Islam Is A Major World Religion
The most fundamental belief in Islam is that there is no God but Allah. He is the one, the first
and the last, has no partners, sons, daughters or intermediaries. Islam is a major world religion
with over one billion followers worldwide. Although it s associated with the Arabs of the Middle
East, Muslims are found all over the world of every nation, color, and race. Islammeans submission
to the will of God; comes from an Arabic root word meaning peace and submission. The origin
word of Islam, Salam , is the same that is shared with the Arabic word meaning peace and
security. Peace and safety come from living life according to God s will. Crow said: Islam
signifies the safety and security experienced in acts of mutual harmony and concord between
humans arising out of the inner peace between individual creatures and the Creator. To guide
people, several sources have been established and explained by God through his Prophets with
clear signs, which make obvious what is right and what is wrong. Peace and safety come from
living life according to the God s will.
Many people claimed that Islam was a political entity, meaning converts did not often spread the
religion, but Islam as a political entity was spread by force and combat. Esack describes the claim
about the religion, If there is a major world religion that is unambiguously identified as having a
political agenda, then it is Islam. For most people who are not Muslim, this is seen as very
disturbing, not least because

Michael Sullivan Couple
There are numerous other abstract wood sculptures of sensual nature, polished and smooth that
help provide a background of how these artist made the transition including the two from The
Khoan and Michael Sullivan Collection (images pg 4) wood sculptures, one done in 1981
Couple and the other Untitled in 2005. Couple is cylindrical mainly due to the bamboo material,
and yet the this piece is one of movement, graceful flowing curves accentuated by the void areas
throughout the piece. The contouring lines are beveled providing a 3D human forms intertwined.
The lightness of the bamboo color resembles a warm flesh in a satin finish which still allows the
natural bamboo joint to remain as an accent and a horizontal element at the arm and shoulder
portion of the form. This is a harmonious piece and stylized abstracted human elements. This open
and airy piece is a total separation from the solid pieces Idol and Silence and is more akin to the
Man and Woman expression. The Couple sculpture piece may have been a gift to Michael Sullivan

Again, this is not a large sculpture compared to the 2015 work and is the human form confined
within a single piece of wood. The variety of grain and the deep carving to accentuate grains,

exquisite interlocking shapes in a gentle manner, an honor to the tree used. This is an elegant
combination of distinct areas that create a head, breasts, arm, legs and torso, polished to a satin
finish and looks inviting to rub the undulating surfaces. This again is a single piece of wood,
sanded and polished velvet smooth. The wood is Platane or Sycamore tree, which grows to up to

Those Who Say They Don t Know. Law and Human Behavior, 36(1), 28 36. In the article
Improving Eyewitness Identification Accuracy by Screening out Those Who Say They Don t
Know, the authors main issue was the lack of information, from previous studies, about the
improved accuracy that is possible when allowing eyewitnesses to withhold responses about
which they are unsure of by responding don t know. The purpose of this study was to provide
evidence that screening out those who say don t know as a response in identifying a suspect will
further lead to improved accuracy, because the eyewitness has the option to opt out of reporting a

Students, independently, watched 2 video clips. The first video clip was a stimulus clip of a
staged car theft of 15 s duration. The video was shot at an angle in which students where
witnesses to the crime and they were approaching the car. It had a clear view of the offender. In
the clip the witness alerted the offender that they were present by shouting which resulted in the
offender fleeing. The second video clip was a 3 minute unrelated filler clip in which included
numerous individuals that could have possibly hindered the participants in accurately identifying
the offender. Once viewing both clips participants where then put in one of two retention intervals
3 minutes or 3 weeks to identify the offender. Retention intervals where used to further replicate
real life situations and to see how time plays a role in memory accuracy. Upon the completion of
time intervals either 3 minutes or 3 weeks participants were shown one of two photographs. One
was of the actual offender and the other photograph was of a filler who matched the description of
the offender. Both pictures only showed individuals head and shoulders. Participants were given
general information informing them that the person in the photograph may or may not have been
the car theft individual. A single photograph of either the offender or a filler was displayed with

Intergrated Communication in the Business World Essay
I. Integrated Communication Background
Communication is the essence of all human interaction, relationships and learning. Creating and
maintaining strong and constructive relationships with all stakeholders is after all the main scope
of organization s communications. On this view, effective communications are vital for
organizations to grow, evolve and stand out among the competitors. The new era of digital
communications, the globalized economy and empowered scrutinized stakeholders have challenged
the traditional communications practices. As a reaction to adapt to this new environment and
changed conditions, it is not very uncommon that managers and consultants advice organizations to
embrace the ideal of integrated communications. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The news spread quickly in the local media and social networks causing worry and suspicion among
the community on whether the news was true and accurate. Faced with the lack of an official
statement from the Government, while several international media emphasized that the agreement
was already established, environmentalists, citizens, groups of interest (Alliance Against Import of
Waste, Active Youth) started a chain of protests pressuring the Government to re think its decision
and reject the U.S request. In addition, they accused the Government for lack of transparency after
some local media published that the discussions between respective governments for such matter
had started since September.
On 15th of November, the deadline set by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical
Weapons for Albanian s official decision, the PM was forced by thousands of protestors to change
its decision and reject the request. But what led the Government to prevent legitimate stakeholders

