Drive By Daniel H. Pink Summary
In the book Drive by Daniel H Pink he talks about various things that could come in handy. Pink talks
about how people should change to Motivation 3.0 and leave behind Motivation 2.0.Motivation 3.0 is
for someone to continue with their life and have a better future with doing things that you love and
would want to do for your rest of your life. Which Motivation also talks about Type X behavior which
leads to three types of behavior autonomy mastery and purpose, this explains how people use them to
become someone better in their life and show us how that involves with Motivation 3.0. This is
something I keep in consideration, that s why I consider myself in having a Type I behavior that can
lead as well with Motivation 3.0.

babies because of how they learn things on their own. As a little girl I ve always liked helping people
because it s something nice to do. Doing this as a job would be great for me so I can learn what it

Examples Of Narrative Techniques In To Kill A Mockingbird
Narrative technique is one of the major techniques in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird. Narrative
technique is the methods that writers employ to give specific artistic and emotional impacts to the
story. Narrative s works provide an account of connected events. Narrative is synonym to a story.
Novels, dramas, fables, folk tales, short stories, poetry, and else are considered narratives. Likewise
literature, narratives are found in cinema, music, and theatre. Narrative literary technique is as well
acknowledged as literary devices. Narrative techniques provide profounder meaning for the reader and
help the reader to use imagination to visualize events. Narrative technique consists of four main
components. Moreover, it is important to identify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lee applies the three speeches in her novel, for instance the direct speech is used, when Atticus gives
his son Jem an advice, he says I d rather you shot at tin cans in the backyard, but I know you ll go
after birds. Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit em, but remember it s a sin to kill a
mockingbird (lee, Ch.10). The free indirect speech is employed, when describes the country Maycomb
was an old town, but it was a tired old town when I first knew it (lee ch.1). Furthermore, Scout is
remembering and narrating the events in the novel, therefore the reported speech is used as well. For
example in the beginning of the novel Scout reporting the event in the past, she says that When he was
nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow (lee, ch.1). The final component
is tenses, which is when the story takes place in past, present, or future. Since events in Lee s novel
are already over, the story is told in the past

Constitutional Changes After The American Revolution
Merriam Webster s dictionary defines a revolution as an, activity or movement designed to effect
fundamental changes in the socioeconomic situation. or, a fundamental change in the way of thinking
about or visualizing something. In this sense, the constitutional and social developments of the United
States of America between 1860 and 1877 amount to a drastic revolution. Previously to Abraham
Lincoln s election to the position of the American Presidency, slavery was an institution deeply rooted
in Southern American s way of life. Throughout Lincoln s terms and following his assassination,
America underwent many constitutional changes and dealt with a changing social order as well. The
most notable of these was the uprooting of the institution of slavery and the effect it had on the United
States of America. Senator John Sherman, a Republican from Ohio, gave a speech in congress in 1863
in which he discussed new banking and currency systems. In this speech, he highlighted some
revolutionary actions taken by states. He stated that, It has been the principle of states rights, that bad

based on servitude... Where is that?... Gone forever... We have revolutionized this Constitution of ours
to that extent and every substantial change in the fundamental constitution of a country is a revolution.
If one during that time could acknowledge that the events occurring between 1860 and 1877 were a
revolution, one can do so

Air Force Core Values
In the early 1990 s the Chief of staff, Merrill A. McPeak, originally posted the six core values of the
United States Air Force which consisted of integrity, tenacity, courage, patriotism, competence, and
service. It wasn t until a few years later that those six core values were merged into three. The three
core values; integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do were officially embraced by
the United States Air Force in January of 1995 in order to define the type of character expected from
those within the branch of service (Lt Col Tower, P., Lt Col Dunford, D, n.d.). Today these core values
are the three basic fundamentals of life in the family known as the United States Air Force. Every

The Air Force defines integrity as always doing what is right even when no one is looking (United
States Air Force core values, 1997). Integrity itself is built off of many different key traits; honesty,
kindness, generosity, courage, responsibility and having respect not only for others but yourself as
well. Those are just some of the key traits. I will give prime examples of each trait mentioned above
from my own personal life to help you better understand integrity. The first trait I would like to review
with you is honesty. There are many different aspects of honestly. It could be as simple as telling
someone how you really feel or admitting to a mistake you may have made in your life. Several years

left minor damage to vehicle, but no one was around. I could have easily rode off and pretended it
never happened, though that would not have been the honest nor the right thing to do. I spoke with the
owner of the car and made arrangements to pay him back for the damage. Honesty is a key trait you

James Berger s After The End
Reading Response on James Berger s monograph After the End James Berger s After the End:
Representations of Post Apocalypse gives a detailed and broad overview of specific representations of
post apocalypses in American culture. In the three parts of the book, Berger focuses on the
problematic of post apocalyptic representation, representations of the Holocaust and post apocalyptic
phenomena in recent American culture. In the first part, he examines post apocalyptic representation
as a paradoxical, oxymoronic discourse (19) and connects apocalypse with the idea of trauma,
describing these post apocalyptic representations as symptoms of historical trauma. Additional, he
includes the figures of the angel and the survivor in his analysis as post traumatic [and] post
apocalyptic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses two novels to better interpret how the traumas of the holocaust are anchored in western
societies and to depict how the end would look like, namely like apocalypses that already occurred. In
the third part, Berger turns to more recent post apocalyptic phenomena of American culture, analyzing
Reaganism as the most conspicuous and politically powerful instance of [...] American post
apocalypticism (134). Reaganism sees America as an already achieved utopia, meaning the apocalypse
has already happened and therefore also traumas were generated, which were largely disavowed.
However, Berger puts the 1960s in contrast to Reaganism as apocalyptic because of their critique of
American history (cf. 140) and additional depicts the social disintegration of this period as its main
trauma (156). The analysis of two post apocalyptic novels concerning their historical traumas
underlines his findings of the third part and give evidence of, nostalgia, the repetition of traumas and
social movements. In the epilogue, Berger finally concludes that the process of rebuilding traumas
continues in American post apocalyptic culture and

Industry Analysis of Apollo Group Inc and Career Education...
Apollo Group Inc. and Career Education Corporation: An Industry Analysis Abstract There a number
of major names within the educational industry, but it is the for profit schools that have seen a number
of great changes and divides within their respective sector. The two companies evaluated here are
Apollo Group Inc. and Career College Corporation, both of which have faced some serious criticism
and scrutiny because of their for profit business model and practices. Yet, Career Education
Corporation has proven to remain a less productive organization, one which has seen losses in both its
financial performance and consumer reputation. Environmental Elements Both companies have faced
legal scrutiny based on their for profit business model. In fact, For profit colleges recruitment
practices have been scrutinized by Congress and state attorneys, (Wolfson Rule 2011). Career
Education Corporation was barred from further expansion in 2005 by the Department of Education.
This ban was primarily because of the questionable accounting practices of two schools in particular
under the Career Education Corporation umbrella name: Collins College and Brooks College. The
company was eventually allowed to regain acquisitions and other means of expansion in 2007,
although its original probation period was set to end in 2006. The organization has consistently been
targeted by state and Federal government agencies for improperly report[ing] job placement rates,

