A Leader Who Inspired Me
1. I always assumed that leadership was more on how you managed people. If I accomplished the
days tasking successfully, I felt I led my people properly. After making Chief Petty Officer (CPO) in
2010, I started to see that leading was not managing and vice versa. As a CPO, it was not just about
"me" but more about those under me. Eventually when I advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer
(SCPO), things finally clicked on what leadership meant. I also started to realize what kind of leader
I was and how I wanted to lead. Now after almost 21 years of active duty service, I can confidently
state that leadership is about people and taking care of those people. It is not selfless and you must
practice what you preach. If you lead by example and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also need to improve on how I take those organizational goals and show how they line up with our
own as a team. By making these improvements, my team will have better buy in and understand
each of their roles they play for our goals and the organizations too.
3. As I mentioned, I tend to sit behind my desk too much. Part of that issue is when new members
check in and how I interact with those who have been working for me for years. Because of this, the
members who work for me do not know what appeals to me. I've never made it known to them what
appeals to me for the future. This just happens to be my second LPI/360 behavior I need to improve
on. I tend to be a reserve SCPO and a very private one at that. When my folks try to get to know me,
I do not give them much information. For me, I always thought it was a burden and should not have
anything to do with leading. I always felt that this is the military and as a senior leader, I should not
let my folks know what makes me tick. I realize that this is a mistake and by changing this behavior,
I can share my plans of the future to show those under me how I use strategic thinking and how it
can benefit them. Especially since most of the men and women who work for me are upwards of 20
years younger than me, I need to improve on discovering

The Purposeful Destruction Of Images
The Purposeful Destruction of Images Throughout the ages art has been subject to selective
destruction and spoliation. It has been taken by conquering peoples as spoils of war, put to material
re–use, and been subject to iconoclasm. Iconoclasm has been used as a means of not only purposeful
forgetting, but, also the preservation of memory as a warning to others motivated diversely by
ideology, religion, and politics. One artifact subject to iconoclasm is the painted portrait of
Septimius Severus and his family in which one face was scraped out leaving the other three
members untouched for political reasons and a demonstration of power. Another artifact affected by
iconoclasm is a famous Byzantine icon, the Virgin Hodegetria, which was taken to be the Virgin and
Christ Child by western Europe for religious purposes. "Breaking" the image in this figurative
manner gave little to no meaning to the original icon and stole its value in history. Another "victim"
of iconoclasm is a panel that once belonged to an arch of Marcus Aurelius that now adorns the arch
of Constantine (Elsner, p. 212). These three artifacts have all been purposefully altered in diverse
ways for different reasons, however, the fact remains that they have all faced damnatio memoriae,
spolia, and/or iconoclasm. Iconoclasm has been described in many ways, the most known definition
comes from Gardner 's Art through the Ages: A Global History by Fred Kleiner, iconoclasm is "the
destruction of religious or sacred

Senior Master Sergeant Smith Essay
Senior Master Sergeant Smith wasn't born yesterday, he could smell a trap a mile away and what he
just saw as the Colonel and doctor drove away with those people was all sorts of bad. He started to
gear up,
"What are you doing?" SSG Wo asked. "Get your shit on, it's getting ready to hit the fan." Senior
Master Sergeant told him. "You really think so?" "Yes I do Staff Sergeant. Now grab your gear and
let's get ready." The shuttle was not defenseless, it did have photon cannons and lasers, however not
to the same degree as the Gettysburg. "Bell get on top of the shuttle with the M–107, see what you
can see and let us know." "Roger that." Bell responded. "Wo grab some of those claymores and let's

cover, 'It's the power alright.' He said to himself. He grabbed SSG Wo and Bell, they moved to the
back of the building where Senior Master Sergeant Smith explained his plan. It sounded like a good
plan, as long as they executed it quickly, they got into position, SSG Bell and Wo stacked around the
corner and would toss in a flash–bang when the lights went out. "Ready?" Senior Master Sergeant
Smith asked in a whisper. SSG Bell and Wo signaled they were ready, with that Senior Master
Sergeant Smith switched off the electricity, SSG Bell moved up and around the corner quickly
tossing in a flash–bang grenade and pulled back. The PJ's pulled down their night vision goggles,
and turned away, once it went off they waited a few moments and then the three men charged into
the building, clearing the rooms, which were all empty until they got to the conference room where

Leadership and Organization Structure Essay
Leadership and Organization Structure All organizations have a structure; criminal justice is much
as the military in regards to having a chain of command that delegates his/her authority downward
from the major command element (Stohr & Collins, 2014). Max Weber defined the characteristics of
a bureaucracy as the following: there is a hierarchy of authority that has several levels where each
level is controlled by the one above them and includes formal procedures (Stillman, 2010; Stohr &
Collins, 2014). Each position is divided with no overlap of duties and the work environment would
be impersonal with employment decisions based on the employees technical qualifications
(Stillman, 2010; Stohr & Collins, 2014).
In a bureaucratic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within law enforcement, the hierarchy would look something like this: chief, assistant chief, major,
lieutenant on down to the line officers. Courts would have a judge, prosecutor, defense attorney,
bailiff, clerk, etc. and corrections would be warden, colonel, lieutenant colonel, major, captain,
lieutenant, sergeant and correctional officer (Stohr & Collins, 2014). As you can see law
enforcement and corrections is very similar to the military rank structure. Directives will flow from
the top echelon to the middle and then to the lowest level. In law enforcement, it is a general thought
that at certain times of the month speeding tickets seem to increase and we jokingly say the officer
must be trying to make his monthly quota. If this statement is indeed true, then, it implies that the
supervisor is checking the number of written tickets, therefore, placing more emphasis on the
quantity not the quality of work. Holding employees accountable is paramount; however, when
superiors are micromanaging, valuable time is wasted. The time could have been utilized reviewing
the results of the subordinate's actions. When law enforcement officers are forced to adopt

Lighthouse 's Distinctive Capabilities Are Trustworthiness...
Lighthouse's distinctive capabilities are trustworthiness and service. Our advisors love to educate
their clients, they do not pressure anyone into something that is not a good fit, and there is great
delivery on promises once a relationship is formed. Because of this, there is never a lack of referrals.
Lighthouse is a small business, there are not multiple departments. One benefit of a small business is
that the advisors make key decisions as a group. For example, in January we left our former broker
dealer and moved to LPL Financial, LLC. Everyone cooperated with the decision and began the
substantial task of repapering all accounts. The CEO of Lighthouse is also the principal advisor of
the firm. He values the use of some analytics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stage four organizations have to smooth over any remaining barriers to becoming an analytical
competitor. For instance, it could be a matter of changing the culture, ensuring decisions from upper
management are being followed through on lower levels. In order to transition to the next stage, the
company needs to strategize and focus on one or two traits that lead to an advantage. Stage five
organizations have all the components necessary to be considered an analytical competitor. The
company is exploring new metrics, examining their processes and looking for ways to improve. The
company has the data, technologies, and staff to remain competitive and profitable. In order for
Lighthouse to move through the final two stages there would need to be significant resources
devoted to increasing data available, purchasing software, and implementing ongoing analytics
projects and future planning.
How does your company create competitive advantage with analytics? Analytics is using data,
performing analyses and adjusting business processes and goals with that information (Davenport
and Harris, 2007). Unfortunately, Lighthouse is not creating a competitive advantage with analytics
at this time. The data is not available and the emphasis on analytics is not present.
How does your company compete internally on analytics? Lighthouse is not competently competing
internally on analytics. There are no shareholders, thus the only reporting that is done is