The Temperance Movement Of The Late 19th And Early 20th...
The Temperance Movement of the Late 19th and Early 20th Century
The temperance movement of the 1800 s compelled Americans to consider the impact of alcohol
consumption on society. The temperance movement was one of many reforms taking place during
the 19th century. Other reforms taking place in America were women s rights, abolition, prison and
asylum reform, education reforms, and religious awakenings. The common element in all of these
reforms is the awareness and desire to improve society and thus American lives. This essay
examines the temperance movement and its successes and failures.
Reasons for the Movement:
Among the reasons that people in this time period consumed alcohol had to do with the fact that
water and milk were not always safe to drink. Alcohol consumption began early in life and was
commonly drank at home and social events. Alcohol use in moderation was sanctioned even by
church leaders. But, fears of the consequences of excess alcohol consumption had existed prior to
this time period (Temperance Movement, Carson and Bonk).
Saloons outnumbered schools, libraries, and churches by 1909. Also, there was a greater
understanding of the harmful effects of excess alcohol use on health from medical professionals.
Politically, taverns were controlled by brewers such as Anheuser Busch or the liquor trusts
(Temperance Movement in the 1900 s). Concerns of excess alcohol consumption brought about a
climate of social awareness and calls for change in the early

Herman Webster Mudgett was born in Gilmanton, New Hampshire in May 1861 to Levi and
Theodate Mudgett. Levi was a farmer and a devout Methodist, lessons he would aggressively try
to instill in young Herman. Herman immediately exceled in school and this caused him to be
bullied. The bullying would inevitably lead him to his obsession with death and his inclination
towards the macabre. One day bullies forced him into a doctor s office and made him stare at the
skeleton figure he had face to face, while he was looking someone made the skeletal hands touch
Herman s face. Herman recalled being frightened at first but then later found the experience
fascinating, this experience cured him of any fears he may develop and allowed him to pursue a
new hobby of dissecting animals. In 1878 Herman married and had a son with a women named
Clara in Loudan, New Hampshire. Herman was not a man with any obligation towards family or
fatherhood and he eventually abandoned them both to pursue his darker desires. In 1882 Herman
enrolled in University of Michigan s department of medicine and surgery which gave him easy
access to cadavers. Being an intelligent man with no eversion to the dead he noticed that the bodies
had an insurancepolicy he could claim so he would steal the cadavers and disfigure the bodies in
various ways to collect the money by claiming they were victims of accidental death. Herman

Summary Of Joe Kanty s Spunk
Throughout the short story Spunk , Joe Kanty, (the husband of Lena Kanty) plays a certain role
that deals a lot with disrespect, miscommunication, and the morals of specific boundaries that need
to be set when dealing with the rights and wrong doings of your spouse. Joe is the type of
character that sort of stays in his shell, meaning that he doesn t necessarily express his feelings as
much as he might wantto. He is very scrawny and quiet, and is afraid to stick up for himself. As if
he allows people to run over him because he s too shy or too trapped in himself to actually speak
up about what s on his mindor bothering him the most. Joe would be the type to probably let
someone walk all over him. He could say something to other characters in the story, and then as
the reader, you might think to yourself he doesn t seem too sure , or he might not actually mean
what he s saying, he s just trying to talk big in front of his friends, because in reality, he seems a
little unsure of how he really wants to address his situation. With this being said, Joe could be
gloomy when it comes down to the fact of him seeing his wifeand knowing that everyone else is
seeing his wife with another man. The way he goes about addressing the fact though is harsh and
he could ve handled the situation a little better than what he did. For example, in the story, after
Walter and Elijah were talking to Joe about seeing his wife with another man, it said how he stood
there silent for a long

Summary Of Software Prefects
Abstract Early predictions of software defects during software development life cycle play a
vital role to produce successful software project. Besides, it reduces the cost of software
development, maintains high quality, improves software testing and facilitates procedures to
identify defect prone of software packages. We need more research studies today to improve
convergence across research studies due to its use a different of inconsistent measurements.
Therefore, to avoid several types of bias: different sizes of the dataset are used in our study to avoid
the bias of data. Comparative studies relied on appropriate accuracy indicators suitable for the

Therefore, if we can identify which modules in software most probably to be defective it can
help us to reduce our limited resources and time of development [2]. Based on the specific types of
software metrics in the previous research studies, numbers of predictive classification model are
proposed for software quality it can explore the defectives in some of the software modules by
using several types of classifiers such as decision tree [3], SVM [4], ANN [5] and NaГЇve Bayes
[6]. The classification model is one of the most common approaches used for early prediction of
software defects [7], including two categories: Fault Prone (FP) software and Non Fault Prone
(NFP) software. The prediction model represented by a set of code attribute or software metrics [7,
8]. The objective of this research is utilized ensemble learning method that combines the vote of
multiple learner classifiers by using the different subset of feature to improve the accuracy of
supervised learning. Another advantage of ensemble methods, it enhances the performance by
using different types of classifiers together because it reduces the variance between them and keeps
bias error rate without increasing. Two main types of ensemble methods [9]: Bagging and Boosting
techniques [10]. The first one depends on subsampling of the training dataset by replacement
sample and generates training subset then

The Key To Successful Relationships
The key to successful relationships is the ability to express one s thoughts, ideas and feelings
clearly, utilizing respectful language and behaviour without undue anxiety at the expense of
others. Assertive communication is the skill to convey messages to patients, families, and other
colleagues in a positive, caring, nonjudgmental, and direct manner that aims to acknowledge the
needs of others and oneself (Balzer Riley, 2012, p. 4). Working as a support worker with the older
adults is definitely a challenge. In my culture, it is emphasized to respect someone who is older
than me; and saying no to an older adult who asks for a favour is a sign of disrespect. For example,
my client would ask me to do extra work that is beyond my job description

