5) How did you
attract/address
your audience?
Front cover
The subtitle offering free tickets works to
attract my target audience as they will
want to go to gigs for free
The font of my masthead appeals to my target audience as
the style mirrors rock/grunge style and therefore links with the
music genre the magazine addresses.
My model is female. This represents the female target audience.
She is dressed in black clothing, which appeals to the social groups
that my magazine has targeted. Her outfit is respectable, therefore
making the female population seem appealing as she will not be
labelled negatively.
My model is addressing the camera. The use of direct mode of
address allows the reader to feel connected with my model and
therefore will be more attracted to the magazine, than if the model
was not making eye contact.

The price of £2 is clear and will attract the audience as
they will want to know the price of the magazine

The green coloured circle will attract the male
audience as it is a masculine colour. Also the contrast
of the reddish/purple colour scheme will make the
subtitle stand out more so the reader would be
interested in what the text says. The text addresses
the reader, with the personal pronoun ‘your’, making
the reader feel connected with the magazine. Also
the slang word ‘fav’ short for ‘favorite’ will appeal to
the teenage audience as it is similar to their dialect.

The latest
information on
certain bands will
attract my
audience as they
will want to know
the latest gossip and
will be intrigued if
they recognise and
are a fan of said
bands.

The colour scheme
will attract both the
male and female
audience as it is a
deep red/purple.
The colour mirrors
the type of colours
that rock bands
would use on
album covers etc
Contents page
This image will attract my audience as it is of a feature in the
magazine. This will allow the audience to see an image of the
singer (in this case, a member of the band Cyanide, whose
Q&A article is on page 19.
This will get my audience excited and interested in the article
so will be more willing to buy/read the magazine.
The colour scheme is consistent and matches the front cover
which makes the magazine look more professional.

Clear subtitles giving information about what is in
the issue, and the page number each feature can
be found on.

The text addresses the reader, asking them the rhetorical
question and giving them an option to subscribe below. This
would attract the audience as they will feel more involved in
the magazine.

An option to sign up to a year’s subscription is
offered at the bottom of the page, as well as the
website address to get in contact.
A funky image of one of the singers is featured at the bottom of the page. This will interest the reader as it is fun
and shows that the magazine is informal and fun to read. This model is also making the ‘devil horns’ symbol with
her hand, copying the sign from the front cover model, which will attract the audience as the genre of rock is
therefore strongly addressed.
Interesting quote above the model will draw
attention to both the text on the right hand side and
the image below. The quote is a declarative
statement, and will interest the reader as they will
want to read about her ‘obsession’

Double page
My heading is the same consistent font used
on my contents and front cover. The ‘rock’
style of the font will catch the reader’s
attention.
The question asked in this subheading will interest
the reader as they will have to read the article to
receive the answer. The subheading also hints that
the interview will give the readers an insight to the
life of Elysia, and they will be interested to read it.
The text in the main article has broken into two colours,
red for the questions and black for the answers. I have
done this as the red will draw the reader’s attention to
the question asked, and as they will be keen to find out
the singer’s response, they will continue to read. The
colours also match my colour scheme.

The name of my model is
positioned below her image and
quote. Normally her name would
be directly under the quote,
however I chose to leave a gap as
the reader will be more interested
in the image between the words. It
also makes the page look
professional.

I have chosen a quote from the interview and
created a red background under it and positioned
in in the middle of the block of text. It will therefore
will easy to read, and will jump out at the reader.
The reader will continue to read the article as they
will want to know the context of the quote.
My main image is of my model on the front cover. I have edited the
medium shot, in photo-shop, to make the image brighter and more eyecatching. Here, the model is wearing a black leather jacket, denim top
and a scarf, which would appeal to the target audience as it is a similar
style of clothing to what they’d wear. She is looking upward, towards the
quote, which would give the impression she really cares about her
profession and it also gives her a mischievous appearance which would
please the audience.