RE: Advice and Analysis on your meetings regarding future of Levendary Café China
WORDS: (803 word)
______________________________________________________________________________
Statement of Problem
The following three issues were the main problems in Levendary:
1. Louis Chen, Levendary's hand–picked president unwillingness to follow to the company's
direction and reporting status. This problem stems up from how he was introduced to the business.
Leventhal gave him abroad latitude to execute his plans in establishing a strong market position as a
base franchise outlet throughout China.
2. Reporting system was adopted from U.S Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which was not
a suitable practice for the growing China market.
3. For a whole year, no senior executive had visited China to see what Chen was doing. Lack of
supervision could have caused Chen to set his rules and how to operate the China market.
Decisions
1. The most important decision to take on this problem will be to ensure:
2. There are documented cultural competent management reporting system that will fit in many
cultures including China.
3. Lavendary should have more formal hiring process with set regulations to avoid more cases
similar to Chen's case.
4. The failure to supervise Chen for a whole year can be corrected by ensuring that the company has
executive and CEO meeting regularly so that important decisions on

Modeling Leaders And Training On Different Areas Of...
Introduction I view a leader as a dependable person that motivates and encourages others to perform
to the best of their ability. Being a leader means you lead by example so that others are inspired to
follow (Stojkovic, Kalinich & Klofas, 2015). Leaders exist in our everyday lives, regardless if they
assume the title or not Stojkovic, et al, 2015. Some of these leaders are family, peers, friends, co–
workers and professors Stojkovic, et al, 2015. Modeling leaders and training in different areas at my
past jobs have allowed me to excel in areas of communication, customer service and time
management. These individuals gave me the drive to be a better person and achieve excellent results
doing everyday tasks. As a result, I could count on these people for help if I am unsure of my job
responsibilities and they would be more than happy to assist me. Confidence, passion, patience,
integrity and transparency are some of the fine qualities of a leader (Stojkovic, et al, 2015).
Therefore, strong trustworthy leaders treat others the way they would like to be treated (Stojkovic, et
al, 2015). Furthermore, leaders clearly communicate their expectations in a clear and understandable
manner to other people. Leaders try to create a safe environment that fosters creativity, ambition,
social engagement and innovation among the employees (Stojkovic, et al, 2015). Therefore,
frontline workers are allowed the discretion to make decisions regarding the job (Stojkovic, et al,
2015). I will

1. My entire career was spent at Computer Associates and while I can't tell you first–hand about the
pressures in other companies or industries I believe that CA was among the most aggressive in its
pursuit of goals, a fact often relayed to me by my industry peers. Both the CEO and I exerted
significant pressure on our teams to meet the goals that we had set for ourselves. As you would
expect this has a trickle–down effect to others in the organization. While from this perspective
performance was measured by internal goals at an executive level these targets were primarily
driven by the expectations set by outside parties, primarily the analyst community. While
institutional investors were very important their buy, sell, hold decisions ... Show more content on

The challenge is always in balancing the complexity of a compensation plan with the desired
behavior. We spent a significant amount of time aligning the compensation of employees to the
corporate goals.
7. Option compensation will continue to be a critical component of compensation for executives as
it simplistically aligns the executives' pay to shareholder value in its simplest sense. I don't believe
that options compensation is the primary driver of behavior when things shift from the legal to the
illegal. As with most senior executives in industry, ego is a huge driver in individual behavior.
Compensation is important, but the recognition of your performance is sometimes even more
important. We have created a performance driven culture without the necessary control framework
for people to operate within. One minute you are doing a great job, the next you have crossed an
imaginary line. The frameworks don't do enough to quantify behavior as legal and illegal leaving
inconsistent rules for organizations to operate within. How does Enron compare to the subprime
mortgage debacle, or to Steve Jobs backdating options. There remains too much room for
interpretation.
8. Probably covered in the above. Some other forces would include employee wellbeing, customer

Literature Review : Hiring Managers Are Hiring Caucasians...
LITERATURE REVIEW
Hypothesis 1: Hiring managers are hiring Caucasians for Senior Level Executive positions over
minority applicants.
In America, cultural sounding names are prevalent. People attribute certain cultural names with
racial groups. For example, Lakisha Johnson and Jamal Wilson may be seen as names of African
Americans While Emily Adams and Connor Backham, may be seen as Caucasian names. Marianne
Bertrans and Sendhill Mullainathan conducted a study on race in the labor market by sending
fictitious resumes to help–wanted ads in Boston and Chicago newspapers. To manipulate perceived
race, resumes were randomly assigned African–American or White–sounding names before being
sent to jobs around the Boston and Chicago area. White names received 50 percent more callback
for interviews compared to the African–American names. They also found the racial gap to be
uniform across occupation, industry and employer size. In fact, Bertans and Mullainathan found
evidence that inferred social class from the names.
This study was particular interesting because it presented research as to how employers are using
prejudice attitudes when extending interviews. This study aids to our research because it shows how
hiring managers are denying cultural sounding names even before an interview. Despite their
qualified experience, skills or education, they are overlooked therefore more attention is giving
toward other applicants which could result in Caucasians being offered the

6. Management reaction: Manager didn't react properly when receiving bad news from subordinates
for example when Simon Jones received letter from SIMEX that Nick has violated the rule by
prohibit member financing from trading margin of that customer. However, after Nick explained to
Ron that it was only a customer account number and he will need to take a look at it later, Ron didn't
investigate the case any deeper.
7. Report of noncompliance: when instances of noncompliance are reported, board members and
senior executives didn't take appropriate action and ensure effective action through testing. For
example, Simon Jones didn't take into consideration some suspicious problem that he found out
from Nick's activities such as the 88888 account number and the missing of 7.89 billion yen. He
believed everything Nick said without doing any check–up on him. Besides, all they care about is
the bottom–line profit, so as long as Nick presented to them a huge amount of profit, then they were
satisfied.
8. Internal and external information: board members and senior executives didn't receive internal
and external information from accounting and other information system to make informed and
timely decisions. Internal auditor was asked to investigate on Nick's case but she didn't get

Analyzing and Interpreting Data
Analyzing and Interpreting Data As a consultant, Team A has analyzed and interpreted the second
set of data. The intent is to increase senior management's understanding of the sources of employee
dissatisfaction and too create a model that predicts employee resignation. The process will be to
combine the week two learning team assignment and week three findings with week five findings
and make recommendations to BIMS by using the statistical tables given in the appendices of the
textbook and a statistical analysis application.
Combined Weeks and Recommendations to BIMS The valuable information the first survey has
given the employees is if employees would like to stay if he or she was offered some type of bonus