Music has been around for a long time, and no one is really sure when it was invented; music has
always seemed to just be. But, since music has been given rules and explored as an art form, it has
been innovated and changed in ways that changed it forever. The invention and of electricity and
machines changed the way that musicwas approached, as much as exploring what a chord is.
Electricity also brought about a new, interesting genre of music; electronic music, which is any type
of music that is produced by a machine. By this definition, any soundthat is run through a computer

timbral types: booms, whistles, whispers, screams, percussive sounds and vocal sounds (human and

variation of that speed was what made the tone and pitch of the sound change. Russolo created
several compositions for his instruments, which were received critically by the public. Although the
ideals of Russolo were very influential, neither his musical scores nor his intonarumori survived,
which means the assumption can be made that neither were of great interest to the musical world

subsequent compositional developments, their wish to conquer the infinite variety of noise sound
has remained a reoccurring interest throughout the century (Morgan 117). Russolo s idea of
combining noise into music was absolutely pivotal to the development of electronic music,

What can be stated as a welcome relief for the educated traveler might pose real challenges for
the hotel business. To better understand the scenario, it should be noted that hotels are presently
facing severe shortages in occupancy rates which are at their lowest since 1971. Such a crisis and
lack of funds can definitely hamper any efforts to install appliances that comply with the LEEDS
standards (Leadership in Energy Environmental Design). Some experts agree that a trade off may
lead hotels into removing free amenities that include little bottles of shampoos, jams and free

Where are the Workers gone?
The hotel industry gives employment at a very large proportion of part time workers, who after
gaining substantial experience, leave for other lucrative jobs at restaurants and outdoors. Low
wages in the hotel industry is one of the primary reasons for low retention rates.

1Cloud Computing in Daily Operations Cloud computing refers to the delivery of computing
services over the internet. The computing services include: infrastructure, development platforms
and software applications. Cloud services are privately owned for the purpose of remotely
provisioning scalable and measured IT resources from data centers located around the world.
Cloud computing can assist organisations improve the creation and delivery of IT solutions by

Earle Wheeler Case Summary
Earle Wheeler was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1964 to 1970, during the
Vietnam War. From 1962 to 1964 he served as Chief of Staff of the United States Army and then
in July 1964 the U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed Wheeler as the Chairman of the
Joint Chiefs of Staff to succeed General Maxwell Taylor. Wheeler was the longest serving
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs to date, serving six years. Wheeler and Robert McNamara the
Secretary of Defense often disagreed with one another, they have great respect for each other.
General Wheeler being the nation s top military officer undoubtedly spanned the height of America
s involvement in the Vietnam War. Wheeler oversaw and supported the expanding U.S. military
role in the Vietnam War in the mid 1960s, consistently backing the field commander s requests for
additional troops and operating authority. He often urged U.S. President Johnson to strike harder at
North Vietnam and to expand aerial bombing campaigns. Wheeler was concerned with minimizing
costs to U.S. ground troops. At the same time, he preferred what he saw as a realistic assessment of

How Does Alexander The Great Create A Perfect Society
Alexander III of Macedon, or as commonly known by the infamous name of Alexander the
Great, had a dream of circumnavigating the world to finally see the ocean from both sides of the
world. There were obstacles that were in between the objective of his conquest, other civilizations
that were very foreign to his people. As commonly done in this current era of the world, the
civilizations were conquered in order to improve on to the current state of another one s empire.
Alexander the Great had intentions that were simple, to civilize the foreign nations and to leave a
long lasting legacy under his name. This task was not easy where he had to explore the middle east,

Sexual Harassment Definition
Summer of 2012. I was walking down the street in an old shirt and shorts with my mom, aunt,
and younger cousin when a car filled with a group of twenty something year olds appeared.
When passing my family, the car erupted in hoots and hollers , a known antic of catcalling. At
the time, I was twelve years old. Similarly, I was walking into a restaurant when a man made a
suggestive passing. As my mother glared at him for his remark he repeated himself, this time
intending the sexist slur for her. I was wearing an oversized sweater and leggings. Street
harassment, more commonly known as catcalling, is a daily occurrence in the life of a woman. It is
an objectifying and degrading way to call attention to a woman. A woman s appearance or clothing

The Concept Of Cardinal Change
Legal Research Assignment
My legal research paper is on the concept of Cardinal change. Cardinal change is one of three
legal classifications of change. A change is define as followed; Any alteration to a contract
permitted by the Changes clause of a contract. (Nash, Scooner, O Brien, 2007). Most construction
contracts contain a clause governing changes that allows the owner to change or modify the work
required under the contract documents. (Loulakis Santiago, 2001). When clause mentioned above
is included in the contractor it means the contractor is typically required to perform the change.
Now a cardinal change is considered a major change to the contract. A Cardinal change is define as

the fact that the contract, by way of detailed and comprehensive specifications and drawings,
described the contract items minutely. This belief was apparently also based in part upon the fact
that the contract was a fixed price contract. (Justia, 1969). For the first issue the board found that a
large number of changes were made after the contract was awarded. Whether they look at the
number Air A Plane Corporation submitted or the one Army Chemical Corps submitted, the number
was still large. The first change

Francis Bacon was a famous philosopher of this time period, who kept company and traveled

These believers cite important counter arguments supporting William Shakespeareas the true author.
For instance, No Elizabethan documents support the claim that Shakespeare s plays and poems
were written by someone else, or that the actor Shakespeare was not the author Shakespeare.
(shakespeare online.com) Clearly, the evidence doubting Shakespeare s authorship has no clear
backing emanating from the Elizabethan period when Shakespeare was alive rather it was a theory
started well after Shakespeare s passing. A more specific counter argument concentrates on the
number one alternate to William Shakespeare Edward De Vere17th Earl of Oxford. In examining,
the historical data, the dates do not support the theory that the Earl of Oxford wrote all of

