs (4). Roosevelt was diagnosed with polio, which crippled his leg and
did not allow him to walk. This gave him the idea of not giving up, so he decided to establish a

Although he had been struck by polio as an adult, Roosevelt refused to give up his political
career (2). Roosevelt developed a terrible disease, but press corps worked with him so he could
present the image of a president. All of his political abilities allowed him to be elected for four
terms, which is an unexpected event. Roosevelt converted retreat into advance through his New
Deal programs, addressing poverty, unemployment, and the floundering economy (4). Roosevelt
created a new kind of presidency that was much more powerful than his other method. During the
first one hundred days of FDR s presidency, Congress allowed him free reign, which gave him the
power to put through his reforms. Furthermore, Roosevelt succeeded with his new presidency, and
overcame his fears for the

Long Walk To Water Quotes
In A Long Walk to Water, Linda Sue Park tells a story about one out of a thousand Southern
Sudan lost boys named, Salva. Salva is a boy who ran away during the Southern Sudanese War.
Salva moves from country to country to get away from this war. During the war he loses touch
of his family. Salva soon escapes the war, now he s trying to find his way to safety. Salva was
able to survive In A Long Walk to Water, by having bravery, courage, and showing grit. Salva
shows bravely In A Long Walk to Water, when he crosses the river while the rebels were
shooting. Before Salva jumps in the river he had to think about if this was the only way. He
starts to second guess his decision, but soon he makes up his mind and jumps in the river and
starts to swim. In the book it states, The soldiers started shooting into the river..... Salva had no
choice he jumps into the river and begins to swim. (Chapter 13, Page 78) This quote shows an
example of survival because he has to make a do or die decision to cross the river while the rebels
were shooting and deadly crocodiles were swimming. Salva didn t have to cross the river he could
have took a different and longer trail, but he decides to cross the river putting his life at risk. That
s a way of showing bravery.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Salva makes it across the infested river full of crocodile. He didn t know what to do, so he

Crowds of other lost boys of Sudan followed him. Nobody talked about it, but by the end of the
first day Salva had became the leader of the group of 1,500 lost boys. (Chapter, 13, Page 80) This
quote shows how nobody stepped to lead these boys because nobody had the guts to lead them
but, Slava stepped up in front of these boys and said he is going to lead them to Kenya. That takes

The Basic Principle of Close Range Terrestrial Photogrammetry
The basic principle of close range (terrestrial) photogrammetry will be explained in this section.
Photogrammetry is the art and science of deriving accurate metric and descriptive information from
analog and digital images (Habib et al., 2006; Habib Ghanma Al Ruzouq Kim a; Ayman Paper A.F.
Habib, K.I. Bang, M. Aldelgawy). Wolf, 1983 defined the photogrammetryas the art, science and
technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and environment through the
process of recording, measuring and interpreting photographic images and patterns of
electromagnetic radiant imagery and other phenomena. It is obviously stated, in the definition, that
photogrammetry can be used 3D model of real objects for many areas of discipline such as
geological and geotechnical engineering, archeology, architecture, biomedical engineering, civil
engineering, and environmental science. Photogrammetry is non intrusive, cost effective, is ideal
for recording data of a complex nature, has high level of achievable accuracy, uses digital data
which results in total flexibility across a multitude of platforms, plus images may be catalog and
compared over time. The 3D data from imagery reconstructed through a photogrammetric
triangulation (bundle adjustment) technique using converging overlapping images from different
viewpoints around the area of interest.
Photogrammetry can be divided into two categories: aerial and close range (terrestrial)
photogrammetry. Aerial photogrammetry

Pastor s Report For The Laurel Church Of The Nazarene 2016
Pastor s Report for the Laurel Church of the Nazarene 2016
We have been spending some time with the verse from Luke(9:23) And he said to all, If any
man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. We
have sent the last month asking the question Are you a Fan or a follower? What makes us a
follower? What do we have to give up to be a follower? What will we exchange for our lives?
Everything we have is a gift from God. We owe him everything, including our very lives. It is
possible to give God our money, but not ourselves, or to give him lip service, but not our hearts.
A true disciple gives up all that he has in exchange for an unending life of joy and happiness with
God. Are you ready to lose all for Jesus Christ in order to gain all with Jesus Christ?
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and all my will, all that I
have and possess. You have given them to me; to you, O Lord, I restore them; all things are yours,
dispose of them according to your will. Give me your love and your grace, for this is enough for
me. (Prayer of Ignatius of Loyola, 1491 1556)
We want to be a follower of Christ. We give it all up for him since he gave it all to us. I just love
that prayer Give me your love and grace, for this is enough for me.
We have seen great things happen this year. Here is a list of items that changed the climate here.

Later Model Of God Research Paper
There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are
accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever
since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to
the end of the biblical time frame. This Godis considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once.
He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything.
The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc.
Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God
goes from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of
Tower of Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is
not present there with the people. He is apparently up, perhaps in heaven (midrash), since he states
he has to go down. Another example the book provides entails the story of the Garden of Eden. It
points out two things. First, that God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biblical scholars did not have a clear understanding of God and so they expressed themselves
in ways it is easy for us readers to comprehend. The beginning of the bible describes God in a
inferior/unsatisfactory way. A whole different way and a different model from God s being. But
the older model is not to be forgotten. Kugel says in some ways it is more sophisticated than the
later model that replaced it. I would respectfully disagree. I think the later model was more
sophisticated. From my understanding, God is everywhere at once. He is powerful and superior
and knows what is happening. I do not believe the earlier version where it states that he is only in
one place and he can so call walk from place to place. I got taught that he is not directly
perceivable but is omnipresent. This is because God causes everything that happens, to

Charles Manson Case Study
1.The members of Charles Manson s cult family were Leslie Van Houten, Bobby Beausoleil,
Paul Watkins, Catherine Gypse Share, Mary Brunner, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabain, Steve
Grogan, Patricia Krenwinkel, Charles Watson, and Squeaky Fromme. Almost all of the members
came from middle working class families and were generally happy people. Some of the
members were also very religious like Charles Watson, for example, was a leader of a church
youth group and enjoyed attending Sunday night services. The absence of a father, however, led
some of his followers into a world of experimenting with drugs and running away. Their lost,
rebellious souls found comfort in Charles Mansonwho became a father figure to them.
2.The 1960s was the decade of the Civil Rights Movement and of counterculture. The Civil
Rights Movement saw the rise of social groups, like the Black Panther Party, who had had
enough of being racially discriminated and would conduct boycotts, sit ins, and marches in
order to support their cause. Counterculture consisted of young people, known as hippies, who
revolted against government agendas like the Vietnam War, and who wanted to live in a society
that was based upon freedom and love. Manson believed that there would be a race war between
blacks and whites and that black people would come on top. It became evident to Manson that
Helter Skelter, the last final destructive war among men on the face of the earth, was not coming
and it was up to him to create it. So, Manson took advantage of the counterculture happening in the
60 s to led young people into believing the world would go to war and the only way to survive is to
stick together.
3.In an era that sought love and peace, Manson was able to successfully manipulate the emotions
of young people. Manson began his recruitment in the hippie ridden area of Haight Ashbury, San
Francisco. There, Manson was able to croon his way into the minds of the young and vulnerable.
Upon recruitment, Manson would tell his followers, while they were under the influence of LSD,
to essentially erase everything they know about society and fill their minds with his philosophies
because he was the embodiment of Jesus Christ. His followers did as he said because most of

Unit 3 Analysis Art
Learning Unit Three Analysis Unit three is comprised of chapters ten through fifteen. Within those
six chapters there are actually two different sections. Chapters ten and eleven make up the first
section about the state. Chapters twelve, thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen create the second section
about self and society. The one thing these two sections have in common is they both have to do
with people and society. Section three is about the state; how art pertains to the government and
war and how art can be used to protest the government. The title of chapter ten is Power, Politics,
and Glory. This chapters shows us how governments, especially historical governments, use art to
show off and in some cases for practical use too. One example... Show more content on