When the employees feel as if they themselves, as stated by the survey and face–to–face interviews,
will not work as hard and as an overall will hurt the company as a whole and they would like the
senior management to take into account their disgrievences and communicate better with them.
Model for Predicting Employee Resignation BIMS has developed a model for predicting employee
resignation and turnover. After reviewing the surveys as well as the exit interviews; BIMS has
developed a model based on logistics regression and then analyzing the turnover. They have
developed five hypotheses from previous research of the effects of different factors affecting
resignations and turnovers. The first hypothesis is based on the length that an employee has been
with BIMS and that the more time invested in the company, the less likely they will resign. The
belief is that increased tenure strengthens the propensity for employees to remain. The second
hypothesis is that higher performing employees are less likely to resign than average to lower
performing employees. One way to ensure higher performance is to implement a contingent reward
system. In the event of continued low performance from certain employees, BIMS must be aware of
the withdraw process: a major reduction in performance, possibly to unacceptable levels, and ending
with resignation. The third hypothesis

Rise of Disciplinary Problems
The rise of disciplinary problems among students in SMK Jalan Bunga

Recently, there has been a drastic rise in disciplinary cases among the students of SMK Jalan Bunga,
Sg. Panjang. It has caught the attention of many teachers and myself as the Head Prefect of this
school. We do not want this scenario to continuously ruin the good reputation of this school. A
survey and interviews have been carried out to investigate the core reasons towards this alarming
issue. It has been identified that there are many causes that have led to this serious problem. ... Show

However, they do not actually realize the importance of practicing it in daily life.
On top of that, financial problems also contribute to the students' misbehavior. Due to lack of
money, some students steal other students' money or belonging . There have been many cases of
money being stolen and bags with new books lost too. Although they can be categorized as
underprivileged students, this does not give them the right to steal other peoples' money and things.
They should however be given help by the school authority.
Apart from that, peer pressure is definitely one of the reasons why students are involved in
disciplinary cases. Nowadays, there is a current trend where 'good is bad' and 'bad is good'. The bad
guys in school are seen as 'cool' and the good guys are seen as 'nerds'. Thus, some students join these
bad gangs to be well–known and if they do not join or do not carry out disciplinary problems, they
may be labeled as 'losers'. This will demotivate them thus in the end, they feel that they have no
choice except for being a follower of the 'gangsters'. If not, they may lose friends and power.
On top of that, influence from mass media is also a factor. The mass media controls teenagers in
many ways and especially in terms of behavior. The students tend to 'copycat' what they see in the
internet, television, movies and etc. However, the sad

The Basilica Of Rome
QUINTUS OCTAVIUS exited his litter, having just traversed the winding streets and narrow
avenues of the Aventine, and hurried up the steps of the Basilica Julia. He had just concluded some
business for his client Lollius Capito, leasing out some empty warehouses to a Sicilian merchant,
whilst selling the deed of another to a vintner from Antium, liquidating some of Capito's vacant
properties. It was late afternoon and the Forum was bustling, for it was business as usual here in the
great city of Rome; Octavius scarcely arrived at the proposed hour of his appointment for all the
pedestrian hubbub and cart traffic afoot. Rome is ever the center of commerce and trade in the
Empire, he thought wryly. Alexandria is but a small–time metropolis compared to our fabulous
Eternal City! Octavius had other important business to transact today, but under the roof and ample
porticoes of the Basilica Julia, the greatest courthouse in Rome. He strode into the Great Hall of the
Basilica on his way to meet a friend, another lawyer, and one who had some titillating information
to relay. He politely pushed his way past knots of loitering equestrians and toga–clad patricians,
making his way to the second floor where the light streamed abundantly through the windows of the
upper clerestory. It was there he was to meet an old friend and former associate. Octavius found him
amid an audience of very respectable men, listening to the strong–lunged orator pleading before one

Rotary Club Scholarship
First, before I unfold the reasons as to why I deserve the honor of receiving this well–esteemed

challenges will facilitate my chances of achieving the Rotary Club scholarship.
As a student who is not nearly at the precipice of adulthood, it is very challenging to lay down future

My Moms Were Right From The National Honor Society
My Moms Were Right
Being in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that a high school student can earn.
It opens up opportunities for scholarships, looks great on college applications, and shows that I'm on
the right path for my future. I've dreamt about being in NHS for years, knowing its strong reputation
and prestige. Now that the moment is here I'm actually happy to say there is something my moms
were right about.
My moms raised me with a strong set of morals, including "hard work pays off." Sometimes this can
be discouraging when you work hard, but it doesn't pay off as you'd like it to. I've always gotten the
grades I strive for without much struggle. However, once high school started, everything changed.
I'd work for weeks on a scholarship essay, and I wouldn't even place. I'd work for months to get
something published and then read other people's names in the congratulations announcement. I'd
constantly wonder: Who's at the top of the class? Who's going to win the end of year awards? When
you consistently get the grades that I do, people just expect those grades. No one congratulates you
on your hard work anymore, and you don't always get recognized. Despite the lack of recognition, I
still take pride in my grades, and continue to work hard. Getting great grades is something I know I
can do, even when it's difficult to do. The difficulty makes it even more satisfying when I see the
hard work pay off, and I get the grade I wanted. I've encountered

A Senior Prefect is a campus leader and positive role model for the student body in general and as a

maintaining a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all 45 house members. In addition, the role also
required I build a solid relationship with the Housemasters in order to act as the primary student
liaison on house issues.
A bullying situation that occurred in the fall of my senior year that required me to be effective on all
these fronts. All year long, I engaged in frequent and informal dialogues with house members. My
goal was to be approachable and inclusive with the entire house. The resulting relationships created
a non–threatening environment in which students shared concerns about their Dickinson House

Final International Emergency Disaster Management
Final International Emergency Disaster Management

David A. Kennedy
University of Florida
Abstract
Through the years, many countries have adopted the same guidelines when it comes to emergency
management. The system is ever changing with the types of hazards countries have to deal with, and
so is the knowledge to mitigate them. As counties adopt this universal system, it provides them with
an easier way to give and receive outside aid before, throughout and after an event or disaster.
Although very similar there seems to always be some differences around the world. Emergency
management and disaster response in France is very similar to the United States. Because of these
similarities each country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On The GAA In 1916
Although there were some significant changes evident in the GAA in Dublin in 1917 the majority of
the Association in Dublin remained the same as before.
The GAA in Dublin had a large increase in the number of clubs affiliated to it since the 1915
convention, with seventy clubs listed at the Annual Convention of 1916 which was held on 14
January 1917. Some of the new clubs were named in memory of those killed during the 1916.1
William Nolan notes that the Volunteers from North Dublin, founded the Thomas Weafer GAA
Club, in memory of the Wexford–born member of the GPO Garrison, whose brother Patrick, a
member of St Laurence O Tooles GAA club who had also fought in the same Garrison.2 It is also
important to note that Erin's Isle GAA club in Finglas, was founded in January 1917 by a number of
men involved in the Volunteers with direct links to those who fought in the Easter ... Show more

Many historians such as David Fitzpatrick claim that the increase in the number of spectators was
due to the fact that the GAA had become radicalised in the nationalist culture of Ireland during
19178 but it could also be argued that the reason for the increase was the fact that the GAA in
Dublin had seventy clubs in January 1917, a number which grew to eighty–eight clubs by the 1917
convention, held on 3 February 1918. This was a significant number on the amount of clubs in
Kilkenny (Tipperary's opponents in 1916) which had an estimated sixteen clubs.9Therefore, Dublin
had more members and significantly also the game was played at Croke Park meaning that the
spectators in Dublin were not required to travel long distances to the final in 1917 whereas the
spectators of the teams in the 1916 had to do