Shakespeare s work was produced years later. (For instance, The Tempest was influenced by a

that the Earl of Oxford did not write all of Shakespeare since the Earl of Oxford s death predates

Cape Cod s Housing Crisis
Cape Cod is plagued by an economic dilemma: young people, especially young families can not
afford to live here. From 2000 to 2010, Cape Cod experienced an exodus of 27% of those between
the ages of 25 and 44. One of the major factors in this outmigration is the lack of affordable housing.
Affordable housing is defined as a specific, measurable ratio of income to housing expense. They
are homes made available specifically to individuals and families whose income is at or below
80% of the median income for the area, as established by the Office of Housing and Urban
Development, and where the housing costs for those homes are less that 30% of the household s

The development of affordable housing results in immediate and long term economic benefits by
increasing government and discretionary spending in the local community. The spending increase
occurs in several stages: the immediate effects of the actual construction, the secondary effects of
housing cost relief on overburdened families, and the long term effects of increased government
spending in the region.
In the first stage, the construction of new buildings results in new construction jobs. For example,
building 100 LIHTC for families leads to creation of 80 construction related jobs and 42 jobs
based on the indirect increased spending (Wardrip.) In addition to construction jobs created, these
employees encourage the local economy simply through their presence, buying lunch near the job
site, getting gas, getting coffee, etc. Local businesses may feel the need to increase their own
number of employees to help serve the new customer base, which in turn leads to additional
increased spending in the area.
The secondary economic effects of affordable housing opportunities are felt primarily by those who
receive the housing. In 2006, over 50% of Massachusetts renters were housing cost burdened,

Underwater Cemetery Research Paper
Underwater Cemetery How new technologies have helped undersea treasure hunters disturb long
forgotten shipwrecks According to the United Nations more than three million shipwrecks can be
found on the ocean floor. These ships contain trillion dollars worth of artifacts, however we
should not forget that an incalculable number of people lost their lives on those ships, making
them massive underwater cemeteries. All those deaths left behind them mourning family
members who demand that wrecks be left as undisturbed graves. An experienced diver once
claimed that hunting through a shipwreck was like walking through a haunted house. You can
sense the presence of those who sank with the ship and have nothing to identify their lost
remains. This is why the shipwreck are primarily their graveyard and not a place for treasure
hunts. They should be left in peace. Ships like the Nuestra Senora de la Mercedes which sank
near the coast of Tampa bay, killing over 200 crews members, should be protected by some
regulation. For the respect of those who died serving their country, even if the ship contains half a

Art Of Evoking Nature s Majesty Within A Tight Space
A Japanese garden embodies the art of evoking nature s majesty within a tight space. Throughout
5th to 8th century Japanese gardens sprung up for ritual purposes. From the late 8th to the 12th
century the Japanese gardens started to become more of aesthetic and social piece. These Japanese
gardens hold many styles and elements. What make a Japanese gardenso special are the natural

the most common of the gardendesign possesses a stream or pond lying in the center surrounded

elements water, stone, and trees, displaying the natural landscape of Japan.

This song seemed to require the most work from the performers as it used a wide range of

Theodicy in John Milton s Paradise Lost
John Milton s theodicy in Paradise Lost is an attempt to justify the ways of God to men. Many
ask how God could let someone as innocent as a child die in a horrible way. How could a God
that is all loving and all powerful let something like that happen? He answers this using the fall
of Mankind as the trigger point. Cordelia Zukerman and Thomas H. Luxon, The dominance of
these themes comes from the fact that Milton is writing about the first humans on earth, humans
who have no history and no way of knowing the world except through God s inspiration.
(Zukerman, Luxon). He explains by utilizing three parts as his structure: Before humans, during
Eden and after the Fall. Thus the explanation in this essay will be two fold; the first section
dedicated a summary of previously stated three points and the second section a critique of said
theodicy. Key Elements Before the time of the humans was the original fall, that of Satan (or
his angelic name, Lucifer). This was the fall because of Pride. Lucifer was a prized top rank
angel who became jealous of God s son, Jesus, and decided that he didn t want to serve in
Heaven any longer. Upon deciding this, he recruited one third of the angels within Heaven to
battle against God using, as Milton describes, His name, and high was his degree in Heav n
(Milton, Book five, page 128, line 707). Lucifer then erects his own throne and God matches his
army s number to do battle. Lucifer s army is ultimately wounded by Michael and

I have visited a number of military museums and memorial sites in my life and every one i went
to, either the curator or other tourists were amazed by how long i would go on for about certain
parts of history that a section of the exhibit or area of the battlefield memorial pertained to. One
day while my family and i were visiting one of my favorite memorial sites, the USS Alabama
battleship, I was fortunate to have been there the first annual gathering of the USS Alabama
living history crew, a group of reenactors with a love for military history and the ship itself who
board the ship and reenact daily acts done by the sailors of the vessel to keep her afloat, from
manning the anti aircraft guns to cooking meals for the other crewmen in the mess areas. I got
the attention of the members of the crew and they were so impressed by someone of my age(i
was 14 at the time) and offered me a chance to join and i accepted immediately and spent several
days on the ship with them conducting drills and educating the populace about the ship and its
history and at the same time, expanding my horizons and my love for

Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs
Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this
project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I
thought that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious
faith. However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is
a much more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized
as religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple
definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. Therefore, I have formulated my
own definition of religious persecution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A majority of Democrats (72%), political independents (53%), and pastors from NCC
denominations (66%) agreed with the statement, compared to a minority among Republicans (32%)
and pastors from NAE member denominations (29%). Interestingly, a majority of ministers agreed
with the statement Persecution of Christians because of their faith is a major problem in the United
States. Sixty one percent of all pastors agreed with this statement, although just 16% agreed
strongly, while the rest agreed somewhat with the statement. Although Republicans (72%), political
independents (60%), and evangelical pastors (70%) were more likely than other groups to claim
religious persecution in the United States is a major problem, a significant proportion of
Democrats (35%) and pastors from NCCC member denominations (46%) also agreed with the
statement. More Christians have died for their faith in the 20th century than in the previous 19
centuries combined. Each year, about 150,000 are martyred, two million are being actively
persecuted, and millions more are living with their religious freedoms severely restricted. Religions
make claims about the nature of the world, the origin of man, the means of salvation, and so on.
The Constitutional freedom of religion gives citizens the right to believe these claims, and freedom
of speech gives them the right to make these claims publicly. Freedom of religion is not a prize for

Piggy s Savagery
In the novel The Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses Piggy and his glasses to convey that
when man and his society become more savage in nature, reasoning and intellect are lost through
through the vulnerability of his character. This thought is further exemplified in Hussein Tahiri s
work We Have Created a World of Civilised Savages in which the author discusses the modernity
and inhumanity of nuclear warfare. In the beginning of the novel, Piggy s glasses are a beacon of
ingenuity on the abundantly fruitful island that the boys land on. Living without authoritative rule,
the glasses are a mechanism of reasoning and intellect, and are proudly worn by piggy. The
progression of the boys new society is obvious during the first few chapters.... Show more content

This descent is foreshadowed when Jack and the boys decide to use Piggy s glasses to start a
fire. Golding writes that there was pushing and pulling and officious cries. Ralph moved the
lenses back and forth, this way and that, till a glossy white image of the declining sun lay on a
piece of rotten wood (41). A declining light is resting on a vulnerable structure of civilization.
The glossiness of the bright and powerful sun portrays that the rays of sanctuary are beginning to
become cloudy and unattainable. The wood, which symbolizes the construction and security of
civilization, is rotten and vulnerable. All of these comparisons are witnessed through the lens of
the glasses: an indication of intellect and scientific improvement. Contextually, the fact that the
glasses were used as a mechanism to create a fire shows that intellect can be a catalyst for
archaic means of survival, instead of being used for scientific revolution. The duality and
outcomes of intellect is also explored in Hussein Tahiri s We Have Created a World of Civilised
Savages . In the article, Tahiri discusses nuclear warfare and weapons, and how advances in science
can be both destructive and peaceful. He argues that modernity provides human

Case Study Of Keurig Green Mountain
Keurig Green Mountain, previously owned by Keurig, Inc., was introduced in 1998. Beginning
as a vision in the 70 s, the goal of the company was to solve a typical office problem; a full pot of
coffee sitting, growing bitter, dense, and stale. The vision was a single cup coffee brewer. In
1992, a business plan was formed and partnerships were made. John Sylvan, the man with the plan,
called in Peter Dragone, a former college roommate and director of finance at Chiquita, and Keurig
was founded. But the vision and the plan were not enough. They needed funding. In order to quit
making their coffeepods by hand and make their single coffee brewers more reliable, they sought

The Key Ideal City In Plato s Republic
Plato s Republic book IV continues with the conversation between Socrates and Adeimantus on
creating what Socrates believes would be the ideal city. A key idea that he and Adeimantus
debate over is the wealth and poverty among each class. These classes are; Auxiliary (The
warriors who enforce the rules of the Guardians, they also protect the city), The Guardians (They
are responsible for ruling the city. They are chosen from among the ranks of the auxiliaries) and
the Producers (The largest class of society but no share in ruling, they focus exclusively on
producing whatever it is that they are best suited to produce). One concept in the republicis the

Extreme poverty, however would restrict people and prevent them from getting the tools they
need to their job successfully. This links back to the previous point as either extreme poverty or
wealth would damage the state as no one would do their job. If the guardians didn t do their job
and over indulged in wealth then they may care less for their duties and therefore rules begin to
breakdown
This class idea has some similarities to today s society, with social inequality being a big ethical
issue; it raises some questions to whether this ideal world that has been created would work. For
example one possible issue with the class system that are both of them have the smallest group
holding the highest/ or all of the power. This is an issue as the top percentage will only understand

ensure equipment is working properly, follow safety procedures for transporting goods, make
certain that cargo is secure, drive and maneuver trucks, read and interpret directions, and maintain

Trucking jobs at one company may look very different from those at another, and their selection
systems should reflect that. It is also important to remember to follow any regulations in place
in the geographic location. With that said, recruitment strategies should be creative and try to
extend beyond the traditional methods. Referrals may be useful in the industry, if care is taken
to avoid adverse impact. It also makes sense to advertise in directed mediums, like in truck stops
across the country. If the organization has the money to invest, they could also build their talent
and provide training to the people they want to put into their talent pipeline by providing
courses leading to CDL licensure. This could create a sense of commitment to the organization
and reduce turnover. As far as selection, job history data may be more relevant to these jobs than
it is to others. It would also be wise to check into any criminal history the person has. Verification
of both of these sources is absolutely key to success. A physical would also be necessary to
determine if the person is physically able to safely drive a truck. A simulation or road course
would be ideal for this job, as it could determine if the driver would be able to handle the exact
requirements of the job and can be highly

Capital Punishment Was Abolished By Harold Wilson
Capital Punishment was abolished under Harold Wilson s Labour government in 1969 (Manton.K,
2011, P.16) in the United Kingdom, but there have been continuing debates concerning the
reinstatement of the death penalty in the UK.(BBC NEWS, 2011) reports that the Conservative
party MP calls for submission on capital punishmentin the UK. The Brigg and Goole MP is one of
a number of Tory backbenchers calling for a commons debate of the return of capital
punishment. (BBC NEWS, 5th August 2011) Currently, Paul Staines, who writes the Guido

out a public opinion poll, which recommends that around half the population want capital
punishment to be reinstated for murders this rises to 60% when it comes to child or police officer
kills , furthermore his e petition on the government website needs 100,000 people to support it so
that there could possibly be a preliminary debate on the issue (BBC NEWS, 4th August 2011). As
Mr. Staines statistics poll shows, in 2011 that there is a high percent of the public that requests
capital punishment to be reinstated in the UK for serious crimes such as; murder, child murder and
police officer kills.