Silence In The Birthday Party
Technically, silence can be defined as the absolute absense of sound. In human interaction, however,
the boundaries of this definition may fade. In that case, it is not the total absense of sound but the
absense of speech that determines the silence within a conversation. According to Harold Pinter, this
conversational silence can be divided into two categories: one when no word is spoken. The other
when perhaps a torrent of language is being employed . In other words, one kind of silence occurs
when two people are quiet and not talking to one another. The other, the torrent of language , concerns
what can be read between the lines, or the real truth behind what is being said. This latter may not be a
genuine silence, but in Pinter s plays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Written in 1957, a fearful time of oppression and censorship, The Birthday Party explores this theme
through Stanley s futile efforts to stand up for himself against the ones he feared most. Even though
his fate remains unknown, as well as the actual reason for Goldberg and McCann s presence, fact is
that his mental breakdown seems to represent the state of mind of the people of America at the time.
In alignment to the impending doom Stanley felt throughout the play, resulting in him basically losing
his voice, the people could not fight the terrors of the Cold War and the other wars going on at the
time. They were not allowed to resist their government, as that could very well be their own end as
well as their country s. As Charles Grimes states in his Harold Pinter s Politics: A Silence Beyond
Echo , virtually all of Pinter s political works end in some variant of this painful, double edged silence
(49). By this, he asserts that there are two sides to Stanley s silence: [it] is both absolute and complex;
it also represents the necessity of a futile resistance to all analogous brutalities (49). Therefore, silence
and resistance go hand in hand, as silence is nothing but the unspoken

... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After some research, I found out that cardinal sine could not be solved by elementary means and that
its integral was, in fact, a crucial part of the Gibbs phenomenon, which will be expanded upon in the
Applications section (Pg. 8) of this investigation. My aim for this investigation is to prove the integral
of cardinal sine to be sine integral and to approximate five (5) values of the sine integral function.
Afterwards, I will show how this is relevant in both mathematics and other, more practical,
applications. Exploration In order to organize the mathematical exploration most effectively, the
exploration will begin with the following problem: Prove that ∫▒sin⁡
x/x is equal to Si (x). Approximate
Si (0), Si (π/6), Si (π/4), Si (π/3), and Si (π/2) using a Taylor polynomial of order 3 at 0 for f(x) = Si
(x). In order to verify the results of the approximations, Wolfram Alpha, an online calculator capable
of processing the sine integral function, will be used.
To begin with, the Taylor series representation of the sine integral function is as such:
Si (x)=∑_(n=0 )^∞▒(( 1)^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)(2n+1)! At this point, it is necessary to find the Taylor
series representation of sin⁡
x/x. First, the Taylor series representation of sin (x) is:
∑_(n=0)^∞▒(〖( 1)〗^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)!
Therefore, sin⁡
x/x is equal to:
1/x ∑_(n=0)^∞▒(〖( 1)〗^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)!
Which is equal to:
∑_(n=0)^∞▒(〖( 1)〗^n x^(2n+1))/x(2n+1)!

Solid Lead Iodide Lab Report
Discussion:
There are numerous ways of isolating and purifying a substance, and an investigation of the
differences of each procedure were performed. In two different procedures, lead nitrate and potassium
iodide were used to isolate and purify pure solid lead iodide, and the differences in the limiting
reactant and solid lead iodide was observed. The amount of solid lead iodide was calculated by the
measuring the mass of which the solid lead iodide was created in before and after the purification of
solid lead iodide.
The purification and isolation of solid lead iodide was achieved in two different process with different
results. In the evaporation collection, the solid iodide was created by adding heat to the water base
solution of lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the evaporation collection, potassium nitrate was left behind in the casserole dish. If no potassium
nitrate was present the percent yield would be closer to 100% yield, but this is not the case. The
percent yield for the evaporation collection was 144% yield which is not close to 100% yield.
The evaporation collection procedure was able to achieve over 75% yield with a percent yield of
144%, while the vacuum filtration was unable to achieve the goal with only 56.9% yield. The
evaporation collection was able to achieve the 144% yield by carefully transferring all of the liquid
from the test tube to the casserole dish with accuracy and using distilled water in the procedure.
Based on the percent yields, the evaporation collection technique would be the best option since it
achieved 144% yield, which is over the 75% yield goal. Although the evaporation collection attained a
better percent yield, the vacuum filtration produces a purer lead iodide because the potassium nitrate is
filtered out of the Buchner funnel, while in the evaporation collection keeps the potassium nitrate in
the casserole dish.
In this experiment, there are two different systematic errors to consider. In the evaporation collection,
the casserole dish that was used had an uneven edge which could have allowed some of the solution,
which contained lead

Corruption In Famous Last Word Essay
War is a horrific experience made worse by those who try to control it for their own advantage. In
Famous Last Words, Timothy Findley creates a world of intrigue as he describes the tales of
conspiracy and corruption for world domination. That made World War II far worse than it otherwise
would have been. This is shown through the relationships of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor,
Joachim von Ribbentrop, and Benito Mussolini.
The Duke and Duchess of Windsor are prominent people in society, who want more power. The

Search And Seizure In Schools
As an educator, I, along with all educators, must be knowledgeable about the laws and school policies
in regards to search and seizures of students. Although I am aware of the state and school policies, the
school district I work for only wants the administration to deal with searches and seizures of students.
We must notify the administration immediately if we have reasonable suspicion of students violating
school rules or state laws. From there, the administration will conduct the search or other precautions
when or if they see fit. When searching book bags, purses, and lunch bags, the Mountain View School
District s handbook states, All book bags, purses, lunch bags, and back packs are subject to searches.

it clearly states that any materials found will be used and handed to authorities if need be. Lastly, the

Physical Examination And Ecg Findings At The Emergency...
Background
Chest pain is a common presenting complaint to the emergency department of any hospital and, given
that ischemic heart disease is considered the world s biggest killer1, it is imperative to investigate such
patients at length to exclude coronary artery disease (CAD). Physicians commonly rely on the
measurement of cardiac biomarkers such as creatine kinase (CK) and its isoenzymes for such a
differential diagnosis. Despite the determination of Troponin levels in the evaluation of myocardial
ischemia, an elevated CK MB can provide diagnostic uncertainty as it rises earlier than troponin in
myocardial injury. Thus, it is important to remember the other causes of an elevated CK, and by
extension it isoenzymes when investigating such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are known as macro enzymes and carry a molecular weight of greater than 200 kDa3,4. Macro
molecular forms of not only creatine kinase have been described but also that of lactate
dehydrogenase, amylase and aspartate aminotransferase6. These molecules provide diagnostic
challenges for physicians as they often lead to an interference in the biochemical assay for their
respective enzymes, resulting in false positive diagnosis such as acute myocardial ischemia or even
acute pancreatitis.
This discussion will focus on the macro molecular forms of creatine kinase: macro CK type 1 and
macro CK type 2. Macro CK type 1 is a complex formed by one of the CK isoenzymes and
immunoglobulin in an antigen (auto) antibody reaction7. Most often, it s components entail CK BB
and monoclonal IgG3. Its prevalence is estimated at 0.9 1.2% 3. Albeit, very rare, researchers have
shown its association with various disorders including hypothyroidism, neoplasia, autoimmune
conditions, myositis and cardiovascular disease8. Persuasively, Lee et al (1994) showed that more
than 50% of his patients with macro CK type 1 had some form of myositis, whether it was
autoimmune, malignancy associated or drug induced (PBrien, J.The Macroenzymes: A Clinical

Seaworld Trainers Research Paper
The SeaWorld trainers follow a very precise script whilst delivering shows to the public and have to
be very careful with what they say. Of course, because we are so naïve to what actually goes on
behind the scenes, we are brainwashed into thinking it is morally acceptable for these whales to be in
captivity. For example, the trainers say that a good age for a whale to live to is around 30 years old;
when in fact, a killer whale in the wild can live up to the age of 70 to 80. Does this not show we are
damaging population numbers and cutting lifespans of these wonderful whales? Another fact trainers

Once a family, always a family unless of course a horrible group of human beings split them up. The
bond is so strong that they travel great journeys as a family unit. According to a BBC article, a team
tagged, and tracked, a pod of killer whales and found they regularly travel all the way from the
Antarctic to Brazil then all the way back. To put this into numbers, on one of their journeys, they
covered a distance of 5,075 miles without stopping: this can be compared to a non stop journey from
Edinburgh to Los Angeles or London to Beijing. A distance that is impossible to mimic in captivity.
The reason for these epic journeys is for food. Killer whales have a varied diet and are one of the most
powerful predators on earth. They hunt a mixture of sea birds, squid, sea turtles, sharks, rays, fish and
marine mammals such as seals. What makes it so interesting is different ecotypes will eat different
foods dependent on their native habitat and this is when we have to consider what captive whales are
being fed. The common diet of dead frozen fish is not specific to every type killer whale. I am
convinced that this is not a healthy diet for a whale and only makes captive life even worse as their
wellbeing is in constant