My Stage Fright Speech
"This is Representative Mohan speaking for the first time today. As always, I'm at the leisure of the
chamber, Mr. Speaker, and the judges. Please give me a nod when ready." Saying these words, I
walk up to the front of the room, place my name placard on the lectern, and let out a short breath of
excitement. In my head, I tell myself, "They'll never be ready for this", just enough self–affirmation
to get my anxious–as–usual self amped up before I deliver an impassioned speech in Congressional
debate. Competing in debate since the ninth grade has helped me discover my true fervor for public

The Sea At A Steady Speed
THE ROYAL QUINQUEREME cut thru the sea at a steady speed, its ten tiers of oars–five on each
side–rowing in perfect harmony, all synchronized with the thudding cadence of the Hortator's heavy
hammers. Its massive square–rigged sail was billowing majestically as the wind blew from the west,
aiding the banks of rowers on the benches, pushing the giant warship across the water and ever
closer to Alexandria. The skies were sunny and the seas were calm, perfect weather for a long sea
voyage. A few days earlier, the galley, along with its escort of two naval triremes, had traversed the
narrow Straits of Messina, and now cruised east to the southern tip of Greece, fast approaching the

Pursuing My A-Degree In Biology
According to The Census of Marine Life, there could be as many as 8.7 million species on this
planet. Assuming just 1% of these species go extinct each year, we estimate that around 9 species
disappear each hour. With background extinction levels reaching up to 1000x higher than the natural
rate, this means to me Zoology is more critical than ever if we wish to preserve and protect life.
Growing up obsessed with any animal documentary I could find, my love for animals has never
been doubted by friends or family. The relationships between species, their environments, and their
physiology and behaviour have always been aspects that fascinate me and capture my imagination.
My A–Level in Biology is key to completing my journey. The exam board Salters–Nuffield
Advanced Biology has helped to provide key skills that others may not have. Throughout my course
we focus not just on the theory behind biological aspects, but also on the application of it in the lab.

Summary : ' Emperor Commodus '
Roman Emperor Commodus HIEU 322–B01 Joel Leviten October 6, 2016
Emperor Commodus By all accounts was a handsome man, with curly blonde hair. But he appeared
to possess a weak character and was easily influenced by others. But so too was he prone to cruelty
and excessive behavior. To an extent his behavior was still held in check, when his father was still
alive, although then too some believed to detect the signs of a new Nero in the young heir. Cassius '
earlier rebellion, when he mistakenly thought Marcus Aurelius had died, might well have been
inspired by a fear of what was to come if Commodus came to the throne. Commodus was a crazed
power lunatic who thought he was a God and fought in the Gladiator events thinking he could not
die. Commodus was in fact a terrible one. Cruelty, vanity, power and fear formed into a terrifyingly
dangerous mix of bloodlust, suspicion and megalomania. Commodus should be remembered as a
monster, a tyrant who renamed months in his own honor, and who slaughtered his way through the
circuses in ludicrous displays of 'manliness '.
Lucius Aurelius Commodus was born on 31 August AD 161 at Lanuvium, roughly 14 miles south
east of Rome. Of the fourteen children of Marcus Aurelius

Air Force: An Example Of A Negative Leader
Negative Leader Robert E. Lee once said of leadership, "I cannot trust a man to control others who
cannot control himself" (Jones, 1875). This is an instance where I believe that even though this idea
or thought was mentioned many years ago, it still has relevance today. I do not have an exact date of
that quote, but with General Lee fighting in the Civil War, I would imagine it came somewhere in
the mid–1800's (The book it is found in was published after his death). Our current military leaders
need to listen to advice like this quote, get out and know the people they put in charge so they are
better able to make decisions on who should and should not actually be leading. In the past couple
of years there have been some nasty headlines made by the Air Force for things that should never
have been issues in the first place if there was proper leadership in charge. On the officer side there
has been a 2–star general bringing embarrassment to the Air Force by getting excessively drunk in
public while on a high–visibility trip to Russia, to widespread cheating on academic tests at the Air
Force Academy and on certification tests for the officers in charge of nuclear missile sites and codes.
On the enlisted side there was an epidemic of Military Training Instructors sexually assaulting
females attending Basic Training. Gross displays of supposed leaders abusing their roles are not just
taking place in the newspapers. It is happening at every level, and it is weakening our

Jerry Hendrickson Research Paper
When I first met Jerry Hendrickson, I thought he was pretty outgoing. I was sitting with my friend,
Maddie, at a table in the corner of the dining room at Morningside of Branson Meadows. He was
laughing already, which made me think he was a jokester. We were instantly able to hit it off
because he was really easy to talk to, which made asking questions and actually connecting with
him a lot easier.
He started off by telling us about his childhood, which was rough, but he did not let that tear down
his spirit. Which is something I look up to because I have dealt with similar situations with my
family. He was born in 1931 and lived with his mom, dad, and sister. He had two brothers as well,

He was only sixteen so he had to fake his birth certificate so he could enlist. While in the Navy,

young Jerry. Jerry was a Petty Officer 2nd Class and an aircraft engine mechanic while in the Navy.
Three months before his three year contract ended with the Navy, the Korean War began, so Jerry
could not be discharged. This led to him reenlisting in the Navy for another six years. After the time
he served in the Navy, someone suggested he go to the Air Force. His brother suggested he go to San

very interested in airplanes. He served in the Air Force for eleven years, and then retired at the age

How to Add Value to the Hiring Process by Improving...
Annotation
This is a review of an article which discusses the different techniques of hiring the right, mainly in
this case, senior executives. This article aims to provide leaders with guidance on how to add value
to the hiring process by improving their recruiting diagnostics. The article focuses on a concept
which is referred to as fit and unpacks. This concept breaks down into sub–categories which are, fit
with the job, fit with the leader, fit with the team, and fit with the organization. Instead of the
traditional approach of recruiting and assessing candidates based on the current needs of the
organization, this concept also addresses the current and emerging talent requirements. The article
also considers the types of questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If leaders follow the techniques discussed in the article, they can avoid many expensive
consequences of hiring unfit candidates.
The article discusses three fronts on which "being fit" is composed of. One of the fronts is being fit
for the job. The list of candidates will of course be able to meet the technical demands of the job as
well as have the skills, experience, and be on the right career path but these are expected credentials.
The leader must be able to look past these credentials and focus on the depth of the candidate's
experience. A good way to do this would be to focus on the extent to which they have demonstrated
the qualities they talk about in their past work activities. Focusing on just what the candidate says
they have done and the qualities they have can distract a leader from what is really important such as
the quality and performance of their previous work.
Another topic discussed which I agree with is whether the candidate is entrepreneurial or is more
comfortable improving something which already exist. The leader must decide what they are
looking for. If I am looking for someone to come in a break up the current system then someone
with more entrepreneurial traits would be the right candidate. If I was looking for someone who
could improve the current system, then I would look for the candidate who has past experience
doing so.
The article refers to asking