Being A Leader Takes Great Ability. Over Many Yearsв
Ђ™ People
Being a leader takes great ability. Over many years people have written many books and taught
many ways for people to become an effective leader. One of the main things that people fail to
understand that the major part of being a leader is just being yourself. You can be taught by
someone techniques and ways to problem solve and how to think strategically but leadership is
more than that. Being yourself flaws and all helps make you human and shows your ability that
you are not perfect and makes mistakes just like everyone else. These techniques will make you
gain those necessary followers who do not look for someone that is perfect but look for someone
that is inspiring. Many times the necessary skills individuals need to become a leader... Show more

Being Yourself Many people get into business and feel that need to separate their lives or
compartmentalize their life from who they are at work against who they are when you are not
working. One of the biggest pieces of advice leaders and aspiring leaders should take is being
themselves. Having confidence that you are good enough just being yourself will help make
you a leader and someone that people would want to follow because they see you as being
human and like themselves. This concept is hard to follow by many executives because most of
the knowledge and training out their point them to certain traits and skills needed to have to be
an effective leader. According to the authors Robert Goffee and Gareth Jones in one year there
where more than 2,000 books published on leadership, some even reprints of Moses and
Shakespeare repackaged as leadership gurus (Goffee, R., Jones, G, 2000). With such vast
amount of information available it is surprising that many of these do not give the basic advice
to just be yourself. Weakness and Leadership One of the main techniques of being yourself is
showing your weakness. No matter who you are from a crossing guard to a CEO of a Fortune 500
company, everyone has a weakness. If someone is considered to be perfect people might assume
them to not need followers. It will illustrate to people that they could handle everything for
themselves (Goffee, R.,

Tragic Events That Occur In Romeo And Juliet Essay
The tragic events that took place in Romeo and Juliet could be considered the result of Romeo s
poor decisions. Many tragic events take place over the course of the play Romeo and Juliet by
William Shakespeare. The events are the result of some poor decision making and acting on
impulses that ultimately brought grief upon both houses of Capulet and Montague. Romeo is the
character most to blame for the tragic events in Romeo and Juliet because he killed Tybalt, he
killed Paris, and he bought the poison and left his dagger; killing himself and Juliet. Romeo is the

A Short Note On A Polymerase Chain Reaction ( Pcr ) Essay
My longest ongoing project began in October 2014 under the guidance of Dr. Daniela Vergara, a
postdoctoral researcher of the CGRI. Dr. Vergara guided another undergraduate student and me
to troubleshoot a protocol for a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The objective of improving
this protocol was to analyze phylogenetic relationships between local samples by amplifying and
comparing a region of Tetrahydrocannabinol Acid (THCA) Synthase Gene. My colleague and I
had applied for the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program Grant, which funded our
research and allowed us to ascertain a successful protocol for this PCR and sequence the
amplified region of THCA Synthase Gene. However, near the end of our project, we learned
another university s research team published nearly the same work we were performing, which
encouraged us to further our research before publishing. As new data became available, we
observed eleven copies of the THCA Synthase Gene, which provided our research with a new
goal to develop novel primer sets for each unique copy. My colleague and I each developed a
novel set of primers and protocols associated with those primers, which has allowed us to map the
phylogeny through the variation of these genes. Continuing to develop this research, we are
analyzing possible correlations between the variations of a certain paralogs in relation to the
phenotype or physical traits of the plant. We plan to publish the phylogenetic relationships we
discovered, as well as

Female Representations Between American Psycho And Misery

Female Representations Between American Psycho and Misery In the media, gender is
stereotypically represented by splitting both men and women into two categories. Within these
categories are specific traits that have led women to become represented as inferior to men.
Women are presented as sexual, emotional and dependant while men are portrayed as strong,
reliant and independent. This causes males in the media to be the hero who has the capabilities to
take on the active roles while women deal with the passive roles. The representation of both
genders significantly influence the way that the horror genre is portrayed in today s movies
(Santili, 2007). A prime example is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is how Bateman and his colleagues think about women and also how the media portrays the
importance of what women are: sex symbols. Women in American Psychoare depicted as nothing
more than sexual desires and personality or intelligence has little to no importance in the story. A
primary example is when Bateman has sex with two prostitutes named Christie and Sabrina.
Afterwards, he proceeds to torture both women where [he] impatiently leads them to the door,
both of them dressed and sobbing, bleeding but well paid (Ellis, 1991). This scene displays the
lack of intelligence or personality that both women have and goes on to demonstrates how Bateman
used them for his sexual and sadistic pleasures. However, in Stephen King s Misery , there is a lack
of sexualisation towards the female protagonist. Paul Sheldon, who is trapped within the home
of crazed Annie Wilkes is less than thrilled to be stuck inside a isolated house with a woman.
While most works of horror have younger female actresses, Annie Wilkes is a middle aged
women who plays a big part in the story (Foster, 2014). Misery certainly subverts the sexual appeal
that the media portrays in today s horror genre. Emotional characteristics are another representation
that women are shown to have in the media. Women are displayed as weak, inferior human beings
that are