Examples Of Colonialism In The Last Of The Mohicans

The Last of the Mohicans: A Tale of Romance and Racism Falling in love has been a common theme
of literature since people first started writing. The romantic era of literature was from the late 1700 s
to the mid 1800 s. James Fenimore Cooper s The Last of the Mohicans was written at the peak of this
era in 1826. Many have critiqued Cooper s writing style, but few have critiqued his content due to it
being so controversial. Cooper uses the romance between the characters, Cora and Uncas, to cover
racial stereotypes and inequalities throughout The Last of the Mohicans.
The Last of the Mohicans was written by James Fenimore Cooper in 1826, during the romanticism era
of literature. The book is set in 1757, therefore taking place during a time of colonialism. According to
the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Colonialism is a practice of domination, which involves the
subjugation of one people to another (Kohn and Reddy 1) In Cooper s novel, colonialism is present by
the Native Americans being colonized by European Americans. Throughout the book, Cooper
constantly compares European Americans and Native Americans, different tactics and behaviors. ( The

(Scalia 1). This book was the second book of Cooper s Leatherstocking Tales and was the most widely

Irish Dance: A Marvelous Dance
Irish step dancing has existed since the 1700 s, over 300 years. Families in Ireland have passed down
Irish step dance from generation to generation as a way of preserving their culture. While the meaning
of the dance remains the same, the performance and showmanship has changed dramatically. From
girls and boys with pale skin and natural hair to girls with fake tanned skin, huge curly wigs, and
thousand dollar dresses and boys with fake tanned skin and outlandish outfits. Irish dance has become
more of a spectacle such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. Those dances are some of the most

Taking methods of the dance or stick with the traditional movements and showing them in a way that
would be more interesting to the public. Which is what was done with Riverdance and Lord of the
Dance, which take the form of the dance and use it for a dramatic necessity.
There are various parts of Irish dance that have lasted throughout the years to remain an influence on
the form known today. These basics have laid the foundation on which the dance has grown.
Performed mainly during festivals, which date from the period of Eric the Red and the Viking raids of
Ireland. While the Vikings did destroyed most books and written records, it was acknowledged that
music and dance were important to the Gaelic culture. These festivals were a mixture of trade fair,
political gathering, music, dance, sports, story telling and crafts. Today, the sole purposes of feiseanna
are competitive dance competitions. There is still music, crafts, and trades, not as much. Officially
there is no political aspect to the festivals anymore, many who participate would tell you otherwise.
The reason that the traditional dance has remained apart of the world is because of the teachers and
students. But in order to dance the students required movements, steps, and music to put them to. The
dance masters teachers of the 18th and 19th centuries all had the same original dance steps, while they
invented their own steps on top the original ones. There are two different roots, which

Thus, a significant number of features do not get a theatrical release, but are released directly to home
video and other media.
According to the Independent Film Television Alliance (IFTA), last year, films from independents
received 79 overall Oscar nominations versus 42 for the majors, while in the top categories, indies had
21 nominations to 14 for the majors.
It is statistically apparent that independent features are highly regarded, and certainly on trend.
Investing in the right feature film can produce solid returns and that these returns can be substantial
over the short, medium and long terms. It is interesting to note that the number of distribution
channels for movies in general has increased greatly over the past several years. Cable and PAY TV
systems as well as Video on Demand platforms are growing exponentially throughout the world. In
recent years new cable channels have been launched to satisfy the increasing interest in independent
features. Channels such as the Sundance Channel and the Independent Film Channel are devoted to
free spirited independent films and other related features.
Because programming and media forms such as Live streaming, DVD, and the Internet are now major
movie viewing sources, the producers will be careful

The European Union And Nato Have Grand Strategies
A profusion of scholarly works and articles lament the fact that the European Union does not develop
a grand strategy and militate to confer an enhanced military dimension on the EU. These views imply
that the European Union has no grand strategy or has an inadequate one. However widespread, these
conclusions do not fit with all existing conceptions regarding grand strategy. In the meantime and
interestingly enough, people seem more inclined to accept that NATO has a grand strategy. This
observation and its potential implication for the international order inspired and initiated this study.
They lead to the two following questions that guided the analysis. Do the European Union and NATO
have grand strategies? If yes, what are these grand strategies and what are their possible impacts on
the international order? Answering these questions required, first, to understand grand strategy. In
chapter 1, the study began by scrutinizing the concept of grand strategy, which has historically been
intimately intertwined with the concept of strategy. Rigorous investigations into the nature and history
of strategy combined with the application of different lenses to the canon of work of recognized
authorities in the field of strategy supported the analysis. The etymological, historical, and
epistemological lenses applied to strategy provided the basis to assess the dominant schools of
thought, understand the contemporary developments, and ultimately comprehend grand strategy. This

Abstract this paper is an involvement in the field of security study on mobile ad hoc networks.
Boundaries of the mobile ad hoc nodes have been considered in order to design a secure Geographic
routing protocol that thwarts selfish and flooding attacks. We took the base of Ad hoc On Demand
Routing Protocol (AODV); the most popular Routing protocol. The significance of the proposed
protocol that should make sure security as wanted by providing a broad architecture of Secured PPEM
Mechanism based Multi Hop Strong Path Geographic Routing protocol (SMHSP) based on effective
key management, secure neighbor detection, secure routing data s, finding malicious nodes, and
eliminating these nodes from routing table. Our results clearly show that our secured Geographic
routing protocol increases the throughput and packet delivery ratio while it has a tolerable increase in
the routing overhead and average delay. Also, security study proves in details that the proposed

Responsible Software Engineering Personal Statement
I am a college graduate in Computer Science aspiring to pursue masters, specializing in Human
Computer Interaction. During my final year in college, I worked on a project to identify large scale
threats to public life by classifying RSS news feeds. Since we had to narrow down the genre to
identify events like accidents and disasters, we applied NLP techniques before applying typical
classification methods like SVM. We did tokenization, Part of Speech tagging, subject verb relation
and sentiment scoring of the verbs to understand more about the nature and gravity of news. This
project gave me a glimpse of what research can entail and taught me the importance of rigour in

I found it extremely satisfying to bring together an interface with functionality. Eager to delve in, I
took part in discussions regarding mock ups and the user experience it provided. I took an online
course, Introduction to User Experience Design offered by Georgia Tech that explained the basic cycle

agile way in which my team works we develop our interfaces in an iterative manner, going back to
improve experience based on user feedback. I also ventured into developing a mobile application in a
domain that piques my interest environmental issues. This application takes inputs and calculates
carbon footprint. On my own evaluation of the way I was designing it, I was sure it would be
cumbersome for the user since the application required entering a lot of data. How do we innovate to
make an interaction click? The new game Pokemon was successful because of its augmented reality
technology and it encouraged people to explore the real world. I think it reflects the immense
opportunity that rests with HCI to influence people and the responsibility it bears in doing so. More

The Birth Of A Moral Dilemma
The Birth of a Moral Dilemma in The Guest People choose every day in different circumstances and
degrees either small imperceptible one, such as the color of the shirt that they will wear, or huge
emotional and moral dilemmas like an abort or a high risk surgery. Nonetheless, there is always a
decision made that has its consequences (want or not). Albert Camus uses characterization to address
the importance of choices. The author uses the character of Balducci to show what happens when
people follow the rules without hesitation. For example, when Balducci arrives into the school to leave
the Arab with Daru, and Daru shows himself discontent with that unforeseen problem, he says, Those
are the orders (Camus). Balducci as a man of law must follow whatever thing is said to him, and he
will do it for sure without dubiety; in addition, Balducci remarks, [Y]ou must sign, that s the rule
(Camus). He has to obey all the requisites and commandments that his work dictates, and he can t
avoid doing this because he will break all the goodness that justice represents. Nevertheless, Camus
tries to point out if a person who only follow a guide or manual for every decision he or she made.
That person is, in fact, making no choices, and he or she does not have to face and think about what is
right or wrong because that person will search and do whatever is said in that guide. Particularly, in
this story, Balducci notes, You don t get used to putting a rope on a man even after