What Can We Do For You?
Erica returned to sick bay to check on Wallace, he was still in his cocoon, Elle stated that the
information she has that it would take up to twenty–four hours for the transformation. When he or it
awoke it would be ravenous, it would have no problem eating any of the crew. Marybeth explained
to Erica that part she wasn't surprised by it, her and Wallace were scheduled to be the evening meal

would they feed it. According to Elle it would only eat meat and would consume huge quantities of
it, far more than they had on board. Erica has asked Major Wakowski and Senior Master Sergeant

wouldn't discuss it over the communications system. They told her they would be right up, and true

Jack Welch Paper
The analogy of a leader involves the head, the heart, and the feet, but according to Welch, there are
four essential traits of leadership, a female trait, and two critical questions. I would rightly conclude
that the seven characteristics of Jack Welch do not cover the bases and the analogy of a leader. The
seven characteristics of a leader that Jack Welch looks for in a leader emphasizes more on one area
than the others. There is more emphasis on the heart than the other areas. From the ideology of the
analogy, I discovered that Jack Welch`s characteristics have about 71 % of it concentrated on the
heart.
I disagree with how Jack Welch`s prioritized those characteristics because I personally think that
passion should be the first the seven characteristics because it is the force that empowers one to take
an initiative in a certain field. The second characteristic should be energy because before one can be

Critical Analysis of the Nut Island Effect
The Nut Island Effect (NIE) is a sad but true outcome of what happens when communication
breakdown within an organization. The following is a critical analysis of the events that ended in a
terrible catastrophe at the Nut Island treatment plant. In our analysis we will cover the following
topics as well as reference supporting articles and excerpts that will support our position: 1. Key
arguments in the article. 2. Sampling and analytical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Till this day, employees that worked at the plant believed they did the best they could with what they
had to work with. Furthermore, there was no trust between management and employees.
We believe that improving the health and communication of an organization is a priority. Moreover,
it is important to put employee needs first as well as sharing information regularly. Companies such
as Southwest Airlines and Amazon.com instill this discipline in efforts to improve the quality of
their organization's ideals.
Implications of Results and it Relevance
When examining the results of the NIE, there were evident signs that should have been acted upon;
this might have avoided this collapse.
"Managing remote teams takes much more involvement and care than any of us would have
imagined, especially when the remote teams have a history of acting independently. We encounter
even more challenging issues when the remote teams are inexperienced in information development
because they are located offshore in emerging economies." (Hackos, 2004)
As Levy (2001) points out, "a team can easily lose sight of the big picture when it narrowly focuses
on a demanding task. The task itself becomes the big picture, crowding other considerations out of
the frame."

Every JROTC class is subjected different forms of curriculums compared to other classes in the
school.
Each class is divided into four year groups: first years, second years, third years, and fourth years.
Each year group is taught different aspects of leadership education and aerospace science. Through
the four years, cadets are taught how to be a leader.
Once a cadet reaches his or her fourth year, he or she will be given the opportunity to become a
flight commander. As a flight commander, cadets are expected to take control of the class in the
absence of an instructor or lead them in a lesson or assignment. Different flight commanders have
their own motivations to lead cadets. Cadet Colonel Chase Winans' motivation is "to help build the
foundations of future leaders".
Our program in and outside has impacted cadets lives forever. We have received thank you notes
from cadets that have graduated two to six years before. Cadets even now are realizing the impact of
our corps.
Cadet Technical Sergeant Connor Kennedy responses how the corps has impacted him:
"When I joined AFJROTC I couldn 't speak in front of an audience, I wasn 't going to go to college,
and I didn 't have very many motivating factors in my life. Almost two full years after I joined, I
score well on every speaking project I do, I want to go to college, and I am surrounded by an

Cornel Mba. In A Concise Statement, Tell Us Why You Are
Cornel MBA
In a concise statement, tell us why you are seeking an MBA. Specifically, what are your short and
long–term career goals? And, how will an MBA earned through an Executive MBA program at
Cornell University help you achieve your goals? (400 words)
The Executive MBA program at Cornell University was suggested to me by my husband as we have
been discussing my need for managing my own business and a career change. The weekend
structure of the classes works perfectly with my busy schedule as a career woman, wife and mother
to a toddler. The 17–month completion time is also attractive because I can get into a new role
sooner than the traditional two years. Finally having interactive boardroom meetings right here in

Include two examples of situations that helped you develop your style. One example should be a
positive situation that helped to shape or reaffirm it. The other example should be a situation with an
unsuccessful outcome that led you to change or redefine that style.(400 words)
A servant leader is one who leads by example. I describe myself as a servant leader because I like to
be in the work with the people I lead. Leading by example has helped me be a more successful
leader with a loyal following because they believe I have their best interest at heart. This type of
leadership helped me to successfully move the needle of success for my high school boarding house,
where I was the house prefect. When used in the workplace in recent years, I learned that to prevent
burnout I had to delegate and not necessarily do everything with the team.
Being the Kingsley house prefect of over one hundred teenage girls came with many challenges
since I was a teen myself. My role was to manage the work schedule for the maintenance of the
house, coordinate a team of nine team leads to monitor the daily schedules, prepare for inter–house
competitions; including sports, gardening, cleaning and much more. My biggest challenge was to
get the seniors involved. The trend in past years was for lower classmen to do all the work,

Descriptive Essay About School
I heard footsteps coming closer from the white newly polished hall across the room. My hands are
shaking, I'm sweating from my forehead down. I'm as nervous as I could and will ever be. Is school
finally over or, is it a teacher coming to give us more work? Even worse is the principal coming?
Hopefully, if I'm lucky it's just a student coming back from the filthy, smelly, gross bathroom. Oh,
thank god it's just Ellie, my best friend. We've been besties since preschool. She has blonde hair,
brown eyes, and always wears her long, luxurious hair in a high, sleek ponytail. To think about it,
we're kind of like a power couple. Blonde and brunette. I also have long hair just not as long as
Ellie's. I have brown hair, blue eyes, and I always wear cute dresses. At least I think they're cute.
Ellie says I need a style change. My name's Valerie but you can call me V. All my friends call me
that.
RING RING RING RING
That's the loud, annoying, pounding bell. Usually I'd be disgusted to hear that bell because it would
mean I had to go to another class.(I'm still getting used to that even though we started this senior
year a couple of weeks ago.) Today it's different though. It sounds like music in my ears because
today, at this time, that blessing of a bell means school is over. Well, at least the day is. And do you
know what that means? Time to create some pranks because it's senior prank day!
Ellie and I race to the gym to meet up with the rest of our friends and the whole 12th