  • 2. Islam Is A Major World Religion The most fundamental belief in Islam is that there is no God but Allah. He is the one, the first and the last, has no partners, sons, daughters or intermediaries. Islam is a major world religion with over one billion followers worldwide. Although it s associated with the Arabs of the Middle East, Muslims are found all over the world of every nation, color, and race. Islammeans submission to the will of God; comes from an Arabic root word meaning peace and submission. The origin word of Islam, Salam , is the same that is shared with the Arabic word meaning peace and security. Peace and safety come from living life according to God s will. Crow said: Islam signifies the safety and security experienced in acts of mutual harmony and concord between humans arising out of the inner peace between individual creatures and the Creator. To guide people, several sources have been established and explained by God through his Prophets with clear signs, which make obvious what is right and what is wrong. Peace and safety come from living life according to the God s will. Many people claimed that Islam was a political entity, meaning converts did not often spread the religion, but Islam as a political entity was spread by force and combat. Esack describes the claim about the religion, If there is a major world religion that is unambiguously identified as having a political agenda, then it is Islam. For most people who are not Muslim, this is seen as very disturbing, not least because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Michael Sullivan Couple There are numerous other abstract wood sculptures of sensual nature, polished and smooth that help provide a background of how these artist made the transition including the two from The Khoan and Michael Sullivan Collection (images pg 4) wood sculptures, one done in 1981 Couple and the other Untitled in 2005. Couple is cylindrical mainly due to the bamboo material, and yet the this piece is one of movement, graceful flowing curves accentuated by the void areas throughout the piece. The contouring lines are beveled providing a 3D human forms intertwined. The lightness of the bamboo color resembles a warm flesh in a satin finish which still allows the natural bamboo joint to remain as an accent and a horizontal element at the arm and shoulder portion of the form. This is a harmonious piece and stylized abstracted human elements. This open and airy piece is a total separation from the solid pieces Idol and Silence and is more akin to the Man and Woman expression. In the article Improving Eyewitness Identification Accuracy by Screening out Those Who Say They Don t Know, the authors main issue was the lack of information, from previous studies, about the improved accuracy that is possible when allowing eyewitnesses to withhold responses about which they are unsure of by responding don t know. The purpose of this study was to provide evidence that screening out those who say don t know as a response in identifying a suspect will further lead to improved accuracy, because the eyewitness has the option to opt out of reporting a response... The video was shot at an angle in which students where witnesses to the crime and they were approaching the car. It had a clear view of the offender. In the clip the witness alerted the offender that they were present by shouting which resulted in the offender fleeing. The second video clip was a 3 minute unrelated filler clip in which included numerous individuals that could have possibly hindered the participants in accurately identifying the offender. Once viewing both clips participants where then put in one of two retention intervals 3 minutes or 3 weeks to identify the offender. Retention intervals where used to further replicate real life situations and to see how time plays a role in memory accuracy. Upon the completion of time intervals either 3 minutes or 3 weeks participants were shown one of two photographs. One was of the actual offender and the other photograph was of a filler who matched the description of the offender. Both pictures only showed individuals head and shoulders. Faced with the lack of an official statement from the Government, while several international media emphasized that the agreement was already established, environmentalists, citizens, groups of interest (Alliance Against Import of Waste, Active Youth) started a chain of protests pressuring the Government to re think its decision and reject the U.S request. On 15th of November, the deadline set by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons for Albanian s official decision, the PM was forced by thousands of protestors to change its decision and reject the request. • 6. The Temperance Movement Of The Late 19th And Early 20th... The Temperance Movement of the Late 19th and Early 20th Century The temperance movement of the 1800 s compelled Americans to consider the impact of alcohol consumption on society. The temperance movement was one of many reforms taking place during the 19th century. Other reforms taking place in America were women s rights, abolition, prison and asylum reform, education reforms, and religious awakenings. The common element in all of these reforms is the awareness and desire to improve society and thus American lives. This essay examines the temperance movement and its successes and failures. Reasons for the Movement: Among the reasons that people in this time period consumed alcohol had to do with the fact that water and milk were not always safe to drink. Alcohol consumption began early in life and was commonly drank at home and social events. Alcohol use in moderation was sanctioned even by church leaders. But, fears of the consequences of excess alcohol consumption had existed prior to this time period (Temperance Movement, Carson and Bonk). Saloons outnumbered schools, libraries, and churches by 1909. Also, there was a greater understanding of the harmful effects of excess alcohol use on health from medical professionals. Politically, taverns were controlled by brewers such as Anheuser Busch or the liquor trusts (Temperance Movement in the 1900 s). Concerns of excess alcohol consumption brought about a climate of social awareness and calls for change in the early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Summary Of Joe Kanty s Spunk Throughout the short story Spunk , Joe Kanty, (the husband of Lena Kanty) plays a certain role that deals a lot with disrespect, miscommunication, and the morals of specific boundaries that need to be set when dealing with the rights and wrong doings of your spouse. Joe is the type of character that sort of stays in his shell, meaning that he doesn t necessarily express his feelings as much as he might wantto. He is very scrawny and quiet, and is afraid to stick up for himself. As if he allows people to run over him because he s too shy or too trapped in himself to actually speak up about what s on his mindor bothering him the most. Joe would be the type to probably let someone walk all over him. He could say something to other characters in the story, and then as the reader, you might think to yourself he doesn t seem too sure , or he might not actually mean what he s saying, he s just trying to talk big in front of his friends, because in reality, he seems a little unsure of how he really wants to address his situation. With this being said, Joe could be gloomy when it comes down to the fact of him seeing his wifeand