Purge Persuasive Speech
Despite the horrible ideas of what a purge is, the world should have one. There have been two movies
made about purges, so it must be a good idea to have one for ourselves. The benefits of having a purge
are, it is a stress reliever, controls the population count, and for a few hours you could be the most
powerful person. Purging is a great concept that everyone should be open to. Have you ever wanted to
get rid of all of your stress? Well having a purge would help you do exactly that. The thrill of killing
someone makes you forget everything entirely and just focus on the person you are killing. Maybe
there are certain people who make you stressed, kill them and your stress is gone forever. Now the
purge is only for a few hours so if you have multiple people who cause you to have stress, move very
quickly. (appeal to authority) The earth has entirely too many humans inhabiting it. Purging would
help resolve this issue. There are 7 billion on this planet and roughly 320 million in the United States,
so if we as a country had a purge and everyone killed at least one human then the population would
decrease drastically. The world is very much over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Jimmy Valentine
Can a professional burglar turn his life around and become a good person? Jimmy Valentine could.
Jimmy Valentine was a professional burglar who got caught and was sent to jail. After getting out of
jail, Jimmy locked eyes with a fine woman, who then went into a bank. Jimmy collared a boy who
also was walking into a bank and found out the woman s name: Annabel Adams. After locking eyes
with the woman, Jimmy became a changed man. Jimmy changed his name to Ralph D. Spencer and
changed his personality altogether. At the end of the year, the situation was this: Jimmy won Annabel s
heart, he ran a successful shoe store, and he had won the respect of the community. Two weeks before
getting married with Annabel, Mr. Adams, Annabel s father, was showing Ralph the new safe that he
put into his bank. Agatha and May, Annabel s nieces, were fascinated by the shiny safe and all of its
gears. Unfortunately, May had seen Mr. Adams open and close the safe and learned how to do it.
Agatha then got trapped in the safe. There was no combination for the lock of the safe, so there was no
way that Agatha was able to get out, except Ralph D. Spencer was there. With no hesitation, The soul

ECT as an Effective Treatment for Self Harm
ECT as an Effective Treatment for Self Harm in Extreme Cases of Mentally Unstable Patients who
Cannot Give Informed Consent There is much controversy in regards to how far a practitioner should
go to protect a patient s well being, whilst trying to adhere to their rights and consent of treatment
methods (Feldman, 1990, p. 261). The most ethical solution is to only resort to extreme methods of
treatments if the patient is clearly seen as not being mentally stable enough to provide the right
judgement call, and if they are in a life threatening situation in which they could potentially harm
themselves or others. In cases where patients are not mentally stable enough to give their consent,
their family, guardians, partners, or an authorized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research by Kellner et al. has also shown how ETC can be effective for behavioural disorders, but in
this case, for severe depression. Kellner defends this treatment explaining that many controversies
have arose regarding ECT because of misrepresentations of it in the media and lack of knowledge of
the logistics of its mechanisms. Patient, Ms. A. , a 72 year old woman became seriously depressed and
was not responding to any psychotherapy or drugs pertaining to clinical depression. She was barely
able to function properly, and after a course of eight ECT sessions of unilateral ultrabrief pulse
treatments , her score on the Hamilton Depression Rating scale, ranked out of 24, went from 38 to 6.
She was soon able to continue her usual daily activities (Kellner, 2012, p. 1 2). Miss. A s results from
ETC showed that this method of treatment greatly improved her previously severe depression.
Depression can lead to attempts at suicide as well as self harming ones self, so extreme punitive
treatments are better to pursue than allowing the chance of a patient taking ones own life.(Feldman
1990, p. 263). It is emphasized that consent of patients that are legally incompetent for medical
decision making should have a legal guardian to decide for them (Kellner 2012, p. 5). Thus, ETC has

Quit Day 5 Steps To Quit Smoking

Last month Jon saw a commercial on T.V. about the harmful effects smoking has on the body. The
commercial showed how smoking can lead from things as minor as bad breath and yellow teeth to
something as severe as lung cancer. Jon, a frequent smoker, decided he would put down his cigarettes

smoking. He only went two days without smoking and began to experience great withdrawals. Jon
thought he had to buy another pack just to feel better. Jon saw the commercial again today and decided
that he could not do this alone; he needed help. Jon called the number on the commercial and began to
speak to a specialist who gave him great advice on how to quit his habit for good. The specialist told
Jon that there were five steps he needed to follow in order to start his journey to quit smoking. Set a

order for one to succeed in quitting smoking they must take each day one day at a time and not think

in turn will help one stay more positive. Another way to stay positive is to reward one selves for

The Depletion Of The Natural Resources
In the past recent years, the depletion of the natural resources has become the area of major attention
throughout the world. These resources include the fossil fuels, minerals, natural vegetation, animals,
air, water, sunlight, soil, etc. The rate of its consumption is increasing day by day. This ultimately
leads to the ceasing of the resources to the earth s crust. The rising demand of these resources has led
to a limited supply of these resources which has serious impacts to environmental damages like air
pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and the depletion of the ozone layer. Thus, there is an urgent
need for mainly the industries to find an alternative approach reducing its unwanted effect on the
environment.
Manufacturing plays a very important role in an organization particularly to build competitive benefit
and improve performance. Manufacturers have been neglecting their social environmental
responsibility and have focused too much on their profits. The minimization of waste and pollution
produced can be achieved by product and process designing. Green manufacturing is an emerging
field as a solution taken by the industries in the recent years.
Green manufacturing can broadly be defined as the technology used in a manufacturing process that
finds a smarter way to use the limited resources, both in manufacturing the material and in the energy
used in the process. This is achieved by reducing the waste and pollution by re defining the present
production

Frank Herbert and His Classic Novel, Dune Essay
Frank Herbert and His Classic Novel, Dune
A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct. Princess Irulan
speaks these words in the award winning novel Dune (Novel). Frank Herbert knew this quote was true
because he carefully planned his epic masterpiece before he started writing. The novel could only
happen after research of a variety of topics. Dune has many different influences and origins. Frank
Herbert s complicated book, covering a variety of themes, took six years to complete (Wikipedia).

Herbert began reading science fiction in the 1940 s, and by the 1950 s decided that science fiction is
what he wanted to write. Early in his career, he published short stories under a pseudonym that he
refused to reveal (O Reilley). Some of his short fiction under his real name appeared in Startling
Fiction. He was an infrequent writer, though. He only produced twenty short stories in a decade. His
first published novel was Dragon in the Sea, also titled Under Pressure (Wikipedia).
Herbert s past work would be shadowed by what was coming next. The origins of the novel Dune
began in 1959. Herbert worked on an assignment asking him to write an article about sand dunes in
Florence, Oregon. The government was trying to stop the spread of the dunes over the coastline. He
became very involved with the project and ended up with a mass of information. Herbert never handed
in the article, but it served as the seed for the ideas that created Dune. He stated about the incident:
I had far too much for an article and far too much for a short story. So I didn t know really what I had

Isopropanol Research Paper
Many people assume alcohol is nothing more than liquor or rubbing alcohol; however, this is not the
case. There are many different types of alcohol including some of the alternate fuels we put into our
vehicles. Over the course of my working life I have come into contact with many different alcohols,
but Isopropyl Alcohol, or 2 propanol, was one of the ones that I encountered the most and I have
always wondered exactly what it is. 2 propanol is a very interesting molecule and has a lot of uses for
products in many different markets. Because of this, many people come into contact with it and do not
even know it. There are many important advances going on with the development of isopropanol that
could potentially change our lives. Although, it is important to know and understand the products that