The first chapter in this section is chapter twelve Mind and Body. This chapter focuses on
humans as individuals and how artist interpret people and feelings. A good example of this is
Vincent Van Gogh s Portrait of Dr. Gachet. Van Gogh s style of painting makes the viewer really
experience the feelings of Dr. Gachet. Chapter thirteen is about Race, Gender, Clan, and Class.
This is an important topic because everyone is born with each of those and it will affect them for
their whole lives. An example that sums up this chapter is Marc Chagall s Over Vitebsk.
Chagall was exiled from Russia for being Jewish and this painting is a fictional view of his
childhood neighborhood in Russia. Chapter fourteen is about Nature, Knowledge, and
Technology. This chapter is important because those three thing are always surrounding us. An
example of art from the chapter is Andreas Vesalius of Brussels The Forth Plate of Muscles. This
artwork pertains to the chapter because this piece of art came from an old anatomy book so it
shows how art and knowledge intersect. The last chapter is fifteen, this chapter is about
Entertainment and Visual Culture. These are also topics that are always around us in today s
society. An example from the book is a scene from Julie Taymor s The Lion King. This is a well
known movie that was reimagined as a play which give the audience a new

Frederick Douglass, An American Slave
Frederick Douglass is well known for many of his literary achievements. He is best known, now,
as a writer. As a writer, Frederick Douglass shined. As a speaker, he was the best. There was no
abolitionist, black or white, that was more for his speaking skills. (McFeely, 206) So impressive
were Frederick Douglass s oratorical and intellectual abilities that opponents refused to believe
that he had been a slave and alleged that he was a impostor brought up on the public by the
abolitionists. In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An
American Slave (1845), which he revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the
title Life and Times Of Frederick Douglass. (Graves, 52 ) Frederick s oratory skills left the largest
impact on Civil War time period literature. Douglass s most significant autobiographical works
include: Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My
Freedom: and Life And Times Of Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same
person, and share a similar message, but are written by Frederick at different times of his life,
looking at the past in different ways. In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, Douglass
used a simple, yet educated way to show how he felt as a slave growing up in Maryland. He
describes in the Narrative I have often been so pinched with hunger as to dispute with old Nep, the

Charles Guiteau
Charles Julius Guiteau, writer, lawyer, preacher. He was born in Freeport Illinois September 8,
1841, the fourth of six children. After failing his attempt to go to the university of Michigan, he
joined the controversial religious sect his father was also in but soon left. After also failing to
become a writer he went back to theology and then to politics. Also, he is the assassin who killed
James Garfield, President of the United States.
In 1850 he and his family moved to Wisconsin where he lived for 5 years until his mother died. He
moved with his father back to Freeport. While he was a young man he got $1,000 of inheritance
money from his Grandfather and went to Michigan in an attempt to join the University of Michigan.

He did not know much about guns but did know that he would need a high caliber gun. He
decided to get a .442 Webley caliber British Bulldog revolver and decided he wanted to get one
with ivory grips as opposed to wooden ones so it would look good in the museum. The gun cost
$16 but the store owner gave him it for $15. The first time Charles fired the gun the recoil almost
knocked him over so he spent a few weeks practicing his aim and stalking Garfield.
On July 2, 1881 Charles waited for Garfield at the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Station. He
got his shoes shined, paced, and engaged a cab to take him to jail. Garfield entered the station
expecting a vacation, he was shot twice. The second bullet pierced the lumbar vertebra but missed
his spinal cord. Charles cried out I am a Stalwart of the Stalwarts. ... [Chester A.] Arthur is

from the doctor using unwashed hands and non sterilized equipment) Garfield died. Many
modern Physicians say that if Garfield had been treated with clean equipment, he would not have

would have lived.

The Bolsheviks and the Tragedy of the October Revolution...
The Bolsheviks and the Tragedy of the October Revolution
The majority of the people are with us. The majority of the working and oppressed people all over
the world are with us. Ours is the cause of justice. Our victory is assured. 1
October was a classic coup d Г©tat, the capture of governmental power by a small minority, carried
out without mass engagement. 2
The October Revolution was perhaps the most momentous event of the twentieth century. It led to
the creation of the Soviet Union, the first avowedly Communist nation in history, which was to
become a global superpower, an inspiration to many, an object of the hatred of many more. Possibly
more important was the role the memory of the October Revolution played in the ... Show more

The October Revolution was interpreted quite differently by those hostile to the Communist
leaders of the Soviet Union. In their top down histories of the Russian Revolution the common
people appeared as the passive objects of the evil machinations of the Bolsheviks. 4 The
Bolsheviks cynically adopted populist and anarchist slogans in order to recruit the masses as foot
soldiers in their own quest for power. If any apparent support for the October Revolution was seen
among the masses, it was the product of ignorance, skilled propaganda and a supple improvisation
by the Bolsheviks themselves, who transformed their elite operation into a temporary mass
organization 5 to seduce the Russian masses. The socialist reality of October was imaginary, and
the Revolution itself was an amateur police operation masked with expert propaganda to give an
appearance of proletarian legitimacy 6
Both of these interpretations are heavily politicized. The former s purpose was to establish the
legitimacy of the Soviet Union as the genuine embodiment of the will of the Russian Proletariat, the
authentic People s State. The latter was meant to strip the USSR of that legitimacy and expose the
oppressive and unpopular dictatorship that ruled the country with an iron fist. As is not uncommon
in such situations, both of these interpretations

The Past And Future
Interrogative Suggestibility: Remolding the Past to Shape the Future In the court of law, a
confession is both a white knight for the prosecution and a nail in the coffin for the defense. These
confessions validity often go unquestioned, and, once their statement has been penned, the accused
s fate is usually sealed before they enter the courtroom. Confessions are often generated through the
interrogationprocess, and recent research has shown that law enforcement officials have the ability
to alter and even plant a memory in a subject s mind through interrogative suggestibility, which is
defined as the extent to which, within a closed social interaction, people come to accept messages
communicated during formal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most popular and effective of these approaches is the supplementation of false
information into a scenario that the person being questioned was a part of (Wade, Green, and
Nash 2010). If a person witnessed an event and is forced to recollect said event, they will likely
only remember the key details. However, when asked to recollect on the finer aspect of the
event, people will create false memories in order to fill the gap (Gerrie, Belcher, and Garry 2006).
This is evident by a recent memory test in which subjects confidently but falsely remembered 17%
of unseen information from [an] event that they were shown multiple times and asked to recollect
on it (Gerrie, Belcher, and Gary 2006 p. 689). Because it is evident that people will form their own
memories regarding supplementary information about an event they experienced, it is no stretch of
the imagination that this fact can be abused in order to form memories that suit someone else s
narrative.
An accepted explanation for the induction of false memories is taken from a popular theory
known as the Fuzzy Trace Theory of FTT (Porter and Baker 2015). This theory suggests that there
are two types of memories processes: verbatim, which traces the exact aspects of an event, and gist
traces, which follow the semantics or the connotative elements. These suggestive techniques can be
so effective that in some cases

The Number Of Individuals Who Remain Single
The number of individuals who remain single is continuously growing. In August of 2014, 50.2%
of the adult populace was single in the United States. Comparing to 1976, 37.4% of the adult
populace was single in the United States. The same trend can be seen in Israel. Since 1970, the
number of men who stayed single has doubled and the number of women who stayed single has
tripled (Slonim, Gur Yaish, Katz, 2015). Although the number of individuals who stay single is
growing, undesirable labeling of and judgment against single individuals has been acknowledged in
the United States. In a previous study, American students were asked to designate characteristics of