knowing that everyone else is seeing his wife with another man. The way he goes about addressing the fact though is harsh and he could ve handled the situation a little better than what he did. For example, in the story, after Walter and Elijah were talking to Joe about seeing his wife with another man, it said how he stood there silent for a long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Besides, it reduces the cost of software development, maintains high quality, improves software testing and facilitates procedures to identify defect prone of software packages. We need more research studies today to improve convergence across research studies due to its use a different of inconsistent measurements. Therefore, if we can identify which modules in software most probably to be defective it can help us to reduce our limited resources and time of development [2]. Based on the specific types of software metrics in the previous research studies, numbers of predictive classification model are proposed for software quality it can explore the defectives in some of the software modules by using several types of classifiers such as decision tree [3], SVM [4], ANN [5] and NaГЇve Bayes [6]. The classification model is one of the most common approaches used for early prediction of software defects [7], including two categories: Fault Prone (FP) software and Non Fault Prone (NFP) software. The prediction model represented by a set of code attribute or software metrics [7, 8]. The objective of this research is utilized ensemble learning method that combines the vote of multiple learner classifiers by using the different subset of feature to improve the accuracy of supervised learning. Another advantage of ensemble methods, it enhances the performance by using different types of classifiers together because it reduces the variance between them and keeps bias error rate without increasing. Two main types of ensemble methods [9]: Bagging and Boosting techniques [10]. The first one depends on subsampling of the training dataset by replacement sample and generates training subset then ... The Key To Successful Relationships The key to successful relationships is the ability to express one s thoughts, ideas and feelings clearly, utilizing respectful language and behaviour without undue anxiety at the expense of others. Assertive communication is the skill to convey messages to patients, families, and other colleagues in a positive, caring, nonjudgmental, and direct manner that aims to acknowledge the needs of others and oneself (Balzer Riley, 2012, p. 4). Working as a support worker with the older adults is definitely a challenge. At eight o clock in the evening, Major Rogers, Lieut. Turner and Ensign Avery left the company and went forward for the purpose of reconnoitering the place. They found the Indians engaged in a dance, evidently entertaining no apprehensions of an enemy in the vicinity. They returned about two o clock in the morning and at three o clock, Rogers advanced with the whole party, within three hundred yards of the village, where the men were lightened of their packs and formed for action. About an hour after this, the Indians broke up their dances and retired to their cabins for repose; and soon the whole village was asleep, the more oblivious from the weariness induced by their late diversion. The upbeat tempo, lead by the flutes and clarinets, made the song very enjoyable to hear and also had a very happy feel to it, which, in my mind, made it a very appropriate closer. The song started with a great tempo but a relatively soft dynamic. This quickly changed about half way through the song when the dynamics picked up. The loud dynamics with the fast tempo at the end of the song had a very grandiose sound and left the audience with a great taste in their mouths. Overall, this was a very good performance. • 40. Theodicy in John Milton s Paradise Lost John Milton s theodicy in Paradise Lost is an attempt to justify the ways of God to men. Many ask how God could let someone as innocent as a child die in a horrible way. How could a God that is all loving and all powerful let something like that happen? He answers this using the fall of Mankind as the trigger point. Cordelia Zukerman and Thomas H. Luxon, The dominance of these themes comes from the fact that Milton is writing about the first humans on earth, humans who have no history and no way of knowing the world except through God s inspiration. (Zukerman, Luxon). He explains by utilizing three parts as his structure: Before humans, during Eden and after the Fall. Thus the explanation in this essay will be two fold; the first section dedicated a summary of previously stated three points and the second section a critique of said theodicy. Key Elements Before the time of the humans was the original fall, that of Satan (or his angelic name, Lucifer). This was the fall because of Pride. Lucifer was a prized top rank angel who became jealous of God s son, Jesus, and decided that he didn t want to serve in Heaven any longer. Upon deciding this, he recruited one third of the angels within Heaven to battle against God using, as Milton describes, His name, and high was his degree in Heav n (Milton, Book five, page 128, line 707). Lucifer then erects his own throne and God matches his army s number to do battle. Lucifer s army is ultimately wounded by Michael and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the beginning of this project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. Piggy s Savagery In the novel The Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses Piggy and his glasses to convey that when man and his society become more savage in nature, reasoning and intellect are lost through through the vulnerability of his character. This thought is further exemplified in Hussein Tahiri s work We Have Created a World of Civilised Savages in which the author discusses the modernity and inhumanity of nuclear warfare. In the beginning of the novel, Piggy s glasses are a beacon of ingenuity on the abundantly fruitful island that the boys land on. Living without authoritative rule, the glasses are a mechanism of reasoning and intellect, and are proudly worn by piggy. The progression of the boys new society is obvious during the first few chapters.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A declining light is resting on a vulnerable structure of civilization. The glossiness of the bright and powerful sun portrays that the rays of sanctuary are beginning to become cloudy and unattainable. The wood, which symbolizes the construction and security of civilization, is rotten and vulnerable. All of these comparisons are witnessed through the lens of the glasses: an indication of intellect and scientific improvement. Contextually, the fact that the glasses were used as a mechanism to create a fire shows that intellect can be a catalyst for archaic means of survival, instead of being used for scientific revolution. The duality and outcomes of intellect is also explored in Hussein Tahiri s We Have Created a World of Civilised Savages . Within these categories are specific traits that have led women to become represented as inferior to men. Women are presented as sexual, emotional and dependant while men are portrayed as strong, reliant and independent. Afterwards, he proceeds to torture both women where [he] impatiently leads them to the door, both of them dressed and sobbing, bleeding but well paid (Ellis, 1991).