Typically isopropanol is found in its liquid form because it is not easy to freeze with a freezing point
of 88.3°C. Not only does 2 propanol have a low freezing point, but it also ignites easily with a flash
point, the temperature in which a liquid can ignite in air, of 12° C, but it also denser than air when
vaporized (ILPI). So, if there was a fire and some became vaporized, it could potentially cause a large
explosion. Another interesting thing about isopropanol is how it is soluble in many different liquids
such as alcohol, water, ether, chloroform, benzene, and most organic solvents. This means that you can
create many different substances out of propanol that could potentially be used in places that you
would not expect. Such as a chemical we use at my work that we call blanket wash (mixture of 2
propanol and petroleum) and it is used to clean excess ink off of a printing press and it is used because

Why is tap water so bad for your skin?
A huge percentage of the UK has hard water which means the majority of the population have to face
the cold hard truth of it: we re actually covering ourselves in soap scum. The soap scum then clogs our
pores each time we use it and contributes to breakouts. The big problem with hard water is the fact
that it has such a high mineral content which stops it from reacting with soap normally. Instead, it
triggers a lather and creates a soapy layer upon the skin. This not only leads to very clogged pores but
also irritates the skin too making it itchy, dry and sometimes flaky. Dr Dennis Gross from the U.S had
this to say, These impurities in water make it difficult for soap and shampoo to wash off, leading to
dryness of the skin and scalp, which directly irritate the skin and cause redness and rosacea.
On top of this, there are also very strong correlations between hard water and skin disorders such as
eczema. This is due to the minerals such as calcium, which when found in particularly high
concentrations can cause a great loss of moisture to the skin and in turn lead to irritating conditions
like eczema. A recent study at the University of Nottingham found in over 7,500 children of school
age, conditions like eczema were becoming significantly more common for those within hard water
areas than those in soft water areas. Sadly, this isn t a matter of converting

Sometimes following God is easy, but not the case of Hosea and Gomer in their not so fairytale
romance, we see that following God s plan for our life works out in the end. The story of Hosea and
Gomer was beautiful and lovely but also quirky. This story is located in the book of Hosea in the Old
Testament of the Bible.
If your spouse were to cheat on you with multiple partners would you stay with them? Most people
would say no and that they would leave, but is this the case with Hosea and Gomer? For God so loved
the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV). Some consider John 3:16 as the theme verse for the entire Bible. (What
Does John 3:16 Mean? 1). This tells us that God loves us unconditionally and knows that we sin, but
he still loves us.
HOSEAAND GOMER
Hosea is responsible and successful. In this book, Hosea was an obedient and faithful prophet of God,
and he was responsible and followed all of the orders that were presented to him. With every order

Descriptive Essay On Fashion Shows
My cousin, Eshna was taking me to a fashion show being held in Kolkata. I ve never been to one
before. In fact, I had no idea of what exactly it was that they showed in fashion shows. In dog shows,
they showed dogs; in baby shows they showed babies. I knew what dogs were, and what babies were,
so that was all right. But I hadn t a clue what fashion was, and was looking forward to finding out.
All I knew about fashion shows was that they involved people called models. The models walked up
and down something called a catwalk. No one seemed to know why a catwalk should be called a
catwalk. Why not a dogwalk, for instance? Well, the answer to that seemed simple. If they called the
catwalk a dogwalk then people might think that what they d come to see was a dog show, instead of a
fashion show and be on the lookout for a French poodle a la Rohit Bal. On the other hand, no one s
ever heard of a cat show, so if you call the catwalk in a fashion show a catwalk you d be alright, and
no one would expect to see Garfield strutting his stuff courtesy Ritu Beri. Just to further confuse
matters, however, the catwalk is also known as a ramp. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What precisely was the damn thing? I had a feeling that fashion had something to do with clothes. But
to equate mere clothes with fashion was like confusing daal bhaat with haute cuisine. Clothes were
something that you wore; fashion was something that wore you. Maybe fashion had to do with Page 3.
I knew what Page 3 was. It was the page that came after Page 2, which in turn came after Page 1.
These things aren t too difficult to work out, if you take a deep breath and don t panic. But knowing
that Page 3 came after Page 2 was like knowing about catwalks also known as ramps and models; all
this still didn t tell me what fashion was. And I was all agog to find

Eyewitness Identification Evidence Essay
Witness identification evidence is the second most incriminating type of evidence bar a confession
(Brandon Davies, 1973 as cited by Valentine Heaton, 1999). However, The Innocence Project reports
it is also the leading cause of wrongful convictions in the US, more specifically, 72% of DNA
exoneration cases since 1989.
The aim of line ups is to give the witness a fair test of recognition. Additionally, the suspect (who may
be innocent) must also be given a fair chance. In the 1976 the Devlin Report was created following an
investigation into a signification number of wrongful convictions. The aim of the report was to
minimise convictions based on solely eye witness testimony. However, this rule is not specified in law
indicating that false identifications are still a likely possibility. The Police and Criminal Evidence Act
(1984) (UK code of practice) aims to increase the likelihood of accurate identifications by providing
guidelines to law enforcements. Although PACE provides guidelines for how to conduct line ups, the
incidence of false identifications is still common.
It is of great importance to ensure that eyewitness identification of suspect s can be as accurate and
reliable as possible, especially considering the frequency and importance of its use. Factors that affect
the accuracy of eyewitness identification must be addressed and ameliorated to avoid future
miscarriages of justice (i.e. prosecuting the wrong person). Whilst law enforcements may not have

Activation Synthesis Theory Of Sleep
Sleep is a beautiful thing, but people do not get enough of it. It is a time for the body to rejuvenate and
process the events of the day. Sleeping is something that we seek out. Getting the recommended
amount of sleep allows our body to function properly the next day. Without it, there could be
detrimental consequences. The National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke says that
without sleep, neurons could be polluted with byproducts . In severe cases, people who get very little
sleep often experience mood swings, hallucinations and cells do not continue to reproduce. According
to the National Sleep Foundation, sleeping makes up one third of a person s lifetime. Despite that fact,
people do not get nearly enough sleep to be productive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was not able to sleep as much during the school week. Monday night through Friday morning, I
averaged five hours of sleep. Because I was unable to go through the four stages of sleep and REM
sleep, I did not function to my fullest potential. During school, I found it difficult to focus. My lack of
sleep did not allow me to remember very many of my dreams during the school week. From Friday
night to Sunday night, I was able to sleep much more because I did not have a crushing amount of
homework. Although I did sleep the recommended eight hours those days, I only remember a little
snippet of a dream. From Friday night to Saturday morning, I remember my family and I on a beach
together in Hawaii. Dreaming about Hawaii represents trying to escape your daily problems. That is
fitting because the end of the school week oftentimes I want to forget all of the work that I have to
accomplish over the coming weekend. Family represents security, warmth and love. This could be
because I am leaving for college next year, and I do not fully know what will happen, and I desire a
sense of warmth and love from my family. My dream follows the Activation Synthesis Hypothesis for
two main reasons. It follows the parameter that the dream goes along with something going on in my
life. The second reason is that my brain was trying to comprehend what was going