Younger single individuals may be seen as capable of eventually finding a partner, while the
likelihood of finding a partner declines with age. In the same study, another moderator tested was
gender. Women are thought of as having a greater longing for marriageand children than men, and
consequently it can be anticipated that the typecasting of single women would be more prominent
than that of single men. Conversely, gender was not found to affect stereotypes of singles. Single
men and women are judged negatively, equally (Slonim, Gur Yaish, Katz, 2015). Previous research
proposed that whether the single individual decides or not to stay single is a significant factor.
Nonetheless, this factor was not tested in earlier research. According to another study, individuals
are encouraged to give a good reason for the present societal, economic and political structures, by
perceiving the norm as just and genuine. These views help decrease doubt and elude intimidating
circumstances. A prediction can be made that singles that decide to stay single are refusing the
norm and induce self protective responses such as undesirable stereotypes (Slonim, Gur Yaish,
Katz, 2015). According to previous research on the feelings toward individuals who could or could
not control their outcomes, one may assume that undesirable emotions such as anger would

Physics Behind Modern 4 Stroke Engines Essay
We ve all seen them before, the mysterious chunks of metal under the hoods of our cars. They start
when we turn the key and take us where we want to go. But how does an engine work? Internal
combustion engines are a very important part of everyday life. We use them in our cars, trucks,
airplanes. boats, snowmachines, 4 wheelers, and heavy machinery. These pages will help
familiarize you with the basic concepts of how an engine works, an understanding of engine output,
and some information on how forced induction or boost increases power output.
Engine Basics
A very common variant of the internal combustion engine is the four stroke engine. These engines
have four strokes for each combustion cycle. These engines are ... Show more content on

The chemical equation is as follows.
2 C8H18 (gas) + 25 O2 = 16 CO2 + 18H2O
This equation is representative of a stoichiometric air fuel ratio (14.7:1). However under normal
driving conditions an engine will encounter lean conditions when cruising on the highway (better
milage) and rich conditions when accelerating (better power). The lean condition results in oxide
and harmful nitrogen compound production. Rich conditions result in carbon monoxide production.
For this reason a catalytic converter is used on most larger engines.
The catalyst material in a cat is in a wire mesh or honeycomb. This allows a high surface area to be
exposed to the passing exhaust gasses. The catalyst (typically platinum) converts the harmfull
nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide into nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Catalytic
converters work best when warm (as the reaction rate increases with temperature) so some car
manufacturers are putting pre cats in the exhaust manifold to convert the gasses while the exhaust
system is still warming up.
That covers the basic function of an engine fron intake to exhaust. Next we will explore the
relationship of Horsepower vs Torque.
Engine output is measured in two ways. The first is a direct measurement of engine output: Torque.
Torque is defined as the amount of mass that can be lifted a certain distance from the center of

The Importance Of Cross Culture Communication
The importance of different languages and cross culture communication are imperative when it
comes to adequate care for patients in the nursing field. The transcultural framework states that
communication is ....a continuous process by which one person may affect another through written
or oral language, gestures, facial expressions, body language, space or other symbols (Giger and
Davidhizar, 2008, pg. 20). There are many barriers in nursing when it comes to communication with
patients from different cultures. The need for an interpreter would be crucial for patient diagnoses
and outcomes. Finding the appropriate tools and resources is heavily depended on to achieve
quality health care of different ethnicities.
Model Applied to Basque Children and Families The Basque community as a whole are a very
close, tight knit family regardless if it means they are related by blood or not. The Roman Catholic
religion populates for about 94% of the Basque country. Aside from religion, activities outside the
home such as sporting events and traditional festivities throughout the year are ways they define
their culture. It is important for them to keep these going from generation to generation. Every
culture has the same framework model, but with differences depending on location geographically.
This paper explores the Basque culture and how their beliefs and values on children and family

The Purpose Of The Greenbelt Land
Summary: Green belt land refers to the land that is reserved for an open space, often around large
cities. The purpose of a greenbelt area is to protect the land around large urban areas from
urbanisation and remain reserved for forestry, agriculture and providing habitats to wildlife. By
preventing urbanisation in this area it allows for the protection of agriculture. Greenbelt areas are
beneficial to both rural and urban areas. Greenbelt areas not only provide forestry and agricultural
activities for the rural population but on the other hand provide fresh air and outdoor activities for
the urban population.

The Teleological Argument For The Existence Of God
Our textbook Philosophy: An Introduction to the Art of Wondering, states that the teleological
argument for the existence of God is based on the apparent order and design of nature and cosmos,
and on the purposive nature of evolution (Christian, 2012, p. 611). The cosmos can be explained
currently with mathematical calculations, principles that are physical and chemical in nature, and
psychobiological processes (Christian, 2012, p. 611). Living organisms have distinctive metabolic
and life cycle rhythms.... Subatomic studies have revealed the complex configurations of energy
patterns.... Cosmic processes run through ordered sequences resembling birth, life, and death
(Christian, 2012, p. 611). Thus, the teleological case follows a path or fate, such that occurrence of
life transpired from a potential edict from some higher intelligence, namely God.... Show more

Thus, there is no proof that there is only one god, instead of multiple divine beings.
If there is a God and an intelligent design of the universe, then there is no reason for the natural
disasters, illnesses, and other unexplainable events.
The universe and biological systems often display randomness.
In order to find hard data to clarify and defend the answer would be difficult, since it is hard, if not
impossible, to prove and verify that God exists. There is empirical observation, but not proven
reasoning. Significant analysis in the form of scholarly articles can be found and various thoughts
for and against the teleological argument, but not hard data. However, the teleological argument is
convincing and is probably the most popular argument in attempting to prove the existence of God.
This argument or belief has even been found to go back to the Greeks. Most religious people
today use this argument as to the existence of God. Yet, to find hard data to prove the existence of
God would be complex. We must rely on faith and commitment to our belief in

Rhetorical Analysis Of Pericles Speech
Pericles begins his speech with respect and impassivity while honoring the ancestors of Athens. I
shall begin with our ancestors, he explains, it is both just and proper that they should have the
honour of the first mention on an occasion like the present. They dwelt in the country without a
break in the succession from generation to generation, and handed it down free to the present time
by their value (Thucydides). When Periclesmentions the ancestors of the Athenians, he reels his
audience in and captures their attention. Athens is considered to be the most civilized society on
Earth at this time, but even so, the Athenians are very humble. When compared to their enemies,
such as the Spartans, Athens is much more advanced, humane, and... Show more content on

In generosity, we are equally singular, acquiring our friends by conferring, not by receiving,
favours (Thucydides). The claimed kind, favor oriented nature of Athens shown here must have
been a point of pride for the people. It contrasts against the militaristic nature of the Spartans and
the Persian Empire. This line earned praise from Pericles audience not because of his Athenian
audience, but because of the honor it gave to the fallen Athenian soldiers. At this point, Pericles
concludes his glorification of Athenian culture. In short, I say that as a city we are the school
of Hellas (Greece), while I doubt if the world can produce a man, who where he has only himself
to depend upon, is equal to so many emergencies, and graced by so happy a versatility, as the
Athenian. And that this is no mere boast thrown out for the occasion, but plain matter of fact, the
power of the state acquired by these habits proves (Thucydides). Pericles ties all of his
compliments together as if they were all one logical argument explaining Athenian superiority. His
final word on the topic was not a simple boast. He proved it with all of his speech so far. Finally,
Pericles holds authority and credibility in Athens as a

Where your lawn may have slowed its growth during the hottest and driest times of the season,
moderating temperatures and autumn rains may have rejuvenated your yard. How to mow your
lawn in the fall means implementing a modified maintenance strategy before winter settles in.

