The document describes a student's project to create an R&B music magazine. It discusses choosing the genre and name, representing the target teenage audience, comparing conventions to existing magazines, and learning new technologies like Photoshop and InDesign in the process. Market research was conducted on publishers, with the decision to partner with IPC media due to their large reach among men and women. Questionnaires informed choosing teenagers interested in R&B music aged 15-19 from socioeconomic classes C2-E as the target demographic.

Welcome to the new Mizzima Weekly !
Mizzima Media Group is pleased to announce the relaunch of Mizzima Weekly. Mizzima is dedicated to helping our readers and viewers keep up to date on the latest developments in Myanmar and related to Myanmar by offering analysis and insight into the subjects that matter. Our websites and our social media channels provide readers and viewers with up-to-the-minute and up-to-date news, which we don’t necessarily need to replicate in our Mizzima Weekly magazine. But where we see a gap is in providing more analysis, insight and in-depth coverage of Myanmar, that is of particular interest to a range of readers.
role of women and girls in various terror groupssadiakorobi2
Women have three distinct types of involvement: direct involvement in terrorist acts; enabling of others to commit such acts; and facilitating the disengagement of others from violent or extremist groups.
In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.

4. However to make my magazine different from other R&B music magazines I had to add some new things to the genre, this was vital as it gives the audience a reason to buy my magazine If didn’t do this the audience would get bored of my magazine as they would find it the same as every other music magazines. My media product has the typical conventions of an R&B music magazine as it is vital to stick to these typical elements as these elements are what connote R&B music magazines.

17. The results of my questionnaire show me that a good target audience would be teenagers who are interest in R&B music from the C2-E socio-economics as this is potentially a large mass audience. Therefore I decided to create magazine which would be aimed at this audience.
18. The reader's of my magazine will be both female and male teenagers mainly 15-19. So most of them will be high school or college students and maybe working part time. These will be teenagers who are interested in R&B music and the life's of these artists, as they will want to read the magazine and find out information about these singers. The male readers will be interested in attractive female artists and they will be the one's who look up to the male artists as role models, and vice versa for females. Example of my reader's would be ...
19. Age: 18 Profession: Student (Engineering course) Hobbies: Listening to music, watching T.V and using social networks eg: Facebook Favourite music artist's: Eminem & Christina Milian Favourite Music: Gangsta rap Farouk Patel
20. Age: 17 Profession: Student (A level's) Hobbies: T.V, going out, and using social networking sites Favourite music artist's: 50 cent and Rihanna Favourite Music: Pop, HipHop and R&B Selina Khan

22. Easy to read and memorable title for teenagers Main featured article stands out from the rest of the story's in the magazine Teenage female model, to dominate the cover which will appeal to the teenage audience, as girl’s will look up to her as role model and the male teenage audience find her attractive which makes them buy the magazine. Looking straight towards the camera to catch the audiences attention Given a chance to win a iPod, which is something that would appeal to all teenagers as they all like to keep headphones in and listen to music everywhere they go Light colours used to represent R&B and to make the model to stand out as she’s wearing dark colours Tells the audience what music genre this magazine is about straightaway, using a quick snappy phrase as teenagers don’t like reading a lot Another photo to make the magazine look more attractive Colours appeal to both male and females as pink appeals to female audience and Blue we associate with males.
23. Female model dressed very feminine (heel’s, skirt bow in the hair etc) to attract male teenage audience. Female Teenage model to attract teenage girls as they will look up to her and will want to be like her. Clear easy to read font Page numbers in a different colour so they stand out which helps the readers find the pages more quickly. Separated each section of the magazine, so its easier for the audience to find what there looking for, as they can look straight under that section instead of having to look through the whole list of pages. Different font used for the subheadings to make them stand out from the rest of the writing. Fancy font to make the page look more interesting. Title of the page (contents) is in bigger and much bolder font than the rest of the text on the page to make it stand out, so the audience know what page they are looking at. Stick to a colour theme, model’s clothes and the colours used on this page match.
24. Typed up into 3 columns. Used font which is clear and easy to read Gave the article a title (the artists name) so the reader know who this article/interview is about straightaway. Stuck to a colour theme throughout the whole article., as the model is also wearing Black. Gave the article a subheading, so the readers know what topic this article/interview is based on. Large image of the artist which dominates the article and attracts her fans. More photos to make the interview look more interesting and eye catching to teenagers as this will make them want to read it. Used colours which appeal to both male and female audience as Pink attracts females and Black is a colour we associate with male’s. Made use of pre-modifiers eg, “exclusive” to grab the audiences attention.
25. Firstly I introduce the artist, so the audience that aren't very familiar with her get to know things about her I then go straight into the interview and make the font bold where it tells the reader who is speaking, I did this by purpose to make it easier for the reader’s to understand who’s saying what. Give a little subheading before I start talking about a new topic Talk about Tazzi D’s hit records and I use adverbials of time while doing this example, “2009 was her first hit” I do this to give the readers more detailed information about her hits. Used colloquial language throughout the interview as this magazine is aimed at teenage audience so it has to be easy and interesting for them to read.

27. During this project I have learnt a lot about technologies as I had to use many different kinds of technologies Example: camera, internet and any many different programmes to edit the photographs I took for my magazine.
28. I then had to carry out a lot of research on the internet to help me understand which type of music genre would be best for my magazine. Firstly I had to use a lot of the internet as I created a blog on www.blogger.com I used this blog to help me keep track of what I was doing as all my planning etc went on here and this also helped me to organise my time well throughout the whole project.
29. Throughout my planning and production I used the programmes, Photoshop and In Design Photoshop is the programme I used to edit all my photographs. This was a programme I had never used before, so it took me a while in getting use to how to use it. However this programme helped a lot, without it I would not have been able to make my photographs look so perfect, as this programme gave the advantage of being able to brighten, add many effects, stretch, crop cut etc the photograph. InDesign is the programme I used to create my actual product. Again this was a programme I had never used before, however I found this programme easy to use and effective as the layout of the pages are quiet professional. I am happy I was given the opportunity to use this programme as it helped me create my product just how I wanted it.
30. I also got the opportunity to use a high quality camera during this project, as I had to take photographs of my friend’s who where going to be the model’s in my magazine. The photographs I took looked professional as I had to take them in the studio this really helped my photographs look like professional magazine photo’s as it allowed me to change lighting etc. I really enjoyed this experience I had never took photo’s in a actual photo shoot room before I really enjoyed this I had to tell the models how to pose and how to dress etc, Overall I had a lot of fun taking photographs for my magazine.
31.
32. Final product Preliminary task Looking at my Preliminary task and my actual final magazine cover a big difference can be seen. My final product shows I now have much better understanding on magazine conventions and that I now know how to use photoshop and Indesign properly.
33. Doesn’t have the price Photo’s not been cut properly, background can be seen Too plain, leaves too much blank space Title’s to plain, not eye catching Photographs hardly edited No main featured article all the article’s titles are typed with the same font
34. Conclusion After looking at my final product I am happy with it , as it is much better than my preliminary task so it shows me a huge improvement. I also think the colours, font’s images etc I have used connotate R&B music therefore I think my magazine would be quite successful in selling to my targeted audience. However if I had the chance to create my magazine again I would keep more up to date with it so I don’t have to rush some of the tasks.