Themes In For Whom The Bells Tolls
We all are put to the test by having to make sacrifices like a life or death situation. Although the
majority of those choices may be for the greater good, some can hurt others. We are put to the task,
and we have several obstacles in our way, and it is our duty to accomplish that task. In Ernest
Hemingway s For Whom the Bells Tolls, the character of Robert Jordan risks his life to fight fascism
to do his duty, take care of Maria and to wash away his father suicide.
To begin with, Robert Jordan takes care of the woman he loves, Maria. Ever since Robert Jordan went
with the reclusive group in the mountain, the two of them had empathy of love towards each other.
Robert Jordan tries to reject the adulation they have for each other because he thinks that after the
bridge is blown, they will not see each other anymore. Maria refuses to think that and shows all her
love towards him. Soon Robert Jordan seems to care more about Maria and uses their passion for each
other as a distraction from the war. Hewson states that Jordan comes to realize that he and Maria are
making an alliance against death through their love for each other (6). Their love for each other
designates them forget about everything, and all they want to do is be together. The alliance against
death that they have is significant in the story. Being together assembles them to feel powerful and
gives them both hope and strength during their hard times there. This helps out both of these
characters in their own

story; mind blowing even. I assumed that they were hurting over there I just didn t think it was to the
extent it was. John Dau was one of the well known Lost Boys. He was twelve years old when the civil
war went through his village and destroyed it. As things were being destroyed and people were being
killed he ran into the darkness of the night. John Dau traveled thousands of miles with 27,000 others

Macbeth Desire For Power Analysis
A power struggle is a common reoccurring event that is seen across literature , whether it s when a
character is trying to escape a higher power, gain power for themselves, or both. Macbeth, from
Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Macbeth portrays this perfectly. Macbeth s drive for power is the
sole focus of the play and is an important trait that defines him as a character.
The Tragedy of Macbeth is driven by an adoration for power. Shakespeare utilizes the main character,
Macbeth, to speak to humanity s craving for power over one another. The first instance that Macbeth
can be seen to show his drive for power is when the three witches tell him All hail, Macbeth! Hail to
thee, Thane of Glamis/All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane ... Show more content on

Since Macbeth has now been named king, after his sinful act and has obtained all the power that he
strived for, one would believe that he would stop these murder demonstrations. But in fact, now that he
has control and the power of the king , he is so jumpy about losing it, that he proceeds with the killing
s over power , which helps enhance the overall meaning of Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth
(Quote Insert).
Shakespeare s use of imagery and detail conjure up scenes of oceans and rivers of blood and pitch
black nights without starlight (Quote Credit). As Macbeth grapples with his conscience after he kills
Banquo, because of his suspicion of King Duncan s murder, he starts to see daggers and the phantom
of his closest companion before him. This leads to people starting to question Macbeth s mental
stability. Macbeth additionally orders Banquo s son, Fleance,to be killed because of the witches
proposal that Banquo shalt get kings, though thou be none, this shows that Macbeth s desire for power
causes him to be paranoid and to kill one of his closest companions, as well as his son, if it were not
for the desire of power that he is engulfed in (Quote Credit). The killings of Banquo and his son help
highlight how far someone would go and that people will surrender their own personal morals to

Black history Month, or as it used to be called National African American History Month, is a yearly
celebration of successes of Black Americans and realizing the role of African
Americans in the United States history. The event was changed from Negro History Week , which was
noted by prominent African Americans and Carter G. Woodson, into Black History
Month on the Month of February. Since then every United States president announced that the month

Who Is King Daniel
[2]In the beautiful city of Babylon, there once lived a man named Daniel. [1]He was an advisor to the
king. Daniel was different from the other advisors. He believed in the one true God. One day, two of
the king s other advisors watched as Daniel diligently prayed to God. [6]They hated Daniel. He was
always praying to God for guidance and he was always honest. He wanted to do the right thing. The
advisors despised him because of that. Then one day, as they watched Daniel pray, they came up with
an evil idea. They would write up a document that would say that no one would be allowed to pray.
[5]If they disobeyed this law they would be thrown into the Lion s Den like a piece of meat.
[3]Suddenly, one day after the king had signed the document, they caught him defying the law and
praying any way. They rushed into his room and dragged him to the king s throne room. [4]Forcing

began praying to God to keep him safe if it was His will. God heard Daniel s prayers and sent an angel
to close the snarling mouths of the lions. [2]Throughout the night, none of the lions ever bothered him.
Some of them even wanted to cuddle. [3]Unceasingly, Daniel prayed all night. [5] As he sat in the
darkness untouched, he knew the advisors would come back in the morning to see if he had been
killed, which was what they wanted to happen. The next morning Daniel saw streams of light peering
thru the top of the entrance. [4]Hearing a noise above him, Daniel looked up. The king, who had
worried about him all night, was prying the top off the cavern. Daniel, he shouted, are you alive? Did
the God you believe and trust in protect you? Daniel answered him and told him that God had taken
care of him and that he had sent an angel to close the mouths of the lions. The king then sent for help
so that they could pull Daniel out of the deep

Three Strikes Law 2
Three Strikes Law
The Three Strikes Law has been a subject of much debate since its introduction as a regulation in
1993. The Three Strikes law was enacted in 1994 and is widely recognized as the harshest sentencing
law in the United States. The State of Texas was the first State to enact such a law in 1974.
(Laws.com) California passed its own law enacting a Three Strikes Law that mandates a sentence of
25 years to life for a third felony conviction. The reality of the Three Strikes Law will lead to a
significant increase in the nation s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This law is much stricter than prior laws. At first a person convicted of two serious felonies, such as
burglary of a residence and robbery, who then committed a third serious felony, such as another
robbery, would only have been sentenced to seven years. The Three Strikes Law has overcrowded the
prison system beyond capacity. The overcrowding has gotten to the point where courts are considering
ordering the prisons to release some of the prisoners with many of these inmates not having received
any rehabilitation or vocational training to prepare them for the outside world. Today, it costs about
$20,000 per year to confine a young person that is physically fit, but three Strikes laws would create a
huge, geriatric prison population that would be far more expensive to care for. The estimated cost of
maintaining an older prisoner is three times that required for a younger prisoner. It would cost about
$60,000 per year for an older prisoner. The cost might be worth it if older prisoners represented a
danger to society. But experts tell us that age is the most powerful crime reducer. Most crimes are
committed by men between the ages of 15 and 24.