Adjust the mower height. You may have raised the mower s height in the summer to ease up on
the lawn. Now it is time to return it to its normal two inch setting. However, for the final two
cuttings of the season, set the mower to its lowest possible setting and keep it there until you store
it for the season. As for how to mow your lawn in the fall, maintain a routine through November or
whenever the grass stops growing.
4. Feed your lawn. Bring out your seed spreader and apply a weed and feed solution composed of
weed killer and fertilizer. Do this in early fall, repeating the process two months later.
5. Overseed your lawn. Your lawn is now ready for overseeding, Apply a fall grass seed such as
ryegrass to the lawn and water it lightly twice daily until the new seed takes hold and reaches
mower height. Mow your lawn in the fall only when the grass is thriving and hasn t turned dormant.
By the way, ryegrass provides a protectant cover throughout the winter and will remain present until
the permanent grass emerges next spring explains the Clemson Cooperative Extension.
6. Consider aerating. You can help your lawn breathe better by aerating it early in the fall and again
in the spring. Aerating removes thatch, loosens soil and improves drainage, helping to maintain lawn

Why Ducks In Cowville Was A Flop
Why Ducks in Cowville Was a Flop Our class play, Ducks in Cowville, was a flop. The acting
was terrible, the costumes appeared dreadful, and all the bad news about our play got out fast. It
was not just one person s fault though. We all contributed to the disaster. The terrible acting was
the main reason Ducks in Cowville was horrible. Luckily, Ben, Jill, Chris, and Feliz, the actors
who played the cows, remembered most of their lines. On the other hand, the actors who played
the ducks only had one rehearsal, so they barely remembered any of their lines! In addition, no
one could hear Enrico s solo, Oh Lonely Duck. I know it made up part of the show, but it might
have been a good thing no one could hear him. He ruined the whole song.

Roe V. Wade Analysis
I. Introduction This paper will look at arguments that scholars, especially Catherine MacKinnon and
Reva Siegel, offer in support of the view that the principle of equal protection is better than the
Supreme Court s principle of privacy related liberty as the constitutional grounds for abortion rights.
The United States Supreme Court held in Roe v. Wadethat the right of privacy also includes a
woman s right to get an abortion. Abortion policy involves women s privacy and equality (Siegel
1992). A constitutional analysis of abortion that draws on the language from the Fourteenth
Amendment of liberty and equal protection would work well with the reality that many of the key
concerns behind personal privacy arguments are like. I think that... Show more content on

Wade decision inspires many types of analyses, solutions, and criticisms. One solution is that the
Court could shift its focus in abortion cases and view abortion rights as raising issues of
inequality. This would mean to present the issue of a woman s right to take complete charge of
her life and destiny as well as of her position in society in relation to man. This approach is
probably the most appropriate solution to the dilemma in Roe because it avoids the trimester
analysis and avoids the due process

Demographics Approximately 1300 athletes from thirty seven countries competed in Olympics
game held in Los Angeles, in 1932. The games commenced on 30th July 1932 and came to an
end on 14th August 1932. This participation was considered poor when compared to other
Olympic games held before. The poor participation was due to the economic depression that was
being experienced worldwide. This made it expensive for participants to travel all the way to
California and back. For those who managed to attend, the Olympic village was located in
Baldwin Hills, which covered 321 acres (Epting, 2002). All male athletes were hosed in 500
bungalows that had a direct access to a post office, kitchens that served various cuisines, hospitals,

Initially, medals were presented on the last day of the games. Most participants did not collect
their awards because after participating on their respective games, they would go back home. In
the 1932 Olympics, medals were awarded as soon as the sport was over (Epting, 2002). A
platform was introduced for the three best performers in every category. A flag would be raised
as the national anthem of the winning category as played for each game. The second most
significant change is that women were allowed to participate in more than three events. It was
unfair that Babe had to choose only three events out of the five she was good in. Timing and
photo camera was also a new invention at the Olympic Games. This brought in more accuracy in
the games. From the games, in America, so many changes were discovered, most of which are
being used even today. More countries now are able to participate in the games unlike the 37 that
attended in the 1932 Olympic Games. The opening and closing ceremonies are also very colorful

Reading was the new outlet for my imagination and the stories I read fascinated me. They weren

books actually had the action and emotional aspects written out. And again, while my peers were
reading things about growing up, things that had morals and would teach valuable lessons (I
remember one book about a shoplifter who had to do community service at an animal shelter), I
read real fiction: Jurassic Park, Dragonriders of Pern, Lord of the Rings... Stuff of fantasy and
science fiction that let my mind stray from reality. Stuff that kept my imagination alive while I
was being forced to learn multiplication and the names of countries. Of course, my teachers
encouraged me to keep reading, as long as I wasn t doing the reading in the middle of their
lectures. But it wasn t because of their influence, however, that kept me interested in books. It
was because I loved it. It put pictures into my head and made me think. So I kept reading. But

Working as a team pays off handsomely for him. As they say, Two heads are better than one. Each

Young workers may have different work environment values than more established workers. The
distinction in values isn t really the reason for employee dissonance ,but the inability to
acknowledge the difference is. At the point when representatives neglect to acknowledge the
differences, co workers may offend each other s characters. At the point when insults happen, the
contention escalates until the point that the correct arrangement is offered and acknowledged.
Competition
Unhealthy work environment and rivalry is a reason for worker strife. Rivalry that isn t
appropriately overseen can bring about representatives disrupting or offending each other, which
makes an antagonistic workplace. Undesirable work environment rivalry debilitates teamwork and
promotes working independently.
Therefore, its natural to have such differences and conflicts of opinion at a work place but its all
about bridging the generational gap and finding a common interest and working things out.
PART B)
Our generation is the Generation Y, the cohort born between 1996 and 2010, is ready for the

convert 8 months into seconds then simply multiply it with 2.628 x 106 8 months = 8 x 2.628 x
106 8 months = 2. 102 x 107 seconds Number of Seconds in Months To convert the seconds in

Haudenosau Knee Essay
Mysteries of the Haudenosaunee
Many believe that all Native American tribes can be stereotypically grouped together and referred
to as one in the same. However, this is simply not true. Each tribe has its own language and its own
culture none were as impressive as that of the Iroquois, whom belonged originally to the
Northwestern Woodland portion of North America. In modern times they are referred to as the
Haudenosaunee or the Six Nations that comprise the Iroquois Confederacy. These nations include:
the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora (who joined in the 1800 s).
Known numbers of the Iroquois currently stand at roughly 125,000 with only 80,000 currently
residing in the United States and 45,000 in Canada. The Iroquois, ... Show more content on

Sonnet 43 By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Sonnet 43, by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, is a classic love story written to explain how she feels
about love. How Do I Love Thee, has a variety of interpretations, a multitude of symbols, follows
an iambic pentameter, and tells the reader a story. Browning does all of this in a fourteen line
sonnet that she wrote for her beloved husband. To understand this, the reader has to make
interpretations on their own. Browning writes her poetryin a way that allows the reader to see what
they choose to see. Since the poem How Do I LoveThee has different ways to understand its
meanings, it allows us to go about understanding it how we chose. The most obvious way to
understand this consists of the speaker asking the audience how they can love their beloved, and
then attempts to list the ways. The love they possess seems to be eternal and exist everywhere, and
if God will allow them, the speaker will love them after death. This interpretation comes from...

forbidden love causing her the most grief. Her love with Robert Browning was forbidden by her
father. Before they eloped and moved away, Elizabeth and Robert wrote 574 letters to each other,
explaining their love for each other in words. During this time period Elizabeth wrote a set of
poems called Sonnets from the Portuguese, this included Sonnet 43. She felt the best way to
express her love, until she could directly speak with Robert, was to write them in the form of
poems or more specifically sonnets. With this, the true meaning and understanding of Sonnet 43 is
revealed to the audience. She wanted to love a man with all of her heart, but did not know how to
express that, so she wrote sonnets