A Leader Who Inspired Me

  • 1. A Leader Who Inspired Me 1. I always assumed that leadership was more on how you managed people. If I accomplished the days tasking successfully, I felt I led my people properly. After making Chief Petty Officer (CPO) in 2010, I started to see that leading was not managing and vice versa. As a CPO, it was not just about "me" but more about those under me. Eventually when I advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO), things finally clicked on what leadership meant. I also started to realize what kind of leader I was and how I wanted to lead. Now after almost 21 years of active duty service, I can confidently state that leadership is about people and taking care of those people. It is not selfless and you must practice what you preach. If you lead by example and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also need to improve on how I take those organizational goals and show how they line up with our own as a team. By making these improvements, my team will have better buy in and understand each of their roles they play for our goals and the organizations too. 3. As I mentioned, I tend to sit behind my desk too much. Part of that issue is when new members check in and how I interact with those who have been working for me for years. Because of this, the members who work for me do not know what appeals to me. I've never made it known to them what appeals to me for the future. This just happens to be my second LPI/360 behavior I need to improve on. I tend to be a reserve SCPO and a very private one at that. When my folks try to get to know me, I do not give them much information. For me, I always thought it was a burden and should not have anything to do with leading. I always felt that this is the military and as a senior leader, I should not let my folks know what makes me tick. I realize that this is a mistake and by changing this behavior, I can share my plans of the future to show those under me how I use strategic thinking and how it can benefit them. Especially since most of the men and women who work for me are upwards of 20 years younger than me, I need to improve on discovering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Purposeful Destruction Of Images The Purposeful Destruction of Images Throughout the ages art has been subject to selective destruction and spoliation. It has been taken by conquering peoples as spoils of war, put to material re–use, and been subject to iconoclasm. Iconoclasm has been used as a means of not only purposeful forgetting, but, also the preservation of memory as a warning to others motivated diversely by ideology, religion, and politics. One artifact subject to iconoclasm is the painted portrait of Septimius Severus and his family in which one face was scraped out leaving the other three members untouched for political reasons and a demonstration of power. Another artifact affected by iconoclasm is a famous Byzantine icon, the Virgin Hodegetria, which was taken to be the Virgin and Christ Child by western Europe for religious purposes. "Breaking" the image in this figurative manner gave little to no meaning to the original icon and stole its value in history. Another "victim" of iconoclasm is a panel that once belonged to an arch of Marcus Aurelius that now adorns the arch of Constantine (Elsner, p. 212). These three artifacts have all been purposefully altered in diverse ways for different reasons, however, the fact remains that they have all faced damnatio memoriae, spolia, and/or iconoclasm. Iconoclasm has been described in many ways, the most known definition comes from Gardner 's Art through the Ages: A Global History by Fred Kleiner, iconoclasm is "the destruction of religious or sacred ... Senior Master Sergeant Smith Essay Senior Master Sergeant Smith wasn't born yesterday, he could smell a trap a mile away and what he just saw as the Colonel and doctor drove away with those people was all sorts of bad. He started to gear up, "What are you doing?" SSG Wo asked. "Get your shit on, it's getting ready to hit the fan." Senior Master Sergeant told him. "You really think so?" "Yes I do Staff Sergeant. Now grab your gear and let's get ready." The shuttle was not defenseless, it did have photon cannons and lasers, however not to the same degree as the Gettysburg. "Bell get on top of the shuttle with the M–107, see what you can see and let us know." "Roger that." Bell responded. "Wo grab some of those claymores and let's get them set up, after that we need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the same time Senior Master Sergeant Smith was studying the building, he was looking for a way to knock out the lights, he spotted what look like and injunction box, we walked over and lifted the cover, 'It's the power alright.' He said to himself. He grabbed SSG Wo and Bell, they moved to the back of the building where Senior Master Sergeant Smith explained his plan. It sounded like a good plan, as long as they executed it quickly, they got into position, SSG Bell and Wo stacked around the corner and would toss in a flash–bang when the lights went out. "Ready?" Senior Master Sergeant Smith asked in a whisper. SSG Bell and Wo signaled they were ready, with that Senior Master Sergeant Smith switched off the electricity, SSG Bell moved up and around the corner quickly tossing in a flash–bang grenade and pulled back. The PJ's pulled down their night vision goggles, and turned away, once it went off they waited a few moments and then the three men charged into the building, clearing the rooms, which were all empty until they got to the conference room where they found the two that called themselves Martatha and Econlock, but no Colonel or ... • 13. Leadership and Organization Structure Essay Leadership and Organization Structure All organizations have a structure; criminal justice is much as the military in regards to having a chain of command that delegates his/her authority downward from the major command element (Stohr & Collins, 2014). Max Weber defined the characteristics of a bureaucracy as the following: there is a hierarchy of authority that has several levels where each level is controlled by the one above them and includes formal procedures (Stillman, 2010; Stohr & Collins, 2014). Each position is divided with no overlap of duties and the work environment would be impersonal with employment decisions based on the employees technical qualifications (Stillman, 2010; Stohr & Collins, 2014). In a bureaucratic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within law enforcement, the hierarchy would look something like this: chief, assistant chief, major, lieutenant on down to the line officers. Courts would have a judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, bailiff, clerk, etc. and corrections would be warden, colonel, lieutenant colonel, major, captain, lieutenant, sergeant and correctional officer (Stohr & Collins, 2014). As you can see law enforcement and corrections is very similar to the military rank structure. Directives will flow from the top echelon to the middle and then to the lowest level. In law enforcement, it is a general thought that at certain times of the month speeding tickets seem to increase and we jokingly say the officer must be trying to make his monthly quota. If this statement is indeed true, then, it implies that the supervisor is checking the number of written tickets, therefore, placing more emphasis on the quantity not the quality of work. Holding employees accountable is paramount; however, when superiors are micromanaging, valuable time is wasted. The time could have been utilized reviewing the results of the subordinate's actions. When law enforcement officers are forced to adopt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our advisors love to educate their clients, they do not pressure anyone into something that is not a good fit, and there is great delivery on promises once a relationship is formed. Because of this, there is never a lack of referrals. Lighthouse is a small business, there are not multiple departments. One benefit of a small business is that the advisors make key decisions as a group. For example, in January we left our former broker dealer and moved to LPL Financial, LLC. Everyone cooperated with the decision and began the substantial task of repapering all accounts. The CEO of Lighthouse is also the principal advisor of the firm. For instance, it could be a matter of changing the culture, ensuring decisions from upper management are being followed through on lower levels. In order to transition to the next stage, the company needs to strategize and focus on one or two traits that lead to an advantage. Stage five organizations have all the components necessary to be considered an analytical competitor. The company is exploring new metrics, examining their processes and looking for ways to improve. The company has the data, technologies, and staff to remain competitive and profitable. In order for Lighthouse to move through the final two stages there would need to be significant resources devoted to increasing data available, purchasing software, and implementing ongoing analytics projects and future planning. How does your company create competitive advantage with analytics? Analytics is using data, performing analyses and adjusting business processes and goals with that information (Davenport and Harris, 2007). Unfortunately, Lighthouse is not creating a competitive advantage with analytics at this time. The data is not available and the emphasis on analytics is not present. How does your company compete internally on analytics? Lighthouse is not competently competing internally on analytics. There are no shareholders, thus the only reporting that is done is ... TO: Mrs. Mia Foster, CEO Levendary Café FROM: Qian Zhao DATE: November 9,2014 RE: Advice and Analysis on your meetings regarding future of Levendary Café China WORDS: (803 word) ______________________________________________________________________________ Statement of Problem The following three issues were the main problems in Levendary: 1. Louis Chen, Levendary's hand–picked president unwillingness to follow to the company's direction and reporting status. This problem stems up from how he was introduced to the business. Leventhal gave him abroad latitude to execute his plans in establishing a strong market position as a base franchise outlet throughout China. 