  • 5. Examples Of Narrative Techniques In To Kill A Mockingbird Narrative technique is one of the major techniques in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird. Narrative technique is the methods that writers employ to give specific artistic and emotional impacts to the story. Narrative s works provide an account of connected events. Narrative is synonym to a story. Novels, dramas, fables, folk tales, short stories, poetry, and else are considered narratives. Likewise literature, narratives are found in cinema, music, and theatre. Narrative literary technique is as well acknowledged as literary devices. • 6. Constitutional Changes After The American Revolution Merriam Webster s dictionary defines a revolution as an, activity or movement designed to effect fundamental changes in the socioeconomic situation. or, a fundamental change in the way of thinking about or visualizing something. In this sense, the constitutional and social developments of the United States of America between 1860 and 1877 amount to a drastic revolution. Previously to Abraham Lincoln s election to the position of the American Presidency, slavery was an institution deeply rooted in Southern American s way of life. Throughout Lincoln s terms and following his assassination, America underwent many constitutional changes and dealt with a changing social order as well. The most notable of these was the uprooting of the institution of slavery and the effect it had on the United States of America. In the three parts of the book, Berger focuses on the problematic of post apocalyptic representation, representations of the Holocaust and post apocalyptic phenomena in recent American culture. In the first part, he examines post apocalyptic representation as a paradoxical, oxymoronic discourse (19) and connects apocalypse with the idea of trauma, describing these post apocalyptic representations as symptoms of historical trauma. Reaganism sees America as an already achieved utopia, meaning the apocalypse has already happened and therefore also traumas were generated, which were largely disavowed. However, Berger puts the 1960s in contrast to Reaganism as apocalyptic because of their critique of American history (cf. 140) and additional depicts the social disintegration of this period as its main trauma (156). Apollo Group Inc. and Career Education Corporation: An Industry Analysis Abstract There a number of major names within the educational industry, but it is the for profit schools that have seen a number of great changes and divides within their respective sector. The two companies evaluated here are Apollo Group Inc. and Career College Corporation, both of which have faced some serious criticism and scrutiny because of their for profit business model and practices. Yet, Career Education Corporation has proven to remain a less productive organization, one which has seen losses in both its financial performance and consumer reputation. Environmental Elements Both companies have faced legal scrutiny based on their for profit business model. In fact, For profit colleges recruitment practices have been scrutinized by Congress and state attorneys, (Wolfson Rule 2011). • 10. Silence In The Birthday Party Technically, silence can be defined as the absolute absense of sound. In human interaction, however, the boundaries of this definition may fade. In that case, it is not the total absense of sound but the absense of speech that determines the silence within a conversation. According to Harold Pinter, this conversational silence can be divided into two categories: one when no word is spoken. The other when perhaps a torrent of language is being employed . In other words, one kind of silence occurs when two people are quiet and not talking to one another. The other, the torrent of language , concerns what can be read between the lines, or the real truth behind what is being said. This latter may not be a genuine silence, but in Pinter s plays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Written in 1957, a fearful time of oppression and censorship, The Birthday Party explores this theme through Stanley s futile efforts to stand up for himself against the ones he feared most. Even though his fate remains unknown, as well as the actual reason for Goldberg and McCann s presence, fact is that his mental breakdown seems to represent the state of mind of the people of America at the time. In alignment to the impending doom Stanley felt throughout the play, resulting in him basically losing his voice, the people could not fight the terrors of the Cold War and the other wars going on at the time. They were not allowed to resist their government, as that could very well be their own end as well as their country s. As Charles Grimes states in his Harold Pinter s Politics: A Silence Beyond Echo , virtually all of Pinter s political works end in some variant of this painful, double edged silence (49). By this, he asserts that there are two sides to Stanley s silence: [it] is both absolute and complex; it also represents the necessity of a futile resistance to all analogous brutalities (49). After some research, I found out that cardinal sine could not be solved by elementary means and that its integral was, in fact, a crucial part of the Gibbs phenomenon, which will be expanded upon in the Applications section (Pg. 8) of this investigation. My aim for this investigation is to prove the integral of cardinal sine to be sine integral and to approximate five (5) values of the sine integral function. Afterwards, I will show how this is relevant in both mathematics and other, more practical, applications. Exploration In order to organize the mathematical exploration most effectively, the exploration will begin with the following problem: Prove that ∫▒sin⁡ x/x is equal to Si (x). Approximate Si (0), Si (π/6), Si (π/4), Si (π/3), and Si (π/2) using a Taylor polynomial of order 3 at 0 for f(x) = Si (x). In order to verify the results of the approximations, Wolfram Alpha, an online calculator capable of processing the sine integral function, will be used. To begin with, the Taylor series representation of the sine integral function is as such: Si (x)=∑_(n=0 )^∞▒(( 1)^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)(2n+1)! At this point, it is necessary to find the Taylor series representation of sin⁡ x/x. First, the Taylor series representation of sin (x) is: ∑_(n=0)^∞▒(〖( 1)〗^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)! Therefore, sin⁡ x/x is equal to: 1/x ∑_(n=0)^∞▒(〖( 1)〗^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)! Which is equal to: ∑_(n=0)^∞▒(〖( 1)〗^n x^(2n+1))/x(2n+1)! ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The evaporation collection procedure was able to achieve over 75% yield with a percent yield of 144%, while the vacuum filtration was unable to achieve the goal with only 56.9% yield. The evaporation collection was able to achieve the 144% yield by carefully transferring all of the liquid from the test tube to the casserole dish with accuracy and using distilled water in the procedure. Based on the percent yields, the evaporation collection technique would be the best option since it achieved 144% yield, which is over the 75% yield goal. The romantic era of literature was from the late 1700 s to the mid 1800 s. James Fenimore Cooper s The Last of the Mohicans was written at the peak of this era in 1826. Many have critiqued Cooper s writing style, but few have critiqued his content due to it being so controversial. Cooper uses the romance between the characters, Cora and Uncas, to cover racial stereotypes and inequalities throughout The Last of the Mohicans. • 20. The European Union And Nato Have Grand Strategies A profusion of scholarly works and articles lament the fact that the European Union does not develop a grand strategy and militate to confer an enhanced military dimension on the EU. These views imply that the European Union has no grand strategy or has an inadequate one. However widespread, these conclusions do not fit with all existing conceptions regarding grand strategy. In the meantime and interestingly enough, people seem more inclined to accept that NATO has a grand strategy. This observation and its potential implication for the international order inspired and initiated this study. They lead to the two following questions that guided the analysis. Do the European Union and NATO have grand strategies? If yes, what are these grand strategies and what are their possible impacts on the international order? Answering these questions required, first, to understand grand strategy. In chapter 1, the study began by scrutinizing the concept of grand strategy, which has historically been intimately intertwined with the concept of strategy. Rigorous investigations into the nature and history of strategy combined with the application of different lenses to the canon of work of recognized authorities in the field of strategy supported the analysis. The etymological, historical, and epistemological lenses applied to strategy provided the basis to assess the dominant schools of thought, understand the contemporary developments, and ultimately comprehend grand strategy. The Birth Of A Moral Dilemma The Birth of a Moral Dilemma in The Guest People choose every day in different circumstances and degrees either small imperceptible one, such as the color of the shirt that they will wear, or huge emotional and moral dilemmas like an abort or a high risk surgery. Nonetheless, there is always a decision made that has its consequences (want or not). Albert Camus uses characterization to address the importance of choices. The author uses the character of Balducci to show what happens when people follow the rules without hesitation. For example, when Balducci arrives into the school to leave the Arab with Daru, and Daru shows himself discontent with that unforeseen problem, he says, Those are the orders (Camus). Balducci as a man of law must follow whatever thing is said to him, and he will do it for sure without dubiety; in addition, Balducci remarks, [Y]ou must sign, that s the rule (Camus). He has to obey all the requisites and commandments that his work dictates, and he can t avoid doing this because he will break all the goodness that justice represents. Nevertheless, Camus tries to point out if a person who only follow a guide or manual for every decision he or she made. That person is, in fact, making no choices, and he or she does not have to face and think about what is right or wrong because that person will search and do whatever is said in that guide. There have been two movies made about purges, so it must be a good idea to have one for ourselves. The benefits of having a purge are, it is a stress reliever, controls the population count, and for a few hours you could be the most powerful person. The most ethical solution is to only resort to extreme methods of treatments if the patient is clearly seen as not being mentally stable enough to provide the right judgement call, and if they are in a life threatening situation in which they could potentially harm themselves or others. Kellner defends this treatment explaining that many controversies have arose regarding ECT because of misrepresentations of it in the media and lack of knowledge of the logistics of its mechanisms. Patient, Ms. A. , a 72 year old woman became seriously depressed and was not responding to any psychotherapy or drugs pertaining to clinical depression. She was barely able to function properly, and after a course of eight ECT sessions of unilateral ultrabrief pulse treatments , her score on the Hamilton Depression Rating scale, ranked out of 24, went from 38 to 6. Depression can lead to attempts at suicide as well as self harming ones self, so extreme punitive treatments are better to pursue than allowing the chance of a patient taking ones own life.