Joel Feinberg Psychological Egoism Analysis
Psychological egoism is the interpretation that humans are always inspired by self interest, even in
what seem to be acts of altruism. It claims that, when people choose to help others, they do so
ultimately because of the personal benefits that they themselves expect to obtain, directly or
indirectly, from doing so. Psychological egoism, which was widely recognized by psychologists and
philosophers states that all human actions are motivated by selfish needs to benefit themselves.
According to psychological egoists true altruismdoes not exist because the consequence of such an
act leads to an increase in personal happiness. However, Joel Feinberg does not agree with that
theory and in his essay he disagreed with the thesis that altruism... Show more content on

He would have explained to me that even though some philosopher could argue that all of our
acts are considered as selfish since the main source of our action is us therefore it does make
sense that our only motif is to obtain pleasure for ourselves. As mentioned in the Internet
Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Psychological egoists cannot establish their view simply by
pointing to the pleasure or self benefit that accompanies so many actions. After all, often self
benefit only seems to be what we ultimately desire, though a closer look reveals benefits like
pleasure are likely just byproducts while the proximate desire is for that which generates them (
Psychological Egoism). Joel Feinberg would explain that the acts that are generated to help
others even though we can receive pleasure for acting such way could be and should be
considered as an altruistic act. Pleasure can be a byproduct of a good deed but what matters is what
generated the good deed and if it s for a good reason and to help others it should be considered as
an altruistic

Senior Show Research Paper
The Senior Show is a relatively new concept at Pinecrest High School, where the seniors, and
only seniors, who are part of the theater department produce, direct, cast, and star in a single play
completely by themselves. This year the seniors chose to work on a play called Almost, Maine,
by John Cariani. The show was performed on May 12, beginning at 7:00 pm. It s a scene based
show that shows love in different lights by using the fictional town of Almost, Maine, said Hannah
Bankos. Almost was produced by Britton Phipps and directed by Bankos and Erik Bensen. Phipps
raised the money, starting with an initial budget of $250 and raising it to a final $1,100. A part of
the additional money came from the fundraiser that the seniors... Show more content on

Hakuna Matata from the Lion King, Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice, and We Are Never Ever

The Importance Of The Canadian Charter Of Rights
The Canadian Charter of Rights has been entrenched in the Constitution Act of 1982 since 1982
and affected the lives of countless Canadians ever since it was passed, with most if not all of the
effects being positive. This can be proven by the fact that the act that the act has only faced two
amendments in the 35 years it has been in effect. Furthermore, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms
has five components; Fundamental Freedoms, Democratic Rights, Mobility Rights, Legal Rights,
and Equality Rights. All of these were designed to make sure that Canadians face no
discrimination, and are not denied any basic rights. This can be seen by seeing how much the
quality of life for Canadians has increased over the time the Charter has been embedded in the
Constitution, by how much the Charter actually does protect the rights of Canadians. The first way
that the Charter has improved the quality of life for Canadians is through its section on
Fundamental Freedoms, it ensures that Canadians are guaranteed the right to express their
opinions, choose their own religion, organize peaceful meetings, and associate with any person or
group. These four subsections have gone miles in improving the comfort Canadians now
experience, starting off with the right to express your opinions, this has been a big problem for
First Nations when they were taken into residential schools and were not allowed to express their
opinions on whether they wanted to be a part of them, as in if they did they would

Types Of Personality Tests Out There
There are many types of personality tests out there. Some of them are better than others. These
tests are used to help determine the different personality types. Many employers use these tests to
help place new employees. They also use them to help determine if an employee will work out or
not. It can be important to know your own personality type. Understanding how you learn and
what type of jobs might be best for you can be very helpful in your own life. Many employers
use tests like the one found on the personality page website. One of their goals is to find
employees with the best personality for the job. Using these tests can save a company a lot of
time and effort when hiring new employees. For example, Overnight Transportation in Atlanta
found that using such tests reduced their on the job delinquency by 50% 100% (Livingston, p.
54). This is a huge drop saves them so much time and money by hiring more reliable people.
Though there are some downsides to these personality tests by employers. To get the most
accurate assessment you have to be honest when taking the test. When an employer is looking for
the best personality for the job a perspective employee has motives not to be honest. A
complicating factor is that people filling out the survey do not have a strong incentive to be honest.
In fact, they have a greater incentive to guess what the job requires and answer the questions in a
way they think the company is looking for (Livingston, p. 55). This is

Pros And Cons Of Net Neucy
Net neutrality is the basis in which all internet providers must treat data on the Internet equally and
not charge differently based on what device , website, application you use, or content you decide to
view. The recent vote in the U.S. to repeal net neutrality s guidelines is unjust because it violates 1st
amendment guidelines, gives the people less freedom, and gives Internetservice providers many
ways to meddle with data speeds and how their users use the Internet.
A repeal on net neutrality would affect people and schools with tighter budgets, leaving them
little options to access the web. The repeal would allow ...various carriers will alter their pricing
and what you get for that money , meaning that there will most likely be, bundling (e.g. social
media package, streaming video package, gaming package) as additions to basic services
(Grenoble). Additional fees for applications such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and et
cetera, will mean that depending on what Internet provider people decide to use, they will have to
pay more to use these applications and websites. People who can t afford to pay extra for these
bundles will be limited to the content they can use and access and won t have the same freedom
that people who can afford the bundles will have. In addition, not only individuals will get affected
by the repeal but also communities, especially schools. Based on there the tight budget, a school in

Malicious Prosecution
Discussion I. Can our client satisfy the first requirement for a malicious prosecution suit that
requires that the termination of the earlier suit be in the plaintiff s favor when in our client s case
their termination was due to a voluntary dismissal by the initial plaintiff who changed her mind
about her claim?
To meet the first element favorable termination a plaintiffcannot rely on a settlement of the case that
both parties agree to. Once the litigation ends by settlement there is no favorable termination for the
purpose of pursuing a malicious prosecution. A favorable termination is satisfied by abandonment
or dismissal and without any final determination merits. However there are preceding cases that

The judgment entered by the trial court on the motion to dismiss was reversed because a
termination must be in favor of the person against whom civil proceedings are brought.
To have an action for malicious prosecution, our client must prove that a favorable termination has
taken place. In the Colli case it establishes that a voluntary dismissal without prejudice of a will
contest is a favorable termination. In the Frey case it is stated that when a termination or dismissal
indicates in some fashion that the accused is innocent of wrongdoing it is a favorable termination.
Also a termination without a trial on the merits may be a favorable termination of litigation if the
circumstances indicate the innocence or freedom from liability of the defendant. In a case where
there is no adjunction on the merits the existence of favorable termination of the prior proceeding,
you must look at the facts to determine what actually occurred and whom the termination
benefitted. II. Can our client show a special injury from another earlier suit against him, as
required to have an action for malicious prosecution, when his charter boat was seized pending the
suit as allowed by state, and when his professional reputation was damaged because of the suit?
To meet the fourth element special injury a plaintiff must show a special injury from the previous
malicious suit. A special injury can be met by

The Importance Of The Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar,
which is usually around mid or late September in the Gregorian calendar. It is a date that parallels

supposedly at its fullest and roundest. The traditional food of this festival is the mooncak The Mid
Autumn Festivalis one of the two most important holidays in Chinese calendar, the other being the
Chinese New Year, and is a legal holiday in several countries. Farmers celebrate the end of the
summer harvest season on this day. Traditionally, on Mid Autumn Day, Chinese family members
and friends will get together to admire the bright mid autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes
and pomeloes together. Accompanying the celebration, there are additional cultural or regional
customs, such as eating moon cakes outside under the moon, carrying brightly lit lanterns, lighting
lanterns on towers, floating sky lanterns, burning incense in reverence to deities including Chang e,
planting Mid Autumn trees, collecting dandelion leaves and distributing them evenly among family
members and Fire Dragon Dances.e, of which there are many different varieties.
Many Asian friends will be wishing each other a happy Mid Autumn Festival on September 4, 2017.