2. Reporting system was adopted from U.S Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which was not a suitable practice for the growing China market. 3. For a whole year, no senior executive had visited China to see what Chen was doing. Lack of supervision could have caused Chen to set his rules and how to operate the China market. Decisions 1. The most important decision to take on this problem will be to ensure: 2. There are documented cultural competent management reporting system that will fit in many cultures including China. 3. Lavendary should have more formal hiring process with set regulations to avoid more cases similar to Chen's case. 4. The failure to supervise Chen for a whole year can be corrected by ensuring that the company has executive and CEO meeting regularly so that important decisions on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being a leader means you lead by example so that others are inspired to follow (Stojkovic, Kalinich & Klofas, 2015). Leaders exist in our everyday lives, regardless if they assume the title or not Stojkovic, et al, 2015. Some of these leaders are family, peers, friends, co– workers and professors Stojkovic, et al, 2015. Modeling leaders and training in different areas at my past jobs have allowed me to excel in areas of communication, customer service and time management. These individuals gave me the drive to be a better person and achieve excellent results doing everyday tasks. As a result, I could count on these people for help if I am unsure of my job responsibilities and they would be more than happy to assist me. Confidence, passion, patience, integrity and transparency are some of the fine qualities of a leader (Stojkovic, et al, 2015). Therefore, strong trustworthy leaders treat others the way they would like to be treated (Stojkovic, et al, 2015). Furthermore, leaders clearly communicate their expectations in a clear and understandable manner to other people. Leaders try to create a safe environment that fosters creativity, ambition, social engagement and innovation among the employees (Stojkovic, et al, 2015). Therefore, frontline workers are allowed the discretion to make decisions regarding the job (Stojkovic, et al, 2015). I will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My entire career was spent at Computer Associates and while I can't tell you first–hand about the pressures in other companies or industries I believe that CA was among the most aggressive in its pursuit of goals, a fact often relayed to me by my industry peers. Both the CEO and I exerted significant pressure on our teams to meet the goals that we had set for ourselves. As you would expect this has a trickle–down effect to others in the organization. While from this perspective performance was measured by internal goals at an executive level these targets were primarily driven by the expectations set by outside parties, primarily the analyst community. The challenge is always in balancing the complexity of a compensation plan with the desired behavior. We spent a significant amount of time aligning the compensation of employees to the corporate goals. 7. Option compensation will continue to be a critical component of compensation for executives as it simplistically aligns the executives' pay to shareholder value in its simplest sense. I don't believe that options compensation is the primary driver of behavior when things shift from the legal to the illegal. As with most senior executives in industry, ego is a huge driver in individual behavior. Compensation is important, but the recognition of your performance is sometimes even more important. We have created a performance driven culture without the necessary control framework for people to operate within. One minute you are doing a great job, the next you have crossed an imaginary line. The frameworks don't do enough to quantify behavior as legal and illegal leaving inconsistent rules for organizations to operate within. How does Enron compare to the subprime mortgage debacle, or to Steve Jobs backdating options. There remains too much room for interpretation. 8. Probably covered in the above. • 33. Literature Review : Hiring Managers Are Hiring Caucasians... LITERATURE REVIEW Hypothesis 1: Hiring managers are hiring Caucasians for Senior Level Executive positions over minority applicants. In America, cultural sounding names are prevalent. People attribute certain cultural names with racial groups. For example, Lakisha Johnson and Jamal Wilson may be seen as names of African Americans While Emily Adams and Connor Backham, may be seen as Caucasian names. Marianne Bertrans and Sendhill Mullainathan conducted a study on race in the labor market by sending fictitious resumes to help–wanted ads in Boston and Chicago newspapers. To manipulate perceived race, resumes were randomly assigned African–American or White–sounding names before being sent to jobs around the Boston and Chicago area. White names received 50 percent more callback for interviews compared to the African–American names. They also found the racial gap to be uniform across occupation, industry and employer size. In fact, Bertans and Mullainathan found evidence that inferred social class from the names. This study was particular interesting because it presented research as to how employers are using prejudice attitudes when extending interviews. This study aids to our research because it shows how hiring managers are denying cultural sounding names even before an interview. Despite their qualified experience, skills or education, they are overlooked therefore more attention is giving toward other applicants which could result in Caucasians being offered the ... When the employees feel as if they themselves, as stated by the survey and face–to–face interviews, will not work as hard and as an overall will hurt the company as a whole and they would like the senior management to take into account their disgrievences and communicate better with them. Model for Predicting Employee Resignation BIMS has developed a model for predicting employee resignation and turnover. After reviewing the surveys as well as the exit interviews; BIMS has developed a model based on logistics regression and then analyzing the turnover. They have developed five hypotheses from previous research of the effects of different factors affecting resignations and turnovers. The first hypothesis is based on the length that an employee has been with BIMS and that the more time invested in the company, the less likely they will resign. The belief is that increased tenure strengthens the propensity for employees to remain. The second hypothesis is that higher performing employees are less likely to resign than average to lower performing employees. One way to ensure higher performance is to implement a contingent reward system. In the event of continued low performance from certain employees, BIMS must be aware of the withdraw process: a major reduction in performance, possibly to unacceptable levels, and ending with resignation. On top of that, financial problems also contribute to the students' misbehavior. Due to lack of money, some students steal other students' money or belonging . There have been many cases of money being stolen and bags with new books lost too. Although they can be categorized as underprivileged students, this does not give them the right to steal other peoples' money and things. They should however be given help by the school authority. Apart from that, peer pressure is definitely one of the reasons why students are involved in disciplinary cases. Nowadays, there is a current trend where 'good is bad' and 'bad is good'. The bad guys in school are seen as 'cool' and the good guys are seen as 'nerds'. Thus, some students join these bad gangs to be well–known and if they do not join or do not carry out disciplinary problems, they may be labeled as 'losers'. This will demotivate them thus in the end, they feel that they have no choice except for being a follower of the 'gangsters'. If not, they may lose friends and power. On top of that, influence from mass media is also a factor. The mass media controls teenagers in many ways and especially in terms of behavior. The students tend to 'copycat' what they see in the internet, television, movies and etc. However, the sad

