The main focus of my project here is going to be a short film. I’m aiming at a Horror/ Thriller genre.
Rationale: 150 words
In the past two years I have made different projects that will all come into helping me with this
project. In making the different projects such as ‘on the hour’ which was a short film that I made
last year and projects this year such as my factual and client pieces, I had picked up skills in
editing, filming and animating title sequences. In the on the hour I picked up skills on colour
grading and contrasting filters with colour grading. On my factual piece I picked up skills on
animating transition slides. The skills that I have picked up in planning, management
(organisational) and research will help benefit this product as I will be more affective when working
in these areas. I will use my title skills, editing skills and filming skills in this film project when I
create my short film. My short film from last year will impact my product as it showed me how to
use shots to convey emotion which is something I will be focusing on in this project.
Project Concept: 200 words
The concept for this project is to create three different products, the first product is going to be the
introduction to a feature length film, this would be an opening scene, preferably something fast
paced and a title intro, of artistic design. The second product will be print based, a poster for the
feature length film. The third product will be trailer for the feature length film, this will use similar
shots from the intro but unlike the intro will use dialogue to tell the story. I want each of these
products to be directly linked through colour, style and font. In research I will conduct surveys and
interviews as part of my primary research to find out what others think about how I could go about
creating this in order to get ideas. In my secondary research I will use the answers I received in
primary to search similar existing products to see how other products have gone about doing what
I intend.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed? 150 words
I will evaluate my work by making weekly reflection logs about what work I have completed in each
week, I will take about the problems throughout the week, how I resolved those problems and how
I feel about the week as a whole. After doing this for each week of the project as I move to creating
the project I will switch from weekly reflections to daily reflections, this is so that I can keep a more
detailed log of each day of production. Once I have finished my project, I start an evaluation. In the
evaluation I will separate it into a part for each aspect of the project and then summarise as a
whole if the end result is what I intended and what I would go back and improve if I had the chance
to do so.