The American Civil War
The American Civil War, which occurred between 1861 and 1865, pitted the Union North against
the Confederate South. Between 1835 and 1877, there was another Civil War occurring within the
United States. The other Civil War involved pitting the rich against the poor. One of the most
important assertions Zinn makes involves these struggles: In these books, given to millions of
young Americans, there is little on class struggle in the nineteenth century. The period before and
after the Civil War is filled with politics, elections, slavery, and the race question. Even where
specialized books on the Jacksonian period deal with labor and economic issues they center on the
presidency, and thus perpetuates the traditional dependency on heroic... Show more content on

Next, unionization was the rise of labor unions. Workers banded together for the first time, as
they felt they were being treated unjustly. They demanded higher wages and a ten hour workday.
The Lowell Girls Movement was stressed in this chapter, as Zinn really illustrated the plight of
the Lowell girls. The Lowell system was controlled by rules and regulations, and young girls
would work in the mills and live in dormitories that were prisonlike. They had extreme work
hours, waking up at four in the morning and working until seven thirty at night, and they were
fed scraps. Women began protesting and organized a Factory Girls Association, which ended up
going on strike. They held out for about a month, but they ultimately ran out of money and were
forced to return to work. The last big movement was the Great Railroad Strike of 1877. It began
with lower wages ($1.75 a day for brakemen working 12 hours), deaths and injuries among
workers (loss of limbs and the crushing of men between cars), and scheming by the railroad
companies. Strikes broke out at the Baltimore Ohio station, Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania Railroad,
Harrisburg, St. Louis, and had even made the news in Europe. The working class rioted against
unfair working conditions and wages, and tried to overcome the evils of the government. This
chapter shows how

Compare And Contrast Dog s Death And The Blue Bowl
As we go through life, we experience countless losses. Those losses include loved ones such as
family members, friends, or both pets. Some individuals covet their furry friends as family, and
when that family pet dies people exhibit the same feelings of loss as they would for a human.
However, some individuals are not as involved with their pets, and do not experience the same
emotional response to their passing. Nonetheless, the loss of a petis a memorable experience for
most people. In John Updike s Dogs Death and Jane Kenyon s The Blue Bowl, the speakers have
just lost a pet; and although their experiences are similar, their attitudes towards their pets
departure do not completely align. This essay will outline the similarities in these poems, as
well distinguish their differences. Both of these poems share the same plot: the loss of a pet
and the speakers play by play of how that day unfolded. These poems are memories and are not
written in the present which means the speakers are sharing their memories through their own
reality of the experience. Clues that indicate past speech are in words that end in ed in the first
sentence of both poems such as kicked or buried (line 1 pg 548 and line 1 pg 636). In Updike s
poem, the speaker refers to a newspaper as an object tied to the dog. Similarly in Kenyon s poem,

Vulnerable Liability Case Study
The vision of change is the roadmap of the company desires to guide the initiative for the future.
The advice is to allow the vision statement to direct the realization of change. The technique is to

Consequently, the misuse of the vision declaration is to surrender the direction and focus (Palmer,

Musical Analysis Of Cocaine
Well, I had used it a few times. I liked it as long as someone else was supplying it, like laying out
lines at a party, but not enough to spend my own money on it. In 1990 I took a job managing a
motel at three blocks north of 90th and Aurora, which people in recovery who live in that
neighborhood, jokingly refer to a, the corner of 90th and Crackistan. Having to deal with
numerous crack heads that came around the motel day in and day out left me eternally grateful
that I got clean and sober in the late 70, s before crack hit the streets. I saw the way it decimated
the greenwood community every day for a number of years.
The following excerpt is the last verse of the song Cocaine, that was a big hit for Eric Clapton in the
late 1980 s:.
If your thing is gone and you wanna ride on ... Cocaine
Don t forget the fact, that you can t get it back ...Cocaine
She don t lie, she don t lie, she don t lie ... Cocaine.
(Cale, 1976 )

and repeated it over and over like a mindless mantra. In actuality, Eric ... Show more content on

The number of methods that produce powdered cocaine and crack have a huge impact on how
they are delivered to the body. Because cocaine constricts the blood vessels that are absorbing it,
snorting is a relatively slow way to deliver it into the blood stream. Blood levels rise gradually
and don t reach a peak for about thirty minutes after snorting. In its crack form, the vapors inhaled
deliver cocaine as fast as injecting it with a needle would. The faster the rush occurs, the greater the
risk of addiction or overdose is. The rush and crash phenomenon can lead the cocaine user to keep
taking additional doses until blood levels accumulate to toxic levels. Ingesting cocaine is the least
effective route of delivery . (Kuhn, 2008, p.

Surely I mean snow tires, shovels, and snow blowers, right? While those are certainly important
things to keep in mind, I m speaking about a more common and embarrassing health occurrence

also form in other ways as well, so I would like to take some time here and discuss where they

more embarrassing than having a sore outbreak right before the office Christmas party. For
starters, many of you have heard cold sores referred to herpes in the past. No, your friends were

Creation, Destruction And Imagination In Kubla Kahn
Kubla Kahn There are likely many themes that are worth mentioning in Kubla Khan . Some of
the things are complementary to each other, while others, such as creation and destruction, are
opposites, yet are often found together. Many of the themes are positive while others are
negative. There is a sense of mystery that pervades the poem, such that the meaning is largely
left up to interpretation. Kubla Khan tells a story, yet it also seems to be trying to make a point.
Some of the more noticeable themes in this poem are creation, destruction, and imagination.
Psychological interpretations of the poem reveal a strong sexual undertone (Heninger, 358).
This, of course, contributes to the theme of creation. The poem goes, And here were forests
ancient as the hills , referring to forests that were present during the creation of the world. By
woman wailing for her demon lover! This torrid line seems to suggest the strong sexual
undertones mentioned earlier. And, of course, where there is sexual references there is often the
prospect, at least, of creation. Could I revive within me Her symphony and song . This question
seeks to determine whether the song could be sung in the manner. The song is dead, but needs to
be recreated with me, the voice of the poem. I would build that dome in air , the building of the
structure of course entails its creation. From some sort of material the dome represents a
transformation from rawness to a fully formed dome, standing on its own.

Dating back to the 1920s, the word media has been introduced due to the golden age of American