I've dreamt about being in NHS for years, knowing its strong reputation and prestige. Now that the moment is here I'm actually happy to say there is something my moms were right about. My moms raised me with a strong set of morals, including "hard work pays off." Sometimes this can be discouraging when you work hard, but it doesn't pay off as you'd like it to. I've always gotten the grades I strive for without much struggle. However, once high school started, everything changed. I'd work for weeks on a scholarship essay, and I wouldn't even place. Who's going to win the end of year awards? When you consistently get the grades that I do, people just expect those grades. No one congratulates you on your hard work anymore, and you don't always get recognized. Despite the lack of recognition, I still take pride in my grades, and continue to work hard. This was a significant number on the amount of clubs in Kilkenny (Tipperary's opponents in 1916) which had an estimated sixteen clubs.9Therefore, Dublin had more members and significantly also the game was played at Croke Park meaning that the spectators in Dublin were not required to travel long distances to the final in 1917 whereas the spectators of the teams in the 1916 had to do ... The best fucking troops in the entire Empire. The Emperor's finest." "Ah, I see what you mean." Captain Corvinus grinned crookedly, watching a couple of the "Emperor's finest" leaning over the gunwales giving up the contents of their stomachs. Prefect Aelianus grimaced, cursing through a sigh. "Don't get cute with me, Captain," he warned. "Once we get back on dry land my men and I will resume our almighty ways. We'll catch the villain Rubio Artorius and bring him to justice." "Justice?" Captain Corvinus scoffed. "Is that what you Praetorians call it? Murdering innocent citizens in the name of a tyrant? Slaying women in children in cold blood? Why you're just a gang of over–paid thugs–an Imperial band of brigands. Ruthless executioners." "Watch your tongue, Captain!" Prefect Aelianus warned. "I am an officer of high imperial rank. I can have YOU executed for that kind of talk. Don't push your luck, see?" "Nah, nah, Prefect. I shan't." Captain Corvinus shook his head, his hands raised in mock surrender. Assuming just 1% of these species go extinct each year, we estimate that around 9 species disappear each hour. With background extinction levels reaching up to 1000x higher than the natural rate, this means to me Zoology is more critical than ever if we wish to preserve and protect life. Growing up obsessed with any animal documentary I could find, my love for animals has never been doubted by friends or family. The relationships between species, their environments, and their physiology and behaviour have always been aspects that fascinate me and capture my imagination. My A–Level in Biology is key to completing my journey. The exam board Salters–Nuffield Advanced Biology has helped to provide key skills that others may not have. Throughout my course we focus not just on the theory behind biological aspects, but also on the application of it in the lab. Corporal Shanek Case Summary On Thursday, 29 March 2018, at approximately 1139 hours, Corporal Shanek was dispatched to the Outpatient Center Ortho Clinic for a patient (later identified as Haley Eastin) threatening to hurt herself and describing plans of suicide. At approximately 1149 hours, I heard Corporal Shanek radio "I need additional units in OPC now". I arrived at approximately 1150 hours. Upon my arrival I observed a thin build white female walking out of the Ortho Clinic waiting area being followed by a black female RN (Hill), a white female social worker and Corporal Shanek. I asked Corporal Shanek "What are we doing?" as they approached. Corporal Shanek was on the phone with Lt. Berthia as I doubled back and around the café to cut Eastin off at the main entrance doors. At this time, I grabbed Eastin's left wrist with my left hand and placed my right hand in her back forcing her onto the counter. • 106. Summary : ' Emperor Commodus ' Roman Emperor Commodus HIEU 322–B01 Joel Leviten October 6, 2016 Emperor Commodus By all accounts was a handsome man, with curly blonde hair. But he appeared to possess a weak character and was easily influenced by others. But so too was he prone to cruelty and excessive behavior. To an extent his behavior was still held in check, when his father was still alive, although then too some believed to detect the signs of a new Nero in the young heir. Cassius ' earlier rebellion, when he mistakenly thought Marcus Aurelius had died, might well have been inspired by a fear of what was to come if Commodus came to the throne. Commodus was a crazed power lunatic who thought he was a God and fought in the Gladiator events thinking he could not die. Commodus was in fact a terrible one. Cruelty, vanity, power and fear formed into a terrifyingly dangerous mix of bloodlust, suspicion and megalomania. Commodus should be remembered as a monster, a tyrant who renamed months in his own honor, and who slaughtered his way through the circuses in ludicrous displays of 'manliness '. Lucius Aurelius Commodus was born on 31 August AD 161 at Lanuvium, roughly 14 miles south east of Rome. Of the fourteen children of Marcus Aurelius ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is an instance where I believe that even though this idea or thought was mentioned many years ago, it still has relevance today. I do not have an exact date of that quote, but with General Lee fighting in the Civil War, I would imagine it came somewhere in the mid–1800's (The book it is found in was published after his death). Our current military leaders need to listen to advice like this quote, get out and know the people they put in charge so they are better able to make decisions on who should and should not actually be leading. In the past couple of years there have been some nasty headlines made by the Air Force for things that should never have been issues in the first place if there was proper leadership in charge. On the officer side there has been a 2–star general bringing embarrassment to the Air Force by getting excessively drunk in public while on a high–visibility trip to Russia, to widespread cheating on academic tests at the Air Force Academy and on certification tests for the officers in charge of nuclear missile sites and codes. On the enlisted side there was an epidemic of Military Training Instructors sexually assaulting females attending Basic Training. I was sitting with my friend, Maddie, at a table in the corner of the dining room at Morningside of Branson Meadows. He was laughing already, which made me think he was a jokester. We were instantly able to hit it off because he was really easy to talk to, which made asking questions and actually connecting with him a lot easier. He started off by telling us about his childhood, which was rough, but he did not let that tear down his spirit. Which is something I look up to because I have dealt with similar situations with my family. He was born in 1931 and lived with his mom, dad, and sister. Jerry was a Petty Officer 2nd Class and an aircraft engine mechanic while in the Navy. Annotation This is a review of an article which discusses the different techniques of hiring the right, mainly in this case, senior executives. This article aims to provide leaders with guidance on how to add value to the hiring process by improving their recruiting diagnostics. The article focuses on a concept which is referred to as fit and unpacks. This concept breaks down into sub–categories which are, fit with the job, fit with the leader, fit with the team, and fit with the organization. Instead of the traditional approach of recruiting and assessing candidates based on the current needs of the organization, this concept also addresses the current and emerging talent requirements. The article also considers the types of questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If leaders follow the techniques discussed in the article, they can avoid many expensive consequences of hiring unfit candidates. The article discusses three fronts on which "being fit" is composed of. One of the fronts is being fit for the job. The list of candidates will of course be able to meet the technical demands of the job as well as have the skills, experience, and be on the right career path but these are expected credentials. The leader must be able to look past these credentials and focus on the depth of the candidate's experience. A good way to do this would be to focus on the extent to which they have demonstrated the qualities they talk about in their past work activities. Focusing on just what the candidate says they have done and the qualities they have can distract a leader from what is really important such as the quality and performance of their previous work. Another topic discussed which I agree with is whether the candidate is entrepreneurial or is more comfortable improving something which already exist. The leader must decide what they are looking for. If I am looking for someone to come in a break up the current system then someone with more entrepreneurial traits would be the right candidate. If I was looking for someone who could improve the current system, then I would look for the candidate who has past experience doing so. The article refers to asking ... When he or it awoke it would be ravenous, it would have no problem eating any of the crew. Marybeth explained to Erica that part she wasn't surprised by it, her and Wallace were scheduled to be the evening meal when they were on Nova. The big question was would the isolation unit hold it, and if it did what would they feed it. She discussed with them what was happening to Dr. Lee, needless to say they found it all hard to believe until she allowed them to look into the isolation room. She told them SSG Bell knew about it, but she had ordered him not to speak to anyone. Jack Welch Paper The analogy of a leader involves the head, the heart, and the feet, but according to Welch, there are four essential traits of leadership, a female trait, and two critical questions. I would rightly conclude that the seven characteristics of Jack Welch do not cover the bases and the analogy of a leader. The seven characteristics of a leader that Jack Welch looks for in a leader emphasizes more on one area than the others. There is more emphasis on the heart than the other areas. From the ideology of the analogy, I discovered that Jack Welch`s characteristics have about 71 % of it concentrated on the heart. I disagree with how Jack Welch`s prioritized those characteristics because I personally think that passion should be the first the seven characteristics because it is the force that empowers one to take an initiative in a certain field. The second characteristic should be energy because before one can be a leader, he or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He had the energy, for a matter of fact, he had tons of positivity.
