How did I
attract/address my
audience?
Feedback from Target Audience
“The cover stands out and has cover lines which makes me want to read the article, it
interests me, the whole image of the front cover matches something I would want to read.
I like the style being shown and having „Melody‟ as the name stands out to a more
classic, not at loud rock, more mainstream and contemporary. The colour scheme all the
way through is iconic and stands out. The wild variety of fonts is fun and intriguing and
makes the pages stand out. The contents page stands out on the page and I like the
modern day twist of women in music, as a man I would still want to read the articles about
women in music. The photos are well thought out and I like how they relate to festivals or
gigs. The double page spread has an interesting article all about what rock
is, partying, music, drugs etc. however the photo isn‟t as strong as the others” – Bradley
Yates

“When I first saw all the pages of the magazine that have been created it instantly stood
out, the colours are all bright outgoing and it makes it look like there is more going on, on
the pages. The articles on the front cover and contents page are all articles I would want
to read and even though the magazine is obviously targeted at men, the product has
cleverly been made so it slyly is targeted at women as well. As the women in music
feature men would read and be interested in but also a women would be too. The images
are all strong and the final double page spread article is interesting to me. The fonts are
mostly different on all 3 pages however some stay the same but it makes it stand out. I
like how it has kept to the representation of rock genre even if it isn‟t heavy rock it has still
kept to the genre therefore interests me because I am into that music.” – Amy Kendall
Front Cover
It stands out as an iconic masthead which is what my
audience are looking for they are looking for the masthead
that will catch their eyes. The drop shadow adds a
dimension to it and the colour stands out against the main
image.
The range of font and colours with the main cover line, it makes
the cover line stand out as the main article with the colours
contrasting against each other and the font complementing each
other making it stand out to my audience. The cover line itself
stands out as it has a pull quote saying „music changed my life‟
making my audience want to know how and why she has „rocked
us away‟.

Exclusive draws the eye to the reader straight away as they want to
be the first person to read this exclusive column. The fact it is in a
weird way being on a path on a circle makes it stand out and appeal
to the reader.

The fact the cover lines relate to thing that my audience would enjoy reading for
example „Drugs, parties & music‟ it also makes the cover lines stand out as they are in a
variety of different fonts and in different colours so your eyes get attracted to them. The
red lines break it up and add another thing that my audience will see and want to read
the text by it. The other cover lines like „What's on this summer‟ and „the download chart‟
may make my audience feel by reading it they are up to date with current events and
music.
These two images attract my audience as they relate to events they would be
interested in gigs and festivals which is what my audience want to see.
Therefore implying that they will be in the magazine making my audience
want to buy it.
The main image on the front cover stands out as it looks like an iconic
rock cover, the black and white allows the colour scheme of the front
cover stand out and allows the masthead to contrast as well and makes
it have a 3D feel. The hands on the face will draw in the audience as it
is a focus point, the fact the artist is staring straight at my audience
means she is communicating to the audience. It is a photo that my
audience would see and relate to it has the style and edge that would
attract my audience.

Contents Page

I have shortened down the masthead to a logo this will attract them as it is still
iconic and they will recognise the magazine from it. The different fonts stand
out against each other and the web address and twitter will attract my target
audience to look a these pages.
All these sections of the
contents page will attract my
audience it has a article for
every aspect of my audience
the features include bands
and music interests for
example „fall out boy‟, „ac/dc‟
„downloads‟ „acts of 2013/4‟.
The women in music
integrates a female audience
to the magazine, and also
sticks to the male audience
to as they will also be
interested in the modern twist
to music. The every month
section is something my
audience will enjoy as they
will expect it every month and
enjoy reading it.

These two images will address to my
audience as it relates to music events
they like and would want to go to.

This image will address to the audience as
they will see the main image on the contents
page and see it is related to the main article
and want to read it.
Double Page Spread
The pull quote attracts my audience in
as they will read it and want to read
more of the article, they want to know
why is Lilly Allen funny with a hangover,
what they have been up to and what
parties have they been to. It address
the audience as they want to know
about the partying and the wild antics.
The I will instantly stand out to
my audience as it big and
bright on the page. Therefore
my audience will open the page
and be drawn towards it
making them want to read the
article.

„ISABELLA‟ is the heading of the article it
slyly stands out as it isn‟t meant to over
power the page because the I is meant to be
the powerful feature to attract my audience.
The main image stands
out to my audience as
she has their look the
dark out there
clothes, the crazy dark
hair and the full makeup face. She is facing
the audience so she
can connect with them.

This is the subheading it stands out as it has a mix
of fonts and colours. It gives an insight to the article
and stands out to my audience because the article is
about something that is to interest to them. It‟s about
hitting headlines and my audience wants to know
why she is hitting the headlines.

I feel that I have attracted the mode of address of my audience I have tried to
make the magazine attract and address them by including things they would be
interested in such as gigs and concerts. I have addressed the genre of rock by
the colours, images and text(cover lines, contents and the main article) which
they will like as they are the audience to the rock genre. I have also addressed
the conventions of a rock magazine as well the iconic colours that will attract
my audience and the design and layout I have created for the magazine relates
to the way I they audience want to be attracted and addressed by.