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Best Friend You know that feeling of contentment and pure delight you get when you re around a loved one? Well that s exactly what I feel when I m around my best friend Karah. She is a Texas native and lived here her whole life, until she moved far, far away. That is when my whole world drastically changed. Karah and I have known each other for a little over 4 years, that might not sound like a long time however it feels as if it was a lifetime. I ve never met anyone that understands me, makes me laugh, cares about me, and loves me as much as she does. To put it another way, she s one of the best people I ve ever met in my relatively short life. We formed such a strong connection almost instantly, which was surprising because I would have never imagined finding someone like her was possible. Life was going great for both of us until one day she FaceTimed me which was not abnormal, what was unusual was the look she had. I remember that look perfectly. She looked hurt and worried, her eyes looked like two blue shiny marbles about to shatter, her face paler than usual, and what s worse, she sounded sad and troubled. July 27, 2015. The day my world briefly stopped. We re moving to Portland, Oregon she quietly said. At first I thoughtshe was joking so I chuckled, then as the seconds passed and her face didn t flinch, I thought about what she said, but I couldn t exactly process the information. I hoped she was kidding, but then I realized she was being extremely serious and I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Current Rate Of Climate Change and Life Expectancy The current rate of at which the world is being affected by climate change; one may be convinced to believe that the earth will not be able to be inhabited by any other generation. The perfect clarification of these claims has been the reduction in the life span and the increase in the number of diseases that are actually attacking human beings all because of climatic change. The impact of climate change has been felt and this has had a negative impact on the lives of animals and human beings (Baker, Judy World Bank., 3). There has been a huge debate on whether climatic change is responsible for the decline in the life expectancy among human beings as well as animals. This essay is based on the facts ... This is means the depletion or destruction of this natural resources means the end of the life for this countries hence the increase in the rate of complacency. The point also explains why developing country usually relies on foreign aid as means of sustaining their own economies. Initially animals used to have very long time span in that goats or even cattle could stay for years and yet they are still very productive. This has certainly changed as result of climatic changes. The animals used to live longer as a result of cold temperatures that used to slow down their rates of metabolism hence the longer life span. Temperatures today are very high as a result of climatic changes. The increased temperatures have actually led to increase in the metabolic rate of the animals hence the reduction in the life span. This explains why animals today cannot even live for more than five years and then remain productive all along as animals could live for a whole decade but still remain very productive. It is believed that the presence of favorable climatic conditions usually increase the life span of animals or even plants by more than 20 percent. This is very reason the people back in the 1700s all the way to the late 1800s used to live long and they were not really exposed to the kind of diseases that people are currently exposed to (Letcher, T. M, 49). One of the main factors that have actually led to the reduction in the life expectancy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Integrating Burns And Infection Control Integrating Burns and Infection Control Abstract: An understanding of the structure of the integumentary system will assist in understanding how burn injuries affect the entire human body. • 8. The Basic Principle of Close Range Terrestrial Photogrammetry The basic principle of close range (terrestrial) photogrammetry will be explained in this section. Photogrammetry is the art and science of deriving accurate metric and descriptive information from analog and digital images (Habib et al., 2006; Habib Ghanma Al Ruzouq Kim a; Ayman Paper A.F. Habib, K.I. Bang, M. Aldelgawy). Wolf, 1983 defined the photogrammetryas the art, science and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and environment through the process of recording, measuring and interpreting photographic images and patterns of electromagnetic radiant imagery and other phenomena. It is obviously stated, in the definition, that photogrammetry can be used 3D model of real objects for many areas of discipline such as geological and geotechnical engineering, archeology, architecture, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, and environmental science. Photogrammetry is non intrusive, cost effective, is ideal for recording data of a complex nature, has high level of achievable accuracy, uses digital data which results in total flexibility across a multitude of platforms, plus images may be catalog and compared over time. The 3D data from imagery reconstructed through a photogrammetric triangulation (bundle adjustment) technique using converging overlapping images from different viewpoints around the area of interest. • 9. Pastor s Report For The Laurel Church Of The Nazarene 2016 Pastor s Report for the Laurel Church of the Nazarene 2016 We have been spending some time with the verse from Luke(9:23) And he said to all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. We have sent the last month asking the question Are you a Fan or a follower? What makes us a follower? What do we have to give up to be a follower? What will we exchange for our lives? Everything we have is a gift from God. We owe him everything, including our very lives. It is possible to give God our money, but not ourselves, or to give him lip service, but not our hearts. A true disciple gives up all that he has in exchange for an unending life of joy and happiness with God. Are you ready to lose all for Jesus Christ in order to gain all with Jesus Christ? Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and all my will, all that I have and possess. You have given them to me; to you, O Lord, I restore them; all things are yours, dispose of them according to your will. Give me your love and your grace, for this is enough for me. (Prayer of Ignatius of Loyola, 1491 1556) We want to be a follower of Christ. We give it all up for him since he gave it all to us. I just love that prayer Give me your love and grace, for this is enough for me. We have seen great things happen this year. Here is a list of items that changed the climate here. • 10. Later Model Of God Research Paper There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to the end of the biblical time frame. This Godis considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once. He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything. The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc. Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God goes from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of Tower of Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is not present there with the people. He is apparently up, perhaps in heaven (midrash), since he states he has to go down. Another example the book provides entails the story of the Garden of Eden. It points out two things. First, that God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The biblical scholars did not have a clear understanding of God and so they expressed themselves in ways it is easy for us readers to comprehend. The beginning of the bible describes God in a inferior/unsatisfactory way. A whole different way and a different model from God s being. But the older model is not to be forgotten. Kugel says in some ways it is more sophisticated than the later model that replaced it. I would respectfully disagree. I think the later model was more sophisticated. From my understanding, God is everywhere at once. He is powerful and superior and knows what is happening. I do not believe the earlier version where it states that he is only in one place and he can so call walk from place to place. I got taught that he is not directly perceivable but is omnipresent. This is because God causes everything that happens, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Charles Manson Case Study 1.The members of Charles Manson s cult family were Leslie Van Houten, Bobby Beausoleil, Paul Watkins, Catherine Gypse Share, Mary Brunner, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabain, Steve Grogan, Patricia Krenwinkel, Charles Watson, and Squeaky Fromme. Almost all of the members came from middle working class families and were generally happy people. Some of the members were also very religious like Charles Watson, for example, was a leader of a church youth group and enjoyed attending Sunday night services. The absence of a father, however, led some of his followers into a world of experimenting with drugs and running away. Their lost, rebellious souls found comfort in Charles Mansonwho became a father figure to them. 2.The 1960s was the decade of the Civil Rights Movement and of counterculture. The Civil Rights Movement saw the rise of social groups, like the Black Panther Party, who had had enough of being racially discriminated and would conduct boycotts, sit ins, and marches in order to support their cause. Counterculture consisted of young people, known as hippies, who revolted against government agendas like the Vietnam War, and who wanted to live in a society that was based upon freedom and love. Manson believed that there would be a race war between blacks and whites and that black people would come on top. It became evident to Manson that Helter Skelter, the last final destructive war among men on the face of the earth, was not coming and it was up to him to create it. So, Manson took advantage of the counterculture happening in the 60 s to led young people into believing the world would go to war and the only way to survive is to stick together. 3.In an era that sought love and peace, Manson was able to successfully manipulate the emotions of young people. Manson began his recruitment in the hippie ridden area of Haight Ashbury, San Francisco. There, Manson was able to croon his way into the minds of the young and vulnerable. Upon recruitment, Manson would tell his followers, while they were under the influence of LSD, to essentially erase everything they know about society and fill their minds with his philosophies because he was the embodiment of Jesus Christ. His followers did as he said because most of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chapters ten and eleven make up the first section about the state. Chapters twelve, thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen create the second section about self and society. The one thing these two sections have in common is they both have to do with people and society. Section three is about the state; how art pertains to the government and war and how art can be used to protest the government. The title of chapter ten is Power, Politics, and Glory. This chapters shows us how governments, especially historical governments, use art to show off and in some cases for practical use too. One example... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first chapter in this section is chapter twelve Mind and Body. This chapter focuses on humans as individuals and how artist interpret people and feelings. A good example of this is Vincent Van Gogh s Portrait of Dr. Gachet. Van Gogh s style of painting makes the viewer really experience the feelings of Dr. Gachet. Chapter thirteen is about Race, Gender, Clan, and Class. This is an important topic because everyone is born with each of those and it will affect them for their whole lives. An example that sums up this chapter is Marc Chagall s Over Vitebsk. Chagall was exiled from Russia for being Jewish and this painting is a fictional view of his childhood neighborhood in Russia. Chapter fourteen is about Nature, Knowledge, and Technology. This chapter is important because those three thing are always surrounding us. An example of art from the chapter is Andreas Vesalius of Brussels The Forth Plate of Muscles. This artwork pertains to the chapter because this piece of art came from an old anatomy book so it shows how art and knowledge intersect. The last chapter is fifteen, this chapter is about Entertainment and Visual Culture. These are also topics that are always around us in today s society. • 14. Frederick Douglass, An American Slave Frederick Douglass is well known for many of his literary achievements. He is best known, now, as a writer. As a writer, Frederick Douglass shined. As a speaker, he was the best. There was no abolitionist, black or white, that was more for his speaking skills. (McFeely, 206) So impressive were Frederick Douglass s oratorical and intellectual abilities that opponents refused to believe that he had been a slave and alleged that he was a impostor brought up on the public by the abolitionists. In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845), which he revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the title Life and Times Of Frederick Douglass. (Graves, 52 ) Frederick s oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil War time period literature. Douglass s most significant autobiographical works include: Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My Freedom: and Life And Times Of Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same person, and share a similar message, but are written by Frederick at different times of his life, looking at the past in different ways. The October Revolution was interpreted quite differently by those hostile to the Communist leaders of the Soviet Union. In their top down histories of the Russian Revolution the common people appeared as the passive objects of the evil machinations of the Bolsheviks. 4 The Bolsheviks cynically adopted populist and anarchist slogans in order to recruit the masses as foot soldiers in their own quest for power. If any apparent support for the October Revolution was seen among the masses, it was the product of ignorance, skilled propaganda and a supple improvisation by the Bolsheviks themselves, who transformed their elite operation into a temporary mass organization 5 to seduce the Russian masses. The socialist reality of October was imaginary, and the Revolution itself was an amateur police operation masked with expert propaganda to give an appearance of proletarian legitimacy 6 Both of these interpretations are heavily politicized. The former s purpose was to establish the legitimacy of the Soviet Union as the genuine embodiment of the will of the Russian Proletariat, the authentic People s State. The latter was meant to strip the USSR of that legitimacy and expose the oppressive and unpopular dictatorship that ruled the country with an iron fist. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most popular and effective of these approaches is the supplementation of false information into a scenario that the person being questioned was a part of (Wade, Green, and Nash 2010). If a person witnessed an event and is forced to recollect said event, they will likely only remember the key details. However, when asked to recollect on the finer aspect of the event, people will create false memories in order to fill the gap (Gerrie, Belcher, and Garry 2006). This is evident by a recent memory test in which subjects confidently but falsely remembered 17% of unseen information from [an] event that they were shown multiple times and asked to recollect on it (Gerrie, Belcher, and Gary 2006 p. 689). Because it is evident that people will form their own memories regarding supplementary information about an event they experienced, it is no stretch of the imagination that this fact can be abused in order to form memories that suit someone else s narrative. An accepted explanation for the induction of false memories is taken from a popular theory known as the Fuzzy Trace Theory of FTT (Porter and Baker 2015). This theory suggests that there are two types of memories processes: verbatim, which traces the exact aspects of an event, and gist traces, which follow the semantics or the connotative elements. However under normal driving conditions an engine will encounter lean conditions when cruising on the highway (better milage) and rich conditions when accelerating (better power). The lean condition results in oxide and harmful nitrogen compound production. Rich conditions result in carbon monoxide production. For this reason a catalytic converter is used on most larger engines. The catalyst material in a cat is in a wire mesh or honeycomb. This allows a high surface area to be exposed to the passing exhaust gasses. The catalyst (typically platinum) converts the harmfull nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide into nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Catalytic converters work best when warm (as the reaction rate increases with temperature) so some car manufacturers are putting pre cats in the exhaust manifold to convert the gasses while the exhaust system is still warming up. That covers the basic function of an engine fron intake to exhaust. Next we will explore the relationship of Horsepower vs Torque. Engine output is measured in two ways. The first is a direct measurement of engine output: Torque. Torque is defined as the amount of mass that can be lifted a certain distance from the center of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of course, my teachers encouraged me to keep reading, as long as I wasn t doing the reading in the middle of their lectures. But it wasn t because of their influence, however, that kept me interested in books. It was because I loved it. It put pictures into my head and made me think. So I kept reading. How Do I Love Thee, has a variety of interpretations, a multitude of symbols, follows an iambic pentameter, and tells the reader a story. Browning does all of this in a fourteen line sonnet that she wrote for her beloved husband. To understand this, the reader has to make interpretations on their own. Browning writes her poetryin a way that allows the reader to see what they choose to see. Since the poem How Do I LoveThee has different ways to understand its meanings, it allows us to go about understanding it how we chose. The most obvious way to understand this consists of the speaker asking the audience how they can love their beloved, and then attempts to list the ways. The love they possess seems to be eternal and exist everywhere, and if God will allow them, the speaker will love them after death. This interpretation comes from... • 41. Joel Feinberg Psychological Egoism Analysis Psychological egoism is the interpretation that humans are always inspired by self interest, even in what seem to be acts of altruism. It claims that, when people choose to help others, they do so ultimately because of the personal benefits that they themselves expect to obtain, directly or indirectly, from doing so. Psychological egoism, which was widely recognized by psychologists and philosophers states that all human actions are motivated by selfish needs to benefit themselves. He would have explained to me that even though some philosopher could argue that all of our acts are considered as selfish since the main source of our action is us therefore it does make sense that our only motif is to obtain pleasure for ourselves. As mentioned in the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Psychological egoists cannot establish their view simply by pointing to the pleasure or self benefit that accompanies so many actions. After all, often self benefit only seems to be what we ultimately desire, though a closer look reveals benefits like pleasure are likely just byproducts while the proximate desire is for that which generates them ( Psychological Egoism). Joel Feinberg would explain that the acts that are generated to help others even though we can receive pleasure for acting such way could be and should be considered as an altruistic act. Pleasure can be a byproduct of a good deed but what matters is what generated the good deed and if it s for a good reason and to help others it should be considered as an altruistic ... Furthermore, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms has five components; Fundamental Freedoms, Democratic Rights, Mobility Rights, Legal Rights, and Equality Rights. • 51. Musical Analysis Of Cocaine Well, I had used it a few times. I liked it as long as someone else was supplying it, like laying out lines at a party, but not enough to spend my own money on it. In 1990 I took a job managing a motel at three blocks north of 90th and Aurora, which people in recovery who live in that neighborhood, jokingly refer to a, the corner of 90th and Crackistan. Having to deal with numerous crack heads that came around the motel day in and day out left me eternally grateful that I got clean and sober in the late 70, s before crack hit the streets. I saw the way it decimated the greenwood community every day for a number of years. The following excerpt is the last verse of the song Cocaine, that was a big hit for Eric Clapton in the late 1980 s:. If your thing is gone and you wanna ride on ... Cocaine Don t forget the fact, that you can t get it back ...Cocaine She don t lie, she don t lie, she don t lie ... Cocaine. (Cale, 1976 ) The song itself does not glorify cocaine, but those who listened to it, only heard the word cocaine, and repeated it over and over like a mindless mantra. In actuality, Eric ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The number of methods that produce powdered cocaine and crack have a huge impact on how they are delivered to the body. Because cocaine constricts the blood vessels that are absorbing it, snorting is a relatively slow way to deliver it into the blood stream. Blood levels rise gradually and don t reach a peak for about thirty minutes after snorting. In its crack form, the vapors inhaled deliver cocaine as fast as injecting it with a needle would. The faster the rush occurs, the greater the risk of addiction or overdose is. The rush and crash phenomenon can lead the cocaine user to keep taking additional doses until blood levels accumulate to toxic levels. Ingesting cocaine is the least effective route of delivery . Surely I mean snow tires, shovels, and snow blowers, right? While those are certainly important things to keep in mind, I m speaking about a more common and embarrassing health occurrence called a cold sore. • 53. Creation, Destruction And Imagination In Kubla Kahn Kubla Kahn There are likely many themes that are worth mentioning in Kubla Khan . Some of the things are complementary to each other, while others, such as creation and destruction, are opposites, yet are often found together. Many of the themes are positive while others are negative. There is a sense of mystery that pervades the poem, such that the meaning is largely left up to interpretation. The poem goes, And here were forests ancient as the hills , referring to forests that were present during the creation of the world. By woman wailing for her demon lover! This torrid line seems to suggest the strong sexual undertones mentioned earlier. And, of course, where there is sexual references there is often the prospect, at least, of creation. Could I revive within me Her symphony and song . This question seeks to determine whether the song could be sung in the manner. The song is dead, but needs to be recreated with me, the voice of the poem. I would build that dome in air , the building of the structure of course entails its creation. From some sort of material the dome represents a transformation from rawness to a fully formed dome, standing on its own. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