(Feldman 1990, p. 263). These resources include the fossil fuels, minerals, natural vegetation, animals, air, water, sunlight, soil, etc. The rate of its consumption is increasing day by day. This ultimately leads to the ceasing of the resources to the earth s crust. The rising demand of these resources has led to a limited supply of these resources which has serious impacts to environmental damages like air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and the depletion of the ozone layer. Thus, there is an urgent need for mainly the industries to find an alternative approach reducing its unwanted effect on the environment. Manufacturing plays a very important role in an organization particularly to build competitive benefit and improve performance. Manufacturers have been neglecting their social environmental responsibility and have focused too much on their profits. The minimization of waste and pollution produced can be achieved by product and process designing. Green manufacturing is an emerging field as a solution taken by the industries in the recent years. A huge percentage of the UK has hard water which means the majority of the population have to face the cold hard truth of it: we re actually covering ourselves in soap scum. The soap scum then clogs our pores each time we use it and contributes to breakouts. The big problem with hard water is the fact that it has such a high mineral content which stops it from reacting with soap normally. Instead, it triggers a lather and creates a soapy layer upon the skin. This not only leads to very clogged pores but also irritates the skin too making it itchy, dry and sometimes flaky. Dr Dennis Gross from the U.S had this to say, These impurities in water make it difficult for soap and shampoo to wash off, leading to dryness of the skin and scalp, which directly irritate the skin and cause redness and rosacea. On top of this, there are also very strong correlations between hard water and skin disorders such as eczema. This is due to the minerals such as calcium, which when found in particularly high concentrations can cause a great loss of moisture to the skin and in turn lead to irritating conditions like eczema. A recent study at the University of Nottingham found in over 7,500 children of school age, conditions like eczema were becoming significantly more common for those within hard water areas than those in soft water areas. But knowing that Page 3 came after Page 2 was like knowing about catwalks also known as ramps and models; all this still didn t tell me what fashion was. And I was all agog to find ... • 39. Eyewitness Identification Evidence Essay Witness identification evidence is the second most incriminating type of evidence bar a confession (Brandon Davies, 1973 as cited by Valentine Heaton, 1999). However, The Innocence Project reports it is also the leading cause of wrongful convictions in the US, more specifically, 72% of DNA exoneration cases since 1989. The aim of line ups is to give the witness a fair test of recognition. Additionally, the suspect (who may be innocent) must also be given a fair chance. In the 1976 the Devlin Report was created following an investigation into a signification number of wrongful convictions. The aim of the report was to minimise convictions based on solely eye witness testimony. However, this rule is not specified in law indicating that false identifications are still a likely possibility. The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (1984) (UK code of practice) aims to increase the likelihood of accurate identifications by providing guidelines to law enforcements. Although PACE provides guidelines for how to conduct line ups, the incidence of false identifications is still common. It is of great importance to ensure that eyewitness identification of suspect s can be as accurate and reliable as possible, especially considering the frequency and importance of its use. Factors that affect the accuracy of eyewitness identification must be addressed and ameliorated to avoid future miscarriages of justice (i.e. prosecuting the wrong person). Whilst law enforcements may not have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Activation Synthesis Theory Of Sleep Sleep is a beautiful thing, but people do not get enough of it. It is a time for the body to rejuvenate and process the events of the day. Sleeping is something that we seek out. Getting the recommended amount of sleep allows our body to function properly the next day. Without it, there could be detrimental consequences. The National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke says that without sleep, neurons could be polluted with byproducts . In severe cases, people who get very little sleep often experience mood swings, hallucinations and cells do not continue to reproduce. According to the National Sleep Foundation, sleeping makes up one third of a person s lifetime. Despite that fact, people do not get nearly enough sleep to be productive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was not able to sleep as much during the school week. Monday night through Friday morning, I averaged five hours of sleep. Because I was unable to go through the four stages of sleep and REM sleep, I did not function to my fullest potential. During school, I found it difficult to focus. My lack of sleep did not allow me to remember very many of my dreams during the school week. From Friday night to Sunday night, I was able to sleep much more because I did not have a crushing amount of homework. Although I did sleep the recommended eight hours those days, I only remember a little snippet of a dream. From Friday night to Saturday morning, I remember my family and I on a beach together in Hawaii. Dreaming about Hawaii represents trying to escape your daily problems. That is fitting because the end of the school week oftentimes I want to forget all of the work that I have to accomplish over the coming weekend. Family represents security, warmth and love. This could be because I am leaving for college next year, and I do not fully know what will happen, and I desire a sense of warmth and love from my family. My dream follows the Activation Synthesis Hypothesis for two main reasons. It follows the parameter that the dream goes along with something going on in my life. The second reason is that my brain was trying to comprehend what was going ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Themes In For Whom The Bells Tolls We all are put to the test by having to make sacrifices like a life or death situation. Although the majority of those choices may be for the greater good, some can hurt others. We are put to the task, and we have several obstacles in our way, and it is our duty to accomplish that task. In Ernest Hemingway s For Whom the Bells Tolls, the character of Robert Jordan risks his life to fight fascism to do his duty, take care of Maria and to wash away his father suicide. To begin with, Robert Jordan takes care of the woman he loves, Maria. Ever since Robert Jordan went with the reclusive group in the mountain, the two of them had empathy of love towards each other. Robert Jordan tries to reject the adulation they have for each other because he thinks that after the bridge is blown, they will not see each other anymore. Maria refuses to think that and shows all her love towards him. Soon Robert Jordan seems to care more about Maria and uses their passion for each other as a distraction from the war. Hewson states that Jordan comes to realize that he and Maria are making an alliance against death through their love for each other (6). Their love for each other designates them forget about everything, and all they want to do is be together. The alliance against death that they have is significant in the story. • 44. Macbeth Desire For Power Analysis A power struggle is a common reoccurring event that is seen across literature , whether it s when a character is trying to escape a higher power, gain power for themselves, or both. Macbeth, from Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Macbeth portrays this perfectly. Macbeth s drive for power is the sole focus of the play and is an important trait that defines him as a character. The Tragedy of Macbeth is driven by an adoration for power. Shakespeare utilizes the main character, Macbeth, to speak to humanity s craving for power over one another. The first instance that Macbeth can be seen to show his drive for power is when the three witches tell him All hail, Macbeth! Shakespeare s use of imagery and detail conjure up scenes of oceans and rivers of blood and pitch black nights without starlight (Quote Credit). As Macbeth grapples with his conscience after he kills Banquo, because of his suspicion of King Duncan s murder, he starts to see daggers and the phantom of his closest companion before him. This leads to people starting to question Macbeth s mental stability. Macbeth additionally orders Banquo s son, Fleance,to be killed because of the witches proposal that Banquo shalt get kings, though thou be none, this shows that Macbeth s desire for power causes him to be paranoid and to kill one of his closest companions, as well as his son, if it were not for the desire of power that he is engulfed in (Quote Credit). • 46. Who Is King Daniel [2]In the beautiful city of Babylon, there once lived a man named Daniel. [1]He was an advisor to the king. Daniel was different from the other advisors. He believed in the one true God. One day, two of the king s other advisors watched as Daniel diligently prayed to God. [6]They hated Daniel. He was always praying to God for guidance and he was always honest. He wanted to do the right thing. The advisors despised him because of that. Then one day, as they watched Daniel pray, they came up with an evil idea. They would write up a document that would say that no one would be allowed to pray. [5]If they disobeyed this law they would be thrown into the Lion s Den like a piece of meat. [3]Suddenly, one day after the king had signed the document, they caught him defying the law and praying any way. They rushed into his room and dragged him to the king s throne room. The next morning Daniel saw streams of light peering thru the top of the entrance. [4]Hearing a noise above him, Daniel looked up. The king, who had worried about him all night, was prying the top off the cavern. Daniel, he shouted, are you alive? Did the God you believe and trust in protect you? The Three Strikes law was enacted in 1994 and is widely recognized as the harshest sentencing law in the United States. The State of Texas was the first State to enact such a law in 1974. At first a person convicted of two serious felonies, such as burglary of a residence and robbery, who then committed a third serious felony, such as another robbery, would only have been sentenced to seven years. The Three Strikes Law has overcrowded the prison system beyond capacity. The overcrowding has gotten to the point where courts are considering ordering the prisons to release some of the prisoners with many of these inmates not having received any rehabilitation or vocational training to prepare them for the outside world. Today, it costs about $20,000 per year to confine a young person that is physically fit, but three Strikes laws would create a huge, geriatric prison population that would be far more expensive to care for. The estimated cost of maintaining an older prisoner is three times that required for a younger prisoner. It would cost about $60,000 per year for an older prisoner. The cost might be worth it if older prisoners represented a danger to society. But experts tell us that age is the most powerful crime reducer. Most crimes are committed by men between the ages of 15 and 24. Three Strikes Law 5 Three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
